Playstation 2 Games - electronic arts, playstation 2
I was very excited about this game being released because i LOVED 2008. I skipped buying the 2009 game because i don't see the point in getting a new one every year. So i was very excited about the rosters on this year's games. However, after the first play, i could tell that nothing has changed since 08. The game play is exactly the same, and i didn't see any new moves. I've only had the game for 36 hours, but can tell u that i was disappointed in the lack of changes/graphics. There are a few new features, and some color schemes are different, but as far as the game itself, just not a lot of differences.
I do LOVE this game. I have played the 2008 version ever since it came out, so i still enjoy this game. I gave it 4 stars because it's still a GREAT game. However, i believe that since the PS3 and 360 are the big products now, and PS2 games aren't priced as high, they seem to be neglecting this format, and it's fans, with the new games. They still market these games, without making any changes, because we still are buying them, and they don't have to invest the money in making anything different. That part sucks. NCAA Football 10
I should have known that 10 was not going to be any real upgrade, but still bought it. As C. Dean points out, he did not by 09. I skipped 09 as well. C. Dean is spot on. What this tells me is that I am going to have to buy PS 3 eventually, even at $400. Sony is not investing anymore real monies into its PS 2 games and eventually the PS2 will go the way of the Gamecube. In a way I feel robbed, not by the game, because it is good. I just don't want to buy anymore PS 2 games new and yet I don't like going to Game Stop. This game is fun and is good. But it is the same as 2008. Same plays, same moves etc etc etc.
I've spent more time playing the 2008, 2009, and 2010 version of this series then I should admit, but there are significant upgrades in each version. In the 2008 version, the receivers drop too many passes, there are FAR too many fumbles, the defenders can't break from from blocks and the linebackers and defensive backs take horrendous attack angles on downfield tackles. Not to make an even longer laundry list, but fouls are ridiculous and the only reasonable solution is to turn off the fouls entirely, which makes onside kicks unrealistic. These problems have been largely fixed in the 2010 version. Defense in general is significantly improved in 2010 and fewer passes bounce off of wide open receivers (unless it's a short crossing pattern... argh!).
2009 was the first attempt to introduce the play simulator and it had a number of problems that were fixed in the 2010 version. Specifically, simulated onside kicks were always recovered by the kicking team, and if a touchdown was scored during simulation and there was a foul, the offensive would get the ball back, but the points stay on the scoreboard. This was fixed in the 2010 version. Simulation was generally improved, but there are still problems with the simulated defense being too good, unless the offense crosses the 50 yard line... if they make it that far, they nearly always score.
I spend most of the time in dynasty mode, and these are all extremely fun and few improvements have been made or are needed. One of the interesting developments has been the lower quality of recruits in the 2010 version (compared to 2008), especially lineman and FB/TE. This causes the computer teams to get worse over time in the latest versions, whereas in 2008, there are still several teams ranked as A+ overall even after 20 seasons.
There are also issues with the NCAA sanctions for player actions. After about 10 seasons, lots (~50%) of teams are on sanctions and the bowl games see the occasional team with a 3-9 record as too many teams are disqualified from post-season games.
I'm guessing the EA Sports is winding down its PS2 games, but based on the differences between 2008, 2009, and 2010, improvements do occur, even if they are minor.
I had purchased this game for my ps2 and hands down the best college game ever made. so when I bought my ps3 I decided to purchase the same game for the ps3 version and I am very very disappointed the ps3 version is the absolute worst game ever produced who cares for good graphics if the game sucks get it right ea or Sony. buy the ps2 version it rocks.
I ordered this game for my 25 year old son and he plays it all the time. He is laid off from work and staying with me so he has a lot of time to play. Very lifelike graphics. He says its a great game.
I would just like to say thank you to EA and Sony for continuing to release NCAA Football editions each year on the Playstation 2 for those of us who don't have buckets of cash to dump on the whole plasma LCD 'HD' experience thats being crammed down everyone's throats. Oh and look its 40 bucks instead of 60 too. Even if its the same game as 08 it's already perfect no need to change a good thing, I just want the updated rosters, I'll pay for that every year they keep putting it out. Get the feelin' there's alot of people goin into massive debt tryin to keep up with the plasma tv/PS3/PS3 game prices/Blueray DVD prices. But hey its America right, pile it on, no worries.
In spite the fact that this game and the system are by now immensely old (at least for todays standards), this game can still offer hours of endless fun. The most important thing is that you are the fan of the game itself, thentwether you play single or multi-player mode, Season or Dynasty, really doesn't make that much difference. The developers paid a lot of attention to details, which can really be appreciatet during the latter mentioned modes. When said that the game is old, first visually it used even back then a style which its predecessors already used before it, and also older rosters go without saying. Nevertheless, this is a fun game.

Misleading - junk, trash
It comes off as a great controller for 10 Measley bucks...but its exactly what it is: a cheap third party(if you can even call it that) controller that will work for a good week...if your lucky. This controller has a slew of problems, but 3 Major ones. First Off, a big problem with it--seeing as how it is for the PS3 it has no PS button, so no accessing the PS3's XMB (Main menu) while in-game or anything of the like that quick starts you to the menu while your not AT the menu, but I could've lived with that. Then theres a second problem: the buttons, they require you to press way to hard down on them to process a button hit and they feel very poorly put into the controller and that they can just fall right out. Not to mention the controller is an exact replica of a PS2 controller and not a PS3 one. A few of the minor problems: The joysticks, they just dont feel right, the cord is way to short a good 2 feet...if that. It is very very light...it literally feels as if there is nothing inside it. Dont expect sympathy if you buy it though. I took the cheap route to try and get a decent controller and I should have known better. Its only 10 bucks so its not exactly a wallet smasher, but most certainly dont look this way. I dont even think PS3 knows of this controller. It's so cheap that is actually says "Compatible with P3 game system" they probably dont have any right to sale these things on a real retail. If you look this way TURN BACK IMMEDIATELY, the only way to have a surely good controller is to buy an acutal PS3 Controller. PS3 Wired Controller
This is the single worst controller I have ever used. First off, it's so light and cheap in your hands that it feels like it will break. The cord is so painfully short that you nearly have to sit with the system in your lap (it's maybe 18 inches long; shorter than the recharge cable for the system). The buttons don't visibly appear to stick, but their functions inside do. When you press a button while playing a game, there's a fair chance that it will stick and your character will keep doing the pressed action, like jumping (for a face button) or turning (for one of the joysticks). If you press more than one button at a time, the controller barely seems capable of handling multiple functions and one of them just might not work. I was playing Trine and about 80% of the time I couldn't jump or move at the same time. I had to choose one or the other! Also, sometimes it would seemingly lose it's connection to the PS3 even with the cord plugged completely in; it would just lose the signal. I know it's not the PS3, because I just bought it brand new a week and a half ago and the Dualshock 3 that came with it and the second Dualshock 3 that I bought work like a dream.
I purchased this so I could have a third controller without shelling out $50 like I did for the second one, but no. No. This piece of junk isn't even worth $0.99. At least with $0.99 you could buy a burrito at Taco Bell and that would assuredly be the better value. Trust me when I say that you're better off with no controllers than with this one. It's a huge waste of money and will only serve to infuriate you. I am seriously going to look into some quality control issues on Amazon to see if you can get products banned, because this -should NOT- be on the market. It may as well be considered theft.
The one time I make a purchase without 1st reading reviews, and it really bit me in the ass. Can't remember the last I was so disappointed in an amazon purchase. Of course, the obvious complaint about the controller is the lack of the PS button, but it also plays stiff as hell!!! You practically fracture your thumbs trying to use the thing effectively. I'd love to have been able to send the thing right back, but I let my temper get the best of me and ended up shattering the thing in frustration...
I guess it's really my own fault for neglecting to read reviews, and being blinded by the cheap price. damn though, times are hard!!!
I guess the moral of the story is, if something looks to good to be true...well, you know the rest.
At first I was really happy with this product , I got it for my son for Christmas. it was priced cheap and was here in time for christmas..... But after my son started to use the controller, it has already fell apart and broke...... the thumb controllers will not work at all,,,,,, so overall was a total waste of money.
Granted the product is cheap...but you might be better of buying a sony branded wired controller or go with mad catz etc...This controller did not last even 2 days. One joystick was non-operational and wobbly. Disappointing!
I guess its true that you get what you pay for. I purchased this as a spare controller with the Family Bundle and this controller did not work at all right out of the box. Brand new, nicely packaged, could not get a single button to work or the PS3 to recognize the controller. Spend a bit more for the real thing, this controller is not worth the shipping cost let alone the measley $6-8 bucks it costs.
Although this controller is advertised as a "PS3" Wired Controller, it arrives as a "P3" controller, designed for "P3 Games," whatever those are. Bottom line: It DID NOT WORK with my Playstation 3. The instructions are lousy and unhelpful. I sent it back after a frustrating day of trying to get it to work and bought the Sony-branded controller. It's just not worth the trouble. It's a bad sign for your product when one of Amazon's suggested tags for the item is "garbage." On the upside, Amazon's return policy is fabulous! - Broken - Trash - Junk - Playstation 3'

Nintendo 3ds Games - luigi, nintendo
As you all know, the 3ds battery is less then powerful enough for those long trips. I purchased this product because I needed more battery power but didn't want to replace the back of my aqua blue 3ds. The only other battery replacement option available at this time is to replace the battery and back of the 3d. I did not need more power daily and didn't want to fatten the 3ds or change the look of it.
Been using this product for about a week and it works great. I charge it up overnight. (it takes about 5 hours to charge) then I take it with me when I go on trips or when I know I may need extra power. When my 3ds runs out of power I clip this on the back and start the charge. It takes about 3 hours to charge a completely empty 3ds when the 3ds is turned off, and if you see the 3ds charge light go off and turn off this dock you will still have some stored power left in the dock. (if you leave the dock on after the 3ds is done charging you will lose the emergency power) Haven't tested how much, but CTA says about 30 minutes. The beauty of the dock though is you can play it while it charges. It acts like it's plugged into the wall. The dock clips on the back of the 3ds so it stays in place. The dock comes with a usb cable so you can charge it with a computer but I use an adapter for the cable so I can plug it in the wall. CTA sells one but you can also use the plug that came with the 3ds.
Can't say enough good things about this product, it performs exactly as described. I never worry about battery time anymore. Too bad Nintendo didn't think to make their dock work this way. Portable Power Battery Pack for Nintendo 3DS
I love this thing. It adds thickness to the 3DS and makes it easier to hold without getting cramps. I have encountered 2 problems with the product though. One's the same as what the other reviewer mentioned; an easier access to the stylus would work wonders. The main issue I have with this though is, the plastic at the bottom corners are starting to break down. It doesn't hold my 3DS as tightly and snug as it did when it was new. It makes using the system's gyroscope feature harder, when the battery pack easily falls off. I can't play with it on anymore and is now merely a charging dock for on-the-go. It's still a great product though.
I trust CTA will do a revision of this. After all, they did release a better version of their hand grip. I wouldn't recommend changing the design, I love the simple look. Adding 2 little prongs at the top of each corner that can utilize the 2 little holes at the bottom corners of the 3DS will suffice, I think.
I love this dock! I use it when I'm travelling to get an extra charge. It's great for the plane! I also use it when playing games for long stretches, so I can hold the 3DS normally without any cords. If you plan on using the new Netflix or 3D video services, this is a must-have!!
Works perfectly - I highly recommend it!!!
The CTA battery pack works exactly as it is described and is a great buy. I love the fact that it just attaches to the back of the 3ds instead of having to remove the back like other battery products. Its basically a charging cradle with its own battery installed. So, once its fully charged it can be used as a secondary power source for the 3ds or a portable charger.
When you use your 3ds with the CTA pack and the battery is about to die, just press the power button on the CTA pack and it will charge your 3ds as you play. Also, if you're in an area with no outlets, and your 3ds battery is low, the CTA pack can charge it without any wires needed.
It really does work as an external battery or a portable charger, depending on how you want to use it. Finally, it has a stand which allows you to prop up the 3ds. The 3ds is supposed to get Netflix, so the stand will come in handy for watching movies.
Its a really useful device and probably the best 3ds accessory out there. I recommend this to anyone who owns or plans on getting a 3ds.
The 3DS is a power hungry system. This helps ease the worries of a dead battery. The biggest issue is that it adds to the already awkward "boxiness" that makes the 3DS hard to hold. But I would rather have longer playing time any day! - Luigi - Video Games - 3ds - Nintendo'

Portable Scanner - scanner, scansnap
The ScanSnap S1300 rocks and this page doesn't do it justice.
BTW, the difference between the ScanSnap S300 and S1300 is simple.
S1300 works with PC and MAC. S300 only works with PC. Get the S1300.
It scans FAST and PDFs pop up on my PC immediately. It does OCR in the background while the PC is idle.
Great, great quality. My old Epson Perfection 1240 never scanned docs with such clarity.
One drawback...you can't use TWAIN with the ScanSnap series. So no "import from scanner" in Photoshop.
But this things will scan a JPG that can you later open in Photoshop. No worries.
As a designer, I'm not impacted since I rarely scan anything in color these days.
(It does scan in full color, btw...really nice quality).
I'll let the video show you real-world usage.
Personal stuff has been blurred. ;)
You can watch it at you of the tube
and search for the following kB7268TGEng. Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Mobile Scanner (PA03603-B005)
I was thinking about the 1500M but then realized that the software was for Mac only and that making it work with a PC using the great software that is bundled would not be possible. Sure you can get the scanner to work but not all of ease of use features with profiles etc.
I like the Scan Snap software, it is easy to use. I did not use the manual to figure it out(beyond checking what needed to be installed).
You simply select active Profile for your scanning task and then it is a one-click affair.
Scan to a file
Scan to Evernote (I had to configure, very easy to-do)
Scan to email
Scan to Card-Iris
Scan to Word
Scan to Excel
etc.
Could this get any easier?
Page Per Minute:
8 supposedly but if you turn on the special PDF feature to make the document SEARCH-ABLE then the PPM goes down or at least the post-scan processing takes slightly longer.
Small size benefits:
* I like the ability to take it with me to a meeting where I know I will want to share notes
* small footprint on my desk (I like this)
* when you fold up the trays the 1300 is just a tiny little box
Small size issues:
* the paper tray cannot hold as many sheets as the larger models
* guide rails are small and papers can sometimes get fed in at an angle if your paper is curling up a little, I have to assume that with bigger guide rails that would help keep the paper straight
* if you have the space and you want to be able to do large batches of scans I have to assume the larger SCAN SNAPS would be a better choice (they can process more PPM too).
power from USB:
* the option to power form two USB ports is pretty nifty
* this feature is useful for people that travel and do some serious word warrior computing
Lastly, my use case (so that you can determine if my advice applies):
* I am a GTD user and scansnap is part of my process of processing my inbox (getting to zero).
* I scan a lot of stuff to evernote (magazine articles/notes/project related documents)
* I scan all my bills and tax related documents to an encrypted folder
* I scan business cards and use card iris to send to entourage
* My goal of FILING less stuff is a success thanks to the EASE of use of the Scan SNAP
* my goal of shredding old files after scanning is a success
I own other scanners, and they are PERFECT for scanning a few important documents for a task but not for BULK SCANNING jobs. WAY too many steps and too slow! I strongly recommend SCANSNAP scanners.
I've been looking for this scanner for 15 years. It's good enough. It could be better, but it's good enough. If it lasts for two years I'll happily buy it again at the same price.
The hardware is essentially perfect. It's a bit annoying that you need two USB cables if you want to avoid the generic (mediocre) power brick, but blame that on USB. We should all be using either old style firewire or never coming USB 3, but we're stuck with USB 2. It scans both sides of paper at once. Yes, DUPLEX.
Although it's primarily a document scanner, I've used it scan color prints. The results were not professional quality, but they were darned good and fast.
The documentation is excellent.
The software is mediocre. Some of the bundled OS X software is so old it's non-native on Intel machines, fortunately you can omit that. Unlike the higher end machines you don't get Adobe's superb PDF/OCR combination (yes, once Adobe was competent), you get a much less efficient product called ABBY FineReader. Even so, it does produce PDF images with searchable OCRd text indices.
Most importantly, OS X Spotlight WILL index the text associated with these PDF image files.
The mediocrity extends to the ScanSnap Manager UI and workflow. Clearly this was a low bid contract. Don't expect much in the way of upgrades or future products. The scans, however, can be sent to products like DevonThink Pro ($150) for processing.
The scanner uses proprietary drives. This is perhaps the most lethal problem. If they're not upgraded we can be sure that within 3 years they won't work on OS X. Fujitsu, notoriously, does not provide new versions of ScanSnap Manager without a hardware purchase.
There are other problems with the software, but so far it hasn't been unstable.
In summary, 2 star software, 5 star hardware, gives a 3 star review. Surprisingly, I still love the product. If Apple were ever to produce a scanner, it would be a lot like this, though with a better power adapter and infinitely better software.
Even though I have flatbed scanners and a wand scanner, I decided I needed something faster that the flatbed with less tweaking than the wand scanner (fast and OK for images, iffy for documents). I've been wanting to buy either the S1300 or the S1500 based on the great Amazon reviews, but couldn't decide which.
Pros for the S1300 were:
Support for both Mac and PC (have both)
Portability
Price
Cons were:
10 sheet ADF limit
Slower speed (10 ppm versus 20 ppm for S1500)
Lacks full Adobe Acrobat product
Ultimately I decided to "settle" for the S1300, but I'm very happy.
First, it turns out you can actually put far more than 10 sheets in the ADF. The important thing is that the first few pages feed well. The additional pages will fall into place if you've taken moderate care to stack them neatly. I've scanned documents at least 35 pages long with no trouble.
The "slower" speed hasn't been a problem for me. In the past few days I've already scanned inches worth of documents (7" stack is waiting to be shredded) - I anticipating being entirely paper free at work in a week. Ironically, work finally (after months of waiting) got me set up with a XEROX Workcenter 7346. I think the S1300 is actually faster for me, because I can multi-task while the S1300 chugs at my desk (fwiw, I am using a netbook to ingest the scans while working at my "work" desktop).
While I do love having a complete version of Adobe Acrobat, the software included with the ScanSnap lets you do most stuff that's really important - OCR, rotating pages, deleting pages, etc. I have found it's useful, when scanning a stack of documents, to take a moment after each scan to name the thing (e.g., yymmdd description). Renaming is a snap, just hit F2 and start typing the new name. No need to add the ".pdf" extension, that gets added automatically.
The business card software is nice as well, though I find I have to go through and QA the OCR "guesses." Since I haven't had a business card scanner before, I don't know how this compares.
Lastly, this little unit works great if you have a need to use it on the road. I had two multi-hour flight delays this week. I went ahead and set up the ScanSnap with my netbook and chugged through stacks of paper I'd been dragging around for far too long. So awesome that I could do so without any access to power (though I did find outlets so I wasn't draining my netbook).
Definitely recommend the S1300 for anyone who wants to go paperless! - Scansnap - Document Scanner - Scanner - Fujitsu'

Kenneth Cole - belts, columbia belt 11co0221
this is a great quality belt. sure to last many years and breaks in well. only thing in it left marks on my jeans...fine since im wearing the belt over it anyway. might want to look up how to reduce staining Lee Men's 1 1/2" Smooth Bridle Leather Belt, Brown, 34
I needed a belt quickly and cheaply. Amazon surely delivered and I really do like this belt. The leather is good quality and supportive. The stitching is strong and seems like it will last. I cannot complain for the price I paid for it. I use it with Jeans and Khakis on a daily basis.
This belt was just what I was looking for, but I found hard to locate at local Department Stores. A solid one piece leather belt wide enough to work well with jeans. I've bought several laminated two piece leather belts and they just didn't last very long. This belt is perfect for casual wear and its simple design looks great with jeans. Nothing fancy about it, but I prefer usable, simple and sturdy belts to wear with jeans and casual-wear pants. The price is reasonable and the delivery was prompt. When I need another belt I'll definitely order this item again, although it will probably be some time before this one wears out.
The leather was nice, the buckle looked good, the belt had a good feel...and the tongue on the buckle broke the third time I wore it. Probably a flaw in the metal but it doesn't speak well for the quality of the casting. Amazon quickly processed a refund less a $3 restocking charge (?). Why restock a defective item?
It looks nice. Its hard to mess up a belt, but the first time I put this on, the sides cracked, I guess its cheap leather, but then again, what was I expecting from a belt that costs what this costs. It looks fine, but I don't expect it to last a long as some of my belts that I paid a little more for. - Belts - Belt - Brown - Columbia Belt 11co0221'

Keyless Deadbolt - keyless entry, schlage
I recently bought one of these for our home after we moved in. Now I don't need to fumble with keys every time I need to ket in the house, and I don't have to worry about kids losing or forgetting keys.
Like other schlage locks I have owned, this unit seems to be very well made, sturdy, and easy to install. The programming of codes is simple, and codes can be added or deleted just by using the keypad. Keypad use as far as entering codes or even updating codes is straighforward. The fact that a simple button push "lights up" the buttons at night is also cool.
The buttons are also epoxy-coated, so the numbers won't "wear off" thus revealing the codes used. I have a separate code for each family member, and can easily add codes if I have a contractor stopping by.
A key can be used to open the lock if for some reason the electronic part stops functioning (too cold from sub-sero weather, perhaps?). Since this is a Schlage lock, it can even be re-keyed so that the key you have matches the other Schlage locks your house may have. Schlage FE595VCAM619ACC Camelot Keypad Accent Lever Door Lock, Satin Nickel
The other reviews have covered the product very well, so I am just commenting on the battery life. My 9 volt battery that came with the lock lasted 1 month. I just assumed it had been sitting in the package and was near it's exp. date. The 2nd battery I installed was a fresh Everyready Alkaline 9 volt. It lasted a total of 4 months. There are only 3 family members in my house, so I don't think it is a matter of heavy use.
My point is that 4 months is a long way from the 3 years advertised so consider this when you are thinking of getting this lock.
4/5/09 Another update...3rd battery lasted less than 1 week and when it failed the door sat unlocked all day, not good. Will contact Schlage for replacement, but do not like to have to return things and pay shipping
I timed my installation of this at a surprizing 15 minutes, including removing the old doorknobs and reversing the handles on the keyless entry. Usually everything takes twice as long with me! The only hard part was deciding which door to put it on- the main house entry or an outbuilding I use a lot.
An earlier review stated that the lock shuts down for 5 minutes after four consecutive missed entries of combinations. I timed mine at 30 seconds shutdown, confirmed in the owner's manual.
The thing is made well, heavy duty even. Easy to program and delete combinations. I was hoping to gain entry a tad quicker by "swiping" a finger across four digits in a row, but this won't allow that; it wants a discret push of a number on the keypad with a very short time between entries. So it takes 3-4 seconds to open the door.
No complaints, but I await the day the 9V battery gives out and I have to remove the inside portion of this lock to replace it. Then I may have my first gripe!
P.S. - I paid $118 (on sale) for mine in bright brass at Lowe's, Jan.'09.
Having just purchased a new home and in need of replacing the locks, we did a great deal of research on the various companies before settling on Schlage. Of course, they are a decent mid-level quality lock and there are much more secure, and much less secure lock ratings than found within this line (i.e., commercial, etc). We selected this keyless lock to use on an outdoor utility/laundry shed with the intention of being able to access laundry the laundry room easily without the need for keys. It has been wonderful, and we enjoy the bronze colored finish a great deal. I have heard that it can peel and crack, so be sure to keep your receipts in a safe place, or your original packaging, should you need to send it back to Schlage for warranty work (there is a lifetime warranty, as far as I am aware).
The lock is easy to program and uses a 6 digit master code for this purpose. You can store 2 four digit entry codes in the lock at at time, and they can be changed using the 6 digit code. As others have mentioned, this is useful when contractors need access to the home. For example, we were able to have the sprinkler system repair guy do some work on the house because of this.
As for the battery life, I can't comment much on it, except to say that we are still on the battery that came with the unit and it has been about 2 months. I would note, however, that we do not use this system on an entry door to the main house. Rather, it is in a location where it is not used every day. Nevertheless, we live in a very hot climate, which usually kills batteries at a faster rate, and have not encountered a problem with the lock as of yet.
Thus far, we have been very pleased. If I encounter any problems, I will be sure to update the review, but at present, I am very satisfied. A note of caution - be sure to retain the instructions included with the lock, as they contain the 6 digit code necessary to change the entry codes. If you happen to misplace this, you will need to take the lock apart to get the code, as it is inside of the lock.
I had all the same positive reactions listed by others when I installed this. After I had been using it about six months, the 1-4 digits stopped working - when I pressed them nothing at all happened, though all the other buttons worked. This was intermittent for a while and then they quit altogether, taking me back to using a key. I called Schlage and was told that they recommend replacing the batteries every three months. Wonderful! Anyhow, I replaced the battery and guess what?! Now none of the buttons work at all! I have messed with the connections and all, but have been unable to revive it. So how do you send a lock in for repair? Just leave your door unprotected when you send it in? Anyhow, I misplaced my receipt, so I'm totally out of luck. I guess I'm just back to living with fishing out my key every time I need to get in. - Keyless Lock - Keyless Deadbolt - Schlage - Keyless Entry'

16 Gb Usb Flash Drive - usb flash drive, 16gb
Physically, this Transcend 16 GB JetFlash 500 Retractable USB 2.0 Flash Drive looks almost identical to the SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16GB drive. The retractable USB plug on the Transcend drive also works EXACTLY the same way as the Sandisk (I'm surprised that somebody hasn't got sued yet). But that's where the similarity ends, because the Transcend JetFlash is a whole lot faster!
A bit of background information: I own both the Sandisk Cruzer Micro 4GB and 16GB versions. What I noticed is that the 16GB version is much slower than the 4GB version, especially when witting data. I even contacted Sandisk customer support, trying to find out what is the speed of Cruzer Micro. The response I got was quite useless:
"There is no guaranteed speed for SanDisk Cruzer Micro flash drives, as the speed for these flash drives have not been tested. If you need a flash drive with fast data transfer speed, we recommend SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour for this."
Prior to ordering this JetFlash drive, I visited the Transcend USA web site to search for information. Surprise, surprise! The data transfer speed of JetFlash 500 (under the 'V' series) is actually specified as:
"Read 15 MByte/s, Write 7 MByte/s (16GB)"
Once I received this Transcend JetFlash drive, I put it through several benchmark programs, to compare against the Sandisk Cruzer Micro:
- For typical photo files, write speed of the Transcend varies from 6.8MB/s (for 1MB file) to 11.3MB/s (for 5MB file). In contrast, the Sandisk only ranges from 2.0MB/s to 3.5MB/s. That means the Transcend is about 3x faster than the Sandisk! (See my Customer Images for details)
- For very large video files, the Transcend writes at about 7.8MB/s, while the Sandisk only reaches 5.1MB/s. The difference in smaller but still significant.
In terms of storage space: The Transcend drive reports 15.1GB of total capacity, while the Sandisk drive reports 14.9GB. Note that it is normal for a '16GB' flash drive to show only 14.9GB of storage, because 14.9GB for computer people (where 1GB = 2 to the power 30) actually translates to about 16,000,000,000 bytes. So that can be called '16GB' according to marketing people (where 1GB = 10 to the power 9).
In summary, the Transcend JetFalsh 16GB drive looks and works just like the Sandisk Cruzer Micro, but its write speed is +50% to +200% faster than the latter. As of this writing, both drives are available at similar prices, so this makes the Transcend a much better value.
[Update on Nov 3, 2010]:
- The price of this Transcend USB drive dropped further during the past two months. So now it is an even better value.
- Several reviewers have reported bad experiences using this USB drive on the Xbox 360. Right now your only safe bet is to get the Xbox 360 - 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive by SanDisk, which costs twice as much.
- If you don't intend to use the software supplied by Transcend, simply rename the file "Autorun.inf" (located at the root directory of this drive) to something else, such as "Autorun._inf". Then you can use it as a simple USB storage device. Transcend 16 GB JetFlash 500 Retractable USB 2.0 Flash Drive - TS16GJF500 (Black)
I purchased this as a Gold Box deal, so I won't include price as a factor in my review- in all fairness to later reviews. I purchased this for the sole purpose of transporting music and picture files.
I received this yesterday and plugged it into a USB 1.1 port on my case- Not a 2.0! I installed the Transcend Jetflash elite software. I haven't utilized anything in the software, but it includes features for:
1. Outlook Expres and Windows email
2. easy access to your favorites in Intenet Explorer and Firefox browsers
3. secret-zip setup- password feature
4. Data backup and Data sync
5. PC Lock
6. My Jetflash- shows what's on the drive
After installing their software, there was still 15.1 GB available, which I believe is what's the norm for a 16GB drive.
Performance is usually the most critical issue (besides price) with all drives. Needless to say, that is not a big issue with me, since I have it plugged into a 1.1 port! lol. But I did decide to do a couple of performance checks for the tech geeks! (Yes I fall into that category, too!) These specs are read from an external Maxtor One Touch 1TB hard drive and written to the Transcend 16GB jump drive- into a 1.1 port and out a 1.1 port! Sorry, I didn't feel like pulling the full tower case out to reach the 2.0 ports!
A 77.2 mb music folder took 13 seconds (nearly 6mb/sec and a 337 mb music folder took 52 seconds (6.5mb/sec). I imagine it would perform quite better using 2.0 ports.
The only con I can think of would be the somewhat cheap construction (plastic) of this drive. It rattles slightly when you shake it, so rough users might have issues with this. Hopefully, some of this may help you with your decision!
Bought this as a Gold Box special to create a multi-boot USB drive with. That project is being a bit of a pain, but can't blame the drive itself. Not wild about the strange neon pea-soup green color. ;-) The slider is nice once you realize it really does lock into place upon sliding all the way out, despite the feeling to the contrary. Had a little trouble plugging it in as I was keeping my thumb on the slider to "help", only to quickly realize I was creating the problem vs fixing it. 16GB of space for, if memory serves, under $25 was just fine with me.
According to USBDeview the speeds for this device are approximately 7MB/s for write and 15MB/s for read. A bit on the slow side, so if you're going to be moving tons of data on & off this device on a regular basis it might get on your nerves. Not a huge deal for me, but to each their own! - Transcend - 16gb - Usb Flash Drive - Flash Drive'

Portable Burner - camping stove, butane stove
Got two of these for camping/emergency use and couldn't be more impressed. Both work great and fire up on the first try. The BTU output is impressive and the units will boil water faster than my home stove by far. They are light and come with their own case making storage easy. Wish the Butane canisters were easier to find as not everyone carries them. GASONE Portable Gas Stove CSA Approved With Free Carry Case,Gift Box
Greetings all. I got this becasue of the excellent, detailed reviews from Amazon clients. Works great. I use it a lot in the summer with the barbeque. Actually, I use two. The fuel is available in any oriental market. Works well in moderate wind. Lots of BTUs. Use it, wipe it, back in the sturdy case it goes. I use wide pots and pans; they fit and the weight of the utensil adds to the stability of the cooker. Each can of fuel goes a long way. Very even flame, excellent adjustability. Compares to interior regular gas range. Have used it 50 times so far. Works like new. No rust, dents, spills; no ignition failures. Relax -the cooker is designed so that the fuel can cannot go in the wrong way. This is not a toy. Keep children away, just as with the kitchen stove. Do not store fuel can in cooker when not in use. Set up takes 20 seconds. Use. Let cool. Remove can, wipe down and back in case takes one minute. Store anywhere. Case looks like a sturdy cordless drill case. Regards to all.
I was very impressed with the two stoves I bought. The price was unbelievably excellent. I got these for emergency purposes. It is compact and easy to carry with the included plastic case about the size of a small brief case. The top of the stove flips upside down to place a pan on it and again for storage. the design is quite impressive, compact and engineering is top notch. The cannisters fit well and can lock into place to secure connection. The butane cans are about the size of a regular sized spray paint can. I tested it only to be sure everything worked OK, so can not comment on how long a can will burn. The flames were even all around the burner. It is well built and of good quality. It can easily be used for camping or other situations where regular power or gas stoves are not functioning. It is safe, easy to carry and I like it very much.
Like all the other reviews, this is a decent unit. It has many safety features built-in as these units ought to have. It comes with a simple nice and easy storage case making it easy to both store away and carry with you as luggage in hiking and camping trips.
These units are pretty simple and there is not much technological advantage over others, but you can tell it is built well and will last if taken care of (wiping it off when you use it and storing it in a indoor, out of weather environment.
TIP FOR BOTTLE PURCHASE (NO NEED TO BUY GASONE BRAND FROM ONLINE, there are choices available locally in most major metropolitan cities)
*It seems that many reviewers were having trouble finding the butane bottles. The tip is that many Asian markets (e.g. 99 Ranch: [...], H-Mart:[...]:[...] including Korean, Japanese, and Chinese markets all sell generic brands of butane bottles. You just have to find the write type of bottles which the instructions manual specify as DOT-2P or DOT-2Q 8 oz bottles. Here in California as of May 30, 2011, it cost $1.09 per bottle which is cheaper than anything that amazon sells. Asians typically use these butane stoves not for camping but for hot pot (boiling raw foods at the dinner table) or for cooking meat.
Highly recommend to others, build quality is good and works really well. It has many safety design that prevents user from locking the gas-can if either the gas-can is not sitted properly or the top pot stand is not being flipped over. Great price for such a simple but terrific stove.
Of all the portable cookstoves I have owned over the decades this is my absolute favorite! I bought two of these for use both camping and in emergencies.
It is well made and well designed, lightweight, sturdy and has a very hot, near invisible flame. Both stoves lit on the first turn of the handle (yep, it's that easy...no matches required). Oh, and my other favorite feature...the butane canisters are very lightweight. All this and WAY inexpensive on amazon.com as well.
This cookstove produces a much hotter flame than my single burner propane stoves and I was able to boil my eggs very, very quickly (that was my test run out of the box).
Regarding the butane canisters that many have mentioned having difficulty locating: I did try the asian stores near me as another reviewer recommended. No luck. The local outdoors/camping stores/hardware stores wanted over $3/canister.
I wound up ordering eight cases of 12 of the sterno brand butane canisters (96 total) from samsclub.com and paid $188 INCLUDING fedex shipping to my door. That comes to $1.96/canister. These fit the stove perfectly (they have the required notched collar on them). If you order via internet, you need to know that you will be required to sign for the order as it is "hazardous" material.
I HIGHLY recommend this particular cookstove.
This GasOne "Portable Gas Stove" works far better than I expected! We wanted a small "camping style" stove for use if we lose power for an extended period because we only have an electric range. Since were forecast for an ice storm we decided to give it a try before the power went out. Here are my observations:
Setup -
1) Remove unit from plastic hard case
2) Turn burner top over and place on top of base
3) Open fuel storage cover
4) Insert fuel canister (we used GasOne Butane Fuel Canister (12 Pack)) so stove sensor stud fits in "collar notch" (easier than it sounds, see my pictures in "Customer Images)
5) Press down the "Lock" lever
6) To turn on the stove, turn the temperature dial all the way counter-clockwise and it will self ignite
Pros -
+ Good Quality; mostly metal construction
+ Lightweight; weighs only a few pounds
+ Easy Setup; literally took less than a minute from opening the case to when I ignited the burner
+ Hot; the butane seems to burn much hotter than the Sterno heaters I used in the past
+ Sturdy; once setup, different sized pots and pans will fit onto the graduated burner top
Cons -
- Case is a little flimsy, but it is functional
We like this so much that I will likely pick up another one for camping use.
Highly Recommended!
