Waterproof Mp3 - swimming, waterproof
I bought this after breaking 4 H2o audio waterproof ipod cases. On the first three one the ear bugs stopped working (the cords are very short if you have a large head). The last one leaked and fried my ipod, so I gave up. Don't know if I was particularly hard on them, or they're just not that well built, but only one lasted more than a month.
Bought this hoping it would work and it's worked perfectly so far, about 15 hours swimming laps in total (if it stops working I'll update this). The other great thing about this ipod, vs. the plastic cases, is that it's so small. Fits easily under my cap and easy to control. The H2o audio cases are huge. And you can just use the ipod clip to hook onto your google strap, no fuss no muss (you don't need the velcro strap it comes with). With the latest version of the H2o audio cases you have to undo the strap and fit the case over it, then rethread it, or fight to to get the strap to fit through the very thin slits on the sides.
All in all, a great product, so far, and well worth the money (about the same cost as an H20 case and new ipod). Highly recommend it. You can also freak out your friends if you're using it outside the pool, dunking it in a glass of water. Waterfi Waterproof iPod Shuffle 4th Generation 2GB - Underwater MP3 Player for Swimming & Water Sports! - Waterproof Headphones Sold Separately
I received the Shuffle as a Christmas gift and used it on all my workouts. I'm training for triathlons, so the ability to listen to music during all activities has been an asset. Paired with my H2O Audio IE2-BK Surge 2G Waterproof Earbuds, the Shuffle worked perfectly. However, after a couple months of use, the Shuffle had issue with syncing. I contacted H2OFriendly's customer service, and had a replacement sent within the week! I returned the malfunctioning one via USPS and was all set. Great product and great customer service! Can't ask for anything more.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. I too, like many other reviewers, started out with a huge, bulky case for my 80GB iPod w/video. It was so-so, but kind of annoying, especially having to remember to clean and dry the case and armband after every swim, and be extra vigilant when sealing the thing (making sure there wasn't any debris on the o-righ seal, etc) This thing on the other hand, is amazing. It's absolutely tiny, and with a good pair of UW headphones (just get simple earbuds and tuck them under a cap...no UW headphones will work 100% of the time without a cap, due to drag and the necessity of having a solid, watertight seal maintanied at all times for functionality. So just accept that you have to wear a cap to use any UW headphones for lap swimming, and get the lowest-profile earbuds you can find. I got the ones from Aquapac) your entire UW music system can be attached to your head without noticing it at all. There is zero weight with this system, and the drag is negligible. The construction is very solid and the clip attached to the back is perfect for clipping to goggles or the cap itself. (I recommend goggles for comfort. The ONLY downside I can see to this is that it's so small you might lose it if you are careless with it while not attached to earphones, but that's your problem not the iPod's. This is especially true if you take it into the ocean and ride waves with it. But all-in-all, this is the way to go.
And even though it's not that cheap, think of it as an investment in an all-weather mp3 player, not just an UW mp3 player, because it is a fully-functioning iPod shuffle that can be used anywhere, anytime. It's just also fully submersible as well. So you can do all manner of exercise with it (run, bike, row, ski, swim, surf) And not only is the waterproof feature awesome for swimming, but it makes it impervious to sweat for workouts, and accidental spills also. When you factor in how much an underwater case is going to cost for you current iPod, the weight saving and convenience of this tiny little unit compared to bulky cases, and the possibility that even with a bulky case you may flood your iPod anyway and ruin a $400 device in the process, there really are no drawbacks to just buying this instead. I wish I had just bought this thing outright in the first place. Buy one.
Ok, I know everybody loves this thing. I do too. Problem is, this is the third one I've had. First one, died after about 6 uses. They quickly sent me a second one - which died after 15 uses. I was about to just return because I am the type to get very dramatic when something doesn't work, especially when I'm rocking out to some high octane rock n roll and pounding out quick sets one minute ... and the next minute getting nothing and cursing to myself "Great, I can't swim anymore, this goddam thing hooked me like a drug! I don't think my limbs work without it and now it doesn't work. Who can I strangle and scream at like Axl Rose was just doing to me 1 minute ago?!!"
Long story, slightly longer. I calmed down eventually. Customer service was fantastic. They sent me my third replacement before I even mailed the second one back. I've had my third ipod for months and months and it has worked like a charm. H20 Friendly even got in touch with me to tell me that I was instrumental in helping them work out a few kinks. Now their waterproofing technique is absolutely bombproof. I am a believer. I was just reading another review complaining that the price has gone up? Well, I can't really remember what I paid for it, but yes, it is supply and demand. Every swimmer I see, including all the lifeguards, see this tiny thing on the back of my goggles and immediately wants one. What do you want? Its apple, its tiny and its waterproof and its bombproof. Its cheaper than hiring someone to drag your a$$ into a pool when you don't want to go -- and then play you some music underwater while you smile and crank out the sets. - Waterproof Mp3 - Aquatic Mp3 Player - Waterproof - Swimming'

I purchased a similar XRP kit about a year ago through Amazon and it's given me generally good service. I'm a homeowner, so the amount of time I've put on the tools has been pretty light compared to a pro. Being a bit of a tool freak, I was willing to pay a premium for what I thought would be professional-grade performance and durability. So, I was a bit surprised when using the XRP drill a couple weeks ago to sink a few drywall screws that I detected a burning odor coming from the internals, followed immediately by the drill ceasing to function. A disappointing inconvenience for a year-old "heavy duty" drill that's received light use, I thought, but at least the unit is still covered by DeWalt's rock-solid 3-Year Warranty. Surprise! After sending the drill back to the DeWalt service center with a copy of my original receipt, etc. I was informed that the Warranty only covers replacement of parts, and that the labor charge for swapping out the defective switch on my unit will be a whopping $91. I tried to reason with them that this seemed a bit excessive given the premature nature of the failure and compared with the cost of buying an entirely new drill. Their attitude was that's-your-tough-luck-buddy-take-it-or-leave-it. I ended up paying, but feel like it got scammed. A sub-standard product with an effectively non-existent warranty. Be warned. DEWALT DCK955X 18-Volt XRP Cordless 9-Tool Combo Kit
I purchased the kit to replace a drill that was lost, and add the impact and grinder to my collection. The kit is great, and use the other tools more than I ever thought I would. The new tools are smaller and lighter than I would have expected but still as strong. I have used DeWalt tools now for about 6 years, and would recomend them to anyone.
Delivery was prompt. No complaints. The product is nicely priced since you are buying the set. The product is well made, sturdy and powerful. My only small complaint is that this set comes with 3 drills. I am no construction worker so I can really say why there are 3 different types of drills but I supposed they each serve a very specific function. I still gave it a five, can't penalize a product because of my own ignorance.
I got this set several years ago. Mine came with a right angle drill instead of the impact driver. I would have liked the right angle drill and impact driver instead of the impact wrench which i seldom use. Two batteries let you use one while the other charges. I also have an extra battery from my Dewalt cordless nailer, so I don't run out of power. If your a contractor get the DEWALT DW9109 7.2-Volt to 18-Volt Pod-Style Vehicle Plug-In 1-Hour Battery Charger.I renovate houses and have put these tools to use and they perform. Bags are nice and have lots of pockets to carry many accessories.
This is a great tool set. Our original set was stolen and we borrowed a set while I searched for the best price. It was on Amazon through Tool King. Once I ordered the set it arrived quickly. Very happy customers! - Dewalt'

Toddlers Scooter - mini scooter, scooter
I first have to say that I love this scooter, and my son loves it as well. As a general product/review I would give it 5 stars BUT..I am SO disappointed in the color/plastic. We live in Milan(Italy) and can get the scooters there, but being that my son's favorite color is orange, we waited and ordered it here(U.S) , it was easier to get. It arrived in perfect condition, was mounted and ready to go in 5 mins..all good so far. The problem started after he had used it. We are in Michigan, and this Summer has been pretty cool/cloudy definately not typically hot and sunny. Within 2 weeks of use, the color had COMPLETELY bleached out..it is now kind of a pale yellow/translucent color. I would never have believed it could do that, especially not in such a short amount of time. Maybe if it had been a entire Summer in maybe Arizona/Florida,etc It looks like it has been used for 3-4 years and left outside half of the time. I know this problem is basically aesthetic..but it REALLY bothers me, because 1. it was not cheap(price) and 2. it is really ugly now.
I hope noone else has this problem, what a disappointment! mini kick Scooter - ORANGE
We've had this scooter for a few years now. I bought it because I wanted a three wheeled scooter that taught my son to balance but yet was more stable than a two-wheeled scooter.
Most three-wheeled scooters have the third wheel on the back. That always looked a bit awkward to me. Like when they go to kick, the back leg must avoid that wheel. I guess it's not really that bad as I watch other kids, but I wanted my kids to kick like they would on a two-wheeler.
This scooter has the third wheel on the front and it steers like a skateboard. That's a terrific way to teach balance. My son (4 years old at the time) was a little tentative at first, but he was able to use this scooter with a little effort and concentration. It helped him a great deal with his confidence and he was eventually able to transfer to a two-wheeler.
My daughter was 2 years old when she started riding this scooter. She picked it up quickly after watching her older brother. By the time she was 3 years old, she could zip around on it quickly.
There is a brake on the rear wheel, just like the two-wheelers. Other three-wheeled scooters don't have that feature. It allowed my kids to practice using the brake for when they transferred to the two-wheeled scooters.
The Mini Micro is solidly built. We've had ours for about 3 years and it's still going strong. There are no loose parts, nothing falling off or bent. The brakes haven't worn down yet. It still looks just like the day we got it.
The only downsides to this scooter is that it doesn't fold up and the handlebars don't adjust. It's geared to a very small age group (3 to 5) and doesn't hold a lot of weight.
However, the Mini Micro is a terrific beginner scooter, far superior to other three wheeled scooters. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat. It's well worth the extra cost.
___________________
UPDATE: This scooter used to be known as the Micro Mini Scooter, which is what we bought. It is the same scooter with a different name.
We own three of these scooters. We purchased 2 of them (pink and blue) 9 months ago when our twins were two. We recently purchased an orange one for our 1 1/2 year old son. The pink and blue have held up exceptionally well and look just as good as the brand new orange one. Our children play on these nearly everyday indoors and out. I initially purchased the radio flyer scooters, but after an hour of play I returned them. The radio flyer scooters are very awkward with their big base and hard for little ones to manuveur. In contrast, the minikick scooters are easy for my children to steer since they just have to lean one way or the other to turn. They do not tip easily and go over rocks and bumps with ease. Our neighbors also purchased these scooters. Their oldest is 6 years old and she was happily enjoying this scooter as much as her 2 year old brother. I know we will get many years of play out of these great toys!
This is the third one of these scooters that I have purchased. All three grandchildren just love it. They are ages 5, 4, and 3 and within just a few minutes had mastered the concept of using it.It is one of the best purchases I have made and keeps them occupied for a long time. The back tire does wear easily if the brake is applied very hard and the child is going fast at the time the brake is applied. This however is not a major problem since new tires can be purchased and replaced rather easily. Girls love this scooter as much as boys and it is very easy to ride.
My son (2 1/2 yrs old) saw this scooter at a friends birthday party. He picked it up for the first time and seemed to instantly understand how to get it going. He zipped around all over inside their house... everyone was amazed. The birthday boy (2 yrs old) had yet to get excited about it... he really didn't understand how to work it yet. It didn't take too much watching for him to learn from my boy, though. We bought this immediately for our son after the party...
It comes with two pieces... the handlebars simply snap down into the base and your child is ready to go! The two front wheels provide great stability and when you child does tip over, the falls are very minor... nothing that is scraping knees or giving bruises yet. We will be getting some pads and helmet to use with it soon... he is not moving quickly enough on it to be a concern at this time.
My only complaint is a tiny one. On the very limited instruction sheet that is sent with it (you do not need any more than is sent), they show the scooter handlebars seemingly connected to the wheel base in a way that you can carry it folded together. I am guessing that this is something that can be done with their larger scooters, but not this one. Not a big deal...
This is a great toy for helping with eye-hand coordination and balance. He is learning how to control his body lean to make it 'steer' left and right. He is also gaining confidence in using his various body parts in a way that he had not before... I think it is a great toy!
Maybe a little pricey... but we'd pay that again. - Scooter - Toddler Scooter - 3 Wheel Scooter - Mini Scooter'

Personal Health - phillips, norelco
Having exclusively used Norelco (and 1 Remington) shavers over the past 30 years, I can say that this is by far the best shaver I have used yet. Here's what I like:
* Gives a great shave
* Very quiet
* Charges quickly
* Alot less irritation than previous razors. I think the fact that the heads move to the contour of your face has alot to do with that.
* Alot easier to hold
* Looks stylish, alot slimmer than previous models
My previous top-of-the-line Remington had the cleaning kit (similar to the Norelco setup). I never really liked having to buy the cleaning fluid, and changing the filters, etc. (kind of messy). But, it was a gift, so I dealt with it.
While looking at these newer Norelco units, I was already biased into feeling that I "needed" a unit with the Jet Clean system. Today, while at Costco (sorry Amazon), my wife bought me the Norelco 1280x (no cleaning kit) as an early Xmas present (it's the "Premium Edition", $169.99 after Costco's current $30 off coupon - a good deal, I thought). After using the unit, I am very pleased with the shaving performance, as well as the cleaning.
The unit cleans very easily by running hot water on the blades for a few minutes (per the manual), after which you can open up the blades (they flip up) and continue to rinse. It's recommended that you do this after every shave, but who wants to do that every morning, right before work (not me, anyway)? I can see how doing this at least a few days a week will keep the unit very clean, without the hassle and expense of dealing with the cleaning fluid. Looking forward to more clean shaves with my new shaver. Philips Norelco 1280X/42 SensoTouch 3d Electric Shaver with Jet Clean System, Black
I have used several electric shavers in the past and always experienced irritation on my neck from the shaver. No matter how long I used these shavers (allowing for the adjustment) my neck would be irritated and burned after the shave. I can truly say that after using this shaver just a couple of times, I noticed the irritation became less and less noticeable. Now after using this shaver for over a month I have no irritation after I shave. I have used this shaver dry, wet and with shaving gel. I get the closest shave I have ever gotten with an electric shaver. I was kinda hesitant about spending $349.99 for an electric shaver but now I am glad I did.
I used Norelco's for years but 4 years ago tried the Braun 7 Series. It never shaved as close as my Norelco's but I was reluctant to try the Arcitec because of the mixed reviews. The 1280cc was on sale at Kohls so I thought I'd try it out. To begin with it's much quieter than the Braun 7. Both the razor itself and the cleaning system are much quieter. Additionally with the Norelco you add solution from a bottle to the cleaning chamber which is significantly cheaper than using the prefilled cartridges from Braun. My shave is much closer than I had with the Braun and as a result I'm able to shave faster. I also don't have to go over areas of my face to get as close a shave as many times as I had to with the Braun. Overall I think this is a great razor. Hopefully it will last through the years but only time will tell.
Over the years I have strayed from my linear foil shaver (Braun - currently a Series 7) for forays in to other ways of shaving. I've tried every razor Gillette has put out, an old-fashion double edge razor, and several Phillips Norelco rotary shavers. I always seem to end up going back to Braun as it has always worked best for me, despite having very sensitive skin.
When the Phillips Norelco SensoTouch 3d (1280cc) showed up last week, it had been about 4 days since my last shave (which means about 4.5mm hairs - or ~3/16in). I decided to shave half my face wet and half my face dry. I started with circular motions on one cheek with zero pressure, per the instructions, and was shocked at how easily this shaver cut the hair - not a single tug or the tiniest bit of irritation, although it takes about 10 circular passes over every inch to get all of the hair. I continued on to my neck. Here I noticed a bit of irritation, but it was much less than my Braun. I wet and lathered up the other half of my face and gave the SensoTouch 3d a try wet. In my opinion, the wet shave was much more irritating to my skin and didn't get any closer than the dry shave.
As with all other rotary shavers, sideburns and my upper lip are extremely difficult. For sideburns, this shaver has a pop-out cutter that does a good job - but it still leaves too much stubble and the round rotary head can't get close enough... making a clean line difficult.
Since my initial experience, I've shaved two more times (both dry). The shaver is doing great on my cheeks, but is still irritating my neck.
I've decided to give Phillips the 21 days they claim it takes to adjust to the razor, so I will update my review when I have made a final decision.
UPDATE: After giving this razor more than the recommended time, I've given up on it. The razor worked great on my cheeks, but was horrible for my neck. I sent it back to Philips for a refund, but they magically "lost it". I'm still waiting on my refund.
Thank You Phillips Norelco. I have had many electric razors over the years and many blade razors and by far the SensoTouch 3D is the best shave I've ever gotten.
My last razor, Braun, gave me a close shave and I thought I loved it. I accidentally broke it and wondered if there was yet a better razor; how lucky I was to break it.
The Braun would actually cut my skin. People thought I used a blade as often as I got cut.
My 3D is not only the closest shave I've ever gotten but it the most comfortable shave I've ever gotten and it's quiet (my wife loves that).
If you have had a hard time getting a comfortable close shave, this is the razor for you. - Mens Grooming - Phillips - Shaving - Norelco'

Gps Case - case, garmin nuvi case
I ordered this case for my Garmin and other accessories. I was truly suprised by the quality. The case is 12 inches long by 8 inches wide (I measured). It is a little larger than expected, but I am glad because all of the stuff that goes with my GPS fits just fine. It's nice to have extra room. It is made of some kind of reinforced nylon material. The description says it is a "hard case". Most think of a metal or plastic reinforced case like you would put musical instruments in. This IS NOT that type of case. It does have some give to it. If you were to push hard enough on it you can dent it and it will pop back out again. I think it can take a good beating before anything inside gets damaged. I just wanted a durable cash to put my GPS and other stuff in while I travel. This case does the trick. It's small enough to fit inside a carry-on bag or a back pack. The three small pouches you see in the photo have velcro on the back so they stick inside the case without falling out. The pocket also has velco and by pushing on the mesh pocket it "seals" to the grey velvet-liek lining for a secure fit. My GPS, all of the accessories, a camera, and a few other do-dads fit inside just fine. I like it because it has that "grab and go" type feel to it without feeling clunky or annoying to carry around. It has a durable zipper to close the case and it also comes with a handy wrist strap you can attch outside (maybe hook on another bag or over your carry-on? I haven't put it on though because I just carry it and put it in my car (fits easily under the seat or in the glove box) or pack it away. I give this product five stars, plus I think it is very well priced. I have seen similar products priced twice as much and passed them up. Yup, I'm cheap, but this product isn't. Give it a try. If you don't use it for GPS you can at least use it for a small camera, cell phones, or travel kits. Premium Hard Shell Travel Case for Select Garmin Nuvi GPS Navigators - to hold unit, adapters, memory cards and other accessories
I originally purchased a differant GPS charger & case combo from Accessory Genie. When it arrived I noticed that all of the items that came with my Gramin Nuvi 760 would not fit in the case. As a result I left a low review rating. Shortly thereafter I received a call from Alexander Rocha a customer Service Rep with Accessory Genie. He wanted to know what they could do to make me happy. He advised me that they have a larger GPS XL case and would be happy to email me a postage paid return label to send my original purchase back to them. Upon receiving my return they would send the new larger case prepaid. I received the new XL case and it is perfect. Everything fits in the case with room to spare, even two separate dash mounts. Although the case is not a true "Hard Shell Case" it is stiff enough to offer good protection. Accessory Genie went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Way to go Alexander. Thank you!
Don't be fooled. This case is NOT a hard shell as stated. At best it is reinforced nylon. It is easily crushed and at it's most "rigid" points I can easily compress the case with my thumb and index finger! The interior design is adequate for the purpose however the pictures show three interior cases which, indeed are there, each with a velcro attachment but there is only room for the two larger cases. The third smaller case is left to float freely! The case is a nice concept but that concept has not yet reached fruition! I was expecting a hard case and did not get that. If you are indeed looking for a hard case - keep looking...
The case contains my Garmin 1490T and all the accessories. The velcro "mini" bags on the inside let me compartmentalize my cables, suction cups and brackets for the windshield. The mesh divider also allows for several pages of the manual to be folded and carried with the GPS.
Very good hard shell case. Had just enough room to hold all of my gps gadgets which included the gps in its' own case, the owners manual, the windshield mount, three different power and battery charging cords and a couple of spare parts. It's getting full, but whenever I hit the highway, I grab the hard case and I'm off, knowing that nothing got left behind or in another vehicle.
The sturdiness of this case is just right, not to hard & not to soft. My husband an OTR driver uses it to house his GPS unit and cords. He uses the GPS in both his personal and work vehicle (tractor trailer) and the travel case to store & carry it to and from work and both vehicles each week. The only thing his wishes it had was a longer strap in addition to the carring handle. Since his hands are normally full when he's transferring his belongings from one vehicle to another.
Great little "big" bag for my Garmin - it fits everything in 1 place. Only thing - is it would be nice to have a handle. Right now it has a camera-like string.
Would recommend it to others who want a one-stop place for all their accessories.
The shell was actually harder than I expected. What I didn't expect was all of the velcro. The pouches are attached with velcro on the back, and the netting has a velcro divider. It will not fit under my car seat. I can fit it in my glove compartment if I take a few things out. I use it for my garmin 3750, which had kind of an iphone screen that reviews said was sensitive. The gps is already in a smaller case by itself, but I was looking for a bigger case for charger and all. It can all fit in the netting. I leave the pouches in for extra cushioning. I gave it four stars because it is a hard shell, and it fits everything I need it to which is why I bought it. - Garmin Case - Case - Gps Carrying Case - Garmin Nuvi Case'

Edible Gardening - gift idea, gardening
Finally a delicious, scrumptious book about what's living with the People!
We don't want want to water grass, we're not able to water grass, we're not allowed to water grass! BUT, we are allowed, and able (Where there is a will, there is a way) to water what we eat. We grow food we like to eat, we like to eat the food we grow.
Ivette has dug deep, gone the extra mile, to entice us all to grow (more) food. And she takes us by the hand, not in a Higher Power way, but as a friend, showing us just how much there is out there you can eat!
I love the pictures, I love the suggestions of what to plant, and I love the combinations in the photos.
The book is my favorite in the gardening section, hands down. Ok, I might be a bit biased; I just planted my 30th apple tree, in the front yard, but even if I had knee high grass, I would be tempted to give this food thing a try. ( It's not going away, it's not a fad, you know...)
There is something in the book for everyone: the novice, the advanced, the lunatics (me) and I learned things about plants I grew! Did you know, for example, that you can eat the flowers of garlic after it blooms, that you can eat the leaves of nasturtiums, and that you can grow enough food for your family on a dime in the curb, if needed?
If you ever thought of trying to grow something you would like to eat, start here. You'll skip the first 3 years of the learning curve.
Whether you want to read it cover to cover, or start by looking at the pictures, or find your favorite plant first, you will have fun and many AHA- moments. Just DO IT!
Thanks Ivette, you are Earth Mama! The Edible Front Yard: The Mow-Less, Grow-More Plan for a Beautiful, Bountiful Garden
This book makes you want to get out there and garden! Beautiful, colorful and inspiring photos, helpful tips, written in an accessible manner - Ms. Soler has thought of everything you'll need to know and what to consider about transforming your garden space, and it doesn't have to be just in your front yard.
Gardening books of this kind are often (a) less than entertaining to read; (b) impractical; or (c) in favor of making your yard look like a junkyard. I took this one along on an extremely boring business trip and the attendant flight delays and enjoyed it thoroughly. It covers both ornamental edibles and complimentary pure ornamentals; talks about practical issues like where to find hardscape materials at a bargain and why choosing regionally suitable plants is important; and the illustrations (even when built by one of the 3 garden owners featured) don't generally look like a pile of rubbish with plants growing over them, as these DIY-focused books so often do. I was a little disappointed that the author spent a lot of photo space on 3 favored gardens since all 3 gardeners live in the southwest/California area; I would have preferred something more relatable to my area. The principles were good though and I am definitely hanging onto this for reference. The chapter that covered ornamental edibles was great, and included plants suitable to all parts of the country. For future issues or an author's blog (if she has one), it would be great to cross-reference plants by the various categories she provides, such as season, type of edible, soil- and sun requirements and so on, but that's a want, not a need. This is a helpful, informative, easy-to-follow and entertaining book.
I'm a big fan of The Germinatrix (aka Ivette Soler). She does what good garden writers do best--get people into their gardens. Ivette has an infectious enthusiasm for gardening in general but particularly for her topic here, growing edibles right out front where everyone can see them. This book has lots of inspiring design ideas and plans as well as a large selection of recommended plants. Best of all The Edible Front Yard has what many other garden books lack... Ivette! She's a knowledgeable guide and cheerleader for home gardeners everywhere.
Because the book's subtitle refers to a "Plan" for a garden, I expected something a wee bit more practical. But that's just me . . . . I'm an engineer, not an artist. But what gardener wouldn't love to gaze at the gorgeous photographs in this book and imagine "what if"?
I enjoyed using the book's photographs to dream about what my edible front yard might look like if I had buckets of money, plus more tillable land than my modest urban property provides. In my neighborhood, an edible front yard might consist of Swiss chard and an eggplant growing in place of the grass normally found in a 2-foot wide boulevard between the sidewalk and the street.
The landscaping photos are beautiful, showing me what I could have if only I lived on a larger lot (suburbs, maybe?) and had the wealth to hire a landscape architect and a good contractor. But heck, there's no harm in dreaming, is there? This book makes the dreaming even more beautiful.
I was disappointed in the content of this book, as was hoping for more practical design ideas/suggestions. Book was more about discussion of why removal of non edible landscape is desireable. I know that or wouldn't be interested in ripping it all out & replacing all with edible landscaping! LOL! Was just hoping for more concrete ideas on the design of an edible garden. In all fairness however, I was a professional landscaper so this book may be of use to the novice who is not familiar with plants & trees, etc...
I don't often give a five to books. This was well-written. Living in Southern California where the author lives was nice, but I also appreciated how she emphasizes that a front yard can be edible but should not be ugly. My neighbors would not appreciate that. The only reason that I gave this four starts was the price. I would drop it to ten dollars. However, I'll admit that this may be petty. The book is printed with many nice pictures on very nice paper. - Organic Gardening - Gardening - Edible Plants - Gift Idea'

Flooring - flooring stapler, hardwood
I used this stapler to install 350 sq ft of 3/8" hardwood flooring from BellaWood. Had no problems whatsoever. No jams, no misses. I used 1/4" x 1" narrow crown staples although it will accept up to 1 1/4" staples. The shoe makes sure you are perfectly aligned to staple the tongue only at the correct angle. Requires a compressor capable of maintaining 70psi, which even very small compressors should be capable of. Porta-Nailer 461 1-Inch 18-Gauge Narrow (1/4-Inch) Crown Flooring Stapler
I got this stapler yesterday. A couple of drops of lubricant, installed the air hose fitting and hooked up to my compressor. 2 hours later a beautiful floor and not one jam or misfire! This is a super product. Not only does it have the angle head for the flooring, but comes with a staight staple nose too. I used 1 1/4 inch staples, which other staplers of this type do not use. Also came with case and DVD. Great Product!!!
Used this to lay Bellawood 2 1/4" strip, 5/16" thick Brazilian Koa hardwood in about 325 sq/feet.
I'm a do-it your-selfer who'd never done hardwood flooring install before. I couldn't imagine actually doing this job without this tool.
No jams during the project. I had to play with the pressure because at recommended settings it was cracking the lips of my boards. If pressure was too low, the gun would occasionally not shoot a staple. Once I found the correct pressure, it worked like a charm.
Project turned out nice. It would have taken FOREVER without this, the correct tool for the job.
i used it to install 1/2 inch bamboo stranded woven flooring. it worked great once u adjust the pressure to get the right depth to the staple. i'd recommend it for stapling any narrow thickness flooring
ben
I Just finished installing 550 sq. ft. of 3/8" engineered "Peruvian Walnut" flooring from Lumber Liquidators. The Porta-Nailer 461 was the backbone to the job, and I was extreamly happy with the finnished product and the ease of installation with this stapler. I used 1 1/4" galvanized staples purchased from Lowes. You will not be sorry with your decision to buy this {The right Tool for the Job}.
Installed 760 square feet of BR-111 engineered wood, worked flawlessly. Also includes a case. Will accept up to 1-1/4" staples which many flooring staplers in this class do not; BR-111 for example, specifies the use of 1-1/4" staples. Very nice tool.
Knowing that I had a flooring job that was going to take place over multiple weekends, It made more sense cost-wise to just outright by a flooring stapler. After a little online research, I chose the 461 for a couple of reasons. One, was the fact that it could easily be converted to a standard stapler (something few models do). Also, the price point was reasonable.
After finishing the first 200 sq ft. of the project this weekend, I can honestly say that the 461 worked like a champ. After dialing the pressure into 70 PSI, the 461 sailed through the Bruce Engineered hardwood flooring in my kids bedroom. I never had one dry fire, twisted staple, blowout or any other issues whatsoever.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the nailer. My one complaint may be the lousy directions (which don't even specify how to convert the nailer from standard configuration to floor stapler). Aside from that, I'm very happy with its performance.
All in all, I'm happy with the Porta-Nailer 461. I just finished 550 square feet of Bamboo flooring for which I used 3000 staples. I didn't have a single staple jam even when I mistakenly put one staple right on top of another.
One of the appealing features of the 461 is that it takes a 1.25 inch staple. Most 18 gauge staplers won't take anything longer than an inch. The extra length is important for 1/2 inch flooring. (The printed material that came with the stapler only talked about using one inch staples, but the sticker on the stapler itself said that it takes up to 1 1/4 inch staples.)
The instructions were a little weak in other areas also. Though they are very thorough in describing the safety features and how to use the stapler safely, they didn't explain how to install the flooring foot. However, it only took me about a minute to figure it out and get it together. The instructions describing how to load the staples apparently described a different, perhaps older, model. But it was easy enough to figure out how to load the staples, even though the system is a bit different from the average stapler.
The flooring foot is a bit small, so it takes a little concentration to make sure it is seated correctly on the tongue of the board. That may slow down the work a bit at first until you get a good feel for the process. (I'm not sure the foot of any other 18 gauge stapler is any better.)
Also, the stapler sometimes bent the top of the staple over. Never really figured out why that was happening. It may have been a result of me not having the stapler perfectly seated on the tongue (see the note above about the small flooring foot.) Or it may have been the result of quality of the staples. Or it may have had something to do with the hardness of the boards and grain patterns in the boards. Because I was nailing 1/2 solid hardwood, I suspect any stapler might have trouble with an 18 gauge staple. That is a pretty light gauge to go through through a hard wood.
It wasn't a huge issue. For those staples, I just had to have a nail set handy to tap the staple top down into the tongue so the next board would fit tight. I can imagine, however, that a flooring contractor might have been a bit peeved at having to take the time to do that.
My review may sound a bit negative, but I really was satisfied with the machine. The stapler itself seems to be solid and well built. And it got the job done without damaging the wood. I can recommend the tool. - Stapler - Construction Staplers - Flooring Stapler - Hardwood'

Abundant Female Nudity - ben affleck, skinny dipping
After trashing "Pearl Harbor" last year and "The Sum of All Fears" this year, I felt the pangs of guilt telling me I was picking on local boy Ben Affleck. Therefore, to appease my conscience, I decided to review a Ben Affleck film I enjoy - John Frankenheimer's "Reindeer Games". "Reindeer Games" is just about the most unremarkable, low-stakes thriller you could ever expect to see, featuring all the obvious twists, all the obvious turns, and set in locations and in pursuit of prizes that do not exactly get the viewer buzzing with excitement. What makes the film work, in its own modest way, are the director and the cast. Frankenheimer is covering old territory here, but it is like watching a veteran baseball player at the plate or in the field - you've seen it a thousand times before but it is still fun to watch. Frankenheimer knows how to edit his films just right, and he always gets a kinky, dark edge out of all his scripts. "Reindeer Games" is no exception, and one of the DVD bonus features regarding differences between the film and this director's cut really lays out why Frankenheimer should be allowed to present the material as he sees fit. The film has just enough jarring moments that, even though you've seen the typical twists and betrayals before, Frankenheimer keeps it compelling and interesting. The cast, too, rises above the pedestrian heist plot, tackling the film enthusiastically. The movie does not ask them to do too much, so they have fun with what they have. Ben Affleck goes into smartmouth mode, familiar territory, but puts it to amusing use as a criminal roped into doing a job he wants no part of. One of the more amusing repeat gags involves his quest for some pecan pie, either a subtle nod or lift of Bruce Willis' cappucino quest in "Hudson Hawk". Charlize Theron is alternating sweet and petulent as his would-be girlfriend. Gary Sinise, Clarence Williams, and Danny Trejo are good, menacing fun as the heavies. Perhaps the biggest fun is Dennis Farina hamming it up as the casino manager who brings Vegas-style class by operating a bar that offers both Coke and Pepsi. A film like "Reindeer Games" moves along quickly. It has to or the inertia will allow the viewer to realize just how silly the film is. Frankenheimer keeps the film busy enough to keep the viewer curious and engaged, while the cast does a good job of providing enough quirks and quality performances so that the film isn't forgotten two seconds after the credits start rolling. "Reindeer Games" is not deep, ambitious, or original, but it is a comfortable and quality cover of heist films past. Reindeer Games (Director's Cut)
I didn't think Reindeer Games was anywhere near as mediocre as the critics thought it was. As a matter of fact, I loved the film, and it's certainly much better than that other much overrated plot twisting thriller Wild Things (a mostly suspenseless which might hold some sort of cinematic record for most plot twists ever). The film is about a car thief named Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck). His best friend, Nick, who has a pen pal named he plans on meeting after he's released-which is also the same day Rudy will be let out-is killed during a food fight. Rudy, in a very tough decision, decides to pretend he's Nick and meets the beautiful Ashley, Nick's pen pal. At first, everything seems to be going right for him for the first time, until Ashley's brother Gabriel arrives and demands Rudy, whom he thinks is Nick, to help him and his band of cronies rob a casino since Nick used to work as a security guard there. Now, Rudy has to try to pretend he's Nick and convince Gabriel he knows how to get in the casino.Reindeer Games is an exhilarating thriller, with plenty of action and humor. There are some exciting moments and the film is very suspenseful. Affleck's initial guise as Nick is quite funny, along with the moments thoughout the film that he has to convince Sinise he's who he says he is, be that Rudy Duncan or Nick Cassidy. The film features Ben Affleck in a great performance as the hero who we all root for. Gary Sinise chews the scenery as the villain and makes up for the travesty that was Snake Eyes though he still has to do another work to atone for Mission to Mars (he should have also had the lieutenant Dan look in Mission, at least that would have solidified that film's camp value, but no, the Lt. Dan look had to go to Don Cheadle). Charlize Theron is fairly good as the love interest for Affleck. This is one of those films that really keeps you guessing, with plot twists that are surprising, especially a big twist at the end that nobody seemed to have ever been able to have guessed correctly. You can never really tell what's going to happen next, or who's going to come out on top in the end. Will Affleck get out of the whole situation alive? Can he keep pretending he's somebody he's not? And what is the twist in the finale? Watch the film and find out.
One thing is to suspend belief, another is to suspend one's intelligence, which is what this movie requires. This movie is so bad, it is actually funny, at times. Replete with a bad script and bad acting, it revolves around a convoluted plot that has so many twists and turns, as to simply not be believable. The casting is bad, as well. Ben Affleck as a hardened convict? Come on...give me a break! He is simply not a good enough actor to play against type, charming though he be.Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck), a professional car thief who has just spent six years in the can, is looking forward to being released and returning to his family for Xmas. His cell mate of six years, Nick, is likewise looking forward to his own simultaneous release, so that he can join his beautiful girl friend and pen pal, Ashley (Charlize Theron), about whom he has talked to Rudy incessantly for years and to whom he has read all her letters. Unfortunately, two days before Nick's and Rudy's release, Nick is stabbed, ostensibly to death. When Rudy leaves prison, he sees the beautiful Ashley waiting for Nick. Having heard all about her for years and feeling like he knows her, Rudy assumes Nick's identity, and hooks up with her. Unbeknownst to Rudy, Ashley has an evil brother (Gary Sinise). When Rudy meets him, somewhat unceromoniously, he forces Rudy to become part of a casino robbery, because he believe Rudy to be Nick and is counting on Nick's prior knowledge of the casino to help them plot the robbery. When Rudy confesses to not being Nick, Sinise does not believe him, and Rudy is forced to use his wits to stay alive. However, the twists and turns continue. If you think the brother is evil, the viewer finds out that he has nothing on his sister, Ashley. Unfortunately, it gets so unbelievable, as to be ludicrous, and the movie spirals out of control. Like I said, it's so bad, it's funny. Rent it, Don't buy it. - Abundant Female Nudity - Skinny Dipping - Ben Affleck - Christmas Movie'

Sawzall Blades - milwaukee sawzall, demolition
These are the toughest blades I have ever used. I am remodeling an old house. To facilitate installing insulation and wiring I am removing the plaster over plasterboard exterior walls but keeping the ceiling and interior partitions intact. This requires cutting the embedded wire lath corner reinforcement. This task is brutal on blades, a 14 foot long wall requires a cut 30 foot long with the blade plunging past the wire into the supporting wood, not to mention cutting through about 1-1/2" of rock hard plaster/cement.
These blades can take it. They refuse to break. I bend them like a pretzel, lay them on a 2x4, hammer them back straight and continue cutting. I would not have believed this was possible if I had not done it. I don't think you could buy a better blade at any price. Milwaukee 49-22-1129 12-Piece Ultimate Demolition Sawzall Blade Set
Milwaukee makes a great reciprocating saw, and it is known in the trades as a Sawzall. Most people know this, but many might not know they also make great reciprocating saw blades.(They work in all brands of reciprocating saws) As the owner of 6 reciprocating saws, I have used alot of blades. I have come to this conclusion-There are only a handful of good blades out there:Milwaukee is tops, Lennox a close second, and Bosch are Okay if you can find them.
This is a great value for anyone looking for some serious reciprocating saw blades. I purchased these at Home Depot, but they are also available at Amazon for slightly less, but I had a gift card to use up...
Included with this blade set are (2) 5/8 TPI, 6" Ax Super Sawzall Blade, (2) 5/8 TPI, 9" Ax Super Sawzall Blade, (2) 8 TPI 6" Super Sawzall Wrecker Blade (2) 14 TPI 9" Torch Super Sawzall Blade & (4) 14 TPI 6" Torch Super Sawzall Blade, and a Durable Canvas Pouch For Storing blades Between Uses.
The Ax is a great blade for wood cutting applications. It is a thicker blade (.062 vs .035 for most standard blades)that really stands up to cutting the tough stuff. Nail embedded wood is no problem for this bade. It will outlast many other brands due to the extra thickness and bi-metal construction. Having the 2 sizes of this blade is a nice touch. The 9 inch size works well for cutting up bigger lumber, such as headers and railroad ties. For most general demo, the 6 inch blade will be all you need.
The Torch blades are for cutting metal. Again, they are thicker(.045) and taller than the standard blade. These blades were a lifesaver when I took down the old chain link fence around my property and had alot of post to cut into smaller sections to fit in the trash can. Again, you get 2 sizes, 6 and 9 inch.
The wrecker is a crossover blade. It cuts both wood and metal. There is only a 6 inch size of this blade in this kit.
One of the cool things about this kit is the storage pouch. It will easily accept more blades and longer blades as your blade collection increases. I have a pouch that my brother in law gave to me after he used the blades up and I was able to fit 10 12 inch blades in each section. I like that it rolls up securely, and fits nicely in my Sawzall case.
Built like a TANK..Demolition is the correct name..I used Lennox blades in the past. It was time to change blades so I bought the Milwaukee blades. Wow, what a difference, they are built to take it....This will be my blade of choice in the future...Perfect product TOUGH....An easy 5 star rating...
Purchased the blade pack with my saw from Amazon....started demolishing my kitchen (1950's era) which means a mixture of very solid 2x4's and 16d nails under a layer of plaster/rockboard(5/8") as well as solid metal corner supports. These kitchens were well engineered! Anyway, sawing thru this material, I wore out two blades in about 20 minutes of work (maybe 8' of cutting). The teeth were worn off and when I would hit a nail, teeth were actually broken off. Previous reviewers had expressed much better peformance. I will say that I did not expect blades to last long thru this type of use...I just wanted to express a more realistic assessment of their performance.
I purchased this for use with a cordless Ryobi 18V reciprocating saw, and they work fine. I haven't had cause to use the metal or combo blades, but the "Ax" blades have been useful making rough cuts in lumber. I used it several times in constructing a child's play area when I needed to make a large cut in a place too awkward for a circular saw (OK, perhaps not the most professional use of a saw, but it works and leaves a fairly clean cut).
What these blades are not good for is pruning green wood, which as it turns out is what I mainly use my reciprocating saw for. For that, Milwaukee sells packs of an amazingly effective green blade which will zip through living wood with a minimum of vibration.
The hard case the blades come in is adequate, but not a good sorting solution. I would have preferred a soft roll carrying case.
As a professional single family home builder / remodel contractor, I use Milwaukee blades on an almost daily basis. These blades keep straight well, hold an edge for a long time, and cut through just about anything. Pair it with the Milwaukee SuperSawzall, and never look back. Most of the reviews here complaining of short blade life seem to be trying to cut old plaster walls with them, and I agree that this set is not made for that. If you're cutting framing, any kind of wood, including that with nails, use the axe. For metal pipe, I beams, screws, bolts, and other metal, use the Torch. If you need to cut old-style lath and plaster (which is made with cement and sand, not gypsum like today's walls) get a masonry blade or a carbide tipped blade. It is important to have the right tool for the job, and for a lot of jobs, this is it.
I do demolition for a living. Commercial and residential. I've used every saw, and every blade on the market. There are days I use the reciprocating saw all day. The Axe and Torch are the best blades out there. No blade is indestructible and they do wear out eventually, but these blades give you the most for your money. - Sawzall - Sawzall Blades - Milwaukee Sawzall - Demolition'

Fraudulent - usb printer cable, printer cable
Don't pay $25.00 at Staples or Circuit City for this cable to attach your new printer to your computer. It's insulting enough that the manufacturer's no longer include a cable so that you are ready to print 'out of the box', claiming that new printers provide several ways to print including ethernet, wireless, and USB. Give us a break. So you are either stuck buying the cable they offer, which is priced 10 times what it needs to be, or you can plan ahead and order the exact same thing for 1/10th the cost, without the name brand. All cables are made by the same few companies, and are branded for retail outlets. They are made of the same materials, there's not much to add, unless you want gold-plated or a Monster cable. Save your money. This has been working perfectly for six months. The 10 foot length is perfect when you need to set the printer up a little further away from your desk, sometimes the 6' length doesn't give you the flexibility to reach a desktop sitting on the floor, to a printer placed on a top shelf of a computer desk hutch (found that out the hard way!). Fast service from this company, no complaints. Cables To Go 13400 USB 2.0 A Male to B Male Cable, White (9.8 Feet/ 3 Meters)
I've had this cable for 3 months now, connecting an external hard drive to my USB hub.
No problems have come up so far. It's been 100% reliable.
The bright white color makes the cable look very clean and pretty, which is something I can't say for any of the gray and blue cable's I've used until now.
Definitely will repurchase when I need to.
"USB Device not recognized" is more common than an actual connection with this cable, but it is not nearly as common as a complete lack of any communication at all. On the rare occasions that it actually works, though, it works fine.
"Ordered a printer USB 2.0 cable from Cmple and it did not work, my printer would not print. I kept getting a pop up on my computer saying it did not recognize the USB connection from this cable. Put my old cable cable back and the printer worked just fine. Contacted Cmple and they said they would refund my money. It also took a long time to receive this cable after I ordered it. Be careful when ordering these low priced cables.
I used this to hook my new Canon Pixma MP970 to my computer - worked just fine - $8 inc. Shipping from AntOnline - they gave me fine service. Why pay $35 - 40 at Best Buy, etc. I hate to say it but if Best Buy were even reasonable, I would use them - But $35 is ridiculous when I only had to pay $2 to accomplish my goal. I wish there was work around gasoline this easy... - Printer Cable - Usb - Usb Printer Cable - Cables'

fitness ball - fitness ball
I got the 10 lb ball and the weight is accurate on my digital scale. The handles on the side are convenient for any exercise that you would have to grip the ball.
My only complaint is that the black color seems to rub off the ball. The gloves I use to handle the ball and the carpet I store the ball on are now slightly black. Body Solid Tools BSTDMB8 8-Pound Dual Grip Medicine Ball
I used one of these (sans handles) in a gym every other day for a year as part of my ab workout. Once I left the gym due to moving and using the apt. complex gym, this was one item I was missed (along with a bosu).
Great addition to my home gear.
I've been working out with this ball for a couple of months now, and I'm not at all disappointed with my purchase. I could tell as soon as I removed it from the package that this was a high quality item... not cheap and poorly made like some of the other medicine balls I've used. The grips are nice and comfortable and it can take a beating. It cost a little more than I originally wanted to pay, but it will without-a-doubt pay off in the long run.
The dual grip medicine ball is an excellent product for your at-home workouts. This was recommended to me by a personal trainer and I really like the ball. It does smell strongly of rubber, so you may want to air it a while before use.
I really like the construction of the ball, but I ultimately found it unusable because of the overpowering smell. Be warned, you will literally be knocked over by the odor when you open the box, and it does not go away. The manufacturer should consider a new source for the materials in these products, because this outgassing cannot be good for anyone, especially someone working out and breathing in these toxins.
Having the handles on the side is great. The overall size of the product, however, is a slight drawback. I find that it's a little larger than I had expected and would have liked the overall circumference of the ball to be a little more compact than what it is. Nevertheless, I do not regret the purchase at all.
If you do not like to go to the gym (that's me), or cannot get to the gym as often as you would like to, well, this is the perfect addition to your workout. No need to fiddle around with the loose weights, everything you need is right at hand. Great for the beginner, intermediate or expert workout maniacs. - Fitness Ball'
