Small Magnetic Dry Erase Board

I wanted a more attractive upscale looking whiteboard for the fridge, and this fit the bill. The problems? The magnets stick onto the cardboard on the back, but the plastic rim is thicker than the magnets, so the magnets don't touch the metal of the fridge. They still mostly work, but it makes a much weaker copnnection so the board will fly off if the fridge door is slammed. If you buy this you should mount the magnets with some double sided foam tape which will push them out further. Also the pen holder sticks out past the rim in the back so it doesn't sit well. Other than there two significant flaws, the board is great. Board Dudes Metalix Magnetic Dry Erase Board, 8.5 x 11 Inches (35002-4)

After owning this whiteboard for one day, I was really unhappy with this whiteboard. The surface of the whiteboard has been thoroughly scuffed up and discolored after only writing/erasing on 4 times! The back of it is made of thin cardboard with a black made in china ink stamped on it poorly thrown together with low quality material. Very disappointed.

It's a nice litle board, my nephews and I try to play picture nary with and that guess what I'm drawing game, I found out I'm not good at drawing at all. The magnets are strong enough to hold the board in the fridge. I like I do recommended.

No cons.'

Pencil Sharpeners

Before I buy anything, I do a lot of research on it. A lot. So this Stanley sharpener came to my attention. I needed for my 7th grade classroom and if I were ever going to invent something and check it for durability, I'd put it in a 7th grade classroom for about a month. If it can last that long, you can bet it'll last just about forever.

I've had several manual sharpeners in my classroom, you know, the type you screw to the wall. They don't hold up. One was torn from its stem, the base still screwed to the wall. Another had its handle bent so much that when you went to sharpen a pencil, you'd have to crank it in an oval instead of a circle.

I didn't really want to spend too much for a sharpener, since my classes have a "reputation" for how they treat prior sharpeners. But the Stanley LOOKED heavy-duty enough. And Stanley tools are pretty rugged, right? Besides, the only other choice that seemed like it might hold up was an Xacto one, but that was over $100! I am a school teacher, after all.

So I bought this Stanley Bostich EPS12HC SuperPro 6. What sold me was that it could could take all pencil sizes and it boasted of a motor so rugged, that it actually had a FAN to cool it down! It had suction cups for feet to keep young 7th grade bodies that throw their weight against their pencils from pushing it off the table. It looked as if it could sharpen colored pencils too, something that always jammed other electric sharpeners. The only drawback I could see was it didn't really have an auto-stop feature, you had to "feel" it as being sharpened as you were sharpening your writing instrument. Oh well. Let's take a risk.

This machine is the new Class Pet. It does everything it promises and more. The kids LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. It's fast and the blades are sharp. Why, because the container is see-through, the kids actually empty it when it gets full of pencil shavings too. They've gotten over grinding pencils down to stubbs.

The only drawback is that it sometimes sharpens a pencil's wood along with the graphite, so that you either have to peel it away with a fingernail, or put it back in and twist the pencil. No big deal either way.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this machine for you. It doesn't matter if you're not a teacher - I'd get one for my home even. Worth every red cent!

UPDATE - 1 year later.

OK, so as I mentioned above, if you ever want to check the durability of nearly anything, put it in a 7th grade classroom for a year. Here's the result of having the Stanley Bostich EPS12HC used by seventh graders for 9 months.

At first, it was a wonderful machine: it sharpened pencils to a pin-point, it could handle colored pencils (something that would cause other sharpeners to bog down). But then Monica jammed her stub of a pencil into the sharpener and it got stuck. I had to use a paperclip to slide what was left of her pencil out from between the sharpening gears, after taking out the shavings bin and getting to the gears from underneath. But it was never quite the same after that. Maybe the blades grew dull; I don't know. What happens now though, is that when it sharpens pencils, it sharpens the WOOD around the point, bringing the lead AND the wood together to a sharpened spear. If you don't have fingernails to chip away the wood to get to the lead, forget using the pencil.

Also, it seems to have given up trying to get colored pencils sharp. I'm not sure why this fine-looking machine is going the way of all pencil sharpeners in my classroom. I'll see if maybe its the blades that need replacing (after only ONE YEAR?!), but that seems unlikely. Stay tuned!

Well, this is, I'm sorry to write, the final review on this pencil sharpener. It's given up the ghost and I've given up on it. So much so that I actually went out and bought a similar version made by X-acto. And I did not buy it from Amazon for the simple reason that, for less than $10, I could buy a one year, if-it-breaks-bring-it-in-and-get-a-new-one warranty. How can a 7th grade teacher beat that?! So, sorry, Stanley Bostich EPS12HC SuperPro 6, our relationship is now over.... Stanley Bostitch EPS12HC SuperPro 6 Commercial Pencil Sharpener, 7.5"h x 9"d x 5"w, gray, 1 Unit

I bought this for my classroom, after spending $20 on a new sharpener just about every month. (It still amazes me how often students have to sharpen their pencils) This sharpener is INCREDIBLE and indestructable. It's so quiet and very fast. I do a 10 pack of pencils in about 1 minute. It definitely seems like it's going to last many years...not months. I like the auto shut off feature because you can hear when their pencil is done. The dial to select a different size also comes in handy with some of the fancy pencils or thick pencils. Would HIGHLY recommend this sharpener! Worth every single penny

This is a very heavy duty pencil sharpener. My children have burned out several inexpensive sharpeners, so I wanted to find a very heavy duty sharpener. I bought this and it wonderful. It has its own fan to cool the engine. This means that when my son sharpens all of his colored pencils, the engine happily complies. No funny smells or "sick engine" sounds.

I bought it on sale for about $80 and have been using it heavily for almost 6 months. Since the cheaper sharpeners run about $30 and we have burned out 3 in 3 years, I am looking at it as an investment.

excellent sharpener. bought for my dad who has arthritis in his hands and he can use easily. It is a drag to empty as the plastic reservoir for shavings does not slide in and out without A LOT of effort.

I purchased this for our homeschool classroom after getting blisters from sharpening colored pencils by hand. We had used a battery powered one but it never worked well and completely stopped working after just a few months.

The good:

- it's fast, really fast

- it handles pencils of all sizes, including the huge 'my first' pencils and tri-writes

- it's powerful enough to sharpen dozens of pencils without stopping to let it cool down

- it handles colored pencils with ease and doesn't clog

- the shavings bin is large and lasts us through a solid month without emptying and doesn't slide out if bumped or tipped

- it's super sturdy, it's fallen on the floor many times and is still going strong; I can see it lasting through a decade or more of frequent use

The not so good:

- it's fast and doesn't turn off on it's own when the pencil is sharpened and is so powerful that it can eat through an entire pencil in 10 seconds if you're not careful

- it's too powerful for me to feel comfortable allowing young children to use it, I leave it unplugged for safety the same way I unplug the paper shredder after each use, an annoyance so I only use it when I have several pencils that need sharpening at once

- it sharpens far up on the pencil, no neat little point but a full inch of exposed wood with a super sharp point; doesn't bother me with colored pencils but I often sharpen writing pencils by hand so they'll last longer

- sharpens well when used very quickly, maybe 1/2 a second to 1 second but makes the pencil uneven if left in for more than a second

- it's really big and bulky with enough weight that it can't be left on top of a bookshelf because the cord can be pulled on and it could hit a child on the head, needs to be on a low shelf if used in a home or classroom with toddlers or preschoolers (which means it must be unplugged in case they stick their fingers in)

- must be plugged in and has a short cord which limits where it can be put, unlike battery powered sharpeners that can be put anywhere'

Shower Storage - shower caddies, shower storage

Very nice caddy; stays where you want it; holds a lot of bath equipment, even your bath scrunchies and other items that need hanging. Since our shower is installed quite high, it's a little high up even for me at 5'7", so I'd say it's a good stretching exercise as well. InterDesign Twigz Shower Caddy, Bronze

This holder is very pretty fits my shower head nice. The only draw back i see is the paint it feels like it might rust, so I'm going to have my husband re-paint them (i ordered 2) with rust proof paint before we use them. They are to pretty to let them rust. But worth the money. Just re-paint before youuse it so it will last. HAPPY SHOWERING

I got this for the shower in my home that I share with three other people. I like the leaves on the holder--they act like hooks I can use all over the hanger. It's big enough for all our various items... That's saying a lot for a house with two 20-something women and two 20-something men... Only thing is, the suction cups are about 1/2 inch too high to be useful in regards to grout placement. The brushed bronze is a nice touch!

This item is just what I was looking for. A functional caddy in bronze to match my bath fixtures. I was more impressed with it when it actually arrived than the pictures, product info., and comments led me to expect.

I bought this when my husband started to remodel our bathroom. It fits nice and the suction cups keep it from moving around. I do wish it was a tad longer. Not much fits in the bottom basket unless you lay it on it's side.

I like the product, but it did not give dimensions on the website, so I was unsure of what I was going to get. It is pretty, but it could be longer. The lower tray is not real tall and therefore you can not really put shampoo bottles on it. The top tray will fit bottles if they are not oversized.

I needed to replace my old soap scummy caddy in chrome. Got new shower fixtures in bronze, so I wanted something to match. This fit the bill. I like the design on it and the price was right. Holds all but my one big bottle of shampoo, which I keep on the ledge. So far it's holding up well.

This shower caddy is fantastic. I searched for a long time for one that looked functional, yet had a distinct style that matched my bathroom (fall colors). This is the perfect fit and looks fantastic!! - Bath Shower Caddy - Organization - Shower Storage - Shower Caddies'

Kindle 2 Power Adapter - charger, power adapter

This product is a complete waste of money. The adapter that comes with the Kindle is already for 100 - 240V. You pay an extra $20 for the European style plug on the end. If you already own a voltage adapter kit or a universal plug, you don't need this at all, it's just another thing to carry when you travel. Of course it is my own fault for not realizing that, like all electronics these days, the kindle adapter would be universal. Do not buy this! Amazon Kindle EU (European Union Universal) Power Adapter [Fits Kindle and Kindle DX]

In order to load your Kindle's battery, just attach the cable included to a USB port of any computer nearby. Simple as that.

If you want to use your 220 volt wall socket, you can buy a USB power adapter from every electronics store for about $5. This power adapter / cable -combo from Amazon did cost me $31 (including shipping to Europe).

Also, if You have bought any mobile phone, GPS navigator or such a device lately, chances are that you already have one of these.

To summarize: This gadget is nice, but don't waste your money on it.

Somebody else had written in a review that this item is good but should have been free. That is the basic problem. Assuming you are located in Europe (otherwise you would not be very interested in a "European Union Universal" power adapter), then this thing costs a lot of money with shipping. Might vary depending on where you are, but I had to pay around 35 Euro.

And that is the problem. The product is good. But, it is nothing more than a usb-cable for Kindle (same as already included with the kindle itself) together with a standard 220v to usb converter.

Short and concise; Ok product, but a complete waste of money to pay 35 Euro for it.

As was mentioned by other reviewers the adapter that comes with US version of Kindle supports both 110 (US) and 220V (European), so strictly speaking you do not need to buy the European version. Definitely not for 20$. Still if you buy it together with Kindle you get this item for just 5$, and this makes perfect sense. I wish the product page has explicitly mentioned that, I've almost missed 15$ discount. Amazon customer support was as usual extremely helpful and efficient - they helped me to get the discount after the order was placed.

I bought this because I thought I needed a specific power adapter for the kindle. I didn't need it at all. The USB connector to the kindle would have sufficed - I only needed an adapter that accepts USB plugs as well (which I have plenty of at home for different countries!). I am disappointed that I didn't realise it before and paid $20 for the adapter! I am living in Europe so to send it back makes no sense - if you have power adapters that has its own USB port, then you do not need this expensive adapter!

This is the third Kindle I buy and I cannot beleive that the EU power adapter is not yet part of the package. If it is included in the device's price in the USA and in the UK, why not in Portugal or Spain ? - Power Adapter - Kindle 2 Power Adapter - Kindle - Charger'

Leggings - health, quality

I BUY A LOT OF DANSKIN TIGHTS LIKE THIS AND THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. SOME FABRIC IS SHINIER AND DOESN'T HAVE AS MUCH COTTON. I LIKE THE ONES THAT AREN'T AS SHINEY AND MORE COTTONY FEELING.

THESE ARE LIKE THAT AND I FIND THEM MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE. I'D LIVE IN THEM IF I COULD.

Update September 2009:

Still loving these but sure wish the seller would carry more black ones!! Every time I come to buy black they are out, and black is the only color I ever buy.

UPDATE NOV. 2010: DON'T buy these!!!!!! I have been watching to see if these would ever come back on Amazon. I haven't seen them here in years so I was thrilled to find them again and ordered two. I've barely worn a pair and they are already PILLING in the crotch area between the legs. THE NEW ONES ARE NOT LIKE THEY USED TO BE!! I still have several that I purchased from Amazon years ago for which I wrote this original review, so I pulled them out to compare. NO PILLING, and the old ones are also thicker. I held them up to the light and stretched them to compare. For $25 I expected lasting quality and extremely disappointed in this product! I will tell you that the ones which I raved about were made in USA, and these now are made in TAIWAN.

OLD ONES: 92% COTTON

8% LYCRA

NEW ONES: 55% COTTON

35% POLYESTER

10% LYCRA

It is very easy to see that these new ones will not be holding up. Obviously it is cheaper for them to produce leggings made with Polyester. I just saw something on tv about the expense of cotton. I would rather pay more for cotton and get something that's going to last! My new rating for these is 0 stars. Danskin Women's Cotton Legging,Black,Medium

Enough spandex to not look like opaque tights, soooo very comfy and I live in them as soon as I am home from work. Off come the suit or slacks and on go the ankle pants and a large T shirt or sweatshirt.

This is my favorite piece of clothing- so comfortable I wish I soulc wear them all the time-tehy arrived super fast- they have already been washed many times and they are holding up beautifully! I highly recommend them.

Comfortable. Good fit. Right length. Good price. These were just what I was looking for. I use them for figure skating. They would work for any kind of work out or as leggings. They are tight fitting.

I am a die-hard leggings wearer and I know these are the best there are. They are comfortable, never fall down or get baggy and they retain their dark black color. They also have a good amount of spandex, so they suck you in a little bit without being constrictive. I've been wearing them for years, and they are durable, as well. Only caveat - I wash them in the washing machine on cold, but then I hang them to dry. They will last for years and years. Highly recommended.

The Danskin legging is the best quality available. There is no pilling, no bagging, and the fit is terrific. They are comfortable, and easy-care (just throw in the washer and dryer). I'm wearing mine for the second year, and they still look new. I would definitely recommend them.

Danskin Cotton/Lycra Legging Womens

The Danskin leggings that I bought for a friends birthday have her ecstatic. They are so well made and comfy. She uses then even at the gym. "Well adpated for my workouts", she says. Gotta get them if you enjoy comfort and quality!!! *****

I know Danskin has been around for a long time so I expected a better quality product than what I got. I'm training for a marathon and mainly needed a legging where the seams would not come apart in the inner thigh area. When you're running long distances, as most runners know, if you have rips in that area you can get very bad chafing which is very painful. The seams in the leggings came apart in less than a month. As a result I had to adjust my stride to ease the pain, which hurt my back, feet and made running seem at least twice as hard. Since I switched to pants that don't have rips in the seams running is starting to feel normal again. I even got chafing from these leggings before the seams started to rip - something about the way it's sewn together. - Danskin - Quality - Fitness - Health'

Applied Psychology - mindfulness, zen

I came upon this book accidentally in the new cook book section at the Carnegie library. I took a glance and the contents seemed interesting. So on my driving home, I listened to the guided mindfulness exercises CD that came with the book. This was not what I expected--my way home felt like a transformed journey to self discovery: the exercisers were simple, practical; the voice soothing; the effect, however, was profound. I was intrigued by how was it possible that our body would know the foods that we need at a particular point in time? I eagerly plunged into the book and read all about the seven kinds of hungers. I was very pleased for the insight I gained from the reading. This book inspires. The writing is lucid and thoughtful. Mindful Eating: A Guide to Rediscovering a Healthy and Joyful Relationship with Food--includes CD

As a consequence of the American search for the perfect healthy diet, we have developed a love-hate relationship with food. Confusion reigns about what foods we are to eat and which we are to avoid. Our reliance on scientific evidence has simply added to the confusion. We can't even agree if we are naturally carnivore, omnivore, or herbivore.

"Mindful Eating," written by physician and Zen teacher Jan Chozen Bays, provides a way back to sane eating. Bays does not prescribe what we are to eat but provides gentle guidance about how to eat. This book provides numerous exercises to help us be present to ourselves and our food.

Bays teaches us to become aware of our seven forms of hunger--eye, nose, mouth, stomach, cellular, mind, and heart hungers. Each hunger satisfies legitimate needs. Bays instructs us with understanding and humor on how to recognize and satisfy each hunger. Her approach is a return to an intimate and joyful relationship with food. Stop dieting. Read this book and discover how to physically, mentally, and spiritually relate with food and return to sane eating.

This book does an excellent job of exploring all aspects of mindfulness in eating. The book's weakness, and the reason I gave it four stars instead of five, is that mindfulness is not the whole answer to emotional or compulsive eating. It's necessary, but not sufficient. In the recovery method I teach, Normal Eating, mindfulness corresponds to Stage 2, "Reconnecting". But then there are two more stages after that. Dr. Bays even gives examples of people who continue to eat emotionally or compulsively despite awareness of the triggers. That's because awareness isn't enough - there's more work to be done.

I don't think Dr. Bays understands the addictive aspect of compulsive eating, as evidenced by the one wrong note the book struck on page 72 about "going unconscious". She says, "The point of mindful eating is not to forbid ourselves to ever use food in this way." I disagree. That's like saying the point of recovery from alcoholism isn't to forbid the alcoholic from ever taking another drink. Uh, actually, yes it is. Compulsive eaters can't eat addictively in moderation any more than alcoholics can drink in moderation.

"Going unconscious", as Dr. Bays calls it, is the essence of what it means to use food addictively, as she well knows because she discusses binge eating in this section. Not using food addictively has to be a "bottom line" if a compulsive eater is to recover - something you never do. I'm not saying people should never eat just for enjoyment. But eating for enjoyment is not the same as "going unconscious" or numbing out with food. I wrote about this at length in a recent newsletter, "Is Eating to Numb Out Ever Okay?":

[...]

Except for this one quibble, I liked "Mindful Eating" very much. Dr. Bays is a Zen teacher, but the book isn't weighed down with details of Buddhism. Her purpose is not to teach Buddhism, it's to teach mindful eating. And she does a superb job of it.

Most explanations of mindful eating encourage people to focus on the food's appearance, smell, and taste. Bays goes much further, encouraging mindfulness in all aspects of the eating experience, emotional and physical. She lists seven "hungers" - seven areas to survey in yourself as you are eating:

1. Eye (what the food looks like)

2. Nose (what it smells like)

3. Mouth (sensations in the mouth - feel, taste)

4. Stomach (sensations in the stomach - growling, fullness, emptiness)

5. Cellular (the body wisdom that gives you a yen for what you need nutritionally)

6. Mind (your thoughts on what you "should" be eating)

7. Heart (how soothing or comforting the food is to you)

This is an excellent summary of the experience of eating - clear, concise, and thorough. If you practice mindfulness in all these areas when you eat, you will fully reconnect with yourself, and this will put you on the path to recovery.

The author is a physician, so the book also is filled with interesting information about the experience of eating on a physiological level. These details don't come off as ponderous or dense because they're presented through interesting anecdotes from Dr. Bays' practice or personal experience.

"Mindful Eating" is readable, insightful, and full of interesting information. I highly recommend it, with the caveat that lack of mindfulness in eating is not the only reason for emotional or compulsive eating. To stop compulsive eating requires some further steps.

Sheryl Canter

Author of "Normal Eating for Normal Weight"

An excellent book. I came upon this book by chance while browsing through a Yoga magazine and this book was suggested as a newly published book. It looked interesting and while I was at the bookstore, I bought it. I'm so glad I did. It is written in simple humanistic terms explaining the different kinds of hunger we have that we're unaware of and how we view food. Humans truly should only eat when hungry and somehow such a simple truth is overlooked by so many. She explains how we ate as children. The author is a spiritual teacher who explains zen way of eating in a very calm peaceful way. This is an eye opener for all of us trapped in the thought of why most all diets do not work. Play Money

I was very disappointed with this purchase. In the picture it shows every dollar bill up to one hundred. There is no description of how many bills there are or how many of each. There was one 1 dollar bill and one 5 dollar bill. The majority of the bills are 100 dollar bills. I planned on using the money as incentives for the children in my class to earn by doing well. It obviously didn't work. Play Money

Ordered this as a joke gift, a "bag of money" for somebody, and was bummed to see the bills are about 1/4 size of regular money - very little resemblance. In fairness the description does list the dimensions, but I didn't break out my ruler at the time, so buyer beware.

This play money is great for helping kids practice dealing with money. Letting kids play store with play money of real amounts is a fantastic way to help them learn to properly use real money later on.'

Pre-kindergarte - mr potato head, toys

My 4-year-old daughter loves Toy Story and for quite a while had been asking for a Potato Head to go with her Buzz, Woody, Jesse, and Bullseye. Well, we decided to get it for her and it's been quite a disappointment. It's difficult to remove and replace some of the pieces, such as the nose and teeth, and the storage hatch in the back doesn't work well. Overall, it served its purpose and wasn't too expensive, but I was expecting something better--and so was she. Playskool Toy Story 3 Classic Mr. Potato Head

I remember playing with this toy when I was a child. I have now bought this for my 5 yr. old granddaughter. She absolutely LOVES this toy! She plays for 2 hrs. before taking a break with Mr. Potato Head. Putting his eyes, nose, etc. in all possible situations on his potato body.

She LOVES this dramatic playtime. Now, she wants Mrs. Potato Head!

She plays with her Woody and Buzz Lightyear dolls with Mr. Potato Head. Worth getting....

Good for dramatic play and entertains the young mind.My only complaint would be how the back hatch cover connects. It should be hooked on permanently. It comes off from time to time ~ no big deal tho.

I bought this toy for my five year old grandson and he absolutely loves it! He spends hour playing with it. I like the fact that it allows for creativity and is fun for little ones to show off their newest creation.Playskool Toy Story 3 Classic Mr. Potato Head

I was surprised to find the original Mr. Potato Head at such a low price!!!! A major toy retailer offers the same toy

for $30.00. My 2 1/2yr. grandson really loves his "poto", that's what he calls it. This is one of those oldie but goodie

toys, it won't ever go out of style!!!!!

This is the only toy from Toy Story that is as big as you imagine, but its scale will be much larger than most of the collectible toys being offered. The upside is that this is just about the only Toy Story toy (other than the original Slinky Dog) that is reasonably priced. All the other toys are overpriced and in most cases, the price-gouging is ridiculous for the other figures. So this is the genuine article for $10 or less that is as big as you expect it to be, just like in the movie.

Got this for my 4-year old son. He is obsessed with all things Toy Story. He has just about every character from the movies but still needed Mr. Potato Head. He loves making goofy faces; putting the arms where the eyes go, putting the nose in the arm holes. And it was a good price at just under $10. - Mr Potato Head - Pre-kindergarte - Toys - Hasbro'

Hitachi Framing Nailer - nail gun, nailer

This Paslode nail gun is also over priced on here. I purchased this Paslode nail gun from a local Paslode distributor for $269.00. Check with a Paslode distributor for a lower cost. The nail does work very well and has slightly more power than the older model F350 S. Paslode PF350S 2" to 3-1/2" 30° Full / Clipped Head Framing Nailer (502000)

I typically use only Hitachi or Max guns. I needed a new framer in a hurry and couldn't wait for a Max to be ordered out, so it was between the Hitachi and the Paslode. I compared both of them in the store and the Paslode beat the Hitachi hands down. Its beefier, well balanced, fit & finish are superb, and its made in the USA unlike the Hitachi (made in Taiwan). I don't think I'll ever buy Hitachi again. I have a lot of their older models which are well built guns, but the new ones are really cheap looking. They are child's toys compared to the Paslode, and the rep said a lot of guys are having problems with them. Lastly, the Hitachi is lighter than the Paslode, but I'd rather have a gun that can take more abuse. I've used my father's older F-350S PowerMaster and noticed like the other poster stated that this gun is way more powerful. This gun also seems to be better constructed than the previous model. Not one misfire yet; I think this gun is a winner. - Bostitch - Porter-cable - Nail Gun - Nailer'

Whirlpool Water Filter  4396510 - refrigerator water filters, water filter for refrigerator

I have used this filter and find this to be a very good filter for this cartridge type.

These little filters cannot remove everything from your refrigerator water system, you'll need a high quality reverse osmosis system for that.

Recently I found a website* that lists the actual impurities that this 4396510 filter removes, I quote:

* 99.35% of Lead at pH 6.5

* 99.31% of Lead at pH 8.5

* 96.70% of Mercury at pH 6.5

* 91.20% of Mercury at pH 8.5

* 99.93% of Asbestos

* 96.30% of Benzene

* 99.70% of P-Dichlorobenzene

* 99.99% of Cysts

* 85.60% of Atrazine

* 92.96% of Toxaphene

* 93.06% of 2,4-D

* 97.60% of Chlorine

* 99.30% of Turbidity

* 99.90% of Particulates (Class I)

As with all built-in refrigerator water filters, the 4396510 does not remove Fluoride.

The 4396510 cartridge is tested and certified by NSF International to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI Standards 42 & 53.

The other model cartridge (4396508) does not filter quite as much as the '10' model.

We have a Sears Kenmore refrigerator model number 106.53582300 (made by Whirlpool) that we purchased from Sears. It has the round water filter in the base of the refrigerator that should be replaced every year. Sears sends post cards wanting to sell us a filter for $40 plus shipping. After some research we came across this one for less and it works superbly.

Highly recommended to save money over the Sears option.

This is the second batch of these refrigerator water filters I have ordered from Amazon. Any place else you buy them will charge a lot more.

However, I learned something from another review on Amazon that I'd like to pass on: My refrigerator has an indicator light system that supposedly tells when the filter should be replaced. But the indicator lights indicate only the time since they were reset, not the amount of water that has passed through the filter.

Supposedly the filter is good for 400 gallons of water. The refrigerator assumes that by the time six months have passed you will have run 400 gallons of water through the filter. Hence, six months after resetting the indicator light system, it will again show that the filter needs replacing, no matter how much (or how little) water has actually gone through the filter.

Since I use the water dispenser on the refrigerator infrequently, and since I don't use that much ice, that means I have probably been replacing the filter before it really needed to be replaced, based solely on the fact that six months had gone by since I last replaced the filter and reset the indicator lights.

Starting with this batch of filters, I will not replace a filter until the water tastes like the filter isn't doing anything. Your mileage may vary.

We always used the original filters 9010 by Kenmore that you would get at Sears. The prices have gone up to $45 per filter! At first we were leery of how another filter would fit or how the water would taste! These replacement filters went in easier and you can taste the change in the water right away! I highly recommend these filters!

I have a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator and have used sveral brands of replacement water filters.

I have used Kenmore 46-9010

I have used WaterSentinel WSW-1

I have used Whirlpool 4396508

(the filter being rated is the newer version of the older filter above)

The Whirlpool #4396510 is the newer version and does not need to have a gallon of water run through it after installing it (even though I did flush a liter or two through it to get the air out of the system and to ensure no leaks).

What I like about this filter is the following:

1) NSF certified/tested to tests #42 and #53 (not all filters are tested at all or do not test to #53).

2) This filter claims to removes cysts (whatever they are), but again not all filters claim to remove whatever this is... so it must be a capability that this filter or the tests above meet and allow for (again, other brands do not state, so they must not)??

What I like, is that this filter is a name brand filter for $25.00/ea, tested and certfied, ships free as it meets the minimum shipping amount due to being a 2-pack (so I have year's worth of filters since I replace every 6 months as required)... and compared to the lower price of the cheaper filters available, I do not mind paying an extra $7.00/ea for the benefits mentioned above.... for me it is worth it!!!

As mentioned above, I have purchased and used various replacement filters that all seemed to work, but for the money, this filter has all the right specifications, certifications and that it is the new/updated part number to the Whirlpool filter #4396508 which does not require a gallon of water to be run through it flush out any loose carbon particles.

Buy and enjoy.

We bought the OEM at Sears for about $44 + tax, but returned it the next day when we found these here at a much better price. and ordered them. They came right away and seem to be ok. BUT--on the box where the installation instructions are there is NO reminder to take off and save the end cap from the old filter. Naturally I forgot, removed the old one and put the new one in. It did not look right, I saw what the problem was and managed to remove the new one, put on the end cap, and reinstall it. No harm, no foul, but just be careful when you install one of these. Also there was only 1 sticky to place in the refrigerator to let you know the installation/replacement dates---there should have been 2, one for each filter. - Water Filter - Refrigerator Water Filters - 4396508 - Water Filter For Refrigerator'

Power Tool Accessories - power tool accessories, rotozip

I bought the Metal-Cutting XBit to freehand cutting in 0.125" sheet aluminum and found it workable, but barely. The bit could not penetrate the plate to start a cut in the middle of the sheet, requring me to start every cut with a power drill instead. After less than an inch of travel, the bit was clogged with melted aluminum chips. After cleaning the bit with an icepick, I sprayed the surface of the aluminum with WD-40 for cooling and lubrication. By spraying the work area regularly, I was able avoid clogging the bit for several hours of subsequent use. Rotozip XB-MC1 Metal Cutting XBIT - Rotozip - Power Tool Accessories'

Foreign Language - foreign language, textbook

I've studied Latin, German, Japanese, and French using various popular methods. This course with its accompanying audio and workbook materials is the best language course that I have ever attempted on my own. Most self-study language courses are either too simple to be of practical use or focus so much on grammar and sentence construction that they turn into drudgery after a few lessons. Unless the course material is engaging, it's very hard to continue the course with no mid-term or final exams as motivation. Simply put, I enjoyed this course so much that I looked forward to each of my weekly self-study sessions. Allons-y! Le Français par étapes (with Audio CD)

Both in this text and in the exercise book, there is a constant use of words that the student has yet to learn and are often not in the glossary. There are also many mistakes in grammar throughout. The decision to try to introduce slang was poorly made, as the slang that is used is incredibly outdated and, even if it were not now, it would be so in a year. - Textbook - Foreign Language'
