Excellent Value

This book has been a source of endless delight for our young children. In the style of the "Where's Waldo" series, Christian illustrator Daniel Hochstatter has pages of brightly coloured and entertaining pictures. Each page features various various characters or items that the children must find on the page. "Sammy the sheep" and his "shepherd" as well as their companions are hidden somewhere on each page. Two beefs with this edition:1. This omnibus is a collection of four "Seeking Sammy" titles. The organization is somewhat unfortunate, as pages from each separate have been randomly placed alongside each other. However, it must be conceded that each page is an independent challenge, and each page alone offers hours of amusement.2. Some of the illustrations picture scenes from Bible narratives, eg Noah's ark, the dividing of the Red Sea. Hochstatter does this rather disrespectfully, confusing the modern with the ancient. See a jet powered boat with a water skier at the Red Sea is in my view a disrespectful anachronism. However, it must be conceded that with young children who don't realize that this is intending to picture a Bible story, this is not an issue.Nonetheless, the entertainment value of this book makes it most desireable. Very highly recommended! Sammy's Excellent Real-Life Adventures: Character Builders for Kids (A Seeking Sammy Book)'

Pandigital Photo Frame - pandigital, digital picture frame

The Pandigital PAN7000DW 7" digital photo frame is the best digital photo frame I've found yet. I've purchased 4 other models in different sizes from Axion, Phillps, Smartparts, and Opteka. All of these others had various issues (16x9 when I wanted 4x3, didn't always start picture show automatically, buggy software).

The PAN7000DW is reasonably priced (about $65 from Amazon as of 11/9/2009) as compared to the Sony models which are all much more expensive.

The PAN7000DW display is excellent -- showing 800x600 pictures crisply and vividly. The software is very good with a reasonable user interface and useful options. I like displaying my photos using their original dimensions (the optimized view attempts to maximize the amount of display used but will chop off edges to accomplish this) - you can pick the view mode you want.

The frame accurately shows the EXIF photo date/time if you want to display it. It will also optionally show the current time. It has a nice calendar w/ picture view as well as the normal full frame photo view. And it seems to show ALL your photos eventually (I had a strange problem with an Opteka frame not showing all the photos, only a subset). The remote is small and is held on the back of the frame by a magnet. The remote works well (some remotes I've used have buttons that are hard to press or control). The menu structure (frame software) is logical and well arranged.

The clock functionality and auto turn on/off functionality is useful if you have power available to your frame at all times. However, I've hooked my frame up to a motion sensing power strip in my office and the time/date gets whacked when the sensor shuts off for the weekend (the time/date seem to survive for a few minutes or hours without power but not over a weekend). So if you use your frame with a motion sensing powerstrip, forget using the clock/calendar feature.

As I've discovered with many photo frames, if you want to display pictures in a particular order, they must exist in flash memory written down in that order - this is not a visible ordering - it does not depend on file name or file creation time. If you start with a totally empty flash card (or internal frame memory) then it will be the order in which the files are copied to the memory device. Macintosh and Windows file copy routines are the fastest way to copy files but the order in which copying takes place is not under your control if you move a large number of files all at the same time - the operating system parallelizes the copying for speed but this places the pictures in different physical memory order. It is too bad that most photo frames do not allow you to display in creation date order or EXIF date order or even file name order.

The best way to lay down the photos in sequence is to start with an empty flash device. Then copy the files either one by one by hand or using an automated method that copies files only one at a time. A cmd file on Windows that can do this is like:

-------

dir /b /od>c:\junk.txt

for /f "delims=*" %%i in (c:\junk.txt) do copy "%%i" f:\

-------

[...] (you need to change this script to fit your exact situation)

Alternatively you can use Photoshop Elements or some other photo management tool to export photos in sequence directly to a memory card or your picture frame.

Hopefully future photo frames will become a bit more intelligent and allow you to pick your display order.

Overall I've found the PAN7000DW to be a good value and to work as you would expect. Pandigital PAN7000DW 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Black)

I bought the Pandigital PAN7000DW so that I could load it up with pictures and videos of my new son and send it to my grandmother. After a few hours dealing with it (I'm very experienced with computers and electronic gadgets), here's my take:

- I like the look of the frame (classic looking) and the screen is bright and crisp.

- I could not get any video files to work. The documentation says it plays motion jpeg AVIs, and I tried many conversion options on my Mac using MPEG Streamclip and could not get it to work.

- Navigating the menus is a pain using the built-in buttons, so at first glance you're glad they included a remote...except the remote only registers about every 3rd button click, so you're constantly over clicking.

- The UI is pretty slow and lags your button presses.

All that said, it'll do what I want it to do. I've loaded it with 223 pictures at 1280x720 resolution, and it only takes up 34MB of the 1GB internal memory.

Right after I purchased a digital picture frame (about to become my Mom's 90th birthday present), the Pandigital PAN7000DW 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Black), I found an offer from Amazon Vine for a similar item, Smartparts SP72 7-Inch Digital Picture Wood Frame with Beige Matting (Espresso). Oh well -- it gave me the opportunity to compare-and-contrast the two frames (which are similarly priced). *I* didn't know which of these gizmos was best for the purpose, and I dare say you're just as unsure, so maybe my experience can help you.

The short summary: both these frames do what they claim to: They display your photos. But neither of them will give you a heartwarming feeling. The ideas are sound; the implementation kind of stinks. Perhaps more-expensive units have a better user interface, but these two frames are somewhat disappointing.

Let's start with the positives. The picture frames both have a 7" display, which is big enough for sitting on a desk or coffee table, and the displays are bright and clear. You do need a power cable, which might limit where you set up the frame; I can't see hanging them on a wall. The wood frame on the Smartparts is slightly nicer than the Pandigital, but both are reasonably attractive. The basic setup is extremely simple: stuff an SD memory card into the frame and turn it on.

A 2GB card holds 1000+ photos, depending on image resolution. That's a LOT of pictures, even when putting together a huge "this is your life" collection as we did for Mom. I bought a 4GB card along with the Pandigital, which would hold about 5,000 photos, and I could have saved a few bucks.

One thing that isn't clear from the documentation is that you don't HAVE to use an SD card. Both units have their own on-board memory that lets you add a decent number of pictures. You'll need to use the USB connection to get to that memory (and I never DID figure out how to delete their sample photos, grrr); more on that USB connection in a moment.

The Pandigital frame will also play MP3s, if you like. I didn't explore that feature because (a) my Mom's almost deaf and would never use it and (b) there are probably better options for playing music. The Pandigital can also be used as a clock and calendar, though I'm "eh" on that option myself; perhaps you care.

Other options are more important, I think. The Smartparts frame has an option for showing multiple pictures at a time (photo of mom on the left, then Pop's picture on the right, then fade to a third picture to replace Mom's photo). It really does look good, except that a 7" frame is too small to show most photos in enough detail to bother with this. Depending on how you use the frame, though, this feature could be useful. (Maybe for advertising purposes, such as in a realtor's front window, where the detail is a bit less important?)

Both frames have a USB connection, so you can plug them into your computer (mine's a Mac) and easily transfer JPG files to the frame or to the SD card you already stuffed into it. (That's a good thing, in the case of the Smartparts frame, since the card is a real pain to remove.) On the plus side, it means that I could choose a photo in iPhoto and export directly to the unit. On the downside, the Smartparts USB connection was very flaky; it would disconnect itself randomly -- usually in the middle of a file transfer. I used colorful curse words. You're probably best off to use whichever SD-card reader you already use to connect with your PC.

But truly the worst thing about these frames is a terrible, awful user interface for adjusting settings and for interacting with the unit. Both let you control the slideshow from buttons on the top or back of the unit. The Pandigital's are on top, which is slightly more convenient, but both are hard to read without a bright light nearby. The Pandigital also has a remote which (nicely) has a magnetic spot to hold it to the back of the unit. However, I give Mom about 20 minutes before she manages to lose it; it has the right dimensions to be a dandy cat toy, so I'm not upset that the Smartparts unit (which I'm keeping for myself, in case that's not obvious) doesn't have one. Plus, the remote's controls are sticky enough that it takes a few button-whacks to get the frame's attention.

Anyway, they both work with "OK" and "MENU" sort of buttons, and then up/down/right/left arrows to make selections. But the menu design is so poor that it's never clear when you want a right-arrow or a down one. (I never did get the clock set correctly on the Pandigital. Perhaps more detail was in its documentation, but I can't tell you. Other than a "getting started" flyer, the doc is on one of those tiny mini-discs which I feared would disappear into the maw of my iMac's drive. The Smartparts printed documentation is a little more extensive, but not much; a missing CD promised a Windows app, but I wasn't going to use it anyhow.)

Please note that you WILL need to mess with the settings. For one thing, the Smartparts frame seems to need to be told EVERY TIME to show pictures from the SD Card rather than from its own memory. The default time selection to show each photo (5 seconds) is probably too fast for what you prefer, one both units. (The Smartparts has slow/regular/fast; the Pandigital unit has specific time measurements, ranging from 5 seconds to one day.) Most irritatingly, both frames assume you want to choose the "optimal" display setting (well it does SOUND like what you want, right?). However, that actually means, "Make sure the photo touches the right-and-left edges of the frame, even if it means I chop off the heads of the people in the picture." The Pandigital unit automatically shifts the photo display based on whether you arrange it narrow side up or wide side up, but I can't see moving it around that much.

Despite our trained expectation of 5x7 photos, I came to the conclusion that these gizmos ought to be square to accommodate both horizontal and vertical photos. In reality, if I were to get serious about displaying the photos, I'd crop the images to make them get along with the gizmos' formatting; I wasn't about to do that with the 850 images I set up for Mom.

Bottom line: Both of these digital picture frames will get the job done. One isn't significantly better than the other, so I can't tell you to choose the Pandigital over the Smartparts or vice versa. No matter which you choose, though, expect to spend some time cussing before you finish with the setup. - Pandigital Photo Frame - Digital Picture Frame - Pandigital - Digital Frame'

This brush is an amazing product. I have a pug mix and a golden retriever and the amount of undercoat it removed from each of them blew my mind. It leaves them feeling soft and looking very healthy. I highly recommend it for any dog owner who wants a cleaner house and their dog to look its best. Love 2 Pet 2-in-1 Grooming Tool Large

Certified Organic Grocery - organic, hemp food

If you like hempseeds like I do. This is your best buy. Amazon has the best price. The seeds came fast, fresh, and are terrific. To me they smell and taste even more fresh then the retail packages. The 5 lb bag comes vacuum sealed. I took 5 mason jars, packed them in and put them in the freezer. I have a big bag in the refrigerator. I toss these seeds all over my salads. :) Nutiva Bulk Organic Hempseeds, 3 Pound Bag

Sometimes health discoveries, (wonders), are simply amazing. Hemp seeds are helping me turn my health around because I'm nurturing my cells. How I know is because I don't crave or binge on junk food and sugars like before, as well as "diet" products, and I no longer feel like I'm starving. This became forefront to looking for real food, other nutrition

"secrets" and, basically, gave me motivation to come out of a slump I was

in while not looking after my health like I should have been. A good friend threw me this life-line which I gladly pass on. Amazon.com had the best price with the free shipping so I'm sticking with good people, and powerful nutrition. My overall health is only getting better day by day, and a good outlook itself becomes good medicine. Do the research, you'll be amazed. Lucky you for discovering hemp seeds. A. prouty

I really enjoy the hemp hearts. I have come to crave them. I am always looking for a good deal and this is indeed a great price for the qty. These come to abt 3 to 5 dollars less per lb. than what I can get locally. If I use auto ship it is 5 to 7 dollars less. My only complaint is the hulls of the 3 brands I have tried this has by far the most hulls and the only one with intact seeds. I doesn't take much to de-hull them but, it is time consuming. I realize "hulls are a good source of fiber" but, my teeth do not agree. I am tempted to pay a little more for less. If this is something that doesn't bother you I urge you to get it.

After first trying this great product from small package bought in health food store, I quickly realized we need to stock up and save. Here comes amazon with the great auto-ship feature which keeps our stock perfectly replenished each 6 months. The seeds come fresh and tasty. I love them, my 7 year old daughter loves them too, we take several teaspoons straight every day, I wouldn't want to loose any tossed over the salad. Taste is better than hemp oil. Perfect protein and EFA source without sacrifice to the taste!

We have been eating hempseeds for sometime - they are an essential part of our diet. I genuinely notice a difference physically when I eat them along. This is a good price and we have gotten good quality from Amazon. PLEASE SHARE SOME WITH YOUR FRIENDS!!

We must work together to make this available to the USA INCLUDING the farmers. We live under an oppressive, authoritarian regime which, only a few years ago, would have attacked you for eating what is literally "birdseed". Wild!

2nd Review w/Suspcription Purchase Method

We have been delighted to have hemp seed finally taken off Schedule 1 Controlled Substance (along with heroin, etc.). I know that is insane to even write this but that is the nature of the degenerate and immoral drug policy barons from the DEA and ONDCP - to twist reality and prohibit what are supposed to be free American citizens from obtaining some of the best food known to mankind beause their pseudo fear of people smoking flowers(and then engaging in violence against these same peaceful, free human beings). NUTS indeed!!

In any event, we have started using the suscription method. This is a great price compared to anywhere else that I have found. It actually takes 4 mos for us to go through 5 lbs. Therefore, I signed up for 2 mos and simply skip one. I will give very great KUDOS to Amazon for how they have set this up - at least for this product, both the product and the system work great!

Greg Logan

Like most good things (unpasteurized dairy, unpasteurized almonds, medical advice not sponsored by drug companies, gold and silver coin as tender in payment of debt, a government that follows the Constitution etc), hemp seeds are almost illegal and hard to get. Thank God for Amazon! These are the best hemp seeds you are going to get, short of growing your own, which, as we all know, would be illegal in the land of the free.

This item was brought up in a forum with a link to Amazon. I've dealt with Amazon before and I've never been let down, Thank you Amazon for the great deals and excellant service! Anyway, this seed is tasty and nutrient packed. I've since read that hemp seed is some of the best food we can give ourselves.

We love the taste & texture of these seeds. I put several tablespoons in our salads & my husband has started scraping out his salad bowl with a spoon! Perhaps the people who did not care for this product are simply not used to the somewhat different taste of raw nuts & seeds, compared to roasted?

This is a great product, very tasty and at the same time having all kinds of good natural nutrients. I buy it on "Subscribe and Save" program, getting 5 lb. every six months and enjoying sizeable discounts. It makes up a part of my regular lunch consisting of an apple, a banana, and a mixture of sunflower, pumpkin, and hemp seeds (1/4 of cup each). The apple a day definitely keeps a doctor away (to my delight), and the seeds provide a close to perfect combination of "right" protein and fatty acids. Pumpkin seeds also keep my prostate healthy, which is important in my age. Hemp seeds give the mixture the additional taste and flavor. - Hemp Food - Raw Food - Organic - Protein'

Highly Recommended - oil, lubricants

Mobil 1 0w40 has always been one of the premier products from Mobil 1. Mobil 1 0w40 is not "just," a another viscosity. Mobil 1 0w40 European Car Formula is actually different from other viscosities of Mobil 1 in more ways than just its weight.

I often will run oil analysis on oil that comes from my cars, or even on a new bottle of oil, just to see its composition.

Mobil 1 0w40 has more additives in it than say one of the more common viscosities like 5w30.

The reason being is that this 0w40 product is recommended or approved by many European manufacturers who have stringent standards. Indeed, some of these manufacturers do not only require specific performance requirements for this oil, but will actually specify where the additives packages must be purchased from. Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and BMW are just some of the manufacturers who have approvals on this oil.

Furthermore, all AMG vehicles and Porsches come from the factory with this very 0w40 Mobil 1. It is even used in some racing vehicles around the world.

Mobil 1 does not just meet specifications, but tends to exceed those specs.

Some might argue that Mobil 1 has changed its formula a lot over the years. However, one thing is clear. Mobil 1 0w40 is a quality product, approved by some of the most stringent manufacturer specifications, and it is the same formula found around the world.

Amazon has great opportunities to have this oil delivered to your door. There are often rebates available on the product.

It's a proven product. Recommended. Mobil 1 96989 Synthetic 0W-40 Motor Oil - 1 Quart, Pack of 6

This and a specific German made variant of Castrol are the only oils I use in my VW, due to strict requirements listed by the manufacturer.

Unfortunately, due to where I live, I often have a hard time finding oils that meet the VW 502 requirements locally. The auto stores nearby price out six quarts of Mobil 1 for a few pennies cheaper, but it is always hit or miss as to whether they actually have any available or on order.

Amazon delivers this rather fast. Great for those months when it could be weeks before I could see the product locally.

My last two cars have been a VW Jetta 1.8T and an Audi A4 1.8T. These engines get amazing gas mileage when paired up with a manual transmission. My Jetta Wagon got 36 MPG Highway and 30 MPG combined. My A4Q Avant gets 29MPG combined and even gets 28+ highway with two bikes on the roof (these mileage figures are calculated and not from the computer). You gotta have the right 0W oil to get the most gas mileage. My friend has been a service manager at several dealerships and he uses Castol in his 1.8T. I have been a Castrol fan for years, but when I checked last they still did not have anything that meets the VW 502.00 rating that this engine requires. I do not want to take any chances with the turbo, so I am sticking with Mobil 1. I have been using this oil since 2006 and change it every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. It is difficult to find in Spokane and I have to drive to Hayden, Idaho to buy it. I find it on sale at O'Reilly sometimes for $4.99 per quart (limit 24). It's good to see that Amazon has it. It will save me the trip.

The previous reviewer is right about oil change intervals. The "recommended" intervals have gotten longer because of consumer reviews that rate maintenance costs. The easiest way to improve your score is to reduce the number of oil changes. If you ask any good service manager or mechanic they will tell you to change it every 3,000 miles.

I use the Mahle Oil Filter from Amazon (Item number: W0133-1638280-MAH) Mahle Oil Filter. The Amazon ad says that Audi recommends this filter. I trust Amazon and the filter is German made and much larger than the filter my dealership sells me.

I picked this oil for my car because it's a true synthetic oil (PAO-based) not the fake synthetics like other 0W-40 oils. In the US, the definition of synthetic is more lax and cheaper quality oils are allowed to be labeled synthetic even though they wouldn't qualify as such in Europe (hence the need to differentiate it as European car formula). If you have a high performance engine (Audi, BMW, etc...) then this is what you want. If you don't have one (e.g. Camry) then you don't necessarily need this.

The two numbers in the rating, 0W-40, are the viscosity at low and high temps. You basically want low viscosity at low temps when you start the engine to get lubrication flowing quickly and high viscosity at normal engine operating temperature to reduce engine wear. Standard petroleum-based oil does not have such a dynamic viscosity range, so oil manufacturers have created synthetic oils to do this. But many of them have been using petroleum-based oil combined with lots of additives to achieve this dynamic range and labeling it synthetic (because it is cheaper than a pure synthetic). These are known as Group III based oils. The problem is that there is the risk of the additives breaking down under high stress, leaving you with oil that only performs at the lower rating (i.e. 0 in this case!). This can lead to sludging. So what you want is a Group IV based oil, a.k.a. PAO-based (Poly-Alpha-Olefin), which means it is truly synthetic and does not need additives, and has no risk of breaking down. And it lasts longer, from 3000-15000 miles according to their website but I change mine every 5K-7.5K (check with your car manufacturer for what they recommend).

I must say that this was the fastest 'standard' delivery of a product I have ever experienced. It was at my door in two days after ordering. Thanks Amazon. I have used Mobil 1 synthetic in my cars and motorcycles for years and it has always performed well. It took some getting used to not changing my oil every 3k miles as in the 'old days' with the dino oil. Being assured I can run it longer in my vehicles AND wanting the extra value due to the high cost of Mobil 1 I started changing it out about every 7-10k miles. That has worked for me over the years and I never noticed any additional wear or oil burning. I use 15W-50 in my Valkyrie MC, just started using 0W-30 (was using 5W-30) in the Mitsubishi Lancer, and 0W-40 European grade in the Mercedes SLK 320. I just hope Mobil 1 stays with a fully synthetic base unlike some others that use a mixture of mineral oil and synthetic and legally call it 'fully synthetic' as I'm learning more about this practice.... - Bmw - Lubricants - Full Synthetic - Oil'

Big Kahuna 95 Led Flashlight - versapak vp110, versa pak

Black & Decker - VersaPak Gold Battery! I like using B&D VersaPak Tools for light duty hobby activities in my laboratory. The interchangeability is a handy feature. I have used many batteries including B&D VersaPak Gold and Silver. The GOLD Batteries due last longer than the Silvers. In my opinion, 60% is stretching it. Depending on cycles to include complete discharge, amount of use and other factors, 40-50% would be more accurate. The GOLD Batteries are not as impacted by the "memory" fade that the silvers are. For the same price or up to a couple dollars more per battery, the GOLD Batteries are a better buy. Black & Decker VP110 VersaPak Gold 3.6-Volt 1-1/5-Amp Hour NiMH Gold Battery

It's at least also almost always true

This GOLD edition *almost* lasts 60% longer [actually about 40% on a very good day]. But the real kick is the gain in power. Yes, I said power.

More Power, grunt grunt. . .snort, err, d'oh!

I never would have believed it but hearing, listening, and watching my somewhat meek 3.6v VersaPak line of B&D battery-operated cleaning tools suddenly get a whole new attitude when I dropped these puppies in should impress just about anyone, just a little. There is definately a power boost but as to ascertaining what percentage would require far more spare time and testing equipment than even *I* have available. Suffice to say most won't be too disappointed as it's a real kick. I certainly wasn't.

A real kick in the pants

The price for the standard 3.6v VersaPak cells is bad enough, but these "Gold" editions are typically DOUBLE!

Is it worth it?

This is a tough one really as some folks will just as happily opt for updating their tool line rather than getting "bigger" batteries as B&D's VersaPak line has long past the average "lifespan" typically associated with rechargeable tool series. This was very true but to an even greater extent in *power* tools: when fix-it guys, home pros[?] and tradesman alike were recently caught up in a voltage frenzy among manufacturers. Cordless power tools climbed upwards rapidly but very incrementally from 9.6v to 24v in a single 12-month timeframe, making the $$$ cordless tool "kit" you just purchased obsolete even before you finished wading through the vast sea of disgruntled home improvement customers at the local depot's check-out lines. I'm sure I'm not the only consumer who owns more than one dubious rechargeable flashlight: the requisite cordless kit tool "bonus".

But is it really worth it?

Many rechargeable *cleaning tool* series have improved as well, albeit more more slowly. B&D's VersaPak tool line was ONE OF THE FIRST rechargeable battery "systems" out there[long before Ryobi and most others jumped on board with the exception of Makita's 7.2v system [[Milwaukee's single "pro"sumer or trade-level under 3volt entry at the time [read "not a system"] was a great little cordless stick screwdriver which I believe were seen being introduced on or about the same era]]. Yes, I said era. It's been that long. . .

BTW, with only minor improvement[the charger was updated], Milwaukee's stick driver is still being offered [and accepted] today, decades after its introduction and a glorious testament to what's possible when great design meets great execution.

And your point?

Anyway, my point being is it's a personal choice on whether one should breathe new life in their very dated VersaPak collection or not. If you are one of those who decide to do so and you have more than one VersaPak device or at least one B&D device requiring two batts, you may wish to look into buying these in BULK from a *trusted* source[you did read "trusted", yes?], as these bulk packs offer a much better deal and in quantanties that are still realistic for the home consumer.

A good rule-of-thumb for rechargeable batteries is to always have at least one spare swap-out available so your job isn't interrupted and to prevent rapid cycling.

One word of caution

Ok, more than one word: DON'T MIX THESE WITH STANDARD VersaPak [black/silver] batteries, either in twin-pack tools OR dual chargers, but especially the latter. Just don't. . .ever

And now one word of advice

Ok, more than one word as well, but this advice is totally free and worth every penny! Heat is the great destroyer of rechargeable batts, rapidly humbling far more robust batts than these. The great thing about having some extras around means that you won't be dropping just-drained and very warm batteries into your charger or your just-charged very warm batteries into your device as either of these practices will assure your tired tools a very brief reprieve.

Bottom line

Now that I've switched to the GOLD version, I would never go back to black(and silver;o).

AX~

My original battery for my electric screwdriver time had come to an end. I purchased this VersaPak Gold Battery and after a short charge was driving screws to buid a desk. I don't recall the orginal battery ever having this amount of power or being able to hold the charge as long.

I've been using my VersaPak tools for several years now. The VersaPak Gold battery holds its charge longer and the life of the battery is longer than the regular VersaPak battery. I have been quite satisfied with the Gold's performance. as well as the VersaPak tools, ideal for light duty houssehold fixes.

A few reviews read that the GOLD is delivering better power and a longer charge.

While the charge does seem to last longer, I haven't experienced more actual power in my screwdriver.

For the extra time, though, I'd take the GOLD anytime rather than to have to recharge more often.

I am in love with Versapak and have several appliances and tools that use these batteries. There is just one problem: the regular ones don't have much capacity and have a VERY short life. The Gold ones are much better but a little more expensive. In my opinion, they are well worth the extra price. It's really too bad that Black and Decker overprices the batteries os much. - Versapak Vp110 - Versa Pak - Black And Decker - Dustbuster'

Touch Screen - kp500, lg

This phone behaves as though it is "refurbished" rather than "new." It does not hold the Bluetooth signal appropriately (not the Bluetooth--it was fine on my old phone), and the battery acts as though it is worn, as it doesn't seem to hold a charge for very long (I have to charge it every other day, and I turn my phone off at night). In addition, a part has fallen off of the hinge area, so it opens crookedly. Their shipping was quick, but the quality of the product leaves much to be desired. I would not order from this company again. Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Quad-Band GSM, Camera and Video Player--International Version with Warranty (Cherry Red)

I was very pleased with how quick the customer service emails were, and the new charger I needed was shipped the same day. However, I have gone through 3 chargers and the phone still doesn't charge. I wouldn't recommend this phone. You have to manually change the settings to send a picture message and the camera will work on and off. Not worth the investment.

The phone I bought its not new, it's refurbished. It has a lot of problems with the battery; it seems not to charge properly, the charge don't last a single day, you have to charge it every night. I don't recommend this product.

The phone is in brand new condition and it was shipped on time. However, the whole reason I bought this for my mom was because she wanted Chinese language. I thought this phone is "international version" so I was assuming there's Chinese as standard, but there's no Chinese lounge in this phone! How can it be "international version" then? In fact, it doesn't have any of Asian language such as Korean, Japanese, etc. It only have English, Spanish, and European language.

Amazon said they shipped this item and it was in stock. After 15 days Amazon said that it was not in stock and printed a shipping label in error. So what I thought would arrive before Christmas did not because of Amazon's lack of honoring a product they said was in stock. Lesson learned is if Amazon says product is in stock, you probably should not count on their word. - Lg - Razr V3 - Amazon - Kp500'

Home Improvement Tools - woodworking, drill

Given the number of bearings used in this drill press It is a very well engineered, solid and stable machine with almost zero runout. Comparing this Jet bench top drill press to that rattling POS 12" Ryobi, which I bought initially and returned right away, is like comparing a Rolls-Royce and Ugo. However, given that sad fact that this Jet drill press was assembled in China, and in my professional experience Chinese generally don't give a damn about quality, my new drill press came with the following flaws:

1. Depth gauge lock collar (part JDP12-35) was broken and its pan head screw and hex nut were missing.

2. Tilt scale indicator (part JDP12-135) was cracked.

3. Left laser (part JDP12-47) has a beam three times wider than the right one.

4. Support roller (part JDP12-25) is deformed and out of cylindrical shape on one end.

When I pay a good money for something, I demand quality and nothing but the quality!!!

I'm going to order replacement for these defective parts from WMH Tool Group, Inc which manufactures these drill presses.

I used this Jet drill press continuously for two days and it has been proven to be a very solid performer, besides these QC flaws listed above. The variety of tasks I have accomplished without a hitch speaks for itself. Drilling precisely positioned holes to install threaded inserts in network conduit pull boxes. Drilling 0.5mm component mounting holes on circuit boards. Drilling precisely spaced and positioned holes on the rifle receiver to install a new rear sight. I could not have accomplished these tasks with any drill presses sold in big box stores locally, especially with that POS Ryobi for which I developed a strong disgust for the rest of my life. Needless to say it was assembled in China as well.

The chuck which came with this Jet drill press is a very high quality, tight and precise piece, which I never seen on any comparable bench top drill presses before. It doesn't wobble or rattles loosely even when it's spinning in open position. The machined surfaces of the base and support table are much smoother and better quality than those I saw on other bench top drill presses namely POS Ryobi, Central Machinery, Rigid and Delta. Quality of the metal cast parts is not perfect but does not have any visible voids, under and over casts that I saw on drill presses named above.

I wish I had an option to buy un-assembled Jet drill press kit to put it properly together by myself without reliance on foreign sweat shop assembly slaves.

The bottom line. If you need a heavy duty reliable, stable and relatively inexpensive bench top drill press the Jet is the way to go. I wish that some day such machinery will be again manufactured in USA to the highest quality standards we used to be known for. But it's up to us to make it a reality. Screw Chinese buy American products is the best recipe for it. For now I'm giving this Jet four stars, but I may review it later again with the lower scoring if it falls apart or does not perform as good as it is now.

Update 19-Oct-2009

I received and installed all the replacement parts sent me by Jet Customer service. The drill press still functioning admirably. However, due to the "corner cutting" in its manufacturing process and Chinese "quality" of its original assembly, I had to make the following improvements:

1. Completely disassembled all mechanical parts and washed out all original crappy cosmoline grease. Re-assembled and lubricated everything with Super Lube Synthetic grease. [...]

2. Installed flat 1.5mm thick copper washer between Pinion Shaft (part JDP12-56) and Coil Spring (part JDP12-81). The washer is roughly equal in its outer diameter to the inner diameter of plastic Spring Retainer (part JDP12-83). This improvement prevents coil spring from rubbing and scorching the side of the head base, thus reduces noise and friction dramatically.

3. Installed flat 0.5mm bronze-oil bushing between Hex Jam Nut (part JDP12-79) and Spring Cap (part JDP12-81). This improvement completely eliminates Pinion Shaft side play, and also eliminates coil spring vibration and noise as well.

4. Installed flat 1.5mm thick copper washer between speed adjustment Hub (part JDP12-95) and Shaft Plate (part JDP12-70). The washer has the same outer diameter as in case 2, and it is a little bit beveled with the file to fit into the hub's beveled inner round cavity. Installed flat 0.3mm copper washer between elevation Shaft (part JDP12-69) and Shaft Plate (part JDP12-70). The washer's outer diameter matches to the outer diameter of the elevation shaft. This eliminates an excessive friction and grinding in speed changing hub assembly. Due to this improvement speed changing now is much more easier and smoother.

5. Reshaped Set Screw (part JDP12-84) quill groove mating surfaces to the true rectangular shape and polished them. This improvement ensures very smooth vertical quill movement without any side play and runout.

Now my inexpensive drill press runs like a $1,000 piece of truly professional machinery. The total cost of improvement was no more than $15.00 for parts and grease, plus four hours of my non-sweat shop manual labor.

Hope you can do the same to improve your JET drill press quality and precision as well. Jet JDP-12 12-Inch Drill Press with Digital Readout

For the price, this is a very high quality drill press. For my use it is perfect. I really like the safety feature of the chuck key which prevents one from accidentally leaving the chuck key in the chuck. It has a spring loaded tip that requires you to keep an inward pressure on the key while tightening or loosening the chuck. As soon as you no longer apply inward pressure on the key, it pushes it self out of the chuck keeping it in your hand. Very nice safety feature.

Another nice feature is the 'on/off" switch is located on the front of the drill press and to turn it on, you pull it towards you, thus if something should go haywire (like not securing the drilled object down and it gets away from you), you can shut the drill press down with your forehead. Hopefully one would not get themselves in this type of situation, but sometimes even the best of us makes an error, and your head is the closes thing to the switch. The laser light is nice as is the work light. A nice feature of the laser light is that it is powered by internal circuitry (not battery powered), so if you forget and leave the laser light on, you don,t have a battery to replace.

Another nice feature is being able to change drilling speeds with out having to change the belt location on the pulley. There is a handle on the left side that you push or pull to change the speed while the drill press is running and a digital display above the "on/off" switch that shows the RPM. Like I said in the beginning that for the price, this is an outstanding quality product. - Drill - Woodworking - Drill Presses - Drill Press'

Vanilla Star - jeans, leggings

These jeans looked great on the photo! So I took a punt from Australia and purchased them.

I am not dissapointed, they have a great wash effect and the belt is really cute.

Size wise they are close to true perhaps a little firm although once warn for a while they do give.

They are made from organic cotton I'm not sure if it's that or the wash that give them a bit of an unusual smell, it's not unbearable & might fade with a few washes. All in all they are a great Jean, nice solid denim with cute detail! I will be buying more jeans from this label, price is sooooo affordable.

Healthy Lifestyle - green, healthy lifestyle

I just love this book...I found out about it through a friend & read it in one night, now I keep it on my nightstand as a reference guide. I am a want-a-be naturalist & I try my best. This book gives me the knowledge and inspiration to stay on track. I purchaed 6 more books for my 20 something kids and close friends. Alot of the knowledge in the book I already knew, reading it gave me the power to incorprate the basics into my daily life. I know that I will not go Vegan however I am much smarter about my choices...I think everyone should have this book and use it as a reference guide to healther living. The Beginner's Guide to Natural Living

The Editorial Review says it so well: "The Beginner's Guide to Natural Living is a straightforward, well-researched, comprehensive and easy to understand step-by-step guide to the hows and whys of nearly every aspect of natural living. This book is an inspiring wealth of information, and includes everything you need to know to implement lasting change in your life and your health."

Yes! It's all that and more! It's AMAZINGLY well organized and informative. I've been dabbling in this subject for many years and am impressed that TBG covers all the important, relevant topics to give a broad, yet thorough understanding of how to make healthy livestyle choices.

I discovered the book when I was Googling "natural/holistic dentistry", a subject upon which not much helpful information seems to have been written. TBG offers 10 pages that succinctly and effectively cover all aspects of this topic.

So, what's the flaw?? No index!! For such an information-rich book as this, an index is an indispensible, reader-friendly tool for accessing information easily. Please include an index in the next edition, at which time, I will happily add another star!

Mom wasn't healthy, no huge degenerative disease like cancer...but just lots of little things adding up, memory loss, arthritis, pains here and there...And although she is interested in healthy ways, (and talks to me / is supportive about what I do and what I like...) she was hesitant to make any changes to her own old routines... So, I got my mom this book as an introduction to ways she can start to feel better. I had read it for myself, and although it was mostly things I knew (I've read a lot about health over the years) what i was impressed with is that it contained the components of health and nutrition that I've found to be most beneficial in my own experience of trial and error.

So I decided to get it for my mom, thinking that she most likely won't read it...and I'd just have to chalk it up to, "Oh well, I tried". So it came as a complete surprise that she -first of all- read it, and then was utterly ASTONISHED when I found out that she actually started implementing EVERY SINGLE suggestion in the book! :)

So then, I had to find out how it was able to make such an impact...So I was like "mom, I've told you how important getting omega oils is, like taking flax oil" she quickly quipped back "but you didn't tell me WHY!..." So, for whatever reason, the WAY in which this book was written combined with the practicality of the suggestions ...has changed my mom's health for the better. And further, has managed to shift her belief /inspired her to know that she now has an active ROLE in maintaining her own health (!) So pretty cool indeed...So, I'm actually writing this to say, thanks Mr. Cook! :)

I have been very interested in natural living for a while now, and slowly have been adding more and more components of it to my life. This book is a great comprehensive guide to many aspects of natural living. It gives specific examples of what to do and not to do, as well as specific product recommendations. He also has some recipes in the back of the book that I have tried and loved, and found very useful. I definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in natural living.

This book is a fantastic roadmap for starting a healthy lifestyle. I learned many of the foods and household products I used had additives that are not safe, but it is a big task to change the things that we use everyday. The book introduced me to some great products and helpful resources for information. I like to research products before purchasing but I found that there isn't a lot of rating information about organic products. Larry's book is a fantastic "where to start and why" reference, one that you will use again and again.

This is the best book I have read for healthy living ideas that you can implement at your own pace. The improvement in my family's health confirms that The Beginner's Guide To Natural Living was a great investment! Danna B.

This little gem does a great job covering the basics needed to achieve and maintain good health from a natural health perspective: how to shop at a health food store, why to drink filtered water, why to eat whole organic food instead of processed food, how to build chi and vitality, why detoxification of the body is important, the benefit to visiting a holistic dentist, how natural medicine works and why visiting a natural medicine doctor is important. It is clearly organized and packed with practical information that will be helpful to any individual interested in forming lifelong healthy habits. The book is appropriate for both the novice and the more experienced natural health conscious consumer. I am a practicing Naturopathic Doctor and I found many of the resources in the book to be very useful. Kudos to the author for creating a well-researched, thorough and peer-reviewed book that will help everyone take the right steps towards living a healthy life.

I was feeling very overwhelmed on my search to living a more natural lifestyle when I ran into this book. After reading it I felt in much more control over where and how to start my desired lifestyle more effectively. Larry Cook gives great references and ways to find what you're looking for. I highly recommend this book. - Healthy Lifestyle - Detoxification - Green - Green Living'
