Lighted And Magnified Mirror - lighted make up mirror, magnifying mirror

Magnification of 15X shows everything, even without reading glasses. You can see every pore on your face and every hair in your eyebrows, which makes removing blackheads or tweezing your eyebrows super easy. No more red spots because you didn't squeeze in exactly the right place or you missed a hair and tweezed skin. The only reason this product doesn't merit 5 stars is that the light comes solely from the bottom, so you really need some decent room lighting from overhead or the side in order to be able to see well; however, the only mirrors I've been able to find with surround lighting had a maximum magnification of 10X, and the greater magnification of this mirror is much better when what you have to look at is small and you need to be precise. If you want a mirror for makeup or shaving, get one with lower magification and lights that go all the way around, but for plucking or squeezing, this is the one. Floxite Fl-615 15x Supervision Magnifying Mirror Light, White, Frosted White

I broke my former lighted mirror and have been searching for another like it - with BOTTOM lighting rather than the "halo" type, which is inadequate for my needs. This mirror does have fantastic, bright light, from the bottom. However, the 15x magnification distorts the reflected image so badly at the periphery of your face, that it is useless for what I need it for: tweezing chin & neck area (one of the curses of reaching "a certain age"). So - if you need high magnification and good lighting of the center of your face, this is a great mirror. If you need to see your chin & neck.... not so much.

I had a 5x mirror for many years. I saw this at amazon and wanted something stronger. It is an excellent mirror. I like the way the extender that holds the mirror folds up and down. My other mirror did not do this and I can see my face better with that option. I would recommend this mirror to anyone and everyone that needs to see every knook and cranny on your face.

This is a wonderful mirror for plucking those nasty varmint hairs that seem to appear everywhere they shouldn't after you hit 50. Great visualization for eyebrow, upper lip, and chin hair removal. With a great tweezer and THIS mirror, you're 'in business' !!!! I bought 3, one to travel with, one for home use, and a 'spare' ..... just in case........ I've had for about 2 years now and have NO complaints........ This mirror is NOT for applying makeup - HELLO - it's for VERY closeup reconnaissance. Manufacturers 'out there' - "get on it' .... Baby Boomers NEED better selection of these type of products - this is a rare find ... so are great precise tweezers......

Though this was perfect for very close work - I saw EVERY pore up close and personal - you have to stay just a few inches from the mirror or the distortion makes it unusable. Not suitable for shaving or any activity that involves movement, even applying makeup. Great for tweezing though.

This is a really nice little mirror. It magnifies so much you can see things you never saw before. Perfect for makeup or hair removal. Extra bulbs for the light are a plus too. Good product, good value.

The magnification is amazing. You can see things in detail that can't even be seen at all with a regular mirror. Being a smaller mirror, it won't take the place of a larger mirror for a bigger overall view, but it can't be beat for close-up views. I bought this for my daughter and now I will be ordering one for me also.

I love my 15x lighted mirror. I can refine my make-up in a way not possible without a magnification mirror. The light makes it so convenient. I simply mounted it on the wall in the bathroom and it is perfect! - Magnifying Mirror - Makeup Mirror - Lighted Make Up Mirror - Lighted Mirror'

Custom Leathercraft - insulated bag, collapsable cooler

We've owned this bag for a couple of years now. Wanted something larger for the family to use for daytime trips were you would want something but don't need or want to haul a large cooler (and it saves money by not buying more expensive drinks on the road). Because of the height of the bag it holds both water/juice bottles and soda cans with ease. We use one of the six-pack cooler packs to keep drinks cool. It'll store 10 bottles/cans easily and twelve-to-fourteen by laying some on their sides/on top. This works great for us (family of 4) and allows us to bring two drinks each and have room for extra snacks stacked inside and using the outside pockets. The outside pockets could be a bit larger but they work fine otherwise. Custom LeatherCraft 1540 15-Inch BigMouth Cooler Bag

I often work long days and need to pack up breakfast, lunch and dinner in an easy-carry tote with snacks. This is perfect for that, or to carry refreshments to a party. The insulation keeps beverages cold or hot as needed longer than a non-insulated tote and it's lightweight.

It's also very nice that it has an opening on the top so you can reach in and grab a drink without unzipping the whole thing.

Why not 5 stars? You will need to use a coldpack for your cold items in order to keep it cold long-term or to keep your bevs at optimum temperature--you can't use ice in this. Because of the opening of the liner at the zipper and the stitching, ice melting caused leakage. The manufacturer says it's not waterproof and, granted, it doesn't state that it is...however I do have another bag in the same price range that has a heavy duty plastic liner that allows it to be waterproof as well...so, since this technology is out there, I do wish this bag allowed for me to use ice too for beverage travel. However, I can live with a cold pack for toting my food.

Conclusion: handy and light to carry. Good insulation. But the addition of the heavy duty plastic on top of the thin liner would have made it waterproof which would have been a real bonus if you want to fill it with ice. Look for leakage after several hours if you put in ice (bummer)...but for a quick trip it won't leak.

Really good product - purchased to fit between seats where a hard side cooler doesn't work. Kept drinks cold for 14 hour car trip. We used blue ice bags so can't confirm it won't leak if you use real ice, but very nice job with the bags. Also easier to carry than a regular cooler due to the shoulder strap. Product description doesn't mention it, but there is a velcro hatch on the top so you can reach in without unzipping.

I used this for a trip along the West coast. Was able to stick to a healthy plan the whole way. One of the only ones that use real ice. I just filled mine up everyday at the hotel. Perfect. I love it.

My husband works at least 12 hours a day plus drives an extra 2 hours, so he needs to take lots of food/snacks with him when he goes. This lunch box holds it all and keeps it cool with a cooler pack. It seems very sturdy. I recommend this to anyone who needs a strong large capacity cooler

I've had this for about a year and am recommending it because it is roomy(have crammed at least 12 cans of soda in it at one time) and keeps the contents cold for up to 14-16 hours. It also does a great job keeping fruit and sandwiches cool when I head down to the beach.

The top has a velcro fastener that provides easy access without having to unzip the whole thing. While at home I use the sealed plastic bags with coolant, on the road if you don't have access to a freezer to refreeze the bags I recommend putting ice in double lined freezer bags such as ZIPLOC. This keeps the contents cool w/o leakage. I mention this because there is one negative regarding this bag....it will leak if ice is thrown in the bag loosely. I have yet to encounter non-hard casing cooler bags that don't leak. The tradeoff for me regarding this bag vs. a hard shell cooler: this is lighter, compact, provides easy access, and is easy to handle and/or carry over the shoulder. When I go on a trip I usually take a plane to my destination and then travel locally by car. This bag is light and compact and fits easily into a suitcase or carryon as it is fully collapsible.

I liked this bag so much that I ended up buying an additional 2 bags a couple of months ago. For the price and quality, this is a great cooler.

This is a great little cooler. Lightweight and holds just the right amount to get me through a couple of meals and beverages/snacks during my long day. Easy access top is a nice feature, and I'm using the outside pockets more than I thought I would. Great value!

I bought this bag for my long road trip, a 9-hour drive. I threw in a couple of zip-locks with ice and my soda drinks along with some snacks. Amazingly the sodas were still cold when I got there. So it really does what it said.

The bag is big enough for a twelve-pack of drink and still have space left over for some sandwiches and fruit. It came with a should strap and a bunch of pockets on the side, I guess you can put your forks and knives there. The zipped lid has a velcro opening for quick access. I worried that I will lose the cold from the lid, but it wasn't so. Like I mentioned, my stuffs were till ice cold at the end of the drive.

Great cooler bag and highly recommnded. - Insulated Bag - Collapsable Cooler - Cooler Bag - Lunchbox'

Garmin Dashboard Mount - garmin, garmin c330

I bought the C340 recently and have been very satisfied with it. However, the suction cup mount gave me trouble on my recent trip to california. I had attached the suction mount to the rental car. After two weeks of roaming in the California sun, I was stunned when I found out that the suction cup had fused to windshield. I couldnt get it off and so had to shop for a new mount. This dash mount is really good especially since it is not glued or vacuum attached to anything. The product description on amazon "the mount is hardware-free: simply attach the included adhesive disks--one for each leg--and then connect the StreetPilot to the top." gives the impression that it uses adhesive which is incorrect. I am very satisfied with this product Garmin Dashboard Mount for StreetPilot c310, c320, c330 and c340 (010-10613-00)

Dash-Mount is much better than the suction cup. It moves easily from car to car (in our case, between the Astro-Van and the VW NB convertible). It's easy to remove from the dash by picking it up. Will not slide on dash unless you tip the car over.

I wish this mount was the standard mount and the suction mount was the optional.

PLUSes:

+ stays put

+ easily transfer from car to car

+ power cord stays attached to mount.

+ great price! here on Amazon.com

No minus

It is superb !!!! it is basically an equivalent of bean bag mount for C series. it doesn't slip so easliy, even in rough turns. Garmin is truly an innovator !!! This mount works perfectly for a curvy dash board & for flat ones as well.

It is friction based, no adhesive, screws, stiking on windshield etc.

Only one Q: Wonder what will happen in a crash, will this fly & hit my children in the back ? this will be scary, i hope not. the reason i am worried is that the 3 bases are darn heavy !

This device should be the standard way of mounting the navigators. For security I like to place the device down on the floor out of the way while leaving the car parked. It is handy for moving the GPS from car to car. The original mount takes to long and is ackward to remove and attach to the windshield.

I found out the hard way that the factory-included suction mount isn't very dependable, unless you find the perfect place on the windshield to stick it to. After mounting it onto the windshield and giving it a slight tug, it seemed like it had a pretty solid grip. However, midway through the drive while I was turning, the suction mount along with the C340 just fell off. I understand that the system is pretty heavy, but I don't like expensive technology falling to the ground at random times, so I ended up paying extra for this dashboard mount. Works great. I wish there was an option for including this in the original package, but business is business and Garmin wants my $$$, so I'll have to pay extra.

I bought this due to the California law mentioning that nothing can be attached to the windshield 'cause it blocks the drivers' view. This dash mount works better than what I think of. It never moves, at least in my car. I love it a lot. Highly recommended.

I went to the west coast (CA NV AZ) for a vacation and this came just in time before our flight. I drove to and from the airports, Vegas to the Canyon to Sedona, and SF to Tahoe to Muir Woods and back and to Salinas-Carmel-Monterey then back to SF again. This dash mount performed excellently. No problem even with sudden breaks. It just moved a little, perhaps 1/8" even on those SF 45-degree inclines. No need for a velcro or glue. It's highly transportable, like my GPS. As long as there's room on the dashboard, any c340 is perfectly safe. It came with a cigarette lighter cord and charged my c340 too. The suction cup with my c340 does not hold very long, maybe 30 min., max. Although it is worth the extra money, this should have been included in the GPS package, in my opinion. It's a must attachment. I couldn't stress it more.

This is an absolutely essential accessory for your Garmin c-series GPS, for two reasons.

First, the windshield suction cup mount supplied with the GPS isn't as reliable as you might think and hope. It will grip tightly, but at completely unpredictable times, it will suddenly release, dumping your GPS onto the floor. When that happens, you'll grab for it, and the results of doing that at highway speeds could be catastrophic. I think this might be caused by changes in the temperature of the windshield as you drive into and out of the sun, turn the heat up and down, etc.

Second, in some states, it's illegal to obscure the windshield with anything, and the ticket for doing so can be significant. Even if it's not illegal, it's not a good thing, and this mount solves that problem.

The mount is well-built, fits the GPS perfectly, and works exactly the way it's supposed to. - Garmin C340 - Garmin C330 - Garmin Mount - Garmin'

Dramatists Play Service - dramatists play service

I Am My Own Wife is a rare work that does not merely draw a one noted portrayal of its heroine but fully explores their more questionable aspects and confronts how we record history and the difficulty of finding truth about one individual. Wright had the sense initially that he had discovered a spotless hero in the transvestite Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a survivor of both the Nazis and the Communists in East Germany. However, as he discovers that she has perhaps been an informer for the secret police, the lies she has told the playwright unravel and there is little certainty in her autobiography. On the page, it is difficult to get an idea of what the experience of the play is actually like live, which is easily one of the most stunning plays i've seen in New York. Since the text is composed of what would appear to be scenes between multiple characters, reading it you may imagine something quite different than what is intended and you may picture actual moments between a group of people interacting onstage. However, since the play is written to be performed by one actor as a live event it becomes more about the complexity of a single individual rather than relationships between people. Since the play is meant to be performed with one important exception by a transvestite dressed in merely a simple black dress and a string of pearls, it appears as though one person comes to be so many different things in different situations. Like the nature of Charlotte, the main character, we get a sense as an audience that individuals are not merely one thing or another, but rather their nature is fluid, malleable, and often depends on who is perceiving it.I highly recommend seeing the production as opposed to reading it because this is thorougly a play crafted for the live event and not the reader, but the text does enhance the experience somewhat. It is a bit clearer which character is speaking when you read the text due to the delineations as opposed to watching one man attempt to portray distinctly and clearly at least 40 character. Mays illuminates the role on broadway but one individual can only do so much. Also, the sense we get of the playwright's struggle to deal with the flaws in Charlotte due to his obsession seemed more apparent to me when reading it. I Am My Own Wife is an intelligent, funny, and heartbreaking work and i believe it will influence and move theatre artists, audiences and readers for decades to come. I Am My Own Wife

Nothing can match seeing "I Am My Own Wife" on stage. I had the distinctive privilege of scooping a ticket to a recent performance at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway, and it was among the most memorable theatrical experiences I've ever had. Moises Kaufman's direction is simple yet incomparably graceful and subtle. And if Jefferson Mays doesn't receive a Tony for his miraculous portrayal of some forty-odd characters, then there is no justice, in awards giving or the world. But if you can't see it live, I beg of you to read the beautiful and challenging words of Doug Wright's play. The beginning is almost mundane: an elderly German transvestite, discussing her antique furniture collection. As the story unfurls, we begin to hear, through the eyes and ears of the astonished author, the story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, who survived both the Nazi and Communist regimes as a transvestite. Her dark and fascinating tale of survival pins you to your seat, as the intricate detail and low-key wit of the words fleshes out this true heroine. Or is she? As the first act comes to a close, documents begin to surface that falsify many of Charlotte's stories. In fact, she may have worked for the Communist secret police in order to survive. Is Charlotte to be trusted and admired, as she denies all the accusations? The choice is yours. But as he explores notions of shared history, the elusive nature of truth, and the real definition of heroism, Wright unearths unnerving and provocative truths that reverberate within your soul long after the curtain falls, or the last page is turned. Don't let the seemingly esoteric subject matter fool you. The story of "I Am My Own Wife" is all the more distinguished because of the universiality of its reach and the power of its final message.

"I am my Own Wife" is the new play (2004) by Doug Wright (screenplay writer of Quills) based on his interviews and friendship with the late gay German crossdressed hausfrau, Lothar Berfelde, better known as Charlotte Von Mahlsdorf. A magnificent one-man show that mesmerized Broadway, actor Jefferson Mays played thirty-five separate characters.

The title comes from 40-year-old Charlotte's answer to his mother's clueless plea "don't you think it's time you settled down and found a wife?": "But, Mutti, don't you know that I am my own wife?"

Do buy (and go see) this play! It is well-written, entertaining, very "theatrical," and you will enjoy reading and discussing it with your friends. I also recommend Charlotte Von Mahlsdorf's autobiography. (See my "So You Want To . . . be Your Own Wife" guide to find more materials related to Charlotte's life and times).

HOWEVER . . . it may sound contradictory, given what I've said, but I have a lot of problems with the central character of Charlotte. I've thought for days about this play and the story. I was very attracted to it because of the sheer theatricality of the situation and the character, not to mention the frisson of the "non-drag-queen-drag-queen." But, despite myself, I have been bothered by something that hasn't struck me quite right.

Charlotte is astonishing because this dowdy cross-dresser survived both the Nazis and the subsequent communists to become the leading expert on the Grunderzeit period (approx. 1835-1918) of German furniture design.

That said, there is something strange at the core of this piece: this central character of Charlotte, this hopefully sympathetic trope for beauty and the everlasting human spirit, despite survival at all odds (or maybe because?)---is an empty, severely alienated person. "Autistic" and "disconnected" are the words that stick in my mind. He never really connects with anyone, hermetically sealed in a world of obsession for this furniture and a fantasy past constructed to block out horrible realities. He (debatably) sells out his friends. He is born, lives, and dies for (and with) . . . the furniture. I can't love him because he can't possibly love me back.

For an example of this genre where real human love and sacrifice are manifest, read the play "Bent."

This is my final analysis after discussing it with many friends.

The whole confection is tasty but, after the meal, there has been no lasting nourishment.

Again, it has been a fun process of discovery and I whole-heartedly recommend reading this play. Whaddaya think? Do you agree or disagree? Read and see. - Dramatists Play Service'

Home Security Systems - keyless entry, biometric

It works perfectly for me! I even figured out that it has to detect a pulse to work properly (Which is a problem for my aunt, she has a very weak pulse, but that's another story). The ability to use a password is still much better that having to dig out keys. Another feature I like is that the door automatically locks behind you, but you can turn this feature off and on if you want. iTouchless Bio-Matic Fingerprint Door Lock For Right Hand Door, Silver

The product is impressive and works great. However, mine does not read fingerprints anymore. It turns on the light but never "beeps", and I am sure it is not a programming problem (I am a software developer myself).

I have to enter my house using only the buttons or key :(.

Early on we had troubles because I didn't realize it was for a door with one hole and we have a hole for the deadbolt and the knob, my fault. But after you open the package you can't return it (big note on the package says so). So we figured a way to make it work, luckily my husband is pretty handy. Then I also didn't realize that it is not a deadbolt, so I was concerned about overall security. But we have a house alarm and there is not really enough space for someone to mess with the lock.

As far as functionality it is easy to program and reprogram (if you need to delete someone). For the most part we have not had to try more than once to get in. Overall I am happy with it. I never liked the idea of giving someone a key and then having an issue if you don't want them to get into your house any more. This solves those problems.

The keyless entry system was indeed easy to install and to program. Worked like a charm for about 7 months, but after that it no longer read fingerprints. I tried resetting it, changing the batteries but could not get it to read fingerprints anymore. Now it only operates with the number codes. I looked up on the iTouchless website and found out that the product had a two-year warranty. The company shipped me a new unit and I returned my old one. The new one is working fine now. The only suggestion I would have is that the company should pick up the shipping costs for replacement products. Aside from that, the customer service was very good and responsive to my needs.

I purchased and installed this product for a main entrance to my business. About 15 employees have been fingerprinted to use this product. Of those, about 25% work all the time, about 50% work half the time, and the other 25% rarely or never work at all. I am one of the people that it works for all the time so I love it but I hear a lot of grumbling about it from the other employees who can't get it to work for them. It is nice to have the code you can enter, as well, so anyone whose fingerprint doesn't work can override it and still get in.

Being that it works for me pretty much all the time, I'd purchase one for my house. But I haven't been able to figure out the pattern for why it works for some people and not others.

This lock has been rock solid since I installed it. The fingerprint reads have been very accurate with probably less than 2% failure. Those failures have been when people don't hold their finger still during the read. I have been very happy with this purchase and would buy it again.

The only set back is that I needed to make a difficult adaptation to our local hardware. No problem installing it with a non-English speaking wood smith and the product works amazingly well. Saved the family the need to carry bulky "keychains" and loosing keys.

This lock is probably the best on the market. The price is unbeatable. I've had it for 2 days and love it. The instructions are very easy to follow. It requires no extra holes like some models, just a standard door knob hole. You have to place your finger just right on the sensor or else it denies entry.(Which is a good thing)I have all my fingers programmed. This is a great easy to install and easier to use product.

I bought two of this products, one left sided and the other right sided. In general I am very happy with both of them. One of them, the right side one, has better recognition. I have 7 persons using them and they are working fine. In the right sided one, some times you get 1 or 2 misses but 70% of the time you get in on the first try. On the left sided one I have to try 2 or 3 times on 70% of the times. I don't know why this difference. Even so, this is far better than giving keys to 7 persons for 2 doors with the added cost of changing the lock if one quits or looses its key.

The Bio-matic door lock is a great asset on keyless entry with no other device, accessory, etc. needed other then your fingertip/print.

Some other customers give bad reviews due to failed print captures. When I put my wifes print in memory, I captured her full end digit of her index finger, then I watched how she pressed her finger for entry access when she said it wouldn't read right, She was only applying the tip of her finger in which the memory has the full digit and she is only giving half the ridge detail the Bio-matic is looking for.

Also, We as Human beings use are finger/hands to pick things up at least 200 times a day, if you abrase/scuff or scar the finger/print/ridge detail in question, you won't gain entry till it heals or you re-do your print, then it heals and you re-do again.

I like it some much, I've bought another, that covers 2 out of the 4 entry/exits at our residence! - Front Door - Keyless Entry - Lock - Biometric'

Tom Fox's book is extremely well written and the photographs are gorgeous and really enhance the book. I found the reading easy to follow and very informative. As a proponent of urban farming for people with special needs, I found the book very helpful and insightful about what is happening in this field around the globe. I think everyone who loves vegetable gardening and understands its intrinsic rewards should have this as part of their personal and professional library. I know that my organization will purchase several copies.

Director of Housing Development

The Bridge

New York City Urban Farming: Sustainable City Living in Your Backyard, in Your Community, and in the World

I think the pictures were the first things to astonish me -- varied, helpful and beautiful. I love the combination of history of the urban farming movement and the practical applications for both the beginner and the experienced gardener. Finally Tom Fox's writing is delightful -- clear, with an easy flow and with just the right humor. I've given this book to several friends.

Pat O'Rourke

As a fellow gardener with passion for gardening around my house, this book is just sensatonal with great ideas, pictures, and gardening tricks, especially about vegetables and fruits.

It is quite obvious that Tom Fox knows what's he's writing about, and most important, for the reader and gardener, easy to understand.

If you want to create a mini farm around your house, or simply want to grow a few vegetables, this book will be your bible.

Binder clips are great. We use them all the time - in all sizes and colors. The micro size is so much more secure than paper clips. The larger sizes provide professional looking binding when you have a large batch of papers to bind. OfficemateOIC Mini Binder Clips, Assorted Colors, 60 Clips per Tub (31024)

These are the best binder clips I've ever used! It's clear the company that makes them (in China, no doubt) has taken the time to engineer them with care and pride. They're well-constructed and quite durable, and, for holding lots of papers together, they beat heavy staples by a mile. Plus, no more unsightly holes in the paper!

I gave these clips to my assistant and she loved the multi-colored assortment. Brightened her whole day! All this, and a good price from Amazon, made this a very good purchase :)

As I'm working on family finances, paying bills at home, doing family budgeting, filling out the kid's school paperwork, etc. it's easy for items to get misplaced. With these clips, I can keep items together and the different colors can help if you want to color code items (i.e. red = top priority, yellow = medium priority, green = low priority, etc.). - Bic - Binder Clips - Sticky Notes - Highlighters'
