Crew Socks
Amazon notes that these socks are "only made from the finest yarns." They mean it, too! These socks keep your feet warm; and they are very well made and last forever. I especially like the way that they are reinforced at the heel and toe for lots and lots of wear. These athletic crew socks can be worn for athletic activities but of course they could be worn for everyday routine use as well. In addition, they are mostly made of cotton but Gold Toe adds stretch nylon and a little bit of spandex. Oh sure, these socks may cost a bit more--but you get so much use out of them that these socks inevitably pay for themselves.
These crew length socks also fit any shoe size between 7 and 12; therefore it is--almost--one size fits all. These socks also come in a "king size" which fits shoe sizes 12 to 16 for the big and tall customer. Excellent! The sock itself comes in white or black; but the toe area is literally made from gold colored fibers.
I would not dry these socks at high temperatures. This could result in the sock becoming too loose on your foot. Eventually they will "bunch up" when you wear them and that's very uncomfortable. Dry these fine socks at a lower temperature. Then they will remain just as comfortable as ever. I know mine do!
Overall, you can't go wrong buying these socks. They keep your feet extra warm during colder weather. Moreover, there is a king size for the big and tall customer as well; that size is harder to find these days. They are manufactured so well that you definitely get your money's worth. A good deal!
SMILE Gold Toe Men's Cotton Crew Athletic Sock, Black 10-13, 6-Pack
Guys, this is it, you've found the holy grail in socks. I've been wearing these for about 6 years and they are awesome.
If you need to wear colored socks for your work, these are the best you can find. Imagine pulling on your favorite pair of athletic socks - that's what these feel like; they are plenty thick to absorb moisture and provide excellent comfort when wearing dress shoes, and look excellent. It's almost feels like cheating. I even run in mine (when nobody's looking).
If you are still wearing little thin dress socks that your mommy bought you - you've just found your new man sock. I'm online buying probably my 10th pack, and one for a friend's birthday - that's how good they are. Don't let the "Cotton" description fool you into thinking they are going to lose their shape - they have 17% nylon and 1% spandex so the stretch and maintain their shape for a long time. If you have big feet like mine (size 12) DEFINTELY get the King Size - they don't have to stretch as much and will last longer.
Oh, and the black fuzzies on the first wear? Get over it man.
This product lives up to its claims. These athletic crew socks can be worn for everyday use as well as for sports. Made of cotton, some nylon, & a tiny bit of spandex. They fit most sizes between 7-12, & larger 12-16 in black or white; the toe is made from gold colored fibers. Dry these at low temperatures just as a safety for the more delicate fibers. They will keep your feet warm in winter & since they breath your feet won't stay wet in summer temperatures. A real bargain for the price.
Soft, fuzzy, stretchy, fairly thick, and they look great. Everything you could want in a sock.
I just bought my third 6-pack of these and tossed all my old socks.
Update: After a few months, I have to admit, I am getting pretty annoyed with the way they still shed little bits of fuzz everywhere. I still find them comfortable and attractive, but they leave enough balls of fuzz behind after I take them off that the bedroom needs to be vacuumed more frequently than it otherwise might have to. I'm not sure why the cloth sheds so much fuzz, but it still does, even after several washings.
I am 52 years old and have have had flat feet for most of those years. It takes a special shoe and socks to make my feet "happy". Well I found the shoes about a year ago and finally found the socks to go with them about a week ago. These Gold Toe socks are the most comfortable socks that I have ever worn and I mean that in the most sincere way. I had never heard of them until I saw them (by chance) on Amazon.com. I took a chance and bought a half-dozen. I was not disappointed. I am so pleased with them that I told my wife that I'm going to buy enough to last the rest of my life. Buy em - you will not be disappointed!!!! I just wish I had found them earlier. Oh - by the way I have a job that I walk at least 2.2 miles a day 5 days a week. So believe the the durability also.
I just purchased my 2nd and 3rd package of these socks (white). Threw away a dozen pair of brand new socks I recently purchased at a local well-known department store because they didn't stay in place on my feet and they slipped inside my shoes as I walked.
At last, I have found Gold Toe Men's Crew socks which are completely comfortable and don't slip around. My frustration has ended.
I bought size 10-13 and wear a size 11 shoe. I am thinly built yet the top band was so constrictive as to leave deep indentations to my legs. Because of the discomfort, I was not able to continue wearing them. Where is quality control anymore?
I bought two packs of these after reading all the good reviews. But after only three weeks, they are already getting holes in the heels! I have foot problems, so I never walk around without shoes--it's not like I'm going barefoot in them. I'm very disappointed!
These socks generate incredible amounts of lint, or as another reviewer called it fluff - little shreds of material that fall off everywhere and I kid you not still going strong after 10 months. I think it may actually regenerate somehow, the total quantity of liny would seem to exceed the original weight of the socks when new.'

One Person Inflatable Kayak
I'm a student who has barely any money for fun things, so I decided to buy a kayak so I could have a lot of fun with just a one time "fee". It's perfect for being only around $80.00. I have no complaints since it's my first kayak and I have nothing to compare it to. I do highly recommend buying a different paddle, the one included isn't too comfortable and efficient since it's on the short end. People who complain about it's "tracking"(going straignt while paddling) need to understand this is not a touring kayak made of carbon fiber. It's an $80 inflatable kayak. I've taken it out on lakes around 20 times so far in the last two months and have had only one leak. The leak was from me being dumb and taking it to the ocean where a shell made a nice little tear. This was easily fixed with the included repair kit. All 20 trips have been for at least one hour. Two of those were "long" trips(6 miles round trip). It holds up fine in strong winds and mild waves. On my second long trip the winds were 20mph with 30mph gusts and about 2ft waves. It's pretty fun and you definitely get splashed, here in Florida that feels good though. There's a good bit of space behind the seat to store items as well as in the front where your feet go in. It does include an inflatable "foot rest". I'm not exactly sure what it's called but it helps with maintaining proper posture. It deflates in 5 minutes and fits into a small 2x2 bag which fits perfectly in any trunk. I highly recommend this if you need a way to get out on some water but don't have the money or space for a "higher-end" model. Intex Challenger K1 Kayak
My husband I enjoy kayaking and once we saw the prices of fiberglass kayaks, we hesitated to buy. I saw this inflatable kayak on Amazon and showed my husband who told me not to get it because they would puncture easily and blow away or fill up with water quickly- he could not have been any more wrong. After purchasing two, we took them on their maiden voyage today and both of us were very surprised; they were easy and quick to inflate and navigated perfectly in the water. The material of the kayak is very thick and durable and I am in the process of having all of our friends purchase this item as well.
This kayak is a winner: excellent price and very good performance. I bought two of the one-man kayaks (one for me, one for friends and relatives). So far we have traveled 31 miles total spread across four separate river trips down the Rio Grande River (calm waters) here in New Mexico. I am 6'0" and weigh 190 lbs, and the kayak fit me fine. Others I have taken with me have ranged from my 6'2" son-in-law (length was OK for him) and a friend (205 lbs., weight was not a concern). The kayaks handled very well, and both trips were a real joy. Here are some observations:
- Inflation is very fast with the included high efficiency hand/foot pump. There are four air chambers, and the kayak has never taken more than about 4 minutes to inflate. I throw the pump into the kayak behind my seat when we take off, just in case I need to top up later (which I never have had to do).
- Storage and transport are a breeze. The kayak stores in a small, cloth travel case about twice the size of a briefcase. At 25 pounds, it is relatively light weight. Once I had to carry the kayak about 0.5 miles to get to the river, and hauling that weight was not a big deal. I have carried the inflated kayak a few blocks hanging it on my shoulder, and it was easy to carry.
- The bungee cord storage area in the front is great for carrying a fanny pack, water bottle, sandals, spare paddle, etc. Also, there was more storage space behind the seat.
- Maneuvering is very easy, great for river use. There are two small plastic skegs (about the size of your open palm) under the boat to add a little directional stability. The skegs are at the center of the boat, which allows you to rotate easily while still maintaining a fairly consistent non-zig-zag rowing pattern. If this kayak were strictly for lake use, I think rear skegs would work better, but they would also restrict quick turning.
- Buoyancy is very good. The kayaks tend to bottom out on sand bars when there is less than 6" of water. Primarily, it is the skegs that hit since they are located directly below where you sit. But, hey, 6" of water clearance is not bad.
- The included paddles are good quality, but seemed a little short (they are 86"). After my first trip, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought 96" paddles, which worked much better.
- The vinyl construction seems good. However, one of my kayaks developed a leak (and later a rip due to my stupidity in not following repair instructions). I have since fixed the rip using VINYL cement (available at any awning supply store). The vinyl repair kit included with the kayak should be adequate for any small leaks you put in the kayak. I feel confident the kayak will last a long time (especially now that I know how easy it is to repair even a major issue like a rip which I helped cause). However, I am not sure I would take the kayaks into serious white water.
- You will get a little wet with any kayak, so wear a swim suit or nylon shorts. In calm water, most of the water gets in if you aren't careful when you launch or disembark. Carrying a small hand towel is a good idea, both for keeping your hands and sitting area dry, as well as wiping down the kayak after the trip to clean off any dirt or water prior to storage.
In summary, I was extremely pleased with this kayak. It appears durable and has taken me on a few river trips with excellent results. Hope to use it for many trips to come.
Based on the many 5-star reviews here (with which I agree) I bought two of these inflatable one-person kayaks - and could not be happier with the result. My grandson (age 16, 6'1", 185 pounds) and I (age 62, 6', 206 pounds) carried them as checked luggage to Italy - where we used them to explore the canals of Venice. Compared to the $140 cost of a 40 minute ride in a gondola, the cost of this kayak is a bargain, even after paying the airlines surcharge for a second "bag." And, we were free to explore the canals of our own choosing, at our own (leisurely) pace. Even better, we were able to do this at night, when the city is utterly quiet, free of the competing boats and gondoliers - a truly magical experience.
The product arrives very well packed - inside a sturdy display box which fits very snuggly into the (second) packing box. You could easily check the unopened box as luggage, without fear of puncture damage in transit. Also, the product comes with a black, high-strength, carrying bag - a sort of "tote-bag" shaped like a large briefcase. While it makes carrying the kayak easy and could be checked as luggage, I'm not sure it would offer sufficient protection against the airlines baggage-handling system. Rather than run the risk, I used cheap suitcases, mostly to gain the advantage of wheels.
I did not experience the difficulty some reviewers cited. The oars worked fine - we marveled at how sturdy (aluminum pole with plastic paddles) they are, not at all flimsy. There is no need to get an electric pump - this sedentary old geezer had no difficulty inflating his kayak. The instructions are easy to follow - and DO have an obvious and effective warning against over-inflating. A couple of reviewers cited the unpleasantness of water dripping onto them from the paddles - and recommend a longer paddle. While I also noticed this, not lifting the paddle quite so high out of the water seemed to be the cure - although I am intrigued at another reviewer's information that paddle "rings" can be added (at minimal cost) to catch the water.
For our limited purpose, this product was a dream.'

Cinematography - film guides, directing
This is a great book for film students (I bought it for my daughter who is a film major at Syracuse University), film buffs and for us folks who love to watch movies!
As General Editor of this book, Steven Jay Schneider (who also wrote 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die)aptly summarizes, "This book is a love letter to those men and women who have changed our lives as a result of their celluloid dreams." Sit back and imagine the movies you have seen and how they impacted your life... perhaps prompted you to some action whether of the heart or for society? Moved you to tears or laughter? A great director's fine tuning of a writer's vision onto a screen does just that.
This book has colored tabs on the side of the pages for the director's birth year decade - beginning with the man who invented movies, George Melies, born in the 1860's in Paris, France, right through to David Gordon Green, born in the 1970's, writer and director of Southern Gothic coming of age dramas. The first pages of the book is a solid Table of Contents A-Z of all 501 of these great directors. Each director's page(s) has a photo of the director and some have movie stills from his or her films. Some of the diectors included in this great compendium are Alexander Korda (who helped put the British film industry on the map); John Ford (a titan in the industry who even influenced Spielberg when Steven was a runner on the 20th Century studio lot! Steven went into Ford's office and Ford 'taught' Spielberg to really "look at" his landmark sweeping vista shots carefully...'what do you see?'); George Cukor (Dinner at Eight, Grand Hotel, My Fair Lady); George Stevens (who, as the book states, had "A legendary sharp eye for detail that enhanced visual storytelling; rapport with actors produced memorable performances from Hollywood greats." and other such greats as Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Margarethe von Trotta and Kathryn Bigelow.
The "Top Takes..." of each director's body of work are listed to the right of each director's description of his/her piece in film history including their backgrounds, their influences...what led them to their signature styles.
My particular book came with no cover which was a disappointment as I really admire Steven Spielberg, but the inside history is 100% readable and enjoyable....and moves me to want to read more about my favority directors and to see works I have not yet screened! 501 Movie Directors: A Comprehensive Guide to the Greatest Filmmakers
This book is summarising all of the successfull and talented directors all around the world with best informations and photos. This is a journey to the amazing minds of movie inventors from past to present.
My son wants to make movies. This book seemed like a good place to begin for him to learn about establised directors and what made them unique.
I feel the book will not only be interesting, but inspirational. - Film Guides - Cinematography - Directors - Directing'

Iphone 3g Charger - iphone car charger, iphone charger
This charger is a little more cheaply made than I thought it would be. I have to continually check the connection to my phone because it seems like it keeps slipping. I use my phone a lot, so I require a car charger to keep it from dying on the way home from work. I may eventually replace this one with a more durable model. Apple iPhone 3G/ iPhone 3GS Black Car Charger/ iPod/ iPhone 4G Vehicle Charger
I only used this product two times. Although, it was two times over a period of two months. When I received it, I thought it looked a bit cheap but it worked perfectly fine when I plugged it in my 3G. I had no problems with it while it was working. Then suddenly, when I tried using it a third time, it had stopped working. Probably a connection problem because the red light indicator showing it was receiving power from the cigarette lighter was on.
The phone charger I received the part that plugged into the phone did not fit, it looked like it would fit , so as cheap as it was I threw it away, sent email to where I bought it , no responce.guess you get what you pay for.
I just received this charger. The end that plugs into the phone is square & the Otterbox case is oval, so it will not work with the case in place on the phone. I removed the case & it will charge the phone. I will have to trade with my wife since she has the ATT store charger & no Otterbox. Wish I had read ALL the reviews. - Iphone 3g Charger - Car Charger - Iphone Charger - Iphone Car Charger'

Whirlpool Water Filter 4396510 - refrigerator water filters, water filter
I have used this filter and find this to be a very good filter for this cartridge type.
These little filters cannot remove everything from your refrigerator water system, you'll need a high quality reverse osmosis system for that.
Recently I found a website* that lists the actual impurities that this 4396510 filter removes, I quote:
* 99.35% of Lead at pH 6.5
* 99.31% of Lead at pH 8.5
* 96.70% of Mercury at pH 6.5
* 91.20% of Mercury at pH 8.5
* 99.93% of Asbestos
* 96.30% of Benzene
* 99.70% of P-Dichlorobenzene
* 99.99% of Cysts
* 85.60% of Atrazine
* 92.96% of Toxaphene
* 93.06% of 2,4-D
* 97.60% of Chlorine
* 99.30% of Turbidity
* 99.90% of Particulates (Class I)
As with all built-in refrigerator water filters, the 4396510 does not remove Fluoride.
The 4396510 cartridge is tested and certified by NSF International to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI Standards 42 & 53.
The other model cartridge (4396508) does not filter quite as much as the '10' model.
*Because HTML is not allowed in these reviews I can't show the web address.... Whirlpool 4396510P KitchenAid Quarter-Turn Cyst-Reducing Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter, 2-Pack
We have a Sears Kenmore refrigerator model number 106.53582300 (made by Whirlpool) that we purchased from Sears. It has the round water filter in the base of the refrigerator that should be replaced every year. Sears sends post cards wanting to sell us a filter for $40 plus shipping. After some research we came across this one for less and it works superbly.
Highly recommended to save money over the Sears option.
This is the second batch of these refrigerator water filters I have ordered from Amazon. Any place else you buy them will charge a lot more.
However, I learned something from another review on Amazon that I'd like to pass on: My refrigerator has an indicator light system that supposedly tells when the filter should be replaced. But the indicator lights indicate only the time since they were reset, not the amount of water that has passed through the filter.
Supposedly the filter is good for 400 gallons of water. The refrigerator assumes that by the time six months have passed you will have run 400 gallons of water through the filter. Hence, six months after resetting the indicator light system, it will again show that the filter needs replacing, no matter how much (or how little) water has actually gone through the filter.
Since I use the water dispenser on the refrigerator infrequently, and since I don't use that much ice, that means I have probably been replacing the filter before it really needed to be replaced, based solely on the fact that six months had gone by since I last replaced the filter and reset the indicator lights.
Starting with this batch of filters, I will not replace a filter until the water tastes like the filter isn't doing anything. Your mileage may vary.
We always used the original filters 9010 by Kenmore that you would get at Sears. The prices have gone up to $45 per filter! At first we were leery of how another filter would fit or how the water would taste! These replacement filters went in easier and you can taste the change in the water right away! I highly recommend these filters!
I have a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator and have used sveral brands of replacement water filters.
I have used Kenmore 46-9010
I have used WaterSentinel WSW-1
I have used Whirlpool 4396508
(the filter being rated is the newer version of the older filter above)
The Whirlpool #4396510 is the newer version and does not need to have a gallon of water run through it after installing it (even though I did flush a liter or two through it to get the air out of the system and to ensure no leaks).
What I like about this filter is the following:
1) NSF certified/tested to tests #42 and #53 (not all filters are tested at all or do not test to #53).
2) This filter claims to removes cysts (whatever they are), but again not all filters claim to remove whatever this is... so it must be a capability that this filter or the tests above meet and allow for (again, other brands do not state, so they must not)??
What I like, is that this filter is a name brand filter for $25.00/ea, tested and certfied, ships free as it meets the minimum shipping amount due to being a 2-pack (so I have year's worth of filters since I replace every 6 months as required)... and compared to the lower price of the cheaper filters available, I do not mind paying an extra $7.00/ea for the benefits mentioned above.... for me it is worth it!!!
As mentioned above, I have purchased and used various replacement filters that all seemed to work, but for the money, this filter has all the right specifications, certifications and that it is the new/updated part number to the Whirlpool filter #4396508 which does not require a gallon of water to be run through it flush out any loose carbon particles.
Buy and enjoy.
We bought the OEM at Sears for about $44 + tax, but returned it the next day when we found these here at a much better price. and ordered them. They came right away and seem to be ok. BUT--on the box where the installation instructions are there is NO reminder to take off and save the end cap from the old filter. Naturally I forgot, removed the old one and put the new one in. It did not look right, I saw what the problem was and managed to remove the new one, put on the end cap, and reinstall it. No harm, no foul, but just be careful when you install one of these. Also there was only 1 sticky to place in the refrigerator to let you know the installation/replacement dates---there should have been 2, one for each filter. - 4396508 - Water Filter - Water Filter For Refrigerator - Refrigerator Water Filters'

Harry Potter - fantasy, jk rowling
For my money, though I like the first two Potter books, this is where Rowling struck gold. I started reading the series in late 1999 or early 2000, well before GOBLET came out, and when I finished the three books that at that time were out, I thought AZKABAN was not only easily the best of three, but one of the best books I had read in a long time. The storyline is easily the strongest of the first three installments, and for once Voldemort is not the main villain driving the plot, but, so it is thought, a renegade supporter of his who murdered 13 people with a single curse.
In AZKABAN, we learn an escaped criminal from the wizard prison Azkaban by the name of Sirius Black is out on the lam looking for Potter. Black was once a vehement supporter for Voldemort, and now Black is gunning to finish off the job by murdering Potter, a task he had tried to do several years ago. Not only that, Potter learns during the course of the plot that Black was James' best friend, along with the new defense against the dark arts teacher, Remus Lupin. We get to learn who Scabbers really is (another instant of an character mentioned in passing on the first two novels who is hugely important here). Black is Potter's godfather, and yet he betrayed the Potters!
What makes Azkaban so interesting is you really get to learn about the relationships between James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Severus Snape. These five characters, and their relationships with one another, are huge portions of the foundation on which Rowling built her series. You need a clear understanding of these characters to fully experience Rowling's series, and it is thru these characters that this book, and the series itself, is as rich as it is. The fact no one knew that the three characters were unregistered animagus to help Remus cope with his condition was pretty cool.
For once, Rowling introduces a new magical artifiact called the Marauder's Map, which she uncharacteristically fully explains by the end of the novel. It was made by Padfoot, Moony, Wormtail, and Prongs, which are the nicknames of James and his crew. The map shows you the location of every one on the Hogwarts grounds, a tremendously useful item, supplied, appropriately enough, by those masters of mischief, Fred and George.
Another great new bit of magic in the book is the Patronus, a magical spell that will help fight back the dementors and fear, a very advanced piece of magic for third years. It is also very touching to know why Harry's patronus is a stag, as that is what his father transformed into.
There are also other memorable scenes and events. You get Hermione and the Time Turners, Buckbeak the Hippogriff, Professor Trelawney, the Dementors, the Maurader's Map, etc. The climax of the novel is great, but for me, it's that time when Remus, Sirus, Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Snape are all in that Shreiking Shack, and you finally get to learn a lot of key information about Harry's past.
Ironically enough, though I have long held the opinion this is the best Potter book of them all (not including Book 7), this book has the worst movie adaptation, BECAUSE they don't fully establish all the different relationships between the four, or even explain the Marauder's Map.
For myself, this is easily my favorite of the Potter novels, or was until DEATHLY HALLOWS came out. Still, I have had a great history with this book, and probably reread this more than all the other Potter books. This is the second best Potter book.
These are my order of Potter books by preference:
Deathly Hallows
Prisoner of Azkaban
Order of the Phoenix
Philosopher's Stone/Chamber of Secrets (I rank them both the same)
Half-Blood Prince
Goblet of Fire. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
In anticipation of Harry Potter, Book 4, I had to read the first three books again. What I was struck with, again, is the sheer imaginative nature of J.K. Rowling's books. Simply put, these books are instant classics."Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is the third in the series following Harry Potter at Hogwart's school of wizardry. Harry is now a 13-year old (his birthday occurring at the beginning of the book), and concerned mostly with classes, Quidditch (a wizard sport), and the fact that he's not allowed to visit the local wizard village of Hogsmeade with his friends on the weekends. One of the reasons for this is that Sirius Black, a convicted murderer, has broken out of Azkaban, the wizard prison, and word has it that he's out to get Harry.In keeping with Harry Potter tradition, the reader can expect surprises, twists and turns, malicious rivals, uncommonly kind professors, terrible relatives, amazing magic candy, true friendships, and a whiz-bang ending.It's delightful to see how Rowling can stay true to the feel of the previous books, and yet allow Harry and friends to mature. This book is a little longer than the previous books, but the imagination never lets up, and gradually Harry's world is widening.I would recommend this book to ANYONE (any age) who enjoys the writings of Roald Dahl, C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L'Engle, or J.R.R. Tolkien. This is a very fun, humourous, and enjoyable fantasy novel, and one that should be read more than once!
(Previously Posted) This series is the best I've ever read, and Harry Potter's latest year at Hogwarts is no disappointment. The powerful dark wizard, Sirius Black, has escaped from the magical prison Azkaban, and he's after Harry! But Harry and his best friends(Ron and Hermione) don't know the whole story. Harry learns the secrets behind what happened the night Voldemort failed to destroy him. And really...why DOES Professor Snape hate him? All the old characters return, along with the introduction of new ones, for another terrific book. Enjoying a well-deserved stint at the top of various selling lists, the story is intelligent, thrilling, and laugh out loud humorous. I am a 14 year old high school student, but when I began to hear all about Harry, I just had to purchase all three books for myself--using my own money! But it was well worth it. I read all three books over and over. They will keep readers of all ages entertained with their intriguing plots. Other children's authors I enjoy are Roald Dahl, Louis Sachar, Mark Twain, C.S. Lewis, and E.B. White. - Fantasy - Magic - Witches - Jk Rowling'

Billy Bob Thornton
This was a great modern exploitation movie. It had some decent acting, and contrary to some other reviews - The Rock hardly speaks in it, which is one of the things that makes it a great flick. He has tapped back into that imposing WWE persona, and brought it to the big screen again. His presence, his attitude and his demeanor is absolutely perfect for the role. There isn't an ounce of Tooth Fairy in this performance.
The overall story and how it plays out is very much influenced by the genre. There are so many great examples of this in the film, it really is a treat if you're into that. It's a really fine example of modern exploitation flimmaking. I don't know where CBS films is going to go, but hopefully they will not have given up on this type of movie.
Don't go into this movie thinking it's a highbrow heist film or savvy thriller - it's a visceral blow-em-up action flick that is probably best watched with your wife at the grocery store or at her sewing class. Crack open a beer, open up a bag of Little Smokies and sit on the couch for an hour and a half of blowing stuff up and sweet, sweet revenge - 80's style. Faster
I know this movie did not do that well money wise, but I thought it was the Rock at his finest. He was made for this role and performed it like a veteran actor. It is similiar to other movies involving revenge, but this movie takes it to a much higher and violent level. The action is very fast paced and actual bordered on brutal killings, which are great and crowd pleasing as you root for the protagonist to "Get Even". Billy Bob Thorton is good as always while playing a burned out detective.
I can not say too much more or it will spoil the different plot twists in the movie especially towards the end. You don't have to be a Dwyane Johnson fan to really love this movie. Johnson simply excels in his role due to his physicality in looking the part he is playing, and the bonus is the action and excitement. Great movie. If you saw "Walking Tall" and liked it, you will love this one all that much more as it is a much better movie.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has no real name in this movie, just his occupation: Driver. Similarly, Billy Bob Thornton is "Cop." That must have been difficult to come up with. A completely unnecessary third-wheel-subplot is present, showing off a millionaire software developer assassin who has mastered yoga (seriously) and gets to shag Maggie Grace - whose role as hot girlfriend is so pointless it should have been uncredited - is hardly worth mentioning.
After being released from prison, Driver jumps in the car set up by a P.I. acquaintance of his, drives to a local telemarketing office, and sprays some nerd's brain matter on the back of his cubicle. If there is a better way to get me on the side of a guy embarking on a cross-country, revenge-filled murdering spree - which is tracked by Cop and his partner Cop with Breasts (Carla Gugino) - then I don't know of it; because everyone hates telemarketers. Through flashbacks we learn that Driver's brother (and crew) were involved in a bank heist and later murdered for their score. Up next: Death Wish Johnson!
Flaws in character development abound, as very little is learned about Driver, but a ton of time is spent on Billy Bob's failed marriage, portly kid, and drug problem. Each of the characters is transparently established as flawed, and the certainty of their eventual revelation makes tomorrow's sunrise doubtful. The cinematography and limited special effects are both unremarkable. Acting-wise, this film has the gusto of a professional cast already reading their next script; it never reaches the crescendo of expected excitement. Evidently two decent car chases and a few head shots just wasn't enough to get the cast fully enthralled either. I will say, however, that Johnson definitely steps outside his comfort zone, displaying what appeared to be genuine vulnerability to pair with already mastered anger.
While disappointing, Faster is nonetheless in my beloved "Death Wish," screw with me and I'll kill everyone you know, category. So, for that, it gets extra points. Besides all that, I'm for any opportunity that keeps the Rock out of family films or a fairy costume.
Jason Elin
So I decided this evening that I was in the mood for some mindless action - not typically the genre I usually watch. But regardless, I decided to watch "Faster." I knew very early on that this was definitely a mindless action movie and not to have very high expectations. When the movie's main characters have names such as "Driver," "Cop," and "Killer," you don't really expect much. But about an hour into the movie, I was completely caught off guard.
The last thirty minutes or so of the movie are surprisingly and uncommonly powerful. I wouldn't nominate this film for any awards for its acting or its story, but for what the movie had me believing it was, the last third of the movie was quite emotional. I will admit that I was even a little choked up and almost teary during some scenes. But I have a tendency to really analyze those types of scenarios on a personal, and almost empathic level, so many of you may not have the same experience.
But regardless, it was a fairly decent revenge flick with plenty to keep you entertained.
The Rock appears in this action film about a man involved in a robbery, after which his brother was killed. When his prison sentence concludes, he seeks revenge on those responsible for his brother's death. During his pursuit of those whom he seeks, there is a hitman after him, the reasons for the hitman being hired being unknown to the audience until the film's conclusion. The men that are being pursued are primarily flawed criminals and the character portrayed by Dwayne Johnson has redeeming qualities, so the audience is not asked to invest any moral assessments, but the mystery of the hired assassin elevates this slightly above your standard revenge movie.'

Matthew Broderick - helen hunt, matthew broderick
Released earlier this year, Baby Mama covers the same emotional territory but in much broader slapstick terms, while this 2008 serio-comedy is driven far more by character than situation. In this case, the protagonist is 39-year-old April Epner, a New York kindergarten teacher who was raised in a close-knit Jewish family and desperately wants the biological connection of a birth child before her alarm clock goes off. She marries fellow teacher Ben, an inarticulate schlub with a terminal case of the Peter Pan Syndrome. After a brief time, he wants out of the marriage, and at almost the same time, April's adoptive mother Trudy dies. Not even a month goes by before April's biological mother suddenly shows up in the form of the brazenly overbearing but genuinely likeable Bernice Graves, a cable talk-show hostess who is something of a local media celebrity. If life was not complicated enough, April also finds herself drawn to Frank, the single father of one of her pupils. Unlike Ben, he feels the same about April but is fighting his own bitterness about his own recent divorce.
Not only does Helen Hunt star as April, but she also co-wrote the screenplay with Alice Arlen and Victor Levin and makes her big-screen directorial debut. Granted she's more impressive as an actress than a filmmaker, but as a director and writer, she makes the most of a storyline that stacks the deck a bit like a Lifetime TV-movie. There are enough realistic surprises that take the plot off the rails in a good way. Looking gaunt and avoiding much make-up, Hunt is really playing a variation of the beaten-down waitress she played in As Good As It Gets, as she carries that same constantly pained expression of disappointment and looks about to explode during moments of emotional duress. However, a decade later, Hunt inhabits the character more naturalistically this time and with a deeper sense of vulnerability and haggard exhaustion. Perhaps to minimize any unnecessary dramatic risk, Hunt cast the other principal roles with actors playing familiar parts. Matthew Broderick effectively portrays Ben as the perpetually dazed man-child he is, while perennial love interest Colin Firth gives texture to the seemingly ideal suitor Frank, especially as he edges toward the breaking point in tolerating the sum of April's foibles.
In one of her increasingly rare screen appearances, Bette Midler gives a scene-stealing performance as Bernice. She lights up the movie with the character's unfettered sense of abandonment while gradually exposing the secrets that threaten to undermine her newly found relationship with her daughter. Other parts are played with minimum fuss - Ben Shenkman as April's physician brother Freddy feeling put-upon for having a biological tie to their mother, and Salman Rushdie (yes, the controversial author of The Satanic Verses which brought him a death sentence from the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989) as April's doctor. Hunt provides the principal actors, especially herself, plenty of good, meaty scenes with opportunities for bravura moments, and they do deliver. It just doesn't quite come together as a whole by the end, and that may be that Hunt is so used to the sitcom format of the long-running series, Mad About You. The incomplete result is that some laughs feel a bit contrived, some scene transitions seem jarring, and some expected character revelations are given short shrift. Nonetheless, the dramatic developments toward the end carry the emotional impact necessary to make the movie truly affecting, and Hunt should be given full credit for a most auspicious debut as a filmmaker. Then She Found Me
In a featurette on the DVD release version of THEN SHE FOUND ME writer (with Alice Arlen and Victor Levin) /producer/director Helen Hunt shares a ten year journey to have a film made of a novel by Elinor Lipman. Her cast shares in the very sentimental story of Hunt's devotion and seemingly endless charisma and abilities. The explanation for making this budget film are in many ways more successful than the film, a work the cast seems determined to classify as a comedy but a work that is far more a human drama.
April Epner (Helen Hunt) is married to fellow schoolteacher Ben Green (Matthew Broderick) and longs to have a baby before her advancing age prevents her dream. April was adopted as an infant by a Jewish couple who subsequently gave birth to April's brother Freddy (Ben Shenkman): April has always longed to have been Freddy's biological equal, wondering what it would feel like NOT to be adopted. April's busy life implodes: Ben has decided he doesn't like his life and leaves April, April's mother dies, April meets Frank (Colin Firth) a recently divorced writer and father of two children, and April is contacted by a man who can put April in touch with her birth mother - popular TV talk show hostess Bernice Graves (Bette Midler). And if these turns of events weren't traumatic enough, April discovers that she has become pregnant by Ben and Ben is unsure whether he can handle the restructuring of his life to accommodate April. Cautiously April and Frank begin a rather tenuous courtship which is almost immediately threatened by April's discovery of her pregnant state. April and Bernice meet, exchange backgrounds, and make pacts to test their biologic relationship. How each of these characters makes promises that eventually damage each other and then resolve in unexpected ways becomes a study of the meaning of love and compassion among fragile human beings.
While not a satisfying story on every level and a film too cluttered with inconvenient editing choices, the cast is strong and obviously committed, and the story (neither a comedy or a drama but a mixture of the two) tests credibility. But there are some fine moments and the lessons in human behavior are worth examining. Not a great movie but a strong little small budget film. At less than a dollar each how can you go wrong? These sharpies are amazing at blacking out lines and being a bolder bigger Sharpie. Our writing has to go out in the elements and the rain doesn't make it smear. The sun however does make it fade over time. Emergency Preparedness - emergency preparedness, 72 hour kit
This kit is GREAT! Has everything you need for a family of four, including tents and blankets. I love the backpack that it comes with as well. I actually am using a cheap rolling suitcase that I bought at Walmart for my emergency supply kit holder (because I have so many things) but I have included this backpack inside the suitcase. It has reflective seams as well. The contents of this kit are great, everything you'll need. I did end up buying more water and emergency food bars though because I have two dogs as well and an infant who uses formula (that you have to mix with water). The actual first aid kit is pretty "bare bones" but it'll do the job... Deluxe Emergency Kit-4 Person, Emergency Zone Brand, Disaster Survival Kit, 72 Hour Kit
It arrived within a week, but two items were back ordered. Potable Aqua Tablets and Food rations. Customer Service at Basic Living wasn't much help at first, but I eventually got my back ordered items. For the delay they shipped the back order with a multi-tool and refunded me the shipping cost.
Pleased to get what seems to be all the key items needed for emergencies. The kit does not lack any key items needed for an unanticipated real emergency. I would recommend it as an excellent kit to have. Only negative is a couple of the items were of poor quality; but this can be overlooked because of the completeness of the kit.
I bought 3 different Emergency Zone kits because we have a large family. We looked at making our own kit but by the time we even went to Walmart to get the backpack and all the stuff inside, it would have turned out to be a lot more expensive. Everything fits well into the backpack with some extra space for personal items, but not a lot. For 4 people it helps to have an extra backpack for a change of clothes etc. This is great for the emergency supplies though. The best part of this is that you can buy it and keep it in the garage or car and you know it is ready to go any time. We keep ours in the garage. It pretty much takes care of the standard items like food, water, radio, flashlight, first aid kit and a few tools. The Survivor 4 Person Emergency Kit we bought along with this had more items and a great backpack with lots of pockets to organize things more, but this one is a good kit and a great price.
Do your self a favor and DON'T get this kit. Take a couple hours out of your day and get everything at your local dollar store. Order your 3-day supply of food and water...but everything else was really cheap. I literally opened it, packed it back up, and had the return label back on it within 10 minutes. - Emergency Kit - 72 Hour Kit - Disaster Kit - Emergency Preparedness'

Kick Scooters - kick scooters, mini scooter
Bought this for our 5-year old daughter. Overall the kids would give it 5 stars for sheer fun, and I love that it gets them active outside and they don't complain about taking walks with us. I did take off a star for poor customer service (see below) and not being able to fold, or at least easily remove the handle bar for travel.
We debated mini or maxi (daughter is VERY short for 5), due to its adjustability the Maxi was the right choice. In lowest position its handle height is the same as the mini. WE purchased directly from the manufacturer website. When one of the handlebar covers broke (circular, round rubber ball piece on the end cracked and eventually fell off completely), they (kickboard USA) did not respond to our request for a replacement, despite the defect occurring the day after we received the scooter! So we were disappointed with the customer service, particularly given the price of the scooter.
Having said that, my daughter adores the scooter! She simply could not balance a razor, no matter how hard she tried. She picked up on the steering very quickly, less than a day. Many of my neighbors ask me where I got it, their little ones enjoy it too! It provides a fast and smooth ride. I had reservations when I saw the plastic board, and plastic parts, but it seems better made than my son's razor which lasted less than a year. We've had this for 6 months and aside from the handlbar-cover problem, it's going strong. Also, my son (8) prefers it to his old razor. They argue over it so much we are going to get a second one for him, this time we'll get it from Amazon. It has been indispensible for trips to NYC because the kids don't complain about walking long distances.
Note - it does NOT fold, a feature that would be very helpful. Although it arrived in two pieces, now that we have attached the T-bar handle to the board we have been unable to take it off again, making trips on the subway a little more difficult. It is very light, a huge plus. It's nice they've expanded the color options, when we purchased it was either black or purple. The purple appears exactly as on my web browser. maxi kick® Scooter - PURPLE with T-BAR Steering. Winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold and Platinum Seal Awards, 2009
I purchased this scooter for my 4 year old daughter. It was a replacement for the mini-kickboard that she rode into the ground. Yes, it is pricey compared to other scooters, but this thing is so well made that it is worth the money. Additionally, the confidence that it gives my daughter while zooming around my neighborhood is priceless. I was not a fan of the purple as seen on the website, but it looks much better in person.
We purchased this scooter for our 10 year old daughter who is developmentally delayed. She loves her big brother's micro scooter but is unable to ride it due to balance issues. She is too large for toddler scooters. This scooter was brought to her by Santa and she LOVES it. She can balance and maneuver it quite easily and is learning to propel it by pushing the floor.
I purchased this scooter for my 5 and 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. I was immediately impressed with the quality of them item, including the relatively easy and secure assembly. I was amazed at how quickly my daughter mastered the lean-to-steer concept and breaking mechanism. We haven't been able to "road test" the scooter outside due to an abnormally snowy and icy winter, but our house has wood floors throughout and she rides it constantly. That said, the wheels on this scooter DO NOT even make a mark on the wood floors, although once it goes outside, I will no longer let her ride in the house. I was initially put-off by the price, but I would definitely purchase again if given the choice.
We love this scooter. It is pricey but well worth it. It is durable and one outside toy that will last for many years! Our youngest has the mini and it was such a hit we had to get our oldest one too. Much smoother ride than the usual ones.
We got this after a smaller scooter, for our small-stature 6-year-old. It comes assembled and is constructed very well. The wide base allows for good balance, and the rear foot brake is a nice step up from the smaller scooter. Our daughter loves riding around on this in our neighborhood. I'd recommend it to anyone.
My girl is not quite balanced enough to work on a scooter with two wheels, so I figured this would do the trick. After an apprehensive first ride, she got the hang of it and is now a speed demon. I love the scooter and how it's going to grow with her. I know it's a little more expensive than the others out there, but I would but it again in a heartbeat. - Three-wheeled Scooters - Mini Scooter - Kick Scooters'

Wrapping Paper - shipping, wrapping paper
I decided to simplify my life and wrap all gifts for all occasions in brown paper, with different ribbons. This paper is perfect; very sturdy, but looks nice with any color ribbon! My mother was over after I wrapped all of my Christmas presents and commented on how nice they look. I will definitely be using this paper for all gifts in the future! Quality Park Wrapping Paper Roll, 35 lb, 24 Inches x 65 Feet, Kraft Brown, 1 Roll (46152)
I expected to be shipping a lot of board games over the next few months so I bought two rolls of this paper. It was thinner than the stuff I'd bought at local packing stores, but it's still useful and effective, and much cheaper per foot!
This is high quality paper. I purchased raffia to go with it as well and they make a great looking gift! I am getting married soon and my main colors are green and brown, this goes great with the color scheme! I was worried that the paper may be "cheap" however, that is the exact opposite. The paper is VERY thick and wraps well.
As another person reviewed the product and said she uses it for Christmas gifts and changes the bows, I think that's a great idea! It makes for a beautiful package!
This was a great quality product and very well priced. It is lasting very well, I have many gifts to wrap and frequently ship to my family overseas. This paper is of a hardy, durable nature and I highly recommend it.
Pros-Shipping was very prompt, pricing excellent! alot of wrapping paper here for many presents, the thickness of the individual sheets rolled are very sturdy....Cons-however wrapping paper was very dull and practical more or less humbling I might add, I did not expect it to look exactly like UPS boxes lol (the Amazon visual had atleast a finishing glossy shine to it) nevertheless I'm still very pleased, I will just add some creative xmas multicolors bows and some golds ribbons etc to spice up my gifts packaging. Happy online shopping!
Have you wondered what that brown paper companies use to mail packages? This is it. It's very durable and the roll has quite a bit on it. I use it for boxes with large items in them, such as flat screens. Just wrap the box like a christmas present and it's ready for the mail. I imagine it could be used for in box packaging like bubble wrap or for moving.
The roll arrived in good shape, but was a bit lighter than I had originally expected. The paper is of good quality and it will see a lot of use as packing paper and general purpose paper. That's about as much as I can say! It's good stuff.
I read the reviews before buying this paper and was very disappointed as to how thin it is. I ship packages worldwide daily and find myself double wrapping this paper and taping it like crazy so it doesn't tear or ruin the contents. Will continue to use as packing paper only. - Shipping - Brown - Wrapping Paper'

Swimwear
We purchased this suit because my son started swim class and would get out shivering after every class. We thought this would help and boy did it do the trick. He wore it for his last class and the instructor commented afterwards that the suit must have really helped him because he was able to focus and do more things in the water than before. The material is not too thin and not too thick. My son is very lean and this suit was a little bit loose in some places but not too loose to be considered big. I think it will grow with him over the next year or so and is worth the money. I would recommend this suit for anyone that has a child that is lean and needing a bit more insulation in the water.
Also I am so glad that I read the other reviews before purchasing because the SIZE was just right based on the review and NOT the size chart that was given. My son is 6yrs old and weighs a little less than 50lbs. If I had gone by the size chart I think I was going to order a 6 or an 8 but ended up ordering a 4 based on reviews here on Amazon. Boy am I glad I did because I would have had to send it back. Very happy with this suit and glad I purchased it.
Thanks to everyone that reviewed this item before me because that really helped me make my decision and also helped with the sizing issue. Hyperflex Wetsuits Children's Access 2.5mm Spring Suit,Black/Blue,4
My 8 year old is very thin and has no body fat to speak of, so he gets chilled quickly when swimming. This helps; he still gets chilled, but somewhat slower. He's average height for an 8 year old. The size 8 was a bit loose, because he's so thin; he's comfortable in it but because it is loose, cool water gets in, decreasing its effectiveness. However I wouldn't have expected a perfect fit for such a slim kid. It also gives him room to grow into it so we should get two year's use out of it. We've only used it a few times, but so far it seems reasonably well-made and durable.
I'm ambivalent about the zipper in back. It means he needs help getting into and out of the suit which is a bummer. But I was worried that a front zipper would be uncomfortable laying belly down on a boogie board which he loves to do.
We bought size 4 for our 7 year old, 37 lb daughter, (small and thin for her age)and size was good. We also initially bought a size 2 for our 5 year old, 35 lb son, and it was way too tight, he would not even let us put it on him all the way. We returned it, and bought another size 4 for him, which was also just about perfect, only slightly on the big side. Girl`s baby blue colour suit has some nice, understated flower graphics on the shoulders. Both kids are now much warmer in and around the water now. We could not find these small sizes at retail stores around our city.
I bought two wetsuits for my sons. My oldest got an O'Neil, and it is perfect in every way. My youngest got the hyperflex, and it just doesn't quite have the fit and finnish of the O'Neil. Also, the arms are a little tight relative to the rest of the suit.
I bougth it for a trip to Baja California in Mexico. My kids enjoy allot the sea and the nature because they used these wetsuit and the did not complaint about the wather temperature. Good price, good quality.
Our 7 year old son always turns blue while swimming, whether it's an outdoor pool in the sun or an indoor pool in the winter. We purchased this wetsuit for him, based on the other reviews that it was a good fit for thin children. My son is 49 inches tall and only weighs 37 pounds, so we really needed to be careful about what we purchased. We are very happy with the fit and warmth of this wetsuit. It still is just a bit loose on him though. As soon as he got into the pool, he said he could feel the cold water inside the wetsuit, but the bottom line is this...the wetsuit still prevents him from shivering and turning blue, so it's doing it's job well!!'
