Screen Protection - screen protection, accessories
The screen protector is slightly too large for a Blackberry storm. Worse yet, there are two tabs that are attached to the protector. The first removes a piece of plastic to expose the static surface, and the second says remove after application to the device. That tab would not come off!!! Even after I scrapped at it and tried a damp cloth to release the glue. It left paper stuck to the screen! Spend a few bucks more and get one made for the Storm that doesn't have paper glued to it. High Quality Screen Protector Guard for BlackBerry Storm 9500 9530
Pros:
Easy to apply. No bubbles or sticky rsidue
Colors and sharpness are preserved thanks to the glossy finish
Touch screen functionality is preserved
Only $2:50 delivered in just 4 days
Cons:
Protector is about 7 mm too long
Only one was supplied - certainly not the advertized three!! would have been nice to have at least 2 in case installation failed
Shows smudges just like the original screen due to glossy finish. Not a bad trade off for the enhanced sharpness
Bottom line: works better than most matt protectors i have seen that really dull the look of the screen. for $2:50 you can't go wrong
2 big problems.
1. The order page clearly says there are 3 covers in the package. There was only 1.
2. The sticker did not come off easily. This left a residue of glue and paper on the screen cover, rendering it useless.
I recommend ordering from someone else.
This screen protector is crap. It's much thicker than the screen protectors that are available at the local Verizon Wireless outlet. With this screen protector applied to the Blackberry Storm, the display becomes somewhat occluded because of the thickness of the protector and there is a lot of glare rendering characters on the display difficult to see clearly. The original protectors are far superior to this aftermarket junk. I wouldn't pay 2 cents for the entire inventory of the company that makes these aftermarket duds.
The screen protector fit perfectly and was easy to put on. My only complaint and it is a very small one is that the screen is not as slick as it was when nothing was on it. I would get this screen protector again.

Iphone Car Charger - iphone, ipod car charger
We own several Palm Pre's and wanted to use this dual charger to power them up in our car. Unfortunately this device can't provide sufficient power to charge 2 at once. It can charge one Palm Pre at a time, but can't charge up 2 at a time.
If you have cell phones, or devices that need 800-1,000ma each, this charger can't do it. Total power out seems to be about 800ma split between the two USB ports.
Other than being weak in the power department, the unit appears to be well constructed, it does fit 2 USB cords comfortably, and has a charge indicator light so you know when its in use. Scosche Dual USB Car Charger
This is a cheap way of charging any device that will charge via a regular USB port. I have used it in my car for several months without a problem. It did a fine job with my AT&T Tilt phone and my iPod.
Before you invest in this or any other standalone USB charger, you should make sure that your device will charge via USB cable alone. Many phones (Motorola Razr is one) these days have what looks like a standard USB connection but require special software or adapters before they will charge.
I got this for about $5 or $10 at Wal-Mart. Great investment.
Just picked up this item from Best Buy today. Had to get a charger for my car because my IPOD interface for my stereo does not charge the 3G IPHONE. :( I was initially going to get the DLO car charger for my 3G IPHONE until the cashier told me of the Scosche USB12V2 Dual USB Car Charger. It sounded ideal since my fiance and I both have a 3G IPHONE and won't have to fight for power when riding together. Ensured that I didn't get that uncompatibility error before leaving Best Buy. Left Best Buy with 80% charge and was fully charged by the time I got home in 20 minutes.
Note: Have to use your own supplied Iphone/Ipod USB cable with adapter.
Here are the electrical specifications that were shipped with the Schosche USB12V2A Dual-USB Car Charger I received:
Power input: 12-24 VDC, 1A
Power output: 5 VDC, 2A (1A per port)
Which is just what I was hoping for.
It sure would be nice if this basic information was published in the product description here on Amazon in the future!
This charger charges my iPhone 3GS without a problem. It is also compact and aesthetically appealing. I bought it so I could charge a multitude of USB-powered devices and it works for everything I've tried with the one exception:
A Garmin Nuvi cannot be charged from this device. The Garmin Nuvi thinks it's connected to the USB port of a computer and goes into a computer mode when plugged into this device. Technically, the Nuvi is charging but it can't be used in the meantime. This is most likely a shortcoming of the Garmin Nuvi than of this particular charger.
This is a great car charger. I love the flexibility of being able to plug any USB cable into it. I bought this to replace a lost car charger, and it has exceeded my expectations. I've used this product to charge: Sprint HTC Evo 4G, Sprint HTC Hero, Apple iPhone 3G, Apple iPhone 3GS, Jawbone Headset, and even an Apple iPad. I want to specifically mention the iPad, becuase most USB chargers do not work with an iPad due to its increased wattage requirements. This works flawlessly - even while charging a cell phone too!
I ordered this about a year ago form newegg for dirt cheap (it was a special deal). This charger is a piece of cake to take apart. You just unscrew the top and remove the spring and fuse and it pops apart. It charges my Sandisk Fuze without a problem. However, I recently got a Nokia N900, but this charger would not charge the phone. This is because the N900 and many other phones use the USB charging standard in which the data pins (pins 2 + 3; the middle pins) are shorted out. So I took the charger apart, took out my soldering iron, and soldered the top usb port data pins together. I put it back together and the top port now charges my phone. Also, after the "hack" it is able to charge my sister's ipod touch. Way cheaper than an expensive charger from the cell phone manufacture. See this link for more info: [...]
I wanted a car charger for my new Droid but didn't want to pay $30 at the Verizon store. I searched Amazon and stumbled on to this. I ordered it and couldn't be more satisfied with it.
The vast majority of cell phone car chargers have a non-detachable cord with a jack on the other end that plugs into your phone, and cost $20-30. If the cable or plug develops a short, you have to replace the whole thing. If you're on a road trip and have multiple devices, like a Garmin, a cell phone, an iPod, then you have to swap out the various chargers unless you're lucky enough to have a car with two or more power outlets. Even then, it's a mess with all those chargers.
This dual USB charger requires you to purchase a separate USB cable (with a standard USB jack on one end and whatever size jack you need for your device on the other end). Amazon has plenty to choose from, and they're pretty inexpensive. Or, you can simply use the charging cable that came with your device.
I find it incredibly handy to simultaneously charge my Droid phone and my iPod from one power outlet. On road trips, my wife and I can both charge our phones from one power outlet. This is very convenient. This Scosche charger appears to be very well-made, compared to other car chargers I've used. It's solid, I'd be surprised if I didn't get many years worth of use out of it.
Best of all, it is flexible enough to charge just about any device that can be charged from a USB port on a computer. I may replace my phone or get a different MP3 player in the next year or two, but I won't have to buy another car charger.
Highly recommended! - Ipod Car Charger - Iphone - Iphone Car Charger - Usb Charger'

Cordless Headset Phone - hands free headset
As a member of the IT department at our company, I am responsible for selecting telecom products. We purchase this model for our executives. This headset is the best choice for someone who prefers the "on-ear" style headset. Great battery life, great range and no interference whatsoever. Our office is next to the airport and these headsets are not susceptible to interference at all. Jabra GN9125 SoundTube Wireless Headset
This is a great headset. I didn't realize they were so expensive, but if you spend a lot of time on the phone, it is well worth it. The sound is fantastic. I walk all over my office and into other offices with it, so it has good range on the wireless. I gave it a 3/5 stars on ease of use. I needed the help of our IT to connect it to our phone system as well as synch it. However, it looks fairly simple to hook up to a standard phone.
Purchased this item January of 2011. It woorks great... no issues. Great sound, great range and very easy to use. If you are a "pacer" (like me) when you are on those endless conference calls.... this is your headset!
I love this headset so much more than my other one. It is so light weight that I hardly even feel like I am wearing it. Unlike my old Jabra set, the ear hook is extremely soft and comfortable. I have been wearing this now for two hours-- a task unheard of with my other headset-- and I still feel nothing! I would highly recommend this wireless set to anyone looking to purchase one, especially if you spend a lot of time on the telephone.
The GN9215 works perfectly - albeit one call into Jabra, whose customer service dept. was OUTSTANDING. The guy and I joked a bit, he was American, and the call did not at all feel rushed. Afterwhich, with ONE tweak, everything was great. I have been testing calls with one individual who frequently complained before and finally said "finally, a clear call."
About ten years ago I got the boss of a real estate office the earlier model of this, a 9120 and his partner now wanted one identical to his.
The 9120 is manufacture discontinued but identical in all respects to the newer 9125 except for a different frequency and a more sturdy microphone boom.
Jabra offered to swap out the entire 9120 unit for $90 so now they both have units that will let them walk all over the office on a call, to the fax, to the front door, to the back door, just great range and great sound quality.
There are a lot of units that may be a few bucks cheaper and some that are a few bucks more, but this is really great sound quality, long talk time, fast recharge time and walk all over the place distance, you can't ask for more than than and how many headsets are still going after 10 years? - Hands Free Headset'

Grand Theft Auto - gta4, grand theft auto
Let it be said that I've never liked GTA. But I decided to get GTA4 after reading several articles about the change in direction they were taking and my god, has it paid off. This game is PHENOMENAL.
The Good:
Graphics-
Even though this game is running at 640p and is upscaled on PS3, this is a BEAUTIFUL game. It has some of the best and most natural looking water and light effects I've ever seen that appear photorealistic at times. I often stop and just stare at the waves or park and watch the sun hitting the road as it sets.
Story-
The voice acting is top notch and the cast has some truly memorable characters. This is one of the few games where I actually have an emotional response when things happen to the main characters...which is no small feat. Sometimes you have to make choices whether someone lives or dies and I found myself really struggling with the decision I thought was appropriate to my character. The pacing is great too. Just as you are getting satisfied with a particular location, you get access to a new islands and contacts so things always feel fresh.
Gameplay-
Thankfully, they eliminated all the things that made past GTAs tedious. No more going to the gym to lift weights, no more being forced to drive twenty minutes across town to do a mission. Finally, you can take a cab and opt to skip the driving when you are in a rush. They've also added a much needed cover system where tapping R1 will let you take cover behind virtually any object. This leads to some truly epic shootouts that will literally have you diving for cover.
They also made your cell phone the menu for the game and you rarely have to leave the game world immersion. Just call up your friends for missions or hanging out and watch Niko talk to them while he walks around the city. You can even buy ringtones, themes, and even get a camera phone and organizer.
There are also 200 music tracks on a dozen radio stations with great music and talk shows on all of them. You can waste hours watching TV at your house, going on dates to see shows or play pool and darts, or you can fool around on dozens of webpages at the internet cafe. Basically, there is a ton of depth here that will give the game dozens of hours of extra traction.
Multiplayer-
Just whip out your cell phone in the single player and hop right in to over 14 online game modes. Imagine running around New York with 15 friends and playing paintball in the streets. To just be able to hop into the whole of Liberty City and do ANYTHING is so fun and chaotic words can't describe it. Just last night, I joined Free Mode, where there are no rules. I proceeded to blow up 3 cop cars and run over a flock of pedestrians before getting plowed over by another player who had stolen a commuter bus and was on a rampage in Times Square. That was just the first 10 minutes. And I was having a blast that even my wife couldn't turn away from.
The Bad:
Other than minor framerate and A.I. glitches, my biggest complaint is that the game does some unnecessary forced loading. When you die on a mission instead of just asking you if you want to retry it, you die, it loads a respawn at the hospital and THEN you are asked to retry the mission, which leads to another load screen.
Every time you launch the game, you are forced to sit through a 2 minute intro movie. I suspect this is to distract you while the game loads in the background more than it is to set a mood, but it would still have been nice to be able to skip it sometimes.
Other than that, the clothing selection feature remains terrible. You have no way to quickly cycle through your wardrobe without having to spend 2-5 seconds loading each new outfit. If you're like me, you bought every outfit as soon as you could only to learn that you had to cycle through every single one anytime you wanted to change clothes. And other than buying clothes, money has absolutely no value in this game. For some reason, they didn't include a casino or the option to buy property, so you amass all this wealth and have virtually nothing to spend it on at the end of the game's main story.
The Verdict:
That said, the sheer freedom and realism of this game signal a landmark in gaming and anyone who likes video games should buy this game. It is the most fun I've ever had with a video game and provides 100+ hours of entertainment for sixty bucks. Despite a few flaws, the amount of content, fun, and depth of this game make it virtually flawless and worth your money. Grand Theft Auto IV
Just when you think you have Rockstar Games and their legendary Grand Theft Auto series figured out, they pitch you one heck of a curve. Speaking as a guy who spent so much time running amok in Vice City and San Andreas that I practically had to file tax returns there, I have been consistently surprised by the depth of play in GTA IV. Yes, it's true that the character modeling and some of the action moves are a little choppy, but most of the game looks great. Far more interesting, however, is the fact that this is not a video game per se - it borders on an interactive movie. The crime and violence in fuzzy-lit, pastel colored Vice City is practically cartoonish compared to the gritty reality of life in Liberty City in GTA IV. You're not just a thug with a bat trying to decide which car to lift, you're an immigrant with plenty of emotional baggage, forced into a series of moral quandries the outcomes of which carry implications throughout the entire game. Things you do even turn up later on the in-game radio stations!
Every generation of game console, some game is proclaimed the next coming, be it of graphics, or gameplay, or some other measurable category. GTA IV is different. You can wallow in the muck of street violence and prostitution as always, but there's a deeper moral play going on that feels unlike anything else I've encountered not only in GTA, but in video games in general. Rockstar Games may have finally located that most ephemeral of experiences - one equal parts game and cinema, without belonging entirely to either. It's going to be interesting to see how many critics and politicians seize on only the overt, adult content, without grasping how far more creative and artistic this "game" is than your average deadening FPS or racing game. Rockstar Games is to be commended for what truly deserves to be called "genius." - Ps3 Game - Gta4 - Video Games - Grand Theft Auto'

I purchased 2 of these one for each of my HDTV's and they work great. Its used to connect a PS3 and an HD Uverse receiver. Cable is very solid and at a great price for the latest and greatest HDMI cable. Would highly recommend for anyone purchasing new cables or wanting to upgrade their existing cables to 1.4 standard. AmazonBasics High Speed HDMI Cable (6.5 Feet / 2.0 Meters) - Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return [NEW MODEL]
I bought a brand new 65" TV and already had a set of HDMI cables and they worked with my other TV so, I didn't think anything of it. My new TV came, I set it up and used my regular set of HDMI cables but, I wasn't getting a picture so, I was baffled. Ironically Several days earlier I had ordered a set of AmazonBasics High Definition cables just figuring that it might enhance my picture but, not realizing that I needed a High Definition HDMI cable in order for my new TV to transmit the picture.
Well, needless to say I remembered I had ordered the High Def. cables and decided to give it a try and Voila! A big beautiful picture came up on my brand new TV.
I couldn't believe the price and quality of the product and from now on I'm an "AmazonBasics" fan.
Before I purchased this HDMI cable for my Roku XDS I shopped around first at nearby Walmart and Best Buy, and read some reviews for this product. I'm a retired electrical engineer and do not believe on going overboard, spending more than adequate to get a good result on audio and video component. There are cables in the market that are priced too high to get the money out of those people who are willing to pay the price. Those people always believed that if the price is high, the product must be very good. For digital signal transmission, this HDMI cable is more than adequate. My video and audio were not degraded, and I did not notice any lost of clarity either on video or audio signal. - Hdmi - 1080p - Amazonbasics - Hdmi Cables'

The charger is fine, but the image on Amazon does not match the charger I received. The Amazon image shows slot above the outlet prongs implying the prong fold up into the device making it more compact, like the charger that comes the Blackberry. This is NOT the case. The purchased charge is a bit larger and bulkier. It's fine for home use, but less convenient for travel.
Just disappointed the image on Amazon is NOT of the actual product. OEM Home / Wall / Travel Charger for RIM Blackberry Curve 8300 8310 8320 8330 Pearl 8100 8110 8120
just as described by seller, this is a OEM product for my blackberry, my old charger just quit working so i need a extra one, i bought this one and is the real deal, this product in any retail store is about $30.00 and i got this one from Amazon, with a better price, free shipping and the same product you will get any where
This is a difficult product to order because of Blackberry proprietary equipment codes. OEM did their best. The fact that it didn't work as expected was not their fault, because I couldn be sure of the correct Blackberry Product code.
The price was incredible on this item, I did feel like it took a bit longer than it should have to arrive. Regardless I am satisfied with the product, much cheaper than the rip-off price you get at cell phone stores.
this came exactly as pictured/described. it looks exactly like the ones I bought at the TMobile store. this charger came with foldable prongs and I noticed no differnce in charging speed. not sure if it is a fake or not, but it appears legitamate. I would purchase again.
I NEEDED TO BUY A EXTRA CHARGER SO I CAN USE IT WHEN I TRAVEL. I WAS GONNA PAY AN OUTRAGEOUS PRICE AT THE SPRINT STORE AND I TOLD MYSELF TO TRY AMAZON 1ST. I'M GLAD I DID. I FOUND THIS FOR A GREAT PRICE AND IT WORKS PERFECT. - Blackberry - Blackberry Curve - Charger - Blackberry Charger'

Cordless Drill - dewalt, 18 volt
I'm a contractor and our company specializes in erecting condos so we are more than familiar with our power tools. When I first started my job I invested in this DeWalt drill since EVERYONE has one. After using it for a while I feel that it is not all that it is hopped up to be, the battery life sucks and I had to replace the battery after a couple months because it stopped holding its charge. After trying out others I would recommend Makita for the price and performance, also do stay away from Ryobi that brand of power tools is a joke (I would get it for my learning teen but not for professional use). DEWALT DC720KA Cordless 18-Volt Compact Drill/Driver
As a matter of full disclosure, I am using this drill as a DIY homeowner on minor projects. This drill was my upgrade into the world of pro-grade power tools from a cheapo 14.4V Black & Decker drill. I upgraded primarily because I was frustrated by having to drill pilot holes for lag screws all the time due to the lack of power. Furthermore, my former so-called variable speed drill only had two speeds, namely 400 or 800 rpm, nothing in between so I was constantly stripping screw heads. After doing some serious research into Makita, Milwaukee, Hitachi, and Dewalt, I chose Dewalt. Why? Because of the power and construction of the tool. Dewalt uses its own measurement of torque (Unit Watts Out) whereas most other companies list max torque in ft-lbs. In my opinion, I best equate UWO to the amplifier rating in audio receivers. In receivers, many companies list their amplifier rating with only one channel driven. Rarely do companies list amplifier rating with all channels driven. UWO, to me, is Dewalt's real world sustained torque rating like all channels driven in an amplifier. So for this drill, although Dewalt lists it at 410 UWO, I think this probably equates to nearly peak torque of at least 450 ft lbs if not more. Also, I really liked the fact that Dewalt uses all-metal gears and it has solid magnet construction in its motor.
For whatever reason, although most companies have wholeheartedly embraced the Lion technology, Dewalt has chose to slowly move into it and, thus, still has a large portion of tools with NiCd batteries. I really debated about the whole NiCd v Lion thing. But really, for my purposes, I doubt I will be using the drill so much that I will use up 2 batteries. I really think having a back-up battery negates the charge time issue. Of course there's the weight issue, but again, for me, a difference in weigh of 6-8 oz is not a game breaker.
The closest drill to the DC720KA was the Hitachi DS18DSAL. Really solidly constructed drill with good power. Unfortunately, from a purely superficial standpoint, the Hitachi looks like a toy with the green molding. So I went with the Dewalt. In terms of real world performance, really happy so far. Was able to drill 2" long - 1/8" dia. screws into studs without a pilot, no problem. This sucker has power. Really like the LED light. The added heft of the NiCd gives the drill really good balance. Trigger felt right and was able to modulate speed very accurately (true variable speed!). I hope this review helps because other reviews just seem to spout off Dewalt sucks or "it's not lithium so it sucks" type comments.
I bought one of these about 6 months ago, used it and gave away to my brother in-law.
A week ago I bought a Ridgid R86007N which is identical to the DeWalt DC720KA except here is where the Rigid beats the DeWalt in all categories.
(1) Tested driving large screws into 2x4's The Rigid was able to sink the screw deeper with less effort.
(2) The Rigid is lighter by 1 lb. Less Hand fatigue.
(3) The Ridgid is more compact and smaller with more power.
(3) The Rigid uses a 18V Lithium-Ion Battery instead of a 18V Ni-Cad Battery. There no comparison between the Lithium-Ion which leaves a Ni-Cad in the dust. It has more power, lasts longer and takes shorter time to charge.
(4) The DeWalt has 3 or 5 year warranty. The Ridgid has a life-time Warranty.
For a manufacture to give a Life-time warranty speaks for itself in the confidence of quality in the product.
(5) There other minor advantages, but the con is, the Ridgid doesn't come with a Case. So I bought 2ea Husky cases for $9.98 a pair, while on sale.
Both the DeWalt and the Ridgid were on Sale for $99.00 ea. at Home Depot (2010 after Black Friday sale). I don't know how long the sale will last. Even though I have a workshop full of both DeWalt & Ridgid tools I feel one should give credit when credit is due.
This drill is exactly what I was looking for, small, relatively light, and has lots of power. The light onthe front is a great feature and the one handed chuck is great. It also uses my 18v XBR batteries as well...a nice feature if you are going to take it out somewhere.
The Drill is OK and my husband liked it OK. However, when I called the vendor and asked for specifics I was told it was a Lithium battery and on that basis I ordered it. When it came, it was a Nikad battery instead which is heavier. I was very disappointed. The drill itself is well made but I was not happy with the misinformation given me. I would not have purchased it if I had known. When I went back on-line to see what happened, I saw on the info sheet of the product that it said Nikad, but in the phone conversation in comparing various tools, I took good notes and I had specifically asked the rep if it was lithium which he said it WAS. Not good communication on his part or truthful. :( Service I would give only one star.
Bought this for my farmer/trucker husband who has no tools actually at the house because they're all on the truck or at the farm! Comes in super handy for all the curtains & pictures we've hung as well as putting together furniture, fixing bathroom fans, etc. Came with extra battery pack & carrying case: AWESOME! Great price too! - Dewalt - 18v - 18 Volt - Drill'

Wool Blanket
While it's a nice warm blanket...it's a full five inches short of the advertised length. Says 72". Measures out to 67". It is also a couple of inches narrower than advertised. Still, it's large enough, though those few inches matter...my feet stick out, or the top of my shoulders do, if I'm just wrapping myself up in it.
It's not a bad blanket for that, though. Nice and warm, thick, not to itchy. Maybe it was washed at some point and shrank. German Wool Blanket
I just received the blanket and was a bit disappointed with it. I understand it is surplus, but it has several spots where the wool has worn thin or completely off. There are also several stains and matted spots. That is one of the only things about ordering surplus stuff online, you can't pick through the selection and get the best ones. I can also verify that the blanket is slightly smaller than the size advertised. However, if it is indeed 100% wool as they claim, $20 isn't a bad price even for a used one.
I was happy to see the blanket is thick and soft, not like the thin scratchy green wool blankets I knew growing up. It's prolly twice as thick as those and you could put it on your bed or wrap up in it on the couch - I got it for emergency use. The piping around the edges is some kind of synthetic that looks durable, well stitched. I worried there would be mothball smell based on experience others have had with foreign surplus blankets but no smell at all. It smells like a surplus store if u put ur nose on it and take a big drag. The only down sides are that it is not 80x62 (more like 72"x55") and there are a few small patches where it is worn thinner. No biggie considering the price. I am 6' and 2(nevermind)lbs and it covers my head, torso, arms and lap when seated. Others sell these for 50% more and up. Remember that nothing insulates like wool when it's damp, u should have something like this in your kit.'

Dragon Naturally Speaking
DNS 11.5 Home was a lightning deal yesterday (10/2/11) so I snagged it, thinking it was a great deal. I now regret, so very much, having purchased this product. The installation, on my Dell Inspiron N4110 was a terrible hassle. I got the same error over and over again regarding the state of my visual c++ runtime environment - it needed to be upgraded to the DNS version, but the DNS version didn't want to, but would if I wanted to risk a busted install. I spent at least two hours looking around the web for solutions to this and trying the various things that various websites, including the Nuance website, suggested. Finally, I simply proceeded with the installation and risked the busted install. I guess that's what I got. The install finished, I read a few training texts to get the software used to my voice and speech patterns, etc. Now, whenever I try to run another training text, I get an error when DNS tries to update my profile. There seems not to be, as far as the 30 minutes I spent searching the Nuance website leads me to believe, even a little bit of information about the error I'm getting. In the most recent forum I read, someone suggested that getting the Home or Standard version was a huge mistake. I concur. Dragon Home 11 + USB Sound Adapter
I just want to say that Dragon has come a long way. I think I owned the version 5 of dragon a long time ago and it worked okay for the day and age that it was made. You have to go back and fix some words every now and then but it was a lot easier than trying to type it all out by hand, since I'm not a typist. This new version of Dragon is just outrageous in the way it works, even if you don't know how to spell the word as long as you can say it Dragon will spell it for you, no need to drag out the dictionary. This version will precisely even spell out people's names as long as you can pronounce them right. I haven't owned this version for very long and am probably only using one sixth of what it is capable of doing. I am using it right now to write this review and if I had to type it using my finger pecking capabilities it would have took me forever to type this. I cannot say enough about this version of Dragon I am in no way sorry that I bought it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great typing program. I was skeptical at first but after using it I don't know what I would do without it. So just buy it you won't be sorry, not one misspelled word in this review. And I would have had to get out the dictionary to figure out how to spell at least a few of the words in this review. But it wasn't necessary. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart Dragon for making such a reliable program.
This is my third version of Dragon, and, frankly, it's the same thing all over again. As usual, it's only really functional if you don't allow it to do commands (i.e. keep it in "dictation mode"). Otherwise you'll be opening programs and changing fonts and Lord knows what else without meaning to. It still *loves* to mishear words when they sound a little like commands. The accuracy for pure dictation continues to be pretty good, unless you use the scandalously bad headset and "USB Sound Adapter" provided; they are a joke. They reduce accuracy and have continually caused my computer to be unable to produce sounds even after turning off Dragon and pulling the headset. My $10 GE 98950 microphone is vastly more accurate and less buggy. Of course, it (Dragon) still gets fried after an hour or two of dictation. Meanwhile, the one "advance" is that they seem to have finally noticed that their "help" is garbage, so they've added a help sidebar that rearranges your desktop icons every time you open the program. Actually, the "Dragon bar" does that too. It's not that they're doing a good job of providing help: they never have and undoubtedly never will. But they're making a big show of it, and I guess that's the best we can hope for. Training to your voice is still pointless, and all the other "tools" to improve accuracy continue to not do a damn thing. Well, this is what being a monopoly does for you. They obviously stopped caring many years ago, but if you are a poor typist and have Windows 7, what choice do you have? No, Windows Speech Recognition is not a choice. At least Dragon is still basically pretty accurate and it doesn't work any worse than before.UPDATE: Apparently Windows Speech Recognition has gotten much, much better in the last 2 years. It is better than Dragon in stability, ease of use, training, design of the interface, and only using about 1/6 of the memory that Dragon requires. The accuracy seems slightly better than Dragon as well. The only drawback is that it is barely functional within Chrome and Firefox, but if you need to type a lot in your browser you can do it in WordPad and cut and paste. And, of course, it's *free* with Windows. I doubt that I will ever use Dragon again.
I just installed this program about an hour ago. I am talking to it to write this review. I went through the voice recognition which was part of the setup and then I said to it " bring up Microsoft Word" and it did! I dictated a letter for practice, I had to make a few corrections but I feel this is a normal part of getting acquainted with each other. I know I have a lot to learn about this program but so far I'm very impressed and how easy it is. I'm giving it five stars for now, if in the future as I use this program if I have any complications or other impressions, I will come back to this review and let anybody know who is interested how things are going, but for now I am very happy with this program.
We love this product. We are creating one profile for each member in our family! My 9 yr old daughter is planning to use it for some school assigments. It is very easy to use and it's amazing how the software gets smarter every time you use it. It came with usb sound adapter and headset.'

Architecture
Robert Sharoff and William Zbaren are much more than today's finest writer/photographer team now producing books on American architecture. They are urban archeologists who methodically examine their chosen subjects and then thoughtfully construct narratives that shed new light on their meaning. Their genius is not just in the way they reinterpret a city's familiar signature buildings - it's also in the attention and affection they lavish on structures that are much less known and appreciated. In so doing they reveal the true breadth and depth of a city's cultural and commercial ambitions. Every American city has its crown jewels, buildings and spaces designed to tell the world that they are indeed a prosperous and proud place. But it is the lesser structures - public schools, municipal offices, factories, office buildings and the civic art of public spaces - that expose the true level of commitment that community leaders and residents have made to their city and their culture, and the belief they have in their future.
In "American City: Detroit Architecture," Sharoff and Zbaren covered the Motor City's grand structures designed by well known masters - the Detroit Public Library by Cass Gilbert, the Dime Building by D. H. Burnham and Company, Cadillac Place by Albert Kahn and John Portman's iconic Renaissance Center. However, it was the relatively unknown structures that Sharoff and Zbaren included - the Women's City Club by William Stratton, the Banker's Trust Company Building by Smith, Hinchman and Grylls and Cobo Hall and the Convention Center by Giffels and Rossetti - that truly spoke to Detroit's ambitions, grandeur and prowess.
"American City: St. Louis Architecture" continues this approach. Yes, Saarinen's great arch is given its due, but it is also shown its proper place - its two page spread is the same number of pages that the authors devote to Harris Armstrong's enigmatic Grant Clinic. Minoru Yamasaki's magnificent Lambert Field Main Terminal is featured, but turn the page and you find Fumihiko Maki's sublime Steinberg Hall. Sullivan's seminal Wainwright Building gets two full spreads, but so does William Ittner's peerless brick palace for children, Patrick Henry School.
Collectively, these images and words reintroduce to the world to a remarkable city. Like it's great rival, Chicago, St. Louis was also most decidedly a "city on the make" in the years following the Civil War. In the post-fire decades that Chicago was topping off one new landmark building after another, so too was St. Louis, but in its own distinctive style and manner. Moreover, the building boom in St. Louis didn't stop with the 1904 World's Fair (frequently referenced as the city's zenith), as evidenced by the striking buildings the book features from the City Beautiful era.
In the end, I think Sharoff and Zbaren are telling a story about St. Louis that is timely and long overdue:
"You may think you know what this city. Or, perhaps you've never given St. Louis a moment's thought. It's possible that you have ideas and perceptions that have been informed by the never ending stream of today's Rustbelt ruin porn. But you should take another look at St. Louis This a unique place with a formidable history of doing and being. If you want to see how an American city can function as a work of civic art in the future, take a look at what St. Louis built during its most dynamic and prosperous years."
Sharoff and Zbaren have started a new conversation about St. Louis, one that has been greatly enhanced by their words and images. In so doing, they and their patrons have given St. Louis a magnificent gift - a compelling narrative of the city's most enduring and endearing cultural artifacts. The thread they have started is open for continued discussion. One hopes that someone or some institution in St. Louis understands the remarkable opportunity this book gives them to celebrate and showcase their city. And, once they do, that the celebration continues for a long time. American City: St. Louis Architecture: Three Centuries of Design (American City Series)
I live in St Louis. I ordered the book after hearing an interview with the authors on local public radio. I AM PLEASED TO ADVISE THAT IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! I knew many of the buildings included in the book but many I did not, and the photographs are so beautiful and the narrative so engaging that I am sure it will cause me to look at everything with new eyes. It is raining today or I would be out and about with the book and maybe a friend or two checking it all out.
The book would also be terrific for visitors who have limited time to identify and visit the very best buildings here.
I only wish the authors didn't have to stop at 50 buildings.
I am going to buy the book on Detroit too and if it is half as good as this one, I will visit there with the book in hand and have a great time at it.
This book is a masterful tribute to the beauty, mystery, and architectural integrity that define and distinguish St. Louis. Providing history, context, and stylistic interpretation, Robert Sharoff's descriptions of the buildings are revelatory and at times satisfyingly acerbic. Shimmering compositions of shadow, light, and otherworldly cloud formations, William Zbaren's photographs capture the dignity of the city's classical structures and the geometric curves and angles of its modern abstractions. This book is smart and elevating. It makes me feel as if I am flying high beneath that seductive Arch.
Like Baltimore and New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Richmond, St. Louis is a city that is a small blip on the radar screen economically, but is off the charts culturally. For those of you who take the time to visit, or even live in St. Louis as I did back in the 1990s, you're in for a shock and a real architectural feast. Few places ON EARTH can match the cultural and architectural ensemble that is St. Louis. I applaud the authors' selection of the city for their book.Other reviewers have provided potential readers with thoughtful information about this lovely book, so I will not repeat them here. There are a few things I'd like to add.First, the number of entries included in this extremely selective catalog is small - 50, to be precise. About 30 of these entries I would call historic, while the others are overtly modern. The photography is the real feature here, as the text contains a twinge of classical contrivance inappropriate to the structures being discussed. This is NOT a book of classical architecture, nor is it a catalog of historic buildings. In fact, more than a few of the entries aren't buildings at all.Second, I'm a bit disappointed that the book includes not a SINGLE church. I can only conclude that the authors have done this intentionally, as St. Louis is a city absolutely crammed with breath-taking ecclesiastical architecture. No entry for the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica? What happened there? Huge, important, classical, beautiful, one of the largest churches in the world and the largest mosaic tile interior on the planet... and entirely absent. Neglecting this amazing landmark is like writing a book about Washington, DC and ignoring the White House. Private houses are also neglected, and entirely absent. Not a single house makes this list. So, while I really like this book, the building selection confuses me. While it seems that the authors want to give the reader the impression that the selection is diverse and somewhat representative, that can't explain why they have purposefully avoided churches and cathedrals in a city where those structures are SO important, beautiful and numerous. The entries are mostly commercial structures and public landmarks. If you think my review isn't "helpful," then you probably have some reservations about traditional form. I love traditional form, and I think it should be PRESERVED, including ecclesiastical form, which is so important to American history. Many of the entires are well-known, and the ones you expect are here, but I think St. Louis deserves a better, more comprehensive book.'

Black And Decker - drill, power tools
I was looking for something cheap as my first drill. From checking many different stores and drills, this was the best choice for the money. I used this successfully for installing 3 over-the-range microwaves. I bought large Irwin drill bits to cut big holes through drywall and cabinetry, and this drill performed fine. This also
saves you a ton of time having to use a screwdriver to assemble something.
FYI: The 20 accessories that come with this drill are drill bits and screwdriver bits. They are of good quality and that alone saves you some $10-$15 bucks from having to buy it separately with another drill.
This is not a hammer drill so you will not be able to drill through concrete or other strong material. Some places of drywall was difficult for me to drill through, but with maximum drill power and forward-force I was able to make it through.
The battery lasts well for me, one thing that is good is to keep charging it in between working, or while you are taking 30mins for a lunch break. It held its charge for over 2 weeks when I had it in storage between uses.
One suggestion is to have some kind of indicator to let you know when it's fully charged. There are no lights whatsoever to tell you it's charging or it's got a charge. But if you do it like me and plug it in the night before working then you're fine.
Again, for $50 bucks shipped you can't beat this drill. If you're looking for the best then go for DeWalt, but if you need something around the house, or maybe helping out a neighbor install whatever, this is an excellent choice. Black & Decker CDC180ASB 18-volt Compact Drill with 20 Accessories
This tool is, for the money, one of the best values around. Don't go to Home Depot and buy a Ryobi 12 volt. This tool has 10 more inch/pounds of torque, 100 more rpm's of speed, and it's actually made by Black and Decker. The Ryobi's are made by Techtronic, which is obviously NOT Ryobi of Japan. Not knocking Ryobi of Japan, of course. Those are DIFFERENT tools altogether. The closest real competitor would be a craftsman, which is more expensive, and barring Craftsman Professional, no more product for the money. Feels solid and backed by a great home use warranty of two years. MUST HAVE !!!
I picked this up for $40 on sale in a local store. It's adequate for most tasks, but no better.
The battery can only be charged when it's plugged into the drill, so you can't alternate between two to keep working. It doesn't have a variable speed setting, so controlling the speed when driving screws is hard. The battery capacity seems small, plus there's no charge level indicator on the device or charger, so you don't know when it's fully recharged. Finally, the RPM is very low compared to equivalents--getting through steel is going to take you a while.
If you can get it on sale for a reasonable price, and don't want to do too many adventurous things with a power drill, consider giving it a look.
This is a very good drill/driver for occasional home use. The driver function is very good, I expected a little more from the drill, which is a little slow considering the power of this machine, and if you are going to use this drill for long periods, you will find it a little bit heavy. But overall, it works great for occasional use. Also, considering it is cordless, makes both for drill and drive, comes with all the accessories you will need for occasional use (drill and drive bits) and it comes with a carrying bag... put all this into account and you have a great value for you money.
I used this drill a few days ago to bore holes for a handsome piece of black locust root that I was mounting as a found sculpture on a mahogany base. It worked well both in drilling the mahogany and the locust, and in driving screws using the excellent fully adjustable torque which is one of the features of this drill.
It comes in a handsome carrying case with a handle and an assortment of drill and screw bits. It was relatively inexpensive. A good buy and a good tool.
JS
Regardless of what specs the drill has, what it doesn't say in the description is that you have to plug the recharging plug directly into the drill handle to charge the battery. Therefore, there is no way to have a second battery charging while you continue to use the drill since there is no separate charging station. Omitting this from the description is not enough to avoid responsibility for the obvious disadvantage of this drill. The package says that the battery is easily removable which implies it can be swapped for a fully charged battery. There are no pictures that show the hole in the back of the handle that the charger has to plug into. A truly stupid system. They should forget about the extras they include and just make a charging station for it like most other 12 volt drills.
It may be 18v, but it has nowhere near the power of my old Black & Decker 18v drill. The a/c adapter is also a fraction of the size, which makes me wonder. Build quality seems on par.
After shopping to replace my old one, I came home with a sears craftsman C3 19.2v ($90) and this B&D 18v model. The difference is like night and day. While at Sears, I also tried the Dewalt 18v drills which even more powerful than the craftsman. You can feel the torque on these yanking the unit in your hand; you cannot feel anything on this B&D.
Obviously, the voltage rating is not a good indicator of performance. Frustratingly, price is turning out to be a better indicator.
I asked for this particular drill (battery powered) for Christmas - and got it :-) I have several Black & Decker items and am pleased with all of them. Jig saw, two electric drills, weed whacker, tiller, small work bench, wall paper steamer (yes, B&D doesn't make them anymore, but I loved my original one that I had for 20 years, which finally gave out after many hours of use not only by me, but also by some of my office colleagues. But I found a "brand-new/old" one, never used, on e-bay.) Some of those tools might not be suitable for a professional handyman, but for a do-it-yourself woman (or some of the more clumsy, helpless do-it-yourself men!), they are wonderful, reliable products. - Drill - Black And Decker - Cordless Tools - Power Tools'

Garmin Nuvi 760 - nuvi 265wt, gps
Spent a weekend reviewing various GPS devices to replace my less than 1 year old Mio C320 (avoid these like the plague) that had its battery die about 4 months after purchase. Went back and forth along the entire line of Garmin devices, and finally settled on this one for the blue tooth and traffic, neither of which I'll probably hardly ever use, but nice to have when I want them.
I was disappointed with the map, the "new" 2009 one, because I have some streets in my neighborhood that have been around for over four years and they're not to be found on this unit. Even the piece of junk cheap Mio had these streets.
But that's about the only downside there is to it, the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars.
Having been used to the MIO, and the horrible refresh rate, it is a pleasant change to see smooth scrolling as my vehicle moves. The ability to change the car icon is nice, especially with the plethora of icons available on the garmin website.
Accuracy is very good as well, and even in turns the unit isn't so laggy that it becomes annoying. And also unlike what I was used to with the MIO, when I come to a stop at the intersection, the map doesn't start rotating randomly on me.
Speaker is about as I expected, won't hear much over a loud stereo but crank it up enough you can at least hear it if you keep the music down a bit.
The option to easily download voices is also appreciated.
It did well with my testing of going point to point, following the instructions, and for the most part you're given the instructions in plenty of time. only once or twice did it not tell me "turn right on such and such" until I was about 20 feet from the street, but that was when I was coming up on stop signs and had slowed down, so it may be compensating for the speed factor.
Recalculation notice is a bit annoying, my MIO would say it once, sometimes this says it three times before it starts to display the alternate route.
Still has about 900MB free on the internal memory for additional voices, icons, maps, and such, and with the SD slot there's plenty of room to grow.
I have a Verizon XV6900 phone with Windows Mobile 6.1, and while the bluetooth paired well and it can see the phone status, battery power, signal, even dialed and missed call lists, it never does get the phonebook. it gets a random entry and that's it - so whenever I turn it on, I have just one user to select from, and it's different each time. Still haven't tracked that one down yet. But every other bluetooth option worked just fine.
I'm not a fan of the very thick double power cable for it though, and it would be doubly annoying (no pun intended) if I were mounting this somewhere higher up on the window to have that double cable dangling down.
I can see how the ads would get annoying sometimes (the free traffic is because it is advertising driven) but you don't get them at all if you turn off the traffic feature, and since most of my driving isn't around times that traffic is a concern, i can just leave it for when I really have a use for it.
Good response to finger input, and while the unit is overall much better quality than the MIO, I really do miss the MIO's ability to have an info pane down the last third of the screen and the map on the first two thirds of it when desired. But there's some of that info available in the data bubbles on the bottom and top so I'll survive.
Overall happy with the unit, it works well and was worth the cost. Garmin nüvi 265W/265WT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
I have owned quite a few GPS units all including Phone, Laptop and Dedicated. Flat out before I even get started the Garmin Nuvi 265WT is the best I have ever owned. Let me just make a couple of comments on the most important features.
Touch Screen Interface
Very intuitive and easy to use. Touch screen is responsive but not instantaneous. What I particularly like is the ability to switch to a top down view by touching the screen. Once done you can use your finger to drag the map around at any zoom point. Once done you can hit the back button and resume your 3D view.
Turn by Turn
You have two options here. You can use one of the Text to Speech voices or one of natural voices. The text to speech voices will give you more information such as street names. This is what I use and even though you can tell it's a computer generated voice its quality is superb. The 265WT does a good job at keeping you updated. Also at any time you can hit the turn Icon and it will speak the distance to the next turn, giving you street name as well as direction. The audio is quite loud and in my noisy little Scion I have no problem hearing the messages.
Maps
I have found the map accuracy quite good. I live in Northern virginal and it seems to be very well updated as many of the very new streets included.
Automatic Routing
Very effective. You can choose between the quickest or the shortest with options to avoid U-Turns, Highways, Toll Roads, Traffic, Ferries. The automatic rerouting is faster than my TeleNav phone and my Laptop computers.
Points of Interest
On my TeleNav phone GPS system I can enter any business in the national database and I can get directions, address and phone number. This is where the 265WT falls short. The TeleNav system has the advantage of searching online. Since the 265WT is limited to onboard memory there is a limit to the number of points of interest. A good example is I was looking for "Off Broadway Shoes" and the unit could not find them. However a search for "Payless Shoes" worked very well.
Traffic Alerts
The lifetime free traffic comes at a price. You will get popup adds. These are very small popups that supposedly only come when you are in the menu. This is not true. I have gotten them while in the navigation screen. For now they it seems to be once per trip but there is nothing to say they wont start getting more frequent. The other thing I don't like about the messages is that you have to hit them to continue and doing so takes you out of the nav screen to a kind of favorites screen. You have to hit the back button to get back to your navigations screen.
How well does the traffic system work. I live in Northern VA and have coverage throughout my area. The included radio fails to pick up a single signal without using an external antenna. Sadly you can just go down and purchase an FM antenna.. The Power cable has a 3/32" jack. What I did was to pick up a 3/32" plug from Radio Shack and soldered a 4' wire to the tip pin on the connector. Once draped out one of the windows I get very frequent traffic updates.
Once you start getting traffic reports I found them to be accurate and they do help. You can automatically avoid high traffic arias or do it manually as they accrue.
I am still debating if the popup adds are worth the effort.
Bluetooth Integration
This is my favorite feature. I can keep my keyboard locked Motorola Q in my pants pocket and use my 265WT to make and receive all my calls at a touch of a button. All my phone features are available on the 265WT. Phonebook, Call history, Voice Recognition. The voice quality is quite acceptable on both ends. As a matter of fact the echo I get on my Motorola is not there when using the 265WT as a hands free set.
Picture Viewer
I found this to be a very useless feature. If the photos are very big it takes forever for the 265WT to load them. This may be due to the slow access to the SD card slot.
There are other features like the ability to connect the 265WT to your PC and automatically add favorite locations using GoogleMaps. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and would purchase it again.
FYI the Nuvi 265WT is the same unit as the Nuvi 255W without the Bluetooth ability and the FM reliever cable (GTM 25). You can even purchase the GTM 25 from Garmin. If you don't want the Bluetooth feature and don't currently need the traffic feature you can pick up the Nuvi 255W cheaper. - Nuvi 265wt - 265wt - Gps - Garmin 265wt'

Portable Dvd Player - pink, kids headphones
We got these for my 5 year old daughter to use with her MP3 player. I was excited at the idea of the volume control since I knew she liked to turn it all the way up. However she only had these about 2 months when they stopped working all together. I thought it was the MP2 player, but it worked with my headphones fine. My daughter is fairly careful, as careful as a 5 year old can be, and really only used these in the car for long trips. I certainly don't believe anything was done beyond normal wear. I was disappointed since I thought I had paid more to get a better quality. We are now using the Philips kids headphones and have been pleased with the quality. Sony Mdr-222Kd/Pin Children's Headphones (Pink)
We needed some chid-size headphones to replace the wireless that came with our Honda. These fit the kid's heads and added bonus having the pink for my daughter. Teamed these with one 3.5MM extension cable to get headphone to the passengers side - both kids love them
We bought these for our five-year-old daughter to use with a portable DVD player on a family road trip. The packaging touts the high impedance of these headphones as a "feature" but it made them too quiet for our daughter to hear most of her movies--even with the DVD player's volume control turned all the way up.
These headphones definitely keep the sound from getting too loud. My kids didn't complain about the sound but I found them too soft. When I put the DVD player without headphones at a comfortable volume and then plugged in the headphones the volume definitely decreased. I suppose this is good for protecting a child's sensitive ears but if an adult plans to use them as well they will probably be disappointed.
We bought these for our 5 yr. old to watch dvds on our laptop while traveling and for use with an ipod. I like the idea that the heads phones would not get too loud. Unfortunately, with all the road noise, she could verily hear the sound. I tried myself and it was very hard to hear. If using in the house, the sound is fine and the smaller size is great. However, if your computer sits on the floor under a desk with the only headphone jack in the back, the 3.5 foot cord isn't quite long enough. We added an extension and it helps. At least she doesn't get tangled up in the cord! She actually prefers earbuds because they don't fall off her head but as a mom, I prefer headphones that don't go directly into her ear.
I bought these for my daughter for Christmas. 2 1/2 months later, the plastic is cracked where the earpieces attach to the head band. I have them taped together. The size is perfect, and she loves the pink color. I would have expected a product made with more durable materials for children, and especially from Sony.
These have worked perfectly for my 9 and 4 year old daughters who are not comfortable wearing little earbuds or big adult headphones for MP3 players or portable DVD players. I especially like the fact that the cord is only attached to one side of the headphones, not both sides, so the cord doesn't go across their necks and I don't have to worry about it choking them. Highly recommended for children.
she really likes that they're pink. She's four. And they fit her head size just fine. I've listened through the headphones and they really do limit the volume. Even when the DVd player is on full volume, the volume does not seem "loud" to me so I'm assuming it's well within the limits for such a young child. My daughter will beg & beg me to get out the headphones at first, but after 5 minutes she prefers to watch the movies w/o headphones. i think it's just an age thing & she likes the volume loud. However, the adjustable sides are slippery & are always moving on her so that the headphones end up too big and she has to fix them to the smallest size over & over. Overall I don't have any complaints & am glad I got them so I can have a few minutes of quiet on long road trips & not have to listen to Shaggy's voice 2 inches from my ears as they watch Scooby Doo over & over again. - Kids Headphones - Childrens Earphones - Pink - Child Headphone'
