School Supplies - five star, school paper
After suffering through years of being chronically disorganized, I purchased this folder with the hope of sorting out my academic life and bringing some order into my sphere. When this folder finally arrived, the world as I knew it changed. I suddenly had access to multiplication tables, conversion tables and so much more! Did you know that 660 feet is 1 furlong? I didn't, at least, not until this folder came into my life.
I went from a depressed student to an academic success story, all thanks to the magic of this folder.
It also does a pretty good job of keeping loose leaf papers in one place. Five Star Folder, 4-Pocket, Black (72093)
I use these to keep my papers and handouts in one place for each class I take. I put a label in the upper right corner and sometimes use different colors. Perfect for organizing and carrying term papers, notes, and class handouts. I'd be a mess without them! Oh, and these prices are nice, too, compared to the Office type stores.
I love these folders, and they are perfect, but when mine arrived, it had some sort of greasy gunk on it... I eventually wiped it off but it got all over my hands, and nearly ruined the product it came with... Just the sellers fault, but without this unknown goo, these folders are great. - Five Star - School Paper - Filler Paper - Letter-sized Zipper Pouch'

I own high end components (like Campy and Zero G) and obviously this isn't high end.
But it's good bang for your buck and a decent upgrade for most sub-700 dollar off the shelf bikes out there.
When my wife's Townie showed up with flimsy no-name brakes that appear to be made from something resembling compressed aluminum shavings... I popped a pair of these on.
Night and day in terms of performance (you can tell the difference in quality just holding them in your hands compared with the no name junk).
Nice! Avid Single Digit 5 Bicycle Linear Pull Brake (Black, Front or Rear)
I was fed up with my cantilever brakes on some old bike I bought. Then I decided that V brakes would be the logical upgrade. Paired with the Avid FR-5 Single Lever, these brakes work great. It was my first time installing brakes by myself, but I learned a lot in the process. These brakes come with so many adjustments. There's pad spacing, spring tension, pad angle, and more adjustments using the pinch bolt on the brake and the barrel adjuster on the brake lever. Before you install these, make sure that the wheel is installed straight into the fork/dropout. You will have to get & cut your own cable/housing, since this does not come with any. All the adjustments are done with an allen wrench (don't know the exact size) or a small phillips screwdriver. This brake comes with two noodles. One makes a 90 degree bend and is for front brakes; the other makes an acute bend and is for rear brakes. The brakes make a squeaking noise towards the end of a stop (when pads touch the rim with force), but that's probably because I didn't toe-in the brake shoes when setting the brakes up. Be careful if adjusting the pad spacing, as it is easy to lose the small washers and the parts may just fall down if you're not careful. If you're looking for an inexpensive brake that just works, get this.
I have a 2004 Trek 4300 and needed to replace the OEM brakes. What a difference these brakes have made. I almost bought another brand that was more expensive but decided to save and buy these. Result: Theses work as well or better than the originals I replaced. No complaints.
I used this linear brake to replace an original linear rear brake that I had been keeping together with safety wire. I like the fact that this brake can be used as a front or rear brake- that simplifies things. These Avid Single Digit 5 brakes had a bit of a gap and did not mount flush to my Dahon's brake bosses so a 9/16 o-ring took up that small bit of space to keep dirt sealed out. These brakes are very good looking and as most linear pull brakes, ridiculously powerful. They are easy to adjust and stay in adjustment. These are great replacement linear pull brakes if you are having any problems with the original spec v- brakes on your bicycle.
By the way, my Dahon has wide MTB fenders and these brakes clear them better than the original brakes that came on the bicycle. These brakes are a great buy and a very worthwhile investment if your bicycle's original v-brakes are giving you problems like needing frequent readjustments.
I bought these brakes after my rear set pretty much quit working (I left my bike out in the rain and they got rusty). I have never installed bike brakes before but I got these on, eventually. It took longer than I was expecting and longer than it should have, but I did it and you'll be able to also.
The brakes themselves are excellent and were a huge improvement over my stock brakes (I have a $200 Schwinn.) I'm going to be buying another set for the front now.
For the price I don't think you can go wrong. - Cycling'

Urban Homesteading
I'm a landscaper, and so come to most gardening books from a design perspective - I look at the photos and read some of the text, but not all. This book is different. While the photos are attractive and appropriate, the text is so packed full of intense tutorials and ways of re-thinking our relationship with, well, everything, that I had to slow down and read carefully to get the most from this book.
While the philosophical sections are non-preachy and inspiring, the meat of the book is in the suggestions and simple how-tos that make all aspects of homesteading seem doable, fun and attractive. You can learn to:
garden vertically
make and plant a seed ball
create your own self-watering container
plant an herbal medicine chest in your garden
grow potatoes in a barrel or trash can
grow mushrooms
make your own cultured butter or cheese
attract pollinators to your garden
make your own natural, safe pesticides
keep rabbits
choose and keep goats
harvest edible weeds
build a solar drying rack
ferment your own sauerkraut and make your own naturally-bubbly sodas
figure out your soil type
build a composting toilet
harvest rainwater
This book is clearly destined to stay in my shelf for a long, long time. While none of the articles will make you an expert on the topic, after trying a few of these projects, you'll realize you don't need to become an expert in order to live lightly on the land, make your own healthy foods and simple medicines for basic ailments, and become more independent and self-reliant. Each of the how-tos is simple enough to get you started successfully on a new path and give you confidence to do things in a new way.
If you want to buy just one book on how to live lightly on the land even with limited money or space, this is the book to start with. I was blown away by how thorough it is. And while my political beliefs may be different from that of the authors, I didn't find their philosophies overbearing or preachy. Their genuine desire to see us all become confident, productive people able to take care of our own needs is evident, and makes their writing attractive for people from any background. Urban Homesteading: Heirloom Skills for Sustainable Living
I only bought this book as a protest against the Dervais family's copyright of the phrase Urban Homesteading (I also bought another wonderful book here - The Urban Homestead. Anyway, as I began to read this book, I was really sucked in by the wonderful photos and ideas about things I can do here on my own homestead. I highly recommend this book. Lots of great info and ideas. I have never been so invigorated and excited.
The only negative I would give this book is not really a negative at all. With so much information, and so many ideas, it's hard to know "where do I start", but that's what I have ThoughtOffice for, right?
I was inspired by the section which teaches us how to transform our ornamental or boring yards into food production area - starting with bringing life to the soil.
Just this week I made the ricotta cheese with organic whole milk. Best. Ricotta. Ever. Absolutely MADE the lasagna (although it was an amazing recipe - (Google: "World's Best Lasagna"). I am looking forward to making the cultured butter (I now make regular, non-cultured butter from organic whole cream, which is delicious). The nice thing about cultured butter is that the buttermilk, which is a byproduct, can be used to culture cheese, make buttermilk pancakes, bread, dressing ect. Non-cultured buttermilk cannot.
I have the 2 specialty ingredients for feta cheese on order and cannot wait to stop paying for store bought, bland feta. Our household goes through a lot of feta - this is going to be a very good thing. Tomorrow I make mozzarella cheese (not in the book, but it's easy to find directions online, and it uses much of the same things you use to make the dairy recipes in the book).
I have been rereading the section on bee-keeping, raising rabbits, preserving and storing food, and many others which I won't bore you with. Bottom line - get this book. You'll be happy you did.
This is a great book. It is simply, a great book. It's also a great book if you need motivation or information on moving toward self and community sustainability. Or if you need to see that people are actually doing the sustainability things you only hear about. I already make much of my own food, have a CSA farm share, milk from a cow share, I ferment my own veggies, grow a garden, etc. I really didn't think this book would teach much. After all, I'm already ahead of the curve when it comes to sustainability...(or so I thought).
Well, I was wrong. Thankfully and delightedly wrong!! Not only did I learn about things I had no idea about before (composting toilets? rainwater systems? companion planting?) but she gives diagrams and instructions on how to actually go about it. I was SO excited to start new projects and keep going on my current ones. Keep moving towards one-ness with self, community and environment. Keep learning more and more about how to grow things in my area. Keep talking to others in my community to improve relations. Keep bees!
As the industrial food system keeps plugging away, creating more and more disease and pollution and public outcry, we can STILL MAKE A STAND by bucking the system and doing it ourselves. Who says you have to purchase food at a huge chain grocery store? Who says you can't see how your meat becomes meat? Who says you have to stay ignorant about food safety and storage? Who says you can't feed yourself??? It's down right un-American to assume we have to have others do it for us! We are smarter than that!!!
And this book gently, beautifully and lovingly explains it all. The pictures alone are worth the price of admission.
I'm (im)patiently waiting for the second book to come out....'

I had a dual cartridge system which failed, so it was replaced with this one. I should have went bigger. Cleaning cartridges are a pain in the rear. My advise is to size up from whatever it calls for to lessen frequency of cleaning. This unit is well made and does exactly what it was designed to do. Panasonic Dect Cordless Phone
My previous DECT 6 phone broke recently and I picked this one because I don't need answering machine.
This is 2010 model from Panasonic without the answering machine. If you are looking for answering machine, explore KX-TG4031B which is similar to this one with answering machine.
Cons:
- It takes 3 to 4 seconds to open the phone book, i just have 15 contacts stored (half star rating less for this).
- No Talking Caller ID on this model as advertised in the item description (half star rating less for this).
- Can save only 50 numbers in the phone book.
- Speaker phone exists only in the handset not in the base. I think this is same for most basic phones in the market.
Pros:
- Can conference 2 outgoing calls like we do in cell phone.
- Great call quality both using handset and speaker phone, but i have not noticed the call quality difference between DECT 6 and DECT 6 PLUS technology.
- Excellent range and changes to ECO mode when the handset is closer to the base during the call to increase talk time.
- Great battery life. After the full battery charge, I used this phone continuously for 2 hours and I still see 2 bars out of 3 in the battery indicator.
- Light weight handset. The handset uses 2 rechargeable AAA batteries which is easy to get.
- Large buttons in the number pad. The screen is clear and you can see the caller ids clearly.
- I am using one handset but this system can be Expandable up to 6 handsets. Panasonic KX-TG6511B DECT 6.0 PLUS Expandable Digital Cordless Phone
I got this for myself and have used it for about 3 months. I like it. The batteries last forever and the are easy to replace if they ever deplete. My old phone had a NiMh battery and it had problems from the first month. This phone is not the best ever, but for the price it a good phone. I would get another one and recommend it to you. There IS a model with a voice mail built in, but I don't even like phones and didn't want voice mail. It great for someone like me.
There are lots of customizations available but you will need to look at the manual. The ringer can be changed to many different tones and melodies and sounds. I like that. It can also be turned off and I like that even more. If you memorize 2-3 of the most used funtions it will be fine.
It holds many preset "quick dial" numbers. They are aesy to store and use.
I give it a 5/5 because it's what I expected and good quality.
Bought this product almost a month ago.
Pros:
1) Easy to use. Date/Time all are pre-configured!
2) Easy to setup (I got it all started in less than 5mins). Comes with batteries but need to be charged before any long usage duration.
3) Intuitive functions
4) GREAT speaker phone!!! (I was surprised to see this!)
5) Easy to read display, with black digital font on a whitish background.
6) Pretty good battery life. It goes for hours before you need to recharge.
7) A device locator could come handy at times.
8) Range is fairly decent but haven't really tested its max.
9) No sign of damage after a couple of drops. Pretty sturdy!
Cons:
1) Not a very comfortable set to be squeezed between your head and shoulder. Use a hands-free for extended usage.
I would highly recommend it.
this phone works great, also purchased additional headset. the combination allows my wife and I to continue working in the yard, garden, shop (hands free with the headset) at distance's over 500' to the base unit in the house. Large, easy to read display. clear reception, no complaints.
I generally despise cordless phones. They still sound way better than conversation-destroying cell phones, (especially the benchmark-for-awful AT&T / iPhone combo) but they are usually lousy compared to wired phones when it comes to audio quality. But sometimes I need to be mobile and the cordless phone / headset combo is a viable solution. This Panasonic is surprisingly good. There is little extra noise in the audio and the range is big even in my apartment building with its endless array of competing WIFI and other wireless signals. Another plus, the phone has relatively nice ring tones instead of some of the all-cheesiness-and-scary-clowns ring tones so prominent on other phones. Anyway I'll crawl back into my telephonic cave now - but this phone is really pretty good. There you have it.
I bought this as a stand-alone rather than as an addition to a base unit. It has performed very well this way.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they redesigned the interface so that deleting individual received calls from the call list - which I do a lot of - requires two soft-button actions plus an "up" action on the scroll button for each delete rather than simply dedicating one of the hard buttons to Clear (delete) the highlighted call, which is the way it's done on my older Panasonics.
Let me begin by saying this is a good phone. Yes, it has most features I'm looking for in a phone: Caller ID, speaker phone with good volume, good battery life, clear reception, headset input. My problem is with these companies. Why leave out a message indicator? I don't know about you, but if I don't see the indicator light blinking I could stay away from my phone for days. Now I'm going to have to check my phone daily. I know, call the waambulance! But, how hard is it for Panasonic to add an LED to the base?
They got us right where they want us. Hey, I can't manufacture a phone. Can you?
A handy phone that even my old eyes and fingers can easily navigate. The quick and easy volume control is another plus for me. Setup was easy if you bother to read the directions. I am very satisfied with this phone- works well out in the garage and out back as well.'

Marine Splash Guard
When I received this item, it was bright white. It looked silver or grayish to me on the picture. I emailed the company to ask them for a RMA number because my dash is black and it stuck out like a sore thumb. The product itself is fine, but the company sucks. They refused to give a RMA number and said their return policy stated that if the package was open, they would not give a refund. I never opend the package. I could've returned it just exactly as I received it. Filed a complaint with Amazon and they were no help at all. I've spent a ton of money with Amazon, but this is the very last thing I will ever order here again. Done. Dual SG1 Universal Splash Guard Marine Head Unit Cover
OK, this product has some good attributes which some other reviewers have not covered or vaguely mentioned. First, the self-lifting faceplate. Yes, it lifts up on it's own. Which means it has a pressure center latch/button you must push to open the face; a very nice feature. This unit's faceplate tint is a light champagne hue which allows you to easily see the display on your stereo in full daylight. If you have a stereo that uses a fluorescent display, then you were probably like me with my old splash-guard that had a very "sunglasses" dark tinting requiring you to open it up each time to view your display; a slight nuisance, but a nuisance nonetheless. Why your stereo needs sunshades is beyond me, since you should have a marine rated player which means it has all the UV protection elements a well designed marine player should have. Sure it comes without instructions, but so does a pair of jeans, and you know how to put those on correctly...right? It does come with a stick-on foam "seal." That seal is way to thin to compensate for any large differences in the fascia mount. It is good for a template, but not much else. I used a much thicker EPDM rubber weatherstrip that can be easily found at any hardware supply. Even with that, I added a bead of 100% Marine Silicone to add safety redundancy.
Much better than what came with my marine stereo! Yeah directions and a template would have been helpful but the product performance is worth it. Best splash guard I've seen. Note: if your stereo isnt perfectly aligned, the cover could stick at the top. Just get it right and the cover is perfect. I'd buy another. The window going up almost looks automated.. but please include a template on the box or something. (Trick) use the foam seal backing that you peel off for your template..That worked for me.
This splash guard was well packaged and in excellent conditions.
It has a slick look that will make your boat look sick (In a good way) It fits most radios, personally i was planing to install a car radio and it did fit, but my recently purchased boat was a POS and I returned it and kept the cover, oh well it is still an awesome buy.
My prior one was deteriorating and a bit broken. This was very easy to install and worked flawlessly. Note that there are NO instructions- that's ok I guess. The side clips that cover the skrew holes are strangely designed. You can only get to them from an unistalled unit to take them off. The snap into place and I'm guessing there is NO way to remove them without breaking them- unless of course you had the unit off the boat which is impossible if you haven't had access to the screws!'

Best Camera For Kids - kids camera, childrens camera
I am writing mostly to defend this fun toy from some of the reviews. Get real people--do you really expect a preschooler to take poster quality photographs with any camera? So the resolution isn't perfect. There's no flash, so what do you expect of indoor shots? We got this camera for Christmas for my 5-year-old, and she loves it beyond what we could have predicted. And she's so tickled that its real that she has never commented once about the quality of the pictures. And for her age, half the fun is transferring the photos to the computer and playing around with the photo editing software, where you can add stamps, words, frames, drawings, etc. I bought it from another store for $38.99, and think its a wonderful toy for the money. And I emphasize TOY, not precision photographic instrument. If you're not snooty about the pics, your child won't be either. Enjoy it and stop complaining! Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera (Pink)
My daughter was given this camera as a Christmas gift this past Christmas. She was two at the time. She did love it at first although she mainly took pictures of the floor, ceiling, or people's crotches. Unfortunately it did not last as long as it says it does. It died about 4 months later. You could turn it on, but then it would get stuck in that mode. Then to turn it off you had to take the batteries out. The picture quality of this camera was definitely subpar. It's very grainy.
I don't know if it was just this particular camera, or if my daughter threw it just right, but for us it ended up being a poor product.
Bought the blue version for my son. It took horrible photos, you can barely make out the subject due to pixelation. If the users hand moves even slightly when taking the photo, the image is a total blur (not sure what genius engineer at Fisher Price didn't troubleshoot this aspect when designing this camera for use by small children). My kids used it once and hated it. Never used since. It seems like fun but I'm sure there are better alternatives out there. Don't waste your money and disappoint your children with this rubbish.
The camera is very slow, at least 1-2 seconds from pressing button to picture capture... Picture quality poor... Postage stamp size viewer... My granddaughter uses the camera to pretend, taking pictures.
We received this as a gift for our daughter for her 3rd Christmas. She uses it all the time & a year later it still works like new after very regular use. Yes, the pictures are not super clear but I know our 3 year old does not mind in the least. She just loves the instant view of the picture after she has taken it. We upload the pictures for her to view on our computer or tv once in a while but it hold over 200 pics. The battery life is great & it is ultra durable. All of her little friends LOVE to play with it when they come over to play. We highly recommend this for your little preschooler.
This thing is horrible. I bought one for each of my two children for Christmas two years ago. The batteries run out after 1 day, and that is with maybe 25 minutes of use! I have spent a fortune on batteries!!! The quality of the pictures are horrible. You can barely tell what it is. Save your money!
purchased this camera for my niece's birthday. package arrived on time, but camera does not work. I tried different bateries and everything. I never have a problem when ordering from amazon so i requested a replacement which should be here tomorrow. Hopefully this one works. I felt so bad because my niece was so excited to see how it worked and now she has to wait.
Purchased this camera for my 3 year old daughter who loves to get my digital camera and take pictures....She took over 100 pictures the first day and she has dropped it at least 10 times and it is still working great! I love to see her using her imagination as she is setting up scenes to takes pictures of...she even took a picture of her brother's christmas breakfast plate!!!
I bought this for my five-year-old last Christmas and it was a huge letdown. For starters, the camera itself came with a virus on-board, so had I not been a tech-savvy person, it could have really wreaked havoc on my computer. Secondly, the picture quality is seriously awful. You can scarcely make out what the photos are because they're so grainy and distorted. Kid-tough? Yeah, but that's it's only redeeming quality. Save your money, parents! Wait 'til the kiddos are a little older and get them a better quality camera. - Toy Camera - Best Camera For Kids - Childrens Camera - Kids Camera'

Mytouch 4g Screen Protector - mytouch 4g, htc
I bought this type of cover guard film for my phone, thinking that I would receive the item exactly as shown in the first 2 photos describing this product: completely covering the phone screen with some cutting at the top. I received instead rectangular films that partially covers my phone screen (like in the last 3 photos if you look very closely; I didn't). Yes, they sent you multiple screen films but 1 film didn't work from the get go (not staying fixed to the screen). To add insult, one of the paper tabs that was supposed to be removed cleanly from the screen doesn't remove at all: It was stuck to the film corner; I had to use my finger tip and a damp q-tip to try to scratch the sticky tab off. But the glue residue is still there and visible. I am not pleased with this product at all. It's just not worth my time and money to send it back. Maybe that's why the seller has gotten away with sending customers this substandard type of films. 5x HTC T-Mobile myTouch 4G HD Premium Clear LCD Screen Protector Cover Guard Film, no cutting is required! Exact fit and satisfaction guaranteed!
The item received was not as advertised, as the protector was just a plain square protector covering just the screen and not the exact cut as shown in the image and advertised. However, the protector installs very easily and without any bubble formation, but if you want the exact cut, this is not it.
These are by far the best screen protectors. Hard to place exactly right; but once on, it's completely transparent and I can't even tell I have a protector on the screen. My trick to a perfect application was to use an anti-static lens cleaning wipe on the screen (the moist type used for glasses), then place the protector on the screen. I did have one little fuzz underneath it the first time, so I carefully lifted the protector in that one area (with a flat mini screw driver), and used a piece of scotch tape to get the fuzz. Voila! A fuzzless, bubble free application. These are stiff - similar to a sheet protector, not soft like a decorative window decal.
I got prompt shipment. There are 5 protectors, 3 step instructions, and a cloth included. The application process was very easy, compared to another protector I applied a few weeks ago that required soap water, that was kinda scary, and not easy.
Now, with these protectors, you just peel off one side, apply to the phone, and then peel off the remaining side and you're left with just the protector attached to the phone screen. The cut out is very precise, and fit the mt4g very well. There will be a millimeter gap to the edge of the screen, but that's a good thing, since if you get too close to any edge the protector doesn't want to stick very well (there's probably a curve there or something).I was most impressed with the bubble free installation. There were practically no bubbles, and I didn't really have to do anything special. I also had to reapply it because I didn't aim precisely the first time, and peeling off and reapplying was very easy. Just stick the plastic tab you peeled off under the protector and lift it up.
I don't know how long the protector will last, but so far I am very pleased. Good price, too.
UPDATE 2/9/2011
---------------
I have 2 phones using them, and they're still as good as new. I purchased from Benson Huang, in case that makes a difference. I noticed bad reviews from a few people, and I'm wondering if them bought from a different seller.
This screen is an "exact fit" just because it is a rectangle that fits the screen, but is not shaped at all to countour the screen of the myTouch 4G. Picture is deceiving as they make it seem like it does but, really, it is is just a rectangle smaller than the screen top and bottom, so a big chunk stays out. I would return it if it were not for the fact that it was so cheap that it is not even worth complaining.
This screen protector is crystal clear, slightly stiff and perfectly shaped for the my4g. Its contours go around the earpeice speaker and the front facing camera. The straight sides reach well over the visible portion of the screen to nearly the very edge of the glass front. I can barely see the screen protector now that it's on the phone, only a little around the front facing camera and along the bottom edge. At first, there were a few bubbles but using a peice of transparent tape, I carefully lifted the screen protector partly off the phone and reapplied while rubbing it down with the supplied (cheap but adequate) micro fiber clothe to remove all the bubbles.
After using my nude phone for a few weeks, I found my finger often getting stuck while trying to glide it across the screen. Now with this screen protector, my finger glides across the screen much more easily and rarely sticks. Also, I haven't noticed any decreased sensitivity of the screen.
I strongly recommend this inexpensive screen protector.
Sidenote:
The over-priced two-pack screen protector that I first bought from T-Mobile, was a simple rectangle which barely covered the screen area, had bubbles that I couldn't eliminate and seemed to desensitize the touch screen.
They plain just don't stick to the face of your phone. I had to try 3 of them to get one lined up *just right*, and within a day, it's already peeling off from the bottom (like the other two did immediately). Not worth $3 or .03$.
Would have been good if the adhesive tab adhered to the shield for separation actually removed cleanly after it was placed on the screen. I ruined 2 shields trying to clean off the adhesive that held the handy strip on. They may want to use a plastic tab instead of paper in the future. I wish it had worked better and cleaner.
These are decent screen protectors. They have cutouts for the mytouch 4g camera, and ear piece. They look like they are just rectangular until you remove them from the packaging. The actual screen protector is sandwiched between two other protective sheets, and these 'sandwich' sheets have tabs on them for easy removal. This means you can position the screen protector without getting finger prints all over it.
The sensitivity of the touch on the phone seems as good as it was before.
And, you get 5 of them if you screw up... - Tmobile - Htc - Mytouch 4g - Mytouch 4g Screen Protector'
