Handheld Cordless Vacuum - handheld cordless vacuum, hand vacuum

I love, love this hand vac! It has good suction, it's easy to use, and best of all the brush and crevice tools are permently attached so there's no wondering where the toddler put the crevice tool that he was using as a sword the last time you saw it. I used it to vacuum out my mini van and it did a super job. Highly recommend! Black & Decker CHV1510 Dustbuster 15.6-Volt Cordless Cyclonic Hand Vac

We are very hard on our cordless hand vacs--they get carted all around our house by our energetic boys, and used to pick up everything from dirt to insects to sweepings from the floor. I'm impressed by the power of this vacuum, and have been pleased with how easy it is to keep clean. It comes apart into 3 pieces pretty easily--a nozzle area, the main cannister area, and the motorized portion. This makes it a snap to get things clean and to empty into the trash. I like the fact that the brush portion is attached to the front nozzle, so I don't have to look for it when my kids cart the vacuum away. It folds out and snaps into place, very handily and easily. The machine is not too light and not too heavy. The charging mechanism plugs into the handle, and there is a simple light to tell you it is charging. On the whole, I prefer this over a charger into which the machine slides, like a couple of my older vac's have. I'm considering purchasing a second one of these excellent machines.

An excessive compulsive clean-freak woman had to have had her hand in designing this vac. On a scale of 1-10 it's an 11! Thank you Black and Decker for coming out with the 1st cordless hand vac with the power of a corded one. It is so darn handy yet gets the job done. Need I say more? Yes, I do. The fact that all I have to do to get into my deep crevices or to use the brush is pull out the tools (instead of hunt for them in my closet) right on the nozzle is absolutely ingenious! Oh and that vented, hard plastic sleeve that goes over the washable filter - well, it's just clever. No more crud sticking to the filter to clog things up. t just slides right off!!!! You people at Black and Decker that designed this one deserve a huge raise! Finally, a GREAT hand vac! I love, love, love it! It's perfect. You thought of EVERYTHING. Well, almost everything. Now if you could just put it on automatic pilot to seek out the dust and crud ... Oh, well, you can't have everything. You get the idea.

I picked this up locally at Target because I wanted to be able to return it just in case it sucked at sucking.

After having this for a month now, for about $50, you really can't go wrong with this. We brought our newborn home a month ago and I wanted to have something around to be able to pick up the cat+dog fur tumbleweeds around the house and generally keep it a bit cleaner. Our full size vacuum weighs some 15+lbs and it's just too heavy and cumbersome to bust out for daily quick cleanups.

PROS:

+ Lightweight and easy to handle; well balanced

+ Powerful suction - the Dyson handhelds must be off the charts because this is already pretty strong as it is

+ Power toggle stays on

+ On-board attachments

+ Holds its charge very well - perfect for cleaning around the house and on the stairs - haven't had it lose charge on me mid-cleanup yet and it holds its charge for 2-3 passes for me. Charge time really isn't an issue since I don't plan on using it for extended periods of time in the first place.

CONS:

- Fur can be difficult to remove from the dustbin - it doesn't just come right out. I need to stick my fingers up there; yuck

- The built-in extension wand doesn't stay up with aggressive use. B&D could have easily solved this with a simple latch mechanism for a few cents more.

- Can't take other attachments, which wouldn't really be a problem except...

- Extension wand is too short. I'm average height and I need to bend down to use it. It wouldn't be so bad if it could accept attachments that would extend it to allow usage from a standing position but as it is, you'll probably spend a lot of time hunched over

It should be noted that we have hardwood throughout so the full sized vacuum rarely gets used now except for the area rugs. Overall, the house is slightly cleaner now simply due to more frequent vacuuming of the dog and cat fur rolling around the ground. A great value at about $50 and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it or recommend it. That said, there are definitely a few small fixes that the B&D engineers could add to make this a 5 star product.

==============================

UPDATE: Now that the price has dropped well below $50, I think this is a CAN'T MISS product. Seriously, it's one powerful handheld vacuum for not a whole lot of money; you literally CAN NOT go wrong with this purchase (unless you're old or have lower back problems I guess...). I've also figured out that it's a LOT easier to empty the bin by removing the motor part (you can unmount the motor or the wand; if you unmount the motor part and remove the filter, everything just slides right out of the collection bin). Giant, massive balls of cat and dog fur mostly just slides right out.

If you're worried about the charge time or the smallish collection bin, at this price? Buy two and you're good to go and you're still saving WAAAAY more than buying a Dyson!

Whatever shortcomings it has, they can be forgiven at this price point for the sheer convenience of having such a powerful little vacuum around. I've used it for several months and I can't imagine how we went so long lugging around the gigantic full-sized vacuum for daily cleanups!

I purchased this to replace a former Black and Decker cordless vacuum. I read the reviews extensively, and bought this model based on mostly positive reviews. However, my experience was quite different. The vacuum has a pull out crevice tool which is one of the reasons I purchased it. Unfortunately, Black and Decker has not thought out the design of this crevice tool, wherein it would actually remain extended when vacuuming small areas, such as you find in automobiles. Each time the tool retracted, making those tight spots unreachable. If Black and Decker can revise this crevice tool so that it locks in place, then it would be worth the price which is being charged. - Hand Vacuum - Black And Decker - Handheld Cordless Vacuum - Dustbuster'

Ipod Touch 4g Leather Case

There was no feedback about this item when I bought it, so I was taking a risk, but it had the features I wanted and was cheap enough even with shipping to give it a try. So far, I am enjoying it very much. It fits my ipod touch perfectly and it also has a hole for the camera. My last case didn't have a hole for the camera and I was constantly having to pull it out of the case to take photos or videos. It also keeps the ipod snugly in the case because the ipod clicks in to the plastic shell that is glued to the leather. If this glue comes loose, which it looks like it might, I will just superglue it back together. ProTek® Black Leather Folio Flip Case Cover for Apple iPod Touch 4th Gen Generation 4G 8GB 32GB 64GB

I have had this little cover for my new gen 4 ipod for a few weeks..and now no worries about taking it everywhere with me. This little cover is very protective. Nice quality and so affordable. Great value!

The case was received promptly, and is impressive for the price. Unfortunately I do have some criticisms: The leather portion of the case appears to made for a thicker device - You could basically layer two iPod Touch 4th gens inside of it. I like the fact that it opens downward and does not obscure the camera. The volume buttons are very hard to get too however, and the hole for the earphones will only work with the tiny Apple earphones (That I think suck). The magnet catch works well.

My quest for a leather folio case continues..

This product is exactly as advertised. It is an excellent general purpose case that protects my IPOD, It's easy to open, stays closed, IPOD snaps into a shaped plastic body providing great stability and protection, and it looks good. Only very minor drawback is you can't plug in the charging cable if the earphones are attached because of the way the case opens but its simple to just pull out the earphone plug when charging. Great deal!

When I first got this, I wasn't sure I wanted it. The leather had a heavy metallic smell to it. Well, I washed it off and got rid of whatever it was. I'm not sure it's real leather but it probably is. It seems to be well made and my iPod Touch 4G went in and fit snugly. You can take pictures, charge it and anything else while it's in the case. It provides lots of protection and is nice to carry. It's a handsome case for a man or a woman and you'll be proud to carry it anywhere. And, of course as you know, the price is remarkable. Highly recommended.-- Susanna K. Hutcheson

I purchased this case based on reviews, and I'm really happy I did. My Ipod touch (4th Gen) fits into this case perfectly. It is very sharp looking and has a plastic shell that the Ipod snaps into. Also, there are holes for the camera and earbud port that are aligned just right. There is a magnet that holds the closure tab in place. You won't regret buying this case. Great price and great service. ;o}

This black leather flip case is exactly what I was looking for to protect my new Ipod Touch! I am 100% pleased with it. I've had it for about a month and it is still in the shape that it arrived in brand new. I can throw it in my purse and not worry that the Ipod face will get scratched or accidentally turned on. I like the way it flips open because when I use Facetime with my granddaughter I can just hold it up by the open flap or prop it open on the table or counter. The inside of the flap that lays against the screen is some sort of felt material.

The Ipod clicks into the case and stays there. I haven't had any problems with it falling out. The clasp is slightly magnetic and that's what keeps it closed. There is easy access to the charging connection too. The only thing that might be bothersome to some people with bigger fingers is that the on/off switch is a little tucked in to the case, due to the curvature of the Ipod itself, at the spot where the front flap bends. It isn't a problem and I only mention it for full disclosure in case someone is really nit picky and that's a deal breaker for them. For the price of this cover I really don't feel like you could go wrong.'

Garmin Nuvi 265wt Refurbished - gps, garmin nuvi 265wt refurbished

Spent a weekend reviewing various GPS devices to replace my less than 1 year old Mio C320 (avoid these like the plague) that had its battery die about 4 months after purchase. Went back and forth along the entire line of Garmin devices, and finally settled on this one for the blue tooth and traffic, neither of which I'll probably hardly ever use, but nice to have when I want them.

I was disappointed with the map, the "new" 2009 one, because I have some streets in my neighborhood that have been around for over four years and they're not to be found on this unit. Even the piece of junk cheap Mio had these streets.

But that's about the only downside there is to it, the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars.

Having been used to the MIO, and the horrible refresh rate, it is a pleasant change to see smooth scrolling as my vehicle moves. The ability to change the car icon is nice, especially with the plethora of icons available on the garmin website.

Accuracy is very good as well, and even in turns the unit isn't so laggy that it becomes annoying. And also unlike what I was used to with the MIO, when I come to a stop at the intersection, the map doesn't start rotating randomly on me.

Speaker is about as I expected, won't hear much over a loud stereo but crank it up enough you can at least hear it if you keep the music down a bit.

The option to easily download voices is also appreciated.

It did well with my testing of going point to point, following the instructions, and for the most part you're given the instructions in plenty of time. only once or twice did it not tell me "turn right on such and such" until I was about 20 feet from the street, but that was when I was coming up on stop signs and had slowed down, so it may be compensating for the speed factor.

Recalculation notice is a bit annoying, my MIO would say it once, sometimes this says it three times before it starts to display the alternate route.

Still has about 900MB free on the internal memory for additional voices, icons, maps, and such, and with the SD slot there's plenty of room to grow.

I have a Verizon XV6900 phone with Windows Mobile 6.1, and while the bluetooth paired well and it can see the phone status, battery power, signal, even dialed and missed call lists, it never does get the phonebook. it gets a random entry and that's it - so whenever I turn it on, I have just one user to select from, and it's different each time. Still haven't tracked that one down yet. But every other bluetooth option worked just fine.

I'm not a fan of the very thick double power cable for it though, and it would be doubly annoying (no pun intended) if I were mounting this somewhere higher up on the window to have that double cable dangling down.

I can see how the ads would get annoying sometimes (the free traffic is because it is advertising driven) but you don't get them at all if you turn off the traffic feature, and since most of my driving isn't around times that traffic is a concern, i can just leave it for when I really have a use for it.

Good response to finger input, and while the unit is overall much better quality than the MIO, I really do miss the MIO's ability to have an info pane down the last third of the screen and the map on the first two thirds of it when desired. But there's some of that info available in the data bubbles on the bottom and top so I'll survive.

Overall happy with the unit, it works well and was worth the cost. Garmin nĂ¼vi 265W/265WT 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Integrated Traffic Receiver (Factory Refurbished)

I have owned quite a few GPS units all including Phone, Laptop and Dedicated. Flat out before I even get started the Garmin Nuvi 265WT is the best I have ever owned. Let me just make a couple of comments on the most important features.

Touch Screen Interface

Very intuitive and easy to use. Touch screen is responsive but not instantaneous. What I particularly like is the ability to switch to a top down view by touching the screen. Once done you can use your finger to drag the map around at any zoom point. Once done you can hit the back button and resume your 3D view.

Turn by Turn

You have two options here. You can use one of the Text to Speech voices or one of natural voices. The text to speech voices will give you more information such as street names. This is what I use and even though you can tell it's a computer generated voice its quality is superb. The 265WT does a good job at keeping you updated. Also at any time you can hit the turn Icon and it will speak the distance to the next turn, giving you street name as well as direction. The audio is quite loud and in my noisy little Scion I have no problem hearing the messages.

Maps

I have found the map accuracy quite good. I live in Northern virginal and it seems to be very well updated as many of the very new streets included.

Automatic Routing

Very effective. You can choose between the quickest or the shortest with options to avoid U-Turns, Highways, Toll Roads, Traffic, Ferries. The automatic rerouting is faster than my TeleNav phone and my Laptop computers.

Points of Interest

On my TeleNav phone GPS system I can enter any business in the national database and I can get directions, address and phone number. This is where the 265WT falls short. The TeleNav system has the advantage of searching online. Since the 265WT is limited to onboard memory there is a limit to the number of points of interest. A good example is I was looking for "Off Broadway Shoes" and the unit could not find them. However a search for "Payless Shoes" worked very well.

Traffic Alerts

The lifetime free traffic comes at a price. You will get popup adds. These are very small popups that supposedly only come when you are in the menu. This is not true. I have gotten them while in the navigation screen. For now they it seems to be once per trip but there is nothing to say they wont start getting more frequent. The other thing I don't like about the messages is that you have to hit them to continue and doing so takes you out of the nav screen to a kind of favorites screen. You have to hit the back button to get back to your navigations screen.

How well does the traffic system work. I live in Northern VA and have coverage throughout my area. The included radio fails to pick up a single signal without using an external antenna. Sadly you can just go down and purchase an FM antenna.. The Power cable has a 3/32" jack. What I did was to pick up a 3/32" plug from Radio Shack and soldered a 4' wire to the tip pin on the connector. Once draped out one of the windows I get very frequent traffic updates.

Once you start getting traffic reports I found them to be accurate and they do help. You can automatically avoid high traffic arias or do it manually as they accrue.

I am still debating if the popup adds are worth the effort.

Bluetooth Integration

This is my favorite feature. I can keep my keyboard locked Motorola Q in my pants pocket and use my 265WT to make and receive all my calls at a touch of a button. All my phone features are available on the 265WT. Phonebook, Call history, Voice Recognition. The voice quality is quite acceptable on both ends. As a matter of fact the echo I get on my Motorola is not there when using the 265WT as a hands free set.

Picture Viewer

I found this to be a very useless feature. If the photos are very big it takes forever for the 265WT to load them. This may be due to the slow access to the SD card slot.

There are other features like the ability to connect the 265WT to your PC and automatically add favorite locations using GoogleMaps. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and would purchase it again.

FYI the Nuvi 265WT is the same unit as the Nuvi 255W without the Bluetooth ability and the FM reliever cable (GTM 25). You can even purchase the GTM 25 from Garmin. If you don't want the Bluetooth feature and don't currently need the traffic feature you can pick up the Nuvi 255W cheaper. - Gps - Garmin Nuvi 265wt Refurbished - 265wt - Garmin 265wt'

Screwdriver Bits - screwdriver bits, torx

I almost bought this (again) for the Tri-wing bit. Then I realized I already owned it. When I tried to use it, the bits were too big. None of the tri-wing bits are small enough to use on the small screws in Nintendo, cellphones, etc.

For other uses, it has been a handy bit-set. 33 pc. Security Bit Set

I bought this set mostly for the tri-wing bits so I could use it with my Nintendo gear, but the tri-wing bits are tapered instead of flat, and so don't fit into Nintendo screws. I'm sure I'll find a use for the bits eventually...

I bought this to open a PS3 which has the security Torx screw. None of these fit. Based on my visual inspection, the quality of the bits are not very precise, so the sharp edges of the torx screw did not work with the dull edges of these bits. Also, the security hole didn't seem deep enough. Disgusted, I just broke out the drill and drilled out the one screw that holds the PS3 cover (out of warranty anyway, so I didn't care)

Useless to me, but the carrying case is kinda nice. Maybe it'll be useful opening some other kind of box for me some day, but for now, it'll just sit in the drawer. At least it was cheap.

These particular bits strip easy and you should expect to only get a couple of uses out of each. The bits rusted in less than a week. Also to be noted is that the bits are deformed, leaving some of the bits completely nonfunctional. I would spend the extra money and get a better made set.

I just received the product in the mail, and for the very first use, the bit collapses on itself. this is because many of the bits are hollowed out and are made with shoddy materials. warning to everyone. the price is good, but you'll end up wasting it when you have to buy new bits like me.

It's usable. For what you pay, it's reasonable, but not for often usage. The safety holes at the tip of the bits are not quite centered. Yes, I was surprised to have such imprecision in these days. Low quality metal too. However, for hobbyists like me who will use it once in a while, it's good enough, I guess. I am going to oil them before putting them away. Shipping was fast. Over all, it's REASONABLE. Happy shopping :p ....

Good Idea Poor execution

I make knives from scratch and from kits. I got this bit set because the knife kits use Torx and the spanner style screws. The kit does not have a small enough Torx, and the torx that I used stripped out and crumbled when I used it on the pivot stud screw. This is not a high torque screw. The spanner bit also broke. The larger bits seem to hold up better BUT for the work I am doing it was a waste. Maybe I got a poor set and it was a fluke, but I was definitely not happy with the quality. The package is nice if only the quality matched.

I bought this set because I thought it was a good value. I only needed the Torx T15 security bit to take apart my PS3. Well, the quality is so bad that the bit will not work. Buy a better set or a good quality since bit driver.

Pashmina Wrap - pashmina wrap, wraps

From the picture I wasn't quite sure of the colors, but I wanted something green,so I purchased this pashmina. When it arrived I was so pleased with the color. It is a very rich beautiful jewel green with a rich red border. I have had alot of compliments whenever I wear it. 70" x 28" Border Pattern Double Layer Woven Pashmina Shawl / Scarf / Wrap / Stole - Burgandy

I ordered two of these shawls, one burgundy and one blue. The burgundy, which has olive trim, was for myself and is soft, generously sized and a really lovely color. The one I bought for a Christmas present for my best friend, the blue with what looks on my monitor like red -- but is really fuschia -- had a nickel-sized hole visible through the plastic. Disappointing. I sent it back and got a prompt refund. For the price plus shipping, this was a lot of money to spend on something that arrived so obviously damaged. So quality control leaves something to be desired. But as I say, the other shawl was beautiful. So I guess it's hit or miss.

I love this piece- I bought the olive green: its not a rich, brighter-olive. the colors are brilliant- actually much brighter and richer than the pictures show (to be expected of silk-pashmina). the shawl is super soft and fairly warm. I love this shawl and would recommend it highly!

after reading other reviews, I was greatly disappointed; seemed to be cheaply made and even had a large flaw down the back. Although the colors were quite nice, the shaw was not worth the $25.00 pricetag. I returned it immediately. I do not like to speak negatively about anything, but this is for the good of others looking to buy...

This wrap is very nice. I really liked it. I think the picture of it makes it look a little bigger then what it is. I think my mother in law will be wearing it more like a scarf then a wrap. The fabric is beautiful and the product is well made.

When I read the reviews for this item, I was convinced this is the product I would buy to give as a thank-you gift for a remarkable professor who helped me with my PhD applications. They were right! The scarf is so soft, so silky and so luxurious. It is a stark difference from ones you see on side-walk stalls in New York, or small vendors in Toronto. I bought the burgundy for my professor, and it makes anyone look like a rich and sophisticated person who has a great sense of style. It is a little expensive (I bought it for $25) but I feel it was a well-worth purchase.

This shawl is SO soft! I purchased this as a gift for a friend, since I have a similar one, myself. I was surprised by the quality of it- heavy and well woven! The colors are beautiful, too. A great product for the price!

This is a beautiful garment. I bought it as a present for my wife. She loves it. She says it is too fancy for wearing around the house or while running errands. It is better worn for an evening out or when attending a social event.

I like several things about this Pashmina Shawl.

It is light weight but still warm.

It comes in a wide selection of colors. I chose fuscia, which is attractive and stylish.

It is long and wide (70" by "28") so it covers my wife's body when it is chilly.

I recommend this product, it is perfect for a cool spring day or a chilly autumn evening. - Wraps - Pashmina Wrap - Pashminas'

Leather Case - leather case, ipad stand

First, I have to tell you that I have looked at almost all iPad cases available in stores and online and have tried several of them since the iPad was released, but this case/stand is definitely the best of all - it looks very stylish and functions so well.

As a case, it provides excellent all-around protection. The material may not be top quality leather, but it feels soft and good in my hands or lap. As a landscape stand, it's just fantastic. All of the four angle positions work great and are useful for different situations. At the lowest angle, it is perfect for typing. At the second and third angles, it's great when you're sitting. And the highest angle can be useful when you're lying in bed or on a sofa. The designer(s) paid a lot of attention down to every little detail, so it makes me feel as if it were the creation of the same people who designed the awesome iPad.

In conclusion, I am extremely satisfied with it and highly recommend it to anyone!!! Acase Leather Flip Book Jacket/Folio for Apple iPad Tablet WiFi/3G, Black

This is an excellent case that I believe is better than Apple's, for significantly less money. If you need an Apple logo then this isn't for you; otherwise it's great. We are a two iPad family (one received as a gift) and actually have both cases, so it is easy to compare. The iPad slides in easily and is held by a strong frame along one of the long edges and two corner "loops" along the other long edge. The fit is very tight and secure. Sliding the edge with the volume controls into the frame results in no loss of any button functionality (one reviewer mentioned that the volume buttons are partially blocked--that's only if you put it in the other way). Our Apple case actually partially blocks the speaker, although my guess is that some do and some don't given manufacturing tolerances, but regardless, the Acase fit is actually better in our experience.

What makes this case particularly good are three features: 1) the case is slightly cushioned. While it makes it slightly thicker than Apple's (1/8th of an inch), in my opinion it also makes it more protective and reduces the "worry factor". 2) it has four different "blocks" that you can rest the side containing the iPad in to create different landscape viewing angles. These are sturdy and offer more flexibility than Apple's design. The lowest setting does not get as low as the Apple case's "typing mode" but I find I rarely use that anyway. 3) it has a loop that snaps the halves closed. This seems trivial but if you are putting it in a carry-on or purse, it provides more protection against things getting between the flaps and damaging the screen. Apple's just folds closed with nothing to secure it in that position.

Other reviews have cited that it isn't real leather. Honestly it's hard to tell but whatever it is made of, it is high quality and pleasant to hold. Apple's isn't leather either, rather it is a matte rubber type material. One disadvantage is that the edges are not as protected with this case vs. Apple's (the Apple case is a frame on all 3 exposed sides) although my principal concern is the screen, and so this is minor in my opinion. Also, obviously the buttons, speaker, etc. are exposed with the Apple case and those are what is at risk along the edges anyway.

I gave my wife the choice between this one and Apple's, and after trying both she went with this one. I would have as well. Overall this is an excellent case.

Advertised as leather on Amazon and in packaging. Case is NOT Leather --- it's petrol-smelling vinyl. It has cloth elastic bands to hold the ipad -- does not protect the corners. When stored face-up, the flap snap is underneath, and prevents it from lying flat. It has raised bumper pads inside that rest against and rub against the screen. The notches for angling are only good for steep angles for viewing, not a low angle for typing. I am returning this item and will continue my search for a real leather case that will actually protect my investment.

This looks like a well made case and it's understated, unlike some of the things I've seen. It's also one of the more reasonably priced cases, since everyone seems to think "ipad, let's gouge anyone who has one". The really best part of this case, though, isn't the case or its features. It's that you can look at the packaging which reads "Leather Case for iPad" across the top, followed by the line "Real leather-like". It's vinyl. It's also "real vinyl-like".

After 60 days.

I initially gave this case 4 stars but am now reducing it to 3 stars. The raised squares which are supposed to support the iPad in several angles are not high enough. They slip off. It's a design flaw. The edge that contacts the raised squares should be stiffer or the squares should be higher.

This problem doesn't get better with time, it gets worse.

It is synthetic leatheroid, not real leather. It did not hold up well.

It works well enough as a landscape viewing stand, if it is on a flat stable surface, but it does not adjust low enough to use for typing comfortably.

After I had been using it 3 or 4 weeks daily, the pads for the stand and the ridgid backing softened up a bit, so it was not as sturdy or stable. I took it out of the case regularly to put it on the Apple iPad keyboard, and it was easy and convenient for this procedure. Then I accidentally dropped it with the iPad secured inside onto a tiled floor from about 4 ft, and it landed on the upper right corner of the ipad. This ripped the leatherette tab on that corner and allowed the ipad aluminum body to get slighlty bent at that corner around the on switch/volume/rotation switch, which appears to be the weakest point of the ipad unibody.

Ipad still works fine, but I would not trust this case any more! It offers minimal real protection if you drop it!

Pros:

-cheap.

-easy and quick access to ports/buttons

Cons:

-cheaply made, not really leather

-no portrait mode stand

-no typing mode stand

-no real protection of the vulnerable corners of the device

-no protective coverage of ports and buttons

-fell apart within a month of daily use

-stand mode is not very stable in a car or moving it around

Bottom line: threw it away and got the Otter Commuter case, and will make my own homemade stand for it based on some of the clever designs I have seen on the web. - Ipad - Leather Case - Ipad Stand - Ipad Cover'

Pointing Device - pointing device, presentations

I ordered this product in the 11th hour and Amazon came thru with a Saturday morning delivery. Great service! Having ordered a different pointer, I found the "other" one to be small, and it would rotate in my hand so it was difficult to use. This pointer feels great in my hand. I am able to hang on to it, and can easily find the presentation buttons without having to look down at the pointer. Very comfortable to hold.

I received complaints from attendees regarding the quality of the laser. It's not bright or bold enough for attendees to immediately find where I am pointing on my presentation. Dissapointment.

While I like the idea of the USB 1 GB Memory stick which inserts into the base for storage and turning OFF the pointer, it is NOT a feature I ended up liking. In four days I went thru 4 batteries (2-AA batteries each). They say the batteries should last a year. To get the stick out of the base, you must push in, for it to pop out. While the pointer was in my briefcase, the stick released, causing the batteries to be activated. I now have to take out the batteries after every presentation to ensure the life of my batteries. UGH! What a time stealer.

Come on Kensington, step up and make these minimal improvements and you would have an outstanding pointer. Kensington Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer and 2 GB Built-in Memory (Black) - Laser Pointer - Pointing Device - Presentations - Powerpoint'

Ipad Accessory - ipad accessory, ipad

Though released with the iPad 2, this adapter will, in fact, pipe both video and audio out of an iPad 1 and an iPhone 4 through HDMI without any problem as long as the app you wish to view supports it.

My main interest in this adapter was to have the ability to watch Netflix streaming on family TVs who do not have Internet service. The Netflix app works beautifully over AT&T 3G connections on both the iPad and iPhone 4, but I wished to have a way to use the service at older family member's houses who do not have Internet of any sort. I had read most of the reviews here on Amazon and done some other digging around, but no one was very clear as to what this adapter could and could not do on older hardware. Here's my assessment to date:

iPad 2 - You get true "mirroring" performance. This essentially means that whatever you see and hear from the iPad 2 on screen gets put through the HDMI connection, including the home screen icons, sound effects, etc. This is what the adapter was created for.

iPad 1 - When plugged in, you do not get to see anything on the TV screen, but the TV will recognize that it is receiving an HDMI signal. It will simply be blank. The iPad 1 screen will behave normally until you open an app that is compatible with video/audio out and that's when the magic starts. In the Netflix app, which is the only one I've tested so far, you still get the menus and whatnot on the iPad 1 screen as always, but as soon as you start playing streaming video, the iPad 1 screen displays a red screen with the Netflix logo. All the video and sound gets piped through the HDMI output to the TV.

I did not have sophisticated testing equipment or ability to display the signal's resolution on the TV, but the resolution appears to be, at least for iPad 1, 720p. There was no distortion or stretching of the picture and it filled the TV screen properly with very small horizontal bars to keep the aspect ratio correct. With three bars of signal, the movie streamed just fine and quality was perfectly viewable with no grossly obvious compression artifacts. Better than VHS and loosely in the ballpark of DVD (though upconverted to 720p, apparently).

iPhone 4 - I tried the same thing on my iPhone 4. It all works essentially the same as on an iPad 1, which makes perfect sense given the similarities in hardware. I did notice much worse compression artifact errors, though, when output to TV. My guess is that the video signal being streamed to the iPhone 4 is scaled down to fit the small screen, where such artifacting would be less noticeable, and that this small-screen version does not scale well to a 42" HDTV. Though both sound and video were output just fine, the quality of the video left much to be desired. In fact, I would describe the video as essentially unwatchable.

It's my understanding that other apps work essentially the same. I don't have a list of apps, other than Netflix, which will work in this way. I wouldn't be surprised if the YouTube app, iPod video, etc. worked and even possibly a game or two. My main need was Netflix, and it works just fine for that purpose.

The adapter itself has two ports, one HDMI female port and one standard female iPod connector port. This permits you to power/charge the iPad or iPhone while simultaneously outputting video and audio. Not included, of course, is an HDMI cable. I would suggest you get at least a 3' cable, possibly a 6' cable, with which to connect to the TV or projector since you'll have to account for needing to physically manipulate the touch screen to start up video output. Build quality is typical Apple, which is to say excellent.

Very pleased with my gamble to purchase this. Didn't want others to have to worry if their intended use was similar. Apple MC953ZM/A Digital AV Adapter ZML

I bought this item right before HBOGo was released so I could watch all of the HBO series' on my TV. I was disappointed that when HBOGo was released and I hooked up my iPad 2 all that popped up on my TV was a HBOGO logo. Besides that it works great, if you buy movies or shows off of itunes they look great on the TV. I would buy this unless you want it specifically for HBOGo

This is a little positive review to try balance out some of these ridiculous 1 star reviews. Duh, of course this adapter only works for iPad 2! They announced it the same day! Don't you think if apple could have made an HDMI adapter for iPad 1, it would have been out before by now?

The amazon listing even SAYS iPad 2 in the title. Please guys, give a review based on if the product works properly or not, not because you didn't bother to read the product requirements.

Like others have noted, this AV adapter should only be used with the iPad 2 for mirroring and watching movies such as on Netflix. I chose to purchase this adapter because HDMI cables carry both audio and video unlike VGA cables which only do video. However, the Netflix quality is noticeably inferior on the TV when using the iPad compared to my other Netflix streaming devices such as my PS3 and Blu-Ray player.

I tried to be a little fancy and connected my camera connection kit to the Apple pinout (this adapter has an HDMI port and an Apple pinout), but the iPad did not recognize the camera or the SD memory card. The pinout can only be used for charging and nothing more. Even though Apple made it clear that the pinout is for charging the iPad, it is still a shame because other accessories could have easily been supported if Apple made an effort to do so.

Overall, the cable does its job but not in a spectacular way. I really thought I would use this adapter often, but the mediocre video output quality and the one-dimensional functionality of this promising product has caused me to only use this only for "emergency" situations.

If your iPhone is jailbroken you can use the mirroring function just as the Ipad 2 can, however you must first install a Cydia app called Displayout, after that it will work fine. I still think that this is too pricey for a simple cable but it is fun to play iPhone games on my HDTV. - Ipad 2 - Ipad - Ipad Accessory'

Wireless Controller - wireless controller, ps3 wireless controller

The PlayStation 3 controller has gotten a lot of press because of its lack of vibration. However, it is wireless, extremely light, and has tilt sensors in it. This seems a great trade-off during gameplay.

First, let's get through the "bad" that many people have gotten upset about. They took out the rumble controller from the PS3 controller. This was for legal reasons - a company which developed that rumble technology took issue with Sony using it. Some people feel it really affects gameplay not to have that rumbling.

I have to admit that I am VERY happy, personally, that the rumbling is gone. I always turned off the rumble in games where I could. I am on my computer pretty much 24 hours a day, and if I play a game with rumble on, it *kills* my wrists. If you're a rumble fan, this is a decision you'll have to make for yourself.

Now, to the good parts of the controller. First, they all come wireless for the PS3. I *love* love wireless. Wires cause huge clutter in our living room, with all our systems and equipment. You only have to plug the controller in to power it up. It's a regular USB power-up so you can use your iPod's plug (assuming you have an iPod) or plug it into your computer or XBox 360 or anything else with a USB on it. That is to say, you don't have to power it up from your PS3 if you don't want to for some reason.

Next, it is super light! I imagine this is because it doesn't have to hold the motors that cause rumbling. I really appreciate the lightness. You might not notice if you only play a game for an hour or two, but if you're doing marathon sessions of multiple hours, the weight of the controller really does begin to matter.

Just like the Wii controllers, this controller has a tilt sensor in it. It actually knows when you tilt and turn the controller, or shake it. Depending on the game, you can use those tilts to look around or to shake off an enemy. That really gives you much more interactivity with the game, much more than button pushing.

The general controller shape is exactly the same as the PS2 controller. You have a pair of shoulder buttons on each side, two joysticks, four buttons on the right and four directional buttons on the left. There's a PS button in the center, just like there's an XBox button in the middle of the Xbox 360 controller. Also, there are four lights on the unit, to let you know if this controller is #1, #2, #3 or #4 if you are playing multi-player games.

The center PS button lets you turn the unit on and off, which is great if your console is off in a shelf or corner of the room.

In general, I think they did a great job with the PS3 basic controllers. The main console sale both for 20 and 60 comes only with one controller - so be sure to get yourself a second one! PlayStation 3 Wireless Sixaxis Controller

Sony's controller has it's good and bad. Good news first, one thing I like about it is the super light weight...by far the lightest controller I've ever owned. It also is now wireless. You can also turn on and off the console with the "PS" button in the middle. One of the best features is the new SIXAXIS motion feature. It makes game playing interesting. For example, you can literally steer your motor vehicle by moving the pad left, right, up or down in the game Motorstorm (demo). We'll see how developers will use this feature in future games...but so far so good!

There are drawbacks to the controller. For one, there is a usb cord that comes with the system and controller...what's disappointing is that the usb cord is so short maybe about only 5 feet long. I'm not sure if they include they usb cord if you buy the pad individually. However, I guess Sony expects gamers to sit right up to the tv when playing or charging the controller because of the short cord. I had to add an extension since I am about 10 feet away. But you won't use the cord so much because it charges pretty quick and battery lasts a long time before it needs charging...maybe up to 30 hours?

Another negative is that the L2 and R2 buttons feel awkward. Sony tried to make this into "triggers" but still keeping it's controller pad form, causes strains with some games. For example playing Need for Speed Carbon and holding the R2 trigger all the time, your fingers will slip when it gets moist. The least Sony could of done was make the buttons more rubbery for more grip or design the trigger so your fingers won't be slipping off the button.

Other than that, the controller is pretty simple and with the motion sensor makes it different from the past ones. I would of still preferred the "boomerang" type controller they had in mind, but the SIXAXIS isn't too bad of a deal....

Here's a wireless controller that doesn't feature vibration feedback. That's a first. Both Microsoft and Nintendo have made vibration standard on there controllers. What Sony does different is add motion control. Actually the controller can sense six different movements. Although this is not a feature that really sells me. I was skeptical of this pad because of what was missing. And using the Dual Shock controller for nearly ten years I knew what to expect. Finally getting my hands on one of these I was able to tell all the differences. For one Sony has made it much easier for people to not have to get up every time they want to turn the PS3 on or off. That is what the PS button is for. Secondly they have changed the L2/R2 buttons and made them triggers. These triggers take getting used to. Generally the L2/R2 or what was referred to as shoulder buttons were rarely used. Except maybe in a shooting game. Now these triggers have a starring role in racing games. For many years I have been accoustomed to the X button representing throttle. Now it's R2 in many racing games. After using this paddle for several hours I have realized how much more I enjoy it. It's is quite light. Only a few ounces and makes it easy to use for hours at a time. I have also noticed how well the battery stays charged. Even after five days and twenty plus hours of use it still has two thirds battery power. I have used the 360 controller and the Wii mote and have found this is the most comfortable to me. Right now vibration doesn't make much of a difference for me and motion control is useless. I just enjoy the feel and really that's what's important when playing games for hours. - Wireless Controller - Controller - Ps3 Wireless Controller - Ps3 Controller'

Ipod Touch Accessories

These stylus are very well made and work very well, if all you want to do is find an alternative to pressing the onscreen keyboard. However, these stylus are totally useless for use with a drawing program because the rubber tip will not glide across the screen. If you use your iPhone outdoors and you are wearing gloves, these stylus are for you. If you want to draw, then you'd be better off with a stylus with a soft foam tip. 3 Pack of Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen (Red + Black + Silver)

Short and sweet:

I've tried three of the stylus brands offered on Amazon: The $15.00; the $11.99 aCase; and the cheap three-pack "Universal Touch Screen Stylus.".

It is easy to tell you which not to buy: the cheap ones. The rubber tips on them have too much friction. You can't write or draw easily; you literally feel like the Stylus is getting stuck on the screen. Guaranteed, one zillion percent, you will hate it.

Now, to the Boxwave vs. the aCase.

This isn't just a draw; there's not even a fight, because the two products are exactly the same (there's one subtle difference in the way the little headphone-jack string insert is attached to the pen. One uses a tiny, carbiner-type hook, and the other a ring. You'd probably never notice the difference, because there is non.

So, which to buy? The aCase is three dollars cheaper, but it only comes in black. That's it.

Boxwave: http://www.amazon.com/review/create-review/ref=cm_cr_dp_wr_but_right?ie=UTF8&nodeID=172282&asin=B000ETU944&store=electronics

aCase: http://www.amazon.com/Acase-Apple-Capacitive-Stylus-Black/dp/B003ULE6GU/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_1

Three-pack: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Touch-Screen-Stylus-Silver/dp/B002BBJMO6/ref=pd_cp_e_3

I should have read the reviews carefully.

Do not buy this if you want to use it with your iPhone to draw, slide the screens or do anything cool.

The tip is very soft and you need to put some effort in pressing it against the screen. If you try to slide it, you are in danger of damaging the screen since the tip moves away and the hard plastic of the stylus can scratch your precious sceeen.

This is probably good if you are missing a finger or you are wearing gloves and your apps are in the main screen.

There are three (3) types of touch screens, buy the correct stylus for your screen.

From eHow:

Resistive-type screens lack the clarity of other touch screens but they tend to be very durable and can be used in a variety of environments. Resistive-type screens are the most common in use today.

Capacitive screens are resistant to outside elements, making them very durable, and they still maintain a high clarity. Unlike resistive and surface wave screens, which can be used with stylus, capacitive panels must be touched with a finger.

Surface wave touch panels are the more advanced of the three types, offering the highest clarity. But they are more easily damaged by outside elements.

[...]

The iPad has a capacitive touch screen, your gloves won't work, and that plastic stylus from your old Palm PDA won't work either. Buy a capacitive stylus for your iPad.

For reaching those peskly small areas on your iPod Touch screen, the Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen does the trick! They are comfortable in the hand and helps to make some of those tasks easier on the iPod Touch. If you have trouble with fingers that don't quite work the way you wish, then this is another reason to consider purchasing these pens.Silver Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen for Apple Iphone 1st Gen, 3G 2nd Gen, Ipod Touch

The price and shipping time on this item are great. Sadly, the item itself is basically useless. I bought this for my iPad and it works but you have to mash really hard and then it leaves a funky streak mark and it's hard to get it to work and then it isn't very precise. I bought it to have a stylus to use with a drawing app and given how big the tip is and hard I have to mash to get it to work it's much less useful than simply using my finger.

This is a very nice stylus with a soft rubber tip. They work great on my Instinct and with the rubber tip there is no fear of scratching the screen. My only "issue" is that the stylus are to thick to fit into the stylus pocket on the stock Instinct case... but the size does make the stylus much more easier to control so you're more accurate with them. I'm glad I ordered the three pack because I can just keep one at work, one in the car, and one at home.

With fat fingers and hands that sometimes shake, these styluses worked great on my iPad AND my DroidX phone. I often give them away to friends and have ordered about four packs so far! For the price, it's worth a try!'

Camera Battery Charger - camera battery charger, photography

Before i bought this Kodak rechargeable battery, i was using regular rechargeable batteries from like walmart and kamrt, those are Nihm rechargeable batteries and they arnt good to use with big point and shoot cameras like i have. i have the kodak Z712is and those store boughts would only let me get about 10 pics if i was luck on a single charge, so they were no good for this camera but great with my little point and shoot canon. So i had to buy this battery, and boy what a difference. Im able to get 250+ shots on a single charge with this battery..I luv it. Im probably going to get another so when ones charging i can use the other this way one is always charged....GREAT BATTERY !! KODAK KLIC-8000 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery + Kodak Rapid Charger

We have a Kodak Easyshare Z1485IS.. We have tried all different kinds of batteries, and found the lithium (silver) worked the best of them all, but were expensive at $10.00 for four of them... Then I did a search and found this battery and thought I had nothing to lose.. I charged the battery when I got it and am still taking photos at the time of this review.. I have over 200 photos so far, and still going on one charge.. Using my old rechargeables I could not get 30 photos on a charge.. I would highly recommend this. I'm going to pick me up another set to have on hand in between charges... Save the aggravation now.. Buy this!

kinda clunky but charges battery.

I have the dock so now mine is useless also unit and batteries are overpriced so I doubt I will ever need to charge 2 at a time.

update: as for the battery mine give 30-40mins of video recording and is dead and take a while to charge not good at all.

I had a Nikon using ALKY and NIMH got months of use if did not get cold. "hours of video"

maybe mine is a lemon but I stick with my 3/5 review not a 5 star anything the dock is a better investment, once you get it to work.

Works great, and no complaints. It seems to hold a charge for quite awhile and allow for an adequate number of pictures. It came with charger, so it was all I needed to have a rechargeable battery for my camera. This was recommended -- other batteries apparently don't have enough power, but this one did.

I purchased this as a replacement for the original which was broken. I find it an escellent charger for the battery intended for use in my Kodak. You should be 100% satusfied with this selection.

Photoshop Elements 9 - photoshop elements, adobe photoshop

I upgraded from Photoshop Elements (PSE) 6 for Windows to PSE9 for Mac and was glad to see that the Mac and Windows versions were essentially the same. Since I use iPhoto for organizing, I can't say anything about PSE's Organizer, but I gave the Editor a workout.

Elements is at the high end of what I'll spend for a photo editor, and I buy roughly every third version to keep the price reasonable over the years, so it's time, and I'm happy to say that 9.0 fits my needs . . . and then some.

Like PSE6, PSE9 it is a great overall photo editor. It does a good job of enhancing photos, either with a click of a button or just a few clicks if I happen to disagree with the Auto Smart Fix. It can process batches of photos that all need the same work done to them. And it has enough manual controls (histograms, contrast, brightness, shadows/highlights, red eye, color correction, layers, etc.) to do just about anything to a photo you can imagine.

Pros:

* It works smoothly with iPhoto; I could switch back and forth easily and quickly and open multiple photos at once for editing.

* It's fast on my MacBook Pro.

* The editor hasn't crashed yet, and I'm running through thousands of photos.

* All of the features that I'm familiar with from previous versions still work well, and some, like the magic lasso, work even better than before.

* Content-aware healing can perform minor miracles in my hands. In the hands of an expert, or someone with more patience, it can probably perform major miracles.

* The Guided Edits helped me visualize the steps involved for some of the more complicated features, which helped me make better use of the Full Edit.

* PhotoMerge Group Shot is incredibly easy to use. I had two photos shot at different distances, and PSE had no trouble making the necessary adjustments.

* Removing clutter from photographs is simple.

* Oh happy day, Elements now has layer masks, a feature that used to be the domain of its pricier sibling. Now you can make parts of a layer more or less opaque, allowing for some really neat effects. I won't use this often, but a few of my photos are just crying out for it.

Cons:

* The Welcome Screen is still annoying. Fortunately, you can set it up to go straight to the Organizer or Editor.

* It still can't batch process the Save for Web feature. Sigh.

* My camera has a panorama assistant but doesn't stitch them together, so I was interested in PSE9's enhanced panorama stitching. For the most part, it's very easy. PSE does most of the work. Unfortunately, it created an enormous file--117mg--out of my five 5mg photos and ran out of RAM before it could finish everything--even after I maxed out the RAM in Preferences. I ended up with a very nice panorama but had to reduce the file size before doing some of the final touches myself. Then the final jpeg size turned out to be smaller than any of the individual photos.

* Yeah, I would have liked a manual.

If you are currently using PSE 8, there may not be enough new features to warrant an upgrade yet, though the content-aware healing might make it worth it. From version 6? Definitely.

If you have never used Elements, this is a great application with a bit of a learning curve. Get the free one-month trial, and borrow a book on it from the library. That's where I'll be headed once the manuals for version 9 show up. Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 (Win/Mac) [OLD VERSION]

I've been using Photoshop Elements for over 5 years and have always thought it was a tremendous value. I've also used the full version of Photoshop, and if you can afford it - it's worth the money. I'm a professional photographer and marketer. I use Photoshop Elements almost every day and it does 99.5% of the things that I would use Photoshop to do (off the top of my head I can't think of anything I want to do in Photoshop that I can't do in Photoshop Elements).

I was thinking of updating to the full version of Photoshop for it's new content aware healing features. Photoshop Elements 9 adds this functionality to Photoshop Elements (and some other great additions too). If you're looking for a photo editing software application Photoshop Elements is the best value on the market. Period!

I would give PSE 9 zero stars if I could. If you are a Windows 7 user BEWARE! PSE 9 has serious flaws and Adobe's Customer Support is extremely poor.

My issues with PSE 9 on Windows 7 x 64 machine are:

1. Self corrupting software - this is a persistent problem that started with PSE 8 and continues in PSE 9. The program installs fine, will run fine for 4-8 weeks, then one of the critical PSE files gets corrupted. The only solution for this to date has been a complete uninstall, including registry cleanup and removal of all traces of PSE, then a clean boot re-install. This takes several hours and is not trivial - miss something and you get to do it all over again. After reinstallation it runs fine again for 4-8 weeks, then it corrupts again, and the entire process has to be repeated. This kind of problem appears in several forms and is well documented in multiple threads in Adobe's Customer Forums, for just one example see here:

[...]

2. Adobe Customer Support - the poorest I have ever experienced from a major software company. After installation you get 90 days of free support. If your problem extends beyond what level 1 can resolve (not much) and gets escalated, expect to wait 4-7 days for the next level to contact you. Once they do successive iterations of a try this and tell us how it works followed by the next step take more than 2 days. So far I have been through level 2 for 5 days and still no sign or indication of any resolution.

3. Product structure - the Organizer side of PSE 9 is a real dog (as it was with PSE 8)! I haven't seen a serious positive comment on this portion anywhere. Unfortunately this portion is essential if you want to print more than 1 image on a single piece of printer paper. Overall, poor software design and structure.

My history with Adobe's PSE products has been extensive spanning 10 years. I have been a loyal Photoshop Elements user since the introduction of the first version in 2001. Along the way I made periodic upgrades including versions 4, 5 and 6. With a new system in 2010 and the Windows 7 operating system it was time for the then new version of PSE, which at that time was 8. Shortly after the initial installation the problems I noted above (1.) first appeared. I fought with this problem for ~ 6 months, without help from Adobe's support group. With the release of version 9 I was hopeful that the "bug" would be resolved and Organizer would be improved, so I bought it. Sadly, I was wrong.

Two months after the installation the same problems with the Editor returned, and disappointingly Organizer is just as bad in version 9 as it was in 8.

After working with Adobe's Customer Support folks for more than a week with an average response time of more than 2 days between successive contacts and still no sign of any resolution to the self-corrupting nature of PSE 9 in Windows 7 I have concluded that there are far better options.

If you are a Windows 7 user I strongly recommend that you stay away from this product and find an alternative from another supplier. There are several excellent options that readily handle Adobe's PSD files, so you will easily be able to work with your old PSE created files. - Photo Editing - Adobe Photoshop - Photoshop Elements - Image Editing'
