Electrical Engineering - graphing calculator, ti-86

I had used a TI-83 for Precalc, but really needed something a little more powerful for Calculus, so I bought an 86. One of my friends has an 89, but many tests that allow graphing calculators still don't allow a TI-89 because they have "algebraic manipulation" capabilities, plus the 86 is cheaper, so I went with that. I have not been disappointed. It has a much cleaner interface than the 83, and the 83's only real advantage, a strong financial and statistics package, can be downloaded to the 86 as an addon. Be warned though if you do that, the Graph Link cable (to the computer) is not cheap. It's a great calculator with a lot of good features. Those looking for more features can easily customize it by programming it, a pretty straightforward process. Texas Instruments TI-86 Graphing Calculator

I bought this around mid 1997 and I'm still using it to this day. It's helped me through AP Calc, Calc II, Calc III, Differential Equations, Advanced Engineering Math, SATs, GREs, Fundamentals of Engineering exam for EIT certification, and etc...I actually bought a TI-89 around soph year of college just to complement the TI-86.You see, the TI-86 is a SOLID engineering calculator. It's got fast units conversions, an intuitive and FAST menu system BUT it lacks "pretty print", handling of units for math (keeps the units throughout equations, calculators), and integration/differentiation with the variables in place (it doesn't just evaluate it). With the right software, the TI-89 is a very powerful math tool.I used the TI-89 primarily for theoretical math but came in handy for standardized tests as well.I would recommend getting both the TI-89 and TI-86 and start familiarizing yourself with both calculators before you start tackling tests. Check the rules and regs for calculators also - standardized tests should allow the use of the 86 and 89.Overall, the TI-86 is a solid math tool - notice I say TOOL because that's what it is. If you have no idea what you're doing in class, the TI-86 won't give you an A.My recommendation is to get both the TI-86 and TI-89. Just FYI, I'm still using the TI-86 at work. The buttons show some wear and I lost the first line of the LCD because I dropped it in college. Nonetheless it's still chugging along. Also, slap in four 750mAH NiMH batteries. You will NOT regret this because these calculators drain alkaline batteries in half a semester of intensive use. We didn't have cheap NiMH batteries back in the day - TI actually pushed the use of Rayovac Renewals (remember those rechargeable alkalines that only lasted 5 charges?) and our other choice was NiCd. Forget all that. Slap in four Energizer 750mAh NiMH batteries and you'll save yourself a LOT of money in the long run. That means more money for video games and other forms of entertainment in college.

If you are involved with heavy mathematical calculations, you will find that there is nothing better to have at your side, than a trusty TI-86. With this extraordinary calculator you can literally do anything from statistical to calculus work, and even work in the sciences. The interface is simple to learn (speaking in a graphing calculator sense), and the manner in which things are done on this calculator is so much easier than on the older TI-85.If you need to know what points are in a function, enter the function into the graph, and select table... Voila! In nice graphical format TI-86 will provide you with an x,y table with all points you select! Its that easy... TI-86 also does an extraordinary job with parametric equations!I have used the TI-85, and actually was looking for one when I bought this calculator. I couldn't find it anywhere, so I took the plunge and picked up a TI-86... After using it for a semester in university math and sciences classes, I will NEVER go back to the 85!

Any high school kid in a higher math, like pre-calc, Algebra 2, and calculus, is urged by teachers to buy a TI-83. The fact of the matter is that the TI-83, even the TI-83 Plus is dated. The TI-86 offers many more advanced features than the 83. For example, a polynomial solver. This is a built in quadratic formula, which can solve polynomial equations to any order, not just 2. Also, Texas Instruments added constants and converstion features which allow you to, if you are in Physics or Chemistry, which I am, to swich from BTU's to Joules, from feet to meters and not have to memorize Avogadro's Number. To top it off, if your teacher uses a constant that isn't built in, you can add it yourself VERY easily. The TI-86 is basically a combination of the 83's abilities and the 85's abilities. I am taking Physics and AP Chemistry and Pre-Calc right now and I can't imagine this classes without the features and ease of operation this calculator has. I also know that when the teacher gives instructions on how to do things on the 83, because that is the calculator most kids have, the procedure is not much different and is easier most of the time. If you need a graphing calculator, buy this one. It is the best buy hands down. - Graphing Calculator - Engineering - Electrical Engineering - Ti-86'

School Supplies - school supplies, pencils

I am very happy with these Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils as they are very useful in doing puzzles where I need to erase a lot. The lead is just the right softness and when the tip is sharpened I am able to right with much accuracy. I recommend these pencils highly and if you are in need of a good puzzle pencil then the Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils #2/HB Soft Lead DIX13882 are the pencils you are looking for. Thanks! Dixon Ticonderoga Wood Cased Black Core #2 Pencils, Soft, 12 Count, Yellow (13882)

I am not sure who the people are that are giving this pencil a five star rating but they must not use pencils as often as I do! I am a first grade teacher and these pencils are terrible. I know since I sharpen more than 20 of them a day! They are not made in the USA. They are made in China and Mexico and the ones from Mexico are worse than the ones from China however, they are both poor. I actually have complained to the company and was sent over 24 dozen to compensate me for the poor quality that I have been experiencing. I used to request this brand specifically because they were good at one point...but that is no longer the case. The replacements they sent me are just as bad as the ones I had in my classroom originally. For next year I have changed the brand of pencils that all of our first grade will be using from Ticonderoga to Papermate....we shall see how they work--the pencil wars are on in my classroom. Does anyone take pride in their products anymore????

These pencils are absolute garbage. You can't even sharpen then without the wood splitting down the middle. If you are lucky enough to get past that, the lead is very weak and breaks off everytime you try and write with it. This is the WORST PENCIL EVER!

This review is of Dixon Ticonderoga yellow pencils, model 13882 (dozen). Generations of American schoolkids grew up writing with them, and I still use them for their durability, solid quality and chipper yellow, easy-to-locate color -- and despite the hexagonal shape of the barrel. (They're my second favorite wood pencil after the round black Mirado Warriors.) Just recently, I started to run out of the last dozen Ticon's that I bought a few years ago and ordered more. Is there anything that hasn't changed?

I am a little disappointed with the new ones. Same six-sided barrel, same-looking ferrule and eraser, yet the finish is not shiny, but matte, and just a little bit off the optimistic yellow of the recent past. Mine have sharpened OK; I even used a small hand-held sharpener on some and they sharpened well too. The wood does appear to be cedar, but it does not have the intense "cedary" smell I remember. These pencils are made in China. Quality of manufacture appears to be up to the old standard, but can they possibly last so long? We'll see.

The Dixon Ticonderoga Wood Cased Black Core #2 HB pencil is the one I look for when I buy pencils for myself and for my kids. I do a lot of note-writing and sketching in conjunction with my job, and this pencil feels good to write with, has exactly the softness of graphite that I prefer, and it even smells good. My son mentioned the smell. I had gotten him the Economy Dixon pencils for school, and he says those ones smell like paint.

One reason why I chose to write this review, was to compare the Ticonderoga with the Economy line. Aside from the smell, the Ticonderoga graphite is a little bit softer than the Economy, and the eraser is about 3mm longer. The pencil shafts of the two are nearly identical in length.

I recently purchased the Charles Leonard Multi-Hole Pencil Sharpener (#89508) and set about testing it with these two lines of pencils. Both sharpened effortlessly, but I noticed that, while the diameter of the Ticonderoga pencil corresponds exactly to the size of the "Standard" setting on the sharpener, I had trouble inserting the Economy pencil with that setting. Adjusting the setting up to the next size was necessary. Having the opening of the pencil sharpener closely match the diameter of the pencil barrel is key to easily keeping the pencil in the right position for sharpening.

I have read complaints about both the Ticonderoga and the Economy pencils being difficult to sharpen. A "one-size fits all" pencil sharpener may actually be the problem. Also, sometimes a particular lot of pencils may get through quality control that has the graphite core off-center. That is a pencil that may make you swear. Many of those novelty pencils that your kids get in birthday party goodie bags may make you swear when you try to sharpen them. I have had perhaps one or two Dixon pencils of both lines that had this problem. But never a whole box. If you buy a box of Dixon pencils and it was a bad lot, I recommend that you contact Prang to see if they would give you a coupon for a free box.

These are the best pencils we have ever bought. The wood is real and you can even get the smell when opening the box. The eraser works the way it should, much better than the cheap quality erasers that tear the paper. - Pencils - Lead Pencils - Dixon - School Supplies'

10x Optical Zoom - digital camera, photography

I found the last generation of coolpix cameras to be disappointing at best. This one however has received some massive improvements.

1. It's very very fast

It is speedy in all ways possible. The shutter response time in almost instantaneous. As soon as you click the button the photo takes... give 1 additional second in poor lighting at worst. Best of all is the photo navigation. Remember those old coolpix commercials where Ashton Kutcher would flick his finger and all the photos would scroll by fast? That never worked before, but it actually does on this one. There is no lag whatsoever on photo viewing or changing settings.

2. Excellent photo quality

I was playing with this in best buy and it took very noticeably clearer photos than the other camera in the same price range... including the Canon powershots. Its actually what made me decide to buy one before I learned all the other good stuff.

3. Functionality

It doesn't allow manual exposure and aperture controls because of its size. However they give you a ton of different scene modes to play around with. Some are a little too niche to matter, but all the main ones are there. Also you can do lots of adjustments to a photo that has already been taken. These are made even easier by using the little included stylus which hangs off your camera strap. The camera has a very good feature which allows you to choose the focus of your picture simply by tapping it on the screen. Finally a purpose to using a touch screen besides flashiness.

4. Looks

Its slim and the screen is large and clear. It's very minimalistic with only 2 buttons on the back. The camera looks very traditional and minimalistic, like most of the coolpix range. It doesn't look or feel cheap by all means, but you're not gonna turn heads when you use it... unless of course you're caught scrolling your library (which does feel pretty cool).

The Bad Parts

This camera only has a couple of negative issues. First off, the lens does not retract into the body when you're viewing photos. It means you can switch to shooting really fast, but it also burdens the way in which you can hold your camera. I would have liked to have been able to hold it flat in my palm while looking at my photos. Another problem is that it doesn't use a battery charger, it charges with a usb cable that plugs directly into the camera. It comes with an AC power adapter that you can plug the cable into if you want... kind of like what an ipod uses. I guess it makes everything simpler and you can carry less stuff when you travel, but I like to charge extra batteries while I'm using my camera.

The touchscreen has a slightly matte surface. Which means it gets very dirty very fast. I put a surface shield on this immediately and it has eliminated that problem completely... but it also makes the touch controls slightly less responsive. If you do this, you can still control the camera well with your finger, but it's faster and easier to navigate photos with the stylus.

I HIGHLY recommend this camera to anyone needing a good point and shoot, especially if speed is important to you. Nikon Coolpix S4000 12 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom and 3.0-Inch Touch-Panel LCD (Silver)

Summary: A great everyday camera. Very good quality pictures, simple to use and very stylish. Small enough that can easily fit in a shirt or pant pocket. Gives you more options in terms of color and exposure manipulations than similarly priced cameras. You can even do basic photo editing using the included stylus. It also has the cool factor of having a touch screen for all controls.

Hi-def video:

720p, 24 frames per second. Does not include an HDMI port, so movies have to be downloaded into a computer to be seen.

Picture sharing:

You get 2GB free online storage to share pictures on the web.

Hardware:

Touch screen: this is the camera's main control mechanism, and it delivers. Bright screen that can easily be seen in bright light. Large virtual buttons that make navigating the options quite easy. Ok responsiveness, not the fastest, but certainly adequate.

Flash: It is tiny. Adequate only for filling in shadows, but in a dimly lit, indoor setting you get some noise on the pictures (as the camera automatically adjusts the ISO). Indoor images tended to be well focused despite the small flash.

Battery: I took 425 pictures (no flash) without needing to recharge.

Ease of use: Once you get used to the idea that there are no buttons readily available (all buttons and commands go through the touch screen on the back) it is quite easy to use. There are some settings (such as BBS) which require a quick review of the manual to know what they are for.

Burst mode: Contrary to other cameras in this group (i.e. Canon A3100) this one includes a burst mode which allows to take up to 16 images in rapid succession.

Pre-set scene mode: Gives you the common ones (portrait, landscape, children running, etc.) and some new ones, such as fireworks and dawn. There are 16 different scenes to choose from there are as many options as higher end models. - Shoot Digital Cameras - Digital Camera - Point - Photography'

Screen Protector - mirrored, thunderbolt

After installing the screen, which went on easily without bubbles, I realized the "mirror" polarized the screen making the colors look horrible. The screen also smudges and smeers easily and cleaning it is a bigger pain than what it's worth. HTC ThunderBolt Mirror Reflect Screen Protector ( 3 Pack )

I bought a few different kinds of screen protectors for the Thunderbolt, this being one of them. Its a neat idea...but the glare on it is ridiculous. If you plan on using your phone outside for anything more than a mirror its impossible, you have to find some shade to make out even the slightest thing. Also it smudges and gets fingerprints on it that arent the easiest to get off, short of windex.

They don't adhere to the screen very well, and the ends and edges keep peeling back. I put on another one hoping it would stay, and the edges are lifting up again. Wait for the Amzer product, I've had many screen protectors from them with no issues with application, and peeling back. - Thunderbolt - Screen Protector - Mirrored'

P90x Resistance Bands - strength training, fitness

Until now I had never used resistance bands and in my case I purchased them with the idea of preparing me to do pull-ups for when I start P90X in a couple of months. I weigh over 200lbs and even though I have a great pull-up bar, I am still getting up to speed in actually being able to do a pull-up so the idea of using the bands to do pull-downs was a great althernative exercise to get ramped up. I chose these bands because of the advertisement that they were heavy duty, stackable and had a door attachment.

The bands seem to be very well made, the grips are comfortable and with the three of them stacked it is very tough for me to do a pull down. So either they give great resistance or I am in even worse shape than I thought! It's also very quick and easy to change out the bands if you want to only use one or a combination of two.

The only hitch I had was figuring out the door attachment which I could not find instructions on how to use. It actually fooled me because it is so simplistic, but after looking at the photos on-line I figured out that you simply put it in a doorway where you can shut the door which locks in the attachment. ProSource Set of 3 XTREME Stackable Heavy Duty Premium Latex Resistance Exercise Bands

After searching all over Amazon and the web I had a hard time finding some quality resistance bands that provided this much resistance with such a great price tag. The bands are of great quality and I received my order before the estimated delivery date. I had a question about the door anchor and the customer service support was lightning fast and very helpful. Would buy again!

Just received these bands about a week ago. Let me tell you, I had no idea that resistance bands could be so intense! First lets speak of the resistance. Simply put, extreme to say the least. These could easily accommodate any exercises I would use free weights with. These of course tend to reduce injuries often associated with improper weight lifting technique, and also can literally go anywhere with me!

Next the quality. Put bluntly, after attending school for 15 months to become a personal trainer, we were around all forms of training equipment, bands included. Even the trainer quality bands we were using at school cannot compare to these. I see virtually no way of breaking these without the use of sharp objects!

These are not the 20 dollar bands you would purchase from an athletics store. These are something altogether different, and I have to say, the insane resistance, great quality, and the mere fact you can stack them for FURTHER resistance allow these bands to do much more than others I have used. Not worrying about them breaking while putting them under heavy use is certainly a perk as well! Five out of five!

For a real challenge try these out through a full cycle of p90x, and see if you can make it! Good luck!

Compact- I was looking for something to workout with while I traveled, and didn't want to carry my heavy dumbbells around in my car. The bands are very compact and barely take up any space. I definitely don't think I'll travel without them. In addition to that I'm going to be using them at home as well because of the ease of use and ability to do so many different workouts.

Resistance- I'm a personal trainer and I workout regularly. I was looking for something to do heavy workouts with, especially for my leg, back, and chest workouts. These resistance bands aren't the ones that the elderly should use for rehab. These bands have SERIOUS resistance. At first I was wondering whether it would be enough resistance if I stacked all the bands at once. When I actually did my first chest workout, I realized that I'm not going to be stacking them for a while. I was in pain with only the purple band (lowest one). I ended up buying the lighter ones (Red and blue) to warm-up with, use for supersets, and as I am tiring out. It's not just the equivalent weight that each band gives that makes the workout intense. It's the CONSTANT resistance that makes the workout so hard. Gravity can't help you here like with dumbbells. The pamphlet that it comes with shows a handful of workouts. But there's an enormous amount of resistance band workout videos on you tube that made me realize that these bands really can replace dumbbells, in terms of weight and workout type. The only downside is if you don't know much about proper form and how to do workouts you'll need to learn from youtube videos. When you want to change the weight, you can just clip and unclip very quickly. I'd suggest buying some of the lighter ones as well (red or blue) or warming up and better stackability. I also purchased some ankle cuffs for leg and ab workouts.

Quality/Durability- At first I thought that these bands would be too strong for my old wooden door. But even with the strong resistance, I only found a tiny dent in the door's molding that I had to search for to notice. The door doesn't even squeak when I am doing the workouts. I really thought my door wouldn't handle a simple set with these bands. The actual bands are reinforced at each end so they don't snap during workouts. The metal clips are of high quality and not cheap. I don't know how these bands would snap on anyone.

Overall- Highly recommended especially for the HIGH QUALITY and LOW PRICE. The other companies were very expensive especially for high weight resistance bands. I have already recommended these bands to one of my friend who didn't think that he can replace dumbbells with these. But he has something comin'.

I had been using a couple different brands of resistance bands for P90, but thought they were a little lightweight. These looked very promising. After the first pull using the lightest band, I knew they were a winner. The lightest band in this set gives the same pull as the heaviest band in the competitors model. I am 5'9". The bands I had been using were 5 feet long. These are 4 feet long, so they get into the "power curve" a lot faster for me without having to fold the band over itself and stand on it. My arms and shoulders got a much stronger workout with these than any other bands I have used. I am very happily impressed. - P90x - Exercise Bands - Strength Training - Fitness'

Acrylic Techniques - acrylic painting, acrylic paints

I really Love this set, but wish that the tubes were in 4 oz's, instead of the ml's that this set contains . other than that small thing, the set is first rate. i love how dark and bright the colors are and they are the right smoothness and thickness to make your own creations. so go wild and have fun, make whatever comes to mind literally. kudos to liquitex for making a fine product. like i've said though, just wish the tubes were bigger that's all, because you can run out paint fast after a few paintings.

Highly Recommended. Liquitex Basics Value Series Acrylic Color Sets set of 36

I had these paints sent to my artist daughter in Oregon for her birthday in the hopes that I made a good choice (knowing nothing about paints). When she received them, she was thrilled. She said they were an excellent quality and the colors were fantastic.

One complaint I have, is that there is only one small tube of white. White needs to be used with so many of the colors, so I wish there was a bigger tube of that, or two tubes. Also the type on the tubes is small and hard to read. Otherwise the set is fine.

Great set! Gave it to my girlfriend for Christmas and she loves it. I'm kind of only going off what she says about it, but she's had a bit of experience with acrylic paints. She was very pleased with the "quality" of the paints and something about the tubes they come in. This is a great gift for artists who like painting, and i would recommend this set to anyone who would want to start painting. Thank you, and I hope you found this helpful.

Every color in the rainbow and perfect for the china we needed to paint. There is no other product recommended for this type of work and it meets every challenge. Our product came out looking exactly like it's counterpart. You could not tell one from the other and this was especially important as they were a set, very fragile and very much in need of matching. I recommend this product without reservation. Shipping was fast and not too expensive. - Painting - Paints - Acrylic Paints - Acrylic Painting'

Dell Replacement Ac Adapter - dell replacement ac adapter, laptop charger

The charger that came with my laptop became very corroded right where it connects, and my laptop wouldn't charge. My battery power was at 2% and I had to sit near an outlet to use my computer; if the charger fell out the computer would instantly die. So I started looking for a replacement.

I was a bit nervous about this charger working on my Dell 1501 when it claimed to work on 26 different models, but it matched the specs of my current charger--65W, 19.5V--and the price was hard to beat. On the Dell website they wanted $80 for a replacement charger, one that was only 3 feet long! So I gave this a try. It looks a bit different from my old charger, but it works, and my laptop is charging as we speak, for the first time in a month. Seller SIB shipped it quite fast; it arrived on the third day after ordering, and I only paid for standard shipping.

We'll see if I have any long term issues, but at this point it looks like I got a better charger (about seven feet long instead of three) at just over a quarter of the price I would have paid by going through Dell for an "official" replacement.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 11-23-09: Bear in mind that extra parts like the charger are sometimes included in your computer's service warranty, if you purchased one. It turns out that my warranty did include the charger, so I really didn't have to buy this charger at all. And since I threw out my old Dell charger when I bought this non-Dell one, I don't have it anymore to exchange for a new Dell one! NEW Laptop/Notebook AC Adapter/Battery Charger Power Supply Cord compatible with Dell Inspiron 1150 1420 1501 1505 1520 1521 1525 1526 6000 6000D 6400 8500 8600

This item arrived Friday 6/12/09 and as soon as it arrived I tried it on my Inspiron 1505 and my son's 1501 and it did not charge either. I contacted these people on Friday and got one response that said they would gladly exchange or fully refund the product, but they need more information to make sure it wasn't a technical issue. I responded back and gave them all of the information they requested and here it is 2 days later and I have not gotten any response at all. At first I was willing to exchange, but now I don't want to deal with people that take your money and leave you hanging. I needed to get this issue resolved as soon as possible as my son is leaving out of town and will need to take our only working adapter.

So please beware if you buy this product it may not work and they will take their time responding to you!!!

Within seconds of using for the first time, it caused the Dell 1525 laptop to smoke and pop. Technician said the adapter had wrong polarity. The refund does not cover the damages...not by a long shot. Everyone is pointing fingers so far. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY BUYING FROM THIS COMPANY EVER!!! My daughters brand new graduation gift is ruined.

I totally understand the favorable reviews...I agreed when I first used two of these Dell laptop power adapters...they are almost identical to the power adpaters we got when we bought our Dell laptops (so, no--they're not lightweight or built for ultra heavy use nor do they span great distances...they're basically the same weight, size and length of the Dell adapters). But there's a reason they're $80 less than any other adapter--the product quality is awful. It's now been two months of moderate use. The first one died a month ago, and in a disturbing way...I plugged it into the wall and the cord that leads from the wall to the adapter actually shorted and started a fire. No lie...an actual fire. I blew it out right away, but after that I didn't trust the other one to be out of my sight while in use. But it worked, so I stuck with it. Then last night, I pulled the wall plug out and one of the two flat prongs stayed in my wall socket. Seriously? I didn't even notice it at first. Can you say electrocution hazard? I knew you could. Maybe these are rare cases of failed quality, but that's enough for me to say you're taking a chance probably not worth taking if you buy this product. All those who gave this product such a great review should provide a followup rating after six months of use--I'm guessing many of those 4-star and 5-star reviews would vanish.

I always depend on owner reviews with an item like this as you will find some are junk and some are just fine... Many reviews for this item said it worked just fine and it does for us also.

Seems to be a wide variety of quality out there these days.

The one we bought charges the battery pack and runs the Dell Inspiron 1501 without problem.

THIS notebook has the optional extended capacity battery pack from Dell also.

Will this replacement power adapter last as long as the original Dell AC adapter? Won't know until it quits, but will report back when it does to let everyone know. Although the original Dell that came with the notebook didn't last very long IMO, around two years I guess.

Everything breaks sooner or later, its value depends on what you paid and how long it worked, at this price, even a year would be ahead of the original Dell unit.

Maybe even 6 months would be good, going by the price of the replacement direct from Dell.

We shall see how it goes, but I've already ordered a second one to use at the office, at these prices might as well not carry an AC adapter back and forth IMO.

All volts, watts & amps on the label matched the original unit, computer side plug matched and fit well and has the positive on the center post.

Note that SOME electronics use the reverse on the DC side (notebook end) and have the positive pole on the outside, so be sure you are ordering the right one on the computer end. Reversed polarity is a sure way to blow more than the new AC adapter out.

It does not have the rubber belt to hold cord around adapter like Dell, but I think that is bad idea on the original adapter as it bends the DC side connection too hard, this replacement adapter also has a third wire grounded AC line unlike the Dell unit which is always good.

Be careful which one you order through Amazon, there are several 3rd party suppliers and not all of them give the same details but still use the same photo. The one from "Super Deal" lists the input/output numbers and that it fit my notebook, some don't... some have BAD reviews, this one has pretty good reviews and they all look the same at first sight, read the details and specs first

Cord length is 18 inches less than Dell unit.

Both of the replacements have a total cord length of 92 inches not counting the adapter box, 46 inches of cord on both AC and DC sides.

Original Dell has total cord length of 110 inches not counting the adapter box, 36 inches on the AC side and 74 inches on the AC side. Not really a problem as I plug them into a power strip that makes up for this and has it's own circuit breaker.

Power plug on the DC end (computer end);

Dell unit measures 9/32" outside diameter with 7/32" inside diameter (negative pole)

THIS replacement measures 9/32" outside diameter with 7/32" inside diameter (negative pole) and does not fall out.

It would seem that Dell uses two sizes of plug that goes into the computer, if you get the smaller size and needed the larger it will keep falling out as many have had happen.

Please NOTE, I'm talking about using this on a two year old Dell Inspiron 1501, they might have changed the plug size needed on other notebook models AND might even change sizes within the same model over time. Be sure to check the size of yours and IF possible the size of the replacement you are going to order.

"Super Deal" page on Amazon also lists a 12 month warranty... good/bad hard to say, but it is given.

No doubt price of warranty shipping each way would buy a new unit outright anyway.

My order was filled by "Super Deal" and they got the order out very fast and was delivered ahead of time given.

I've seen some reviews that just sound like horrible results and have to wonder if some of these people had other things, like their battery packs go bad without knowing it and tried to fix the situation with this adapter only to find out it gets hot and quits trying to power through a shorted battery pack that was the real problem in the first place.

Of course, BOTH could be bad at the same time so just be sure this is the whole fix for your power/charging problem first.

One big item to consider is something I found while searching the problem on the Internet;

Some Dell notebooks are programmed to detect when a non-Dell power adapter is used, and will restrict the ability of third-party adapters to charge the battery but still supply power to keep it running. There may very well be various combinations of trouble if Dell has tried to defeat owners when they try to bypass Dells high prices.

Can be the same with replacement battery packs also, Dell uses "Smart" packs that have their own electronics in them in order to try and keep all sales in house. Mixed results from people who try to buy and use outside sources.

Try not to drop your adapter, that COULD also lead to some problems you are reading in many reviews... knock out one little component and you stop electrical output.

Keep your power adapter as cool as you can. Do not pile things on top of it, or let it slip under furniture etc. Also, realize that if you have it on a rug or carpet, it can not cool as well as it would on the desk or bare floor.

Do know though that even the expensive power adapters can and will get hot to the touch when they are working to full output, so some of the cheaper made units with lower end materials used for the case and cords could get too hot and fail. If it's the cable or plug, it will short out after it melts enough to let the wires make contact with each other.

I can only wonder how many reported problems are because of cord/wire failures rather than the power converter itself. Would be interesting to know how many of the problem units always get their cords wrapped around them for transport or storage. I for one do not wrap the cords as that can weaken them where they attach to the unit.

Too bad that reviewers don't always say which seller they bought from when they say "junk" or "great item" at least there would be a chance to weed out the worst units from same suppliers and come up with some kind of list of best place and unit to buy.

If you are worried, you could try one in the next higher priced adapter/chargers which is about three to four times this price... but still much less than OEM from the notebook Mfg.

For example;OEM Dell Ac Adapter Laptop Charger for Dell INSPIRON ,Dell XPS ,Dell Studio, Dell Latitude ,Dell Vostro, P/N PA-10 PA10 90w 90 watt Genuine/Original/OEM Portable Charger for Laptop Notebook Computer Battery Charger Power Supply Cord Plug

After that, you can still step up to a more expensive universal adapter like the one from Targus for example;Targus Premium Laptop Charger (AC/DC) APM69US (Piano Black)

Update 8/27/2010

Our two units are still working just fine and we have had no problems at all. Coming up on the next time period where some have had failures so will be watching for trouble and will report any here when it happens. - Notebook Power Adapters - Laptop Charger - Laptop Power Adapters - Dell Replacement Ac Adapter'

Led Lcd - 1080p lcd hdtv, 26 inch

Admittedly, I am not a television connoisseur. However, I can say that this is a fantastic product for the price. The sound leaves a bit to be desired (as expected), but the picture is clean and crisp. The settings menu is great, too. There are preset settings for everything from Movies to Baseball to Golf. The unit is super thin and very light, as well. For an inexpensive 1080p LED-lit LCD TV of this size, you can't beat this unit. VIZIO E260VP 26 Inch Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV

I hooked this badboy up as soon as it arrived at the door. The clarity is phenomenal as well as the new technology aspect where the screen is backlit by LED's. This improves watching videos in the dark. I've hooked this up to my computer as a monitor and the clarity youtube videos produce are unheard of... But NOTE!!! If you plan on using this as a monitor for your computer, make sure your video card can produce 1080p. Where if you dont have a higher end video card, the monitor might be able to produce your 1080p but your computer may not. (Now a days a decent video card with PCI Express CardBuss is about $50) All in all excellent choice for the price. A+++

I have been an avid Samsung fan but found something intriguing about the Vizio when I did my comparison. I decided to give it a shot with a 26inch. I am so happy I made that choice. The TV was so easy to set up and was ready to go in minutes. I was so impressed with the clarity of the picture and the sound. If I have one less than perfect reaction it would be for the remote. The layout is not the greatest and the buttons are tiny.

While looking for a small yet reliable LED TV, I first bought the Samsung UN22D5003 which resulted in a piece of crap for image and sound. Then I decided to return it and give a chance to Vizio with the E260VP model. In order to be brief:Pros:

The best angle view I have ever seen.

Excellent quality of image.

Image controls are pretty accurate.

It has lots of input and output connections.

It integrates automatically with other Vizio devices.

It is made of high quality materials.

Light and thin.Cons:

Its sound is very good for being a small TV but if you wish to have a full experience, buy a home theater. At the end I would say this TV is a must if you are looking for a small to medium size LED TV.

This television does have the bells and whistles if you have a home entertainment system. Otherwise - not so much. The internal speakers are awful. The sound is hollow and tinny and the audio adjustments seem to have no effect on the internal speakers whatsoever. I do not have the space, nor the finances to buy into a home enertainment system or even the basic surround sound speakers. At least the picture quality is good.

Bought this TV after searching Amazon for a good long while for a fair balance between quality and price. I saw quite a few decent deals, but this one seemed to take the cake. A 26-inch 1080p LED LCD for just $300? I thought it was too good to be true, but I saw the positive reviews and got a recommendation from a friend who uses a Vizio, so I took a gamble and bought it. It came in two days (even though I selected SuperSaver 5-8 day shipping), so that was a pleasant surprise. Installation was easy as pie, and once I had an HD receiver installed, the quality of video was absolutely incredible, with a load of options and none of the distracting motion blur or audio/video desync that plague a lot of cheaper HD sets. The built-in speakers aren't too bad, either. It also has 2 HDMI ports as well as component inputs, so my Playstation 3 and Wii are both hooked up in happy unison. If you're looking for a decent-sized HDTV to put in your bedroom, or even for a smaller living room, there is nothing better out there. You will not be disappointed with this HDTV.

Pros:Beautifully packaged in cardboardEasy to set upGood assortment of input types, including two HDMITremendous picture, even on non-HD channels from our

Dish Network receiver which only offers a few HD channelsCons:The remote is not particularly well designed (some of the buttons

are tiny) but as our Dish remote learned the commands for the Vizio

remote, this is a minor issueCan't comment on the audio as we use a receiver and have never used the internal

speakersSummary:Highly recommended - 26 Inch Hdtv - Hdtv - 1080p Lcd Hdtv - 26 Inch'

Canoeing - inflatable boat, 6 person inflatable boat

I bought this boat a few months ago, to hit the local lakes and reservoirs, where they dont allow large boats, much less powered boats, other than electric.

I also bought the boat boot, a mini-kota electric motor, and of-course a deep cycle marine battery.

First day out, perfect, inflated easily although, with the boot on, it is alittle of a challenge. We fished all day on it, and within a few minutes in the water, we were landing bass. Now we fish in these lakes throughout the summer, in our kayak, but we cant with our boat, cause its too large.

The sevylor is perfect, I did buy an extra large duffle bag to store it in, it inflates easily with an electric pump, and deflates easily as well. You do need a foot pump or high capacity double throw, hand pump to top it off, the electric pumps wont do.

Holding 6 people is a far reach, it will hold 3 comfortably, 4 tight, six?? I doubt it. maybe 6 children, but I weigh 210, my 2 sons weigh 165 each, and we were comfortable.

The seats are pretty cool, I would recommend the boat boot, it adds extra protection.

Bottom line, its a great boat, for that lake, reservoir. You need a "good electric pump, plus a hand pump, the boot, a motor and a battery as well as the motor mount and a large duffle bag, cause you are not going to get it back in the box..... Sevylor Fish Hunter Inflatable 6-Person Boat

This boat is ok, but it's not as wide as you would think for being 12 feet long. It's not wide enough for 2 adults to sit side by side, if you are facing straight ahead. Probably not even 2 kids. Sorry to say I just sold mine on craigslist. I recently just bought the intex excursion 4 for a hundred bucks delivered and it's much more comfortable having really wide air cushion seats that actually have a back. It seems much wider than the fish hunter and I like that I can sit side by side with someone and still have room to stretch my legs. I think either the excursion 4 or 5 would be your most comfortable inflatable boat compared to the fish hunter. On top of that, the oars are included with the excursion! Cheers!

this is a very good boat for the price. its easy to inflate and set up and seems to be well built. plus it will take an electric or small gas motor very well. great for fishing if there are only 2 or 3 of you. this boat is listed as a 6 person boat. but i would call it more like 2 adults and 3 small children or maybe 2 adults and 2 midgets. you could not fit 6 people in here sitting sideways. plus the battery holding bag it came with is very flimsy and tore when i tried to put a battery in it. This is still an exceptional boat for the price. it is not professional grade thickness pvc or rubber but still strong and seems to hold up real well. when in line to purchase my motor for this boat, a min-toka endura 34lb, wich is what i would recommend, the guy behind me in line told me about how he and his buddies took this boat all the way down the snake river rapids without a hitch. good boat. buy it.

i bought the sevylor fish hunter hf360 about two weeks ago and it is strong and durable i have been all down the river in this boat and hit rocks and everything you can think of in it and it never leaked any air at all it is a great boat but u can not fit six people in there you can have three people and a cooler and all the gear you need i built a motor mount for it and got a deep cycle battery and minn kota endura 30lb thrust trolling motor it works great i would say it is well worth the money buy it u wont be dissapointed

update ive had this boat 3 weeks now and it is still great it's holding up very well still dosent leak any air have not had to patch it or anything it is a very durable boat i wasnt putting enough air in it at first then i found out air it up with a battery pump first then finish it off with the hand pump and its alot stronger and floats shallower also im 6 ft 4 in and 315 lbs i can sit on the back of it and run my trolling motor with no problem its worth every penny

We have had ours for about 6 years and find it great for our two person fishing trips. We can stretch out with

all of our gear. Our older model DOES have the threaded valves. Common sense should keep one from punctures;

do not glide over sharp objects/rocks. Do see FH 360 mods on google or videos for some interesting modifications

that can be done; seats, floors, shade tops, etc.

It houses the large motor mount and it went on with no trouble. We picked up a Minntoka motor on Craigs and purchased

a smaller "wheelchair" battery at a local battery shop. The battery fits into the protective boat pouch perfectly and weighs far less than the conventional marine batteries. (about $65 for the top of the line model)

We place a styrofoam-type mat on the boat's floor when we bring the dogs along...good fun, good fishing.

Overall a good boat. I had previously purchased a "3 man" boat", so I was caught off guard when this boat didn't come with oars or a pump - fortunately I wasn't far from home when I discovered this. I haven't had an issue - yet - but I worry about the "drains" in the bottom of the boat. Seems to me having a predesigned hole in the bottom, even if it has a plug could only lead to problems on the water, and doesn't make up for the convienence for draining when on land.

The most important thing to know about any of these boats is that the word "man" in the description must mean someone who is less than 2' tall. My family (wife & 2 young kids) fit in this boat if the kids sit on our legs. (In the "3 man" boat, with my back at one end, my feet touched the other and I'm 5'10"). I do wish that the fishing pole mounts were removable.

I purchased this boat for leisurely cruises down a local river. Although our river is relatively tame, I opted for this boat because it is a lot thicker than other boats available. I didn't want to spend extra money for one made out of denier. I've taken it out twice and have been pretty happy with it. A friend of mine had this same boat but an earlier version. I really like the way it was put together. Although I've heard a lot of negative comments about the new valves on this boat, I haven't experienced any of it. But being leery of valves popping open, I placed a strip of duct tape over every valve. I'm not sure if they would have popped open without the duct tape, I'm just not ready to risk it. So far, I've taken two adults and three kids on the two voyages and have had plenty of room for a cooler and several squirt guns.Oh and the coleman AC pump works great on this. I can blow it up inside of 10 minutes. - Inflatable Boat - Fishing - Sevylor - 6 Person Inflatable Boat'

Perry Ellis

I am taking one star off because it didn't come in a good condition because of the packaging. Normally its not the case with Amazon, but I guess there's an exception. I didn't return it, but was disappointed with the marks on the bottle.

Speaking about the perfume, it's yet again a nice perfume by Perry Ellis designer house. Perry Ellis 18 for women has a soft feminine feeling with a fruity twist.

Top notes :raspberry mojito & frozen pear.

Mid notes :nymphea & pink orchid.

Base notes :vanilla & sandalwood.

If you don't like the fruity smell, don't worry. You can hardly notice the fruity touch to it. It only enhances the floral smell it has to it all over. Most of my perfumes are floral always (Versace bright crystal etc) but I can say that this one is not just another floral perfume. It does stand out and has its own uniqueness.

Cd Player - cd player, portable cd players

I can't believe the negative reviews of this. It is what it is - an inexpensive portable. Sure, if you jack up the sound all the way, it will distort. It doesn't have expensive components that give you additional bass because they are not putting expensive speakers in an item that is supposed to be cheap.

For what it's worth, it's 10 times better quality than GPX was just 10 years ago. It fits the bill perfectly for a portable to drag around the house or set up in the office. The MP3 line-in works great - no annoying hum or static. It picks up stations better than my Sony portable - at least on FM. The digital readout on the analog tuner works great and I am noticing no drift. Just like Kaito, the Chinese produced radios are getting better and better. Mine is replacing an Emerson (who used to have good quality) that has basically fallen apart before my eyes in just two years.

If you want something perfect, pay more money. If you don't get hung up on expecting everything for a low price and you want to save some money and get a decent radio, this is the way to go. GPX Portable CD Player with AM/FM Radio, Line in for MP3 Devices and Remote Control (Black)

The sound quality is complete crap. There is absolutely NO bass and when you try to turn up the volume the speakers crackle and cut out. I was excited about this radio because it is mp3 ready and came with the jack to connect my mp3 player. When I connected my mp3 player I was shocked to discover that the sound quality could get even worse than it already was. I actually like the design and I guess since I will be using it in my office at low volume it will serve its purpose, but I still wish I wouldnt have wasted what little money this costs.

I see amazon has since changed the display picture, when i ordered it they had something completly different, cause if i knew it looked like this I would have never bought it. Anyway, the sound quality is bad, it's sounds like an old transistor radio especially when the sound is turned up. I can never get any radio reception on it so I guess it's not good in that regard either. I had to end up giving this to my 3 yr old son to play his cd's and buy a better one, i cause for that price i should not have expected much.

I bought this cd player to play a white niose cd for my baby. It works just fine for that. However, when playing a music cd the soung quality is not great. But it's about what I expected for the price.

I bought this because it would fit on the shelf space available in my house and it would take input from an MP3 player.

I discovered that

a) the sound quality is poor, even compared to other "cheap" players. I usually can't tell any difference between good and bad players, but even I could hear how tinny the music sounded.

b) any sort of vibration will make the player skip or throw up an error and stop working -- like even heavy walking in the next room sometimes.

c) it lasted just over a year and then it stopped playing CDs (which was what I primarily used it for). My old "cheap" player lasted 8 years before dying, so this was pretty pathetic in comparison.

So unless you only need this for the short term and don't care about sound... AVOID IT. There are much better players out there for the same price.

My two year old son loves to play music and I've been going through CD players trying to find one that didn't eat batteries for breakfast (naturally I don't want to use the AC power cord for a toddler's toy). I also wanted something generally kid friendly (easy to take CD in and out, not too heavy, not too complicated, good build quality). This player fit the bill perfectly. Not that it last very long on batteries but I get 2-3 days on six rechargeable C-cell batteries vs. 8-12 hour on the two previous CD players. The sound quality isn't very good and I can't imagine an adult would want to use this for music.

I thought at least the cd sound would be balanced. Nope. Very high on treble, and the remote that comes with it, does not adjust volume...just backwards and forwards for song selection. Looks nice...sounds yucky,

This is a pretty basic unit. The finish is not wonderful. The remote only works for the CD. There are no presets on the radio. There is a headphone jack and a line in for other devices. My cellphone (Blackberry) plays fine through it. It has a cord for connecting an external device but no headphones. It uses 6 C cells or AC for power and the remote takes two AAA cells. It will work for me since I was wanting an inexpensive unit to tote around and probably get beat up.

I couldn't give a better rating on the battery life as I have mine plugged in. I wanted something in the kitchen so I could play back my mp3 player and this works like a charm. Very glad I purchased it. I would recommend to all my friends. - Portable Radio - Portable Cd Players - Cd Player - Portable Cd Player'

I'm not rating the replacement blades I bought, I'm rating the originals. I bought replacements because I figured I'd need them soon. I was wrong. The originals just keep going and going. I'm impressed! The replacements, which are Makita brand are exactly the same as the originals. Makita 793346-8 Planer Blade for Model 2012 and 2012NB

Check your blades. This goes for all brands of planers. The dullness factor creeps in ever so slowly and you may not be aware that your blades are too dull. I felt the old blades and they seemed sharp, but the normally fairly quiet Makita seemed too loud and the boards were not sliding smoothly through.

The new blades were obviously much sharper and things went back to normal once installed. The Amazon price was the lowest I saw and they arrived quickly, although strangely packed in a big torn-up box.

So, don't be cheap. Be proactive and replace those blades. You spent a lot of money on the machine, so keep it working well. Same goes for bandsaw blades (same basic experience), saw blades, etc. It is an expensive hobby for some and a business expense that can't be circumvented for others.

I've used these blades for kiln dried oak, walnut, cherry and some poplar and pine. None of these present real challenges in terms of wear on the blade or tear out in the wood, but the blades last a long time and give an excellent finish for me.

Hey, its a planer blade. The planer is the the important item. I plane a lot of hard woods, including teak (very, very tough on blades due to the silica content) and these blades seem to last reasoanbly well.

This is a great system for changing blades, No settings just follow instructions, knives stay very sharp and long lasting. I just planned 100 Board feet of black Walnut and still ready for more use. The only time I changed blades is I gave it a nail to eat.

This planer is just great. Haven't actually used the replacement blades yet but have no reason to believe that they would be any less effective than the originals. I've already planed nearly 500 ft of cedar and even though it's a very soft wood, the blades are just like new!

Please Call 1-800-462-5482 {1-800-4MAKITA} choose option for English or Spanish, Then choose 4 for parts, then choose language again, (Tech Support is on a different system) and we will get blades to you usually within a week. The hours are 8am to 8pm Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

Samsung Captivate - car charger, car chargers

Captivate Car Charger / B003WNYMX8

I bought this for use with my Samsung Captivate. The connection to the phone works fine. Nice and snug, with no problems either connecting or un-connecting. The connection to the car dock works well enough - the fit is just a little bit loose and can "shake free" on bumpy car rides; fortunately, the charger has a light that goes out when the connection is lost, so it's easy to notice and fix if the charger does shake loose. The retractable cord is nice, although you do have to coax the last inch or two to retract - I guess they didn't want the connector to smack violently into the charger each time you retract.

The charger itself seems to work well enough, but it definitely doesn't put out the same level of juice that you'll get from your wall charger. With the phone screen on and speaker phone going, the charger just barely manages to keep the battery level steady - I would imagine that heavy usage of the phone (music, video, etc. while driving) would be too much for the charger to handle. Still, I purchased the charger to help take the edge off the daily drain on my phone, so this charger works sufficiently well for my needs.

~ Ana Mardoll Retractable Car Charger for Samsung Captivate (Includes OrionGadgets Cleaning Cloth)

I took a gamble and purchased this item as it is very cheap ...only to realise that it is not working.....

the design is flawed and rattles when plugged to a car outlet...

checked this when the car is stationary and found that a constant loose connection is happening and my phone lights up saying it started charging...next second it stop charging...again lights up....this charger can screw up any smartphone battery in minutes ....

DONT BUY !!

Update : The company contacted me via e-mail and send me a new car charger absolutely free of cost.... and it works well so i'm happy and changing "Dont buy" to "Buy"

This is very convenient. It is nice and compact and the cord does not get tangled up with any of my other cable devices in the car.

Only thing is that sometimes I have to remove my cell phone cover in order to connect the cable.

It works just fine; however, the cable's insulation is pulling away from the connector, leaving the wires exposed. I'm going to have to put on some heat-shrink tubing or something to cover it. Overall, it's worth the price, but it would have been nice to not see this problem so soon after purchase.

I ordered a retractable phone charger to keep in my car, for my new Samsung Captivate purchased on amazon.com. The charger is great, and keeps the cord from being tangled while not in use and when I unplug it for storage. It was very reasonably priced and has worked great over past 3 months.

I just received my Samsung Captivate retractable car charger. It works incredibly well! I didn't think much of it because it was a brand that I was not familiar with, but it was cheap and I needed one bad because the battery on the Captivate doesn't last more than a day. When I plugged into the outlet in my car a small blue light lit up to let me know it was receiving power. You pull the charging cord out to plug it into your cellphone. I actually found it easier to connect it to my phone than the charger I received from AT&T, it's really nice if you find yourself driving often and could really use that supplemental power for a battery draining smart phone like this one. When you're done charging the phone there's a button that you push to retract the cord, it retracts the cord quickly and smoothly so you don't have cords laying all over your car. Because of the retractable cord it doesn't take up much space in your glove compartment or center console.

It never worked right from the first day. It did not fit tight in the car outlet and would work loose while driving and would not charge the phone. The retractable cord did not retract all the way and it finally stopped charging totally. I threw it in the trash and started all over again.

This charger was cheap, and so I was willing to give it a shot. It would probably work fine except that the connector doesn't make good contact with the jack on my phone. So, I need to go find a better quality one, cuz this one won't work for me.

I bought 2 of these because they were just too inexpensive and i could put one in my car and truck both. It works as described, the retractable cord functions as it should. No cord laying around to get tangled amoungst your other cords when not being used! I should have bought 2 more while I was purchasing... - Car Charger - Low Quality - Car Chargers - Captivate'
