Bath Accessories

I can't see many people getting excited over a soap dish, but I have always been impressed with any of the 3M command products. The soap dish is the best one I have tried yet. It is easy to clean when it gets all gummed up with soap and can be detached from the wall of your shower to clean around the plate.

The only warning I have is that when removing the dish for cleaning, be gentle. While the plate will not come off the wall if you're using a crowbar, the plastic tabs on the plate that support the soap dish can break. If you break one, you can still use the dish...you break both...you've got to buy another ;) Command 17602B Soap Dish, Water-Resistant Strips, 1 Dish 1 Strip

When I went to take my first shower in my new home, I was dismayed that the shower didn't have a spot to put the soap. Well technically it did, but it's like a few inches from the bottom of the tub. Convenient when you're bathing, but not exactly convenient when you're showering, unless of course you are Inspector Gadget **go-go-gadget arms*

So off I went in pursuit of a soap dish. I tried a few different styles and makes, none of which worked. They all fell off right away, some fell off even before I put the soap on them. They must have been tested really well ~sheesh.

Finally I came across the 3M Command soap dish, and I thought I would give it a try. I held my breath when I put it on, waiting for it to fall off right away, but it stayed put. I then loaded it with soap, and still it stayed put. I had a few showers, and I was in awe that it stayed put even when wet. I think it has been a few years since I installed it, and it is still firmly in place. It's magnificent! I love that it has slots in the bottom for the water to drain so your soap doesn't get yucky. Also, it is very easy to remove. You don't have to ruin your shower wall or the soap dish. How do I know that it's easy to remove? Well, I didn't like where I put it in the beginning and decided to move it - piece of cake!

I love all 3M Command products that I've used. They really know their stuff!

This is a great soap dish. Inexpensive, holds on to the wall, the soap stays in the dish, not bad to look at, and best of all I can take it off the wall and throw it in the dishwasher when it gets grimy. A+ product

A good addition to your tub or shower. Easy to stick most anywhere and it stays stuck without marring your tub/shower enclosure. The stick strips are really nice because of the unusual method of removal. Pulling them straight down and they pop off. Easy to remove the dish for cleaning without removing the mount as well. 3M has a bunch of other devices using the same method of fastening without making holes or using tools.

Finally, a soap dish that sticks to the tile in the shower and stays on...even when you put a bar of soap in it. I was so tired of the suction cup ones that constantly slid down the wall or fell off. The 3M Command products are great!

I was a little skeptical about this holding because my shower has tiny little tiles and lots of grout lines, but it works like a charm. Suction devices are useless in my baths, but Command definitely comes to the rescue with this soap dish. It's also very unobtrusive. It does everything the manufacturer claims it will. I would, though, be scrupulous in following their cleaning and installation directions to the letter.

I travel a lot on business, and usually pack a portable soap dish. The suction ones are ok, but don't work when my hotel's shower enclosure is too porous. This one is awesome, and works on every surface I've tried so far. Be sure to purchase some extra strips, though, if you want it for mobility.

I've had one for over a year now, I moved and forgot to bring it with me on the move. So I ordered a new one. I hate the suction cup devices, they never stay in place. These 3M Command bath strips hold perfectly, and I never have to worry about them falling or anything. I have mine on a kind of medium textured tile, and it holds great. I love how you can take the dish off and put in the dishwasher.

Would recommend to anyone who uses bar soap.'

Anaconda - electronic lock, lock

My wife and I loved this lock... until it rained. Then it stops working. And it's not like other electronics I've had: wait till it dries and it'll start working again. No, this one gets wet, it dies. I contacted the company and they said it wasn't waterproof. They did replace it tho. This time I created a little shield around it to protect it from the rain. It lasted a lot longer, but eventually it died from the rain too.

So, great idea, great product, just don't let the rain hit it. Electronic Keyless Deadbolt System - Bright Brass, #414

When I bought my house, this system was already installed. However, the previous homeowner did not have the door code nor instructions. So, I bought one to replace it in 2004. I installed it with no problems...and I am the LEAST handy person that I know.

Now, in 2010, after I replaced the batteries, the lock would still quickly beep 3 times, when my son pressed the locked key button indicating that the batteries needed replacing. After about a week, same thing. So, I figured the unit needed replacing. I read comments about this product on the internet. One person said that it was not meant to last. I figure that it lasted for 6 years with no problems. So, if it's life expectancy is 6 years, I'm ok with it. Mine is behind a storm door, so no worries about rain.

I use Rayovac batteries, because I think that they last longer than Eveready Energizer batteries. I changed the batteries 3 times in 6 years, with the exception of the last time, indicating that the unit needed replacing.

I love that it is easy to install (my holes were already drilled, but a template is provided). I love that I could figure out that with this new unit that I had to switch the thingy from 2-3/8" to 2-3/4 to center it, with no problems. I love that it has two programmable codes, which can be changed easily. I love that I didn't have to worry that my then 7-yr old would lose house keys. I love that it will beep 3 times quickly when it is time to change the batteries or when the lock is not set. My son didn't pay any attention to the loud beeping, when he left. But, I heard it. I love that it is inexpensive.

This is a great lock at an affordable price! The kids don't like to carry keys and this way they do not have to. Multiple codes from 4-12 digits. Be sure the locking mechanism is free of obstruction when installed.

I bouhgt two of these lock sets, and both are no good. The first one had a bunch of tiny springs laying in the bottom of the box. These are part of the locking

mechanism that fell apart. I gave up on this one and packed it back up.

When I opened the second one and was installing it, I could not get the screws started that hold this in the door, and the lock set together.

Upon examination, I noticed that there were no threads for the screws. Buying two sets and 100% defective on both sets, I don't thimk I want to use these to lock up my house.

I have three of these - one on each door of my house. I've had them for 5 years, the latest has the deadbolt cover plate, the others are as pictured. All but one are behind a storm door, but all are holding up fine.

The idea of carrying keys to my house is completely alien to me at this point.

It's really very simple - they work, and I don't have to carry keys. Regular batteries last 1-2 years in my use, and you know that it's time to change them when you hear it struggle to open the lock - you have a few weeks at that point. Lithium AA's seem to last indefinitely.

You can set two codes (I give the cleaning people a temporary code so I don't compromise mine). The lockout feature is a little annoying - enter the wrong code three times and it will shut down for a while, leaving you standing outside. It's good for security, and in my case I have another door to try if I screw it up.

The screws that secure the exterior keypad rust easily, especially if you scratched them with an electric drill while screwing them in. Rust-proof screws are readily available should this happen and become a concern.

To me, the benefits of this lock are tremendous. I'd love to have something similar for my car and even RV - but that's a whole other body of research.

I've used push button locks for twenty years. I started when my kids were small and constantly were forgetting or losing their keys.

This unit is probably my third. I tried a thumbprint keylock, but couldn't get it to work reliably.

When I installed a new entry door, I need two locks. For the main doorknob, I just used a standard lever lockset. This unit is for the deadbolt.

It installed easily, programmed easily and after a year looks as good as new- no discoloration or wear of the finish is evident. I've not had to replace the batteries as yet.

i'm quite satisfied.

I purchased 5 of these locks and four of them broke within 2 years. Even if you call the company that makes the lock "Anaconda" (I got their phone number off the internet) they will admit that their lock wasn't made to last. The problem is not the electrical part, it's the mechanical part. So in other words "wear and tear" should make the lock break. All four of my locks broke from the same part.

However, they are really good as in giving you a replacement during the warranty period. (You still have to pay for shipping.) However, what use is a replacement when it will break again soon anyway. The good thing about this lock is even if the keyless feature breaks, you can still use keys and it will work like a normal lock. The guy at Anaconda did try to sell me a whole different lock that doesn't use batteries. He stated the newer, no battery lock they have was made to last a very long time.

I ordered this on Amazon.com. Arrived in very good time. Easy to install. Saves frustration of having to insert a key in a darkened area. Even though it is a secondary entrance I find myself using it now as the primary. So convenient. - Dead Bolts - Anaconda - Lock - Electronic Lock'

Video Games

This is a great game to play. Taking place shortly after the Clone Wars begin, Anakin is sent out on a solo mission to find out what a informant was trying to tell the Jedi Council before she disappeared. This game is the first GBA game that actually has its own story, which is a great improvement over the last two like the movie-based Attack of the Clones and the PS1-based Jedi Power Battles. I'm not saying their bad games. The only flaw is that it is a little short, but that didn't stop my enjoyment. With the exception of not playing Jedi Power Battles, this is the best GBA Star Wars game I've played so far. The great part is getting back at Count Dooku for severing Anakin's arm. I highly, highly, highly reccomend getting this game. Star Wars Episode II: The new Droid Army

Another down-the-drain Star Wars game for the GBA? Far from it! To my surprise, this game manages to catch the intense atmosphere of the Star Wars movies really, really good. The backgrounds are beautiful to look at, the animations smooth and the music a pleasure to listen to. What`s best about it though, are the tight controls, that allow you to easily pull of lots of cool moves to strike your enemies, evade them or deflect their blasters bolts. On top of that, you have a bunch of force abilities that add a little more depth to the game (and are fun to play around with :)All in all, I'd recommend this game not only to Star Wars fans. It's just a really good action game.

I played the other Star Wars game when the movie came out, but this game is really impressive. It's really fun to deflect laser blaster bolts with the lightsaber. The backgrounds are really colorful and the animations are really smooth.I have no idea what the other reviewer was thinking. Perhaps he was confusing it with the other game, which was a sidescroller. This is an isometric game with 3D polygonal characters and loads of cool special effects.

It was an exciting game, a little easy, but, it has great replay value. I've beat it three times, and it's awesome each time. This was always a great game. A little difficult the first try, but it's got great replay value. I always thought of it as a good Game Boy game, as it was my first and only GBA game. I stick to GameCube, now. Harder, funner. Well, adiós.

The game was pretty cool. The graphics are great and the sound is awesome! The game is addictive and once you beat it,You want more. This is an ideal first game. You get cool force powers like "push" to send your enemies rocketing to the ground,"hide"to sneak around unsuspecting enemies, and "meditation"to restoreyour health and force power. This game makes you feel like a real jedi!

I recently got the game Star Wars the New Droid Army, and it is one of the best games I own, if not THE greatest. The main reasons I like this game are the graphics- which look almost like a computer game, and its stunning speed- This game is very fast- alot faster than any other Game boy game I've played before. And you meet tons of charectures from the movies, like Watto, Yoda, Mace Windu, and Count Dooku. And they also have short movies in the game to keep thing interesting- Even the original opening narrative. Plus you get to go to 3 different worlds and encounter tons of new enemies. If your unsure about the game, rent it.

This is just a great game. You are Anakin Skywalker, and the time is just after the movie Attack of the Clones. You are on a mission to find out about a new type of Battle Droid being manufactered by Count Dooku. Pros: Lightsaber battles at the end of each level. many different enemies. Deflect laser fire back at opponent. Go to differt planets. Choose between Padawan, Knight, or Master levels. Learn new force abilities like Jump, Push, Speed, Meditate, and Hide. Use different lightsaber moves. Really good graphics. Mini-movies every once in a while. The game even starts with the dissapearing gold letters going into the backround like in the movies. Cons: Some parts you just walk around alot. You need passwords to save. You can finish it in only a few days if you're good enough. Summary: Overall this game is awesome and I reccomend it to anyone who has a Gameboy Advance.

ya it was a okay game but it was so easy on all levels.!!!!!!let me give you a hint on facing count.d.dont use force power on him use the spin attack on him strate on dont move away or his lightning will stike!!!!

This game lets you do lightsaber fighting like a real jedi master. You can pull off all these great likesaber move, you can deflect incoming laser bolts, and use force powers. It was so great I only wish it was longer. I finished it in 3 days! But I played like all the time. I'm going to try it on master mode next. The grafix are AWSOME. You have to get it.

If you love star wars, your going to love this game. It's like jedi power battles(whichn is another awsome game) lightsabers and all. Your Anikin Skywalker goin through level through level with just a lightsaber. You can deflect laser attacks and use the force. Even you get a chance to avenge yourarm cut of by Count Dookou. Ignore the person who gave that nastey review. Take it from my advice, BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!'

Emergency Food - emergency food, survival kit

To be clear: It costs approx $12 or so for ONE bar! In the product description it states that a case contains 30 bars, making one think that they might be buying a case. Also the PICTURE NEXT TO THE PRICE AND TITLE OF THE PRODUCT has THREE bars in the picture, leading one to believe you are buying multiple bars with this price. In fact, you are paying for just ONE bar! Each ONE bar can be eaten over 3 days. There are NOT 3 bars per order, as is possibly suggested by the THREE BARS in the picture. I wish they were more clear, but learn from my review!!! HAPPY CAMPING! Datrex 2400 Emergency Food Bar - 3 Day/72 Hour Bar

Here are the possible sources of food during an emergency. You should decide for yourself what is most reliable and cost effective. A normal person needs about 2,000 calories per day, and someone who is exerting themselves (eg, survival, search, and rescue operations) may need 3,000 - 4,000 calories per day.

1. The regular canned food in your pantry. Regular canned food, such as Hormel Chili, is cheap, tasty, easy to get, and will last a very long time. It's manufactured from reliable sources. You can buy what you would normally eat, and nothing will go to waste if you rotate your stock. Additionally, most canned food is packed in WATER, so you get a safe supply of fresh water with each meal. Almost all canned food is cooked as part of the canning process, so you normally can eat it straight from the can (without heating). Canned food also has a shelf life far beyond MREs or Emergency Rations (for example, according to Hormel, "the shelf life of [canned Hormel Chili] is indefinite as long as the seal remains intact", although the flavor may decrease). COST PER 2,000 CALORIES: about $2 - 6.

2. MREs. MREs are hard to get (due to ongoing military and recent civilian needs) and relatively expensive (between $6 - 8 per meal). Each MRE contains about 1200 calories and is relatively tasty. They also contain vital ingredients you need during heavy exercise (search and rescue ops), such as salt. Despite some claims by competitors, you DO NOT require water to eat an MRE. Only a small, non-essential portion of the meal requires water (the drink mixes). MREs will last 5 years only if stored at less than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. At 60 degrees, the shelf life is 4 years, and at 80 degrees, the shelf life is 3 years. At 100 degrees, the shelf life is only 6 months. COST PER 2,000 CALORIES: about $10 - 14.

3. Energy bars. Energy bars, such as Clif Bars or PowerBars are carbohydrate laden and sugar laden supplements that are intended to give you a boost after exercise and not intended to be real food. They are inexpensive (about $1.50 for 240 calories) but have a very short shelf life. Also, they normally lack fiber. You'll want some dietary fiber in a sustained emergency. COST PER 2,000 CALORIES: N/A - these are not meal replacements.

4. Emergency ration bars. Ration bars, such as Datrex or Mainstay, are relatively light weight and are able to accept temperature changes. However, they are moderately expensive. It is difficult to assess the nutritional facts about Datrex bars, because I have not seen the complete Nutrition Facts even though I've search for them. They appear to be flour, water, sugar, and fat, although there is no indication of how much of the carbohydrates are simple sugars vs. fiber (see above about Energy Bars, such as PowerBars). Additionally, although a 2400 calorie bar may keep you alive for 3 days, that's only 800 calories per day. If you have to rely on these bars for an extended time, 800 calories per day is not sufficient to sustain heavy activity, such as survival, search and rescue activities. Since you are not likely to eat these for the taste, after 5 years you'll throw these away and need to buy replacements - a real waste. Nevertheless, these bars definitely have their place in a go bag, in order to sustain you until you get to your main food supply (eg, your pantry). COST PER 2,000 CALORIES: about $7.

5. Dried fruits and nuts. Dried fruit is very expensive, full of sugar, and may be treated with preservatives. I know a lot of people who have had reactions to eating dried fruit (eg, skin flush, nausea), and that's something you don't want in an emergency. Nuts are great sources of calories and delicious, but a lot of people have life-threatening allergies to nuts - and even people who have never had allergies can develop them suddenly. Nuts are not a good source of carbohydrates. Additionally, even canned or sealed nuts have very short shelf lives (between 6 - 18 months, max, according to Planters' website). COST PER 2,000 CALORIES: about $14 - 20 for fruit, and about $8 for nuts.

Only you can decide what you will need and what is best for you. I have a lot of pantry food, with some MREs and emergency ration bars for the go packs and car.

I bought some of these and some of the Mainstay bars. As people noted for the Mainstays, these are emergency rations that are meant to keep you going on a short term basis when the alternative is eating dirt, and they're made for long shelf life and compact footprint - as you'd expect given that, they are not great for you. To keep them shelf stable and to achieve the calorie density that you need to keep them small, they have a lot of oil, and as a result are high in fat (about 110 grams in 2400 calories of bars, which is actually less than the Mainstays wih about 138 for the same calorie size) and relatively lacking in nutrition, pretty much no vitamins other than some B vitamins. They also have 36 grams of protein, which is probably good given the size of the package, but not a lot for an active person. The Mainstays, by comparison, have more nutrients (basically an added multivitamin) but even less protein - 18 grams. I'm sure these alone would keep you going, but they're probably best as an extender to a small emergency supply of bigger, less shelf stable food like canned tuna, canned beans or hash/stew like mentioned by the other reviewer. A couple of boxes of these with a six pack of tuna and a six pack of beans would keep you going pretty well for a week in a box not much bigger than a shoe box.

As for the expirations, it's really a crapshoot depending on who you get them from. The Datrex bars that I bought were manufactured last month and so have a full 5 year lifespan. The Mainstays were manufactured 10 months ago and so have just over 4 years...

I haven't tried these and so can't comment on their taste, but as the other reviewer said, coconut is a main ingredient. - Emergency Preparedness - Survival Kit - Emergency Food - Survival'

Yoga Blocks - exercise, foam blocks

These yoga blocks work as you should expect. For anyone new to yoga, a yoga block is used to help with various postures, usually by supporting the user or acting as a spacer to extend certain postures. Originally made of wood, the block must be able support much of the user's weight without compressing, deforming or slipping. The foam that these blocks are made of fits the bill perfectly, and are able to support my solid 220 pound frame without any real change in shape. In addition, the blocks are surprisingly light, even considering they're made of foam.

Every yoga block I've ever purchased has performed the same, but I personally have never seen any other foam that was formulated with the same characteristics, even considering industrial packing foam for heavy and dense objects. These were at a good price when I bought them, but if you get these or another, be sure to get yoga blocks rather than substituting. Bean Products Professional Yoga Blocks 4" x 6" x 9" 2 Pack - Blue

These blocks are the standard size (some other products are not). They have a great feel, are lightweight, sturdy and they are purple, one of my favorite colors. I am really pleased with this purchase. I looked around quite a bit before buying these and they are a great value. They do have a 'foam' smell when the plastic is first removed, but I put them on top of the air purifier for a day and they were fine after that.

These are high quality yoga blocks that seem to be the exact same ones used in P90X's "Yoga X" video. I've been using them for about a month now and they've met my needs to maintain balance during some of the yoga postures. However, the price seems a bit much for what are effectively blocks of styrofoam, even if you're getting two of them.

yup, they're yoga blocks... great CHEAP addition to my p90x equipment list. I've never used blocks for help with stretching before, but found these to be extremely helpful.

As far as the odor that other reviewers have complained about: they were shipped sealed in plastic. Odor disappeared in a day or two. The odor must be uninteresting as my dogs leave the blocks alone. Glad I didnt waste money on expensive ones, and am also very glad I bought a set as they have been very helpful for stretching in the p90x videos.

No complaints at all. The size is great. It's actually a tiny bit bigger than another pair of blocks that I have. Good, solid block, AND... can't beat the price!!! I do wish they offered more colors though.

These are standard yoga blocks (just like a previous reviewer stated) and you get two for the price of what others are selling one for.

I'm not too concerned about them breaking or tearing, as I have been putting a good amount of strain on them to extend my stretches over the past three weeks and they are holding up well.

If something changes, I'll modify my review.

I haven't have the chance to use both at the same time, I could just actually gotten just one. I saw similar yoga blocks on a sporting store for almost twice the price that I found at amazon. I am happy with these. - Foam Blocks - Yoga - Exercise - Fitness'
