I couldn't believe this was a high quality product, as the price was so low, but I took a chance as I needed something for a wedding. It arrived quickly and in perfect shape. It fits my son well, and is of good quality. No complaints! Gino Wedding Toddler Boy Formal Suit Black Size 3 / 3t (3T)'

Dvd Writer - external drive, acer

I bought 3 Acer Aspire One computers as Christmas presents this year and needed at least 1 external drive to share between them. 2 of the computers had Windows 7 Starter as the operating system ansd the other had Windows XP. The drive was basicly plug & play on the XP computer, but would not work on the Windows 7 computers at all. The disc that came with the drive had old drivers on it that didn't include Windows 7. The instruction sheet was of no use at all. There was no manufacturers name or model number on the drive, nothing I could reference any kind of a search with. I downloaded several different codec's but none would operate the drive. Fianally I called Acer for help and found out that they hadden't released any drivers for the Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter. The reason, "Windows 7 is too new, and to keep checking back with them."

The seller of the drive wasn't aware that it was not compatable with Windows 7. I gave it 3 stars overall rating because it did work fine with XP computer. I only gave it 1 star for ease of use and ease of installation because I had so much trouble with it trying to get it to work. I don't think the vender screened the product for compatibility with Windows 7. USB External CD DVD RW Burner Drive For Acer Aspire one

Ok, This is a great little CD-DVD player and burner. it does not required to install any CD it install by it self, true to the Plug and Play :D This DVD Player is able to play CD and DVD without any problems, You can view your DVD with free software like Windows Player or Real player, or with tons of freeware DVD players. It also can burn CD and DVD with free software like Windows, Itunes, Zune or any other free software. The Only bad thing is that this little monster will drain you laptop battery fast when burning a CD and DVD, it takes some power to do. Which its fine. Plus its really small and kinda hard so you can carry it with you.

I'm pleased with it, it's the best you're going to get out of USB 2.0, and it works as well as the drives twice the cost. It looks the same as the $100+ drives too.

It requires either a second USB port, or an external adapter (not included) so factor that in. It's not a criticism (it takes that much power to burn a DVD), it just may not be obvious beforehand. USB 1.x is acceptable for power, if you're using it on a machine that has both types or have a spare "charging" hub. Not surprisingly, it does not play nice with my unpowered hub -- it needs a full 500 mW to each port.

My drive was shipped with no software or drivers and it did NOT come with a DVD decoder. I installed it on an Acer Netbook with Windows XP Home Edition. Initially Windows did not recognize the drive, so I had to uninstall the device using Windows Device Manager and rebooted the computer.

Once I did that Windows successfully installed the drive and I was up and running. However I was not able to play DVDs and had to purchase a $[...] DVD decoder download to play DVDs with Windows Media Player. After that, the drive functioned normally and produced smooth video on my netbook screen. In order to burn CD's and DVD's I believe most computer users will want to buy third-party software which should be considered in the total cost. This bare-bones package includes no disks, no external power supply, no carrying case and scant documentation. More expensive drives include those extras.

To burn disks, the drive requires connections to two USB 2.0 ports to get enough power. Total travel weight of this drive with both cables is 11.6 ounces. The drive is just a fraction of an inch wider and deeper than a DVD or CD and is just thick enough for the drawer to accommodate a disk. If you're looking for one of the least expensive external DVD/CD reader/burners you can buy, this drive may be just the ticket. However if you need a complete package including movie-making software, DVD decoder, carrying case and external power supply you might want to buy a more expensive drive that includes them in a bundle. That would probably be cheaper than buying this drive and all of those other items separately.

I'm stuck using a little netbook while my desktop is in the shop. But, this little DVD reader/burner hardly makes me miss my desktop at all. It's been great for watching movies, and burning info to CDs and DVDs. It's small enough to take along for travel and road trips if need be. I have NO REGRETS at ALL with this purchase and highly recommend this product!!

I got it for my HP Mini that came with Windows 7. I plugged it in and in under a minute the pop-up said that my device was installed and ready for use.

I popped in a DVD and it wouldn't play. Yikes! one may think, but this is not the fault of the player though; I needed the codec that is easily downloaded from the internet.

The player itself gave me no issues and I would recommend it for the HP Mini w/Windows 7.

I have a netbook, so there is no optical drive. I needed to upload some software plus some music and this drive fit the bill perfectly. It worked as advertised, I plugged it on to the USB and started using it immediately.

In order to watch DVD's I did have to download a DVD decoder, it was Microsoft approved and cost $14.99. It downloaded easily and I was able to test out a few DVD's and they worked fine.

I can't comment on the burn ability, since I would use my desktop computer for that, but I found this a very inexpensive way to get software onto my netbook.

Yes, you save some bucks, some weight, and a lot of battery life by buying a Netbook over a conventional laptop or notebook. But you really need one of these drives. The good thing about getting one external burner like this is that you can bring it with you if you need it; and it can double for so many further uses. This one has no connectivity issues at all. Just plug it in, and you're working. - External Dvd Burner - External Drive - Acer - Netbook'

Shoulder Holster - leg holster, holsters

One word: CHEAP. The 'leather' is practically paper thin. Belt buckle is plastic that is painted silver so the paint will probably be chipping off by the time you get it. And let's not forget to mention, this will NOT comfortably fit a size large woman. You can buy a REAL set of holsters like this for almost the exact same price.. go with that and buy some toy guns to use with it. Mster Lock

I had this winch installed on my Kawasaki ATV along with a plow. I had to buy an additional switch control for the handle bar but it works fine.

Once I got the winch the instructions gave me a phone number to call and get the mounting bracket that matched my 4 wheeler. Simple process.

Nice product for a good price and strong brand, Master Lock. Master Lock 2955AT 1500lb Portable ATV Winch

I bought 2 and use them for opening/closing my shed doors (drawbridge-style). The good: Switch is substantial. The not-so-good: They are S-L-O-W! You'll also need a roller fairlead otherwise an off-center pull can jam the cable between the spool and body.

To make long story short I mounted this on a Suzuki Ozark 250. I was out on some NFD trails in Capital Forest west of Olympia WA. While on a ridge I went around a corner on some loose gravel and slid off the road. Luckily the ATV got hung up on some small trees or it certainly would have rolled down the ridge. I was able to pull the cable from the wench to a tree on the other side of the gravel road and slowly pull the ATV back onto the road. So am I impressed with this product? Words can not describe. If it weren't for that little wench I would have had no other way to get my ATV off the side of the ridge. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Highly recommended.'

Hanging Straps - ab exercises, hanging straps

Excellent straps..sound , strong construction..the large grommets (feel a little light though) easily fit any chin up bar..very comfortable...Met my expectations and well worth the price. Definitely a Keeper.

A slight amendment to my review..after a month of using these I found that one of the straps had a tear along the side lining.Either the piece was defective or it couldn't take my weight (all of 200 lbs).A Bit disappointing because otherwise it seemed well constructed.I live in India so returning the product is not possible now.

Edited 03/17/08 I complained to Harbinger about the problem I had with the product and to my surprise they actually went to the trouble and expense of shipping a free replacement to me all the way to India . THat is truly awesome customer service and I hope the Ab Straps do give me years of service. Harbinger 371000 Deluxe Ab Straps

These are super-heavy duty, well-constructed. Tons of stitching, I think you could lift a horse in these. The clamps are large and strong, with a sliding lock. Best ones I've ever seen. Fantastic value. Just get 'em.

These are really a very good pair of Ab Straps. They are stong, comfortable and does the job. I recommend this product.

4 stars is because of the price. I bought a door way chinup bar for 30 bucks and these for 40.

I bought the straps with the door pullup bar and both was a good buy.The straps are strong enough and confortable enough to holdup my 200lb body with no problem.I recommend this straps if your thinking about purchasing a set of staps.

These ab straps are very durable and will last for a lifetime. The hooks are very large and will fit over any bar. I have been using mine for over 2 months and am very pleased. Harbinger makes very strong, durable products. I also have their dip belt, which I highly recommend.

These work great for their intended purpose. The strap is wide enough to give plenty of support. I give four stars because the hooks are a bit sloppy although I have no concern over them failing. The hooks are plenty large to fit over the pull up bar on my equipment. My weight is 155 lbs. so I'm not exactly stressing them. - Ab Workout - Ab Straps - Hanging Straps - Ab Exercises'

Camping Stoves - camp stoves, coleman

Coleman got it right this time. The carrying handle is substantial and stays cool. The handle also facilitates pressing the lighter button without bracing against hot metal. The curved, sealed design eliminates sharp edges, and makes cleaning easier. Spacious burners allowed us to use our 9" fry pan on a single burner, with the side wind shields up, and still have room around it (we could have used a slightly larger fry pan).

Water boiled reasonably quickly.

The piezoelectric igniter worked well. Just keep clicking it until you either see the flame (hard to do in bright light) or hear the flame.

This is our first experience with propane. PROs: Hot and clean. Unlike gasoline stoves, the propane will not dirty the bottom of your pots and pans. And you don't have the smell and mess of gasoline stoves. CONs: Invisible flame in bright light. I cannot tell if the flame is overshooting or undershooting the bottom of the pot or pan. The flame can actually be too hot. Boil water with a full flame (I think that the right burner is a little hotter than the left). But fry pancakes on the lowest flame possible, and keep an eye on it. A higher flame can be so hot that it can discolor the metal, or reduce oil to a baked-on gum.

This stove made our recent camping trip a real pleasure. Coleman PerfectFlow InstaStart 2-Burner Stove

My husband and I were in the habit of just using an open fire to cook when we camped. But this weekend, since we were camping with our two youngsters ,for the first time, and their Scout friends, we decided to splurge and get this Coleman propane stove. I am so glad we did.

It rained. I mean the first night it poured (fortunately after we got the tent and pavilion set up) and the Coleman really saved our trip. Because we had a means to cook, we weren't driven off like so many others. We just popped on our rain gear, huddled under the pavilion and popped open the Coleman and started cooking. First hot coffee and cocoa, because it was getting cold, and then dinner.

Now the best thing we did, besides buying this stove, was bringing our Lodge cast iron griddle/grill. Lodge Logic Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle. This griddle fit the stove perfectly and gave us a huge surface to cook on. (Plus, once the griddle heated up, we all huddled around it warming our hands.)

Seriously, the combination is great. And the combo saved our weekend. The next day was beautiful. We cooked breakfast in no time and were off on a walk.

Talking Points:::

We thought the stove was great. I think it heated up the water for coffee and hot Tang faster than our electric stove at home.

Easy to use. I will note that one of the labels for the knobs was on incorrectly-- but no big deal.

Even if you love other means of cooking while camping, I'd suggest taking the stove along as a back up. Being cold and without food is no fun.

Pam T~

I buy gobbs on Amazon cuz I love the reviews and can tell you that I thought with all the rave ones I'd dismiss those who remarked about the difficult to adjust flame, thinking they must be just extra picky. Nope, they're not - on our first trip, I got so aggrevated over that I could have wrestled big foot out in those woods, and won! Could not get it to low to save my life, so thusly wound up having to turn the stinking thing off and relight just to keep things from burning, and even that was a futile effort. Arrgghhh!

I loved the fact that it has that nice-to-touch carrying handle, is compact yet good cooking area, and had the Instastart. However, after only a few uses the Instastart was Insta-I'm-not-starting-anything-anymore, leaving me to use matches anyway, so that part was a bust.

And yup, other reviewers were also right when they complained about the rigid copper tube that connects to the tank - makes positioning the tank a real pain, only place for it to work well at all is hanging precariously off the side of your table, placing weight bearing on that connection which to me is an obvious opportunity to cause a leak.

Nope, believe those reviewers - I wouldn't recommend this thing if it were 5 bucks, it's still not worth the headache of burning everything you cook. And now I have to go find another one...arrrghhh.

I am very pleased with the purchase and the performance of this stove. It takes the standard 16.4oz Coleman canisters. The setting it up and taking it down was easy and efficient. It cleans up easily. I used if for 2.5 days in heating water for coffee and cleaning, warming food and frying up burgers/hot dogs and still hadn't used up the original canister I hooked up to the stove.

The only negative comment I have is the InstaStarter. You have to fiddle with where to set the gas setting for the igniter to catch, when it worked. It would take multiple tries to get the spark to catch. It would work, but at times it was just as easy to grab a match and light it. (I want my coffee now.) I would suggest you make sure you have matches or additional flame source. Until you figure out the quirkyness of the InstaStart, the additional flame source will be handy.

This is the best brand for any camping equipment and this stove is great! One touch of a button and your burner is lit. No more windy days keeping you from lighting your burner! I give it an AAA+++. On top of everything else, the price was great. I had been pricing these for awhile and Amazon was $20 cheaper than anyone else with free shipping on top. Great deal!! My husband had picked out an off brand at a local sporting goods store that was only $9 less than this one. The choice was simple. Buy this one, it's worth it!

Purchased this stove in May and then took it on a 5-week road trip, of which we spent about two weeks' worth camping. The burners heat well and the stove is very convenient. The only issue we noticed is that sometimes the spark ignition doesn't work, so bring along a lighter in case. No big deal though. I also bought the adapter hose so we could connect it to a regular BBQ-size propane tank; worked beautifully. No need to keep buying little canisters or throw them away - such a waste! - Camping - Coleman - Camp Stoves - Great Camp Stove'

Striper Fishing - fishing, striper fishing

This otherwise fine book suffers from the lack of meaningful illustrations, particularly with respect to casting. Verbal descriptions of casting procedures are impossible to follow; Burnley's descriptions are no exceptions. This book is apparently not for the novice, in that there few pictures or descriptions of surf fish species (if there was a single picture of a blue, then I must have missed it). More and better illustrations of standard rigs would be helpful. And why did he include a 3-page, 8-step illustration of the Bimini twist knot, when he went on to explain that it is seldom used in actual fishing conditions? On the plus side, Burnley hits about all related topics, from lunch to tackle, from buckets to buggys, from Maine to Florida. It is very well written, obviously from his own significant experience. As either a guide or a fishing buddy, Eric Burnley is probably one heck of a good teacher. Surf Fishing the Atlantic Coast: 2nd Edition

I have been fishing since I was 12 years old and now I'm 32 but of all these years, I've never tried surf fishing. I found this book in my local Barnes and Nobel but am an avid user of Amazon so I had to come on here and give this book a stellar rating. I am heading off the Outer Banks of North Carolina this weekend and just purchased my first Surf Rod/ Real and tackle. I did not want to go into this spot blindly and come out disappointed. This book is LOADED with information and will bring the novice/beginner fisher up to date with terms, equipment, and techniques. Not only does it cover techniques, knots, hooks, rods, reels, but it also has a chapter on Fish and tells you all about the fish and best suggestion on how to land them on the beach. It also has a chapter about locations. It mentioned Duck North Carolina and that happened to be the exact location my trip is planned for so I am extremely pleased with book. I have not even cast my line out yet but I feel like I've been surf casting for 10 years now. If these is one thing I dislike, it's when you walk into a shop such as a tackle shop and you have no clue what your buying and then make faces and suggestions but who knows if your getting sound advice or not. Now I can walk the tackle shop in NC and say, I'd like to purchase a pencil popper lure for blue fish or do you happen to have any Hopkins style lures. The only con to this book is that it was published in 1989 so not sure if all the location information even applies anymore since Hurricane Floyd took care of NC in 1998. If you want to learn how to Surf Fish and feel like a pro and walk onto the beach with some confidence, read this book. You will not be sorry.

I recently moved from the midwest and bought a house near the Atlantic Ocean. A lifelong freshwater fisherman, I decided to take advantage of my proximity to the ocean and bought this book to get some background and info. Nothing will teach you about surf fishing like buying some gear and just going (perhaps with a few helpful tips from the people at the Sporting Goods store), but there is a great deal of information in this book that the neophyte may find interesting and/or useful. Topics in this book including bait, tackle, casting, and knots. There are two particularly useful sections in this book though. In one section, EB describes how understading various underwater features such as sand bars can be the difference between success and failure. He outlines where fish are likely to hover around such features and why, and how the surf angler can spot such features. Second, there is an extensive section that discusses the best surf fishing areas of each of the Atlantic states. This may be the most useful, even for veteran surf fisherman, if you are planning on travelling up or down the coast. I wouldn't put too much weight on some of the negative reviews about this book. Who would learn to cast from reading a book? As for Burnley being a jerk, that may well be true, but Robert Ruark was an abusive alcoholic who wrote some of the greatest outdoor literature ever penned. A useful reference for anyone surf fishing the Atlantic (particularly for a newbie), and a fine addition to any fisherman's library.

Some of us need an excuse - or at least an objective - in order to go out and face nature in its real, raw form. One of the purest forms of these endeavours is surf fishing. What the author describes here is a sport that can put you on a cold, wild beach in October, face to a raging surf, going manu a manu with a fish that may be as strong as you are. Recreating the ancestral challenges we all once faced to put food on the table doesn't get any more real than this. But there is no romance or deep reflection about the nature of things or why fly-fishing is like life in this book. It's nuts and bolts. And its about real surf fishing - not dropping a line while your at the beach. And its filled with the kind of information that - if you are really going to do it - you are really going to need. And remember - deflate those tires or they may never find you.

Not a bad book if you want to catch sharks and skates. I can tell you after moving to the NE coast from Australia, this book does not go into the best methods for surf fishing the atlantic coast, much of which can only be learnt through hours on the beach and pure chance events, such as pulling in an expert's rig by accident and seeing how it's set up!!

Good book with some good hints....but if you're looking for real advice on how to land some crocker for your pan or a flounder or two, well you won't find it in this book or any other for that matter. - Surf Or Beach Fishing - Fishing - Surfcasting - Striper Fishing'

Concealer Stick - makeup, consealer

I really like this green cover stick because it neutralizes redness or dark areas really well, yet once rubbed into skin, does not look green. I moisturize first, then apply the cover stick and blend it in, before applying foundation. It makes my skin look nearly flawles and brightens the areas I want to brighten. Maybelline New York Cover Stick Concealer, Medium Beige, Medium 1, 0.16 Ounce

This concealer does it's job, it's natural, it helps with redness in the face, and the whole under eye area. I think it's better using it with a primer, because it can be a little dry. Other than that I think it's cheap and great! - Cover Up Consealer - Coastal Scents - Makeup - Consealer'

Anthony Hopkins - anthony hopkins, torture

Proof of a mathematical equation and proof of madness are the two driving forces in John Madden's film. Catherine (Gwyneth Paltrow) who cared for her brilliant mathematician father Robert (Anthony Hopkins) is afraid that she's inherited his other "gift"-mental illness. Catherine cared for her father Robert during the end. When Claire (Hope Davis) Catherine's sister arrives home for the funeral she expresses concern for Catherine's mental state. Catherine begins to doubt her own teetering sanity. Robert's assistant Hal (Jake Gyllenhaal) rummages around Robert's papers the night before and after the funeral trying to find an important equation her father was working on before he died. Featuring a group of strong performances, "Proof" is a compelling drama about grief, madness and emotional seclusion. Although Madden's drama suffers from the stage origins of the play but the emotional high wire act the cast performs makes it worthwhile. Whether or not there's "proof" of this film being a "great" film is based on how drawn into the drama you are by the appealing cast. A warning about some of the other reviews here--there good reviews but some of them have spoilers that give away a lot of the plot of the film. If you want to be surpised and enjoy the ride then I'd suggest you skip reading these reviews.

"Proof" looks extremely good here with natural skin tones, sharp image quality and nice definition. The 5.1 audio isn't exactly designed for the format since this a dialogue driven film but there is nice ambient sounds evident in the other speakers.

A clinical but interesting commentary track by John Madden is interesting to listen to but would have been enlightened by the cast's contribution. We also get deleted scenes none of which are revelations "From Stage to Screen" covers the adaptation of the stage play to film. One of the challenges was staying true to the stage roots while opening up the player and making it less stage bound. Producer Allison Owen makes an interesting comment-she imagined the film as the type of film that would have been made in the 70's where moving and powerful drama was still king in theaters. The cast and Madden discuss their characters and what attracted them to the project. Madden comments that many audience members thought that the play was like watching a movie which is a bit unusual but that was because of the fact that the play was told from a variety of different points of view and the staging.

A fine film that touches on madness, emotional isolation and the fear of what lies down the road for anyone; "Proof" is a fascinating drama that works amazingly well due to the strong performances. Madden who worked with Paltrow in "Shakespeare in Love" clearly connects with Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins. Proof

It's interesting that most people tend to have a problem with the screenplay for this movie, when it is almost word for word the stage play, which is renowned for its elegance and simplicity. Perhaps the issue comes up in the flashbacks and the ending, both of which disagree with the play. Still, as a stage adaptation to film, Proof does the job beautifully. The characters remain true to their original 2-dimensionality; it is the apparent lack of emotion that actually lends itself to intense feelings from the viewer.

PROOF is one of those rare films that transfers a superb play directly to the screen without losing a bit of the power of the play, but enhancing the story with the advantages of the camera. With a tough story like this one it takes a brilliant cast and director to fine-tune the work and in this instance it all works to perfection.

The story is well known from all the PR of the theatrical screening: recounting it in a review does not add or subtract the importance of the film or the experience of the viewer. The premise, mathematician Robert (Anthony Hopkins) and his caretaker daughter Catherine (Gweneth Paltrow) who also is an uncommonly bright 27-year-old mathematics mind and has spent the glowing years of her youth caring for her recently deceased father. They converse in flashbacks, a means of realizing the closeness of their bond emotionally, mentally, and probably parallel mental illness proclivities. Robert left notebooks filled with thoughts and clues to a complex mathematical proof and Hal (Jake Gyllenhaal), a devoted admirer of Robert's genius, is organizing the thoughts and deciphering the meanings of Robert's scribblings. Catherine's estranged sister Claire (Hope Davis) arrives to 'settle' the matters left by Robert's demise and becomes the camera that brings focus to the fact that Catherine has inherited not only her father's genius but his mental fragility as well. How this quartet - Robert, Catherine, Hal, Claire - serve to unravel the findings of Robert's (and Catherine's) legacy is the essence of this gripping tale.

A more powerful group of actors for this film would be difficult to find. One expects the brilliance of Paltrow's performance since she had time with the character on the stage, and Hopkins can toss these bizarre characters off with grace and aplomb. But it is the pleasure of seeing Davis and Gyllenhaal rise to the same level of expertise that makes the film glow. This is an example of ensemble acting of the highest form and director Madden conducts the performance with sensitivity and momentum. The result is a treasureable, intelligent, powerful film that challenges the mind while entertaining all the senses. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, February 06

John Madden, who directed Shakespeare in Love (1998), and David Auburn, who wrote the script (adapted from his play), have put together a moving story about mathematical genius admixed with mental instability much in the manner of the life of John Nash who was the subject of A Beautiful Mind (2001).

Nash was a paranoid schizophrenic who was tormented by voices in his head warning him of dangers and conspiracies that didn't exist. Like Nash, Robert (Anthony Hopkins) is a brilliant mathematician who, having done spectacular work in his early twenties, goes crazy. Unlike Nash he is never able to regain control of "the machinery," as he calls his mind, and is never able to do any worthwhile work again.

Or is he? As he is taken care of by his mathematically astute daughter, Catherine (Gwyneth Paltrow in a most affecting and beguiling performance) he fills scores of notebooks with intense writings. At one point he seems in remission and at another point Catherine rushes home to find him in out in the backyard in the middle of a snowy night fired with enthusiasm about his latest work. At another point, he and Catherine work together on a project. And herein lies the crux of the matter. As we discover, this project turns out to be a proof of a difficult mathematical theorem or conjecture that will be internationally celebrated if it is correct.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Hal, one of Robert's students who is going through his mentor's papers in the hope of discovering something wonderful. Catherine tells him that among the 103 notebooks that her father filled during his days of mental instability there is not a single one that has anything of value in it. But when Hal wins her heart she produces a notebook that was locked away in a drawer. It turns out that this notebook contains that most amazing proof mentioned above. And it is here that Catherine says--in line that is so very well set up that her expression fairly takes your breath away--"I wrote it."

Well, did she or didn't she? Because the work seems to be in her father's handwriting and seems to be well beyond her abilities, her sister Claire, played in that clever but somewhat annoying style that Hope Davis has so perfected (About Schmidt; American Splendor), claims that Catherine is deluded and couldn't have written it. To Catherine's grievous disappointment Hal reluctantly agrees, and this seeming lack of faith in her sends Catherine toward the precipice of insanity. This is the key question of the plot. Who wrote the proof? Its resolution will be the denouement of the story.

Clearly Claire believes that Catherine is so like her father that she is about to go crazy herself. So she tells Catherine she wants to sell the house now that their father is dead and bring Catherine to New York where she lives so that she can take care of her.

Will Catherine go or will she trust her heart and begin a life with Hal?

This movie does not play well with some audiences I think because the wonderment that some of the characters feel--the absolute awe that transfigures them when they behold a great mathematical proof, is not entirely appreciated by the average person. Madden makes sure that Catherine, Hal and one of the mathematicians form on their faces an expression something akin to a religious enthrallment when they understand the thrilling logic of the proof. I suspect that for many viewers something was lost in the translation. Consequently, although many others, including myself, believe this to be one of the outstanding movies of 2005 it only rates a 7.0 at IMDb and was not nominated for any Academy Awards. Paltrow won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Shakespeare in Love, also directed by Madden (he seems to bring out the best in her), and that award was richly deserved. But here in Proof I believe she was every bit as good (in a different way) although she was only nominated for a Golden Globe award and did not win.

Another thing about this movie is that it is strangely affecting emotionally. You might find yourself misting up a bit as you watch. I know I did.

See this for Gwyneth Paltrow, a gifted actress giving one of her best performances, and for John Madden, a director who makes beautiful movies with style and finesse. - Murder Mystery - Crime Suspense - Torture - Anthony Hopkins'

Solar Battery Charger - battery charger, solar charger

Been into Solar Chargers for the past 6 months. Interest in solar charges grew from wanting to be prepared for emergencies. The electronic devices that I have are powered through AA, AAA, and USB sources. Therefore, my focus was on finding a solar charger that can power one or any combination of the three. This is the review of the XTG AA and AAA Solar Battery Charger.

I was hopeful as this solar charger is supposed to be able to charge both AA and AAA batteries. Many charges do not have the ability to charge AAA batteries. In addition, the solar charger has the ability to charge devices through a USB adapter. On the positive side, this charger did appear to have some ability to charge AA and AAA batteries, could use AA or AAA batteries to charge a device with a USB connection, there is a charge indicator for either the first AA or AAA battery position, and has a red LED light that turns on when you have a battery inserted and is in the process of charging.

The negatives, however, appear to lower the rating of this device significantly. First, the solar charger was not able to fully charge some of my AA or AAA batteries. I have used Eneloops, Energizer, and Duracell NiMH batteries ranging from brand new to a several years old, but only some of them reached top-level charge as indicated by the third, yellow-green light. Instead, the batteries only reached the mid-level charge indicated by the yellow-orange light, even after a complete full day of bright sun. New alkaline batteries and NiMH batteries charged in another device provide a full charge indication. Second, the level indicators are very vague with a red for low, yellow-orange for medium, and yellow-green LED for full charge. Third, there is no indication of the battery charge being completed. The red LED will remain on, even when I put in a fully charged NiMH. Fourth is that the device appears to be poorly constructed. I bought this device in new condition, but it appeared used when it arrived. The device itself had misaligned LEDs and the battery door did not appear to fit well.

Overall, I rate this XTG AA and AAA Solar Battery Charger a 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. The charger has a good concept and some function, but does not appear to execute the job well. Furthermore, the build quality is not what I have come to expect from XTG. Better performance and build quality would have raised its rating significantly. The XTG AA and AAA Solar Battery Charger is a disappointment compared to their SOL1500 Premium Solar Charger, which I rated a 4.8 out of 5.0 starts. AA and AAA Solar Battery Charger - Charge Your Batteries Via USB or Sun Power - Features Also Include a Battery Tester and USB Output for Charging Cell Phones, iPods/mp3s, and More

Caveat: I have not tested the solar charging features yet.

The product works as advertised, and in fact has some features not shown on the product page. You can provide USB power to other devices using standard disposable batteries (Alkaline, etc.), and can do so with only one pair of AA (rather than the full complement of four AA).

However, the battery tester is weak in that it only provides 3 different LEDs for indication (red, yellow and green) rather than some kind of meter or higher resolution indicator.

The one big disappointment is that when charging the battery (the instruction sheet says its the same whether charging via solar or USB), the unit does not give ANY indication of progress or completion. You don't know when the batteries are fully charged!

Charger arrived yesterday.Seems like solid construction.Nice clean cells,no scratches. Here are the specs on the instruction sheet:Ni-MH AA 2000mah-12hr charging time for two batteries.24hrs for four batteries.Ni-MH AAA 800mah-4.8hrs for two batteries.Ni-CD AA 1000mah-6hrs charging time for 2 batteries,12 hrs for four batts.Ni-CD AA 600mah 3.6 hrs charging time for two batts-7.2 hrs for four batts.Specs also say 500-1000 cycles, which I think means alot compared to just 500 cycles, which some companies claim for their product.I put two 1900mah AA eneloop batteries in,which were discharged down to about .8 volts according to my multitester. After about six hrs of fairly strong sunlight(second week of February) the batteries tested to 1.5 volts. In my opinion this is pretty good news.I would think that in the summer time, four of the same batteries could easily be charged in a day or less.Included cable is USB A Male to Mini USB B 5 pin Male.USB A Male being output and USB Mini being input. To the other reviewer who had a problem with the charging status light not turning green,I would suggest that that feature would cause a significant increase in price. Also,if you're into all things solar, using a multitester is easy to learn and an absolute necessity.Hope this helps.

I have had this item for 3 day's now, and it does everything I expected it to do base on the reviews; I give this SOLAR charger a 5 star based on what this unit is, and does, and not based on what I magically want it to do :) Yes I did take a chance on this purchase, but the option of returning an item is available. Take a minute and look and think about the item. This is a solar charger, you cannot expect an electrical charge out of it like you would right out of your wall socket. This item is $25 bucks, and I know that if you were to go into a Radio Shack to purchase this very same item it would run you, "oh I would say anywhere from $59 -$89 bucks". Yes the battery indicator does not indicate a green light for rechargeable batteries, so you do need a voltmeter, and I have seen voltmeters at the dollar store that work well or on this site for a buck or two. Of course your batteries will charge without a voltmeter, it's just so you will know when the batteries are fully charged. Just use common sense depending on the weather. This charger so far, works great, as long as you have patients and a little understanding for the still in process movement of solar energy. This charger charges four AA within a charge, or two AAA batteries within one charge, one charge can take up to 1 to 2 or 4 days, this all depends on your location, weather, and rechargeable batteries you are using. This device fully charged my HTC Touch just fine off of two AA batteries; you can charge a device with either 4 AA batteries in the charger which is nice! Or you can charge a device with 2 AA batteries in the charger which works fine as well; you can also charge a device with regular none chargeable batteries (single use batteries)! That is a big plus for those who travel a lot. Those who want the option of being able to charge their digital cameras, phones, or whatever device it may be that can handle the correct charge from this charger. The USB output is DC 5.0---350mA and the charging current is 200mA for 2 batteries and 100mA for 4 batteries. My unit did come in a package that was sealed, and yes it has a shiny finish, but there are some small scratches that make it look like it was used before hand (which I doubt, I think it's just the best finish they can come up with). So far the unit is working good, I recommend it for either travel, or emergencies, because you can use regular none rechargeable batteries to charge up your devices successfully, make sure you test it out before leaving town, and yes you can use rechargeable batteries, just recognize the time it may take to charge it. The other reason why I recommend this device is for emergencies, or even if SHTF for those who know what I am talking about :) it will work great for flash lights and portable games for your kids. Oh I almost forgot, the other poster was right, the durability is not solid, but not that weak either (meaning it won't break as long as you don't throw it against a wall or drop it 50 times like some do with their phones. I will repost on here with updates, I plan on testing out outdoor solar light rechargeable batteries in this charger, and please excuse my grammar; I am posting this as a favor to you, and hope it helped a little. - Battery Charger - Solar Charger - Charger - Backup'

Girls Magazines

My 11-year-old daughter has been a subscriber for about 1 ½ years and absolutely adores Discovery Girls. She reads it cover to cover the day it arrives in the mail. It provides a great mix of articles about issues that affect the 7-12 age group as well as fashion tips, celebrity interviews, quizzes and more - all the things the girls are looking for in a magazine! The readers provide much of the content for the magazine so it is truly a forum for girls to express themselves as well as an opportunity to see that other girls are having the same experiences. As a parent, I like the magazine because it is completely appropriate for the "tween" girl - great content in the articles (real topics about real issues), limited advertising and the "models" are readers who are chosen by their answers on a questionnaire, not by the way they look. It's nice for girls who are beginning to worry about body image to be able to see normal girls just like them in the pages of a national magazine. I would definitely recommend this magazine to anyone who knows a girl in the 7-12 age range! Discovery Girls (1-year)

I am a media specialist at public school. I am in charge of ordering various media including magazines for our library. Discovery Girls was first sent to me as a sample. Upon reviewing the contents I quickly decided this was a keeper and ordered a subscription for my students. I is so nice to see someone publishing a magazine where teen girls are presented as wholesome, age-appropriate teen girls and not as exploited, skin-bearing women. I had been hoping for years for a magazine like this. Discovery Girls is packed with topics appealing to teens. The layout is vivid and attracting. If you are concerned about content and role models for teen girls then this is the magazine you have been waiting for.

1. They come to your state and may choose you to be in the magazine, which is VERY exciting!2. It talks just enough about boys and crushes to keep you satisfied and clued in, and it doesn't go overboard trying to keep guys in or out of the magazine.3. The beauty section talks about natural things, like hair care and acne, as oppose to "shaping your eyebrows" and "getting a fake tan."4. The fashion section advertises cute clothes and accessories that are affordable and that you'll actually wear. Some other magazines were advertising how these ugly bright tights are going to be "hot" this year (and at pretty expensive stores, may I add). 5. Tons of quizzes! And not quizzes like, "Do You Know How to Get Your Guy?", but, "Are You Pop Star Material?" and, "Will You Survive Camp?"6. Lots of cool contests, like describing your ultimate birthday party!7. The girls they have in the magazines are girls that you really can relate to and don't look they've been on an extreme crash diet for two years. Also, they aren't wearing clothes with plunging necklines, super-short minis, leather jackets, and sequined bras.8. The magazine has debates on subjects like, "Are school uniforms a good idea?" And they publish both sides of the argument!I hope you love Discovery Girls as much as I have!

Discovery Girls magazine is geared toward 8-12 year old girls, and the content and design of the magazine reflects that well. I appreciate the magazine for the fact that it highlights the achievements of regular girls and discusses everyday issues. Girls submit stories and poems, draw pictures, discuss different debate topics (e.g. "Is Brittney Spears a Good Role Model?") and there are no professional models! My daughter loves the fact that there are "reals girls" in the magazine and is thrilled by the possibility of being in it herself. I like this magazine because it is not your typical "teen" magazine in which boys and celebs seem to be the main focus. Discovery Girls focuses on everyday, ordinary girls and the issues they face in this transition into the teen years. Such topics include changing in front of other girls at school, dealing with bullies, when to wear a bra, and middle school fears. Of course there is the fun stuff too, such as embarrassing moments, crafts, contests, games, quizzes, fashion, and sports tips. I recommend it to mothers and daughters alike!

This magazine is totally cool. It's great for any girl between 7~12. I've just turned 12 and I know that soon I'll be too old for it, but I think I'll still keep reading it. For mom's worried about if it has "junk"; kissing, boys, etc, it has nothing like that. It mostly is about how to have a good friendship!!!

This magazine has fashion, but in a way that helps you to express yourself by fashion, know what I mean? So it's cool. I always have a hard time waiting for it in the mail. And it's worth the wait!!!

So even though most of the magazines nowadays are all about relationships with boys and ridiculous fashions, celebrities and popstars, this magazine is for normal girls. It's covergirls are normal girls, instead of celebrity teens, giving the everyday girl a chance to stand out.

So I think that it is the perfect magazine for any girl, because of it's understandable issues, appropriate topics, cool craft ideas, and fun fashion. Thank you for reading this. I hope it has been useful.

This magazine is really good for girls ages 9-13! It's more sophisticated than your average kids magazine, but it's not all about boys and makeup like a teen magazine... I could never find an appropriate magazine before, until my friend showed me hers. I read it and it was sooooo good. Also, though there are a few ads, they're actually of something a preteen might actually want to buy. I strongly recommend this magazine!

This magazine is great for adolescent girls - it fits perfectly between American Girl aged girls and older teenaged girls - so many magazines have junk, actual junk, that girls with good lifestyles and good esteem don't need to bring them 'down' - THIS MAGAZINE has POSITIVE MESSAGES & INTERESTING ARTICLES - it's the type of magazine that a MOM or AUNT or FRIEND will purchase for a YOUNG LADY.'

Flooring Stapler - hardcore tools, nail gun

I recently purchased the Hard Core floor nailer based on posted reviews and was not disappointed. The pictures really don't show this is a big tool and well built. I used the nailer to install 3/4" walnut flooring using Bostitch 2" staples and it only mis-fired once trying to push 2 staples through at the same time. I would attribute this to the manufacture of the staple and not the tool. Jamb was easily cleared and it never missed a beat again. The instruction manual stated it used 16 gauge staples and I had trouble finding that size. In fact it uses 15.5 gauge with 1/2" crown and Home Depot had what I needed. Excellent quality tool and the price is right. If your looking I would recommend this item without reservation. Hardcore Tools® HARDWOOD FLOORING 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic 2 in 1 Flooring Cleat Nailer / Stapler

I did my first floor with this tool. I have two more to do. It is a massive and well built tool. It came with everything I needed to get it working. I shot the L shaped nails purchased from Home Depot and it never miss or partially fired. I ran the tool off a small Craftsman air compressor. It's the one with the small tank about the size of a long two liter bottle. It kept up fine and the tool worked well with it. Highly recommended for the price.

I researched these things a long time but didn't want to pay the price for a named brand one as I wouldn't have used the same amount of time as a professional. Just for your information, I came across a lot of people warning against the ones that look like the handle is small and held on with two U bolts as they leak after awhile.

This company advised as follow:

WE GUARANTEE MOST OF OUR PRODUCTS FOR 1 YEAR from the date that your item was purchased, against defects in material, craftsmanship, or normal wear. We will replace products free of charge

I ordered one. It works good for 3 week before start to leak air badly. I called the customer services and got the following answer from the manager: "We do guarantee most of out products but the nailer is not included (I cannot find anywhere said that the nailer is not guaranteed, Unfortunately I can only find out after the tool quit on me) The manager told me that all nailer can only be return or exchanged within 7 days from purchase and it must be brand new. As a customer, you will have to fix any problem by yourself after 7 days or it has already been used. But the problem is: the shipping will take more than 7 days. Even I got it within 7 days, how do I know if it is good without trying it. Basically THERE IS NO WARRANTY AT ALL ON THIS PRODUCT. They don't care about you once they got your money.

I tried to fix it according to the manual. but BELIEVE ME, There is NO instruction on how to fix it on the MANUAL. instead, there is only a tool break down pic. I am handy enough to do full tune-up and change break on my car, but I am not able to fix this thing. so... instead of have someone fix it for me(it will cost me 150 anyway), I will have to order another more reliable tool to get my job done.

Just let you know there is no warranty on this product. It is officially from their manager. It might works for someone. Hope they will not send a defect one to you. Good Luck to you all.

This is a top notch product, very easy to use, set up for 3/4 in. flooring right out of the box. Much better piece than the junk I was renting. Just wish i had ordered sooner, and included the 2 inch staples. The 2 inch cleat or 'L' nails worked fine with the 'rough' sawmill oak underlayment but, staples always hold better. By the way I was installing 1200 sf of 3/4 in. prefinish oak flooring over the rough lumber. Very pleased with this tool. Joel Townsend Tn.

Anyone looking for a quality flooring gun this is IT! I am weekend warrior with no formal carpentery training. I did a lot of research looking for the best gun for a reasonable price. I was looking at the Bostich, Porter Cable, Senco and found the Hardcore on Amazon. I am glad I did. The reviews I read gave me the assurance I needed to make my final decision. I hope this review does the same for you.

I am currently doing 1500 sqft, 3/4 red oak in my house with staples. The gun is solid as a rock, easy to use and versatile because it uses both staples and l-cleats. It was setup and ready to go. I did need to tighten a couple of bolts to stop an air leak but no big deal. It jammed once and that's because I inserted too many staples. The tools design made it easy to remove the jam. I'd recommed this to anyone looking for a flooring nailer. At this price you can also buy a good compressor to go with it. Plan on spending another $50 to have it shipped but it's still a great deal. This is a smart choice for anyone looking to buy a 2 in 1 flooring nailer.

This is a great product that lives up to its good reviews. It was less expensive to buy this than to rent a nailer for the time I needed it. I'm almost finished with my job (half a house of solid 3/4" oak strip, including significant "lacing in") without so much as a single mis-fired cleat or split tongue (I'm using Senco-brand flooring cleats).

I have to admit that I was a little nervous about purchasing an brand unknown to me, especially after reading about some of the annoying problems folk have encountered with name-brand nailers. I'm very satisfied with the quality and performance of this tool. I, obviously, cannot comment on lifetime longevity and ability to withstand abuse; but that was not my reason for buying this tool.

This nailer is a bit heavier than some nailers, and you cannot get quite as close to the wall as with some. It is easy to use both kneeling and standing, and there is good clearance for striking the nailer "wrong handed" when near a wall or door jamb. Kit comes complete with everything you need, including mallet and base plates for different floor thickness. It also includes a complete overhaul kit of o-rings, etc. - Nail Gun - Hardwood - Hardcore Tools - Cleat Nailer'
