Cook S Illustrated - grater, cheese grater
I loooove cheese, so I need a grater that can handle a pound or two with ease. The hand graters may take up less space, but take a lot more energy to use and are not versatile. Plus the box grater's flat sides make for much better grating surfaces than the curved hand graters usually have.
Like all OXO good grips products, this grater has comfortable handles, and a practicle, but very attractive design. The steel is sturdy, stain and scratch resistant. No problems sticking this in the dishwasher, though you should take off the removable rubber rim on the bottom of the grater first and make sure all pieces are dry before reassembling and storing.
I didn't think I would like or use the plastic container, but again, OXO's talent for design wins out. The container is a good size for most meals serving 2-5 people, and just slap on some saran wrap to store for in the fridge for later. I haven't tried anything but cheese yet, however the grater seems quite sharp enough to handle most gratables. I like the slimmish form of the grater and it is the right size for ease of grating and storage. OXO Good Grips Box Grater
I purchased this based on a review by Cooks Magazine. It is everything I need in a grater. First off, it grates very well. Beyond that it has some excellent design features. The handle is very comfortable to grip and the bottom ring keeps it secure on the counter top. It is very easy to clean as your hand with a sponge fits easily inside. The cup has a lid and is a handy addition for grating and then storing. The best thing is that the cup with its lid fits up inside the grater for storage. A real plus for people with limited space like me. This is my 3rd or 4th grater purchase and don't think I will need another one for a very long time.
I love this grater. It's well made, and the attachable container is great for measuring and storing. I bought this one after the other Oxo grater I bought (white plastic, fold-up model) broke. This one is much better, and it holds up well in the dishwasher.
I like OXO products generally, from ok to nice to look at, usually have a solid feel and very nice ergonimically. This grater makes no improvements in ergonomics outside of the plastic handle vs. some uncomfortable metal handles. The catch-cup is nice. It cuts just ok, not amazing as some reviews stated. My big complaint is that while it looks a bit nicer than my old chefmate (very cheap grater), it cuts the same and it actually feels flimsier (The steel body has some bend while grating) even my chefmate didn't do that. Wish I had chosen a different upgrade, the search continues for a better grater, $15 down the road...
Being Vegan I should have read the reviews more carefully. It might grate cheese perfectly but it isn't sharp enough to grate veggies well. Carrots? Forget it! And the catch box...what a joke! Nothing falls in the box unless you tip the grater while you grate and if you do that the box comes off and you have veggies all over the place.
Positives: grates well; face of grater is wider than usual; collection container fits well both in use and when stored in grater and has sealing lid.
Negative: some of the food being grated (e.g. cheese) falls down the front of the grater, therefore outside of the collection container, necessitating use on cutting board or plate.
At first I was a little skeptical because this grater is smaller than the traditional standing grater, but in reality you don't actually use that much surface area of a grater's face, and the compact size makes it easier to handle and store. I find a lot of OXO products to be best-of-breed (you'll have to pry my OXO peeler out of my cold dead hands!) and I'm adding this one to the list.
It was time to replace an ancient flat grater - read the reviews and determined this was the best. It's sharp and fits in a drawer. The bonus was the little rectangle box with measurements on the side and a cover. Just right when a recipe calls for a 1/2 cup of grated cheese. Cheese that is freshly grated is so, so much better than what comes out of bag - that icky coating may keep the strands from sticking together, but it definitely affects the texture and taste.
I purchased this product because it was recommended by America's Test Kitchen, a public television show produced by Cook's Illustrated magazine.
It's easy to hold, easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. What more could I ask for? It's hard to beat OXO Good Grips products, and I wish I owned everything they make!
The clear storage container (with non-slip ring, lid, and measurement markings) is a super feature. - Kitchen Gadgets - Cheese Grater - Oxo Grater - Grater'

Camping Equipment - hammock, camping equipment
I ordered this for my husband for a Fathers Day gift & he loves it. It was extremely easy to set up. I really like the convenience of it folding up for easy storage when not in use. It is heavy enough to be sturdy yet light enough to pick up and move around.
My only negative comment is the length: My husband is 5'10" and the hammock is just about right for him. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone much taller than that. Other than that it is a great product! Strathwood Basics Portable Folding Hammock with Carry Bag, Chocolate with Champagne Frame
Ok, so I ordered this naively. Those of you liked this product have never laid in a hammock. There is this incredible womb-like property a hammock has, mostly because the material of the hammock assumes your shape, and because of that heady swaying motion that almost on contact transports you to a warm fuzzy place. This is not that. This is a cot. The material is a hard resin with no give, and more importantly, there are four points of contact, not the two that a hammock traditionally has, i.e., NO SWAY whatsoever. I was soooo disappointed. Nicely made, but it's a nicely made cot, not a hammock. I wouldn't say it's even remotely like the experience of laying in a hammock.
The constuction and what you get for the price is amazing. When folded up the size is pretty big and heavy but it seems like it will stand the test of time. The only drawback is the crappy little flat pillow they added to the product. They should have put a velco strap on it so it secures to the headrest area or just cost reduce it out of the product all together. Most people use their own pillows anyways. The color of the tubing was dead on. Great design guys!!
G
This portable hammock was purchased in lieu of some of the other much more expensive stationary hammocks. My wife loves it. The hammock is heavy (about 25 lbs) but is very durable and well made. Set up is a breeze. It comes out of the bag, expands in about 10 seconds and then the hammock is hooked over the four end posts all in less than a minute. Tear down is just as quick.
I originally intended this for around the house but we now take it with us when we go RV camping. We are the envy of many of the other campers!
I purchased this Hammock for 2 reasons one was for it's portability to use at home or camping, two was for it's storage profile.I got more than i bargained for, it is extremely portable and strong. It practically set up itself, and to break it down is quick and easy. I have 2 small kids and we do many outdoors activities(camping, fishing, picnics, etc.), so i wanted something more than a recliner or a cot. I wanted a recreational and a relaxing piece of furniture. This Hammock fits the bill.
Now don't get too excited it's called a Hammock but it does not have the full swing of a traditional Hammock. This is also why i bought this type, due to the unsafe nature of a traditional Hammock. Especially around small kids wanting to play on the hammock. How many times have people including myself have had mishaps attempting to either get on or get off a regular hammock. Yes they are fun until someone or someone's child gets hurt badly, we laugh at the small accidents but pay for the big one's. My wife and kids had a ball on it,the material is very durable and easy on the skin. It comes with a pillow, but you have to air it out to fluff it up(no big deal). You can leave it outside in the weather only if you have a good neighborhood, it might grow legs and vanish. It does have a little swing but it won't let you flip over.
I am 5'7" 200 lbs.,and my wife is 4'10" 100 lbs., we were on the hammock playing with the kids total weight 397 lbs. It handled us easily. I fell asleep comfortably while reading to my kids as they too passed out. The length is more than i needed and was wide enough for 2 adults of medium stature or 1 adult with 2 sons and a caps for sale bedtime story.
Ok now for the tech. stuff, it's a little heavy due to the material and the heavy duty frame/chains. Easy to clean any messes, folds easy and neatly into it's carry bag w/pillow. Safe for kids to be around.
I have recommended this hammock to all who want the easy and safe outdoor fun.
Received this with a great price. Very comfortable (deceptively so) - construction is extremely solid. It is true that "packing" this thing would require some effort, but it is very easy to move once it is open. My 8 year old son and I can move it very easily without scraping the bottom.
I'm not sure about some reviewers concern re instruction and the pillow. The chains easily loop over the solid ends after you pull it open - it took like 10 seconds to "assemble". The colors are great and should go well with just about any color scheme - the beams are a platinum color and the hammock portion is a dark color. Highly suggest you pick this up.
I also bought this hammock at a discount as a gold box deal. All folded up in it's bag, it was a little heavier and bigger than I had imagined, but it wasn't too bad. Assembly couldn't have been easier...just take it out of it's bag, unfold, and connect the hammock's chains. It was a little difficult to pull the hammock taught enough to attach the 2 remaining chains (after attaching the first side), but I imagine with additional use of the product, it will stretch and become easier. The hammock is very comfortable, however the pillow is almost useless. I suppose you can't make the pillow incredibly big and fluffy if it's meant to pack into the bag.
Disassembly was a breeze. Just unattach the 4 chains, roll up the hammock and stick it into the bag. Then fold the frame together, stick it into the bag, and off you go!
Just a quick update:
The issue I had with the hammock being difficult to assemble was a first-time-only issue. It's VERY easy to attach now, and incredibly sturdy. I brought my hammock to the beach last weekend and you could just see everyone eyeing it up. A couple of people even asked me where I got it! It's also very comfortable (especially if you lay a towel down first) and I couldn't be more happier with it! - Durable - Hammock - Camping Equipment - Patio Furniture'

This book is a guide to success for small business owners. Gerber is the founder of a consulting company for small businesses. In the beginning of the book, Gerber cites the well-known failure-rate statistics for small business: 40% fail in 1 year. Of those who survive 1year, 80% fail in 5 years, and of those who survive 5 years, another 80% fail. Over the years, Gerber has observed that the small business owners who fail often share a number of characteristics, while those who succeed do so not by luck, brains, or perseverance, but by taking a different approach. This book explains the approach that is necessary for a business to survive and thrive.
One of Gerber's most striking observations is that most small businesses are started by "technicians", that is people who are skilled at something and who enjoy doing that thing. (A technician can be anything from a computer programmer to plumber to a dog groomer to a musician or lawyer.) When these technicians strike out on their own, they tend to continue doing the work they are skilled at, and ignore the overarching aspects of business. Without clear goals and quantification benchmarks, they soon find themselves overworked, understaffed, and eventually broke. Worst of all, they may come to hate the work they do. Rather than owning a business, they own a job, and they find themselves working for managers who are completely clueless about how to run a business- -themselves.
The solution, Gerber argues, is for every business owner, especially the technician-owners, to balance their business personalities. According to Gerber, every business owner needs to simultaneously be an entrepreneur and a manager as well as a technician. The technician is the worker-bee, the one who produces the product. The manager makes sure operations and finances run smoothly and consistently. The entrepreneur formulates the goals, and steers the business in the direction needed to reach those goals. Of these three personalities, the entrepreneur is key- -without it, the technician will work himself or herself to death or bankruptcy. As the business grows, the business owner will need to draw away from the technician work and manager work and delegate this work, rather than abdicate this, to others.
For turning businesses around, or getting them off the right foot, Gerber suggests looking at franchises as a model. In comparison to the dismal rate of ordinary small-business start-ups, 75% of franchises succeed at 5 years. The reason they succeed is that they are set up so that any unskilled person off the street could walk in, buy a franchise, run all operations in the franchise, and have a fairly good chance of success. The product of franchise companies is a business model, not food, hotel rooms, etc. In order to meet this level of success, franchise companies have clear operations manuals, procedures, consistent sales approaches- -every detail of running the business is specified down to dress codes and wall paper.
By asking us to consider the franchise approach, Gerber is not saying to go out and buy a franchise license. Instead, he says to imagine that you want to sell your business as a successful franchise within a finite period of time. If so, what will you need to do regarding your business plan and management in order to meet this goal? That is, if you were going to make your business fool-proof so that any unskilled person could take over as owner after a few years and succeed with it, what will you need to do?
Overall, I found the ideas in this book extremely profound and incredibly useful for my own small-business venture. The writing style can be a bit wordy and choppy at times, which is the only reason why I did not give this book full marks. If you're a small business owner whose business is out of control, stagnant, or worse, or if you're thinking of going into business yourself, this book can be of immeasurable value. The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Business Don't Work and What to Do About It
I would have to rate this is the most influential small business book I have ever read. I've been in some kind of business since I was 11 years old and probably further back than that, but I don't really remember all that. I've never held a full-time job in my life. I had one job, and it was part-time. I say that because I hope to present my review from the perspective of the "business battlefield."I first read this book in 1994. I believe it was first published in 1986. The first time I picked it up, I stayed up all night and read it all the way through. I just couldn't put it down. With that said, I need to point out that if you don't own a business, never have owned a business or never will, this book probably won't appeal to you. It will appeal to you if you already own a small business or are planning on opening a business. It may just save your sanity. It's saved mine.Basically, the point of the book is this: "Your business is not your life" (quote from the book). It took me about 4 readings of this book to figure that out. Business owners tend to think working 16 hours a day is some kind of heroic effort. It's suicide. Been there done that. There's nothing glamorous about working in your business until you fall over. How, then, does the author propose to solve this problem? How many small business owners don't work insane hours and are successful? The key according to the author is to make your business into a system like McDonald's that anyone can run. Too much of a business is dependent on the owner to be there. You're not there, the business doesn't make any money. If you're not there for an extended period of time, you won't have a business when you come back. The key factor in turning a business into a system as the author states, is to have operating manuals which describe each function of the business. One criticism I have of the book, and I suppose he did this on purpose, is that he really doesn't go into a lot of detail as to how these manuals are done. I guess we have to figure that out. The example in the book about the owner of a pie shop, I felt, was a very good example. I know, because I wrote operating manuals for my business, and I started franchising my business back in 1995. I had 15 offices up and running at one point, and I decided not to pursue it any further, so I pared it all back down. This book works, but you better be prepared to take a really long hard look at how your business is run and particulary how it fits into your life. The bottom line on this book is that you can make your business into a system. You can reduce your hours to a reasonable level. Yes, you can even make a good living in your own business. I've been doing it for years. The only problem is, you have to do it. You have to sit down, take a good hard look at your business, and get the thing built or rebuilt from the ground up. You need to have all your financial records in order. You need to know at any moment what your operating margins are, what's going on with everything. It's a big task, and I suspect many people who have read this book don't want to do all that. As for my business, I've implemented much of what he talks about with great success. I haven't implemented all of it because some of it is difficult and time consuming. The other problem is, there's no "step-by-step" method presented, at least not what one would want. There is a methodology to it, but as with most things in life, we have to adapt them to our situation and take the time to do it. The author won't take you by the hand and do it for you.I'm giving this book 5 stars because I think it provides much thought provoking material. If you own a business or are planning on going into business, this book is a must. Even if you ignore most of what he says, it will at least change the way you think about your business. For example, take the total number of hours you work in your business per week, month, year or whatever and divide that by your net business income factoring in expenses that were just for tax purposes. After you do that, find out your hourly wage. I did that, and I was shocked. If you're working 12-16 hours a day, and you're making an average income in your business or if you're breaking even, you're wasting your time. Take a day off and read this book. It will change your focus dramatically. It's not an easy process, but if you're serious about making your business work without you having to work so hard, then this book is worth every penny. Good luck in all your ventures. - Lifehack - Entrepreneurshi - Kindle - Gtd'

Martial Arts - boxing bag gloves, athletic equipment
After hearing about the quality of Everlast's products declining, I was very careful about buying something from them. But it turned out great after all. I received the package two days after ordering and was not disappointed. The wraps are long enough to fit around my hands and then some. They are very comfortable and can definately absorb a good impact. Everlast Professional Hand Wraps, 180-Inch, Black
I bought these because they are long enough to wrap my hands the way you are supposed too. After some research I found some are not long enough.
Quality is fine, at least the set I got are. I tried using just heavy bag gloves to train with, but I kept cutting my knuckles on my right hand with the fingerless gloves I bought. Grabbed these after reading a bunch, and watching some YouTube videos on proper wrapping.
So far so good, no more cut hands, and all is well. I roll them up backwards so when I'm ready to wrap my hands again I can just roll it around my hand/fingers vs. having it strung out on the floor, and untwisting it as I go. When I get to the end, the Velcro tabs are in the correct position every time so there is no guess work if I'm wrapping my hands with the wrong side up.
these are good hand wraps. there very long so you can get plenty of support when hitting your heavy bag. they provide plenty of protection to your knuckles so you don't cut them up. the bad thing about these are that the materiel there made of sticks to the Velcro straps and makes it a job just to re roll. i have a pair of hand wraps from everlast that are only 108 inches and they don't stick to the Velcro. they should of made these out of the same material. they still offer great support and are all in all great hand wraps and are highly recommended.
These are great wraps! I bought them a couple weeks ago and have yet to have any issues. They have just the right elasticity to them and they were a great price. I recommend them completely and entirely.
As other reviewers have mentioned, Everlast's quality has declined somewhat in recent years. I don't know the cause, but I know the effects: speed bags that deflate, heavy bags that rip at the seams, and bag stands that tip after only minimal punching. I think that Everlast is coasting on their image and namesake. That said, these wraps are a good product. I go all out on the heavy bag five days a week -- practicing both force and technique -- and I use the wraps when practicing on the speed bag. They have held up well for three months. My big concern was that the thumblock would tear away from the wraps, but so far this hasn't happened. I definitely recommend buying this product over the basic 108 inch wraps. Although these are labeled "professional" they really are suited for any skill level because their increased length provides greater coverage for both ones top knuckles and ones wrists. All in all, a good, basic necessity that seems to be constructed well.
I'm pretty new to bag workouts, so this is all from the perspective of a beginner, but here's what I've learned about handwraps so far- the 108" ones that come with the "starter kit" are pretty much cosmetic, even if you have small hands (I do). These give enough extra wraps to actually protect my knuckles and support my wrists. Also, they're a pain to wash, so getting a few extra pairs is a good idea. These use an antimicrobial fabric, so they don't get stinky as fast as untreated wraps, but come on- has anyone ever heard of athletic gear that smelled good? Overall, a good purchase.
Ok let me start the review honestly by saying I love Everlast and I'm a huge supporter of most of their products. They used to make really good hand warps. Im not sure what is different but I can saw durring hardcore mma their old warps held up for almost a year of VERY HARD USEAGE. However these ones fell apart after just some mild heavy bag drills maybe 10 hrs of use. Really sad to discredit Ever Last however ive been noticing that their new lines seem to be trash. These warps are trash buy something better.
I used these hand wraps three times for a one-hour boxing class at my local gym, and the velcro fastener ripped loose from the wraps almost entirely. I used them a couple more times but keeping them on tight with the velcro problem became difficult. Ordered new wraps from a different brand and hope they work better.
I bought these wraps from Dicks Sporting Goods and used them the day I bought them. They seemed to be good quality, and felt good when I had them on. Then the stitching around the velcro came apart when I took them off - and this was on the first time I used them. They were probably still usable - but I would have expected them to last more than one workout.
I contacted Everlast to let them know and to give them an opportunity to correct what I assumed was a manufacturing error - but they were apparently unconcerned that I had a defective product since I did not buy it directly from them. I mistakenly thought they would stand behind the the quality of their product without caring if I bought it from a sporting goods store, directly from them, or from Amazon.
I would not recommend this product and have doubts about the current quality of Everlast products in general.
Given that most boxing gloves these days have velcro straps, whose bright idea was it to make the entire length of these handwraps prone to sticking to velcro?
They tie very well and they're rather elastic, but you have to put a lot of yardage over your wrists to keep it tight. I have another pair of Title handwraps that I actually like much better. They don't stick to velcro and it only takes 2 or 3 wraps around the wrist to keep the wrist straight rather than the 10 or so you need with these.
The velcro issue, though, is a huge pain. I wouldn't recommend these. - Boxing - Athletic Equipment - Boxing Gloves - Boxing Bag Gloves'

These are movies to watch if you just want to have an enjoyable evening. Angelina Jolie was born to play Lara Croft. Watching her explore all these beautiful locations and kick butt at the same time is always a lot of fun to watch. I own both movies and they're probably the most played DVDs I have. Lara Croft - Tomb Raider / Lara Croft - Tomb Raider, The Cradle of Life
My children are finally at the age where they are interested in Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider series. This double feature is great bang for the buck at nearly 1/3 the price of individual purchases. Enjoy!
"The Cradle of Life" is not generally available in blu ray for Region 1. This is an EU version which may be played on Region 1 blu ray player. The subtitle is in German only. There is no English subtitle. The menu is in German only. The audio is available in English or German, however.
It would be nice if:
1. all future blu ray and DVD are "Region" free;
2. the manuafacturer should upgrade their manufacturing quality standards around the globe; and
3. there is language option for both menu and subtitle.
These are good movie. Highly recommended. - Video Game To Movie - Action Adventure - Dvd - Adventure'

Drill Holster - tool holsters
Most of you are probably familiar now with the metal bigg lugg tool holder originally designed for cordless tools particularly drills.
WELL - Things have even gotten BETTER! The fine folks at bigg lugg have come up with the "Bigg Lugg 2", sad to say my original big luggs are going to be sitting in the trailer quite a bit now.
Listen UP! if you are a carpenter, sheet rocker, plumber, electrician or any other construction trade you need to check these things out.
The keystone of this system is a unique belt clip with a cushioned non slip design that you can easily position on your belt or tool belt. Then an ingenious bungee strap securely fastens around your tool handle, it can be used for left hand or right hand applications.
Furthermore, it adapts to odd handle shapes even hammer handles, when positioned near the head of the hammer. The retaining system utilizes a special cone/ball combination that allows it to connect easily with the belt clip. This unique ball and socket connection allows free movement of the tool when you are walking or climbing a ladder or scaffolding, while still allowing incredibly fast access to the tool when needed.
I highly reccomend this product and applaude the creativity that went into it's design.
ps - I am going to be ordering a couple of their NEW ladder luggs and will provide further info after I have had time to field test them.
jim Bigg Lugg BL2-3BM 2 Belt Clip Tool Holding System with 3 Bungee-Balls
This is a great doo-dad; it works perfectly (as opposed to the original hook, which I could never seem to find with the tool, couldn't seem to get the tool off of, and was always falling off or getting hooked on something). One initial problem I had with it was that I didn't like the space it takes on cordless drill/driver handles. Solution was to replace the drill strap with the bungee. To make it perfect I shortened the bungee length about 2 1/2" by popping the red cap off, pulling the bungee ends out and recrimping one end shorter (hack the cord out of the crimp and enlarge it by driving a punch into it). Now the drill/driver doesn't wack my thigh.
The new Bigg Lugg is a vast improvement over the original version. Although handy, the original was obtrusive in the open position, regularly getting caught on things. The new model has eliminated that problem. We purchased them for all of our Maintenance personnel and have had many compliments on the design changes.
I thoroughly tested the bigg lugg 2 for about two weeks and the bottom line is, the product is a great concept but in reality does not work well at all. The bungees stay wrapped around your tool and the holder stays on your belt. the bungees on the tool
had to be adjusted to fit the tool into their tool cases, which became a headache real fast. I tested the bungees on makitas 14.4v impact driver, milwaukees v28 hammer drill and the paslode
angled finish nailer. On all but the finish nailer the bungee was always in the way of my normal grip on the tool, you grip the tool and the bungee becomes part of the grip handle-very uncomfortable.
The manufacturer recomends that for lefties you position the ball to the right and for righties the opposite. This does not work well at all as positioning the ball anywhere but the dead back of the tool forces the tools bit to dig right into your leg as it hangs, and dead back position prevents you from gripping the tool, also if you ever switch hands for use,the ball prevents you from grabbing the tool and you have to swing the ball to the other side of the tool, not at all user friendly.
That was enough to nix this product for me but there is more.
You will notice that with the bungees your tool swings to and fro as you walk to the point of annoyance, especially with the paslode nailer attached, and dont jump or hop over anything the ball will pop right out of the holder and let your tool come crashing to the ground.
As I said earlier when the day is over you will need to re-position the bungees to get your tools to fit in their cases.
I went back to big lugg 1 "the hook" it is far superior in function to the bungees.
Have been re-modeling my kitchen and using the Bigg Lugg 2 belt clip for weeks now. What a great product! Easy to use and doesn't get in the way of tight spaces.
I wrapped the bungee cords on three tools and just left on permanently. One on a 14v cordless drill, one on a stapler, and one on a caulk gun. You can even hold smaller tools if you put a knot in the bungee to tighten it up.
I received my first Bigg Lugg 2 via a trade show, and I know the company has more products coming (see my review of their Ladder Lugg). Now I'm ordering another, and maybe soon, more bungees.
As a non-professional carpenter, I need all the help I can get. This system makes every job, go smoother.
This small light weight gadget is great, I have been using this product for years now and it has saved me alot of time and money in the form of replacing tools that have broken because they have fallen to the floor after balancing them on a ladder. I suggest getting two in case you break or lose one.
this is great, secures the drill, nail gun tight on the belt hook. love it!
Note will not support a framing nailer, also be careful where you put the hook on your belt. to the side or back is best. If on front when bending over the drill pops out.
From a Builder in Australia. We are building a complicated Timber roof frame and spend a lot of time up high.
Each carpenter and labourer has a holder. For Makita impact drivers and cordless drills .Climbing over the roof frame with hands free and tools secured and available for use . Pretty comfortable , if you don't mind the extra weight on your hips .We love them. - Tool Holsters'

Break The Ice - fun, family game
This game was recommended to us by another group of friends who loved it! This game is definitely meant to be played by people who don't mind sharing some information about themselves. At first, you think the game is all about self-disclosure, but eventually, the competitive side of you comes to the realization, it can be all about stretching the truth a bit. The questions are hysterical, and have given us much amunition to constantly tease each other about answers given. Questions to the group range from "If you could rid the earth of 3 creatures, which 3 would you dispose of?" or "On a scale of 1-10, how hard of a worker are you?" The person reading the question then has to guess who answered in which way. Sometimes there is a reversal, and everyone in the group has to guess how the person reading the question would answer. Lots of fun, for a variety of groups...I have played with friends, colleagues and family! Loaded Questions
We originally purchased this game for game nights with friends of ours. The questions supplied (there is an expansion box of questions available now, too) ask a wide variety of questions that will really open up your inner workings to your fellow players if you are honest. Overall, we have gotten more enjoyment and entertainment by just taking out the cards and reading them aloud, pondering the answers given. Questions like "What is your favorite beer" are easy, toss-up questions, but the more diffcult, introspective questions are the real meat of what makes the game more interesting. This game is best suited for adults, and would make a great party game for any kind of game night when you finally get tired of Trivial Pursuit or Cranium, themselves excellent, wonderful games.
I absolutely adore this game. A bunch of my friends and I get together every once in a while and this is a favorite for us.I have to admit, we don't always follow the rules. We tend to ask whichever question on the card we like (out of four choices) and most times we are having so much fun we race not just to the finish but also back again to the start. How does it work? Well. very simply. Every one takes turns moving around the board ad whatever color you land on, you ask that question (or not - as we play) Everyone writes down their answer, someone reads them to you and you guess who wrote what. As many as you get right, that's how far forward you go. There are a couple of reversals, a couple of short cuts, but it's pretty straight forward. So why is it so much fun that I have literally peed myself and also literally fallen on the floor laughing? There are just a lot of open ended questions, like "What are you most afraid of" "Who in this room snores the loudest" and frankly, my friend's don't take themselves terribly seriously. So we get raunchy or witty or tricky, and have a blast doing it.I guess in the final analysis, the game is as much fun as you make it, but heck, in this narcissistic society of ours, what better way is there to spend an evening except by talking about yourself and your friends for hours on end? Beats the heck out of checkers!
Overall "Loaded Questions" is not a bad game, but it lacks the type of questions I had expected. Really the game in concept and organization is fine, but some of the questions are simply boring not "loaded". For example: "What kind of deodorant do you wear?" and "How many pairs of jeans do you own?" would fall into the `who cares' category for me. We played the other night with friends and finally got so tired of the boring questions we started making up our own. We had a few good laughs out of the games questions, but really had fun with some seriously loaded questions. However, I would like to see a version of this game with truly loaded questions and less questions that I could care less about. I would say this game is great for early teens but lacks the punch for adults.
We just had a bunch of people over the other night and tested this game out for the first time. I'll say this - not a dry eye in the house. We laughed so hard it made us cry. With this game, you learn things about people you never knew - and you test your knowledge of your closest friends.
If you like party games - this is the one for you. We are all in our mid-late 20's and I think that's the best age group for this type of game although anyone from teenagers all the way up will enjoy it.
If you're thinking about it - JUST GET IT!
I usually don't write reviews for products, and am doing so only out of sheer love for this particular game. As can be easily gathered from other reviews, Loaded Questions simply involves navigating a playing board and reading the question on a drawn card corresponding to the color you landed on. The categories don't seem to matter. All are fun.
At this point the roller asks the question, and everyone else at the table answers it. This is the only game I've played where it's more fun to play during an opponents' turn, particularly if you and your family are creative.
It's fun to answer the questions honestly, but much more fun and challenging to goof around, and even if you do the game remains entirely playable. If members of your family and friends give you sassy answers of questionable integrity, knowing them well enough you can still guess by their sense of humor who said what.
Now onto the bad, which really doesn't need detract from the game. There are some questions which simply have the players answer something on a scale from 1 to 10. These questions aren't a lot of fun to answer, are difficult to guess, and generally we just skip them when playing. In addition to this, there are a very few questions that may be either slightly inappropriate for kids, or just not possible to answer. Questions about dating and kissing and such. These are very rare though. (I've seen one of each.) The least appropriate question I've seen asks what the players' favorite body part is. It can be taken innocently enough, but the game is obviously begging for certain answers.
Overall, the game is a blast, and even more so if you're willing to be creative with it. - Games - Board Game - Family Game - Fun'
