Cordless String Trimmer - cordless weed whacker, cordless string trimmer

I think this is perfect for someone who really:1) dislikes the noise and smell of the gas trimmers2) wants something fairly light3) does not want a cord to always worry about4) already has firestorm or B&D 18 volt products (batteries are interchangeable)I have used all 3 types of trimmers, gas, 120 wired, and this cordless one and I have to say the convenience is great. Instant on with a press of the switch is great. The plastic is a bit cheap feeling but it seems to do the work. I think it could've been much better constructed, but the battery life is pretty impressive and the speed/torque of the trimmer is also pretty impressive on a well grown/groomed lawn. It did have a bit of trouble instantly tackling a thick busy section of grass but after going over it 2-3 passes...it took care of it. This same spot has given me trouble even with the corded 120 volt version from Toro so this was expected. The gas one I had chewed through it easily but that's gas...I think for light to moderate work, it's fine. If you have thorny and thick undergrowth or even small plants with a fibrous stem, it'll take more work to get down than a gas.Oh..if you even TRY to 'bump and feed' this unit, you will find the spool falls off VERY easily with a solid thump to the bottom (THAT was a pain in the as* as it flew off and unwound a ton of filament that I had to rewind by hand and figure out how to put it back on!If you have 18 volt black and decker goods like I do, then you'll REALLY like having the two extra batteries and one extra charger. I have 4 batteries and 2 chargers amongst all the goodies now so I know i'll always have more than enough juice for anything around the house.I would vote 5 stars, but the plastic has a cheapy feel. Black & Decker NST2018 Grass Hog 12-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer with 2 Batteries

I just bought the B&D NST2018 trimmer along with the NS118 cordless blower. I have a corner lot with long parkways and a lot of sidewalk footage, and have grown tired of dealing with up to 175 feet of extension cables for my corded trimmer and blower. I've had a nice battery-powered mower for several years, and felt it was time to go all cordless. This new pair of tools seemed promising, particularly because of the removable battery design. After only one use I can say I'm reasonably satisfied, but not fully sold.Handling: This is probably one of the lightest cordless trimmers available and is easy to handle. The automatic feed system looks similar to the ones in other B&D models and seems to work properly. The shaft length is adjustable and the cutting head flips over for vertical edging.Power: The trimmer is clearly not as powerful as my corded one. It deals with grass and light ground cover adequately, but has a hard time on anything with thick stems. Not recommended for whacking big stuff.Battery: The batteries are compact. The trimmer comes with two of them, and I needed them both to complete one job. I guess I'm okay with this approach. It makes sense to lug around only as much weight as is necessary rather than carry a much heavier battery the whole time. If you buy this along with a blower as I did, you'll have four batteries and two chargers available for swapping. And if you happen to have a FireStorm 18v drill, you can apparently swap batteries with that system as well.Quality: Build quality seems similar to most B&D stuff, meaning it will probably work for a few years.Overall: Going cordless does simplify my work and save me time, but this tool isn't appropriate for all trimming jobs. I have a month to make up my mind about keeping it. But even if it passes muster, I suspect I'll want to hang onto my corded trimmer for the occasional heavy job.

I got this trimmer to replace a 14" corded Grasshog. Getting the cord out and dragging it around is a hassle. I had a cheap gas weedeater before and I could never get it to start, just ended up with a sore arm from pulling the cord. So I opted for this model. My first impression was that its wimpy. The string is almost too short. The battery drains quickly. It would be useless if 2 batteries were not included. But, it trims my 1/3 acre yard with hardly any juice left in the second battery. So, it does the job, but if you let your yard go for a few weeks plan on spending the weekend getting it back under control with the wimpy trimmer and anemic batteries. The auto feed, edger guide, and no cord are its best attibutes.

I bought this trimmer because my old toro 7" 6 volt cordless trimmer finally died. This one has a ton more power, and the one I bought came with two batteries. The batteries are of the type that you can leave on the charger without damamging them, they are kept at full charge. I got about 30 minutes of continuous use out of the batter after its first 9 hour charge. Subsequent charges take 3 to 6 hours. The unit is also lighter in weight than several other models and the adjustable shaft is nice because my wife and I both use it and we differ in height by several inches so we can both use it compfortably.

A new era of my life was begun this summer when I bought my own grass trimmer/edger and lawn mower. After five years of hiring one lawn service after another, I decided to mow and tidy my own lawn. Mind you, I am a senior citizen on the young end, a woman, and not a lover of machines with sharp edges that I must handle (not the edges, the machine). Just to make sure I could do this, I borrowed my brother's equipment. He showed me how to use them and I buzzed away.

On July 4th, I declared independence from lawn services by buying my own lawn mower and grass trimmer. I was nervous at first, but now I get out there and have the best time.

Here are the reasons that I like this particular trimmer (Black and Decker 18-volt cordless electric 12-inch Hog String Trimmer/Edger):

1. It is electric! That means no cord! When I was using my brother's corded unit, I kept thinking, wow, the person who invents a cordless unit will make a ton of money.

2. Other reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with the cordless machine because it was not strong enough or didn't last long enough or took too long to charge. Here are my findings:

a. Strong enough to do my job--didn't find this complaint true for me

b. I couldn't believe the unit faded out just as I finished. True, a yard any larger would require more charging.

c. The instructions say to keep the unit on the charger all the time. My unit is always ready to go when I am!

3. One of my biggest complaints about lawn services and one which they totally ignored me concerning was stripping the grass blades to just strings. These poor blades never got over the shock nor did they ever grow again. Since the lower part of my yard slopes, rain water washes the top layer of soil down the yard every time, creating a barren look. I could never get the grass to build up or soil to stay put. There are no stripped blades now!! The same is true wherever they trimmed: along brick edgers, around night lamp, and the area around my gigantic oak tree. Grass now grows right up to the roots which project from the trunk.

When I want to edge, I flip that shield over and edge away. Of course, one should always wear protective goggles.

Another great aspect of this trimmer is its spools of string. When I used my brother's, I had to restring the unit several times because the string became loose. My unit has already-strung spools to go with it. I can't believe how wonderfully this works! And no more bad words!

This trimmer is incredible and works only as well as the person in control! Plus, best bonus--my yard looks great! - Cordless String Trimmer - Trimmer - Black And Decker - Cordless Weed Whacker'

Self-defense - shooting, concealed carry

This book is very logical. It explains concepts with details. This is an easy to understand book. It does not have a lot of technical terms that might confuse the readers. This is definitely a useful book and very well priced. Surviving the Street: Guide to Concealed Carry of a Firearm

This is the best of best because it use language, it s very simple and very easy to understand.and it describe some law point very practical way. And give some idea of how to dealing with some unexpected things .

I recently decided to get my CCW for self defense and started looking for books on shooting to help me out. A lot of the books out there look a little to "gear" or "tactical" and I was interested in something more practical. I wasn't sure what to buy, but for this price, Surviving the Street seemed like a no brainer.

Fortunately, the book is great! It was easy to read and was filled with practical advice on how, when and why to carry a firearm for self defense. It taught me a lot, and I now realize I have a lot more to learn. I highly recommend this book. If the author writes any additional books on concealed carry (or shooting at all), I'm in for one! - Concealed Carry - Guns - Shooting - Self-defense'

While this is not the product of the century or one that will make the top ten list in many peoples minds, this is indeed a great product if you need to know what your current draw and power consumption is on a given appliance. It should be noted that this unit should not be used on high amperage load units such as a refrigerator or an air conditioner, it does have a great function for the miriad of smaller units such as your computer current usage, the display consumption such as a plasma and yes even a LCD since they are getting so large that consumption is up on these as high if not higher than plasmas with the newer power saving electronics.

This is a great item to evaluate reducing your "carbon footprint" and finding what products achieve that end. It is also an incredible unit to document the power reduction in properly setting/calibrating TVs/Flat Panels/projectors and such. Studies have shown that properly calibrated displays can have a 20,30, and even 40 percent reduction in energy usage, and this unit can help document the changes.

The Watts Up Pro requires a computer or notebook to run the software that is available from the company to chart, graph, and spreadsheet the measured parameters. If you are serious about tracking and analyzing your power consumption, then this reasonably priced unit will help you achieve it. Watts Up Pro AC Power Meter

If you want to measure an appliance that draws constant power, you can use P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor. However for appliances that draws large current some of the time, and low current some other time, you would have to sit around watching the kill-a-watt for hours, in order to measure how long it stays in the high power mode, and how long in the low power mode. This is not practical.

This device watts up is equivalent to kill-a-watt plus "sitting around watching for hours", so you can measure how much electricity is used by an appliance in a given amount of time.

The device has 5 modes: watts, watt hours, time, cost, volts, amps. In the watts mode you can check the watts, the minimum watts (over a span of time), maximum watts, etc. You can only see one reading at a time, cycling through them using the select button. The most useful mode is the time mode -- it measures duty cycle.

There is no direct way to tell what mode you're in. You have to look at the clues in the display. Basically you memorize how each measurement is displayed, and memorize which mode that measurement belongs to. If you don't remember (like after not using it for a few weeks), time to consult the manual. It is a free download from the manufacturer. There is also a quick reference showing all the modes and the measurements taken by each. However the quick reference doesn't show the display, so if you're lost not knowing which mode you're in or how to get to a certain mode, you still need to check the full manual. Come on, watts up with these people? A $120 device should have a friendlier user interface -- at least a mode indicator.

I use it to check the duty cycle of dehumidifiers at various humidity settings. I haven't used the USB features.

Easy to set up if you have a recent electricity bill on hand. Able to compute average monthly costs based on your current rate. Our electricity rates change for the summer so I will have to remember to change it.

I tested it on my laptop power supply for fun and could see when the battery was charging and how often. (Total power requirement negligible.)

Now to test my 11 year old air conditioner. - Green 3 - Power Monitor - S Up Pro Es - Kilowatt Utilization'

29) The Obsolete Man - In a state where religion and books are ban, a librarian is judged obsolete and sentenced to death. Twilight Zone Season 2 [HD]

If you hopped on board for season 1's definition edition, you probably don't need much convincing to pick this one up either. It's a great deal cheaper than season 1 (though there are less episodes in this season) but packs a lot of punch considering the high benchmark set for the show's debut season. There are a great number of gems with very few clunkers sprinkled in.

Among the episodes collected here are two of the series' most poignant social commentaries in "The Obsolete Man" (with Burgess Meredith) and "Eye of the Beholder" (probably the most infamous episode in all of TZ lore). To make things more varied, the second season also brought us some lighter fare like "Mr. Dingle the Strong" and "A Penny for Your Thoughts". We also get the TZ debut of Shatner in "Nick of Time" and its companion piece "The Silence", both notable episodes for containing no real supernatural elements yet keeping very much in the spirit of the Twilight Zone. And some of the best-loved episodes of all, the flawless "One Hundred Yards Over the Rim" (featuring audio commentary with star Cliff Robertson, Oscar winner for "Charly" and 'Uncle Ben' in "Spiderman"); "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?" (a brilliant ensemble piece driven by atmosphere); and "Shadow Play" (one of the most overlooked episodes in the series).

Season two also brought about budget restraints, which lowered the total number of episodes and caused several to be shot on videotape. Few other shows could have gotten away with this approach, and the videotaped episodes include a heartwarming Christmas-themed "Night of the Meek" that sees Art Carney becoming Santa Claus and "Twenty-Two", which suffers through probably the worst special effect in the history of television. If you haven't seen it; I dare not spoil it for you.

Boasting remastered hi-def film transfers from original camera negatives and magnetic soundtracks as well as continuing the tradition of restoring the "Next Week" teasers from Serling as they belong in the broadcasts (even those that ended up with Serling holding a pack of Oasis Cigarettes and puffing away -- priceless!), season 2 is yet another excursion into the Twilight Zone that will offer something that even diehards will not have seen or heard yet.

Commentaries include:

* Billy Mumy & William Idelson on "The Long Distance Call" (Videotaped episode. Mumy's other TZ credit is as the legendary Anthony Fremont in "It's a Good Life", which he has recorded an additional commentary for to look forward to in season 3's set. Idelson had acted in a season 1 episode but actually wrote this episode himself, though Charles Beaumont is credited with co-writing it -- Idelson goes into a bit of detail in regards to this. Meanwhile, Mumy shares stories about his mother's hesitance to let him star in such a morbid episode and informs us that he went to high school with 'TZ Companion' author Marc Scott Zicree himself!)

* Cliff Robertson on "One Hundred Yards Over the Rim" (Understated time travel episode -- Oscar Winner Robertson's performance is incredibly real here. His commentary is less than animated than the one mentioned above, but still enjoyable as he talks about the 9-page report on the character that he had written himself before shooting began, the "controversy" over the tophat he wore, and even lets us know he's writing the script for "Charly 2"!)

* Dennis Weaver on "Shadow Play"

* Shelley Berman on "The Mind and the Matter" (Truly a ridiculous episode and, in true TZ fashion, becomes enjoyable for exactly that reason.)

* Donna Douglas on "The Eye of the Beholder" (Not the voice -- except for some dialogue at the end that didn't require her to be overdubbed -- but the infamous face in this episode -- and later Ellie Mae of "The Beverly Hillbillies" notoriety.)

* Don Rickles on "Mr. Dingle the Strong" (great to see the "Merchant of Venom" contributing an audio commentary)

Also included are original production slates for the 6 videotaped episodes. These are small videotaped clips of the guy with the production slate in hand, calling out the show name, production number, take and then "Action!" Might seem like a minor inclusion, but really helps lend credibility to a set that calls itself "definitive". Really, it's the little things that can make a huge difference. We get all of this content, plus the Mike Wallace Interview with Rod Serling (a marvelous piece originally available on one of the "Treasures..." discs), Serling appearances on "Tell it to Groucho" and "The Jack Benny Show", another wave of TZ radio dramas & isolated original scores, plus a DVD-ROM script of "Twenty-Two" with Serling's notes and a lot more audio interviews contributed by "TZ Companion" author Marc Scott Zicree all add up to make this the second installment of "Must-Buy TV". As a person who looks for hidden treasures away from the "new release" section, this book is a treasure in itself. We only got it a couple of weeks ago, and we've already seen several films from it- Let it Ride with Richard Dreyfuss and The Tall Guy with Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson. Both were worth the price of the book.If you want to try going off the well-beaten path for a movie once in a while, this is the book for you. Enjoy!! The 100 Best Films to Rent You've Never Heard Of: Hidden Treasures, Neglected Classics, and Hits From By-Gone Eras

David Meyer manages to say just enough about each of these 100 films to whet your appetite without sounding pedantic or critical. He provides categorizations of the films (so that you don't accidentally rent a Screwball Comedy when you're in the mood for a Psychological Thriller), and he points out interesting things to watch for in each film without ruining any of the fun of discovering a film for yourself (i.e. he never reveals the ending for you). Films (as he says) you've "never heard of", and even some you may have but have never gotten around to renting, are made to sound inviting, and I can vouch for all five of the suggestions I have taken so far: these _are_ great films, and a great book. BTW, those of you worried that this book only contains "art" films or boring dramas, take note that TWO John Woo films and a selection of comedies are among the wide range of genre and category covered in this book. Meyer even includes other selections indexed by director, so that the book really contains far more than 100 suggestions. If you've ever wandered the halls of your local Video Monster or Tape Barn, thinking "What the heck am I going to rent THIS time?", this book can surely point you in the right direction. Indispensible for anyone with a VCR

David Meyer, in his book, accomplishes what other movie critics fail to even remotely understand. In his own unpretentious way, he lifts the craft of film criticism to the same lofty heights as literary criticism. And if he continues to produce works of the same quality, he may reflect the soul of cinema as well as Northrope Frye revealed the soul of Shakespeare. In other words, David Meyer as a critic has become an artist himself.Taken collectively, Mr. Meyer's essays in this book act as a thread which, when followed, will take you into the heart of cinema. The journey best begins with Black Narcissus - a film about which Mr. Meyer writes, "rent me first." Black Narcissus is the dream we have all experienced. It sits on the edge of our consciousness like a beautiful stained glass window, allowing the light of the soul to shine through in its many colors. And after you've watched the movie several times, you may find that Black Narcissus has the symmetry of a diamond - each time you look at it, a particular facet of the story will reflect light in a slightly different, yet beautiful, way. From there, I would use your own intuition to decide the next film listed in his book. Perhaps, your intuition will lead you, as it did me, to the film noir classic, In a Lonely Place and then to the creative genius of The Thief of Baghdad. Or it will take you somewhere else. It's your voyage - I'd just use Mr. Meyer has your navigator. This last point illuminates what lies behind all of Mr. Meyer's reviews - trust. In my opinion, he'll guide you in such a way that you won't end up crashing against the rocks, caught up watching movies that are of no value or, worse yet, ones that unconsciously pull you down into the dark waters. You can rely on his judgment to avoid the bad trip and fully experience the brilliant world of movies.

The casual viewer of Turner Classic Movies who finds Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt a revelation or Wilder's Sunset Boulevard an undiscovered masterpiece will be pleased, but the serious student of film will find no surprises here. All of these films are well known and appreciated in some way by those who truly love motion pictures as an art form rather than something you rent at Blockbuster because you've nothing better to do. The person who refers to a film as a "great flic" will be thrilled by the mysterious treasures they find within these pages. However, if you are aware that directors existed before Spielberg and Cameron and that motion pictures once were silent, filmed in black and white, and popular before 1977, then do not disappoint yourself by purchasing this elementary guide for the elementary "movie fan."

This book features many greats, but those who have already been into film for quite some time will definately have seen most of these movies. I'm 14 and I've seen about half of these films, I own a couple others, and I've certainly heard of all of them. Nonetheless, this is a great book for the beginner movie buff.

The product seemed a little lacking - contrary to the title, many of the movies it suggested were vaguely mainstream. It came on time and in good shape, and it did give me many ideas for what to see, but it's not the greatest "best movies" book I've seen.

This is a wonderful little book, with great suggestions that are very easy to read. Each movie gets a page, and a plot synopsis. I just worked through it and checked everyone I wanted to see. So far I have discoved some wonderful treasures! Buy one for your friends as well.

Very interesting, provocative and varied; admittedly, some of the films are extremely well known to buffs and thus do not fit the "never heard of" label, but it is a great start for a Netflix queue or a Blockbuster trip. Unfortunately, since many of these are minor classics, many Blockbuster stores won't stock them -- you need a specialty video store.

this book is hilarious. i would buy it for his review of "predator" alone. a review book you actually read for entertainment. the movies are good too but like some other people say here: if you like movies you've probably heard of most of them. don't let that overshadow how great it is. even if i'd heard of them, i hadn't seen all of them and it gave me a reason to watch them. - Cinephiles - Film Guides - Criticism - Guides'

Golf Pants - ultimate, wicking

Nice pants, great material. Good for spring and fall golf. Here's the problem with these pants and for me this is a MAJOR problem: The bottom of the pants legs are very narrow and will not fall over your golf shoes. Instead, they just bunch up at the tops of your shoes. You look like a fool on the course! I'm not a big fashion guy but I know enough to know that the style for the past 10 years has been for your golf slacks to fall effortlessly over your shoes. Doesn't happen with these pants I'm sorry to say. Other than that, very nice golf pants. Adidas makes great golf stuff. Adidas climalite flat front pants black 40w 32l - Ultimate - Wicking'

Surf Fishing - rod, fishing rod

The TU-150 is 15' long. It is 3 pieces. I own 2 and bought my 3rd on 11/9/10 on Amazon.

The rod is phenomenal. I recommend you litely sand all connecting points for the joints so that the sections do not stick together because they will... after sanding rub surfer's "SEX WAX" for surf boards around the connecting joints (inside/outside as applicble). This rod casts about 30% further than my 12' surf rods and I use it in extreme surf with heavier weights OR when I just want to cast as far as any human being can cast a weight and a bait...no kidding.... I am able to cast 12 and 14 ounce weights with this rod in extreme conditions and I can cast an 8 ounce weight so far I have had other surf fishermen watch in awe. I fish for Stripers and Blues on Long Beach Island N.J. and this rod is great. Clean it after every use, treat it well and enjoy it.

Put a good reel on it, big reel recommended as this is a big rod. Nice tip action does not lie, tells you when a fish is messing with your bait. It takes a bit of muscle and skill to cast this beast and I love mine (all 3).....they make surf fishing even more fun !. Enjoy !.

-ARTIE STOUT Okuma Fishing TU-150 Tundra 15-Foot 3-Piece Surf/Pier Spinning Rod (Large, White/Blue)

Great rod perfect for fishing off the shore and the lightweight and durable for any type of fisherman. I've been fishing for 15 years and i've found

no problems with rod and for the price you can't go wrong

The ad said two piece but it is a three piece rod. I have another similar rod that also is three piece, not bad but wanted a two piece. Two problems with rod, the sections stuck together and I had a hard time getting them apart. Actually two did not come apart the second time I used it. Also it developed a small crack at the joint, about 1/8" long. It has a good feel when fishing with it and I liked the eye that lays down when transporting. I own a lot of Okuma equipment for surf fishing and this rod is the only item I am not thoroughly pleased with.

Pros:

It is long 15' and that gives better casting distance

The first guide has a large diameter so the line travels easily

Compared to other surf rods guide diameters are larger including the last guide which I believe adds more distance to the casting

Rod color white is better when fishing at night to detect bites without using bells or led light

Stronger rod blanks

Non slip thick rubber grips and their positioning is better for distance or power casting

The rod action is very good for distance casting

Cons:

Sections stick together extremely hard to remove

Guide materials tends to rust easily

Reel seat has a minor play to it further tightening will damage some rubber around it.

Pole is heavier and thick in diameter

Very short insert points in sections (probably cost minimization in manufacturing process) it is a major disadvantage on this rod

Short insertion points in sections may have made them fatter to make section joins stronger but sometimes totally impossible to remove sections

Rating:

4 stars

Experience:

My good experiences are tainted with bad experiences. I had virtually impossible to detach rod sections.

Drove few hours to get to the high tide in one of the best surfs ended up with rod sections stucked together with guides facing opposite directions.

Let alone that I could not even bring it back home as it not fit in the car without removing sections.

Word of warning when assembling do not press sections hard together it will create a vacuum (just like clapping with cupped hands). Make slowly and gently go in (bit hard though).

If sections stucked together then remove the reel completely and hold rod 70 degrees to the earth surface (10 o'clock facing west) from the bottom section then go shake the rod hard to loosen the joints.

If above did not work flatten out the rod on a table and lightly clamp the MALE section (WARNING do not clamp tight) use thick rugs on clamping area to avoid any damages to the rod paint work. Lightly make three taps around the edge of the joint in order to press the female section slide out use a very blunt object like a cold chisel (not a sharp object) and a light hammer.

Why I rate 4 is mainly due to reasonable prize and the action of the rod.

It's big!!!...but that's why you order it. For the price, I don't know how they can sell it for ~ $35. Surprisingly well made for an inexpensive 15' surf rod. Casts a mile, but not for someone with a cardiac condition, as you will work. I have it paired with a 30 lb. test Daiwa 9000C and with some practice, it will sling it past the far break +. Recommend for someone looking to try distance surf casting.

I usually surf fish in close with a grub or Gulp; perch, corbina, croaker, halibut on a light spinning rig ~ 6-8 lb test, 7.5 ft. rod. With this 15 footer I cast out a piece of bait, put it in a holder and then use the fun light tackle for perch, etc., while I wait for something further out to hit this rig and ring the rod tip bell. In SoCal that usually means a small leopard shark or a ray. Fun

this is a great rod for surf fishing. action is perfect and the rod is strong. i took it to malibu for a little surf fishing and had no problems landing a leapord shark. ive got it paired with a okuma abf 90. i liked it so much i ordered a 12 footer with a abf 60.

This may or may not have been the seller. But there is a part of me that is pretty sure it was. The rod came to me in a box that had been taped together. At first I thought the post office did it, but the tape used to 'repair' the box was the same tape that was originally used for shipping. The pole arrived broken and two rings werent bent severely. Fortunately - Amazon took care of replacement relatively quickly. But I would definitely advise opening up your box from them IMMEDIATELY to see if it's in good shape. The pole is definitely killer for the price. It's not the best pole I have, but for the money I wouldn't be able to get better. - Okuma - Rod - Fishing Rod'

Lego Star Wars - lego star wars, video games

My twin 4-year olds got a DS, with this game, for Christmas. We never intended to get them a video game at all (for several more years, at least), but it was a gift from a beloved aunt, so what can you do? So we let them play it, now and then, and somewhat to my astonishment, they were both able to play it very well within a few hours of starting. What's particularly interesting is that neither of them can read, or even close (recognize letters is about it), or knew anything about Star Wars, but they manage just fine. Since then, they've seen at least three other DS games, but most of them require reading, or are too boring for them. With this one, there are a lot of words, but none of them matter--they just run around in Star Wars land, chopping up things and people with joyful abandon until we tear the games from their still-twitching hands. They can even play together, wirelessly; this does a really good *cooperative* multiplayer game (they're not fighting each other, so they don't get mad at each other, or competitive with each other). Their 10-year-old friend also has it, and loves it too. And I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that my wife and I sneak the games out of their chargers at night, and play it two-person almost every night after the kids are in bed. To top it all off, their grandmother just bought a DS, after watching them play this, so she can join in the fun. Truly, an enjoyable game for *all* ages--three generations in this household!--and the best *cooperative* multiplayer game I've seen since Sega Genesis Toejam & Earl. What a great present! Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

I love this game so much! its awesome! A++++++ It does get annoying that you have to complete the level before saving but it's fun. If you have the other star wars don't bother. (lego, i mean) It's basically both together. great game! i recommend it!! You save $$ buying the complete saga rather than the other two seperate.

This game is incredibly fun and I love playing it on my DS. I only have one issue and it's because I've played the PS2 version, which doesn't have this quirk: you have to complete a level before you save, which is a little annoying since the levels can be long if you're trying to get all the studs.

TT Fusion was able to pull off a great translation of LSW:TCS for DS (when keeping in mind the limitations of DS hardware).

If you love the franchise and cannot get enough of it on the next gen platforms, pick up the DS version. The levels are recognizable, but different enough to give a fresh experience.

I found none of the bugs that plagued the LSWII DS version in this one as it was built from scratch thankfully.

The DS version keeps True Jedi gold bricks for both Story mode and Free Play mode. I prefer this over the new approach with next gen LSW:TCS using a new challenge mode in replacement of a True Jedi.

Criticism: TT Fusion should have gone with a larger cartridge size so they could have had the room needed to make all 36 main levels (instead of only 30), improved some levels like Speeder Showdown to be closer to the original, and have smoother cut-scenes. The extras like Indiana Jones and good outdoor Cantina area are missing. There is a lot less incentive to collect all gold bricks.

Overall this title has set the standard for 3D DS action games. I look forward to more developments from TT Fusion.

I own both the PC versions of the trilogys and wasn't sure if the DS version would be as good.

Well, it is.

I have had so much fun playing the levels. I was hoping that I could play the game entirely with the stylus, but after a few levels I didn't even notice. One thing is that there are more levels per film in the PC versions. I believe they skip several levels here, so that there are six levels per film (i.e. A New Hope or Phantom Menace) instead of the ten or so in the PC versions. However, after playing the game and "unlocking" it, thus enableing "free play", you are able to go in with new characters and play a much longer and extended level. Loads of fun. Very cool. Nice graphics. The levels are very close to the PC version, but there are differences to make it new. Also, new mini games not in the PC version make for a very good very cool buy. It's worth the money.

The last time that the mega popular Lego Star Wars series appeared on the DS was also the first time for the series with Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Sadly, that game was a big disappointment on the DS, but thankfully, things have started anew with Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. With a different development team at the helm, those bad memories of the DS version of Lego Star Wars II become ever distant as the gameplay is re-started from scratch. Playing through all six episodes of the Star Wars saga hasn't been this much fun on a handheld in a while, featuring a very well-designed 3-D engine that runs pretty smoothly (and without any bugs or glitches) and looks pretty good to boot. Everything else about the game, from the emulation of John Williams' classic score to the series' brand of goofy humor, is intact and oh so enjoyable, and wireless co-operative gameplay is a blast as well this time around. If there's any downsides to Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, it's that the game does have an occasional hicuppy frame-rate, and the vehicle-based portions of the game are a little hard to get the hang of at first. All that aside, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is a pure blast, and for DS owning Star Wars fans, consider this an essential pick-up and wipe those bad memories of Lego Star Wars II away.

We got this game for our son's 8th birthday. He got several other games but this is the one that he plays over and over again (for 3 months now). He has played 2 other DS lego games and I must say, you can not go wrong with any of them. The one thing that I did not like is the fact that to "link" with another DS and play a multi player game, you both have to have the game. Most DS games are like this and I did not understand that when we purchased the game. To check before you buy a game, it tells you multi-card or single-card on the top right on the back of the game. - Nintendo Ds Lite - Star Wars - Video Games - Lego Star Wars'

Photoelectric - first alert, alarms

Folks,

Ionization detectors DO NOT protect you. The results and test methods are false due to the fire industy's cozy relationship with smoke detector manufacturers (yes, direct kick backs, look it up) and money for lobbyists in Sacramento and Washington DC. The profit margin on ionization detectors is much higher than photoelectric. Only photoelectric (required in commercial buildings - why not residential?) WORK. 75% of ionization detectors did not sound AT ALL in smoke filled rooms lethal to humans and have failed repeated independent tests. I'm a 20 year veteran of the fire service and a paramedic. I can guarantee you will DIE from smoke inhalation before an ionization alarm EVER goes off. No one dies from being burnt, you die from asphyxiation due to smoke and poisonous gases. Read this and only buy photoelectric. There's too much information for me to go into it here. Be sure and follow the World Safety Fire Foundation link. If that doesn't convince you to go photoelectric you're playing with death. Email [...] and if you send a SASE I will send you a dvd proving much of these assertions to you. It includes a show from Canadian TV that is ILLEGAL to show in the US as well as other information. BE SAFE! My dept's Chief's message is below:

Chief's Message

Warning: Your smoke alarm may not detect smoke

Currently, there is great confusion regarding the topic of smoke alarms. There are two types of smoke alarms used to protect residents in the event of a fire; photoelectric and ionization smoke alarms- both respond differently to smoke and flame.

Ionization smoke alarms react poorly to deadly smoke but faster to flames while photoelectric alarms react much faster to smoke. Ionization alarms are present in over 95% of homes in America and have a high failure rate when it comes to detecting smoke. The problem is, most deadly fires are smoldering fires and not fast flaming fires. By now, most people understand it is deadly smoke and heat that kills you before the flames even reach you. Ionization alarms should be labeled flame alarms and not smoke alarms.

An example of a fast flaming fire would be a Christmas tree fire, which certainly have claimed their share of resident's lives, but nowhere near the number of lives claimed by smoldering fires. Other fast flaming fires would be kitchen fires, which are the leading cause of residential fires, but rarely do they claim lives. I implore you to watch the following videos and audio clips: video 1, video 2, video 3, video 4 (University of Cincinnati presentation), audio clip 1.

Arguably, a greater problem with the ionization alarm is the number of false alarms it renders, thus leading to residents disconnecting the alarm all together. I must include an interesting story - a couple of years ago, with my infinite knowledge, I installed a combination ionization/photoelectric smoke alarm in my living room. Because my home is not large, the house is heated by a wood burning stove. After numerous false alarms (initiated by the invisible smoke) started by my stove, I gave up using the hush button (as it did not silence long enough) and disconnected the battery and remained disconnected until I went to bed. Finally after one season, I placed the combination alarm in my bedroom (replacing the older alarm) and placed a new photoelectric alarm in my living room. Do I need to tell you the results? Not one false alarm. So my point is, how many residents (worldwide) give up and just permanently disconnect the ionization alarm and expose themselves to a potential lethal smoldering fire? Moreover, there have been many fire deaths worldwide with working ionization smoke alarms present but failed to detect smoke. Regrettably, the fire industry has yet to take an official stand to eliminate ionization smoke alarms once and for all.

Sincerely,

Marc McGinn

Albany Fire Chief

P.S. I urge you to immediately replace your current ionization smoke alarms that do not detect smoke, with photoelectric smoke alarms, and for more extensive information please visit [...]. If you have any additional questions or need assistance I welcome your phone call at [...].

[...] First Alert SA720CN Smoke Alarm Photoelectric Sensor with Escape Light

I didn't think it'd work, but gave it a try after reading the reviews.

Works *amazingly* well in an area near the kitchen that was really frustrating w/ false alarms. The light is also very useful in that stairwell area.

Great smoke alarm with photoelectric sensor that is more sensitive to smoke than the more typical ionization smoke detectors. It's recommended to have both in your home, but for some reason these photoelectric types are harder to find in stores near us. This once comes with a spot light that will be very hand at the end of our hallway in case of a fire.

This one's like most as far as ease of installation, and comes with a battery.

I had an older alarm that was near my Kitchen that would continuously go off when we cooked on the stove. Drove me nuts!. I finally dropped kicked the old unit and replaced it with this one. No more alarms from Cooking.

Good unit.

This replaced an old detector that was installed near the kitchen. The old detector went off every time I cooked, which was quite annoying! This new alarm was placed in the same location as the old detector. The steam and smoke emitted by the stove or oven DOES NOT trigger this alarm. Very pleased!

I received 2 of these. One was fine. However, the second one did not work with the supplied battery. We thought maybe it was a bad battery so went out and bought another battery. Still no luck. This of course was after we had brought the clamshell packaging materials to our local recycling facility. We had never had an issue with smoke alarms not functioning when they were new. So...I'm stuck ordering a new one from Amazon because we already have the bracket on the ceiling. - Smoke Detector - First Alert - Home Safety - Alarms'
