They weren't joking when they said, "Relaxed Fit!" I have fairly large quads/thighs from weight lifting, and these jeans were way too baggy for me! Pants

I've been wearing Propper pants for hiking, cycling, any activity where I need tough pants... and also for lounging around/casual wear. I love the number of pockets, and the fact that these pants hold up so well. My old pair is about 5 years old and still going strong! I wear men's pants size 33 and the medium BDU's fit perfectly. Propper Poly / Cotton Ripstop BDU Pants Khaki MS F520138250M1

These fit well and look great. They appear to be super durable, yet are not excessively heavy or bulky. They are cool looking enough so that I don't feel like some goober-soldier-wannabe, yet are the real deal when it comes to tactical purposes (in terms of CCW, extra magazine storage, and adaptability) and mil-spec indestructability.'

Heart Monitor - exercise, fitness

Being a person who hasn't ever joined a gym, I never knew stuff like this existed. I was very interested in this item because I've been walking for exercise but wasn't really sure I was reaching my target heart rate consistently.

The monitor, which displays the time as well as your heart rate on a watch, works in conjuction with a gizmo that you strap around yourself, just under your chest. (I will tell you, since I was concerned about this, that it's hardly noticeable once it's in place...it's a 12" or so long piece of plastic with an adjustable elastic strap...not very bulky at all!) The monitor also features a stopwatch and an alarm, so that after you set your minimum & maximum desired heart rates, you can be alerted when you are out of range. The alarm is a "beep-beep" that I can hear over the book on tape I drag along with me. Your heart rate is updated every second or two so you will always know if you need to pick up the pace a bit.

Although I have not yet had to do so, the chest strap has a removable backing, and you apparently can change the battery yourself (this is a big deal, I guess, since some of the more expensive monitors require that you send them to the factory for a battery change). The elastic strap is also completely removable, which makes it very easy to wash (and you will need to if you're exercising!).

The monitor comes packaged in a small, zippered carrying case, and includes an attachment that allows you to place it on a bicycle handlebar.

This does everything I need it to, and I recommend it for anyone who is just getting started in an exercise program. Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor

Good:

- Works as advertised

- Easy to setup

- Rugged and well constructed

Bad:

- Wrist watch does not start receiving heart rate unless you are sweating at lot/apply a lot of water on the strap and your chest

- In a gym setting, there seems to be interference from electrical equipment (treadmills, etc) and the monitor works intermittently

- If there are other users w/ heart-rate monitors in the vicinity, their readings and my readings overlap causing some amount of confusion

This was my first heart rate monitor & I am very pleased with it. Did not require a lot of instruction. The chest strap is comfortable. Occasionally the monitor does not immediately pick up an accurate rate when first put on - but after a few seconds you are ready to go. I will be ordering another for my mother. Excellent product for the price.

This is the perfect HRM for anyone just trying to monitor their heart rate. Directions for set up are very easy. The price for this HRM is pretty cheap compared to others. Comes in a great storage zipper bag. If you need something with more features like calorie counting, average heart rate, etc. then you need to looke elsewhere. Now that I can keep track of my target zone for weight loss I have lost 10 pounds in one month. Seems like I was not working hard enough. The alarms are really great and let you know if you are not working out hard enough or workin out too hard. I have purchased two already for myself and girlfriend and both work properly and they do not seem to obstruct with each other. Great buy for beginner or advanced.

I use this while swimming. When swimming the chest strap has to be tightened a little extra, but it works. I also use it for circuit training because first I use the eliptical, then the weight machines. I do not rest between machines to keep heart rate in the proper zone during the entire workout, perfect.

I bought this monitor at a great price and it's worth it. I'm sure there are other monitors out there that are better, but this one still gives you a good indication of your training level. The strap is comfortable and snug. Just like any monitor you have to slightly wet the conductors to get an accurate reading. I did get some fluctuations at certain points but I just had to adjust the strap. The mounting bracket is great and easy to snap on and off. Good for bike riders like me.

I'll try to make this brief. First, I can tell you that I have lost about 26 pounds without the use of a personal heart rate monitor like this one. However, as far as exercise is concerned, I got this far ONLY riding a stationary bike, which came with an HRM on it. I have really gotten into exercising after being overweight for a long time and after having to endure achilles tendonitis in the last half of 2006. So, doing low impact exercise was really all I could do up until recently. Well, I'm in the next phase of my "life change" and it will involve not just being tethered to a bike, but running and lifting. So, I needed to get a portable unit to wear.

Well, if you are considering exercising or have already begun, this unit is a great "starter" model. It will provide you with all the feedback you need to get started such as max/min heart rate setting with alarm, stopwatch, and of course the heart rate itself. The chest unit fits fine and you really don't notice it all that much. I am a big guy with a rather large chest and it is plenty big even for me.

I STRONGLY suggest you research heart rates as it pertains to exercise. It will absolutely convince you that you need a heart rate monitor. Feedback is critical to getting the most out of your workout. If you do not know what your heart rate is, you can not stay in the "zone" that you need for the conditioning you are looking to achieve(fat burning, endurance, etc.).

The only complaint I have is that the unit came with a dead battery....grrrr! Oh well at least you can change it yourself on this unit...went to the store, got a new one and was good-to-go.

Great product for the $ I spent. I picked it b/c I can replace the batteries myself and the cost was in my budget. It does jump around more than I'd like, but I can tell from the range that I am over or under my target heart rate. It does beep to let you know that, but I find it annoying so I turn it off. If you find you have trouble getting it to register your rate, then move it around a bit. Mine works best when I put it higher on my chest, in the area of my heart, just below my shoulder blade. - Omron - Fitness - Exercise - Heart Rate'

Yoga And Pilates Mat Bag - mats, yoga and pilates mat bag

It is very difficult getting my mat out of the bag. If I ever got to yoga class late, I might as well pack it in, because it takes 5 mns. to get the mat out of the bag. I literally have to turn the bag inside out. Getting it in is only fractionally easier. Hugger Mugger Ultra Yoga Mat Bag (Blue)

This product is pretty plain but it serves its purpose. It is made of a polyester material so it is easy to clean up and lightweight for storage when not in use.

Don't buy if you have a thick mat. This is for the regular yoga mat. It is made well and I would recommend it for the price. I've seen similar bags in health food stores for two dollars more.

This is a perfectly functional mat bag and a good deal for the price. However, while my mat fits inside the bag just fine, I have to struggle with it to get it in and out. In hind sight, I wish I had spent a little bit more for a mat bag that fully zipped open to make it easier to get the mat in and out.

The bag is ok, the material is a little thin and cheap. The mat doesn't get stuck any more than any other bag I've used. Maybe a cloth bag would stick less (like a cotton one) the synthetic material makes it a little more sticky and hard to get the mat out. My main issue with it though is that I ordered the "berry" one and it came bright red, which totally clashes with my teal mat. SO SAD. The "berry" color would have matched perfectly. I wish they would advertise colors correctly, one of the main risks of buying online and not getting to see what you're purchasing: wrong color, less quality than expected.

Since I do perform yoga daily I have been Itching to do a yoga class somewhere anywhere I can use this bag because I already have a yoga mat of my own already wanna bring It with to help me learn and cope with my problem only thing now Is to sign up or show up to a yoga class public for free and of my time or a private one with my money and something of not hurting my budget or I can go anyplace and use It now I can perform yoga poses outside my home this would help anyone who wants to show people some balance.

THANK YOU

The bag is great. I only carry my mat down the hall to the gym at work (which is even on the same floor I where I work). It is more of a red than the berry color shown in the photo so I was disappointed for paying extra and waiting for it to come back in stock. Other than that is it easy to use. The mat fits into the bag easily. The pull string and toggle work smoothly. It is a good bag for the price. - Mats - Yoga And Pilates Mat Bag - Yoga Accessories - Storage Bag'

Chainsaw - chain saws, husqvarna

I just picked up a 455 Rancher about a month ago (today is 4 May, 2006). This is a great saw. I had been using for more than 20 years, and still use to some degree a Stihl 028; another excellent saw.

There are some pros and cons to this saw as with all things.

Here's what I like. It's easy to operate and maintain. Accessibility of the under-cowel components such as the air filter, spark plug, and clutch housing is a no-brainer. It starts easy. In fact, you really don't need the pressure valve. It "pops" after a few short and fast pulls. Remember, once the saw "pops" with the choke, un-choke it and pull it again. You do not need to warm a two stroke with the choke on like you would a 4 stroke engine. Attempting to warm with the choke is the biggest cause of two stroke engine flooding.

Here's what I do not like. The low/hi mixture settings are limited by EPA regulations; a complete and total joke. If you remove the controls to optimize your settings, the warranty is void. But, I think it's better to do that than cook engine from lean settings. There aren't enough chainsaws running in any given period of the day to justify this regulation. So if you are a casual user, really pay attention to the break in procedures. Since the saws run lean, you need to make sure to break them in with extra care. If you use them much more frequently, remove the EPA limiters and richen out the hi/low mix, otherwise you will cook your engine.

Overall this is a great saw. The chisel chains do well for heavier applications. Be careful of kickback with these style chains. You can get low-kick back chains from any dealer. It's all a matter of personal preference.

I have outfitted my saw with an Oregon 20" Bar, chain, and rim sprocket. Once again this is a personal preference issue. The power head of the 455 is plenty and the applications many. If you are a causal user of this saw, talk with the folks at the saw shops for tips and ideas. They are a repository of knowledge and can help you make informed decisions about your saw.

-Washington State Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20-Inch 55-1/2cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw (CARB Compliant)

This is my second full season with my 455 Rancher. We have been having a huge issue here in Colorado with pine beetle infestations of lodgepole pine trees. I have been felling and bucking pine for firewood. I've been putting in about 15 hours per week with my Husky saw. It has performed well. The cutting I have been doing has been at 9000 feet elevation and even at this altitude the saw has adequate power for what I've been cutting. Most of the trees I've been dropping are 12" to 24" in diameter. The only negative issues I have encountered can be traced immediately back to the operator of the saw (me!). The biggest problem I've had is that I filed way too much off of the chain rakers. At that point the saw was no longer cutting, but tearing through the wood. I filed the teeth heavily and that problem was solved. The carburetor adjustment takes some learning, but is pretty simple once you get the procedure ironed out (learned) in your head. At 9000 feet I can get it to run sufficiently rich so as to prevent engine damage, but still not smoke much if at all during operation. The last tree I fell was 22" DBH and around 110 feet tall. I felled the tree and bucked it into 18" lengths for firewood in about 1.5 hours. I cut every part of the tree down to 2" in diameter for heating wood. Not bad at all. I would buy this saw again for sure. I had a chance during the late summer to cut about a cord of hard maple into firewood with this saw as well. This was at an elevation of 2000 feet. With a carburetor adjustment the saw was off and running. It did seem to be a bit on the lean side at that elevation, but it never overheated or lost power. This maple was 14" in diameter and the saw had absolutely no problem with the heavy, dense wood.

The biggest limiting factor with any chainsaw is the maintenance and adjustment. Take your time and learn the procedures. No one is born knowing how to properly set-up and use a chainsaw. Proper procedures make ALL the difference. People want instant gratification from anything they buy. A chainsaw is not one of those things.

Conclusion: If you are a serious land-owner user I wouldn't hesitate to buy this saw. It can, when properly set up, mow through some serious lumber in a respectable amount of time. If you are a professional timber faller you aren't even reading this review.

P.S. Some of the other reviewers mentioned the "flimsy" choke and kill switch actuators. I actually consider their flexible nature to be an asset. They bend without breaking. A more rigid tab would break rather than flexing and then snapping back into place. The woods can be a pretty brutal environment when woodcutting is going on. I would prefer to not have a broken piece of plastic be the reason I had to go back 20 miles to town in the middle of the day.

Hope this review is helpful. Cheers!

N.W. Colorado

Living in Alaska heating oil costs can get astronomical. I made a decision this year instead of paying the local lumber yard $125 a cord for split spruce; I would take care of it myself. After the 1st half cord of wood my old McCullough just wouldn't cut it anymore. The local saw shop didn't want to work on it and so I started looking around for a decent saw.

I first purchased a Poulan 18" that was completely worthless. Gas and Oil leaked from the poor cap design while in operation and at rest in it's case. The poulan wouldn't stay running despite all my efforts to get it to behave.

I quickly returned the Poulan and purchased the Husqy 455. I've been very happy with it's performance to date. It chews through White and Black spruce at insane speeds. I've cut 3 cords with it already and the only problem I've had to date is after about 45 minutes of cutting the saw will shut off at idle. I'm assuming this is a possible heating issue. If you let the saw rest for 2 minutes it fires right back up like it never had a problem. The choke handle is indeed very cheap plastic and I'm taking good care to handle it gently.

The saw has already paid for itself and I expect to get many good years of service out of it. All in all it's the best saw I've used to date; but that's comparing it to Poulan and McCullough. - Chainsaw - 455 - Husqvarna - Chain Saws'

Soap Holder - soap holder

These work great to air out sponges next to the sink at work in the break room. The price is definitely right- But we bought 2, and shipping was $6.99- so we paid more for shipping than we did for the 2 products put together- and they are feather weight. But the product is good. PACIFIC Clear Soap Saver

My mom lives in another country and she had never seen these kids of soap dishes before. I bought her one as a gift, and then I bought one more as a gift for her friend and then one more for another relative who've seen it, and then even more. Overall I think I bought maybe 5 or 6 total, thankfully I found them at Cost Plus store so I didn't have to pay shipment and the price was right.

Amazing how little things can draw so much attention. It've been couple years and my mom still uses it.

I can't stand the smell of mildewed kitchen sponges. This gadget solves the problem. We have two of them near the kitchen sink. If you rinse and squeeze out your sponges after use, they will dry quickly and remain fresh as a daisy. And, they are nearly invisible in use.

Also keeps your soap dry if your soap dish, like ours, turns soft face soap to white mush. Pays for itself in soap saved. I order several at a time from City Living, so the cost comes to about three bucks each. - Soap Holder'

New Delta Thickness Planer - new delta thickness planer

Purchased this planer back in October 2010. At the time the stand was part of a rebate program and was completely free. The planer is very sturdy yet mobile and affixes to the stand perfectly. The fit and finish are very nice and there is just enough steel in the right places to make everything feel strong. The cutter lock works easily and the repeat cut adjustable from 1/8" to 1 1/4" is very nice. The 4 post design works very well to raise and lower the cutter head and can be reached for future maintenance when enough dust and chips cling to the threads. The length of infeed and outfeed tables add to stability and snipe reduction. Laying a straight edge across all surfaces one can easily adjust the stop nuts underneath the tables to raise or lower if need be. I affixed the included dust chute. When the dust chute is installed the rear outfeed table cannot be folded up. For a shop this does not really matter, but if you are accustomed to taking a planer to sites with you it may be a nuisance. I attached the dust chute to a shop vac cyclone and was surprised at the efficiency of pickup. I would say 90% of chips were picked up with 165cfm shop vac so I imagine a real dust collector would only make it better.

Anyway, after checking blade alignment(which was spot on from factory) I sent 20 BF of Dalmation wood through the planer. Dalmation is a very hard wood and sharp tools are a requirement. After a couple passes of 1/64" I marked up a couple sides with chalk to see how even the blades cut across the pieces of wood. It looked great and the finish was very nice. You would still have to sand some machine marks out of the wood but this could be accomplished with a light scuff of 180 or even 220 grit, or a couple passes with a bench plane, and not he aggressive working many other planers leave you with.

Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. I think this is an exceptional tool for the serious hobbyist and will last a long time. It feels substantial for a benchtop and should compete very well with the popular Dewalt models. When I purchased this I could not find one review online so I hope this helps future consumers. As a big fan and owner of Jet Tools, I am happy to add my first piece of Delta Machinery. This thing looks great in the shop too!

[...] Delta 22-590 13-in Thickness Portable Planer

My old planer was the usual 2 knife unit - a little age on it - but it did OK, because I learned to work with its shortcomings. I had been looking for something better for a while - knowing that the real answer is a 5 horsepower, 20" machine that weighs 450 pounds. However, I really need a portable machine due to the pro side of my woodworking (boats), where I just have to take the machine to the job. I accept that all of the portable machines will be limited in power, since they must plug into a 15 amp, 115 volt outlet.

I finally decided to pony up the money for the new Delta 22-590. I was pleasantly surprised to find it set up perfectly, right out of the box - infeed and outfeed tables adjusted, depth scale spot on, etc. The 3 knife cutterhead does indeed give a visibly smoother finish than what I expected - AND LITTLE OR NO SNIPE! I don't know how they do it, and I don't care - you stick a piece in and it comes out the same width end to end --- kudos to the product development team at Delta! The dust chute is very efficient - with a 4" vacuum hose attached, there is almost nothing in the machine when you shut it down. Also included is a dust chute that allows the use without a dust collector - it just deposits the shavings onto the board - to be cleaned up after the fact. Nice job on this. The cutter head lock is jack simple - just tighten or loosen as needed. The raising/lowering screw is a noticeably finer thread, meaning that it takes more turns to raise or lower, BUT --- it also means that making a fine adjustment is a snap. The quick set repeat feature also makes it easy to return to any previous setting under and inch or so, simplifying those times when you need to go back and make another piece. Like all the others in its class - it sings pretty loudly - wear your ear protection!

It is still somewhat new to me - but after a couple months of use - this is the best machine I know about - within the limits of portability.

The planer works very well. I have a shop dust collector that collects nearly all of the shavings from the planer. I have had one issue, that of sniping. I have made some adjustments to the in-feed and out-feed tables, but have not tested it since. This planer should last a long time, if it is used as a hobbyist's planer. You should make very small cuts, like 1/16-1/8 inch at each pass. The cutting comes out very smooth, but still needs sanding as you would expect. It is not a replacement for a stationary planer. It also doesn't cost anywhere near as much as a stationary planer. Good device for the price! - New Delta Thickness Planer'

Dust Collector Hose - dust collection, woodworking

Very impressed, after trying to survive- and nearly choking- with just a shopvac!

This unit is weighty, goes together well, and doesn't feel, or look, cheaply-made. The filter bag is pretty fine (2.5 micron, IIRC), and I've certainly not noticed ANYTHING (except clean air and a woody smell!) coming out of it. It has a fairly compact footprint too, which is great in my small shop. While not quiet, the noise it emits is nothing like as wearing as a shopvac, and amounts to a nice reassuring roar, not a whine- and certainly no rattles- until it whisks away a woodchip in a satisfying way. Shop Fox have a real website, with real technical support and PDF manuals online- altogether a proper and reliable-feeling company.

I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who was choking in dust like me...! SHOP FOX W1727 1 HP Dust Collector

I have a small shop, however, I make one heck of a lot of sawdust. Therefore I began my search for a dust control system that was affordable and would suit my needs. The Shop Fox 1727 seemed to be the perfect fit for my application. The box arrived a day before the indicated date which was nice. The assembly was easy and the parts self-explanatory. I had read about the difficulties people had with the installation of the bags so I gave that a bit of thought. Then the answer was obvious: use clear shipping tape to hole the bag in place until you can install the clamps. The idea worked great and assembly came to a successful close.

Its small footprint is a plus in my limited space. Using the Fox was a surprise. It is rated at one horsepower but boy, can that motor move some air! I use if for my table saw, my router table, my 12 inch disc sander and I have a floor sweep tray. All I need do is close off the ports that are not being used. I am happy with my machine and recommend it to others

The ShopFox w1727 dust collector does a fine job on dust and small and large shavings from my lathe. What surprised me is the sound - much quieter than expected. No terrible whine, just a soft roar that lets me hear the radio in the shop. A great piece for a good price. I purchased a 4" 10 foot hose and a floor cleaner attachment at a retail store.

I have a shop limited only by the fact that it is in my basement. Overhead is just bare joists with wood planks on top; no insulation or extra barrier of any kind to keep excess dust from infiltrating my house if I can't keep it under control.

I had always thought I needed something bigger than the standard 650CFM units to run any real tools, so I had been looking at the 1200-1300 CFM units. I usually prefer overkill rather than risk not loving my product fully, but the bigger units had one limiting factor to me: the fact that they are usually more than 6.5' tall, and I would have to place it between the joists in my basement.

Because this unit claims 800 CFM (a nice middle ground), and is much shorter than all the other units in both categories that I've seen, I thought it might be the way to go. Also, I realized I'd lose a bit of CFM by running a permanent duct system on one of the bigger units, and this unit is meant to be moved around to one machine at a time, so I thought (and mostly still think) that it was the right choice for such conditions.

But I only gave it four stars...

For one thing, there is a very similar Grizzly unit that claims to be 800 CMF if you remove the 90° bend, but only 650 CFM if you keep it on. Removing it makes everything slightly more annoying to use and change hoses on, so that is a drawback and kind of misleading. I can say this because I am 99% sure these are badge swap brands (i.e., the ShopFox is the same as the Grizzly).

The unit came in one surprisingly small, easy to manage box, and I put it together in a few minutes. The base and the wheels are too cheap, though, and you have to kind of force it along the floor (mine is smooth concrete) to make it gowhere you want it to go, kind of like a rusty old shopping cart. That is also annoying.

Using reducers to collect from my miter saw and 2.25 HP router leaves some dust behind, but I think that's mostly because the reducers limit what it can do, but it seems to get the fine dust, which is what is more dangerous and more likely to get into the rest of the house. But I think I will be comfortable running some real tools down there, such as a planer and table saw, which is the final goal of getting this machine in the first place. There will be cleanup afterward, but I think it's manageable. You see, I really want a real workshop, but I'm not about to put the poor cars outside at the mercy of the idiot neighbors just so I can use that smaller space for the tools.

One thing to note is that, yes, this thing is much smaller than most, but a 4" flex duct is still semi-rigid and ends up taking more room to make a sweeping 90° bend than you might think.

So, in the end, this does what I wanted it to do. It's not thought-shatteringly loud, it's not so hard to drag around (plus it runs on a 120V circuit, allowing its mobility), and I can't imagine a better price. It gets four stars because it has not made me 100% certain that I did the right thing by not going overkill on a larger unit. But I am 90% certain, especially for the price to quality ratio.

Dust production and its subsequent collection is the bane of every woodworker's existence. Knowing that my Big-Box-Store Shop Vac wasn't going to handle the addition of any more new tools I decided to look into upgrading. As a result I spent many a month mulling over my options and reading as many reviews as I could on the topic. I used 4 criteria to narrow down my search:

(a) Good dust control (duh!)

(b) An alternative to the 4" web-like flexi hoses that adorn the walls/ceiling of so many shops.

(c) A competitive price.

(d) Use on a standard 110 circuit

After months of careful consideration I opted for the Shop Fox W1727. First off, it's portability makes those unsightly 4" pipes obsolete. Sure, for industrial shops a permanent system is a must, but for the average Weekend warrior, wheeling a W1727 over to the source of the dust is more than adequate. Oh, here's a tip: Make you life infinitely easier by purchasing some quick release circular spring clamps. These babies make moving, removing, and attaching the 4" hose to any tool's dust port a breeze. I think the price is competitive, and the 110 circuitry allows me to dedicate my only 220 circuit to my table saw.

Overall I am thrilled with this purchase, it removes dust admirably, and the solid casters make moving this puppy around the shop effortless. - Air Cleaners - Delta - Dust Collection - Woodworking'
