Battery-operate - electric pencil sharpener, battery

I don't usually write these reviews, but I was extremely irritated with the way this product turned out for me.

As a high school math teacher I am always in need of a good pencil sharpener, but considering I personally buy more than half of my school supplies, I couldn't afford to spend a lot on one. After reading the reviews, and deciding to purchase it, I anticipated receiving a great working sharpener for little money!

NOT THE CASE. After "teaching" my students how to work the sharpener - hold the pencil firmly, press VERY gently, take it out quickly - over and over again, it broke. It constantly would break the lead off the pencil and get stuck in the sharpener. And finally it just completely quit working. So after only four weeks of school, it is getting no use whatsoever but collecting dust in my desk, while my students are back using 99cent plastic sharpeners. It worked great for me personally, but for a classroom of young adults/teenagers, it is not worth it! X-Acto 16750 Battery-Powered Pencil Sharpener, Black

My old battery operated pencil sharpener died a miserable death a few months ago and I needed a replacement. I vacilated between a battery-operated one and an electric one. I finally decided on the battery-operated sharpener as I have noticed no difference in the life length between the two--I use electric ones on my desk at work. At any rate, I decided on the X-ACTO Razor Blade Battery Sharpener. I also purchased a package of rechargeable batteries for it.

The sharpener has worked perfectly each time that I have used it. Another reviewer mentioned art pencils and it is a valid point to take into consideration. I haven't used art pencils in a while so cannot speak to that. One complaint mentioned that the catch-container is only large enough to sharpen 1 or 2 pencils before it needs to be emptied. That has not been my experience. I can go several days--and several sharpenings--without needing to empty the container.

My only complaint about the sharpener--and it has been my complaint with most of those I have owned--it's noisy as in very. The cat runs out of the room each time that I use it. That said, it is a small price to pay for a perfectly sharpened pencil.

just about every time i've ever use this thing it pulls the lead out of the pencil and clogs the sharpening device with said lead. you have to take it apart and dig out the lead and then grind away another inch of pencil to compensate for the lead that fell out. if you are very lucky you only need to waste about 3-4 inches of pencil to get one point.

I needed a portable, light, and inexpensive sharpener for my pencils- regular graphite #2, a variety of drawing pencils (including charcoal and graphite in assorted soft/hardnesses), colored pencils, and watercolor pencils. This sharpener has done a perfect job on all of them. I haven't had any problems with tips breaking off or shattering, and the pencil tip is always a perfect razor-fine sharpness with a good balance of wood to graphite/lead. I especially like that I no longer have to use an X-Acto knife to get my pencils to a good sharpness for the different grips I use when I draw.

The only caveat to this sharpener is you must hold the sharpener in one hand and the pencil in the other, unless you manage to secure it to your work surface. The motor is powerful that either the pencil or the sharpener will try and spin when you insert a pencil and it turns on. But if you secure both pencil and sharpener, it only takes one or two rotations for the pencil to be sharpened completely. Beware of over-sharpening, which will weaken your pencil and sometimes I have a tendency to do. Less is more with this unit.

I can't recommend this sharpener enough. It can be a little loud (but not loud enough to cause shock and awe, or be heard in the next room) but what pencil sharpener isn't? It's small, inexpensive, sharp, hard-working, and super-portable. For only a few dollars for than a cheapy plastic "do it yourself" model, it's an essential tool for any artist, student, household, or crafter.

This thing was a disaster, and I gave it a chance. Really, I did. A few years.... It simply chews up pencils. Just when you think it's almost sharp, snap! Broken lead, and somehow, it breaks the lead way down the shaft so you have to chew off another inch or two before you finally get something resembling a sharp pencil. So frustrating!

Oh, and don't even get me started on what happens to those broken leads! You have to take off the shaving-catcher/cover thing and get something like a toothpick to dislodge it while the darn blade keeps moving..... Arrrggghh! Then, when you try to put the cover back on, it feels as though it's going to break, (though in all fairness, it never did).

In. The. Trash. Can. Sharpened all 24 required pencils for my son's school by hand, thank you very much. - Electric Pencil Sharpener - Battery - Battery-operate - X-acto'

This is a great 3D movie, and a must have as some of the other folks have said. This is by far the best 3D movie I have in my collection. If you are reading this review, then you are probably considering buying the 3D version. This is only my opinion, but if you are like myself and as you were sitting in the theater watching this and you thought to yourself "I would love to watch this in 3D at home!" then this is worth every bit of $200 and up. You won't regret it, but you have to be careful when choosing the dealer.

Everything was fine, I ordered it, it took 2-3 days to get to my house. No problems.....until I received it in the mail. I put it in the PS3 and it wasn't 3D!!!!!It was the Blu-Ray that had been put in an Avatar 3D box and then put back into the plastic sleeve. I had just spent about $230.00 all together on this and felt like passing out. I try really hard not to make stupid decisions, but this one wasn't looking very good. I wrote the dealer and explained what had happened and that I was extremely angry and that this was going to have to be taken care of. I was afraid that they would not have the 3D version to send me, and that they would blame me and say that I switched the discs. It was a bit traumatic. They wrote me back a few hours later and said they would take care of it. A few days later I received the 3D version of the film.

So the reason I am writing this review is to let the honest people know what some of the dishonest people are doing. The Dealer explained that they have run into several instances where people buy the Avatar 3D starter kit and carefully remove the 3D version replacing it with the Blu-Ray version. They then either return it claiming it has not been opened, or they sell it, as to not get stuck paying the $150.00-$400. I guess it is quite common. So I just wanted to give you a heads-up. I got lucky with the dealer, because they were honest. I fear that some people won't be so lucky. A few things you can do is try to buy from the dealer who has more ratings, this in no way guarantees you won't be ripped off, but usually the dealers with more ratings have more experience and may be easier to deal with. For this product I would not deal with a start-up dealer, too risky. You can also write the dealer and have them check to make sure the 3D disc is in the case before they ship. Good luck. Panasonic TY-EW3D2MMK2 Ultimate 3D Starter Kit (Avatar 3D + 2 Rechargeable Glasses)

If you bought a Panasonic 3d TV, then you are going to have to invest in a pair of their glasses (1st or 2nd generation, these are 2nd) to view 3d material. The glasses themselves are not that bad. I wouldn't be wearing them for longer than a standard movie viewing, only because I personally feel that I don't want to stress my eyes any longer than that. The 3d effect was great, I had a bit of flickering in the glasses because I had a florescent light on during the evening, but it went away when I turned the light off. Price is too expensive for what you get, however, and it really should be packaged into the TV.

I wear prescription glasses, and they fit over my glasses comfortably (this kit comes with medium size glasses). My prescription glasses are narrow, but I had plenty of room, so I would think that even if you had larger frames that they should fit. The main concern I would think would be your head size in deciding to go with small, medium, or large. I would guess that medium is the standard size for adults, with small being for kids or adults with a smaller head, and large for those with a bigger cranium. I don't think they sell this kit with anything other than medium glasses, so if you need one of the other sizes you'll have to buy them individually.

I've been researching 3D TV and glasses for about 2 months. I finally decided on these along with a Panasonic 50" 3D TV. I read reviews about glasses being uncomfortable, people say light gets in some, other complain about dead spots, ect ect. It seems there's a complaint with almost any glasses. Some more then others. These seemed to have the best reviews and not many complaints. So I went with them.

I have zero complaints. They are comfortable and don't bother me even after 4 hours of wearing them gaming or watching movies. I don't really get some of the complaints to be honest. I guess there's always "that guy" out there who will complain about anything. These glasses are good quality, work well, and are comfortable for me (male, medium build, my wife is small and she has no complaints either).

I really like to on/off switch and the red LED light to indicate when they are charging. All-in-all these are worth the price.

Don't get me wrong I like the glasses they are pretty comfortable but for roughly $150 they should be as comfortable as Oakley's. They are the best glasses currently available from any manufacturer (I have tried them all) but still need improvement. - 3d - Avatar - Panasonic - 3d Tv'

Car Chargers - ipad, car chargers

I don't know what the other poster was charging but it wasn't an Ipad. You plug this in, it says "not charging". The only thing this would charge is an Ipod. Spending 4 dollars I'm not going to return because its not worth my time, but what makes me angry is when vendors will do anything to make money, which includes lying. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY unless you want an Ipod charger Oriongadgets Car Charger for Apple iPad (White)

I agree with the other gents post that the only thing this will charge is an IPOD not An IPAD

The ad is deceiving they Leeds you to believe so they can get the sale I hope others find this helpful

Yours truly disappointed x2

The charger is NOT 10W charger as vendor would like to suggest. It only charges ipad while ipad is in the "sleep mode." Even in this mode, the rate of charging is VERY slow. I did a test - it took 50 mins to bump ipad battery by 5%. If you want to use this charge in the car (which is the whole point), you will need keep this charger on for MANY hours in order to produce reasonable amount of power for your ipad. Vendor did responded to my request but I think vendor should do a better job to descrove the item accurately.

after buying this, and getting a not charging MSG, I called AppleSupport, they verified there is no car charger that currently works for iPad. Try original chgr with a 115V DC to AC inverter in car. this works fine.

Here's another real world review: this is crap! False advertising. It'll trickle charge an iPad, but only if the device is off. You can't use this to power an iPad. At any price, this is a rip off. These people are scamming you. DON'T BUY! - Ipad - Car Chargers - Ipad Accessory - Iphone'

Bluetooth - laptops, 1tb

Bad

I bought this at Fry's for an equivalent price.

I'm now on my 3rd laptop after getting replaced for hardware failures. 1st laptop the video died on the laptop monitor. It was replaced after 2 days. The 2nd the fan failed after 3 days. I'm now on my 3rd laptop, hopefully its the charm.

Good

Ergonomics could be better. The battery is extends below the body, creating a lift to the laptop. This is fine when on a table or desk, but rests just above my knee when on my lap. I'm surprised there is only one fan outlet, its blows out the back left and is also faces down, a blanket or thick rug can easily block the vent.

All ports are located on the left and right. I do wish there was at least 1 usb and the power in the back.

The HP logo also lights up when powered on, like Apple's. I'm not sure if there is a way to turn it off. I like to keep it running overnight and the light can be distracting.

Best

The laptop itself is fast as can be. The Windows performance index is only slowed by the speed hard drive, which is rare with a laptop, it's usually the video that slows down a system.

The software that comes installed is actually useful. Not much bloatware (except norton, sprint, ebay). The wildtangent games are fun and most are free. There are utilities to change how often the fan runs, and apps for bluetooth and wifi. HP Pavilion dv7-4295us Entertainment Notebook PC - Silver

It is hard to not sound negative about HP after my experience.

But Really? This is the best you can do HP?

$1200 laptop by the time it gets to your door ...OH after 4 weeks of waiting for it to be "Built" because you added "Upgrades"

By the time this junk gets to you, wouldn't it be great if it actually "Worked"?

But it did not and then began the endless loop of people that ask you to do static discharge tests and other time wasting garbage.

I spent 52 hours in one week with tech support!

Do you have time for that?

HP Should give me the laptop for free as pay for the hours I put in with them on this.

The Wireless in most of the HP mobile devices has issues and in these units it is fatal in my case it functioned for the first 15 minutes out of the box.

It may be that they are utilizing inferior wireless adaptors, I have read this on some of the blogs but I am not an expert, I just know mine would not work after many, many, hours of tech support calls and chats. The laptop simply didn't even "See" the adaptor. It was like it wasn't even in there?

At one point, I was actually asked by HP Tech support to take the machine apart and "Re seat" the adaptor (Read unscrew the cover take the card out by unscrewing it and then put it back together) I did it too! Did not help.

The restore to original factory setting...did that 4 times! No help.

These guys at HP do not have a clue but if you search on YouTube before you buy you will see there are pages and pages of folks that have similar "Issues" with HP products. They are not what they promise, you do not get what you pay for and while they look "Pretty" to some, the return is short lived before the gremlins appear.

Do not get caught in the HP "Trap" take your hard earn dollars elsewhere so you don't waste all the time I did.

Just trying to help others avoid the nightmarish experience I just went through and possibly save you valuable time and money.

This laptop is very sleek and fast. For the price you can't beat it as it has everything except a faster hard drive. Seems as if the hardware for laptops is ready to take a big leap because looking at Dell, they are now offering 3GB video cards - bluray writer; although when configuring it the ship date was in mid June, weight 1 lb more, and was at least $600 more. This computer feels and looks well made and should be future proof for a few years.

I purchased a Pavilion dv7-4295us two days ago. I am going to have to return it. I went through 3 hours on the phone with a technician. The problem is the mousepad. It jumps around when not touched, selects items without touching as you are scrolling around, moves the opposite direction as you move the cursor at times, pauses as you are scrolling in a random fashion, and is unfortunately the ultamite downfall of this computer. The specs are great on this model. I was fairly happy for all the bells and whistles for the price I paid. If I could get the mouse working I would keep it. Now I am going to have to potentially pay a restocking fee where I bought it from, lose all the time I put into loading it, and lose time, gas and money returning it to the store. I have to have a laptop ready immediately before I head up to remote regions in Alaska.

Got one for $1,024.99 delivered - J&R Music/Computer with price matching.

The J&R people were great... spent plenty of time... answered ALL questions, but...

The laptop arrived with a bad pixel. HP customer service told me that "they will spread" i.e. one will become three will become 4 will become 7, etc. HP says this is a BAD DISPLAY and urged me to exchange it with the supplier. I did. Laptop #2 display is okay.

HP not only wanted me to return it to J&R, but wanted me to get its replacement from them!!! I must have got a sales girl working in Customer Service for the day. If you buy thru HP, you can get it customized, you'll get a 2 year warranty instead of 1, but you will pay more, pay sales tax and have to wait. No thanks. I got #2 from J&R.

GOOD:

1. Best bang for the buck. You won't find all this stuff in one box for a better price.

2. 2nd Drive Bay, but I don't know if I'll need a chassis frame for it, like you do with ASUS. Also, the HP lady said something about "drive tattooing" - What is that? Supposedly, only certain HDs can be "matched" and used with this laptop.

3. First class I-7 CPU and 8GB of ram is sweet.

4. Finger print reader WORKS!!!! I have one on my older HP and it doesn't.

5. Blu-Ray reader, Lightscribe, NICE!!! Might have liked a Blu-Ray writer, but the media is too expensive now anyway.

BAD:

1. Glossy display screen. So glossy you could shave in it!

2. 1TB 5400 rpm HD. Why cheapen it here HP? Biggest they offer in a 7200 is a 640GB.

3. No USB 3. You can get it from HP, but not the ones built for sales in other stores. I bought an ExpressCard USB 3 adapter. Careful! Some devices require more current to run. The card I got will run any device up to like 190ma without an external plug in AC adapter. If you plug it in, it can handle up to 900ma. Fine, but there goes your portability. Also, the ExpressCard add in sticks out the side about an inch and this monster is already big!!!

4. Only available in silver from stores. HP also sells a reddish-brown one. The silver one looks like it's aluminum, but it's not and it might scratch up easily.

5. Battery is huge and sticks down from bottom so much that it angles the laptop towards you.

6. Keyboard sucks. Reminds me of the first variation of the old Radio Shack Color Computer. HP will build you one with a custom, even backlit version, but now as the price climbs, go buy an ASUS.

7. Touchpad is lame. I'm going to use a wireless mouse so I don't care.

8. I was shocked how big this is.

9. The 1600x900 screen is nice, but it could have been better like some others out there.

Would I buy it again? Yes! If it holds up. Other reviews here have me a little worried. I'm crossing everything I have two of. Maybe I should have dug a little deeper and bought the ASUS. I found some great, used ASUSs on EBAY for about this same price, but buying a used, as-is laptop is scary especially when the ad says ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Hp C6180 Photo Printer

I have confirmed through HP's web site that the ink levels in the 02 combo pack contain the same amount of ink as if you purchased a single 02 color cartrige. Beware though, the value pack that comes with photo paper does not contain the same ink amounts and is therefore a rip-off. I believe the ink cartriges in the value pack are similar to the new ones you receive with a new printer. There are almost always partially filled cartriges supplied with new printers. Original HP 02 Ink Cartridges Combo-Pack (5 Color Cartridges) in Retail Packaging

HP 02 Inkjet Print Cartridge Color Combo Pack CC604FN#140

Most retailers including Amazon sell the Combo Pack which includes only Five 5 color cartridge. My local Sam s Club sells a Combo VALUE pack which also includes the black cartridge six cartridges . The cost is $57. Amazon please provide this option also.

Also, the HP printer that use the 02 cartridges give the message that ink level is low and cartridge MUST be replaced". Don t be fooled. Many more pages can be printed before there is a need to replace the cartridge.

Many have been disappointed to find that HP has some packages with a smaller capacity ink cartridge and therefore not the value originally thought.

This ad does not detail the ink in a cartridge capacity; check with the HP site to determine product specifications and compare with the capacity of buying an individual color cartridge versus the group package. Caution advised. (And seller including capacity of each cartridge) Note that black cartridge (usually larger) and color cartridges vary in capacity.

Good product but be very, very careful that you buy the five cartridge combo pack that does not include black. That is the one with the most ink in each cartridge. The combo pack that is sold as a photo combo, includes the black cartridge and 150 sheets of 4x6 photo paper has a lot less ink in them. I finally even spoke with a person at HP that confirmed it. I had to get a person in sales (USA) that could confirm it. Technical support and customer service online live chat (not USA) had no clue. The five cartridge combo box shows the volume of each color like the individual cartridges. The photo combo doesn't list the individual volumes only that it is enough to print 150 photos.

Buyer beware ...

HP printers have always been the most convenient for me. We currently have a C6180 wireless printer and it works great, I just cannot believe how much ink we go through. Our old printer used 56 and 57 inks and we had to replace them much less frequently. These smaller color ink cartridges are a rip of in my opinion, they simply don't last long enough for the price.

The ink cartridges I received are clearly remanufactured ink cartridges. The product was NOT in factory sealed packaging, as the product listing states. And it did NOT come in the package that is presented in the picture. Furthermore, the cartridge plastic casing has clearly been glued shut with some kind of glue gun as there is excess glue everywhere. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT from this seller!!!

HP has the best value for a multi ink cartdridge home use series. Lowest cost per page, easiest replacement, and most efficient. Notice the two holes in the cartridges, it recycles most of the ink from printer Maintenance, and cleaning and what not. You will find that yellow usually runs out the quickest, becuase if you are printing photos yellow is used the most for skin tones and sky backgrounds and many nature scenes. Don't be fooled by the photo value pack, this package is the way to go. The photo value pack is a set of "custom" cartridges meant to do the 150 sheets of included 4x6 paper. On average a standalone cartridge or one from this value pack does about 240 4x6 photos.

I purchased this product, after reading it's description I believed it was an HP product but when it arrived I received some generic brand. I don't know how good they are or how long they will last but I am disappointed.

Not much to say. They print vivid, they haven't clogged, it was cheaper than buying them individually, and I didn't have to leave the house.

In regards to a previous reviewer, this pack does come with 100% filled cartridges. Perhaps it is the ink/paper combo pack that shortchanges you. Though, I should have read the description of this pack better. This combo pack does NOT come with Black Ink. Bad HP! -1 star for you.'

Ddr2 Memory - pc memory, ddr2 memory

I first tested my system with the crucial memory scanner tool. Then bought this pair of memory chips from Amazon as it was cheaper :). It works just fine. Just remember that you might have to stagger the memory chips in the slots to make it work.

E.g., If you have 4 memory slots and have 1 GB in the form of 2 512MB RAMs in adjacent slots, it won't work if you put these 2 1GB RAMs in the next 2 free slots. You have to remove one of the 512MB RAMs, put in a 1GB RAM in its slot and insert the 512MB RAM in the free slot next to it. You could put the remaining 1 GB RAM in the remaining slot. PNY OPTIMA 2GB DDR2 667 MHz PC2-5300 Desktop DIMM Memory Module MD2048SD2-667

i'm using this product 2 gig x2 and 1 gig x2 for a total og 6 gig on a Asus M2N-SLI Delux Green nVidia Socket Am2 ATX with AMD Athalon 64x2 6400+ black edition i could have not made a better choice this product is truly top of it's line thanks PNY.

PNY is quickly becoming a popular brand for me i haven't have a single problem with any of their products and the memory works great my computer actually recognized the full amount instead of the partial amount it recognized with the factory ram

Bought this memory for my slow desktop and it is awesome. Just opened the case, popped them in and booted up. It works perfectly and my system screams along with excellent speed. The price was incredible for the excellent quality of this product. Highly recommended!

Anyone that knows anything about computers will tell you with today's programs on your computer, more physical memory is a must. Check to see what you have and how much you can add and, chances are your computer will speed up to where it used to be. This PNY memory sure did the trick for my old Dell and the price was great on Amazon.

Don't try overclock with these. I've had people trying and fried them fresh out of the package. On a more positive note, these cards make up a good portion of the heroes that make budget PCs possible. It saves you a couple of bucks but nothing beyond general performance.

Purchased this dual kit of memory and had a problem with one of the memory sticks. In order to return the one bad stick, I must also return the only good one I have. So now I have a computer that I cannot use until PNY processes my RMA. I will never buy a dual kit and no more PNY products. Ridiculous policy. - Memory - Ddr2 - Ddr2 Memory - Pc Memory'

Network Adapters - network adapters, splitter

Read ME! Rated one star for your attention!!! You can't use this product to split the Internet line to connect two separate devices. What you are looking for is a Router or a Switch. Internet signal is a digital signal with a designated IP (Internet Protocol) address. Each Network device has to have a unique IP address and a DHCP server to releases that IP address. This device only splits the signal. It dose not assign IP addresses or act as a DHCP server. Can be used to split security cams into two monitors or feeds. HDE RJ45 Ethernet Splitter

well its my fault really but I thought this would work like a small router, connect two computers to the same cable that went into a router, unfortunately a router has to be powered and this does not work like that, I'm not exactly sure what it's for actually, but it works fine as an extension connector for two cables and it was cheap so that's what I use it for, just don't make the same dumb mistake I did, it does not provide internet access to two different devices at the same time. - Network Adapters - Ethernet Coupler - Splitter'

Forerunner - heart rate monitor, forerunner

I really did my homework in choosing a fitness watch with heart rate monitor. I ordered competing models from Garmin, Timex, Polar, and Suunto, to look them over closely and compare. Then I sent them all back but this one.

Someone pointed out that this Garmin watch is a little on the clunky side - that's true. I have a small wrist, and the watch part of it is long and flat and doesn't really fit nicely. They had to pack the GPS receiver inside the band. But no matter - with the band strapped tight, it stays put, and it's not so huge that people would say "What's that thing on her wrist?" It still looks like a watch. A funky sort of a watch maybe, but not a television set or anything.

I think you need to decide if you want GPS or not. I decided that yes, I really wanted GPS to measure my distance, because I run and jog and hike and travel quite a bit, so my routes are always changing. In my ideal world, I'd be able to pop up a map on my PC and see my route, and have a table showing all my workouts and how many miles they total, in running, biking, etc. I could finally answer the folks at the running store when they ask how many miles are on my running shoes.

I ended up with this Garmin, far and away the best choice for just what I wanted. All the other GPS solutions were separate strap-on-the-arm ones that contain AAA batteries that need to be replaced every 12 hours of operation - ouch, costly. Even with rechargables, it would be a hassle to be always taking them out, plugging them into the charger, putting them back in the arm-band-GPS unit. The watch on those other devices was just a receiver for the arm-unit. Granted, it meant that their watches could be a little smaller ... I really liked the design of the Timex the best, and the Polar was small too. But who wants to carry a clunky thing around their arm? That's one more thing to pack or lose, more batteries to buy and fuss with, more parts to break... forget it.

I also was swayed heavily by the Garmin software and tight integration with the PC and mapping software. None of the other brands, as of this writing (January 2010) had anything near as easy. Polar excels at fitness tracking, but not the mapping part. Timex and others require third-party mapping solutions that you have to manually upload and integrate with. Only Garmin had a simple plug-and-play solution. Plug in their little included USB "ANT Stick" (like a little thumb drive), and bring the watch near, and it automatically receives the data the watch stored from your workouts, loads it into your Garmin fitness/mapping program, and you can see all your stats and your routes etc.

I also liked that this unit is one of the few that tracks altitude, so you know not only how many miles, but how much total up and down you went (cumulative). It can display the data on a chart with any paramets you set, for example you can see the actual altitudes of your run along your route. That is so cool!

Other people trashed this unit because the bezel-touch operation is a hassle. One guy made the point that he just locks the screen into a view before his run starts, so he doesn't hassle with the touch thing going haywire. That is the perfect solution, and it's what I did too.

So with this Garmin watch, you only have to remember two pieces: the watch, and the charger. The charger clips right onto the watch to rejuice the battery inside. It ships with conversion plugs for international outlets.

Here's a tip that isn't clear from Garmin's specs: the GPS can be turned on or off. With the GPS on all the time, the watch will run out of juice after about 8 hours and will need to be recharged. With the GPS off, it lasts... I'm guessing at least a week (I haven't let it go that far). It works like a normal watch, tells date and time, etc. Heart rate monitor. Etc.

I was worried that this watch wouldn't work if you, say, went out in the morning for a hike, stopped for lunch, continued hiking... 8 hours wouldn't be enough. The simple solution is to turn off GPS when you don't need it, and your battery will last as long as you need it.

So, if you can afford it, this one is the only way to go, if you want GPS. I've had it a month, after handling all the others, reading their manuals, etc., and settling on this one. I'm super happy with it and love Garmin. Next generation will be even better, when they fix the bezel issue and get the watch to be even more watch-looking, but this is miles ahead of the competition as is.

** Update - I've now had this model for almost a year, and still think it is fantastic. A few things I learned - the battery lasts about 2 weeks when the GPS is turned off. The link to mapping software works great, I have a year's worth of running/biking stats and I can click on any single run to see the route. Since I travel a fair amount, it's a great memory of places. It has a handy feature where you can set a starting point, such as the parking lot of a hiking area, and then once you're completely lost, have it point the way back - you get an actual arrow pointing and a distance indicator of how far away you are from that point. It's kinda buried in all the menus, so not something you'd be able to find quickly unless you did it regularly or had the user guide right there, but I used it twice and found it a comfort knowing that, even if I got lost, I wouldn't be lost. It is also easy to switch between running and "multisport" modes, which means you can bike or jog and keep those stats separate. (That way, you're not apt to get impressed with yourself for running 20 miles, when in fact that day you were on a bike.) I have to mention that the wrist band closure is a bit of a hassle, if anyone from Garmin is reading. It has a little lock to keep the end from flapping, but in fact, it's really hard to push the locking end through the little hold-down. Just a wee bit of hassle, hardly worth mentioning. Everything else I said above is still the case. It's a great tool. Garmin Forerunner 405CX GPS Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Blue) - Heart Rate Monitor - Garmin - Forerunner - Running'

African American Romance Novel - arabesque, may december romance

A pleasant mix of a SPICY May/December romance, with plenty drama and a bit of suspense...the issues between Adam and Wynn are quite BELIEVABLE...it's also nice to catch up with Brennan and Krista Thomas from her previous novel The Way You Aren't (which I thought was an okay read)...this is an ENJOYABLE and ENGAGING read. I Can Make You Love Me

When Wynn Evans was babysitting Adam Carlyle, never would she have guessed that he would turn into the man she would fall for.

Even if he did tell her he was going to marry her when he got older.

Although, thirteen years her junior, Adam showed more maturity than Wynn when it came to their relationship. Wynn spent most of her time worrying about their age difference especially when her ex refers to him as "that boy". Adam wants to marry Wynn and help raise her two sons, but she fears what his friends and family will say. When Adam steps in to help her boys out of a bad situation, Wynn needs no more convincing that Adam is the man.

An enjoyable read even if the 13 year age difference was hard for me to grasp since Adam seemed to come off much older.

This story has an old theme - older woman with younger man but I love this story because of the modern issues

Ms. White-Owens has added as well as the level of maturity she brings to the story. The beginning and ending are also so very charming and flows well. I enjoyed this story because of the believeable and realsitc characters. Hot passion and realism makes this story very good!

Wynn Evans runs into to Adam Carlyle while having lunch. Adam recognizes her immediately, but for Wynn it takes a little longer. She never would have imagined that the cute little five year old boy she use to babysit is this extremely handsome man standing in front of her.

Adam is immediately attracted to Wynn and decides right then and there that he wants to get to know her better. Wynn can't wrap her mind around the idea that a young man as handsome and successful as Adam would want to pursue a serious relationship with her. She's a 43 years old divorcee with two young sons to raise and Adam is 13 years her junior. Despite all her misgivings, she can't resist the feeling he provokes in her and she agrees to see him. Wynn thinks they are having a fun affair that will eventually end, but Adam has something more permanent in store for them. Wynn's fears get the best of her when Adam proposes marriage and Adam's feeling are hurt.

Just when Wynn and Adam agree that they love each other and want to make their relationship work, Wynn's ex-husband Jim does the unthinkable. Adam steps up and proves he is all the man Wynn will ever need.

Although I've never been attracted to younger men, I can see why Wynn fell so hard for Adam. This was a nice read. I don't think its a must read, but you won't be disappointed either.

After reading "You're All I Need" by Karen White Owens, I decided to look up her backlist. I'm happy that I did. I found "I Can Make You Love Me", to be a delightful and satisfying read.

Adam Carlyle is a successful African American attorney waiting in line for some lunch when he notices an attractive woman in line ahead of him. After overhearing part of her cell phone conversation, he realizes that the beauty before him is his old babysitter, Wynn Evans. After he introduces himself and the two catch up, Adam decides to pursue Wynn.

Wynn Evans is just coming out of a bad marriage. She is 43 and has two small kids. She isn't looking for love or even a relationship. But there is something about Adam that she can't resist. She promises herself that she won't get serious about him and she knows he won't get serious about her. What successful, 30 year would want that baggage of a 43 year old mother of two?

I liked this tale of the Adam and Wynn. Both of them were hardworking, smart and determined. I understood why these two fell in love. Adam was a great character. He was a strong, loving man who knew what he wanted and wasn`t going to let anyone get in his way. Wynn was understandably gun-shy about trusting Adam with her heart, but I understood her reservations. She overcame them and fell in love with the man she was meant to be with.

The supporting cast was nice. It was especially nice to read about Tia and Christophe, knowing their story in "You're All I Need". Wynn's best friend was a great sounding board and the couple definitely had friends in their corner. The nay-sayers were also there to add drama to the story, but not everyone was malicious.

The chemistry between Adam and Wynn was good, but to be honest I skimmed their love scenes. I liked the spark that they had when their clothes were on. That is the hallmark of a good book for me.

"I Can Make You Love Me" was a fun afternoon read that I highly recommend. I would give it 3.5 stars, but since halves don't count here, I go with a 4 star review.

Though this book centred around a May-December relationship I found it an intelligent and classy read. The themes were mature and realistic. The concerns Wynn had about becoming involved with a much younger man rang true and Adam was just gorgeous- caring, smart and grown.

I did not find the criticism levelled at the couple unrealistic at all- even in real life people can be just as in your face and unpleasant when they don't 'get' stuff. Or just because someone is different from them.

All in all an enjoyable read about a potentially controversial issue dealt with in a fun but believable manner.

When 30yo Adam Carlyle has a chance meeting with his former babysitter Wynn Evans, he invites her to lunch and still feels the crush he's always had on her resurface. Wynn can't believe that Adam is attracted to her because she's 13yrs his senior but he sets out to prove he's mature enough to be the man she needs and the stepfather for her 2 boys. When her ex, Jim sees a younger man is interested, he tries to get back in her life and be the husband & father that he should've been all along. Great story, there was romance, the characters were mature, honest (not a lot of mind games and misunderstandings) and just enough twists to keep me interested. Well written, I'd highly recommend. - African American Romance Novel - May December Romance - Karen White-owens - Arabesque'

Electric Knife Sharpener - scissor sharpener, work sharp

The Work Sharp WSKTS Knife and Tool Sharpener is exactly the sharpener that I've been looking for! It quickly and easily makes a good convex edge on most blades, and it only took me a few minutes to get the hang of it. I profiled and sharpened three kitchen knives in five minutes, and a brush axe in ten minutes. The brush axe took more time both because the new edge profile was a lot different, and because it took me some practice to deal with the curving blade.

Pros

- It takes me an easy 35sec to change a belt.

- The belts are lasting well.

- It takes about 5 passes each side w/medium belt to put a convex edge on a typical blade.

- It takes 1-2 passes each side w/fine belt to sharpen a typical blade.

- Works for most any blade, even my Benchmade folding knife with thumbstud.

- Sharpens hard knives.

Cons

- The instructions are not great. You may round the tip or ruin a blade's temper if you follow them exactly.

- It would be easier to draw through true if the guide extended to either side 1/2", and was solid above the belt.

- Will only sharpen the flat side of a serrated blade. You'll need something like a tapering round sharpener to get the other side.

- The thumbstud on a folding knife may get in the way unless it is near the handle.

- The fine belt is generally good, but sometimes I want finer. I searched online, but couldn't find any.

- There is no 15deg knife guide.

- The WSKTS quickly gets hot; you're not supposed to use it for more than 20min.

Tips

- Practice drawing the blade through with the motor off.

- As you draw through, change the angle of the blade to keep the belt-to-edge contact uniform.

- The belt will conform to the knife tip as you draw it though, which will round the tip of the knife. I avoid this by drawing through the same, but turning off the motor just as the tip of the knife reaches the belt.

- During the initial edge re-profiling, be careful that the knife doesn't get too hot, which will ruin the temper. I worked with three knifes at a time to avoid this.

- I alternate sides every pass, both to help keep the edge symmetric, and to minimize the number of passes.

- I only use the downward side of the belt; this seems safer and perhaps the belt will last longer.

- For a curving blade like a brush axe, I work in sections, being careful to vary and feather the sections each pass. Work Sharp WSKTS Knife and Tool Sharpener

I bought this device yesterday, and today about 20 of my kitchen knives are razor sharp. With a machine shop background, I was familiar with small "3 wheel belt sanders" - we used to sharpen shop tools with them 40 years ago! Work sharp has essentially crossed a mini - belt sander with a mini electric chainsaw power head and "Walla" - the Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener!!! Well built, and with angle guides to make sharpening a snap, it is a great little tool. One big advantage of this sharpener (over stones, wheels and other "hard" sharpeners) is that the belt will FLEX. That allows for contouring to a blade, and also prevents grinding off excessive metal. With three grades of abrasive belts, there is wide versatility for sharpening, grinding and honing. The belts seem to be holding up very well, and can be swapped out in just a few seconds. Also of interest to me is that the "belt head" can be rotated to several positions - allowing for standard sharpening, compact storage, and also use as a mini finishing / deburring tool! Quite ingenious.

As a former chef, restaurateur and food service professional, I've had a life-long interest in sharp knives. It took me years to master a good set of oil stones and no machine has come close to replacing them for me. Then along comes the Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener.

For my first trial, not wanting to risk a good knife to a machine, I selected an old abused chef's knife and in short order returned it to excellent working order using the Work Sharp! I discovered that the Work Sharp leaves no mess to clean up and poses very little risk to the blade, even in the hands of a novice.

Since that first blade, I have trued up numerous neglected knives in professional kitchens with the same great results. At less than half the price of a good set of oil stones, I recommend every professional and home cook add one to their must-have list!

I received the Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener as a gift, and I can honestly say this product is AWESOME!!! For years I have tried wet stones, oil stones, dry stones and all kinds of knife sharpening tools and for the life of me, I could never get a decent result! Within 5 minutes of receiving the Work Sharp product I had figured out how to use it (a quick glance through the manual is recommended, I know, real men do not read instructions, but in this case it really helps - especially when trying to figure out how to change the different levels of abrasive belts).

Needless to say, I probably sharpened 25 knives, including my wife's pride and joy Shun and Gerber knives, to razer sharp levels! The differing knife guides that come with the product make it really hard to screw-up! I am an accountant, not a mechanic, and I achieved amazing results. I went around the house sharpening the kitchen knives, my pocket knives and even some of my father's hunting knives that I inherited. Within 20 minutes, all of the knives were amazingly sharp!!!

The other nice thing is that I did not put scratched all over the blades, like what has happened to me in the past. This product really works well. I cannot give it any higher praise!!!!

Any user will find this tool invaluable! Its video instructions are easily understood. I have not found a really great sharpener until now. Congratulations, Worksharp, on a fine and very useful product! - Electric Knife Sharpener - Electric Sharpener - Work Sharp - Scissor Sharpener'

Cell Phone Battery - cell phone battery, battery

The seller sent me a lower power battery with a different snn#. I would not trust this seller - this switch after purchase makes them unreliablein my opinion. Seller DOES NOT HAVE this item in stock and switches to the BR50 if you order this item. When I called, they will either refund my money or try to sell me the replacement at a reduced cost. So, why is this item still listed for sale from them on Amazon?? NEW Motorola Standard Capacity Lithium-Ion Battery 780 mAh This Battery is a Factory Original Battery, Designed And Built Specifically For The Motorola RAZR V3,V3a, V3C, V3M Cell Phone Models

Buyers Beware....The battery depicted adjacent to the item description is NOT the battery I received for my v3M. I received an older, first generation Motorola battery for the v3M which has a black casing. Although the battery is compatible and appears to be functioning satisfactorily at this point, it was clearly NOT the item represented on the website. The second generation (newer) Motorola batteries for the v3M contain black graphics on a white background-as pictured on the website. This is deceptive and somewhat misrepresentational. My suggestion is to check and verify by contacting the merchant prior to purchasing the item. The term "new" simply implies that the item has not been used and has nothing to do with how long the item has been stored or inventoried. Remember... Batteries lose capacity the longer that they have been stored. Always get the latest generation/version and check the date/production codes if at all possible. These are usually embossed on the casing of the cell. Refuse to purchase from a vendor who does not or will not furnish you with this information-it is critical in insuring that you are receiving fresh merchandise.

Please note, that the listing I am reviewing has been changed by Amazon.com because the seller (BargainCell) misrepresented the product - this, however, was the only aide that I was given from Amazon.com. I tried to rate the item without any star at all, unfortunately the rating system here will not allow this. The original listing, from which I ordered, listed a 780 mAh with a SNN5794A. This was clearly stated in the headline of the ad and the photograph clearly showed this. I was sent a BR50, which the retailer also carried and had listed for half the price of the battery I ordered. When I emailed and called to tell them they had sent the wrong battery I was told they did not carry, and had never carried, the battery I ordered. I was surprised and expressed that surprise since the item was clearly photographed and described in the headline of their ad. Four weeks later, after many emails and a phone call, my money was refunded, including shipping costs. However, in order to receive the refund, I had to pay for certified return shipping to the retailer, which they refused to pay. In the end it cost me $3 and a lot of time to look at and hold the wrong battery. My happy ending, I ordered the original battery on Ebay for less than half the cost and had it in less than half the time.

I did receive a battery in a timely fashion, however, I was sent the wrong battery! In contacting BargainCell, I was told the Amazon ad was incorrect: the battery listed is what I want, the battery received was a different battery that would not operate the phone. The company sent me a no postage required USPS mailing label and told me I might want to spend 75 cents for a return receipt. Being uninformed about USPS practices, I went to the post office, handed them the envelope with the return label attached and asked to add a return receipt. The postal worker informed me that it wasn't possible to add any services to a prepaid label. Further, if I wanted a return receipt, I would have to pay for the mail charge and the additional service for a total of almost $7. The battery cost less than $9 so, no, I did not pay for the shipping. Now, as you might have anticipated, BargainCell claims not to have received the returned battery and I simply gave them $9 for nothing. No, I am not a happy customer and rate this exchange one (1) star only because Amazon's system doesn't appear to support zero (0) stars.

razr v3 Batteries must be rejects or fakes or expired. They only hold enough charge for one call before empty. They swelled after recharging and barely held a charge. Worse than 2 year old originals. Don't buy! Got BR50 710mah labeled battery just like some others , not the 780mah advertised. Shame on Amazon for carrying them and defrauding customers. Total waste of money buying from Bargain Cell!

The wrong battery was shipped. After some back and forth it was determined by them that the listing was wrong so I got my money back less the 75 cents I paid for delivery confirmation. I bought from someone else since they could not supply what was listed.

I had the same experience as AJ Glazer. Bargain Cell did not ship the OEM battery I ordered, but sent the BR50 instead. This after I had preemptively called Bargain Cell to verify they had the OEM battery in stock and would be shipping that model. I kept the BR50 because I needed a battery and for $10 it was not worth the time required to go through the return and replace routine. However I will NOT be doing future business with Bargain Cell. - Motorola - Razr Battery - Cell Phone Battery - Battery'

Wall Mount - lcd wall mount, tv mounts

I bought the unit and was very skeptical due to the price point. But, I read the online reviews and felt confident enough to buy the unit. I was not disappointed at all. The unit appears to be made of sturdy construction. I thought the unit might be bulky, but it appears to have a profile similar to units costing over $100. The unit was fairly easy and straight forward to install. I am no craftsman, but I have some mechanical skill. If you are a do-it-yourself-er, there is no reason to spend $100 for a more expensive unit that does exactly the same thing. I was also very happy that the unit came with a large variety of screws, bushings, and washers. I did not need to hunt down my own screws or do any make shift adjustments. It bolted up clean straight out of the box. By the way, I used the kit to mount a 50" Panasonic Plasma. VideoSecu Tilt TV Wall Mount bracket for Most 32"- 55" LED LCD Plasma Flat Screen TV, MF607B 1QH

This has to be the best buy I've had in years! This VideoSecu TV wall mount is sturdy and easy to put up. The hardest part, for me,was finding the wall studs. I looked at mounts in stores around here. The cheapest was $89. I paid $19 each ,for the two,I bought. I bought two,for less than half, of one, here. One mount holds my 50" Samsung. The second mount holds my 42" Vizio. I also like the tilting part of the mount. This is a first time buy, from Amazon, but won't be my last.

I like everyone else on here was pretty skeptical when I ordered these. But after reading all the reviews I had to try them out before purchasing a mount for about $100. These mounts were a piece of cake to install but what was suprising was how much hardware they gave you. You will definetely not have to run to the hardware store. Also the quality was good. I didn't see any bad looking welds or anything. These mounts look great on the wall and keep the tv pretty tight to it. The finished product looked great. As for the quality, great!! The reason I say this is I just mounted two tv's last weekend and we had a 5.9 Earthquake the other day. This was the one thing that worried me. Would the mount be able to withstand the walls twisting. They didn't move an inch. Great product, great price!! If I need to mount another tv I would buy another one of these in a second. Buy it, you will be happy!!

This wall mount is an incredible bargain. It feels strong, installs easy, and is less that 2" deep, all at a fraction of the cost of mounts sold at the brick&mortar stores. Even at Wal-Mart, the cheapest bracket was $100!

Also, because the design uses two horizontal rails as opposed to a solid plate against the wall, there is space between the rails for power outlets, etc. I actually built a little recess in my wall between the rails to tuck wires. It works great!

One word of caution though: DO NOT rely on the bubble level which comes installed in this wall mount! Mine was off enough that I could tell it wasn't level when I stood back and looked at it. I verified by placing a true level on top of the wall mount, and sure enough, I had to reintall the wall mount. I guess this advice probably applies to any wall mount with a built-in level. Don't trust them!

Wow, I bought three flat screens for my business and didn't want to spend a fortune mounting them. This wall mount was inexpensive, well built and included all the hardware needed to mount numerous different TVs. This, my friends, is the way to go.

I wasn't sure to order it when I started reading other comments, some were positive and other kind of scary saying that the tv might fall of the wall.

But if it is installed correctly it has no problem, even in an apartment that does not have the best walls.

So overall I'm very happy with my purchase, and I recommend it. - Lcd Wall Mount - Wall Mount - Tv Wall Mount - Tv Mounts'

Button Cell - button cell, watch batteries

The battery died on my watch, I took it to a kiosk at a local mall and they quoted $10 to replace it. I decided to do it myself, went to Amazon.com and for $10 I purchased 5 of these batteries along with a tool for opening the back of my watch. It took 5 minutes and now I have replacements for the next 5 years. Definitely worth doing yourself, watch's now running fine. Energizer 395 / 399 Silver Oxide 5 Batteries (SR927W / SR927SW)

The batteries themselves are in good shape and good quality. The shipping is super fast. I get them in 2 days so the seller is very prompt. It could be that the seller is located in the same state also.

The title says it all. Frankly I'll probably never get to use all five of these batteries because my watch uses about 1 every 2 years! But for the price, how could I refuse! They arrived quickly and worked perfectly. Enough said! Best deal ever!

These batteries are normally 5$ a piece, and hard to find in stores. My watch takes 4 of them (diving watch). I ordered this pack of 5 for 3$ plus shipping. At first I thought it was kind of odd to pay 4$ in shipping for a 3$ product, but I still saved over 65% by going through Amazon. The batteries arrived in a few days and work perfectly, should last at least another 5 years. - Watch Batteries - Button Cell - Battery - Watches'
