Lingerie

It's almost impossible to find cotton slips these days. I was so happy to find this Lady Romance brand--in so many sizes! I purchased one for myself in a size larger than I usually wear, and was glad that I did; the waist runs a bit small. The slip itself is very roomy and very soft. The only two things that I would wish for are that this slip came in a beige, and that it had a shadow panel. I plan to wear it with a light, filmy gauze cotton skirt made in India. The skirt is rather see-through, so I plan to sew a shadow panel onto the slip. Because I am so happy with this slip, I did order another one for my daughter. She usually wears a 2X in skirts and slips, so I ordered hers in size 3X. I hope it will work out for her, too. 806 1x White Lady Romance Cotton Half Slip

I ordered this slip to wear in the Middle East where modesty is a must. I got cotton because it is so hot over here. The slip runs a little small and is short... too short for my tastes. I think it is over priced, as well.'

Ergonomic Mouse - wireless mouse, small mouse

I used the V220 mouse in XP, Vista and Linux. All three systems recognized and installed the mouse in a few seconds. The mouse is a slightly small however the contours make it feel very comfortable in your hand. Response was smooth and the buttons and trackball have very nice feel while in use. So you wonder why I only gave it 3 stars. This is the problem. After some use the mouse causes my all of browser windows to scroll to the bottom. As soon as the mouse is over the browser window it immediately goes to the bottom of the page. This happens both in Firefox and Explorer. The only solution I have found is to turn off the mouse for a few seconds.

The software from Logitech is bloated and of little practical value. Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks (Cobalt Blue)

I bought two of these at Christmas time, one as a gift for my wife for her Dell 4100 desktop PC and the other for my IBM ThinkPad laptop computer. We have struggled with a couple wired mice over the years and had enough of the dust balls invading the mice. The Logitech V220 had numerous good reviews and the price was reasonable, especially with free Amazon shipping. They arrived soon after ordering and were put into service on Christmas day. Installation was plug and play for the receiver into a USB port. There is a download available for adding additional features. The mouse can be configured for various buttons. The mice came with an alkaline AA battery for each. Some of the reviews indicated battery life of up to 6 months. One of the mice lasted about one month. The other is still working 2 months later. I was curious about the current consumption as a retired electrical engineer and was able to measure the current on each. It turned out the current draw was identical for the two so I concluded the supplied batteries were not equal when purchased new. The mouse draws about 100uA static and about 14mA when in use. If the USB receiver is piggybacked onto the mouse when not in use the mouse is shut off completely, it appears. The performance is great, no problems. The Dell desktop has the USB ports in the back and I was concerned that the location might affect the wireless path but it turned out it worked fine. I would recommend this unit to all. There is no need to spend more on laser units.

I usually don't write negative reviews, but the frustration from this mouse has added some extra motivation for me.

In the beginning everything was great, it worked wonderfully and seemed to serve its purpose very well. After a few months I starrted noticing some tracking problems, but quickly put it aside as a failing battery. After replacing the battery I still had problems, until one day it just stopped working.

Through some deduction I realized that problem is not with the mouse, but with the large clunky usb drive. The size, much larger than newer models, is such that it will get bumped occasionally, many times without notice.

The usb drive is so cheaply made ( as evidence I took it apart only to find a thin copper plate secured by a couple pieces of scotch tape tape) that even the occasional nudge will destroy this excessively fragile device. This is a problem. For desktop users, it may never be an issue, but for laptop owners there are better options.

The current version 4/2009 of the Logitech V220 mouse does not have the same accurate function as the version I purchased about three years ago. It does not release from left button functions and is often slow to move the cursor when not used for a few minutes.

I purchased the Logitech V220 notebook mouse a few weeks after buying my new notebook for college. I'm pleased with its performance so far; I've had it about one month.

The battery life is listed at 6 months, with regular usage. The mouse includes a useful on/off feature, however, which is manual or automatically done by inserting the USB receiver in the bottom of the mouse.

I was happy that the mouse included a AA battery, despite not listing this on the packaging. The battery life light, located on top, glows green for just a few seconds after turning the mouse on. Another useful feature, which I appreciate.

For ergonomics, know that this mouse is rather small, due to it being a notebook mouse. Dimensions are roughly 2.5-3 inches long, 1.5-2 inches wide, 1 inch tall. It fits my hand well, and I'm 6 feet tall with larger sized hands. The clicks are responsive, as is the scroll wheel, both forward/backward and side-to-side.

Software for the mouse can be obtained from [..]. The software (Logitech Setpoint) allows customization a bit further, such as mouse speed, left/right click settings, middle click settings, among other features.

Overall a great mouse, very accurate and with long lasting battery life (afaict). - Cordless - Wireless Mouse - Small Mouse - Laser Mouse'

Replacement Spout - faucet, tub

I bought this tub spout as a last ditch effort before calling a plumber to repair a pipe since the previous tub spout(s) had a screw to secure the spout to the pipe which had created a groove in the pipe. This groove caused water to spray out of the back of another new tub spout when you pulled up the diverter rod to use the shower (the replacement tub spout used same screw setup).

I found some post on the Internet that praised this particular model so I gave it a try. The main points that made me purchase this item was that it had a "yoke" that clamps around the pipe instead of the screw going into the pipe to hold it in place. It also had a cup washer/cup seal in the diverter that prevents water from leaking out of the diverter when the shower is in use. This washer is replaceable.

This tub spout worked for me. No leaking problems. The tub spout is plastic with a chrome finish. I would rather have metal, but since it saved me

from calling a plumber to fix a job that should have been easy, I will not dock it a star. Moen 3931 Tub Diverter Spout, Chrome

After going through two different piece of crap tub spouts from Home Depot and Sears, I ordered this one based on the review above. Install could not have been simpler - slide it on, turn the screw. The other ones required sliding on a sleeve, then an o-ring, threading on another sleeve over the first one, pipe taping the end of that one, threading on the spout, unthreading to adjust the length, wash-rinse-repeat and they both STILL leaked. Considering the time I wasted going to 2 different stores and trying to get them to work, spending the extra $10 on this Moen is MORE than worth it.

This was purchased to replace the one I had destroyed by using the wrong cleaning products. It seemed easy enough to install, but there was always about 1/2" of pipe protruding from the wall to the spout. I ended up bracing the pipe on the other side of the wall after installing the new spout in order to keep the pipe from being visible. The spout is nothing special, but I do like the slip fit. - Tub Spout - Spout - Tub - Faucet'

Male Frontal Nudity - jeremy piven, nirvana

Get ready to thoroughly enjoy yourself in spite of envious deviants out there who didn't like this movie! It's full of hilarious, snappy dialogue, awesomely delivered by the likes of Jeremy Piven and John McGinley (in stellar supporting parts) as well as Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhaal who have amazingly great chemistry together, combined with left of center morality.

If you want to watch this movie because you're a fan of Kurt Cobain - don't bother. However, if you want to go for a frolic in the fields or leave your inhibitions at the door of the "Dan D. Fine", then this movie is a great ride that will not disappoint! (And you'll get all my esoteric references too) Highway

Why on earth am I giving this movie five stars? Its plot is minimal. The script has words and phrases I've never heard, and I'm not sure were ever really used in the real world. And to top that off, it's more than a little unbelievable.

However, despite all of the possible downsides, I really enjoyed it. Honestly, I'm normally not into these kinds of films, but it was just good fun. The humor wasn't disgusting and gross. The chemistry between the actors made the on screen relationships believable (even if I don't ever buy the whole love at first sight scenario), and there wasn't some great moral constantly being shoved down my throat.

All in all, it was just a fun movie to watch, and it's been a long time since a movie simply put a smile on my face.

Highway (James Cox, 2002)There are any number of reasons to watch James Cox's first feature film, Highway (not least of which because Cox directed one of 2003's most talked-about and controversial films, Wonderland). It's hard to say the film itself is one of them, oddly enough. It centers around two stoned-out buddies, Pilot (the always wonderful Jake Gyllenhaal) and Jack (Jared Leto, looking for all the world like Charlie Sheen in Repo Man here). Jack, the womanizer, has found himself in bed with the wrong woman, the trophy wife of a mob boss, and needs to get out of Las Vegas. He and Pilot head for Seattle after one of the most surreal drug buys in all of film (the dealer played by Jeremy Piven, recently seen in Black Hawk Down and Very Bad Things, deserves a film all to himself). Along the way, they find themselves repeatedly entangled with a homeless runaway (Selma Blair) and an old hippie trying to get to Seattle for the Kurt Cobain vigil (John C. McGinley). The stage is set, and the movie makes its Easy Rider-esque way through the West. The main reason to see this movie is that Jake Gyllenhaal and Jared Leto are fantastic actors. Blair (soon to be in the much-hyped Hellboy) and McGinley make great foils for the two. I'd be hard-pressed to call this a comedy, but it does have its share of uncomfortably funny lines. It ends up, however, being (as odd as this sounds) a lighthearted tale about the myriad ways in which one's dreams can be shattered.Did I like it? I still haven't figured that out. Would I recommend it? Without hesitation. *** ½

Highway is a quirky indy road movie (there is even a Jack Kerouac quote at the end of the film)which I found to be pretty good: sadly tragic characters, bittersweet ending, lessons learned. Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhaal are the film -- their portrayal of boyhood friends tightly bonded and loyal to each other propels the film along. There are two hilarious and great supporting performances given by Piven and McGinley, drug dealer and aging hippy, respectively. And for those of you who are Leto fans, this is a must-not miss movie -- Jared Leto in this movie is hot, horny and sexy! His charisma and body are irresistably smoking hot!

I can not believe how harsh critics have been about this movie! I've never seen anything like it. As always, Jared Leto gets as many freaking fingers I can possibly put up for his performance. He was intense and amazing. Jake Gyllenhaal was also wonderful, bringing light undertones to a would-be dark and dubious character. I thought that film critics were not paying attention and did not catch some beautiful moments in the film. PS:I reccomend REQUIEM FOR A DREAM to ANYONE!!!

I watched this movie with very low expectations, but I was very surprised. It was terrifically acted by all of the three leads (Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhaal, Selma Blair), and they made all of the characters likable even though no one of them were honorable people. The performances save this movie from a weak plot. And while this movie is definitely not for everyone, I reccomend it to people who want to see a movie that is different from every other movie out there.

As a Jared Leto fan I have seen most of his movies and of all of them Highway is my favorite. It was never meant to be a huge blockbuster movie with some deep moralistic plot intended to launch the cast into superstardom. This is simply a fun movie about friendship, love and taking people for what they are. Leto and Gyllenhal are great as a pair of stoner kids from the wrong side of the Vegas tracks who have to hit the road after Jack (Jared Leto) gets in some very hot water with the local mob boss. On the way to Seattle they meet a cast of colorful characters that add comic relief and the plot's love story. John C. McGinley and Jeremy Piven are priceless, they steal any scene they are in.

Overall, while not Oscar worthy this movie has a good story, good humor and is very well acted. As far as indie flicks go for me, it was a 10.

This movie was a surprise. Expecting a naive and surface-only journey into the drug culture of today, it went into the dark crevices of the human heart and yet, maintained a sense of humor, regardless of the subject matter. Jake Gyllenhaal proved once again that his selection of diverse movie roles sets him apart from all other of the new actors, this role of Pilot not being an exception to the rule. Jake, like Brando, Nicholson and Penn, has again made a wise choice displaying his intensity and moodiness that is so appealing in diversification. He has not even gotten close to showing his full potential, but I imagine it will blossom further and to the delight of hard core performance seekers like me. I recommend this movie on many levels. It's a broad spectrum of film genre from a road movie, to a comedic tapestry, to a character study, to the ultimate end, a satisfying ending. I recommend this movie to those who are looking for more than a laugh and a tear. This is for us who are starving for solid performances and intellect, and the ever-medicated value of laughter. Well done. - Nirvana - Jake Gyllenhaal - Jeremy Piven - Male Frontal Nudity'

World Music - pop, bellydance

This album is fantastic -- highly danceable, and fun to just listen to. It's very modern-sounding, with regular nods to traditional Turkish music. It's one of the best albums I've picked up in a while, and to get it for free is amazing. But it was a great marketing ploy -- I'd never heard of any of these artists, and I've already put a few of them on my iTunes wish list. Turkish Hits Vol. 1

I've only listened to the album once -- and picked out 5 songs I know I'll really like;

Askim Baksana Bana

Senden Baska

Çakkidi

Dilli Düdük

Yol Arkadasim (this has become my favorite - it's a fantastic song!)

(I also ended up really liking A'k Hiç bitmez (Yaramaz'm))

I love world music, so I was thrilled I got to get this album free -- I recommend getting it, even if you have to buy it.

The music is really catchy, and beautiful. The feel is like pop, kind of, but being Turkish there are non-conventional instruments and sounds. Some of them are more hip-hop, others maybe fall into a folk category. All in all a great variety, I enjoy it.

I remember hearing all of the "Hits in 1966 - 68" while sitting in a popular local Ankara,Turkey Beauty parlour.... and my oh my; I'm thinkin' most of these wouldn't fly w/ the military regime I experienced while there.... this stuff is actually catchy, decent and you can dance to a lot of it. I never thought I'd like a collection of Turkish hits; but I do !

Bored and wanting something new, I went through the Amazon free downloads and tried just about everything. Most of the downloads were "Okay, I tried that. Next!" but this one is a keeper. I enjoyed it quite a bit in spite of not knowing anything about Turkish music. It's upbeat, interesting, with the songs being different from one another (too much pop music sounds all the same), and with good voices that can be enjoyed for their sound even if you don't understand the language. If you're curious about Middle Eastern music, this modern Turkish pop would be a way to ease into it.

I didn't expect much from this free music download except mediocre music and maybe a semi decent tune or two but was pleasantly surprised to hear some really good music. Great for bellydancing or any kind of dancing. My favorites on this album are Melek, Dilli Düdük, ?eytan. This is a great find!

Every single song rocks. I'll definitely be adding music to my collection from several of these artists. If you like Bollywood music, definitely try this free download. There are many catchy dance beats with a very definite Eastern flavor.

This is so awesome! These are quality artists for free. I already have some music from Tarkan, Candan Erçetin, K'raç, Nazan Öncel, and Gülben Ergen. You're not dredging the bottom of the barrel here, this is a nice representation of contemporary music in Turkey. :D Still can't believe it's free! Liked every song.

This is a really fun album even if you don't know Turkish. Upbeat, electronic dance pop genre but not formulaic. I especially like the song Dilli Düdük, I sometimes listen to it a couple times in a row and am amazed. - Pop - Belly Dance - Bellydance - Turkey'

Swimming - swimming, waterproof player

Speedo Aquabeat Waterproof MP3 Player

I was, at one time, a competative sprinter, now train purely for health benefits...I swim laps in a 25 yard pool now (2-2.5 miles a day/5 days a week). I was just looking for a simple H2O proof MP3 player that was reliable and easy to use. I don't require outstanding sound quality or a bunch of bells and whistles from an MP3 player. After doing A LOT of research and reading all the reviews on all the available waterproof MP3 players out there I settled on the speedo aqua beat and ordered it from Amazon.com, here's my analysis of the product...

THE PLAYER - small, lightweight with easy to use controls and fits on most goggle straps. I swim with swedish goggs and the straps are a bit thin. This makes mounting the goggles on the back of your head kind of tricky because if you don't get it just right, the player has a tendency to pop off when pushing off the wall or doing a flip turn (VERY ANNOYING)...the drag is negligable from the device while swimming along, but with any kind of a strong push off the wall, it almost always slides down to the base of the back of your head even with VERY tight goggle straps (also VERY ANNOYING)...recommend using goggles with a wide strap if you're going to use this product. Of note, the internal, computer OSB rechargeable battery is a nice feature and the player can be used with other sets of headphone as a "dry land" MP3 as well.

THE SOFTWARE - easy to use, music can be easily drag-and-dropped into the "removable" hard drive that pops up on your computer...Note - you have to plug the player up to your computer's OSB port and allow it to charge 1 full time before you can load music to it (takes about 2 hours to charge) and the single LED on the player will turn from amber to green when it's fully charged. I was over-zealous and tried to load music on to the player within the first half hour of the first charge with no luck.

THE EARPHONES - These were the biggest let down in the whole package...they do come with 3 different sizes of triple flange rubber ear pieces, and while I have what I assume to be average size ears/ear canals, I could never really achieve a proper seal with any of the three sizes of plugs. These headphones REQUIRE a water tight seal to work properly...and even when you do get that seal, the minute you start swimming and turning your head to breath, the movement of your head or while streamlining off the wall makes the seal change and therefore VERY susceptable to water entry...BOTTOM line, they just don't fit well...ultimately your ear canal fills with water and the sound is no longer audible. This requires constant "fiddling" with the ear pieces after each lap and severly detracts from your workout. Also, in order to get a good seal the ear pieces need to fit very tightly, this causes ear canal pain over time...not being a wimp on this one, I can certainly hack the pain... and would have gladly accepted that as part of the deal if that were the only issue with the earphones! Additionally, after 1 use, my headphones developed a short in one of the wires to one side of the earphones...I'm not holding this against the product in my "number of stars" review as it may have only been a one time incident with my particular Aquabeat...but be aware that the wires from the player to the headphones are VERY thin and appear to be quite susceptible to fatigue/failure or shorting out after only a few uses. ALL in ALL this was a DISAPPOINTING PRODUCT, especially for how much it costs...I've elected to return the player to Amazon based on the defective short in the headphones. By the way, Amazon is great with their return policy and it's quite easy to do with a few clicks online. I've decided on trying the "bone conduction system" of the Fini-swiMP3-V2, and will order that from Amazon when my aquabeat is refunded.

In short, I would not recommend wasting your time and money on the Speedo Aquabeat MP3 player.

I'll write a Fini-SwiMP3 review in a couple weeks when I've had the chance to fully test that one out! Speedo AquaBeat 1GB MP3 Player - Black

This product is great. I had read some of the reviews prior to purchasing and it was really hit or miss. Perhaps it really just depends on what you are expecting. My expectations were for soley to have music while I worked out. I bought this to wear for my morning lap swimming. This was my first mp3 player of any kind.

It was very easy to set-up and I've even taken to wearing it during my runs as well with a regular pair of headphones. The sound quality to me is great; I have not noticed any difference between regular headphones and the waterproof ones provided while I am swimming.

The unit is very light and easy to attach to a pair of goggles. It doesn't affect my swimming, I hardly notice it at all. Every once in a while the wire will lay against the side of my neck but after a couple of strokes it will correct itself and go back to where you don't even notice it.

I did have an issue with my first pair of headphones having different volumes and then the right side completely giving out randomly with sound. Speedo was very efficient and sent me a new pair that arrived in a couple of days at no cost. These second headphones have not caused me any problems. I don't know if it is because I wear a swimcap so the cap is pushing the headphones against my head but I will have to say they are not the most comfortable headhphones I've ever worn. Once I've started swimming they don't bother me, but afterwards my ears are sore for a couple of moments after I take them out. Does it bother me enough to stop using them? No. Would they make me consider giving up on using the Aquabeat? Not a chance.

I purchased the Aquabeat so I could listen to audio books while swimming.

This player does meet my minimum requirements. The sound quality is good and the earplugs effectively block out pool noise. Speedo provides several different plug sizes to ensure a good fit and I can hear the words clearly and follow the lecture or story I am listening to. Also, the player fits securely to my goggles strap and has coiled earbud wires that do not get in the way.

However, there are some features that are missing or were badly implemented, including:

1. No battery indicator - can t tell if the battery is low.

2. No way to sort the MP3s numerically or alphabetically. I had to merge the mp3 files to ensure I was listening to the chapters sequentially.

3. Unable to fast-forward within a file -- just between files.

4. The reverse and forward buttons double as on and off. It is easy to accidentally shut of the player -- or forward to a different file when you just want to shut it off.

5. No LED display.

6. Slow USB transfer rate - takes about 8-10 minutes to copy 250MB.

Overall, I am satisfied but not impressed. - Swimming - Waterproof Player - Waterproof Mp3 - Aquatic Mp3 Player'

Do not buy this product or you will have to return it!! Ankle weights do not wrap around your ankle. They cover the front and then the strap covers the back which makes them very uncomfortable. I will be returning this product and so will you if you decide to purchase them! Reebok Adjustable Ankle Weight (5 -Pounds)

Third Generation Kindle - case, protector

OK, seriously, I had been looking for weeks for a practical, reasonably priced Kindle 3 cover that I could read from with ease and has a nice enough appearance and this finally appeared. I am on a very strict budget and thought that if it did its job, even if it didn't turn out so great, it wouldn't be a big deal and it would hold me over until I found something I liked better. I was going crazy having to leave my Kindle at home because I was not risking injury by taking it out with me without a case! This came in yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased! It looks and feels nice, it is very well constructed and my Kindle fits perfectly. I even shook it over a soft surface to give it a test run and it held up perfectly. I can fold back to front cover to read with one hand without damaging the material and the front pocket can hold a little notepad for those of us who prefer taking hand written notes. I highly recommend this to EVERYONE who is appalled at the unreasonably priced Kindle holders that are on the market right now. If you are concerned about style, I'm sure some fabric stickers would pimp this out very nicely ;)

I DID want a cover that I could read out of with one hand, hold a note pad AND zipped completely closed for ultimate protection, but no such thing exists right now for the K3. The screen protector will give added protection, and I'm sure you can buy/make a simple sleeve that this case could fit into if you do extensive traveling or are just very cautious.

VERY happy! :D And BTW, for those of you as thorough as I am, this IS for the Latest (3rd) Generation Kindle. CrazyOnDigital Kindle 3G 3rd Generation Leather Case with Screen Protector

If you can give up on leather and fancy-attached lights, buy this cover!

Cover

-----

Fit:

Fits my Kindle 3G perfectly enough to not give room to shift. The listing photos do a great job of showing off how this is constructed, with two non-stretchy strips supporting the Kindle on the bottom corners, and two snappy elastic bands to keep the reader snug. Once secure, there's about 1/8" extra cover all around the Kindle, which should provide a little protection against scratching the corners and sides or against dropping the thing. I wondered if I could slip a silicone sleeve around the Kindle body, to protect the sides, and then tuck them into the cover, but I'm not sure there's enough room.

The Kindle keeps in place even if I hold from the cover at any angle and shake. I can't say the same for my Kindle 1 original cover, which did the job fine but barely clipped onto unit and left a lot of room for the Kindle to flap about. In contrast, I was confident from the first few seconds tucking my Kindle 3 into this cover that the reader will be held securely in place, no slipping, sliding, or tipping out.

I have not seen the official Kindle 3 cover in action, but I'm leery of the cover only hooking onto the plastic side of the reader (at only 2 points), then folding the front cover back like a paperback, which I'd be afraid would snap either the cover hooks or the Kindle hook-holes.

Another reviewer noted that the bottom strips holding the Kindle 3 down obstruct the "shift", "back", and "directional" buttons. The pictures show this pretty accurately even if they're hard to see, so while the buttons aren't actually covered, the strips do slow down button presses just a bit. The shift and back keys aren't use very often, though, so that's not an issue. The directional button is still usable with thumb presses, and even without the cover I preferred to use my nails for the direction button anyway, a method which is little affected by the cover. If the negligible effect on the buttons is still too much to bear, the straw hack given by the other reviewer seems easy to do, and given the sensibility of the design, there's about 1/8" to lift the Kindle up and away from the bottom strips affecting the buttons.

Feel:

The cover basically doubles or triples the thickness of the Kindle, which actually makes the thin reader much easier to hold. Since the magnetic closure just flaps around when it is open, I clip it to the front cover when it is folded back, even though it does make the right side 6x thicker than the Kindle. The upside is the front cover doesn't flap around, making for a solid thing to hold. And even with this, holding with either or both hands is still very comfortable.

The total weight with Kindle and cover feels like a thin hardcover novel, although, in the shape and size of a thin softcover novel folded back, it's still very nice to hold. If I'm lying down, I can still get a usable hold, with access to page turn buttons: I make the shape of a "W" with my index fingers up and thumbs touching, then rest the bottom of the Kindle against my palms, have my thumbs centered just under the display, and index fingers centered on either side of the display. The rest of my fingers press against the back. In that way I can balance the Kindle without tiring out my thumbs.

Materials:

The cover is made of leatherette material, although it still looks classy even up close. The material is comfortable to hold and textured to give decent grip as long as your hands aren't too moist. I can't say how it will hold up to normal wear and tear, stretching, rubbing, and scraping, but this may be the only real difference between these value cases and most of the $40+ cases using real leather. CrazyOnDigital "branded" their logo on the back bottom spine corner, but it's not very visible (say, 0.3" by 1"). There is no weird chemical smell or anything, which I've gotten from some fake leather.

The inner lining is some kind of cheap-ish fake suede, but it's still comfortable to run my hand against. Plus, there's only a small area where my hand is in contact with it, because of the front cover inner pocket which is covered in the same leatherette material as the cover.

The stitching seems really good, it's really hard to see where the stitches meet, and they are spaced regularly and follow the curves of the cover pieces. Everything is securely stitched together, although the main one-piece leatherette of the cover halves is only stitched on the outside edges, so that the material puffs out a little in the process of folding the cover back. It's fine once it's done folding back, no kinks, pinching, or anything.

The stiff board in the cover (front and back) is probably cardboard similar to that used in medium-duty office/school ring binders, suitable for stability and protection, but I wouldn't bend it. The spine is flexible with no cardboard. Likewise, I wouldn't put too much pressure on the front cover centered over the display area (don't go poking things anywhere in the vicinity of the display). Good enough for a bag, possibly even full sandwiching, but no jabbing or bending.

The magnet clasp snaps definitively into place and is strong enough to pretty much require a direct lifting of the clasp to open it. It adds thickness a bit like a knob on a door, but it seems like a very good tradeoff for securing the cover without resorting to more expensive or clumsier designs.

Other:

All the fiddly bits like power control and USB port on the bottom of the Kindle is accessible without removing the Kindle.

This covers up the speakers on the back of the Kindle, but even leaving the factory packaging plastic on the back (why peel it off?) you still have a lot of slack to turn the volume control up. You could also use headphones, or, if you're like me, stick to using the Kindle for old-fashioned reading and leave the music and audiobooks to mp3 players.

I'm wondering why there's an inner pocket. It adds a bit of thickness, not to mention it makes the front cover a bit uneven. I understand doing leatherette instead of fake suede when folded back, but then why not make the whole inner front cover leatherette? I worried it would put some pressure on one side of the display, but as the pocket rests against the main Kindle body, I can ignore it. I just won't be putting anything in the pocket.

Mailing bag

-----------

Not really a part of the listing, and may not be the case for everybody, but if it is, this is probably the next most useful thing to the cover in buying this listing. My cover was shipped in a tough, flexible, document mailing pouch, 8.5" x 11" sized and flat. It's disposable/recyclable #04 LDPE plastic, but I plan on reusing it instead!

It just so happens this bag fits the covered Kindle so that with one fold, the bag folds down to about 8.5" x 5.5" x 0.75" with little slack! With a little trimming and maybe modifying with glue or some small hardware, I plan on making a proper flap with an elastic loop or velcro to keep it shut. I might even have enough room to add some extra stiff plastic or cardboard inside the bag to add more protection for the display.

This way, I have a water-resistant and unassuming sleeve for the covered Kindle, and it'll even have my name and address to boot!

Screen protector

----------------

I've used protectors before, and I know there are anti-glare (which is like the Kindle's finish, good at diffusing strong light sources so you're not blinded with spots) and clear (like your phone's screen, great for colors and clarity but very reflective). This comes with a clear protector, and since putting that on the Kindle will undo the anti-glare of the Kindle screen I decided to leave it off.

I'll keep the protector for other electronics, so it's still useful, but if I ever want to protect the screen from scratches and smudges, I have another place to buy anti-glare protectors.

Besides, I've had my Kindle 1 since release, and the worst its screen has gotten is dusty and occasionally smudged from brushing my fingers against it. A good cover, clasped shut, is still a very suitable way to protect the display when not in use!

Wrist band

----------

Pretty much the same ilk as the ol' Livestrong bands. Besides CrazyOnDigital branding, it says "Hope", "Faith", "Courage", "Strength", and is as lime-green as the photo. I have no idea what cause it'd be for, except to remind you that you may just be crazy on digital yourself. If it was stretchier, I'd be tempted to use this to wrap the mailing-bag-diy-sleeve.

Currently I am of the opinion that this is just a waste, a small blemish on an otherwise great package that might have otherwise been a few cents cheaper.

Final notes

-----------

I believe this type of cover is among the best values for protecting the Kindle 3 short of buying water-resistant pouches or zippered cases. Personally I'd be most interested in a hard plastic slide-cover like those found on calculators, but I haven't seen any yet--feel free to steal the idea, for this or future Kindles/ereaders.

Particularly, this entire listing, with the screen protector and possibly useful mailing bag, is among the best prices I've seen. Amazon's other listings are for $30+ items, probably leather (if it's worth it to you). The popular e-auction site has this same-designed cover for a couple bucks less but comes only w/ the cover, although you can find it in other colors besides CrazyOnDigital's lovely black. I've also looked at auction photos of the slight variations on this type of cover, and the design that CrazyOnDigital sells seems the most sensibly secure, strong, and minimal/thin/compact.

Mine shipped from the San Francisco area to Southern California, and order to arrival was about 4 to 5 business days via USPS. - Kindle Accessory - Case - Kindle 3 Cover - Protector'

Photography - multifunction printer, all in one printer

This printer was purchased as a birthday present for my mother, who has been hampered by a Windows Vista computer and a malfunctioning HP Printer (it worked great with XP...). We purchased the Canon PIXMA MP560 printer for $85 (free shipping) on Amazon, and comparing the price to other retailers online (and the retail price), it was no contest.

This printer has some features that you may already know of via the product description page, but I'd like to elaborate on some of these features.

Thoughts out of the box:

-The MP560 has a folding LCD screen that covers the function buttons. The screen is not too large, but it does seem to have large enough text (and a simple GUI) to work well for novice printer users. There are not too many buttons, and they're large, well-marked, and simple enough for anyone to recognize.

-The printer has a lower paper tray (for regular inkjet/copier paper) and an upper vertical tray (for thicker photo paper and other things). The vertical tray has an automatic two-sided width adjustment/alignment, so any size paper is aligned to the proper position every time (and the thickness is adjustable from maximum printing width of the printer, down to only an inch or so).

-The basic instruction manual is printed on paper, and easily guided me through the process of installation of the print head/ink, paper, software, and wireless network capability. This guide has simple words and illustrations, though it does not include every detail of the printer's operations (the more complex instruction/user manual is electronic, and is installed with the printer software). There is a Network Troubleshooting guide, as well, that seems to be rather detailed (though unnecessary in my case). The printer comes with a sample pack of 4"x6" photo paper, which we immediately tested (and it passed the test with flying colors). There's other throw-away junk included, but nothing that surprising.

-The printer is clearly labeled so as to make it simple to place cartridges in the right location, once the print head is installed.

-The fact that the MP560 has multiple single-color ink cartridges may seem expensive at first, but with tri-color cartridge printers, we would always seem to run out of a single color much faster than other colors... so we were wasting a good amount of ink each and every time we replaced a cartridge. This printer seems to have ink cartridges that would be easier to refill than some other cartridges, as well.

After powering it on:

-It was EFFORTLESS to set up the MP560 on our wireless network. It quickly detected the network (our router is on another floor in the house, on the other side of the house), and it still had a good quality signal, and it only took a few minutes (and only a couple pushes of a button... plus entering our internet security key) before the printer was connected. There is a rotating pad (similar to an IPod) on the printer that lets you select any security codes you may have (and navigate through the GUI)... so it may take awhile if one has an alphanumeric password, but it was rather quick for a numeric 8-key code. Heck, my mom is not too familiar with computers, and I have no doubts that she could have set up this printer with the network.

-The printer comes with easy to use software (again, in Vista), though it does take a few minutes for the software to install itself on a PC. The basic instruction manual makes it rather easy to install everything, whether using Windows or Mac. Once installed, the printer is rather effortlessly found (remember to have attached the printer to the wireless network), and before you know it, you're ready to print.

-The printer has a laser ink level meter for every cartridge, and it can be displayed on the computer and on the 2" LCD screen on the printer (actually, pressing one button on the "Home" screen will allow you to see each ink level). So far, it does not appear as if this printer over-uses ink... in fact, printing on glossy photo paper seems to suggest there's less "gunk" on the paper than some other printers, perhaps due to the finer ink jets this printer allegedly uses.

Using the printer for the first time:

-The printer and software actually WORK WELL with Windows Vista!

-The printer does take a few seconds to warm up, but after the first print job, it seems to be much faster.

-The MP560 didn't have a single problem feeding thicker photo paper.

-The quality of printed pictures is very good, showing very tight pixels even on plain paper. Photo paper shows an excellent picture quality, and the software included with the printer makes it effortless to print photos with certain photo papers... no need to change printer settings manually.

-The scanner/copier seems to produce quality pictures, although this isn't the fastest, nor the quietest, copier I've seen in a multi-use printer.

-The Duplex printing feature is a great thing to have in a lower-cost home printer, as few documents are of an official, legal nature, hence there's no need for one-sided printing. It gets to be inconvenient to flip the pages by hand each and every time one wants to print on both sides of a piece of paper, so it is great to find a lower-cost printer that has this feature. This printer does not print internally, it prints on one side and extracts the page, then gathers the page back inside the printer and prints on the other side, so I don't know how well Duplex printing would work on thicker media such as fabrics.

All in all, this is a great printer so far. It beats anything I've ever owned, in terms of print quality and functionality, and I'd say it's a pretty good value to boot. Mom is certainly happy about this printer, and she's going to test it with some of her crafts... let's see how it stands up to the test of time when she puts it to use.
