Too Expensive For Kindle - science fiction, star wars

*Warning Spoilers*

I usually enjoy Allston's entries in the Star Wars universe, but since the legacy series I've been having trouble finding ways not to complain about them. Not that I didn't enjoy this book, but I was a bit annoyed by certain continuing themes, the price, and the story isn't anywhere as interesting as NJO and pre-NJO books.

The Jedi insanity plot was annoying from the beginning and now has gotten even worse. At least in the beginning the cause was mysterious, but now we know it is caused by a villain straight out of a made-for-tv horror movie. Seriously wtf is up with the Abeloth. When I first read the description of her I didn't know whether to laugh at the ridiculousness of it or weep for the lack of creativity in finding a new enemy for the jedi. She now has more than one body and is a cannibalistic doppelganger with mega force powers?

This book continues the new tradition of post NJO EU books by ignoring common sense for the sake of trying to push towards the goal of the author. So many of the decisions characters make in the book go against common sense and the characters' personalities. for example: there is one part in Conviction where Corran Horn makes a statement about not going after his kids when they run off because when he was in CorSec they taught him not to get too involved in cases where family was involved or something and that he would let others handle it.... now correct me if I'm wrong but...wasn't there a whole, very awesome, book called I, Jedi where he began his Jedi training and went through a huge ordeal to save Mirax when she was captured... seemed a bit personal and dealt with family then....

They did finally overthrow Daala.... I still can't figure out how they would come to the decision to put her in charge. what with the whole trying to destroy the Alliance every year of her life, trying to use giant super weapons to kill everything that went against the empire, still expressing support for the Palpatine way of rule, and the whole trying to commit genocide against all force users thingy. But yeah she seems a bit impartial and level headed. Put her in charge.

There is just so much uselessness to this book and the other books in this series. Less than half the books advance the plot. This whole series should have been finished after a few books. I wish they'd just go back to writing trilogies and short series. They can't all be a success like the NJO. There was more content in the Thrawn trilogy than all of the Fate of the Jedi books combined.

Positive notes: They do developed Ben's character a bit more, and seem to maintain some consistencies in his personality between authors. Vestara's character is also being developed pretty well throughout the book(the rest of the sith seem to be getting less intimidating though). There was a funny scene when Daala was being led into her cell where Tahiri got to wave at her from across the hall and laugh. Leia gets a good fight scene. oh and Artoo makes a few good puns at C3PO's expense. Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Conviction

Let me say that I like Aaron Alston's previous work in SW, but this book felt like a waste of time. I honestly don't know what's going on with SW books since the end of New Jedi Order. Legacy had some really good reads, but the whole "Jacen turns dark" idea just struck me as out of character and poorly explained. Fate of the Jedi seems to have other characters doing things that don't quite feel natural, and some of the story lines, particularly in this installment, feel forced. And every time you tell me more about Boba Fett, you make him less interesting.

There's some good stuff here. The Leia/Han interaction is top notch, and I like the ambiguity of Vestara's character. But the Abeloth story arc just isn't executed well. We follow the villain from planet to planet, learning far more about the planets than the villain! I could handle that formula for a book or two, but it's tired now. And I didn't think it was possible to make Sith boring, but this book really pulls it off, with the exception of Vestara. The Sith are so static in this novel, you won't need the Force to see them coming.

The last two books in Legacy where strong, and made some of the earlier subpar entries worth it. Hopefully they can pull it off in Fate too.

First off, there are lots of spoilers, so beware.

This book is just a continuation of everything that's wrong with the entire Fate of the Jedi series. They have so many plots going on throughout, that everything is random and disjointed. For the most part common sense has been thrown out of the window, and characters make decisions not based on their sound logic, but instead to propel the proposterous plots. The "crazed Jedi" was a dead give away that this series was going to be crummy. These Jedi who are being mentally affected by an ancient and purely evil being known as Abeloth, conveniently think that everyone else in the world is an impostor. They don't know how they know, but they do. Of course, by the time Conviction comes around, they can somehow differentiate between real people and "impostors", based solely off of which is convenient to keep the story going. But what's that? The Sith are back? Oh boy. Of course, that's not enough for a story line of it's own (sarcasm), so we'll just toss it into the many themes of the FOTJ series. On top of that, since Ben Skywalker is now a teenager who needs a love interest, let's make one of the Sith a teenage girl who happens to get stuck with him and his father on their quest to rid the galaxy of Abeloth. Hmmm, what else can we throw in to this whole pot of "WTF Stew"? Oooh, I know. How about two separate coups against Chief of State Daala (one by the Jedi, and one by pro-Imperial conspirators) and things will surely be fun. Also, the annoying ramblings of Tenel Ka's daughter, an incredibly in depth trial of Tahiri Veila (complete with prison antics), Mandalorian war crimes, the life and times of HoloNews journalists, the love and drama of Jaina and Jag plus Zekk and his new girl, and dozens of other obscure and random themes from the Star Wars galaxy can all be found, crammed into this one series. In all, it is all used to fill up the pages of the books so that by the end of every one, you've really made very little progress and are left scratching your head, wondering how on Earth you got so far off course, and accomplished so very little. - Star Wars Books - Science Fiction - Star Wars - Literature'

Kindle Devices - scotch, shipping tape

This is the sixth Scotch Mailing tape I've used and I love them. I've started using this tape for packages instead of the large handheld roller. This tape rips much easier off the roller, is stronger and has less problems twisting. I've had no problems ripping the tape off the attached cutter - never had to use scissors.

The larger handheld tape roller would twist up on itself and it drove me crazy. These are much easier to use.

Pros:

Very strong

Easy to rip off the cutter

Does not fold up on itself

Less waste

Easier to hold than a large roller

Lightweight

Easier to apply tape

Cons

A little pricer than the larger rolls but I use less and don't waste any because it never twists or folds Scotch Moving and Storage Tape, 2 x 800 Inches (165)

Scotch Brand Moving and Storage Tape delivers quality stickiness that holds tight, cuts easily and stays clear. I even use it for mailing packages to my Army son, which arrive in great shape. I haven't had any problems or complaints.

I use this tape especially when I have to send boxes back to the stores during the holiday season. This tape is perfect for sealing boxes and is accepted by the post office. The tape is also good for anything you need to keep closed, it stays sealed until you remove it. - E-reader - Scotch - Kindle - Shipping Tape'

Pool Filter Cartridges

You have to review this filter as a toy, but of course it is not. I bought this instead of the standard Hayward filter sold at Pitch a Penny. Works great, is made solid, delivered to the door and I saved 30 bucks. How can you beat that?

4/27/11

I am changing my review for this item to 3 stars. The first filter only lasted 1 year. I am going to purchase again and give it one more chance. I want to make sure it was nothing I did to reduce the life. I have attempted to clean this filter per manufacturers instructions. After it is cleaned it will give service for a few days and then plug right up. A sign of a dead cartridge.

The OE equipment cartridge for this filter is $100.00. However, the original cartridge gave 4 years of service. That is only $25.00 a year.

You'll get an update next year! Pleatco PA120 Replacement Cartridge for Hayward Star-Clear Plus C-1200, 1 Cartridge

I was a bit reticent to purchase this filter but one of the great things about Amazon is the return policy so I purchased the filter. This is a replacement filter for the Hayward C1200 which costs $99 at the local pool store; when on sale it can be had for $89 so $56 was a bargain. The filter works just like the C1200. It looks like it will hold up for a year like the C1200. Time will tell. There is a difference in the structure - there are no cross braces in the interior of the filter as there are in the C1200 otherwise this filter works well so far.

I am wondering what I missed here. The reviews that are here are great but the product is not. I purchased this product and the first couple of weeks it ran great after that it will barely pull any water through it. I've tried to clean it with the filter cleaner from our local pool store and it didn't make a difference. I have to clean it daily and it still hasn't made a difference. I've even resorted to putting the old filter back in because it circulates the water better with more pressure. Thank goodness we did not throw it out. I will not be purchasing this filter again. It would be in my best interest to pay the extra $30 for the other one. :-(

I've used this for about a month. Much less expensive than the original filter, but it seems to be doing just as well (if not better) of keeping the pool clean. I will update after the summer when I verify the filter will make it 2 seasons like the original filter did.

I found your pool filters to be just as good as the filters I buy at the the pool places or Home Depo. The same filter in most cases!! Far a much cheaper price. I will buy from you again. Plus any other thing I can find on your web site that is a good deal. Thanks You, Rita

This cartridge is a good quality replacement, like you would get at a pool store but would pay considerably more. You are buying a higher quality cartridge for about the same price as the big box stores.'

Maternity - nursing cover up, nursing

My only complaint is that these tanks are little long. Otherwise the clips are easy to snap/unsnap one-handed. I wear these tanks under my shirt and am able to nurse in public with very little skin showing. I'm a 36D and find these to be pretty supportive and very comfortable. I don't really like to wear them alone without a shirt over them because you can see the layer underneath the top layer where your cleavage is. It just looks weird. I think a smaller chested woman could get a way with it though. I have 8 of these tanks and love them! Tool Bag

I am giving the Klein Zipper Bag 5139B bag 5 stars simply because I could not think of nothing wrong with it. It is made similar to the 5139C Klein Zipper Bag but the nylon weave on the 5139C is not quiet as heavy. I bought both the 5139B and the 5139C because the coloring of one was different from the other. I also prefer the way the 5139B is fabricated, the Zipper is about 1/4 inch closer to the closed edge of the bag; however, both bags are very usable and am happy with both. I would rate both bags to be very sturdy for my purpose. Klein 5139B 12-1/2-Inch Cordura Ballistic Nylon Zipper Bag

This is a nice, rugged bag. I use it to keep all my screwdrivers in one place, rather than hunt around for the one I want in my toolbox. Less expensive and more durable than a canvas bag.

Made in USA, too! What more could you want?'

Pneumatics - brad nailers, brad nailer

First time ever using a nail gun and I was imediately impressed. Not one Jam up and smooth operation. Light and very little recoil.

I did look at the dewalt brad nailer and I also love Dewalt tools, However this tool was favored a little more than the Dewalt. Price difference between the two tools was nothing to compare almost equal.

I can tell this tool will last. One more thing to add is Milwaukee has a warrenty for three more years than Dewalt. That is a total of five years. Dewalt only two. Milwaukee 7150-21 5/8-Inch to 2-1/8-Inch 18 Gauge Brad Nailer

Like other magnesium headed brad nailer's this gun produces almost no recoil. Another great feature, not publicized, is that it will not fire without nails (dry fire). The only minor problem for users of other guns is that the safety is behind the actual place the nail is fired from...but after a very short time you will be used to that. The no mar head on the safety is very good too. All in all a great gun...I ordered a second one already. [I am a finish carpenter by trade of 30+ years]

what can I say! This is the best air nailer I have ever owned! I have Senco's BEST finish nailer and it is a distant second fit, finish and feel to my Milwaukee brad nailer.

I only regret not being aware of the Milwauke line up before I purchased my Milwaukee!

This tool is a typical Milwaukee tool. Everyday you pick it up, it works. It has great power and effortlessly drives 2 inch brads in solid oak. I've been running on 80 - 85 psi which is more than reasonable. The depth adjustment is not precise, but most aren't. On balance, a good nailer at a cheap price when you consider how long it is likely to last. Many are cheaper, very few are better.

This is a great brad nailer. It is light and well balanced. I like the fact that the air discharge is out of the handle below the air intake. I have used it to build several cabinets and it is fun to use. I have not had a single mis-fire or had to hammer in a nail. It has a sequential fire mode which seems to work well, although I usually use the single fire mode. Awesome tool.

This nailer is all it said it would be. I am a contractor and have been useing a grip rite nailer. It would get into tighter places then the Milwakee but after every 50 nails you would have a jam. How nice it is not to have to un jam a gun. I have shot probably about 1500 nails already and never one jam how awseome. Now for the miner problem, when I got the nailer it didn't seem to always want o set the nail unless I had the gun kinda tiped forward it was like the safty would not go down far enough even after adjustment I had the problem. It might have been that my old nailer sat different but none the less I was disapointed. After messing with it awhile I was able to modifie the safty alittle higher and have not had a problem sence. I highly recomend this nailer.

I purchased this item with the Milwaukee angled finish nailer. As I mentioned in the finish nailer review the Milwaukee nailers are similiar in design to the Ridgid in my opinion. You will need to purchase and install an air fitting for this nailer. I installed a swivel connector similiar to the one on the Ridgid nailer which is available at most home and tool centers. The brad nailer is well balanced and has a magnesium housing. The unit comes with a nice cary case that holds your brads also. The operation is fine and what I would expect from a quality tool.

This was purchased to replace a Bostich which failed prematurely.

The unit is light weight and drives 2 1/2" nails in maple without effort.

All features are well engineered. Loading, setting depth, and jammed nail removal are all simple.

It also comes with a decent case.

Get a urethane hose to go with this and you might forget you're attached to a compressor.

This is the first nail gun I've ever used, but I think it's great. It's very light, easy to use, and doesn't jam. I used it to install baseboard, crown molding, and door/window casing. It made everything go so quick and easy. I used both the included 1.25" brads and also Stanley 1.75" brads also worked perfectly. The no-mar tip is outstanding. I used it with the MAC700 compressor from Makita (also great) that I bought on Amazon as well.

I think it's an excellent combination. It doesn't come with the 1/4" NPT connector like the Rigid gun, but you can pick one up at the home improvement stores for just over 2 bucks. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone. - Brad Nailer - Brad Nailers - Pneumatics - Nail Gun'

Car Charger - car charger

Charger is great but stays coiled really tightly so it sometimes pulls out of the socket when I'm answering in the car. It's not that big of a deal though. The cover doesn't have a snug fit, but doesn't fall off every second either. If i drop the phone it is protected and hasn't fallen out of the case. This review is after about 4 months of constant use. Black Silicone Skin Case for Palm Pixi + Car Charger

The case arrived as promised and was a good fit around the phone. It was bought with the intention to give some added screen protection in case the unit was dropped etc. The case itself is made of a none slip rubberized materal which helps prevent the phone from slipping out of you pocket etc if you have to bend over @#$% or whatever. The down side of the case is that its slightly hard to put into a pocket because of the no-slip material and that the on /off button under the case is less sensitive to the touch. I have had the product for a month now and have become accustom to these issues and have worked around them.If this one fails due to normal usage I would buy another one with out hesatation.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I been looking for a phone cover for my Pixi for a year now. I'm glad I searched it on Amazon. It was such a good deal that I couldn't pass on it. The cover fits perfectly and the car charger was a bonus. It also works fine. My purchase arrived about a week earlier than the arrival date. Good price, good product. You should buy it if this is what you need!

For 2.95 this item is a steal. Don't go to your local mall and pya 15-20 dollars for some tacky case and charger that have Ed Hardy written in black sharpie. Buy this product! The car charger works great and the black silicon case fits snug and perfect! I couldn't be happier!!

The case worked fine with just a little play but it protects the backside of the phone just fine. The car charger ponly lasted one day one use. I took a 10 hour drive to FLA and it worked fine. the second day of my trip the charger stopped working. - Car Charger'

600 Denier - 600 denier, boat covers

I've been using these covers for years on my 20' Pathfinder center console. Because of the high center console grab rail, the cover drapes at a steep angle so water doesn't "puddle", except in the splash well. For use in the Mid-West, this is a good summer cover. Super lightweight and compact. Makes it a breeze to put on & off for one person. Won't take up the whole truck bed when it's not needed. It's definitely lightweight material, so I suppose it might not be the best choice as a rain cover for a low profile boat like a bass boat. You would really have to cinch it down really tight, and the strap fasteners would probably rip out prematurely. My Pathfinder has a beam of 8'6" and after draping over the high center console it just makes it to the rub rail. Everyplace else has plenty of coverage. They last me about 2 seasons. so for the money and convenience they are a great value.

Grant in Ohio Sportsman 300 Trailerable Boat Cover, C-SIZE

Bought this boat cover to replace one that was worn out from sun exposure. This one looked ideal and unexpectedly came with not only elastic sides but also nylon staps in three spots. Once installed on my 12ft boat it fit well but when I installed the straps and trying to find the right tension to pull it into position one of the plastic clasps broke. At first I thought I had pulled to hard but after looking at the clasps it was clear they were not of high quality to sustain much more than a snap together and light tension on the straps. Disappointing but the elastic helps and the cover material seems to be good. - 600 Denier - Boat Covers'
