Magnetic Dry Erase Board - magnetic dry erase board, whiteboard

The product is as advertised. It's a basic 11x14 dry erase board. It includes magnetic and double-sided tape mounting options, which is nice since it's a pain to get something that isn't mountable out-of-the-box. The included dry erase marker is a fine-tip, and will probably need to be replaced quickly with regular use. There is no board eraser included. My only complaint is that the marker leaves dark traces after erasing, so you'll need to clean the board often. This size is good for quick notes and lists for placement in smaller areas like narrow walls and refrigerators. Board Dudes 11 x 14-Inch Metalix Magnetic Dry Erase Board, Colors May Vary (45000UA-4)

You can see the quality as soon as you pull the dry erase board out of the box. We ordered ours more than two months ago and it continues to work perfectly. Our board is mounted on the refrigerator door and we use it for shopping lists, errands and to-do lists.

We can go a couple weeks between cleanings. Like all dry erase boards, eventually you will need to clean the surface to remove ghost lines.

The product is a great value for the price. We are thinking about buying a couple more before Christmas for our sons' room.

In summary, excellent quality and price; what more can you ask for in a dry erase board? Rating: Five stars.

Great size for kids working on math problems.

Save LOTS of paper.

Can be easily taken to anywhere (even school).

After I bought them for my kids, and they take it to school, the teachers have asked every student to get one too. Everyone saves paper.

Great for students.

I have this board on the outside of my door at school, and I love it! It's a good size, seems sturdy, and it gets the job done just fine. I was not a huge fan of the mounting materials provided, though. I ended up buying some 3M command strips and using those instead, which worked perfectly but it wasn't ideal. I had hoped the mounting materials provided would be adequate but for sticking to the outside of a dorm door, not so much.

Doubts I had & the answers for it:

Quality of magnet - Pretty good

Quality of board - Good

Quality of marker - Not bad

Quality of silver metal - Fancy (not useful for me)

How the board is been used personally:

--------------------------------------

- Keep track of the vegetables, fruits bought and the order to use them

- Keep track of left over dishes

- Keep track of coupons and their expiration date

- Keep track of groceries/essential items to be bought

- Keep track of bills to be paid

Fits perfectly on fridge. Marker works great, magnets small but useable.

Previous reviewers stated it didn't fit right and that you should put foam pieces between board and magnets.......it came with the foam pieces!!!!!

All in all, just what I was looking for!

Our 2 boards are warped and don't lay flat, so when they are on the fridge if we put pressure on a corner that isn't laying flat against the fridge the whole board flies off the fridge and falls the the floor. Very annoying. - Magnetic Dry Erase Board - Dry Erase Boards - Whiteboard - Dry Erase Board'

Digital Recorder - field recorder, mp3 recorder

Straight to the point: If you're considering getting a digital recorder and your needs are simple, seriously consider this one.

The sound is quite phenomenal for a recorder this size and asking price. (Zoom claims the H1 has the same frequency and SPL handing as their popular H2.)

Button/switch placement is intuitive and couldn't be simpler. Need the lo-cut filter? Slide the switch in the back (and the LCD will tell you it's on). When you're ready to record, simply press the big red button on the front. When done recording, press it again. If you want to hear what you've just recorded (via the built-in speaker or the line out jack), simply push the play button on the side of the unit.

There are several functions that will prove useful including adjusting the input level manually (from 1 to 100; *really* useful for loud situations like a rock concert) and being able to actually monitor audio during recording via the line out jack.

The unit records in MP3 and Broadcast WAV formats, in many bit-depths and sample rates. (Max for WAV is 24-bit/96 kHz and 320 kbps for MP3.) Broadcast WAV functions just like any other WAV with the addition of having metadata (like time and date) stamped into the file, which is great for identifying WAVs in audio editors that support the format. The H1 allows you to place markers into WAVs during recording for easy transport/identification during playback in audio editors as well. (The H1 will also jump to these markers while in playback mode should you push the "<<" or ">>" buttons during playback.)

File transfer to your computer is quite fast. (For comparison's sake, the H1 uses Hi-speed USB 2.0 versus the H2's Full-speed USB 2.0. In layman's terms, the H1 is quicker than the H2 file-transfer wise.) The unit is firmware-upgradable. (Mine came with version 1.02; there isn't a newer version as of this review at Zoom's Web site.)

I knew that the H1 was small but I wasn't exactly prepared for how small. If you were to lay your palm flat, the H1 would fit inside it with room to spare. (I have average-sized hands.)

The H1 is so light even with one AA battery that it feels delicate. I wouldn't suggest banging it around. There's a connector for a wrist strap at the bottom of the unit (near the speaker) so if you're concerned about dropping the H1, it might be worth your while to connect a strap.

The cover to the microSD card slot can come open with just a nudge which might annoy you while handing the H1. (I should also note the cover is made of a hard plastic but looks like it might come off and break with enough force; just be careful as you open it.) The tripod mounting joint is also made of plastic so you might not want to overtighten when mounting the H1. Like most recorders, the H1's sensitive mics are prone to handling noise.

There doesn't seem to be any way of recording in mono; it would have to be done post-production.

Get the H1 Accessory Pack as well but also get a RedHead windscreen (or similar) to boot; the included windscreen in the Accessory Pack is great for voice/plosives and all but horrible for wind noise (which is not surprising since it's a foam windscreen). One needs more to baffle the wind only a "dead cat" type windscreen can provide.

I know I forgot things but I wanted to make this as concise as possible, pros and cons. It's simply a great recorder and I was not disappointed.

UPDATED EDIT: Since my initial review, two months have passed by, so I thought I'd give my updated thoughts. There are some reports that the H1 is draining batteries faster than normal even while the H1 is off. This is obviously not in every unit as I do not have this issue. (I had mine since official release, which was August 20, 2010.) A quick way to find if you have a defective H1 is to simply check the battery within a day. If it's quite low or no battery power, contact Samson (in the U.S.) and let them know.

There are users who claim that the H1 is shoddily built. My challenge to that is, What were you expecting for $99 USD? Gold? As I said in my review, the H1 is so darned light with a battery in it it's hard to not think of it as delicate. Is it so shoddy that users who are careful with their electronics shouldn't pick it up? Oh, heck no. It's not like the H1's casing is made of plastic that's so pliable it's pathetic. It feels solid enough at least in my hand.

Obviously, if your needs put you in a situation where durability is a concern, the H1 might not be for you. I would think this was common sense all things considered.

Of course, a note on the sound: It is quite superb. I've done (far) more than a bunch of recordings already and there are times where I have to check to see if what I'm hearing is coming from my monitors or in the real world. (I thought someone was presently mowing their lawn off in the distance when, in fact, they were not.) It's that good.

One last thing: At the top of the H1 page here on Amazon, you'll see a "Frequently Bought Together" section, which includes a 16 GB SD card. ***DO NOT BUY THIS*** as the H1 takes microSD cards, not SD cards. (microSD cards are much smaller (about the size of your pinky nail) and usually come with a SD card adapter.) What you want is something like this: Transcend 4 GB microSDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS4GUSDHC6E. You can, of course, use the 2 GB microSD card that comes with the H1 if your needs don't require a huge amount of memory to record on. Card Reader - memory card, 16 gb

Its a pretty simple deal. The card is exactly as advertised. Its fast and, so far at least, reliable.

My only little complaint is that the SD card reader included is cheap. Let me set that straight- I expected it to be cheaply built. It was cheaper than I expected. The main thing I expected is that the USB connector would be made of metal- its made of plastic. Its in the picture, but I didn't notice that detail. I found that some others didn't notice it either.

Now for my purposes this turns out to be just fine. I only use the reader as a backup reader, not as my main SD card reader. Still I feel it should be noted. Transcend 16 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card with USB Card Reader TS16GSDHC6-P2

I use this with my Powershot camera. I'm not a professional photographer, and don't want to become one. I just wanted something to hold lots of pictures and be easy to download onto my computer. This is it.

The adapter that allows the MC to be placed in a port on the front of my computer can't be any easier. It brings up the photos fast. I'm no expert on speeds and the like, I just know for a family photographer, and a nature picture taker, this is the perfect tool to save the shots for as long as needed. I've never run out of space and tend to save shots for a long time.

There has never been any hint of a glitch using this MC and the USB Card Reader.

I'd highly recommend it to anyone, family shooter or professional. For the price, you can't go wrong.

This worked fine out of the box. It glows when you plug it in to tell you that it's connected correctly, which I found nice. It's so simple to use there's really nothing more to say. The only small thing is I rather wish it was a little more substantial in it's construction. Something little like this might accidently have something put on it, and I don't feel comfortable that it would survive much mishandling.

So you're looking at buying this, which means you're looking for the memory card and the reader.

Given the current Amazon prices are ~$5 different between the model with the card reader and just the card, this means the card reader costs you approximately $5, right?

Well, you get what you pay for.

The card itself is fast, both in writing from a Canon XSi DSLR camera and in reading from the included card reader. The capacity is 8 GB (less in actual use thanks to formatting the device). I can take the quoted fastest frames per second (3.5 fps) with this card, unlike the generic 2 GB SD card I have. The Class 6 speed really seems to help.

Now the card reader itself... it's VERY cheaply built. It doesn't feel like it will break if you drop it, but it doesn't seem like it would take much to damage it either. The memory card sticks out of the reader which is a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it. It's easy to remove the card from the reader. It just takes some lining up on your part to ensure the card is inserted correctly.

For a $5 premium? I don't care if the reader is cheaply built. It WORKS and it is cheap. And that's enough for me.

I had just purchased a brand new computer and was very excited about the fact that it had built in card readers. Then I purchased a new camera, the Panasonic Lumix dmc-zs3, and learned from reading all of the reviews that you should use a SD HC card, and most computers don't read the SD HC cards, just SD. Anyways, I purchased this card because it came with the reader and it is great. Very convenient, no more trips to the store to have them put on CD. I have only had it since the end of November and am very happy so far!

This card functions perfectly, but how much can you say about a memory card? Here is the "unexpected bonus" that I referenced in the subject line:

My PC at home has an external media reader, but the SD port on it does not support SDHC (high-capacity) cards; only standard (non-HC) cards. Because this Transcend card comes with a USB adapter (which allows you to insert the SD card into USB ports), I can now read SDHC cards on my PC using the USB ports! I am very pleased about this.

Shipping was fast, and the product works perfectly!

I purchased this to use as a dedicated ReadyBoost volume with my netbook, an ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-PU17-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 10.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter) running Windows 7. Unfortunately, Windows said the volume was too slow!

I also bought two of the 4GB versions of the same SD card, the Transcend 4 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS4GSDHC6E [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging], and the two supposedly identical units showed very different speed results with the native Windows 7 ReadyBoost speed test. I now use the faster of the two 4GB cards for ReadyBoost (which seems to help Windows 7 performance very nicely, btw).

Bottom line, these cards seem to vary in performance from unit to unit based upon my limited experience.

Perhaps a different unit of the same 8GB card would be faster, your mileage may vary, etc... - 16 Gb - Card Reader - Sdhc - Memory Card'

Cable Connectors - ipod cable, audio cable

I had ordered a 6' cable from another dealer at the same price as the pictured 2' cable. My only purpose was to connect an iPod to a portable speaker. My results were immediately wildly erratic. I was able to get a semi-clear audio signal only after extremely careful manipulation of the pin in the iPod jack, followed by periods of holding my breath so as not to disrupt the connection. My first inclination was to condemn the player, but then I remembered a recent experience with the HDMI cords connected to a Sony TV. The picture went on and off whenever someone walked into the room, causing my wife and me to condemn the TV set or the Time-Warner cable box. But then I exchanged the heavy-duty, thick HDMI cable for a thinner, lightweight HDMI cable--immediately, all problems with my television set were eliminated.

Exactly the same happened when I tossed the new 6' 3.5mm audio cable for the pictured 2' one. No fine-tuning required. Simply snap one end into the iPod, the other into the stereo speaker unit, and the communication between them was instant, complete, and secure.

I notice that different dealers sell this cable, which may or may not make a difference (for the record, my cable came from Cable Showcase/PC Part Store). The point is that, contrary to the assertions of some reviewers, all cables are not equal: it's not simply a matter of buying the cheapest version of the type of cable you require. Besides the cable itself, there's the more complicated matter of the pin with its stereo bands and the requirement of a precise and tight connection with the weight equally distributed on the entire surface of that tiny pin. The least bit of miscalculation on the part of the cable maker, and your pricey gadget could be rendered worthless, at least practically speaking. "3.5mm Stereo Male / 3.5mm Stereo Male, 2 ft"

I bought this to lengthen my MP3 player connection in my vehicle. It works flawlessly. Now i can take the MP3 to my lap or armrest and then pick it up and look at it closely when i am able to make changes and not have to look down. It is made well and has worked for six months no issues.

Now I could have gone with a more expensive, name-brand cable and rested easy in the knowledge that I had spent good money and purchased a quality cable that would connect my MP3 player to the Aux input of my car. But I chose this little $3 dollar cable. Why? Well who cares about a little interference, over the noise of an engine and the fan and the wind in a moving car? You probably couldn't tell the difference between the crackling of cable noise and the crackling of a standard car stereo system anyway. And this cable ships free in two days with Amazon Prime! I wasn't asking for all that much -- just a simple connection between point A and point B. So I bought this one.

I'll admit I was pretty excited when this package came in the mail. I love packages! Not only that, but I finally get to play my favorite driving music directly through my MP3 player (no more burning CDs). I tore open the envelope and the little plastic baggy and immediately went to test out my new cable.

The cable itself looks fine. It has a nice thick sheath made of good plastic (plenty of insulation) -- not like those earbuds you get for free with cheap MP3 players that start cutting in and out after a couple weeks. It looks much sturdier than your average stereo cable. Unfortunately this was not the case. Imagine my dismay when, after I turned on the music, I immediately found that the sound was cutting between the left and right channels, and crackled every time I moved the cable. I didn't expect wonders out of a $3 cable, but, like, aren't they at least supposed to work ONCE? Don't they test these things out of the factory or something?

Cutting open the cable, I found that while the inner wires and the jack were all perfectly good, they were held together with tiny little dabs of solder that came apart at the merest pull. You wouldn't expect that solder was the most expensive component of the cable, but given how little of it the manufacturer used, perhaps it was.

I feel like the manufacturer must have missed the point. At the only point in the assembly where the connection could go wrong (the soldering joint), he neglected to ensure that the connection was properly made. In a cable, whose only purpose is making this connection, this seems to me to be an egregious mistake.

I ended up cannibalizing the cable for the two jacks and soldering a cable myself. I went through several sets of cheap earbuds when I let the cable get to hot and melted the plastic (ruining the plug and forcing me to go find another more). But, when I was, done my home-made cable worked perfectly well -- as well as I would have expected this $3 cable to have worked. I'm happy I learned to solder out of this experience, but any other buyers of this product should beware. - Audio Cable - Male To Male - Audio Cables - Ipod Cable'

Hoover Carpet Cleaner - carpet shampooer, steam cleaner

I had the older version of this machine. I bought it about 6 years ago and after attempting to clean the rugs last month I realized it was no longer picking up the water. Opened it up and saw that the internal suction hose had split in half. That was it .. time to find another cleaner. I have had good luck with Hoovers but did a TON of research before settling on this machine. I have a dog and a toddler and both do a number on my rugs. Juice, food, crayons, spit up, urine and everything else under the sun has ended up on my carpet in the past 2 years. I did not take care of my previous Hoover so it wasn't the best in its later life. I just brought the new one home and oh my god, the water was black. I did not think anything could bring my carpets back but this did. They are so soft and clean. I love this machine because it has a rinse button if you want to make sure you have gotten all the soap out. I use really warm water and the machine directs hot air onto the carpet as you make your passes. The carpet dried super fast and just looks fantastic. I had to fill and empty the containers 4 times for my combination living / dining room but hey, I'm not complaining now that I see the results. I also like this machine because you do not mix the detergent in with the water. This is great because if you have detergent left over you just pour it back into the bottle. Based on my previous experience, here is what I learned and can pass on to future Hoover SteamVac owners:

1. Clean your machine after each use. That means taking apart the brushes and washing out the front nozzle. This is an investment and if you want it to continue working like it did the first day, you need to take care of it.

2. Do not leave left over or dirty water in the tank when you put it away. This will wear away at the joints and increases the chances the leaks.

3. Do not leave left over detergent in the tank .. see #2.

4. Read the directions when you put it together and make sure you read how to use this rather than just take it out and turn it on. I never read the first manual and didn't realize I should have been cleaning and using the spray button a totally different way.

This is a great machine and I hope it will last just as if not longer now that I know how to take care of and use it properly. Hoover MaxExtract Dual V Carpet Cleaner, Garnet-F7411900

I just got this carpet cleaner from Amazon.com and I am so happy with it. It outcleans everything I've ever used before, including professional cleaning companies. I owned a Kirby years ago and it can't hold a candle to this Hoover cleaner. I found it was much easier to use than the rug doctor, which I've rented many times, and since I own it, I don't have to haul it back to the store and I have all the time I want to clean my carpets.

It was very easy to use, and I particularly like the clean water rinse feature. It gets all the detergent residue out, and my carpet was soft and lofty after cleaning. Just think, you wouldn't wear your clothes washed and not rinsed.

The power is awesome, my carpet was practically dry when I finished. I got back very close to the amount of water that was dispensed. My carpet was dry enough to walk on in an hour and vacuum in 2 hours. This machine is so well made that I look forward to having soft clean carpet for years to come. It has the quality that I expected from a Hoover. I researched all brands of cleaners dilligently on the net and even looked at some brands, including Bissell, in a store before I decided on this particular Hoover machine. I've never been so happy while cleaning my carpets before. I had it out of the box and ready to go in minutes. It's as easy to use as a vacuum cleaner, plus, Amazon's sale price was cheaper than any price for the same machine that I found. I am a happy camper with this purchase!

I'd like to share my experience of using the "steamvac" model # "F7411-900"

This is my second, improved model which replaced the model # "F5918-900" I had for about five years. Eventually the plastic hose of the previous model's attachment wore out at the bend. I was about ready to go with the costly replacement for the whole hose subassembly, because there was no way to replace just a broken part itself, when the electric motor burned out. Although I thought that five years for a non-professional water vacuum is too short a lifespan, I needed a water vacuum, so I went shopping.

In a local store I saw the new model # "F7411-900" offering better and improved features, so I purchased it. As of today I have had this model for six months, but I am already highly dissatisfied with the design, manufacturing, and quality of the vacuum.

First of all, just a few days ago, two plastic bosses were broken from the `dirty' tank. These plastic pins hold the handle and secure the recovery tank lid. Now, that whole container is useless and requires replacement. I am an engineer myself, and I'm absolutely sure that the problem is due to bad design and manufacturing defects in the molded part. After hundreds of times closing and opening the handle, the stress accumulates in those small plastic pins, eventually breaking them. Other things which I have become frustrated with in this model are:

1. When hose is attached and used, the dirty water drips back to the carpet through the main inlet nozzle. The position for the hose attachment seems poorly placed. Every time I use attachment, I have to clean the residual dirty stains on the carpet caused by leakage.

2. The hose attachment has very tiny little plastic hooks for attachment to the hole. These eventually can and will break from simple use. I have yet to find separate replacement parts for these, so I assume that the whole attachment must again be replaced.

3. We have some pets, but even if we dry vacuum carpet before using the water vacuum, the main inlet accumulates hair and other litter from the carpet. The fur particularly accumulated into inlet nozzle slot, and there is no way to remove them without using a specially made wire hook to slide into the very thin slot space in order to remove it. Why is there no hatch for this purpose? The issue had to have come up during testing, or did manufacturer assume that the vacuum would only be used on absolutely clean carpet?

4. The black rubber seal gasket in the rectangular hole on which the dirty container sits has come apart and lost its continuous shape, so there is now a gap in the sealing material, causing decreased suction. Again, this can only be caused by the manufacturing or design flaws, because the part does not see enough wear to warrant such quick deterioration. Even if I find a replacement seal for purchase, how long can I expect it to last given the history?

5. The upper tank has two compartments: one for water and one for the cleaning solution. Once I put the solution in the compartment, it looses a few drops of solution every time I install the clean container in place on the valve. Overall, it looses a lot of cleaning solution and makes a mess.

6. The plastic tool caddy that is supposed to hold the hose and hose attachments on the back of the vacuum is absolutely useless. Not only does it not hold any parts reliably, but it also comes off by itself from the simple motions of vacuuming.

I truly believe that this model should be taken off of the shelves and redesigned because of its many manufacturing and design flaws. - Carpet Shampooer - Hoover - Hoover Carpet Cleaner - Steam Cleaner'

Digital Outlet Timer - lamp timer, programmable timer

I've had such a hard time finding a timer that will fit my outlet because I have a gigantic transformer plug plugged into the bottom socket and it cannot be moved. I searched and searched for something that could be used on the top socket in the small amount of space available above the huge transformer plug. This fit the bill perfectly! It takes up so little space for a timer. This has got to be the smallest timer I've seen.

I love that it has it's own batteries to keep time. We lose power a lot where I live and it is a pain to have to update all my mechanical timers after going without power. I'm sure I'll have no problems with this, but if I do, I will come back to update. I'm also interested to see how long the batteries last for keeping time. They appear to be calculator-type batteries, so I'm sure they are inexpensive.

I love that it has an override "on" switch. There is no override "off" but I would never use it anyway. This only offers ONE on/off set of times, so if you need something to turn on/off more than once a day, this won't work for you. Also, this will only accommodate a 2 prong plug.

Overall, I thought this 2-pack was incredibly affordable and I'm completely happy with this product. I am buying more and switching out all my mechanical timers for these. I can't give a better recommendation than that!

***************************

UPDATE: September 22, 2009

***************************

We lose power at my home all of the time and lost power for several hours yesterday. Our power came back on only a couple of minutes before the timers were scheduled to come on. I am happy to report that the timers kept perfect time throughout the power outage and turned the devices on at the programmed times. I am completely satisfied with these timers, but will still be interested to see how long the batteries last. I will be back to report when the batteries have died or if I have any other issues.

**************************

UPDATE: October 21, 2009

**************************

I've lost power 3 more times since the last update. Once for 30 minutes, the other 2 times were less than 1 minute. Timers are still set PERFECT! Haven't missed a single second and turn on at the exact same times each day :) Yeah! I've ordered more, but got a 1-3 week delay. Everyone is buying them all up. lol Stanley 38425 TimerMax Digislim Daily Digital Indoor Lamp Timer, White, 2-Pack

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

I've owned a Woods digital timer and it worked fine until the internal battery died in it. The bad part about the Woods timer is that the battery wasn't user replaceable! As soon as I opened the package and saw the battery compartment I was excited to see this feature! I first bought this because it was the cheapest digital based timer switch I could find and it didn't mention anything about a backup battery in the unit or that it was user replaceable.

My main concern about this item was if I could set it to turn off in one minute and turn back on. I have a skype phone which works fine, but every now and then it needs the unit to be reset (power turned off and on). So this device fit the bill perfectly with added features I didn't expect. Since it is digital it doesn't make any sound as a manual based timer (the ones with a circle based clock with plugs or pins you'd place to set it). Again the user replaceable battery feature is nice because obviously you can replace them yourself and it remembers your settings if the power happens to go out.

It is rather simple to program as in to set your times by just holding down either the TIME or ON or OFF button and then press the hour or minute button to set it. Since the display isn't backlit then you might want to program this in a well lit area or take your flashlight when trying to program it. This really isn't a bad thing since I'd prefer the display to be off during the night, but it would be a welcome feature to have when programming the device. the device does also offer a override on switch, but no off switch. Not a big deal for me, but if you want to forcefully turn it off then you will have to unplug it. It isn't very tall so it doesn't take up that much space in a two slot socket, but in a six based socket it might about two sockets worth of space horizontally.

It uses two button cell batteries (LR1130) 1.5 volt or more commonly known as L44 which aren't that expensive to get and used in most devices such as laser pointers, led keychains, etc... You can also extract these type of batteries from an A23 Energizer 12 volt battery which contains 8 of these button cell (1.5 volt) batteries, but just hidden inside the energizer wrapper. So it is fairly easy to obtain these batteries, but I can't comment on how long they will last in the device. The device seems to be able to run without the batteries plugged in as well and that is a plus if you don't care if it remembers your settings (especially if power outages isn't that common in your area).

Other technical details left out were that it can power supposedly a 600 watt device at 5 amps. This unit has only two prongs and only accepts two prong devices which can be a plus or minus depending what you plan to do with this device. Also lastly I can't really comment on the reliability, but so far so good and it appears to be a good solid construction. - Programmable Timer - Digital Outlet Timer - Lamp Timer - Indoor Timer'

Networking - networking, gigabit ethernet switch

Here's my story. I used to have (note past tense) pretty much all Linksys gear in my home. Router, switches, print servers, etc. Over a half-dozen devices because our condo is wired like an office with network drops everywhere.

All of a sudden in the span of about 6 months, one-by-one most of the devices just died. They had power, but simply would not pass network traffic. I wrote to Linksys and basically said, "Here's my situation, meet me half-way, do something, anything to keep my business." They never replied. So I began a quest to look into a new switch for my home office. I decided I wanted a 16 port model because I might max out an 8 port unit.

I noticed that the "ProSafe" line from Netgear comes with a lifetime warranty and 24/7 technical support (although how much support can one need for an auto-sensing switch, assuming it's actually working.) So I gravitated toward that line of products. Then looking at the comparison charts I was trying to determine the difference between the mid-level "GS" series and their top-of-the-line "JGS" series switches.

There is only one: The JGS models have a built-in power supply. Meaning, no "brick," just a standard 3-prong power cord.

Sold!

My only complaint (and it is significant): The little fan inside this monster is quite noisy. Almost as loud a standard desktop PC, which uses a much larger power supply and fan. Mind you it does not sound "cheap." It sounds like a quality fan and power supply. It quite simply needs a little better ventilation and Netgear needs to invest that whopping extra 2 bucks on a higher grade fan that it is truly whisper quiet.

So in summary, fine for a network closet or an open area with a few people an other things that make modest constant noise, but think about it a bit if it will be in a "quiet" office setting. With quieter operation, it would easily earn 5 stars in my book. Netgear JGS516 ProSafe 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch

This is a boring category - especially for a small business with only moderate networking requirements.

I needed a short depth form factor to fit into a rack mount system. This device fit.

I wanted 1 GBPS to maximize desktop to NAS backup. This unit delivered. I can max out the link using Norton Ghost to DLink NAS from my Dell desktop. There was no performance degradation from adding 100MB and 10MB devices to the switch (there isn't a lot of traffic on the network).

So, it simply delivered on all needs.

It's an unmanaged gigabit switch, so there's no features to be reviewed. It does its job fine, in fact, I think the throughput might have increased when I replaced my SMC gigabit switch with this one.

Two things though, the fan noise is noticeable from 3' away. Heck, my Intel quad-core Antec Sonata rig is quieter than this switch.

Another thing is, this switch won't work if you have a mis-wired network cable. My old SMC switch will at least drop to 100mbit/s speed (since 4 wires required by 100mb/s speed are still correctly wired), with this switch, it's all or nothing. No big deal though, a good network cable fixes the problem.

I would've rated this a 4.5 star.

This product is excellent for what its intended to do - unmanaged gigabit switch. Because others have appropiately covered the product's technical merits, I wish to focus on the issue of fan noise, which I think has been exargerated by some reviewers. I have had my product on continuously now for over 2 weeks - the noise is more a quiet gentle humming noise that stays on continuously - guite pleasant, actually. I have my switch installed in my walkin closet, which is adjacent to my bedroom. I can only hear the humming noise inside the walkin closet but not in the adjacent bedroom, and would not mind if my bed were any closer to the switch - this is really a gentle noise. My switch handles 6 IP cameras, 4 computers, 1 xbox game, the router and other network accessories - I am using all but one port. I am glad I did not downgrade to a lower model because of this exargerated noise issue noted by a few reviewers. I recommend this product, if you need that many ports as I did.

Like the prior reviewer said, if its buried in a closet or setup in a loud rack of computers fine. But if you have it in the room with you all day, the cooling fan they uses is unethically loud. I've got a Core I7 computer with a honking graphics card and its more quiet than this simple unmanaged switch. It's literally driving me nuts and I'll be returning it for a product that isn't as loud.

Functionally it seems ok. THe physical mounting options are primarily for a rack or laying on a table. No wall mount without Jury Rigging it.

This product is a no brainer. Plug it in, attach your network components and you're done. Works with my two workstations, wall jack for intermittent notebook use, my Wii, my Verizon Hub and modem, addt'l downstream switches of different manufacture, network storage, you name it.

REALLY wanted to try the Cisco/Linksys product since that is what I have for other network products but after repeatedly reading negative reviews concerning longevity, I went with Netgear. Have had it about 2 months now so I really can't offer an opinion on Netgear's reliablility but the existing reviews were far better than the competition.

I have mine located in a downstairs office where ambient temp is always in the low 70s. I can barely hear the fan when I am sitting next to it on one of the work stations. In any other similar location, I would not consider fan noise to be an issue.

UPDATE 01 Oct 2010:

Have had it over a year now and have had NO issues, still works after power outages, spikes, surges, you name it. Boots right up and stays up...until the power goes out again (sigh).

UPDATE 28 May 2011:

Flawless. I'm not holding my breath any more. Giving every impression it'll outlast me. - Gigabit Switch - Networking - 16 Port - Gigabit Ethernet Switch'

16gb Sdhc Memory Card

I purchased this for use with my new Canon T2i. I use it primarily for shooting full resolution 1080p video, although I shoot stills as well.

The camera choked on the class 4 chip that I originally purchased, but with this one, it is amazing. I can shoot rapidfire 18 megapixel stills (I've tested it up to 30+ shots in a row), and there is no lag. I've never had an error when shooting hi-def video.

Highly recommended! I'm buying another one. Transcend 16 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS16GSDHC10E

I bought this card for my Canon T1i. The card I had been using before ordering this one was a Kingston Class 6 micro sd card and it worked well enough for the type of shooting I did. Class 6 was the card speed that Canon recommended when I bought my T1i (Class 10 cards were not yet available) and it seemed fast enough for the way I used my camera - isolated single photos taken at Medium (8 MP) or Large (15 MP) jpg settings and 1280 x 720 video. And while I ocassionally took continuous photos, I had never much exceeded 5-10 photos in a row and had never run into a problem with my Class 6 card.

When I first saw the Class 10 cards I did some experiments with my camera. How many continuous Large photos could I take before the camera slowed down? It turned out to be about 30. And how many RAW photos could I take before the camera slowed down? It turned out to be about 9. SInce I did not generally take any photos in RAW and never needed more than about 10 continuous photos at Large, the Class 6 card seemed more than sufficient for my needs. But I wondered about the speed of the Class 10 cards enough that I finally bought one.

It turns out that the Class 10 card is sufficiently fast that there does not seem to be a reasonable upper limit on single Large photos. I have taken 60 on continuous without an issue. And although I still cannot take more than 9 RAW photos on continuous with the Class 10 card, when I am finished taking those photos the camera no longer displays a Wait - writing pictures screen. The RAW photos get written from the built-in memory to the card so quickly that the camera does not need to display the Wait screen.

So this card is fast! Given the way I take photos this purchase was unnecessary, but still I am glad I bought it. I know I will not run into a situation where speed is an issue with this card.

I will be writing this review for both SanDisk Extreme SDHC class 10 8gb and Transcend SDHC class 10 16gb.

I bought SanDisk class 10 and Transcend class 10 for my new Panasonic LX5. I got both card because no one really did a comparison with a compact camera and I was just going crazy trying to see if there is any big difference between the 2 cards.

SanDisk Extreme package box indicated it's water proof, x-ray proof, shock proof, temperature proof. I am not ready to spend $50 to see if it really stand up to it's words. And I don't think normal people would go through the extreme condition in taking pictures or videos.

Cut the story short, I really want to see if there is any difference in writing performance between the 2 cards in a compact camera. There is a continuous burst mode in LX5 and the manual indicated it is only limited by the condition of picture environment and performance of the SD card. Within the mode there are 2 different settings:1) speed priority or 2) picture/quality priority. The shutter speed is much faster with speed priority compare to picture priority.

I first formatted both cards out of box then put each card in series of test(3 rounds each setting for each card) shooting at the same object under same lighting condition. The results:

Speed Priority:

SanDisk Class 10 8gb

22-33 shots before camera stopped to allow the card to catch up with writing.

Transcend Class 10 16gb

22-24 shots before camera stopped to allow the card to catch up with writing.

Picture priority

SanDisk Class 10 8gb

34-46 shots before camera stopped

Transcend Class 10 16gb

27-33 shots before camera stopped

It seems that at a higher shutter speed, both cards performed very similar under the same shooting condition. But at a slower shutter speed the SanDisk definitely out perform Transcend. I hope this little experiment satisfied anyone with curiosity like me. Transcend definitely is a bargain with 16gb and almost half of the price compare to SanDisk. But I am going to use SanDisk Extreme as my primary card and Transcend as backup or on a second camera to ensure i would not miss any shots.

OK. this card was around $47 for a class 10 16gb. The other card i bought was a Sandisk class 10 8gb for the around same price. I did a 10 sec stop watch test on both cards with my Rebel T1i on raw and the Sandisk was only faster by 1 shot in a 10 sec burst. to me it seems trivial to pay 47 bucks for a Sandisk 8gig when you can get 16 gigs for the same price. yes i know, the Sandisk is good for arctic and desert temperatures... but i live in western NY... not Antarctica or the Sahara. If your looking for a good card, with more gigs for your buck, the Transcend is well worth it.'

Mini Stereo Cable - audio, audio cables

Don't try to save a buck by getting a cheaper cable. Some cables are very thin, like the one I got with my SanDisk MP3. The Belkin cable is the real thing.

I use this cable to connect the male stereo single plug-ins of my MP3 (SanDisk Sansa Clip) to my boom box. I'm very happy with the way it works.

Anywhere it calls for either a 1/8" stereo or a 3.5mm stereo cable, this Belkin cable is going to work. It is well worth the price, and you can't get it for less anywhere else as far as I can tell.

This is a rare product that I endorse by saying, if it's the correct cable for your connection, don't think anymore but just get it. Really. Belkin 6ft Mini Stereo Dubbing Mini Plug/ Mini Plug

I use my mini-plug/mini-plug cable to connect my mp3 player to my portable speaker. The 6-foot length provides plenty of leeway to maneuver the devices, as I carry them from room to room. When I took the new cable out of the package, the first things that impressed me were the thick cord and the thick plugs. One would think that logically, when all things are equal, the more material is used to construct an item, the longer it would last. Only time will tell, but for now, the cable works just as well as any that I ever owned, at a very reasonable price. It is a good buy.

I am no expert, but I don't think that this is a Belkin brand aux. cord. It came in a sealed plastic bag with a white sticker and it is not marked with a Belkin label. Also, it seems to be below-average quality. I would look elsewhere.

1. I have a iPhone3Gs with a case, the cable won't get on without removing the case!

2. I did manage to use the product for about 10 days (hence the extra star), as I was compelled to do so. I was on a 4000 mile road trip. Shielding is not that good, but good for the price I guess. But somehow the sound quality deteriorated after around 8 days of use. When I moved the cable a little bit, it would go back to normal.

I later returned the product as I had already bought a aux cable from radioshack, which I have to say, works flawlessly, I don't even need to remove the case. Its not too over priced, I think I bought it for $7. I definitely would recommend this over the Belkin. That said, I am a big fan of Belkin products, if it were not for the first issue I would have definitely reordered a replacement!

I picked up this mini-to-mini wire because I had been sick of previous purchases (not online) that always seemed to break down after a few months of use. Either the wires would become loose internally and you get that dreaded "shake it a little and the music stops", or the plug itself would not fit right (too deep or too shallow).

Seriously, these are problems I've had. Perhaps it's because I use it while Snowboarding and subject these wires to some serious inclement conditions.

This Belkin one is a little more expensive than your standard wire, but it's served me well for the last ten shredding sessions. I'll update the review again at the end of the season, but it appears that this is a case where you pay for what you get. And I need a wire that will stand up to near-zero Fahrenheit temperatures while being twisted around.

UPDATE: After a whole season of snowboarding, this wire has survived the test and I'm very happy with it. No loose connections, and somehow even in the cold it still hasn't torn. Since this connects to my helmet, many people see a wire hanging around my hood (from left shoulder to right). And yet with the many falls and scrapes, it's still as good as the first day. This is an excellent purchase.

Really isn't much to say about the thing. It feels pretty durable and sounds good. The only thing you might want to look out for is the casing around the end of the plug. I got this for an ipod/car hookup and the cable won't connect completely because of the case on my ipod. Simple enough to fix by taking off the case, but some people might find it annoying. If that isn't problematic for your setup then this product works fine.

This cable rocks. It fits in nice and tight in both my Blackberry Curve and my Toyota Corrola's AUX input. Sound quality is fantastic. It's very clean sounding with no static or noise. I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this to connect my laptop to the compact stereo component system (JVC FS-H300) on my kitchen counter, so that I can play internet radio through the component system's speakers. This cable is perfect for the job. The JVC has an "aux" input that takes one mini-plug, and the other mini-plug connects to the output (headphone) jack on my laptop. Some reviews said you should get the shortest cable that works for your application, because there's degradation with longer ones ... but I don't detect any issue with the 6-foot cable, and it sure is nice to have some flexibility in where to set up the laptop source, since the counters get crowded sometimes. - Audio - Male To Male - Audio Cables - Cable'

Hard Floor Cleaner - eurêka, hard floor cleaner

Know going in If you get the Envirosteamer, know that, though it cleans the best, the first two times you use it the water goes through holes faster than it will in subsequent uses, so it will go through steam faster and your floors will be wetter than normal. Enough people wrote me to know this happened the first one or two times as it did my first time of use, then after that the mop was normal, our floors are great and it lasts waaaah longer. We don't know why. Just know that going in. After the first two initializing uses it steams perfect! Also obviously the steam lasts longest if you don't hold the mop above the floor to walk to another area since the steam pours out as it will with any steam mop if you do.

(update: This review was updated on 11-2-09 after I got to compare the Bissell as well as add notes about the Ladybugg steamer at the bottom, and then on 11-30 when I got to compare the SteamFast SF-140 and on 12-7 to compare the Steam Boy)

I live in a neighborhood where EVERY home is "green built certified" this means that, to have that certification, the builder built no homes with carpet. All the main floors are polished concrete and the upper floors wood. The bathrooms all have tile and/or slate in every home.

Because of this, as you could imagine, steam mops are quite the neccessity...not only because they get the hard surfaces better than anything else, but because they are also "green" and clean chemical free. I'll be honest, for us...that's a bonus but we weren't cleaning chemical free before. We like chemical free for our pet's paws but I'll confess I was mopping with chemicals before I got my steamer and just kept the pets out of the room while doing it because, up until then, I couldn't get it clean any other way.

Okay, so that said...we decided to have a steamer show down to compare 7 different steamers because my friends and I knew as long as we are in these homes we are gonna have to have a steamer to get all these hard floors clean...we may as well figure out which one to buy next go round. Because my own home is graced with 2 cats, 3 dogs, and two gregarious cooks, my kitchen floor (which had not ever been cleaned by a steamer since my steamer had just arrived) was the testing spot.

Mind you, I vaccuum twice per week and do a mega mop twice a week. I THOUGHT I had pretty clean floors in spite of my pet capacity.

I thought wrong. These picked up dirt so well it's scary

So here's the results:

1. steam mops are the mac daddys of clean floors. What these things picked up was tremendous and no comparison to my vigorous prior constant major mopping.

2. So now I'll break down the elements of each mop we used and then go into more detail about each at the end.

We tried out:

"S": The shark by Europro

"E" The Envirosteamer by Eureka

"H" the haan steamer

"M" the Monster

"B" The Bissell Green Tea

"SF" The SteamFast SF-140 by SteamFast

"SB" The SteamBoy T1

CORD LENGTH: so you don't have to stop and unplug and replug in somewhere else:

Shark ( will be referred to as S):20 feet

Envirosteamer (will be referred to as E): 25 feet *Note* The Envirosteamer has a clip at the top of the handle to keep the cord out of the way. When it's plugged in and you need more cord length, a light tug undoes this cord on the clip so that you have the full 25' of cord. Otherwise it's only around 20 feet. It's made to do this.

Haan: (will be referred to as H)19'8"

Monster (will be referred to as M): 25 feet

Bissell (will be referred to as B) 17 feet

SteamFast (will be referred to as SF): 18.7 ft.

SteamBoy (will be referred to as SB): 16 ft.

STEAM TEMPERATURE: this is a primary element. The hotter the steam, the more dirt picked up and hot steam will also kill parasites, mold and mildew and loosen more dirt:

S 110 degrees. lame

E 220 degrees. very hot

H 212 degrees. very hot

M 266 degrees. hottest...although the envirosteamer and haan seemed plenty hot enough. The shark didn't clean nearly as well and this was one reason. 110 degrees just isn't going to melt off stuck on grime.

B 125 degrees. Note that, because of this low steam temperature the manual said that if I wanted to sanitize the floor or pick up caked on spills, I had to hold the steamer on the spot for 15 seconds but no more than 20 because that could damage some floors. Now I don't know about you, but if I can sanitize with one swipe of the other steamers because of their sanitizing temps my floor will be done WAY faster but I don't have a timer to worry about the extra 5 secons where my wood floors could get damaged. My sink water is hotter than this so it would take less time to use a regular mop if I have to hold the steamer on every spot of my floor for 15 seconds to santize. Just sayin

SF: 137 degrees. Not hot enough to clean well nor sanitize.

SB: 120 degrees. Not hot enough to clean well nor sanitize

BUILD:

We found how it was made corresponded with issues with the steamer. The Shark, for example, was quite flimsy and they actually sell replacement handle kits because so many people have issues with the handle breaking! We know this because my neighbor's shark broke and the store had a replacement handle kit on the shelf because he said "it happens often". That's an extra cost.

Envirosteamer: Was 5.4 lbs which made it lightweight but strong enough that you didn't have to press down to clean. Very well made and strong parts

Haan: not made as well as the envirosteamer but it's more expensive so this was a surprise. A bit flimsy and you need to press down on it more to clean at 3.15 lbs.

Monster: hefty and well made at 9 lbs but a bit too heavy unless you want a good workout. (Note: They have changed the Monster handles on the mops now and they are all plastic and people are having breakage issues)

Bissell: It's 8.4 pounds but that includes a water filter that you have to get for this one (see notes below)

SteamFast: very flimsy plastic all over, but it's also more affordable than the other mops so it's a bit of a trade off. 7 lbs.

SteamBoy: They didn't even ship this preassembled like the other mops. We had to assemble it! Pretty flimsy plastic. 9 lbs but that includes the water filter you have to get with this one (see notes below)

WATER CAPACITY: Very important because having to stop and add more water just adds on to the time you have to spend cleaning, especially if you are cleaning a hallway or livingroom or some other area that has no sink:

S: only holds up to 10 oz of water. Lasted for 10 miinutes of cleaning

E: holds up to 20 oz. of water. Lasted for over 20 minutes of cleaning (we stopped at 20 and it was still going)

H: holds up to 11.83 oz of water. Lasted for 13 minutes of cleaning

M: holds up to 17 oz. of water. Lasted for 15 minutes of cleaning

B: holds up to 13 oz of water, lasted for 12.5 minutes of cleaning AND you have to undo and remove the tank from the machine every time you fill it up then hook it back on and the steam tank is on the handle rather than the base so the steam doesn't flow directly out after heating up which may explain why it's not as hot once it leaves the machine. The way this mop is made the water flows past heating elements which can, according to Bissell, develop calcium deposits on it so this is the only mop where, because of this, you also have to use a water filter with it and replace the water filter when there is build up which means and extra 12 bucks every few months. The better mops are made to heat the water in a metal tank so this is not an issue and you pour the water directly into the tank.

SF: Holds the least amount of water and I had to stop and fill up and get the water reheated often in trying to clean the floor. Only holds 8 oz of water and if you use 8 oz it gets your floor too wet so we wound up filling it with just up to 7.5 oz of water for best results and it only lasted 7 minutes when we did that before we had to refill again.

SB: up to 24 oz BUT it only lasted for 12 minutes of cleaning. I think because of the build. This one also is made so that the water has to flow past heating elements down the handle, rather than flowing directly from a hot tank to the floor at the base. Because of this it can develop calcium deposits inside the mop so you have to also buy a water filter for this mop and replace it every few months when there is build up which means extra cost and, quite possibly, more repairs. Because this does not flow directly out of a hot tank it cools on the way down and possibly with this one evaporates somehow because we tried it twice and the steam simply didn't last as long as it should.

STEAM HOLES: We found a difference although you'd think they'd all be the same. The shark only had one hole that the steam came out of so it wasn't cleaning things on the edges, just in one spot. All the others had steam coming from bottom and sides. Steamboy also didn't have holes near the edge

SIZE: The taller it is the less stooping, the wider the mop head, the more it covers

S: 40"Hx12"Wx7"D

E: 50"Hx13.25"Wx6.75"D (the fact that this depth was smaller made it reach under applicances better...it fit better under things)

H: 50.5x11.5x7.5

M: 48x12.7.5

B: 45.25H (this was uncomfortably short) x11 x8.4 (even though this didn't fit under cabinets because of the depth it did swivel the best)

SF:49x11.8x7

SB: 28.2x6.9x7.9

Conclusion of comparison: First it must be pointed out that, in order to use the shark and the Bissell and the SteamBoy, you had to keep pumping the water. This was the most annoying feature of anything...the others just steamed on their own and didn't wear out your fingers. Hated this feature of the shark and Bissell and SteamBoy. We liked that the Monster, the Shark, the Envirosteamer, the SteamFast and the Bissell came with 2 cleaning pads rather than one. The Haan only came with one at the time of the review (I double checked since when she bought hers it was also only one and as of today, that hasn't changed) so that ups the price even more because I can't imagine only wanting one to clean. All worked well on sanitizing mattresses and showers. too.

But the winner picked by all of us unanimously as the mop we want to have for our next steam mop order?

The Eureka Envirosteamer. It picked up the most dirt, was made as well as the Monster but was less expensive, held the most water, emitted the most very hot steam so it sanitized as well, lasted 3 times as long with one water resevor fillup as the others, and had a cord as long as the monster. BUT if you have carpets than I would recommend the Monster because it has a carpet attachment that allows you to steam clean your carpets and it picked up pretty close to the same amount of dirt as the Eureka Envirosteamer, and had close to the same features...a bit heavier though but that may make it last even longer. It is costlier, but to clean 2 surfaces I would think that might make it worth it.

UPDATE: The Haan just started including 2 pads with the mop according to the product description page. Not that this changes our opinion since it didn't work as well and the parts were flimsier, but it should be noted that this issue of not having enough cleaning pads has now been resolved and is equal to the other mops.

ANOTHER UPDATE: 1. The Shark came out with a new machine that holds more water and has a longer cord BUT it still only heats the water to 110 degrees so it won't sanitize or get rid of trapped grime at this "bathwater" temperature.

Another update: Since this review, we tried out canister mops. They work great for tight areas, but not on floor cleaning because the steam has to travel from the canister, down a long tube, then out the base so the steam is even cooler than the shark by the time it reaches the floor, even on the most expensive models. However, if you are looking at something just to steam tight areas like grout, and don't need it for your floor, the Vapamore performed the best out of the canister mops we played with when using the short cords for cleaning so the steam left the tank hot.

Also: Don't spend money buying extra pads for the Eureka. I was in a pinch and used a kitchen dish towel...the rectangular kind...just clip on both ends. It worked just as good or better...because they are thinner so the steam penetrates faster and therefore reaches the floor hotter. However, I would recommend still only using the thick pads that come with it for your wood floors just to be safe. But the super hot steam penetrating the dish towel worked excellent on tile and hard floors. Also, you can flip both the towel and the pads that come with it on the Eureka to double the usage...when it gets dirty, just flip it over and use the other side. I use several old dish towels with this but I like best the kind that just have a bit of texture but no squares sewn on them...but they all work great. So do the pads.

Also we noticed that a reviewer above us on the page flattered us by adding all of our information you read in our review about cord length, all the mops, steam temperatures we measured etc into her older review that is first on the page that originally contained none of this information. However, now that she edited her review to include our 6 hrs of research we apologize that it makes reading these two reviews very redundant. We promise when we first posted this review that no other review on this page contained any of the information on temperatures etc in our review until we posted our findings and they were copied into an older review higher on the page via editing. It's pretty boring now for the reader to read the same thing twice. But we are flattered someone felt it good enough research to want to copy into their review so we hold no grudge...I just didn't want anyone to think we were being redundant. :-) )

WHY YOU WANT THE TANK ON THE BOTTOM/MOP HEAD: All steam starts out at 212 degrees. Some mops increase the heat from there. Some mops heat the water up, then it has to travel down tubes and get to the base, and then leave the holes, which results in a cooling process. This can also result in calcium deposits along that piping which eventually clogs the waterflow or makes you buy and store filtered water to use in the mop. On mops like the Envirosteamer, the water is heated in a stainless steel tank at the base of the mop and flows directly out onto the floor instantly with no traveling through the mop so it leaves the mop steaming hot. Put your hand over a cup of coffee directly at the top of the coffee. That's hot steam. Now move your hand waaaay up above the coffee cup where there is still steam but it is further from the heat source due to traveling. It's cooler steam. The mops are no different. Plus putting the weight at the head of the mop puts the preasure on the pad, not the handle you have to push.

CLOTHS: I like 100 percent cotton better than microfiber. Microfiber streaks. Although some complain about the Envirosteamer's pads shrinking they are meant to. I wash em in hot water. They'll fit perfect after they shrink so don't even be concerned. (they are cotton and quite absorbant.) Army Pants

I love these pants! I bought them for myself and wanted something different from woodland camo or BDU. Knowing this is the pattern from Vietnam I am confident that I can lay in a swamp and never been seen. Bonus!!!! However, here in northern Minnesota, I will not be laying in any swamps anytime soon so I will just be happy with a comfy pair of utility pants. These are exactly what I was looking for, I didn't want jeans with a camo print, I wanted button fly fatigues with a reinforced seat...I got them. I am so pleased with the purchase. They fit a bit bigger than I anticipated but that could be due to recent weight loss and my misconception of garment size, but the adjustable waist tabs handled that for me perfectly! Soft, durable fabric...they washed well, too. Thank you! Camouflage Military BDU Pants, Army Cargo Fatigues (City Camouflage, Size Large)

I got what i expected. A pair of cool looking camo pants, for a good price. Two buttons fell off when I undid them from in the package. You can see the sewing on the buttons is not that good. As soon as I sew them back on the right way there a good pair of pants for working and messing around in. Durable material, just not super comfortable. Overall get what you pay for I would recommend.

its tough on the areas where it needs to be rough like the knee area and butt area, comes with huge side pockets on both legs and you can tighten up the bottom part of the pants with strings and comes with adjustable wasit line thing that adds like an extra inch or two around the wasit line if you a heavey set guy. all in all good pants

Pants are great. Arrived exactly as advertised and seem pretty durable. The buttons are terrible. Two popped off just trying the pants on. The stitching for the all the buttons is no good. Pretty annoying to have to resew them all before I can wear them.

I am in the military and the quality is comparable to real deal. Very tough, well made fabric. Only complaint is it will fade after a while. I've bought at least 3 pair of them over the years and found that they fade slower if washed inside-out. great product though!'

Three Minute Egg - restorative yoga, three minute egg

While visiting Miami Yoga Shala recently, I chanced upon this innovative product at a time when my lower back muscles were sore every day, due to stress. I had been using foam blocks as a way to relieve lower back pain like a good yogini, which was working, but the angle of the blocks edge was a bit intense.

I am so thankful for this innovative design which not only allows for a more forgiving therapy, but I also use these eggs for back support when I am sitting up in bed with pillows behind my back or on a couch working or reading, like right now.

I do highly recommend two eggs for two reasons: 1) to massage both sides of the back simultaneously while lying down with the eggs up on the curved side (flat sides facing each other) separated about an inch apart to allow the spine to fall between them; and 2) for a wide lower back support in front of all those pillows as you sit up in bed or on the couch.

Kids also love to use them.

I'm sure there are a lot of uses I haven't figured out, time to branch out with my eggs.

Very Delicious! Very Smart! Namast-Egg Starter Kit (Ergonomic Yoga Block from Three Minute Egg)

Since ordering six months ago, my Three Minute Eggs have been at my side for every yoga practice and for Pilates workouts, too. My wrists have limited range of flexion, but the Eggs help me maintain variations in table pose comfortably. They are so light, you can lift an arm and just carry the Egg along for the ride without negatively impacting the integrity of your pose, such as a bulky block could. They help with planks and Pilates pushups, and are indispensable for reverse plank, reverse tabletop and Pilates leg pull ups.

The Eggs are a must for my restorative practice too, especially for supporting outer thighs in Supta Baddha Konasana. Not having the legs "dangling" and causing tension in the inner thighs permits a much deeper release and relaxation. You can be creative too - I've found they make a nice supportive seat for meditation or prana. I place the Eggs on their flat side in a V-shape and sit on the narrow point with each side's sit bones on one Egg. The lower body is supported nicely and tailbone is free to help extend the spine. (I refer to that setup as my Lotus Blossom seat.)

Jason Scholder developed them as an alternate to the heart block - my Eggs are just plain close to my heart.

As for the DVD-R, Healthy Alignment For Yoga - I must say that for a tutorial DVD it is very well made. It runs approximately 30 minutes and you are moving through yoga poses the entire time, at a good temperate pace - not too fast, not too slow. The model is obviously experienced and does a good job demonstrating the moves. An added bonus is that the DVD is chaptered by each asana, so if you wish to review or click back to a specific pose you can do so with ease. The background music is not exciting, but appropriate for the pace, and the voice over instruction is clear. Breathing is cued, so important to yoga - Jason really did his homework. My favorite poses are the deep bridge with the eggs on end under the sacrum, and forward bend using the eggs to gently pull yourself forward. In only 30 minutes, I really do feel aligned after finishing this practice. My only quabble is that I always fumble getting precisely into the supported fish pose, but my method for this is, once the eggs are set up right, I just rest and enjoy the heart opening for as long as I like and then click back to the next sequential pose in the practice.

I do not have the mesh bag, having ordered before it was available - but it looks cute!

I think I would have to describe myself as an optimist. And a skeptic. A skeptical optimist. In other words, I really do "want to believe" but you may to have to spend some time convincing me why I should.

Especially when it comes to yoga blocks. There's something so friendly and familiar about rectangular yoga blocks. Like my best gal pals, they support me, they stretch me and they encourage me. And then they stack neatly away (the blocks - not the gal pals.)

So why on earth mess with something so time-tested and functional? Because Jason Scholder has a better idea.

I discovered Jason's Three Minute Eggs at the San Francisco Yoga Journal Conference held at the Hyatt Regency in January, and they stopped me in my tracks. This may have been partially due to the pair of size 14 boots attached to six feet of inquiring mind blocking my path. Sure, the guy lying on the floor in front of me looked happy - but really - an egg shaped yoga block? Give me a break. The thing is, Three Minute Eggs cannot be sold on looks alone - they have to be experienced. In the case of the Three Minute Egg, feeling is believing. Jason and his assistant Megan were making sure that every curious George and Georgette had an opportunity to sample the future of yoga blocks first hand. I didn't have time for that so I had a quick chat with Jason, sort of half promised I'd be back, and then moved on.

But that night I couldn't stop thinking about the possibilities. Sometimes it's difficult to tell a gimmick from a true, forward-thinking innovation. I had to find out for myself. And that's how, the next day, I returned with my inquiring mind and had my own little lie-down on Jason's floor.

Megan set me up in a chest opening back bend, followed by a neck roll and finished with a wrist-supporting downward dog. And if that wasn't enough to convince me, Jason showed me how to use my body weight and the corner of the egg to massage deep into my hips and shoulders.

I was sold, and one month later my clients love how the Three Minute Egg gently encourages a deeper and safer expression of their poses. I use them in all the ways that were shown and more - that's the thing about the Three Minute Eggs - you just keep coming up with new ways to incorporate them into a practice. I use them with my clients to support stronger alignment but I also use them for simple warm-up stretches. For students with shoulder impingement and poor range of motion, they stack beautifully and offer confidence-building support. Their ergonomic shape makes holding onto them easy - they literally become extensions of the arms during flow sequences.

As far as I'm concerned -- and as far as my clients are concerned - the Three Minute Egg is true innovation.

The Three Minute Egg comes packaged in a mesh drawstring backpack for easy transport and storage. I found the bags a bit frustrating at first but that was easily remedied by shortening the straps and retying the knots - just be sure to burn the ends so the strings don't fray. Presto, chango - no more frustration.

The Three Minute Egg has endless possibilities and benefits for everyone's yoga practice. Two separate DVD's are available to further encourage your "cre-egg-tivity." Highly Recommended - nikon d5000, lens accessories

I am kind of new to photography and needed some filters for my 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses on my Nikon d5000.. oh man i have got to admit that after i used this filters i could notice the huge difference... especially after polarizer. UV is a really good protection for you lens. It is a great product, i would recommend it to everyone especially if you are new and you dont want to pay 60$ for an expensive filter. It feels really nice and heavy. Made from metal and glass i think.. the best thing is that its cheap and it came with a cleaning cloth and small carrying bag that you keep your filters in. Overall i was more than satisfied with this product! buy it and its also fast 3 day shipping.. .. PLR Optics High Resolution 3-piece Filter Set (UV, Fluorescent, Polarizer) For The Nikon D5000, D3000, D5100, D3100, D7000 Digital SLR Cameras Which Have Any Of These (18-55mm, 55-200mm, 50mm) Nikon Lenses

This is a nice set of filters - basic for all needs - I actually put the UV filter on when I lost my lens cap on vacation - good protection too. Nice case to keep the lenses in when not in use small and handy.

I was a little hesitant to purchase these filters with the lack of reviews but I'm SO glad I did. The filters came two days after I placed the order (kudos to the seller) and I was able to start taking pictures with them right away. The carrying case is a plus as it's nice to have a safe, non-destructive place to store the filters. I just started taking pictures with a DSLR but noticed a difference in the photographs right away. I would recommend these for ANYONE starting out as it's a quick and affordable way to increase tone and light quality in photographs.

These filters are great.

I haven't had them for long, but I'm already in love with them. I use one of them for each picture I take, they always brighten and clear out the picture. They fit my Nikon D3000 with the 18-55mm lens perfectly, secure, and they take beautiful pictures. I use them with a zoom lens on top of it, and the effect shines through. I have no shadow, everything PERFECT. I would recommend this product to anybody that is having difficulty chosing between an expensive rip-off and this. They work most probably exactly the same, except the price differs. Anyhow; choose wisely, and this product is absolutely terrific. :)

I knew one should always use a filter--neutral density if nothing else--to protect my Nikon D40X SLR lens. When one of the filters broke, I selected this set from Polaroid as a replacement, getting three different filters plus a lens cleaning kit for what I would pay for one filter at a local store. Have used the neutral density and polarizing filters and they appear to be of good quality.

I've seen how much you can pay for similar sets in retail stores, so I was a little nervous about the quality of these (much) cheaper filters. I am an amateur photographer, not a professional, but as far as I am concerned these are absolutely fine for my purposes at a fraction of the cost of some other brands. Very happy.

Got this set for my Nikon D3100 18-55mm lens. For sure, they aren't able to compare than those $50 or more price filters, but this set has ok quality from the price point of view. The quality is little better than those $10 less filters and we got 3 filters/ and a carry bag per $12.5.

The UV filter provides me reflection for indoor picture targeting light sources. C PL and FL-D are just ok. It's good begining set to know how filter works, but what you paid is what you get. It won't give you the performance for quality pictures. - Lens Accessories - 52mm Filter - Highly Recommended - Nikon D5000'
