Weight Management - weighing scale, accurate
I wanted a simple scale, no batteries, that could hold up 350 lbs.
This one does just that. It seems accurate to me. Good dial size since my vision isn't great. It isn't tiny so if you are a large guy you will feel comfortable on it. Thinner Scale by Conair TH100 Extra Large Dial Analog Precision Scale, Black and Silver
This is the way products used to be. No flash. No complication. Same result every time. Sensitive to a pound or two difference. Performance not critical to position on platform. Temperature differences require a minor centering of the needle before weighing, using a small wheel at the base of the scale. Checked within a couple of tenths of a pound with an accurate digital scale I have. Solid product. Unbelievable price. I considered it accurate enough to use for weight and balance calculations on my homebuilt airplane.
I am a fitness nut, hit the gym 5 to 6 times a week and watch what I eat and monitor my weight. I have had more expensive scales. However, this scale IS accurate and consistent so I am surprised at some comments saying otherwise. I am pleased, for the price you can't beat this scale, seriously. I am updating this review, have had this scale for over a year. STILL right on target regarding being consistent and accurate. A very good investment for my health, works like a charm.
This is a basic and attractive bathroom scale. I have another scale that is upside down in my bathroom. "Why is it upside down?" you ask. Because it doesn't work, and I've been trying to troubleshoot why it's not working. It has all the bells and whistles, fat monitor and digital readout, but unfortunately it is impossible to get to work and it requires batteries.
That's why I am so pleased with this scale. I simply step on it and it tells me what I weigh. I am not sure if it's precise down to the nth digit. It's difficult to read down to the pound because of the small iterations between the pound marks. I am just looking at my weight to see if I am up or down a couple of pounds, and this scale does precisely that. Plus, it's really nice looking. 4 stars for looks and ease of use. Minus 1 star for not knowing your weight down to the nth level.
Very reliable and sturdy product. I always prefer analog read out over digital; I don't have to worry about replacing batteries. A unique feature is: the scale platform is wide enough to weigh your luggage before you arrive at the airport.
I definitely highly recommend this product as a FIVE STAR.
Thank you Amazon.com for providing such excellent services (also a FIVE STAR).
Michael Copeland
I am disappointed with my new scale. It is difficult to set the needle to zero, it wants to go to one side or the other, it has to be reset after each use, and worse, it is reading 10 pounds light. I would not recommend it to any other buyer.
I had not owned a weighing scale for a long time. Not so long ago I stepped on a 280 lb scale in a store, and was rather surpised at where the needle ended up, and that was an analog with the needle not set correctly at zero.
So I decided to lose weight, and buy a scale to monitor my progress. I decided not to go digital but analog, and bought this particular scale in a department store. When I checked later the Amazon price was $10 cheaper.
I love this scale. It's strong and sturdy, and wide enough that you can stand comfortably. The clock face is big enough to read clearly, and the weight goes all the way up to 340. The pinwheel for adjusting to zero is big enough that you can use your big toe to adjust it if you so choose.
I bought this scale because it reminded me of the one in the gym from years ago, it's very similar to the Salter 200 Academy Professional Mechanical Scale, White and Gray in look and design although that one is much more expensive.
I have lost about 11 pounds in two months, and satisfied with its level of accuracy.
So, if you cannot wait to lose weight any longer, and you want to go old school go ahead and get it.
I hope this was helpful.
Maybe I got a lemom but I tried this scale for a week, weighing on a Dr's scale and other scales. This Conair scale was always from 5 to 8 pound too light. Makes you feel good but not accurate! I like the size and design of the scale and sorry it didn't work because I wanted an analog scale but ....it wasn't accurate. - Mechanical Scales - Weight - Accurate - Weighing Scale'

Water-resistant - water-resistant
I was interested in a clean-looking stainless moon-phase watch and happened on this Stuhrling. At $125, the price was enticing for an occasional-wear item, my everyday wristwatch workhorses all being TX watches now.
Ever-so-slightly disappointing in appearances, I'd rank this watch with some of the lower-end Invictas I've owned: attractive, considering the price. You get what you pay for, that's certain. My main complaint is that despite a 165' WR claim, common to many watches I've owned, the first day I wore it I was doing some work around the house on a warm day and perspiring a bit: the watch face fogged almost immediately.
If you're hard on watches, as I am, the water-resistant claim is important. I never buy anything that isn't water-resistant, and have never had this issue with any other watch so designated, even in light water-use situations like swimming and snorkeling. Stuhrling Original Men's 214L.33152 Classic 'Artemis' Moon Phase Swiss Quartz Watch
I bought this as an anniverary gift for my husband. While I was attempting to set up the moon phase of the watch for him, the crown of the dial came off! Imagine my horror! And, he did not even get to wear it! I am very disappointed at the quality of this watch. I had expected more.
This watch arrived today, and I was immediately surprised and impressed with the packaging... the attention to detail is awesome. The watch itself is absolutely gorgeous! It was a little tricky to set the moon phase, but after rereading the directions a couple time I figured it out, and its more tedius rather than difficult to set. The watch size is great, and if you think of value of this watch based on the price it is really great! - Water-resistant'

Bamboo Viscose Socks - bamboo viscose socks, bamboo socks
These socks fit well. To note, I'm about 6' tall, and the socks go over my calves, to about an inch or two below my knee. I figure if you don't have tree trunks for legs, this will be the same effect for you; i.e. they're not going to be mid-calf socks as depicted. They're a bit thinner than expected, but so far they've held up after several washes, so I'm a fan. Screen Cleaner - monitor cleaner, cleaner
While this product did clean my lcd and plasma monitors, the chore was quite time intensive. Eventually, after trying to clean each screen about four times they did come clean. The CleanDr did not provide the presto cleano I had expected. In the end the screens were cleaner then when I began, but I had to buff them like I was waxing a car. I will try a different product next time. CleanDr 60600 00 LCD/Plasma Screen Cleaner
CleanDr works absolutely perfect. I cleaned my 42" LCD in about 2 minutes without any streaks residue left over. The important thing to know when using these products is that you must spray the cleaner on the rag, NOT THE TV!!! If you spray on the TV, you will apply to much, making it harder to get off. Just spray a couple times onto the cloth and wipe down, if it starts to get dry, spray a few more times and continue until you're finished. For the price, and the results, you can't go wrong.
The clerk at the store suggested this product for my dirty tv. I'm not sure what exactly got on it but it needed cleaning very badly.
I sprayed the included cloth with a few spritzes, making it damp, not wet, and applied it to the tv, then buffed it off with a dry part of the cloth. The television is now clean and shiny and gorgeous again. So I used it on my monitor and my husband used it on his laptop.
Applying it with the cloth, then buffing off with a dry part of the cloth seems to work best for me. All the screens are gorgeous and clean now. I did have to go over my monitor twice which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Yes, being able to use a screen cleaner like you would window cleaner would be nice. But this product does work well if you follow directions and don't use too much of it to clean the screen.
I have reviously purchased "CleanDR" cleaning products and was quite pleased. However, this smaller bottle of cleaning fluid was sub-par. I even emailed the manufacturer, NO Reply! This bottle of cleaner has a high level of perfume smell, and it leaves streaks and smears after wiping.
I've spent too much money on my plasma TV and my LCD monitor to play around with cheap cleaning products. I regret my purchase of this product and I should have known better! View this as an idiot's confession. There is very little comfort in buying a screen cleaning product if you don't feel the product actually protects your substantial investment in HDTVs and/or monitors.
The cleaning cloth is very small (7" X 7") and has a bound edge that feels, to my fingers, far more abrasive than the cleaning cloth itself. I worry that this bound edge will scratch the delicate surface of my LCD monitor.
The cleaning fluid has a strong perfume in it. While I hated the sweet smell - that is hardly the issue. What bothered me most was that there was a perfume, of any type, in a screen cleaning fluid.
Finally this entire product is made in China and I worry about quality control - particularly in the fluid's chemical composition. This is a country that has problems keeping poisons out of its milk supply. With my plasma TV costing $2800.00 and my PC monitor worth over $600.00 - I was an idiot to purchase such a cheap screen cleaning kit. I want a company with a cleaning fluid formulated, mixed and packaged in the USA (or other first world country). I want a cleaning cloth that does not have rough edges.
Buyer beware - there may be a great deal of false security in buying this type of product
I have to say that I was very disappointed in this product. I purchased it to clean the screen on my new 52" LCD television. After carefully following directions, I tried to clean the screen of the television. After multiple attempts, I now have a completely streaked and smudged screen. Believe it or not, the screen is actually worse than before it was cleaned. I tried this on my 13" LCD laptop as well and got the same results. Not sure what the problem is, but I would definately not recommend this product. Beware, you will get extremely disappointing results. - Cleaner - Lcd - Monitor Cleaner'

Home Theater System - samsung, home theater system
I love the system once I figured out how to set it up. The instructions are not helpful, in fact, they describe the system operation opposite of reality. It's all about the wiring. The system comes with a Red/White RCA wire that merges to a 1/8" minijack. It also comes with a special HDMI wire with a mini HDMI on one side. The instructions say if you want the soundbar to be controlled by the TV remote (which is what I wanted) then you need to use a fiber optic cable (not provided). So I bought one for $17 and plugged it in. The sound bar worked but not as described. The TV did not control the soundbar. For grins I decided to plug in the HDMI cable they provided even though the manual said the TV would not control the soundbar in such a configuration. But exactly where to plug it in was another ordeal in itself. The HDMI cable goes in the "ARC" HDMI port on the TV. I didn't even know I had one...but I did. Neither the TV manual nor the soundbar manual provided much detail on what ARC is or how it works. I thought of the HDMI ports as input only. Turns out the HDMI #2 is also the ARC port (Audio Return Channel). I plugged the soundbar into the ARC HDMI port on my 8000 series Samsung LED and turned it on and then the magic began! The TV's internal speaker automatically shut off and the TV remote controlled the soundbar. I decided to test the Samsung BLU-ray which was still plugged in the TV (not the soundbar). To my utter surprise, the TV volume control on the BLU-ray remote also controlled the soundbar.
Other reviewers said their Samsung TV could not control this soundbar. My TV is last year's 8000 series and it controls the soundbar just fine with the HDMI cable provided in the box.
The subwoofer just plugs in and self-connects wirelessly to the soundbar. Put it anywhere in the room.
My only unfulfilled expectation is that I thought a Samsung soundbar designed for a Samsung 46 inch flatscreen would attach to the TV rather than just sit on the table they both share.
I recommend this system for Samsung TVs with ARC HDMI ports. Samsung Electronics HW-D550 Home Theater System
I connected this to Samsung UN55D6400 (Via HDMI port #2 ARC connection).
I can now control the soundbar with the Samsung TV remote and vice versa.
The blue tooth Subwoofer connected automatically !
Comparing this soundbar + sub Vs TV speaker. The TV speaker has high MID but lacks in bass and depth.
So far i'm very satisfied !
This Samsung HW-D550 Home Theater System is a simple, yet amazing set of speakers that gets the job done. Our Samsung LED has a very weak single speaker that needs to be set to near "20" to get somewhat room-filling sound. The HW-D550 takes care of that problem and the speaker bar fits on our mantle perfectly! As I said, this is a simple system that works sufficiently to meet our needs; we were not looking for room-rumbling lows or multiple speakers located in every corner. We just wanted a fuller sound at lower volumes with a little bit of bass thrown in.
I am no audiophile but the sound is crisp and great. It has a beautiful black gloss finish and looks very stylish next to the led hdtv. The front buttons in the center are touch sensors so no mechanical buttons. It has one HDMI out for ARC, and 2 HDMI inputs, plus one analog and 2 optical. What more could u ask for! Its enough for my tv, pc, and game systems. I have no problems with it out of the box, it gets an A from me.
My "TV" is controlled by a new mac mini running Windows 7 media center. I've been using home theater PC's since 1998 when I got my first HDTV, so for the last 10 years I've just been using the best PC speakers I could find. I've gone through 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 systems, but always got fed up with the cables for the rear channels. So I finally gave up, and resigned myself to 2.1 for the last 6 or 8 years. My most recent speakers actually impressed me, the Logitech Z-2300's. Phenominal bass, good mids and highs, and no distortion. But the problem with that was that I've been using my TV as the input selector for my PS3, my Xbox 360, and the Wii. And the volume levels were drastically different between the game systems and the PC, so when I wanted to play a game, I'd have to remember to get up by the TV and turn down the analog volume control on the Logitechs otherwise the sound of any of the game systems starting up was enough to wake the dead.
So I've been looking at sound bars for while now, but never took the plunge because I knew I'd be giving up something... The subs aren't nearly as large as my Logitech Z-2300's, and the few times I'd seen sound bars, I was unimpressed. But I finally got tired of always having me or my 7 year old have to "point the volume to the left" to turn on a game and "point it to the TV" to go back to the Media Center input. So I started looking again, and since I'm so very impressed with my Samsung TV, I thought I'd give their sound bars a shot. I looked at this and the one that was a step down from this, but the little extra "oomph" on this model's subwoofer and the features decided me, and I spent a little more.
Package arrived the next morning ( overnighted it) in the actual package's box, not a normal brown box, so keep that in mind if you want to send this to someone as a surprise. Box was well packed with formed styrofoam to protect the pieces, although it was about 40% empty because the disparity in size between the sound bar and the subs - sound bar takes a little bit on the top long edge of the box, sub takes up a little on the short end, and the rest was just a spacer.
The sub had the peel away wrap on one side to protect the finish, and the sound bar had it on every surface except the speaker openings and the vents. So there's no chance of any damage or scratches unless something crushes or penetrates the box in shipping.
Setup is easy - two power plugs, and your input from the audio source to the bar. I started out with the normal L/R and 1/8" stereo plug, but found in the directions that if you use a digital Toslink connector, the unit will auto power on and off with the TV (or other source). So I ran out and got the Toslink.
Took me longer to pull the Z-2300's out than it did to get this hooked up and in place, but i started out my testing with this just sitting there in front of the other speakers, and the subwoofer in front of the TV stand.
First thing - the looks... MUCH nicer now than it was with the Logitechs, although they looked good for computer speakers. Another benefit was that since I had the Kinect for the Xbox 360 sitting on the surface in front of the TV, this forced me to mount it on top of the TV, which I was actually able to do for free with a small pill container and some double sided sticky tape - I just taped the cylinder to the top of the TV behind the bezel, and now the kinect rests on the top edge of the TV and that container, perfectly level and stable... With that gone, the speakers gone, and the little controller pod for the speakers gone, I now have a MUCH cleaner looking TV stand. I'm still kind of split between the open speaker look vs. grills, but these are starting to grow on me because they're very well finished, so it doesn't look like normal speakers would when visible.
I fired up a Star Wars movie and started playing with the settings. Immediately I noticed the good mids and highs, but it was far too upper frequency heavy. The default 0 setting for the subs is nearly nonexistent, and the range only goes from -6 through +6. I put it at +6, but it's still very underpowered compared to what I was used to. The movie still only sounded OK at the low end, and playing with the settings helped some, but not much. Then I hit myself in the head because I realized the sub was just sitting in front of the TV unit, so I wasn't getting the same reflection and such from the walls in the corner that I did with the Logitech. So I located it in the corner behind the TV (I have a rectangular stand for the TV in a corner, so I have that empty triangular space behind it for the subs and wires and such) right on top of the old Logitech one for testing, and that helped. SOME, not a lot, but it was enough to at least make it acceptable. It's still underpowered, though, and is the weak spot in this setup.
Working through the various sound settings such as cinema, news, sports, music, etc, garnered some changes, but the problem is the one that gives the best bass response also introduces a slight echo to the mids and highs, which is annoying when watching a movie and listening to dialog - like they're in a tunnel.
The 3D effects are also pretty negligible, but that may be due to the placement of my TV and the openness of my room - as I said, it's at an angle in a corner, so there's no side walls for it to hit and reflect anything off of, and the rear wall is only a partial wall that's open on top to the kitchen behind it, so I have no real back wall either. It may perform much better in a normal environment, but I have no way to test.
I use a Logitech Harmony One remote, and they had this in the database, so there was no learning needed to program my remote to do all the functions. I just chose TV and put in this sound bar model number, and it loaded it up. Works perfectly.
At lower volumes, things sound superb, far better than the logitech ones I loved for the last two or three years. Music especially was clearer and brighter. Once I tweaked my codec settings to not be the normal analog 2.0 stereo out, it helped some in the bass as well.
Movies sound good, but that bass lacking really is noticeable in some movies. But it's not as bad as it was when the sub was sitting in front of the TV. And I almost never crank movies loud anymore anyway due to the 7 year old that lives with me full time now, so at the volume levels I'm playing, it's satisfactory.
The ability to control the volume when switching to games more than makes up for the lack of bass to me, since that was such an annoyance. And the fact that it powers off with the TV (after a 20 minute lack of input, which I wish they'd allow the end user to adjust) is a bonus, since up till now, I simply left speakers on 24/7.
They're about 2 or 2.5 inches less on each side than my 46" Samsung TV, so it's a good look with these underneath it.
One announce though, if you're using the toslink connector, is there's no way to keep it "turned off" if you use the TV. I have a nice set of wireless headphones I use when my son is sleeping, and with the previous speakers, there was a headphone jack I could plug the base unit into which shut off the sound to the speakers and only sent it to the headphones. These have no such out, so I have to use another one of the audio outs on the TV to plug into the wireless base. But then it tries to send the signal to both. Powering off the sound bar works for a few seconds, till it powers back on again. So you need to remember to use the remote to turn off the "auto on" feature, or just unplug the toslink cable while using another source. Wish they had an out on these to help bypass the need to do either but at least it's a workaround.
If you're used to a "real" stereo system, this won't be a replacement, unless you're doing it for other reasons than just sound like I did. But for replacing PC speakers it's worthwhile. And if you're in a smaller area like an apartment or something and can't / don't crank it and get the bass to rattle pictures off the walls, this is a good choice. - Sound Bar - Home Theater Systems - Home Theater System - Samsung'

This undercoat rake is well-constructed and works well. I bought this for a fluffy cat, so my only wish for improvement is that there be a cat-sized one made.I tried the 'furminator' for $25-30 and it was awful. This is much better priced and works a great deal better.
The rotating teeth more easily through my cat's thick undercoat. It has some weight to it, so at least for a cat (and I'd think small dog) you have to be aware of the weight and not comb too hard. The teeth rattle when you use it, but my cat doesn't seem to mind at all. She loves being brushed by it (and ran away from the furminator). This is the only rake I have found works to remove the excess in her downy undercoat. Evolution W6110 Grooming Undercoat Rake with Rotating Teeth, Double Row
A professional dog trainer recommended this item to us, said it was a must-have. Well I have used this "rake" a few times now and I'm amazed each time I use it because it grabs SO MUCH hair! My german shepherd doesn't mind it either, the rake is very gentle; the key is to NOT press down and scrape at their skin, just gently pull it along thru the hair and it does what it says it will... grabs the undercoat and holds it till you remove it from the rake. It does not tangle or snag the hair in the tines. it's super-easy to comb with and remove hair from the rake. Definitely worth the money.
This is my second brush in two years... each time, after 12 months of frequent use (I have two large black labs) the handle just snaps off at the narrowest point under the diagonal rubber thumb rest and no I do not believe I am pressing too hard, I believe the material must get brittle with age/use/temperatures or something.
Removes hair very well... better than any other brush I have tried... and I have tried many, but kinda tiresome to have to buy a new one every 12 months.
Update 1/18/2010... I did break down and purchase another one (via amazon.com) because I just like it that much better than the other brushes we already had.
I have been trying for years to find a good grooming regimen for my Golden Retriever mix, who has a very thick double coat. This tool, combined with the Safari Large Self Cleaning Slicker Brush does the trick. I start with and run through with the rake to loosen the hair and then finish with this slicker brush.
So far the rake has held up well. Easy to hold and very kind to the dog. Beats the Furminator for really thick coats, and for the price I could buy at least two of these.
Would highly recommend to anyone who has a double coated breed, especially those with very thick coats. After using this tool with the slicker I had enough hair to make another small dog.
We love this brush and so does our Golden Retriever. He never allowed us to brush his tail before, but now he can't get enough of this brush. We like that this brush gently takes out the undercoat on our dog's legs and tail. And it looks like we actually had him groomed when we just brushed him for a few minutes. We used to be embarrassed walking him around the neighborhood because the previous brush we used just pulled his hair and didn't really groom his coat. Now he's the best looking Golden Retriever in the neighborhood! Thanks to everyone for your prior reviews. They really did help with our selection.
My poor Sheltie has been so abused when I tried to comb or brush him.
After getting this product, I was actually able to line-brush him for the first time. No screams or groans or attempts to run away.
I still don't quite grasp how it works but those rotating pins do not pull the hair like a regular rake or comb.
I highly recommend this product to anyone with a double-coated dog.
I really hesitated to order this because of the expense, but it seems to work very well. It is quite a weighty substantial tool and works great on our little Japanese Chin which sheds everywhere. Now I can confidently carry him around without getting hairs all over my clothes. Thank you.
Bought last week from amazon and got it this week. Since I just had my American Eskimo groomed last Sun, she doesn't ave much dead undercoat as before, I was still able to pull out a small amount of hair by lightly brushing on her coat. It ias advertised, does NOT pull her hair. She hates the furminator especially on her fur pants (hind legs) where she has the most shedding of hair, but with this one, she hardly notice I was doign anything and do not move so much.
Also the price at amazon is very very nice. I have seen in pet stores, similar product, not with rotating pins, single row rake for $23!! So this is a good buy, worth the price and get the hair out. I am hoping to enjoy all my black clothes with less of the white doggie hair on them from now on.
This is a very high-quality device and the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I think the description should be better. I wish I had this when I needed to comb out my horse's mane!
