Documentary - very good, documentary

This is definitely a niche documentary, if you are interested in some excellent interviews with people who work in the (straight) porn industry then I can't recommend it more.

However the casual viewer might be a bit offended at some of the parts, not in a visual, pornographic way, but just at the issues that plague the industry.

There are some rather raunchy scenes, but these are short and more underline the effect of the movie than any attempt to be pornographic in itself. 9to5: Days In Porn

The film was fairly good and even educational. The film covers some of the biggest names in the business and was well made. Hazards specific to the industry, how family and friends react to what they do for a living, the typical pay, their personal romantic lives, and what happens when people leave the industry were all covered. It was however a little too long for my tastes, almost too exhaustive. I found myself looking at my watch about an hour into it.

Although there was plenty of nudity and fair amount of sex, it was all within the context of the documentary so don't expect to see even a 10 second sex scene. And even the sex scenes shown generally have the film crew obscuring the action. I think the film would have been better had they moved a step or two closer to making this film porn.

This is a fairly poor video/wannabe-documentary. The "actors" sounded scripted, it did all it could to glorify the industry, and it did little to view into the downside. It got incredibly dark when it began to show how the women thought they were "pushing themselves to the limit", which was in reality only another disgusting display of how violent modern pornography has become, and how the women to some extent have been duped into thinking that the more that they humiliate themselves, the more liberated they are. I'm not against porn. But I am absolutely against porn that mirrors rape as some of the scenes in here do. The only redeeming quality was when the video highlighted the work of AIM and it's professionals to help those that are in need of their essential medical services.

What I learned from watching this documentary is that pornography is not at all real, nor glamorous, nor friendly to women, nor sexy, nor sensual, definitely NOT romantic and very, very sad and lonely. The porn actors were pathetic and depressing, they seemed lifeless. PORN IS NOT SEX, it's a warp manipulation and mutation of sex, wake up people! For those who are addicted, only JESUS CHRIST will take your desire for pornography away, seek Christ through prayer. - Very Good - Documentary'

There were easy instructions for putting them on, but I'm stupid when coming to putting them on. I wiped the screen one more time while the one side was one and then dust attached to the adhesive side. So that is my fault. They give you 3, not 2, so get it just in case you mess up like I did. 2x Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20 4GB 8GB Digital Video Camera Pocket Camcorder Premium Clear LCD Screen Protector, no cutting is required! Exact fit and satisfaction guaranteed!

The screen protector fits the Sony Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20 8GB perfectly with no annoying little bubbles. The instructions were thorough and easy to read. It helps that I've put on a screen protector once before. There are two screen protectors though in case the first one doesn't turn out like you would have hoped. It would be nice if a matte finish screen protector was also offered because your fingers don't glide across this surface as smoothly as a matte finish could provide.

TIP: If you still have the screen protector that comes on the Bloggie when it is new, I would recommend skipping the first instruction because you should not have any lint, dust, or smudges on your screen of any kind. So it is the best possible condition already in order to apply the new screen protector. Of course, if you don't have the original screen protector on the Bloggie, then follow the first step. A small lint free cloth is provided just for this purpose.

Easy to apply. Glossy finish so it looks like the touch screen itself. However, the plastic must be a little thicker than some other screen protectors. I have to press firmly for it to feel my touch through the protector. If you don't mind that, a good deal for the money.

Got the touch protectors and while nice to look at they are little hard (for me) to put on and there are what looks like air bubbles get trapped under the protectors and the little taps can be hard to remove, but still not a bad product. - Computer'

Wall Timer - programmable timer, aube

This switch is the Honeywell-labeled replacement for the Aube TI071/U. (Aube, a Canadian corporation, was purchased by Honeywell.) I own the Aube-by-Honeywell-labelled switch.

This is an easy install for a homeowner who is comfortable enough with electrical work to know why the wiring comes in different colors, and can identify which side of a circuit is "line" and which side is "load." Also, you must have a neutral (white) wire in the box where you are installing this, or the switch won't work.

The switch benefits from Aube's years of experience in designing programmable thermostats that are easy to use. The initial setup involves determining your local latitude and longitude, which can be determined from Aube's web site or from using Google Maps. (You only need the degrees [such as 45° N or 75°W], not the minutes or seconds, nor any decimals following the degrees.) The date, time, and location are entered, and your preferences regarding when you want to see the backlight, as well as whether your location is affected by daylight savings time. Once this information is entered, you can program up to eight sets of ON and OFF times.

The twist is in the "Solar Time Table" function. Entering latitude and longitude means that the switch calculates sunrise and sunset times for each day of the year, and those times are fairly accurate for your location. Therefore, you can set fixed on and off times for a program, or set ON and/or OFF to local sunset or sunrise. You can also adjust a time to be offset from sunset or sunrise, in ten-minute increments up to an hour either way. For my holiday lights, I want them to come on in the evening a half hour before sunset because our sunset comes earlier due to a ridge a mile west of our home. This switch allows that.

It is also possible to have the switch turn off the lights a stated number of times at random intervals for a set period (got all that?). This is touted as good for vacation periods, though I have not tried it.

In my experience, so-called "photo eyes" sometimes cause lights to come on during the day, or at times when they are not wanted. This switch will not let that happen.

It is remarkable that Aube/Honeywell built such a degree of flexibility into a small package like this. I think this product is very well thought out, and I recommend it. Honeywell Econoswitch RPLS740B 7-Day Solar Time Table Programmable Switch for Lights and Motors

The Honeywell RPLS740B has some key features I was looking for:

1. Compatible with compact fluorescent bulbs (this timer even works with electric motors).

2. Has the option of turning on or off at either a certain time or at dawn or dusk. It keeps track of the time of year so that it knows when dawn and dusk are.

3. Adjusts for daylight saving time automatically (although it may eventually be a few days off if they change the dates for daylight saving time again).

4. Keeps its programming and the correct time and date during power outages.

5. Has no batteries to wear out (more about this below).

These features let me set it up once and then leave it alone. Of course, it's easy to override it if needed. Just press the main button to turn the lights on or off. The timer will stay programmed and resume automatic operation when it is time to turn on or off automatically again.

Some of the literature on this product says that it has a backup battery to keep the programming set up and the clock running during power outages. At first, I was concerned that the timer might need to be replaced when the backup battery wears out. Even a rechargeable battery only lasts so long. I carefully opened the unit to see if the battery is user-replaceable. I was pleasantly surprised to see that instead of a battery, it has a 0.22-Farad super-capacitor. A super-capacitor substitutes for a battery, but for all practical purposes, doesn't wear out. I wish more electronic devices would use these.

As with any product that has a mountain of features, it takes a little time to read the instructions and set up the timer. However, the menu system is pretty logical, and was easy to catch onto once I had programmed a few settings. I don't even need the instructions now.

Since the timer has been installed for only a week, I can't really be sure about reliability yet. It appears to be well built, inside and out. So far, it works flawlessly and the time is staying accurate.

It is a little expensive, but it's the lowest-priced timer I could find that has the features I want and has good reviews about working reliably. Also, with the super-capacitor instead of a battery, there's no need to worry about battery replacement.

The timer came via Amazon Super-saver Shipping, and arrived ahead of schedule in just a few days.

Installation was easy (make sure you have a neutral [white] wire in the switch box). Programming was simple; once you know to push-and-hold the main button for three seconds to enter programming mode, you almost don't need the manual at all -- it's that easy and intuitive.

It lost a star because the screws it ships with were made out of very soft metal -- they stripped easily and if I ever need to remove the switch it will be a pain. But as it is right now, it looks great and works as advertised.

I ordered this when Amazon offered it for a special discounted price. I believe that the normal price of $45 is too high for the functionality that this offers. Like a lot of people, I would like an easy way to have my outdoor lights come on and off automatically. Normally the problem with timers is that the lights get turned on too early or too late at different times of year due to longer and shorter days, daylight savings time, etc.

This switch does solve that problem, allowing the user to have the lights come on and shut off at times related to sunset and sunrise. I programmed them to come on at 10 minutes after sundown and shut off at 11:30PM. The nice thing is I no longer have to remember to turn the lights on or off. You can also turn them on and off manually, which is good. There is a chart included with latitudes and longitudes of different US and Canadian cities, you can also quickly look your specific coordinates up on the internet.

The screen on the unit is actually tastefully done, and does not look out of place in the wall box next to another decora switch.

So why four stars instead of five? I have just a few nits with this product worth mentioning.

The size of the switch is quite large, and as you will have to retrieve the neutral wires in your outlet box (typically it's a bundle of white wires tied together with a wire nut) it is quite a tight fit. It does not help that the wire leads from the box are a little on the short side.

Second issue is that when the box is "on" and providing lighting functions there is an extremely bright blue LED in the lower right corner that is lit. This light is so bright that it's a bit obnoxious. The screen itself can be dimmed up or down with three settings but the blue LED is always lit when the lights are on.

Third issue is that the mounting screws that come with the box are garbage. I had to uninstall the box once and repack the wiring and the screws were already stripped with just the use of a high quality flat bladed screwdriver. Forget about using a power screwdriver. I ended up pulling the screws from a $2 outlet switch, they were much better. Considering the premium price it would not kill them to provide better install hardware.

All in all though this is a great product. It even has a capacitor backup to preserve the programming during power outages. Very nice. - Programmable Timer - Aube - Aube By Honeywell - Wall Timer'

baitcasting rods - baitcasting rods

I fish primarily for flounder and this rod twitches when one swims near. I can feel the bait swimming normally and can even feel when it gets excited ... like when a doormat makes her approach. This is a great rod for an excellent price ... frankly, I paid a little more for mine. Try it. I am going to buy another one! Abu Garcia 1-Piece Vendetta Series Baitcast Rod, 6-Feet 6-Inch, Medium Heavy

Purchased the 7' Medium Action to pair with my new Abu Garcia Orra Inshore reel. They were made for each other, a match made in heaven! This rod was so sensitive, I felt all the terrain as I worked a jighead with a jerk bait along the bottom of the Galveston West Bay. Abu Garcia has regained my loyalty!

I bought my first 2 Vendettas last month and just ordered a 3rd and a Veritas. I ordered the Vendetta to replace a broken AllStar rod I used for flippin. I bought a Kistler Magnesium and a Skeet Reese Micro rod and did not like either of these rods. So, I thought I would try a Vendetta. I figured if I was disappointed, I wouldnt be out a fortune and I could give it to my son. Well, he aint gettin this one. I was really impressed. I fish for largemouth only and skull drug about 20 bass on my first trip with the Vendetta. Overall your not going to beat the value in these rods for the money. The only thing Im not a fan of is the aluminum Abu medallion on the end of the handle. I cant wait to get my hands on the Veritas. Good job ABU Garcia!

I purchased the 7'6" Heavy model. I slapped my baitcaster on, spooled my backing line, spooled my braid and went fishing. After 5 minutes on the water, I flipped a 3/8 oz jig into some brush and hooked up with a 1.5~ lb largemouth and the instant pressure was applied, the rod tip snapped off like it was made of crisp bacon. I have a 7' Medium spinning version of this rod and it worked great all of 2010 so I'm not just a hater. - Baitcasting Rods'

Comfort - ankle socks, comfort

Hanes is a great company. They make solid products and don't let you down with absurd prices. We all know that socks aren't gonna last, but it's nice to buy something with a bit more vitality. The reinforced heel and toe provide an excellent addition to an already solid sock. Contains spandex as well which provides a better fit.

My only gripe is that they're actually a bit smaller than most Hanes low-cuts that I have previously purchased. I think this is due to the spandex.

Another good product from a trustworthy brand. Hanes Classics Men's 6 pack cushion low cut, white, 6-12

I bought a couple bags of these when they were on sale at Amazon a month ago. I was very happy with the purchase- I've bought a fair number of low cut brands over the years, and the Hanes feel the most substantial. You won't get threadbare socks here folks- there's enough cotton, and cushion here to last awhile.

Hanes CUSHION LO-CUT - WHT W/GRY HEEL & TOE 188/6 Get ready for the summer with these.Great when your wearing your short pants with shoes and or sandals. The cushion feel is great and makes you feet feel so gooood//Much better than non-cushion that you can find just a little cheaper. These our well worth the little extra money.Great brand at a very good price.Make your feet feel good go buy these they;re great. - Socks - Athletic Socks - Comfort - Ankle Socks'

African Print - beach dress, tunics

This is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. It is a summer dress and a coverup for sure, but it can be dressy or extremely beachy casual. It is impossible to wrinkle and no matter how hot it is outside, when you get up out of your seat it is as dry and breezy as can be. It is soooo comfortable too. I could sleep in it if I had to! Everyone always asks me if I've lost weight when I wear it. I think it shaves about 10 pounds off. Can't praise it enough! I have the black and the brown. Speedo Women's Bondi Beach Tie Front Dress Cover-Up,Black,Large

I wasn't sure about ordering a cover-up off of Amazon, but could not be more pleased! The fit is flattering --loose, but still feminine with cute drawstring. I am 5'4, approx. 130 lbs and the small is perfect. Hits just past mid-thigh on me. Love it!

I bought an XL and it fits just fine, if a little close in the stomach (I wear a size 16/18).

Very comfortable and relaxing to sit by the beach in. It could go a little longer - it stops about four inches above my knees, and I'd prefer it at knee-length - but it's fine as is and even better with something wrapped around my waist.

Could wear as a casual long shirt if you wanted.

I ordered this in Medium, which is my normal sizing in most other brands. It turned out to be looser than I thought but the tie-front made it somewhat adjustable. The fabric was breathable and easy to wash. I also felt that it was appropriate to wear over my bathing suit while out and about in town. It is reasonably priced for a versatile "cover-up" that also serves as a sundress. Highly recommend this product.

Every year I have trouble finding a bathing suit cover-up that actually covers. This one is just right. I can even run into the grocery store for a last minute item on the way home from the pool wearing this cover-up. Awesome!

I bought this dress as a cover up for over my bikini on holiday and I just love it. So much, in fact, that I just ordered another for myself as a spare and one for my sister too. The material is beautifully soft and the cut is very flattering - I'm a US size 8 (UK/AU 12-14) and the large fit me perfectly. It doubles as a great casual dress for going shopping, etc, too - it's a little low-cut (which is fine for over swimwear) but that's easily fixed by wearing a singlet underneath when going out and about. It looks good over jeans too - very happy!!

This is the perfect cover up for hiding that belly/hips/whatever. I also wore it over my jeans and it made the perfect outfit for happy hour for cocktails at restaurants along the shore. Beachy but not "old lady" cover up.

Bought this one from Amazon and 2 others from Nordstrom's for 3 times the price and liked this one the best. Very flattering fit, good quality for the price. Others went back to the store and this was the keeper.

I bought this as a coverup and ended up wearing as a dress too! It is GREAT! extremely flattering!! Even on a new mommy body.. my baby was just 9wks old so I'm still having a little belly but this glides rich over it!

The ties are a bit long and came undone a few times BUT that's ok since they allow you to finch it up.under your breasts and create a better silhouette.

I'm 5ft 9inches with a 34inseam and this dress was still long enough. It came maybe mid to.lower thighs but not too short. The top is low but worked great with a tank or sports bra under it. I'm nursing a baby and the fabric was PERFECT since I could easily pull it out of the way and it still.kept it's shape! I'm thinking of buying another just to make sure I always have one.

It says to lay out to dry or dry on low but I put with a regular load and dried on medium just fine. - African Print - Swimwear - Tunics - Beach Dress'

Unlocked - motorola, razr v3

This phone was obviously refurbished -- it's parts aren't flush, so pieces of the back cover stick up and out of place, it's charger port is missing the cover and is exposed when not in use, and the reception is AWFUL -- even when I have three bars (in some places), the phone still won't pick up reception... The car charger that came with the phone doesn't work, and the home charger, which is equipped for EUROPEAN outlets, fell apart the very first time I tried to use it (there was a US adapter). I would have gladly returned this phone, but was willing to put up with the other flaws and didn't discover the broken car charger until a week after I had thrown the electrically hazardous home charger away! Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Camera and Video Player--International Version with Warranty (Black)

Unable to charge phone - out of box failure. Sadly as the phone came with a partially charged battery I thought I had received a working phone until the Amazon return period had expired. Tried getting a new battery at Batteries Plus, this worked until the new battery also ran out of charge. Had to buy another phone, basically wasted my money on this one. Morale of the story - I will NEVER buy a phone online again...

I purchased a seriously defective Motorola razorphone, and it was

replaced with another defective phone which I will return today.

This one even had the "American Warranty". But I am still out $30

return shipping fees.

This phone sucks! I trusted Amazon and I regret it! Right away, the phone battery won't last a day with very limited talking. The Bluetooth doesn't work and the phone won't send or receive any photos either! I'm in the process of TRYING to return the phone!

DON'T BUY!!

As the title implies this is the best phone ever. I owned one several years back but unfortunately is went into the lake. I opted at the time for a new phone with all the bells and whistles. After several bad experiences with 3 different phones, I came back to the best phone ever Motorola RAZR V3. It's slim, light weight, has a long battery life and gets good reception.

The phone works as it should, and it came with some accessories I was not expecting including a ear piece and speaker for hands free talking. The charger is european and comes with an adaptor that sometimes loosens, so check it periodically. But the phone itself is great. I got it as an OLD ATT customer trying not to loose her plan.

First one I got appeared to be refurbished not new.

Second one I got had the battery completely died in 3 weeks.

No sure if it's a problem with the vendor or Amazon, but this source is definitely shady. I'll give it a 0 star if I could. - Razr V3 - Unlocked - Motorola - Razr'

Emergency Supplies

I love this backpack has some extra room - so you can add essential items for your family that aren't included. Overall - a really good start. I added a Swiss army knife, some gum and hard candy, pull ups (I have small kids), sanitary napkins, and a few other odds and ends to make this a more complete bag for our family.

I used this as a start, then created my own bag (we have five in our family). I would feel very safe with just the contents that came in the bag though. The things I added were just "extras" that were important to me.

If you don't have a 72 hour kit - go ahead and purchase this one. It will get you at least moderately prepared and you can build from there. The bag is small, so it will easily fit in almost any trunk and I "think" would probably even fit in a motorcycle carrier. So, just like jumper cables should be in every trunk, this would be an easy way to be a little more safe. The food products and water are good for five years, so you don't have to think about it and rotate things out every six months as you would with something like bottled water. Quakehold! 70280 Grab-'n-Go Emergency Kit, 2-Person, 3-Day Backpack

This kit has almost everything you need for an emergency. It is compact, and easy to take with you. I only needed to add an emergency radio, flashlight and some batteries. It is a time saver also. It is easier than trying to gather all the products that are included in it. A real bargain!

Hello

I highly recommend this Grab and Go pack, just to have in the car or home in case of emergency. My comment about the size notwithstanding, it has everything to get me by for a few days should something nasty happen. I have supplemented it with my own first aid and fire starting additions, and it should prove handy if I ever need it.

This product makes no false statements. You get what it says. It is very much only for an emergency. The bag is small enough to make it a daily travler in any car. The first aid kit is just enough for basic cuts and such. The bag has about a 4" by 4" section to keep additional items like a multi-tool and flashlight. Do not expect a large bag for "survial" equipment, it is a basic emergency kit.

I purchased this as kind of a starter kit, and while it helps to give you an idea of some useful things to put together, it really falls short in delivering several of them. What I found was that it had the cheapest possible versions of everything it was providing. After getting this and looking what was in it, I pretty much started from scratch with a new bag (the one that came with the kit has a single stitch that was already failing when I first opened it with a 3-inch tear by the zipper).

For ~$40, you get a good starter kit, though:

Emergency food bars

Water

Emergency Blankets

VERY basic first aid kit

Light sticks

Dust masks

Nitrile gloves

Whistle

Ponchos

Tissue

My problems are as follows:

The backpack was falling apart from the get-go.

The first aid kit was too basic to be very useful (it's the kind that you might toss in your back pocket for daily carry).

The emergency blankets are pretty standard and cheap to buy.

The 12-hour light sticks are easily and cheaply upgraded to the 200hr LED glow sticks for $5 per 3-pack at Home Depot.

Dust masks can be had at the dollar store.

Gloves are really cheap (the ones that came in my kit were replaced immediately as they were just too cheap to rely on).

The whistle is just a whistle.

Ponchos are pretty standard and cheap to buy.

Tissue could be replaced with a ziplock bag of tissues and be just as effective.

If you're looking to build a cheap emergency kit, look at the individual contents of this and decide what you need. If I were ever to rely on this, I would be a bit afraid. That said, after buying this I had a lot of fun rebuilding it with an "I can get better" attitude and ended up spending quite a bit more buying "better" versions of its contents and filling some gaps. $40 isn't too bad a price to get at least part way there, but I can't see why they even bothered with such a low quality backpack to hold it all, as I'm pretty sure I use higher quality grocery bags.

I order "Quakehold! 70280 Grab-n-Go Emergency Kit" for $45 but then also ordered "Deluxe 2-Person by SurvivalKitsOnline Perfect Survival Kit for Emergency Disaster Preparedness" for $99 and you get so much more with that puppy. The Quakehold pack is 1/4 the size and full. The SurvivalKitsOnline pack is larger with way more pockets and has room for other items to be added. I stuffed the Quake items into the SurvivalKitsOnline pack. Also added a knife sharpenter and military compass, 5-in-1 shovel, bowie knife, 150 feet of rope and cord, all-weather gloves, plus more to be added. It still has room. Sure the pack tops around 40+ #'s but you have everything in it. Prepare your bug-out kit bB4 you need it people!!

This is great for an emergency, the pack has the vital things like water food bars. enough for three days

I think this pack is a great starting point. I think it would be good to create your own grab and go. I put things in there that are not included in this pack. plus I bought my own back pack which is far larger.

This pack is small. Some of the items in my larger pack quality compass paracord leatherman 300 multi tool waterproof matches. magnifying glass. water treatment tablets extra emergency blankets flint starter. A small hammer

Extra bandages, I am not finished with this yet, but you get the idea things you may not be able to do without

in any emergency situation. I do recomend the quake kit!!!But also make your own you can never be over prepared.

This kit has a bunch of good stuff that would have taken me weeks to find, buy and figure out and probably cost me a whole lot more. I like the convenience and mix of products. I added some personal stuff to the kit and put it in my car. With all the threats of attack, earthquakes, fires and floods, I don't think you can ever be too prepared! The only thing I added were goggles because I remember the people from 9-11 trying to escape with all the dust in their eyes.'

Action Adventure - war, thriller

It is exciting that this, a first novel, is doing so well and garning excellent reviews. It is historically accurate and revealing of little known WWII events. It seems to me that the plot as it developes, with the excitement of the settings, and the likability of and interest in the characters, would translate very well to a very colorful movie or TV special. Events like these did change the course of WWII and this book brings their importance to a wider audience. I do recommend this book to younger readers; it is hard to find exciting stories with the ring of truth that are suitable for middle and high school readers. That does not mean that adults can not share the book's most enjoyable reading! Footsteps to Forever: A World War II Thriller

Sam Baty's knowledge of WWII events, personalities, and locations makes this a pleasurable way to learn about that era of our history. It's an easy-to-read book combining love stories and wartime adventures set throughout the different parts of the world affected by WWII. You could feel the divisiveness over participation in the Third Reich activities even within the German army itself. You will learn about behind-the-scenes conflicts and negotiations that led up to some of the major confrontations of the war intertwined with the tales of the fictional characters who were impacted by them.

You are not bogged down in details, and the story moves quickly throughout the entire WWII era. If you want a book that ties up all the loose ends at the finish and is a complete stand-alone story on its own, you might be disappointed. It's pretty obvious that Baty has a sequel in mind because you are left with too many "What happened to...?" questions at the conclusion of the book. It's like a movie that has you captivated about what comes next when the ending credits start rolling and you find yourself screaming at the screen, "What??? That's IT???" So if the story grips you and there is a sequel, you'll have no choice but to get it, too. So it goes. It worked for J.K. Rowling.

Sam Baty does a masterful job in bringing several issues to the fore front in "Footsteps to Forever". To begin with, can one's conscience get in the way of making proper decisions? Or when, might you ask, is the price of a mission too high? Can one look beyond the obvious and see the good in humanity? These and other issues are inner woven throughout the novel. Instead of putting forth preconceived answers, the author graciously restrains himself and allows the reader to answer these and many more questions for himself.

Just how close to completion was the secret heavy water project? One can only speculate on what awaited us had the Germans successfully completed it. In conclusion one might sit back and ponder the sacrifices made by these individuals, and many more, to secure our freedom.

When you begin to read "Footsteps to Forever" be prepared not to close the book. The author does a magnificent job in keeping your interest peaked at every turn.

I thoroughly enjoyed Footsteps to Forever. The characters were engaging. Since I'm not a WWII buff, the background could have lost me, but I found the story easy to follow, informative, and entertaining. I'm looking forward to Part II to see what adventures await Jennifer next.

Footsteps to Forever: A World War II Thriller

A great read with a delightful and satisfying plot. This World War II story intertwines intrigue, history and a love story in a very easy to read novel. The historical setting is well researched. I hope that there is a sequel.

I fully concur with the previous posts, that this novel is a very entertaining and easy to read novel.

It was enjoyable, exciting and easy to follow, which makes it a great book for any age. The author showed great talent in combining many historical events, people and locations of the WWII era with and interesting and exciting storyline.

The characters are interesting and have lots of personality. I am looking forward to a potential sequel!?

This is one of the best novels I have read in awhile. I would have liked to have finished the book knowing what happen to the rest of Otto's family. That is the only negative I have and it is minor! It was refreshing to read the kindle version that did not have any formatting, etc issues that so often makes some ebooks hard or impossible to read. Looking forward to the next book!!!!!!!!

I am ashamed to say I had no idea the main plot point of this book happened during WWII. But as I read, I kept telling myself, "Of COURSE!" This is Sam Baty's first novel. Now, it isn't perfect and it isn't "War and Peace" or "Tale of Two Cities." However, it IS a good read and worth your time. I'm already running through it a second time, and I haven't even had it a year, yet.

A friend bought this book for WWII Vet family members for Christmas last year. They were very happy with it. And the book isn't just "for the guys." We ladies like it, too. I purchased a copy for an aunt who lived through WWII in the States as a teenager. She was very appreciative of the insider's view. Now if there were just a sequel so we could find out what happens with Otto :-> Come on Sam, are you listening?

By the way, for book collectors such as myself, I was happy to find a hardback is available. I don't see it here on Amazon, but if I'm simply missing something, order it here. Otherwise, you can order at [...]

Sam Baty has found the knack of personalizing a major historical event, WWII. We watch the impact of the war on both combatants and civilians, both Allies and Axis, people we can understand because their reactions to major events are similar to our own. A good book, fun to read, as I'm confident its sequel will be (when it appears). It's my second Kindle but not my last. - World War Ii - War - Action Adventure - Thriller'

Childrens Games - fun, childrens games

I had MathDice, the edition for older kids already and got this for you youngest recently, to keep her brain active and developing over the summer, now that school is out.

To play this game, you roll the odd sided die to reveal a number, then roll the regular dice to give you a set of numbers with which you have to make the first number. Harder than it seems. You can only use multiplication, addition, division and subtraction to achieve this goal, and only making integers.

The dice are really chunky and colorful, so the kids love them. My youngest loves that she has her own version of her sister's game. It makes her feel grown up! :P

This game comes with a little bag to store the dice. It's small, cheap, and a great way to get kids to practice math with out it being dull! Every parent should buy this game for their kids! ThinkFun Math Dice Jr.

One challenge that we always seem to face when starting a new school year is refreshing the kids' memories. The lazy days of summer always cause them to forget a few keys bits of information. To help ease us back in to the school year, I start a month before having them play fun educational games that reinforce those key skills they will need to start the school year.

ThinkFun recently released a new game that is perfect for this and also for use throughout the school year as well to reinforce basic addition and subtraction concepts. It's called Math Dice Jr., and it's very inexpensive. Math Dice Jr. comes complete with a 12-sided Target Die, 5 6-sided Scoring Dice (brightly colored and chunky for smaller hands), a flexible Scoring Track, and a handy dandy pouch to store it all in. It's small and easy to store or take on the go. Gameplay is fairly simple...

Roll the 12-sided Target Die to obtain your target number, then roll the five 6-sided Scoring Dice. Using addition and/or subtraction, combine the Scoring Dice to match the target number, moving one space on the track for every Scoring Die used. The first player to reach the finish line on the scoring track wins!

Math Dice Jr. grows with your child! It not only feature a shorter track for less experienced students, but also allows your child to acquire the target number with simple addition and subtraction using two numbers, or by using a combination of addition and subtraction. For instance, if the player rolls a 7 on the Target Die, and then rolls a 4, 5, 1, 3, and 2 on the five Scoring Die, he/she could use the following problems to reach the number 7 - 3+4, 5-2, 4+5-2, 5+3-1, 2+1+4, and so on. It can get complicated but only if the child chooses to make it that way. You'd be amazed the combinations they come up with to get those extra spaces or leave less dice remaining for their competitors!

My only complaint is that the game markers used to move along the board are not included, but they do offer printable ones on their website, as well as a printable Scoring Track, too. One of my favorite things about Math Dice Jr. is that all the pieces except for the 12-sided die are easily replaced if lost. The large chunky dice can be replaced by normal game dice, and with the printable options offered on the ThinkFun website you don't have to worry about not being able to play! Find this and more fun educational games at [...].

**I received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review.

My kids love putting together number combinations. It's fun and totally educational. And I can throw it in my bag and take it anywhere, so if we have a few minutes sitting around we can play a math game on the go! If you think you'll like this, check out Story Cubes too!

Similar praises to previous reviews. Portability, a fun way to learn math, etc.

The biggest selling point for us is that it is a simple game that the whole family can play and not get bored quickly. Many children's games get pretty boring fast for the adult/parent that is usually a player with the children. The logic and strategy involved kept me interested and wanting to play as much as my daughter (age 6). Our little one (age 2) is curious and enjoys watching us in action. She likes to help roll the dice.

Great travel game too.

I love how much fun MathDice Jr is for the kids! They are learning, yet don't even notice because they are having so much fun! The dice are also larger, so there is no choking hazard, and they are colorful! The 12-sided die always gets them super interested because it is unusual. :) Students and teachers will love playing MathDice Jr anytime they have a few extra minutes of classtime! - Family Game - Fun - Games - Childrens Games'

brad paisley - brad paisley

Prime Cuts: Remind Me (with Carrie Underwood), Love Her Like She's Leaving (with Don Henley), Toothbrush

Over the years, many have attempted to give definition to country music. But no one has had the audacity to name their record "This is Country Music." Not until Brad Paisley. With such an overarching and dauntless title, Paisley has a lot to live up to. And over the course of these 15 tracks he rarely disappoints. If country music is defined as songs that deal with the issues of life, then these songs past muster. Just like his previous albums, Paisley rarely disappoints. On one hand, he continues to wax eloquence about his romantic felicity with great attention paid to details. Yet, on the other hand, he has the ability to keep things light and engaging with his wily take on some of life's keening observations. Watch especially for the ways of how Paisley can take a cliché, a thought, a cultural trend or an urban myth and turn them around into a song of fun and even of acute inspiration. And just like his previous 9 albums, producer Frank Rogers is again on the helm keeping the production lean and lanky, yet bringing out the consummate guitarist in Paisley is supernal ways.

One reason why Paisley excels as a songwriter is that he doesn't resign himself to singing the vanilla "I love you and I need you" songs. Rather, when he describes about the need to keep his connubial bliss alive, he does it by giving us so many practical ways in the power duet with Carrie Underwood "Remind Me." Expanding his scope of duet partners to Don Henley, on "Love Her Like She's Living" Paisley sits on the Dr. Love seat in diagnosing how to make love last. While on the Western swing-styled "Toothbrush" Paisley chronicles the development of a love affair with so much imagination and creativity. Calling to mind Paisley's "Little Things," "New Favorite Memory" is gorgeously romantic as Paisley gets into specifics why he likes his paramour. These are the details that will save floundering relationships. Adorned with some really appetizing fiddles and some sapid steel guitars, the regretful "I Do Now" is indeed a slice of traditional country done with modern sensibilities.

Though Paisley has often been noted for the humor in his music, but often they are jocular because they are social burlesques. "Working on a Tan," for instance, is a satire of how people have become so obsessed with their bodies that they would go to the extremes to look "tanned." With the call and response chorus and some delightful piano riffs, "Camouflage" deals with the issue of self image amidst its party sonic backings. On the spiritual invigorating "A Man Don't Have to Die," Paisley puts his finger on our society's problem: how our souls erode without Jesus. This is soul piercing stuff done in a way that is engaging without sounding judgmental. And on certain tracks, Paisley just lets loose. Though it has some really cheesy pick up lines (such as "I love to be the book on your chest"), Paisley could get away with it on "Be the Lake" as it is such an infectious hook that he'll have no trouble getting his fish. Being a traditionalist, on "Eastwood" Paisley even convinces Clint Eastwood to do a whistle of a Morricone melody on a spaghetti Western instrumental.

There are a couple of odes to country music per sec. Not the most original in its concept, the title cut and lead single "This is Country Music" is stacked with many other songs that tries to give definition to the genre. It's not bad just not one of Paisley's best. The same can be said of "Old Alabama" which is a tribute of sorts to the country group Alabama. Other than these quibbles, "This is Country Music" is dogmatically as good and as bold as the title suggests. Another solid effort from this neo-traditionalist. This Is Country Music

Without a doubt, Brad Paisley IS the voice of country music in this decade. Every song on this album is phenomenal, and exemplifies the very core of the genre. I would be hard pressed to say that there is a single bad track in the bunch, indeed there are MANY single worthy numbers here. Camouflage, Remind Me, Love Her Like She's Leavin' and New Favorite Memory could easily be top 10 performers. This is country music at its finest.

I don't care for the new country music in general. It reminds me more of pop music from by-gone decades.

Brad Paisley is different. His music sounds a lot more like traditional country. He reminds me of a few country icons from the past that play guitar as well as they sing, something along the lines of Merle Haggard or Marty Stuart(who contributed on the last track).

The title track leads off an exceptionally strong cd. The song lyrics are something a lot of country fans can identify with personally. It winds down with Paisley listing some great song titles from country's past such as "I Walk The Line" and "Stand By Your Man" and more.

The guitar licks are well-played and flawless. This song is my favorite of many from Brad Paisley.

"Old Alabama" serves not only as a tribute to the band but also includes them performing. A very nice touch and a great song!

Another song that made an immediate impression was "Life's Railway To Heaven". It's a bluegrass song and I'm really happy that Paisley included a song from that category!

As always, he includes some "tongue-in-cheek" part humor, part love ballad tunes as only Brad Paisley can tastefully put them together."Toothbrush" and "Be The Lake" seem to fit the bill on this cd.

A gem on this cd that might get overlooked among the other songs that get a lot of airtime on country radio is "A Man Don't Have To Die." The gripping lyrics about everyday life for so many in these trying economic times make a sad point that Paisley didn't overlook.

"See a man don't have to die to go to hell.No you don't have to die to go to hell."

This cd is typical Brad Paisley featuring his versatile guitar skill on a Telecaster and his voice. I have come to expect those two qualities in his music and he never seems to disappoint those of us that really appreciate the traditional sounding country. This is my favorite Brad Paisley cd to date.

His lyrics are witty, sometimes funny, and always as entertaining as his guitar pickin'.

This cd is as versatile musically as the rest of his releases.

If you buy a cd from this year, it definitely should be this one!!! - Brad Paisley'

Epson Photo Paper - epson, photo quality paper

I like getting the best product (quality) for the $$. I have found there is a significant difference with the quality of my prints if I do NOT use Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy on my Epson Printer. My photos printed are frequently commented on by others for their quality of print. Others are shocked my photos are printed at home, on an inexpensive Epson Printer (Photo R280) using Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy Paper.

I do not know how this paper works on other printers. Glossy Ultra Premium Photo Paper, 50 Sheet, 8.5 X 11 Inches

I'm a photojournalist using the new Epson Glossy Ultra Premium Photo Paper in my Epson printer. Surface gloss and image reproduction appears nearly identical to the old version Premium Photo Paper--maybe a bit more neutral instead of cream color. The big improvement is that it uses a heavier paper stock: 79 lb vs. the old 68 lb. This gives a more solid, professional feel to your prints and photo business cards and less chance of texture bleed-though on mounted prints. Good stuff!

This Epson Photo Paper is heavy, as good photo paper should be. My photos come out looking great. A bit higher priced than average but you have to pay it to get paper heavy enough to feel like a photo that has been professionally developed. I do recommend it if paying more is not an issue. You will like the quality of the paper in spite of the cost. I have only bought it from Amazon so have no idea what it costs at other stores but I would say that you will find the lowest price for it at amazon since they usually are always the best place to find the lowest price available, especially if you have the "Prime" shipping. You do have to add in the shipping cost and that can sometimes add an outrageous amount when buying from an independent Seller.

Alphia Larkins

I took a chance and picked up a pack of this paper at my local Office Supply store--the price was a bit off-putting, but now I'm hooked. I use a dirt-cheap Brother MFC printer that is normally very touchy about what kind of paper it will take. No problems with this stuff though, it's thick enough to be a suitable print but not too the point of causing a paper jam. The best aspect, however, was that this stuff is incredibly art friendly. By and large I am printing digital paintings as opposed to photographs, and this paper seems remarkably good about being messed with once it's out of the printer. Cuts with two swipes of the xacto, mounts easily, and doesn't curl.

The only downside is the dry time. This paper comes out of your printer wet and smelly. While you don't really have to wait the recommended 24 hours, you'd better leave it alone for at least several, and be warned: even after 24 hours, it's not foolproof. Don't be in a hurry, and keep your fingers off this stuff. I've had prints smudge under my fingers even 48 hours after the fact. But matted and put into sleeves, or framed, it's fantastic and I've never had any issues with prints once they were safely nestled in the portfolio. Wonderful paper...if a bit smelly. :D

I am a serious photographer with many years of experience. In the past, I used HP Premium Plus Photo Paper most of the time. My printers are HP Deskjet and Dell P513 Inkjet. With both printers, with RGB, 400 dpi, and Leter size paper, this Epson paper is much better. The color is deeper and dries faster. The price is also comparable to Hp papers. The Amazon price is even chaper than HP papers I buy at local stores.

I liked to make notecards, usually two on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of matte paper, because I didn't think I could fold glossy paper without it cracking, and writing on the back side of the paper resulted in smears, no matter how long I waited for the ink to dry.

Today I discovered that this paper folds flawlessly and that I could write on it with an instant drying Sharpie Ultra Fine Point marker.

Of course, there is the small matter of the faint "Epson" printed on the back of the paper, but what I'm going to do for my notecards for Christmas is print the text on a smaller piece of paper and tack that to the inside of the card.

Although it's Epson paper I prefer using my Canon IP6700 printer - I get great color from it just by choosing Photo Paper Pro and in Photoshop "Printer Manages Colors". With my Epson R800 the prints are almost always too dark and I have to jump through hoops to make all sorts of settings. The Canon also prints way faster.

I bought first another brand with the same features, but they absolutely have nothing in common.

The Epson paper works perfectly for photo printing, while the other brand jammed and the results were not as good. - Photography - Professional - Epson - Photo Quality Paper'

School Supplies - liquid ink highlighters

The first time I bought liquid highlighters I was in college and was afraid to spend my money on them, but took a chance. I LOVED them! They were uni-Blazers by EF and, unfortunately, they aren't made any more (not that I can find anyway). I bought them in 1994 and still use them now in 2010! The ink never dried out. Admittedly, I didn't use them consistently all those years, but I did use them quite a bit when I did. The point is--just because it's a liquid highlighter doesn't mean it has to dry out or run out quickly! ... unlike these Sharpie Accents. I bought this pack because I really liked the other liquid ones and thought these looked nice. Unfortunately, I've been using the yellow one for only two weeks and the ink is half gone!! I thought perhaps the other reviewers were leaving the caps off while they read, but no, I faithfully put the cap back on immediately each time.

The other thing I really, really dislike about these is that when I use an index card to keep my underlining straight and then move the index card down a line it smears the ink! No other highlighters I've ever used have done this. This doesn't dry as fast as others do. It seems these put too much ink on the page, even thought they don't bleed through much--they do a little. I tried the other colors and they all behaved the same way.

Also, the cap is really hard to get on and off. There is a little plastic area in the cap that uses a spring to create a seal on the top of the marker. I'm guessing it's to keep it from drying out. But it makes it hard to get on and off, which makes it quite annoying to put the cap back on every time you use it.

These highlighters are very bright. You probably won't overlook a highlighted portion of text on a page. Sometimes, I feel it is too bright, but that's just a personal preference. If you like a very bright marker and don't mind it running out really quickly, these might be ok for you. They do look nice and don't feel too bad in the hand--I'm pretty picky that way.

So, I'm going to try another brand and give these to my daughter to play with till they finish running out. Sharpie Accent Liquid Pen-Style Highlighters, 5 Colored Highlighters(24575PP)

I love these! I don't know if they last longer or shorter than regular highlighters and don't care. I'm just happy they don't bleed through to the other side of the page. Very bright and easy to control how much space you want the highlighter to cover.

If you are paying sticker for these, they are an expensive set of highlighters. That said, they're also some of the best highlighters you can buy.

The amount of fluid in the pen is substantially less than it could potentially hold. I'd imagine ink is cheap, so the only reason for this is to reduce the lifespan of the product forcing you to buy more.

On the plus side, the pen highlights well, and consistently. The visible fluid reservoir allows you to see how much (or little) life the pen has left.

I'd purchase again, especially if on sale.

There's not too much else to say. I bought these on sale, and probably wouldn't pay full price for them. In my opinion, they were okay for less than a buck but I'd stick with non-liquid ones if I were repurchasing. These ones can definitely bleed a bit, and I felt that the blue was really too dark to even highlight things with.

These are the ONLY highlighters that I use. Sharpie has always been a quality brand and these highlighters are just a testimony of that. Each of the colors work well for me without being TOO bright or too heavy. I especially enjoy the clear tube because you can watch the ink level and it is easy to see which color you need. However, I do wish that the liquid ink was a bit more controlled and consistent. At times, even at the same level of pressure, the ink will flow a bit heavy. This does not happen often, in fact, it is pretty rare but, it still happens. With that being said, these highlighters, as usual, are a great buy.

These highlighters are on the more high end side I guess. I'd prefer to use the normal sharpie highlighters (I've always used those) but I saw these on sale for 75 cents and thought, "Why not?" My only issues with is that there's too much ink used sometimes - they take longer to dry than normal highlighters and some colors are too dark to use (like the blue).

I use a lot of highlighters, I even have different uses for different colors and shades. About 3 years ago I came across these highlighters in a retail store and didn't purchase them as they were more then I typically pay for highlighters and my normal highlighters worked fine. One week I decided to "splurge" and spend the extra 60 cents (or however much it was). I have found these to be far better then any other type of highlighter that I have tried. These work much better in every way. The lids do fit on tight, but A) I like that of any pen/marker and B) if they didn't and the cap came off in your pocket, you would probably need to replace that piece of clothing.

For the price I spent on the highlighter, I don't feel too horrible about purchasing. But it would definitely not be worth retail price.

Pros:

- Depending on what you prefer, might consider this a con. The cap capped on very tightly. Need to use a bit of strength to open and close the cap. I liked this because it prevents leakage. And you know for sure that you capped your highlighter.

- Didn't smudge.

- The chisel tip wasn't too large that it covered two lines of text when I only needed to highlight one line.

Cons:

- Runs out very quickly. I used one highlighter pen for two weeks of light-moderate highlighting, and it's gone already.

- The color that you see in the photograph of the highlighting liquid is all you get. The previous poster was accurate in the description. You literally get only an inch of highlighting liquid. The ink does not extend into the black label. (Reason for the highlighter running out so quickly) - Liquid Ink Highlighters'
