Cordless Stick Vacuum - dirt devil, cordless vacuum
I bought this Dec '09 after about two weeks of research on lightweight vacs. I needed one that could handle: LOTS of dog hair (retriever/spitz mix!), four kids, the usual kitchen crumbs, area rugs, hardwood floors, tile and very low nap carpeting (whew!). We also have a woodstove and frequently have small leaves and wood debris from the logs being brought in the house. In the past, I have tried Bissel Turbo Sweep (kept breaking) and the Shark (new version with one side brush; battery died after one year and brush roll got so full of hair that it was a pain to try to keep it clean). Tired of batteries dying or the vac dying!
A big problem with cordless vacs is that the battery will inevitably die out on you within a year because of "overcharging" it. I really liked that this vac has a "smart charger" that only charges the vac what it needs and then reduces the charge to a trickle so that the battery does not get overcharged. The charger base is about the size of a dustpan and holds the vac in place well, so you'll need a place on the floor that you can park it. Handle does fold down if that makes a difference in your storage options.
First, the "cons": plastic body feels a little flimsy; it is awkward (but doable) on steps; whole body of vac swivels and not just the nozzle when you pivot it and takes a little getting used to; handle is NOT ergonomic and vac starts to feel hand "heavy" after a while (I can still use the vac with just my forefinger wrapped around the end of the handle and that helps). Also, if you are vacuuming a very dirty rug, the dirt cup will fill quickly and will lose suction.
Now the "pros": this vac REALLY picks stuff up! I am AMAZED at the amount of dog hair, crumbs, etc this thing will pull in! (Good-bye, doggie tumbleweeds!) Great for kitchen; scatter rugs get clean without being sucked up into the vac; great on tile, hardwood and low nap carpets. I also like the brushroll on/off feature so I can go from hardwood to carpet easily. Gets the edges clean too. The head of the vac is smaller than I thought, so if you can't get the edges clean going alongside it, I can get it clean coming straight at the edge. Now things like dog food and air soft pellets (two boys) will rattle around if you vac them up, so I usually end up emptying the dirt cup if that happens. Noise is moderate; it is, after all, a vacuum. Noise increases a bit if dirt cup gets full. Fully charged initially in under six hours, and again, place it back in its charger base and it will charge only what it needs (charging light goes out when vac is fully charged again). Have not used it enough to wear out the battery charge as I try to keep it's continual use under 10 minutes. It has a two year warranty on it, which I think is above average. After I vac my den carpet, and after about every other use on regular floors, I use my big vac to really clean the filter and filter screen as that is a key to getting good suction with these type of vacs. This thing picks up so much dog hair and dirt that I usally have to empty the dirt cup out at least once when I use it on my den rug, but not having to lug my 21- pound sears vac around is worth it. If the dirt cup was larger, it would be near perfect! I currently use Swiffer sweeper pole for my hardwoods and it looks like this vac will pay for itself within six months of not having to buy those refills all the time! So, I guess the only thing left to find out now is how long this will last!
PS: The dirt cup release button looks like you depress it downward, but actually you have to press upwards on it or you might break it! Also, on deeply patterned area rugs, it does not do a good job; but again for scatter rugs and everything else I mentioned, it does. Hope this helps! Dirt Devil Accucharge 15.6 Volt Cordless Bagless Stick Vac with ENERGY STAR Battery Charger, BD20035RED
bought this on amazon to replace my order one... the older one worked great until.. I broke it.... I slammed it against something hard and it broke completely.. don't ask me why... but that happened and I had to replace it with a new one..
CONS
-the suction isn't the best...
user has to hold the vacuum at a specific angle for the suction to be perfect..
-only good for small waste and dust... bigger waste tend to stuck and the user has to dig it out with fingers...
PROS
-the charge time is very short
-does not take any room so for people who care about the interior look - this will look fine and sometimes unnoticeable if you put it right beside a little table or in the corner.
-easy grip and easy usage
-for students and for people with apts (studios to 1 bedroom) this is a very good vacuum !!!
for me Iuse it almost everyday to clean out everyday dust and my dog's fur off the floor, and it's a very good product for what I've paid.
OVERALL this is a decent vacuum!!
This vacuum is perfect for what it is. I like the fact that the Accucharge won't drain the battery like what happened on my Dustbuster. This does need pretty frequent cleaning to keep up the suction, although that's not difficult at all. The Dirt Devil makes a very loud, high pitched noise, especially if it's not 100% clean, but I can totally live with that. It's been so nice to have this to clean up after our shedding dog and dirt from our kid's feet. The rotating brush does help picking up dirt from our carpet. We use this vacuum almost daily.
I have all hardwood and tile flooring in the lower level of my house. I just moved from an all carpet house. It was hard to find a stick vac because every single vac with ratings all had several one and two star ratings, I could not find the "perfect" stick vac like I can many other products I buy on here. I went with this because I have had a dirt devil up right vacuum and it was just fantastic, and so I trusted the name. I have never used this vacuum longer than 15 minutes at a time, I usually only vacuum one or two rooms at a time. I have left it off the charger once and know it gets quieter when it is dying, but I leave it on the charger all day and use it all day and it never starts to lose power. This thing does not lose suction either. We have a german shephard that sheds all the time and a 2 year old who leaves a trail of crumbs wherever he goes. We also have a very dry grassy backyard that brings in tons of debris. THERE IS NO NEED TO SWEEP WITH THIS VACUUM!!! I mean I still do every once in a while because it is ingrained in me, but unless you have insane build up in corners and crevices you won't need to sweep. The cup is so easy to empty, the filters (there are two. one fits in the other) are so easy to clean you just rinse them off and they do a very thorough job. It is small, lightweight, easy to manuever, gets under my furniture, and I have to empty it every 2 days. I absolutely love this thing. OH YEA and the brusher.... it will not do a good enough job to vacuum your carpeted floors, BUT I have rugs by the door to wipe the yard debris on, and the brush bar has so far been completely adequate at cleaning it, I have been in my house for 2 weeks and have yet to get the real vacuum on the rug, or to take it out side and shake and beat it. I also use the brush bar on my couch and it works great as well. - Hardwood Floor Vacuum - Cordless Vacuum - Dirt Devil - Stick Vac'

Worked really well for me with little to no effort. I just cast it and reeled it in boucning it on the bottom. Boom! Fish after fish! Mighty Bite Fishing Lures Complete Basic Kit

Toro Power Shovel - snow blower, snow thrower
Just bought the model SJ621 (Same as the SJ620 except it has a halogen light at the front) at a big box club store. I wanted the unit with the light and Amazon doesn't seem to carry the SJ621, so I'll review the mechanicals of the SJ621 which are identical to the SJ620.
First used this little fellow earlier this week, and wouldn't you know it, we had our first snowfall last night...about 6" of wet, early season snow.
The Snow Joe did OK in clearing our driveway. It is a little small (18" width), which means you'll have to make more passes, and since it's electric, you might have to "double-pump" a bit, as in make a pass then make another one immediately afterwards.
Our snow was pretty wet, especially close to the driveway, so Little Snow Joe only threw it 10' at most, but using my head I was able to clear our 60x80' driveway in just under an hour. I'd imagine it will do better with drier snow.
Of course I had to go around after the Snow Joe with a shovel to clean up, but that's to be expected.
I wouldn't try wet snow any deeper than 6"...this morning I could tell this little guy was straining...this means any larger storms and you'll have to keep ahead of the snow in order to not overwhelm the Snow Joe. Note: see the 2/3/2011 update below for how this unit handled 20.2" of snow which was Chicago's third largest snowfall in recorded history...
I took the advice on the instructions and put some WD-40 on the pivot points of the chute and lever and it was easy to turn and aim.
Didn't need the light (again, only on the SJ621) 'cuz it's daytime, but after use I noticed it was covered in snow, so I'm guessing when I do use the light I'll have to keep brushing it off.
I used a 12GA 100' extension cord and this seemed to work fine.
All in all, much easier than shoveling by hand, and at this price, a very good deal.
UPDATE 12/20:
Well, this little guy just took care of another 5" of wet snow. In addition, the headlight came in very handy tonight as it helped me see where the extension cord was...even with a bright yellow cord, it's hard to see it when it's snowing hard and dark. Still very happy with the purchase.
Update: 2/3/2011: Well, I'll be darned...we just had 20 inches of snow, and the little Snow Joe handled it all, including a 4 foot drift across our driveway. Granted it didn't chomp the snow like a big gas blower, but I was able to completely clear our 30x60' driveway with the SJ621. To tackle the big drifts and areas taller than the SJ621 I had to "undercut" them by hitting them sideways, creating an overhanging corniche of snow, then this overhang would either fall on its own, or I would have to knock it down with a shovel, then I'd snow blow the fallen snow...
I ran it almost nonstop for three hours and it took everything I could throw at it.
I have to be honest...when I first wrote this review back in November 2010 I had no expectations that this little guy could handle anything more than a 6" storm, but I was wrong.
On a bad note, after finishing everything, I was using the Snow Joe to clean up some wind blown snow and it just stopped working. Suspecting a motor or impeller problem since I had just put the mechanicals through a big test, I unplugged it and looked around...nothing...so I plugged it back in...again nothing...so I pulled the plug out and saw that one of the two prongs on the Snow Joe's electrical connection had broken off into my extension cord...really odd since I had used the cord strain relief throughout the morning's snow blowing marathon and as far as I know never put any twisting torque or sideways stress on it...I have never seen this happen with any other electrical device...sent an email to Snow Joe to see about getting a replacement part, and unfortunately, after two days all I've gotten is a form reply....makes me feel a little less than confident that they're going to help me out. I will post back once things are either resolved or not.
Update 2/5/11: Spoke with Snow Joe on the phone today and they are sending me the parts and instructions to fix my unit. I expect to get these next week, and once installed, bring on the snow (again)!
Final update: 2/11/11: Snow Joe sent me repair parts, but they were for the 622 and not the 621. Looked almost identical. After an hour of getting the wiring fixed, realized the handle is not quite the right size...so I drill out my 621 and then the bolts fit. So I tighten everything and try the unit...nothing happens. Check all connections, still nothing. So I take the control box apart and realize the blade lugs on the new switch are slightly smaller than the old one, so the connection is intermittent. Toyed with the idea of soldering on new female blade connections, then thought: "Why am I going through all this - just get a new unit". Call Snow Joe and they say they won't have new units until next year, but might have refurbs in a couple weeks. They suggest I contact the Big Box retailer where I bought the unit. OK, did that, and will be getting a refund and now have to order a different unit.
After working so well, it's frustrating to have such a simple thing (the electrical connection to the unit) be its downfall. Reduced rating to 3 stars...could have been much better. Snow Joe SJ620 18-Inch 13.5-Amp Electric Snow Thrower
This is a great little snow blower! Bought it after reading several reviews from different sites and decided to try it. I am very glad I did. Amazon has one of the best prices on it and got it in 3 days! I was worried that it wouldn't cut thru the snow very well but others had said in their review they had no problems. Well it arrived today in the midst of another snow storm. It had already snowed 7 inches when it arrived! Got it out of the box and its super easy to put together...even your grandma could do it;)! Took it out and it cut thru the snow like it was butter! I even used it in some of the hard packed areas that had been shoveled and piled the last week and it handled it great! I love not having to worry about the maintance of a gas snow blower...you do have to get used to having the cord on there....but wasnt bad at all. I wouldn't hesitate to get this snow blower...WAY Better than shoveling! This is only Nov 30th and we've gotten 25 inches of snow already! Great Purchase! - Snowblower - Snow Thrower - Snow Blower - Electric Snow Thrower'

Custom Leathercraft - custom leathercraft, tool bag
I work in theater and trade shows. I like the bag and what it can hold. I dont care for what it cannot hold. It's pockets are very shallow, even though there are over sixty of them. Unless all of your tools are 4" long the bag wont hold it too snugly. Custom LeatherCraft 1132 75-Pocket Tool Backpack
All the pockets are great, but by the time I got all my drill bit containers in, there was no pocket big enough for my tape measure. Fully loaded it's really heavy. Probably won't be a problem for a man, but for an average sized woman it kills my back. I have to take my drill out to make it possible to carry it on site, at least I don't often have to use my drill, so no big deal. All in all, it's much better than having to carry 3 separate tool boxes.
This tool pack is perfect for technicians that need to have their hands free for climbing or whatever. It has many pockets and slots for nearly everything you'll need in the field, and if the slot isn't large enough, it's easy to cut out the stitching to customize it to fit you needs.
I am a marine electrician and have been using the tool backpacks since they've come out. The idea is great and there's room for most of my everyday hand tools but if I there was one thing I would change it would have to be the way the zippers and surrounding fabric is made. Over time once the bag breaks in the seems sag terribly and it puts so much strain on the zippers that they eventually begin to slip and seperate until you can't close them at all. Every one of my collegues owns one and will tell you the same thing. Once the zippers start missing, these backpacks are no longer dependable because you'll soon find tools missing that have fallen out. I understand this is good for CLC and Tool Pak because they'll sell more bags but when the inside of the bag still looks brand new I shouldn't be forced to repair or replace it due to a poor design on one very important part of the product. I'd love to see a better design in the future.
I hadseen this bag about 5 yrs ago but could not find it,I had looked everywhere including where the guy who had the one I had seen told me he bought it,which was at a Grainger store, but i could not find it,but now that i have it,I believe it is probably the single greatest investment I have gotten for my tool collection.I am an electrician in a union,IBEW Local 613 and probably my greatest gripe is having to dig through my whole tool bag or box,I have both,to find a tool, but with the backpack i no longer have that problem, everything is very organized and easy to get to,I truly enjoy my bag and I am constantly showing it off
I had read some questionable reviews on this bag but I really liked the idea of a tool backpack for my job so I gave it a try. As a previous reviewer said its only good for short tools and thats true theres lots of pockets for 4 inch tools. Anyway after about two months of full time use the one of the zippers gave out. The straps on this thing are the same as the ones found on a normal backpack used for school. Overall the construction is light duty and is not at all comparable to my other clc bag. I want to check out http://www.toolpak.com/ but I cant find enough info on it to determine if its any better.
Great idea, bad design. Although the pockets are neat and convenient, the back pack is uncomfortable. The weight of the drill and hardware case (when full) pulls the pack down and away from you. In addition, the shoulder straps are cheap and not well designed. It would help to have a chest strap to clip the two shoulder straps together like on the hiking packs. The pack is also too big and bulky. Back problems have occured. Im going back to my $40.00 NorthFace pack. Much more confy.
Nicely made, with plenty of storage, but if you fill all the wrench slots and load the various pockets with a full assortment of hand tools it weighs far too much to carry around, even without a power drill. I repair home appliances and found I have to leave out all but the items I use most often or I cant even lift it. So, with that in mind, I am working out how best to use it. It is well made, with strong stitching and tough material. Another issue is that when worn as a back back it slides off my shoulders, but that might be just me. Still not the "perfect" tool bag, I am going to keep looking I guess...
cons: won't zip shut if your drill is 14.4V or higher!! Compartments are too small. Unless you carry around a lot of small things, they are worthless. No labeling spots for little pockets: you will search a lot for your tape measure! Definitely gets heavy - the pack is too big. If you fill it, watch out. just OK construction, and for the amount of weight, this isnt good.
pros: the zippers seem good. the different layers move like turning pages, works nice. nice to keep hands free if your going up a lot of steps or a ladder -that part works.
I am a Communications Tech, and this back pack is awsome. I can have all the tools I could possibly need for any job all in one bag. Including my 18volt Drill. I just put it on my back and it leaves my hands free to carry all the other stuff I need, like boxes of wire. saves me trips back and forth to my truck. It is great. Although you may have to customise the pockets a little for some tools. This is the perfect tool bag! - Equipment - Tool Bags - Tool Bag - Custom Leathercraft'

I don't have room for big equipment like a treadmill. This is very compact and will hide well. It's also very sturdy, adjustable, and comes with a variety of exercise options. I was impressed at how heavy it is, so I don't expect it to fall apart anytime soon. Defintely a keeper for only 50 bucks! Jillian Michaels Ultimate 3-in-1 Aerobic Step
Overall, I think this is a good product. The step is sturdy but still easily comes apart for storage. The rocker board works as indicated and is a good addition to help improve balance and stability. My husband is an avid golfer and uses this as part of his routine for improving his swing. The resistance bands securely attach to the step but are slightly hard to adjust, especially if you're trying to do it quickly in between sets. The step came with an instructional video but it's just Jillian walking you through the different recommended exercises. I guess I thought it would include a full workout routine in addition to the basic instructions. You can download an 8-week workout routine as a .pdf from www.jillianmichaels.com but I would prefer to have an instructional DVD instead. Still, I think it's a good, quality step deck for the price and I use it about once a week.
This stepper is fine for just a stepper, but I bought it to use with Jillian's DVD workouts and this is not long enough to use for them! I wish I'd have purchased a differant brand. I use it anyway for the stepping she does, but when everyone else lays on theirs, I have to push it aside and do my excercises on the floor instead.
The step is great, the bands can be a little time consuming to adjust-if you're right in the middle of a video work out when you adjust them-but the tension seems good. I like the versatility of the board, the added balance board feature is nice. The video that comes with the step is only instructional. It is NOT a work out video.
This product was even better than I expected. It is sturdy, versitile, and allows you to do a large variety of exercises to spice up your work out. I use Jillian michaels workout videos and I like to use the step as well as the balance board to make the workout more challenging.
I absolutely love this 3 in 1 step. I am a personal trainer and use this step with my clients. I especially like how you can change it from a stepper into a balance board. I have not used it much with resistance bands yet. The only thing I would upgrade is the ability to order additional pieces to make the step higher. We are limited to only 8 inches with this step.
Arrived quickly - Very sturdy, easy to set up, take apart, transport and store. Nice roomy surface for safety whatever your age. I use it daily and get good aerobic exercise with it. Recommended variety of exercises printout nice. Definitely worth it!
I'm glad I chose this stepper. The price is great, it's big enough so I don't fall off and well made, not cheap or light.
I wish it came with a dvd that would go through sessions, I bought Gilads and that is great.
I was more impressed with the product when I received it than when I ordered it. It really is versatile and offers a lot of options for whatever level you are on or hope to achieve. I was a little disappointed with the DVD, but I went online and downloaded the FREE 8 week workout designed for this product and it has been kicking my butt ever since! Best purchase I've made in a long time! - Step Platform'

If you like any special features at all do not buy this version. They are doing the same thing as Avatar. This release gets a full price but absolutely zero special features. Not so much as a trailer. They will be putting out deluxe versions toward the end of the year including a 3D combo pack, blu ray combo pack & dvd. ALL will be packed & you will kick yourself for having to buy this a second time. Many people don't care about features but if you do consider yourself forewarned. And it's not like they're giving you a cut on the price for a "movie only" release. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
This version is being rushed out at the end of this month. Michael Bay has stated that a Bigger and Better 3D bluray version will be released later, with ALOT more extras than this edition. That version will be release on standard Blu as well, Looks like before the end of this year, just in time for the holidays.
While walking to the counter to PAY for this release, I turned it over to read what extras were included. NONE!!!!! Nothing!!!! I put it right back on the shelf. I am NOT paying full price for a bare-boned release! The greedy corporate thugs are counting on you to buy this, only to wave something a lot more enticing in front of your eyes when sales for this dwindle! Sick of these rip-off tactics!!! I have no sympathy for their loss of revenue from movie pirating! If they treated their customers with respect, perhaps the problem would not be so widespread!!!
Concerning BLU-RAY customers... DO NOT BUY THIS RELEASE. Warner Bros. have once again, screwed the fans/customers over... because they WILL release this in Blu-Ray 3D.... just like all their other past, and future, releases which had 3D Theatrical Releases.... but they'll wait until they feel enough non-3D versions have been sold (usually 3 to 6 months), before releasing a FULL/TRUE release of this movie.
--- THIS IS A PRODUCT REVIEW... NOT A MOVIE REVIEW ---
They've done this already with several other titles... and more are coming... like Harry Potter's finale for example... and there seems to be no end in sight to this nonsense.... so send them a message, and do not buy this INFERIOR release. Whether you already have 3D capability or not... it's just smarter business/financial sense, to buy the complete 3D COMBO-Pack when it's released... not only because it will only cost $2-$5 more than THIS release... but because it will LIKELY include a "Special 2-Disc (blu-ray) Edition", as they did with the previous 2 Transformers movies/releases (the 2nd disc being all or mostly all, HD bonus features, etc.).
=== This release not only does NOT contain 2 blu-ray discs (which means less special features &/or LESS HD QUALITY available if they tried to cram a lot of features onto just 1 disc, leaving less room for the highest possible quality-transfer of the movie)... but again, they don't even include the 3D version.... and if you think for one second, that they spent all that money churning out a 3D Theatrical Release, only to NOT release it in blu-ray 3D... well, you're a fool... and you should go ahead & buy THIS blu-ray/dvd combo-pack release, and stop reading.
I've rented this release from Netflix -- it arrives tomorrow -- I will rip it & hold on to my rip, until WB takes it's thumb out of it's collective behind, and releases this properly... just as I've done w/ all the other titles they've done this to. ___ Keep it up W.B., and I will stop seeing them in the Theater as well!
DOTM made it easy to forget 2009's ROTF. The "plot" was much improved, possibly because there was only ONE writer this time. Some of the best action sequences I have ever seen were in this movie. A great way to end the series, as well. If they made any more, I would hope it would be the military and Autobots working together to hunt down Decepticons, similar to how ROTF started out. Please take my advice: how good a movie is has nothing to do with the studio wanting to get consumers to buy the movie twice. If you disagree, then spam the studio with correspondence rather than deduct stars from your review. Try it this way next time: "DOTM was a fantastic action film, but I am disappointed the Blu-Ray release hardly has any extras. Otherwise, 5 STARS!!!!"
So I got home from work today and I asked my wife if she got the mail. She said she did and I got TF3 which I thought it was odd because it's suppose to come out tomorrow. Well lucky me, I have it a day early. I do have the Amazon Prime service which I shall now refer to the Amazon Optimus Prime service. And no I have not opened the case for fear the FBI are watching me. j/k
Booooo!Don't buy it because no special features are available but there will by by years end, so another clever studio scheme capitolizing on consumers! Yes, they probably factored per 1 million copies sold - 10 - 60 % will double dip generating a flow revenue for the impatient and believe me 90% of americans are IMPATIENT, so they know they have the rabbit by it's tail! Don't take the blue or red pill on this one!!! No rabbit holes running deep here, just peoples pockets that are succorred into buying the bare-boned Optimus...I hope this truly helps you out, seriously..
So there's this one part where the Autobots get in a ship to leave Earth at the demand of the Decepticons, to avoid a war. But as the ship is leaving, the Decepticons destroy it. Oh noes! The Decepticons destroy most of Chicago, killing a whole lot of people. But it turns out that the Autobots faked their death, they had never intended to leave! So all those deaths could have been prevented! They could have just fought the villains head-on! Wait...WTF?!*Ahem*...Okay, so Dark of the Moon is the best Michael Bay Transformers movie so far. The dialogue is a bit better; there's nothing like the mind-numbingly bad college scenes or the character Leo Spitz from Revenge of the Fallen. The acting is a bit better; instead of Megan Fox we have Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who's actually pretty okay (there's this one part where she says that Megatron is a certain other robot's biatch...to his face!), and Shaia Labeouf is over the top in a way that's kinda convincing and seems to make sense for the Sam Witwicky character. There are less shenanigans; the movie is focused on its plot, knows what it's about. The cinematography is good; I could actually understand what was happening in the action scenes and there were some pretty cool shots of the sundered world. The 3D is good; especially the parts with Shockwave. And Megan Fox isn't in it. So that's great and all, but here's a problem for you: I just didn't care. I mean I didn't care about anything that was going on in this movie. The Decepticons have yet another plan for world domination, and to beat them there's a lot of fighting to be done. Many Transformers die. But I didn't care about them, because they've never been able to develop personalities. Are you even keeping track of who these guys are? Starscream is never actually called by his name. Soundwave is in like, one scene. Say, was that Ratchet? I see grey parts flying in every direction, not the deaths of characters. One of the only Transformers I came to like was George Coe as Cue the Autobot scientist. The Human characters aren't any better, either. Some of the action sequences drag on and on. The falling skyscraper part comes to mind. Then there's the part where Sam fights Starscream. There's such an insane amount of flailing metal in that one, it's hard to believe that the squishy little Human is still alive. But there are sections with Shockwave and the tentacle thing and parts where Optimus is flying that were great. Combined with the 3D, it really felt like you were zooming through the air. By movie's end there has been so much destruction and so many Transformers have died that it's hard to see the series going on from here. The ending made me think "what was the point of all that?", as there's no set-up for a sequel. And nothing very special happend over the course of the film (like character development, closer to the series, etc.). Villains came, they saw, and they got their asses kicked. Yeah, it's hard to see the series going on, but it will. There's money to be made.

Leather Cover - leather case, leather cover
I'm in a good position to review this product, since I recently returned Kindle Leather Cover, Burgundy Red (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle). These two covers are very, very similar.
Similarities:
The form factor is nearly identical. The dimensions are the same, and closed they look nearly the same.
Both are pebbled leather with a (really nice) microfiber faux-suede interior.
Both close with a wrap-around elastic, which also serves to keep the cover in the folded-back position.
Differences:
The Amazon-branded Kindle cover attaches via a hinge system. This looks neater but didn't work out for me -- I have a toddler who likes to try and open it the wrong way around, which bends the hinges. The mCover attaches with molded (vinyl?) corner holders. This doesn't looks so nice -- mine are set into the case sort of crooked -- but is a winner as far as functionality goes. It's secure, doesn't interfere with use, and hard for a toddler to use as a means of destroying the case.
The mCover has a pocket on the inside cover; the Amazon cover does not. I don't care about this one way or the other. I'd slightly rather not have it.
On mine, at least, the elastic on the mCover is a good deal looser than the elastic on the Amazon cover was. The channel for the elastic is also wider (which is neither a plus or a minus -- it works fine.)
The Amazon cover comes in lots of cute colors. At the time of this writing, the mCover was only available in black, although cute colors are pictured.
Reservations:
Very few. I'm a little worried about the loose elastic. The corner molding overlaps the shift key by a tiny bit, but not enough to be a real problem. The crooked holders are a tad annoying.
Overall:
At the time of this writing, the mCover was less than a third the price of the Amazon cover. At the current price, it's a screaming bargain. At a somewhat higher price, it would still be a good value.
Since it was only available in black, for me buying it was a bit of a compromise of practicality over pleasure. If it's released in other colors, I can see myself buying one just for fun, especially if it maintains its current bargain price. mCover® Black Leather Folio Cover Cover Case for Amazon Kindle 3 (Fits 6" Display, built-in inner pocket)
I just got my new Kindle 3, and the mCover Leather case came the same day. I put the Kindle in it immediately, and haven't taken it out since! It is absolutely perfect for the K3 in every way. Just what I wanted in a case. The cover folds back flat and is easy to hold while reading. Fold the top back over the Kindle to protect it when not reading. And it has an attached elastic band to hold the front cover closed! The pieces that hold the kindle to the back of the cover are sized just right, holding the Kindle securely to the cover without obstructing any of the screen or buttons. This is the best cover! I recommend it for everyone who has a Kindle 3!
The case gives good solid protection to my kindle. The outward appearance is very nice and the grove for the closure band is a nice touch. Inside slot for papers and such handy. It could be improved with better fit on the bottom holders as they do partially cover the back and shift keys but they are still usable if with care. Also as the speakers are in the rear on top of the kindle they are muffled by the case and this could be cured with a mesh in the appropriate area of the case. One last thought as I remove the kindle from the case often for comfort changing the top clips for elastic straps may work better in the long run.
All in all for low cost this is a very good protective case and will keep the kindle secure in briefcase or what ever I grab to travel with as well as by itself.
I purchased this cover because I wanted a less expensive alternative than the options Amazon created for the third generation of Kindles.
Where Amazon covers use metal brackets to secure the Kindle, this cover uses vinyl corners. I have concerns about the Kindle itself getting cracked with the insertion of the metal brackets. I really like the vinyl corners; they do keep the Kindle secure and protect the corners from accidentally being bumped.
While I did not purchase the Amazon cover, a friend of mine did. This cover is comparable in design and looks. With this case closed, the only feature not present is the tab on the elastic band. Honestly, I don't miss the tab.
One additional feature this one has that the Amazon cover does not is a pocket on the inside cover. There you may store notes, receipts, cash, credits cards, or any other miscellaneous items, if you so desire.
Obviously, this one cannot be compared to the Amazon cover with the built-in light (since this one does not have a light). However, I have found that I do not miss that either.
That said, if you are looking for a less expensive alternative with similar design--and even similar quality--this might be the option for you.
I had been looking for an affordable cover for the Kindle 3 and feel this one hits the spot, it looks good and there is nothing that gets in the way like I have seen with the closing straps on some aftermarket covers. The four corners appears to hold the reader securely and all the controls are within easy reach.
The elastic band that keeps the cover closed rests in a little groove on the front, I just wish it came with a little tab to make it easier to grab the elastic band but you should be able to easily make your own tab. Overall I am very happy with its looks and design.
If there's a knock on the Kindle (third gen), it's that it is so slim and sleek, it doesn't really fit comfortably in your hands. Also, since I take mine back and forth on the bus everyday, I feared dropping it might mean the end of my Kindle. The mCover lets me hold the device in a book-like fashion, but it's still slim and portable. The outside a durable, decent quality leather that feels sturdy and, with the elastic cord in place, offers protections against the Kindle going anywhere. Inside, four plastic tabs secure the Kindle by the corners. The lower left tab blocks the arrow button slightly, but otherwise all buttons, ports and switches are easily accessible. There's also a pocket on the inside cover for a few papers, etc. The mCover does everything it should, and while you can spend more, I'm not sure you'll get a better case. - Leather Cover - Kindle 3 - Leather Case - Kindle Covers'

Cordless Telephones - cordless telephones, att
This phone with spare handset has worked very well for me for a couple months now. For its price I can't imagine a small phone that's much better.
What really impressed me, however, is that this phone uses Nickel Metal Hydride batteries (NiMH) as opposed to the forerunner batteries, Nickel Cadmium (NiCad). The bottom line on this type of battery is that you can leave the phone in its charging base all the time if you wish and it will remain fully charged. NiCad batteries were such a pain because the user is expected to discharge them fully on a regular basis so that they will recharge better and more completely, and also increase battery life.
What's the point of having a handy charging base if you have to deliberately leave your phone off the charger so it will discharge and then abruptly cut out on you while you're using it.
I'll leave it to others here to extol the virtues of this phone but for me the phone is very adequate in function and features and its batteries remain its noteworthy asset.
Thanks ... Sam AT&T DECT 6.0 White/Grey Digital Dual Handset Cordless Telephone (EL51209)
People have told me that there is feedback when I put them on speaker. As a result I find myself wanting a headset option. There are some minor software problems, such as the caller id is stored without the leading 1-, so if you try to call the number back (how convenient!) it will fail :(. Also super lame imho is if you are using the "phone" and press the "speaker" button (or vice-versa) it thinks you are trying to conference in a new call rather than that you simply want to switch between handset mode and speaker-phone mode.
I was starting to hear "noise" on the line while using my older phones. I don't recall the mega-hertz numbers (I did my comparative research a while ago), but these phones work at a lower megahertz (I think 1.9) than my older phones. I read on Consumer Reports that my older phones operated at a mega Hz that was prone to interference.
These new phones are interference free. I set the base unit in the house and the mate outside in my garage. I like to work in my garage and the older phones would not ring out there - the new one does.
I'm very happy with the new phones. I even bought another set.

The phone has worked flawlessly over the month or two I have had it. There are two handsets, which can each use either the main or the satellite base for charging. I charge mine nightly but suspect I could use them and leave them off base for days without a problem. With this phone pair, you can use both handsets at the same time on the same call, which I could not do with the phone pair I replaced. They may also be used at the same time with another phone that is not part of the set if connected to your line. I have had no interference or bad signals, and range has never been a problem, even when we take a handset out in the yard. I really am 100% satisfied with my purchase and feel I got a great deal at $40 for the pair.
IF you have VOIP type telephone service you MUST HAVE this exact type of phone. It is clearly, no pun intended, THE BEST technology for VOIP protocol. There is NO conflict with home networks, cable, etc., like I have experienced with previous VOIP nightmares. ALL desired features (and then some) are included with this phone set. Ease of use is incredible! The quality IS there and the price IS right. I switched from traditional wired Embarq to Comcast VOIP and am extremely pleased with this new technology and how well this new phone set compliments my Internet phone service. Had Vonage a few years ago (groan) and the older 5.8 or 6.0 GHz (Dect 6.0 is actually 1.9 GHz) would not work well enough to take the leap of faith. Now, finally, equipment has caught up with the VOIP technology! I might add that this phone, in gentle white color, is "100% wife tested and approved". She loves it. Research technology, make comparisons with competitors offerings and their prices. I bet you WILL buy this set from Amazon. Ring-ring, opportunity is calling.
Installed the ATT EL 51209 phones on April 1st, 2010. Shortly thereafter my internet connection started to give me random disconnect problems. After days of on and off DSL router problems I got a new replacement modem of a different brand from my service provider. Short term improvement but then problems daily. May 18th had a tech come out and check the line. His test equipment indicated many many error codes on the line. Disconnect phone connection to the house and error code immediately went away. Reconnected house wiring and many error codes. Have 3 wireless phone bases and unplugged them one by one. As soon as the ATT EL5 1209 was unplugged from the phone line all the error codes went away and as long as unplugged stayed away. Apparently it has to do with the frequency the cordless phone unit operates on. Nothing on the box tells you what frequency that is. Bought a new cordless unit with 3 phones operating on 5.8 gigahertz (same as the 2 older cordless units) and now no problems. The ATT box says "Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication (DECT6.0) is a new frequency band that transmits your voice across multiple channels. This technology provides superior quality of voice and sound, high protection against wiretapping and better range than 2.4GHz and 5.8GHZ phone systems while not interfering with wireless routers." It might work for you but if you start having problems with dropped DSL internet service, unplug the ATT EL51209 and see if it goes away. - Att - Cordless Telephones - Dect Cordless Phone - Speakerphone'
