First Aid Kits - safety, automotive
I ordered two of these kits in anticipation for another cold Minnesota winter. I received it within 2 days since I have Amazon Prime. I am pleased with the kit overall, but am disappointed as well.
The kit seems sufficient with plenty to get by if I were to be stranded somewhere in the middle of no where. There's stuff to keep me warm, safe, and to signal others as well. Everything seems to be of mediocre quality, which is good enough for me.
However, it is different from what is described.
1) No Matches! The set of matches in both sets were replaced with another cheap candle due to shipping restrictions. What good are my 4 candles without matches?
2) The flashlight is NOT a hand-charged dual LED flashlight. Instead it is an ordinary cheap flashlight with two AA batteries.
The waterproof matches and the hand-charged flashlight were definitely selling points, and I'm not so sure I would have bought this particular set if it I knew these pitfalls ahead of time. Nonetheless, I'll keep them to save myself the hassle since I'm still better with the kits than without them.
I am planning on adding a few items before I chuck it into my trunk. Some hard candy, extra socks, some baggies to keep my feet dry in case I need to trudge through some snow, a container to melt snow in, chapstick, a medium sized and durable container of cat litter, and finally my trusty jumper cables. AAA 65-Piece Winter Severe Weather Travel Kit
If you are a driver who travels in rough winter weather (or if you know and like such a driver), this is a perfect starter kit to put in the trunk before the first leaves fall. The AAA Winter Travel kit has put together a bunch of survival items that could make the difference between freezing to death or waiting for help in relative comfort. The kit is not 100% complete, no kit could be, but if you add the items that pertain to your personal situation, you will feel a lot better when driving those backwoods roads.
The most useful item, by far, is the enclosed "Emergency Car Care Guide," which has instructions and suggestions to get your car headed back to safety instead of being stranded at the side of a cold and stormy road. If the car cannot be started again easily, the Guide also contains suggestions on how to keep warm and safe while waiting for rescue. To help, there are emergency candles, a shovel to remove snow from around the car's tailpipe (keeps away that carbon monoxide), a flashlight and an emergency blanket. The blanket is made of thin, reflective plastic and would be better supplemented with a heavy woolen blanket, or even layers of newspaper in an emergency.
Another thing that the kit does not contain is food and water necessary to stay warm, comfortable and not hungry while waiting. I suggest always having a case package of water bottles (you need a lot more water than food, and three candles won't melt much snow) and some high calorie snack bars, which last a long time and will provide needed body heat in a winter emergency. Both items can be easily replaced and rotated as time passes, so that the items won't be old and stale when a real emergency occurs.
As a thoughtful starting point for your kit, this is great, but don't kid yourself - 46 pieces of the 63 piece kit are the "first aid supplies" (mostly bandages) and "quality vinyl cover." You need more than this in a winter emergency. An hour's online research will give you a complete list, to which you need only add something to kill time. A novel from Amazon, perhaps? :-)
As other reviewers have said, the description and pictures are misleading! Unfortunately for me, these reviews didn't go up until after I put in my order! I am very upset. This is the first time I've ever bought something from Amazon and been so misled. And for those that may not have read the other reviews, there is no hand chargeable flashlight or waterproof matches. Matches were replaced by ONE candle due to alleged shipping restrictions. How am I supposed light any of the candles WITHOUT matches?! Also, it is now a 65-piece kit. I don't know how it compares to the 63-piece kit, but I doubt the 2 extra pieces are anything more significant than bandages. One final thing is that there is a August 2010 expiration date listed on the front of the bag. I haven't checked to see which item expires, but it probably refers to a minor first aid item.
Useful item, misleading description. I actually used this last weekend when I unexpectedly had to put chains on my tires and was without a hat and mittens, so I am glad I had it. However, the item description lists "1 hand-charged dual LED flashlight" which is not the case. I got a normal, incandescent flashlight with two batteries. No LED, no hand-charge. Also, the item description lists "strobe light" which also appears to be absent, unless you repeatedly turn the flashlight on and off by yourself. Finally, no matches as the description says. Apparently shipping regulations restrict the shipping of matches.
These items really need to be fixed in the description.
I got one of the other AAA kit's and figured that the severe weather one would be a good addition considering I live in Chicago and every so often we have severe weather. I read the reviews and people raved about the little shovel...ummm why? Either I didn't get the same one they did or I got a defective one because I couldn't use it. Three people couldn't use it. I actually threw it out it was that much of a waste (the shovel not the kit).
Any of the other AAA car kits are just as good and have everything if not more that this one does.
Watch the price on this kit. It shouldn't cost more than $30. It is a basic winter weather kit for your vehicle. The highlights have to be the shovel, strobe light, and first aid kit. You get a whistle (nice touch if you spot someone in the distance), 3 tiny teacup candles (that might come in handy?), an ice scraper (which you should already have), a small flashlight (low power), and a guidebook.
It also has everything to keep ONE PERSON very warm. Keep that in mind. This seems like a one person kit. It comes with two hand warmer packets. I added several more. It has a three-piece fleece set for one person. Make sure you dress warm when you leave the house and that shouldn't be a problem. If someone in your party gets wet, you have the three-piece fleece set as a back-up.
It only comes with one emergency blanket. That didn't cut it for me. I bought 4 more for less than $5. You can buy more here Emergency Thermal Blankets (4 Pack). These are supposed to be great at preserving body heat while you wait for help to arrive.
You will still need to add a few things to this kit. They do not have waterproof matches. Buy some. I need to get a few glow sticks in case the flashlight quit working. And it wouldn't hurt to put a pocket-sized bible in this kit. If you are stuck in the middle of nowhere all alone and in trouble, who better to be with than God? Just a tip. - First Aid - Automotive - Keep In Car - Safety'

I've used this tool for a couple of years now and can't imagine hanging artwork without it. Works with any kind of picture hanging hardware and marks on the wall exactly where to put the nail to get it in the right spot. Under the Roof Decorating 5-100117 Hang & Level Picture Hanging Tool, Yellow
Picture hanging used to be a time-consuming and complicated job, but this tool makes it quick and easy! Being able to mark exactly where the nail goes lets you hang multiple pictures that are perfectly aligned. Using the "two button" system let's you use two nails to hang a larger piece instead of one, which has the added benefit of keeping the picture straighter for longer. I've also bought 2 for "house warming" gifts for friends that have moved into new houses and they LOVED it.
A great little product that does exactly what it says it will do. I have hung quite a few pictures since getting this product and they have all been great. It makes the whole process near effortless, and in that respect the item achieves its aim.
My only minor niggle about the item is if you were going to mount a picture close to the ceiling. The size of the product makes it impossible to get a picture mounted to close to the ceiling. But given the fact that the chances of wanting to mount a picture so high is small, I do not feel this detracts from the quality of the design or product itself.
Overall a great hand product.
This product saved a lot of time, I bought it for my husband as a hint I had a lot of pictures I wanted hung up! Within a week all my pictures were hung nice and neat, level! I would recommend this product for anyone! - Decor - Do It Yourself'

I'm not sure it is essential to have worked in an office to enjoy this film, but I'm certain it will hit home for those who have. The movie was a complete bust at the box office, which utterly mystifies me, because it is hysterically funny and reflects the experience of millions of people across the United States (and I assume elsewhere). In an age where companies are seeking to lay off workers at any possible opportunity, this film has perhaps even more relevance now than it did when it came out in 1999.The humor of the film works on multiple levels, but for me so much of it is funny with a twist of the knife, for much of the humor hints at a much more serious fact: modern work is genuinely dreadful and alienating. Perhaps many office workers love their job, but I hate mine, and I assume that I am merely one of millions. No one in this film has a meaningful job. Even Lumbergh, though the boss, has an absurd position. Peter Gibbons is at least able to be honest about the ridiculousness of his plight during the incredibly funny sequence in which he is hypnotized. The film is a collection of many, many wonderful moments. I started laughing from the second that Peter Gibbons gets trapped in the traffic jam and is passed by an old man on a walker, and didn't stop until the very end. The film is a parade of very funny bits, from Michael Bolton and his passion for gangsta rap to Joanna's boss urging her to wear more flair (played by director Mike Judge) to Peter's neighbor who would yell at him through the walls to Peter's bizarre fantasy in which Lumbergh is making love to Joanna holding a cup of coffee in one hand and her ankle in the other to virtually any conversation involving Lumbergh and Milton. Some of the humor is a bit too broad. For instance, although I defy anyone not to find Milton's sequences funny as heck, they don't fit in quite as neatly with the satire of the rest of the film. I wouldn't, however, want to trade them in for a tighter movie. In a way, this movie has made my life easier to live. I suspected my job was absurd before seeing this film. Now I know it is. But somehow knowing the truth makes it easier to get through the day. Office Space - Special Edition with Flair (Widescreen Edition)
This movie made an almost "psychic" connection with me... the first time I saw it, I had just come home from my nightmare job -- many of the same things depicted in the movie had happened to me that very day, including the printer jam with that exact message "Error - PC Load Letter", while trying to print a report that was already late (what the heck does that message mean, anyway?!). I related so well to this movie's honest, astute, and technically correct observations of office culture in the 90's, that the brilliantly original bits of commedy were almost incidental to me (I must have annoyed the heck out of my wife with outbursts like "Oh my GOD, that's so TRUE!" every two minutes). I caught some of the more subtle humor in subsequent viewings. I'll admit, the movie lost its hold on me about 2/3 in, when the main character (who had by this time become an icon to me with his new found "no fear of consequences" attitude) took a strange criminal direction, and his angst began to return. This seemed to break the consistancy. I wan't too thrilled with Jenifer Aniston's performance either, although I suppose that had more to do with her script. In any case, the second time I watched the move, none of this bothered me as much.I've since purchased the DVD, and have worn this disk out playing it for friends. I'll never get tired of this movie... even the sound track makes me laugh. It's a wonder that it didn't get better reviews, although I guess one really would have had to have experienced office politics in the 90's to fully relate (I wonder when was the last time in the 90's that Ebert heard, "Don't forget to fill in your timesheets!")Some reviewers gave it low ratings claiming that it was "lightweight"... okay, so it's no Citizen Kane, but it certainly doesn't claim to be either! Give it credit for what it is -- as a lighthearted observational commedy, it's brilliant. And that's not to say that it was a total no-brainer either... on an intelligence level, I'd rate it much higher than say... any movie ever made by the Fairley Brothers (and certainly much lower on the "obnoxious bathroom humor"-scale).It's a pretty sad testiment to the intelligence of the average North American that movies like "Me, Myself, and Irene" brought in more money than Office Space. I hope Mike Judge doesn't let this stop him from creating another gem.
If you've ever worked in a tiny cubicle, pushed papers, and fought a worthless fax machine in an attempt to earn a living, you will love this movie. OFFICE SPACE is a hilarious movie that deconstructs everything that makes an office worker's life so miserable: from morning traffic, to catch phrases (it looks like somone has the Moondays), to bosses that totally ignore their workers. This movie had a low budget, but Mike Judge is a brilliant filmmaker. He takes a relatively unknown cast and is able to milk hilarious, yet totally lifelike performances from each actor and unites everything together in a coherent conceptually comedy masterpiece (e.g. the fax-beating scene with the ganster music playing is just pure brilliance). Of course, the film says a lot about the actors as well, they don't seem to be just characters or caricatures: they seem like real people. There is no sex, relative little violence (well, there is a lot of violence toward inanimate objects), and relatively little cursing words (most of the foul language comes from the film's soundtrack). A movie that's destined to become a modern comedy classic.
If you have ever worked in a cubicle farm for a technology company, or ROFL after reading Dilbert cartoons, and know what ROFL means, you will love this movie. Mike Judge (creator of Beavis and Butthead) digs into and makes fun of the things that people hate most about their jobs, with such accuracy that he must have consulted Scott Adams himself while developing the screenplay. With company names like "Penetrode", this movie takes numerous humorous stabs at the idiocy foisted upon the modern working class by the "management class", those highly-compensated stuffed-shirts with no more qualifications than an MBA hanging on their wall. These are the people who abuse you every time you make a mistake, and try to convince you that they are really your buddy in a thinly veiled attempt to keep you submissive and cooperative. Office Space tears into the very heart of the manipulative phony friendship ploy that so many managers think of as their "brilliant" management technique. So if you're tired of being shocked every time you touch a door knob, and sick of having half a dozen different "bosses" giving you conflicting work assignments, then I highly recommend that you buy this movie and blow off some steam, before it's too late! This film is a lot of fun to watch, but if you're looking for an intellectually challenging work of art, this is not the film for you. The story is quite simple; it is a single-layer story that conveys the same information on subsequent viewing as it conveyed during the first viewing. The visual and audio elements are interesting and entertaining, but not artistic. This is a fun comedy that a lot of people can identify with, not deep social commentary. However, the social commentary that IS in the film couldn't be more timely. The DVD itself is mediocre. No extras to speak of, other than cast bios and one trailer. Transitions from one menu to another are slightly animated, and the way the DVD starts up is cute, but overall the power of the DVD medium is not utilized.Movie ------- Originality: B+ Creativity: B+ Complexity/Depth: C+ Relevance/Message: A+ Artistic Merit: C Overall Entertainment Value: ADVD ------ Transfer Quality: A Extras: C- Use of Medium: C+ - Cult Classic - Dvd - Jennifer Aniston - Mike Judge'

Apparel Dress For Baby Boys - kids tie, tuxedo
I ordered these suits for my sons (6 yr old and 2 yr old) on short notice due to the fact my sister's husband and passed away unexpectedly. I ordered them on a Tuesday as I was on my way out the door to drive us to Virginia (from Texas) to support my sister and attend her husband's service. The suits arrived at my sister's house on Thursday (just 2 days later!) and the service was held Friday evening. THANK YOU for coming through for us... for providing wonderful, quality garments in an absolutely timely manner. I will definitely purchase from this vendor again! Gino Giovanni Formal Boy Black Suit From Baby to Teen (2T)
My wife and I bought this little tux for our 2 year-old for a wedding. It was inexpensive and fit rather well. The zipper tie was great because there's no way you're getting a 2 year-old to stand still long enough to tie a real knot. The tux came with a nice plastic bag to keep it clean during delivery and to keep clean until we needed it. A great purchase for anyone needing a toddler tux.
I ordered this suit two weeks before my brother's wedding for my son. I was nervous it wouldn't arrive in time (there was also a holiday in there as well, make the working days even less), but the price to pay shipping above standard was ridiculous, so I took the chance and ordered it regular on a Sunday evening. I GOT THE SUIT TWO DAYS LATER ON TUESDAY EVENING!! I was SOOOO pleased with that fast service. The suit is perfect, and my little toddler son looks absolutely adorable.
The suit is a run-of-the-mill polyester cheap suit, but I wouldn't want to invest too much in a suit for my son when he's going to outgrow it next week. It looked cute. Everyone cooed. The company originally sent me the wrong size jacket (be sure to order the correct size... there is a HUGE difference between sizes!), but they fixed their mistake as soon as I brought it to their attention. All in all, I was pleased with this purchase. The vest really sold it! Cute!!!
Very pleased with this product. Good cut, very black, and a terrific price for all the pieces. Shipping was incredibly fast. Plus, my seven year old son says it's comfortable. What more could you ask for?
This is the worst suit I ever seen, the price is low, but the quality is too.
Don't waste your money or time. They are liers too, they told me to delete my reviw to give me my money back, after I did it, they didn't give me my money.PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM THEM, THEY ARE DISHONEST.
It seems that this works for little children, but I bought this for my 10 year old, a size 14, assuming I'd take it in. The pants were way too tight and the jacket was way too big. The quality is terrible. The feel of the fabric, etc. It looks like it will fall apart in no time. Again, for a 2 year old, this is fine, and you can get away with a cheaper quality suit. Now I think I'll have to pay a restocking fee on this piece of junk.
My son wore this for a wedding. It is lightweight and was very comfortable for him. The white shirt is cheap but can't really see it anyway. The price was great considering it costs more to have it tailored than the entire price of the suit. We were happy with the appearance.
Floored! Ordered for my 4 year old in a size 6 for my brother's wedding. He loves it! I love it! Everyone loves it!! Arrived a day earlier then estimation given, looks SHARP! Price was spectacular, absolutely perfect! Thanks so much! Nice Quality, what a find! Recommended most definitey!!
Very nice product, well packaged and fast shipping. I had an issue with a tie that came with the suit and customer service assures me that a new one will be sent right away. The suit is excellent in quality and fits my son perfectly. He wore it in a wedding as a ring bearer and was comfortable for the majority of the night. - Kids Tie - Handsome Tuxedo - Boys Tie - Tuxedo'

Rockwell - rockwell, band saws
I'm quite pleased with this bench top band saw. However, the thickest wood it's able to cut is 3 1/4". The owners manual has much to be desired, as there is no procedure for adjusting the upper and lower blade bearings. It simply says factory adjusted. Unfortunately, the bearings on the one I received were completely out of adjustment and I had to call for a repair tech to instruct me. Rockwell RK7453 9-Inch Band Saw
Item came in about the normal shipping. Open box and parts came dropping out. Read the instructions thoroughly and tried to set the blade up. Forget it. I have been using saws for 50+ years. I could not get the blade to stay on. Would not track!!! The upper wheel is made very poorly. Would not recommend this piece of junk to anybody!!! Pay a little more and get a "real" tool and not his poor excuse for a tool!!!
I bought the saw thinking it would be nice to have a work light attached, that is nice but I am having trouble keeping the blade from coming off the wheels , it keeps coming off when I cut a shape and cuts crooked when I want to cut a straight line. It might be me, but the blade dosen't seem to be very tight , even when I adjust it all the way.
The blade broke and the instructions say to turn a knob. I turned the knob lock to lock and the upper wheel never moved which would have allowed installation of the new blade. Wasted almost 2 hours getting bounced around customer service and nobody there had any answers and worse yet, they didn't know who to ask now. Very customer unfriendly, unless you want to buy a Rockwell.
I am quite pleased with this bandsaw. I did not personally have the blade-coming-off problem described by other reviewers, and it's true that you have to do a fair bit of adjustment to blade guides, etc to get the saw to work well. The adjustment is straightforward: watch the Wood Whisperer's guide to setting up a bandsaw, and you'll easily figure this one out. It even comes with the tools to do the adjustment!
However, I've now logged probably 10-20 hours of continuous sawing on the saw, and other than breaking a blade yesterday (my own fault), I have no complaints.
The work light is very nice. I put the bandsaw near my (also cheap) drill press and use the work light interchangeably.
I plan on replacing the table with a larger one at some point -- the existing table is just bolted on, so it looks like an easy replacement.
The miter gauge is worthless: throw it out. But that's always true at this level of tool.
In summary: if you want to spend very little on a small bandsaw, and you're willing to do some patient fiddling to get it to go, you might have luck with this saw. OTOH, maybe I just got lucky. :-) - Band Saws - Bandsaw - Rockwell - Woodworking'

It's always good to have a spare battery in my bag. It's unfortunate this one is as costly as it is.
As a previous owner of an LX3 (and now an LX5), I see that Panasonic has "chipped" this battery as indicated by the 4th connection (the circle 'D' visible along the left hand side in the stock photo). This means I'm stuck with buying Panasonic's battery, versus a less pricey aftermarket battery from a third party.
However -- lesson learned over the years after buying aftermarket batteries for other Pentax, Panasonic and Sony cameras I've owned -- the spares from the camera manufacturer have always given me greater capacity than the aftermarkets, even when they come from recognized companies.
Sometimes the reduced capacity is worth the cost. Sure, maybe I'll only get 2/3 of the number of shots, but maybe at 1/3 of the price! Not to mention it keeps a little price pressure on the manufacturer (Panasonic, in this case) to keep their prices in check.
Anyhow, I'm way off on a tangent. The battery works. It lasts for more shots than I care to shoot in a day. Its self-discharge rate is very low, so even if it's been stored for a few weeks, it's ready to shoot. Can't go wrong with this battery. Panasonic DMWBCJ13 Battery for DMC-LX5
This is the first review I have ever submitted but really felt ripped off by the seller (Commercial Solutions Consulting Storefront) and wanted to let people know. I wanted an extra backup battery for the Panasonic LX5 I was buying, and instead of buying a generic battery for a lot less money, wanted to play it safe and pay the extra bucks ($50) for a factory one I knew would work. So when I ordered my camera from Amazon I also ordered the extra battery along with it which came from Commercial Solutions Consulting Storefront.
I chose this one because the picture showed Lumix and Panasonic Model DMWBCJ13 on the battery, and along with the much higher price I knew it was a Panasonic factory one. HOWEVER when my package arrived with both the camera and extra battery, it was VERY obvious it wasn't a Panasonic battery. Instead of seeing LUMIX and Panasonic model DMWBCJ13 on it I saw "Battery Pack for DMWBCJ13" and nothing Panasonic/Lumix related anywhere on it. In addition, when I compared the two of them, the factory battery that came with my LX5 was noticeably heavier than this generic one.
To this sellers credit it did ship/arrive promptly, and to Amazon's credit I was given a quick return/refund when I called. However to picture a Panasonic battery, and charge top dollar to get it, only in turn to receive a cheap generic one I could have ordered for $10 really got to me. I will never order anything from this seller again.
NOTE - when I went to write this up I noticed a LOT of other reviews from people buying Sony, Cannon, and Panasonic batteries from Commercial Solutions with the same experience. They were replying to the posts by offering them $35 to either remove their review or change it to positive. They can keep their $35.
The main reason I bought the Lumix DMC-LX5 is because I can carry it everywhere - in case I find something worth shooting. Some days I shoot a lot, some days not so much. What that means, though, is that it's hard to predict when my battery might be running low. Plus, I don't always carry my charger around with me. One day I was at an event where I was shooting a lot and halfway through I ran out of juice - that's when I decided that I needed to have an extra one.
I've had bad luck with off brand batteries in the past, so this was really the only choice for me, and I haven't been disappointed. The cost is the only drawback with the battery - but I'd rather spend a bit more for something that works well than pay less for something that doesn't work or causes problems with the camera. These batteries hold charge very well and last longer than the batteries in comparable compact digital cameras. I keep this in the storage case that comes with it, and carry it around with my camera in the front pouch of a Caselogic Medium Camera/Camcorder Case. It works great, and now I've always got a back up when I run out of juice.
Do not buy this battery! I purchased one and received a generic battery. It was not the Lumix/Panasonic battery pictured. I instead purchased one from BHphoto and received a legit battery.
BEWARE!
As this item was shipped from Amazon, they quickly processed an RMA, sent me a return label at no cost and refunded my money very promptly.
This merchant, Commercial Solutions Consulting, did not send the item pictured in the product advertisement. Instead of sending the genuine Lumix Panasonic Battery Pack, Model No. DMW-BCJ13PP, as advertised, they sent a generic. I was disappointed when I received it, but also did not have the time to send the product back and demand a refund before heading overseas for the summer and fall. Unfortunately for me, THE GENERIC MODEL DOES NOT WORK! It will power my Lumix DMC-LX5 for approximately 1 minute before the camera flashes a warning that the battery does not work with this camera and automatically shuts down. As far as I am concerned, Commercial Solutions Consulting stole my money. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH COMMERICAL SOLUTIONS CONSULTING. Plain and simple, they are not an honest company.
I also received a cheap, unbranded battery, despite the fact that a Panasonic was pictured. I charged it up, put it in the camera, and it didn't work. The vendor was "Commercial Solutions Consulting". The battery was not available directly through Amazon when I ordered it. Amazon refunded me immediately, and I sent the battery back. The battery is now available through Amazon Prime and I'm reordering.
When I went to buy an Extra battery for an extended vacation (and extended picture taking), I researched the cost of the quality and cost of this battery. The quality was very evident and the battery provided extensive hours of photo shooting (for example, when I was stranded for 6 hours in the middle of the night with nothing but my camera and two batteries), and clearly established the quality of this battery. The cost is in line with most brand specific batteries.
Although there are no genereics available at this time, I would not recommend buying one in any case. Generic batteries have significantly decreased battery life and for any serious amateur battery life is a serious concern.
Enjoy your pictures,
David
PS. The only reason I gave this battery 4 starts is in the initial cost. This battery is 5 stars in all other ways - Digital Camera - Battery - Lx5 - Photography'

Cordless Drills - 18 volt, cordless drills
I purchased this drill along with a Makita BDF452 and gave both a workout in my garage. My test used 2"x6" pressure treated lumber. My goal was to test power, battery endurance and comfort of use. With both drills, I drilled qty (10) 1" spade bit holes, qty (20) 3/8" bit holes and sunk qty (75) 2" drywall screws. My hand and arm were tired so I quit, but suffice it to say, neither drill quit, so I called battery endurance test a tie. I believe the Bosch had slightly more power and speed, but the Makita had plenty of both for my needs. Both drills gave your arm a good twist when the spade bit would catch and hold. In a close race, I declared the Bosch the winner in power category. The Makita was clearly a more comfortable drill to use. It fit my hand well and the trigger was easy to use. The Bosch handle is configured at a bit of an angle and while using the spade bit the back of the drill seemed to press into my hand. Also, during use my finger naturally moved to the bottom of the trigger and it became a bit uncomfortable. Both drills are very well built and neither got hot during my tests. At the end of the day I preferred the Makita because it was slightly smaller (about 3/4" shorter) and clearly had a more comfortable grip position during use. Bosch 36618-02 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Compact-Tough Litheon Drill/Driver with 2 Slim Batteries
Great drill! I am Contractor and currently own the 36v Bosch litheon drill (Dewalt XRP before that), but I got tired of using it for smaller projects like hanging doors and installing cabinets due to it's bulky size and weight. I now find myself using this drill for everything. It has an excellent power to weight ratio and is very smooth/refined. I have the slim pack batteries and they hold a good charge. I will still keep the 36V around but it may end up collecting dust. I have only owned the 18v for two weeks now so I can't comment on it's long term reliability, but I have used it for sinking numerous 3" deckmates into framing lumber, speedbores, small holesaws, backerboard screws, and other fasteners. I can't comment on it's mixing ability (mortar and other cement mixtures), but that's what electric corded drills are for. As an every day user, I am very happy with this purchase.
Used it to build 4 picnic tables from Rockler plans in a college class. Four work crews, 3 days, hundred of screws in green treated lumber, one charge. Amazing torque, did not need to recharge. Students are Construction management majors and future shop teachers. They were impressed, as was I. Preschoolers came and helped assemble the tables (donated to their preschool) and the clutch worked well to allow the screw to be driven to the correct depth. I love this drill. Oh, and the light is sweet when working in dim areas.
Super tool! I usually don't brand-buy, but my garage seems to be collecting a lot of blue-green and red tools. I have a Bosch RO sander and jigsaw now, and I think they are both top notch. This cordless drill fits right in with the other quality tools. Background: I use this tool for light to heavy work (fine woodworking, drywall, rough carpentry, make holes in 4x4 joists with spade bits to run electrical cable).
The drill is very slender compared to my old (got it three years ago) cordless Craftsman. I can drill in tighter spaces now without having to use my 90 degree attachment. The size reduction also means a lighter tool, which is very deceptive; this drill has some serious power. Nothing like a corded drill but still... The power of the 18 volt is impressive to say the least. I love the 30-minute charge time for the baterries. I fully anticipate solely using this drill thoughout an entire day-long project.
The ratcheting lock it GREAT! I put in a bit and tighten it down with a ratchet lock. This feature has given me the utmost confidence that a bit will never again slip again.
The price is kind of up there compared to competitors, but you get a whole lot of quality with this purchase. Highly recommend!
I purchased the Bosch to replace another 18v that stopped working. I was impressed with the balance, lightweight (compaired to a NiCa) and the exceptional sensitivity of the variable speed contol. I also like the led light under the A good quality product. Negative features are a poorly designed bit holder (it doesn't work!) and no belt hook. Other than that a great quality tool
Recently I needed to purchase a new drill for work, and chose this one for several reasons. First and foremost, I own several Bosch tools and I already know that when I buy Bosch I won't be disappointed. The craftsmanship and functionality of their tools is top notch, and this one is no exception. The second reason I chose this drill was due to the Lithium Ion battery pack. If you can get the same juice out of a smaller and lighter package, why not? With this drill in my hand I felt like I was holding an older 12v model, but with the power of an 18v. I'll never use Ni-MH again. What surprised me more than anything else though, is the way the battery holds power. With older drills, as the battery loses power, so does the drill. This drill works at full power until the battery is drained, allowing you to work at full capacity until its time to change batteries. The final reason I chose this drill was for the torque rating. Simply put, I like power, and its better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. At this price point and combination of features, this was the most powerful drill available when I made my purchase. I find myself actually using the different torque and speed settings based on the job I am doing instead of just putting it on the highest setting and hoping I've got enough power. I'm probably going to get one of these for the house really soon even though I've got a perfectly fine cordless drill already. I like it that much.
Bought this drill after returning the 14.4V Black and Decker. My first thought was to spend about $70-$80 for a drill. I quickly learned while constructing a wooden swing set that the Black and Deck was not a very good tool and went back and spent an extra $60 bucks to get this tool. The difference was amazing, this drill just feels stronger and better made (the BD felt like it was made of plastic and this one felt like it was made of metal). Grat power and torque, nice size, quick bit changes--plus the chuck locks with a "click" so you know its locked (the BD chuck couldn't even keep the drill bits in place). All in all I was very happy with this purchase, its the type of tool you just hold and know its a quality tool. BUY this drill!! - Cordless Drills - 18 Volt - Cordless Drill - Lithium-ion'

Hd Camcorder - hd camcorder, high definition
This is close to being a perfect example of a wearable/mountable POV camera. But unfortunately, close isn't quite good enough.
The pros:
Video is awesome, in all of the modes.
Stills are very good quality, the timelapse feature is fantastic.
It's waterproof.
The mounting options are (almost) limitless.
The cons:
It's awkward to set up. Menu is like something from 20 years ago.
Firmware issues have yet to be addressed by the manufacturer. This is inexcusable as the camera has been available for sale for nearly a year.
Audio is useless. They could have saved weight and cost by just not including a mic. The only instance where it even sort of works is when mounted right near a loudish sound you want to highlight, such as an engine.
There are too many instances where "Macgyvering" is required to get the desired result. The quick release mount rattles so you need to tape the base plate, the non waterproof back allows too much wind noise, so you need to tape over the openings, the shutter button rattles, so you need to tape over that. Moral of the story: BUY TAPE.
The support by the manufacturer is not quite adequate. I realize it's a small start up company, but for all the issues with the use of the camera and the handling/editing of the files, they really need to release some conclusive videos or articles to address these concerns.
People who might find this camera useful:
Auto racing enthusiasts
Mountain Bikers
Sailors
Hobbyist videographers looking for those unique shots
People who will likely be disappointed and frustrated by this camera:
Pretty much anyone who thinks they'll be using it as a camcorder.
People who aren't really tech savvy and/or have an older computer
People who don't like to tinker and engineer solutions to make it do what they want.

As of September 7, 2010, Gopro released the new firm ware for the camera. It seems to have fixed most of the bugs/issues. It also provides the option for upside down mounting. GoPro HD Naked HERO Camera
I have used this camera a couple of times since receiving it for Christmas. I have used both the strap mount for my vented bicycle helmet as well as the permanent stick on mount for my dual sport motorcycle helmet. In both cases, the mounts work as well as the camera. I still have the previous generation GoPro HERO in standard definition, but not in the wide field of view lens configuration like the current HD version. I like the wide field of view of this HD model. It is great at giving a very good view of both the trail as will as your handlebar movements while riding both my mountain bike or motorcycle. The quality of the video is fantastic. The files do get large, but that is to be expected with the high resolution of this camera. I have been using a 16GB SDHC card and have filed up about half of it on one battery charge. I would recommend a high speed card reader to improve the download times from the card. A 12 min video was nearly a gigabyte. The battery last I think longer than the previous standard definition camera which ran on AAA batteries. I think that I will buy an additional battery someday for long rides with lots of action.
The only reason I have not given it a full 5 stars is the difficulty in reading the small status screen with all the various modes it has. The same issue I have with the standard definition HERO. The icons that tell you if you are in burst, still, timed, or video mode are very small across the top of the display. The numbers to tell you the number of pictures or videos taken are much larger. It is just difficult if you have the camera mounted on top of your helmet and you try and look in the mirror on your bike to see if the camera is on and what mode it is. You have to use the select button on the front to both turn the camera on and select the right mode. The shutter button is on top and is easy to operator even with gloves. It is not difficult to read the display if you are holding the camera in front of you, but much more difficult when mounted on top of your helmet. You can unclip the camera from the mount, but that can be difficult when it is on top of your helmet.
I am looking forward to the expansion port options being available, like the LCD screen to view the videos in the field. I am also thinking of investing in the chest strap mount so I can get different view over the handle bars as will as making it easier to see the small status display. Other than the small icons telling you which mode, this is a very nice camera that takes very high quality action videos. It is very small and light and easy to use when you have it in the right mode. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone wanting action videos of their bicycling, motorcycle, or skiing activities.
I bought this HD camera to replace a VholdR Wearable Camcorder (Black) which didn't survive getting run over by my SUV. The Hero is a well constructed camera, very solid feeling with quality construction.
Pros: The camera has four modes - video (in several resolutions), still pictures, self-timer still pictures, and interval photos (pictures every few seconds). The lens gives a tremendously wide wild view which is nice for HD's 9:16. It will shoot 1080p, 960p 720p (at 30 and 60 frames per second), and 480 (at 60 frames per second) line resolutions. It uses standard SDHC memory cards and has an internal battery which recharges via a USB cable. The recorded audio is very good both inside and outside of the motor sports waterproof case that came with my kit. Video is relatively good, not as vivid as a dedicated camcorder but the resolution is good. My kit came with a variety of mounts and a suction cup mount for windows and car body use. The waterproof case comes with two backs, one that is watertight and one that is not for better audio when waterproof use isn't required. The kit comes with connectors for connecting the camera up to an HDTV monitor (component video) or a TV monitor (composite video). A neat feature in the menu is that you can flip both the video and still photos so you can shoot with the camera upside down without a problem.
Cons: The quick release mounts have a bit of wiggle to them. The back of the waterproof case can be difficult to lock closed. The menu system is a bit troublesome to use as there are only two buttons and three LCD characters to use. Once set you'll not have to go into the menu very often.
Future: There's a connector on the rear that GoPro plans on using for an external battery or a monitor. Neither are available at the time of this review but they are being worked on.
In use on the trail the mounts worked very well. I used the suction cup primarily to mount the camera to my windshield, bumper, side body panel, and side window. Across rugged rocky trails the camera held firm and the video came out very well. The simple interface was easy enough to use. One button to turn the camera on and select the mode and another to stop and start the recording. - High Definition - Outdoors - Hd Camera - Hd Camcorder'

Nintendo Ds Games
I grew up on Super Mario Bros... Super Mario Bros 2... Super Mario Bros 3... Super Mario World... Super Mario 64... and then for a while I quit playing Nintendo. It was the time of PS2 and XBox, and I have not played a Nintendo game in several years now.
I bought my youngest son a Nintendo DS not long ago - and this was one of the games I got him for it.
Unlike most nostalgic feelings - this has been a real treat to revisit this part of my childhood. My son was playing it, and asked me to get him past a certain part. I was immediately hooked and continued playing until I had beat several more levels. Since then I have been grabbing his DS at every opportunity and playing further along - and am about halfway through the game so far.
It is classic Mario - if you ever played any of the original games you'll know the score - however new music, some new moves (downward slams, wall jumping, etc.) as well as delightful moments such as getting the super big mushroom which makes Mario as tall as the screen - while you laugh like crazy and burst through everything - walls, blocks, enemies, etc. like King Kong on crack add a whole new depth to the game - and keep the 80's classic fresh in its newest form. If you grew up on the old games like I did - you will squeal with delight when you see a new enemy that was only in a select level or two from one of the older games - that brings the memories back fresh.
I am extremely pleased at how such a classic character can be brought back in a fresh new way - and invigorate this franchise which is still going strong after two, nearly three decades.
I had absolutely no interest in the Nintendo DS and only bought my son one because he had been really good this year. Now that I've tried out this game - I find myself browsing through Amazon for new DS games to try.
I wholeheartedly recommend this game for the DS... although I will warn you that you will find yourself wanting to feed your new addiction with more games for the system. New Super Mario Bros.
There are sometimes where you look at classic video games, and how much they've impacting the gaming industry. While there are great games out there that have been well-receieved like Halo, Doom, Madden '06, and others that've really shown a great depth of universal appeal. That has definitely also been the case with Mario. Since 1981, as Jumpman in Donkey Kong, Mario has been the most universal of all the video game characters and personas ever, and continues to develop with the times. That also has been shown with the Nintendo DS as well. The breakout success of Nintendo's latest handheld system has really been a great transition to how we play video games on hand with the stylus, and appeal of the dual screen action. Now, Mario is set to have that classic feeling all over again.
New Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo DS brings a updated appeal to Mario, loosely based on the classic 2-D games he has been widely known for from Super Mario Brothers 1, 2, 3. and Super Mario World from the Super NES era. The object is just like the object from before, as you play Mario or Luigi, and try to go after Bowser and Bowser Jr. from stealing Princess Toadstool a.k.a. Peach. The game features over 80 different levels of exciting, and enjoyable gameplay. The game includes the classic moves from previous titles like the ground pounding (Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine), and the carrying turtle shells to defeat Koopa Troopas and Goombas (Super Mario Brothers), as well as new features like the mega mushroom which can turn Mario into a King Kong size, to really pound and knockout your competition. The graphics and the gameplay are just absolutely breathtaking and amazing, and really delivers what had been done from the early Mario titles before, while the sound is just purely classic. The control also is percise and in tune to each movement of Mario and company.
All in all, this is the second full length Mario adventure title to really deliver well for the Nintendo DS. Like what happened with Super Mario 64 DS did to showcase the brilliance of the DS, New Super Mario Brothers delivers the fun and appeal of a classic game, to a whole new generation of gamers. I definitely think this is one of the most definitive titles available for the Nintendo DS, and I really definitely think it should be a standard to your Nintendo DS library.
Graphics: A
Sound: A-
Control: A+
Fun & Enjoyment: A+
Overall: A 1/2+
I need to warn everyone that my wife and I are both old enough to have been fans of the orginal Mario... but we are still young to love the newest version in the series.
Sometimes you just have to get back to the basics - and that is exactly what happens with this newest Mario installment. Nintendo has taken the best features of the first three Super Marios (with some new features too!) and blended them into one great game.
Pros-
- All new version of an great favorite
- Interesting twists
- nice graphics for a hand held game
- Decent game length
- very fun mini games
Cons-
- Game isn't too challenging for your average gamer
- Most of the mini games are repeats
As a whole - the game is well worth the $35 and will supply many hours of great game play.
In the beginning Nintendo created Mario, and he was good. So good in fact that he's often credited with saving video gaming in the mid 80's. Mario wrote the book on side scrolling platformers but after years of ruling the roost decided to move on to the realm of 3D leaving others to carry on the tradition. Some pretenders to the throne were good and some not so good but in the back of our collective minds we all knew that Elvis had left the building. Well, the King is back and it's as if he never even left.
The oddly named "New" Super Mario Bros launches players' right into the action. After a short 10 second cut scene of the princess being kidnapped (AGAIN) `World 1-1' is ready to go and it feels so right after 15 years of waiting. There are Goomba's and Koopa Troopa's, toadstools and green pipes, swimming levels and fire plants and coins galore. To all those people who think that the graphics are only a slight improvement on Mario's previous side scrolling adventures I would urge them to pop Mario 2 or 3 into the DS and be amazed at the difference. The new adventure is much more vibrant, colorful and organic with toadstools that dance and sway and water graphics that are absolutely stunning. Mario has some new snazzy moves including the ability to bounce of walls and my favorite, the [...] stomp. Instead of smashing bricks from the bottom Mario can now drop from above and in the case of multi-coin bricks Mario can smack down on it and coins just pour out. Both of these are awesome additions that open up all new playing potential.
I have a few slight issues with the game. First, the side to side movement doesn't seem as tight as I remember from previous Mario games. Mario doesn't stop on a dime anymore, he kind of slides to a stop as if the levels were coated in a thin layer of ice. I suppose this is more realistic but it gave the game sort of a loose, floaty feel until I got used to it. The other issue I have is with saving. Rather than saving after every level you save intermittently when you cash in coins or finish a tower or castle. I'm not sure why they made this change but it seems like a rather poor decision on a system that's intended to be played in potentially short bursts.
Despite a couple of griping points NSMB may well be the greatest side scroller ever and a welcome addition to the Mario legacy. I can't tell you how much joy it brought me to play a new side scrolling Mario game and this has definitely been one of the toughest games on the DS to peel myself away from. Go get it and relive the glory years of Mario with an all new adventure.'

Scarlett Johansson - adventure, dvd-so so
No, I do not remember my SAT score, but I have taught enough high school students terrorized by the thought of how a four digit number could totally ruin their lives (i.e., deny them the college of their dreams) to realize that this is a tender subject. Which is why it is nice to report that "The Perfect Score" does take things seriously at the same time it is having fun with the paranoia. I might not be able to answer any of the SAT questions that pop up during the movie, but I do know that the screenplay by Mark Schwahn (creator of "One Tree Hill"), Marc Hyman ("Osmosis Jones") and Jon Zack ("Out Cold") is a lot better than I would have thought for a movie like this 2004 comedy. The story takes place in Princeton, New Jersey which is, oddly enough, where you find the Princeton Testing Center that is the home of the SAT exam (SAT stood for Scholastic Aptitude Test but one of the running gags in this film is the effort to come up with a more appropriate meaning to the anagram). The first SAT exam of the year has come and gone and Kyle (Chris Evans) discovers his score is too low to get him into Cornell and Anna (Erika Christensen) can apparently forget about her parents' dream of Brown. The next exam is in two weeks and since getting smarter in a fortnight is not likely, stealing the exam sounds like a good idea. Kyle's friend Matty (Bryan Greenberg), already bound for Maryland, is willing to help and they approach Francesca (Scarlett Johansson), whose daddy happens to run PTC and can provide a way in. The final members of the group are Desmond (Darius Miles), a basketball star whose mom wants him to go to college, and Roy (Leonardo Nam), a stoner who is involved only because he knows about what is going on. Now, in the real world stealing one SAT exam does not do you any good because there are several versions, so the person sitting next to you can have different questions or the questions are in a different order (or both). But that is besides the point in "The Perfect Score" and I ended up liking this movie a lot more than I thought I would for three reasons. The first I cannot tell you about because it would spoil the movie, but it has to do with an interesting twist on expectations. The second is the character of Desmond's mother (Tyra Ferrell), who has an impact on more than just her son. This film plays a lot with the stereotypes, from class brain to dumb jock to stoner, and I like the way Desmond's mother fits into that mold as well. The third is that this film comes up with a really, really great line about why not to be scared about the questions on the SAT, spoken, of course, by the most ironic character in the mix."The Perfect Score" is an enjoyable little caper comedy that certainly exceeds expectations, which is not a bad recommendation given most teen comedies today. The characters manage to avoid being stupid, a standard pitfall in the genre, although I suspect there are those who will be disappointed with the way things get resolved at the end. I also think it was nice that if Scarlett Johansson could not get an Oscar nomination for either "Lost in Translation" or "Girl With a PEarl Earring" then at least she got to do a decent "Matrix" takeoff in this film. Plus it was interesting to see Darius Miles who went to the pros instead of attending St. Johns University play a character who does the opposite, although it is ironic to see Mike Jarvis play himself since he had been fired from the St. Johns post by the time "The Perfect Score" was released. The Perfect Score (Widescreen Edition)
The film is all about the SATs and I'm surprised that ETS allowed them to make it. Certainly it makes ETS look like a company with a bunch of nitwits running it, and in addition shows that they have lousy security and any bunch of six random idiot teens could break in and get all of the answers to any particular SAT exam. Was product placement so important to ETS that they let the filmmakers run down their whole organization in this way? This is not even to mention the gfeneralized, pervasive indictment of the whole SAT system that the Scarlett Johansson character, Francesca, spouts throughout the whole movie and which is, indeed, the movie's most interesting selling point. It's like the FAHRENHEIT 911 of standardized testing.
Otherwise it falls into a slavish imitation of THE BREAKFAST CLUB, with a bit of HARRY AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE thrown in, redeemed by the presence of the divine Chris Evans, who makes every movie he's in an overwhelming visual and sensory experience, as though Aldous Huxley had released some pleasure-inducing "soma" gas into the ventilation system of the theater you're watching him in. Is he a real person, or actually a god come to earth to provide nirvana to the millions? Here he plays "Kyle," sort of a switch up for Chris in a way, as the thoughtful would-be architect who can't get good enough SAT scores to get himself into Cornell. ("Cornell University," the guidance counselor adds, just in case we were thinking it was Cornell Community College Kyle was aiming for.)
Chris has played characters called Jake, Adam, Ben, Bryan AND Ryan, Seth, Bryce and Johnny Storm, but Kyle is one of his best parts yet. A row of perfection, like clay ducks in a shooting gallery, each identical, all of them ideal.
I am a Scarlett Johansson fan and that is why I bought the movie and she did not disappoint me. This is much better than her performance in the Spider thriller/comedy movie. But this movie suffers from a script that was not thought all the way though and it needed more work on it before they went to production. Still, this is one of the first movies where Scarlett starts to show herself as a superstar. In fact she actually does a little bit of acting, rather then to just have that reflective lost in translation look on her face. - Adventure - Dvd-so So - Drama - Dvd'
