Cordless Tool Accessories - chargers, radio
I went out on a limb buying this with the problems that the older dewalt had and not having any reviews out yet, but this radio is awesome, its laid out real nice and really easy to use. everything from programing station memory to setting the clock on it are simple. the radio has a great dial for turning up/down the volume and changing stations. its damm loud, used it while a man was using a skidsteer 10 foot away in a horse stall and and i could still hear it clear and loud. the antenna is nice and swivels in a lot of ways and stays there. the display is clear and the clock comes quite in handy. the cord tucks away underneath the radio nicely. I bought this thinking i would never use the cordless function but was i wrong. i got 6 hours out of a older 18 volt that was pretty much charged. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a nice jobsite radio. DEWALT DC012 Worksite Charger/Radio
I am a self-employed handyman and count on my DeWalt tools on a daily basis. I am completely invested in the DeWalt line of cordless tools, and overall, am very pleased with the tool quality and durability. The radio/charger however leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Radio reception is poor. The tuning doesn't seem to stay "locked" on a station and drifts off after a while. It also doesn't seem to pull stations in very well that are farther away. More importantly, the battery charger is nearly worthless. Most of the time, I get the quick flash series indicating that the battery is no good and should be replaced. I put the same battery in a regular charger and it charges in 45 minutes with no problem. All other features are fine. I like having three outlets - a no brainer that should have been on the earlier model. Controls are fine and can be used with gloves on. For the job site radio, the sound is very good. Somebody else complained about the sound quality. Really!? If your job site is a cubicle, then by all means, forget this DeWalt and go for the Bose Wave radio. Bottom line, for the money, this radio should charge the batteries just as well as the stand alone chargers, and the radio tuner should be much better. If you don't have DeWalt batteries to charge, forget this radio. Your money can be much better spent. If you want to charge DeWalt batteries, forget this radio and stick with the standard chargers.
Note that this is the LATEST model (as of Aug 2010, anyway) of the Dewalt Work-Site radio, that charges LI-ION as well as the NI-Cads. This IS THE ONE YOU WANT, not the now-cheaper, older models. They won't charge LI-IONs.
Overall, Dewalt has the best work-site radio for 3 reasons: 1. It can be used as a charger, 2. It can run off of the charged battery if there isn't an electrical outlet available, and 3. It charges ALL Dewalt batteries. Li-ION, Ni-Cads, of all voltages. Dewalt has a huge advantage in the fact they have designed their older batteries (ie, a Ni-Cad 18V) to be compatible with the newer batteries (ie, a LI-ION 18V) of the same voltage. This certainly helps with the radio as well, since it can charge most Dewalt batteries made in the last several years. Most work-site radios only play from a fully charged tool battery; they DO NOT charge the batteries.
Now, for the radio itself:
Positives: Everything mentioned above, plus a very good digital layout and controls, and very rugged. Overall a very good design. The aux input for IPods, or other MP3 players, is really handy. They have resolved many of the issues of the older models.
Negatives: Sound is so-so. Not enough mid-range and treble sounds, too much base. Its acceptable, but not sure why Dewalt didn't invest in a little better speakers. Also, radio reception is just "ok". I hate it when you walk around a radio and the signal fades in and out. That's what this one does if the signal isn't super strong. Compared to other portable radios I have, the reception is weak. Not a problem if you have strong signals, but if they are marginal, you'll be wrapping a wire around the antenna.
In summary, I would buy it again, in spite of the sound quality and reception issues. It does what I need: Charges batteries, and plays a radio off of a charged battery.
So my bosses have owned the earlier versions of this radio. I always hated how it seemed the reception was disrupted easy.
I purchased this newer model hoping that would have been fixed one way or another. NOPE. the reception is still interrupted easily. And I don't know about everyone else but I hate hearing static while trying to listen to music.
I believe the bosh is a better work site radio.
Thanks
Just like the other model DC011, this radio has THE WORST TUNER. The secret was out a long time ago that Dewalt's tuner gets horrible reception. And they didn't even improve upon that with the release of this new model. How stupid is that? Anyway, go with the Milwaukee, Makita, Bosh, even Rigid which all have quality tuners.
I finally broke down and bought one of these. I've been a Makita user for years, but converting over to Lithium Ion has caused me to re-evaluate brand loyalty. In looking over website reviews and opinions, I've decided to work my way over to DeWalt. With that, the radio/charger seemed like a good place to start.
The radio is plenty loud enough, even for listening in noisy conditions. Volume won't be an issue folks. I've read some reviews about the volume being less or even insufficient when using the input jack (which I've used for ipods and even my iphone). If it is less, it isn't enough to cause any meaningful difference. My eight-year-old daughter had a pool party at our house right after I got this, and I hooked her ipod up to it so they could listen to her music outside. That badboy blasted for hours on an 18v Lithium Ion battery way loud (no distortion). It was probably half volume, and ten screaming eight-year-olds were swimming, dancing and singing to all of it all through the yard. Again, if volume is your concern, worry no more.
Some people have talked about inaccessibility for a second input jack near the battery or battery cover. Despite the fact mine appears to be the same model, I can't find any such input jack. Even if I could, you're only going to use one at a time, and the jack on the front works great.
Some people talk about the quality of the radio case. Yeah, it's not exactly bullet proof. If not for the "roll cage", I'm sure this wouldn't make it through a couple jobs or parties or camp outings. But the roll cage is there and it does seem to do the protection job well, so no big concern there.
I've read some comments about wandering stations (not holding the station tuning). I've used mine mostly with ipod input, but when I have used it for radio, it hasn't wandered or acted up in any way.
FYI-The battery case is folding-locked and there is a flexible metal band that holds pressure to the battery so it won't rattle.
And so in summary, the music quality is good (not excellent and not bad); the volume is way ample; the yellow case is cheezy but the roll cage is ample and seems capable of protecting it. Four stars because it's a good radio in many respects, but it's not yet the excellent sounding bullet proof jobsite radio. If it was a few bucks less, it might have earned a fifth star in my book. - Radio - Chargers - Cordless Tool Accessories - 18 Volt'

Silicone - cooking gadgets, poacher
I don't recommend these as the best silicone egg poachers--the poachpods are far superiod in terms of the end result. It's a great design with flat bottom so it doesn't roll over, and the little handles, but the egg doesn't come out as creamy and there isn't as much room in them as the poachpods so you can't add any ingredients like cheese or an extra large egg without it spilling over. too bad because I loved the design and price. 6pc Silicone Egg Poachers
Getting your eggs just right apparently takes some practice. Best to butter or spray pods with oil. Cooked in frying pan about 1/2 full of simmering water with lid on for approx. 5 1/2 minutes (large eggs) I made overdone first time, very nice second time, too runny third time. Poached egg whites are noticeably more tender throughout. Also no crusty edges you sometimes get with frying and much less greasy of course.
These have a little square foot on the bottom and will sit upright on their own.
I like the softer texture of the poached eggs and I'm hoping I can learn to consistently get properly done eggs out of these. Otherwise I'll abandon them. I'll get back to you on that...
I found a recipe for grits here: [...] This came out ok.
Does anyone else have any recipes for cooking in these?
I bought these egg poachers thinking they would be easy to use. The directions explain that they must be oiled/greased every time they are used. Even that isn't enough! The eggs stick in the cups and have to be scraped out of the cups.
They also require a lot of time to use. We eat our poached eggs with a 'set white' and soft yolk. This means that the egg poachers will take about 12-14 minutes to cook!!
After trying them several times, we decided they were just too much trouble to use. If they were actually silicone nothing should stick. Ours went in the trash!
The silicone egg poachers help create perfect eggs. No egg material is 'lost' by using this method, and frying pans are left squeaky clean. It creates the perfect egg, without fuss. I bought some for my living-away-from-home kids.
I was a bit skeptical when I ordered these poachers but I couldn't find the replacement cups for the one I had at home. There is a learning curve for these cups. It took a couple of times to get perfect eggs...but they are now perfect and we love the product. Would buy these again without hesitation. - Cooking Gadgets - Silicone - Egg Poachers - Poacher'

Vin Diesel - drama, drugs
STRAYS (or DOORMEN as his script was initially titled) marks the entry of Vin Diesel (AKA Mark Sinclair Vincent) into the film world in a very small budget (under $50,000.), independent 1997 movie he wrote, directed and acted the major role. To appreciate this very realistic, modest, slice of New York life the film presents, it helps to watch the features added to the DVD (the film is released to the public for the first time): interviews with the cast and with Diesel give a sensitive and heartwarming background that enhances the movie experience. Though Diesel studied acting and worked in theater in New York prior to this film, it was not until he made his own film that he captured the attention of the people who make things happen. And now that Vin Diesel is a major Hollywood presence it is fascinating to see this initial opener.
The plot is simple enough: Rick (Diesel) is a minor drug dealer who also works as a bouncer with his buddy Tony (F. Valentino Morales), and hangs with Fred (Joey Dedio) and his 'brother' (Mike Epps, in his first role in film). The guys live mainly for easy sex and camaraderie - all of the have been raised by mothers without knowing their fathers (thus, are 'strays'). As Rick matures he grows tired of his shallow lifestyle, misses the connection with his mother he never developed, and is prime bait for a relationship. Into his life steps Heather (Suzanne Lanza), a wholesome Midwestern girl, the two have a mutual attraction, but as their courtship dance progresses Heather disapproves of Rick's at times gang-like behavior and his drug dealing. They come together in an extended park bench conversation (excellent writing) during which they realize they each have repairs to do on their previous lives before they can enter a serious relationship.
One aspect of this little film that makes it a cut above the many others like it is the quality of natural acting Diesel draws from his cast: uncredited female actors who provide the sex interest for the men are variably excellent, and Morales, Dedio and Lanza are particularly strong in their commitment to ensemble acting. The script is fairly strong, though the barrage of expletives becomes tiresome after a while. Yet in the end, Diesel establishes his skills as a serious actor and as a fine director and writer, and for the chance to see one of Hollywood's major talents in his nascent stage, this film is well worth watching. Grady Harp, January 08 Strays
Wow, this movie was better than I expected. I thought it was going to be all about drug dealing and street thugs with a little romance in the mix. But I found it to be a romance story with a little street life in the mix. I found the character of Rick (Vin Diesel) to be very vulnerable and needing something more in life. He just wants to be loved, truely loved. Not just for the way he looks or acts but for who he is when he stands alone. I think the story shows that Vin can really embrace the role of a character who is romantic, and I hope to see more of him in these type of roles. Overall a great life changing movie and I was still thinking about some of the lines several days after watching the movie, so watch and enjoy.
This is a must see for any true Vin fans out there. It truly shows him in a new light.
His life, up until this point has been about sex, drugs, women, and beer along with his 'brothers' and friend.
They all grew up with out their fathers in their lives and it seems that the only thing they have is each other.
"Rick" is the oldest of the group and it seems he's the only one that has some responsibility and vision for the future. He's ready to grow up and leave his slutty ways behind.
He wants to fall in love and he knows that after so many women in his bed, that's it's going to be hard to find a special woman because, they are too innocent and pure for someone like him to touch and bring down.
He's a low level drug dealer and he "Doesn't do this for a living" but for some extra cash... though they never show any of them doing a REAL job and they never tell you what that job is.
It's all lies, especially out of "Tony's" mouth. He'll say anything or do anything to hook up with a woman and he had no remorse. He finds it funny when he ends up catching something but Rick flips on him. Finally, well hopefully making the others in their group see the light.
This is a very gritty, dirty and crass film. It is not for the family. It is unrated but it is about an NC-17.
If you only want to see the sweet Pacifier side of Vin, then don't bother with this. If you want to see what it was like growing up in NY in the mid 90 for a bunch of go no-wheres. If you want to see the intelligence and seamless conversations, albeit vulgar conversations, between true friends then get this.
Vin has so much talent and only a small part of that is show here. He made this film with little more than 40 G's and I've seen million dollar films that make this one look like Oscar winning roles.
Brilliant and raw. And that "Making of" is nice to see. Vin looks truly happy and it's almost as long as the film itself.
Strays goes beyond simple entertainment and accomplishes what every great work of art sets out to accomplish. It elicits previously hidden emotions from its audience. It communicates in a subtle and elegant fashion while maintaining a clarity of truth that can not be denied. Often the elegance of our lives is misunderstood or simply overlooked by the harshness of reality. This movie embraces the bitter and often ugly truth while quietly revealing the beauty and fragility of the human experience. This movie changed my perspective on life and if that isn't the true definition of art then I don't know what is.
You can't just watch it once and expect to see or understand the subtleties. The art, the passion, the feel of this movie is layered in by excellent writing, acting and directing. It is not a slam it in your face action movie that speaks to an ignorant audience. Strays asks the audience to sit with it and give it room to breathe its life and message in its own time and its own fashion. Like a fine wine, taken too quickly in large gulps one misses everything that makes it special, makes it a masterpiece. Strays will resonate with a generation and will easily become a classic. - Fatherless - Drama - Dvd - Drugs'

Digital Tuner - digital tuner, dual alarm clock
Nice $40 clock radio with a small footprint size that's a lot less money than some other high end brands. Lighted LCD with 3 levels of brightness and dual alarm display. Easy to use, decent single-speaker sound, good radio reception, good looks, and includes built-in line-in plug for external audio source (I use it in my bedroom and have the TV sound connected to this unit). Date and time were already preset correctly right out of the box. Very happy with this Sony clock radio and recommend it. Sony ICFC705 AM/FM Clock Radio (White)
The radio looks nice, is fairly compact, and has a very good display. The radio and speaker are also good for a unit of this size and price.
However, I was surprised about two things:
* The radio's digital tuner doesn't automatically seek to the next strong station like most radios - you have to manually stop at the right frequency. Once you've preset your favorites, this of course is less bothersome. Perhaps there's a way to do it, but I couldn't figure it out.
* The clock's "auto time set" feature is not what I expected. Perhaps it's just me, but I assumed this meant it sets the time from the NIST radio signals. That's not the case. Instead, the clock comes shipped with the correct time already set and kept current thanks to the built in battery. You just have to set the time zone if you're not in EST/EDT. Unlike with a real "auto time set" feature based on NIST signals, you will probably have to adjust this clock manually every spring and fall because the US keeps changing dates on which Daylight Saving Time starts and ends.
I decided to keep it since it's for my young daughter and she won't be as fussy as I am, but it would have been nice to see these issues noted in the product description.
I really wanted a clock with a nap function so I purchased this.
Pros
nap function-hard to find
replaceable battery
automatic time set
You can turn off the radio-alarm (no more noise), and it will remain set to go off the next day
Picked up all my favorite stations
Cons-nit picking
You can adjust the dimness to very low, but the large screen still gives off a bit of a glow at night, and the low contrast makes it difficult to read in day.
All buttons on top at rear sloping angle, with no tactile differences, can take a while to find the correct button.
Mono speaker sounds alright, but stereo would be much better
Nap timer can only wake to buzz (I think)
I would recommend it, the nap function alone is worth it.
We purchased the clock radio for use in the bathroom as a radio and iPod Player, it is just perfect. The large digital display is easy to read from any distance, meaning there is no chance of losing track of time while getting ready for work. The input jack makes hooking up your iPod/mp3 player a simple and straightforward process. The digital tuner was very important as we are able to hear our radio stations in perfect clarity without having to hand adjust. A great product.
I wanted a clock radio to wake me up in the morning with NPR morning news. It does that, the audio is extremely clear for voice, and the clock is extremely reliable and accurate. The sound quality is best for voice or music at low volume (it doesn't have a booming bass response). If I want a Bose sound, [...] The backlit time display is a bit bright, but that's fine as I no longer try to put my bottle of spring water on my eyeglasses. Think of it as a night light that gives you the time.
If you want a reliable, accurate clock radio to wake you up, and you want two alarms (one for M-F and one for weekends), digital tuning, and refreshingly clear sound, this is it. [...]
This one may be the best little guy around. Dual alarms, digital tuning, small footprint, good reception, adjustable light levels, mp3 jack (though no power in), AND a battery backup. We've had others, and, incidentally, bought about 3 different alarm clocks before we actually kept this one. Each other clock had its pitfalls: too bright, too big, buttons too hard to push, no battery backup (we lose power due to bad electrical in our rental once a month), or non-digital tuning. I never thought I'd become an 'alarm clock' buff, but this guy really has what it takes! The ONLY thing I can site as a down side is that the battery backup doesn't actually power the clock, just keeps your settings in memory when the power goes out (so if the power's out when your alarm is supposed to wake, you're sleeping in no matter what - oh darn).
Nevertheless, best clock we've owned! Unequivocal 5-stars!
The controls are very easy to use. The buttons are large, the design is intuitive, and there are directions on the clock itself.
The entire clock display is illuminated, which is a minus if you prefer a dark bedroom at night. On the plus side, it can easily be set to one of three brightness levels at a push of a button, and it's not too annoying at night on the lowest level.
The radio in the Sony ICFC705 is top notch. I live in an area near several broadcast towers, and most radios are swamped by their signal and are unable to tune in most stations. The ICFC705 manages to tune in most stations clearly and with decent sound.
Regretfully, if you want to wake to something other than radio, this is not the unit for you. Both the buzzer and melodies are at a preset volume that cannot be adjusted by the volume control (a very strange design decision that ruins the usefulness of this clock radio).
This wouldn't be too bad if they were loud or if they built up to a loud volume over time. But both the buzzer and melodies are rather quiet and will not wake a sound sleeper.
As a result of this design flaw, what would have otherwise been a rating of 4 or 5 stars (depending on how you felt about the display light) drops to 3 stars at best. - Alarm Clock Radio - Digital Tuner - Clock Radio - Dual Alarm Clock'

Hoover 5914-900 Clean Surge - steam vac, carpet cleaner
My decision to purchase this was mostly on price and gauging its ease of use.
Since renting one from the market is around $50 including shampoo, my thinking was this was an appropriate price to pay for this since after three cleanings, it's yours plus you don't have to return anything.
The other factor is ease of use. This is pretty straightforward. The top container holds the clean water and shampoo. After using, the "sucked up" dirty water is in the container at the bottom.
The Hoover here is nice in that both snap in and out pretty easily.
There are some things to keep in mind.
Try to use near boiling hot water (or a mixture of near boiling water and hot water from the faucet) - you will get a more efficent clean. Pour in the shampoo AFTER you put the water in the container - otherwise you'll get a slew of foam instead of being able to fill it with water to its highest level.
Afterwards, the things always leak some (maybe if you pay $400, it's not a problem) so as soon as you finish, take it outside and start to disassemble the thing. Then dump out the dirty water and hose off the dirty water container. If you can leave it outside for a while to let it dry as it will still drip a little.
This model will do about a 50' by 40' room or so before you need to refill with clean water and empty out the dirty water so if you have many huge rooms, this might not be for you ... or your help will grumble as you have to repeat :-)
If there are specific spots, you still need to spray it with one of those carpet cleaner sprays.
The hose attachment is nice for carpeted stairs but the main unit is pretty bulky so plan carefully so it doesn't tip over (water).
The only real con is that it be nice if the power cord was retractable but other than that, it does what it says it does and the two containers are easy to fill & remove.
Recommended. Hoover SteamVac Spin Scrub TurboPower Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5912900
I was hesitant that this would be a worthwile purchase because hoover makes some pretty junky vacuums, however, after reading reviews decided to buy it! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I have had this cleaner for approximately 8 months and have used it several times already, and it is truly amazing for a few reasons.
1) It doesn't truly "steam" carpet - BUT if you put some boiling water in reservoir with detergent it does improve cleaning, but I have cleaned with regular hot tap water with good results too.
2) You will be disgusted, amazed, and pleased at how much dirt this thing gets out of your carpets. Secondly, it really fluffs it up with the 5 rotating brushes.
3) Works great on removing stains quickly (I have an almost 2 year old) so, juice, milk, throwup, you name it! etc. It cleans it out completely. Clean surge also helps.
4) In a couple of hours (or less) the carpet is really DRY!!!
5) Finished carpet "feels" clean. You can get down on it and you just know it is clean like a line dried towel.
I haven't tried it on upholstery or car but will eventually. I am sure that it will do an equally fantastic job!
It is really addicting to use. I have used it probably 4 or 5 times already, no problems. It is true that it will leak a little after you are done with it, but it can easily be wiped up. Can't really complain that much about it. Results are amazing! I hope it lasts a long time. It is definitely worth the money considering what it costs to have it professionally done and also cost of renting a machine (which doesn't do half the job).
I have three dogs and have had a lot of traffic on my carpets. This steamvac cleaned the carpet areas very well. I was very impressed with the amount of dirt that it pulled up versus other steamvacs that I have used on the carpets in the past. It definatley works much better than the kind you can rent from the grocery store. The only issues that I had with it was that it took a long time to clean the carpets (had to go really slowly for it to clean well), but that could have been because the carpets were so dirty. The handheld cleaner for upholstery was a little bulky for small jobs.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Hoover offers an excellent warranty also.
This is great for about a year and a half, then it needs a lot of TLC.
First, you need to COMPLETELY clean out the collection chamber or it gets smelly. There are a lot of small corners, nooks and cranies that hold sediment in the collection chamber. They can't be reached with a toothbrush; you need a coat hanger with a rag wound around it. Also, if you have any pet hair or fluffy lint associated with your carpets, you'll need to disassemble the front part to get rid of the accumulation.
Suction is great until there is a year's worth of wear and tear. After about a year, the hose inside tore away from the fitting because there is insufficient 'slack' in the hose. THank goodness for duct tape. I'm now tired of retaping and am looking to purchase a new machine. (Not this one). Also, the accumulation as mentioned before seriously affects suction and its a nasty wet mess to take it all apart mid-cleaning.
The cap on the tank too is likely to lose its little rubber plug and you cannot use it any more to measure soap without dribbling all over the place.
The hand tool is only fair. You're better off squirting your steps and scrubbing them with a brush. It's good for sucking up the water.
I do like the brush configuration. THe round rotary brushes are much better than a single bar brush. These require a belt to drive them and the belts break easily.
Can you believe it - made in Canton, Ohio instead of China. I owned one of the $300 top of the line Hoovers purchased from a department store. Twice the upper clear acrylic tank had to be replaced - $55 a piece and then the bottom clear tank would not seal and the motor was going out according to the vacum shop mechanic. After reading many reviews of the top of the line models, I concluded that they are prone to break down and basically cheaply constructed. I asked the vacum store guy about it and he said that the expensive models in the department stores are made in China out of Chinese parts and he considered them junk. He recommended this basic model by Hoover which he claimed is rock solid, made of heavy duty parts in Canton, Ohio. The tanks are an opaque polymer which he said you can bounce on the floor and they won't leak. When I got it, the first thing I did was look at the label. Sure enough - "Made in the USA". Amazing. Cleans great. As far as the rinse feature on higher models, it means another tank and fittings and one more thing to go wrong. You control the exact amount of detergent being used - low tech but accurate and dependable. Since the directions said to let it dry before running a rinse I don't rinse anymore anyway. - Hoover 5914-900 Clean Surge - Steam Vac - Carpet Cleaner - Deep Carpet Cleaning'

Motorola Xoom Cases - motorola xoom cover, motorola xoom case
I am a middle-aged professional and have had my Xoom since release. Use it for both work and play. This case is nearly perfect. Looks great, fits great. Love the magnetic closure that holds the lid closed. Feels well-made and looks good. Well worth the money and better than that plastic Motorola case that doesn't fit well and scratches up your $700 toy. As for cons, the "catch" on the back to stand up the case looks like it might wear over time and the charger plug is not accessible when the case is closed. Still well worth it. CaseCrown Bold Standby Case for Motorola Xoom WiFi / 3G Model (Black)
Had my xoom since wifi launch, this is my 3rd case. This is the one i will be keeping. Fits almost perfectly, everything is reachable, save for the bottom ports when the case is closed but that's a constant in every review for cases I've read. I'm sure when I break the case in it'll fit to a t but this case works. Front camera hole is positined well and every light is visable. Buy this case if you don't want to spend the money for real leather.
This Case for Xoom is well made of sturdy material. It appears to be of high quality synthetic leather. All seams are aligned perfectly, and well sewn. Unfortunately it did not fit the product I attempted to use it for, but should fit the Xoom. The length is exactly 10" long as it should be for the Xoom. I ended up giving this case to someone, so cannot remark on the durability.
It's not "absolutely perfect" but it is a very good case. The Xoom fits fine in it and works well as a stand. It doesn't look cheap either. It just plain works, and for that price, that's all one can ask for.
I've had the case for several weeks and it seems to be holding up pretty well. It's not convenient for "portrait mode" but no case is. It's a good buy for the price.
The holes line up with the necessary LEDs, ports, and speakers with one exception. The hole for the front facing camera is too small and doesn't line up well. The case leaves a shadow on the video like a thumb in front of a camera lens. I enlarged the hole with an Exacto knife and it is fine now, but looks ugly and probably compromised the longevity of the case.
This fits better and more substantial than the Motorola default case. It adds protection while still allowing access to the functions. It provides a good standing platform, but only in landscape mode.
I had decided to wait a month or 2 for new folio-style cases to come out for the Xoom when I decided to buy this one as a temp because it was cheap. To my surprise, this case is great! If you want something simple and pretty low key, you cant really beat this price. VERY glad I didn't spend 2x as much on the similar cases. The stand could be a little better, but I wasn't too concerned with this option to begin with.
IF YOU WANT: Something inexpensive but solid that gets the job done, this case is perfect. It's sturdy and looks nice. It lacks that extra 10% of style/quality that more money will get you, but at half the price (in some cases, a tenth of the price), you can't beat it.
First of all, i don't believe in paying anything more than $20 for a case or sleeve, especially if it is the kind that is mass produce. Overall, i'm happy with this product, it fits well and have the approriate 'holes' or cuttings. The style is clean, and the section where you insert the flap/cover to make a stand doesn't stand out or not very obvious. I paid I believed about $16.99 before S & H. All in about $25.
I was on the lookout for a non-leather case for the Xoom that also looked trendy and timeless. This is the perfect item!
Before I bought it though, I was a little concerned because the image shows the Xoom in the "vertical" position, but none in the "horizontal" one. I knew that if I was using the Xoom without a keyboard, I'd prefer to use the Xoom with the stand in the "horizontal" position, and wasn't sure if this product would come through. But it did! So, I have two positions for my Xoom, and a classic case/protector to boot. In addition - all the cutouts in the case are perfect for the Xoom. Turning it on/off, charging, etc. are a breeze, as if the case isn't even there!
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that if I don't wedge the flap securely into the holder in the back, the case sometimes collapses. Could be user error, but it would be nice if their configuration ensured that this didn't happen.
Overall, I recommend this product! - Motorola Xoom Cover - Motorola Xoom Cases - Motorola Xoom Accessories - Motorola Xoom Case'

Swingline 3-hole-punch - x-acto, office supplies
Can't beat it for the price. Nice, simple, and does what it's suppose to do. It's actually even smaller than my other three hole puncher that I purchased from staples, in which I returned when I received this one. Not only is it smaller, but it's also half the price. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and so far im very happy with it. Highly recommended!! X-ACTO Economy Three hole punch with comfort grip - clamshell, Assorted Colors (1549)
It's one of the cheaper hole punches but is really good. It's supposed to have an 8-page capacity, but I can get away with more each time. It was delivered with no shipping fee when I bought it, so that was awesome.
Nothing special about this hole-punch. It works just like it should and does exactly what I need it to do. Only thing I don't like is the bottom cover tends to come off a bit easily, not a big deal though.
I really don't like to give bad reviews. But darn it, I'm really unhappy with this product. It worked for about a hundred or so sheets before one of the punches failed to go down all the way. That means the third hole only gets punched maybe 85% of the way. I wish this were a gem that did the job for a great price (it's really cheap). But alas, this is another case of "You get what you pay for".
This three hole punch, does the job it's designed for, but the only flaw is that it doesn't allow you to align the paper all the same. For example you can three hole punch it high on one set of papers, but then next batch of papers you might three hole punch it low. So when you put the papers into the binder, it doesn't align properly.
Though it was light weight and compatible, I wasn't pleased with the product.
As another reviewer said... They had issues where after about 100 sheets one of the punches didn't cut all the way through the paper. Well with mine it happened after about 20 sheets. I know this is super budget but still. It should last a little while longer ;)
Also - it doesn't have a page guide / stopper. This seems like a given. I want to punch in the same spot every time. In it's defense if you line it up with the base you can get pretty even punches. But I prefer a guide.
Try something else.
This X-ACTO hole punch is surprisingly well constructed given the price, and has performed with no problems at all. Although it's designed for 8 pages, I've managed to punch batches of 10 pages without any problems. The hole collector is easy to remove and empty, and it's quick to line up the paper before punching. It's much smaller than the previous 3-hole puncher I used, which is perfect for hiding it in the stationary draw when not in use.
I just received this product today and it absolutely doesn't work. It will only hole-punch the bottom hole, the top one doesn't even puncture the paper at all. I have never been so frustrated and annoyed with such a simple tool. I am usually very impressed with most of my Amazon purchases (even the cheaper items), but I will definitely be buying a different one. - Punches - Office Supplies - 3 Hole Punch - X-acto'

Camo
We bought this set as a baby shower gift - usually I receive amazon orders in 3-5 days, but this one took more than a week. It is absolutely gorgeous especially the "boots idea". Very soft cotton. I also liked how well it was packed in box which stated "camo baby" (u can see it on a pic). So no need to buy a gift box.
I wish somebody made such a gift to my son on a baby shower :) Baby Aspen "Big Dreamzzz" Baby Camo Two-Piece Layette Set in "Backpack" Gift Box, Tan
The colors are much more subdued in the photo on-line than what they actually are in person. The dark green is incredibly dark and makes the light green look that much more like chartreuse green. Also, the fabric seems a little more stiff than I would prefer for infant clothing, but I can only assume it is from the dyes. Overall, the product is cute, but not completely what I expected it to be.
I bought this for my newest niece. My boyfriend is in the National Guard and is deploying to Iraq in May. My niece was born in November and is now big enough to wear it to support Uncle Cory. It looks absolutely adorable on her! It came in a little camo box, so I didn't even need to wrap it. Great outfit!'

Outdoor Wireless Speakers
I was searching for wireless speakers for an outdoor event, and I'm certain these will do nicely. While it's true that the transmitter needs to be plugged into the music source (via a standard headphone jack that will fit all devices I would need it to) and into a wall outlet, I expected that. For a test run I plugged into my laptop sitting in the middle of the first floor then slotted 6 AA batteries into the speaker and turned it on. It automatically picked up the signal. I took a walk around the house and got about 100' away and still got good signal. I also like the feature to select L,R,or Mono on the speaker itself. Bass boost helps the sound a lot. Also, I was able to run 4 speakers from 1 transmitter. Don't know yet about interference or battery life for the speaker. I love the aesthetics of it. Audiovox Acoustic Research AW825 Mission Style Wireless Speaker (Bronze)
Easy to set up, resonable effective range, good sound for a small speaker package, and a good looking package. For what it is, and the price we paid, this is a great deal. If you want great sound from a $500 speaker system, then buy a $500 speaker system. This unit fills a specific need. It is portable, wireless, and rugged enough to be used outdoors. It does all that for $70.
I purchased this item for somewhat of an unusual use. I have and extensive collection of digital nature sounds and use the device to attract birds and other various wildlife for photographing. I feed audio signals with a simple MP3 player loaded with various bird songs. I throw a rope over a tree branch and hoist the AW825 up to a particular level then move back and begin selecting bird voices. I was surprised how the birds reacted. It is very easy to attract Downy Woodpeckers, Red bellied Woodpeckers, and even Pileated Woodpeckers. Nuthatchers go crazy trying to figure out who is in their "turf". It's a lot of fun and I have gotten great wildlife shots. I even attracted a flock of Turkey. So far I have no complaints. I have not had it exposed to any bad weather conditions but it is nice to know that a little rain may not hurt this device. The range is acceptable (I have gotten clear signals beyond 150'. I just wish the volume was a bit louder.
I purchased this outdoor speaker for my patio. Worked great right out of the box. Hooked the transmitter up to my pc and it pick up the signal right away. It's been outside a few months now and still works great. It actually gets REALLY loud. Much louder than I expected. Great little unit. I may upgrade to the one with the light built in later. It would be nice to hang it up and have light/speaker combo as the patio light.
Very nice product and east to install.
The wireless speaker is in my backyard. The transmitter is hooked to my computer that is running iTunes inside my house. There is a free iPhone application, "Remote" that can control itunes. So I just use my iPhone from the backyard to adjust volume and select songs. Anyone that I have given access to my WiFi and iTunes can also select songs and adjust volume. Great for parties.
I researched and read all the reviews on similar products and selected this one. We just love it. We have Direct TV and wanted a speaker to connect to our receiver so we could listen to Direct TV satellite radio and baseball games outside. This connected in minutes, auto tuned instantly, and delivered a great sound. The only drawback was that the batteries didn't last as long as suggested. We began to get static so we plugged it in and we were back in business. I'm thinking of purchasing these for other family members.
Bought this as a gift, maybe didn't look at the description close enough but it is only one speaker.
Set up was pretty easy, setting this up as a standard speaker option for your stereo and not just your ipod may require a trip to radio shack but since I had an extra set of RCA to RCA connections handy I was able to run right this straight off the tuner as another speaker.
In the configuration I installed this in it is running mono and most will be powered via DC (until the 6 AA batteries die). I have no idea what running two of these in stereo would entail. Possibly could use the same transmitter but that is unclear...definitely research further if you want to run more than one speaker (mono).
Sound quality is really good and seems to play fairly loud. Not sure how long batteries would last for multi-hour a rip-roaring party.
Bottom line...this is a great product for extending the party outside with a simple mono 1-speaker set up. If you want multiple speakers in multiple locations you'll need to research further.
I'm looking for background music outside on my deck. I'm not looking for house rocking, neighbor bugging, police provoking sound. I also don't want crappy, tinny laptop speakers either. My options are 1)drill a hole through my solid concrete walls and brick exterior, hook up to my AV system in the basement, and run wires to permanently installed speakers or 2) a portable wireless option or 3) a portable iPod dock. Option 1 would obviously be the BEST sound quality wise, but at a major premium. So I'm willing to compromise a bit on the sound for a simple, less costly option. Option 2 works better for me because I can control everything through AirPlay and not have to dock my phone. (see below)
These were the most attractive wireless outdoor speakers. Two separate drivers is always a plus. I wish they would use bigger batteries for a little more power, but for my deck, there is plenty of sound (for background music). I ordered one at first to be sure I liked it, I just ordered my second for stereo sound. One reviewer mentioned that he runs 4 speakers. The transmitter is a simple radio antennae- ie there's no pairing (that I know of), I'm guessing you could connect as many speakers as you want.
The sound is comparable to a midrange iPod dock. Not as good as my Klipsch dock, better than my old JBL dock. The low end suffers a bit, but you knew that. If you want to FEEL the bass you need a powered subwoofer. The bass boost does a decent job of keeping the speakers from sounding tinny. Vocals are clear, helped by having two drivers.
I have the transmitter hooked up to my airport express, so I can play music from my computer, through the airport, and control it with my iPhone on the deck- Perfect! The transmitter is about 30 ft away, one level down and through a concrete wall and works well. There is a hint of interference at times. When it's in the room directly adjacent to the deck (and through a framed wall) it does work better.
Our phones are DECT, and the router is 2.4/5 Ghz, so should not have wireless interference from these.
Plus, with the second speaker I get a second transmitter to hook up somewhere else. There is a switch on the back to change the speaker from L or R or mono (both). You can run these off battery power or plugged in. I may use it as a sound machine in my room (again through Airplay) since I don't have a dock for my phone in there.
They do make a very similar product that you can hardwire into the house, it also has a built in light, but from what I could tell the speaker specs were identical, and I want more than a single 40W candle bulb outside.'

Internet Radio
This is a great device. Finds the online shows I listen too all the time on my computer, even strange music station I listen to. Some great features, like auto connect if you go out of range, auto connect to different routers to the strongest one too.
Does play am radio, through wifi. Plays local radio stations am/fm through wifi as long as your local station broadcasts online. In my area most of them do. The separate fm tuner works great, very clear. No separate am tuner though. All searching, password entering etc must be done on tiny screen, hard to read some letters but its okay. Menu could be done better, but once stations are programmed in the memory its easy to use. Just takes a while to scroll through thousands of stations. So far mine does not connect to the computer at all. I had read another review stating it does, but mine doesnt. Only has a usb charging cable to power it. Also has internal battery. About the size of 1st gen i pod. Speaker sounds great, though wish it would of been stereo. About 1 inch diameter speaker.
Most of these wifi radios look big, seem to need to be plugged into outlets. This one runs off batteries and is very small. Will be perfect when I go all over the house, wont miss any of my radio shows. Mutant MIG-PIR-1 M-Wavio Portable Pocket-Sized WiFi Internet Radio with AM/FM Radio (Charcoal)
This product has great features, a good looking design, works well and seems to be solidly built. I bought it because I could not find any apps that would allow me to listen live to radio station of my choosing without carrying a computer. It is a much better solution than a smart phone since it has a speaker, allows access to just about any radio station in the world, provides 10 easily programmed presets and unlimited favorites via the vTuner website interface. WiFi reception seems as good as with MacBook Pro or iPod Touch and the sound quality through earphones is fine. Mutant's customer service via email was excellent - they provided a working URL for one NPR station I couldn't find. Looking forward to using this when travelling (small, completely portable, long life internal rechargeable battery - all at a good price). Now - if only it had a custom neoprene case it would be perfect.

Here's what you have to know before you buy this.
IF you are looking for a certain radio station, and know the name, etc. Go to VTUNER website, and do a search. EVEN any future 'Firmware updates' are installed directly from the radio itself...
Simple, and the BEST features and quality I have seen.
I have been searching for months to locate a small, PORTABLE Internet Radio so I can listen to all the fun going on at KJUL FM 104.7 in Las Vegas. Scott Gentry, a former in-country Armed Forces Radio D.J. during the Vietnam War has a great radio station, and a personality to match... and with this Mutant Radio, I first searched VTUNER website for the station... and poof, there it was. :-)
[] THE Best feature with this radio compared to other Internet Radios, is that Once you set your favorite station as the 'Default' station. You first Turn ON the radio by pushing and holding down the 'POWER ON' button for 3 seconds (cute LED stripe in the photo flashes) and then the radio starts playing your 'Default Station' instantly!!
The radio does also have an 'FM' section for your ** LOCAL FM radio stations *** in your area, but my goal was to find an Internet Radio player that was small and portable. THIS IS THE DEFINATE WINNER!!
Great features, easy as heck to setup, searches for your WI-FI, then you scroll the letters/number for your WI-FI password. Once you input your WI-FI Password, it won't ask ever again for it Fast and EASY. [ "No" it does NOT have any ethernet cable input jack, strictly operates via WI-FI (wireless) ONLY. Great reception from your WI-FI router.
IF you want to hear this radio in STEREO, you can get an adapter cable to connect this to your stereo amp, or just plug in your amplified speaker jack into the existing 3.5mm headphone jack on this radio. -=- Plugging in Stereo headphones, will allow you to hear STEREO.
#[Speakers, External] I am using my Sony SS-B1000 5 1/8 Inch Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) speakers via the earphone jack (with no external amplifier!):
Sony SS-B1000 5 1/8-Inch Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)
and they are working plenty LOUD enough using the volume control on the Mutant Internet Radio. Nice STEREO and full bass/treble sound coming out of the Sony speakers
This radio has a great FULL, Loud, CLEAR sound from the single 1 1/4" speaker, and a 3.5mm standard earphone jack on the right side. What a pleasant surprise to find this Internet Radio. Where has it been all my life! The audio sound from this radio is much better than my $500 Asus 1215N laptop's speakers!
There is only ONE internal [ 1 1/4" (31.75 mm) 2 watt ] SPEAKER,
NO Earphones included with this radio. A standard earphone/headphone 3.5 mm jack will fit this
* I uploaded a photo of all that is included with this purchase.
Internal Rechargeable Battery [1500mAh Li-ion polymer] charges quickly from any USB connector you have, Laptop, plug-in wall adapter USB charger, car cigarette lighter to USB adapter... NO Proprietary cables or jacks so that alone is a pleasure.
I also have the Aluratek Clock Radio internet radio, but it can't be moved around like this one. This radio is SMALL, POWERFUL, & PORTABLE.
Awesome find for sure. Set your station, and click the 'LOCK' slide switch so nothing gets moved while you are connected, Nice feature.
Remember to check out VTUNER (aka: Vtuner portal) website for the thousands of stations available, then click "Buy Now" at Amazon, th Best mouse click I ever made!

Desk Organizer - desk organizer, cords
I reluctantly ordered the Wiremate after reading a series of mixed reviews - most of which were very poor. But since there isn't much else on the market - except the Cable Manager which I already own (works great, but all wires are exposed) and the Belkin Concealed Surge Protector (which I own and LOVE, but doesn't have much room for wires), I tried it.
Am I happy with the Wiremate? YES
Since there is basically nothing else out there, the Wiremate will have to do. And it does its job rather well.
No wiree stick out when wrapped correctly.
The cover snaps on easily, but remove the cover carefully to avoid snapping the thin plastic tabs (as other reviewers have done). The tabs could release much easier.
Yes, the plastic is thin, but it is not flimsy. I have a modem, 2 routers, and a portable WD harddrive sitting on top (with the wires inside) and it looks great with no sag.
The wiremate is big! Bigger than I expected. But the look is clean enough that it isn't an eyesore. Plus you can mount it out of sight if desired.
So, all in all, I am very happy with the wiremate. I would give it 5 stars if the plastic tabs weren't so poorly designed. Until something better comes along, this will have to do. Wiremate Cable Organizer Black
Wiremate Cable Organizer, Black
While this product does help with wire clutter it isn't the absolute solution. It did nicely tidy up the cables between my laptop and second monitor, but it seems to only work well in situations where all your hardware sits very close together. I guess I would have to purchase another one to organize the cables for my routers, modem, and external devices.
This product is very average. It is difficult to figure out the right length of cord to wrap so that the cord can reach the outlet and also the computer or other electrical device. By the time I had all my cords in it, the lid wouldn't fit on and some cords are too tight and the organizer won't sit on the floor. It also is not very durable -- it is just made of cheap plastic. It did help with my cord clutter but I think there is probably a better system out there.
I've been looking around for a simple cable management for a while now. I took a chance with this one and I'm glad I did. It was real simple to use. I was just using twisty ties on them but I needed to conceal it.
I separated all the wires and worked with one wire at a time. Got all the slack out of the wires. Its nice that you can wrap them any way you can to pull the slack out. Once all the wires were in there. I simply put zip ties to to hold them all together. Finished it looks really good.
I'm a Gamer and a pc enthusiast so I have a lot of stuff on my desk with a whole lot of wires. This works perfectly.
The quality is alright. The plastic feels light and flimsy. No big worry since my desk sits against a wall and nothing is going to hit it in fear of cracking the cover. The tabs you wrap the wires on could be stiffer with tabs sticking out a little further to hold wires on so they don't slide off. Other then that I'm happy with it. Its cheap and simple.
I'm kind of torn in this review. After I finally got everything wrapped up in it and was able to get the cover on, it was perfect. Just what I was looking for. But getting to that point was a bit of a pain.
If you're using this for computer cables or something, you probably would have a better experience. I was using this for TV and home theater cables (mounted to the back of a tv cart type of thing). This included a couple speaker cables (small), HDMI cables, Component Video cables, and various power cables. Maybe I was just trying to use it for more than it was intended - but with some of the cables being of higher quality - that made them a bit thicker and not as malleable. And I could easily just blame this whole thing on the cables... but I was really hoping this organizer could handle them.
Problem was that as I started to wrap more cables around this, it became difficult to find a good path to wrap the rest of the cables - especially the larger ones like the heavy duty component cables and some of the power cables. It took a lot of effort and thought on my end to get things to fit and I was afraid to move any single cable, lest I then have to move many more.
Eventually I got it all to fit, and it looked great. But for the amount of effort I had just put forth, I debated if it was really worth it. Like I said, any other situation and this is probably a fantastic product. But I wouldn't recommend it for any sort of home theater.
I have 2 PC's and 2 monitors as well as an external HD, router modem and a host of other items that need to be plugged in. The wife was tired of seeing Medusa behind the computer so I purchased this and was able to hide just about all of the wires inside the box and behind my desk.
It's much neater now..
"The product is great. The cables and wires coming from my computer, HDTV, xbox 360, ps3, cable box, sound system printer and all other accessories were hanging on the wall and looked horrible. I really didnt know what I could do to conceal all those wires. This product was really easy and held the wires with ease. It is a tad flimsy but it doesnt matter. It works great and now all those long cables are no longer scaling up my wall and my office looks so much cleaner. I would recommend this product A+++"
"This product was intended to be mounted on the back side of a desk. Since all our PCs are on top of cabinets, we set the Wiremate either to the back or the side of each computer. The amount of wiring that will fit inside these little boxes is incredible. You still have wires entering and exiting the Wiremate, but you have so much less to clean, it is worth the inconvenience. There is also a feeling of increased security of the wiring itself. Great product. Additionally, this is the least expensive website I've found for this product." - Desk Organizer - Organizer - Cords - Cable Organizers'
