Coleman Powermate 18v Battery

The Pack Works OK But Be Very Careful To Make SURE That The Polarity On Your Charger Is The Same As The Battery Polarity. This Battery Pack Has The Positive And The Negative Connections Reversed. Your Pack May explode If You Don't Check For This Condition. The Other Problem I Had Is That It Works great As A Flash Light ONLY. Because Of The Polarity Reversal It Will Not Work With Any Power Tool. I Had Bought The Item To Use With My Coleman Power Tool Set. I Really Don't Understand Why They Are Reversed. I Stumbled Across That Situation Purely By Accident. But I Am Very Glad I Did. Like I Said Before Works excellent As A Flash Light Because polarity Does not Matter It Is A Single Filament Short Circuit. I Also Opened The Pack up to see if It Could be reversed Back. But The Way They Are Spot Welded It can't Be Done Easily. This Pack Is The Same Configuration As The Coleman Pack Except You have To Remove The Batteries From Their Original pack And install Them in The Cole Pack Containers. The ONLY Difference Is The Polarity Reversal. I Priced The Batteries As If I Were Going to make My Own pack but They Came Out Costing Much much More. The Price Of This Pack Is Absolutely The Best price For 1.3 AMP HR Nicads There Are 15 Batteries In This Configuration. (15 X 1.25 = 18 Volts). 18V Replacement Battery Pack'

Cold Weather Accessories - scarves, exercise

I bought one these Turtleneck warmers for me amd one for my husband. The first weekend ride on our bikes this year was in January. Very cold. Will not ever pull out without them in cold weather now. I actually was breathing hot air on my glasses from this thing. It is a super warmer. Then I bought two more, one for my son, who works outside in the weather and another one for another motorcycle rider. Turtle Fur The Turtle's Neck Neckwarmer, White - Scarves - Exercise'

William Stanek - scripting, william stanek

This book has a good balance of foundational information and practical applications of Powershell 2.0. If there was a version of this for Powershell 1.0 I wish I had known about it. :-) The author assumes that you have some background in scripting so it doesn't come across as a pure beginner's book. The book provides practical examples for Powershell in the Windows environment and some background information on each subject. It has an appropriate balance between detail and maintaining a "big picture" view of teaching you about how to use Powershell.

The only request I make of the author in a future edition is to provide a little more coverage on loading assemblies through the Reflection.Assembly class. This is a minor issue though because he does discuss when to use it and of course one can always consult the online Microsoft documentation for additional methods.

Some of the big pluses in the book include a "real world" view and I particularly liked the quick overview of SQL Server support and how to add the supporting snapins to the basic Powershell environment - that saved me a lot of time!

Overall, one of the better books out there on the subject for those interested in a hands-on approach. Windows PowerShell(TM) 2.0 Administrator's Pocket Consultant

I assumed the book would focus on a bunch on PS One-Liners for basic administration tasks. Stanek proved me wrong, he jumped into key points that I assumed would have been left out because of the nature of the book e.g. "quick and dirty guide to just get it done". He proved me wrong. He touched on the skills required to actually write PS scripts, manage profiles and moved beyond just the quick PS One-Liners that you find in other books.

Another job well done by Stanek. I own every pocket consultant he has ever written. I even own second editions and almost own all of his non pocket consultant titles.

His books are a must have for any seasoned Windows IT administrator. Owning one of his books separates the men from the boys.

William Stanek never ceases to amaze me with how much great info he can pack into his pocket consultants. There's not one that's not worth it's weight in gold and I mean that. His are the only books I've ever read front to back and then gone back in for a second or third read with highlighter in hand. Everyone in IT I work with has at least one of his books if not several and sometimes several copies of the ones they have.

I bought three copies of this and three copies of Active Directory® Administrator's Pocket Consultant (Administrators Pocket Consultant). I kept one of each and gave out the rest in my last staff meeting. There are no other books I will buy for my team, because no other books are as good. I am also grown up enough to admit knowledge I got from his books over the years are what earned me multiple promotions.

What makes this book so good is its relentless focus on what matters and the deep level of technical information William shares. William knows Windows and Microsoft products better than any 10 other tech experts on the planet put together.

No other Group Policy book I've ever read has been as good and what's even better is William does this in less than 320 pages. The 600+ page book I had before this didn't explain half of this even half as well. I'll finish by also saying this book should be used with William's Windows Server 2008 Inside Out.

This Book has it all right at your finger tips! Microsoft has done a superior job in expounding and down to the depths in PowerShell 2.0 with details, details, details - with How to's including images. Including the important information(s) of the possibilities "if you do this, then you might experience that" - with cautions, warnings, et cetera.

I MUST STRESS THIS EMPHASIS - Please take your time in reading this book! Do not rush through this, having a highlighter, colored pencil, write in it, make notes even though it comes with notes - read it all over again. While it does discuss both PowerShell v1.0 and v2.0; you will learn about both as well as the differing betwixt the two which can be very important to know in various areas. Especially for Businesses and Corporations that are working with both 64 bit and x86 aka 32 bit platforms.

I strongly recommend this book - this one is not going to be the one to be "thrown away or tossed aside" for one will want to return back to it for it is loaded with answers if one were to ever "run into a jam", in my humble opinion.

Out of all the Windows 2008 books I have, this one stands out as the best. William Stanek is a great writer, and has put together a stellar book that should be required reading for every System Administrator!

As a newbie to this subject I found this book very worthwhile to have and use while scripting. Organization is good although could be improved in a few places, particularly given how powershell is alot like C#.

This book is a little like the circle line tourist boats that navigate around the island of Manhattan. You get a big picture but not much else.

This book is primarily for command-line hackers only. It may get you jump-started into the subject of PowerShell but after that you will require a long slow charge to get up to speed. Most of the subjects are given brief discussions only and most of the code examples are simply snippets.

When I purchased this book, I was searching for a start to scripting in PowerShell. This book touches on scripts but

it is aimed primarily at sysadmins (as the cover states). If you are a developer, look elsewhere. The best tome I've discovered is Windows PowerShell 2.0. by Don Jones. It's a lot more expensive but how much is your development time worth?

I have 2 of this book because my first one was borrowed by a friend and didn't return it! Told him he can keep it and just got another one. It's a good reference for beginner and quick reference guide for advanced administration. - Windows 7 - Scripting - Administration - William Stanek'

Latitude Battery - dell, d630

I purchased this battery through one of Amazon's third party sellers. In less than two months it was completely dead. Amazon instructed me to contact the manufacturer, a company in CA called Dek-Cell. However, their customer service department refused to issue a refund because the battery was not purchased directly from them. The "seller"-- Sound Around-- does not list any contact info on its profile. So, in light of the battery's dodgy performance and the manufacturer's unwillingness to take responsibility for its defective product, I strongly urge Amazon shoppers to avoid purchasing this product. Brand New Replacement Li-ion battery Dell Latitude D620 D630 Series Laptops

Perfect replacement. Just a couple of clicks and I was up and running. I've had it for quite a few months now and it seems like its holding charge very well still.

14 months after purchase:

Battery is done for! Only holds charge for about 15 minutes. It did last me just about as long as one of Dell's batteries though. If you're looking for a fix, this product will definitely do it. Just try to use your charger when you can and i'm sure thats easier on the battery. All in all, I think buying a cheap replacement like this is worth saving money on dell's prices.

Got this AND a secondary bay battery for my latitude D630, for less than half the price of the Dell OEM battery. When using these TWO new secondary market non-OEM batteries together, I get 5 or 6 hours (but without use of DVD in the secondary bay). This battery alone gives over 4 hours of use. Been using it a month or so without any problems or deterioration in life. Maybe it will lose holding power in a year (like my Dell OEM battery)...if it does, I'll get it recycled (don't throw away batteries! Bad for the environment!) and get another one of THESE batteries. I'll pay $30 or $40 per year for a new battery...but don't want to pay Dell $120 per year for the same thing!

This battery arrived on time and fit perfectly the first time into my Latitude D630. I choose the generic battery option after seeing Dell was charging 3 times the price for a replacement battery. Even though it fit perfectly you get what you pay for. Ironically this battery seems to have 1/3 the capacity of my stock Dell battery that came with my laptop. It works great as a backup power source for brownouts and power outages, but don't plan on extended battery life. I get about 2 hours of battery life while running menial tasks.

Conclusion: You may need to buy 2 of these to get any long term power away from an outlet, but it would still be cheaper than buying 1 new battery direct from Dell. If you want extended battery power and don't want to lug around an extra battery then buy a good one from Dell the first time. Personally I'm satisfied since I'm usually connected to a/c power and this just protects my work from a sudden loss of power.

As you will have to buy a new battery once a year, you may as well save some money by buying this brand. The battery is compatible with my Latitude D630. Osprey Talon gave me what I believe to be a good deal on both the new battery and the replacement cord. No complaints yet!

I received this battery on time with no delays in shipping. I installed it in my Dell 620 and charged it.

The battery performed as advertized However; I did notice It weighed less than the original. Perhaps there are fewer cells in it than the original battery or it's made from cheaper materials only time will tell if it will last the full 2 years or so. Note :

Update. The battery Lastes for about an Hour before it shuts down. The recharge went OK so Far so good. - Dell Battery - Laptop Batteries - Dell - D630'

Smokedetector - kidde, smoke detector

Purchased five of these for use in our personal home with the intent to buy more for rentals if they performed well. Really liked the idea of having a voice warning that tells what the problem is and was thrilled at how easy the installation was...for about 48 hours.

About two days after initially installation, started getting a "beep" but no voice indication of low battery/other. We always keep spare batteries in stock so decided to replace the batteries with fresh ones and problem seemed to go away. Temporarily.

A few days later the alert goes off again which of course, signals ALL of them to go off as they are interconnected. This time it indicates a dead battery. Odd since we replaced them but figured our batteries may have been older than we realized. Went to the store and bought all new batteries - replaced in all five units.

A few nights later - about 2 in the morning - we get a full fledged alert with the 'WARNING -FIRE!" screeching through the house. After peeling ourselves off the ceiling, we took down the one main culprit and figured that one may be a lemon. Since we have five in the house, we still felt it may be an isolated problem...EXCEPT

The Next night we get yet another screeching alert...."WARNING - Carbon Monoxide". It should be worth mentioning to note that we had NO fireplace burning and do NOT cook or heat with anything other than electricity. In fact, nothing was running whatsoever.

At this point, we're exhausted from several nights of interrupted sleep and all of these are going back. The good news is the interconnected portion works. The bad news is the constant false alarms will leave you likely to take them down in order to get a full nights sleep.

In all our years of smoke alarms these have given more false alerts in just a couple weeks than the past 20 years combined. SKIP~! Kidde KN-COSM-IB Hardwire Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup and Voice Warning, Interconnectable

Replaced a 10 year old BRK Smoke Detector...This Kidde is Great! Hookup took less than 5 minutes, just replaced old pigtail connector, with the included Kidde connectors. The Kidde base feels more sturdy and the sure-lock twist design guaranteed a perfect fit. The Kids love the "voice" warnings (test mode) for Fire & Carbon Monoxide...I also love the visible 120v power indication (green light). Did I mention that Amazon.com has the best price on this unit...yeah, pick one up!

The product is a great idea to combine both detectors in one. The voice portion that sounds is quite clear as to whether it is smoke or carbon monoxide. In addition the installation was quite easy for the do it yourselfer. Lastly, it was delivered with a battery installed...what a novel idea!!

For those concerned about previous mfr date issues with reviews, my units were manufactured within 45 days of my purchase date -- which is actually extremely reasonable. I'm guessing that wherever these are manufactured, they are taking a boat trip at least once before hitting a warehouse to wait for me to purchase.

I recently replaced my 10 year old BRK detectors around my entire house. I installed the Kidde PI2000 dual sensor detector in each beadroom and a Kidde KN-COSM-IB smoke and carbon dioxide detector in the hallways in the basement, first and second floor hallways.

I researched first alert, brk, and kidde, mostly because I could see them at my local big box hardware store. I chose Kidde becuase it had more features for the wired-in detectors than both first alert and brk. First alert appears to have focused their current lines on battery only units and wireless communications. Brk also had limited options in dual sensors or combo CO detectors in a wired setting. Since neither first alert or brk could supply both a photo sensor/ion wired unit AND a dual CO and smoke wired detector that communicated together, I chose kidde detectors. I wanted them all to communicate and mixing and matching product vendors makes communications between the units impossible.

There are no pretty dual detectors that exist on the market. These are nice and boring and don't draw attention. They have a working hush button. That's a new feature that I appreciate. I haven't ripped one of these off the ceiling once yet to get them to stop their alarms.

I've never done a smoke or CO test. I'll let the experts run those tests. My only tests are using the test button. But it works as identified and is loud. The voice alarms in the COSM unit is good for the hallways and will supplement the normal alarm well. Children are reported to respond faster to "Fire!, Fire!". I've been know to sleep through my daughter's baby monitor on one of her bad nights... There's no way I'm not going to hear both the voice and the piercing alarms

DIY info:

Since I was replacing an existing AC wired solution, I wanted to continue to have the security of both AC power and battery backup. The best feature by far of this wired in solution is that all detectors are wired to communicate together. If my basement CO detector goes off, then the other two CO detectors also sound with an alarm and a voice indicator. When any of the smoke detectors trip, all detectors sound, and the hallway units voice alert "Fire!, Fire!". This connection between detectors will ensure that I know in the middle of the night if I have a fire in the basement... My house is well soundproofed between floors.

In replacing the existing brk wired in units with the Kidde detectors, I had to remove the existing collars and wired in "tails" since the existing ones were not compatible with the Kiddes. You can buy an adapter to convert from the BRK style of tail to the Kidde, but I considered that a waste of money. In my house, all of the smoke detectors are on the same electrical circuit and rewiring the tails and installing the detectors was a matter of ensuring the circuit was off, removeing 3 wire nuts, removing the existing tail, then twisting the new tail into the existing leads and putting the wire nuts back on. less than 3 minutes of work.

THe collar was easy to replace. A cordless screwdriver to loosen (not remove) the 2 J-box screws, twist and pull the brk collar off, add the Kidde collar, then tighten the screws.

All in all less than 5 minutes per detector... replaceing 7 detectors took less than an hour of work and I made sure to test each one for communications with the other units.

For the single detector that I have close to the peak of a cathedral ceiling I replaced the nice alkaline 9v that shipped with the PI2000 with an Ultralife Lithium 9v... they are made specifically for smoke detectors and are claimed to at least double the lifespan of a alkaline up to 10 years.... I'll let you know in ten years if its true. In any case I don't expect to have to change that high detector's battery for years now.

Remember that smoke detectors have to be replaced every 10 years.. units that detect CO will have to be replaced after 5yrs... its a chemical based sensor. - Combination Smoke - Home Safety - Kidde - Smoke Detector'

Mens Dress Socks - socks, over-the-calf

Okay. If you're considering over-the-calf socks, it's probably because you are like me and don't like your shin showing when you cross your leg wearing dress pants. A valid concern.

You should know, if you don't already, that OTC socks create extra friction at the calf muscle, which prevents your pants from draping correctly and tends to cause static buildup.

These "aquafx" socks are made from a material that, while it does wick away sweat more effectively than standard Gold Toe socks, is less sheer than standard Gold Toe socks, which means -even more- fricton. With these, my shins don't show, but I have to adjust my pants below the knee every time I stand up or sit down. Is it worth it? Still deciding. Gold Toe Men's ADC Aquafx Jersey Over the Calf Dress Sock, 10-13 Black

These socks feel great and look great. Not being a fan of men's socks that look opaque, I was concerned that they would be too thin, but I was presently proven wrong once I started wearing them. I took off one star since I think they are priced at least $3 too much.

I bought these to run my order up for free shipping. The choice was pay $5 for shipping or $7.50 for socks and get free shipping. I thought they were a bit expensive. I used to buy Hue OTC (over the calf) socks but they have stopped making them! When I received these socks and saw the quality I was impressed. They are very comfortable. They are worth the price. I just wish they would bundle them in packs to give a quantity discount, but I will spring for these again...

I've been on the unending search for Over-the-Calf (OTC) socks for years and was thrilled when I found these on Amazon. Since it was close to Christmas, I put them on my wish list and received two pairs. The socks were everything I wanted - extremely comfortable, attractive, AND (my holy grail) they stayed up all through a 14-hour work day!

After a single trip through the laundry, though, both pairs shrunk by more than 4 inches. Instead of being almost to the knee, they were below my calf. Of course, they now don't make it through my first meeting of the day without sagging.

I went to Amazon and bought a single pair from my wish list to confirm I had the right thing (couldn't tell my mother-in-law that the gift she had given was a bust). The new socks, too, were heaven for the first wearing. One wash, and the same results - no longer long enough nor would they stay up.

I do have decidedly hairless legs, so have a lot of trouble finding socks that won't droop. These were perfect, however, until they went through the wash and lost more than 25% of their length. If they need more special treatment than panty hose, they are certainly not what I need. I can't endorse such a product and must restart my years-long OTC search.

I am very happy with these socks. They are "over the calf" and I like that. They function fine in the business world.

They are "stretchier" than the normal Gold Toe. Again, I like that.

I would recommend them. They are somewhat "pricey" at $10, but I usually wait for a Gold Toe 25% off sale.

Yes, another rave review for these socks. How can it be so hard to find over-the-calf socks in the US? Well, not just the US... I even had trouble while living in Indonesia--one of the world's textile capitals!

But enough of that. These are really, really good socks. I bought 3 pairs 10 months ago, and I'm strongly tempted to buy a few more pairs. I even bought their over-the-calf white tube socks, and I like those, too!

As others have mentioned, these are not super-slick or super-sheer, so you may get some clinging depending on the pants you wear. This is not an issue for me. They are a nice, comfortable, medium-thick, dress- or business-casual sock with a good reinforced toe.

I've worn Gold Toe socks by choice for a long time but these are the best I've found yet. They provide some support for long days on your feet and some cushion when you do a lot of walking. They also wash well and don't seem to stretch or get out of shape.

Like these socks the best of all ordered from Amazon. They have one grave weakness. The heels acquire holes all to rapidly, sometimes after 5-6 wearings and washings. The heels need to be reinforced like the toes. This would then be an excellent sock. - Mens Dress Socks - Over-the-calf - Socks'

Cadex Pin Nailer - grex, 23 gauge

I purchased this micro pinner about two weeks ago and have been using it constantly at work. The tool is light, well balanced and has plenty of power with absolutely no kick when firing. I have several Max framing and coil guns that have been used pretty much constantly over the 5 years with no problems, and this micro pinner seems to have the same quality as the framing guns. I fear that I must agree fully with another reviewer here.

Please understand that I am a bit of a forced expert on sharpening pencils and keeping them sharpened at this particular point in my life. As a retired person with much time on his hands, my wife felt and decided that I should expand my horizons, keep active and find rewarding challenges as I slip slowly into my dotage. This can be translated into "get out from under my feet, and stop messing my house up." Sigh.

Anyway, I have for the past several years been acting as a substitute teacher at our local schools. During that time, working with both the very young ones and even the older ones, found that pencil sharpening abilities are an absolute must in order to survive. A young child has figured out that at least 20 minutes per day can be wonderfully wasted in the simple act of sharpening a pencil. If you multiply this by 20 or more students, they have figured out that they can pretty well spend the entire day hanging around the pencil sharpener and thereby have a very, very active social life communicating with their follow students. Yes, pencil sharpening is a social event for kids...it is better than the water cooler they will encounter when they hit the work force.

I have found that if I sharpen the pencils myself, I can get the whole wretched business over in about 15 minutes per day...total. There-in lays the problem. There are any number of different varieties of pencils available today; many brands, some good, some bad. I see and sharpen them all...trust me.

Of all the uncountable types of pencils I encounter and attempt to sharpen and keep sharp, each and every day of my life, this Dixon No. 2...the very ones listed here, are the worse...they are the bane of my life! Sisyphus had his boulder...I have my pencils! The lead breaks and breaks and breaks. Not only do they break through rough use by grubby little hands, they break in the pencil sharpener! I can start with a rather long, almost new pencil and by the time I get a point on it, it is down to a nub. I hand the nub to the kid, he or she returns to his or her desk, and within seconds...snap...we are back to square one. While the little ones seem to delight in this, I find it discouraging, frustrating and hopeless...to say the least.

Now you cannot blame the pencil sharpener in this case (neither the man nor the machine), I use a vast variety of sharpeners, mechanical, electrical, hand held...hey, I even use my pocket knife, and I do not have this same problem with other brands! No, it is the pencil!

I absolutely hate it when one of these are presented to me...I really truly despise these pencils! I fondly hope there is a special ring in hell for the designer of these things.

On the upside, and I always try to find an upside....well, come to think of it....I simply cannot think of an upside at this time...bummer.

Don Blankenship

The Ozarks Dixon Wood Cased Black Core #2 Pencils, 24 Count, Yellow (14401)

A typical #2 pencil can write a 35 miles long line or 45,000 words. Nobody seems to know why the common pencil is called a number two. On the Dixon pencil and other brands are the letters HB; H stands for hard and B for black.

I bought this pack of Dixon pencils despite the negative reviews preceding mine. In my years of teaching, I'm sure I've known thousands of pencils, most nondescript, most yellow, most like the one before and the one after. Some pencils are easier to sharpen than others. Some last longer. Some suffer from constantly breaking points.

How are these Dixon pencils? Sharpening the pencils was no problem, or at least not much of a problem. The paint on these pencils seems thicker than that on other pencils, so the initial sharpening took some time and patience. With two of the three sharpeners at our center I got perfectly symmetrical ends. On the third I got a good point, but not a wood trim evenly proportioned all around.

I gave these pencils to a number of students to use, and made a point to present a pencil to a girl with the same surname. None of the students had any problems with the Dixon pencils - no sharpening problems, no point breaking pencils. To all of them the Dixons were just another pencil, with wood encased graphite, a metal ferrule, and an eraser.

I asked one student how it felt to sharpen the Dixon. "Nothing out of the ordinary," he said. "Just the same old grind."

So for me this set of pencils proved to be a worthwhile purchase for a good price.

NOTE -- I've heard that when a mathematician gets constipation , he works it out with a pencil. Maybe that's why the pencils are called number two. It's just a theory of mine. - Pencils - Eraser - Pencil - Home Office'

Phillips Ii Plus

I bought a small box of these Phillip II Plus to use in replacing a section of deck flooring. I also had another type of screw left over from another project. I was amazed at such ease of starting the Phillip Plus after fumbling and fussing with the other type that just didn't want to take hold, (and then at times went in crooked). But, that's not all. After starting the Phillips Plus, it pulled itself right into the work w/o any effort. I thought it was a fluke until the next, and one after another did the same thing. My work began picking up speed immediately. Because of the ease of starting there was no wobbling and ending up with an angled screwhead sticking out of the wood. Except for an occasional screw, which could have been my fault, they made beautiful work. 5# 9 x 2" Tan Exterior Screws

THESE ARE GREAT SCREWS THAT I HAVE BEEN USING FOR 15 YEARS. THEY HAVE A "SQUARE / PHILLIPS DRIVE AND THAT'S WHAT I WANT. I USE TO BUY THEM AT LOWELS AND HOME DEPOT. Katherine Hepburn - katherine hepburn, elizabeth taylor

Tennessee Williams SOUTHERN GOTH masterpiece a la dark black and white Hollywood film style with Joseph (All About Eve, Guys & Dolls) Mankiewicz at the director's helm and screenplay adapted by Gore Vidal.

Elizabeth Taylor plays beautiful and crazy Cathy and Mercedes McCambridge (the actress who provided the voice of the demon in The Exorcist) plays her protective mother. Katherine Hepburn is Auntie Venable and wants niece Cathy to have a lobotomy to help her forget what she witnessed in regards to her son and Cathy's cousin, Sebastian and his untimely & somewhat mysterious "death" involving Sebastian's sexual secrets...

This all happened in front of Cathy's young & virginal eyes, "Suddenly, Last Summer". Last summer, Cathy and Sebastian travelled to Europe on an extravagant, decadent & obviously quite hedonistic vacation. Mrs. Venable was already quite traumatized by a baby sea turtle massacre last summer on the Galapogos Islands and Kathy was raped that very summer but what happened to cousin Sebastian in Europe was something that completely broke Kathy's fragile mind.

Auntie Venable gets the help of Dr. Cukrowicz, played by Montgomery Clift to see if he can help poor Cathy out with a prescibed lobotomy and mainly to save the selfish & overbearing Mrs. Venable from having people know about her son's secrets that got him killed.

From the opening scene, the viewer is riveted to the screen and left wondering... wondering... WHAT really happened so suddenly, last summer? The film builds and builds into the last 20 minutes of this film where Taylor gives a tremendous soliliquy and overview of just what DID happen to poor Sebastian. The split-screen effect that is used in this ending scene is fabulous. You never see Sebastian so what you are conjuring up in your mind is MUCH MORE horrific than they could have filmed back then. Wonderful cast with excellent performances from all but Clift who was quite medicated during the grueling shoot due to an accident before filming. If you are a Tennessee Williams, Elizabeth Taylor or Katharine Hepburn fan this is a MUST SEE!

Happy Watching! Suddenly Last Summer [VHS]

This 1959 film starred both Elizabeth Taylor and Katherine Hepburn. Each is a fine actress in her own right. But put them together, and the screen just sizzles. Each one has long monologues lasting for more than 15 minutes, but, because of their talents, I was riveted to my seat the entire time. Adapted from a play by Tennessee Williams who was joined by Gore Vidal in writing the screenplay, it's a strikingly weird story set in 1937 New Orleans and deals with the sensitive subjects of insanity, lobotomy and cannibalism. When we consider that the film was released during a time of high censorship, we have to applaud the writing, which had to conform to the guidelines of the time. Perhaps for this reason though, some of the story is not quite crystal clear. But this doesn't matter, nor does it matter that the Southern accents seem either non-authentic or missing altogether. That's because of the strength of the performances. And not every detail has to always be tied up in a neat package. If you're looking for a lightweight, comfortable film, you won't find it here. Instead you'll find a disturbing controversial theme and some of the best on-screen performances by you'll ever see.

Watered down film version of Tennesee Williams' stage play that contains one of the most horrific storylines brought to the screen at the time (1959). Katharine Hepburn is memorable as the very weird Mrs. Violet Venable, a wealthy New Orleanian matron who keeps a monstrous jungle of carnivorous plants on her patio grounds. She attempts to procure the services of a new young neuro-surgeon (Montgomery Clift) with a radically new method of lobotomy to lobotomize her supposedly mad niece Catherine (a stunning Elizabeth Taylor) to shut-up her ramblings about the death of Violets' son, Sebastian, who died a grotesque death "suddenly last summer". Of course, Catherine isn't mad but still in shock since she witnessed Sebastians' death. While showing her "garden" to the doctor, Mrs.Venable relates a morbid story of she and Sebastian witnessing baby turtles being devoured by sea birds as they scrambled for their lives to the ocean. This tale is allegorical to the way Sebastian died but Mrs.Venable is in extreme denial about the nature of his death and the twos' true relationship. The doctor begins interviewing Catherine and discovers the truth through the use of truth serum. Sebastian was a sexual predator who used his mother while they vacationed to attract young men and when Violet was no longer young or pretty enough he turned to Catherine. This leads to the horrible revelations about his death that Violet Venable is determined to stop Catherine from revealing---even if it means a lobotomy. This is amazing subject matter for the time and daringly brought to the screen. The film is somewhat stagily done but fascinating to watch thanks to the awesome performances of Hepburn and Taylor. Essential viewing for truly off-beat psycho-drama and what could be gotten away with in 1959 when handled properly. Give this one a good watching.

Suddenly, Last Summer is an excellent film adaptation of Tennessee Williams' play of the same name. The cast couldn't be better: Katherine Hepburn, Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor star in this horrifying drama. Although two hours long, you'll never stir once in your seat. The excellent dialogue holds your attention and the convincing acting is nothing short of stellar.

When the film begins, a wealthy middle aged widow named Violet Venable (Katherine Hepburn) still suffers the pain from the loss of her son Sebastian the previous summer. Although Violet wants to remember her son as a "chaste" man, her niece Cathy Holly (Elizabeth Taylor) unconsciously remembers the actual events that led to Sebastian's tragic and untimely death. Violet can't stand the fact that Cathy remembers just a bit too much about Sebastian, so she tries to bribe a doctor (Montgomery Clift) to lobotomize Catherine so that her son's memory will never be defiled.

It's a race against time as Dr. Cukrowicz (Montgomery Clift) becomes intrigued by Catherine's story and unusual memory loss. The doctor is under intense pressure to lobotomize Cathy from both Violet Venable and his boss at the asylum where Catherine is being kept. However, Dr. Cukrowicz wants to see if Catherine can be made to tell the truth--and avoid a lobotomy at the last minute.

The plot moves along very well and certain images could scare sensitive people. Sebastian's garden is an eerie place that reflects superlative set design; and the split screen at the end when Cathy finally does remember exactly how Sebastian died will stay in your head for quite a while after you view this film.

The DVD contains few real extras; we do get the theatrical trailer for the film and you can select scenes to view and setup the audio as you wish from several options.

Suddenly, Last Summer is one of those rare films that are truly memorable well after you've seen them. Although you can't be squeamish in order to handle the ending of this film, I believe this is one of the best films ever made. When you watch this film you will be riveted by the action and plot development just as I was.

I highly recommend this film for film buffs and for people who want to see Katherine Hepburn perform a tour de force as a ghastly villain. People who enjoy films with Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift will also appreciate this movie. - Montgomery Clift - Katherine Hepburn - Elizabeth Taylor - Movie'

Bathroom Faucet

I ordered 2 of these faucets for my Master bedroom remodel. The faucets are beautiful, very solid, and before packaged in separate boxes, they were placed in cloth bags to prevent scratching. One of the faucets, however, had a scratch on it. Customer service was exceptional!! My email was responded to within hours and I had a new one in the mail to me the next day, which was in perfect condition. I would definitely order from them again!! You won't find a better price for the quality of the faucet. Contemprary Single Handle Waterfall Bathroom Vanity Faucet, Chrome

Pros:Heavy well made faucet.Looks good.Works good.reasonable priceCons:No instructions. There was an instruction booklet but it was about other faucets by this manufacturer. No instructions on this faucet. The booklet says the the faucet is guaranteed. It doesn't say for how long it is guaranteed or where to get service. No address and no telephone number.I was surprised how noisy it is.Undersink metal bracket is not well designed. Too small and too thin. Have to be careful when tightening down faucet so that the bracket will not buckle through sink faucet hole. Also the nuts rub up against water supply hoses and bracket gets caught on the hoses and has to be tweaked when tightening the nuts.Hoses should have been for 3/8 fittings. Most home installations have 3/8 angle stop. Had to purchase new angle stops for this faucet.Faucet only. No drain, etc included.SEPTEMBER 22 REVIEW UPDATE: Vendor, WTEvergreen LLC - Amazon Marketplace, contacted me and addressed all my concerns with me and the manufacturer. In the future, specific instruction booklet will be included, adapters will be supplied to fit 3/8 angle stop, etc, etc. I HAVE now CHANGED TO FIVE STARS. Very impressed with their customer service and I would have no hesitation to order from them in the future.

First of all, I'm a french canadian, so my english might not be perfect. But you should understand my comments! :-)

Very nice faucet. I really like the fact that this model is really different than what you would usualy see in a bathroom. And the price... So cheap!

Keep in mind the base is very wide (larger and deeper than what it appears to be on the pictures). This faucet would not fit every sink. We had to switch the faucets from downstair with the one upstair because we have a sink like this one ([...]) and the base of the new faucet was too big.

Doesn't come with a pop-up drain, so buy one.

Shipping was fast and the packaging was ok.

I loved this faucets, I buy two of them and when they arrive I was surprise! It was bigger and better than I suppose !

I received itvery fast and I am very glad with the product!

I really recommend this faucet! It is gorgeous !

Bought this for our masterbath remodel project. This is outstanding! Very nice quality and looks great on our new granite countertops. Would recommend to anyone looking for something different with flair.'
