Waist Trimmers - waist belt, support
I was skeptical about this product to be honest. I've learned that when it comes to my body, to change something requires Dedication and Discipline. I had fat stored in my stomach area (even though I'm skinny 6"3 and 200lb). I used this product for 2 weeks.
I did not change my routine and I never made abdominals and had poor cardio performance. I mainly did chest, bicep, back and other main muscles. During every exercise I felt the heat i was generating in my stomach area.
I had to readjust the Trimmer 3 to 4 times in a 2 hour period because of the water I was losing.
In just 2 weeks my stomach fat was greatly reduced and my waist looks way better. My Body fat is more or less the same 18% +/-1%.
I highly recommend it! McDavid Waist Trimmer
I have tried a number of different waist belts and this is by far the best one I have ever had. Several of the ones I have had before wore out quickly and number of them were not wide enough to cover the entire mid-section. This one is by far the strudiest and best one I have ever had over the past 10 years. I am ordering several more just in case the next time I need one I can not find this brand. Whatever you do - don't buy the belt by GoFit. It wears out in less than a month.
I did not buy this belt with huge expectations of loosing inches. Exercise and diet does that. I really wanted it because I have a condition called diatasis recti. Not serious, but it has resulted in a herniated belly button and looks terrible if I am exercising. I needed a tight, tough belt to hold everything together.
I have had this belt on all day now while working. The first belt I bought was the Bally Slimmer Belt With Zippers. I thought the zippers would make for a tight fitting belt versus the Velcro.
The Bally belt fell apart the first day. This is one is strong and sturdy. The Velcro system is fine.
I bought this item few weeks ago and I have used it during my daily exercise routines, and i have to confess I find the product very helpful. With it I have been able to burn off some of the excess fats in my mid section area, and I have no doubt it will play a large role in helping me meeting my weight target for the year.
After my pregnancy i had trouble losing my pregnancy weight, and most of the pregnancy weight remained in my waist area and i have been searching for a good waist trimmer belt, I tried so many belts and none fit well, This is the best, It doesn't roll off and i can wear it how tight i want unlike the other ones, Easy to fold and store so soft on the skin, Can be worn directly on the skin.and seems to be of good quality too..I will definitely suggest this one to my friends.
I absolutely love this product. It stretches to whatever size fit I need
and the best part.....it stays in place!! I do NOT have to keep adjusting it.
Once I place it in a comfy position...it remains there until i am ready to remove it.
i lOVE the width and overall feel. I have been wearing this at work (for about
a week now) and boy do I sweat underneath it. My skin and shirts get pretty wet.
I can see results from wearing this item. No major weight loss from the ab area...
not that I was expecting that from just wearing it on my ("sit down")job.
I plan on working out with it....hopefully I will see more results.
I recommend this item to all. I am glad that I found this brand. I am going to order
a few more. I would hate to have something happen to this one and not be able to
replace it. I have tried a few of these waist trimmers and this one by far is the best!!!
Thank you, AMAZON AND McDavid brand~~~~;)
After I had abdominal surgery, I was sent home with an elastic binder that fell apart after a week. I ordered the McDavid Waist trimmer to replace it and have been pleased with the quality so far. After a couple of weeks of constant wear, it still looks and feels like new. I wear it over my clothes, so I don't much of the sweating effect that you would have if you wore it next to your skin. I'm sure there are binders that offer more support, but this is the right amount for me, I feel secure without being uncomfortable.
I'm a size 12, and the belt fits fine with about 7 inches of overlap. It can be trimmed if necessary, but I liked the extra protection of having two layers across my incision, especially when driving because of the seat belt.
I've tried quite a few trimming belts and this is by far the best! It is very comfortable and the material they use are the best. I used it for the first time while using my treadmill and it made me drip sweat like crazy. If you have tried alot of belts before, you'll have to try this one. I love this belt and it does what it says it will. You won't be disappointed! - Support - Waist Trimmers - Waist Belt - Abdominal'

I ordered this product thinking I needed it, but turns out, I didn't. It works well, but truth is, one can just use the stamp and image plates. This can cut down on the mess, but that's about it. If one knows what they're doing, you really don't need it. Just use your hand to hold the plate and go for it. The shipping and handling coupled with cost of the item just wasn't worth it. Konad Stamping Nail Art Image Plate Holder
I got this image plate holder because I was new to Konad Stamping Nail Art and I wanted to make sure I got all the things that will help me use the system better. The holder is not bad but it's not really necessary since you can place the image plates on top of a paper towel (which I still do even though I got the plate holder) and it will work fine. So if you don't feel like you require it don't waste the money, I gave it 4 stars because it does the job, but it's not really a must.
I purchased this to hold my Konad and Monster Bundle IP's and it does the trick. It helps on holding the plates down while scraping the excess polish off and it helps me be less messy. It is easy to wipe the polish off of the holder with regular nail polish remover.
i have absolutely no problems with this product at all..it works fine..it doesn't fit perfectly with the bundle monster plates but it's not that big of a deal..the only reason i give it three stars is because i personally don't think it's necessary..simply putting the image plate on a paper towel or something will do..but considering the price, i purchased it
This holder does it's job. I am able to easy swipe my BM plates as long as I hold the plate in place. Helps with cleanup cuz I don't need to use a bunch of paper towels, I just clean the holder. It's not necessary, but if you want to make your stamping slightly easier, get it.
This item does save your work area from getting messy . . . those blue nail towels are expensive. A feature no one else has mentioned is that you can also test out designs on the pink scraping area, then wipe clean with the polish as you clean off the plate. It does hold the plate secure (I just have the Bundle Monster plates but I understand that both those and the Konad work perfectly). It's cool, and I like it. No you don't have to have it, but you won't regret having one either!!!!
Manufacturers: Cool idea for you: I wish there were a Konad product to hold the plates and be able to put them away like folding a book so they don't catch dust and you can see them all at once, or nearly all at once. And another product that could also be really neat, would be a practice board with different backgrounds with strips of major background colors, such as clear, natural, French pink and white, red, black, plum, that could wipe off with polish remover as it does on the scraper. It would be very cool to be able to store it inside the disc storage device I am dreaming of. Many plastics are not acetone safe; so we could use a product like this.
This is a great product. Does what it says it should BUT it is so much better just to set the plate straight onto a paper towel so when you're done, you can just pick it all up and throw it away. I bought this without thinking and have barely used it. I would suggest not buying it and just using a paper towel! I wouldn't buy it again.
The Image Plate holder is a very convenient tool when using Konad. For all you first time users out there, know that this is not essential to the process but merely quickens the process and makes it so that you can easily swipe away the excess nail polish from the scraper. Overall I would recommend this item if you want to simplify your process but if you don't want to spend the money you will be fine without it. - Image Plates - Nail Art - Nail - Manicure'

Droid Stand - case, body glove
When I first got the case, I was really happy with it. It really secures the phone, gives it a heavier, more secure feel, and I felt better about shoving the phone in my pocket without worrying about it. It also alleviated the problem I was having with the droid's battery cover coming off in my pocket which was very annoying. There are also nice cutouts for the speaker, camera, charger, etc, and the phone slides open and closed with no problem. I really liked it at first.
Since then, though, there are two problems that are really bothering me about it.
First, it's very hard to get off and on. I've had to take the back cover off to reset my phone a couple of times during lock ups, and the braces that snap around the phone are *so* tight, that they can slide in to the cracks of the phone itself causing the plastic of the phone to split apart and nearly tear the phone open. That was terrifying.
Secondly, it's not compatible with the multimedia dock. So you have to take the stupid thing off and on whenever you want to dock your phone. That. Sucks. Coupled with the problem above, you have a nightmare scenario. Not only do I feel like I'm going to break my phone whenever I try to take the case off, but I HAVE to take the case off to dock it. UGH.
I am looking for a replacement case that I don't have to remove to dock. Body Glove Glove Snap-On Case for A855 Motorola Droid (Black)
I have dry hands so I need a case with some tackiness especially with such an expensive phone as the Droid. I tried the plastic/leather case from Verizon but it was still too slippery. The body glove allows good gripping without being TOO tacky which interferes with the phone going in and out of your pocket. The body glove on the left side of the touchscreen is not fully attached because of the slide out keyboard but that is acceptable. Also the case doesn't seem to protect around the screen quite as well as the bottom and sides but that is also acceptable. Rugged case is very good quality. Case looks nice, better than in the pictures.
I have owned two Body Glove Hard Snap-On Covers for my Motorola Droid.
The GOOD: I really liked the texture of the Body Glove case--the slightly rubberized, gripped feel is comfortable to the hands, easy to hold, not slippery at all, and its slight give/rebound made me feel confident that I was getting the maximum drop protection. Another cool feature is the ability to swap out a belt clip knob attachment in the back, although the case has to be removed from the Droid to do this. The belt clip itself even has a stand that pops out so you can remove the whole thing from your belt and just stand it up on your desk (although I didn't realize this for a very long time--thought the belt clip was just really bulky--oops).
The BAD: It's bulky. Really bulky. This is the case equivalent of football pads for your Droid.
The WORSE: It looks cheaply made, and it definitely seems to be. After a week or two I started to notice a lot of wear on the case. Seams where two different kinds of plastic (softer outer layer/coating, harder inner layer, or snap-on tabs) join together were the worst, especially at the corners of the case--the different types of plastic seem to want to come apart, almost as if the surfaces at the seam degrade and wear away from one another. Pieces of the softer outer layer begin to flake off at the seams and corners, and there were parts of the case where they were already seeming to do this before I removed it from its packaging.
In addition, the left side of the front cover (bottom when the keyboard is slid out) is indented a bit to give you more room to reach the top row of keys on the keyboard when it's open, but this makes it too weak--it flexes and bends a LOT with just the slightest pressure.
The WORST: the snap-on tabs are total crap in every way. They are so large they only just barely allow the Droid keyboard to slide open and closed, and they leave marks on the back of the screen part of the phone from the friction of sliding open.
Even worse, after about a month (on the first Body Glove case I had) or two (on my second Body Glove case) the snap-on tabs begin to crumble or break off, one right after another, all at once, until they won't stay on the phone. Granted, I kept the phone in my hip pocket all the time, but it's still inexcusable. Got my first case replaced, demanded and got a refund on the second one. Also, I only (carefully!) removed the Droid from the case once or twice (it's also very hard to take this case off of the phone) during the (short) life of each case, so the problem wasn't excessive wear to the tabs from daily or more often removal of the case from the phone. It's just a cheap, shoddy product.
The VERDICT: DON'T BUY THIS! There were some good ideas in the design, but this is overpriced and very, very poorly made.
If you want an awesome case that's way slimmer, better made, much, much more durable, easier to remove and put on, AND cheaper, I recommend the Seidio Innocase--I have a black one now, and I love it. - Body Glove - Droid - Motorola - Case'

Digital Camera - super zoom, digital frames
Disclaimer: This particular review isn't being written from an avid photographer's point of view.
I needed a small, inexpensive, good-quality, easy-to-use camera for my job. My main use for this camera is taking good, clear indoor before/after photos of various electronic devices and related components. My requirements are a large LCD viewer, the ability to use common AA batteries, have my settings (date/time, photo mode) retained after batteries were removed and replaced, and a quick way to transfer images to my PC's that doesn't rely solely on a USB cable.
Preferring not to have to deal with camera angle or cumbersome tricks to reduce flash reflection from shiny surfaces, I was hoping to find something that would allow effective non-flash settings where a semi steadily-held camera could take clear, acceptable indoor pictures as required by the companies that I do work for.
As much as I tried, I could not get good, consistent results with the e510 but I seem to have found that camera with the L24.
So far with the L24, I've taken pictures of HDTV televisions (displays powered both on and off), PCB boards, product labels, macro shots of venting capacitors, etc. - *all without flash*, using only ambient room lighting.
For me, time is an important factor and with these onsite job shots, I do not have the time or desire to do pre-shot adjustments or after-processing like resizing, gamma-tweaking, or cropping. The shots I take need to be ready to be attached to an email or be uploaded to technician portals. The settings that I have found that work for me is the "white balance" and "motion detect" set for auto, resolution set for 1024x768 (for email-ready small file and dimension), and flash set for "off".
As long as my subjects aren't in the shadows, the camera is held relatively steady, and the images framed properly, my pictures are clear and all I have to do once I return home is transfer to my PC, attach and send. The settings as described above allow clear pictures for my uses in both regular and macro modes.
The camera remembers my settings with its AA batteries out and its 3" LCD viewer lets me verify a good shot (they've all been pretty good so far).
Connectivity:
All of my PC's have a card slot that accommodates the SD type, so if the included UC-E6 cable isn't handy, I remove the SD card from the camera and transfer images that way. If I needed more of these cables, I can get them for $4 each on eBay.
You don't have to use a SD card (camera has 17MB built-in) but I do recommend using a card for the extra storage and image-transfer/connectivity options.
When buying a SD card, consider the card-reading compatibility with your existing equipment if you intend on using using the card to transfer images. Some card readers do not read SDHC (high-capacity) cards, I was aware of this potential compatibility issue beforehand and bought a standard SD 2GB (not a SDHC) card.
I'm sure once more people buy this camera, more features than I covered will be discussed. There are settings on the L24 that I will probably never use. In my quick tour through the menu settings (haven't read the manual yet - haha) I didn't see where you can manually adjust aperture or shutter speed independently but there is an exposure control. The lack of manual settings might be a minus for serious photographers but like I said before, photography isn't a hobby for me - I just want to take good pictures easily and quickly. Nikon COOLPIX L24 14 MP Digital Camera with 3.6x NIKKOR Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD (Red)
I purchased this camera for quick access during vacation and travel. Although the camera cannot zoom very far it still is a very good camera. Takes very clear pictures and can be slipped into your pockets very easily into my pocket. Transferring pictures is very easy just hook up the camera into the computer and click the you want and drag to the desktop. The only problem i have with the camera is that it has a hard time focusing on small texts. For example i want to copy a receipt and send it to the manufacturer it would come out blurry.
Overall this is a great camera and i would highly recommend this for travel or for quick takes
Although I haven't used all its features yet, I love this camera! The photos are sharp and clear, and it is so easy to use that I just took it out and started shooting. If I could post just one of my dragonfly photos in which you can see every vein in their wings there could be no doubt as to the quality of the photos. My 75 year old father saw how easy it is to use and the quality of the photos and asked me to get one for him. QED
Four stars, though, because the auto focus when using the macro function has difficulty focusing on objects that do not take up enough of the field of vision. It could use a manual focus or an easier way to manipulate the auto-focus.
Bought this camera for my daughter. One month later, the battery compartment door retention pins break, rendering the unit useless and there was no way to close the door-not even with tape. I learned of this in July as she was away at school, but it is 'guaranteed' for 1 year! Yay! I followed Nikon's directions to return to them. They advised me that they did not consider this covered as it was possible we may have dropped it or forced the door closed. I calmly explained that wasn't the case AND that we had a friend with the same camera and same problem! ALSO, you can read the reviews of this camera on various sites (or the L-22) to see that it's a common gripe. They would not fix it and wanted $93. After the postage/insurance to ship it to them, I could buy a new camera. But I will not ever buy another Nikon product. I am sticking with Canon as they have covered their product for me in the past OUT of warranty!!! You've been warned. - Digital Photo - Digital Frames - Like It - Super Zoom'

American History - scuba diving, history
This is one of those rare books that you know within the first dozen pages it's going to be a great read and you're going to be disappointed when it ends. Robert Kurson's tremendous research combined with a great historical narrative style results in learning not only about the lives of the living players such as Chatterton and Kohler, but the dead sailors on the submarine as well. While this is Kurson's book, you can see the extensive contribution provided by Chatterton, Kohler and others who shared the experience. This book fits beautifully with "The Last Dive", which I reviewed here a few years ago. I did learn things here, which surprised me relative to "The Last Dive". I thought they had been doing mixed-gas diving much longer on U-869 then just before the Rouse's arrival. Chapter 2 is about the dangers of wreck diving and sets the stage of what to expect throughout the remainder of the book. Kurson makes sure the reader understands this wasn't just a bunch of treasure hunters looking for some "stuff". These guys respected this dive site as sacred resting place for these German sailors and their actions (including their own research) supported that belief. And in the end, I was right...it was a disappointment to see it end. Shadow Divers: The True Adventure of Two Americans Who Risked Everything to Solve One of the Last Mysteries of World War II
This retelling of true events is as good and as close as you can get to the excitement of made up fiction. Admittedly the author, Robert Kurson, had good material with which to work, but a writer of lesser talent could have easily botched this little gem of an opportunity. As it is, Kurson's ability to grab the reader and maintain his/her full attention throughout a story that spans more than six years, is a testament to his writing prowess.
Kurson puts us in the center of the action as we learn about the discovery of a mysterious submarine shipwreck--not one of ours--just 60 miles east of Pt. Pleasant, NJ. In nautical terms this is literally in our backyard. Resting on the bottom of the ocean at 233 feet, it is a depth that is tantalizingly close, yet dangerously deep and accessible to all but a few of the most experienced deep diving specialists.
Central to the story are the truly larger than life main characters: hard drinking rough hewn John Nagle, Captain of the dive-boat and world renowned wreck diving legend; two peas in opposing pods, John Chatterton and Richie Kohler, wreck diving enthusiasts who idolize Nagle and only hope to share in some of the excitement that he has experienced in the past; and a rather odd assortment of other players who come and go at different times. Along the way we witness relationships destroyed, marriages ruined, jobs forfeited, sanity questioned, and even lives tragically lost, all in the single minded pursuit to solve a seemingly unsolvable puzzle.
Kurson pulls it all together nicely, and without revealing the end, I will just say that this book is a richly rewarding experience for the reader. Good books like this leave me wanting to know so much more about the characters, sort of "where are they now?" Fortunately, the adventures experienced by these fascinating men don't end with the telling of this story; John Chatterton, and to a lesser extent Richie Kohler, can be seen quite regularly on the History Channel as the hosts of the Deep Sea Detectives docudrama television series.
My reading tastes have always been fiction: action, adventure, thrillers, and since going away to college two years ago I have not had time for any fun reading, But started this book last week and then could not put it down. It is TRUE action adventure!
This is the story of two deep sea wreck divers who dive into a long lost wreck in over 200 feet of water, which they identify as a German U-boat. The book follows the lives of these two men as they attempt to discover the identity of the U-boat and discover things about themselfs. There lives are greatly changed by the discovery, Jobs changed, marriages lost, diving companions killed on the wreck, and lost to the bottle.
The story is more than just about the men's dives on the wreck and there attempt to discover its identity, and the adventure involved in such an endeavor, but also about the characters (which are rich in this story) involved, the history behind the boat and Hitlers 3rd Riech. there is so much to learn on every page. In the end though it is the under water action that kept me enthralled. If you read this book you will gain an appreciation of the wonders and dangers of deep water diving.
....but a mite overwrought. Kurson does a remarkable job recounting the story of the men who found and identified a German submarine of the coast of New Jersey. The story transcends its gripping details to become a story of redemption: self-interested treasure-hunters in the habit of hauling mementos from shipwrecks ("Andrea Doria" china and the like) become genuinely interested in the history of the boat, genuinely frightened of the dangers in exploring it, and genuinely respectful of the German sailors who died in it.
From time-to-time Kurson lays it on pretty thick stylistically; the story is so dramatic (several divers died during the search) that it does not need melodramatic prose. There is an interesting but strangely apologetic chapter on the German sailors; Kurson seems a little too eager to prove that many of them had anti-Hitler leanings. This is surely true, but the story of the lost men, whose bones still rest on the bottom of the Atlantic, is tragic and touching regardless of their politics.
Still, if you like true adventures, you can't do better than this.
If you like books such as The Perfect Storm or Into Thin Air, you'll enjoy Shadow Divers. It's the true adventure story of 2 American divers who discovered Hitler's missing-and-presumed-dead submarine off the coast of New Jersey. It was long believed that this missing German sub, number U-869, had been sunk somewhere off Gibraltar. Then two death-defying wreck divers from the US began delving into this boat found off NJ in 1991 and discovered the German U-boat had actually been sunk by its own torpedo, killing all on board. But that wasn't the end of the killing. During the discovery/exploration phase of this expedition, 3 wreck divers died, mostly from the complications of SCUBA diving in 230 feet of cold water. But the physical aspects are only part of the tale. There are also the relationships and psychological games that are played out among weekend warriors wearing wet suits.Mystery, action, danger, history, drama, fame: who could ask for more from a true adventure book? - Shipwrecks - History - Scuba Diving - Wreck Diving'

Clean Lcd Screen - apple monitor, monitor cleaner
I was skeptical at first, but this stuff really does work great! I use it to clean the screen on my powerbook for the most part. But it also works great on my ipod and my digital camera! It's safe to use on electronics. You won't be disappointed. Monster MBL CLNKIT-SM Screen Clean Mini [Traditional Packaging]
I tried Apple Polish, iClear and plain water. They all left my MacBook screen streaky. But thanks to the other reviews here, I bought this product, and it works wonderfully. The screen looks like new! No streaks, no smears, just a beautiful, shiny screen.
While I can't compare this product's effectiveness to that of other screen cleaners, as this is the first one I've ever used, this product works amazingly well and restored my LCD to its original glory.
I bought this based on the other reviews, specifically mentioning the Powerbook, because my MacBook Pro screen was extremely dirty, with streaks on it that clearly annoyed during movie playback. It arrived, and voila, my MacBook Pro's screen looks factory new.
The solution lets out a bit of a foamy soap when rubbed in, and it just works wonders. The only thing is, this product is quite expensive. Not surprising considering it's a "Monster" product.
I bought this over some of the cheaper cleaners upon the advice I read within some of the bad reviews for those cleaners. I was not disappointed. Although a bit more expensive, this stuff really works nicely. Make sure you use a high quality micro-fiber cloth (a small one was included) to avoid any scratching. This works perfectly and leaves you with a factory fresh screen in terms of the look.
This Monster product works very well, it cleaned my 19" Dell flatscreen desk monitor without incident, and left the screen in pristine original condition. Usually I avoid Monster products like the MonsterCables because they are so outrageously priced, but since this is priced competitively I bought it. You get two bottles of the solution, so it seems like this package will last me forever. The microfiber cloth that comes in the package is good quality and is easily cleaned after use with plain soap and water.
After 2 applications on my apple laptop..still smear!! Used their towel that was included. Do I try a third application? Just don't agree with the other reviewers with my experience. I was really looking for some magical stuff after reading all of the positives. But was disappointed to say the least. i wouldn't give water 1 star!!
It sounds silly but I really had no idea how dirty my laptop screen was until I the Monster Screen Clean. No streaks, smudges, etc. Don't forget the microfiber cloth; it is necessary!!! If you work on a computer all day you need this!!! - Dell Monitor - Apple Monitor - Clean Lcd Screen - Monitor Cleaner'

Modern Warfare 3 - modern warfare, call of duty
These socks are nice socks to wear with a suit. They are a nice and dark color of black; not a shade of gray. The sock have an extra ply to them that seperates them from traditional thin dress socks. Do not be mistaken, these are socks that fall in the thin category. They are just two ply so to speak. They hold in heat well and do not breate a great deal! Neither do they have the cotton that allows for perspiration to dissipate. I purchased them in the summer and did not expect this. My feet were very hot and sweat a great deal. I would recommend them for white collar work during the fall and winter months. I would also recommend them in the summer if you truly only work inside a good comfortable building. Gold Toe Men's Dress Rib 6 Pack Socks,Black,Sock Size 10-13
These socks are very nice, and obviously well-made (Gold Toe is a fabulous brand), but they seem to run rather large. My husband wears a size 10 shoe and the socks are a bit long for him. The heels pull up a bit in back, where they should fit snug down over his heel. We've never had a problem with size from Gold Toe socks, either, so I am not sure what happened. I will try and dry them on a higher setting next time to see if they shrink down a tad. If not, I'm going to have to send them back. I bought 12 pairs (set of 6 black, set of 3 in both brown and navy) and all of them are a bit long.
These are the best dress socks I have found out there. I wear dress shoes and socks at least five days a week. I have a variety of brands of socks and without fail it is always the Gold Toe socks that last the longest. I've finally got to the point where I only buy these socks.
They are very fairly priced for dress socks. They are also very comfortable. They do not itch or feel too tight when I wear them. They also breathe well, which is very important when I'm wearing all leather wingtips all day.
Overall, these are great socks. I would recommend you pick some up and see for yourself.
-Cheers!
Not much to say other than I love these socks. It's really up to individual taste I suppose, but these socks are well made, very comfy, and last years without wearing thin or getting holes. They are versatile as well. I wear them with very nice dress shoes to work, or with casual shoes/boots out on the weekends. Really a great buy! - Modern Warfare - Games - Call Of Duty - Mw3'

Solid Waste Management - home improvement, home plumbing
I very rarely spend hard earned money on "how-to" books since they very rarely offer the kind of insight a do-it-yourselfer is looking for. This book is the best exception to that rule that I have found. The book covers all facets of plumbing.Included in the book are high level overviews, extensive discussions of plumbing materials, and step by step instructions for planning, installing, and repairing plumming systems. Whether you are a current home owner looking for assistance in home plumbing repairs, or designing the plumbing system for new construction, this book contains everything you need to get the job done.In addition to the thoroughness of the information contained in the book, there are outstanding graphics and photographs depicting topic at hand. This book would be a bargain at five times the cost. Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Plumbing: Expanded 4th Edition - Modern Materials and Current Codes - All New Guide to Working with Gas Pipe (Black & Decker Complete Guide)
I've been disappointed many times at the lack of depth given by many "do-it-yourself" books. This isn't one of them! The photos are clear, the language concise. Each procedure is given clearly in a step-by-step manner that anyone can follow. After reading this book I may even tackle copper pipe and soldering, something which I've never been quite brave enough to do before. I had questions answered that I've been searching for, quite literally, years. How-to manuals just don't get any better.
I'm the kind of homeowner who isn't afraid of attempting various repairs- with the proper guidance and directions (I do have some background in electronics repair, but that's a distant relative to home repairs, IMO.) This book provides both for me through excellent organization, clear instructions highlighted by excellent overall and step-by-step photos (for instance, photos of three alternative "naked" shower plumbing setups as typically installed in American homes, sans drywall and covering, as well as step-by-step photos of how to perform component maintenance or replacement). Included are lists of the tools needed to do the job (ever had to stop mid-job because you didn't have the exact tool to continue?), a well-written index and even handy conversion (metric - Imperial) tables, as well as what in my opinion is the only useless bit of this book, a sketchy resource list of professional associations. I think this book still merits five stars; it is good for scoping and planning, and then to follow as you are doing. Finally- a well-illustrated and clearly written book for the rest of us, not assuming we know it all nor talking down to us! Kudos- and thanks!- to Black and Decker.
This book, is without a doubt, the best book on plumbing that I've seen, and I looked through a lot of them before choosing this one. Just like the title says, it's a complete guide, with excellent photos and numeric tables to help meet code. If you're going to do your own plumbing, I'd recommend this one.
This book is chock full of photos; so much that it detracts from providing information. I was trying to use it to replace a leaking shower faucet, but couldn't find any useful info about my setup. All there was were pictures of valves that weren't mine. I would like to see more troubleshooting chapters, and more possible fitting/material variations outlined. For instance I would like to know how to go from plastic to copper to galvanized etc.
Still if you doing a new install and have access to the exact material they use then it is good for that.
I had always lived in apartments until I purchased my first home last fall. Shortly after I moved into the house, terrible leaks began to develop in the upstairs shower. The diverter no longer worked in the downstairs shower, and no pressure was getting through the shower head. I felt responsible for making the repairs and I didn't know where to start. I sure didn't want to disappoint my wife. I looked through all the plumbing books I could find. Like other reviewers have said, the graphics in this book by far surpass the graphics in any other manual. It is obvious that Black & Decker went to great lengths and expense to create the many excellent cut-away photographs. For my problems with the showers, the photographs showed me what I needed to do in one glance. I quickly knew what parts I needed to get. I needed a new spout dowstairs with a built in diverter. All I needed for the upstairs shower was a couple of o-rings. I also needed to purchase a pipe wrench to loosen the spout. I was able to complete the repairs in about an hour.I am not really sure I would have had the patience to read through a less intuitive book. With the help of this book, I have the confidence to face future plumbing problems.
Though I feel this book was written for the newbie and the weekend warrior do-it-yourselfer, I think it can easily make anyone a better plumber. It's chock-full of tips, tests, and troubleshooting (I bought the book for its detailed explaination on troubleshooting a badly designed trap -- saved me a $200 plumber bill!)
The best part of the book is that it doesn't just tell you how to do it, but explains how the appliances work to give you a better idea on the why-and-how it works.
Covers:
Water heaters
Dishwashers
Floor drains
Jet tubs (Jacuzzis)
Septic systems
Frost-proof faucet (sillcock)
Showers (even installing an enclosure)
Cutting and soldering copper (which makes the $25 price of the book WELL worth it.)
Faucets (with great expanded or "exploded" views of all the inner pieces.
Tools, types of pipe and fittings (why, when and where to use them - which is priceless to someone that is new to this.)
and much much more.
You'll be amazed at how easy it is to fix 90% of your household plumbing problems! I highly recommend this book. - Home Plumbing - Beginners Guide - Do It Yourself - Home Improvement'

Eatsmart Nutrition Scales - accurate, digital
The scale before my purchase of this product was a heavy, bulky glass scale. Sure it looked nice, but due to small bathroom space, I couldn't leave it in one spot and still be able to shut the door. The old scale had rounded edges throughout, so I couldn't even sit it up on end to get it out of the way without risk of it toppling over. When the old one started giving me 4 different readings with each tap of the scale within one minute, I knew it was time for a change.
After looking at several diferent scales, I opted for the EatSmart Precision Premium Digital scale. There is another EatSmart scale on the market which got favorable reviews, but this one was newer and happened to be on sale and therefore cheaper. I felt a little pang of resistance because there was only 1 review at the time of my purchase, and (if you are reading this know you know what I mean) I rely on reviews in making purchases over the internet.
My purchase arrived within a week of order (I did not use expedited shipping). I took it out of the package and the thing that struck me first was how lightweight it was. I installed the four included batteries and away I went weighing everything in sight to see if I could get consistent readings. First up was my four year old daughter. She stepped on, stepped off, and stepped on again. Same weight! Next was my husband, who reluctantly performed the same task. Same weight both times!!
Next it was my turn. I, of course, was not about to weigh-in "group style." So I ran the scale up to my bathroom. I stepped on, stepped off, and stepped on again. Uh-oh. Different weight. BUT, I stepped on again and got the same weight I got the second time around. I did that three or four more times and got the same weight again and again. Afterwards, I went downstairs and read the owner's manual for the scale.
THIS IS IMPORTANT: IF YOU MOVE THE SCALE (AND I MEAN EVEN AN INCH OR SO), YOU NEED TO TAP IT ON AND LET IT TURN ITSELF OFF. THIS PROCESS IS WHAT MAKES THE SCALE ACCURATE. IF YOU MOVE IT AND IMMEDIATELY WEIGH YOURSELF, YOU WILL GET A DIFFERENT WEIGHT BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND READINGS.
The LCD screen is bright and super-easy to read. Readings appear to be accurate . . . I correlated them with an archaic dial scale I have where you can roll the dial to zero the scale. One of the surprising finds for me about this scale is that it is so slim in height that my doors can breeze right over the top without coming in contact with it. That means in my ultra-cramped quarters I don't have to constantly reposition it. Awesome!!
I highly recommend this product. Go ahead . . . buy it. You know you want to : ) EatSmart Precision Premium Digital Bathroom Scale with 3.5" LCD and "Step-On" Technology
Everything is right about this scale except the following:
1) The product description should make it clear that this scale cannot be used on carpet and should be mentioned in the bulletpoint list.
The scale has strain-gauge sensors in each of its four feet, thus if they are on an uneven surface the scale will output multiple changing weights. i.e. it becomes an unstable system. This is even true for very low pile carpet of apartments, almost entirely flat though enough give to render the scale useless without a solid base. So, I cut a piece of Masonite approximately 11" square and put it underneath and it works well-enough to stabilize the scale. A 12" square would work better.
The product description should clearly indicate the need for hard floors while also providing instructions on using the scale on low-pile carpeted surfaces via an additional base which could either be sold with the scale or made at home. It is then mainly an issue of knowing in advance that hard flooring is needed, and those using the scale on low-pile carpeting will need an additional base. Providing customers with this information resolves the issue prior to purchase.
2) A previous anomaly has since been effectively addressed by the company. The company president called to discuss the issue. Not only did they acknowledge it existed, they already had a fix on the way and shipped out a replacement unit.
Because of this admirable customer service I have changed my earlier review from 4 stars to 5 stars - this scale and the company that stands behind their products deserves it.
It is both an excellent scale and value. It is also aesthetically pleasing. My first and remaining impression: I love it. And I enjoy interacting with it everyday.
I have had three other bathroom scales before. All of them measured with an error up to 1 lb per weighting. I had to hit them and step at least three times and average the result to get accurate reading. Makes you want to hit them harder every time.
But this scale is a blessing.
Here are my pros:
- Fine precision, measures right every time
- Big back-lit screen
- No need to hit it, just step on it
- Has a switch for pounds and kilograms - this was very important for me and it was not written clearly on the product description
- Looks nice, feels stable and well built
- Price. Normally you would suspect to pay a premium for the best product. But here you receive it for the normal price of other similar not so good products
Cons:
- My 2 year old likes it very much and weighs herself a lot for fun. Not a con actually :)
Conclusion:
If you need a bathroom scale, look no further, BUY THIS ONE! - Digital - Accurate - Weighing Scale - Affordable'

Gevey Turbo Sim
I was skeptical about this seller at first because of the reviews it had. Wasn't sure if this was an authorized seller or a fake. I contacted the seller and within a day received a reply stating they were an authorized seller and I had nothing to worry about.
They insured me the product would work. After I received this Gevey Sim I followed the instructions and it worked on the first try! Excellent product and so excited to have an unlocked iPhone 4 (04.10.01 firmware) on T-Mobile!
I also bought a sim card cutter to avoid having to wait to activate my old micro sim card (take 24 hours to reactivate an old sim card). Newest Model Gevey Pro Unlock Iphone 4 All Baseband 4.3.2 Pro Verison(ASK SELLER PRO VERSION)
I just got off the phone with Applenberry spoke with Tom and he stated that they only have 2 people on amazon that are authorized seller and confirm that it is onestopshops and madeinchina1478, and told me only to buy from those 2 seller and the rest are fake from other seller.'

Kindle Accessory - screen protector, kindle 2 screen protector
Don't waste your time or money. First of all, they are quite difficult to apply, much more so than the Palm sets which I've applied before. Secondly, you get one (1) in the package! That's right, for $12.95 you get only one! Truly a rip off from my point of view.
I never could get this one completely free of bubbles; close, but not anything one would be proud of. When I did finally get it to where it was 'usuable', I turned on my Kindle and discovered that the anti-glare sheet actually detracted from the quality of the print on the screen, both in natural and artificial light. Now, by the time I got to that point, both the anti-glare sheet and I were wearied. I removed it and discarded the sheet along with my $12.95.
The Kindle screens are not interactive so you really don't need this product anyway as you would with a Palm.
Save your money! BoxWave Kindle (1st Generation) ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector (Single Pack)
As a Kindle owner for the past 10 months, I would say this this product is not necessary. Kindle does not have an interactive screen, so you don't need to be touching or writing on it. I can also testify that the screen itself is very tough, as the arm that held up the middle of the awning on our travel trailer fell directly onto it from a height of at least 6 feet last May. The screen was not damaged, although there is a small mark at the point of impact underneath. It affects the display for about a single letter (the ink techonlogy), but the screen itself was not damaged. This baby is tough.
I purchased a Clear Touch screen protector for my Kindle, even though it was more expensive than competitors. I went by the fact that it was sold by Amazon. The only good news is that it is cut to fit the Kindle. The bad news is that it is extremely hard to install. When I finally got it lined up reasonably well, I could not get all the bubbles out, particularly along some of the edges. I finally gave up and took the screen protector off, tried putting back on again, and the same trouble. I tried three times with a lot of effort but no success. This is the first really disappointing product I have gotten from Amazon.
I received a Kindle2 as a gift from my husband because I am an avid reader. Since my husband wanted to protect my Kindle2 screen from my heavy use (fingerprints, scratches, and the occasional dog drool), he ordered the Kindle ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector for me to install. Because of a back-order, snail mail, and my laziness, I ended up using my Kindle2 for about 3 weeks before applying the screen protector.
I installed per instructions, but had trouble placing the protector on straight without bubbles. It took me several tries to square things up and "squeegee" out the bubbles. The next morining after using my Kindle for several hours, irritating "white noise" crackled intermittently out of my speakers. Later that afternoon, the Kindle started acting screwy. Finally that night, I couldn't open a book. While on the phone with Kindle Customer Service, my Kindle gave up the ghost and died.
Later that week while throwing away the screen protector packaging, I came across a NOTICE from the manufacturer on a sepearate piece of paper, not on the instructions. The Notice states that the maker of the screen protector is NOT responsible for any damage due to the use of water on the screen while installing the protector - that water and electrical devices don't mix.
If I had read the strongly worded Notice before installing the product, I probably wouldn't have put the screen protector on my Kindle2. I know that I can't prove the use of a small amount of soapy water killed my Kindle. But my Kindle was working fine for about 3 weeks; I put on the protector, and 24 hours later, my Kindle2 died.
Pleas note, the protector made my screen more prone to glare and hard to read due to a "wavy" surface. Also, I've had my new Kindle2 for about 2 months and have found that the screen can withstand heavy use, even sticky fingers and the occasional dog drool.
At best, you don't need it - at worst, it could kill your Kindle2.
I think Amazon should include this product or one similar with the Kindle. I was nervous about the screen getting scratched and finally got smart and looked for a screen protector. It did take a few tries to get the bubbles to the edge of the screen, but I'm really pleased with it and pleased with how it cuts down on the glare. It is easily removed if you need to clean it or want to work bubbles out.
I really do recommend this product to Kindle owners.
I have gotten boxwave screen protectors before and have been generally satisfied with them. I have gotten pretty good at applying these suckers perfectly, but for some reason, I could not get this one installed perfectly. The corners are not rounded, so it is difficult to get them into the rounded corners of the kindle 2 since the screen protector is a tiny bit bigger than the screen at these corners. You almost have to put the corners in first, at which point you can't get the bubbles out anymore.
The best screen protectors include the liquid that you spray on it, that helps smooth out bubbles, which boxwave does not include. I used some that I had left over from some other screen protectors, and still couldn't get this on perfect. Stay away from this. It's not really necessary anyway as other reviewers have mentioned. - Screen Protector - Screen Protectors - Kindle - Kindle 2 Screen Protector'

Earphones - earphones, earhook
I bought these because I like the over the ear hook design and the price is very reasonable. They sound good but can get a little uncomfortable. The speaker part that you put in your ear doesn't have any padding and the hard plastic gets a little irritating. They do stay put if you take a moment to put them on as indicated on the packaging; speaker in ear first and then wrap the hook around. If you try to put it on any other way it falls off if you move around. Philips Flexible Earhook Headphones SHS3200/28 (Black) (Replaces SHS3200/37)
I owned a pair of these for about 4 yrs and used them on a daily basis; really put them through the ringer and finally they started to break. I am now buying my second pair. They fit well, and because I had the black colored ones they were invisible with my brown hair - which is helpful when trying to ignore people who are talking to you and you don't really care about what they are saying. The sound quality was good. Even when I was working out and sweating they felt like they were not even there.
I HATE these things. I am sitting here listening to them at work and every time i move my feet, or roll my chair, i get static shock in my ears and it HURTS!!! The stupid metal screens on the earbuds shock me every time i scuff my feet on the ground, or slide in my chair, etc. That is rediculous. I have had these for almost 2 months, and it has done this every time i've worn them (which is almost daily). Despite the fact that I hate them so bad, I try to sit still with them in and they are ok, but nothing special thats for sure. I really need to just get new ones, these are a joke.
I bought these headphones out of desperation while in Denmark when my previous Sonys failed. (I will preface this by saying I paid a lot more than the $6.99 listed here, so my expectations were somewhat higher.)
They were secure around my ears, but the actual speakers fit poorly into my ears, so there wasn't much seal. When using them on a noisy rowing machine, I had to crank the volume up to about 80% on my iPod to keep the song audible. That said, for city bicycling, where it was definitely not good to be blocking out all other sounds, they were quite practical.
The cord was an ongoing nuisance. Every pair of headphones I've had has had some tangling, of course, but this has a very thing cord that seems to kink quite easily. Even after untangling, it gives the feeling that it almost wants to spring back to its tangled mess.
Ultimately, though, the main reason for the 1-star is that after about seven weeks, the things failed. The plug no longer fits in securely, so I need to massage it to be just right in the 3.5mm socket to keep my music from sounding like a distant echo. Spend a bit more on Amazon and get something better.
On the upside, these headphones are cheap, fit the ears well and stay put, and don't have any foam or fabric to get gross if you use them for working out. The sound is OK, not setting the world on fire but acceptable for the price.
The main problem is the cord. It is constantly getting kinked and tangled. I think it may have to do with the type of wire used. I have probably 6 pairs of headphones and this is the only pair that does this so I am sure it is not a usage problem.
Because of this cord issue, I would recommend against purchasing these headphones.
I've been using these headphones while working out and running for the past 3 years. They wear out after about 6-9 months depending on how much use they get and how much sweat and abuse they have to endure. They only come in one size and that one size happens to fit my ears perfectly. They are clearly marked L and R and they clip on easily and securely. Apparently the one size didn't work out well for my wife who couldn't get one of them to stay on her ear. Her ears have a different shape than mine and for whatever reason the plastic earhook wasn't flexible enough to work for her.
I have no complaints about the sound quality, but if you're in a gym or running on a street you shouldn't be worried about achieving optimum sound quality - save that for the Bose comfort headphones. My only complaint is that after a little while the cord tends to get all twisted/tangled and annoying to deal with. I always tuck it under my shirt and through my sleeve to my armband IPod case, but the part of the cord that sticks out from neck can be annoying.
Overall if you're looking for something functional and secure for running and working out you can't do better than these headphones for less than $10.
I have trouble keeping traditional ear buds comfortably in my ears and noise-isolating ear buds make me feel like an ear infection is coming on due to sealing the ear canal. I had some good luck with a pair of my wife's Sony ear hook ear buds and thought I would give Philips a chance. As expected the audio quality from these ear buds is quite good, as is typical of Philips products, much better than the equivalently priced Sony model. The fitment, however, is imperfect. The buds are arranged the way traditional ear buds are, to the ear hook holds them loosely outside the ear rather than any significant portion of the speaker bud fitting in the ear. This causes them to feel loose and require some fiddling. This looseness can also be a problem if you wear glasses. Despite the problems, however, they are still a worthy product (for me, at least) as they're a good compromise point: better sound at the cost of only some discomfort. - Earphones - Running Headphones - Earhook - Sport Headphones'

Video Production - dvd holders, portable dvd player car case
I just received this case and I am happy with the quality and it is as I expected it to be in that regard. I went with this one becasue you don't have to have it open like a tray table on the back of the seat, you can flip the top up and over and it lays flat against the seat, the other cases don't seem to do this.
My hope was that when I got it I could easily strap it to just one seat as opposed to between the two seats as the product is intended. I didn't want to have the dvd player in between the seats because I still need to reach the children durning long rides and this I feel would impede my ability to do that, besides I feel it is more comfortable to look at the dvd player right in front of you anyway. You can easily attach it to just the one seat although the velcro flap you need to need to wrap around the top anchor strap is a little bit of a pain to get in if you mount it in this fashion. I plan to get another case just for transporting the dvd players and I intend to keep these cases in the car all the time as it will be to much of a hassle to take the cases in and out of the car each time and far easier to remove the player and put it in another seperate case especially since I have two, one for each child. The main thing I like is the ability to fold the dvd player flat in the case so it will stay flush against the back of the seat and hopefully not get kicked as easily by the children when they are watching. So, so far so good hopefully it will work out well in the long run. But for those of you who like the look of this case and but didn't want a between the seats mounting, it can be mounted on the back of one seat easliy. Case Logic PDVK-10 7 to 10-Inch In-Car Portable DVD Player Case (Black)
I bought this for my mini van to use it with my Sony 8 inch DVD player. It fits the player nicely. There are two earphone jacks on the bottom for easy access. Great for storing your car charger and discs and there is enough room for even the ear phones.
Here is how it works: Basically you suspend a strap between the two head rests and attach the case with a velcro that loops over the strap. Simple and a little bit primitive. I have a Windstar with headrests that are just an extention of the seat and don't rest on a metal bar. It probably works better if you have the adjustable headrests in your car.
The good news is that you can just remove the case from the strap and leave the strap when you want to take it out of the car.
The player is attached to the case with one skimpy little strap as well. So far it has been holding out but I wish it looked a little bit more sturdy.
I purchased this case to go with our Sony DVP-FX930/W 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, both from this site. I am pretty happy with is so far. It fits nicely on the back of my seat, but I have a 2007 Corolla and when we tried to put it in the middle of the two seats, it was way too close to my son. He could have kicked it or played with it in that location (we place his carseat in the middle so that he can see out). So, we settled for placing it on the back of the passenger seat, and that worked out well. My only real complaint is that it was hard to open the dvd player to change the DVD without the compartment door, catching on the case. It wasn't a big deal, because I would just hold back the sides of the case when I went to change a DVD, but I still wanted to mention it. Overall, this was a good purchase and I would recommend it.
I recently purchased a Sony DVP-FX820 8 inch portable DVD Player and needed case for my van. The case works great just as advertised. It holds all of the cords and a couple of movies. I would buy it again.
Bought this for watching a Sony DVP-FX930/R 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, Red in the second row of our Honda Pilot.
The player fit nicely inside, though previous reviewers are correct - the design of the "security" strap probably doesn't work as well with this particular player as it does with others, since the strap does slip down in the crack between the swivel screen and the player body. But we found it was sufficiently stable if we 'snugged' the strap up as high as possible within the lower slots in the bag, and made sure it was tight.
Our kids never complained about it swaying back and forth, because we tightened the floor-mount straps and the suspension strap upon every install.
And the Grab 'n Go feature is a bit misleading. Sure, you just have to open the velcro strap at the top, disconnect the two floor straps, disconnect the headphones and DC adaptor cable, close the velcro strap, zip up the bag, and THEN go... And the hooks on the floor straps are unusually hard to open, so that slows things down, too.
One more thing: There's a decent amount of storage space in the bag, but don't plan on carrying more than 2 or 3 full-size DVD snapcases. We opted for a 'disc-only' wallet that housed 24 individual DVD's - and fit nicely into the bag, STILL with room for the cables and remote control.
So, did it work? Yes. Was it secure? Yes. Was it as easy as advertised? Not exactly... but I'd buy it again. - Portable Dvd Case - Dvd Holders - Portable Dvd Player Car Case - Dvd Player Carrying Case'
