Interior Accessories - battery charger, automotive
This little charger works equally well when charging and maintaining both 6 and 12 volt automotive batteries. It's a good choice for maintaining batteries in cars which are driven only on special occasions. Schumacher SC-600A SpeedCharge High Frequency Battery Charger
It can charge both 6V and 12V batteries, with different amp selection. Different from some of the older style charger, this one will automatically shutoff when charge is full. So you can plugin, clamp on, turn on and walk away doing other things. Never worry about overcharge the battery.
It is light weight and great tool to have, if you have a lot of batteries around. We use it to charge and check the batteries for the large UPS power supplies in our office. Properly maintained battery can extend its life so much, worth many times the cost of this charger.
I purchased the product from Walmart for about $30.00. I purchased it as a compliment to a more powerful but not automatic charger I already have. My main purpose is to keep boat batteries charged during the off season. After reading the instructions and hooking it up it went through the charging and stopping cycles as indicated in the user's manual. All of the indicator lights worked as stated in the manual. So far I have charged two batteries. I hooked them up in the evening, the indicator light showed they were at about 75% charge. By morning they were fully charged and the charging cycle had stopped. According to the user's manual once the charging stops it goes into a maintainance mode where it monitors the battery and when it falls below a pre-set charge, it begins a recharge cycle again. The automatic function is nice because you dont have to worry about over charging. The 6 ft power cord and 6 ft charging cables are convenient because I could charge my boat battery in the garage without having to use an extension chord. I have only charged two batteries but so far, so good.
I tried to start my lawn tractor recently and found that the battery was very severely DEAD!!. I went online and purchased this Schumacher SC-600A speed charger. I hooked it up overnight and that battery was fully charged and quite able to start my tractor the next morning. Great performance, and very easy to use. Next, we're going to top off the car batteries before the really cold weather sets in.
This charger works perfectly. I have had other chargers over the years and have borrowed chargers from friends and family. The last one I used was from a neighbor and, although it said that the two batteries I tried were charged, they would not crank the car or lawn tractor at all. I put both batteries through a full charge with the Schumacher and both came up trumps. Both the car and lawn tractor fired up immediately. I returned the neighbors charger and have not looked back. It was well worth the price as I would have had to replace both batteries. Highly recommended.
I bought this battery charger based upon the Schumacher reputation. I've only used it twice so far, but very happy so far. The 3 ranges of current fit my needs well.
I also don't need to be concerned with overcharging since it's capable of switching to a trickle charge after the battery has reach the full charge state.
I used this charger on 7 to 9 amp/hour batteries. At first it charged the batteries fine but I started to notice that when charging at 2 amps it wouldn't register as fully charged sometimes. It would stay to 4 bars but not go to the charged light even after a longer than normal time. I would change to 4 amps and then it would be fully charged. I worry that it may be overcharging some batteries.
I also noticed that it couldn't read some 6 volt rechargable lantern batteries (4.5 amp/hour). This is the main reason I bought this charger. I have a automated Schumacher 1.5 amp charger and thought well of the company, that is why I wanted to buy another Schumacher.
The charger seems to work fine on larger batteries automotive or motorcycle, so it is good for that.
Schumacher's basic charger - 6V or 12V, 2A, 4A & 6A charge rate. Automatic charger that charges, then goes to maintenance mode. Their more expensive chargers have higher charge rates (10A & higher) and additional built-in metering like voltmeter to test state of charge, etc.
I am using it exclusive for my 2 cars in the winter. Went on vacation and returned 6 days later to find the car wouldn't start when the trunk lid (truck light) was left open. With regular below 32 degree weather in the winter in Wash DC, bought this to maintain the 2 car batteries. After jump starting my wife's car, decided to buy this to charge the battery and monitor battery condition (can't leave her stranded or home alone with a dead car battery).
Instructions were simple, but use caution anyway. Charger had approx 6 feet alligator clip cables to connect to battery and keep away from battery (acids, fumes, etc.). With negative-grounded car, attach red clip to positive battery terminal, then black clip to ground (charger must be unplugged from AC). Then plug into AC. Charger has "connection" indicator tyo show a battery is recognized. Then select 6V/12V, then select charge rate (2A or more). When charging, has "charge" indicator light and 3 lights (25%, 50%, 75%) to show progress. When fully charged, 3 progress lights go off and green "charged" indicator lights up and it goes into maitenance mode. Unplug the charger, then disconnect the 2 clips from the battery.
The unit has a five (5) year warranty; very few electrical/electronic devices now have a warranty beyond 1 year. Even the big appliances like washers, dryers, dish washers now come with just 1 year -- the manufacturer effectively increased the price by 10% which is about the repair rate for the 3rd to 5th years.
I bought the Schumacher SC-600A along with the Schumacher SE82-6 to see which one works better on my 12V batteries. So I tried both of them out this past weekend. The SE86-2 costs a little more and is completely manual. While the SE82-6 has a dial indicating the current charging/maintaining Amp, I found the SC-600A to be not only convenient but also worry free. I had to keep watch on the SE86-2 every 4 hours while it was charging and saw the Amp needle move down as the battery charged to full. On the SC-600A I just left it overnight (at the suggestion of other reviewers) and didn't worry about it. When I woke up the next morning the Green light was on to indicate the charge was complete.
The SC-600A also has a nice feature in it where it will Desulfate your battery if you left it uncharged for too long (according to Schumacher's website and manual). None of my batteries were left uncharge to that state so the SC-600A did not kick in to that mode. One thing I wish the SC-600A has would be the digital or needle Amp readout to indicate either the percentage of battery charged or current Amps. I know the bigger brother model SC-1000A and SC-1200A both have the digital read out but I wasn't looking for a charger greater than 6 Amps since that's enought for most applications. But for the price, you can't beat the convenience of the SC-600A charger. - Automotive - Schumacher - Battery Charger - Chargers'

Ink Bottle - ink, fountain pen
On a certain level ink is ink - how much more can you say about it? There certainly are questions of durability, strength, permanence (also known as washability), and the tendency to bleed through a typical sheet of paper. On those counts Parker's Quink is very strong in terms of durability and strength; sometimes a little too strong however. Bottled Quink can all too often bleed through less thick paper and even onto the sheet behind it, less than ideal under most circumstances. Quink works fine on heavier stock paper but anything less and you're likely to get a sloppy mess. I'd used Quink for ages, but after trying Sheaffer's Skrip I've made the switch on bottled ink. Yet the weird thing is I've never had this particular problem with the Quink in Parker's cartridges; they just don't demonstrate that tendency. Quink also used to be available in a broader array of colors, but now it's limited to a handful, which again isn't the case with Sheaffer's Skrip. Parker works fine in virtually every fountain pen out there so it really comes down to a matter of preference. Parker Super Quink Washable Ink for Parker Pens, 1.9-oz. Bottle, Blue (3006100)
I like the ink generally. It goes on dark and dries quickly. The one thing I would like to improve is how light it gets when it dries. I'd prefer it stay darker. Maybe it's the way I write, but the ink seems to be just as light as ink from a ballpoint pen. - Fountain Pen - Ink - Fountain Pen Ink - Fountain Pens'

Graphics Cards - geforce, graphics cards
Pros: After much debate, I decided this would be the card to replace my trusty ATI 5770. While the 5770 was a good well-built card, this thing is a major step up. I went from a 128-bit bus with a bandwidth of about 75 GB/s to this card with a 256-bit bus and, with the factory overclocks, a bandwidth of 134.8 GB/s! And I haven't even tried overclocking it myself yet. All my games are maxed out, or at least close. I play Bad Company 2 at 1920 x 1080 with Advanced visual settings, all DX11 features on, and 4x AA and getting at least 60 FPS. (This according to FRAPS.. and my monitor's refresh rate is capped at 60 FPS) The card is also quiet... no louder than the whisper-quiet 5770 it replaced. It's good to be back to Nvidia. My ATI card was great with solid and mature drivers, but I always felt Nvidia has their stuff together better on that front.
Cons: Not much at all. This card is obviously high quality. I did notice that it gets a little warm. After only 30 mins of playing BC2, temps were up to around 63 C, and I have a large very well-ventilated case. But I suppose that's to be expected with the factory overclocking, so it is what it is.
Other Thoughts: I think this card hits that sweet spot for upper-midrange performance on a budget. I picked this up for $250 even on sale with free shipping, so the value is non-debatable. Of course there are people who say "a GTX 570 is better". Well of course it is. That's why its a GTX 570 and this is a 560. Still, this card crushes most games and normally costs $100 less. And no, you can't play Crysis or Metro 2033 maxed out... but not many cards can. And stop me if I'm wrong, but as technically impressive as the above games are, they just aren't that GOOD. They score sky-high on visuals and technical prowess, but not so much on originality or fun. And even if you DO like these games, this card can run them just fine.. not maxed out, but more than playable while looking good. This card is solid. EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Superclocked 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card - Lifetime Warranty 01G-P3-1563-AR
This review is going to get a bit technical, but not really heavy duty technical stuff about the nVidia Fermi cards, just some basic rocket science with THIS particular nVidia card, and I hope you all find it worthy of reading; I'll try and make it interesting with some practical applications of the science I'm talking about.
First and foremost this is an EVGA video board, and I cannot say enough about EVGA the company, their tech support, and their place in the manufacturer's championships at No.1, and I think that is not even debatable, it's factual. With the ONLY Lifetime Warranty in its class for this type of video card, the EVGA 560Ti SuperClocked video card is factory overclocked all right, but there's still room up at the top for even higher pursuits, which I'll describe in full in just a second. But first some of those techno-babbles that I hinted at earlier:
1) The 560 Ti series is the first video card from EVGA/nVidia to use the famed GF114 Processor (GPU)chip, which is an all new architecture with many new features
2) The GF114 CPU is cut on 40nm technology, which means it's lighter and smaller and able to achieve very high clock cycles because it's easier to keep cool, among other interesting features
3) With 137GB/sec bandwidth, a 256-bit bus, 384 Unified Shaders, and 1024MB of DDR5 VRAM (MLC memory to be specific) this card yields 30.7 GigaPixels for its pixel fillrate, and 61.4 GTexels for its texture fillrate, on a 32 ROPs PCI-E 16X bus interface: all this means is that it's incredibly fast at rendering scenery and game action is blinding fast, and all you have to do is plug it in and give it a 16X bus PCI-E slot and you're Golden!
4) It supports DirectX 11.0/10.0/SM5.0 out of the box without drivers, and with 1950 Million transistors is one of the most dense and compact video cards in its base board construction of all the Fermi nVidia cards at any price point
5) The 560 Ti SC is a "compact" form factor video card, therefore it fits into places which the large, and bulky 12"+ nVidia cards and even larger ATI video boards cannot squeeze, so you get a lot of video card power in a small form factor of just less than 11-inches, a very good thing for Mini-ATX and small form factor case builders
6) With Base Default clocks of 900Mhz Core, 1053Mhz Memory, and 1800Mhz Shader clocks it's one of the highest clocked OEM cards around, and with conditioning and proper adjustment can be overclocked significantly, and OpenCL, CUDA, PhysX, and DirectCompute 5.0 are natively supported too
7) In spite of the high clocks, the 560Ti SC is a low voltage video card, because it's efficient and can operate with the GF114 CPU at very low power settings, to wit at overclocked settings of 960/1920/2140Mhz the voltage is only 1.0370Volts at 100% GPU Load
Using Precision Video Card Utility, or MSI Afterburner if you prefer that flavor graphics card performance minder, it is possible to adjust the clocks significantly to achieve even higher performance clocks for demanding game play, or PhysX of Folding@Home workouts where time is the enemy and you only have so much of it to get a given result. I am running my GTX 560 Ti SC's (in SLI in my case, I have two of them) at the aforementioned 960/1920/2140Mhz clocks and using both cards for Folding@Home, each one with a dedicated Work Unit 24/7 365 days a year with excellent results!
My two video cards in an overclocked Core i7 970 CPU-equipped EVGA Classified E760-based computer are averaging almost 20,000 Points Per Day for my Folding@Home efforts, a most enjoyable situation that I have going! As I look at them right now, I am typing on that computer which is also my office server and my media and multi-media machine, with multiple RAID configurations off an Areca 1680IX-8 Hardware RAID Bus Master-- those video cards are cranking out two FAHome work units right now at 99% Load on the CPU for each card, and the cards are at 73-degrees for card NO.1, and 69-degrees Celsius for card NO.2, steady as rocks in Gibraltar. They have been doing this same dance for almost 7 months and counting, having put them in service at the first part of February, 2011, and they have not missed a day of work or play in all that time, 100% up time for these cards and my computer overclocked to 4.2Ghz no less! Pretty KUHL, right?
I also play some games on this CPU, with Crysis 2 and BC2 being my favorites presently, and with the video cards in SLI I can crank up the settings to just less than 1000Mhz Core clock and 2200Mhz Memory clocks and play either one of those high-demand games at full 1080P on my Samsung 46" LED LCD HDTV, which the computer is hooked up to via Mini-HDMI to HDMI switch off card No.1 with perfect resolution and unbelievable game play! There is no end to the joy that my card duo can bring me, as they are arguably the best pair of sub-$500 video cards that exist, and I've got a lifetime's warranty on both cards from EVGA to boot, the best situation possible! FRAPS says I am pulling more than 45FPS average in Crysis 2 at 1080P and BC2 yields 50-70+FPS goodness, an unreal performance from two video cards that I paid less than $500 for the both of them! Amazing!
What is left to encapsulate for the nice people about the EVGA 560 Ti SC's? Well, I do admit that I crank up the fans for Folding@Home work, and they can make a trifle bit of NOISE at their highest settings (80%+ and higher), but that is to be expected if you don't want to burn the cards up to melted circuit boards! That single fan in this configuration is more than doing the job, by the way, so there's no need for a twin-fan setup with the 560 Ti SC's, such as the MSI "Double frozen blah blah" cards have going for those setups...totally unnecessary!
Normally the twins are driving a set of Acer 24" LED LCD displays, that is when they are not playing games and driving the Samsung HDTV, and I have gotten better than 30K 3DMarks in 3DMark '06, and scored 24K 3DMarks in Vantage, which was accomplished with heavy overclocking on both video cards in SLI and the 970 CPU @ 4.4Ghz...air cooling on everything, by the way, no H20 in the house. I have found these two video cards to be my best investment in years and years in video boards. I mean what is there to say about two premium cards that cost less than $500 for the both of them, shipped? That is truly sick and totally crazy, but true! I mean two years ago I paid more than $700 for a pair of EVGA GTX-285 SC's and they don't even compare to these two at all, not even close.
Wavey Davey gives this video card his uncompromising HIGHEST RATING POSSIBLE, the Wavey Davey Double Gold Trophy for incredible performance and engineering, and a Lifetime Warranty in addition from the mother ship EVGA also! Incredible! You cannot go wrong with a pair of these, and I encourage anyone/everyone with the ability to support an SLI arrangement of this video card to GO FOR IT! You will not be disappointed! Can you imagine a Tri-SLI setup with this card in the house? Woooo-Hoooo! Get yours today!
As for single-card use, that is fine and dandy, you can't go wrong there either but what a shame if you don't or can't support an SLI gig with two of these monsters in the house! In any case, this is the finest video card for the $$ in existence today, even after being out almost 8 months now I can still say that, and that is amazing in and of itself the way the video card market changes so quickly, like hamburgers at McDonald's! The EVGA 560 TI SuperClocked video card is Da Kind...you cannot beat it so you'd best be writing out that list for the new computer and include at least one of these in the parts list, and if you're replacing an old video card with one/two of these you also cannot go wrong: this is the best value for the almighty $$$ on planet earth today!

Poor Customer Service - ballerina, kids
I purchased two items from this supplier; a hat and a pair of shoes. The hat was fine but the shoes were poorly manufactured and the flowers fell off when the shoes taken out of the box - both shoes!! I have called and sent messages for two weeks. No one has called me back and I received two messages; one asking for more details on the problem and one telling me they are requesting flowers from the manufacturer. I asked if they expected us to repair the shoes. I haven't heard from them since then and that's been more than a week. This supplier seems to do a good job of sending merchandise out but has very poor service after the sale. I order online at least three times a week so I'm not a novice and this is not acceptable. I don't know exactly how I will resolve this, but I will never order from this supplier again nor will I recommend it to other buyers. It's not worth the headache if there is a problem with the order you receive. Mud Pie Baby Buds Ballet Slippers, Pink - Baby Gift - Baby Clothing - Kids - Ballerina'

Wet Erase Markers - board dudes, markers
I bought these for my child to use in her wipe off books (that I also purchased from amazon) thinking that kids love colors and these were inexpensive for the variety of colors she loves them and uses them all the time and it also helps with learning colors! I also use the markers to homeschool on our dry erase board and they are fantasic, wipe off well, dry fast and they are really pretty!! Excellent buy! Board Dudes 2-in-1 Double-Sided Dry Erase Markers (42402BDUA-24)
Bought this set of markers for the brown color, mainly. The set came with other really beautiful colors that I find myself and my coworkers using them more than the other billion dry-erase marker we have.
I like the way these markers write. I buy Quartet brand whenever possible but didn't find them on amazon until after I purchased these. These Board Dudes markers are rather nice. They write smoothly and erase great. Most of the colors are bright and clear. The "dark" green is sadly barely distinguishable from the teal green, but is dealable. I don't know how well they will last, especially after my 4 year old has a chance to use them, but for the price, I'm not particularly concerned.
These markers are fine-pointed and provide a very narrow to invisible line when used on a vertical white board surface. They are inconsistent with ink delivery and all around leave you wanting. I don't recommend these markers.
The product description for these dry erase markers mentions a "bold" tip, and that they make "distinct" lines. I thought this meant they would create a similar line to a bullet or chisel tipped dry erase markers. These tips are tapered to FINE POINTS, making about a 3/64" line, unless you lay the marker over on it's side where you can use the wider tapered surface.
I've uploaded a picture of the tip of one of these markers so you can see if it's what you're looking for. I like the variety of colors, but it's helpful to know that in general, dry erase colors other than black, blue, and red, often leave a greasy residue that is not easy to erase.
I was really excited to get these markers. I thought the double-sided idea was really cool and fun, and I was really excited to use them in my 8th grade classroom. When I tried them, I was extremely disappointed. The point is too thin, so it doesn't create a thick enough line to be seen easily in the classroom. The flow of ink was also disappointing. The markers don't make a very bold line - in fact they write like other markers do when they are running out of ink. A bolder line could have offset how thin they are. My students also enjoy using markers on the white board and they were equally disappointed with the performance of this product that had looked so promising. Maybe these markers would be OK in a home setting - for a white board calendar or something similar - but they are not useful for a teacher to use in a classroom.
I've been using these markers on a Quartet melamine dry-erase board (this one: Quartet® Standard Dry-Erase Board, Melamine, 36 x 24, White, Aluminum Frame).
Pros:
- Pretty colors, and lots of them.
Cons:
- Very fine point (similar to a Sharpie fine tip like these: Sharpie Twin Tip Fine Point and Ultra Fine Point Permanent Markers, 2 Black Markers (32162PP)). Sufficient for me, since my whiteboard is just above my desk for my own reference, but I don't think it would be easily readable at a distance of more than a few feet.
- Watered-down color - on the board, they're not as bright or as opaque as I'd like. Writing tends to come out looking "outlined" - the middle of the line is light, while the edges are darker.
- This is my deal-breaker: does not erase well. Using this dry-erase eraser (EXPO Dry Erase Precision Point Eraser with Replaceable Pad, Felt, 9.75 Width x 3.25 Depth (8473KF)) removes maybe half of the writing, if I'm lucky. In some cases the eraser was completely ineffective. This is for writing that had been on the board for maybe two or three weeks. The markers do come off cleanly with whiteboard cleaning solution.
Not recommended & I wouldn't buy again - these are going in the trash.
Instead, take a look at these markers, which work much better for me: Board Dudes Double-Sided Magnetic Dry Erase Markers, 4 Packs (14002UA-24)
I like these Board Dudes dry-erase markers. I bought them specifically because they are the only markers that will stay on my food containers. It stays on the plastic lids while in the fridge or freezer. When it's time to wash my lids, I just use my dish soap liquid and it comes off. No other dry-erase marker I have found can do this. I don't want to use Sharpie markers because those are permanent. Other dry erase markers don't work on plastic containers. And I don't want to buy those expensive food labels. THis has saved me alot of time and I know how long I've had those leftovers in the fridge!
These markers are bright and thick enough for use on any dry erase board. I have three boards for personal organizing: blue, pink, and green (from Board Dudes). All the colors show up and they erase easily as well. I would buy a million of these if the variety in this one pack weren't so wide! - Dry Erase Board - Dry Erase - Markers - Board Dudes'

Cell Phone Headsets - jabra headset, cell phone headsets
I have had several Jabra headsets now and really there the only ones I will use. Unlike most I really don't like bluetooth head sets and prefer the corded version. I just find them easier - plug in and go. Plus there is no worry about the battery being charged. This hands free model is clear on both the speakers and the listeners ends. The boom also makes sure that the background noise is limited. Jabra C510 2.5mm/3.5mm Headset
I don't like Bluetooth on my ear sending signals constantly. This headset is perfect. It comes with both size plugs (2.5mm/3.5mm) and works great with my LG Dare cell phone. I recommended it to my son and he got one for his Droid cell phone. He is also very satisfied with this product. Great price also.
I cannot seem to keep track of the pricey Bluetooth headsets. They are so small I frequently misplace them in my purse, car & a number of other places that I cannot retrieve them. So I decided to go back to the old school wired headsets that I once used. I recalled Jabra being one of the better brands so I purchased one for me & one for my husband. These fit comfortably, the sound quality is excellent and the price is perfect. I used to spend $100 for each bluetooth device, 95% less is fabulous. I would highly recommend!
I have no complaints about this headset. It is the most comfortable one I have ever used. I have had no complaints about its sound clarity in two months of use.
Buyers of this product should know that the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor is the problem. I would have given the Jabra C510 5 stars for its combination of quality and value, but the adaptor makes this a 3 star product at best. In two months, the very thin wire in the adaptor has frayed through. I am looking for a new adaptor, and a good one, if I can find it, will cost about as much as the headset with adaptor originally cost. In fact, the required adaptor, one which would enable an iPhone 4 to accept the jack from an old 2.5mm headset, is not as common as you might expect. I am still looking. Next time, I will buy a headset that does not require an adaptor.
This item worked great for a month. Unsure why? Luckily it comes with a converter which I was able to hook my old head piece to. The company has yet to contact me back. I know it was under $10. I wouldn't waste your money.
Judging by the reviews this headset is hit or miss. Guess I got a miss. I hear everything crisp and clear, but everyone complains about how I sound on their end. I'm also needing to use the adapter which seems to be when most people are having quality problems. Interestingly, people stated that their adapter converted 3.5mm to 2.5mm, mine was the opposite. That's actually why I took a chance on it thinking I wouldn't need the sketchy adapter. The search continues....
UPDATE:
So I ended up buying a Plantronics headset which I used the same adapter for that came with this headset. Perfect clarity on both ends. So it wasn't the adapter after all, the headset itself is garbage. I also tested this headset with the voice recorder and it is indeed very scratchy and crackles. - Cordless Phone Headset - Cell Phone Headsets - Earpiece - Jabra Headset'

Cell Phone Battery Charger - battery charger, cell phone battery charger
I like to watch movies on my iPod Touch on long flights, so after looking into a number of dedicated iPod battery solutions that cost $75 or more, I found this nifty solution for a fraction of the cost. Since I wasn't sure how much extra juice I would need for video playback for up to ten hours, I picked up three of these when they were on sale for $15, figuring that would be enough to do the job.
I ran the fully charged iPod with one of these batteries connected from the outset (as opposed to waiting for the iPod to drain and then recharge it later), and, surprisingly, made it through an entire long haul flight from L.A. to Tokyo with only one battery. In fact, there was still plenty of charge left on the iPod when I landed, so the other two batteries turned out to be unnecessary. Since these Lithium-Ion batteries are so lightweight, it didn't matter anyway -- I see no downside to a little overkill when it comes to reserve power. The only minor gripe I have is that it's easy to accidentally hit the ON/OFF switch when stuffing these into my bag, which seems to allow them to discharge more rapidly over time. A little care when packing should prevent this.
This product is an example of a simple, elegant solution that's also very low cost compared with dedicated recharging products. I'd recommend investing in a couple of these to anyone who depends on portable devices that can be charged via USB. Duracell Instant USB Charger with Lithium ion battery / includes universal cable with USB and mini USB,
I've been extremely happy with this product! With the unit fully charged, it will take my iPhone 3G from about 1/4 charge to a full charge in about 45 minutes. It's an extremely simple design. It has a mini-USB connector on the bottom labeled IN which is where you plug it in to charge, and then a full-sized USB connector labeled OUT on the top where you connect your device's USB cable. The IN port has an LED indicator which is RED while the unit is charging and GREEN once it's fully charged. On the face of the unit near the "copper top" there's another indicator light that is GREEN while charging your iPhone/Blackberry/RAZR and RED once charging is complete and the unit is drained.
I would highly recommend this unit for heavy iPhone users on the go. It's not the most optimal solution, but until Apple makes an iPhone with interchangeable batteries, it's the best option we've got.
Been looking for a solution like this and my thought process was to buy a battery from a battery manufacturer rather than a Belkin or Griffin. Works perfectly and is a great spare battery. It is also very very light so you can keep it plugged in while using the phone that's being charged!
I used to use a "MintyBoost" power supply, but the thing always seemed to have dead batteries and it is rather heavy, so I reluctantly decided to look for a replacement. This Duracell looked like the most responsive to my needs--others are beefier but they are much bigger and heavier--so I took a run at this one and have been pretty pleased. It's feather light and will charge off of just about any USB output, and it provides enough juice to charge and/or operate most USB appliances at least partially. The on-off switch is handy and not overly easy to flip on by accident. It has a charging state indicator on one end next to the "input" and a power state indicator on the top fascia next to the Duracell logo. I have gotten it to work successfully and consistently with my 3G iPod, Blackberry, and Plantronics Blue-Toof earbuds. I have gotten it to work with my 2G Kindle only once, with difficulty, and slooooowly--I don't know what the problem is here, still troubleshooting on this; it could be something about my USB micro adapter. Since the Kindle's battery life is EXTREMELY long and since I classify the Kindle as not-quite-essential during travel--there is wailing and gnashing without it, but I survive and am not fired--this is not a huge big deal, though it is annoying. Hence, 4 instead of 5 stars (for now at least).
Something I had trouble confirming from Duracell's website--which, by the way, is not overly informative as it is mostly MARKETING HYPE about their AWESOME PRODUCTS and how many MILLIAMP HOURS they all offer, and doesn't provide device compatibility or current capability info that I can find--is that there is an A-type USB female on one end that is the "output" and a 5-pin B-type USB mini female on the other end that is the "input." This is the layout you would expect but I had a deuce of a time confirming it before purchase. Thus, for most appliances, the plugs, adapters, and gee-gaws you already have will let you use this unit-no need to buy more. It ships with a wee little A-type male to 5-pin B-type male that is actually kind of handy itself.
Recommended, but be wary if you want to use it with a Kindle.
LATER ADDITION: Now eight months later and I've had some time to use it. I weigh it at 1.5 ounces, and it has 1100mAh capacity with 0.6A / 3W max load printed on the label. There is an indicator on it that tells you when it's on, when it's charged, and when it needs charging. You can get a well-reviewed 5000mAh supply for about 5 ounces, but I'm thinking of buying a second one of these so that I have a backup around if I screw up and discharge one and because I am tired of lugging heavy crap all over the world's largest airports on a regular basis. These performance numbers seem reasonable to me; I get about a third of a tank if I empty it into my iPhone 4, and my older Blackberry would accept it, too (you know they're crazy at AIM about having 500mA on their charger input), so the 600mA seems plausible. - Cell Phone Battery Charger - Battery Charger - Cell Phone Accessory - Charger'

Jump Start - jump start, jump starters
I got this battery jumper and was not sure if it would do the job. For the price it should.Well it did I took it up the mountain to start our tractor, and it worked great.I started it 7 or 8 times and the jumper was still going strong. You get what you pay for and in this case it was worth it.It's nice to know that you don't have to worry about a jumper. It was very cold out and it started right up.The only thing about this battery that some might not like is that it is a tad heavy.I would not want to carry it too far,but if you do not care about the weight then there is no other one out there that will compare to this one.If i get another one it will be another one of these.Great buy. ATD Tools 5928 12 V 1700 Peak Amp JumpStart
i like this product very much. i use it for industrial purpose as i work with aaa and it works great. use it all day and night and charge when i have down time. great product, rugged and easy access to replace the battery instead of buying a new pack. i am still on the original and have only pros
I think this Jump Pack could start the Space Shuttle!! It is a little big and a little heavy but man can this thing crank! The best feature is the long cables. they are very soft and flexible. you can set the pack on the ground and the cables will easily reach your battery. Nice for when you don't have a spot under the hood to balance the pack while you start your vehicle. I will be ordering another one for my dad's birthday.
Look no further, this is the last pack you'll need!
The ATD 5928 is built to stand the wear and tear from constant use. It is charged using a charger that has a 120vac to 12vdc transformer on one end and a cigarette lighter plug on the other end. It is not a typical set up. When I tried to find a replacement cable, the company had no idea where to specifically find the part. They don't support the product, the consumer needs to search on their own and/or design there own replacement part. For a product that sells for somewhere between $90 and $199, depending on where you look and how much the shipping will cost, that seems like a very problematic philosophy for running a company. You either provide parts support, make the parts standard off of someone's shelf, or you send two sets of the parts most likely to fail.
Did 3-4 jumpstarts in a single charge with plenty of juice remaining. One of them was a chevy 350 truck (I left the lights on like an idiot).
I feel the design of the clamps is annoying and restrictive. It's too big, and the plastic covers too much, which makes it hard to get into small spaces sometimes. Also, trying to boost a side-post is a serious pain, but that could be more the side-post's fault than the booster's.
Built-in float charger is always appreciated. Doesn't have a built-in tire inflator or inverter or anything like that.
I just got this item and first impressions is, WOW!!! While it wasnt cheap i think you get what you pay for with this item. The box is solid and the cables and clamps are very well built. I bought this to replace another box that cost $80(broke) and for just the little more i paid for this one, it was a good choice. The cables are plenty long and the float charge is great for not having to baby it like i had to before. Its nice not having to worry about the battery over charging. Another plus is being able to change the power cell because the box is built to last so i think it will last longer than the battery.
Bought this to replace a older starting unit from Home Depot that didn't have enough power to turn over the car. Batteries are heavy and you can tell right away that there is a substantial battery inside this unit because it it heavy. This unit was the most powerful I could find and on my first use as soon as I hooked it up the whole car came alive with radio, AC blower and everything else that was on when the car was last turned off. The motor turned over as quickly as a normal start. The cables are long enough to leave the unit on the ground and reach the battery and very flexible making them easy to maneuver. Very happy with this purchase, my neighbor has borrowed it twice now and is about to order one for themselves.
Nice, I can have security at home when I travel overseas that if my wife leaves her lights on, she can jump start her car by herself. unit can stay plugged into the wall with no problems. Handy on the trail when a rig dies. Solid, rugged construction. I am very pleased with this. Of course if you try cranking too long, the box will go dead, you get about two jumps to a charge, but you can hook it up to a cigaret lighter or plug into the wall and have a full charge again in a couple hours. Works for me perfectly. Charging wires seem a little thin and cheesy. thats the only draw back I see. - Jump Start - Jump Starters - Battery Charger'

Pocket Camera - kodak, high definition
I am a Canon diehard fan. But Canon does not have anything that compares to Kodak Playsport HD waterproof pocket video camera. At 1080P the video recording is acceptable. But, at 720p and 60 frames per second this camera rocks, the results are great. I have used it around and in water, the blue filter helps under water. I am planning to use this for our Disney World vacation this year in the Water Parks.
This camera takes 5MP HD Stills, so now I have a camera that can take video and stills on demand wet or dry. I have other camera's in the same category like Flip and Samsung both do not compare, even at 720p 60 frames per second. $150.00 pricetag is also very affordable.
Easy to carry, very user friendly to move files from the camera to the computer or directly to Youtube. Nightvision would be nice but most of my recordings will be in Daylight. Bottom line great camera and I have no cons to talk about. Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera (Black)
Over Christmas, my wife decided to award my awesomeness by getting me a Zi6. I loved this camera like a fat kid likes cake and took it with me everywhere that I went. Suddenly, my daughter was living her own personal Truman Show and everyone on my Facebook friends list was subject to video after video that I'd shot just about anywhere that we were of her being cute.
Not even a half a year had passed before I was totally devoted to the idea of the Zi6 but still wanting something with a little more horsepower under the hood (Image Stabilization, Facial Detection, Backlight Suppression). I was planning to go with the Zi8 but then I found this little bad boy. The Zx3 is essentially like the dashing, more adventurous midget version of the Zi8. It has the Zi8's guts but in a pint sized, water-proof body.
Pros:
1. Its freaking waterproof! In my opinion, this is almost 100% necessary with a camera that you carry around with you all the time. I'm often too stupid to come in out of the rain so the mere fact that this camera can take the moisture makes it a perfect fit for me.
2. Facial Detection, it works! The camera does an outstanding job of metering from whoever's grill that I happen to be getting all up in while using it. There's a noticeable lag when panning from the shadows to some sun-worshiping hippy but it's not that much. Maybe 1/3 of a second.
3. The image stabilization keeps my shots steady even when I'm jogging behind my 4 year old little girl as she goes from one place to the other being totally riot. It's digital instead of optical so it isn't perfect but it's still a far cry better than the Zi6. It¡¦s definitely a welcome upgrade as my footage no longer looks quite so much like every scene in Cloverfield.
4. I don't use the backlight suppression as much as I thought that I would (mostly don't need it) but its nice having it there.
5. I personally think that the low light performance of this camera is quite crunk! I've read lots of other reviews with people complaining about it but these folks probably complain that they don't get a side of caviar whenever they order a drive through happy meal. It's a pocket-sized camera. In my opinion, the Zx3 has the best low light resolution that you're going to find without upgrading to anything larger and more financially damaging to your checking account.
Cons
1. The thing runs on a proprietary battery so, unlike the Zi6 there's no more relying on AA's and Viagra to keep me going all day long. Kodak says that you'll get 90 minutes out of a full charge but they're lying to you like a bunch of dirty liars. Expect an hour without previewing.
2. Oddly, the 1080p recording mode doesn't make that much of a difference. The Zi6 maxed out at 720p and definitely got a worse picture than this Zx3 but that's mainly due to the internal processing differences between to two devices. It's not really a complaint, I guess. I've just found that 720p at 60fps is just as good or better than 1080p at 30fps.
3. This camera's lack of a macro mode makes it impossible for me to film my fungal infections to email to my doctor for diagnosis.
4. No case was provided! :( WTF Kodak? My Zi6 came with a case. True, it wasn't a very good case but it was there and I loved it! This one doesn't have one. I'm currently using one of my kid's unmatched socks to keep the screen and lens from getting scratched while it's in my pocket. Why does Kodak want me to be so ghetto?
5. The codec records in the .mov file format. This format is big and really annoying to edit in as it eats up processing power and makes your computer stupid. Know going into this that you're going to have to convert your files into a more manageable format before splicing together the next Citizen Kane.
All in all, I'd say that the Zx3 is pretty much the most amazing thing that I've owned ever since my wife got me my Zi6. The better image quality alone makes it worth the $150 that I paid for it but it's also waterproof! My wife didn't know that before I dropped it into my koi pond. The look on her face alone was priceless and worth every dollar spent.
I was, and still am, blown away by the quality recording I am getting off of this compact and rugged little camera. the 1080 setting can be a little blurry and choppy, but it is still better than most other compact camcorders I have used. The 720/60 frames setting is wonderful. I was astounded at the smoothness of the video, as well as the quality. Here's the trouble though, and hopefully not indicative of a larger issue.
I recorded an event for about 45 minutes, and after I was through, I looked back at the camera. The record light was still on, the screen still showing a live preview, but the recorded time number had stopped at about 37 minutes. All the controls were unresponsive. Not even the power button worked. After about 5 minutes, I had no choice but to remove the battery to shut the camera off. I turned it back on, and was shown an exclamation point where the video I had just shot was. The video would not play. I removed the 8gb SD card and plugged it directly into my computer, and the file size of the last video shot was only 67MB, not nearly high enough for 37 minutes of 720p @ 60frames per second. I am still unable to get even that fragment to play.
Color me heart-broken.
As I said, I hope this is not a sign of a larger, or more common, problem. But until I hear otherwise, I wouldn't use this camera when you really, really want to make sure you end up with a copy of the video (wedding, birthday, mat mitzvah, divorce, whatever). - Camcorder - High Definition - Kodak - Pocket Camera'

Beginners Yoga - stretching, beginner yoga
I have purchased other yoga/pilates dvd but never followed though. Why? I was simply too inflexible and uncoordinated for most of them--when I bend over I can very touch past my knees and I'm also about 40 pds overweight. But this video is doable for me--the routines are simple and give you time to work into a pose unlike others that move too quickly. I also like how the instructor uses props such as a chair to aid in stability. Essential Yoga For Inflexible People
As someone who is rather inflexible and who is beginning to explore the world of yoga, this is an incredible product.
I like to go to yoga classes, but have trouble fitting that into my schedule and following up in the weeks that pass between classes. So I had tried other yoga videos, but found them to be far too fast paced to follow along, and had pretty much given up on them.
There's a ton on this DVD, something like 3.5 or 4 hours altogether, and it's fun to try and do different parts on different days.
I wanted to give it 6 stars, but amazon only allows 5!
A great DVD for beginners. The pace is excellent for those learning the poses - the speed is relatively slow so the viewer can take the time to move into a pose and focus on attaining correct alignment. The instructions are clear. Rationale and purpose of most (maybe all?) poses are provided as well.
It's also a great DVD for advanced beginners. I am an advanced beginner, and I found that it was helpful to see close-up how my body was supposed to be positioned. Sometimes in yoga class it's hard to see an instructor's subtle movement: you may be in the back of the room, the instructor may not hold the pose because he or she needs to assist students, or you may not be wearing your glasses (like me)!
The video allows you to progress at your own speed. There are routines that focus on one type of pose (eg seated), one body part (eg stubborn hamstrings), and full routines too (eg AM practice). The DVD culminates in a 90 minute routine, which I believe is comprised of other parts of the video.
In summary, it's a great yoga DVD with, ironically, a ton of flexibility in how it can be used. The scenery is beautiful and Maggie Rhoades' voice is soothing and calming. I highly recommend it!
(Disclaimer: I am actually a student of Maggie's. If you ever have a chance to take a class from her, do it. She is an amazing teacher with a great sense of humor and extraordinary enthusiasm for yoga practice and life.)
Essential Yoga for Inflexible People is a DVD which offers a variety of beginning-level yoga practices. These practices are designed for inflexible people in particular by providing various modifications of traditional yoga poses, including use of props such as a chair and a blanket. The Main Menu of the DVD offers the following options:
Short Routines--Learn the Basics
Short Routines--Continued
Extended Routines--As You Progress
Credits
Each of the above options is broken up into practice sub-menus as described below. The times are as listed on the DVD, but I have added my own comments.
SHORT ROUTINES, BASICS
*Sun Salutations with Chair (6m)--2 rounds of sun salutations performed at a slow, modified pace using a chair
*Sun Salutations without Chair (7m)--2 rounds of slow sun salutations, still modified but without the chair
*Standing Poses with Chair (25m)--despite the title, these postures DO NOT use a chair; rather, they are modified standing postures including mountain, triangle, warrior 2, and side stretch
*Standing Poses with Chair II (14m)--this segment actually does use a chair, but only for a few postures; consists mainly of variations on intense side stretch pose
SHORT ROUTINES, CONTINUED
*Seated Poses (9m)--held seated postures including staff pose, cross-leg, cobbler's pose, and hero; a blanket is used
*Forward Bends with Chair (15m)--chair is used to support hands/arms for both standing and seated forward bends; ends with reclined leg stretch using a strap
*Beginning Back Bends (8m)--gentle variations of cobra pose
*Yoga Twists with Chair (11m)--starts with twists seated on chair, then moves to floor for additional seated twists and reclined twists
All of the practices in the final segment, Extended Routines, are made up of the the shorter segments from above; most of the practices add a 5-minute relaxation segment as well.
EXTENDED ROUTINES
*Extended Standing Postures (30m)--both standing segments from above
*Legs (40m)--seated segment, forward bends, seated twists, and relaxation
*AM Wake Up (45m)--seated segment, sun salutations w/chair, 1st standing segment, and relaxation
*Spinal Work in 3 Dimensions (40m)--sun salutations w/o chair, forward bends, back bends, and twists
*Stubborn Hamstrings (65m)--sun salutations w/chair, both standing segments, forward bends, relaxation
*Full Routine (90m)--combines all of the above
Overall, these practices are definitely appropriate for those with little pre-existing flexibility who are new to yoga. Instructor Maggie Rhoades generally provides good voiceover cues. However, she moves VERY slowly, often taking several minutes to set up a single pose. Therefore, anyone with prior yoga experience may become easily bored by these practices, even those with limited flexibility. Furthermore, although the practices are filmed against the beautiful backdrop of Half-Moon Bay in Antigua, the camera sometimes focuses too much on the scenery and not enough on Maggie, which may make this video challenging for those just starting out with yoga. For a true beginner who is very flexible and looking for short, modified yoga practices, this DVD might work very well; I would recommended, but it would not be my first choice for either someone new to yoga or someone who is inflexible. - Beginners Yoga - Beginner Yoga - Stretching - Yoga For Beginners'

Air Tools - finish nailer, nail gun
This is the one.
I had the oportunity to try several 15 guage nailers after deciding that my 16G Porter Cable could not do the job I wanted it.
Don't get me worng. My PC is the best 16G nailer in my arsenal but I needed something more.
I tried the Hitachi 15G, the Senco, and the Bostich.
I then tried the Dewalt and I was hooked. I was ready to buy the Hitachi, but the Dewalt went down to a 1" over the Hitachi 1 1/4" and the balance of the Dewalt just felt better in my hand. I also liked the feel of the trigger, plus the fact that I could access the depth adjustment more readily on the Dewalt over the Hitachi.
I have run about 16 hours of work with the tool so far and I am very happy with it. I run it with oil, since there is no better way to protect the seals and rings. I know that Dewalt advertises that you can run the tool without oil, but do not do it. You will just eat away at the life of the seals and piston rings.
No doubt a winner. Much improved over its previous D51275K. DEWALT D51276K 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer
This gun is very smooth, it sets the nail just right.
I have used several differant guns professionally and this one is very desireable. If you want to save $20 and get junk that will jam at crunch time buy somthing else. If you want reliable smooth quality get this one....
Bought this to install new hardwood flooring in a rental condo we were renovating and couldn't be happier with my choice. It is easy to use, well-made and I'm certain will last for many, many years to come. I'd never installed hardwood flooring before and after a few test "shots" into some scrap plywood I was successful in laying 120 square feet of 3/4" Maple and 25 square feet of Brazilian Redwood with nary a glitch. Getting the correct angle on the "tongue" of hardwood flooring is really the only skill you need to learn and, once you've got that, it's a breeze and you'll be installing floors that look truly professional.
I bought this nailer 4 months ago and went around and around trying to get nails that worked with it. The angle on Senco DA nails is slightly less than the nails that came with the nailer. I also tried a few after market nails--same deal. Finally I ordered Bostitch DA nails and they are exactly the same as the ones that came with it. Probably they are purchased by DeWalt for the kit. The Senco nails even say that they are for this gun on the package. They shoot 3 or 4 times and jam. Bostitch run great.
-Matt in Wisconsin
I bought this nailer used in mint condition on Amazon. Seems to work fine. I am using Porter and Cable 2 1/2" nails and it shoots them well if you don't slam the nail bolt forward. If I slam it the nails seems to wedge in the delivery ramp and don't feed. A minor thing but it took me a minute to figure out why it was only shooting one nail and then stopped. Since then I've used it with no issues.
I recently purchased this Finish Nailer for use in some home improvement projects. I was very surprised how light this nailer was and how little recoil is generated in its use. I have used it with 2.5, 2.0, and 1.5 inch nails with no problems and no jams. I have not used it a great deal yet but have had no problems so far. If there is a single negative about this item is that it is made in the People's Republic of China. I had read on another website that Dewalt tools were made in the United States. That information was incorrect. I really wish it had been made in the free world, preferably the United States, and not in the Communist Worker's Paradise. (Rant Mode Off.) Finally, I choose this Finish Nailer based upon the feedback provided by previous purchasers at Amazon.
this nailer worked perfect.........I have many others and have found that you get what you pay for.........this great deal came at a perfect time for one of our projects.........no problems, easy to handle..........many features that I was not use to that came in handy,............I would give it 2 thumbs up
I spent hours on amazon researching finish nailers and in the end went for this one. I read reviews on every product I buy as I buy 99% of my tools online, what annoys me is that not a single reviewer of this gun stated that the trigger and the magazine are made from cheap plastic! I have 2 bostich guns for framing and roofing that are both solid and extremely bounce proof as I have dropped both from great heights on several occasions, granted this is a finish nailer and will most likely never be higher than a door frame, but even then I would be surprised if it held together from that low a height drop! I can understand the need to keep weight down but unless you are an 80 pound weakling you could easily swing this gun all day even if it weighed 10lbs. So for once inspire confidence in your tools and build them solidly...I have stuck it back in its box and will drive the 50 miles to a big box so I can check to see if all guns in this price bracket are built the same if so then maybe I'll keep it long enough to test my drop theory... - Finish Nailers - Nail Gun - Air Tools - Finish Nailer'

Home Improvement Tools - hand saws, handsaws
Let me start by saying that I love this saw, not like, love. The best saw I've ever owned in over 15 years of framing. I've used this saw over the past year on post and beam joinery, finishing custom homes, renovations, commercial and industrial jobs and it just keeps on amazing me. It cuts cleaner than any push saw I've ever owned and it does so while getting into places I just couldn't get to with a conventional saw. Be careful with this baby however, because this is one razor sharp saw that will remove meat from your fingers if you don't treat her with the respect that she's due. One of my all time favorite tools, period. So you must be asking yourself, if he loves this saw so much why did he only give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars?. Simple, the saw is great but the cheesy plastic handle is bad, really bad. It broke after only 1 week and I've had to bandage it back together with tape several times to keep it working. The problem is with the cheap, hollow plastic handle that is so lightweight that it tends to split in half the first time that the blade binds on you. I've seen the latest incarnation of this saw and they have beefed up the handle and reinforced it with a steel core so that should solve the problem. Make sure you get the new handle or it's going to be a sad case of Caveat Emptor for you just as it was for me.Eric Wainwright Orillia, Ontario Shark Corp 10-2440 Fine Cut Saw
I have had this saw for several years and have used for both fine cabinetwork and for cutting 2x4s. It is amazing how fast and how fine it cuts. I prefer it rather than my regular handsaws for almost all work. The only problem I have had is that the handle is getting loose so I would not recommend getting the extra blade. I do need a new blade because it does not seem to cut nails very well.
I write a tool review column for an online magazine and also a bimonthly printed magazine. I am going to write a featured report on these saws. I can actually cut a kerf faster with this hand saw than I can with a jigsaw with a famous Swiss made blade.Saws of this caliber should cost much more. I can also assure everyone that the handle problem is no longer a problem. I have one warning though. This saw is an extremely sharp professional tool and not for any type of play or monkey business. Make sure that this saw is put away around children.I can say without any reservations that this saw should be in every woodworkers tool box. If you don't have one buy it now because it is the best deal on this site.
Shark 10-2440 Fine Cut Saw - I don't know that I really need this (that didn't enter into the decision of whether or not to buy it); but after reading the Japanese woodworking books and seeing them work, I just had to have a long straight handled saw. 'Nuf said.
These saws are: 1. sharp; 2. affordable; 3. easy to use (after a short learning curve).
These saws: 1. cut a thin kerf; 5. are very sharp; 6. allow you to do precision cutting.
And: they are very, very sharp (keep bandages with them - even though you've been warned - you'll have to find out for yourself).
I have moved ALL of my other hand saws to the back of the shop. These are a joy to use. I want to have each type (and have probably bought more than I have a need for). You will have to make a new miter box because these blades are too thin for any you have.
Some tips: 1. Don't pitch them in your toolbox or truck bed. These are precision tools and though they are quite strong, they are easily damaged. Use the blade guards that come with them. 2. Don't try to "muscle" them through a board. The old adage of "let the tool do the work" has never been truer. 3. Don't place the blade edge anywhere you don't want a mark left. I think I mentioned that they're very, very, very sharp.
(Since I don't know which review you might see first, I have left the same general review for each of these I own and added any specific thoughts for the individual saws.)
The replacement blades are ridiculously expensive, especially relative to the price of the saw, but this is a fine tool. great for all types of cutting in wood or plastic. I have found it most useful for shim and trim purposes.Everyone should have one of these in their toolbag.

One of my all time favorite tools, period. So you must be asking yourself, if he loves this saw so much why did he only give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars?. Simple, the saw is great but the cheesy plastic handle is ..., pure .... It broke after only 1 week and I've had to bandage it back together with tape several times to keep it working. The greatest advantage this saw brings is its versatility. It is small and cordless and very sharp, so that when you have to cut something in an inconvenient place, you can do so without a lot of the collateral damage that would come with the circular or reciprocating power saws. It's small enough to fit in a backpack or briefcase or toolbox, which makes it much more convenient for taking to a little job where you don't want to take a full array of tools, such as the trim in your sister-in-laws apartment or a little patching job high up on a roof. It's particularly good for interior molding because of its small kerf and because it doesn't spray dust all over the place. The fast-cutting afforded by the sharpness and precision afforded by the increased control brings us in the building biz one step closer to our cousins in cutting: the surgeons. In fact, a surgeon friend of mine told me that if he were stranded on a desert island without power and had to cut a femur or something, this is what he'd use if access to his own familiar tool bag were barred. "My choice would be the Shark, and not the cordless Sawzall, even if I did have plenty of backup batteries. The blade is not stainless steel, so tetanus would be a concern, but the cutting power is nearly up to the level of the best surgical saws." - Handsaws - Hand Saws - Pull Saw - Hand Saw'

I have been searching for the laptop of my dreams for several months, and after settling for the ASUS N53SV-XV1 I can tell you with 100% confidence that I made the right choice. This is the absolute best laptop you can buy for the money. There is simply nothing else out on the market right now for this value. The core components (processor, hard drive, screen, sound, graphics card) are unbeatable. It gives you the portability of a 15" laptop and the performance of a desktop replacement.
Pros:
- Great performance from Intel 2nd generation Sandy Bridge processor (quiet, efficient, and powerful)
- Sound is AMAZING. Loudest speakers available on a laptop (great for watching TV/movies) and built-in bass
- 1080p, 1920 x 1080 resolution screen is gorgeous and great for multitasking
- Good, but not great NVIDIA graphics
- 4 memory slots allow you to get 16 GB maximum if you upgrade
- 7200 rpm hard drive means you get the most performance possible without paying hundreds for still too expensive SSDs
- Full keyboard with number pad
- USB 3.0 (will be standard on most new laptops soon, though)
- ASUS global and accidental warranties come standard
Cons:
- Not as much RAM as you would hope for, though getting more is fairly cheap and easy to install
- Average battery life for a 15" laptop
- Keyboard is a bit funky, and takes some getting used to. Also not backlit.
*NOTE*
- The chipset is an Intel HM65, not HM55 as listed on Amazon.
- This laptop is slightly wider than most 15" laptops (about an inch), though roughly equal in other dimensions. It might have trouble fitting into bags or cases designed for the standard 15.6" size.
- When first posted, Amazon listed this laptop as having an eSATA port. It does NOT in fact have one, and it has been removed from the product description.
My priorities when buying a new laptop were performance, high resolution screen, and portability. This laptop accomplishes what I need better than anything out there right now. I say right now because things may change once all of the major manufacturers get the new processors in their models and start cranking out similar setups. But who knows when that will happen, and even then it will be difficult for them to match the value of this computer.
If you are considering buying this computer, I would only recommend that you buy more RAM, since it comes with only 2 x 2 GB and there are 2 more slots that can be filled ( I bought and installed an additional 2 x 4 GB to bring the total to 12 GB). The battery life is not that great, but may be due to the fact that the battery is a standard 6-cell. If you need to be unplugged for more than 3 or 3 and a half hours I recommend investing in a larger capacity battery, as this laptop was not necessarily designed to be the ultimate in portability. There have also been some complaints about the keyboard, but it really isn't that bad and just takes some getting used to. If you don't like it, get a new one and it will take just a few minutes to replace.

Brief Review:
This laptop is perfect for desktop replacement home use; for the money $1,050, this is the best laptop available IMHO. It is very well rounded, with one of the fastest mobile processors available and a mid range GPU.
Pros:
Value
Top notch processor
Full HD Display 1080p
Low heat & low power consumption
Cons:
-Keyboard (I prefer chicklet)
-Wireless Adapter
-Wider than most 15.6" laptops
Further Detail:
Power consumption and heat are also strong points. This laptop has the latest Sandy Bridge CPU which sips power due to 32nm production process as well as integrated graphics (NVIDIA Optimus to switch to the dedicated GPU as needed).
The Full HD 1080p display is beautiful. Great for photo editing and multitasking with ample desktop "real estate."
The keyboard in my unit is not as squishy as other reviewers. What I find annoying is the lack of separation in the keys. I plan on swapping this out for a compatible "chicklet" style keyboard as soon as possible.
This is my first 15.6" notebook so it feels wide to me. Just to make sure it was not because I was new to this size laptop I verified that it is longer than other brands 15.6" laptops. Asus N53SV: 39.1 cm | Dell XPS 15: 38.1 cm | HP dv6t: 37.8 cm | Lenovo T510: 37.3 cm | Sony VAIO C: 37.5 cm.
I had planned (and since completed) several upgrades to the laptop including 16GB ram, and 160GB SSD. With these upgrades (and hopefully a "chicklet" keyboard in the near future) I rate this laptop five stars. For the money it is hard to beat what ASUS is offering with the N53SV.

I've used Asus products for years but this is the first laptop of theirs that I've owned, and I'm very impressed. Feels solid and runs great. Try pricing out a comparable computer and you'll spend at least 1500. One thing I will point out is even though the website description says this has an eSATA port, it doesn't. This thing is fast, especially once you remove some of Asus' pre-installed software. My old Core2Duo ran so much hotter than this quad-core. Running flash and hd video is like nothing to this computer. Haven't tried any games yet but I've heard reports that it can do pretty well with most games on medium settings.
Trust me, you'll have a hard time finding something comparable for the price! - Full Hd - Asus Laptop - I7 - Laptop'
