Xm Radio Car Kit - xm radio, portable
(UPDATED) This kit comes with 2 methods to connect to your car stereo: 1) using an AUX jack or 2) using the PowerConnect feature (FM transmitter) built in to the XMp3i player itself.
After receiving the XMp3i for my birthday, I ordered the car kit so I could enjoy satellite radio in my vehicle (2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer). The cable for the antenna is nice and long, so you can run it from your dash, all the way to the top/rear of the car, with a little leftover. All of the cables plug into the dock, so you can remove your XMp3i and hide it or take it with you without any hassle. It comes with a remote control, which I thought was silly at first, but after using it, I realized that it's much easier to use the remote when driving, than to use the buttons on the player. As long as you position the antenna like the instructions describe, the reception is just as good as a factory installed XM radio (I've had both).
It comes with two mounting methods (dashboard mount or clips for your air conditioning vent). If you use the adhesive dashboard mount, make sure you know exactly where you want it, since it only comes supplied with a single adhesive strip. Otherwise, you'll have to go buy some of those super-adhesive foam strips made by 3M. Certainly not a deal-killer, but a little annoying.
Overall, the car kit from XM was easy to install. Now I can listen to satellite radio on those long road trips! Hooray! AudioVox XM XAPV2 PowerConnect Vehicle Kit for the XMp3i
I am not the most mechanically-inclined indivdual on the planet, so the idea of installing an external antenna on the roof of my car and running a wire through the trunk to the dash was a little intimidating. However, the installation kit has everything you need to get the job done and its instructions were easy to follow. It only took me 15 minutes to get everything properly connected. I was very pleased with the end result. The sound quality from the PowerConnect FM transmitter was better than expected. It's so nice to have Live XM programming in my vehicle with absolutely no interruptions. In fact, I still had a reliable signal even when going under a large freeway overpass.
There is one gripe I have with this device, however. It requires that you run power to the dock at all times, even if your XMp3i is already fully charged. I tried running it without the power adapter connected and the XMp3i would not work very consistently. You'll probably want to invest in a 12-volt socket splitter if you run multiple devices (cell phone charger, GPS, etc.) on a frequent basis. Without a constant power source to the dock, you'll find it challenging to keep the XM receiver working. This is a minor complaint, but I don't understand why a fully-charged unit is not allowed to run off its own battery power.
The easy installation and included remote control make this kit well worth the price. Having the ability to take an XMp3i on the road now adds even more value to my Sirius/XM subscription.
Installed this to replace an XpressRC kit. The mounting holes matched up, as did the antenna plug, so swapping out was simple stuff... Everything included you could want, stick on mount, screw on, and a/c vent mount. Even has a remote so the kids in the back seat can control the radio and drive you crazy. The units best feature is the power connect. It transmits the FM signal through the vehicle power system, which ultimately ends up transmitting INSIDE you in dash FM receiver, and provides great signal strength. Much better than the previous clip on the antenna kit. Works well, and is simple to install with a great quick install guide.
Lighter power adapter is NOT universal. The cigarette lighter adapter that comes in this PowerConnect kit for the XMp3 doesn't work in my year 2000 BMW 3-series. It is too short and the shape is too thick. Other adapters I've had are tapered and longer. When I emailed XM 'Tech Support' - their only suggestion was to buy more equipment and see if anything else worked. XM user support has gotten awful.
I mounted my XM radio during the winter and it stayed put fine until this spring's first 85 degree day and it fell off. I bought and mounted a new kit and it lasted only two 80 degree days. I've since bought a mounting kit from Pro Clip and it seems secure. Time will tell.
When I purchased a replacement SiriusXM receiver, I went for the portable one to provide versatility. I was still going to use it in the car so this kit is just what I needed.
It is as described, and comes with an extra remote so I can leave the one in the house there. The only part I didn't like was how they modified the mounting kit, which now has an extended piece that positions it away from the dash another 1.5". In theory it may seem better, but it makes it sit too far out from the dash and more noticeable as an extra, removable item, than almost flush with the existing radio like the former design.
Other than that, it's excellent!
Purchased a new car and it didn't have the option for XM on it. I looked through the offerings at the local BestBuy and decided I would try the portable XMp3i instead of the vehicle mounted options. I thought it would get more usage being able to move it around. I should have realized hat I was going to be using this nearly every time I was in the car and picked a vehicle mount one. This kits was a requirement for me as I needed it to get signal inside my car. This kit works amazingly well and was easy to instal and use. I have to recommend this to every one who wants to use the XMp3i in a car. The included home kit also works well at home and was another easy setup but this isn't a review for that product so I will just stick with the car kit here.
I have been using it for about a year. It works and does what you need it to do. What more can I say? I would recommend getting one for each vehicle that you use your XM in. It's kind of a pain to have to move this from car to car. Plus, I'm lazy! So there you go! Another thing, if you don't have an "AUX" input on your car stereo, you might want to consider digging out one of those old cassette adapters that you've thrown into the junk box in your basement. It is much easier than using the FM modulator IMO. - Satellite Radio - Xm Radio Car Kit - Portable - Xm Radio'

Financial Software
Though there are very few books about Oracle Applications Version 11i, this is not a good reason to buy this book. One gets the feeling that it has been assembled from a set of consultant's hand outs. It is badly written and the publisher seems to have dispensed with the services of editor and proof reader. For example, diagrams 1.3 and 1.4, meant to demonstrate the difference between single organization and multi-organization structures are in fact completely identical. This doesn't give one a great deal of confidence in the accuracy of the rest of the information in the book. The section on conversion contains the sentence "Converting legacy data can be time-consuming, expensive and complex" and then in the following paragraph "If the volume is too large, convert the legacy data via a custom software conversion program. The process can be complex and time consuming". I think we got the point the first time.It would be great if there was a good book about Oracle Applications, but this isn't it. I feel embarrassed to have spent my employer's money on it, if I had paid for it myself I would be very angry indeed. Oracle E-Business Suite 11i: Implementing Core Financial Applications
This book is some kind of joke. And I'm the last one to laugh, 'cause I had to spend over 60$ on this one. It is full of screenshots and hardly any verbage. If there is any, it simply gives you the basic navigation instructions for 11i screens. Well, it did one good thing though, it inspired me to write a book on the subject that I have no knowledge on. Here's what I'm going to do. Get all the user manuals, tear them apart and throw the pages in the air. Which ever land on a table, simply collect them, bind them together, and viola...you have a book with a title that reads something like "Implementing some hi-tech applications...blah blah blah..." !
This book is a good starter book; much better than Oracle Materials. It gives good Introduction to Oracle Modules GL,AR and AP with the help of screen shots. (in fact, lots of screen shots help the understanding).Though the contents are not for an advanced user (who would use Oracle User guide then) but still for a person who has not seen Oracle Financial Applications at all, it would be a good first step.I did not rate 5 star because 1. it did not cover 2 financial modules : Fixed Assets and Cash Management2. A chapter on what is happening behind the screen in applications (like general concept of Oracle Tables, TRMs etc. would have helped.3. Should have included as an appendix: Additional Sources of Information like Metalink, OTN web etc.'

Photography Equipment - camera remote, canon
I just got this remote control a few days back, and so far I am pretty satisfied with it. The shipment was prompt and it arrived even faster than some of the Amazon's own products. I am using it with Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. I chose it over some alternative products due to its compact size, and that comes in handy when lugging around a whole bunch of camera add-ons. I only have a couple of problems with it:
1. The user-instruction sheet is very poorly written and not very clear on a couple of crucial steps of the set up. It would have been more useful to have something that explains the set up in some detail with each one of the Canon products for which it's meant to be used.
2. The range of the remote is rather limited. I have not measured it exactly, but it seems that it doesn't work beyond 15 feet away.
7-28-2008 Update.
Since it seems that a lot of people are having problems with the instructions that came with this item, I decided to post a simple set-up procedure that worked for me:
1. Turn on the camera.
2. Press the "Drive mode" menu button. This is the same button as the left arrow on my camera.
3. Toggle between different setting using left and right arrow.
4. Make sure that the "Self-timer/Remote control" option is highlighted.
5. Press set button.
6. You are ready to roll. Point the remote to the camera (from the front of the camera) and press either the upper "S" (for immediate shooting) or "2S" (for 2s delayed shooting) buttons.
11-19-2009 Update.
From what I understand, the other buttons are meant to be used with Canon's point-and-shoot cameras. "S" is for shooting, and "W" and "T" are for zooming out/in. They will not work Canon's DSLR cameras. Opteka RC-4 Wireless Remote Control for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, XTi, XSi, T1i, T2i, T3i, 60D, 7D & 5D Mark II Digital SLR Cameras
The remote is handy, small and it does what it is supposed to do. It looks quite good I might say and I am very happy I took this instead of canon original. For this kind of simple products (not high-tech) it is not worth paying for the brand.
After setting the camera in the "remote mode" then press S/2S and you'll get the picture.
On the other hand, the limited acting distance is what I expected. It is the same as with the TV set remote. You can not use infrared from very long distance
Fabulous, pocket size, help you to work off camera not touching it at all and no having troubles with cables. Now I'm sometimes in the photos I take.
Perfect working condition, cheap (not the hard prices of the Canon originals)and battery is available practically everywhere.
I would recommend it for everyone having a Canon EOS.
I just got the remote and I'm very pleased so far. It works with my Rebel T1i and you can use it for the BULB mode (click once to open shutter, click again to turn shutter off).
The 2S mode will take 2 second and then open the shutter.
Very happy so far and I hope the battery lasts.
Directions were not very clear and were not written in perfect english. This isn't just for Cannon cameras, it's a generic product that works on several cameras. The best I can tell, only one of the buttons on the remote actually work with the Cannon Rebel, which is what I bought it for. The other buttons are useless and do not work with my camera. I can take a picture remotely, so I guess it does work. Just disappointed in that it was advertised for the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, XTi (my camera), and the XSi, but is really for multiple cameras and the only button that works is the shutter button.
Works great with the Canon XSi. I had a bit of an issue finding the setting on the camera, but one email to Opteka (with a quick response within a couple hours) and I had it working great. See below for setting up the Canon Rebel:
Please perform the following actions to get the remote to work on your Canon Digital Rebel:
1. Turn on the camera.
2. Press the "Drive mode" menu button.
3. Toggle between different setting using left and right arrow.
4. Make sure that the "Self-timer/Remote control" option is highlighted.
5. Press set button.
S (shutter release), and 2S (2 Second delayed shutter), are the only operative buttons for an SLR.
The S (shoot), W+T (zoom control), are for select powershot point-and-shoot cameras.
I love this camera remote. It actual has more functions than the one Canon sells for my Canon Digital Rebel XSi (450D). The range is awesome. I love the delay button... works great when doing self portraits. I use this remote all of the time when I'm shooting from my tripod. I highly recommend this remote to any camera user. So easy to use and it works flawlessly. Very impressed!
It works and easy to set up. Here's how for a T1i:
1. Turn camera on
2. Press the left directional button (Drive Mode) until it says "Self-timer/Remote control
3. Press the middle button (Set) - the orange square will turn blue and the main screen will confirm that the mode on the bottom right corner
"S" is to take the shot. "2S" to take the shot with a 2-second delay. Make sure the camera is facing you so it receives the signal.
I was surprised that this remote worked so well and was so easy to use. It works wonderfully though - there was no set up required, I just had to turn my camera on and to the timer setting, push the "S" button on the remote and it worked right away. It seems to work from a reasonable distance (15-20ft). Definately worth the money!
The only negative is that you can't use it to focus the lens (product isn't supposed to do it). So if you'll be shooting pictures of yourself or other situations where you can't focus the lens on the object first, you might look at a different shutter release control that will do a half release. - Camera Remote - Canon - Camera Accessories - Remote Control'

Decorate - home decorating
This is the best decorating book I have read. Although I confess to being an HTV addict, the emphasis on trendy design on that network sometimes gets old; this book is refreshing because it is filled with practical advice about how to make your home suit your own tastes. I found the photos less inspiring than photos in most home decor books because most of the rooms shown are too formal or too country for me. However, the excellent text more than makes up for that. I borrowed this book from the library but now I am going to buy a copy. Decorating Without Fear: A Step-by-Step Guide To Creating The Home You Love
I am in the process of having a new home built for me - I haven't a clue what I am doing but this book helped. The book is written with a ease that the do-it yourself decorator will understand the basics and the pictures help you to see this in your own way for your own style. I have found that my decorating style is Cottage design and I now know what I have been doing will always be with me and now I can begin to pick up pieces for my new home and it will work - for me.
This book was a huge letdown for me. I realize that design is pretty much whatever you want to do, but I wanted tips on why designers choose to do certain things more often and why they choose those things. For example, I tend to put my sofa and love seat at a right angle to each other with a rectangular rug in front of them and a coffee table on the rug. I'm told this isn't good design and the sofa should sit partially (or completely) on the rug, etc... I want to know why and how to do a better job of this type of design.
I also found the photography to be terrible, with shots of rooms with open sunlit windows washing out the entire photo in many cases!
There was also lots of bad design in the book. A bathroom full of diagonals that made me DIZZY looking at the picture and florals that would have made an 80 year old woman proud. This was just not what I was looking for at all. - Home Decorating'

Laptop To Tv - laptop or pc to tv, pc vga to tv converter
I bought this so I could play streaming Netflix movies through my laptop on my LCD TV. Device worked perfectly right out of the box. Here are the connection steps: 1. Connect laptop "VGA out" to device "VGA in" using included cable. 2. Connect device's power cable to USB port of laptop. 3. Connect device to LCD TV using included S-Video cable. 4. Turn on TV and laptop. 5. Use TV remote to select appropriate S-Video input port. 6. Set laptop to send video out through VGA. I had it working in about 10 minutes, playing a streaming Netflix movie through my laptop onto the TV. Picture quality was better than I expected, almost as good as the picture from the cable box. Device comes with a composite video cable also, so you have a choice of either S-Video or composite video (yellow RCA plug) connection to your TV. Overall, I'm very happy with ease of setup and picture quality. (My setup: Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop with Vista, and Westinghouse 26" LCD TV, connected via this converter.) Sabrent PC to TV Converter Box
INTRODUCTION:
Heads-up: Most people aren't fully knowledgeable of this particular avenue of technology, meaning that contrary to what you might hope or have been told, you can't down-vert VGA to a TV resolution without quality loss. Most of the reviews which scathe this product and others, saying the quality sucks, might be true but they're not recognizing the fact it's a limitation of the technology--not the device. Don't review a device poorly for something it cannot do.
First thing to know is, when converting any video signal into a different format, it most likely will not be perfect. When downgrading from VGA to Composite (RGB), it's even worse. You need to know this up front and expect it. Unless you buy specific hardware (for much more), or have specific software which helps down-vert the graphics, it's going to lose sharpness and sometimes clarity, and at worse the image might appear "shifty". Even the special hardware and software won't make it perfect, it merley softens edges for the most part. TV quality composite wasn't designed for the resolution capability of VGA, or even today's higher-end video output formats.
Your needs and application may vary. For simple things like watching videos or playing games (which use mostly graphics and large fonts, not small text), and certain presentation applications, this will be perfect. This will not be good if you need to browse the web and still think you'll be able to easily read small text with clarity.
PROS:
* Price for the features you get - awesome. It works as described, includes everything you need to get going. You shouldn't spend more than this
* Includes everything you need
* Intuitive/easy to use out of the box, < 2 minute setup time
* Great quality video as expected (read 'introduction' and 'my application' and 'video quality' for more details)
* Excellent for DVD playback/video/games/presentation/GUI interfaces
CONS:
* The sharp/crisp/high-quality stuff you see on a normal computer screen will not be here--because it's not possible to down-vert VGA to Composite without losing the quality. This is not a flaw of the device, it's merely the technology.
* Not good for browsing sites which use lots of text, reading documents, things of that nature--again, this is not the device, it's a limitation of the technology itself
MY APPLICATION:
I needed this to convert a low-resolution VGA output (640x480 or 800x600) into a Composite feed which could be seen on a 6.5" or 7" LCD with average quality. What this means is, small fonts like 10pt, 12pt, etc, were not expected (or needed), as it was a GUI-driven touch-screen interface using mostly graphics and large fonts. For this purpose, the output was perfect for my needs.
I had everything
VIDEO/PICTURE QUALITY:
4 out of 5. (please read the introduction to see more about video quality)
The quality is exactly what I expected, so the rating is high. If you expect this to look as sharp as a projector, you're looking at the wrong item--get a projector. On a medium-sized screen (relative to what I'm used to), 37-45", most normal text (10-14pt font, unbolded) looks grainy. 12+ size font bolded looks decent. Graphics, ones which aren't intricate and which lack detail, look great. Anything with lots of detail is going to look off. Imagine trying to play one of today's high-end games, but through the graphics ability of a 20 year old gaming system. It simply won't look right.
But if you're going for simple or large graphics, pictures, video, flash games, solitaire, web-browsing using large fonts and low-resolution, presentations, gui-interfaces, car-computers, and other stuff along those lines, you get the drift. This is perfect for playing a DVD on a computer and porting it to your TV. It's not great for trying to read a Word document with small font at a high resolution.
Something to note is the high resolution input it can take, very awesome. Something to be aware of, however, is that these high resolutions don't look great on all TV screens. You'll have to try some out to see what works best for your application. I accidentally put 1600x1200 through it and it rendered even though it said it wouldn't.
PRODUCT QUALITY:
5 out ot 5. It's compact, the device is sturdy, all the ports are firm, nothing is loose when you plug it in.
INSTRUCTIONS:
3 out of 5. The instructions were adequate but lack a lot of detail. Not that you need a lot of detail, but for some it may be helpful. I merely plugged it up and started toying with it. I didn't read the instructions until I wanted to see an explanation of all the menu items. The menu layout is very low-tech but functional, reminds me of first generation VCR's.
INCLUDED CABLES:
5 out of 5. They give you everything you need to get started, including a short composite cable.
NOTES:
* As with lots of electrical devices, I suggest having all your connections made prior to applying power. So if your computer/tv are already on, connect the VGA and composite cables up first, then plug your USB cable in to provide power. Or, better yet, have everything turned off first, plug everything up, then turn on your equipment.
* Other units which look alike and advertise they do the same, may be able to do the same, but many of the ones I reviewed on Amazon and elsewhere all had the same series of bad reviews--mostly hardware failures and defects. This model appears to have good reviews across all the websites. Pay the extra $15 for it.
* An $80 unit won't do more quality-wise than this unit will; at best it will have a better menu system, and maybe more overall features, but the quality will be the same. Unless you break the $100+ mark and get a unit which advertises boosted video signal and special firmware/software to help make fonts/edges/contrast look better, it's not worth the extra money.
* What you expect in quality of picture versus what you get, will differ compared to someone else's expectations.
* You may see a split-second flicker of the RGB bars when everything powers up the first time, but immediately following should be your VGA. This is normal, RGB bars indicate there's a composite signal but there's no video or picture to render. If the RGB bars stay "on" with your computer connected, make sure you are using the right input resolution (I suggest dropping to 640x480 and then move up from there). If the RGB bars are always "on" and your computer isn't connected, this might indicate a problem with the unit or it might be "normal" depending on how your TV renders composite signals (some will display RGB bars to let you know it has a composite connection but no input).
* Menu layout is "simple" and low-tech, but it does provide you with the features you need to make sure the image fits on screen just right.
* I didn't check to see if it loses its settings (which you can change through the menu) after power-off because it doesn't affect my use of the product.
* Some systems, usually laptops, may not immediately render the video to the screen. Try making sure your composite cable is hooked up to the TV, your VGA cable is hooked up to the laptop, and then turning the laptop on. Also try it the other way around, have the laptop on and then connect everything. Also try powering the device after the connections are made, or before, whichever works. This is due to how some electrical signals "latch" in varying computers (usually laptops with the selectable VGA/LCD options). Never had the issue with a desktop or dedicated VGA-out.
* Something to note is the high resolution input it can take, very awesome. Something to be aware of, however, is that these high resolutions don't look great on all TV screens. You'll have to try some out to see what works best for your application. I accidentally put 1600x1200 through it and it rendered even though it said it wouldn't. - Pc To Tv - Pc Vga To Tv Converter - Laptop To Tv - Laptop Or Pc To Tv'

Stationary Jointers - planer, wood
I managed to assemble this sturdy table-top unit (despite the substandard documentation.) Next, I ran a warped (it was cupped) piece of 14 in. x 5 and 1/2 in. x 7/16 in. aspen through the jointer operation 4 or 5 times at the 1/32 in setting.
The planer has a scale and pointer that indicates the distance between the planer table and the cutter head. I ran it through 4 or 5 times and now have a nice and flat 14 in. x 5 and 1/2 in. x ¼ in. piece.
For the jointer, send the work through using one of the two push blocks (included with the machine) in your left hand and a push stick in your right hand. Jet does not say this but my basic woodworking book said this is the best way (unless the piece is very thin to begin with.) I would not use just my hands except on a VERY thick work piece.
The fence seems strong and accurate and can be angled up to 45 degrees.
Jet tells you to move the wood through in the direction of the grain. It also states that the use of a 2 ½ in vacuum or 4 in. dust collector will greatly improve the results. Adaptors are included and the 2 and ½ in. exactly fit my 6.5 hp Shop Vac which picked up about 90 percent of the waste/shavings from the two operations.
My initial ratings are:
-Documentation---** (barely adequate)
-Packaging------**** (thick Styrofoam)
-Quality---------***** (so far)
-Value----------***** 2 in 1 table top ($329 free ship)
-Durability-------***** unknown so far
-Ease of Use-----*****
-Warranty-------**** (3 years but defective parts must be sent back pre-paid ship for replacement)
-Customer Support unknown for now, however:
I will soon find out the quality of support as one of the two thick 1/8 in. plastic casings was cracked, probably by UPS tossing it around on the way from Knoxville TN to Northern Pennsylvania. Fortunately the machine did not seem to suffer any other damage.
There were no Pan Head Machine Screws as the documentation stated but all screws and nuts need to be tightened with one of the 4 included allen wrenches and/or the included two-sided metric wrench. See the January 31 2009 review of the 10 inch model for more about assembly.
The cutter-head knives settings did not need to be adjusted (you use the included knife setting gauge to determine if it is set to the proper height)
I am off to the local sawmill for some rough lumber and. after a quick comparison between an on-line store's pre-planed and pre-jointed board-foot of ash ($11) and a rough one ($2) means this Jet should pay for itself in a short period of time even though I am just a DIYer. If it can handle rough lumber than I will be more than satisfied with this purchase. I will try and update this review after a few weeks. Jet JJP-8BT 8-Inch Bench Top Jointer/Planer
If you are a hobbyist with a limited budget as well as limited floor space, this machine should do the trick for you. If you are one of the minority with unlimited funds and space, you probably will want to look for a machine with more horsepower. The following is a breakdown of my experience with this little number.
First of all, I went with the 8 inch instead of the 10 inch because both seem to have the same motor. 2 inches might not seem like much, but the difference can be quite substantial when you are putting resistance to a motor. Jointers and planers have a relationship to each other. So, to me, it didn't really matter that I was losing a few inches in planing width since I would not be able to flatten a wider board on the jointer anyway.
The box arrived in good condition. There was no damage to the machine. I did have a torn bag of locknuts and washers. Some of these parts were probably littering the factory as I was missing a couple. Fortunately, I keep a supply of such items handy so was not a show stopper. I did spend a little bit of time looking for panhead screws that do not exist. There must have been a change since the instruction printing because hex bolts, not panheads, hold the blade guard to the machine.
I did have a notched blade and I can tell you that jet will be about the only company that carries them. They advertise the part in metric not fractional sizes. Because I was impatient, I ordered a set of Freud 1/8th blade thickness blades. The ones Jet carries are about 1/16th thick and seem rather flimsy to me. Some of this is probably due to the horse of the planer and there is less strain on a machine if the blades are thin. As it is, I probably will not take more than a 1/32 cut at a time due to the thickness of the blade. This of course leads to changing the blades and setting them.
Do yourself a favor if you order. Right when you get the box, open it, get your serial number and model number info and call Jet right off the bat. Ask them to email you a diagram for setting the outfeed table. These are not included in the instructions (though they should be). The outfeed table is adjustable and you can set it coplanar to the infeed table. It takes 5 minutes and will save you a nightmare in blade adjustments. Some of the bad reviews are pretty much related to poor performance based on the table not being coplanar. If you see poor cuts, this can be remedied. The box comes with a "jig" for setting the blades. The jig is just a rectangular, hollow, metal box that you use to set over the blade and the outfeed table to align the knives even with the table. Springs are located under the knives and they put pressure on them to elevate them. The box pushes the knives back down to a level spot so you can tighten them down. It is very important that both knives are completely level and at the same height to the table and with each other. If both tables are coplanar, this is not extremely difficult. You just have to keep moving the box from one side to the other and tighten the outer nuts slowly so that the blade doesn't tip and become uneven. If both tables are not coplanar, you may have a two day nightmare (speaking first hand) before the lightbulb comes on. On a good note, the difficulties taught me much about the machine and I feel quite comfortable with all the operations.
To summarize - The machine is decent, it will do what it is supposed to do. The manual is not so decent, but it is workable. Jet customer support is very good. You will get a human being who knows the machine and they can answer your questions and give you the help you need. If you want to stick with Jet blades, contact the customer service department to order. Trying to find them online is a red herring experience.
Hope this helps those that are considering or possibly those that already have the machine and are experiencing some issues. - Jet - Planer - Jointers - Wood'

The Proxxon KT70 is a great XY table. I have purchased two of them so far, for use as part of the Nano Gigapan project to allow us to take high resolution mosaiced images under microscopes.
You can take the knobs off and couple them to stepper motors fairly easily, and thus have an automated xy stage for a fraction of the price of equipment designed for microscopy.
The KT70 moves 1 mm per turn of the handles, and a 115x microscope has about a .75 mm field of view, so there is plenty of precision and accuracy in the KT70 for this purpose. In fact, the KT70 has 20 hash marks per revolution, so each hash mark is 50 microns. From my measurements the table has the accuracy to repeatably hit these marks.
That does point out one issue for Americans - everything is metric. 50 micros = 0.0019 inches - about 2 thousandths.
If you google 'Nano Gigapan' you'll find our project, along with examples of using the KT70 in scientific applications. Proxxon 27100 Micro Compound Table KT 70
My expienense with proxxon micro compound table kt 70 is that it is supprisingly well engineered for such a small light table it is made of alunimun but seems to have an anodize on it. Anyway I was supprised when I machined a piece of brass on it and got a pretty good finish no wavy lines, for the hobbiest such as myself its worth the money.
This is an extremely useful table for precision machining and I use it a lot. It isnt necessarily perfectly adjusted from the factory so it's worth taking a little time to adjust it for best fit/motion. Some have a bit of slop in the top table, do some minor adjustments and you'll be rewarded with slop free movement and smooth sliding. I don't use the included clamps often, they are good, but I hold odd shapes in mine so I have my own clamp system in place. Standard 1/4-20 bolts fit the slots so just about any standard 3rd party attachments will fit ( within reason given the table size) which extends it's usefulness immensely. I've fitted my stand with an LED lamp for better visibility as well when milling or drilling.
The table is strong and the mechanism seems sturdy and well protected from general debris. The handscrew adjustment precision is excellent and it doesn't vibrate loose and out of position as some milling tables can do.
Overall a 5 star product to me. - Power Tool Accessories - Modeling'

Jeans
These are great jeans, which is what I expected after owning some Carhartt jackets. The sizing seems to run a little large in the waist, but I should have ordered a smaller waist size. Great jeans, buy them! Carhartt Men's Relaxed Fit Straight Leg Jean,Dark Stone,36x30
As expected from Carhartt, these are well made jeans which are a bit thicker and more durable than average jeans. They are comfortable and fit well, and have been holding up nicely so far. I look forward to having these around for a long time'

WOW !....What a book. I had previously had been purchasing the "Dummies" books going way back, beginning with Windows '95. I was disappointed with the recent Windows 7, so decided to look elsewhere. (But I did buy Google Apps for Dummies, which I thought was acceptable)
I recently up-graded from Windows XP/Office2000 to Windows 7 and Office 2010. What a drastic change in both operating system and program.
I'm not completely sure if this is a book for a new user of computers though. The explanations are excellent the pictures are clear and descriptions of processes are excellent.
This is the type of book that came with computers, at their birth.
In my opinion, if this book was purchased by a novice they would be disappointed. A "Dummies " book might be a better choice.
The index, ...in my opinion is somewhat lacking (although massive).
Ex....I was looking for the Excell "AutoSum" function and it was no where to be found, which I thought was very strange.
So for the money it is an excellent choice, but you might need other references depending on your skill/experience level.
And on the minus side...Amazon shipping took 12 days. Usually 4-5.(Maybe Christmas rush played a part) Office 2010 Bible
I've been using Microsoft products long to remember when books similar to this one were included with your software purchase. While those days are 'long gone', the Walkenbach/Tyson/Groh Office 2010 volume pretty much fills the resulting void. I was drawn to the Office 2010 Bible when I upgraded my home system to a new laptop plus Office 2010 and the latest version of Windows all at the same time, I needed every bit of help I could find in order to get back up to speed. The Office 2010 Bible has been invaluable as a quick reference, procedure guide, and familiarization tool. While the table of contents sometimes frustrates me when I attempt to find a feature whose actual name I don't know, overall the book has repaid my purchase price many times over. It may not be perfect, but you'll do yourself a favor by purchasing this book and then keeping it next to your computer. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Leading experts in MS Office provide a fine reference of all features of Office 2010 in Microsoft Office 2010 Bible. From creating a document in Word and applying advanced editing options to using Excel's formulas and building a fine PowerPoint presentation, this is packed with step-by-step references to all functions from beginning to advanced features, and is a top pick for any computer reference collection.
Unless you need a book to simulate a weight for exercising, skip this tome, which has too many pages and too little information. I bought it--and then returned it--after it failed to tell me in detail how to edit and manipulate the Ribbon, a key feature of the program. The info this book provided was totally unhelpful about the Ribbon. - Missing Manual - Outlook - Microsoft Office - Office 2010'

Case - case
I like value for my money and get cranky when I dont get. So here comes my review: This is a review for the Kaces Backpack style full size violin case. Okay, I often carry a violin in a crowded urban area, in and out of trains, busses, on the street, up and down stairs, elevators. You can easily damage a good violin with all that action. I only keep my violin in this case from now on. This Kaces Violin case is superbodaceous, handsome, sporty, and could probably fill in as a very light and aerodynamic backpack for rockclimbers or bycyclists as well. I like it, its good, get it. Price is very reasonable. Five stars! Kaces Backpack Style Full Size 4/4 Violin Case with 5 Year Warranty
The Backpack case solves my concerns about my fiddle and bow really well, and I can carry the case by hand or strap it on my back while i carry my guitar at the same time. The set-up is a little heavier than I thought it would be, but I think the protection factor for the fiddle is worth it. There is enough room on the inside of the case under the neck to store the shoulder rest without changing it, which is great! I think the whole thing is well-made, and expect it to last a long time. Definitely worth the price.
For a very inexpensive case- this does a great job. It is extremely light and easy to carry around. However, it's not particularly well made. I've had it for about 2 1/2 years and most the of the inner hardware has broken, and the fabric on the inside is coming off.
In the picture doesn't it appear to have a two-tone grey color ? or grey and pale blue ?
Well, the one I got was black, and very bulky-looking, very 'masculine', and quite a bit heavier than I was expecting.
This wasn't "pickiness"... I needed it to be lightweight as I am rehabilitating from a back injury...so I had to return it, which was also a hassle as UPS doesn't pick them up, but the company did pay for the shipment. - Case'

Touch Screen - hd camcorder, touch screen
30X zoom is nice, and video quality is quite acceptable, as long as there is enough light, and you are not zooming full range; not as good in low light. There are 2 things about this product, though, that made me return it, and give it 2 stars.
It records the sound of it's own zoom, and, to the lesser degree, the auto focus. If outside sounds are not laud, this sound is quite annoying, and spoils the video.
The image stabilization is not nearly sufficient when zooming beyond about 20X; it's clearly inferior in this respect to other camcorders with similar features, like my wife's Panasonic.
I wouldn't recommend this product. Samsung has to do a lot of work to refine it. Samsung HMX-H304 Full HD Camcorder with 30X Zoom and 16 GB Memory (Black)
Arived on time and in good shape. 30X zoom is good. I like that you can select 1080i, 720p, or even 480p. 720p looks fine on our 37 inch Samsung 720p LCD HDTV and the files are a lot smaller. I also like that you can drag and drop files directly from the SD card to your PC - no conversion required. Screen on camcorder is very difficult to see in bright sunlight.
Just got this little thing of beauty tonight and I'm very very pleased. It completely blows my old-school camcorders away and is effectively 1/4 the cost in today's terms. Easy to use and full 1080p HD. Picture and sound quality look great on playback on my 51" plasma. File format works perfectly for playback on my PS3.
What a great little device! Oh - and you can't hear the zoom as claimed by another reviewer - there must be something wrong with his unit.
completely agree with alex. this camcorder is amazing, the price is amazing. even works with windows movie maker, which is a must for my household. glad to know i can play the vids on the ps3. filming the kids' football games is about to go HD!
Look, if you're not into video editing or professional photography and just want a VERY simple and easy to use HD camera that works well, this is the camera you should get. I use this mainly for family outings and it works amazingly well. For the price, this is a very good camcorder and for just a regular camcorder user like myself it works better than I expected. The 30x zoom is awesome and the touch screen is very simple to use.
Great camera! I bought this to video my son's ballgames and a wedding and have been thrilled with it. The picture is great, controls are easy, although it took a little time to get uses to the touchscreen controls. The automatic settings are good, but the manual settings make it even better. I know there are more expensive cameras with more features but this is a great camera for the price! The only con I have is the lack of an external mic jack. Sound was still good with the internal mic, but would love to have the separation that an external gives you. I would highly recommend this camera!
The HMX-H300 is an incredibly well-kept secret. This is, as far as I know, the least expensive, full-fledged camcorder that records 60 frames per second in 720p HD. This means buttery smooth slow motion in FCP 7 via Cinema Tools or retiming in the new Final Cut Pro X. This camera is so tiny and light that I park it atop the hot shoe of my Nikon D3s for ready accessibility or even grabbing video while I'm shooting high res stills. (The shows I create use both.) Prior to this camera, the Canon 7d was the only reasonably priced option. At the $250 via Amazon, the Samsung is a phenomenal bargain. Video quality doesn't rival Panasonic's new AF100 but nonetheless is acceptable, given the opportunity to shoot 720p 60fps. Try it, you'll like it.
This is a simple camera for consumer level video. Clean and straight forward it makes getting images on and off the device a no hassle affair. Not for the pro, and not for the person that wants one of the little and cheap "Pocket HD" cameras either. My only complaint is that it doesn't do 1080p, but a lot of good pro equipment doesn't either. - Hd Camcorder - 1080p - Touch Screen - High Definition'
