Swimming - reusable swim diaper, swim diapers

We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old and it has worked well so far!

Pros:

Saves on cost of disposable swim diapers - especially since he often goes in our pool for just a few minutes each day

We haven't found the need for more than one, it dries out in between uses no problem

Cons:

The white fabric has gone somewhat yellow :-) Stain removing washing has helped, but in future we might consider a colored swim diaper instead iPlay White Ultimate Swim Diaper, White, 4T

I love this diaper, it is so much better than the sun smarties brand. It has a heavy duty cloth material in the diaper so there is less leakage. My son properly pooped 10 times in this diaper and no poop got in the pool at all, it stayed in there diaper. The only negatively thing about this diaper is that it can be messy taking off when poop is involved, especially a lot of it. My way of dealing with it is putting him in the tub with the diaper on and just taking the diaper off there and hosing my down, a lot less mess.

Price is great, saved us a lot of money, I will recommend this product to everyone. Very well made. My son is 28 lbs and we got size 3t to have some extra room in there.

We use this week after week for my daughter's swim class and it still holds up great! It's been in the chlorinated pool for about 12 weeks now and it still is white. I do wash it immediately after using it though... (in cold water, but I throw it in the washing machine with a mesh bag, even though it says to hand wash -- I don't have time for that!)

This product was not what I was expecting. The material, the sizing and elasticity of the leg holes. This needs to be snug in order to do it's keep poo in the pants job. The material is the same as a hospital bed protector material. The printed Iplay swim diapers are what I recommend.

The title pretty much sums it up. If you are looking for an inexpensive swimming diaper, look no further. Why spend 15 or 20 bucks on the thing when you can pick this sucker up for 10. It works and it goes under the swimsuit anyway- so you don't need all the ruffles or designs. Highly recommend

Every time I read about swim diapers, I read that they aren't meant to absorb, just to contain solids. Since I want to be able to put my kids in their swimsuits *before* we get to the pool, rather than AT the pool (or beach), this was a problem. The disposable swim diapers don't hold any urine at all. I was a bit skeptical when I read that this one would absorb, but looking at the diaper, it's obvious. And it works, too - we took my daughter to the beach, and she was terrified of the ocean - she wouldn't go near it. But we had her in this diaper and her swimsuit for about an hour, while she played in the sand. The diaper was wet when we came back, but her suit was dry - no leaks. Of course, it probably isn't as absorbent as a regular diaper, but compared to other swim diapers, I'm pretty impressed.

This is otherwise a very high quality and comfortable swim diaper- it's extremely soft. However, it's inferior to disposable swim diapers in some ways because it's not meant to handle poop accidents while in the pool. Disposable swim diapers are much more snug and safeguard against poop too.

That being said, if your child is potty trained and you need a swim diaper for your local pool- this is a great choice. It's easily washable and doesn't chafe against kids skin.

Works well, washes well, contains solid waste. The side snaps are key in getting the diaper off without making a mess. Seems like a better alternative to disposable swim diapers for the environmental impact and cost. Buy two so you have a spare in case of a big accident. Very pleased overall!

I bought two of these for use at our local pool, and for a beach vacation later in the summer. Even though my daughter is 2 1/2, I bought the three-year size after going over the measurement/size chart. So far, the diapers have held up well to chlorine and to being washed in the machine (air dry, please!) My daughter doesn't complain about the leg or waist elastic; and the openings are definitely snug enough to contain anything that might fall their way. I also like the fact these diapers have some light absorbancy in them. They also are roomy enough to wear over a disposable swim diaper, if you needed to. (Some pools are extra-fussy about that.) The diaper does stick out beyond the leg holes of my daughter's swimsuit, but that doesn't bother me. - Swim Diapers - Diaper - Reusable Swim Diaper - Pool Diaper'

240hz - led

Size, weight, appearance are fantastic. Picture is not great until tweaked, but WAY better than just ok. Same for the sound. You'll have to tweak it - there are lots of settings...once tuned, it performs really well. Wi-Fi connect is perfect. For the price, screen size, features - this TV is a great buy. Packaging was terrific. I am *very* satisfied with this purchase. Toshiba 47TL515U 47-Inch Natural 3D 1080p 240 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Net TV, Black

I was a more than a little aprehensive about buying this TV since I did not find one review prior to purchasing. I had done a lot of research on Natural (passive)3D LED-LCD HDTV televisions. I even bought a subscription to consumer reports to gain more information. I read reviews on as many models that I could find that fit my criteria. I wanted a passive 3D system, I wanted a screen at least 46 inches and after researching I decided I needed at least a 240hz refresh rate to avoid the "ghosts" I keep hearing about. Unfortunately most of those TV's were expensive and I wanted to keep my price point below $1300.00. Then I found this Toshiba. The price point was great, no tax, and shipping was only $25.00. Set up was easy (my 19 year old son did it...may not have been easy for me). I heard on other reviews from many of the other televisions that the default picture settings needed adjustment but all I did was turn it on and was AMAZED. This picture is crystal clear. I have had the TV for about 2 months now and it still continues to amaze me. Although I don't watch a lot of the 3D channels, but this is VERY COOL. I have never had a ghost issue, even when watching sports. It feels as if you are in the picture...I wish I had more 3D programs available to me. I did watch the british open the other day and thought I saw a trail after a putt of the golf ball...but it didn't happen again. Interestingly my kids brought home a set of 3D glasses from an imax theatre the other day (I am NOT encouraging people to do this...) and those glasses also worked with this TV. Another reason I wanted natural...I did not want to spend $100 dollars for more glasses. My father owns a Sony HD LCD and he is impressed with the picture I have vs his.

My only two complaints are: there is a big lag time between channel changes. It feels like a minute or so after you change the channel until the picture comes back but I am sure it is only 20 seconds or so, I am just used to that function being instantaneous. The other is the sound. I read reviews on all of the other comparable TV's and they all said you need to get a decent sound bar or surround sound because of this so it was expected and I will eventually invest in an up to date system.

All in all, I am very happy with this TV...I made a big leap of faith that it would be everything I had hoped for and have not been dissapointed. I thought about giving it only 4 stars because of the sound and channel issue but it is such a great TV otherwise I didn't think it was fair. Hopefully this review will help someone else take the plunge!

I have had this TV since late July 2011 and so far have been "extremely pleased" with my purchase. It seems to be unjustifiably underrated. "Crutchfield" likes this set and they're no technology dummies!

I purchased this television after first having had a look at the comparable 47" passive 3D LG TV which - overall - did not impress me as much as certain "overly enthusuastic" members of the "LG True Believers Club" writing reviews here on Amazon.com would have led me to believe. You can see my review on this TV elsewhere on Amazon.

The integrated WIFI connection on this TV is "rock solid". I have had absolutely no problems with having to repeatedly input my network information due to a lost wireless connection or anything of this sort. Just set up the WIFI connection once and then forget it. Streaming from the Internet - either through the TV istself or via my WIFI-enabled panasonic Blu-ray player - is smooth and flawless, which it should be with the 10 Mbps download speed that I have available at home. And the integrated WIFI means that both of the provided USB ports are avilable for other things - no need for a USB WIFI dongle on this set!

Picture quality is "great" as far as I am concerned. I am by no means claiming that this TV has the absolute best picture quality available anywhere and this is unnecessary. I don't get too obsessed about the picture of one TV being technically 10 - 30% better than that of another. In most cases we're not dealing with truly "good" versus "bad" image quality, just different levels of "goodness". Choose the set that's "good enough" for you overall; that's all that matters.

When first receiving this TV be sure to perform the software upgrade/update and then do "NOT" leave the television on the default "AutoSave" picture settings which emphasize "energy savings" over picture quality. Instead select the "Standard" picture settings. If you do all of this, you should end up with a very nice picture. And if you are so inclined, the Toshiba has a large number of settings that you can tweak to approach whatever your idea of picture perfection may be. Personally, I'd rather spend my time doing other things, but the potential to do this is readily available.

The Toshiba TV certainly more than meets my needs of watching the occasional over-the-air TV program and then streaming on-demand content from the Internet via WIFI. I have also had the opportunity to try out the passive 3D effect/experience of the set and it is very realistic; the images appear to pop right out of the screen - works fine for me.

Sound quality - although acceptable for built-in TV speakers - certainly can be improved and I have done so by adding a soundbar system with wireless subwoofer to the set (Panasonic SC-HTB520 2.1-Channel SoundBar Speaker System with Wireless Kelton Subwoofer, see my review). The combination works like a charm, a great sound upgrade! And everything can be controlled with the Toshiba's single remote control.

I give this TV a rating of "4" out of "5" stars in light of the following things that I felt could be improved:

1) Stand implementation could be better. I would prefer a stand with more metal parts and less plastic (see Panasonic TVs) that attaches to the bottom/base of the LCD panel - better weight-bearing functionality and less strain (again see Panasonic) - instead of a stand that attaches directly to the back of the LCD panel. If one of the attaching screws does not come out easily, you may have difficulty removing the stand if you ever want to wall mount the TV in the future.

2) Changing channels is a bit slow for my taste (as another reviewer already has mentioned). They do all switch, but the time delay is a bit longer than expected or needed - essentially a minor inconvenience.

3) The Internet apps provided with the Net TV function need to be expanded. The selection so far is "very" limited, but this does not bother me, because I have other streaming-enabled devices (Blu-ray player, etc.) available to provide additional choices. This is something that Toshiba can -and hopefully will - improve in the near future. - Led'

Playstation 2 - playstation 2, video games

I have been interested in this game recently, and I finally gave in and bought it. It is well worth every penny. I have been a major RPG fan for years, and this one is high on my list now. I think the most powerful and recommendable part about this game is its story. It is a story that is TRULY epic. I remember thinking to myself at one point that the plot twists in this game seem more like something from Shakespeare or mythology than the standard, run of the mill RPG. The issues of racism, hate, and prejudice are all handled so well in this game, and it makes the characters much more interesting than just powerful heroes. The story is also very seldomly predictable. I like this a lot because some recent RPGs have been so easy to predict, like FFX. With a couple of thoughts, about 90% of the storyline could be foreseen after reaching only about the half-way point of the game. I think that this RPG does not fall to this error at all. Also, I really like the battle system in this game. It is really similar to FF Tactics. The style is move around and attack. It keeps the turn based style a lot more interesting than usual. It is a definitely refreshing change.I also loved the music and graphics in this game. It is completely stunning. The only drawback is that there are no side-quests (unless you want to fight in arenas to unlock secret characters, which there are two of), but the story runs so smoothly that they really aren't necessary.I hope that many of you will buy this game and enjoy it as I have. Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits is a Strategy RPG simular to games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Shining Force, and Ogre Battle. Not a standard RPG like a Final Fantasy X, Suikoden, and so on. Let's get to the review. The story is well told with solid voice acting, and an intersting plot. You plays as one of two brothers as main characters, switching between their stories before they eventually meet up. But their very gathering could cause great disaster. Added to the two brothers are 12 other main playable characters who can take place in battle with you.Battle takes place on detailed hand drawn locations and instead of an old fashioned grid movement system you are alowed total analog freedom of movement (within your characters max walking distance) before you can attack an enemy. The game rewards you hard earned time with some fantastic full screen magic spells. Ice meteors, flame swirling everywhere, even a selection of summon beasts. The characters vary from human swordsmen, archers, and even some cool looking demon people.I think that the games highest praise goes to it's music. It sounds very proffesionally composed and has a very celtic feel. Flute and bagpipes along with standard RPG fanfar themes. Overall, I am really looking foward to this game. It seems to be a very solid Japanesse RPG with it's share of good cinematic scenes, character developement, and eye poping spells. For the price tag, it's worth it, go for it!!

On a world that depends on magical energy for it's motive power two races vie for control of the scarce source of that power - spirit stones. Humans seek them out to run their maachines, and the Deimos, or demons, seek them because their very nature is magical. Children of a rare Deimos/Human relationship two brothers who were seperated at birth are drawn into a web of conflict that makes them mortal enemies - each raised by a different race, each sworn to defend their own by killing the opposite. Kharg and Darc are their names and this is the story of how they discovered that there are even worse enemies out to destroy them both. The game is a standard RPG in format, but shifts the player back and forth between Darc's demon quest abd Kharg's human one. As the game builds the player can select characters for battles, and chose how individuals will develop skills. The plot meanders back and forth across the face of the world in carefully orchestrated fashion, the only variable being how many random conflicts one finds. You need a large number of these, since money and spirit stones are extremely scarce commodities. So hard to find that their acquisition will become the primary fixation of the game. The reason for this is that you have to stop fighting and actually pick up your winnings during the battle, rather than receive a lump sum payment. As a player who likes to acquire new weapons and skills, I found this irritating - too often you leave a titanic struggle with almost nothing to show for it. The other big flaw in the game is that it is completely linear. The game makes sure that you always do the right thing in the right order, which limits its replayability. Many people are comfortable with this kind of game, but I find that, once you taste freedom, you don't want to head pack. But most of my issues with Arc the Lad have to do with playing it right after playing Final Fantasy X-2. The result is that I became acutely aware of it's shortcomings. Of course, FFX-2 was created to be an extravaganza, and Arc the Lad was developed to be something less - just another decent, playable RPG. Thus the plot, which is really adequate for an RPG, comes of as glaringly tepid and character development seems sketchy and archetypical. Yet, had I played this a year ago I would have liked it much more. In any case, Arc the Lad is quite playable, even if it fails to meet the compelling quality of some of the releases of the past few years.

This review was written by my son, James Shea.

The first incarnation of the AtL series on the PS2, Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits is a tactical RPG, though more the latter than the former.

The game follows two viewpoints: that of Kharg, a human prince, and Darc, a Deimos (monstrous humanoid) slave. The two must unite to fight off a powerful army that seeks to capture the five elemental stones and gain ultimate power. The plot is, as it sounds, fairly cookie-cutter, and there isn't a huge amount of character development or really deep storyline. It's certainly not enough to support the gameplay. There are several attempts at "messages" - the splintering between the Deimos and the Humans as a metaphor for racism being the main one - but as a whole these are shallow.

The gameplay is "tactical", in a way, though the numbers of your party aren't as high as would be expected in such a system. Similar to Phantom Brave, each character has a radius that they can move in. Walking within range of an enemy allows you to attack them. Different weapons have different ranges, and certain skills also have longer ranges. Positioning for combination attacks becomes important.

The graphics are decent, and reasonable for a PS2 game of the time, but for the most part the character designs are uninspired. Every part of the character costumes and design seems to be stylistically taken from some other RPG, and none of them stand out in any way. The music is similarly generic; no particular piece stands out. This game is so remarkably average that it is unbelievable.

As a whole this game isn't excellent in many ways. It is simply another one of the seeming thousands of PS2 fantasy RPGs, and it doesn't add anything major or important to the formula that would be worth discussing.

Plasma Wall Mount - tv wall mount, lcd wall mount

Mounted my Samsung 50" plasma using this mount. My display is about 70 pounds.

Installation was fairly simple. The back plate is 30 inches wide, so you will only be able to get 2 studs max. Important points:

1. It is very important to make sure the lag bolts drill into the studs.

2. The included hardware is iffy, so go spend the $5 at your local hardware store and get some better bolts.

3. The level on the back plate is not 100% accurate, so make sure to use your own.

The important thing to to measure where you want your holes and then measure them again and then make sure everything is level.

The construction of the mount and rails felt very sturdy.

For those that have never mounted a tv before there are 2 parts. A back plate that bolts on to your wall and then 2 rails that bolt onto the back of your display. You then place your display on the backplate. The rails have hooks to secure it onto the plate and then screws at the bottom to make sure it doesn't come off.

Distance between the back of the display and the wall is about 2.25 inches. This is fairly tight and makes it difficult to hook up cables, so make sure your cables are hooked up before mounting the display. VideoSecu Tilt TV Wall Mount for Most 32"-60" LCD LED Plasma, Sturdy Steel Wall Plate Comes with 6" 3-Axis Magnetic Bubble Level Free 7 ft HDMI Cable M43

This is the second mount I bought the first one wasn't the right type but I am glad it wasn't for this mount is perfect for my needs.

I placed the 37" TV on a flat surface on top of a blanket to prevent scratching. I screwed the side brackets on. (I placed mine on upside down but I figured it out before and real work was done.) Time to mount the wall plate. I went and sat down in a chair opposite from where the TV was going to be and "eyeballed it" a bit higher. I then marked it with a pencil. I am not going to tell you the exact measurement because everyone is different so just make it at the height that you want it and remember the higher it is the more you have to look up to watch it unless you stand to watch TV. Okay now your gonna need a level you can try to fake it but I wouldn't since you are screwing holes in you wall. Draw a line with the level and line up the wall plate and screw it in. Some people say you should use better bolts then the ones that came with the mount well I used the ones that came with it and they worked fine.

You have the TV on the floor with the side brackets attached and you have the wall plate level and screwed to the wall. I wanted a more clean look so I drilled 1/2 inch holes in the wall with a hole bit on my drill so I could pass the cables through it. I would suggest you go ahead and do this even if you are not ready to attach all the cables.

Time to place the TV on the wall plate. Attaching the cables to the back of the TV is probably a good idea but not a necessity but it makes life easier. Pick the TV up and place the little hooks on the brackets to the wall mount and let go! Don't worry it will hold. Tighten the little clamps and make sure the safety screw is there.

Your done with the mounting now you just have to adjust. The mount allows you to tilt the TV but you have to unscrew the little knobs on side and if the TV isn't exactly right where you want it you can slide it from side to side a few inches.

There is enough room to reach your hand behind the TV to plug in cables but its tight and you have to look at a diagram of the connections on the back but it can be done.

For good measure and I wouldn't recommend doing this I held onto the top of the TV and hung from it for a second just to see how well it held. The TV didn't fall so I guess it did well.

Buy this TV mount you will enjoy it.

This TV mount was great. I used it to put up a 32" LG LCD TV in my bedroom. A 32" TV is the minimum since the wall bracket is visable around the sides. The bars covered up some of the connections on the back of the TV, but that is a problem with the TV, not the mount. I did buy some stronger stud bolts from a local hardware store since I wanted to be sure the TV would not fall. However, all hardware does come with the mount, including some very needed extenders since the TV pre-drilled holds were not very deep. The 15 degree tilt function works great. Be sure to have a stud finder to line up to attach the bracket correctly. I plan to buy two more for bigger TVs.

This high quality, strong and secure mount is comparable to those costing three times the price. It is strong and secure, and I had no trouble getting it to attach to my Magnavox 37" LCD TV. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Plenty of included bolts to match the inserts on a variety of televisions, and it even has the option to attach your padlock to the mount to secure the TV once assembled. Definitely recommended! - Plasma Wall Mount - Tv Wall Mount - Tv Mount - Lcd Wall Mount'

Entertainment - bayside, dvd game

I was recently at Border's bookstore & this dvd was at the dollar section. I searched to see if it was official <check> was it a game <check> was it convincing enought to buy <check> of course I would buy it for a dollar, but originally it was 20 bucks <YIKES!> 1st thing i did was, I called my friends over made some snacks and put the dvd in. It was fun & everybody said it was cool. But the dvd only has 6 games, all which have different puzzles, but are recycled again & again. Oh well, its just a DVD. After a week it got boring, but in a month I'll have forgotten most of the hard questions, & will have fun once again...

Do I recommend it? Sure, just as long you don't get bored easily. Spiderman DVD Blast

I gave this to my 13 year old nephew who enjoys Spiderman, Batman, etc. as a extra birthday gift. He was excited when he opened thinking it might be similar to "Scene It". He didn't have a DVD player to try it out right then, so few weeks later I asked him what he though of it.

Although he said it was fun, he did have the same response as another reviewer by saying it became repetitive after several plays. I decided to ask him what he thought would be a good price for this game because I wanted to know what value he had given it. He told me that he wouldn't pay more than $5 or $6 for it, which is actually more than I picked it up for so I decided it was a good enough deal.

If you can pick this up for $5 or less I'd say it's a worthy add-on gift or something to have around the house to play with visitors.

We bought this game for Christmas. Our family members are really big fans of the Spiderman movies so I thought this would be fun. It really was. We have watched the movies many times and still didn't feel like the questions were really easy. It was fun to play as a family! The price was the best part! I got it on clearance and that is always a plus! - Betty - Affordable - Dvd Game - Bayside'

Long Battery Life - acer, windows 7

I just got this netbook yesterday and it was supposed to be a Christmas present from my boyfriend, but I just couldn't wait to open it. I haven't put it down since!

It's small and compact, and is pretty quick. In the item description, it states that the hard drive is 160 GB. When I got the computer, I read the box and it states that the actual formatted capacity is less and may vary depending on preloaded materials and operating environment. When I actually looked at my computer's hard drive, it was 133 GB. I just wanted to share that because I know that some people will use this for pictures, video and music. I am using it almostly exclusively for surfing the internet, emails, and Microsoft Word.

The keyboard is 93% of a normal sized keyboard. Yesterday it was pretty difficult to type because I wasn't used to it, but today I'm doing a lot better! The only problem with my typing is that I keep forgetting that you can't put your wrists down on the touchpad because that moves the cursor and I end up typing where I don't want to type. I did purchase a wireless mouse, which works great, but unfortunately you cannot disable the touchpad built into the notebook.

The battery life is approximately 4 hours, give or take. I would like to have a 6 cell lithium ion battery instead of the 3 cell, but I don't know if they have 6 cell available for this particular netbook.

The one downside is that you have the choice of small print or medium print. If you choose to use the small print, it is so small that your eyes need to rest after about an hour. Besides that, when on the internet, you cannot read a lot of the words because the letters actually blend into one another. So, I use medium print. However, it makes it much more difficult to navigate the internet because not only do I have to scroll down, but I also have to scroll over to see the entire page.

It's thin, compact and portable. It works great for what I need it for! My daughter has an iPod touch 8GB new generation, and now she wishes that she had one of these netbooks instead! Acer Aspire One AOD255-2509 10.1-Inch Netbook (Diamond Black)

This is one of the lightest netbooks around at 2.2lbs (1.03kg = MacBook Air!) for 3-cell configuration. The adapter is very portable and slim at .4lbs (187 grams). It is an elegant, elongated wall wart that plugs into the wall. The plug can even be turned 90 deg to fit your outlet. I think it's the best thing about this Acer product, and they are using it for their newer 11.6" CULVs 1430 and 1830, too. I hope other makers follow this trend and eliminate the thick AC cable at the wall end.

The AOD255 itself is also very thin: at a time when Sony, Dell, and HP gets fat and lazy with 3+lb netbooks that measure 1.2" (3cm) thick, Acer cuts it down to 1" (2.5cm) from front to back (3-cell). At netbook scales, these minute differences in weight and size makes all the difference. To be fair, HP's latest netbooks are lavishly detailed and finished, at the cost of bloated size and weight; the Dell Mini 10 (1018) is passively cooled with only minimal hard drive noise, but looks (and weighs) like it ate the AOD255 for lunch. Toshiba NB500/520 is also needlessly heavy and bulked up, touting Harmon Kardon speaker quality (hint: it's not so good as those speaker grills look). Netbooks makers, Asus (see the EeePC 1018) and Acer excepted, seems to neglect the miniaturization opportunities afforded by the Atom platform. And people wonder why tablets and smartphones are in vogue.

When I bought this I thought it would be the closest I'd get to the VAIO X in terms of portability, a fair compromise at 1/4 the price, and approx. 40% more weight. Why did I want to return it then?

The Fan Noise.

The vent is wider at the bottom of the case, with 3 slits at the top clearly obstructing the airflow, creating a whole lotta turbulence noise, but no wind I can feel. It's like the architect routed your chimney stack to drainage pipe level. The heat gets recirculated inside, making this Atom netbook much hotter than my CULV Acer 1410 (U3500). What's worse, the noise is high(er) pitched. This is an obvious engineering oversight approved by a product manager who hears not, or a designer without common sense.

But still, if you can live with the high frequency noise when doing anything besides typing, and it's silent while just typing, in notepad, I think you'll appreciate its class-leading form factor. The ten or so tabs I keep open in Firefox, however, barely give it any idling rest.

I bought this gift for my wife a couple of weeks ago from another online site.

So far it has been an excellent investment.

Pros: Lightweight, easy to install, faster than Vista. Mine boots in under a minute. Price was excellent. According to some reviews online this is the first Acer Aspire netbook to come out with a dual core Intel Atom processor. It was released in Oct of 2010.

Cons: A little bogged down with pre-installed software. No optical drive (DVD/CD). Initial install setup time is around 20-30 mins, you cannot simply turn it on and use it.

Other Thoughts: Ok, only had it for two weeks now, but will change this if necessary. First I uninstalled Mcafee, Norton, and Office trial. Googled Windows 7 apps, read reviews and installed: Google Chrome Browser, AbiWord, Gnumeric Spreadsheet, VLC Media Player, Panda Antivirus, Paint.net, 7 zip, foxit pdf reader. These programs were recommended for a faster experience on Windows 7 Starter and they certainly deliver. Using Chrome is comfortable and fast. Foxit is faster than Adobe. Also consider installing enhancemyse7ven to keep your new pc optimized. This pc is still new but it seems reliable so far. It's probably as fast as XP which came out 8 years ago. The battery seems to last long. It boots up in about 57 seconds (at least mine does). I originally was going to install a Linux OS like Ubuntu but after seeing how well Win 7 starter was working, I decided to keep it. If anything changes I will update this review. - Acer - Windows 7 - Best Netbook - Netbook'

Contemporary Fiction - dating, gender switch

In My Shoes is a really enjoyable read that I didn't put down until I was done. It's the story of two teenagers who go through a magical ride to a really great ending that will have you going yeah. Jake and Nicole are the main characters who both tell their stories alternating throughout the book. The author does a masterful job of weaving their stories until you feel that you know both these kids really well and can feel the pain and humor that they are going through. The ending was just perfect. I'm looking forward to this author's next project. In My Shoes

This was an enjoyable read from start to finish. It's perfect for teens but adults will like it too. Fast-paced, well-written and funny while still paying to attention to the problems that can occur in this unusual situation.

The book sounds like Freaky Friday, but even better. It has it own little cute story with a personality of its own.

The story is read in the eye's of Jake, where you see his daily life at school, his friends, his family as well as the girl who turned him down in an anger filled attitude. Just when he wishes for Nicole to know what it was like for a guy, he would no sooner regret that wish, for in the morning he wakes up with boob's.

The story is a rather good one, high school setting, keeping it somewhat real with the social class of the students. Just when he happens to change bodies, the comedy side comes out. Its easy to read, good for Pre-teens and Young Adults, but the older audience shouldn't turn away either. For a fun read, a chuckle and an open mind, this book will entrap you in its own hidden magical way.

A brilliantly conceived novel that not only fully captures the gender experience, it allows one to feel what it is like to actually BE someone else, seeing the world through the eyes of another. That's the great news. The sole criticism I have, and I have mixed feelings about even expressing it, is that the book completely avoids the sexual titilation of a gender switch that would have catapulted it to a much more interesting and realistic level (realistic, that is, for a total fantasy). After all, if one is somehow transported into the body of a person of the opposite sex, wouldn't it stand to reason that the individual would want to explore at least some aspects of that persons sexuality? Now come on, how often do you get that chance! In that sense, I found the book to be a bit puritanical, but I think this must have been by the author's design and didn't detract from the entire experience.

That said, this was a most enjoyable read and I would heartily recommend it.

This is the first story I have ever read that really captured the indecision and confusion that is the high school experience. The almost adult earnestness with which the characters go about tackling the issues they face in the story totally reminds me of that time.

The story definitely kept me turning the pages and wanting to read more, even though I think the best and most appreciative audience would be teenagers and young adults. Strangely enough, I did learn a few things about the trials and tribulations of today's teenage girls - as I have no daughters myself. I think the book would make an excellent topic for a book report. Absolutely love the cover design!

My initial reaction to the premise of this book was, "it's been done." The idea of swapping places with someone goes back at least as far as "Cyrano de Bergerac" who did a low-tech version. The book "Black Like Me" wasn't a full-fledged swap, but did mine the same territory. "Freaky Friday" is an even better touchstone. I'm sure there are many more I'm forgetting or don't know. Then I read the Stephen's bio on Amazon where he says he wasn't much of a reader, rarely reading for fun, until about five years ago. I wondered if someone with so little experience as a reader could do a competent job as an author. My concerns turned out to be unfounded.

The reason certain story types are used and reused is the basic premise has a lot to offer. The cliché about walking in someone else's shoes, the obvious inspiration for the title, has endless variations. The variations on this theme that are most likely to make a good story are those with two people prone to misunderstanding who find it difficult to imagine what the other person's life is like. The parent child swap in "Freaky Friday" is a natural. So is swapping a teenage boy with a teenage girl.

As you'd expect Nicole and Jake find living the life of the other is more complicated than they realized. Stephens thought a lot about what it would take to make a situation like this work. Jake and Nicole gave each other extensive debriefings so they could learn to act correctly, otherwise they could damage relationships with friends and family for the other. Jake, in the body of Nicole, had to learn how to apply makeup and stop walking like a man. I was impressed at how well Stephens handled the details; especially the difficulties Jake had being Nicole.

A potential pitfall of a novel like this is keeping track of who is who. If Jake does something, is it Nicole in Jake's body or Jake in Nicole's body? Most of the time Stephens managed to keep this clear. Any uncertainty was limited to the confusion the characters were also feeling.

This is a fun read for teens and many adults. It should give either gender an appreciation for the challenges of the other - I know it did me. Or you can choose to overlook the lessons and concentrate on the humor in the situation. It's funny, as long as it isn't you in someone else's shoes.

**Originally written for "Books and Pals" book blog.**

When I started reading this book my impression was that it was way too detailed, too redundant in its storytelling and too pristine. But I found myself going back as quickly as possible to finish it. It was fun to read, more so for the younger teen (not too young though as there are details about sexuality) and was good entertainment.

The writing is easy enough and is mostly conversational. The two main characters, who get mentally switched and end up in the other person's body (male to female and female to male) and have to negotiate not only the details needed to be the other person within their classes, families and friends, but also to portray the opposite sex, including make-up, hairstyles, fashion, locker rooms. etc.

It was amazing to me to read from the female perspective as written by a male author.

It is very idealistic and the kids are sweet and studious. A fun read, maybe not as realistic as teen life is these days though. This was a gifted copy. - Contemporary Fiction - Dating - Freaky Friday - Gender Switch'

Dickies Work Pants - rabiah, pants

I recently bought a pair of these for work and I love them. They are a nice blend of material (60%cotton, 40%poly); and are durably made.

The best part is that they fit really well. They ride pretty low and are long enough to not look silly with work boots on. The slash pockets lay nicely and don't pull like other brands I've had.

I'd highly recommend these if you need nice looking pants that you don't have to iron (just pull them right out of the dryer looking great!); they don't shrink; and they feel like they will wear really well. Dickies Girl Juniors' Original Low Rider Work Pant, Navy, 5

I ordered two pairs of these pants, not knowing anything. They are a bit stiff, but the fit is perfect and not "dorky" at all like a lot of the other school uniform options for girls who are in the Jr/Ms. sizes. I will order more of these when they go on sale again.

This is a winner, my daughter attends a school that requires a uniform. The past few years I have found similar pants at the Gap, last year the Gap went really trashy, meaning very low rise and snug though the seat and legs, let me remind you this is a youth size "kids" I searched though many big box retailers and was told by another Mom that Dickies made a really fashion savvy pant that would appeal to my tween.

The size was true and the quality is spot on! It has made it though numerous washing and still looks new.

over all this is the best work pant, they are comfortable, they dont wear out and well i love these much better than i do dickies stretch pant. those are gross! if you want a pant that is going to last, not shrink and not shred these are the pants to buy. i work at a grocery store and wouldnt choose any other work pant

I have been wearing this brand and style of work pants since I was 15 and a size 5 LOL! They last a long time through many washings. The material is very wear resistant. I tried the styles with spandex and they were rags within a year. These are stiff at first, but soften up after a few washings. HARD TO FIND!

I normally wear about a size 3, but I try slightly larger sizes for work just to make sure the pants aren't too tight fitting. These, even at size 5, are very tight, and they are made from a very stiff material. So if you have a job like me that involves a lot of bending and moving, then these are probably not the pants for you.

The inseam on the size 3 juniors were 32 inches! My wife is 5' 7" and the pant leg had to be hemmed up. Likewise, don't forget these are 'girl' pants. Therefore my wife found them just a little snugger around her womanly hips. They also don't have a button, just a hook closure, so be sure to take good measurements before ordering or you'll have to exchange them like we did. - Long - Dickies Skinny Pants - Rabiah - Pants'

Plasma Wall Mount

I relied heavily on other reviews to make this purchase, so I feel it is necessary that I leave my own. This is a great mount at an excellent price. The product specs on the website say it will fit 30-56 in flat panels. When the product arrived, the box says 30-50 in, so I got worried because I bought it for a 52 in Samsung. After reading other reviews, I decided to try it before sending it back. The mount fit our tv perfectly, and there was plenty of room. I also didn't realize it had a tilt feature, which I didn't think I wanted. It actually came in handy once we had the tv on the wall and were trying to secure it. Another reviewer mentioned having to attach all the connections to the tv before mounting, but with the tilt feature, this is unnecessary. The instructions were easy to follow, and installation was a breeze. I HIGHLY recommend this mount and buying on Amazon! Sanus VMPL50B VisionMount Tilting Mount For 30"- 56" Displays - Black

I have a recessed cavity for my flat panel LCD with no access to the rear of the Television, so I was concerned about the accessability of any latch that would secure the Television brackets to the wall plate. This unit includes "optional" (in my opinion) safety bolt that will secure the brackets to the wall plate, gravity holds the brackets onto the wall plate. So to gain access is as simple as tilting the base of the TV out and lifting the TV off the wall plate (truly a two person job). The construction of the unit is robust stamped (12 gauge approx.) steel, with a high quality finish (satin powder coat). The wall bracket is 29" inside the side stops, and the maximum span of the bracket mounting holes when mounted on the wall plate is 26 1/2". The tilt operates nicely on plastic glides. Sanus even thought of including concrete wall anchors with the extensive hardware packet! No worries with this wall mount, it is the same one that you would pay 2X the price at...!

I purchased this wall mount for my 46 inch samsung lcd hdtv. The instructions were easy to follow and the installation was quick and simple. The mount came with 3 different sizes of screws to connect to the back of the tv but unfortunately none of them were quick the right length for my tv. I ended up having to go to to a hardware store to buy bolts that were the right length. A minor inconvenience but one you have to keep in mind.

A word of advice, you need to make sure and have all your connections hooked into the tv before you put it up on the wall mount. Since the mount leaves the tv very close to the wall it is very hard to connect anything once it is up. It is very simple to lift the tv off the mount but it takes 2 people so be warned. Great piece of hardware and I highly recommend it.

I'm pretty satisfied with this wall mount (so far). I'm using it with a 52" Sony Bravia HDL-52W4100 (71 lbs.), and I have read that other reviewers were having to buy additional screws in order to fasten the hooks onto Sony TV's, so I emailed the company ([...]) and asked them what were the proper size; I got a prompt reply and I bought a few of the screws at Lowes before I went home (tried Home Depot but couldn't find them). After looking at all the supplied hardware at home, I discovered that in fact the proper screws WERE there (metric M6 x 20mm), so no harm, no foul. Anyway, I hit wall studs with 6 screws (weird wall) but actually had to use a shim on one end because my wall is bowed (previous owner attempted to be a carpenter), used the center mounting holes on the hooks to allow for the most up/down adjustment, and up it went. As with other reviewers, I also hung on the bracket to test it out before I put the TV up. Had to do some minor math to figure out how high to mount the bracket related to where the hooks were connected to the TV, so the height was pretty close to how I wanted it (top of the screen was level with my eye while standing up); there's about 5-6 inches of height adjustment available, thanks to all the holes in the TV hooks, but you need to be at least in the ballpark (and the manual doesn't really help with this). You can be a little off center with the wall bracket (depending on how much side play your TV allows you) to allow yourself to hit at least two studs; the hooks cannot slide off the sides of the bracket, which I was pleased to discover, and the TV sits far enough away from the wall that I can plug in additional cords without taking the TV down. The bottom set screws that hold the hooks on the bracket can be hand tightened (at least, in my case), but it's wise to thread them on before you mount the TV. Some people wouldn't bother with the screws, but in my house I don't trust anything to not fall that's not nailed or bolted down, and the hooks are not all that deep (one bracket I saw at BJ's Warehouse had a large hook with a coat rack-style bracket), so better safe than sorry; I suggest hand tightening them all the way and then backing them off a turn so you can make minor sideways adjustments. The tilt feature is a plus, as well; a little downward adjustment can get rid of a lot of glare.

I just bought the fam a new Sony KDL-46V2500 46" Bravia V-Series 1080p LCD HDTV for Christmas. I had plans on mounting it on the wall but didn't want to pay someone $300 (not including parts) to come and mount it on the wall for me. So I did some research and Sanus came up as the best flat panel mount out there. So, I ordered it...

It came with all the parts you need to mount on any kind of surface. I was mounting mine on over the fireplace which is a brick wall. So, all I needed to buy was a 1/2" masonry drill bit and drill holes in the mortar.

Only thing that I did not like is that it did not come with the right size screws for screwing the brace to the tv. I had to run over to Lowe's to pick up some longer screws to fit the tv.

In all, this is the absolute best mount out there for your HDTV.'

Zombies - walking dead, henry viii

Ironically enough, I've had a tumultuous relationship with The Tudors ever since it first started. It was an odd, kind of on-again, off-again relationship that ranged from near-fanatic fandom to downright apathy. I was a fan of Tudor historical fiction novels before the show began, and was more than ecstatic when I heard that Showtime was bringing the infamous Henry VIII to the screen with his many wives.

Sadly, the series didn't always deliver for me. The biggest issue for me, especially in the first season, was the incredible number of historical inaccuracies. Even though this always bugged me throughout the entire series' run, I had to just put it aside and accept the fact that this show is a Hollywood-ized version of Henry VIII's reign. Perhaps the aspect that got me through were the lush sets, impeccable art direction and absolutely gorgeous period costumes and accessories (especially on all of Henry's queens) -even though the costumes were more like Tudor style mixed with modern couture influences (okay, they looked cool).

In season four -titled by Showtime as "The Final Seduction" -Henry deals with war with France, lingering religious issues, his own fading health and of course, wives five and six -Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr, respectively. By this point, of course, Henry should be very rotund (300 pounds) and nearing the end of his life. Even though Jonathan Rhys Myers does get the aging treatment in the final episodes and they try to dress him up in large, heavy clothing to make him look a little bigger it's doesn't quite work-though it's at least something.

The season, overall, is relatively entertaining, though some episodes are better than others. The first half deals primarily with the young Katherine Howard, her affair with Thomas Culpepper (and Lady Rochford's well-documented involvement), the oddly included misadventures of Lord Surrey (a supposed distant relative of Katherine, who is a boring and pointless character) and Henry's continued political troubles. While I didn't find Kitty Howard particularly likable, Tamzin Merchant brings a strong liveliness to the character and emphasizes her age, her questionable moral character, and the fact that she is a completely inept queen.

After beheading poor Katherine Howard, the married Lady Latimer (Catherine Parr) grabs Henry's attention. Once her husband dies, she reluctantly marries Henry, and decides to use her new position to advance her strongly Protestant beliefs. Henry, meanwhile, departs to France for war and Catherine dodges accusations of heresy. After the war is over, Henry's health starts to decline until he dies.

The highlight of this season should have been the much-anticipated and strongly rumored "dream sequence" in the final episode that would feature Henry's deceased wives. Though this ended up being somewhat disappointing (only three of the wives appeared), it was good to see some of the ladies return to Henry's life at the end, but it just wasn't enough. The fact that I felt let down by this, as well as the somewhat anti-climatic ending, left me with an unsatisfied feeling at the end that even made me wonder why I had spent all of my time watching the show. You know what would have made this finale better? More Anne Boleyn -okay, maybe not, but I've seriously missed Natalie Dormer since she was knocked off at the end of season two. Not only was she a wonderful actress, but she portrayed a strong and compelling Anne who stands as the strongest and more interesting of Henry's wives, stealing the show in every scene she was in.

Thus ended my strange relationship with Showtime's The Tudors. Even though I had my doubts, I kept with it until the very end, and, unfortunately, wasn't satisfied but have to admit -journey getting there was entertaining and wonderfully done. The Tudors Season 4 [HD]

I agree with the reviewer who noted the historical innacuracies in the Tudors series. While some of these innacuracies can be condoned on grounds of poetic license, some appear to be egregiously gratuitous (i.e., having Henry's sister Margaret not only marry the King of Protugal--which never happned--but then have her murder him!) There appears to be no dramatic reason for that kind of historical innacuracy which is truly unforgiveable. On the other hand, I am more forgiving of the Series having Wolsey committ suicide rather than dying of natural causes inasmuch as there was some speculation at the time of his death that he did indeed commit suicide given that he was facing the curel justice of a vengeful Henry.(And certainly if Wolsey did committ suicide, Henry would have every reason to cover it up in a way that the historians could not access). A more serious criticism is that the Series apparently made no effort whatssoever to represent Henry even close to how the paintings of the day depicted him. Arguably the "young" Henry--depictions of which are quite rare--could have looked something like the actor in the Series, though the dark slicked back hair of the actor is hard to reconcile with the descriptions of Henry as more blond and stocky. And certainly the marine crewcut styles are even more difficult to reconcile with the images available. But perhaps the worst failure is to not have Henry age at all over his entire reign, especially given the numerous historical sources which all agree on his ballooning obesity and deterioration in his health. This failure is all the more stark given the near perfect depictions of Ann Boleyn and Katherine of Aragon by the actresses.(Especially the depictions of Anne Boleyn which is so nearly on the money that it's almost scary). So why, given these obvious deficiencies do I give this Series four stars? Because I applaud every attempt by the dramatic arts to make history interesting enough to inspire an interest in history. Many of those who watch this series will go to the history books and read the real stuff (and hopefully discover that Margaret never married the Kind of Portugal, and never in fact murdered him). Indeed, had the Series at least made a half-hearted attempt to depict Henry according to the sources available, and not engaged in the most egregious of it's historical innacuracies (the marriage of Margaret to the Kind of Portugal), I would have given this polished, entertaining, and addicitive production a full five stars. (I appreciate very much the use of candlelight in the indoor night scenes). - Henry Viii - Walking Dead - Survival Horror - Tv'
