Awesome Product Impressed - delta, lavatory faucet
I absolutely love the style of this faucet! It fits perfectly into my Italianate home. My only complaint is about the lever to close the drain. It is almost impossible to get the screw tight enough to prevent the rod from slipping out of place and rendering the drain plug useless. The good thing is, that it is an easy fix. Other than that, I love my new faucet! Price Pfister 043-VTYY Virtue 4" centerset lavatory faucet - Tuscan Bronze
Absolutely beautiful! Well constructed - most faucets I looked at in stores have a small gap at the base of the handles where they attach to the solid base they sit on. I don't want to worry about cleaning in the gap. This faucet does not have any gaps. I am completely pleased. - Awesome Product Impressed - Delta - Bathroom Faucet - Lavatory Faucet'

Backpack Rod
I've had one of Daiwa's pack rods for many years. At that time it came in a rectangular carrying case and the guides were thread wrapped - rather than taped. As a friend has had one with the "T" shaped case for 25 years, it must be somewhat older than that. Because it can be broken down to such a small size - it is an excellent rod for canoe portage fishing trips and for hiking in through the brush to the best trout streams. I have caught everything from 12 pound northern pike to brook trout and pan fish with this rod. In recent years my wife has purchased one as well. While it will never have the natural feel of a one piece rod, it does surprisingly well for coming in five pieces. My wife says it is my lucky rod, and after many years of "borrowing" it from me - I bought her one of her own. She loves to fish for bronze-backs and has already put fillets in the frying pan numerous times. Daiwa Mini System Minispin Ultralight Spinning Reel and Rod Combo in Hard Carry Case
I have had one of these for over thirty years. I bought this one for my son. The MiniSpin is still an excellent way to take a high quality fishing combo wherever you go. It is not the rig for chasing huge fish, but I have caught pike on mine, and my son caught a four pound bass with his the first weekend he used it. This is a serious light spinning outfit. I recommend getting a second spool and filling one spool with four pound line and one with six. The four pound line works great with this rod and reel for things like crappies and smallmouth bass. Much more fun than just hauling them out of the water with a stiff rod and ten or twelve pound line. Six pound gives better results where there are weeds or bottom obstructions - you don't lose so much terminal tackle. The plastic latches on the case will wear with time, so I use a large elastic band to hold them closed. I highly recommend this package.
this is a very good and sturdy fishing pole i love and i use it all the time reccomend it to all. It is easy to cast and put togeter and do not lisen to the 2 star guy he did not have his reel on tight enough.
I've received my rod on time. well few days after I got it, I went to fish for some panfish, and what I can say about the reel is that works very good even for casting I've tried some spoons and it worth, and about the rod, it is very flexible I caught 2 largemouth bass of about 6 pounds ea. it bended like if will break down, but finally nothing bad happened,I totaly recomend this kit,it came with out line but is good after all.
Start of all, the 'packaging' is very awkward. Its undie-shape doesn't really fit into medium backpack. Secondly, the rod is just a little bit off balance, tiny little bit.
But what-the-hack, given its light weight, smart design, and 'appears-to-be'(yet to be testified) quality build, I have already recommended the kit to all my friends.
It's a must-have kit when you come and visit the land down-under, because there's fish everywhere!!
I recently received the Daiwa mini spin travel pack, I love its features especially its size and pistol grip handle. I was so excited that i found a combo that I could fit into my hydration backpack. I'm a mountain bike enthusiast and always look for places to go especially where fishing is feasible. The case was broke in three places when it arrived, o.k. I blame USPS for their poor packaging, called distributor and of course its on back order (3weeks) no problem i was still anxious to bike to the river and cast. After a 3hr ride i arrived and set up the pole, seemed well enough and durable. AFTER 3 CASTS THE REEL WENT RIGHT INTO THE RIVER, o.k. I manually retrieved it by pulling the fishing line, disappointed but still liked the pole about 2 more casts and again it happened, i inspected the pole and found that very little effort was needed to pull the reel out. I decided to pack it up and upon breaking it down the last part of the rod broke while disassembling it, dammit. Now I'm upset and hope I just got a defective one, since it's made in china that happens i suppose. It's features are the only reason it got more than 1 star, AND I DIDN'T CATCH ANY FISH!'

Safe Scooter - kickboard, scooter
Amazing! Expensive scooter but worth every penny. Can be dismantled so its very easy to take everywhere. We had the mini kick scooter from 18mths old & it was still going strong after 3 years of continuous use but unfortunately our son outgrew it. Looking forward to many years with this scooter that grows with your child! Highly recommended!! maxi kick Scooter - ORANGE with T-Bar Steering. Winner of the Oppenheim Portfolio Gold and Platinum Seal Awards 2009
These scooters are great. My 3 year old zips all over on it. He is easily able to steer and stop. It is low to the ground which makes it easier for him to ride. The two wheels in the front give more stability. It even works well in our neighborhood where the sidewalk is not in the best shape. All of the boys in our neighborhood have these scooters. They prefer them over bikes. I got the Maxi kick for my 3 yr old (the older version) and he rides it with no problem - I'm glad I got the older version than the younger version, he'll be able to use it for years to come.
We already had the Mini-Kick for our 3 year old and our 4.9 year old really wanted one too. She was not ready for a two wheel scooter and this was a perfect choice. She can work on coordination and "zooming" but this is far more stable. I was worried about some of the cheaper and less balanced scooters; we had heard far to many stories about broken bones on other cheap scooters.
Its a smart design and took one click and one turn to put together. I love that it is height adjustable and will grow with her.
We are very happy with our purchase.
Paid 129.99 on sale for my 5 year old. He loves it, and the handle bar on the lowest setting is perfect for him right now. It was super easy to put together. And it is really cute, I love the bright orange color. I feel like this kind of scooter will help him to learn how to ride a regular skateboard in the future. I don't let him ride it without his helmet and I am going to get some knee and elbow pads too. These are my issues with it:
1. It's way overpriced in my opinion, even on sale
2. The foot board is completely plastic, I wish the frame underneath the board was made of something stronger.
3. The T-Bar is straight up and down, which puts your body and center of gravity off balance a bit.
I feel like this kind of scooter will help him to learn how to ride a regular skateboard. It is a fast little scooter so I am going to purchase knee and elbow pads to go along with his bike helmet. - Scooter - Kickboard - Safe Scooter'

Energy Conservation - appliance timer, digital outlet timer
NOTICE: For those in doubt about using the bottom wall outlet, please view my added photos above.
This timer is well-worth the price.
The majority of outlet timers only handle 2-prong devices, and even then, they can't switch much of an electrical load. The few 3-prong timers are either mechanical or, if digital, don't handle much current, have batteries to constantly replace, or are expensive on a per-outlet basis. We liked the Woods':
- 2 grounded (3-prong) plugs
- 1875 Watts (The timer, timer box and its leaflet show 1875 watts for BOTH Resistive and Tungsten, but Amazon and the online manual say otherwise)
- Self-charging rechargeable battery
- Manual bypass button
- Noiseless operation
- Up to 8 ON/OFF daily cycles for each of 7 days (allows timed events to cover sets of days, too)
- Daylight savings hour shift (just press two buttons simultaneously)
It also has a few features we won't currently need like randomized and countdown ON/OFF and the ability to cycle power to a minute's resolution.
I've tested this timer on our washer, freezer, basement dehumidifier, and our large air purifier. It easily handled all with no problems.
Other impressions: The picture shown above is accurate, but the rubber "Manual" button looks like a slider switch. Also, the days of the week arrows don't quite align between the display and its housing. The unit is solid and when plugged in to the upper of two wall outlets, allows our 3 prong (grounded) power strip to use the free outlet (a somewhat tight fit, though). Strangely, there is no mention of a warranty anywhere with the product. It is made in China.
UPDATE: One of the three timers we received stopped working. Amazon overnighted a replacement. The one that went bad now had a black carbonized piece in the bottom of the housing.
One thing to note about the Manual button: It cycles through 4 modes (manual on and off and automatic on and off), A single press won't necessarily toggle it to override its current setting if you are trying to get something turned on or off. The modes make sense and are shown on the display, but it wasn't what we initially expected from a manual override button.
The timers work very well and it is nice to have the battery power the clock and the programming when unplugged. We like the durable feel of the housing, too. Despite one early failure, we believe this is still the best timer to be found for anywhere near the price.
NOTE: The Intermatic DT620CH appears to be the best alternative if this is not in stock, but when you visit their company website, they claim their timer will only switch 500W (1/3 hp) of Tungsten (lighting) and 1800W Resistive and Inductive (motor). Also, it uses two LR44 batteries, which are not rechargeable. Woods 59377 Digital 7-Day Lamp/Appliance Timer with 2 Outlets, Up to 8 On/Off Settings per day and Battery Back Up
Initially I thought this was an awsome product as it worked flawlessly. I was able to setup several different on and off settings for each weekday and weekend days. After the first 2 months I notice all the display locations were completely on so you couldn't read anything; until it was unpluged and it worked fine again. I reset it back to default, reconfigured all the settings and plugged it back in. Once again every display item was on so you couldn't read anything. It wasn't really a big deal since it was still working. Then after a couple more months it stopped turning things on and off. Now it's completely useless. I did get several good months out of this unit but I was expecting years...
I bought this Woods 7-Day Digital Timer to control warmrails (bath towel warming) in the master bathroom in my home. Without the timer the warmrails worked 24 hours a day, which cost about $17 per month or $200 per year. The timer keeps the warmrails powered only when we may need to use warm towels, i.e., early in the morning on Monday-Friday, early in the evening on Sunday-Thursday, later in the morning on Saturday and Sunday, later in the evening on Friday and Saturday. The rest of the time nobody needs warm towels, and the warmrails are powered off, which saves about 70% in electricity costs, i.e., it saves $140 per year. Considering how little I paid for this timer, the savings in electric bills have already paid off for the purchase of this timer. The internal clock in this timer is very accurate, and, what is most impressive, it keeps ticking and remembers all settings during power outages, which take place rather often in the area where I live.
This is a great timer with many excellent features. For one it has 8 programmable operations and can be used as a security timer for lighting, but the deal breaker was that it has a rechargeable battery backup in case of power outage. Where I live this is valuable as we tend to loose power fairly often. I was impressed with all the functions this timer offers for the price and recommend it as one of the better products on the market of it's type and cost.
One hitch in setting it up was size of the readout, but reading glasses helped and so was not a major issue ultimately. Worst problem was with setting the manual/automatic feature, but fortunately Aaron702's review saved the day where he states, and I quote "One thing to note about the Manual button: It cycles through 4 modes (manual on and off and automatic on and off), A single press won't necessarily toggle it to override its current setting if you are trying to get something turned on of off. The modes make sense and are shown on the display, but it wasn't what we initially expected from a manual override button." I completely agree with this statement as this feature is not exactly intuitive and nearly caused me to return the product as defective when it wasn't.
The instruction manual is not the greatest, it is a sheet of paper with writing on two sides. When setting time I thought it might have been wiser to mention setting daylight savings there rather than later on where I least expected to find that information so I would not have needed to go back and set it afterward. Also they call this setting 'summer winter' which seemed odd as well. It does not hurt to read the entire instructions through at least once before trying to set the device for this reason. - Appliance Timer - Digital Outlet Timer - Timer - Programmable Timer'

Patriot XPORTER 60X 4GB [PSF4GUSB] is a decent buy as long as you do not pay more than $20 in today's market for USB flash drives Patriot Signature 16 GB USB 2.0 Portable Flash Drive PSF16GUSB
This is a nice USB drive for my IT work where the days of lugging around install CD's are long gong....lol
Seriously though, there's enough space on this drive to store all my applications and perform back-ups to that I use on a regular basis when I visit customer sites. And I love that it's nice and compact!
Lifetime warranty = thumbs-up for this Patriot drive!!
IT Patriot Fan
Ever since they added the ability to use a USB flash drive on the Xbox 360, I've been wanting to get a 16 GB one. I picked this one up for $22 from Amazon and I'm loving it.
It only has 14.4 GB usable space when formatted by the 360, but that's more than enough to store a whole game on. It flashes red whenever it reads or writes but the light is inside the plastic, which makes it kind of a dull light.
The cap that goes over the end of the drive is very easy to lose since you have nowhere to put it while you use it. This isn't a problem for me since I just leave it plugged in to my console all the time, but it will be a problem if you bring this drive with you and use it anywhere. I knocked off a star in my rating because of this alone...
I used HD_Speed (a program to test flash drive speed) and the results were:
Read: 22.7MB/s
Write: 14.5MB/s
Read + Write: 8.3MB/s
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. If you need a drive for school or work or anything portable, this is probably not the best choice for you because of the cap design. But if you need a cheap alternative to a hard drive for the Xbox 360, then this is perfect.
I bought this for use with my xbox 360 and am extremely happy with the purchase. I put a lot of time into researching a bunch of different drives to use as a backup to my HDD and decided on this one. It's been great. It doesn't look like it in the picture, but there is a red light inside the plastic to show when it is in use. Also, it has a nice compact size, meets the xbox 360 speed requirements when tested by the xbox, and is cheaper than most other 16gb flash drives out there. I also plan to use this to transfer data between hard drives when I upgrade to the 360 Slim model, which for only a few more dollars than the data transfer cable this drive retains usefullness after the data swap.
I've never written a review before, but when I was researching various drives for use on a xbox 360 I found very little info as far as other customer reviews on this drive. I wanted to add my experience because I was a little wary pulling the trigger with so few reviews but am very happy that I did. I'm thinking of buying another for my PS3. Great drive at a great price.
I received this drive free when it was bundled with another Patriot product.
The plastic exterior is bit cheap feeling, but does the job. Unfortunately the cap cannot mount on the back of the drive.
I ran the benchmarks below using Ubuntu 10.10, USB 2.0 port, on a clean, formatted FAT32 drive:
$ sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sdb1 && sudo dd count=1k bs=1M if=/dev/zero of=/media/8bdb3b70-083d-4dcb-a6b3-dc685004056e/test.img
/dev/sdb1:
Timing cached reads: 2118 MB in 1.99 seconds = 1061.80 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 28 MB in 3.05 seconds = 9.19 MB/sec
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 235.332 s, 4.6 MB/s
Read/write speeds ~9 MB/s and ~5 MB/s is pretty poor performance for this day and age. I have $20 flash drives from two years ago that run circles around this drive.
I took a chance on this item, and it paid off. This is a great usb storage device. I purchased this for my xbox 360 (new Slim xbox), and it has been working Great. I have had this for about a month, and have had no problems with it. 5 stars all the way!
This flash drive seems to work just fine, and was less price than most other brands. My only problem was that the drive is formatted in FAT32. So I just reformatted it in NTFS to accomodate files larger than 4GB (Just in case, since I plan to backup vacation videos on it while traveling.) I have not had it long, so I cannot say how durable it is. So far, so good!
When I switched to a slim Xbox 360 250GB I kept my semi-dead 360 (the drive was about to die) as an emergency spare and sent its 60GB drive to a friend. The slim Xbox 360 fried its power supply within warranty, and Microsoft expected me to wait for up to 10 days for the part swap (took twice that). This happened the week that Tiger Woods 12: The Masters, came out, a game I was actually looking forward to. This left me with a spare 360 and no storage.
I didn't want to tie my only 8GB flash drive, so I ordered the Patriot 16GB. It was incredibly cheap, almost half of what I paid for my 8GB just a year ago. And it worked perfectly, I installed Tiger Woods 12 to it, and ALL of the DLC that was issued on launch day (both the Eagle and Birdie packs) and not a single crash in over three weeks of intensive gaming.
Physically it isn't much, it is just a cheap looking drive, without even a lanyard, and the cap is too easy to lose. But it works great, and the price is right. I am not even worried about the cap, I would rather have a drive with a fixed USB plug and no cap than a drive with a retractable plug and a messed up release mechanism. - Usb - 16 Gb'

Wrinkle Resistant - pleated, pants
Terrific slacks at a phenomenal price. He tried various Haggar slacks on in a local department store and knew the exact waist and inseam size to order. We were actually a bit worried because the price was so good. But...low and behold! Fabulous fit and terrific quality at a perfect price. Haggar Men's Luxury Gabardine Ultimate Comfort Pleated Cuffed Dress Pant,Black,38x32
Great pants. The other reviewers were right. I appreciate what they wrote as buying these slacks via Amazon saved me from the horrors of The Mall. The price is great too, and so is the design. Just because a fellow needs a little give in the waist does not mean that he needs massive butt-room or thunder-thigh leg width. These preserve the dignity, such as it is, of the wearer.
I am very happy with these slacks! Feel good, look great. Plus, they come pre-cuffed in most sizes---even "difficult" ones. Highly recommended. Cost less than half of what comparable quality pants from other vendors cost.
Since buying husband a pair of these they have become his favorite pair of work pants. He has many pair of Haggar slacks bought at Macy's but the material on these are his favorite and the fit is spot on. Very nice product.
These are great pants that give a little extra room around the waist when needed.
I bought 3 pair in Navy, Khaki and Stone. They fit me well and look good all the time.
Try a pair and see what you think. - Pants - Pleated - Flat Front - Wrinkle Resistant'

Burn Notice - bruce campbell
I watched "Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe" with a fair amount of expectation and anticipation. I have watched the "Burn Notice" series from its inception with my spouse and I think that it's fair to say that it is one of our favorite weekly programs. Add to that, I have been a tireless devotee to the brilliant Bruce Campbell for more years than I care to recognize in print (decades!). So, this made-for TV movie seemed like a can't miss proposition. And, indeed, it begins on a decidedly whimsical note as Campbell faces a military tribunal for an escapade gone wrong. With his trademark bluster, Campbell challenges authority like no one else! His character has become a fan favorite over the years due to his verbal interplay with his series's co-stars Gabrielle Anwar and, most notably, Jeffrey Donovan. Donovan directs this tepid prequel and puts in a cameo, but its just long enough to highlight what's missing from this incarnation of the Burn Notice saga.
As much as I liked the comedic stylings of the present day military sequences, one would expect a terrific, funny and larger than life episode to showcase Sam's outrageousness. In fact, the jungle exploits between a corrupt military junta and a ragtag band of rebel fighters just seems far too easy and conventional. In a set-up used in countless other films, Sam is sent as an observer to a third world nationality and discovers that all is not as it seems in their plight with rebel forces. Soon Sam is in the thick of things protecting an altruistic hospital (sweet) and its strong and dedicated American/Canadian doctors (no language barriers here!). But it is a sassy rebel orphan who really seals the deal in this film. Painfully unreal and contrived, the girl exists to personalize the story--but is just one more example of a character construct as opposed to a real person. That's right, the great Campbell's principle foil is a precocious teen--uggh!
The strength of Burn Notice, as I mentioned above, is in its verbal pyrotechnics. The characters play off one another with rapid fire dexterity, and Campbell is an integral part of that success. Here, the script lacks the savvy and the smarts necessary to make this must-see entertainment and Campbell's big persona fails to have a match in the likable, if forgettable, ensemble of the film. Another part of the series' charm comes from stylish adventure and a palpable sense of danger. Here, the action is straightforward and lacking the visual flair we'd expect from the show. And as for danger, there's never a doubt as to the outcome of this fairly generic tale. As a Campbell enthusiast, I prefer his campier film forays and as a Burn Notice fan--this only hinted at the elements which distinguish the show. I watched it, it was pleasnat enough, but I can't imagine a second viewing. If you don't watch Burn Notice, though--you're missing out. I suggest you start there! KGHarris, 4/11. Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe
What we learned from this movie is that Bruce Campbell can only play one type of character. Fortunately he does it well. You know this is going to be a comedy from the beginning when Campbell as Sam Axe is escorted by two SPs, with serious swagger music, through mis-operating gates and doors. Sam is a Navy Seal. He is not the "kill Bin Laden" type SEAL but the have sex with the admiral's wife (Chandra West) type of SEAL. This lands him on a job in Columbia dressed in camouflage garb designed to hide someone in the middle of the Atlantic.
In Columbia, while looking for terrorists, things take a twist and then another, and another. Kiele Sanchez plays a clinic doctor and was marvelous in her role. And of course what would a Bruce Campbell movie be without a chainsaw? 4 1/2 stars. Acting is not something Bruce Campbell does well, but we love to watch it anyway. The twists is what made the movie humorous.
No F-bombs, no sex, no nudity.
While this preorder gives little info. about the BD, I just received season 4 DVDs for "Burn Notice." Inside is a flier stating that this is an extended version (with some "making of" bits, too). The movie was about 88 minutes long. This is listed at 108 minutes (assuming this time does not include the included extras). Not sure how they could pad this for another 20 minutes. Perhaps, though, the "extended cut" part will influence some to buy this.
The movie itself was okay. A bit pat, but a fun time, if one's expectations aren't too high.
Even with low expectations, this tv movie didn't hit the mark. Bruce Campbell just couldn't save this project from it's incredibly low budget effects and the re-hashed (seen it a million times) plot.Noticeably absent was the traditional Bruce Campbell humor which usually can drag these types of movies to a positive review.
The Fall of Sam Axe is a must for all Burn Notice fans, he has been the comic side-kick, trusted friend (Apart from when he used to inform on you to the FBI...) and one of the key characters of the series.
You were always told he was an ex-Navy SEAL, but did not know about his past, what he did, why he helps Michael? This telemovie explains most of that, including his love of drinking.
Bruce Campbell carries the show well, providing a lead character that you just have to love. You get a cameo from Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) who directed this movie.
There are others who tell the plot, I just say, if you like to be entertained, like the Burn Notice gunplay, wise cracks, and action at a pace, then this is for you. GET IT!
I read many of the Amazon reviews before I bought this video and got the impression that this was a fair movie at best. After watching "The Fall of Sam Axe" I was (pleasantly) surprised.
This is a fun action movie without foul language, sex, or gratuitous violence. It represents the irrepressible Sam Axe as we have come to know him from "Burn Notice." It gives a little more background than we had before and I did not find it to be contrived at all.
I have bought all the "Burn Notice" seasons presently available on DVD and my sons and I are currently re-watching all of them, we love this series so much! (My sons are 17 and 23 by the way.) "The Fall of Sam Axe" was a perfect side-note to the series and I can say we wholeheartedly approve! - Bruce Campbell'

Microsoft Office 2010
I've had an opportunity to use Office 2010 Beta edition for a couple of months now and now that I see the full, final, edition I can say that this is a very worthwhile upgrade. First things first, I am not a techie. I am someone who uses Word, Excel and PowerPoint on a very regular basis, who really liked some of the changes in Office 2007 but who thought some things needed tweaking, so when given the opportunity for the beta edition I jumped on it and have not been disappointed. Office 2010 is to Office 2007 what Windows 7 was to Vista; that is, there are not many breakthrough, drastically different features, but a whole lot of polishing and cleanup to make it easier and more efficient. Overall, the program seems to run faster, incorporates many of the most commonly used options and makes them more accessible (eliminating many dialog boxes and tabs) and allows for more customization.
At first glance it looks very much like its predecessor, the ribbon is back and it is now also found on OneNote. There are plenty of sites that will give you a play-by-play on all the features available in this new version, so I'm just going to mention some of the biggest improvements that I've seen.
1) The biggest change is the addition of the web apps. It may not be a true direct competitor to google docs, but it allows for easier sharing of documents, as well as making your documents more accessible.
2) The ribbon is back and it now includes the "File" option and a new feature called "Backstage view." Backstage view incorporates the most commonly used actions in one place (yay! no more dialog boxes with tabs). You get the usual open, save and print, but you also get several templates for new documents, print layouts and ways to share your work, all without dialog boxes and tabs, everything is much more easily accessible.
3) Another new feature is that the ribbon is now customizable so you can organize it according to your needs.
4) There is a Paste Preview which lets you switch between paste options so you can make sure that your work will be formatted correctly.
Changes in PowerPoint.
You can now edit video directly on PowerPoint. You can trim a video, add effects, fades and even triggers for animations for the presentation. Another new feature is that you can add effects and edit images without the need for third party software.
Changes in Word.
One nifty new feature in Word is called "Navigation pane," which replaces the old document map. It incorporates minor changes in design that make big changes in productivity and ease of use. It allows you to quickly rearrange the document. Take for example a document with several headings/sections. The Navigation pane provides a list of all the headings. The headings are live, so you can drag them up or down, thus rearranging the document. It also incorporates most of the functions that used to be available in the "Find" dialog box but now they are all visible so you don't have to go digging through several menus to find the option that you need.
Changes in Excel.
Most of the changes in Excel deal with very large datasets. There is a new PowerPivot add-in which works great if you are dealing with a very large dataset that does not fit in one Excel spreadsheet. PowerPivot pulls the data from multiple sources (several Excel spreadsheets for instance) to analyze it.
Summary:
Overall this is one well planned and executed upgrade that essentially takes all the promises of Office 2007 and makes them a reality. Yes, some things are different, and it will take some getting used to; but, once you realize the improvement in efficiency you'll agree that the changes are mostly for the positive. The only thing that I truly wish had changed but didn't is that this version does not include Outlook. That is available in the Home and Business version. Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Student (Disc Version)
This is a worthwhile upgrade for me. I debated whether to do it or not and what version to get. I finally decided on the Home and Student version. I was pleased to see the price actually drop upon shipping. For me the main deal was OneNote 2010 which allows me to print directly into OneNote. In December I bought a new laptop and it has Win7 Pro 64bit. I was very disappointed to find that OneNote 2007 did not include a driver to print directly into it. While MS did provide a work around this much better.
One word of caution when you are installing. My MS Office install is a bit of a collection. I'm using stand alone versions of Outlook and Publisher (both 2007) and Access (2003). I had decided to leave these as is. Upon installing 2010 I was presented with two buttons: "Upgrade" and "Customize". I picked curtain 1 (upgrade). My bad! The install then proceeded to remove Outlook, Publisher and Access. Since the program I was installing did not include these products I think it's pretty bogus for the install process to remove them. I don't know if the "Customize" button would have allowed them to stay. I reinstalled the 3 programs and everything was fine, but I should not have had to waste time doing this.
First of all, I'm a long-time user of Office but I'm not a techie. I'm also not a professional secretary who knows and uses all of the secrets and capabilities of Office. I have been using Office 2010 Beta for several months. I have used Office 2007 for many years, as well as prior versions of Office. I've tried the word-processing and spreadsheets on Google docs and I have Open Office.
I use Word for a *lot* of basic word processing - writing reports & articles with foot-notes, head-notes, & tables of contents, not to mention personal stuff. I rarely use mail-merge. I use Excel for simple spreadsheets - including calculations and such. I often sort etc. I don't usually use charts & graphs. I use Power Point once in awhile but I don't do anything fancy with it. I have been perfectly happy with Word 2007 about 98% of the time.
I'm waiting for Google docs to get it together, but their word-processing program is missing a number of critical features and is *not* ready for prime time. As to their spreadsheet, you can't even merge cells vertically. In other words,
Google's programs are completely useless at this stage of development, though they're getting better. Google is also trying to build in the ability to use Word & (I think) Excel online, which is great. Google will get there. It's not currently an alternative to Word 2010.
Open Office is basic and is probably adequate for simple home computing. It would take some time to learn how to use it with Bibus & other freeware, though I imagine a techie could cobble together something pretty good. It's free and worthy of consideration. For many I'm sure that it's good enough, and low-end users should think hard about their needs, but Open Office just does not rise to the level of Office 2010.
Office 2010:
1. You cannot edit Office 2010 documents online (yet), whatever MS says. (Watch their wording.)
2. I haven't had any technical problems with Win 2010 Beta running on either Win XP, Win 7 SE, or Win 7 Home Premium systems. It's on par with Win 2007 in that regard.
3. Surprisingly, the ability to "pin" your most-used documents to the "File" screen of your applications is very useful feature. No more "most recent documents" list that is usurped every time you use Photoshop or something. Exceeds expectations, & one of my favorite features.
4. Organizing all of the functions by separate ribbons/menus is a great idea, especially since you can create your own ribbon with your most used commands. I did have problems locating some commands b/c they have been moved to different locations. In Word this was quite aggravating at first, but it's not an issue now that I know where things are & how to locate commands that I use less frequently.
5. Having your open windows at the bottom of the screen is handy, though it can be annoying until you learn to not accidentally roll your mouse over them. A so-so improvement. (This is a Win 7 and Office 2010 combined feature.)
6. Snap is a nifty feature that allows you to line up 2 pages from your apps side-by-side using the full screen. This has been very useful for me and already gets regular use. Drawbacks: Sometimes the text is too small or, if you enlarge it, doesn't always fit on the page. Still, Snap is definitely worthwhile. (Another Win 7/Office 2010 feature; IME Snap doesn't work with many non-Office applications.)
7. It's so easy and fun to use the different color swatches to brighten up my Excel spreadsheets. This is not trivial for me as I like to use color to emphasize different kinds of data. People find the spreadsheets easier to read that way. YMMV. You could do this in Office 2007, of course, but the procedure is much more cumbersome.
8. Excel is configured in much the same way as Word, with ribbons at the top for different menus. The ribbons are mostly pretty good, but more so than in Word, some basic commands are located in counter-intuitive places. For example, to copy or move a page, you have to go into Home/Format Cells/Organize Sheets/Move or Copy Sheet. The "format cells" menu is in a tiny font and located at the right of the sheet. There is a certain logic to the location, but the command for this simple task should, IMO, be right on the ribbon. (It's on my personal ribbon now that I found it.) Likewise, the Tables menu doesn't show the most simple and complete way to create borders - you have to go to a sub-menu of the Tables submenu to get to the old XP Format Cells menu where you can find number, alignment, tables, etc. One of those submenus is below the page & is easily missed. Don't be fooled; not all commands are on the ribbons or in the same menus as XP & you'll have to ferret some of them out. Oh, and so far I've found 3 "Format Cells" menus, and they're not all the same.
Minus 1/2 star for hiding the Excel commands ('cause I'll learn them but that was stupid) & round up.
You get the general idea. Office 2007 is significantly different from Office 2010. IME, Word and Excel, and to a lesser degree Power Point, are easier and more efficient to use. There are some minor annoyances and there is a learning curve, but it should be relatively easy to switch from Office 2007 to Office 2010. I wouldn't advise anyone to rush out and buy Office 2010 right this minute, but it's definitely a good product and worth consideration - when you're ready.
Did MS get it right this time???
And no, I don't work for MS.
Update 12-09-2010:
I decided to stick to the free Open Office for a couple of months and it was more than adequate for my purposes. Most importantly, documents were compatible *enough* with Office when sent via email (no recipients complained). Then I had to prepare and submit some legal documents. Legal IT systems hate non-MS documents, and many of them still prefer Works to Word. Go figure. Anyway, I'm now using Office 2010 exclusively on my workhorse computer but I still use Open Office for quirky extras such as decent flashcards.'

Invicta
Great looking watch. I love that you can adjust it yourself with just a small screwdriver. The flame fusion crystal is nice because it shines bright in the light with a slight blueish tinge, although you would never know that by looking at the pictures here. The watch really sparkles under the light.
The two small problems I have with the watch- it has a tachymeter measurement around the outside, I have no idea what that is, and second, the band is rubberish and squeaks sometimes when it rubs against itself. But overall, a very nice, affordable, watch. Invicta Men's 6713 Sea Spider Collection Chronograph Black Ion-Plated Watch
I bought this watch as a gift for a friend. The watch keeps good time and looks nice. It also keeps out water well and can be worn in the pool or shower. The band was rubbish and was replaced after a month due to poor construction and material. The price of $120 was fair. According to its list price of $795, well, that's just crazy. It's a good $100 watch, and I find saying it's a $795 watch is dishonest. A real $750 watch would have better crystal, much better workmanship, better movement, and a name like Tissot, Tag, Ball, or Fortis. I just don't want a buyer to be mislead thinking they're buying a high end watch when this is, in fact, a cheap, low-end watch with a value of about $120.00. Understand this the buyer would not be disappointed.
I received this Black Sea Spider yesterday and was floored by how bold the design is. I was looking for a cool, easy to read Chronometer/Tachymeter that could be worn as a Daily Casual watch. This 6713 fits the bill. It is big (Case 50mm) but the weight isn't too bad and the special rubber linked band helps with that, too. I adjusted the band length myself with small screwdrivers. I think you are supposed to remove the smaller screws, but it was just easier for me to remove the larger shiny ones! The nighttime viewing is good---Keeping in mind that the watch face gets a good daytime charge first. I wore it in the sun a couple of hours this morning and went to a movie wearing it this afternoon. All the markers were clearly visible and bright! I'm very happy about that, because some of my other Invicta watches have useless illumination.
Whereas the Quartz movement is Swiss, and some of the other parts and components ARE Swiss, I think this watch is one of the Invicta models assembled in China. If that doesn't bother you--(Keep in mind, MANY big-name watch companies are doing this to keep costs down) I'd say this is a GREAT WATCH for the money. I picked it up at an online retailer for $89.00!!! There are deals to be found on this watch so be sure to look around. I hope it will hold up over time---I own 5 other Invicta watches and they are all still looking great and keeping perfect time. (Some after 8 years.) This watch definitely has a High Quality feel and look to it. I plan to use it for sports and casual wear, but it would also look pretty sweet with a suit and tie!
I own two Invicta Reserve watches with the black Ion-plated Stainless Steel. It is a pretty durable finish but not as much so as Ceramic. If you bash or gouge this material it will show the bright stainless underneath, so be kinda careful! The 6713 isn't a "Reserve" Invicta model, but with it's generous size and lower price--it is a really nice cost-effective alternative.
My order arrived on the exact date at the exact time it was estimated to. The watch is amazing, such a great price for this beautiful watch. I love everything about the watch and the amazon service. The watch is actually even nicer than it looks in pictures, its pretty heavy. If you like BIG watches this will be a great purchase for you. Amazon made me happy once again!
This is a great watch - really big and bulky if you like that sort of thing. Heavy duty glazing over the face. The black rubberized band holds the color (doesn't eventually wear off like other stainless bands). The watch face is HUGE - easy to read underwater if you're going to do that sort of thing - but also great if you just like making the statement. I've had this over a year - reliable, no problems. I wear it every day in all kinds of conditions and still the face is not scratched, and it looks pretty much the way it did when I took it from the box.
A nice big chunky heavy watch when i received it. I know you dont get a bomb proof watch for 100 usd but its supposed to be like shower or wash your hands resistant but sad to say its not. When im through in the shower with this watch i can almost use it as a shot glass. The watch is even thirstier than my 3yr old son when it comes to water.Well what can you ask for?
This is a very popular watch in my experience however the one I received was not functioning correctly when I received it. Serious disappointment. I think people need to understand that buying online however convienient and despite deep discounts compared to retail stores, is a real hassle when you receive bad goods. A retail store is going to charge you way double for the same product compared to Amazon but what a disappointment to spend up your money and receive a faulty product and have to deal with returns and shipping back and forth and all that. I guess you get what you pay for!
I was really excited to receive the watch which was a bday gift for my husband. At first it was wonderful, just what I expected until we went to put it on. The latch to open it was almost impossible to open. Both my son and husband needed to get a gadget to help them open the watch. So disappointed!
I've been a watch freak since I was 8 years old, and the Seaspider is a nice, black chrono. For the money, you really can't go wrong. The face is very deep and the markers are very easy to see. The crystal has a blue tint to it when it reflects light, and that's neat. For a large watch, it is not too heavy; this is due to the polyurethane band. The band's material is the same thing they make skateboard wheels out of; good stuff. It is very scratch resistant, which is nice on a black watch. The links are easy to remove if you have small screwdrivers. I liked this watch enough that I also purchased a black mother of pearl Invicta Capsule. THAT watch is just amazing in every way!
Things keeping me from giving this 5 stars: The hands on my watch are ever-so-slightly off from the markers. This is an assembly error. Not a lot of QC/QA goes into a watch at this price point, so it is acceptable. The polyurethane band squeaks when it shifts/moves.
When you are talking about $125, that doesn't take you very far in the watch world. A Seiko quartz will cost the same (which is a good utilitarian watch), but this Invicta is a much more bold timepiece that will garner more attention and comments. I don't know if I can ever go back to thin Seikos...'

Ipod Dock System - alarm clock, ipod dock system
After about 15years my alarm clock finally died and it was time for a new one. The panasonic RC-DC1 works pretty much as advertised and I couldn't be happier with it.
All settings are able to be changed without an ipod/iphone via the buttons on the sides and face, however with an idevice things are very simple and intuitive.
A couple of quirks, however. Syncing the time, the alarm settings, and the radio presets are all separate actions. The alarm and radio presets are set by hitting sync on different screens of the memory loader app. They do not sync at the same time, as I learned when I woke up to static instead of a radio station. Although you select what preset/frequency you want on the alarm setting screen, it actually sets the radio only to a preset (preset 1, 2, etc) rather than the actual frequency of the station. If you haven't synced your presets, it'll tune to the default frequency, which in my area is nothing but static. Obviously, you probably won't be changing your radio presets very often, but after a power outage or whatnot there will be at least three sync actions to perform. That being said, this is something that could easily be improved by an update to the memory loader app.
The time is synced by pressing a button on the front of the clock. I actually like this feature because I like to set my alarm clock a couple minutes ahead and it won't be reset every time I adjust the alarm settings.
The events setting is pretty much useless. It seems as though it only will display events from the address book (birthdays... and that's pretty much it). It does not display events from the calendar. Again, this seems like something an update to the app could fix.
As far as the dock itself, it seems adequate to accommodate just about any configuration of ipod/iphone and whatever case you may have. There is about 1/3 of an inch space on each side of my iphone 4 sans case, and a small support beam that can be raised or lowered to support the back of the device. Once in place my iphone has a fair bit of wiggle room and is not seated particularly firmly, but it works well enough.
The display is back-lit and is a bit bright. The snooze button doubles as a dimmer button and there are three brightness settings. The brightest is too bright for me at night, but the lowest setting isn't bad and still very readable during the daytime. The volume is also more than adequate. The default volume level of 13 is way too loud, I turned mine down to 9... the thing is right next to my head. Sound is also pretty decent for a dinky little speaker in an alarm clock.
Overall, I love this thing. You can customize all your alarm settings, then plug your iphone in and sync it. Either alarm 1 or 2 will play from the ipod, buzzer, or radio, and either of them can be set for whichever days of the week you wish. You can even customize the length of the snooze. In my research this is easily the most, and easiest, customizable alarm clock I've seen. Panasonic iPod/iPhone Compact Clock Radio, AM/FM Radio, Dual Alarm and Clear Vision Sound (Black)
OK, so if one thing you hate about clock radios is locating and holding down buttons this is for you. Once you download the free App-store App called MemoryLoader, you can drive this whole thing from your iPhone app. It can set the time/date, load 10 radio presets, and change Alarm settings (by day of the week)just by syncing. When your phone is in the dock it charges and plays tunes (of course) but you can also change between radio channels by tapping the phone. You pretty much don't have to use the buttons on the clock unless you want to. Power goes out...no problem...just sync the time again off your phone and then sych your presets and alarms again. It does have a battery backup (battery not included) but I don't see why you need one. The sound quality is no Bose but thats not what I bought it for... its a clock radio.
Positive: well made device, fits iPhone4 with the case on it (at least mine), great sound and reception, very convenient and easy set up thru the Apple store free application, nice features and look, small size, easy to read the screen at any angle, good price, nice packing.
Negative: nothing really, except may be the backup battery CR2023 is not included, but that's a minor inconvenience.
This is easily the best alarm clock I've ever owned.
To put things lightly, I am not a morning person AT ALL. Finding an effective alarm clock is one of the more difficult purchases I ever have to make. This clock is GREAT.
Some people complain about the display being too bright. As far as I am concerned, they are nuts. How that display could be distracting when your eyes are closed is beyond me. Then again, I tend to fall asleep with the TV on and I have no problems sleeping during the day.
I love that I can now charge my phone next to my bed without having to use my sync cable and no other adapters are needed. The only reason I give this clock four stars out of five is because it can be difficult to seat the phone on the 30 pin connector in the dark because the phone sits in the cradle at a slight angle.
Others have said that the phone sits in the cradle a little loosely. That's actually a good thing because I do not need to take my phone out of its case in order to charge it or sync the times. I currently use an ifrogz case with my phone, and I've tried it with some of the available bumpers, and I can keep my phone in all of them while it charges in the dock.
The ability to set which days the alarm has to go off is great. I don't know how many Saturdays have been rudely started because I forgot to disable the alarm the night before.
Being able to set the alarm with the app on the phone is great, too. No more accidentally setting the alarm for PM because I forgot what that stupid little dot symbolizes when the alarm is set at night.
Speaking of the App, the first time I set the phone into the cradle, the clock recognized that the app was not installed and displayed a pop up on the phone that took me to the application's download page in the App store right away. Programming the radio presets was the only part that wasn't 100% intuitive for me.
The speakers on this thing are amazing. I've never owned an alarm clock where the radio was actually listen-able before this clock. The music comes in LOUD and CLEAR. Quite impressive for the size of the unit. The music isn't tinny at all and the speakers do an impressive job of duplicating the bass in certain music. I may actually replace some of the stereos in my house with more of these clocks.
If I could change one thing about the functionality of the clock and its features, I would like to be able to set the audio source to one of the various music applications on my iPhone. Let me pick a station on Slacker or Pandora or some other station. Or, let me pick the song the that starts playing when I use the iPod as the music source. It starts playing with the last song you listened to.
I would also add in a Micro USB cable to charge phone accessories such as Bluetooth headsets or extended battery packs. - Clock Radio - Docking Station - Alarm Clock - Ipod Dock System'

Kindle Devices - microsoft office 2010, microsoft
Well, I reluctantly purchased this book before my computer class... then realized later that the spiral version I received did NOT come with the SAM software, which was REQUIRED for my class... so I had to drop an extra $85 on the key code (yes, just some numbers) I was under the assumption this book had everything I needed for this course, but I was disappointed that it did not.
That aside, this book was VERY informative... even though I was already familiar with Word, it really helped me understand other areas of Office as well. I definitely picked up a handful of new things along the way and I'm glad to have this book in my library for future reference for myself or my wife! Microsoft Office 2010: Introductory (Shelly Cashman Series(r) Office 2010)
It definitely is a thorough textbook. I am sure if anyone is taking a class this is a perfect textbook for them. I really wanted more of a reference book on the new MS Office 2010, where I could look something up and see clear explanation of how to proceed and learn from it. I'm not satisfied with the book for what I need, but it certainly is full of examples with questions, quizzes, and I'm sure a great workbook for class.
Beware and check first.I bought the book for a college course.I did not know the class required a CD that goes with the book..Cost me another $100.00 to buy the book at the campus bookstore with CD included. The book bought from Amazon had no CD included.
This book is the best if you want/need step by step instructions on how to use Office. I recommend this book to anyone who is a beginner or advance. You will learn things you never knew existed with this software. I recommend it highly. shipping was fast too. Best price around. It was cheaper than the college book store by me. If you need a good text book, buy this.
Excellent for introduction to MS 2010--better for users with prior experience as it is densely written and for a newby a bit overwhelming. If you have been using MS and need a intro to new user interface and where to find what--the exercises will teach you that and fill in any knowledge gaps you may have had in other MS features. We will certainly use frequently as a resource.
Microsoft Office 2010: Introductory (Shelly Cashman)
This is a wonderful step by step book for new users of Office 2010 or ones upgrading from a previous version of office.
Well written and easy to follow for anyone.
This is a very good training manual for the entire Microsoft Office Suite. My son's school is using this training manual as a text book for the freshman computer literacy class. It offers a hands-on approach to learning using template documents and real-life examples. I recommend this manual for anyone wanting to become proficient using Microsoft Office products.
Amazon consistantly has the lowest prices on textbooks for College. The book arrived very quickly and I had it in plenty of time before classes started. Brand New book. Best place to get textbooks for sure.
Text books are way over-priced. They change the version yearly to protect their selling market base! Often the older cheaper versions, still too expensive may be used though you have to search for the exact quotes and areas of learning. This helps you learn though by skimming and retaining info you might have missed. The shipping was cheaper and quick too! I highly recommend using Amazon and it's dealers rather than normal on-line retailers. One click shopping makes it also so fast and simple. - Microsoft Office 2010 - Office 2010 - Microsoft - Kindle'
