Impact Drivers - 18 volt, cordless

Not long ago a friend gave me an extra DeWalt 18 volt drill he'd come into. I'd been using a 12 volt Makita for over a decade, and I was impressed with how much more torque and battery life the DeWalt had. The same friend also had a DeWalt impact driver from the same series, and again, I was impressed how well this handled mechanical tasks usually relegated to a pneumatic impact driver. But even more impressive was how well the DeWalt worked for driving screws.

A few years ago, the major cordless tool makers started to come out with impact drivers which they marketed not to mechanics, but to carpenters. While today's 18volt cordless drills do a pretty good job of driving screws, they still start to bog down when driving really long screws into hard or resinous wood. The slow, stall, and eventually overheat. But impact drivers don't do this. They work on a different principle, using a motor-driven hammer to repeatedly strike an anvil that drives the output shaft. As the load increases, they switch from spinning to a rapid-fire staccato impact mode, in which every impact turns the screw a bit farther, while the motor continues to spin and bring in cooling air.

I was very pleased to discover that Amazon had a DeWalt impact driver available in a batteryless and caseless package (for those of us who already have a charger and several batteries) for about $125. I purchased mine for a mix of yard projects- this is a great tool for driving the big screws used to tie landscape timbers together- home projects, and motorcycle/scooter maintenance. And amazingly, it's even lighter and more compact than the DEWALT DC759KA Heavy-Duty 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit. I'm giving away my Makita 12v drill/driver to a nephew who likes tools and gadgets, and switching 100% to the DeWalt system. Bare-Tool DEWALT DC825B 1/4-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Impact Driver (Tool Only, No Battery)

I bought this last year after my Black and Decker 18v drill died it's 3rd death. I got it in a 4 tool combo kit on sale at Lowes. I build haunted houses for the Halloween season so most of what I do construction wise is with rough and sometimes very old and hard woods. The woods are also made super tough (like rock) from a chemical that must be sprayed on them to make them fire retardant. I found that before, even with an 18v drill that screws would shear off before going into the boards which made it difficult to make secure connections in the wood. It is hard to make something look old and spooky and still have it be safe so having good, solid tools is a must. Right after I charged the battery I tried this tool out. Wow!! It drove a 3 inch deck screw into an old hardened 2x4 in the blink of an eye!! I had never used a tool like that. It quickly became a favorite of mine on the jobsite. I used it hard and it never once let me down. I bought it toward the end of the build so I only got to use it on a few hundred screws but never a disappointment. I'm looking forward to using on this season's build as well as in my volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who builds.

I bought this tool to add to my dewalt collection. I have had the 18volt dill for years and did'nt think that I need an impact driver. I was wrong. I am using the impact more that the drill for driving large screws. It make the jobs much easier. The driver was shipped by a third party and I received it in just a few days. I was very impressed. This is an excellent tool if you do lots of repair work with 2 by lumber.

I have long been a loyal DeWalt costumer, especially when in comes to cordless tools like the 18v drill I purchased 6 years ago. That drill quickly became my favorite tool and has seen constant use since. In fact I was so happy with the drill that I did not see any reason to buy an impact driver, until a couple of projects I was working on required me to drive a large number of constuction screws and lag bolts. My drill was able to drive them but not as easily or quickly as I would have liked, so I decided it was time to give the impact driver a try and my only regret it that I did not buy one sooner. This driver is by far the best power tool I have ever owned. It is absolutely necessary for driving lag screws or anything comparable but also preforms so much better in less demanding tasks like running deck screws. I have discovered that it is also quite handy for boring large holes even though that is not the intent behind the tool. If you put an Irwin Speedbore bit in this thing it will chew through 4 by lumber in no time. Using the driver for boring has saved my wrist on a number of occasions as those Speedbore bits require quite abit of torque to run and if the bit binds up while using a regular drill all that torque gets transferred to your wrist. Now that I have a set of Irwin Speedbore and Spade bits plus a decent hex drill bit set my drill is relegated to drilling metal and the occasional pilot hole.

This driver is also much better at removing rusty and stripped screws than my drill, just another unexpected bonus.

Without exception this is the one tool that goes with me to every job. - Dewalt - Cordless - Impact Drivers - 18 Volt'

Pencil Grips - ot, handwriting

I bought both The Pencil Grip and The Pencil Grip Crossover for my daughter. She actually holds her pencil correctly, but her grip is so tight that she hurts her finger. These grips open up her hand. They are fatter and cushier than other pencils grips I've seen. My daughter says they make it more comfortable for her to hold her pencil.

The difference between The Pencil Grip and The Pencil Grip Crossover is that The Pencil Grip Crossover has wings, which help prevent students from wrapping their thumb around the pencil.

The grips are easy to slip on the pencils and use. The only problem I had with it were the instructions, which had an illustration of the standard Pencil Grip. They instruct us to place the large end facing down, but it's hard to tell which is the large end, the bulbous end or the end with the wings? I had to go online to see how to use The Pencil Grip Crossover.

Basically, place the pencil in a vertical position with the eraser resting on the desk. Slide The Pencil Grip on with the stamped words "The Pencil Grip" facing down. If the child is right-handed, his thumb goes on the "R" and his index finger on the "L." Vice versa for left-handed children.

It's not easy adjusting children's pencil grasp. They like to hold it the way it works for them. This pencil grip helps adjust hand position without the constant need for verbal correction and the kids seem to like it. Even my son is using it, and I never asked him to. The Pencil Grip Crossover Grip Ergonomic Writing Aid, Metallic Colors, 6 per Polybag

We LOVE these pencil grips. One of our children has trouble remembering how to hold his pencil. These are the best grips we've found. He likes how comfortable they are. The grips really help him hold his pencil correctly.

We first used these when our daughter's preschool teacher gave her one to help correct her grip. She has had issues with griping pencils with her entire fist which makes her handwriting messy and tiring. These help so much! They also seem to work as a 'trainer', meaning she will use one while writing for several minutes then take it off and continue to hold the pencil correctly. The first one we had didn't last long when the dogs got at it. They are soft and colorful which seems to make them yummy looking to pets. After the first one was chewed up we went to the store to try and replace it only to find every other type of grip except this one. We bought several others which didn't help at all before buying these here. The only other sites we could find them on were school supply shops that only sold packs of a dozen or more, charged more than amazon (on a price-per-each comparison), and wanted nearly the same cost as the grips in shipping. I was so happy to find these here with free shipping. Having these grips has allowed me, as a now homeschooling parent, to use less expensive pencils rather than continue to purchase the triangular shaped pencils we were buying at $3 per 8-pack. At first I was disappointed that they weren't sold individually but now I like having all six; there are more if one gets lost, more for siblings to use, a variety of colors, and enough to put on several sharpened pencils to have on hand to avoid removing the grip to sharpen the pencil in the middle of a lesson.

The description mentions that this gripper works for lefties and righties, and it does. However, it is important to put it on the right way. If you put it on upside down, it doesn't create the correct grip. Be sure to show your kids how it should be placed because most kids with grip problems wouldn't know it was putting their fingers in the "wrong" place. We keep some at home, some at Grandmas and some in kids' backpacks. They are easily transferable, and can be used on crayons or narrow markers for extra practice with appropriate grip. Way nicer than those triangles we had when we were kids!

Pros: Very good for proper finger placement. My children have a hard time holding the pencil correctly. That was one thing I found out when I started homeschooling them was that they didn't know how to hold it right. When they were in public I focused on helping with homework, not holding a pencil. But I digress... This is great for proper placement & doesn't slide around on the pencil. Once it's on, it's not going anywhere very easily.

Cons: It's very hard to get off the pencil. The material itself is flexible and doesn't slide on the pencil but that makes it difficult when you need to move it to sharpen the pencil.

The material isn't indestructible. There are a few tears on the back of a few from getting it on & off the pencil for sharpening.

It makes your fingers sweaty after writing for a few minutes. After one math lesson, fingers have to be wiped.

Overall this is great for finger placement - which really that's what they're for - but the material itself leaves a bit to be desired.

My daughter is in 2nd grade and holds her pencil very awkward and also has horrible handwriting. We have been battling this problem since kindergarten and nothing has worked, except for these. They are making a huge difference and even when she doesn't have one on her pencil she is much more aware of her grip and how she is supposed to hold the pencil. The only problem is all the other kids at school think they are cool and they keep getting stolen.

If you are working with a child who has established the habit of an improper pencil position, then these work well to start with. Those just beginning to write may not need the crossover (which holds their fingers in place) as they would not have established a habit of incorrect position. So they can go right to The Pencil Grip Ergonomic Writing Aid, Assorted Colors, 6 Count Polybag (TPG-11106) When the habit has been long established, these are wonderful aides. But children are happy when they graduate out of these and into ones without the crossovers. - Molded - Handwriting - Ot - Left-handed'

Router Table - router accessories, clamps

I used this with an all in one clamp I purchased at another store. I was cutting a 1/4 inch dado into 3/4 oak ply. I made test cuts with and without the plate using a 2 1/4 HP Bosch router. I found the cuts with the plate much easier. Installaton was a snap because there were predrilled holes for my router base. Simple product to use, and it make the job a lot easier. Please take into account that I am a beginning woodworker, those with or experience may not need this type of tool, but for me, this worked well, and with little setup. This makes the dado cuts so easy that I am going to forget using a dado blade in my tablesaw. I would highly recommend. Good luck. XRP 8-Inch by 9-Inch Router Plate, Black

I bought the router plate, the wide jaws and the 50" clamp a few months ago, for a particular project requiring lots of dadoes in MDF. The whole system works as advertised, and is well worth the modest cost. A couple of notes--I probably over-tightened the clamp, causing a piece of the cam-lever to break. It hasn't ruined the clamp, but I assume the overall clamping pressure has been diminished. Second, I used a cheap router bit and pushed it so hard that I melted the router plate. That said, I sent a simple email to the manufacturer inquiring about replacement parts (and explaining the problems, even admitting my responsibility), and in less than two hours, the company responded with an offer to replace the parts (no cost). That's customer service.

Great product, and a great company that stands behind its product.

I've used the 50" clamp for a year, and recently purchased the plates. They are a two piece plastic molding, and while the molding is a little rough the plastic is strong. This type of plastic slides ok but it binds up on the track a bit if the angle of the track isn't exactly normal to the surface. A bit of wax on the track and the plate really improved the sliding action. You could use a teflon or silicone spray but it could interfere with the future finish of the wood. With a bit of cleanup of the casting flash and a bit of wax lubrication of the track it works quite smoothly, and I turn to this system quite often even though I have a large cabinet saw with a 50" fence and a large router table. It is less physically demanding to cut large panels with this guide than with a cabinet saw.

There are other systems on the market that work better but they cost a lot. This one is inexpensive. Just make sure you have good blades/bits that track straight and wax the track, and it will work well.

the router and circular saw slide are hard to attach to the saw in particular. both do not slide on the rail with out forcing them which results in a bad cut or rout job. would not buy these again or recommend them to anyone.

First, none of the many pre-drilled holes fit my very common Porter Cable router. Second, although there is a hole for a screw to attach it to the T-track in the clamp, one is not provided. But thirdly and most frustratingly, the slot in the plastic for the clamp's track to go through is too tight so it gets stuck. I twice got my router halfway through the piece and simply could not budge it any farther. I threw the damn thing away, another $20 wasted.

I don't normally write reviews, but the router plate, and it's sibling, the saw plate are really worthless. The clamp itself works well, but the cheaply made plastic plates will not slide at all on the clamp bar. This could be weather dependent, since my garage is quite cool, but the plates should slide regardless of the temperature. If you take the plate out of the track (gliding only on a portion of the track) then it will slide, but what good is that since it would be easy to cut crooked, if you didn't keep pressure on the clamp side.

Believe me, using your saw or router directly against the clamp bar will work better than using one of these lousy plates. I paid $63.00 for these two plates (including shipping), and this was one of the worst things I've ever bought.

The router plate easily replaced the existing base on my Bosch router. The router plate worked smoothly and without incident on the Emerson router guide. The Emerson guide was a challenge to my patience, but that is a different review. I was apprehensive about using this tool, and did prepare by vacuuming and blowing down the track before and after use. I understand that other people had difficulty using this product but I did not. - Router Accessories - Router Table - Clamps'

Girls Magazines - ages 9 - 14, kids magazine

I received a subscription of this magazine for one year, and although it has its good points, there were enough bad points to cause me not to renew. The magazine has tons of beautiful, full color posters of beautiful horses and ponies. I really enjoyed the quizzes and short stories, as well as some of the features. But my problem with this magazine was that it seems to lean towards the well-to-do little girls riding Welsh Ponies that are trained to show every weekend. I haven't read an issue yet that didn't contain an article about 'winning lots of ribbons in shows.' There is no focus on the other side of horsemanship: caring for your horse, keeping up your stable, and health care. It is simply assumed the 'young riders' will hand their lovely ponies away to their grooms and saunter off to hang their ribbons on the walls of their bedrooms, which will, presumably, also have the mega posters featured in each issue of the magazine. Young Rider (1-year auto-renewal)

I love Young Rider magazine! Anything you ever wanted to know about horses and ponies is in this magazine. There are a lot of contests, usually about five to six per magazine, that you can participate in. The best part for me is that you don't have to be "18 or older to enter". I enter every contest I can, and Young Rider is my best opportunity for contests. Plus, the prizes are great, even if you don't own a horse! You can even send a letter and get a penpal! I don't have a horse, but I love this magazine anyway, and it's always good to know about horses in case you ever drive by one. You'll know to slow down instead of just zooming by. You can learn the names of parts of the horse and equipment, as well as getting introduced to books and authors who have written books about horses and ponies. The only bad part is waiting for the next issue to come in the mail. All in all, this is a great magazine that I encourage anyone who likes horses to get!

This magazine is excellent! Offers horse care tips whether you own a horse or not. Helpful riding tips. Answers horsey propblems. You can win neat horse stuff. For kids who ride and don't ride. For begginers all the way up to advanced. I LOVE THIS MAGAZINE. I can't wait for the next issue to arrive.

I'm thirteen and first got this magazine for my twelfth birthday. I did not own a horse at the time (still don't, looking for one and in a lease with my trainer and her 3 yr old pony), but instead took lessons as often as I could, and came out every time I could beg a ride to the barn. It was great! - at first. A lot of the exercises I couldn't necessarily do - lunging was hard enough to find the time to do let alone some of the other things they talked about. But they have good stories - predictable if anything and excellent posters (my walls bear testimony to this). Also some stoires are useful (like dealing with spooky horses, different types of illnesses). While this is PREDOMINANTLY addressed to ten year old competitive hunters with their own $50,000 pony, I am looking for one less than $3000, am competitive but not very, and hope to not get a pony - experience tells me so. And still some of the advice they give is great. And yes, THEY DO WESTERN and I've seen them do bareback once or twice. They also do quick 'seasonals' the latest issue was about twenty pages thicker all with equestrian Olympic events and pics.

So join it - almost something is bound to catch your eye with an article, posters are excellent and their classifieds are helpful although not specific to Maryland my state, it's more of a nationwide, and NOT so specific.

Overall, friendly and worth da money.

My 6 year old horse-loving daughter adores this magazine! She can read the articles and stories--they are well written and interesting and not too old for her, and she loves the games, quizzes and, of course, the pictures! She likes it so well we are going to get her a subscription of her own, as we have been having trouble finding it in the horse stores. It is wonderful someone makes a great magazine for the younger horse-lovers!

I love this horse magazine so much!I love the quizzes, great posters and great acticles about real people and their horse/pony.I take riding lessons but don't own a horse but still enjoy this magazine! This is a great magazine for kids ages 7-13 i think. Some people say that people over the age of 10 are too old for this magazine, but I toatally disagree! I am 11 years old and I love this magazine. This magazine I think is for any good horse lover!

I am now 11 and i dont read young rider anymore. The writing is to easy and usually has some mistakes. It is slanted toward little girls with their $20,000 ponies who go to shows every weekend. For older readers I suggest Horse Illustrated.

Young Rider is a great magazine for the beginner- the articles are very simple and easy to understand. They have great posters, but there's usually an article on their backside. There are ads lining almost every page; there isn't nearly as much content as there used to be. The average YR magazine has about 60 pages/9 articles, which usually have half-page pictures. I'd reccomend a magazine such as Practical Horseman or Horse Illustrated for anyone over 13. But, for a young horselover, it's a very helpful resource. There's several pages displaying readers' pictures and stories, along with a few step-by-step articles. Things like coloring and markings are discussed in detail, and many famous events (like the Rolex Kentucky) are reported on. For the completely new English and Western rider, it would make a great gift.

The Young Rider is the BEST horse magazine for kids. It encourages horse lovers to love horses even more. It has great tips on riding English and Western saddle. It publishes letters that readers sent in the magazine. Young Rider also advertizes horse camps, tack, and riding clubs. Every magazine has two HUGE posters. My room is full of them. It talks about horse problems and how to cure them, horse breeds, stories, quizez, comics, and LOTS LOTS LOTS MORE! It is good for kids 5-15 and is great even if you are not a horse lover. All my freinds love this magazine! I loke this magazine! WHY CAN'T YOU!!! You will NOT be disipointed. So what are you waiting for? SUBSCRIBE NOW!!! - Kids Magazine - Ages 9 - 14'

Craptacular - e-reader, gift card

I went to this web site to purchase two gift cards, one for my brother and another for my cousin. Easy enough right? Wrong! I went through the process of enterring all of the information; by the time I got to the end a pop-up would appear stating that I took to long and that my order wasn't processed. So, I went through the process again. Finally I received a confirmation number. Remember I had to buy 2 gift cards; I had the same problem with both purchases. Something told me to call AMEX and check on my purchases. To my surprise, 4 GIFT CARDS WERE PURCHASED!! I spoke with a representative who told me that -while on the phone- he canceled the extra gift cards. Today I checked my account, I saw 2 gift cards purchased on the 18th and 2 more cards purchased on the 21st. I love my family and didn't tell them, but I will be contacting my bank as well as AMEX for the second time. Take my advice and don't make the same mistake that I made. Filter - woodworking, respirator

I purchased this same respirator from a local big box home improvement store and one of the inhale diaphragms is already missing after only a few uses. They are of lower quality compared to my older AOSafety brand respirator I've used for years without issue until new replacement filter cartridges became harder to find which is why I purchased the 3M model.

I agree with the other poster regarding the problem of moisture dripping out through the exhale port. This was rarely if ever an issue with my older respirator because the exhale port was located on the bottom of the mask and not the front like on the 3M respirator.

I purchased this respirator for a big project working in the crawlspace of my home and while it is not a bad respirator overall, however I would not call it professional grade. I expected a better quality product from 3M and this one has been a disappointment. 3M 62023HA1-A Professional Multi-Purpose Respirator

Gets the job done fairly well for most chemicals and dust, but for certain VOCs, like those from lacquer thinner, you have to pull the straps almost painfully tight. The build-up of moisture inside the mask could be better. If you remember to wipe it out your fine, but every once in awhile you'll get a drip in your finish, and that sucks.

This mask fit well and I think did the job necessary. The reason I say I think and the reason I could not give it 5 stars is the lack of clear information in the packaging. An OSHA-type table of the particular fumes this mask protects against is included but the table used OSHA-type codes and no layman could understand it. I even tried to find a website to explain the codes but could not. Even so, I had faith that it was protecting against the paint fumes that I purchased the mask for. - Respirator - Filter - Woodworking - Respirators'

Mouse Pads - gaming mouse pad, wowpad

Ever since laser mice came out, I've ditched the mouse pads but found some surfaces that laser doesn't seem to work right. This mouse pad is nice and big and allows the mouse to glide easily. Also found that mouse works more accurately, something I didn't notice until I used the pad. It's also nice and thin so that it doesn't get in the way and I can store it sandwiched between the keyboard and screen of my labtop/notebook. Because of the thiness, it does tend to move a bit more when I rest my wrist on the pad, but no problems when I keep my wrist off the pad. It's rock solid if I place a corner under one of labtop's rubber feet.

I would recommend this mouse pad to anyone using labtop computers providing convenient storage, looking to improve mousing accuracy, lifetime hygenic use (this can be wiped down and no covers to come loose), or anyone interested in extending battert life of a laser mouse. WOW!PAD 8DGW55 8.5" Diameter Battery Saver Tech Mouse Pad

My assumption is that the anti-bacterial property of this pad is supposed to prevent the usual gunk build up. After several months use, it has not yet required any cleaning. I'm docking this a star as it is not as sticky as I had hoped, and does occasionally tend to slide.

Overall, it is a decent product that I can recommend in good conscience; should this current WOWpad expire for whatever reason, I'm liable to buy another.

I have this "Battery Saver" pad for about 8 months - however, I am now looking for a replacement as I found there were numbers of problems with this mouse pad.

1. The non-slip side is not what it claimed to be; Even I follow the instructions of weekly wipedown, it only stick for less then a day - I have to end up using my keyboard as this pad's paper weight in order not having it slip across the desk like a overside flat hockey puck.

2. The operation surface become very smooth and it worn down - in less then 3 months; In another word, I will not recommend this pad if you are a gamer as the response rate of this pad will drop rather quickly. Even in standard usage web surfing was becoming an issue.

3. But its biggest flaw came from its "battery saving feature"; My laser mouse usually have to replace the NiMH batteries every 4 months in normal everyday use. However, after replacing my NiMH twice in first 3 months of using this pad, I switched to normal batteries and I am my 2nd set already.

So IMHO - save your money and get something else.

I have a very small slide out on my keyboard tray for a mouse. its just enough room to mouse on. most gamers would hate it, I happen to love it. I dont need a huge desk to mouse on. this mouse pad is the only one that lets me slide the tray in as it folds in due to it being so thin. It also fits that mouse tray absolutely perfect. Amazing product. I purchased one 4 years ago it finally wore out. the surface got smooth and attracted tons of dirt. but that was after 4 years of hard abuse. and it was worth every single penny.

BUY this if you love thin mouse pads. its very very slippery though. if you need grip. this wont work. It grips it's self to the surface its on real well but if your desk is on a slant it will slide off :)

stay away from fellowes they are horrible.

I tried cheeper thin mousepads and they sucked. This is GOLD! They have larger ones for you hardcore gamers:) best mouse pad there is.

While I tend to read reviews before buying a product like this, I rarely write them as I never seem to find the time. But in this case, I decided to make the time. I am a designer by profession and spend 50-60 hours a week on my computer. I replaced my gel wrist mouse pad with this one shortly after I got my new computer. I wanted something that would allow my optical mouse to track better than on my existing pad, and something that would give some protection to the top of my desk. I wanted something thin, secure but moveable, and something that was not visually distracting. This WowPad meets all those requirements. I have not experienced any of the problems I had read in other reviews before purchasing: loss of adhesion to the desk top, wearing down of the tracking surface, or even battery loss. Quite the opposite: It sticks to my desk which has a very smooth finish, but I can still peel it up and move it if needed. Plus the surface has maintained its tracking. Routine cleaning is simple and not bothersome. And my batteries are lasting longer. I have had such good results that I plan on replacing the mouse pads on my other two workstations. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is considering it. And honestly: for the low cost, why not give it a try!

Pros: this cool circular mousepad is just the right size for everyday mousing. Supposedly, the light gray color will extend the life of the batteries in your wireless mouse. While I imagine that this claim is true, I wonder how much of an issue battery life actually is with wireless mice. The last wireless mouse that I had went many months, or possibly a year or more in between battery changes, and I did not have anything special in the way of a mousepad.

It is very flat and thin, with no discernible odor. There is a slight gridlike texture on the top, while the bottom is slightly tacky. While it does not actually glue itself to my desk, I do not find that it slides around, either. I like the fact that the mousepad is totally cleanable, top and bottom, with regular detergents, and if the bottom loses its grip, it can be cleaned to be restored.

Cons: perhaps slightly more expensive than other mouse pads, and the whitish gray color is quite boring.

*********************

Update:

After a couple of months of use, I have found the backing for the pad to have become slippery, as others have reported. I followed the directions on the packaging, cleaning it with detergent, but that did not restore the original tackiness. I find the slipping to be quite annoying, and have discarded it. - Mouse Pads - Wowpad - Mousepads - Gaming Mouse Pad'

Iphone4 Case - iphone4 case, iphone 4

I waited anxiously for Otterbox to release this case and ordered mine within minutes of receiving the "Defender Released" e-mail. I received the case on Friday and I must admit, it did not disappoint.

First impressions: The case is of great quality and a lot of detail went into making it compatible with all the OEM "accessories". The holster is among the best I've seen for a phone of this size and works perfectly with the case.

After carrying it for two days (and this is already my 3rd iPhone 4 case - I am rough on my phones): The case is without a doubt the most durable I've seen for the iPhone 4 and lives up to the reputation that Otterbox has built over the years.

Cons: The case does add considerable bulk to the phone and may not be perfect for pocket carriers. It does include a holster which works great and can rotate for vertical or parallel carrying of the phone.

Miscellaneous: I have no complaints really, but I am left to wonder if the silicone "flaps" that cover the earphone and USB plug-ins could have been a little more user-friendly. Sometimes they are frustrating to get back into their proper "closed" position.

Edited one month after using: I am still extremely happy with the case. I have dropped my phones a few times already and though the case is starting to show signs the abuse I have provided it the phone still looks pristine! I opened up the case this morning to clean the phone etc and to my surprise there wasn't much to clean. With cases I've owned in the past I would have a forest of lint, dust etc. that would trap itself between the case and the phone. The Otterbox has minimized that debris!

I am uploading several photos showing the difference between a "bare" iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4 in the Defender case so everyone can get an idea of how much "protection" and in turn "bulk" this case adds to the phone.

Edited to add: Amazon removed my pictures when the placed the phone back in a "pre-order" status, I will re-upload them again once they allow. I'm not sure why they state "pre-order" when it should state "Back-ordered, will deliver in xx to xx weeks", but I digress. OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 4 (White/Purple, Fits AT&T iPhone)

Otterbox defender for my iPhone 3Gs was the best thing I ever did for that phone! It fell into and was completely submerged in a 5 gallon pot of BBQ sauce - and rinsed off with the sprayer in the sink. Phone continued to operate flawlessly!

As soon as I bought iPhone 4 - I immediately ordered an otterbox case for it. It took over a month to arrive and when it finally did - I could immediately tell it did not offer the same amount of protection as the Otterbox for the 3Gs.

I'm constantly fighting the rubber covering -- if I pull it out of my pocket I have to push it back into place all the way around the phone.

The screen protector is better -- the bubbles are gone from the previous version. I like that.

The flaps that cover the charger port and headphone jack suck! They never stay in place and to get them to lock down is a pain. Debris can easily infiltrate into the case through these openings. I find that I have to take the phone completely out of the case and clean the phone and the case more often than I ever did with the other phone/otterbox.

Maybe they were just in a hurry to get a case that would fit the quick arrival of iPhone4. I hope the case is revamped and the thought is completed. I really need and want the kind of protection and rugged durability that the other case provided for 3Gs.

Regardless of what I hate about this case, it's still the BEST case that you can put on the new iPhone 4 if you're hard on your phone. Just wish it was better...

**** 02/12 update: I bought an AT&T case to get one fast at a discount and it works fine until the price drops on the universal case. The Verizon silent mode button is partially covered so if you use silent mode a lot and have big fingers, you might want to wait or buy from the manufacturer. The headphone jack doesn't align quite right with my Verizon phone, but just open the silicone port. And now this is a genuine five star review. I really like this case. It is sturdy and protective, looks stylish, feels comfortably grippy and it was easy to install the phone. Box directions are minimal but Otterbox has a simple video that takes you through it. *****

I just called Otterbox and a very nice lady in Customer Service says they have a universal design ready to fit both AT&T and Verizon phones, to be released 02/10/11. I suppose Amazon will have these as well. Hope they do all the same colors.

Important to know because the Verizon iPhone has some ports and controls in a slightly different place than its AT&T sister and this case would not fit both phones.

Just thought you should know. Glad I did some research before I bought this one. Yes, I know this isn't a real review but not everyone reads comments. At least I'm not one of those tiresome people who posts a one star review because something went wrong with the shipping.

Because you WILL drop your phone. Thats the slogan I would use if I was Otterbox. You will drop it, many times. It amazes me how many people think they are above dropping their phone. The iphone4 is a slippery devil and you must protect it. When I first saw the case in an AT&T store I knew that someone had finally got it right. However, at 50 bucks, I knew I could get it cheaper online (and did). The case is very attractive (the white is a bit more of a greyish white and I honestly think it improves the appearance of my already attractive Iphone 4. All the buttons work perfectly (I swear I think its more responsive now and it keeps debris and dust outta all the ports.

If you are willing to spend 10 bucks on a case, then you should be willing to spend more to truly protect your phone. This is the only solution that i've seen to keeping your expensive Iphone, clean, safe, and functioning at all times. The case does add size to the phone though and with the holster it adds a lot of bulk, but its not bad. This is a smart purchase, trust me. - Iphone4 Case - Otterbox Defender - Otterbox - Iphone 4'

Led Backlight - led, 3d

I've owned this television for a few weeks now, and I've been putting it through a battery of tests using a variety of different sources and room lighting conditions. To get right to the point, I am returning it -- it will be picked up this week -- and waiting for either the UNC8000 precision dimming edge lit led set, or perhaps either the XBR-HX900 or XBR-LX900 from Sony. The C7000 is a good TV. It compares favorably -- if not signficantly so -- to any of the edge lit led lcd's that Samsung released in 2009. However, it doesn't hold a candle to the UNB8500 that was released late in 2009. It is also outperformed by Vizio's latest (552), the Sony XBR 8, and even LG's LH 90 gives it a run for it's money and outperforms it in a few important areas. Essentially the performance of the C7000 is either matched or exceeded by multiple televisions that cost significantly less. If you are not a videophile and do not concentrate on picture performance in a completely darkened room, I'm sure this television will suit you just fine. However, if you are a videophile and/or picture performance in a completely darkened room and accurate reproduction of theater film viewing is very important to you, this television is not for you. This TV exhibits many of the same problems that plagued Samsung's 2009 series of edge lit led's -- namely, a lot of light shining through from the corners, top and bottom, and sides of the picture while viewing in a darkened room -- and does not perform the way you would hope for a television that costs this much. Samsung did improve upon the fluctuating back light problems of last years edge lit led's. This television does not have a fluctuating back light problem at all. However, I must come back to the issue of light shining through from the edges of the screen. It's a big concern for anybody who wants to reproduce a natural theater experience and view films the way they were meant to be seen. You simply cannot recreate that experience with this television. When you view a film -- or any other content -- in a completely darkened room, it is impossible not to notice the light shining in from the edges. That is a huge problem for a lot of us. I will say that when you are viewing a film in a bright room, this television is an outstanding performer. It is also an excellent performer for viewing sporting events, animated features, and other lively bright content in a brightly lit room. Of course, most of us do not wish to pay $3,300 to only be completely happy with our televisions when we are watching them in a brightly lit room. The light shining in from the edges also creates the potential to create a lot of problems with 3D viewing once we have sufficient 3D content available. Imagine trying to immerse yourself in a 3D viewing experience and not be able to focus on the 3D atmosphere due to the fact that there is light shining into the viewing area. I just don't see it working. It seems that it would be a major obstacle in viewing 3D content. Imagine going to see Avatar in 3D or IMAX 3D and having light shining into all of the edges of the film. There's just no way that it wouldn't distract you and take away from your viewing experience. I foresee this being a huge problem for 3D viewing once we have the content. I will discuss some of the positives of this television because I don't want anyone to think it's a bad television. I would have really given it 2.5 starts out of 5 but Amazon doesn't allow for a half star so I went with 3 because the positives probably do outweigh the negatives on this TV. The color accuracy is what we have all came to expect from Samsung, which is to say it's flawless. The black level is outstanding -- if not up to par with the local dimming led sets such as the 8500 and the XBR8, or the Pioneer Kuro 151 plasma -- and does not have the fluctuating backlight problem. The black level is definitely better than last years edge lit led sets. The video processing and motion resolution is beyond reproach. It appears that this particular feature is probably comparable the 8500, which is the only lcd in history to be able to resolve all 1080 moving lines. It will be interesting to see if this television can do that once the reviews come out and the video processing has been tested. This television handles 24fps content perfectly, and reproduces the proper cadence of film based content. It is definitely a good television, it just has some major flaws, and is outperformed by a few sets that cost over $1,000 less. The potential for 3D viewing problems definitely exists, and Samsung needs to find a way to cure the problem of having light shine in from the edges of the screen. Samsung UN55C7000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)

I am simple. Simple tastes. Simple pleasures. Simple needs. I will research a major purchase enough to know what will stick around for 5 to 10 years depending on how much technology changes, look at my budget, and fire away with the best purchase I can make.

That being said, my requirement was 1080p, 240Hz, 55" with a Blue Ray player. 3D didn't matter to me at the time, but when I saw the deal for this TV, which included 3D, the Blue Ray (with 3D) and the glasses and the (How to Train Your Dragon) movie for a cheaper price than what I was pricing just the TVs for in previous weeks, I snapped it up.

The results, pure and simple, are stunning. We watched Train Your Dragon with the 3D glasses and were quite frankly blown away.

Yes, in this day and age, everyone wants to be the expert of what they know and poo-poo anything that is not professional quality, not top-of-the-line whatever and will write extensively about it...and this is actually a good thing for sure. But to me, does the technology deliver? Absolutely! Was I blown to the back of my seat. Absolutely. Was the quality of the picture great? Absolutely. Will 99.98% of purchasers like this product? No. They will LOVE it. The rest can write 10,000 words about how and why spending the extra money will prove to be the better choice for exactly 6 weeks until the next more-awesome thing comes along to trump today's tech.

Simply stated...you want something that is great and will last for years? Come get it. It's here, it's cheap enough to say yes, and you will not regret the purchase if your life has more to do with just being entertained with what you have instead of always pondering what you could have.

There will always be Ferrari (and the like), but somehow I think the rest of us simply enjoy a really well built, reliable, affordable car with a good sound system that will last.

This is that purchase. Let the Porsche and Ferrari owners duke it out over track times and performance that most likely they will never experience from day-to-day anyway. And if you do like performance above all else...be prepared to pay for the experience that comes with it. This works plenty for my 1 to 2 hours viewing experience per day. - 1080p - Samsung Led - 3d - Led'

Coleman Portable Grill - barbecue, camping

We purchased this Road Trip after having a horrible experience with a grill from Cabelas. That grill had the lava rocks that moved every time you moved the grill and besides that the legs fell off. We were looking for something that would have fold under legs and no rocks. The Road Trip saved our camping days. We purchased a bag for it, keep it stored in the belly of the camper and with putting water in the tray below the burners, it is very very easy to clean up. You can place this on the picnic table to cook on or use the fold down legs. We have also discovered that this is the best way to cook grilled onions and potatoes or pork chops or chicken, etc on the griddle. Very very convenient and easy clean up. We both rate this a 5 stars. Great job, Coleman. Signed happy camper, Janet Becker Coleman 9941-768 Road Trip Grill (Blue)

This truly is the perfect grill for the RV. Before buying, I researched everything from the Weber Q (good, not perfect), to the Themos Grill2Go (not really a grill).

Before it came, I was thinking that my high expectations from all these glowing reviews would cause me to not like it as much, but it's even better than some of these reviews! It's very portable, and folds up to a small size. And cooking on it is very easy, as well as just as important, clean up. If you get one, I recommend you also order a second grill grate to replace the griddle sometimes. (It comes with 1 of each). Griddle is great for eggs, grilling onions, etc., but it's nice to have the maximum space to grill hamburgers and hotdogs for the parties.

Finally, this blue model is the best of the three Coleman Road Trip Grills, too. Even though there are some with additional letters, this one has heavier duty grates than the other two, and a better stand system (in my opinion).

This grill replaced our old gas grill at home. In four years I've went through 4 grills to rust that occurs naturally here, just by a metal object being outside. I wanted a solution to finally eliminate that problem. This fits the bill with the fold up capability, and the storage bag to keep it fresh. You're still cooking over an open flame with the grill plate. It comes with a griddle and a grill, each covering half of the cooking area, and I've obtained a 20-lb tank attachment, and an extra grill, for the big jobs. Try this feature out: the grill, griddle, and drip trays are washable in the dishwasher.... I can't say that about my old grills.

Used it first on a camping trip. Then, after we got back, cooked breakfast outdoors on a cold Wisconsin morning. This baby did what it's supposed to, and I couldn't be happier. I got an extra griddle surface and two stove grates, so keep that in mind. I don't think the grill is complete as sold, you do need the extra surfaces. At least, I did.Best performance was a full breakfast on a cold Wisconsin morning, near freezing, wind blowing. I cooked bacon, hashbrowns, and scrambled a dozen eggs in a large skillet. Then I kept the pancakes coming while we started eating. Griddles were being exchanged for stove grates, and back again. Under tough, heat-stealing conditions everything cooked fast. I did up about 20 strips of bacon, 9 hash brown patties, and the dozen eggs with ease. Then the pancakes came off quickly and smoothly as an added breakfast bonus. You try scrambling a dozen eggs at once, temperature near freezing, wind blowing, huge skillet, on any other camp stove. If you can, let me know.

I cannot say enough about this product. It is absolutely great for tailgating or any other activity where you want a grill on the go. During this past football season, we on average cooked 50-75 bratwursts and hotdogs. The grill holds about 30 at one time, so in no time you can make sure to get everyone fed. The grill is reliable, easy to set-up and breakdown, and heats up immediately. The electric start is also a huge bonus, especially in windy situations.Couple of notes: The grill comes standard with a grill and a griddle, but if you are into serious grilling then I recommend you can purchase a separate grill to replace the griddle for more grilling area. Second, Coleman sells a carrying/rolling case which is a must have for tailgating/camping. The case lets you pack everything into a small compact set and keeps your car clean when transporting. Finally, if you are seriously into grilling on the go purchase a one-gallon gas tank, the grill is highly efficient and you will get a significant amount of use out of the smaller tank.

I bought the Coleman RoadTrip Grill last summer to replace my 20-year old portable CharBroil gas grill. I spent quite a bit of time researching both the Coleman grill and the CharBroil/Thermos Grill2Go. I chose the Coleman because of it's versatility. I purchased the optional carrying case, stove grate, and additional grill section to go along with the grill section and griddle section that came with the unit. It's easy to light and stays lit on windy days. Cleanup is a breeze since almost every surface is porcelain enamel or non-stick coated. I use it almost exclusively for tailgating and get lots of questions about it at the stadium. One of the best purchases I have ever made.

I had seen the road trip grill once at a campground and knew I wanted one. I like it because it has burners like your home stove instead of one large traditional BBQ grill. Plus, the little stand works is great, I don't need an extra table anymore.

We picked this one up used, but it was like new. This grill has been the best grill I've had. We used to use those portable little grills that would only cook about 6 burgers. The burner would burn out after one camping season.

It works great. Putting water in the tray can be a bit of a pain, but cleaning it is a snap that way. I purchased a stove grate so I can use frying pans or boil water. I've replaced both my BBQ grill and cook stove in my motorhome with this one grill. Really! I also recently purchased another griddle so I can cook a whole pancake and bacon breakfast for 5 people at once. (bacon one side and pancakes on the other)

I'm really impressed with this grill. Its portable, cooks well and saves my space. (I don't carry a stove or extra table anymore) If your looking for a new grill, this is the one. You can use it at home too! - Camping - Grill - Barbecue - Coleman Grill'

Expandable Multi-handset - android, android tablet

Gone are the days of needing phone wires throughout your house. I had one old cordless phone as well as several corded phones around the house and out in my shop, all of them wired to the wall. I decided to upgrade to this system. It was a good move.

The set up was simple. An hour with the directions to get all my settings the way I wanted them and punch in all my stored numbers and I was in business. Now the only wired connection is to the base unit which sits on my desk. I can put the others handsets anywhere.

The sound clarity is fantastic and equal to any corded phone. The range is way beyond what I need, so even the phone out in my shop works great. The display is easy to read and the menu very intuitive even if you don't have the owners manual handy. I really like the intercom feature where you can transfer a call to someone else in the house without having to yell for them to pick up the phone. It will ring what ever handset you want. I also like the feature that lets you silence the ringer according to a preset schedule, so now the phone in my bedroom won't ring between 8pm and 8am. I can still hear the one in the kitchen ring and don't need to get blasted out of my sleep by the one by my bed. Caller ID shows up on all the handsets and you can retrieve messages from any handset. Once you store a name and number it is available on all handsets. Very cool. You can also block any callers that you don't want to hear from again or any callers without caller ID (which is most of the telemarketers)

The only thing I don't like (or need) is the voice that announces the callers ID. It's a mechanical sounding voice and rarely pronounces the names right. Fortunately this is an option that's easy to switch off on any or all of the handsets and the base unit.

I am very happy with this purchase and wish I had done it years ago. You can't go wrong with this system. Panasonic KX-TG6644B DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with 4-Handsets

I work in a warehouse and am constantly on the move. I bend and lean a lot and having a phone in my pocket isn't always ideal but I get calls often enough I am constantly running back to my desk to grab the phone or try and figure out where I laid it down. I love this phone set! It looks nice in person. The different ringers are great!

The answering machine is easy to program and you can leave it so that it doesn't pick up until the 7th ring, which is great for me.

The voice announcing of callers with ID is entertaining as it gets. The pronunciations are sometimes down right hysterical...and some days I just really need a silly and stupid thing to laugh at like that to keep from losing it.

I strategically placed the extensions in the places I am most likely to be at or near when the phone always choses to ring and they all have beautiful clearity and are small enough not to take up much space (like the size of a standard 8oz cup).

You can put a belt clip on each handset. AND the best part...you can charge this front or backwards! This is the first cordless I've had that you didn't have to put in exactly "as pictured". Awesome feature!

You can adjust the ringer tone and volume for each handset which is nice since I placed one of the extensions in someone elses office (yes it makes sense to be there but didn't want it to be annoying). You can even mute one or all handsets...there are a lot of volume features!

I could go on and on about how much I like this phone versus my old cordless but I won't. I'll just leave it at HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This cordless phone and answerer are new for 2011 and the performance is outstanding.

You can buy this phone/answerer in five configurations: KX-TG6632B (two cordless phones and answerer), KX-TG6633B (three cordless phones and answerer), KX-TG6643B (three cordless phones and answerer WITH keypad), KX-TG6644B (four cordless phones and answerer WITH keypad), KX-TG6645B (five cordless phones and answerer WITH keypad). All have the same handsets and the answerer differs only in that one comes with and the other without a keypad. The features and performance remain the same.

Pluses:

Near perfect display: Readable with no back-light and with the back-light on (hit any key) there is a brilliant white background with purple text using very large characters. This is the best display I've ever seen. The fonts are near perfect and the text is huge!

Range - outstanding: Past cordless phones have proven unreliable just outside my garage door. I had perfect reception there and decided to experiment. My driveway is 250 feet long and I had perfect reception 250 feet from my house! Stunning!

Voice quality - outstanding (yet I do wish I could turn the volume up just a bit more from its highest setting). Also there is no hiss or other audio anomalies.

Battery life: the batteries are standard NIMH AAA which are easily replaced. After a few days the meter shows no discharge. I don't doubt you'll have at least 11 days of stand-by as quoted in Panasonic's specifications.

Programming: Reasonably easy although I had to consult the manual a few times. Program one phone and the rest automatically update. That is a very nice feature. Even if you don't wish to do any programming the default settings are wisely chosen.

Comfort: These phones are very light weight but comfortable if you like to cradle the phone between your ear and shoulder. A belt clip is included.

No interference: The dect standard (1.9 GHZ) is a new frequency that does not interfere or share the same spectrum with past cordless phones or other wireless devices like routers. The "plus" designation is simply Panasonic marketing - meaning this is the second generation of Panasonic DECT phones.

Tone control: Three settings - normal, high frequency boost and low frequency boost.

Power outages: Keep one handset in the base and the system will function for about two hours during a power outage. The handset powers the base in this case.

Features: Too many to list but every feature offered seems to provide a great deal of flexibility. For example - talking caller ID can be turned on or off at either the answerer or handset respectively. Three groups of favorite numbers are offered so three people can have separate lists and each group can be given a unique name.

Minuses:

Volume: The ringer, speaker phone and handset are all just a bit low on volume, at least, to my ear. At their highest settings I find the volume acceptable but I wish they all could go a bit louder.

Answerer: Limited and rather basic. You can answer the phone there only by hitting the speaker phone button. You can't dial out except for three buttons which you can program. More flexibility is offered on the TG6643B which has a keypad but it still has no hardwired handset. You can only record or check your announcement at a handset but you can play back or erase messages at the answerer.

Conclusion:

This is a near perfect cordless phone offering clarity, great range, no interference with existing cordless appliances, a wonderful display and a number of other features. It shows the maturity of the technology brought to us in 2011

Overall I highly recommend this phone. I'd strongly recommend you purchase one more handset than you think you'll need given the low cost of an additional handset when purchasing a package. Purchasing separate handsets at a later date is much more costly.

Keep in mind if it does not say dect PLUS - you are looking at an older model Panasonic ---- many of which are still offered for sale on Amazon

BEST DEAL: As of May, 2011 the five handset version with answerer is only $10.00 more than the three handset version. The four handset version is priced higher than either of those. Go figure. Having an extra handset or two you'll never regret! - Android Tablet - 2-line Cordless Phone - Tablet - Android'
