Kindle Reading Lights

I recently purchased the new M-Edge e-Luminator book light, even though there was nothing wrong with my older version. Thank goodness I still have my older book light, because the new one is quickly becoming an annoyance. The old light has a slide on and off switch and the new light has a recessed button on the light that you touch to turn on, with 3 different light strengths. When you want to turn the light off, you must touch it all 3 times and then hold it down the fourth time and the light will turn off. Unfortunately though, the light switch is so sensitive that it will turn on even if you don't touch the on button. After the book light does this to you about 30 or 40 times, you might find yourself annoyed and ready to go back to the older, slide switch on/off book light like me. I would recommend waiting to purchase until they have the 'bugs' worked out. M-Edge e-Luminator Kindle Booklight, Graphite (Compatible Only with 2nd and Latest Generation M-Edge Kindle Covers)

After many failed attempts at finding just the right light, I finally found it. This little light is amazing! It fits perfectly in my Kindle cover, has three different light settings, is adjustable and fits nicely in the cover when the cover is closed. Just what I was looking for!

The light works perfectly and fits perfectly into the M-Edge Trip Kindle Jacket I purchase. Although the case is not meant to have the light permanently attached like some other jackets which enclose the light within - I find the light itself takes up very little space so I simply fold it down an keep it with me day or night. As for how well it illuminate the kindle it does the job well and with its three different light levels you should have no problems reading anywhere any time.

On a side note: I'm from Toronto Canada and had to purchase the light from the ".com/USA" site not the ".ca" so it cost me a little extra but I find it was well worth it for the convince of the lights size compared to the choices that where available on other canadian sites.

I knew my husband would be getting me a Kindle 3 for Mother's Day, so I purchased M-Edge Latitude Kindle Jacket (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle), Red w/ Blackand the M-Edge e-Luminator Kindle Booklight, White (Compatible Only with 2nd and Latest Generation M-Edge Kindle Covers) (the older version of this book light) for my Kindle 2, because I planned to give that to my daughter. I purchased the M-Edge Latitude Kindle Jacket, Red (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle) and this light for the new Kindle 3. I wanted the graphite light to match the graphite Kindle. If I'd realized then that this light was quite a bit different from the old light, I never would have purchased it.

Before Mother's Day, I used the Kindle 2 with the M-Edge e-Luminator Kindle Booklight, White (Compatible Only with 2nd and Latest Generation M-Edge Kindle Covers) for a few weeks. It was not perfect--a little bulky, maybe--but it worked well, and was a huge improvement over using an ordinary booklight that I couldn't attach to the Kindle or the case. It was bright enough and easy to position it so that there was enough light to illuminate the page.

I've tried using this new light for a few weeks now and have found it to be useless. As other reviews have mentioned, the on/off switch is touchy and annoying. I end up having to touch it several times to get it to turn on or off when I want it to, and yet, I find myself accidentally turning it on or off when I don't mean to.

Also as mentioned in other reviews, this new light is not bright enough. It's useless for reading in a very dark room. I read in bed at night while my husband is sleeping, so I need a light bright enough to illuminate the whole Kindle. Even in dim lighting, though, this light is dim enough that it makes no difference.

Another issue that I've had with this light is that the bendable part of the light is too short. The base of the light (where the AAA battery goes is less bulky than the old light, but to make up for this, it's also taller, so the bendable part of the light ends up being further away from the Kindle. When you combine the dimmer light with the shorter bendable thing, you cannot position this light to illuminate more than maybe the first few lines of the Kindle page. You *can* turn it so that the light is directly above the side of the Kindle instead of the top, but then you cannot open the case to *read* the Kindle. Even if you could, the light is so dim that it still isn't worth trying to find a workaround for that.

This light is a very poor design. I've already given the older light and case to my daughter with the Kindle 2, and I can't find the old version to buy. Amazon is out and so is every other online store I've checked. I'm stuck using my old book light that I have to either hold or set next to the Kindle (and it constantly falls over). At least it lights up the page and I can read.

I'm very disappointed in this light. I feel it was a complete waste of money. I also feel that the case was a waste of money, too, since I can't use it with this book light. I tried the old light with the new case for the Kindle 3 and it works just fine, so I'd be happy if I could find one to buy.'

Another Classic

Duke is back and is as fun as ever. The guns are big and the aliens are cool. The graphics are hit and miss, but the levels have lots of secret areas to explore. Some characters look better then others, but the weapon effects are cool for a playstaion game. The levels are fun and well designed with fun missions like saving babes and hunting down lots of bad guys. Oh ya, and Duke is the man! Nuff said. Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes

I love action shooters. Games that are all about hand/eye coordination and quick reflexes. This game totally delivers on that premise and I wish there were more like it.From a technology and graphics standpoint the title is just OK. But the gameplay, cinematics/story, puzzles/secrets and weapons are all top notch and well worth the price of admission to play this game.I've seen some reviews that compare the game to Tomb Raider and that is very misleading. This is an action-shooter, not an exploration game.I highly recommend this game. It will hold me over til I can get a Playstation2:)

I agree with the previous comments on this new release. There are far fewer enemies and it doesn't require any skill to bump them off. You can see them from a mile away and can pop them very easily. A strategy guide, i.e., walkthru, is definitely helpful. Before I received the walk-thru, I gave up and quit Level 2 after trying for hours to complete the last objective (today I found the walkthru--available at: ...). There are some features that I like which are improved from the Time To Kill game: 1. There are new, cool, destructive weapons. 2. The select option to pick weapons, objects, communications, 3. The cheat menu on screen (although, there is no "all objects cheat").Overall, it's ok to rent and play, but, I wouldn't pay ... to buy it.

More Duke action with new Dukisms and Duke type levels. EXACT same setup/game-play as "Time to Kill". TTK is my favorite psx game, so I was really excited to get "Land of the Babes." However, I was less than overwhelmed. The graphics and motion in the game aren't quite as good as in TTK. The bad guys all look plain goofy and stupid, and also aren't as fun to kill as it takes no skill to do them in; just a duke load of ammo! And that's another problem with the game...you go through ammo way to quickly, as it takes 5-7 shots with the shotgun just to bring a creep down. and like I said, there's no more hiding behind corners, sneeking up, or strafing...now it's just standing there and hoping that the bad guys drop before you do (or at least you run out of ammo). But in the end, if you are a huge Duke Nukem fan like myself, than this is definitely one to get your mits on. Buy this game and "Come get some!"

I think to play this game, that a strategy guide would be helpful, like one you can purchase with Amazon.com. Also the use of cheat codes will help get through the levels without running out of ammo and getting bumped off too soon. I'll admit that the lack of enemies at certain levels is quite boring. Also the "nukers" vocabulary could of been expanded a lot more. All in all, it is fun in spots and I am not too disappointed with the game. It is a lot more fun than " Time to Kill". A good buy, but a strat guide and codes should make you enjoy the game more, at least it can't hurt!

After waiting since April (the original release date!) for this game to come out, all I can say is: What a disappointment! If you thought Time to Kill looked unpolished, wait till you see this game! The graphics are spotty, there are barely any enemies, and it seems that more than two or three animated objects on the screen at once causes the framerate to creep down close to zero. Worst of all, Duke now speaks as if he's sitting on the john; his previously humorous quips are now ruined by a whiney, strained voice. All in all, a VERY disappointing effort to continue the series; this is a real shame, as I was formerly a huge Duke fan. Shame on Infogrames and everyone else involved for this sorry attempt.

Duke Nukem - Land Of The Babes is the best of the three Duke games on Playstation, but that is not saying much considering how bad the other two were. The pace of this is off and on, sometimes there are no enemies, sometimes there are many enemies. Using the many guns in the game is fun, sniping is extra cool, especially when you pop the baddies head off. The game is very hard however, and you will need a strategy guide to finish it. About 2/3 of the way through the first level is where the game gets real hard, real fast. Dukes one-liners may have been funny back in '95 with the original Duke 3D but now they have been used so much in the many different Duke games that they simply aren't funny anymore. The graphics lack polish, and aren't much better than the other Duke games. Overall this game SCREAMS mediocre. This would be a fun rental, just be sure to look up a strategy guide on the 'net first, because it's pretty much impossible without one. I would suggest buying the guide from Amazon but if you only rent it then there is really no point to buying a full price guide when you can find one on the 'net for free.'

Bluetooth Sports Headset - wireless headphones, jaybird

I bought these for my girlfriend, as her old headphones were pretty much dead. She has an iTouch and does quite a bit of running. Her old headphones were wired, in-ear, headband style. She liked the headband style, but didn't like the in-ear. Sweat would get constantly get into them and short out the ear pieces, not to mention that the in-ear design would hurt her ears.

After looking around, these were one of two i was considering (the other was wired). I decided I wanted to get her a wireless set, as the iTouch has Bluetooth. After about 3 months of use, I'm glad I got her these. She loves the wireless, and they are so much more comfortable than the in ear. I've used them once or twice, and I have to say that the sound is amazing (FYI - I like my music as much as the next guy, but I'm no audiophile). Also, the battery life on these is awesome. She really doesn't charge them at all, just turns them off when not in use.

Her only problems with them are that the foam ear pieces get sweaty (which according to her isn't really an issue, just an observation), and although they stay in place while running, have a tendency to move or even fall off when doing weights, especially on the bench. However, according to her these 'issues' are written off by how much she loves them. One other thing that I was disappointed about: I wanted a pouch for these so that they wouldn't get ruined in her gym bag, and I was a little disappointed that I had to purchase it separately.

So, in conclusion:

Pros:

- Comfortable

- Great Sound

- Secure (while running)

Cons:

- Sweaty ear pieces

- Tendency to fall off while lifting weights

- Doesn't come with a pouch (purchased separately)

Overall, we are both very satisfied with this. I'll probably be getting myself a pair as well! As a user of these, my girlfriend is very happy, and it solves all the problems she had with her old set. As a purchaser, I'm glad that the money was well spent. :-) JayBird Sportsband Bluetooth Headphones (Midnight Black)

I had been waiting to buy a bluetooth headphone until Apple rectified their sad lack of full functionality support of Next/Previous track selection. That functionality was added in the iOS 4.1 update.

The JayBird is exactly as advertised. It fits snuggly and has pretty good sound. Certainly an improvement on the OEM earphones that come with your iPhone/iPod. Connecting to my iPhone was simple and easy. It even allows you to connect to two items, like an mp3 player and a desktop computer.

It's looks are attractive and definitely garner positive comments from friends and strangers.

The buttons are easy to use once you remember which one s are which.

There are even a few color options from Amazon with more colorful options available from the JayBird site.

I would highly recommend these headphones for anyone looking for full functioning, clear quality sound bluetooth headphones.

After several months of daily use, the SB1B will not hold more than a 30 minute charge. Contacted Customer Service - advised to complete a Warranty Exchange Request - done. After several more emails and calls I received the RMA . Sent the failed SB1B to the specified address via USPS Priority Mail Box November 9 2010.(Arizona to Utah) - Several requests for exchange status w/o reply have been made (so much for the 24 hour reply policy) As of November 18 2010 no reply from JayBird.

I purchased these headphones to replace another pair of stereo bluetooth headphones that had finally started to show their wear-and-tear after two years of use.

My main use for the headphones is while running on a treadmill for 90 minutes every morning. Needless to say, a healthy amount of sweat is generated in this process. I felt that a headset with a lifetime warranty against sweat was the ticket.

I have no complaints about the sound or the feel of the headphones. They paired up to my iPod touch and my HTC Touch Pro 2 just fine. I had no issues with phone calls either.

The first pair lasted two weeks before they just stopped working. Sent them back to Amazon. Next pair lasted 20 minutes before the volume controls went all haywire and just started beeping endlessly. Sent them back to Amazon. The third pair lasted 45 minutes before they went crazy like the 2nd pair did.

I'm not trying a fourth pair - the third pair was enough for me. For the record, the return experience at Amazon was hassle-free.

They may be decent headphones if you're not working out with them, but if you are, caveat emptor.

Okay, are you tired of headphones popping out of your ears and barely missing the toilet?

I wanted over the headphones (which are fairly common) but I wanted bluetooth also so the earphone wires don't keep getting caught and pulling the earphone out of my ears. Finally, I wanted an independent power source for the headphones. I don't want headphones sucking the life out of my iPod battery. Well, I found all three major requirements in these Jaybird headphones: blue tooth, no wires, independent power (the Jaybird has an internal, rechargeable battery). And, these headphones don't cost a fortune, but don't be fooled, the sound is terrific also.

For example, I read a lot of Audible.com books and voice reproduction is super. What about music? I play the guitar and Ukulele and they both have harmonics high enough to sound terrible on cheap headphones. With these Jaybirds, I don't have hissing, spitting, cracks, drop outs which can make string instruments sound lousy. By the way, I've paired the same headphone with my iTouch and iPhone. They all get along just fine. The best way to pair them is to turn bluetooth on first on the iPod or iPhone and then turn the Jaybird on for 6 seconds. Pretty soon, the Jaybird starts frantically blinking red and blue. Then the iDevice will announce the arrival of the SB2. Just touch the SB2 device on your iSomething and you're good to go. I have Bang and Olufsen headphones also which I like very much and the Jaybird compares favorably with the Bangs. - Bluetooth Sports Headset - Bluetooth Headset - Jaybird - Wireless Headphones'

Playstation 3 - console, blu-ray

PS3 VS. OTHERS :)

Ever since the launch of Slim, the PS3 has been undertaking a quiet revolution or... could it be the console's midlife rebound? :) Here's what happened recently - and I will only note the more important developments going 12 months back (writing this in Oct., 2010):

- NetFLIX streaming, now disc-less, 1080p, 5.1 surround sound

- Much larger disk (this one is triple the size of the original Slim)

- Move

- 3D gaming

- Blu-ray 3D

This is a lot of new 'stuff' for a 4 year old console. I am not going to go into bean-counting mode and compare the PS3 improvements with what we see at the other guys but, clearly there is a lot of life in the PS3 and, with the 320GB models, the PS3 continues to maintain the largest disk advantage over the competition, is the only Blu-ray console and, when you consider the services and the array of Sony-made and third party peripherals built around it, the PS3 is a well built, well rounded entertainment hub.

THE 320GB MODEL

Over the past year or so, Sony added to the original 120GB 'Slim' model, itself a greatly optimized and streamlined PS3, several submodels sporting larger disks: 160GB, 250GB and, with the Move launch, the 360GB version. You can view this model as the original Slim with a three times larger disk or, if you want to take a more recent point of reference, the PS3 Move bundle without the Move.

DECIDING WHICH MODEL TO BUY

I happen to own the PlayStation 3 320GB System with PlayStation Move Bundle model myself in addition to an upgraded 60GB 'classic' model - our current Blu-ray/DVD player and overall media center - and the Move bundle. We also owned the original 120GB Slim at one time and, before each purchase the main decision wasn't whether to buy a PS3 but rather which model was best suited to our needs.

At the time I'm writing this (November 2010) there are 4 basic models to choose from but, since the 250GB sells for the same price as the 320GB, it's safe not to discuss it so the 3 basic options are:

A - 160GB model: the original Slim with a slightly larger disk, lowest price, same as the original launch Slim

B - 320GB model: sells for $50 more than the 160GB, offers double the storage (this model)

C - 320GB Move bundle: for an extra $50 it adds the basic Move peripherals, plus a Move game, same large disk

Depending on what your needs are, one of the 3 should make more sense than the other.

OPTION A

If 'price' is an issue go for this one. The good thing about the PS3 is that it's possible to upgrade the initial disk to a larger one later. I'm not going to go into detailed accounting but, if you can reuse or maybe sell the original 160GB disk, upgrading this model to 500GB can be done at very little cost. Some basic technical skills will be needed.

This is the choice for anyone who absolutely NEEDS 500GB (rather than 320GB).

OPTION B

Those who can use the extra storage - intense gamers or anyone planning to keep thousands of songs and photos on their PS3, are okay with 320GB and therefore don't want to go through the disk upgrade process should go with THIS MODEL. $50 for double the disk capacity is a fair deal in my view.

This model makes a lot of sense if you don't care about the Move.

OPTION C

This is the model I picked because we wanted to have the Move option. It's the best way to enter the Move world at this time. The extra $50 will buy you:

* Move motion controller, of course

* PlayStation Eye camera (must have one for the Move to work)

* Sports Champions (Ping Pong is simply awesome, some of the games play much better with a second controller)

* A demo disc so you can see what Move can do for you (most of the demos can be downloaded from the PSN)

Given that the price difference over the 'plain vanilla' 320GB model is the price you pay for the Move controller, you basically get the PS3 Eye camera and the Sports Champions game for free - and you can sell the camera if you already have one and the shrink-wrapped game if you have no use for it.

In fairness and based on my own experience, you will almost certainly end up buying a second Move motion controller. You may also want a separate charger so keep these in mind when budgeting. But, regardless, this is still the best Move starter.

DOES DISK SIZE STILL MATTER?

Probably not as much as it used to. In my view, 320GB is probably enough storage to last till the PS4 comes around - and I'm one who did upgrade his original PS3 to 500GB.

You can store an enormous amount of photos, songs, demo games, home videos and game installations on 320GB. Two years ago I thought that 500GB were making a lot of sense because movies needed so much space but, since then, the pressure to having huge disks installed on a PS3 lessened a little due to the advent of technologies such as NAS (network attached storage) and Home Servers that allow you to have thousands of GB worth of 'media' stored safely off your PS3 and streamed in when needed. And, of course, Netflix streaming eliminates the need to save many thousands of movies if the somewhat lesser quality is not a big issue. Not everyone may agree but I have no plans to replace the 320GB disk with a larger one at this time.

WHAT ELSE YOU MAY WANT/NEED

Depending on how you are planning to use the PS3, this is what you don't get but may end up buying eventually:

- HDMI cable for HD output (a component cable should work too but you can get a decent HDMI for $3-5 or so)

- One or more extra USB wires same as above, don't pay more than $2-3 for one

- One more Move Controller if you buy the Move bundle (some games will either require two controllers or will play better with two)

- One or two Navigation Controllers (no big pressure because you can use the DualShock in your left hand but it feels weird)

- Dedicated charger, especially if you have more than one Move controller or you also have a Navigation controller

- PS3 TV remote controller to use when watching movies

MY RATING

I just love the PS3. I've been a PS3 owner ever since the 60GB classic became available and I've been impressed with the PS3's reliability, versatility and its sheer power - and I've owned both 'classic' and 'slim' models, upgraded most, gave away a couple. In the end it's a matter of personal taste but the PS3 is increasingly the most popular 'gaming' or 'entertainment' implement in our household. And we DO own an Xbox too.

I will not go through the long list of PS3's features. It would be an exaggeration to say that it does 'everything' but it does a lot and it's doing it increasingly well. Agreed, features and capabilities do not come for free and sometimes they don't even come cheap (see my list of possible add-ons above) but I can't say that I have the feeling of being constantly nickeled and dimed when I upgrade my PS3 or I buy a Sony-made or a third-party add-on. I have no choice at this time but to order the extra Move and Motion controller from Sony but the charger, the larger disks I used to upgrade my old classic, all of the cables, the headset and so on came or will come from third party vendors and even for the old SixAxis and the remote controller there were alternatives at the time I decided to buy the Sony-made ones. In addition, the 'basic' PS3 console can take you pretty far as it is and you can have a lot of fun without having to spend one extra penny.

To conclude, any of the 3 options get 5 stars because the PS3 continues to be being the most feature-rich, well-balanced console you can get these days

Travel Coffee Mug - power converter, transformers

While this volt converter seems to work just fine when plugging in only one device into it at a time, having lived overseas now for years, I have grown accustomed to buying one, high voltage converter and plugging a 110v surge protector into it for use with an array of lower voltage devices or appliances. However, when you plug a surge protector into this converter, with nothing plugged into it at all, it blows the main circuit to the house every time. I have tested it with numerous differnt surge protectors and in several differnt houses and everytime, its the same thing. So, if, like me, you are looking for something you can use for plugging in multiple items at the same time, this item is not for you. Goldsource® ST-750 Step Up/Down Voltage Transformer Converter - AC 110/220 V - 750 Watt

I've bought this voltage converter with the KitchenAid KP26M1XER stand mixer which actually reqires 600 Watt for operating, since I'm living in Europe, I'm using this converter while using the stand mixer and it did the job so far... Works perfect when used for one machine at a time...

Got this converter to run my 220v AV receiver & powered sub here in 110v USA. Well it seems to work fine for now so we'll see down the track. One thing I didn't realise was that there is 1 x 110v output and 1 x 220v output on the front so for my two 220v appliances I have to use a double adaptor, not a big deal but I assumed the outputs would have been the same, either both 110v or both 220v.

I moved to the US from the UK, and took my PS3 and some other small electrical items with me. The PS3 won't work with a simple plug adaptor (the green light came on, but nothing happened), so I found out that I needed a voltage transformer. I bought this size (750W) because it has enough voltage to spare (apparently this is recommended).

The unit is smaller than I expected - I plugged it into the mains, plugged the PS3 into the UK power socket on the front, switched it on, and it all works

I leave it on for a few hours at a time and it runs very quietly (a very faint hum). I left it on overnight once while the PS3 downloaded content, and it was still running fine in the morning.

We have also used this with a food mixer we brought over from the UK.

Instructions were very clear - when it arrived I had to set it to transform from 110 to 240 - it was a simple matter of moving a pin on the back of the box.

It also came with 2 spare fuses

I ordered this product to convert from 110V to 220V.

When I got the delivery and opened the box, first thing I noticed is that there were NO soft materials in the box to protect this heavy-bulky item. Not surprisingly I found few of the boxe's 8 corners with dents and paint defects - probably caused during delivery (picture attached).

I could have returned it, but really needed to use it + it is going to be under a table so I just moved on with it, but this was a bit disappointing.

You would expect Goldsource to invest a bit more in packaging to protect the product.

The 110V/220V input plug was easy to set.

When coming to inset the power cable into the output socket, I found the socket was not very "friendly" and I had to use real force to enter the European plug into it.

There is one 110V output and one 220V output, which I do not see the point as I can not think of someone carrying this heavy box back and forth from a 110V state to a 220V state. I think the product should be either for 110V or for 220V, and add another one or even two more output sockets like they have on my "Seven Star" converter.

Bottom line: the box did the job and I was able to operate my device.

The product would have been better if it had a couple of more 220V output sockets, and the whole experience would have been better if I would have gotten a non-defected item.

I'm very disappointed with this product. It stopped working just few times after we used it. It's rated for a 750W power and we used it for a 500W appliance but the fuse melt down in its socket and now it can't even be removed.

The painting is stinking of a very bad solvent smell and I am surprised that such a product can be sold in US.

Nice converter for the price. Went a step up to this 750 Watt because it wasn't much more to have the extra wattage available. Of course with this comes extra size and weight! Not something you would want to pack in your bag a lug around, that's for sure. The included outlet adapter was a nice bonus (Although it's pretty cheap and difficult to plug in and retrieve from the recessed outlets). It's nice that you have everything you need to plug and play, but if it's not going to be in one place to stay, I would recommend getting a more user friendly adapter. The cord and transformer itself seem durable and well made. Voltage input selector on the back is easy to change, yet you would be out of luck if you lost the little piece for it. Consider securing it in some way. And even though the converter had a little rattle in it when I got it, I think everything is good! - Voltage Converter - Transformers - Power Converter - Relocation'

Power Stands - chin up, chin up bar

We decided on this tower after looking all over the net for different models. We also went to various local stores looking at different options. Between Amazon's price and free shipping, this was the best deal. It arrived about 6 days after we ordered it. The assembly was easy enough. It took my fiance and I about 30 minutes to put it together. The packaging was good and there were no missing parts. Based on the packaging, even a hole in the box would probably not lead to lost parts. The nuts and bolts are packaged in a larger package together so it would be difficult to lose them. There were some small scratches on a few pieces. If we cared, we could hit it with some hit touch-up paint. The scratches do not go through the paint and are hard to see. We are not planning on fixing them. I am a big guy (230lbs) and the unit easily supports me. As I lose weight, the unit should only get more stable. Obviously any tower that is compact is not going to be as sturdy as something you would find in a gym. We did not want something that was too bulky so we will accept less-than-gym quality as a trade-off for saving space. We purchased this to use with P90X because we did not trust using a doorway mounted pull-up bar. This also gives us the option to doing dips, leg raises, and push-ups. One reason we chose this model over others is the fact that this model comes with a straight pull-up bar as opposed to two bars that do not connect. We did this because my fiance is obviously going to grab the bar in different locations than me based on shoulder/arm width. A straight bar makes it fit the two of us. As suggested by another reviewer, we are going to buy handlebar tape for bicycles and tape up the entire bar. That way we get good grip no matter where are hands are. Overall we are happy with the purchase. Body Vision PT600 Power Tower

This product has a few major flaws that make it not worth the money. For some perspective, I'm a 30yr old male, I work out very often and I'm 5'9".

1. the arm bars are too far apart and are Not adjustable. This makes dips painful on your shoulders, rendering this part of the machine useless. If you have very very broad shoulders it may be okay for you. But when you pay over $100 for a machine that only does three things, you'd like for all three things to work.

2. Even if you could do the dips without pain, you'll hit your head on the chin-up bar if you're any taller than say 5'4". This is why some of the machines put the dip station on the opposite side- a better idea.

3. Again, because the arms are so far apart, it actually makes leg raises much more difficult and awkward.

4. While safe and pretty sturdy, the machine rocks slightly during pull-ups. To avoid this you have to put your back on the back brace when doing pull-ups.

In general, I think it's better to buy this sort of product from a store where you can try it out to see if it works for you.

Easy to assemble and strong. I am 6'3 and there is enough room for me to do chin-ups facing away from the apparatus. Also there is enough head clearance from the chin-up bar when I do dips. I would buy again and would reccomend.

I must confess that I am enjoying the Body Vision PT600 Tower of Power, despite a couple of small set backs.

First, the unit was shipped with 30% of the box completely shredded. The UPS delivery man said "I can't believe that this was even shipped out. You better get ready to call Amazon" and then promptly left the scene. Luckily, everything was in the box, and nothing was damaged.

The tower took me 1 hour and 35 minutes to assemble, from opening the box to throwing the cardboard in the recycle bin. There are quite a few parts, but Body Vision has done a stellar job of organizing everything (all of the nuts and bolts are labelled in a cardboard container). The only tools that I needed were a pair of vice grips (to hold the washers in place) and 2 sockets from my socket set. A couple of notes: the arm rests lean/face IN, and the rubber covers that go in front of the pull-up bar are packaged with the back braces for the arm rests. I assembled everything and then found the leftover braces, so I had to unbolt the arm rests and put the back braces on. Probably my stupidity for not noticing them, but the diagram is a bit vague on this step. So, remember this step and you can shave 10 minutes off of your install time.

As for use of the Tower: I am 6 feet tall and 210 pounds, and the tower did not tremble at all when I did pulls ups, dips, and ab movements. So, the sturdiness of the tower is rock-solid. One of the arm rests shimmies slightly, and I have tried tightening it; it is not enough to keep it from being used, or to doubt it's construction, but it is something to note.

The push up bars, at the bottom, work great and will give your chest a powerful blast.

Overall: 4 stars (more like 4.5), but I knocked one (half) star off due to the shipping brutality to the box, and the slight wobbling of one of the arm rest. Otherwise, a great product! - Fitness Power Tower - Pull-ups - Chin Up - Chin Up Bar'

Samsung Captivate - battery, galaxy s

The charger and cable were identical to the cable and charger that came with my Samsung Fascinate Verizon phone. The charger looked like it had been "gently used," but it works properly, so I was not bothered by a couple of nicks on the plastic. I would buy again without reservation. OEM Samsung USB Travel Charger Adapter w/ Data Cable micro USB ETA0U60JBE for Samsung Epic 4G Captivate Fascinate Gravity T Intercept Messager Touch Seek Smiley :) Strive Vibrant Exec Eternity II

I was looking for a charger that would work from either an AC adapter or a USB port. I also needed to make sure I found one that would work with the Samsung Captivate since the micro USB port is recessed and wider cables won't sit properly. I decided to go with an OEM charger to make sure I got something that worked since everyone claims to support the Captivate, but not all of them fit properly. Sure, I could have purchased a 3rd party charger for $5 or less, but with this one I knew I was getting something that worked properly.

This usb connector worked nicely for my samsung messenger touch. It charges and transfers my files in a timely fashion. It doesn't feel cheap and fits snugly in my phone. It has a detachable a/c charger or usb male end. A wise purchase.

I bought this as a second charger for my Samsung Fascinate. The cord is a little shorter than the one I got with my phone but that actually works out better for a second charger. Mostly I bought it to keep in my travel bag so I'm sure I can recharge my phone. This is a genuine Samsung product and has the Samsung name on the device. Highly recommend this because it's not a cheap knock-off that might overcharge your phone and damage the battery--and what a price.

I was a little worried about buying a cable for a few bucks, when the chain stores sell the same item for 20 plus bucks. So in fact I actually ordered on from this seller, and one from another seller. Both arrived on the same date, and both work perfectly. I ordered two so I don't have to always carry the cord around. I can have one at each of my locations. Great Price, Great Value. Would definitely suggest ordering for a replacement Epic 4G data charging cable.

I recently bought a used Samsung Captivate on Ebay that didn't come with the OEM USB "Data" Cable. It came with a USB cable that I could use to charge the phone but would not communicate through my computer to transfer photo, video, or other files that were too large to email or send otherwise. I ordered this OEM Travel Charger Adapter w/ Data Cable, and it worked like a charm. I am able to use the USB data cable to transfer files from my phone to my computer. The AC adapter also works like a charm. Great product for a great price.

Yes, Samsung Focus is not in the list mentioned by the seller, but it does work with Samsung Focus, and unlike some of the users the cable i got is similar in look and length to my original Samsung Focus cable. - Galaxy S - Battery - Samsung Captivate - Captivate'

Army Styled Cragos Pants Pantaloons Mili...

Originally bought one pair of the Russet Brown they turned out to be the Olive Drab like others have said, but still they are great pants just remember that the lowest in the size range is gonna be the actual size.

Other than that they're the best pants I've bought in years besides for the camo pants i use for paintball. Also bought 2 more pairs so im not stuck with the Olive Drab color. 2886 Vintage Military Authentic BDU Pants Russet Brown Fatigues (Medium)

I read one review where someone said these 'run big.' Be careful believing that. They run big on SMALL people! Lol. If you're a smaller person, they'll look WONDERFUL on you. But me, I'm 6'4", 250 lbs! NO. FREAKING. WAY.

Yeah, it's true that the length is alittle long, but you can always fold them up, right? Anyways, their light-weight, thin breathable --but durable material, and they look great if you like the military cargo look (which I definitely do).

The size chart is some-what complicated, but I can tell you that their "Medium" fits my 32 waist PERFECTLY fine.

*Note* I ordered the "Russet Brown" color and upon first sight, they looked very green to me. Just to make sure it wasn't my sight that was bad, I asked a near-by relative to look at them and they seemed greenish to her as well. Just thought you buyers wanna know that. Enjoy!'

Screwdriver - extension, socket

I needed an adapter to connect my sockets to my cordless drill. I came across these on Amazon for only $3.50. I really only needed them for one repair project I was working on, so I didn't care if they only lasted me for the one use. To my amazement, the are actually built really strong! My Stanley sockets and drive extensions snap on really tight. Actually almost too tight. I had to really pull to get them off. Which is fine with me. I would rather they be on tight then fall off every 30 seconds.

You get 3 adapters to fit sockets for: 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and, 1/2 inch.

I am so glad I opted to buy this set vs. just the 3/8 inch one I found at our local Home Depot. Home Depot had the one adapter for almost twice as much as this whole set. In the end I ended up needing the 1/2 inch too so it was so worth buying the whole set.

The quality of these way surpassed my expectations. Now, instead of throwing them away after my project was complete like I expected, I am put them in my tool box with my sockets. I definitely will be using these more often! 3 Pc. Power Extension Socket Adaptor for Drills

Its just a set of cheap china set of Socket Adapter for Drills. Already broke four. They should work okay for the home owner. I knew what I was buying, its not the sellers fault. At the breakage rate I am having= craftsman. For a little more money= made in USA, forged, not cast cheap metal. The seller is great. Its just a cheap product.

Amazing how many items come through my house requiring assembly with sockets or hex keys. These guys take the socket wrench out of my hand and replace it with a drill ... They've gotten me back to the sofa ahead of schedule on many a weekend. Make sure to adjust the torque on the drill to avoid over tightening - can pretty easily damage what you're working on OR twist the drill out of your hand. Only concern I've noted is that the finish seems to have tarnished over time.

I have purchased two of these from the same seller via amazon. The first set was perfect and exactly like in the picture with one slot in the shaft for the bearings in the driver chuck to connect. I liked it, and ordered another to have one in a dedicated portable tool chest. The second set was ordered using the same link, but was not the same socket adapters at all. There were two slim slots in the shaft and got immediately stuck in my dewalt 18 volt impact driver. I had to rip it out with the assistance of vice-grips and persistent knocking with a second wrench. The first set is nice, but the second almost damaged my far more expensive tool.

For three of these in decent quality they are good for the price. Now I can use my cordless screwdriver for bolts on my car, going to be much nicer at taking things apart than using a ratchet that takes forever. I recommend these.

This served the purpose of exactly what I needed, to be able to use my drill with my many socket sets. And for only a few dollars, I cant complain. Obviously this was not made for impact wrenches, but then again neither are drills. :) - Socket - Extension - Drill - Screwdriver'

Garmin Nuvi - garmin nuvi

The Garmin leather carrying case is a decent travel compainion and a perfect fit for the Nuvi 370, 360, 350, 310, 300 and also the new 270, 250, and 200.

After purchasing the new Garmin Nuvi 200, and quickly realizing it didn't come with a carrying case, I purchased this product. The quality black leather make this both appealing to the eye and durable however this is a slide-type case, so it is constantly open on one end. A nice feature would have been some type of zipper or velcro closure so the Garmin GPS unit could be fully enveloped within the case. It has a snug fit so I haven't had any problems with it slipping out yet but I do find myself constantly checking to make sure my Nuvi 200 is properly placed inside the case.

I would have preferred a little more padding with it too. The case is made up of thin leather on all sides with very little padding to protect against accidental drops. It would have been nice to have some more cushion for those clusmy moments we've all expercienced.

This case seems to be designed more for protection against scratches and to shield the LCD screen against accidental scrapes.

Still, I give this carrying case three stars because of it's price, duarability, and sleek leather appearance. Garmin 3.5-Inch Carrying Case

This case is very nice leather, with a firm (probably plastic) insert that protects the scrren. We had one shattered screen, so this seems like just what the Dr. Ordered. The fit is snug which is great, so the unit won't slip out even if you hold it from different angles.

The Nuvi 350 (and possibly the other Nuvis) comes with a leather case, so you don't need to order it separately.

The 350 also comes with both car & AC chargers and dash & windshield mounts.

All these accessories that come with the Nuvi have worked fine. The leather seems to be of good quality, and the Nuvi slips into it easily.

Very well made leather case which fit my Nuvi 270 perfectly. I used this extensively during a recent trip and the case helped protect the Nuvi against scratches, dings, dents, and weather (though not waterproof). A very good way to protect your Nuvi investment. Does exactly what it advertises to do.

This product has very nice touch and eye appeal. It's slightly different from and better quality than (it appears to be) in the image on the page at Amazon.

If you decide to buy it, be aware that it is a cushioned sleeve into which the nuvi slides, not really a full, closed case. It is fairly snug, but I do not know how well it would protect the unit if dropped, particularly on the open side.

I like it though, and it's fine to protect the screen when I store it in the glove compartment or center console, or in a coat pocket.

Strictly from a functional standpoint though, you can get one of those little Velcro cases they make for digital cameras, for about a third the price. But this case makes you feel nice. So there IS that.

Added 12/23/08 - I see that the image of the sleeve has been updated. It does look like this image, and I'm still happy with mine.

To be accurate this is not a review of the case itself but a red flag to all you Garmin widescreen GPS owners. Both Amazon and ANTonline recommend this case for the 4.3 widescreen unit when it's at east 3/4" to short to protect the screen. I informed both Amazon and ANTOnline and they still have not corrected the recommendation. So people are buying it

with the wrong impression. I tried to have ANTOnline either accept it back as a return or an exchange for the correct case (see Garmin website for the correct case)but they ignored all my requests until they finally emailed me to tell me they contacted Garmin who will work with me to correct the matter. Regardless of why Garmin should be responsible for their mistake, I called Garmin and asked them if ANTOnline had contacted them.

They claimed they never heard from them but were willing to send me the correct case for free. So within a week's time I received my new case from Garmin. Three cheers for Garmin! Three boos for Amazon and ANTOnline.

I bought this case for my Nuvi 650 to protect the screen. While my unit technically does "fit" in the case, only about two-thirds of the screen is covered. The rest just sticks out of the top of the rather small case.

If you want to protect the screen I suggest a larger case.

I am happy with the Nuvi carrying case - as everyone and their grandmother have mentioned it is too short for the "W" Nuvi's but mine is a regular 260 and this case is the perfect size and at a great price. I like the look of it as well, it's not a flashy, "look at me" type of case and seems sturdy. - Garmin Nuvi'

Resistance - strength training, fitness

I read reviews of this product before I tried it. The reviews stated that this product did not provide enough resistance, and that they even smelled funny. I decided to go ahead and try them anyway, since they are at a great price.

When I received these bands, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the reviews weren't exactly accurate.

In regard to the weakness: I'm no gym guy, but these were pretty difficult for me to work with. Not difficult as in "too hard need a weaker pair" but difficult as in "feeling the burn after half of the workout."

In regard to the smell: it just smells like rubber to me, it's not really overwhelming or anything like that.

Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase! Set of 5 NEW Premium Latex Power Resistance Bands Tubes Cords w/ free Door Anchor, Storage Bag and Exercise Instructions

I purchased this product to use as part of my home work out routine. The product came with no instructions or manufacturer information. When using one of the bands for the first time it broke and snapped leaving a 7 inch welt and broken skin on my chest. Had it hit me in the face i have no doubt it could have taken an eye out. Stay away from this product.

These are very poorly put together. I have been using them during my P90X lean workouts doing nothing out of the ordinary and two of them have already broken. A complete waste of money, now I have to go out and buy weights to make up for the two bands that have broken. I am so nervous that another one will break and I might injure myself in the process that I am not going to use them again.

Don't buy this product, there are plenty of other brands of resistance bands (still cheap) out there that cost $20-$40 on amazon that will probably work better. Spend the extra money on a better product now. Don't waste your money on this product that breaks while they are being used to do what they were made for.

1st time I used the bands they worked flawlessly, the next time I used them, two of them broke just below the handles.

UPDATE!!! -- Hello, I just wanted to add. I had emailed the seller about the broken bands and honestly didn't expect a reply. Well they did reply and said they were sending the out ASAP. I received the package in a few days! They also replaced the entire package, not just the broken bands. I am changing my review from one star to FIVE!

Thanks guys!

The item is nice, but only on the picture since I did not receive it for 4 months and the company is ignoring my emails and do not wish to take responsibility! Do not buy this and do not buy anything from Green Web Properties.

The quality of the bands is on the cheap side. Only two of them had a fair amount of resistance. What's worse, is that the picture showed clips on all the bands with ONLY two handles, so that the resistance would be adjustable. it is not. They all have their own handles, and you can't hold more than two at a time comfortably.

Although the product's page didn't seem to list the resistances of each band, I figured it wasn't a big deal as the picture on the product's page showed five bands with metal loops on the ends to be attached to a single set of handles, and surely all five together would exceed my maximum desired resistance.

Unfortunately, what is pictured is not what you get, because every band has its own set of handles and they have no easy way to link them together. Using the door handles as handles might be your best bet. I probably should have read the "Disappointed" review before purchasing these, because it's exactly what happened to me. If you're fine with not getting what you want, buy these, but otherwise, you might want to look somewhere else.

I purchased these bands to start a workout program. I based my decision to buy these on the decription and the picture provided. The picture shows five bands that have metal eye hooks on each end for connecting to the pair of handles in order to increase the resistance. The bands that arrived have handles on each and every band. This makes combining the bands, for increased resistance, a hassle when the have to be tied together.

I never would never had purchased these had I known each band had handles on them. I would have looked, and will be looking, for others that suit my needs but in the meantime these are being returned.

A more detailed description would have alleviated the need to return these because they would never have been purchased had I known they were not what I wanted. - P90x - Fitness - Strength Training - Exercise Bands'

Garmin Nuvi 205w - garmin nuvi 250w, garmin gps

I have had this unit for about 8 months. It has given me no problems what so ever. The bad thing about it for me is how basic it is. If you want bluetooth compatibility, traffic updates, movie times, etc on your GPS, then this is not the device for you. But if all you want is to get around and find places, then this unit will work well.

The price seems a little high right now for what it does ($180). For that price I would expect bluetooth compatibility. This unit does not say the road names, it just says turn left or turn right in 200 feet(not a big deal). When you look places up, it has their phone number and address (usually) which is nice because if its late at night, you can call first to see if they are still open.

This GPS has an SD card reader on the side, which can be used to view pictures in slideshow mode when you don't need the unit for navigation.

The screen is very bright during the day, so you can easily see the screen. And a nice feature is that when it gets dark, the screen automatically changes colors to 'night' mode, which helps when driving at night (the screen dims and the bright white background colors change to dark blues and blacks).

The trip features are nice. It keeps track of your average speed, how long you spent moving, how long you spent stopped, total travel time, how many miles you've gone, etc.

It takes about a minute to a minute and a half to find your location from a cold start, but if you leave it powered all the time (with a car in which the cig lighter stays on when you turn the car off) it never loses the location (not sure if that is bad for it).

The battery life is very good (about 4-5 hours).

There are many add-ons that a technologically advanced person can add to it. Such as custom points of interest (you can download them or even make your own, and you can set alerts so that it warns you when you are close to a certain place or when you are speeding in a school zone). You can add different vehicle icons to use as the car on the screen.

Overall, it is a decent, but very basic navigation device. Not many bells or whistles, but it gets you from point A to point B well. Garmin nüvi 205W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

I have owned a Garmin c320 for a few years now and was looking for some new features, like coordinates and altitude. I first bought the TomTom 330 XL, which was a disaster. After lots of research, I bought this and kept it. Here is my long list of pros and cons:

PROS:

1. Best routes. (See my cons) This may be one of the main reasons Garmin dominates in the US -- good routing. Of course, I wish it had more a brain and could think about traffic lights and general traffic in certain areas at certain times (not actual traffic reporting), but I guess needing brains is good.

2. Where Am I? (See my cons) This will list your nearest street address. In this screen it also shows altitude and your coordinates.

3. Easier broad map access. On my c320, you had to dig in the menus to find a broad map view, so you could touch areas on the map and go to it. On the 205w, you can just touch the map while driving and it will take you to the broad map. You can then touch an area that you want to make a Via Point and change your route that way.

4. Speed Limit sign. You can set it up to show the current speed limit on the screen. It has been super accurate to the instant of a speed limit change in real driving. If the sign is missing on the screen, you also then know that it doesn't really know how to calculate arrival time from the road. You may want to use that information to take or avoid that road on your next trip.

5. Very compact. My c320 was much bigger, so this is super small.

CONS:

1. Touchscreen. This may change as I use it, but the touchscreen is no where near as sensitive as my c320. It requires some hard touching. It also shows fingerprints much worse than my old GPS unit.

2. Ball mount. This gives a better range of motion than the mount on my c320, but it feels like I need to push really hard on my GPS unit to get it to snap in. This may change in age, too.

3. Keyboard speed. When I'm typing in a city, street, etc., the keyboard is a full QWERY keyboard, which is an improvement over my c320 (I think you can choose ABC keyboard), but there are two things I don't like: 1) there is a delay from when you type to when it shows, so if you type fast, you can't see what you're typing, if you make a mistake, you don't see if very fast; 2)the spacebar is tiny and way off to the right, while dumb menus are in the bottom middle -- very annoying!!

4. Charging cord. On my c320, the charging cord would plug into the mount and there wasn't a charge jack in the GPS unit itself. This was nice because you could leave the power cord in the mount all the time and take the GPS with you - you never had to plug in, just clip the GPS in and out. Now, the power cord won't stay put and it falls out the door, etc. because it must be plugged into the back of the GPS. I suppose with the mount the way it is, it's not possible to have a jack in the mount and GPS, but I think they should work on that.

5. Current road. The TomTom XL 330 did show what road you are currently on and what the next road to turn onto was. Garmin only shows the next road name.

6. Routing pet peeve. Sometimes I won't want to take its routing because I know of a better way. Let's say I turn off of the normal route -- it will recalculate and have a shorter time than before I turned. What's up with that? Why didn't it take me that way to begin with?

6. Routing choices. I don't like the fact that I can choose either Fastest Time or Shortest Route. I would imagine that some of the time, the best route would be in between those to extremes.

7. Missing POIs. There are just so many cases where I'll be looking for something and it's not in the Garmin -- even for stores and restaurants open for years. I know you'll have this will all GPS units, but for the #1 seller in the US, can't they figure out a way to get the users involved? How about incentives for users to fix problems online and give them discounts on map updates? If you have the best maps and POIs by far, why would anyone buy any other company?

8. Tinny speaker. I'm not impressed with the speaker, it is much worse sounding than the deep c320, but you can hear it. It's just not pleasant.

9. Voice choices. It would be nice to choose your voice, but I don't see that option, unless you choose another language.

10. Nearest intersection. This is within the "Where Am I" place in the menu. It could be very useful in an emergency to have the nearest intersection in addition to the nearest address. However, I've found that they should have labeled it, "random intersection within a few miles." It will generally show me a major intersection, and sometimes ignore dozens of closer small intersections that would be much more beneficial to the police, fire, ambulance, etc.

11. Volume. I hate how they have the volume setup. On the c320 there was a wheel on the side of the unit -- that's best. On the TomTom, there was a place on the main driving screen that you touched and then moved the volume slider. On this 205W, you must hit Menu, Volume, move it, then back, then View Map. This is just awful. I want a Mute button on the driving screen and a separate volume button there, too. This is widescreen after all. I hope this doesn't cause accidents, because I think it will. When I answer my phone, I want fast access to mute!

12. Need customization! Let me choose 3 shortcut buttons for the driving map view. That way I can put Where Am I, Volume, and POI on the main screen. Please!! I also want to change my route color to red instead of light purple.

13. POI choices. This is something I've never found a GPS that does this how I want it. If I'm looking for gas or food, it is usually on a long trip. If I want to go to fast food, let's say (that wouldn't happen!), I would choose Restaurant, Fast Food. It will show me all the restaurants by how far they are from me now. That's not what I want, so I choose Near...My Current Route. That's closer to what I want, but it still shows how far it is from where I am now. I want it to show me that, but also how far I'd have to deviate from my route.

[UPDATE 6/5/09] 14. Battery life. The battery life is just awful in my unit. It might last a few hours, and if it is sitting idle for a couple weeks, it's almost dead. My c320's battery was far superior. It has been this way since it was new. I suppose mine could be defective..

Overall, this is an excellent unit and I would buy it again because I believe the Pros outweigh the Cons and no competitor has yet beat it.

[UPDATE 3/18/10] I'm still using this and it's working well, except for the battery life. I did find that you can add the EcoRoute features if you upgrade your firmware from Garmin's website. Sorry, I can't post instructions, but the feature is very cool. You add your car's miles per gallon and the current gas price and it tells you how much it will cost to get to your destination, along with other features. - Garmin Gps - Garmin Nuvi 250w - Gps - Garmin Nuvi'

Read At Night - read at night, reading light

THis lightwedge is fantastic. It provides a great source of light that is focused on your book, not on the person next to you. The light comes from the black handle, but because of the "wedge" shape of the glass, it is focused down the glass and onto your book. You can even take that focused beam and use it as an impromtu flashlight.

This thing uses hardly any batteries at all, unlike the other popular reading lights. I very rarely have to change the batteries and I use this all the time, for hours every night! I've even fallen asleep with it on overnight, with no noticable decrease in battery life. Because the battery life is so good, I've even let my son read in bed for awhile and then just set it down and use it as a nightlight for the rest of the night.

It is true that if you're like I am (rough with it) it will get scratches on the lens. Not a big deal though, when it's on the book, you won't notice the scraches. Much like small scratches on eyeglasses.

I like the larger size because you can use that with large books or with paperbacks with equal ease. The paperback one doesn't work as well with the hardcover books, but it's okay.

The lightwedge also doubles as a bookmark when not in use!

You won't be disappointed if you buy this. I wasn't. I'm actually buying two more for friends as Christmas gifts! LightWedge Original LED Book Light, Black

I use the LightWedge to read in bed and bought it so the light wouldn't disturb my husband. We both think it works great; however, be mindful of the translucent versus solid colored casing in terms of light escape.

The translucent lets the light escape through its clear casing and scatter throughout the room. So, if disturbing others around you is an issue then buy a solid colored casing.

Overall, the LightWedge is a must buy for anyone who likes to read before going to bed and while traveling. I have 2 more suggestions: 1) buy the case covering to protect it when not in use 2) buy a LightWedge with different light settings, if possible: a high and a low. For example, when I wake in the middle of the night and can't fall asleep, I get out my book to read. The problem is that my current LightWedge has only one light setting. This can be so bright, it almost hurts to read and how I mumble and curse myself for not being a more mindful consumer.

I bought this light based on all the great reviews. I love reading in bed and my husband can't stand the light on when he is trying to sleep. So, I thought I had found a good option for both of us. I find the design of this light awkward while reading--it's hard to move between pages and the light output is really faint. I am under 40 and have good vision--so think it is the light and not my eyes. I'm still looking for a better solution.

I read books at night, frequently, so I purchased this product so I wouldn't disturb my wife. This light source is simple in design: tiny LED lamps illuminate a thin piece of plastic (working similar to a fiberoptic lamp Lumisource LS-FO SPRAY Fiber Optic Spray). It is about the dimensions of a full sized book and the black handle which houses the battery/light source is somewhat bulky. A small button toggles the light intensity from low to dim to off.

USE

Place the item on the page that you want to read, push the button to the light intensity that you desire (allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness, which may take a minute or more), and flip the item to the other page to read. As you turn the page, you will need to take the item out, and place it back into the book.

In concept, this product is ideal. You have a light source that is limited to the pages that you are viewing. However, even on the highest intensity (let's call it dim and dimmer), the light is still somewhat low. What can you read with this item? Books that have high contrast paper (glossy pages are most ideal since the reflective proper of the paper allows for better view). Conventional novels are a bit more difficult to read. Magazines are impossible unless you read on your stomach with the magazine placed on the bed. Furthermore, pictures are difficult to see, at best.

DURABILITY

Like any screen on a laptop, I placed a SCREEN PROTECTOR on my lightwedge to prevent scratches. Any scratch with transmit uneven light (more than usual).

Given that LEDs have very little power requirements, I have had the same batteries in the unit for the past 3 years, and it is still running.

DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS

More LED bulbs along the 'spine' of the handle would improve the light intensity.

A thinner, scratch resistant plastic with a lighter handle would be a marked improvement.

VERDICT

Knowing the limitations and tendency for scratches, it is an innovative product that still has good uses. You will need to try this product for yourself, before you can decide if it works for you. - Booklight - Reading Light - Lightwedge - Read At Night'
