Based On The True Story - sports, gangs
I would recommend this movie for anyone who wishes to watch a film that shows true emotion, that shows real characters overcoming obstacles in their lifes. This is without a doubt, The Rock's best performances in a movie. So if you enjoy a hard-hitting, emotional underdog story, then pick up The Gridiron Gang, because it won't disappoint. Absolutely awesome movie in my opinion. Its worth your money. Gridiron Gang (Widescreen Edition)
Who really wants to see another feel-good movie about a tough educator who takes on both the most violent juvenile delinquents and "the system," raising them from the abyss of failure and imprisonment to success that they wouldn't have dared dream of only months before? Do we really need another formulaic sports flick, "based on a true story" about a coach taking his rag-tag team of underdogs all the way to the city championship?
You bet we do!
In what's being touted as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's dramatic debut, Gridiron Gang showcases both the former professional wrestler's physical prowess and his emerging acting chops as tough-as-nails juvenile detention officer Sean Porter. Frustrated by the 75 percent recidivism rate of the teen felons in his charge at the Camp Kilpatrick reformatory in Los Angeles County, Porter sees that the vicious circle of violence, gang activity, and growing up without fathers has doomed them to wasted lives behind bars.
He keeps sending one troubled kid in particular, Roger (Michael J. Pagan), to "the hole" for punishment.
"Where're you gonna be in four years?" Porter grills him.
"In jail," the sulking youth answers.
"No! You're going to be dead!"
Sure enough, even though Roger is trying to go straight, while on release a week later he is gunned down in a drive-by shooting while hanging out with his old gang. Soon Roger's brother Willie (Jade Yorker) winds up at the same reformatory when he shoots his mother's abusive live-in boyfriend.
Driving home from work one night, Porter spots a group of kids playing football under the lights and has an inspiration. As a last-ditch effort to try to turn around the presumably unsalvageable lives of Camp Kilpatrick's murderers, rapists, and carjackers, he launches a football program.
Porter cajoles many of the toughest youths to join the Mustang team, where nobody gets a free ride and membership has to be earned. Attempting to convince the skeptical administration to fund his team, he reminds them that "these kids have never worked hard for anything in their lives." Once his kids amble onto the practice field, they learn that being tough is more than bullying and posturing, but requires discipline, commitment, and self-restraint.
What impressed me most were the sequences in which Porter builds up the team, drilling them through tough workouts and scrimmages, testing their endurance, and, for the first time in their lives, forging their characters. As with Spencer Tracy's Father Flanagan in the 1938 classic Boys Town, Porter operates on the premise that his boys are not inherently bad. "You are somebody," he tells them, "and are worthy of something." But his attempts to inspire the team go beyond mere pep talks: Porter instills in them the lesson that true self-esteem can be gained only by achievement, not merely by inflating their egos with false praise. "It's a whole new world out there when you earn things," he tells them.
Having Coach Porter as the first man in their lives to believe in them and serve as a father figure fills the youths with false expectations at their first game. Despite a couple of good tackles early on, the Mustangs get a rude awakening once their opponents gather steam. After getting stomped on for a 38-0 loss, not only do many on the team start to question whether the football program is worth it, but so do some of Camp Kilpatrick's administrators.
"We wanted to create self-esteem, but it was just the opposite," one of them laments to Porter. "These kids can't handle that kind of disappointment. We have to pull the plug."
Just as everyone seems willing to throw in the towel, one of Porter's players, Junior (Setu Taase), discovers that self-esteem is more than immediate gratification, and requires diligent effort even in the face of crushing defeat. Junior convinces his teammates why they must not give up. "It's like I told you, Coach," he explains to Porter, "we're tired of being losers." Predictably, the Mustangs improve and fight their way to the playoffs.
While the action on the field is shot a little too claustrophobically with telephoto lenses, the movie as a whole doesn't suffer much. Trevor Rabin (of the group Yes) provides an emotionally rousing soundtrack. But the pillar of the film is The Rock, who supports it with a strong performance. A former University of Miami football standout, he brings credibility and conviction to his role. While he's come a long way from his "Layeth the Smacketh Down" WWF days, The Rock is still not exactly an accomplished and subtle actor. Of course, tough kids don't need understatement and nuance--they need sturdy and straightforward. Think Lee Marvin's Major Reisman from The Dirty Dozen, crossed with Glenn Ford's Mr. Dadier in Blackboard Jungle.
In the durable genre of tough educators who turn around troubled inner-city youths, The Rock's turn on screen in Gridiron Gang doesn't rise to the level of Morgan Freeman's breakthrough performance in Lean on Me (1989), or Sidney Poitier's memorable turn in To Sir, with Love (1967). Neither does Gridiron Gang belong in the same league with other great sports flicks about underdog teams who go all the way to the top, like Hoosiers (1986) or Friday Night Lights (2004).
But, as a movie which straddles both genres, it really gels and will lift the spirits of most viewers. Sure, Gridiron Gang is formulaic. But what makes it enjoyable and moving is the true-life example of how one man turns around the lives of troubled kids by instilling them with pride, faith in themselves, and awareness that they are not born criminals, but possess the free will to make productive lives for themselves.
No-excuses self-esteem requires a formula, too; and Gridiron Gang shows how it's done. - Sports - Gangs - Dwayne Johnson - Football'

PDF Converter Professional 7.0 is one of several otherwise excellent software packages from Nuance that are let down by the company's draconian approach to software theft.
Like Microsoft and Adobe, Nuance uses an activation process. This is not unreasonable, but, unlike these two, Nuance has a very flaky implementation, prompting me to knock a star off the rating.
The software itself is fine - indeed, it is streets ahead of Acrobat, especially on cost - but after using it for some months it suddenly decided that I had pirated the thing and had installed it on another computer. Nope. I had just added some external drives. The software then interpreted this as a different computer. Even Windows doesn't do that. Adobe fixed similar issues some years ago.
This is by design, according to Nuance's support staff, which told me that "changing parts of the computer will trigger to change the machine finger print and changing the machine finger print will require activation. Using an external hard drive is included on the parts of the computer which change the machine finger print. We apologized but that how our activation works."
This is not how other "activated" software works.
You have to be careful with this activation process. Do it too often - easily done if you turn external drives on and off - and you are deemed to be a software thief and you are locked out of the software that you have paid for.
If you are choosing between different PDF options, you might want to see if the alternative has a more sane approach to activation.
This warning applies to other Nuance packages because they suffer from the same disease. I have had it on OmniPage Professional 17 and Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11, others have been hit on PaperPort Professional V12.0. It would make me think twice about buying future versions.
Update: the latest thing to provoke an activation request in PDF Converter 7 was a BIOS update on my computer. Nuance tells me that this is correct. BIOS updates change the machine's fingerprint, so activation is required. Funnily, neither Microsoft nor Adobe see this change as serious enough to warrant reactivation of Acrobat or Windows. PDF Converter PRO 7.0 Retail
Except for one critical problem, this is an excellent alternative to Adobe Acrobat and seems to integrate well with that program when sharing comments and editing etc etc.
I would recommend it highly except for a fundamental problem with the way this software is activated and the likelihood that it will stop working due to this feature. PDF Converter Professional 7 seems to identify the process of adding/removing external drives as significantly changing the computer and flags this as the user installing the software on a new computer. It then asks for activation, which would not be a big deal except that there are a very limited number of activations available to the user before the software stops working.
I phoned the help line and was told to reinstall the program with antivirus and firewall turned off, which was done, but the problem continued.
I phoned again and was told to not only do a clean install but to register the software online. Registration is separate to activation and requires personal information that I am not particularly happy giving to a commercial company, but in this case I did. The software continued to ask for activation after external drives were used.
External drives are commonly needed to back up data files and transfer large video files, so it appears that this software will fairly quickly become unusable for many people who need to use external drives.
I use other much more expensive software that requires activation, but does not have this problem. I am returning this software for a refund.
This Nuance product (you can add/delete/edit fields) is similar to the Adobe Acrobat 7 that I used to use with Windows XP, but which predates Windows 7. I used the Nuance product to convert a .pdf to a .doc file, and I was amazed that the bullets were real bullets and the .doc looked exactly like the .pdf. I had tried that a few years ago with PaperPort, TextBridge, OmniPage or some software that did a terrible job, and it could not even keep the fonts consistent, with random italics and splitting up paragraphs. It did this great job with a .pdf created from a Word document. I have noticed some inconsistencies in Converter Pro 7 with scanned documents but not .pdfs created directly from Word.
I used the "FormTyper" command to create a fillable PDF from non-fillable PDF file. It created a fillable text area above each line to be filled in on the form. It used a default text size that was comparable to the size of the other text on the document. There was no box around the text field and no visible, printing underline. The only line it missed was a 2-character underline on a form -- it was too short. It will create a field if there is a horizontal line going margin-to-margin across your page, but those are easy enough to delete. On check box lists it was able to replace the form's box with a pdf check box.
Another useful feature is the ability to manually select the order of fields when tabbing through a document. Each field will show it's order onscreen, and you can double-click on the one you want to be first and single-click on the rest. It automatically renumbers the subsequent fields. From what I recall from Acrobat 7, you could select a top-to-bottom or left-to-right, but not individual field order.
Hints:
Try this in the pull-down menus: Edit > Preferences > General > Scanner setup > deselect "Display scanner dialog box" and choose your default options. Next time you scan, the program skips Microsoft's scan options dialog box and uses your settings. This saves me a lot of time and frustration.
In Microsoft Word (and probably other programs), if you print your document using the pull down menu created by Converter Pro 7, the program will create your document's table of contents with actual links to the pages in the pdf. If you simply use Microsoft's print command and select either Docucom PDF Driver or ScanSoft PDF Create (the two printers that Converter Pro 7 installs), then you get a simple .pdf without the indexing/linking. This assumes that you are an advanced Word user who is able to create a table of contents using Word's styles/headings feature.
Bugs:
It will not let you use Ctrl+Ins and Shift+Ins for copy and paste, and you get a tilde "~" character instead of the copied text string. You have to use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V instead, or right click menu to copy and paste. Also if you start to type information in a field and it matches previously-typed info, a box pops up and lets you select the entire prior-used strings whose initial characters match what you are typing. It's a little tricky to type in what you want if you don't want to use the prior-used string, because tab or enter sometimes selects the first recommended prior string to complete what you were typing, and you only wanted what you typed in the field. You can turn off auto-complete in the Edit > Preferences > Forms menu.
After several months of use, one day I noticed my computer running very slow. I checked Windows's Task Manager, and program called PdfPro7Hook.exe was using 50% of the CPU. Then when I started the PDF Converter Pro 7 main program, another instance of PdfPro7Hook.exe started, and you guessed it, the 2 instances were using 100% of the CPU and the computer locked up. The Nuance technical support punk told me to manually end the program in Task Manager. Someone who was not as familiar with computers as me may have ended the call there, but I knew better. Sure, like I wanted to do that every time I started my computer, because when you install the main program, PdfPro7Hook.exe always runs in the background, even though it is not in the Startup folder. Then the punk refused to help because I run Windows on a Mac. Troubleshooting on my own, I noticed that if I ended the PdfPro7Hook.exe process in Task Manager and manually double-clicked on the PdfPro7Hook.exe program icon, PdfPro7Hook.exe would run with 0% CPU being used. PdfPro7Hook.exe is used to verify that you have a legitimate copy of the main program, and if it is not running, the main program will leave a watermark on your .pdfs that you are using an evaluation version of the software. I placed a shortcut in the Startup folder, and when I restarted my computer I had 2 instances of PdfPro7Hook.exe running, one at 50% and the other at 0%. My work-around was to move PdfPro7Hook.exe up one directory, into the "Nuance" folder under Program Files(x86) folder, and place a shortcut to PdfPro7Hook.exe at its new location in my Startup folder in the Start Menu. Now only one instance of PdfPro7Hook.exe runs at a time, it starts automatically when I start my computer, and uses 0% CPU.
Bonus program:
I got a free copy of PaperPort 12 from Nuance's website with ordering PDF Converter 7 Professional. But I don't know if I'm going to install PaperPort, because I have never seen a product matrix to tell me that it does anything that PDF Converter 7 Pro cannot do.
Why I chose this over Adobe:
I decided to pick this up since I could not install Adobe Reader on my Win7 system. I have an Apple Mac mini running Windows 7 under Boot Camp. After buying and using the Nuance software, I decided to try to install the Adobe Reader anyway, because I was still within Window's free phone support period, just in case I had a similar problem with another piece of software in the future. Windows support did try to help me with the install problem, and later scheduled a joint phone call with Adobe, but Adobe refused to support their free reader and told Microsoft that I should buy one of their products if I want support, so the joint phone call never happened. - Pdf Editor - Pdf - Pdf Conversion - Pdf Reader'

"The Blood-Horse" covers more international racing news than its weekly rival, "Thoroughbred Times," but usually only the group 1 races in Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and Dubai. There would be no South American coverage at all if trainer Ron McAnally didn't take the occasional trip down south and skim off the cream of the crop, e.g. Candy Ride and Pasaena, and return triumphant to California. The 'stakes winners' section in "The Blood Horse" is much more readable than the stakes results in "Thoroughbred Times." All of the graded stakes are covered in depth. The stakes conditions are listed, along with the order of finish. There are several paragraphs on the winner and (usually) his/her breeding background, a complete race record of the winner, a four-generation pedigree, the sire's racing and breeding statistics, and the dam's racing, breeding, and sales statistics. This is a very satisfying ten or so pages for those of us that like to pore over Thoroughbred genealogies. Non-graded stakes are covered in less detail.Steve Haskin, one of the best writers in the Thoroughbred business has a weekly column, usually on New York stakes results, although in my most current issue his byline is attached to "This Businessman is Special," an article on trainer Todd Pletcher who "recently shattered Syl Veitch's all-time record for victories at a Saratoga meeting." Haskin also does a long-running series on the Kentucky Derby contenders each spring.(Speaking of Todd Pletcher, why do so many good Thoroughbred trainers seem to have prematurely white hair? Does it come from all those photo finishes, or from all of those promising young horses who never do anything on the track?)Along with the lead article on Pletcher, the 09/13/2003 issue of this magazine has features on the installation of slot machines at Louisiana Downs, news and analysis of several Fall yearling sales, "Triple Crown Showdown"--a look back at the Marlboro Cup that pitted Seattle Slew against Affirmed, and an article on leading owner Michael Gill. Shorter 'dispatches' cover such topics as the California recall election (evidently Governor Gray Davis has vetoed several bills of interest to Thoroughbred owners), and the recently released book, "Why America Slept" that ties a deceased Saudi Thoroughbred owner with the 9/11 terrorists. Here is a sampling of some of the standard lists/departments in each issue of "The Blood-Horse:" "Healthwatch;" "Leading Sires of 2003;" "Leading Freshman Sires;" "Stud News;" "What's Going on Here" and "Final Turn" (editorials); "Sales Results;" and "Newcomers." This weekly magazine is printed on slick paper and the photos (even the ones in the advertisements) are gorgeous. Subscribers also get lots of extra reading material, including special Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup issues, the yearly Stallion Registry, and "Stakes Conditions." Blood-Horse
For living in a state where finding someone who enjoys horse racing as much as I do is about as easy as trying to find a needle in a haystack. This magazine has helped me stay in touch with racing around the country. It tells me the results of each weeks races, and makes it easy to follow a horse and trainer. I have attempted to read The Thoroughbred Times on a few occassions, and perhaps its just the size of the magazine which has kept me from ever fully reading an issue. However, every issue of The Blood-Horse I can get my hands on, I have read cover to cover.
The Blood Horse is an absolute must for race horse fans. The coverage of all major stake and prep races is beyond compare. The photography is wonderful! I especially like the coverage of all the breeders cup and triple crown races. The extras included with the subscription are a plus, such as the book of sires that is published once a year with stud fees and progency. Every issue has a feature articule that covers a different aspect of racing. The best $90 you will ever spend on a magazine subscription. A must if you own or are thinking of owning a race horse.
If you have any interest at all about Thoroughbred racing & breeding, this weekly magazine is for you.
The Blood-Horse has an excellent layout, beginning with several pages of photos and general interest items that are in a newspaper-styled format. The magazine then drives into several weekly features, including sire listings for the year and an editorial, along with a lengthy story that covers one segment of the industry.
The recaps from tracks are extensive, with an emphasis on the breeding angle. The last-page editorial is hit-and-miss, but - more times than not - interesting.
Magazine subscribers are also updated through a daily, on-line service. There are several additional magazines/books that come with the subscription.
With Thoroughbred coverage almost non-existent in other sports publications, The Blood-Horse is a fantastic source from gate-to-wire.

Mud Pie Birthday - first birthday girl, birthday hat
This album is only 4X6 and it should be clearly stated. I was a little bit disappointed in the size, but it is very cute and will fit in your purse so you can carry it with you for bragging purposes. It matches my daughter's birthday decor and outfit perfectly which can also be found on Amazon. Mud Pie Baby Birthday Pink Chiffon Photo Album, Cupcake
I think this photo album is very cute. I was hesitant to purchase after reading some of the negative reviews, but I am happy with it for pictures of my daughter's first birthday. It matches the outfit she wore and the cupcake themed party.
I was very dissappointed in this photo album and found the quality that of a dollar store item! I would NOT recommend this item to anyone and had wanted it as a gift for my daughter and was too embaressed to give it to her. - First Birthday Girl - Birthday Hat - 1st Birthday - Mud Pie Bib'

I am 42 years old. Not a gym junkie and didn't have the first clue how to go about getting back the body I had before 2 kids. This is truly everything you need to lose weight, get in shape and feel great about yourself. It has the workout rountines and the menu plan all laid out for you. There is no guess work. It is written in simple terms even I could understand.
I love the fact that this book is spiral bound-especially since this book has so many pages. Makes it really easy to bring to the gym and USEABLE! I can lay it on the floor and follow along.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a piece of their youth back! Weight Training Workouts and diet plan that Work
I did his "Workouts that Work" book religiously and it was the best easiest way to get in shape ever. I dance, do yoga and walk a lot but was never totally in shape until I lifted weights. I like having a guide at the gym so I can just check off what I did and forget about it. The diet portion of this is easy too. No recipes or complicated scheme. Just making sure to eat more often with protein in each small meal. I'm looking forward to getting back in great shape and getting strong with this great book.
This is the third book I have bought from this author and I would not hesitate to buy additional books from him. I have several weight training books but this one is the simplist to follow and understand. Although you probably won't get a Mr. Universe body from his workouts, you will definitely get toned (which is what most of us are looking for) and it gives you detailed info and pictures on each exercise. Great book for men and women alike. I can definitely see and feel body definition I never use to have.
This book summarizes a few very simple but important rules about diet and exercise that really do work! What I love about this book is that it doesn't have too many words or long explanations. It just gives you helpful information that you can start using RIGHT AWAY! It lays out a 12 week daily menu and workout plan. All you have to do is follow the plan as closely as you can. It is that easy! I love the ease of mind the book has given me because I do not have to think or plan very hard what to eat and what to do for exercises because it is all laid out for me already. I just open the book and do what it says. The index includes full descriptions with pictures for each exercise prescribed, so if you are new to weight training rest assured that this book alone is all you will need to get into it. Also, the book is spiral-bound so it lays flat and stays on the right page for ease of reference when you take it to the gym with you.
The hardest part for me getting started with this was overcoming the fear of "looking stupid" or feeling out of place as a woman doing free weights where usually I see only big, strong, guys working out. But I just did it anyway, and before long I was no longer worried about looking stupid because I am looking so GOOD now! After having my two kids I thought I'd never get my figure back. I am only in the third week of this plan and I am looking better than ever! I can actually see my abs again! Realize that results will vary, but have faith and stick with it, before long you are bound to see results too.
Also, I have noticed a marked improvement in my mood and energy by abiding by the principles outlined in this plan. Eating every 2-3 hours and having a protein source with every meal has kept my brain and body supplied with the nutrients that it needs to function well, and my moodiness, anxiety, and mild bouts of depression have all diminished almost entirely. Not only am I looking great, I am feeling great too--and all this without ever having to feel hungry, or count calories!
If you are looking for help getting back into shape, look no further--buy this book and follow it! You have nothing to loose but unwanted body fat, and you stand to gain beautiful lean muscle, an improved mood and energy, and healthy eating habits for life.
I'm a 62 year old retiree who stopped my workouts 3 years ago, ate all the wrong food, put on 40 pounds and 3 pant sizes. I bought the book and followed the author's workouts to the xnth degree. As I complete my 11th week...I've lost 30 pounds and two pant sizes and have never felt better. I did not however follow the author's diet plan because I thought it to be too rigid of a diet for a person of my age - I joined Weight Watchers instead. I highly recommend the book to anyone who seriously wants to lose weight, body fat, and inches. I will definitely keep up with my workouts after week twelve using the routines from this book. Buy it!
This is the third weight training exercise book that I have used from James Orvis, the first was Weight Traing Workouts That Work (WTWTW) and then WTWTW Volume II. Each book is very well organized and easy to use. These are well thought through workouts that systematically go through each muscle group using muscle confusion. Because each workout is carefully scripted, it takes much of the decision making out of the effort. I greatly appreciate this element because it helps speed me through the workout. The book has pictures for each exercise that answer any questions of technique. There is enough information to get the most out of your exercise effort while avoiding information overkill. Other exercise books I have purchased spend too much time trying to turn the reader into a personal trainer. Those books have been relegated to a secondary role in my routines as I use them only to supplement the exercise routines in WTWTW. I went through each of the first two book's twelve week programs three or four times before moving on the next book, each time increasing weight and at times supplementing additional exercises for areas I wanted too emphasize. The third book increases the intensity of the workouts and adds more emphasis on diet and nutrition that is a helpful next step.
After I started using WTWTW, my wife tried it and found she enjoyed the workouts. She and her girlfriends now use these books as the core of their exercise routines. This is an excellent series of books if you want to improve your muscle tone and fitness level. I think James Orvis has put together a very useful, practical and effective series with WTWTW and have recommended it to many of my friends. - Bodybuilding - Rippletoad - Kindle - Formatting Problems'

Full Size Aluminum Griddle - coleman grill, accessories
We were undecided relative to purchasing the full size griddle or its family member the half size. We decided to purchase the full size as we at times camp with our daughters family which includes our two grandchildren and son-in-law for a total of six people.
The griddle works extremely well for our family of six. We were able to fit an entire pound of Oscar Meyer thick sliced bacon on the griddle at once. There was no crowding the slices which allows one to easily tend to the bacon during the cooking process. The slices fit with room to spare, as mentioned there was no crowding and over lapping of the slices.
The grease channel of the griddle is large enough to accommodate the drippings of the entire pound of bacon. However the channel was filled to the upper edge of the rim once we removed all of the bacon from the griddle.
Coleman did not include instructions as how to position the griddle on the RoadTrip grill. Therefore the question is; should one place the grease channel to the front of the grill, or rear? After some fiddling around we noticed the griddle fits the RoadTrip better with the grease channel placed to the rear of the grill.
A word of caution here, place your RoadTrip Grill on aslevel of ground as possible. If not you will have grease possibly running in a direction you would not desire.
Example: the front of your griddle; there is no channel to catch grease build up/run-off therefore it would not take very much to have hot grease running down the front of your grill onto the ground or possible your feet. The front of the griddle only has a very low rim which will not catch any build up or run-off of grease.
Surprisingly cleanup of the griddle is a breeze with just paper towels (plenty of them). We cleaned ours immediately after preparing the bacon so we could use it to cook what turned out to be some of the better and easiest to prepare cheese omelets we have enjoyed.
If you do not have a need for cooking for a gang of people I would recommend purchasing the half size griddle for your RoadTrip. We plan to purchase the half size griddle for use when it will be just the wife and I camping and for use at home. In addition, storage of the full griddle may be an issue for some as we all know space while camping is at a premium. Coleman RoadTrip Full-Size Aluminum Griddle
After buying this griddle we took a week-long camping trip during which we made pancakes, french toast or omelletes and bacon or sausage and hash browns every morning. This griddle is fantastic! Nothing stuck to the no-stick surface and it was a breeze to clean up. The built-in grease catch allowed us to keep our RoadTrip grill spotless, the aluminum made it lighter to carry and quicker to heat up (using less propane), and the size was perfect for our grill. It even fit inside the Coleman carry-case designed for our grill. We're absolutely delighted with this griddle and, for the very first time, are happy to give this product our highest recommendation.
We bought this griddle, which states it is for use with all Coleman Road Trip grills, for our larger-size Coleman Road Trip Pro Grill SS
Coleman Road Trip Pro Grill SS
First, we confirmed that, although this griddle is smaller and fits the smaller Coleman Road Trip Grills, such as
Coleman 9949-750 Road Trip Grill, Red
Coleman 9941-768 Road Trip Grill (Blue)
this griddle would still work in the larger grills. (The one-sided pieces available for the smaller grills, will not work in the larger Road Trip grills.)
Instructions that came with the griddle said to not use it with other grilling surfaces, so we took out the grate, and after some maneuvering, found that the best placement is toward the front (with the fat catcher toward the front), with the small legs resting on the heat tents. We cannot close the grill lid while using the griddle, but this isn't necessary - the grill is plenty hot enough, set just slightly above medium.
The first time I used this griddle, I was amazed. No other griddle I have ever used (ESPECIALLY the electric griddle I have inside), produces the even heating of this one. The bacon came out excellent, each of the six slices (1/4 pound) heating evenly, placed wide across the griddle face. The bacon was fatty, and the grease catcher filled approximately 1/4 to 1/3 full (the griddle was at a very slight slant toward the grease catcher), so was fully capable of holding up to a pound without overflowing.
I followed with an omelet for my husband and two eggs over-easy for myself. Even though the griddle was at a slight slant, the eggs only slightly started running, but because the surface so evenly heated, I was able to just touch them with my spatula and they did not run further.
It was the best breakfast of its type that we have had. Our electric stove (appliance)inside does not heat our anodized, nonstick, even-heating pans as evenly as the Road Trip Grill with the Aluminum Griddle. I look forward to more great breakfasts from this awesome griddle and highly recommend it to anyone with any of the Coleman grills on which it can be used.
This griddle is decent overall, but there are definitely areas that could use improvement.
Pros: Heats up quickly, good smooth cooking surface, lightweight, easy to clean surface.
Cons: Grill cover cannot close when using this, non-stick coating comes off easily (do not use metal tools on this), grill has to be almost perfectly level to prevent liquids (like eggs or batter) from trickling off.
Overall: I'm surprised this is a Coleman factory product, especially since they didn't factor in the grill cover closing. The jury is still out on whether the grease trap is helpful or not, since it pools everything without letting it drip into the grill's basin where the rest of the grill's grease goes. You'll have to clean that out manually. It cooks well though, but I'm wondering if it would have been a better option to buy two half-griddles for basically the same price, so I could have had the option to use another accessory at the same time when necessary. - Accessories - Coleman Grill - Griddles - Full Size Griddle'

3m Particulate Filters - 3m particulate filters, 3m mask filters
I got these for my 3M masks I use for shooting automotive solvents.
These last for a good 40 hours of continual use, or up to a month of non-use. These things are great for filtering any airborn solvents. I trust highly in the 3M name and these didn't let me down.
Amazon's pricing is much better than your local paint store.
Great buy. 3M R5P71 Particulate Filter P95, 10-Pack
This wasn't really a product that you would review but it is what I needed for my 3M respirator. I couldn't find them in a retail store but easily found them here. I received what I orderd and in a very timely manner. - 3m Mask Filters - 3m Particulate Filters'

Samsung Led - samsung, 1080p
This TV is absolutely stunning. I was actually waiting for the C9000 to come out, but that TV's price is way over the limit. I found out that this TV which is the next step down and actually has the exact same technology as the C9000 minus the touchscreen remote (which can be bought seperately) and the slim profile, not a big deal considering the TV already looks beautiful and is half the price or less then a C9000!
In all honesty, I think this TV has one of the nicest pictures I've ever seen. One example is the pin-point dimming, which has garnered a lot of criticsm and skeptisism. I have seen the production TV model live and I must tell you, I think it's better then local-dimming and I'll tell you why... Unless there is a new panel that is made to fix the local-dimming "halo affect", this is currently the only way to get outradgeous contrast levels without that problem. The pin-point dimming on this TV dramatically lowers the dark spots on the screen in certain area's without a halo affect and actually goes completely pitch black when watching movies with dark screens just like a local-dimming TV. I think this TV actually excels at the dimming part over a local-dimming TV because it creates supurb black levels without any halo affects. That's a huge deal for me. Next is the color accuracy of this panel, I think the whites and colors on this TV are probably better then I've ever seen. Sure Plasma's can sometimes have better color temperatures, but they will not pop out of the screen with ambience like this TV shows. This TV is sharp looking and beautiful and it displays wonderful 3D and High-definition like never before.
Last, but not least... this tv is LOADED with features, easily making it one of the most feature rich TV's there is on the market. It's completely wireless, has 4-hdmi conenctions, has internet applications and streaming capabilities and best yet, it does it well! I have done a lot of research and have compared this TV with it's newest competitors and this one is it. Don't just take my word for it, go see it for yourselves and you'll just see what I am talking about. Samsung UN46C8000 46-Inch 1080p 3D 240 Hz LED HDTV
I just got the TV a couple of weeks a go and decided to post my first review ever on Amazon, as well this is the largest purchase I've made. This is my first LCD purchase in a while, I've had a Pioneer Plasma that I've loved forever, but just moved to Boston and left the Pioneer back home. The picture is extremly clear, almost too clear, sometimes I feel like the TV shows are live action TV, which takes a bit to get used too. The features seem great. I read through some of the comments, I'm pretty sure the C8000 doesn't have WIFI, as it wasn't an option, but I had ethernet right behind the TV so I didn't dig super deep. The Internet options are great, can't wait to try netflix out. The Yahoo gadget bar is cool and the Internet TV seem great, first time I've had these options on a TV.
I watched the masters in 3D, pretty cool, but your eyes get tired pretty quick, active 3D makes your eyes work more than passive 3d IMHO. I'm stuck with crappy comcast in my new building, so no 1080P coming through for other channels. I did the 3D combo and got monsters vs aliens. Wife and I watched a bit of it to check out the 3D. Way better quality than the Masters in 3D, but to be honest when I remember watching HDTV for the first time versus Standard TV, that leap was way bigger than from HDTV to 3DTV, maybe when more content comes out. I was hoping to get Avatar 3D, but those jerks are going to wait a year before releasing it. But atleast Comcast has the 3D Channel, maybe they will do more events in the future.
TV is beautiful, nice and thin. One comment about the C9000 it won't support the pin-point dimming, so the C8000 is Samsungs best picture TV. That touchscreen remote can be purchased, but it won't allow you to watch TV on the remote with the C8000 like the C9000 does.
Setup was simple, haven't really dug deep into the features. Sound is OK, but then again I'm used to my home theatre. Does extremely well with the glare and I haven't mounted it on the wall and I'm using the standard stand, comes in handy to turn it slighty to get the glare from the sun out of the picture.
One more thing the 3D mode has some ghosting, I wonder if that will be fixed over time. I do think it is worse when your eyes get tired though. I don't mind the glasses, but I wouldn't wear them in public ;-)
If you are getting a new TV, go for this one, don't be put off by the 3D as a gimic, all TVs are going to ship with them, I don't think you are paying a premimum for the HD. I still love my Pioneer Plasma, the thing is 6 years old and still has a great picture, but this is way better than the two Sharp LCDs I own, espicially the one I dropped and broke the screen on.
Being an electronics buff, I hold a high standard to quality. This Samsung UN46C8000 is amazing. Picture quality is the best I have ever seen. From the quality remote to the stand this television is the set for you. After it was programmed and user preferences were set, the first HD channel was a golf tournament on Golf Channel HD. Truely breath taking!!! My other HD sets are Plasma ranging from 58 to 32 inches. This is the first LED television I have owned. Being one inch thick, weighing in at 55 lbs it was very easy to handle. The picture quality on non 3D broadcast makes it look like a modified 3D. I have never seen anything like it. My wife who could not care the least about technology, was very impressed with the picture quality.
Amazon made the purchasing experience painless with no sales tax and inside delivery. The delivery staff unbox your television, plug it in to make sure it works and are friendly to boot. Last but not least, you will be very impressed. I am very impressed with this next generation of quality. Samsung you definitely got this one right!!!!
Update:
All of the above comments are still true. I have watched my first 3D movie with the glasses and everything worked perfectly. 3D makes movie watching a whole different experience. Only one major problem...Other than the 3D movie that came with the free Samsung glasses, there are no other choices to purchase. 3D Blu-ray technology has not caught up with the 3D televisions. ESPN 3D debuts in June on Directv. The All Star game will be telecast in 3D and the College Football National Championship game will be in 3D. The television had software update available at the Samsung website. It was easy to update. The television was manufactured on March 30, 2010 and the software upgrade was available on April 15. The 3D Blu-ray DVD player also had an update. Not difficult to perform but a little surprised. - 240hz - Samsung - Led Tv - 1080p'

Yoga Pants - fitness, yoga pants
I'm 5'10 and have a 34" inseam and these pants are perfect. Even after I washed AND dried them they didn't shrink up like nearly every single one of my other yoga pants have done. They still come down below my ankles but not too long. I'm buying more now. BELLA 810 SPANDEX YOGA EXERCISE WORKOUT PANTS BLACK SMALL
I liked these pants so much I went back and got a second pair. I bought my usual size. The flare at the bottom is flattering, makes them look like pants more than leggings. I like how they are a close fit on the thighs, not as baggy as sweatpants. I wear these hiking as well as for yoga
These are nice yoga pants. The fabric is thinner than my Danskin yoga pants, but not too thin. Do check the sizing chart for this item, though. According the chart, a Small is a 2/4 and a Medium is a 6/8, which is different from most manufacturers. I am 5'11", 135 lbs, and usually a size 6. I bought the mediums and they fit fine, including the length, but I definitely wouldn't want them any smaller. I suggest ordering one size up, and if you are between sizes, I'd go up another size rather than down.
I read the reviews about these and was worried about them running a bit snug and being long, but I decided to order them anyone because of all of the positive reviews about the fabric and the comfort. I have to say that I am not disappointed.
I bought these in black and as soon as I opened them I could see why everyone loves them! They are a heavy weight knit that has a lot of stretch. The fit is snug, but it's a good snug that I think makes the pants look and feel great, like the hug your body but don't restrict movement. The thing I like most is that the material doesn't stretch and feel loose like other yoga pants have in the past.
I'm 5'7" and wear a size 8/10 right now. I bought these in a large rather than the medium I usually wear in yoga pants (because yoga pants are generally loose) and they are the perfect size for me though they are a bit long. I like a 33" inseam because I like my pants to dust the ground when I'm wearing my shoes (34" if I'm wearing heels). These fit like a 34" inseam though I haven't measured them and the description says 31" for a medium. The length doesn't really bother me at all with shoes on, though if I am wearing them for working out with bare feet I try to be aware of whether or not I am standing on them if I need traction. So far, this hasn't been an issue in yoga / pilates classes. For those who are shorter than I am, I would say that if you are willing to have them tailored, they are worth it. If not, you will likely be unhappy with the product.
I have already ordered a second pair in navy and expect to be buying more in the future.
ordered these for gym pants. Nice length. I am 5'5" but have to buy things for someone who is 5'7", because I have long legs, and these were perfect. The material is thin though, we shall see how long they last.
I gave this product 4 stars because the pants are clearly very high quality and durable. I'm just not sure they're very true to size. At 5'4" and 118 lbs, a size small should fit great, but sheesh, are these things SNUG! I'd advise to be wary of drying them till you've tried them on and see how they fit on you. I figure if I hang these to dry I can use them. A bit of an inconvenience, but the pants seem to be really durable, so I'll deal with it. - Fitness - Yoga Pants'

Projection Clock - birds, bedroom alarm clock
I though I finally found an alarm clock that had all the features I wanted:
Dual alarm
Weekend/weekday
Projection
Two axis projection rotation (so you can project on wall or ceiling)
Projection in red (so it's not too bright like blue)
Decent design
And then, I find out that the projection turns itself off after 10 hours! Why? What's the point? Why would I want the projection to be off after 10 hours? If I want it off, I would turn it off! The whole point is to see the time by just opening your eyes. Now I have to turn the damn thing on every time before I go to bed. And if I forget, I have to turn around, press the button and then see the time. Again, what's the point?!
And if this is to save energy, the life of the LED or reduce heat dissipation, can't you coordinate the projection off with the time of day? There is a built-in clock righ there!
Also, the Alarm Off button is burried in a row of 9 identical buttons. Couldn't you put a dimple on the damn thing so I know which button to push without having to look it up every morning? Or at least put it at the beginning of that row of buttons! Sony ICF-C717PJ Clock Radio Projects Current Time and Alarm Settings In Red Onto Wall Or Ceiling (Silver)
The product is good, the dual alarm works perfectly and the reception of the radion is excellent. The bird singing alarm is great too. The only drawback is the projection not strong enough. At complete darkness works perfectly well but if there is a bit of daylight i.e. after 7:00 in the morning, you can hardly see the projection unless you cover the windows with thick curtain
I really want to LOVE this alarm clock.
It has everything I need and a few things I didn't know I needed but really like:
- An adjustable projector that looks great on the ceiling or the wall at any angle
- Back-up battery so I can move it around the room without loosing my alarm settings
- Automatically sets time (you just have to tell it what time zone) and adjusts for daylight savings
- Alarm starts as a light beep that slowly intensifies as it goes unchecked (nice as it's not jolting me out of bed first thing, but won't let me ignore it either)
- Projector has an indicator that shows if the alarm is on or not
- Snooze button adjusts snooze time from 10 minutes to 60 minutes quickly and easily (nice for those foggy, not quite ready to get up yet mornings)
- SUPER SLEEK looking, this clock is beautiful and feels very nice. The clock display light is a pretty blue that is adjustable between bright, sorta bright and off. This is good as the pretty bright blue light (while pretty) will shine right through your lids.
A few things that I don't really like:
- I don't use the radio and the antenna cord is pretty long and messy looking. Maybe I just haven't figured out where it's supposed to go though? The MP3 cable fits nicely away into a hollow under the clock, surely this one does too?
- The reset alarm button is in the middle of a bunch of other identical buttons which can make it hard to find in the morning(especially if it's still dark!). Solved this problem with a bit of clear nail polish on the button, but a bump or some other identifying feature would be nice.
But what really irritates me about this clock?
The 10 hour limit on the projector light.. This drives me nuts! I would sincerely appreciate if some tech savvy individual figures out how to disable this feature and post their finds, as I would really prefer it stayed on all the time. My husband and I sleep at different hours and if I turn the projector on when I go to bed, it has turned itself off before he is out of bed. Seriously frustrating having to get up to press the projector button all the time. I thought we bought a projector clock so we -wouldn't- have to get up to see the time..
That said, while it feels silly having to turn the projector on each night and morning, I still love the clock. All the good stuff outweighs remembering to press the button, but I would have given it a five if it had the option to disable that 10 hour projector limit.
The display lighting is pretty both on the clock face and the ceiling projection. At night, you can turn the face light off for a dark room and the ceiling display stays crisp and clear.
Two big problems with this clock:
1. They put a 10 hour timer on the projection then it will turn itself off.
2. The thing between the numbers on the ceiling display BINKS! This is not a calming thing to look at!
I wish they would take away the blinking and the 10 hour time limit. It would be nice is the room temperature would also be on the ceiling display.
Came back to add a few things after using the clock a few nights. The numbers in the display face should be a bit more defined and you can't even see the temperature numbers unless you are pretty close.
The speaker sound quality should be better from a product with the name "Sony" on it. Shame, shame!
The soothing sounds would be super fantastic if the speakers were better quality and for heavens sake... KILL the seagulls screaming in the ocean wave sound will ya? It's suppose to be night time and we are suppose to be sleeping! Birds are suppose to sleep at night! If a bird starts singing around my house at night I'm outside throwing rocks at the tree~! Please! Just give me calming, ocean waves without the screaming birds? Because the speakers aren't that great, the rain sounds like hissing. The "under water" sound is ok so that's the one I use.
I would be willing to pay good money if someone would invent the perfect projection clock with quality, soothing sounds to help me be able to sleep.
This is a great radio alarm clock. It is small, silver and sleek. The time projection is clear and you can project the beam on the ceiling or a wall. Lots of features and good radio reception. The only thing that could be better is that there are some controls that are a bit awkward. I would buy this clock for anyone. Great gift. - Bedroom Alarm Clock - Projection Clock - Birds - Clock Radio'

Short Socks - whales, short socks
I loved these socks until they wore on the bottom of my foot where the stripe is. The stripe is thinner material than the plush sock. Bad design. All of the socks in the set are slowly wearing the same way. adidas Women's Cushioned Var 3-Pack Low Cut Sock, Black/White, Shoe Size (5-10)
These socks fit and felt great the first time i wore them. After a few times through the laundry, they have developed these very annoying little bumps on the inside of the heels. They now hurt when I wear them to run in, they are very rough. Terrible materials. I will have to throw them out.
I didn't have any problems with these socks. They fit comfy and are holding up well - much better than I expected for 4 bucks! I didn't have any of the issues that the other reviewers had. The band in the center is an arch support band and is quite comfortable. I prefer socks with the center band - they just seem more comfortable to me.The heel and toe are thicker material than the band, but the band is not wearing out or wearing thin or anything like that. Most socks with the center band are made this way - the band is a different material type or thickness/type of knit.My daughters use these for sports and they are holding up very well to vigorous wear and being washed often in bleach etc. I use them for just regular everyday socks and I like them. They are comfy. Not loose on the foot and not too tight. They are soft and breathable. They do not ride down into your shoe as you wear them and they do not lose their shape and stretch out after wearing and washing them.Fot the price they are great and I am buying more. - Short Socks - Women - Whales'

Answering Machine - att phone, speakerphone
I needed 2 handsets and an answering machine. After a little online research, I chose this phone. It has lived up to its promise. It was easy to set up, the reception is great throughout the house, and the answering machine part is great too. The sleek design makes it a little tough to prop the phone between the shoulder and ear for a hands free call. I haven't used many of the extra features (like storing phone numbers in the phone), but the little screen is easy to read, and the options menu is easy to navigate. It's a great phone. AT&T DECT 6.0 White/Grey Digital Dual Handset Answering System (EL52209)
I bought this phone for my home office. It has several features that I really like.
-Unlike my last phone, the speaker button turns on and off the speaker phone option.
-It has a mute button which is very helpful for teleconferences.
-It does have a directory, so numbers can be added.
-The batteries in the handsets have a very long charge. So a 2-3 hour call is not a problem.
-I can switch handsets if one runs out of power. If a handset runs out of power, I only have a couple of minutes to find the other handset. So speed is of the essence.
-One option I find lacking is that this phone does not have a night mode where it can be set to automatically turn off the ringer at night.
-Sound quality is good.
-This phone does allow you to select from a set of ringers so it can have a unique ring. I find this helpful in identifying whether it is my house phone or business phone that is ringing.
Overall this phone has been a good choice.
Storing a lot of numbers is nice, and the sound was the best for me out of any cordless phones I have had. I have had problems with other newer phones interferring with my wireless internet router, but not this one. I have a solid dial tone and lighting fast dialing. The intercom feature is great too, now I don't have to yell upstairs to call the kids down.
This is a good, little phone for the price. It has many great features, and the sound quality is good. It's also very neat looking, and it is especially convenient to have the second unit elsewhere in the house.
I feel dreadfully old fashioned for being a landline hold out but if you're looking at this phone, you are too.
This has all the features I needed in a phone. It's cordless, it has an answering machine which is just more convenient for me than voicemail because I can screen calls even if the caller id is blocked, and it has 2 handsets. One of them I keep in my bedroom which doesn't have an outlet on the charger in there, the other one is in the living room.
The volume for the ringers are very easy to set and can be set loudly enough to wake up even the soundest sleeper.
The battery time is decent. It has to be. I have a bad habit of forgetting to put the phone back in the charger. The screens and the buttons are all easy to see and use.
We've had this two-pack for a few months now and both handsets work very well. It's nice having the second set where we don't have to get up while watching tv to check the caller ID. Battery life so far has been good as has sound quality. The menu system for making custom adjustments is pretty straightforward. I do wish that there were some better choices for ring tones. Most are obnoxious but at least we have the volume turned way down. The answerer works well and is very easy to use. Overall, at this point I would buy this product again.
We needed to replace a wall mounted unit with voice recording and two hand sets. This ATT unit met our expectations. The set up was easy, the hand sets are weighty enough and we can talk from our patio, about 50' from the base unit.
I've investigated and read about all what's out there and it looks like nothing is made very well any more. There is just junk to choose from.
I like the larger buttons that are easy to press. There are about 5 or 6 ring styles and the volume can be changed anywhere from lowest to highest. However the sound is not that good as they say. Maybe compared to others it might be better, but overall it's not great. You have to put your ear perectly to the phone or you might not hear well, and the recorded outgoing message voice sounds distorted to the callers. Oh, and getting to even record an outgoing message can be tricky to find on the menu. The battery could last longer too; just 4 days stand-by (no use) is not very good. Also, stored telephone numbers have to be programmed seperately into each handset as there is no way to send info from one hanset to the other. No speed-dial, but that's not a big deal to me.
So the only good thing that the new phones have that the old ones didn't is that they don't get interference from other electronics in the home. But otherwise, like everything else, the quality is less and less... - Answering Machine - Att Phone - Speakerphone - Dect Cordless Phone'
