Screwdriver Set - bits, torx

Initially I needed the T-5 torx bit, but I use this set more and more lately.

The driver part has a metal shaft and a plastic/rubber handle with a swivel top. It is more stiff than I thought, and while not a professional product, I doubt this will break anytime soon. The bits are not standard 5mm bits but a reduced 4mm size, so they are not interchangeable with most drivers.

My set has:

torx 20, 15,10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3

hex (allen) 4mm, 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1.3, 0.9, 0.7mm

flat screwdriver 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1.0

PZ1, PZ0

Philips screwdriver PH1, 0, 00, 000

and the driver. Boxer 30 Pcs 4mm Precision Screwdriver Set

There is a huge variety of bits and they are all magnetical. The case is very durable along with the screwdriver that comes with it. The problem is that the bit tips are very weak and bend REALLY easy. I understand that you should be gentle while using small bits like this, but these tips just hardly have the strength to take out commercial screws and they bend way to easily. They should have coated the tips in something stronger. I probably wouldn't recommend these to a friend.

I bought these tools to remove the screws from a hard drive on a dell notebook. A local computer shop wanted $60 to do the job. The screws are very small phillips head. One of the phillips head tools in this set was small enough, but it couldn't get a good "bite" on the screw. I tried one of the small flat head tools. I twisted that tool. So its lost.

However, I ended up draw filing the original phillips head tool so that it didn't drop so deep into the screw. That worked! These tools did save me almost $50. I would say they are good for light duty work. Good for a hobbist, but not for a lot of serious work.

Not only is there any kind of bit you could possibly imagine, but it comes in a good sized carrying case in which all of the bits snap into, and has a swiveling top so that you can easily use it against the palm of your hand.

I wanted to open up my iPaq handheld device, to repair its speaker. To do so I needed two very small (T5 & T6) torx heads. I have several sets of small screwdrivers, that I have used over the years for many small jobs, but none had a T5 head. So, after looking at various sets on the Internet, I bought this one. I am glad that I did. The case is about 7 inches long, sturdy, with a nice sliding lock. The locks on my other small sets are overlapping bits of plastic that either got so loose that they're useless, or were so tight that when you tried to open the box you had to exert quite a bit of force -- sometimes the darn thing opened so suddenly that the drivers came out. In this case, you slide the lock, and open the box. Simple. The handle and the bits are well-secured in snap-in holders. These work fine but, I suspect, might loosen (or break) with time. We'll see. The red/black part of the handle (see item photo) is about 3.75 inches long -- long enough that (at least in my hand) the top part of the handle sits comfortably in my palm, while my fingers grip further down. You don't feel like you're holding a teeny-weeny tool - it feels quite robust. The top part of the handle rotates, and the lower part (where your fingers grip) is rubberized; these two features make it very easy to control the driver when you are working. The metal part of the handle is magnetized. This not only means that a bit stays put in the handle, it also means that a screw "magnetically attaches" to the tip of the bit. This makes removing & re-inserting these tiny screws so much easier. I used the tool to open up, and re-close, my iPaq - it worked like a charm. My only regret is using those other sets of small drivers for so long. Never again. They're going into the trash. This is a 5 star tool.

I bought these as part of a combo, and they were only a few bucks considering that I was already paying shipping from the seller.

They've got all the itty-bitty torx bits needed for my motorola phones, as well as the tiniest hex bits I've ever seen (anyone know what actually uses a 0.7mm hex drive head?)

There are 2 things I would prefer to be different however. Firstly this is a 4mm drive set, meaning that the only tool I have to hold the bits is the one that came with them. It's not a big deal, but 1/4" drive would have been great (although it would probably encourage overtightening of previously-mentioned super-small bits and would result in breakage).

The second thing I would have liked would have been some tri-wing bits. These bits are used on a good number of electronics and are hard to come by in the super-small sizes needed. In my opinion this kit should replace some of the Philips or Flathead bits with other less common bits as it's pretty easy to find the Philips and Flatheads in very small sizes.

This set is designed well enough, with the exception of the material used for the bits. The phillips bits are OK, but the straight blade screwdriver bits go helical if you try to put any torque on them. The precision screwdrivers I have used from General have (in general) been much stronger. If you need these for more than casual use, my recommendation is to bite the bullet and pay for a better set.

The set is exactly what it claims to be, and is well-made, functional, and well-organized. The driver bits are as described in the listing: several types of screwdrivers, Torx bits, and Allen (hex) bits, in a range of small sizes. The screwdriver bits include flat, standard Phillips and Posi-drive Phillips (a Phillips-head with small wings between the crossed head flanges, for more purchase); the standard Phillps driver can be used on Posi-drive screws, but not the other way around, so you have to look closely to be sure you have the correct bit. The precise sizes are listed; essentially they run from "jeweler's" size to the small end of the normal range. The size is engraved on each bit shaft, though the markings are tiny. (Note: the T6 and T8 Torx sizes, and the small Phillips-heads, are appropriate for the case screws on Mac computers; I have used this set for that purpose, and it works great.) The bits appear to be very well-machined; the heads are precisely cut and well-finished. I cannot speak to the hardness treatment, but they appear to be good quality. The bits are all magnetized, and hold small screws very well while placing them in or removing them from threadholes. The driver is a little larger than usual for "jeweler's screwdriver" sets, but is comfortable and easy to hold. The shaft is steel with a standard hex-sided bit holder; the handle portion is covered in plastic with a rubber gripping surface, and the rotating top piece is also plastic. I was a bit leery of the plastic handle at first, but it seems to work OK. The bits and driver are well organized and easily accessible, in angled slots in a sturdy case with a latch; the case and lid are hard plastic, but not too flimsy. In short, this is a good set that is functional and seems to be well-made; it is an excellent deal at the price. - Precision - Torx - Bits - Screwdriver'

Point And Shoot Camera - a230, sony

My title is rather pessimistic, I know, but I've been playing with this camera now for a couple of hours, so I've had a chance to get a feel for what consumers are going to probably like, and not like, about this lens kit.

First, if you are a serious photographer, you are going to be better off buying the body of this camera separately from the lens. It isn't that the 18-55mm, 3.5-5.6 aperture lens is bad: it just isn't great for inside work, as far as I can tell. The kind of "meh" aperture range means you'll struggle a bit in "normal" indoor lighting to get hand-held shots that don't really want flash, and the problem with the flash is it is straight-ahead flash, so that your attempts at head shots are going to potentially have a deer-in-the-headlights quality about them. This will be because even zoomed in to 55mm, you're going to need to be close to a subject for a portrait shot--closer than you really would like to be. Getting the two-lens kit, for a couple hundred dollars more, might be a really good alternative here, because I think the longer telephoto in that kit can go out to 200mm, giving you more flexibility in where you need to stand for shots. I was pretty sure when purchasing the kit that I was going to quickly need a really solid prime to go with it, and the Sony 50mm f 1.4 has already proven itself a valuable addition.

The good news is that, aside from the "adequate-but-kind-of-meh" lens, everything else on this thing mostly rocks! I was a bit nervous because I had seen other reviews in which some reviewers chewed on the ergonomics a bit, but I'm not really finding that to be a problem so far. The battery door, the door to the memory cards, etc., are rigid and open happily and confidently. As far as the battery goes, my advice would be to pick up an extra battery, because after charging mine the first time, I was down to roughly half power without having taken that many photos (maybe 75 RAW out of what I was being told was a 500-image total available. I didn't expect the battery to make it for 500 shots, but it looks like I would have gotten about 150 shots out of the charge, and I can definitely see situations where a photographer would run into trouble from that.)

One thing that may not be immediately obvious from pictures is that the right-hand grip is quite comfortable, and there is a design feature on the back (basically a bit of a "hump" that provides the right thumb a place to get a kind of secure purchase so that you really shouldn't ever feel like the camera is in danger of slipping out of your hand. I always put my left hand under the bottom of a camera anyway, so that I can adjust the focus ring easily, and even though this camera and its lenses have auto-focus, that's still a comfortable place for the left hand.

Many of the features and details of the camera are things that you can find in other reviews or in detail lists for this product, so I won't repeat all of that. I will state that I had no problems with the placement of the shutter button. I had seen some criticism on line suggesting that the reviewer felt like he was putting a lot of stress on a couple of fingers while firing the shutter button, but I really just didn't find that to be the case.

All of the controls are really pretty intuitive. I turned the feature off that shows the pictures of what various things mean. If you are stepping up to a SLR from a point-and-shoot, do yourself a favor and learn what aperture is, and white balance. The joy of this camera is taking a photo with "automatic" settings, and then going to manual, taking the same shot, and realizing how completely screwed up your own sense of the shot is! <smile> Actually, this is kind of valuable, in that the digital nature of the camera means that you (and I) can get a real lesson about what happens when changing aperture or shutter speed, even sometimes by very small amounts.

In many ways, this camera is an ideal camera for a serious hobbyist (I'm not going to go hyperbolic and say "professional," because the limitations of this camera are the sort that wouldn't be tolerated by a professional being pushed to the limits of digital photography. It isn't that a professional shot can't be taken on this camera, but that there are digital bodies that would make a professional's life much easier than the a230 would).

It is going to pretty much meet all of my needs for awhile, at least with the better lens on the front, and maybe a really good zoom to give me a bit more range of options.

The build quality seems fine to me. Nothing is jiggling. Lenses go on and off with no problems. Definitely buy the LCD cover that's available from Amazon. Otherwise, you'll discover that basically everything smudges the LCD display. It isn't the end of the world, but your nose will constantly be pressed against the display, so there will always be a bit of oil and moisture smudged on, otherwise.

This isn't a bad camera at all, and if you are JUST looking for a system that will give you some flexibility to take "normal" shots of the variety that other people make you sit through after they've fed you dinner, then you are going to be immediately happy. The camera will do many of the things that you need for it to do automatically, and can easily take better shots than you would take, if you knew nothing or little about photography, and had no interest to learn. But like many things, if you DO know something about photography, you will be pleasantly surprised about the sorts of things that you CAN do with this rig, as long as you are willing to make an investment in accessories that will give the body a chance to show its stuff. Sport Radio - pocket radio, walkman

I was looking forward to recieving this to use while working out at the fitness club. I got it but it was bulkier than I thought it would be. The volume control knob continues to come off. It uses up the single AAA battery very quickly. The controls are far more complex than they need to be and the reception is very poor. Sony has built much better smaller units in the past and should produce a high quality one instead of this unit. Sony S2 Sports Walkman Digital Tuning Weather/AM/FM Stereo Armband Radio (White)

So far I am very happy with this product. I have never used any kind of headset before. I am 67 and this is my first Walkman. I was forced to look for something of this kind when a neighbor installed an obnoxious wind chime that sounds off all day long near my back yard. I was looking for something I could wear and listen to while doing yard work. I find the armband radio to be amazingly comfortable, the radio reception is great, and the earpieces are comfortable for hours. I listen to KIXI 880 AM, or the Mariner games on KOMO 1000 AM. I can easily turn the volume high enough to drown out the discordant wind chimes. My only problem with it was a "newbie" mistake -- I put the earpieces on backwards and then wondered why I was not getting any sound out of the left side! I think this Walkman is the answer to my problems. I tried putting it on so that the wires were INSIDE the T-shirt I was wearing, not dangling free in front of me. It worked really well and I can do my yard work without having to be careful about the wires. (I live in the Seattle area)

I bought it for running, (it's the second one I've bought, mostly because the armband velcro wore out) and it is very good for that purpose. Small and light, stays on your arm very well. AM is clearer and stronger than FM but for the most part they are perfect for the way I use them.

This product is great, I got it for my husband's birthday because he wanted to use it while running. He likes the digital format, the headphones are very lightweight and easy to wear, and the armband is wonderful for being active while you listen. This product allows you to digitally set different stations so it's only the touch of a button away if you want to change channels while working out. Highly recommended!

This is my 3rd Sony Walkman. The other 2 haven't stopped working. I got into a bike accident wearing one, and the armband broke off. The other is fine. It's just older. I purchased this one because I thought my older one stopped working when it got soaked in the rain. When it dried, it was fine. There is no comparison between this version and the previous 2. This one doesn't rank at all. I always stayed with Sony because of the reception, but this has horrible reception. The previous 2 Sonys can keep my set FM stations with maybe some fuzz here and there, but it's livable during my workout. This one has more fuzz than anything. I can't workout with it. I had to use the T.V. tuner just to listen to some clarity. The other problem I have with it is the way to get presets. Because they made this a more compact model, they took away the numbered buttons. Now to get a preset, a couple of buttons have to be pressed and it helps to see the tuner screen to see which preset is which. The problem is that I bought this to use for my jogs, and it's too difficult to manipulate the buttons while in constant movement. So I feel that I've wasted my money with this because I can't use it for the exercise purpose for which I bought it.

I love to walk/hike and listen to am/fm radio enroute-it was time to upgrade my over a decade old Sony S2 analog headset radio which has proved to be durable as heck. After research and finding few choices, I read the reviews here of both the Sony S2 SRF-M85W and the Sony SRF-M37W radios. Reviews seemed to favor the M37W even though the S2 85W is newer and more versatile in features-I purchased both to try. My older analog S2 just wasn't able to pick up stations in tree covered hiking trails, and switching channels was a burden-time to move to a digital unit. I've since returned the M37W and kept the Sony S2 85W and found the negative reviews on the S2 just not to be accurate, given the relative low price paid for the product. If you are on the fence, here is why I would choose the Sony S2 M85W over the Sony M37W:

*Both radios operate off of a single AAA battery with ample life, which

is great. Both radios retain settings when changing the battery.

*I found the S2 to put out greater volume with less distortion as you

crank it up, which is value to me as a music lover.

*I won't argue with all of the reviewers who suggest the M37W in their

opinion has better reception/tuner, but I will tell you that I am able

to pick up practically every station I've programmed in my S2 on those

tree covered hiking trails where I was formerly unable to with my old

analog S2. I find the tuner on this digital S2 works great.

*The big difference is that the S2 is far more versatile and comes with

a much better packaging. The S2 has both a belt clip and an armband

that can be attached/detached with ease, the M37W only has a belt

clip. The S2 comes with a headset stylistically matched to the radio

unit that is comfortable and sounds great, the M37W comes with an old

style cheap and muffled sounding over the ear foam headset-you'll have

to spend money to upgrade the M37's headset to get better sound. The

armband the comes with the S2 is easy to put on and take off, and is

of very high quality (it's like one you get with a blood pressure

device). Remember, the S2 can be used either on the belt or with the

band on the arm-YOUR choice.

*The display/interface on the S2 is far superior to that of the M37W.

A major advantage with the S2 when using the armband is that you can

view the stations/band/clock display at a glance instead of blindly

hitting buttons via a belt-attachment. The S2 display has various

viewing modes, and also a timer/split-timer included along with a

useful set of weather channels.

At relatively the same/similar price-the S2 just has so many more features and much greater versatility that for me it was an easy choice over the M37W. Both are very good products, my primary reason to detail here was to counter all of the seemingly negative reviews of the S2-I just don't feel they are warranted given the low price of this product. The S2 seems to be a more current vintage product that

is designed to be used in athletic endeavors as much as casual listening situations-I LIKE that versatility! Love this upgrade over my OLD Sony analog S2-and they have kept the colors and theme very similar. Definitely recommend this product if it fits your niche/needs. - Am-fm - Sony Walkman - Walkman - Pocket Radio'

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - mystery, jude law

First of all, as of this writing, Amazon still states that this item is a three disc set, but this is not the case. The DVD and digital copy are included on the same disc, while a second disc contains the Blu-Ray version. This isn't an issue, of course, just a small clarification. Speaking of which, I've seen a significant number of complaints regarding the inclusion of the DVD/digital copy in the Blu-Ray version, with many complaining that they want neither and it's needlessly driving the cost up.

A simple comparison of this item against other Blu-Rays on Amazon proves this title costs no more than any other new release, and the DVD/digital copy is actually a very nice bonus for those who buy the film early. I, for instance, plan to loan out the DVD to friends who don't own Blu-Ray players. The digital copy is nice, I suppose, but I've never been bored enough to want to watch a film on my iPod or laptop. Besides which, like all digital copies, it expires a year from now. I'm actually glad it's included on the same disc as the DVD, because all other digital copies included on a separate disc I've ended up tossing out.

Upon loading the Blu-Ray into the player three trailers will run. This is, of course, typical practice. The irritating part is that the disc will not allow the user to access the menu from the trailers, and the user is forced to manually fast-forward through each trailer. A minor complaint, to be sure, but irritating nonetheless. The film runs 02:08:24 and the Blu-Ray includes ten bonus features (the DVD doesn't contain a single special feature). The included audio tracks and subtitles are in English, French, and Spanish. The first eight features are all collected in the "Focus Points" section and consist of eight 3-5 minute featurettes exploring a specific facet of the film (there is a "Play All" function included). Most of the titles are rather self-explanatory, but here's a complete rundown of the featurettes:

1) "Drawbridges & Doilies: Designing a Late Victorian London" (5:00) - This feature highlights how the production designers suffused life into their vision of Victorian London with an acute attention to detail.

2) "Not a Deerstalker Cap in Sight" (4:15) - This feature explains how the filmmakers decided to take the Holmes character back to his roots in the original Arthur Conan Doyle tales and compare the Downey interpretation against past cinematic versions of Holmes.

3) "Ba-ritsu: A Tutorial" (3:58) - This feature explores how the filmmakers blended various real-life martial arts into the fictional version featured in the film, along with explaining how Holmes was a former fighter well-versed in martial arts in the original Doyle stories.

4) "Elementary English: Perfecting Sherlock's Accent" (4:04) - This feature explores how American Downey refined his English accent for the film. Director Guy Ritchie observes that he preferred an American because it gives the Holmes character an "international" flavor.

5) "The One That Got Away" (3:44) - This feature delves a bit into the psyche of Holmes, particularly his stance on love and his relationships with women.

6) "Powers of Observation & Deduction" (4:01) - This features Lionel Wigram (writer & producer of "Sherlock Holmes") explaining why he was attracted to the project, along with what makes Holmes such an enduringly fascinating character.

7) "The Sherlockians" (3:03) - The feature explores the diehard, borderline obsessive Holmes fans who organize annual meetings to discuss Doyle's life and works.

8) "Future Past" (3:08) - This feature highlights how, with the aid of both sets and modern technology, the filmmakers were able to recreate the glory and grime of Victorian London.

The ninth feature is included in the "Behind the Movie" section and is called "Sherlock Holmes Reinvented" (14:06) - This is a more involving feature which functions as an extension of the other featurettes. The filmmakers discuss why they felt attracted to the project and how they desired to stay true to the source material, as opposed to the cinematic versions of the past.

The most celebrated special feature here, prominently featured in the television ads, is the "Maximum Movie Mode". This is a sort of interactive film commentary with director Ritchie (running slightly longer than the film itself) that includes picture-in-picture still images, behind the scenes videos, cast and crew interviews, technical details of the film, and of course Ritchie's commentary. It's this sort of feature that truly makes a Blu-Ray special, aside from the enhanced high-definition image, of course. A typical film commentary simply has the director talking over the film, which can be informative but distracting. The "Maximum Movie Mode" is a much more entertaining commentary that even includes the option for user interactivity.

The content of the film itself is highly subjective, particularly with a character as famed and revered as Sherlock Holmes, and I don't feel particularly compelled to add my thoughts. As a Blu-Ray release, however, this title is every bit as impressive as it should be. I particularly appreciate how the special features didn't just shed light on the filmmaking process, but spent ample time discussing Doyle's stories, the various interpretations of the Holmes character, and the lasting legacy of it all. I'm proud to include this film in my collection. Five easy stars. Sherlock Holmes

Whether or not this accurately portrays the Sherlock Holmes from the famous stories is unimportant, at least for me. I wanted to see a good, entertaining film, and that is exactly what I experienced. It is by no means a classic masterpiece, but it was certainly a fun ride. The plot is a tad on the choppy side, but it doesn't deter from whole experience.

The film works beautifully first and foremost because of the wonderful chemistry between Holmes and Watson. It felt pure and believable and watching them argue and bicker for almost the entire film was refreshing and amusing. Jude Law's Watson is the voice of reason and under all the sarcasm and berating, truly cares for his long-time friend. In my opinion, a perfectly cast role. Though I also loved Robert Downey Jr as Holmes, I felt that he muttered alot in the film and was at times hard to understand. But his physical presence saved the role and you can tell he put 100% into this part.

The scenery was gloomy and strangely beautiful, as were the period details, costumes, etc. Guy Ritchie did a fantastic job in reimagining the era and creating a sense of mystery tinged with a clever, comedic flair.

Sherlock Holmes contains enough action, mystery and comedy to keep just about anybody from being bored and would do well with multiple viewings. - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - Jude Law - Mystery - Robert Downey Jr'

Porter Cable Sander - porter cable, porter-cable

Intrigued by the design, I purchased this sander. Overall, I am very pleased with it. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros: Lower center of gravity makes it a delight to use. Feels more natural, like a sanding block. This is a very, very powerful sander, and the constant response motor prevents the sander from bogging down with pressure--no matter how hard or soft you apply pressure to the workpiece, the power is always there. The quick stop feature is a great innovation--you don't need to wait for it to stop or use a "sander sitter". The benefit of all of this is that you get A LOT of sanding done in much less time, compared to other 5 inch orbital units (e.g. Bosch).

Cons: (reason for 4 stars and not 5) Two, that are greatly overshadowed by the PRO's above, but issues nonetheless. The biggest problem is the receptacle for dust collection. It only takes that stupid Porter Cable dust hose that is horribly inefficient due to the small size of the hose. The hose is functional and does suck up dust, but could be better. I had one of these hoses laying around from my biscuit cutter, but it is still a lousy design. Maybe I can Jimmy up some type of setup for a better hose with an adapter.

The next con is that the top of the unit is somewhat broad and a little difficult to "palm" without some hand fatigue, but I am getting used to it. This ergonomic shortcoming is somewhat compensated by less fatigue by the lower center of gravity, but not entirely. The more standard units have a smaller top that is easier to get your hand around.

I would definitely buy the item again. It is a very useful tool. Porter-Cable 390K 5-Inch Low Profile Random Orbit Sander Kit with Hook & Loop Pad and Dust Collection

I just received my orbital sander (Porter-Cable 390K) a few weeks ago. I bought this sander based on a review in one of the recent wood magazines. Removed it from the box, put some sandpaper on it and away I went. I sanded Oak, Pine and Popular. I used 80, 120, 150 and 220 grit sandpaper and was pleasantly pleased with the results. My biggest concern having my shop in the basement was dust. I've got three other orbital sanders and had to do all my sanding outside. But that is not the case any more. I tried the sander with the dust collector on and then with my Shop-Vac. The dust collection in the on board collector was very good just a small amount of dust left on the bench. For very small, short jobs I would use this method. For larger, longer jobs my Shop-Vac will be used, from what I could tell there was no dust left behind (in both cases if I wiped my hand a crossed the board and there was wood dust. The dust I was talking about was on the bench and in the air, boards have to be whipped clean with a tack cloth. This is one of the few electric tools that I can use the Shop-Vac 1¼ "hose with no adapters and it works like a champ. The noise is very low and the vibration was low also. I wear a medium glove (my fingers are a bit short of the ends) and I found this very comfortable to use. I had complete control and the low center of gravity made it very maneuverable. On high speed this was very aggressive, thus the advantages of speed control and a light touch. I would recommend this sander to all. Overall the only problems I see is the little dust left behind with the on board collection system and price (time will tell if the price was worth it). By the way my other sanders are in storage until I need to do sanding outside.

This review comes about after 10 hrs of real world use of the new sander. The best new features are the quick spindown and the variable speed control. I'm a professional cabinetmaker, and I use the sander to sand between finish coats as well as typical usage. The low speed helps control burn through on flat surfaces and narrow edges using 320grit. The low profile and slight increase in power are the second best new features. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the width of the grip. I have an average hand size and it's a bit wide and not what I would call ergonomic. I would have also put the speed control in a easier to reach place, so that I could control the speed with the same hand that I'm sanding with. The ergonomics become more of an issue when a vacuum hose is hooked up to the sander. It's that little extra pull of weight that makes the job more tiring when your sanding for multiple hours. It's also worth noting that the sander vibrates less that the last version and is a couple of decibles quieter that the 333. I would have given five stars if the sander were more ergonomic.

I'm a little baffled by the reviewers who said this sander was difficult to use unless you have large hands. I'm a 5'7", 125 pound gal who has what I think are normal size hands for the rest of me, and I have no problem at all using this sander. It's much lighter and less bulky than the machine I've been using (a Bosch). I work on wooden boats, and I think this is a great addition to the tool closet. The dust port is easy to hook into our existing vacuum system. It's one of the better adapters I've come across. I like that the speed adjustment dial is where it is. I hate turning the sander speed down inadvertently, just in the course of using the machine. This happens regularly with my Bosch and it drives me nuts. If I do want to adjust the speed, it's not difficult do so.

I love the electric brake; it makes changing sanding discs much quicker. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to have quite the guts of the Bosch. I'll have to do some side-by-side tests when I've got some time to play, but my first impression is that it takes a little longer to do what I normally do. I don't understand how this could be, because the amps are comparable, as are the orbits per minute. It's possible that it's so much lighter and less bulky that I just think it's not as aggressive. I have a normal deficit of patience and I have a hard time making myself turn the Bosch down, even when I know I should. So maybe having a slightly less aggressive machine will save me from myself. I know my shoulders like it better.

Hdmi Switch - auto switch, switch

I just installed this switch in order to be able to use one HDMI input on my receiver for both a PS3 and an XBox 360. It worked perfectly, first time. It comes with an AC/DC adapter and a remote, but please note that those are optional-- you only need power if you want to use the remote, as the switch draws power from the HDMI system, so it works just fine as a passive switch (even lighting up the LEDs appropriately to show which device is selected) if you only want to use the on-board "Select" button. Even though I don't use the added items, this 5-input device has turned out to be a great device for a great price.

One other note: HDMI cables are pretty new on the scene. I'm using the really cheap ones (which work just as well as the really expensive ones-- it's digital, people, not analog!), and they fit just fine. I suspect that complaints about cable size and like issues will go away with devices like this one, which is in the mainstream of HDMI specs.

UPDATE - April 2011 - After six months, the switch is still working great. I also want to report that we never have to use the Select button, because the automatic switching works seamlessly. That is, when the PS3 is off and the XBox is on, the switch automatically selects the XBox. Turn off the XBox and turn on the PS3, and the switch, um, switches. No fiddling required. My sons don't even know it's there. HDMI 5x1 5 Port Switch/Switcher with IR Remote Support 3D

The unit worked fine for about 5 days. Switched well via button or remote. A bit erratic in automatic switch mode. Usually switched with DVD and BluRay but not always when the cable box started.

Signal, when working, was strong with no flicker or pixelation. On Day 6 the units simply stopped working. I put a meter on it. Signal-in was strong but no signal-out. I assume that the switch mechanism failed.

Note- this unit does NOT have a power supply. It is powered by the signal strength alone. The description shows a power supply but the package says that none is needed and no supply was in the package. Beware- the unit may have changed since earlier reviews.

This little HDMI device impressed me with its small size, simplicity, & versatility. It enables up to 5 HDMI output devices, say DVD PLayers to feed either auto-sequencially or manually to a single TV/Monitor. I couldn't believe this little unit came with an effective Remote control. Small price, dynamite device; able to hang with the big guys no problem; as good as most of its more expensive & larger counterparts. Recommended .

I bought this with the intention of plugging all 5 of my devices into this switch, but 2 of the 5 devices caused the LED on the product to blink and not output a video signal (specifically, my DVR and OnLive Microconsole). There is no documentation that states what the "blinking LED" might mean, so I do not know exactly why it wouldn't work. For the other 3 devices though it works just as advertised. Came with Remote, IR Sensor, and Power Brick (optional). A hint to buyers, this does not come with an HDMI cable and you will need one to run from the output of the switch to your TV. So if you have 5 devices then you will actually need 6 HDMI cables. Obvious I know, but I forgot and had to wait to order more.

This is a great HDMI switch. I love that it switches between sources automatically, so I never even need to use the remote. Its also very compact which is great as well. Definitely worth the money. I have DirectTV, a PS3, and occasionally my laptop connected to the switch with room to spare.

I bought this to connect multiple HDMI items to my TV. The single HDMI input on the TV was a pain and this switch resolved it.

I needed a switch for three items and while looking I came across this switch. With five inputs it gives me the room to grow.

The auto switching feature is great. It has problems if a connected unit "bleeds" signal. Apparently my DVD does so. At first it was on the first input and the switch did not jump when a new item came on. Putting it on the last input allowed the switch to work properly. Now the cable box is on 1, media PC on 2, and DVD on 5. The moment I turn on the media PC it shows on TV and once it is off the switch goes back to the cable box signal. When it is on the DVD I need to switch it back to the cable box. (but that's not the switch's doing)

This switch, along with another brand I purchased and returned, just did not work. It would not recognize my Blu-ray DVD or my laptop with an HDMI connection. I am now waiting for my 3rd switch to come in; maybe I'll have luck with this one. The only positives, it's small and compact.

I have no complaints. Ok, wait: that was a lie. But, only one. A small one, and it may just be par for the HDMI Switcher course. It auto-switches to the active port quite quickly when a device is powered on for use. My Cable TV is 1, Game console is 2, and Blu Ray player is 3. Switching from 1 to any other is almost instant; but switching back automatically to 1 after 2 or 3 is powered off takes more than five to ten seconds; and sometimes I have to intervene with the provided remote (but only because my wife complains. I can wait ten seconds for TV. /shrug). Not really a big problem, just disappointed. I don't need the AC Adapter at all, and if my wife didn't have such a problem with it, I wouldn't need the IR Sensor.

All in all: it works. If I needed a new one for another room in my house, I would not hesitate to buy another. - Switch - Auto Switch - Hdmi Switcher - Hdtv'

Cordless Presenter - wireless presenter, cordless presenter

Targus was one of the first to release the wirelss optical mouse without the huge base to lug around. Kensington has released one recently but it's pricey. I placed my NiMh batteries in here (highly recommended) and it works great so far! It's small and compact but a bit heavier than most mice because of batteries. I wouldn't say movement is perfect, but satisfactory. The scroll wheel is fine. The mouse I had before was Logitech's popular blue optical wheel mouse. Targus's mini optical wireless mouse is great for laptop users but it isn't the smoothest mouse in the world. It's smooth normally but if you leave it alone for a few minutes and pick it up again it has to adjust and gets jerky but goes smooth again. If you find it for less than $ I'd get it. Targus PAUM30U Notebook Wireless Presenter

I'll just hit the highlights. I didn't have it long before I exchanged it, so I can't address the battery issue. But some other negative features include:* The on/off button is incredibly tiny so if you're inclined to stubby fingernails, forget it.* The battery cover is suprisingly flimsy and feels like the tabs that click and hold it in place could break easily. It's hard to open, too, so I doubt the cover would last long.* The overall size is larger than most products of this kind and surprisingly heavy. If you're going to go with this much bulk and weight, you might as well carry a full-sized mouse.* Surprisingly, this is NOT PLUG-AND-PLAY! To use this mouse, you have to plug it in before you turn on your PC. If you unplug the receiver while your PC's running, you have to plug it in again and reboot.* Also, mine did not come with the carrying pouch that's listed on the packaging. There's absolutely no good reason to buy this mouse when there are better, comparably-priced, plug-and-play ones available online and in stores.

I bought one of these to use with my two Compaq notebooks, both at work and at home, where it shows one of it's major drawbacks, (if one is as consevative as I, in wanting to conserve batteries when not in use) the mouse, powered by two AA batteries, has NO ON/OFF SWITCH, so, when transporting between work stations, one must remove one or both batteries to shut down the unit, which otherwise remains on when not connected to the computer. This may be different when used in conjunction with the charging station (sold seperately) which I have not purchased yet. Disconnecting the receiver and/or removal & replacement of batteries in lieu of a power switch requires resetting the frequency each time the mouse is moved. Another drawback is that the transmitter will not work through the chassis of a metal framed laptop, where the USB ports are either in the rear or on the left side, a problem Targus attempts to solve by including an extention cord (about 6" long, half the lenght really needed). If the transmitter and receiver are not in direct line-of-sight, the advertised three foot range falls off dramatically, causing hesitations and missed or partial click actions. Also, the receiver contains a BRIGHT blue light that FLASHES CONTINUOUSLY with movement of the mouse AND clicking any of the controls, which is HIGHLY distracting when one is trying to concentrate on one's work. Some may complain that the control switches are somewhat stiff, but I prefer a more crisp click action on my controls, which this unit provides. With internal power provided by the two AA batteries, the mouse does suffer somewhat from overweight (a 3V camera battery may have been a better choice), but the loss of that annoying cable drag more than makes up for this. For a fixed station home or office PC, this medium priced optical wireless could be a welcome addition, but it's not the best choice for use with a notebook, especially in portable mode.NOTE:Either Targus has come out with an advanced model(I recently purchased a replacement for the original damaged unit), or I failed to read the fine print in the owner's brochure. The unit DOES have an ON/OFF switch, operated by pressing the "Sync-Up" button on the bottom of the unit for three seconds, which will put the unit in "sleep" mode until the button is pressed again to re-activate it.

I just got this mouse as part of a "notebook essentials" kit, and it's proven to be a fine value for the money. A few things:

**The size is great for travel... maybe it's too small if you have large fingers, or too heavy if you're a 98 lb. weakling... for everyone else, it's fine.

**The movement is as smooth as my corded infrared mouse at home (granted, I've never used it further away from my laptop than about 2 feet).

**The blinking blue light on the USB part is a little annoying.

**The sleep mode is great... if you click on a button, it comes to life immediately. My guess is the earlier reviewer with the problem had an older laptop.

**The earlier reviewer was incorrent... this mouse is totally plug-and-play and you can plug it in whenever you like... before powering up, in the middle of working on something... whatever.

**The buttons and scroll wheel work perfectly.

Here's the bottom line: upon seeing it in action and finding out the price, two of my friends went out and bought one. It's not perfect, but it's great for the price. - Cordless Presenter - Wireless Presenter - Computer Remote - Laser Pointer'

School-age Children - middle school math, child development

My daughter and I have used this series for five years now. The older she gets the more she enjoys her summer studies. This book is great! It is always broken down into three sections and has reward charts to track progress. We also love the Summer Reading List in the book, and look the books up at our local library. I really enjoy the Better Bodies Better Behavior section and the flash cards as well. Each day's work and reading takes less than an hour. Definately worth the money, get it every year! Summer Bridge Activities: 5th to 6th Grade

I am commenting on the 2006 version. My son was behind in math and is going to middle school. He agreed to this program because it has very small pieces. He can complete the pages in the morning and go on with his day. We spend more time on the math portions but he is progressing.

I do find it helps if I prepare it for him, give him enough scrap paper and go over the directions. If you think you can just rip out a page, give it to your child and they will learn on their own, you would not be getting the full use of this program.

My only complaint so far this summer is that the book constantly tells you to go to the website. As of mid-July, this site is barely operational. If anyone has any tips on how to get into this website, please let us know. I enter the Official Pass Code from my book but there seem to be no operational sections. That is too bad.

With a little support from an adult, this program is very good for keeping kids sharp over the summer.

Enjoy parenting everyone!!

When my 5th grade daughter saw this on the table she asked, "Do I have to do this?" I told her I thought it would be a good idea, and asked her to look it over.

She immediately saw the motivational calendar at the front of the book which said, "My parents and I decided that if I complete 15 summer bridge activities and read ___ minutes a day my incentive/reward will be: "

"Reward? I get a reward?" she asked. I would not have believe how quickly that little incentive would change her attitude about this workbook. She was immediately on board.

The page has a nice checklist for her to color in a star for each activity page she completes, and a book for each time she reads the allotted amount. There are two other sections with similar pages, which I like, because the goal of filling in 50 stars is not seen as attainable. The first two sections deal with review, and the third section is designed to be an introduction to the coming year. We looked through the Summer Bridge Activities: 5th to 6th Grade, and I found it be on target as far as what Amanda learned this year in math, grammar, and geography. There are some things that she didn't cover, such as biology (circulatory and digestive systems and more), but this would be a fun activity for some kids to research so that they could fill out the worksheet.

I like to take those extended summer hours to focus on responsibilities, behaviors and that type of thing. Summer Bridge Activities has that covered too. The back has pages (with activities) devoted to character traits such as Responsibility, Gratitude, Manners and more.

This was my first experience with the Summer Bridge Activities from Carson-Dellosa, but I find myself asking, "Where have you been all my life?" I love the colorful pages, the accurate and challenging content, and the motivational calendar.

We've used these in the summer for our two boys for the past couple years and last year my older son was the ONLY kid in his class who saw his standardized testing scores IMPROVE from the spring to the fall. I'm sure this wouldn't have been the case had he not done this workbook over the summer. In addition, the way these books are arranged is excellent, and we particularly like the way the book is broken up into groups of days (e.g., 15 days), which gives them nice intermediate goals toward which they can work. I would highly recommend this book to help your kids retain what they learned during the school year!

Summer Bridge Activities books are great. They really help students keep in practice with school work. I would recommend that all parents purchase the grade appropriate books for their child to stay in tune with their regular school year studies.

My son needed a refresher of his fifth grade material. The Summer Bridge does exactly what its name says. It bridges the gap between grades and helps to prepare the student for the upcoming year. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their child's skills up during the summer. - Activities - Child Development - Learning - Middle School Math'

Frustration-fre - sports drink, coconut

I can drink a couple of these a day! I am glad the 17oz comes with a cap. Easier to store them once you open a pack. I've ordered VitaCoco, One and Zico. I find VitaCoco brand to have the best flavor. Best served chilled.

I bought three cases of these on Fri and it was at my door step today (Monday) with my prime account. Had a problem with one of the box. Upon opening the amazon box, I see that one of the case was already opened and few of packs were damaged and leaking. I called Amazon right away and they resolved it right away.

As the title says, great product and great service! thanks amazon.

In response to a previous reviewer who questioned the potassium content of the coconut water, please see the product description: "High in potassium, fat free, cholesterol free, and low in acidity, no sugar, Contains five essential electrolytes--potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, and phosphorous" -- which makes coconut water a superior pre- or post-workout drink compared to other popular sugar-laden, artificial color-added ones (you know who you are). I drink my Vita Coco chilled either right from the box to quench my thirst after a long run or I mix it into a delicious, awesomely nutritious smoothie with frozen bananas, papayas, strawberries, mangoes...whatever fruit you have on hand. You can also make a super-nutritious green smoothie by simply adding a tablespoon of Greener Grasses or Vitamineral Green to a cup of the coconut water and giving it a good whirl in the Vita-Mix. Excellent! And with Amazon's free shipping and subscription discounts, the value can't be beat.

I bought a lot of boxes of vita coco from Amazon these past few months due to the sale/special offers lately. 2 boxes (both were the small size) tasted great! (1 carton had a weird taste).

I said whatever and bought the larger size. YUCK! I drank the first two and they tasted sour. I compared them side by side with the other vita coco I had (the smaller cartons) and these taste really different. I opened a few more to try, and some were okay, and others sour.

UGH. I don't care how good some of these boxes are! If they vary this much, it's not worth it to me to try again.

*Edited to add:

I emailed vita coco and told them about this and they told me they had a bad batch. The rep then mailed me a free box of 12 cartons. This batch was good! (They sent me some funky flavors instead of the original though...still nice of them).

I prefer this resealable package over the 11oz..and by the way, the other reviewers are mad!

Perhaps they have never had fresh BRAZILIAN coco water before and are used to asian coco water which is sugary and watered down and completely industralized. I am from north of Brazil and can tell you this is what fresh young brazilian coconut water should taste like.

And how can anyone complain about the packaging? Makes no sense. Who could dislike a resealable, environmental friendly package!?

Overall, I am very satisfied and will continue to order this brand on subscribe and save. 3 boxes a month.

I grew up in southern India where water from tender coconut is sold by street vendors and it is drunk straight from the coconut. It is the most refreshing drink, containing electrolytes for very hot weathers over there. Gatorade and other artificial drinks are very poor substitutes.

After having tried the canned coconut waters available in Asian stores, I had given up on coconut water for a decade until I chanced upon these. They are expensive, but it is amazing that one could bottle "authenticity"! No artificial additives, no sugars, no pulps, nothing!

It is so good that I don't want to try the mixed varieties that they have. Nothing but pure coconut water for me.

I ordered three 12-packs so there were three shipping package for my order. The first two 12 packs came ontime as expected. However, one of the bottom have mole growing out of it so it have to be thrown away.

The third product made it to my city and then return to the supply. Then it was reship to me next day (free of charge from Amazon). However, I only received 8 packs instead of the 12 packs.

The product quality is pretty lousy compared to other coconut juice products I tried. I figure that I give this one a try. It look like somebody went through and open up all the box which made me afraid to drink it sometimes.

The taste really do not taste like real coconut. I expect more from 100% coconut. It was pretty cheap to begin with but I think that I would go with other products.

I love Vita Coco 100% Pure Coconut Water, especially on a hot day. It is the best "sports drink" you can get, because it does "hydrate every cell in your body." It is a pure, unadulterated, unmanipulated healthy drink, that perks you up. The 17oz. size is handy to take along in the car or pack for lunch. Great for leg cramps cuz of the high potasium content. Better than a banana and less calories. Better than water - totally quenches thirst!!! - Vita Coco - Sports Drink - Health - Coconut - Nutrition - Vitacoco'

As a university Professor, I highly recommend this book. It covers all the fundamentals of Design, from historical background to all interior design mchanics. This is it!

If you are an Interior Design student or professor, you will enjoy reading this book, I highly recommend it. Mr. Pile is an authority in this subject, I have been teaching and reading his books for over 3 decades.

I give high rating, enjoy learning.

Michele Beatriz Interior Design (4th Edition)

John Pile's this book and his other book on color are absolutely the best books I have ever laid my hands on. These books are what every magazine article is about; most books on interiors have about a 1/10 of what is in these two books. REcommended for serious homeowners and professionals.

I purchased this book for my Interior Design Class. There is just a lot of great information . The History of Design, architure, decortive art, mordern history; noted designers, different eras of design, dating back to the 1700's. Just a fablous texbook reference tool.

THIS IS THE MOST THOROUGH RESOURCE I HAVE READ. THE PICTURES ACCOMPANYING THE TEXT ILLUSTRATE THE STYLES AND PRINCIPLES PUT FORTH BY THE AUTHOR. I AM ABLE TO USE THIS BOOK AS A REFERENCE FOR SEVERAL OTHER COURSES.

I bought the 4th edition book for an intro class I'm taking in Decorating and Design. John Pile has provided a well written resource, including great photos, explanations, and very good fundamental information. Overall it is a great go-to book for those seriously interested in the basic anatomy of a great design. - Textbook - Reference'

Ipod Accessories - mp3 speakers, iphone speakers

I bought this after looking at much more expensive options. I wanted something to take to the pool, or beach for background/secondary music listening.. And.. this product will not disappoint for such use. It has much better than expected sound, and lots of features. For starters, my Sony MP3 and headphones fit nicely inside this speaker (zips up, and has a pocket inside to hold your MP3). So, as many have said, it carries and it protects your devise (has a clip for your bag, belt or whatever). Also, at this price, you can afford to toss it around a bit and not worry over it. I have had several friends, who have expensive speakers, and said they like mine. The batteries have lasted a really long time (I assume that they use little power, since your MP3 has it's own power source). So, you won't go through many batteries. I've used mine for several hours (6-12), and still have a bright red battery life indicator light. This speaker does a superb job for background music, and the sound is great for this type of use. I turn my MP3 up about 2/3 of full volume and I can hear music nicely from about 5-15 feet. You should note that this will not compare to a boom-box style radio's sound, and this will not produce big enough sound for folks to dance to, as that's not it's purpose. However, it does produce very nice sound with good bass for close to mid-range patio, or pool listening. It's also fairly loud for it's size (I would estimate about 2/3 as loud your clock radio turned up full-blast, but with a bit better bass response, and a bit better sound quality. You could also store small jewelry and cash etc inside with your MP3/Phone.

On the downside... who could complain for $10. But, if I have to, a larger phone or MP3 might not fit inside this speaker (for carry). So, you might use this with the slimmer version IPODS etc. I still think it's worth it no matter what. It would be nice if there were an external volume switch, and a water-proof design on this. I've taken mine to the pool, and it's been splashed and still works fine. I doubt it would take a large splash though, but think it would protect your devise from damage. Still, for just $10, what do you expect? Hopefully, they will produce even better versions of this speaker, as I would like a larger one with the above

add-ons.

For the price, this speaker will perform with others which are 2-3 times more expensive. And, this unit is more portable with no need to plug it in. You will not be dissapointed at this purchase! I would have paid $20-30 for this speaker and feel it's nearly perfect for it's intended use (not to mention it's price)!

Enjoy - iLuv iSP110 Portable Amplified Stereo Speaker Case (Pink)

This item is very light and sounds fairly decent as long as the volume isn't all the way up. When it is up too high it gets a bit distorted as you might guess with a unit so inexpensive. But really not bad at all for the money and projects the sound a good distance away even when not at full volume. Not a lot of bass response but what do you expect for this price. One thing that is a little annoying is that you really can't get to the controls of the Ipod when it is fit into the little half net where it's supposed to sit inside the unit. If you plan on changing the songs constantly, then this might annoy you. But set it to play with a playlist and it's all cool. Overall a great little product for the small price. I found it at Best Buy for only $9.99 though.

This speaker is great for the price and size!

The first thing I'd like to talk about is the product quality and design. This product is actually a carrying case with two speakers on the outside and is larger than I expected from the photo (4 in. X 7 in.). The case is somewhat hard and will protect your source device from falls. It takes two AA batteries that you install by unzipping the case and removing the battery cover on the side of the case where the speakers are located. Inside the case there is enough room to fit a generation 2 full sized iPod. There is an additional pocket on the inside part of the aft case to secure the source device. To connect the speakers to the device there is a stereo plug similar to ones used in for iPod headphones. The speakers themselves are protected by a plastic bar that crosses over the top of them (which will allow little fingers to push on them so if you have kids you will not want them playing with this case). You can attach the speaker case to anything you'd like with the sturdy clasp. My wife has her's hanging off of her jogging stroller when she takes the babies while jogging.

The sound of these speakers exceeded my expectations for such a low price. Now they are not high fidelity speakers but they will sound the same as any desktop computer speaker system that does not have a sub-woofer. These speakers blow away any laptop speakers that I have heard so far (much clearer and louder). With the volume set on these speakers as high as they will go without distorting it will actually leave your ears ringing if held up next to your ears (assuming you don't attend rock concerts daily). The battery life for this product is pretty good as well. My wife has had it about a month with listening to it for about 20-hours and we still haven't had to replace the batteries.

Overall this is a great product if your looking for something more than the laptop speakers or pre-installed speakers built into jogging strollers. - Portable Speakers - Zune Speakers - Iphone Speakers - Mp3 Speakers'

If you search on Amazon for a charger to fit a Pavilion dv6, this article will come up. When I received mine, I found that it has an approx. 5mm diameter connector, which will not fit my Pavilion dv6, which requires an approx. 7.5mm diameter connector. The seller wrote that they would credit me for the item cost, shipping to me, and shipping back to them. I did not get a credit for the return shipping, but after three e-mails, Amazon gave me a discount in that amount on my next purchase. You gotta like Amazon! Laptop AC Adapter Charger for HP Pavilion dv1050 dv6000

This product was way more than I expected.. For 6 bucks I expected something that was not going to work.. I've had this for 4 mths and had no issues none at all.. So for 6 bucks it beats the 75 dollar one anyday!!! You can buy a few of them for back ups even!!

I needed a new AC adapter charger as soon as possible considering my old one just failed on me in the middle of exam week. This adapter charger arrived really fast and has been working really well. Thanks for the fast and speedy delivery.

Took the whole 5 days for the charger to get here. Not as high quality as the actual power cord for the computer, but what do you expect for $9? Charged my dead battery without overheating. A good purchase for a low budget.

The Charger worked pefectly for about the two months and then it just stop working. I dont know what went wrongwith. I had actually bragged on it because of the inexpensive price adn how well it was working, but i quess you get what you pay for, i brag too soon. I havent yet contacted the seller to see how they will resolve the matter but if i have to ship it back it want even bee worth it because i didnt pay much for it. - Hp Pavilion - Ac Power Adapter - Laptop Charger - Hp Ac Adapter'

Led Tv

Boy was i like a kid on christmas when the UPS guy showed up with this baby. When it came in the door i was SHOCKED at how slim the box was AND THATS JUST THE BOX ! After unboxing and set-up, i was instantly sure i had made the right choice. You'll hear me repeat over and over again how nice this tv is and im sorry but i need to get my point across :) The super slim bezzle or edge is great. Picture quality is stunning, colors pop and although the 120hz auto motion plus isn't for everyone, it's still spectacular. On that note i have to say, after reading so many comments from people who dislike the auto motion plus (or soap opera affect) i think it's important to note that turning all the setting to the max will look odd...it's not meant for that. i have my blur at max but my judder at only 4 or 5....i find it needs to be adjusted based on programming. My one and ONLY gripe is that it doesnt come with 3d Glasses.....i know it's not a huge issue but you think paying that amount for a tv they'd be able to throw in some $40 glasses no? One more thing...not a con just a point....BUY THE QWERTY REMOTE ! it is a royal pain trying to use T9 on the SMART Hub.

Im sure i've missed a lot but there's to much to talk about.... it's a fantastic T.V for the money. Samsung UN40D6400 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)

The good:

Gorgeous appearance. Unusually slim bezel. Very thin. Barely warm when used (very low power consumption). Lots of apps including Vimeo streaming.

Glossy screen to my surprise appeared reasonably dark and without interfering glare even in bright sun lit room.

The bad:

First and major one - absolutely unusable for 3D viewing. Crosstalk is unbearable, totally spoiling 3d immersion. Originally got 3100 glasses. Samsung support told me to get newer, 3300 glasses for this TV. Over hundred bucks later - exactly same issue. I'm convinced that there is no difference, at least for this TV, if 3100 or 3300 glasses are used. For this thing alone this TV does not worth it's price.

Second - uniformity. Very bad on black (light spots), and even mid gray has some problems - one dark blob. (I did not notice any problem on bright white). On black both lower corners are bright to almost unbearable interference with picture. Samsung support told me to hold my conclusion till after over 600 hours of use, auto conditioning supposed to take care of it by then. Well, I don't think I will have 600 hours on this TV even after one year and I don't have intention to tolerate it. If screen conditioning required - it should be done at factory before shipment to customer. I call ... on it.

Third - dynamic local dimming. Not advertised but it is obvious to me that this model uses local dimming. It is poorly implemented and I see no option to turn it off in any video mode. As it is dynamic - there is many way it appears and spoils the picture. When used for apps - local dimming is disabled.

Minor thing - out of the box all picture "enhancement" stuff turned to the max producing unpleasing, pasterized image. Takes some tweaking to get it back to normal. "3D" settings has no explanation what it does (settings -1, 0 and 1) other than it says that it "optimizes 3D". My guess it tweaks glasses sync timing as I can notice very slight crosstalk change, but to me it is absolutely useless.

It is very nice 2D TV (except black uniformity), though overpriced for that. In my opinion it should not be sold as 3D. Samsung's customer support quick and polite but absolutely useless.

I'm trying replacement, will see if the one I got is just unlucky fluke or if there is some systematic problem with this model. So far Amazon appeared supportive.

Will follow up...

Here it is: replacement was pretty much identical in every way to original one. So sad, it's a beautiful set. If you really like it for 2D - get D6000 instead, same guts but without 3D and few hundreds cheaper.

Amazon service absolutely superb. I will continue my shopping for 3D TV set.

Well first off i have only had this tv for a day and so far i have tried everything on it and it's just fabulous. We have directv and with the high def package you have access to a 3d channel. I have the standard ssg-3100gb glasses put them on and wow the 3d was amazing. I saw an earlier comment that someone was saying the 3d is useless, they couldnt be more wrong. Not sure what content they were watching but it stood out and i let my family try it and make sure they saw what i was seeing. They all agreed it was great. Then i put a 3d movie on (tron) and same result was excellent in every way you'd want 3d. As for the rest of the options on the tv, smart apps are great more then enough for u to have a good time with, picture quality is perfect in hd and the tv itself is very compact. For a 1,000 it is defintly a tv worth having anywhere in your house...

I have 13 TVs, from 19" to 62". Four of them are Samsung (32" LCD, 32" LCD, 50" Plasma, and this 40" LED), most of the others are Sony, Panasonic, or Mitsubishi. Every one has been a great TV, but each one is better than the previous. Make sure you understand this TV is the 2011 model, not 2010. It is a UN40D6400UF, not a UN40C6400UF. It is so new that you can't easily find support at Samsung if you use the Product Model Finder. You must search the sight with the correct model number, and only then will you find a path to the support page.

I can only rate this TV on 2D picture quality. I have no use for 3D-TV until they don't require glasses, even though both my PS3's, TV, and a couple of Blu-rays support 3D. As another user noted, the box is slim and that's no joke. I bought my kids a 40" Philips LED TV two weeks ago and that box was slim, but this box was 2" thinner. This TV weighs 22 lbs, while the Philips is 30 lbs. The thin bezel is amazing and makes the TV look like it's all picture.

The menu system is slightly better than my plasma, both well laid out and intuitive. Setup was a breeze and the settings were NOT all maxed out. The remote is pretty well laid out, but not as nice as my plasma and the back-lighting is not as bright as it should be. The picture and sound are superb! Off-angle viewing (vertical and horizontal) is amazing. All my Samsung TV's have touch-sensitive controls on the front of the TV - they look great but are hard to use in most lighting situations. This TV has real buttons on the back of the TV, but you have to memorize the locations by feel. (UPDATE) When you touch the buttons on the back of the TV, there are icons that appear on the front of the screen showing all of the buttons and which button you are touching, by highlighting that button. Very Cool!

I would recommend this TV to all my friends and family!! I am so glad I spent the extra $100 to get the 6400 instead of the 6000.

UPDATE: OK, I broke down and bought a pair of Samsung 3D glasses and Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D. The glasses paired with the TV like magic. The 3D picture was quite amazing with none of the problems described by another reviewer. I still don't like the glasses, and I felt some eye strain and a minor headache during the movie. You can actually still watch the movie without the glasses - not very well, but a 100 times better than the old red and blue 3D movies. The glasses also fit a big head like mine, but still fit my children (nice design).

Also I got tired of the soap opera appearance of the standard 2D video, so I adjusted the Auto Motion Plus based on forum comments (Blur at 10, Judder at 3). The picture looks normal again, and the fast motion is no longer jerky. I recommend making this change, or going crazy watching strange, unnatural video. It might sound silly, but this adjustment is night and day!

IMPORTANT: All documentation about this TV's wall mount size is incorrect. Maybe the 2010 model took VESA 400x400, but this 2011 TV takes VESA 200x200.'
