Best Mechanical Pencil - paper mate, best mechanical pencil

A friend let me borrow one of these pencils one day at school, and I absolutely fell in love with it. The grip is comfortable, but not too soft that it is hard to write. Papermate makes a .7 and .5 model of these pencils, and depending on your writing styles, they work differently to your advantage. I personally prefer the .5mm because I don't like my handwriting to be thick, but the .7 lead lasts longer and is more durable. The eraser lasts very long, and when you do run out (which takes a couple months), the pack comes with an extra. The starter pack comes with lead, but it is only about 12 pieces, so normally, when I buy a new pack of pencils, I also buy a 3 pack of lead. I burn through lead quite quickly, and 12 pieces only lasts about 2 weeks of school, so buying extra lead is very helpful.

My only problem with these pencils is, that when you load lead into these pencils, you have to take the top off, which isn't a big deal, but for every time you load the pencil, it wears out what holds the top, and after a couple of months, it doesn't hold the top, so when you go to erase, the top falls off. This is my only issue, and it is very minor compared to all the pro's of this pencil.

Overall, these are amazing pencils, and I can't use any other pencil. My mom tries to buy me the cheap bulk pack of mechanical pencils, and I won't use them! She has to buy me these!! =D Paper Mate Clear Tip 0.7mm Mechanical Pencil Starter Set, Colors May Vary (56047PP)

My son found one of these on the street and we both fell in love with it. Had to buy more so we each would have our own and actually bought 2 starter sets which comes with 2 pencils and extra lead and erasers. Comfortable grip - a bit larger than most mech pencils, which is nice for my old joints. Writes well and seems to be pretty durable.

I like the concept of these more than I like the actual pencils. You can see how many leads are left! You can twist out more eraser when you need it! The lead-advance button is on the side of the pencil, so you can easily use it while writing, and unlike the end-push ones you can't accidentally click out more lead while erasing!

So I got two of them -- different colors, at different times, so probably not the same batch. And yet they've both had the same problems.

* The clip piece broke off of each one, which I've not had happen with any other mechanical pencils.

* As others reported, the attachment for the eraser end of the pencil isn't very well designed, and after only maybe two lead reloads they've occasionally fallen out on both of my pencils. This is doubly annoying because even if you can find it and put it back in place, it's also the cap for the lead compartment so you've almost certainly lost any extra leads you had in the pencil.

* Also, when I erase, the eraser often retracts: it's a simple twist mechanism, so the back-and-forth motion and mild pressure of simple erasing is enough to twist it back in, unless you get the angle just right.

The grip is nice, the erasers are good, the pencils feel good in the hand and to write with, and the lead (.5mm, for mine) doesn't break much at all. There are some nice functionality and design innovations here. If Paper Mate fixes the design flaws, I'll happily buy this kind again and probably forevermore. I'm looking for a different model now, though, because I've already lost the eraser end from one of mine, and as the other also falls off, I'm sure it, too, will vanish permanently sooner or later (though I'll try a review commenter's wrap suggestion).

I have tried many, many varieties of mechanical pencils. Thin, thick, narrow, oddly shaped, metal, you name it, and no other mechanical pencil I have encountered even comes close to the quality of this one.

The innovative design was executed flawlessly; I'm very grateful it has the led dispenser near the grip-- that may be the best feature of it. The width isn't too narrow nor too thick, it feels just right, and the grip is gratifying to say the least.

Also, the eraser design was a definite plus! The erasers it comes with are well thought out and durable, and it even comes with extra ones! Your hand will be grateful if it ever comes in contact with one of these godsend pencils, and that is an understatement. Papermate surely makes the best mechanical pencils out there.

I have had four of these pencils, and they always break quickly. With the last pencil I used, the clip broke off after 3 weeks of using it, and the pencil would no longer hold lead refills after 6 weeks. No matter what I tried, the leads would just slide out of the point of the pencil.

I had the same problem with other mechanical pencils made by the same company--labelled as "Sanford". After a short time, the leads just fall out.

I had much better luck with the Pentel mechanical pencils I bought twenty years ago. They aren't as cute, but they both still work, and have metal clips that won't break off.

Bought 4 of these; 1 stopped working (won't push any leads through) in less than a month. Sanford guarantees satisfaction, but it's not worth postage and time to send it back for a replacement. So figure the cost of each pencil accordingly. We'll see how long the other 3 last.

These great pencils are very efficient and come in a variety of colors that include three shades of green, red, black, pink, purple, turquoise, and much more!!! They come with a pack of 12 pieces of lead and two back-up erasers. The very first time I saw these, I fell in love with them.

First of all, the erasers are wonderful compared to other mechanical pencils. Other pencils only have one short eraser that wears down after a while. Then they'll get on your nerves when you're tryng to refill you lead. These pencils have solved the problem. the erasers are huge and long-lasting. you can twist the top to increase the length or decrease it. To refill the lead, instead of taking the eraser out, you take the whole cap off! I thought that that was a very clever way to refill lead. To take the eraser out in order to replace it with a back-up (included), just gently pull the eraser out and easily put a new eraser back in the plastic tabs.

Secondly, I think the tip of the pencil holds the lead a bit stronger, because the lead never breaks (or hardly ever). To push the lead out, just push on the tab under the words "clear point. 0.5mm" even though it say 0.5mm, 0.7mm also works. There are these gel-like strips at the barrel, which prevents your fingers from sliding. It is #2 lead, so it is perfect to standardized tests. The tip is also retractable.

All in all, Paper Mate has out done themselves. I have used these pencils for a year already and much more to come! - Paper Mate - Best Mechanical Pencil - Mechanical Pencil - Office Supplies'

Electrical Equipment - wiremold, wire organizer

I am a wire nazi and like all my A/V cables run neat. However, after my new LCD was mounted I had a power cable and HDMI cable ruining the look. I did not want to rip through drywall, route around fireplace vents, drill through 6 studs, and refinish drywall to make it look nice. Maybe one day I will, but not yet. I posted images of the before and after condition.

Wiremold Cordmate II was an ideal solution:

1) Inexpensive

2) Easy to install

3) Very pratical and funtional

4) Looks good

5) Individual pieces available (elbows, corners, etc.)

Install took maybe 1 hour total to plan, measure, cut, and paint (20 minutes of actual work; 40 for paint drying). I painted before install and found that applying paint with a small brush and then using a small, dry roller gave a very finished look. Also make sure your cables are plenty long enough (with some alpha factor) before installing. Do not plan on running a ton of cables through this version - power, HDMI, and maybe a coaxial would be it.

I was very skeptical about the cordmate's ability to hold in corner with thick cables. I had an inside and outside 90 degree elbow within 3 inches which is a lot of force to hold. But the double sided tape is very strong and holding very good.

Perhaps the only minor downside would be ability to add or change cables. It does open, but it takes some pressure. So make sure to feed all wires needed first before taping to wall.

Overall, this wire nazi is very impressed and would highly recommend. Wiremold C210 White Cordmate II Kit

Got this item to conceal the wires that would hang between my wall mounted 42 inch plasma TV and the entertainment stand below it which holds my cable box and DVD player. There were three wires to conceal in all - cable box wire (regular coaxial cable thickness); HDMI wire from DVD player to TV (slightly thinner than coaxial cable); and cable for TV plug to wall (very thick for some reason). The cableholder just barely held these three cables (but it did hold them. remember you dont have to get the head of the cable through the cordmate - it can open up so you can clip it over the hanging cables (very convenient). The cordmate is also very paintable to match your walls. paint before you stick it on wall and use a roller not a brush. I used a brush at first and it was harder to paint and was leaving brush lines (could have been brush I was using but...). Anyway, good product and inexpensive - I would buy again for such uses. easier to cut as well than I thought it would be.

First, the good: These cable covers are simple to mount and function well. They are easy to open with a screw driver or even a pen, and they are even easier to snap shut. They aren't the roomiest, so you should know that in advance. I was able to run an ethernet cable, a coax RF cable, and two speaker wires without much of an issue. However, it was pretty packed and doubt it would hold more. The adhesive is quite strong, so you won't need to worry much about how hard you tug on the covers while tucking away your wires. The adhesive also brings me to...

The bad: I'm willing to admit that I didn't fully read the instructions that came with the product, so my problems may have been addressed and warned against. However, upon removal, these things are a nightmare. Trying to pull them off would almost always tear the paint and upper layer of drywall right off. When it did manage to come off without a chunk of the wall, it left a sticky residue that was incredibly difficult to clean (I tried warm soapy water, and even Goo Gone). In the end, I used a utility knife to score the edges, and then just ripped off strips of drywall. Then I had to patch each channel, sand, and paint. If I had known I would be moving only 6 months after installation, I would have never used these cable covers.

In the end, I have to give their function more weight than their difficult removal. They work great, and they install super easily. If you are not planning on removing them in any short manner of time, I would recommend them. However, if you are a renter or know you will move in a year or less, you may want to find another product.

I needed to route the TV cable about 20 feet from the source around two walls and a small nook. I ordered 2 of these kits, and could not be happier with the results. I placed the track on the baseboard just above the quarter molding, and it blends right in. You just need to make sure there is enough clearance below the track so that the coupling and corner attachments can snap on. The track sticks very well and I don't think it will ever release without a struggle. When my TV is mounted, I'm going to run a short piece down the wall for the power and cable box cords, and paint it to match. The track is easy to cut with a hack saw.

The amazon page says this is 1.2 inches in length, 2 inches in width, and 48 inches long. WRONG. The channel which will hold 3 cables of average size (e.g. rg-6 or rg-59 video cable, standard a/c power cord, etc) will hold 3 cables snugly across - it's about 1.2 inches wide outside, but inside is what matters if you have ALOT of cables. Unless you use some micro cables you won't get more than 3 standard size cables inside this track. The 2" dimention I argue with - there is nothing about the track that measures 2" wide. It's 1.2 wide, with under 1" of space inside, and about 3/8" off the wall (call it tall?) - yes the lengths are 48" long.

Wiremold has been used to hide ugly cables for a long time - this was perfect for my job - I just wall mounted a 23" HDTV in my dad's kitchen for him to catch the early morning news with coffee etc. (the set was an LG 23" with more inputs than you could imagine for computer use and a tv antenna / cable input as well - we are using it with a rooftop TV antenna on the house that grabs about 88 ATSC channels, of which we delete around 30 that are advertising or specialized language/childrens programming leaving a healthy 58 free tv channels on the tv set)

The cables were ugly though. RG-6 coax for the antenna feed, power and VGA to a small laptop that logs weather data from the usb port on the weather station I bought as a gift for my parents all had to go to the back of the set - it was a cable nightmare.

With the wiremold full, it drops straight down below the set with 3 cables inside (and they are snug) goes into an elbow to follow the baseboard, then goes through a T connector where the power cord comes out and into an outlet next to the T connector - the wiremold continues to the corner of the room where the RG-6 antenna cable enters the channel and from that point it has 10" left for the VGA cable.

NOTES for successful installation.

I made some mistakes so I'll share them with you for your install - best to learn from others mistakes!

The fittings (T, left elbow, right elbow, inside corner, outside corner) are very generous, but they do not adhere to the wiremold channel, they go OVER the channel. Because of this if you stick the channel to the wall directly touching the baseboard, you will not be able to put he fittings over the wiremold afterwards because it needs to go between the stick of wiremold and the baseboard - so the trick is lay a thin piece of plastic above the baseboard (1/16") then tack the channel down with the foam sticky back - that way you'll have room for the fittings to go over it (same rule goes for corners)

When cutting it, I used a hitachi power miter saw instead of a hacksaw Hitachi C10FCE2 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw - don't make real fast cuts even with the fast saw - let the blade come up to full speed then gradually slip it through the channel as if you were cutting a hardwood. If you make fast cuts, the blade teeth (and this goes for sawzalls too) can snag the non-opening edge of the channel and split the thin plastic - now you have a channel with an opening on two sides, one is a crack, the other a j hook mold. I put some clear shipping tape over the crack like amazon uses to ship boxes to you and held the crack together, then make slow milling type cuts with the saw which came out very clean with square edges on both the use piece and waste piece.

Always place the J hook side where you'll be able to open it later if you think you will add a cable at a later date, i.e. don't put the J clasp edge down towards the baseboard or you'll have a hard time getting it open later. Same goes for a corner of a wall going vertical.

When the project was finished it looked 200% better - no cable mess any more, no cables visable at all, and the adhesive is strong enough it will pull the paint off the wall before it comes off by itself, so make sure you have a level handy for vertical runs to give you an edge because once you stick it on the wall its not comming off. Consider it permanent after 5 seconds (I was able to carefully reposition a small 10 inch piece that had not fully adhered yet by slowly pealing it off the paint as soon as I realized I had a problem)

Make sure your cables do not have the RFI filters (those big blobs usually close to the end of the cable) because those won't go into the channel if they are far back from the connector (my monitor came with a cable like this and I had to buy a replacement VGA cable that has the RFI filters up close to the connector instead)

Final install tip, although it seems best to put the T connector for a power plug right under the outlet, I found it was better to

offset the T about 2-4 inches from the power outlet. This way the cable comes out and has room to lay over before going into the outlet and does not put stress on the t cover, which has no adhesive to hold it on. If it is right under the outlet it will tend to force the T joint off of the wiremold strip.

This kit gives you everything you need to go 12 feet, make an inside corner, and outside corner, go up or down the wall, join two pieces together and one T connector to let cables exit near an outlet. Don't expect to put more than 3 normal size (1/4") cables inside it and you won't be disappointed, but it is not 1.2 x 2.0 x 48" as the amazon specifications say. It's more like 1.2 x 3/8 in x 4 feet long strips x 3 + all the parts. Amazon needs to correct the measurements and make it clear what the raceway outside and inside dimentions are. If I expected 1.2x2.0 " as their page says, and could not fit 6 cables into it I would be upset, but my install worked out. - Cable - Wire Organizer - Wire Concealer - Wiremold'

Amethyst - citrine, earrings

I have multiple holes in my ears and on any given day may wear 1 pair or 4 pairs of studs or small hoops.

These studs are for when I am only wearing one or two pairs beause of their size, but they are very clear and the posts do not irritate my ears. I have sensitive ears and they will swell when I wear the wrong earrings. These did not hurt, itch or make my ears swell. Good value for money. Sterling Silver 5mm Round Peridot, Garnet, Amethyst, Citrine, Blue Topaz Stud Earring Set

I purchased this set of gemstone earrings to work with a set of sterling and gemstone earring jackets I was given as a gift. The studs fit perfectly within the jackets that were designed for 1 carat earrings. I'm pleased with the color and clarity of the stones. The price was extremely reasonable as well.

I was very disappointed by this order. The garnet, peridot and blue topaz were okay, though the topaz were on the pale side. The citrine were more green than yellow and the stones were of noticably different sizes. The amtheyst were so pale as to be colorless and one was entirely clouded--completely unwearable. Many of these had bent prongs, making it difficult to get the backs on and off. At the clearance price, it's probably a reasonable buy for someone needing a range of inexpensive stones to complete their jewelry wardrobe (or buying cheap for multiple piercings), but I'll be returning these and looking for better quality merchandise. - Peridot - Earrings - Citrine - Garnet'

Palm - screen protector, palm

This screen protector went on easily enough and feels substantial enough to provide a good amount of protection to the screen. At the same time, I have not noticed any decrease in the touch screen's sensitivity. A good buy, especially considering the low price. Three LCD Screen Guards / Protectors for Palm Pixi / Pixi Plus

Trust me I have been through a bunch of these...I can't stand the bubbles, so I buy new ones when the bubbles start to bother me. I have paid as much as $16.00 for a pack of screen protectors and found these at their much cheaper price superior to those. These gave precise instructions on how to apply and I got no bubbles with these screen protectors. They also fit my Palm Pixi Plus perfectly. Very pleased with this purchase!!!

Wow, wonderful service! I received my package quickly and it was the correct screen protector unlike others had previously said. The only issue was with the "lint-free" wipes that come with each protector. I rated this product at a 3, and almost immediately, I had an email from the seller offering a refund, and a second set of the protectors for free!! I've never experienced a better seller.

The guards were ok. They were cheap so it works. They bubble up really bad when your applying them so be careful. I got another one that came with my phone case (it was more expensive) and it works a lot better. These are good back ups though and you can't beat the price. - Palm - Screen Protector'

Riding Boots - wide calf leather boot, comfortable

This boot is very nice looking, however, I have small calves and I could barely zip up this boot, it squeezes so tight around my tiny calves!. I have never had this problem before, which leads me to believe it is a manufacturing error. The width of the shoe is also very narrow- unusually so. LifeStride Women's Somerset Knee-High Boot,Black,6 M US

5.5M is my usual size but I felt this size in this boot was smaller and narrower than usual. Being non leather I feel it won't stretch out much so if you have a wide foot you might have problems . The calf didn't quite fit and I couldn't do the zip up full.Don't have skinny stick legs but not fat either so the side buckle won't help much for wide calves. Once I got it done up it was a very tight and uncomfortable feeling around the calf just below the knee.I persevered and added socks and there was a bit of stretch. But then I decided to scrunch the boot down a bit along the leg and it relaxed it a lot and now it's not too bad. The sole is excellent and non slip including the heel. Heel height not quite the 2 inches.

If you get this boot to fit you in all areas it will be a reasonably comfortable casual boot.

FINALLY found myself a nice pair of black boots! Most of the ones I've tried looked too juniors-y or too clunky (or are beautiful but WAAAY too expensive). This is a nice classy, basic boot - I could see it easily dressed up or down depending on the outfit. I've only had them out of the box for half an hour, but they feel comfy, and I bet I could go a day in them without complaint. There's a heel, but it's the kind that's so low and stable that it feels like a flat. The material doesn't feel too synthetic. There's plenty of traction on the sole. My biggest complaint is that they seem to bunch around the ankle more than I'd like (more so than the other black boots I bought for comparison shopping), but they're classy, versatile, and comfortable enough that they won! plus, the price is very reasonable!)(Also, these are best for narrow calves...you needn't be stick thin, but the margin between needing a wide calf and a normal calf is pretty small! ie, my legs look the same to the naked eye, but after trying on many pairs of different brands of boots, I find that my left leg ends up being squeezed in normal boots, and my right leg is fine. That held true for these boots, but I like them enough to keep them!)

Cute, comfy, just as pictured. I ordered a 6.5 and have average width feet. Very comfortable to wear all day (I'm not good with heels anymore after 2 kids). Seems to be good quality. Very happy with this purchase. - Wide Calf Leather Boot - Leather - Wide Calf - Comfortable'

Makita Batteries - cordless, battery packs

This is the best price anywhere to be found - essentially 2 batteries for the price of one. When my old batteries died, I couldn't stomach $80+ for one battery at the local Lowes, so I looked around, including the price of having my current ones "rebuilt". These are 2 new batteries, and the price is less than having my old ones rebuilt. The work great. Very satisfied. Makita 194157-8 1434 14.4-Volt 2-3/5-Amp Hour NiMH Pod Style Battery, 2-Pack

Makita 194157-8 1434 14.4-Volt 2.6 Amp Hour NiMH Pod Style Battery, 2 Pack

I purchased the makita 14.4 impact driver kit with two batteries 3years ago. With only modest intermittment use, one of the batteries failed. In May 2008 I purchased the two pack. Again after only moderate use one of the new batteries failed. I like the power and performance of the unit and the batteries(when they are working) but was very disappointed in the battery life on 2 of the 4 batteries. But rather than buy new equipment, I am buying another 2 pack from Amazon as their price and service is very good.

The product came within a week. The batteries are new, in original packaging. I charged them and have been using them with no indications that they will not perform like the original batteries. So far this has been a great find.

I bought these to replace my stock batteries that came with my drill/driver kit. They don't hold a charge nearly as long as the original ones did. Maybe I got a bum package but it is too late to return as I used the heck out of them for a job I needed them for. At least they were cheap. If I hadn't labeled them, I probably wouldn't be able to tell which were the old worn out batteries and which were the new ones.

FIRST, IT PERFORMED WELL. ONCE FULLY CHARGED IT LASTED LONGER THAN I EXPECTED, AND AFTER TWO WEEKS OF NOT USING IT, IT DRAINED ALMOST NONE.SECOND THE PRICE, IS UNBELIEVABLY CHEAPER IN A TWO PACK. SOME CHARGED ALMOST THE SAME PRICE FOR A SINGLE BATTERY THAN AMAZON FOR TWO PACK. IN ALL I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THE PRODUCT

My second pair of batteries had come to the end of their useful lives after about three years, so I bought a replacement pair from Amazon.com. The batteries did not seem to have as much power after fully charged. (My crude test for the power is to grab the drill chuck wearing leather glove and see if I succeed at making the drill not being able to turn with the trigger slowly pulled all the way in. Be careful though, as the spinning chuck held tight will heat up the leather very quickly if you are not able to keep the chuck still.) I was able to stop the chuck from turning without having to grab the chuck with all might. After about three cycles of full discharge/charge, the batteries stopped holding enough power to drive more than two two and half inch screws into fir. Amazon.com sent me a replacement set and this set is not as strong as my first two pairs, but better than the first from Amazon.com. I have not used the batteries yet, but I feel that the quality control might be the culprit here. - Battery Packs - Makita Batteries - Cordless Drill - Cordless'

Battery - battery

I've only had this battery for about a month, but so far so good. It keeps a charge much longer than the stock mill. True, it gives your phone a beer belly, but just the same you get used to it and you forget what it was like when your phone was skinny.

I've heard of this thing lasting only for a year, sometimes less, so I weighed this certainty against the price and bought it. Seidio Innocell 2600mAh Extended Battery for BlackBerry Curve 8520, 8530, 9300, & 9330 - [Retail Packaging]

My original blackberry battery did not even last one day with my normal use. I had to keep charging it everyday. The Seidio Innocell extended battery is over size but not any problem at all, and it lasts up to three days on one charge. It makes my phone useful again.

I have had my 8530 curve for about 10 months. I routinely would avoid doing some of the things that I got the phone for, ie internet searches, news sites, because if I wasn't careful I would be out of battery and have no phone service. I charge my phone every night. I have had this Seido battery for about a month and life is good. It has not run out of battery yet and I am able to use the phone as much as I want. The phone itself at times seems to be better than it was with the standard battery.

I use my Blackberry as both my work and home phone so I needed a battery that lasted longer than the standard one that came with the phone. This battery has had excellent life and I have been very pleased with the purchase.

This battery is a great addition to your cell if you use it a lot. Charges fast enough and last 3-4 days with constant phone usage. New battery cover (included in the package) sits and feels, by my opinion, even better than original.

This product is amazing! increased the life of the battery

Soooooo much! On a full charge I can have internet radio

running for about 9+ hours! the added thickness isn't bad

And still fits in my holster, thank you for making this!

The new battery is very thick and NOTHING covered , that the back of my Blackberry Curve 8530 would however NOT go back on with the extended Seido Battery?!??!??

It required 12 hour charging first time out, and having received it yesterday, I am not yet sure of the extended value yet...

Di I miss something??? I do have an Ed Harvey back plate cover with allows a semblance of "can do" . As I have bought this thru Amazon, I must contact the manufacturer .

Sony Alarm Clock Radio - alarm clock radio, clock radio

The old clock radio finally died and my husband and I thought it would be nice to have a CD player in the bedroom to listen to audio books in bed now and then (yes, I know, but it depends on the book!!). We've found the sound quality on such an inexpensive item to be extremely good, it's easy to tune the radio in and we like the huge time display - I can even see it without my glasses at night!! So far, it's awakened us at our ridiculously early get up time during the week without fail. No complaints - very happy with this clock/radio/CD player. Sony ICF-CD815 AM/FM Stereo CD Clock Radio with Dual Alarm

I read the positive reviews on this Sony so I thought I would buy it for my 18 year old daughter who is going off to college in about a month. While this Sony does sound good and has a decent alarm, CD player, and MP3 input, the radio is not only analog, but the dial is off to the side is very tiny. It also has no battery backup!!! If listening to the radio and tuning in stations is not important to you I say go ahead and buy this clock radio. I expected that the radio part of this clock radio would have been much easier to both see and use for the price.

This product has really been a great asset to my bedroom. The controls are easy to use and I can receive most of my favorite radio stations. This clock/radio/cd player allows you to select specific tracks and setting the alarm is very simple. You can wake up to your favorite track, radio station, or the buzzer. The only thing I may not like about this product is the fact that the buzzer has a low pitch sound, but it increases in intervals. Specifically, the alarm sounds in five seconds and then gradually goes to three, and finally every second. The product also allows you to adjust the brightness of the clock in three settings. Overall, I'm happy with this product.

The cd player skips at the least bump or vibration, it's much larger that it looks in the picture, much larger than it needs to be and the multifunction switches are trouble. And last but certainly not least, Sony has set a new low in alarm clock technology...where every other manufacturer in the world has a battery backup in case of a power outage...the Sony Dream Machine does not! I guess they figure if there is a blip in the power you should just go on "Dreaming". Oh and by the way, make sure you have the instruction manual handy, once the power goes back on you'll need it to go through the process of resetting everything. If you're looking for a really good and less expensive radio/cd player alarm, check out the RCA RP5600.

BEWARE!!!

This is a great looking clock radio, but if you've previously relied upon a clock radio with a battery back up, look elsewhere.

MORE WARNINGS!!!

The sound is good, and having a CD player is also nice, but if you want a specific station, this is also not a good radio for you. It has a dial at the right hand side with numbers etched into it, however it's not very accurate, and mine has bounced between stations 101.1 & 101.5 frequently (on its own of course).

I took mine back, but would have gladly paid $10 more for a similar product with a battery back up, and better ability to hold a station.

I'm simply looking to pass my misfortunes along to the community, in hopes of saving anyone else the same aggravation. Best of luck!

I have not purchased this unit, but studied it closely in a local store. It had all the features I liked except two which is why I am writing: (1) no headphone jack; (2) no battery back-up in case the power goes out. Other than that, I liked the size, price, features, and MP3 line in. Just wish it had two more features.

I bough this for my dad as a gift. The fact that it does not have a CD loading mechanism and uses a simple manually opened door is great. It's one less thing that can break and he doesn't have to wait for a slow opening loader. Clock numbers are very large and bright. Sound quality is decent and clear. It's not a full fledged stero system but I didn't expect it to be. It even features an input in the front for digital music players. It does its job competently and has a solid quality constructed feel.

The following statement, from the "Technical Details" section of the product description, is a deceptive claim:

"CD player with CD-R/RW MP3 playback and digital AM/FM tuner"

The CD player is NOT capable of MP3 playback, and the word "MP3" should be deleted from the statement. The next "Technical Details" statement:

"Audio line-in for MP3 players with included cable"

...completely describes the MP3 playback capability of this device. To include "MP3" in both statements implies CD-MP3 playback capability, AND audio line-in MP3 capability, which is deceptive.

This is not a deception by Sony, as nowhere on the product box is this claim made. The responsibility for the deceptive claim lies with the vendor.

This Sony CD player/alarm clock seems to be a great product so far. I got it for my 7 year old daughter and she has had no trouble operating the unit (I set the alarm for her). Again, the main drawback is the lack of battery back up but other than that I love it. I don't mind that the tuner is analog since digital tuners may skip over low signal stations. I love the Sony quality sound in such a multi purpose application! My main problem now is listening to her single Disney CD over and over and over.... I guess I will have to do more shopping!!

Purchased as a means of listening to MP-3 files on CD-R discs, and although it explicitly describes this capability in the product description, it has no such ability!! It sneered at the cds with mp3 files, and none of the box descriptions nor the scant "manual" mentions this facility. Since others have also reported in earlier reviews, it's disappointing that Amazon hasn't fixed the description yet.

By the way, the tuner wasn't very good at all, either. Sound, what you expect for $40. - Sony Alarm Clock Radio - Clock Radio - Alarm Clock Radio - Cd Alarm Clock Radio'
