Pocket Camera - camcorder, kodak

I am a Canon diehard fan. But Canon does not have anything that compares to Kodak Playsport HD waterproof pocket video camera. At 1080P the video recording is acceptable. But, at 720p and 60 frames per second this camera rocks, the results are great. I have used it around and in water, the blue filter helps under water. I am planning to use this for our Disney World vacation this year in the Water Parks.

This camera takes 5MP HD Stills, so now I have a camera that can take video and stills on demand wet or dry. I have other camera's in the same category like Flip and Samsung both do not compare, even at 720p 60 frames per second. $150.00 pricetag is also very affordable.

Easy to carry, very user friendly to move files from the camera to the computer or directly to Youtube. Nightvision would be nice but most of my recordings will be in Daylight. Bottom line great camera and I have no cons to talk about. Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera (Black)

Over Christmas, my wife decided to award my awesomeness by getting me a Zi6. I loved this camera like a fat kid likes cake and took it with me everywhere that I went. Suddenly, my daughter was living her own personal Truman Show and everyone on my Facebook friends list was subject to video after video that I'd shot just about anywhere that we were of her being cute.

Not even a half a year had passed before I was totally devoted to the idea of the Zi6 but still wanting something with a little more horsepower under the hood (Image Stabilization, Facial Detection, Backlight Suppression). I was planning to go with the Zi8 but then I found this little bad boy. The Zx3 is essentially like the dashing, more adventurous midget version of the Zi8. It has the Zi8's guts but in a pint sized, water-proof body.

Pros:

1. Its freaking waterproof! In my opinion, this is almost 100% necessary with a camera that you carry around with you all the time. I'm often too stupid to come in out of the rain so the mere fact that this camera can take the moisture makes it a perfect fit for me.

2. Facial Detection, it works! The camera does an outstanding job of metering from whoever's grill that I happen to be getting all up in while using it. There's a noticeable lag when panning from the shadows to some sun-worshiping hippy but it's not that much. Maybe 1/3 of a second.

3. The image stabilization keeps my shots steady even when I'm jogging behind my 4 year old little girl as she goes from one place to the other being totally riot. It's digital instead of optical so it isn't perfect but it's still a far cry better than the Zi6. It¡¦s definitely a welcome upgrade as my footage no longer looks quite so much like every scene in Cloverfield.

4. I don't use the backlight suppression as much as I thought that I would (mostly don't need it) but its nice having it there.

5. I personally think that the low light performance of this camera is quite crunk! I've read lots of other reviews with people complaining about it but these folks probably complain that they don't get a side of caviar whenever they order a drive through happy meal. It's a pocket-sized camera. In my opinion, the Zx3 has the best low light resolution that you're going to find without upgrading to anything larger and more financially damaging to your checking account.

Cons

1. The thing runs on a proprietary battery so, unlike the Zi6 there's no more relying on AA's and Viagra to keep me going all day long. Kodak says that you'll get 90 minutes out of a full charge but they're lying to you like a bunch of dirty liars. Expect an hour without previewing.

2. Oddly, the 1080p recording mode doesn't make that much of a difference. The Zi6 maxed out at 720p and definitely got a worse picture than this Zx3 but that's mainly due to the internal processing differences between to two devices. It's not really a complaint, I guess. I've just found that 720p at 60fps is just as good or better than 1080p at 30fps.

3. This camera's lack of a macro mode makes it impossible for me to film my fungal infections to email to my doctor for diagnosis.

4. No case was provided! :( WTF Kodak? My Zi6 came with a case. True, it wasn't a very good case but it was there and I loved it! This one doesn't have one. I'm currently using one of my kid's unmatched socks to keep the screen and lens from getting scratched while it's in my pocket. Why does Kodak want me to be so ghetto?

5. The codec records in the .mov file format. This format is big and really annoying to edit in as it eats up processing power and makes your computer stupid. Know going into this that you're going to have to convert your files into a more manageable format before splicing together the next Citizen Kane.

All in all, I'd say that the Zx3 is pretty much the most amazing thing that I've owned ever since my wife got me my Zi6. The better image quality alone makes it worth the $150 that I paid for it but it's also waterproof! My wife didn't know that before I dropped it into my koi pond. The look on her face alone was priceless and worth every dollar spent.

I was, and still am, blown away by the quality recording I am getting off of this compact and rugged little camera. the 1080 setting can be a little blurry and choppy, but it is still better than most other compact camcorders I have used. The 720/60 frames setting is wonderful. I was astounded at the smoothness of the video, as well as the quality. Here's the trouble though, and hopefully not indicative of a larger issue.

I recorded an event for about 45 minutes, and after I was through, I looked back at the camera. The record light was still on, the screen still showing a live preview, but the recorded time number had stopped at about 37 minutes. All the controls were unresponsive. Not even the power button worked. After about 5 minutes, I had no choice but to remove the battery to shut the camera off. I turned it back on, and was shown an exclamation point where the video I had just shot was. The video would not play. I removed the 8gb SD card and plugged it directly into my computer, and the file size of the last video shot was only 67MB, not nearly high enough for 37 minutes of 720p @ 60frames per second. I am still unable to get even that fragment to play.

Color me heart-broken.

As I said, I hope this is not a sign of a larger, or more common, problem. But until I hear otherwise, I wouldn't use this camera when you really, really want to make sure you end up with a copy of the video (wedding, birthday, mat mitzvah, divorce, whatever). - Kodak - Camcorder - High Definition - Pocket Camera'

Cordless Drill - cordless tools, 18 volt

This is my 3rd 14.4 volt drill, 3rd generation has really improved. The shorter body allows me to work in tighter areas. I origionally thought the led was a joke but I have noticed that the led light has been pretty handy as I have used it in areas with low lighting, it does work. I was also pretty impressed with the speedy battery charge time. It's nice to see that dewalt has stayed with the same battery configuration since my first drill back 10-15 yrs ago. DEWALT DC730KA Cordless 14.4-Volt Compact Drill/Driver

Have always had a 14 volt DeWalt. No need for the 18, too heavy. Wore my 14 out so I ordered this one. Delivered fast and used it almost immediately. Can't beat the price, especially with the case and two batteries and charger. Remember to charge the batteries first.

Excellent product...I would recommend this to anyone looking for a drill. I had a Ryobi cordless drill prior to purchasing this and after 7 years it finally died. As a result of using Dewalt drills owned by friends, I thought I would purchase one myself. This drill exceeded my expectations greatly. I loved my Ryobi drill and did not want to let it go but glad that I made this purchase instead of another Ryobi...

I bought this a few weeks ago at a local store for just south of $100 on sale. It replaced a 12 volt model I have used for 10 years that finally gave up the ghost - in fact to replace with a 12 volt would have been more costly due to the sale so I went with this one.

I have been very pleased with the performance of this unit and especially the fast charging and additional power compared to the 12 volt. My first project was a 15 foot red cedar garden bridge I built to cross a small stream - this involved drilling about 20 half-inch holes and screwing in about 400 deck screws. For virtually the entire project I was constantly using this drill and by the time I went through one battery pack the other one was charged and ready to go (so about an hour or more of constant use, which is impressive).

I am looking forward to using the more compact design in tight spots as that had been an issue with my prior drill and the LED light looks useful as well.

UPDATE 12-18-10:

Several months (and several projects) later and this drill is still going strong. The LED light is really not too useful, however, as the chuck creates a shadow right where you are drilling. Easily fixed with a piece of electrical tape to cover it up, if you want to bother (I haven't). I think this feature would be of use if they put the light down just above the battery on the front, shining upward into the area where the drill bit is. But then again, I'm not a tool designer and there is likely some reason that would not work. Anyway, still a great product which I would buy again.

Good drill driver, 14v is better than 12... You will notice that when you release the trigger in 2nd

speed(only 2nd) that it grinds to a stop. That is normal according to a Dewalt repair tech I showed to in person.

This thing drives good, a bit better than the 12v, and drills good, I use 2nd speed for drill even though they say use speed 1 in manual. Is a bit shorter than my old 12v but is a bit heavier too. But ok.Worth 135$. Too bad the Panasonics are so stupidly overpriced.

The drill itself is performing very well. It's the DeWalt carry/storage case that needs improvement. My previous drill was a Makita, its carry/storage case had room inside for me to store a 35 piece drill driver set in its own hard case. This allowed me to grab the drill in its case and go, without having to remember to carry the drill driver set separately like I have to now with the DeWalt. The DeWalt case is actually larger than the Makita, but there is too much space wasted on plastic molding. The interior space could easily be reconfigured to accommodate a case for drills/drivers.

Richard

Rutland, MA

I am very satisfied with the DeWalt Drill/Driver. The 14.4 Volt drill is the workhorse for our Set Construction Crew. We put on three productions a year and we have found that this drill is powerful enough to accomplish our needs from light work to repeated heavier work such as three inch screws through 2x4s. We have dropped them a few times and they have survived. Thanks for a great product.

For the easily confused... When you buy a kit, the part number has a suffix like "KA". Your drill part number is "DC730" without the suffix. The kit part number is the combination of both, like "DC730KA".

Overall I would recommend this product to anyone needing a quality drill but does not require the extra power of an 18V unit on a daily basis. As a result of not being an 18V unit, it is substantially less bulky and easier to handle in tighter corners. Dual batteries is nice in that you can be charging one while the other is in use -- something I had to do very frequently during a recent home renovation.

Once again I was faced with dead batteries for my cordless drill, and replacement batteries cost almost as much as new a whole new drill set. I opted for the new drill for an extra thirty bucks. It is basically the same drill I already have, with a few improvements. The new drill is just a little lighter, and has a light, both are nice to have. The power is still there, the first thing I did with it was stir drywall mud in a five gallon bucket, and it had no problem. The only thing I didn't like was the small case it came with, there is no room to store drill bits, ect. Other than that, I would say it is a good buy, it's just seems such a shame to throw out my old drill for no reason. - 18 Volt - Cordless Tools - Dewalt - Drill'

Iphone Car Charger - iphone 3gs charger, car charger

Being an iPhone 3GS user, I know how expensive the simplest items can get. If you love to spend money and want the best of everything, this may not be the product for you. If you are like me and just want something that works and won't break my heart when it stops working or comes up missing - then this is a great deal.

Such a good deal that I got several of them and I have them in my car, my wife's car (she has an iPhone 3G), and I pass them out to my friends as nice gifts.

The charger feels like a toy, very light and I wondered if it even worked, but after several months of a hard life in my Jeep, it has proven to be a champ. Car Charger for Apple iPod iPhone 3G 3GS (White)

I tried first time and it charged my new iPhone. Second time it didn't charge instead overheated my iPhone. Since then my iPhone is acting wierd. In the middle of an app, it exits. Hangs for couple minutes for no reason. Starts iTune out of nowhere.

Be carefull, don't fall for a cheaper piece. Pay extra and get a decent one. I do not recomment this to anyone.

I spent more on the shipping than I did for the charger itself. IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK. Eforcity doesn't refund shipping and handling..so returning it would be pointless. I'm really annoyed that all of these reviews are so great and the merchandise I buy is broken.

I bought 3. One overheated, even though it worked. I'm afraid to use it now. The other blew a 5amp fuse in my cigarette lighter but the phone was saved, thank goodness. The third I gave as a gift and now can't remember who it was. I feel guilty because it could destroy their phone.

Please BE CAREFUL using this product. If it gets hot, you might consider the possibilities for your car and your phone. Is it really worth it?

I bought this cause the crappy battery life of my 3gs and need a little something extra to make it through the day. Was cheap and fit my budget. I have used this charger for a month now about 4 times a week regularly and nothing is wrong yet. I liked it so much I bought one for a relative. I have tested this charger with the 3gs and the 1st gen ipho e and both work.

From the reviews it looks like this product is a hit-n-miss. Bought it because it was cheap and cheap is as cheap gets with this thing. It turned out to be another cheap charger that works for a few days but later fails.

I used this charger for 2 days, everything seemed fine. On the 3rd day of use, I started the car with the charger plugged in, but without the iphone connected to the charger. At this time, I started smelling a distinct burning smell. which i finally traced back to the charger. I quickly unplugged it and let it cool down, waited 5 minutes, then plugged it back in along with the iphone plugged in. The red light did not come on and the phone was the charging. Be warned of this issue when using this item. For now, I will look for another one here listed on amazon. - Car Charger - Iphone 3gs Charger - Iphone 3g Charger - Iphone'

Gps Carrying Case - gps carrying case, garmin mount

I needed to get a carrying case for my new gps, and most of the people who use the nuvi's use dashboard mounts, so this looked like a perfect combo.

This mount is very sticky, almost to everything. It is also very stable, no matter how sharp you take turns or stop.

The case is different then any I have seen, and is nice. The little connector stretches for 4" Nuvi's. I have theGarmin nüvi 265W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (without Traffic)

If you need both, this is an excellent deal.

The shipment was prompt and well packaged to. Garmin Friction Mount and Carrying Case Kit for nĂ¼vi with 3.5-Inch and 4.3-Inch Displays

The carrying case is quite attractive, but pretty small for a 4.3 Nuvi. I bought the 855, and although it fits you have to stretch the elastic so much you are afraid it will pop like a violin string. At the very least it is going to wear out the elastic. I plan on attaching another loop to the elastic so it doesn't have to stretch so far. - Friction Mount - Garmin - Gps Carrying Case - Garmin Mount'

Earring Organizer - earring holder, bracelet

This jewelry holder was supposed to have 48 holes for earrings. 12 holes in four rows. The holder I received had 9 holes in 3 rows or a total of 27. Odd, given that ears come in even numbers. It would not even stand up without needing to bend the feet. And to my surprise I had a much bigger shipping fee and shipping time than I originally expected. Definitely not worth the money. Jewelry Holder, Jewelry Stand for Earrings / Necklaces / Brecelets, Gift Idea

I purchased two of these jewelry holders, one for my daughter and one for myself. We are able to organize our jewelry really easy now, and hang the most-used jewelry on these holders since you can easily access them on it. The holder is actually smaller than it appears, but it can fit a lot of jewelry (we even use the loops on the top for bracelets). Large earrings are a problem though because they hang so low and wide. But the jewelry holder is nice in appearance, too, so on a night table top it looks really good with all the jewelry.

Although it was impeccably wrapped and packaged, a piece was still bent upon arrival. I thought it was a bit pricey for what I paid once I saw the stand. It holds almost all of my dangly earrings and necklaces, but I had to overlap several necklaces. It's alright, good jewelry stands are just difficult to find. It does the job.

This was cute and was exactly what i was looking for. The only problems were that it wasn't level. It wabbles back and forth. The other problem is that the shipping and handling was very pricy. It was too pricy in my opinion

I paid $25 for this item and do not feel it was anywhere near worth that much. The welding work is of extremely poor quality. There are holes that have no apparent purpose and look like maybe slips of the soldering tool. The bars are attached crooked and it wobbles on its feet. It does what I need it to do, though, which is keep my earrings organized so that's why I gave it 3 stars. It's just not as pretty as it could be solely because of the flaws in assembly. The material is actually very sturdy. So sturdy that I'm nervous to bend the feet to make it not wobble so I will try adding felt pads to them instead. I cannot recommend this product because in my opinion the workmanship is shoddy but if all you're looking for is utility then it works just fine.

I looked for a while to find a jewelry stand that would hold both earrings and necklaces, and I'm pleased with this one. (I also keep rings and bracelets on the scrollwork on the top.) The earring rows are a little close together if you have really long earrings, but I just staggered them when I needed to. Also, the product I received is exactly what is shown in the picture and described; I didn't have the problem others have had with the number of holes being wrong.

My only complaint is the quality. The stand is very wobbly, and it's not a pliable enough metal for me to confidently bend it into shape. However, I put a foam pad on only one corner, and it's fairly stable now, so I'm not too worried about it.

Overall: not the best quality, but functional and attractive.

The jewelry stand was exactly what I expected and it fit all my jewelry perfectly. However, there was one problem. It was a little wobbly, but it's nothing that a bench can't fix. I'm happy with my purchase.

It's a little shoddy when it comes to craftsmanship, but only if you stare at it. The legs are a little wobbly, but I intend to take them off anyway so I can hang it on the wall. If I didn't hang it on the wall, the stand would be too short for my necklaces.

The stand is not the best quality, but it serves its purpose for the money. It would have been nice if it was a little bit taller so my necklaces would not touch the bottom. Overall, it's a good purchase. - Earrings - Bracelet - Earring Organizer - Earring Holder'

16 Gb Usb Flash Drive - flash drive, 32gb flash drive

Edit to review... the more I worked with it at home, the more I noticed it was faster on my home PC. My initial test were on my work laptop. I think the software we have on our work PC's may limit the speed of the USB ports as it scans what is being done.

I did the same test at home under Vista and got a 31.24 MB/s read and a 20.43 MB/s write so it's actually faster than they advertised. Wow. I posted a screen shot of the results in the User's Pics.

I would still like it in a metal case, but because it has everything else going for it, I'm taking it from a 4 star to a 5 star because I really like this drive. It's doing everything that I need it to. I think I may even buy another.

----------------------------------

Long story short - this is a nice drive (so far). You should get it if you need a small, light, fast, 32 GB USB flash drive. I gave it 4 stars only because it doesn't feel as though it would be a rugged drive and the black plastic. If it had a metal casing, I'd have given it 5. Read on for more info though.

I was skeptical about getting this drive. It is fairly new to the market, and I couldn't find many reviews on it. I'd just gotten a Cruzer locally and luckily it was still in the packaging since when I looked it up at home, I saw how many people didn't like how slow it was. To me, that's part of getting a big 32 GB drive. If it were a small one I was going to keep some documents on, it wouldn't mean so much, but this drive was going to be an all purpose one. One of them was to sometimes move large amounts of data between computers. I didn't want that process to take 6 hours.

I was told that I should get an OCZ, but this one was on Amazon in stock. I could get it shipped that night if I placed an order within 35 minutes. I decided to TOFTT. As promised, Amazon shipped it that night, and I got it the next morning.

I benchmarked the drive with Crystal Disk Mark (it's portable and free). Doing a sequential 100 MB file gave me 24.57 MB read and 17.25 MB write. The write speed almost hit the advertised 18 MB and is a lot better than some others I was seeing in the internet searches. Real world test, I was able to transfer a 1.5 GB file to it in under 2 minutes.

I think it will meet my speed needs so I can now replace carrying my USB hard drive with it. On trips, flights, going to meetings, etc it will be much smaller, and I won't have USB cables stretched across the table. This drive is smaller than many I've looked at and is very light. It's going to stick out from my laptop less than my wireless mouse adapter.

The look, finish, and feel remind me of the back of my iPhone 3G. Black plastic that shows finger prints and looks as though it would scratch easily. I'm going to keep in in a USB wallet so that won't be as big of an issue. Because of the wallet too, I'm not as concerned about losing the cap. If you need something rugged to put on your keyring, this may not be the best one. For my needs though it will be good. Transcend JetFlash 600 - 32 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive TS32GJF600 (Black)

Time is money and I have saved enough time waiting for booting or copying files to pay for all 4 of these high speed USB flash drives. I use it to transfer large creative files to clients. I use a few that are dedicated strictly for computer repair - one for Windows, one for Mac and one for Windows anti-virus. Try quickly troubleshooting a computer without opening it up where not only the OS is broken, but so is the CD/DVD drive! Use it once to make a client happy and the flash drive pays for itself. The Transcend lifetime guarantee is just icing on a very yummy cake.

I also have a JetFlash 300 which I have used for years. It's still going strong and working hard. Pay less for a no-name or less reliable flash drive, and you'll end up paying more by needing to replace it. Transcend flash drives are small, stylish, and reliable.

Great price for a 32 GB flash drive. I tried it out and it took about 40 minutes to offload 28 GB of pictures and video, so I am not sure if that is a fast speed. The flash drive is very small and looks real nice in black. It feels very fragile though, so I would recommend being careful with it and maybe placing it a little bubble pouch when carrying it around. For the price, you can't beat it.

This drive is VERY fast, and it's slim enough to use with the USB port on the bottom of a new Apple Mac keyboard. Mine went through the laundry and came out unscathed. It's also low power enough to work from the keyboard USB on a Mac, which is a real convenience. Very happy with this product, a good value.

This flash drive is great a nice size for a Ubuntu(linux) partition with 2 GB of swap. Linux preforms wonderfully and does not seem slow at all. I even run a VM off of Linux while the actual files of the VM(Virtual Machine) are on my hard disk drive. Im not sure how well it will work with other operating systems but i Imagine that as long as it is not windows it would work well. My only complaint is that i already lost the cap its small and hard to find unless you are good at keeping track of things like that.

I love this drive. Very fast data retrieval. The software from Transcend, Jetflash elite leaves a lot to be desired. I downloaded Signup Shield portable because this is the best software I have found for a jump drive and password storage. The delivery was as promissed and on time. Thank you!

I have several USB flash drives and SD cards from different brands that I bought during last 6 months (Lexar 8GB, ULTRA 4GB, Patriot 4GB? SanDisk 16GB etc).

This Transcend JetFlash 600 32GB is much faster all of them.

I've changed my review three times on this. Benchmarked and also timed folder transfers. For a 300 MB directory, it took about 1 min and 3 secs on a Mac desktop. I did this also with a 32GB Patriot Xporter and 16 GB Voyager Corsair which gave 1 min 32 secs and 1 min 54 secs respectively. Ergo, the 600 is much faster than competitors. I'm giving it five stars even though the case really is fragile but speed is the overwhelming factor for me.

I also tried benchmarking the Jetflash 600 with HD Tune pro with windows 7 - 64 bit. It gave disappointing results, around 13 MB/s writes and 17 MB/s reads. Don't understand the discrepancy between the PC and Mac here but I'm guessing the win 7 driver is not the best. - 32 Gb Flash Drive - Flash Drive - 32gb Flash Drive - Usb Flash Drive'

Marshmallows - chocolate, microwave

I ordered this for my three kids. We love roasting smores on a campfire but do not get to do that too often. When I saw the low Amazon price, I had my doubts. I was still so excited to try this out. It came in and the kids and I tried it for dessert. It was just as easy as promised. It took only 30 seconds to cook the marshmallows evenly and perfectly. The chocolate doesn't really start melting until you take it out of the microwave which is good. It is less messy that way.

I could not recommend this enough. We use ours very regularly. I have already bought three more as Christmas gifts. Wonderful, simple, inexpensive. What more could you ask for? Go get your own!! Progressive International GMMC-68 Microwavable S'Mores Maker

I got this as a joke gift (for my pregnancy craving of s'mores) and it actually works well. The plastic arms hold the crackers in place, and all of the s'more was evenly melted--with the crackers still crisp. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 since it's really not much faster than making a s'more over a burner or fire. Still, the product does what it promises and makes a great s'more.

Sometimes I find a perfect device to entertain my grandchildren. But first the item must interest them, and second it must have some feature that leads to continuing use. Then Opa (grandpa), can entertain the kids.

This device meets my criteria. The S'mores maker cooks in the microwave. Preparing the graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate can be taught in minutes. Then, I let them make their own s'mores, under my supervision (mostly because of the microwave).

Next, this device retains interest. Once the child eats the first S'mores, he is hooked. The child will want more. This works, and Opa is seen as the s'mores man. "Opa, can we make some `mores?" A delightful sound.

I really like this product. Sure, we could make the same snack by piling marshmallows and chocolate on graham crackers and putting them on a paper towel. But there is a special something about having a device. Children like devices. So for me, it is s'mores and grandchildren. I recommend this product. It leads to good time.

My brother loves making s'mores in the microwave, so I bought him this as a Christmas present. Even though it's not something that's 100% necessary, it was a funny little gift that is actually pretty practical. If you've ever made s'mores in the microwave before, you know that the marshmallow balloons out and you need to keep an eye on it as it "cooks." This little device stops that completely- you add water to the back part, which helps the marshmallow cook evenly, and the "hands" gently compress the s'more as it heats.

Personally, after having s'mores made both with and without this little device, I think the marshmallows actually taste better after using the device since they are more evely heated. The chocolate tastes better too since it has more time to melt. Of course, you can save $7 and still make s'mores without it, but if you know someone who loves s'mores, it's a cute and inexpensive gift idea. Highly recommended!

I can't put this any simpler: Perfect Smores. Every. Single. Time. There is no longer any need to go camping as far as I'm concerned. It is so incredibly easy to use. It's also a fun activity for kids. I'm a huge s'mores fan (favorite food on the planet). I was skeptical that this gadget would produce anything close to my idea of what s'mores should be. I was so wrong. The only difference between the microwave version and the campfire version is the marshmallow doesn't get brown. It does still get nice and gooey. Clean up is almost non-existent. When in doubt, throw it in the dishwasher (it's dishwasher safe). I don't know what I did before this. Suffer, maybe, and wish it were camping weather.

I had my doubts that this would work but I have not been disappointed. I'm only using a single square of chocolate with the smores and they come out great and consistent every time. I even bought a couple extra to bring to friends houses when we visit.

I wasn't sure about this and went back and forth about ordering it. The price was so low so I figured it couldn't work that well.

You simply fill the reservoir with cold water, load 1 smore under each arm and place in the microwave for 30 secs and the chocolate comes out nicely melted but not too much and the marshmallow is just cooked enough still soft. Yum! My 2nd grader can do it! - Microwave - Cooking - Dessert - Chocolate'

Epson Workforce GT-S50 Review

I've been looking to move to a more paperless environment at home. It seems I get a daily deluge of mail that I have no intentions of archiving in its original form. I decided that the time is right to get a document scanner and start archiving these documents into PDF for safekeeping and retrieval.

My initial goal was to get a Fujitsu Scansnap but I was a bit put off by the fact that Fujitsu made separate scanner models for Macintosh and PC. Im on a Mac right now but I like the flexibility that PC support gives. So I decided to keep my eyes open for any other cross platform scanners and the Epson was announced shortly afterwards.

So after unpacking the Epson Workforce scanner I noticed the heft of this product. It's a sturdy peripheral and well designed in my opinion. The installation process was a bit

tedious. I had to supply my administrators password 6 times to install the various application and drivers. I do not know if Windows will have the same annoyance.

The software included for Mac is Abbyy Finereader 5 Sprint, Presto Bizcard reader, Epson Scan, Epson Event Manager. Let me be honest and frank with you. The bundled software literally looks like it comes from the 90s. Epson should have done better and partnered with better vendors. Fujitsu includes Adobe Acrobat and a superior Cardminder for business card scanning in addition to the superior scansnap manager.

The performance of this scanner is stellar. I ran a page through at 200 dpi and it felt as though it was ejected rather than fed. At higher dpi the scanner slows down a bit but its still a good performer. I've been having some issues with the deskew feature. I scanned a few small documents and they were not properly deskewed and captured slightly crooked. I looked at the driver and the deskew button was grayed out. Still haven't found out why I'll keep checking. All document scanners tend to skew the scans a bit so deskew is important if you like your documents straight.

Application support- The Epson Workforce scanner uses TWAIN (industry standard) and ISIS (higher end) drivers. I found that my Adobe Acrobat 9 easily accessed the scanner, and quickly created a searchable PDF via its OCR function. Acrobat with built in OCR and a document scanner may be all some of you need. It works very well. Other applications I tried didn't always have a TWAIN interface preferring to to use Apple's Image Capture. No worries though you can setup which folder you want to scan too and some applications will "watch" a folder for files to import. Suffice it to say you "will" get your documents into your app somehow even if you cannot scan it in natively.

Comparison. Fujitsu this year announced the new S1500/S1500m Scansnap. It is not available nor on Amazon at the time of this review but it is now on Fujitsu's website. I downloaded the data sheet and user manual for the new scanners. They are impressive. In addition to a sensor that can tell if two sheets have been fed (a feature of the Epson GT-S80 at more $$$) they also automate some of the scanning. You can toss in files of differing sizes with no problems. The biggest thing though to me is the Scanmanager software seems so much more fluid and modern to me. I also read that it may support both PC and Mac platforms in one device which was a feature I had to have. I will keep my Epson which works great yet is no frills and see if the Epson Scan software improves though I could see myself replacing this scanner with the S1500m and taking advantage of the superior Scansnap software. Epson WorkForce Pro GT-S50 Document Imaging Scanner

For the last year and a half, I've been using a Fujitsu S510 SnapScan page scanner, which is a natural competitor to the Epson GT-S50. So, when I was offered the chance to review the Epson, it seemed like a natural fit - somebody looking to purchase one is likely to also look at the other. (Go to Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 Sheet-fed Scanner to read that review. It was fairly far down, on page 4, when I last looked.)

Let's look at the two scanners...

First of all, both scanners are top fed and scan both sides of a page in a single pass. They are infinitely faster than the scanners built into the "all-in one" printers and suitable for high volume scanning...the Epson is rated for 1200 pages per day.

The Epson GT-S50 comes with both TWAIN and ISIS drivers, giving it with a clear advantage in interfacing with software from other companies. Almost every program that can read from a scanner uses one or the other. The ScanSnap, on the other hand, uses its own proprietary driver, which only ties into their ScanSnap Organizer program...a program that displays small images of the scanned pages. Both scanners come with OCR programs, for converting scanned images to editable text, but, with the TWAIN driver, only the Epson directly interfaces with different programs - OmniPage Pro, Textbridge, or whatever else you prefer.

The Epson driver offers more choices in output resolution. Whereas the SnapScan has four levels - Normal (150dpi), Better (200dpi), Best (300dpi) and Excellent (600dpi) - the Epson has eight levels ranging from 75 dpi up through 600 dpi. For some strange reason, neither company's software allows you to name the output file before scanning. After scanning, you'll need to manually rename each file with something recognizable. (The default date/time stamp doesn't give you any useful information if you need to find a file a month later).

The Epson ships with software for both Macintosh and Windows systems. I've tested both versions in a mixed Windows/Mac network and they both work smoothly. The Fujitsu ScanSnap, on the other hand, comes in dedicated Mac (S510m)and Windows (S510) models. I've only used the Windows version.

Both scanners are similar in their physical shape, although the Epson looks quite a bit larger...it's about 1" longer, 2" taller and an inch or two deeper than the SnapScan. It holds 75 pages in the input slot, versus 50 in the SnapScan. The Epson has a two-line display on the front. The SnapScan only has "scan" and "power" buttons. Both units are solidly built and give the feeling that they'll last for a long time...I've used my SnapScan for 30K+ pages and it's still going strong. Both units have user replaceable pads and rollers to keep them running smoothly.

How do they operate in real life? To begin my testing, I fed the same 42 page document through each scanner. The document was complex as they come, with both text and color graphics on most pages. It was also laid out to be used in a vertical flip chart (letter-size, but bound on the short edge)...from the scanner's perspective, the back-side of each page was upside down. My theory was that a scanner that could make sense out of it could handle almost anything...

The Epson scanned my test document faster than the ScanSnap, but software processing of the scanned image took longer. The ScanSnap took 3min 10sec from the start of the scan to PDF file creation, without using text recognition; the Epson took 4min 6sec. The OCR software runs in the background on the SnapScan, but runs in the foreground on the Epson. Because of this, the SnapScan can be used to scan the next document while the text is being recognized, while the Epson remains busy until it's completely finished. My test document tied up the Epson for 12min 20sec from the time that I started the scan until the OCR finished and saved the file. My computer's no slouch, but a faster computer would obviously shorten that time. If you use an outside text recognition package, you can always run it at a later time and eliminate this time waster.

The ScanSnap features automatic rotation of upside down and landscape pages. (Everything is fed in vertically on both scanners.) The Epson doesn't...you get what you feed in. In my test document, the ScanSnap flipped the upside pages right-side up. The Epson left them upside down. Even with the upside down pages, the OCR worked fine.

The Epson can handle mixed page sizes in one scan. You can drop all your receipts in and have them scanned at once. The ScanSnap needs all the pages to be the same size in each scan...a longer page is assumed to be a misfeed and aborts the scan.

The Epson has a straight through paper path. It can handle credit card and ID Card scanning. The ScanSnap doesn't and can't. This makes the Epson perfect for a medical office where health insurance cards are always being copied.

The Epson can scan documents up to 36" long. The ScanSnap stops at legal size (14"). This is useful when you are scanning cash register receipts, but as a practical matter, I seldom run into anything else that's longer than 14"...at least not without also getting too wide for the scanner.

Using the default settings, the ScanSnap had a sharper output at 600dpi. Clicking the "unsharpen" box in the Epson software produced a scan that almost exactly matched the ScanSnap's output...why unsharpen actually sharpens is a mystery. In solid-color blocks, the Epson was clearly superior, producing a solid-color output. The ScanSnap had a lot of off-color noise that was clearly visible when enlarged.

The Epson also has the ability to drop out colors, which is useful when scanning something printed on colored paper. It would also be useful if you need to remove a red "confidential" or "top secret" stamp from a borrowed document. :)

Besides the drivers and other utility software, the Epson includes PaperPort 11 SE, which is a visual file organizer. It operates similarly to the ScanSnap Organizer. I didn't test it out...the last time I installed PaperPort 11 Pro (NOT the SE version), it messed up my computer so badly that I ended up reinstalling Windows to get rid of it. (If you have a minute to kill, go read the reviews on Amazon for PaperPort 11 Pro!) I assume that Epson's version is more reliable, but having been burned more than once, I'm not about to try any version of PaperPort ever again! Both scanners use the ABBYY FineReader software. It works nicely. The ScanSnap also includes a full version of Adobe Acrobat Standard...a $200 program if you were to go out and buy it separately.

So....which scanner would I buy? The short answer is that it depends on your application. If you're using both Macs and Windows machines, the choice is clear...the Epson works with both. Both scanners are built for years of use and each has unique features (e.g. card scanning) that point it in one direction or the other. The Fujitsu ScanSnap is designed to be a more "push the button and it goes" type of device. The Epson GT-S50 is more flexible. I like them both. - Scanner - Epson - Duplex - Scanners'

Womens Watches

I absolutely love this watch and the price was easily $15.00 to $20.00 cheaper than any local retailer. It looks much better in person than on the website and as someone who is always looking for watches with black dials , this definitely fit the bill.I've purchased Armitron watches before and in my collection I have an Armitron watch that I have had for 10 years and it still works perfectly. Would recommend this to anyone. Armitron Women's 752433BLK NOW Diamond Accented Silver-Tone Bangle Dress Watch

this picture may not do this watch justice but it is very beautiful, thin & dainty for any woman that isn't into the typical bulky watch. great price and the links can be removed to accomodate small wrists. if you are skinny & petite this watch is a must-have!

Hi,

I ordered this watch to gift it to my mother, and it looked awesome in real then the picture. My mom loved this watch and so did I. The packing of this watch was perfect, little confusing though. Just on the sides there is written Press, just press it and pull the watch out. Loosening or tightening the watch according to your wrist is very easy, unlike most of the watches where you did need professional help to do it. And it comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

I got this watch to wear to work daily as my expensive titan's band needed a replacement..I have had this for almost an year now and works perfectly.. Its cute and fits my thin and very small wrist perfectly. I have a really small wrist, so I had been looking for watches with small dials and this purchase did not disappoint me. As the band is steel/silver color, it goes with any outfit I wear for work. Got many compliments too...many people mistook it for a very expensive watch ...:) It got wet few times and I was scared if it would stop working, but luckily it did not. I gave only 4 stars because the balck ring around the dial makes it look little bit cheap like a plastic thing..otherwise, it deserves 5 stars...worth buying for what you pay..

I have always loved black dial dress watches. So when my old AK died again I figured I would try out this one

When the watch arrived, I was initially surprised how small this watch is. The diameter is barely an inch!

When I first put it on it felt nothing too special. However after a day of wearing it I noticed the huge difference of this watch compared to my old ones. This one, does not get into my way of working. Normally when I wear a watch to work I will take it off in the middle of the day becaues it bothers me one way or another. The feeling of something on my wrist constantly while I type or flip through papers just is not pleasant. However for this watch I was able to wear it whole day without feeling any discomfort. Often I don't realize it is on unless I am in the bathroom washing hands.

So for that reason alone I am now wearing it everyday. Plus it has all the things a bangle black dial dress watch should have. It is small and delicate, elegant and classic. I recommend this watch to anybody who is looking for a sleek yet comfortable watch.'

Reading Comprehension - language development, reading comprehension

This Reading Comprehension workbook has been very helpful in reinforcing skills my granddaughters are learning in their school setting. The workbook is fun, colorful, and holds their interest very well. I would recommend this product and would buy the next grade level workbooks to continue reinforcement of their learning in other areas of their school work. Keyboard Cleaner - cleaning, clean

The other reviewer said that this product does nothing for the stuff under your keys and he's right. But it doesn't claim to either. Keeping computers clean can require many products. For keyboards its best to use a can of air to blow out the things under the keys and then to use this product. We've been doing that successfully with this product (and canned air) in our public computer lab for several years now. keyboard failures have dropped and are true failures of the keyboard hardware as a result.

If you still have a ball mouse, there is also a product that can clean the inside of the mouse.

I would also like to remind you (and save you some repair/replacement money) that keyboards and mice are also electronic equipment. Don't use alot of the liquid supplied, and make sure that the computer is turned off before cleaning. 3M Keyboard Cleaner Kit (674)

The reviewer who raked this product is silly -blaming the product because he didn't have the common sense to look up what the product does. Hello? -if there's no online description how about trying the 3M site? There's a clear description there, along with a photograph of the product being used. The fact is, this does exactly what it is designed to do -clean all the muck that builds up between and on keys. And it's great for that. There are two pointed sponge prongs on each end of a sponge pad. You put the cleaner on the tips of the prongs, which fit perfectly over each key so that you can clean all four side of the key. To get under keys there is only one way -compressed air.

--

I recommend this product.

This 3M keyboard cleaner worked perfectly with my low-profile Apple keyboard. The sponge tool that is provided with the package did an excellent job of getting in between the keys, and the chemical cleaner dissolved the gunk that had built up over time with very little effort on my part. This is a very well-designed product.

This little gizmo worked great with the cleaner for my keys. In fact, the cleaner got almost all of my greasy palm prints off the lower part of the keyboard, when I thought those stains were permanent. Excellent product.

I used this product against a circa 1995 keyboard. The solution and pad removed all the grime very easily. Plenty of solution is provided. I'd guess there's about 4-5 keyboards worth of solution in the bottle.

I have an mac with a white keyboard.

When I saw the box, and the cleaning device, I was skeptical.

Much to my surprise and delight, it made my keyboard look like new, and it hardly took any time or effort. It was really easy. I highly recommend it.

A little goes a long way, so it should last you a long time.

Just received this product a couple days ago. It's basically a container of liquid, a weirdly shaped sponge/scrub tool, and a cloth for wiping off the excess gunk.

I first tried it on my Filco keyboard (cherry brown mx switches if you want to know) to see if it would get rid of some of the shininess on the keycaps. Well, it didn't, BUT -- the keys felt really clean when I typed on them, so there was definitely an improvement.

I then took it to work and used it on my apple low-profile keyboard (the wired one). After a couple years of using this keyboard, it had collected a considerable amount of dirt. A few months ago I tried cleaning it with just water and a cloth, and it pretty much was a total failure. Took me about an hour and really hurt my hands afterwards. So I was very interested to see what this would do. It was really amazing to see this product very easily restore the keys to their original white color. The amount of gunk I removed made the sponge turn brown! Yuck. After wiping the keyboard with the included cloth, it looked brand new. Awesome.

CONCLUSION:

Good product, a little pricey, but you'd probably waste that money on other things anyway, right?

I have owned my computer for four years, and though I dust all the time, I've neglected the deep cleaning of my keyboard almost completely. It wasn't the worst-looking thing ever, but being a black keyboard, it shows every speck of dust, hair, etc. I do eat breakfast at my computer every morning, so crumbs do occasionally become a part of my keyboard's life. I took the major keys off & cleaned the inside & bigger pieces completely, but I needed something to get in between all of the crevices. I tried Q-Tips & other stuff, but nothing ever really did the trick. This did everything I was looking for.

This is designed really well. The scrub side, with several drops of the included cleaner on it, got my mouse & keys "exfoliated". I cleaned in between all the keys with the red ends of the scrubber, which I'd also doused w/ some more included cleaning fluid. That left it looking great. I finally wiped it all down w/ the included cloths & it basically looks brand-new. In between the keys was so bad it left the red cleaning points a charcoal grey by the end! For the completely anal-retentive like me, having dust anywhere is a major annoyance. Now I know what to buy to get this maddening chore over with. Just wish I'd discovered it sooner!

I'd prefer this to be sold in bulk, because while there's cleaning fluid left over, the ends of the scrubber are blackened by dirt & I really don't want to use them again. Honestly, I'd rather buy a package of four or something, have a slightly bigger container of the cleaning fluid and more cloths- less wasteful packaging that way, too. I'm dropping a star for packaging only- the product itself is fantastic. - Cleaning - Laptop - Clean - Cleaning Kit'
