Pre-kindergarte - toddler toys, pre-kindergarte

Two weeks ago we got Razor A Kick scooters for my 6 year old daughter and four year old son. Needless to say my two year old son wanted to keep up with the older kids and this scooter is perfect. Overall it is smaller than the Razor A, but has a wider sturdier base. Granted it does not go fast, nor does it have the maneuverability of the older kids' scooters, but my son is happy. He wanted his very own scooter and now he has it. There is no need for him to go fast or attempt to do any tricks. While the older kids are whizzing down the block he is right next to me putzing around, happy as can be. Also, my four year old will occasionally get off of his Razor A and get on the kiddie scooter. He can maneuver the kiddie scooter fine but doesn't ride it for very long because it lacks speed and he has to constantly keep pushing off with his foot.

Bottom line- It's a great scooter for 2-3 year olds. If your child is 4 or older, and remotely coordinated, get the Razor A Kick Scooter, they will like the speed and maneuverability way better. Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter (Blue)

We were trying to decide between this and the Dora the Explorer scooter for Christmas. We finally decided to go with the Razor as it looked to be better built. It has been ridden on the street, the sidewalk, the kitchen floor and it has not had a single problem. It is quiet and solid and works as advertised. I was worried that it would be too difficult for a 4yr old to ride, but the 3rd wheel is just what she needed. This is a recent revision and includes a nifty feature: it folds up. My husband was quite happy with this. Eventually you will get to the bottom of the hill, the kid will not want to push it back up and you will be carrying it. This just makes it easier. Just a note: helmut is a MUST. They can really get some speed going and there is no good way to stop.

The two wheel razor scooters are great. We own three of them. However this three wheel version just isn't a good product. If you want a good scooter for a kids who is under 5, buy the Mini Micro (also called the Mini Kick). It's fantastic! Stable. Fast. Easy to ride. I know 18 month old kids who cruise around the play ground fast. My 3 1/2 year old daughter has used hers every day for the last 18 months. The razor three wheel scooter is heavy, slow and unstable. The front frequently falls over and is difficult to steer. We had one and I got rid of it because it was making my child unhappy. Please don't waste your money. Buy the Mini Micro, and then buy a two wheel razor when they turn 5. Then, when they're 8, buy a Grow Ped.

I'd rate this scooter average. My kid like's it. It seems sturdy & well assembled. My only issue is the friction on the wheels is too tight. I emailed razor and they said that is intentional. Pretty much all my 3yr can do is put one foot on and push with the other, by the time he tries putting the pushing foot on it has stopped. Hopefully they will loosen a little or I can assist them.

This scooter has wheels that don't turn freely when a child is riding it. My three year old son can't even coast down a slight grade without having to push to prevent from coming to a stop. If he is on a level grade or going up any kind of incline the effort to push the scooter is restrained by the "genius" design of sticky bearings that prevent the wheels from turning. I tried to get this issue resolved with Razor and they were rude and demeaning. In fact I'm giving away a twice used model if you're interested. You're better of putting your kid on a piece of plywood with square wheels than buying this POS.

I bought this scooter for my 3 year old so he would have a good quality first scooter that also looked like his older brother's Razor scooter. The first one that arrived in the mail had the plastic around the wheels broken off so we had to return it. The second one arrived and has been fine ever since but I worry about all the plastic. With a boy riding it (and one already arriving broken), I wonder how long the plastic will hold up. Considering the regular Razors are all metal, I'm not sure why the base and unerside has so much plastic on it. That's my only complaint. Otherwise, it's a great first scooter.

Look for a Jr. scooter with the two wheels in the front rather than the back. A three wheel scooter makes sense for a Jr. learner, but having the two wheels in the back make it impossible for him place his two feet on the scooter to enjoy the ride. My son's friends have have the scooters with the two wheels in the front and roll around with agility.

Besides the basic design flaw, our scooter came from Amazon with wobbly wheels and a pull stand that did not function smoothly. Also the plastic base is somewhat flimsy. We have two of the "real" Razors and expected the same quality from this Jr. version. We are totally disappointed - Pre-kindergarte - Toddler Toys - Scooter - Razor Scooter'

Bosch Spark Plugs

I have the Bosch Platinum +4 plugs in a couple of different vehicles. In a 94 Grand Caravan 3.3L I got over 75,000 miles use before replacing and they were still performing well.

In an '89 Honda Civic 1.5L they improved my fuel economy several mpg and they seemed to give me more mid-range torque and better accelleration in the 1500-2500 rpm range.

I've read mixed reviews from others, so they may not be right for every vehicle or driving condition, but they work well for me.

I wish they made a plug that fit my Harley, I'd love to try it. Bosch (4417) FGR7DQP Platinum +4 Spark Plug, Pack of 1

We all buy gas, right? Usually every two weeks, no? Getting expensive these days. I drive a 1995 Corolla and didn't realize I was only burning about 60% of it until I put these plugs in. It gave me instantly more power for the same amount of pressure with my right foot. Pretty great!

Bottom line, these are fantastic plugs, and if you're even mildly mechanically inclined, you should already have these in your cart. Just buy them!

I've used these type of plugs in my last three cars and never had a problem with them and their service/performance have been great. The first ones were the single electrod type and were installed in my 1983 Honda Accord. They were very easy to change and check due to the ease of access. It allowed me to check them frequently over the years. What I discovered. They never had any carbon build up at all. Never had to be gapped. And yes, they improved my fuel mileage average. When I retired the car it had set up for a few years in the driveway. It had not been started in a very long time but the engine oil was synth. Someone offered to take it from me to restore. When they arrived with a flatbed trailer to load it on. All they did was pour a fresh gallon of gas in the tank, swap the battery and spray starter fluid in the carb. It started on the third try!

My next vehicle was a Ford Aerostar Van and the duel electrode Bosch plugs were installed. They ran great in it too. Never had a problem with these plugs. My current vehicle is a '97 Suburban with 125k miles and has the four electrode plugs installed. My fuel mileage went up nearly 3mpg and the engine runs smooth. Before changing the plugs around 100k, (I got it used) I ran several 42 gallon tanks of fuel treated gasoline and two changes of full sythn oil to be assured the engine was clean inside before changing the plugs. And during this time, monitored the mpg rates carefully before hand. I am still getting nearly 3mpg better than before and things are still running smooth.

I purchased 4 of these plugs for my 2002 Suzuki Areo. They replaced the 4 NGK standard plugs which had been used for about 40,000 miles. From the look of these new plugs they appear to be well manufactured. Also I noticed that they were made in Germany. I enjoyed the convenience of not having to gap them. My car is now running fine with them installed. I would say the car somewhat feels slightly more powerful, but really this is rather difficult to measure. Without any way to measure it quantitatively, I can only rely on how I feel when I step on the gas. So I can't say for sure that they bring more power to my car, but at least it seems to be running smoothly. Overall I am happy with this product and how it worked out so far.

no noticeable power gains in the 99 maxima, but i didn't have to gap the plugs. that's a plus. i plan on changing the fuel filter which has never been done. hopefully, there'll be some noticeable power or mpg improvement.'

Great Tool - 18v, dewalt

Order - Excellent

Price - Excellent

Delivery Time - Perfect/Excellent

Container Received - Average (A little beat up...enough to be concerned about the item)

Hardware Condition - Excellent/Perfect

1st cut through wood fence runner - Excellent

2nd cut through metal nail - Excellent

3rd cut small wood tree branch - Good (This saw is not a chain saw....balance is not the same)

Blade Set up or Insertion lock - Good (Must be perfect or will not lock, this is good for

safety but annoying when it will not lock)

After opening the package, I attached a Dewalt XLT 18V Battery and tried it out. I was surprised on the overall

weight 8 pounds with the battery. When I pulled the trigger, the saw slightly twisted in my hand.... making me

wonder how it was going to cut. The saw is not short on torque. Nice suprise for a battery operated tool.

I then purchased some new wood and metal blades. I successfully locked the blade into place after a couple attempts.

My first cuts were on a wood fence runner and metal (nail). The saw cut through both items like butter. This battery

operated reciprocating saw/sawzall tool is a good fit for quick cuts in remote places. I have not used it in long

duration applications....yet.

I would recommend this item to a Male friend....but not my Wife. Bare-Tool DEWALT DC385B 18-Volt Cordless Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only, No Battery)

Purchased this saw a little while ago, decided to try it out on a small tree (25' tall with a an 8" diameter trunk) saw worked great! Used two battery's but cut right through everything. Its well built with plenty of power!

This is a great saw. If you already have 18v Dewalt tools, this lets you only buy what you need - no extra batteries or cases. The tool is brand new and comes with instructions, warranty and single 5/6 starter blade.

I used this all afternoon cutting fallen tree branches. It worked in the rain - getting quite wet and abused - like a champ. It never burned out or even slowed down. When the battery is just about done, it goes from 100% strength to 15% strength within about 5 seconds.

This is fairly heavy, so one handed use is possible but not fun in the long term. The blade can be set in all four directions.

This is really a quality tool and I highly recommend it. - Dewalt - Tools - Sawzall - 18v'

I purchased this for my own use as I have an extensive dvd collection. It is really handy to play a disc while there may be one on hold in my other player. The "Little Sony" plays very well, a lot like the same commands my large one has. One of the important things for me is to be able to see the status while it is playing..this has easy to read numbers that light up. The audio/video quality is excellent. About the only disappointment is the remote doesn't have a eject button but you have to insert the disc anyway so just press the button on the set. Overall I am very happy with this Little Sony, for the price you can't beat it! Sony DVP-SR200P/B DVD Player, Black

Unlike most of Sony's DVD players which are produced by Sony, this player is actually a rebranded Phillips/Yamaha player. Nonetheless, the build quality is still just as strong as Sony's own DVD players. I also own a Phillips DVD player with the same disc mechanism as this Sony, and so far, it has plugged along great for the last three years or so with frequent use. Overall, this player is ideal for use as a player for a bedroom or secondary tv, but if you are considering using this within a home theater setup, consider purchasing a player with an HDMI output to take advantage of HDMI's digital video output capability. Overall, this is a great buy!

Nice simple product. We purchased this one for a specific reason - dad has arthritus and can't navigate small buttons or remotes very well. The base unit has buttons on the top edge -- easily pressed and seen by older eyes.

I bought one of these before for $49.99, now it's on sale for $29.99, what a great deal. This DVD player is excellent quality, which is something I expect from Sony. Just about all the audio & video equipment I have at home are Sony brand, even though they are usually a bit overpriced, I'm just use to their menu system and stable quality.

Playability - Sony DVD players don't play the burned or foreign DVDs, this is an exception. It plays the Chinese Drama DVD's perfectly fine. Not that I encourage pirating DVDs, but this one plays those self burned backup DVDs as well.

Quality - The last one I got is about 1 year old now, plays perfectly fine. We use it about 2 hours every day. Even at $50, it's worth the $ by now.

Menu system - Well, I don't use much of the functions, but the fast forward is in place. Samsung has a wierd fast forward where it's 2x, 4x, ( too slow) then 64x ( way too fast). Also, this player will remember multiple DVD stop locations even after you remove it. Now that's really cool.

Before purchasing this product, I researched and reviewed possibly hundreds of dvd players. I wanted the most for the little amount of money I wanted to spend. I needed a small, sleak, reliable dvd player.

After deciding on this dvd player, I continued to review the product's reviews, hundreds of them. I found some to say it never worked right out of the box, but that was possibly only 10 or less claiming such things. Products may not always work correctly the first time, and so after reading reviews of 1-3 stars stating ridiculous things such as "it has no eject button on the remote", (you have to walk to the dvd player anyways to take out the dvd, so who cares about that feature? Not me! My last dvd player had that feature and to be honest I never used it.) I decided to make the leap and purchase. I love the 6 disk memory, I use that to the max. It was simple to set up, just plug in and go! The remote is easy to use and even came with batteries.

Overall I have already recommended this product with high remarks and will continue to do so. I have no found one thing wrong with it!

I bought two of these by mistake and didn't realize it until they arrived. Since my husband's ancient DVD player was still working, he didn't want the extra one, but we decided to keep it for a spare. After he saw how impressed I was with mine, he hooked the other one up to his TV. We both love the player. The controls are SO easy to see and operate, the quality and features are excellent, the unit is small and lightweight, and you can't beat the price!

When I say little, I mean little. This thing is thin and tiny. So if you are looking to add to an impressive display of audio/visual equipment in your home theatre move along. For functionality, ease of use, quality of device it is awesome! I can take a movie out watch a bunch of other movies and then stick the first back in there and it starts off right where I left it. I love not having to look through all the scenes.

I had a few disks that would not read well with my other players, so I thought I would try this one because it advertised as being able to read bad disk. I didn't expect it to work, but it did. Kudos! Nothing fancy, but now I can see my movies. No Super VHS connection though, but picture quality is good with RCA connecions.

We are now on the second player after the first one skipped horribly then the sound on it went out all together and we sent it back and Amazon replaced it. We now have played 2 (brand new) DVD's on this one, and it is already starting to skip. No, we do not have a thundering herd of elephants living in the house. And no, the disks are not dirty, they are brand new and personally checked by us to be sure they are ok. We are also both electronics people so we know how to set this stuff up and how to troubleshoot. So we must conclude this player is a piece of junk and you get what you pay for or don't (what, you thought you would get something good for thirty seven bucks? get real - we're about to). 2 thumbs down on this garbage.

This DVD player can mesh right into any home theater system. Let me clarify a few points. Lets talk about the video. This DVD player has component output for video and can deliver a smooth 480P. A component cable can and will carry the same resolution as an HDMI, minus the audio part. Ok, this player cannot upscale regular DVD's. But trust me, you don't want to upscale regular DVD's to a 1080 format. It looks like crap. I tried upscaling on my PS3 Blue Ray player only to get crappy results on my 53 inch HDTV. All HDTV's have component inputs.

Coming to the audio as far as a home theater is concerned. It has got a coaxial audio out which you can plug into a receiver and enjoy the nice 5.1 surround. Again the HDMI is useless as you want the receiver to play your surround sound and not the TV in a HT setup..

All set and done, this is a good DVD player for playing the standard resolution dvd's. If you want to go the HD route, consider a Blue Ray player for pure not upscaled hi resolution video and lossless audio..but then the $37 for the sony wont get you anywhere.'

Yoga Accessory

When I first saw my girlfriend with her yoga mat so carefully strapped over her shoulder, I had to have mine. The yoga bags never worked for me. It takes a long time to put my mat in one, at least the one I had, and then after class I never want to put it back in after all the perspiration. The strap is great and it even fits my larger and bulky Manduka mat, it is reliable, and made of great material. I also have used it to do neck stretches and other stretching exercises so it already has been serving on multiple layers. Love it! YogaAccessories (TM) Yoga Mat Harness Strap

This carrying harness/strap makes carrying my oversized yoga mat much more comfortable. My mat is 1/4 inch thick, so I have to roll it very tight in order to be able to fasten the clasps, so you can figure that a thinner mat will go in quite easily.

This does exactly what it is designed to do, no more, no less. The fastener straps are adjustable so they accommodate a wide assortment of yoga mat thicknesses. The carry strap, while not adjustable, is long enough to carry on the shoulder or to sling over your head to carry the mat on your back (Ninja style, as I prefer to call it). I did pinch myself rather painfully on one of the fasteners once (blood blister!) but I was probably not in the moment.

I bought the yoga mat strap and found that the velcro isn't long enough to accomodate a tightly rolled mat. It slips right off the end and the strap is too long to carry so I end up holding the mat anyway. I stopped using it!

I ordered this strap in conjunction with YogaAccessories' 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat. The strap holds that mat just fine and it is the right length.

Sometimes it's hard to get the shoulder strap around because it is quite short and not adjustable.

Pretty good little strap carrier. It's slightly tricky clasping it together...as in I have to pause my conversation to make sure I have it the right way. Tricky as in it takes 5 seconds verses effortless. NBD (no big deal). But it does the job, easy to carry, minimalistic. I like mine.

This strap appears to be well constructed. The thicker of my two mats barely fits. The shoulder strap (not adjustable) is fairly long, so I'll need to tie a knot in the strap to make it the length that I want. It's also a little awkward to put on. Overall, I'd prefer the strap that came with my mat if it weren't for the fact that it's falling apart. (It is simply two elastic loops with a shoulder strap in between, which is very easy to put on and to adjust.)'

Verbatim - dvd recording, dual layer

Quick Summary: Burns at 2.4x or 4x on Plextor 716A burner; Verbatim DVD+R DL burned with the Plextor 716A is PLAYABLE in EVERY DVD Player (at least 20 and counting) I have tried!!! Awesome.

Full article:

I recently used the Verbatim DVD+R DL media to back up a couple of my most popular DVD's. The original was 8.1GB in size and contained about 50 music videos. I couldn't get it to squeeze down to fit on a single layer disc. Verbatim DVD+R DL to the rescue!

Using my new Plextor PX-716A burner (an excellent DVD Burner!), I used the included PlexTools program to make a copy of my DVD. Note, the original DVD is not protected in any way.

I burned the DVD+R DL at 4x speed (approx. 28 min. to burn). There is a selection in the Plextor's software to "overwrite" the book type of the DVD+R DL so that it looks like a pressed dual-layer DVD to settop DVD players (to avoid a confusing older DVD players). I used this setting (it is by default) to burn the DVD.

When it comes to DVD burning, there is no better test than the compatiblilty and quality test of the burned disc. The test is simple, put the burned DVD in as many players as you can and see how many can and cannot read it. Well, I have to say that I have tested this DVD+R DL in over 20 DVD players so far, and ALL have played it with NO COMPATIBILITY issues whatsoever. This finding is as good as or better than all DVD+R and DVD-R (single layer) I have ever used.

After having read all the reviews on the web about how incompatible burned DVD+R DL discs are, I have to say, the Plextor 716A and Verbatim DVD+R DL combination blows everything else away.

Yes, the discs are kinda expensive, but if you have valuable or irreplaceable DVDs to back up, they will work for you. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Just a couple quick notes:

1. To ensure compatibility among all DVD-Players, be sure you set your recording software to finalize all DVD+/-R's with the DVD-Rom booktype. If you do not, older DVD players may have trouble recognizing the DVD's. The Plextor drives have a setting (via Plextools) that will allow you to force them to always finalize with the DVD-Rom booktype!

2. I have burned about 200 of these Verbatim DVD+R DL discs successfully and have used no other brand. I refuse to even try another brand. There have been only 2 out of all of them I had problems with. First one I put an adhesive label on, and the label warped the DVD. When I tried to "flatten" it, the DVD cracked center-to-edge and I had to toss it. Second disc had a few read errors on it near the layer switch. The bonding on that disc appeared to be a bit weak near the center, as some of the dye was inconsistent there. Go figure as to why the problem was at the layer break at the outer edge of the DVD. Verbatim 95166 8.5 GB 2.4x-6x Double Layer Recordable Disc DVD+R DL, 10-Disc Spindle

I am burning these discs on a Lite-On LH-20A1S and a Sony DRU-810A, and they work flawlessly. Maybe it's the fact that they are on Sony's compatible list for the drive or that they are quality discs, I don't know. But what I do know is that the picture quality that I got from my copy was PERFECT. NO PIXELATION, NO DROPPED FRAMES, and NO PAUSES. A perfect burn.

I ran the Verbatim discs through DVDInfo Pro and it came back with write speeds of 2.4, 4.0, and 8.0 (see picture.) The box mine came in says "up to 6x speed," so you MIGHT be able to push it to 8x with a high speed drive.

For everyday, general consumer use you should find that these discs will give you a high quality, dependable burn. Some may ask if they are archival quality, and I have to say that my guess is 'no.' Unless the disc specifically says "archival quality" then I would assume that they are standard discs (which have been found to deteriorate over time.

I highly recommend these discs for your approved DVD+R DL burner. (Remember to check the media compatibility of your drive BEFORE you purchase these discs or any other disc! See your drive manufacturer's website for details.)

Verbatim DL used to be by far the best DL media available. Reliable, stable in storage, and consistent high quality made by Mitsubishi in their Singapore plant, one of the highest quality DVD production plants in the world.

Not any more. Verbatim has outsourced a large part of their DL production to a plant in India, and now when you buy this media you have a high chance of getting made in India - this product is poor, often with obvious physical defects in the media like bubbles, holes and foil delaminates.

It is possible to still find made in Singapore cakeboxes on store shelves, but if you can't actually read the disk label before buying you are rolling the dice when you buy.

It is a real shame Verbatim does not offer the Singapore product as a diferent grade. It would be worth a few extra bucks to get a cakebox that had a 95% success rate vs. the 50% rate the made in India product gives.

Verbatim has really gotten a black eye in my book with this stunt. - Dvd Dual Layer - Dual Layer - Dvd Recording - Verbatim'

Bose Computer Speakers - bose, speakers

I have Altec Lansing ATP3 back at my home. They're a pretty good 2.1 set, and never had problems with them. But now, I'm away from home.

I set out to buy speakers to help me relax in my hotel room. My first choice would have been a 2.1 system. But since I am put up in a hotel room, a 2.1 system would prove heavy on my floor-space. So, instead I started to look out for good 2.0 systems.

There are several tiny speakers in the market, but all of them compromise sound quality over portability. I am ready to drag along some weight if needed, but I didn't want tin cans.

After a lot of research, I ended up with two options - Bose Companion 2 Series II and Klipsch Promedia 2.0. The Klipsch ones had excellent reviews all over the place. The bose speakers were rather new and haven't yet received a professional review anywhere. My deciding factor was the size. I wanted the smallest of the speakers without a compromise on sound quality. The klipsch speakers were larger than the Bose. So, I had to choose Bose. I didn't get to listen to Klipsch Promedia 2.0 anywhere, so I can't do a comparison. On the other hand, I did get to hear Klipsch Promedia 2.1 before and they're exceptionally good. I would prefer them to any Bose system if I was OK with a 2.1 system.

I had heard Bose Companion 2 (the older ones) at a Bose store, and didn't like them much, as they sounded tinny. A lot of screeching sound, and a lack of bass. But I found Series II to be much better. Thanks to Bose for overcoming this problem even if that needed an increase in the size of the speakers ever so slightly.

Now that I had only one option, I went ahead and brought these speakers home. Needless to say that these speakers were really good. I could hear the player's fingers rubbing against the guitar wires and all.

I listen to a lot of Rock, Jazz and Classical. The sound is really balanced, and reproduces bass, mid-tone and treble on more or less equal footage. I believe the bass and treble are amplified a little more. Maybe that's a decision Bose have taken to "define" their desktop speakers.

The advantage Bose has to other speakers of the same class, is the digital circuitry they probably use to enhance the sound to bring in increased stereo separation and roominess to the sound. The sound coming out is definitely more pleasing to the ears, and feels room-filling. You wouldn't get this experience with speakers from other brands, however faithful they are in reproducing sound as exactly as recorded.

Now, an advantage that's almost a disadvantage. These speakers are so accurate in reproducing the sound that you cannot forgive playing mp3s at low bitrates. You need mp3s to be coded at least at 128kbps for the sound to be acceptable. I rip my music at VBR 192-320kbps and I find it hard to differentiate between the original CD and the mp3, So, never over-compress your music.

Now, two clear disadvantages. The first is that these speakers are built to aim their best sound at the person sitting at the desktop. The sound fills the room, but you lose out on the spaciousness. The stereo separation is good at 6-10 feet away, but the spaciousness is lost. So, these speakers do have a sweet-spot, and that is a chair right next to the desktop. I wish Bose provided swivel stands, so that I could point my speakers at my couch and still get the best from the speakers.

Disadvantage 2. I have played at least 200 tracks by now. The sound reproduction was near perfect, except for one track. I was playing a classical track "Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, "Eroica" - Scherzo: Allegro Vivace". This is an mp3 that has been shipped along with Windows Vista. Somewhere in the middle of the track, when a trumpet is played at a particular note, the right speaker gives a buzz. It means that I hit the natural frequency of the right speaker, and that resulted in resonance. I totally understand every object has its own natural frequency and you can't help it if you make a sound matching their natural frequency. But I am disappointed Bose didn't build it tight enough to avoid the buzz. I am not sure if this a defect in the speaker. But I can't return these speakers showing that the speakers buzz in only one track out of 200 tracks.

That's about it. The speakers are almost the best you could get in a 2.0 to my knowledge. The only contendor would be the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 2.0 and if you have enough desk-space and don't need them to be as portable, you could as well go for the Klipsch. But you mght miss upon the spacious-feel circuitry that Bose uses.

Advantages

* Good balance in sound. Enough bass - I don't miss the woofer

* TrueSpace technology - whatever this thing is, your ears will like it

* small size - almost portable

Disadvantages

* Speakers aimed at the desktop user. No swivel stands

* Buzz on right speaker playing a particular track (not sure if

this is a defect)

I am tempted to put price as a disadvantage, but I failed to find speakers of the same class at a lower price. So, I would rather leave the price alone. Bose Companion 2 Series II multimedia speaker system - Bose Computer Speakers - Bose - Speakers - Bose Companion 2'

Air Tool Accessories - impact wrenches, air tools

That's right. Our shop uses these 231's for regular duty and tire service. These things last for years despite being dropped on the floor, not oiled regularly, and zero maintenance. Typically the power selector knobs are the first thing to go on these wrenches. If you need good performance and a tool that will last a long time then this is your wrench. Ingersoll-Rand 231C 1/2-Inch Super-Duty Air Impact Wrench

I'm a professional diesel mechanic, and I will not buy any other impact but this one. My first one lasted me for 10 years, through drops, kicks, no oiling, etc. I only don't have it anymore because I moved and sold it to a friend who still uses it. I have put this thing head to head with impacts 3 times the price of this one, and it has always been the strongest and most powerful. Most of the people in my last shop borrowed mine because it was the most powerful in the shop, and nearly everyone at my new shop has one. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I needed a impact wrench for rotating my tires. Originally I bought a Harbor Freight Special...... and it wouldn't turn the lug nuts on my Silverado or Trailblazer for nothing. I bought this baby with my money from Christmas and I am very happy. I rotated my tires this weekend without a problem! I was concerned with the compressor I had. I was worried it wasn't big enough for tools like a impact wrench. I have a Makita MAC2400 4.2 CFM and it was good enough for this wrench. So far I highly recommend!

I bought this for my hausband whom is a full time mechanic with his own business. He had an old Ingersoll Rand impact that was given to him and it lasted several years before finally wearing completely out. This one is GREAT!! He absolutely LOVES it. It is fast and powerful. HE says he would recommend it to ANYONE! great price, too.

Background:

I decided to replace my own brakes for the first time because I would rather spend the money on tools, knowledge, experience so I can do it myself for the rest of my life. I was able to get the calipers off but the bolts holding the caliper bracket wouldn't give. Heat, quenching, PB Blaster, nothing would move these bolts. I knew I needed an impact wrench.

Side by Side:

I first bought the Coleman Powermate 024-0077CT impact wrench because it was cheap and the specs seemed good to me. I thought 250lb of torque (Supposedly) would be enough to remove those stubborn bolts. No joy. The Coleman had a hard time with the lugnuts and didn't move the caliper bracket bolts at all.

I went to a local store and purchased this Ingersoll Rand 231C wrench. I got it home and it buzzed those bolts out like they were only in finger tight! I made no changes to the air compressor and all of the other parts (e.g. air hose, sockets, etc.) were the same.

Results:

You really do get what you pay for. I only wish I would have read the Amazon reviews before I wasted money on the Coleman. Oh, and I paid approx $50 more than Amazon price for the IR wrench locally. :(

Re

The first thing I do with any new tool is to grasp a full understanding of maintenance and care before using. The many professionals who rave about the 231C are right about quality, durability and price. Here are a few things I discovered that are not mentioned. The Product Information manual is a runt. Inside the front cover is a small diagram, less than 2 inches square, showing the tool and all lubrication points using tiny icons which I found to be somewhat confusing. So I contacted IR customer service for clarification. What a surprisingly courteous and helpful reply I received. They were great and answered every question I had. I've used impact wrenches all of my life. The 231C is a prize and I wanted to treat it right. Here's what I learned. Complete lubrication of the 231C is done at the factory. Since the owner's manual also covers the 231H and the 244A, the one diagram shows the lube points for all models. There is only one grease port on the back of the 231C. Add grease after 40 hours of use. If you do not have an in-line lubricator on your pressure hose, add 3 drops of oil/air tool lubricant to the air intake port every 6 to 8 hours or daily. That's all. IR offers an Impact Wrench Care Kit and it is sold by Amazon.Com. It includes the grease gun, heavy duty impact wrench grease (105-4T) and air tool lubricant (10Z4) . If you want the best, deserve the best, buy the best.

Gentlemen,

I recently purchased this impact gun, which would be my first. I must say that i love the power. I use it for tire rotation, brake jobs, crank pulley bolt removal, etc. The torque is great; I can't even turn lug nuts any further than this tool can by hand. The power selector knob is great for varying power to the socket. I bought the IR 14pc socket set (metric), which by the way, are beautiful! too bad the finish gets messed up as you use them.

I chose this gun over a Craftsman impact, the particular one could not be rebuilt with a kit like this one can. Beutiful aluminum finish on the body, I think I will buy a protective boot for it. - Impact Driver - Air Tools - Impact Wrenches - Ingersoll-rand'

Replacement In-refrigerator Water Filter...

I have a Kenmore refrigerator form Sears that I bought about a year and a half ago. Kenmore is actually made by Whirlpool and although the filter this replaced was labeled Kenmore, this is the exact same filter but labeled Whirlpool instead. I looked it up on the Sears site and they wanted $50 for the same filter. The price is a steal and even though it says 6 months I used it for over a year since I have soft water in my house and only one person. My fridge has a 6 month built in timer that goes from green to orange to red when the 6 months is up. I thought it might be based on actual usage, but it's not, because it went red at exactly 6 months and I use far less water than most other households. I have no idea why more time would harm a filter, as far as I'm concerned it's just a marketing tactic to get you to buy them more often then needed, like oil changes every 3,000 miles.

This filter fits my Kenmore Elite side by side which takes the Sears 9030 filter and at almost half the price. The only difference in this filter is it does not say Stage II or Kenmore. The water tastes exactly the same to me as when I used the Sears brand and I am very aware of the water taste since we have hard, extremely chlorinated water in my area. I wish I had found these filters - 4 Sears brand filters ago ... serious $$$ savings!

This is a good filter at a substantial savings compared to Sears. It will fit into your Kenmore Frige that takes a PUR filter.

Some interesting Facts not all know: Why to change your filter...

Eventually the AC filter (Active Carbon) loses its ability to remove contaminants, because it becomes clogged with material. In the case of taste and odor, the time to change the filter is easy to detect. However, in the case of other contaminants, it is more difficult to determine when the filter is no longer performing at an adequate level. Most manufacturers recommend a filter change after a certain volume of water has passed through the filter. Some AC units actually meter the water and automatically shut down after a specific quantity of water has passed through the filter. A general rule of thumb for high-volume AC filters is to change the filter after six months of use or 1000 gallons of filtered water. Tests done by Rodale Press Product Testing Department indicated that filtering performance was reduced dramatically after 75 percent of the manufacturer's recommended life time. These results suggest that filters should be changed more often than suggested by the manufacturer. Some AC filters are claimed to last for five years, because they are rechargeable with hot water (145 degrees F). The heat is supposed to release adsorbed organic chemicals. Little information is available on the prolonged effectiveness of rechargeable AC units. General recommendations are somewhat useful quidelines, but there is no guarantee that they apply to any specific situation. Remember, the only certain way of knowing whether contaminant levels are acceptable or not is by having your water tested.

A sediment filter installed ahead of any AC filter will prolong the life of the AC unit. Sediment can easily clog the pores of an AC filter within a short period of time. A good sediment filter can be purchased for only a fraction of the price of most high volume AC filters.

The Bacteria Issue

AC filters can be a breeding ground for microorganisms. The organic chemicals that are adsorbed to the AC are a source of food for various types of bacteria. Pathogenic bacteria are those that cause human diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery. Public water systems must treat for disease causing bacteria; therefore, the likelihood of disease causing bacteria being introduced to an AC filter from public drinking water is remote. AC filtration should only be used on water that has been tested and found to be bacteria free or effectively treated for pathogenic bacteria.

Other types of non-pathogenic bacteria that do not cause diseases have been regularly found in AC filters. There are times when high amounts of bacteria (non-pathogenic) are found in water filtered through an AC unit. Research by R. L. Caldron and E. W. Mood (1987) shows little risk to healthy people that consume high amounts of non-pathogenic bacteria. We regularly take in millions of bacteria every day from other sources. However, there is some concern for certain segments of the population, such as the very young or old and people weakened by illness. Some types of non-pathogenic bacteria can cause illness in those whose natural defenses are weak. Flushing out bacteria that have built up in the filter can be accomplished by running water through an AC filter for about 30 seconds prior to use. Water filtered after the initial flushing will have much lower levels of bacteria and ingestion of a high concentration of bacteria will have been avoided. The flushing procedure is most important in the morning or any other time of the day when the filter has not been used for several hours.

Some compounds of silver have been used as disinfectants. Silver has been added to certain AC filters as a solution to the bacteria problem. Unfortunately, product testing has not shown silver impregnated AC to be much more effective in controlling bacteria than normal AC filters. Only in the first month of operation did there appear to be any advantage to using an AC filter that contained silver.

EPA requires registration of all types of water treatment equipment that contain an active ingredient for the purpose of inhibiting the growth of microorganisms. Registration does not guarantee that the product is effective. It only guarantees that the active ingredient will not leach from the filter at levels that would be a health hazard.

2-way Radio - two-way family service radio, 2 way radios

3.5 stars. I bought these walkies for use on a cruise. The walkies did the job on the ship and I was successfully able to communicate with my friends while on board. There was often static during the calls, and conversations greater than 5 words each way, were difficult to hear. We were able to communicate, because we kept our responses to 1 or 2 word answers. I was able to reach my friends anywhere on the ship, the Carnival Elation. Once I left the ship and went to Ensenada, Mexico, I was unable to reach anyone in my party. I got nowhere near the 5 mile range advertised.

Having never used a walkie before, I found the setup and use extremely user friendly. I did not have to replace the battery for the entire length of the cruise (4 days), and I used the walkie multiple times per day. I did turn it off after going to bed.

I purchased the pair from Radioshack for $20, and believe that for the money, you can't expect more than you get from this radio.

Summary:

Pros: low price, user friendly, lightweight, uses three AAA batteries

Cons: Quality of call, range is nowhere near 5 miles as advertised.

I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a cheap way to communicate with others, for short (no more than 5 words per response) conversations, within a 1 mile radius. Motorola TalkAbout FV300 10-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair)

The radio doesn't have any where near the range or clarity it claims to have. Other than being compact which was a great feature, the radio is no better than a cheap radio you would give a kid to play with.

All of the 12 different Motorola Talkabouts that I have bought over the past 11 years, including my 1999 T-5950 model, ALL had 121 Interference Elimination Codes (Privacy Codes, or Squelch Codes). The radios use this code when they transmit to activate the speakers on the other radios in the group on the same channel and code.

The model radio listed on this page does not have this code. That is fine if you only use FRS/GMRS radios without codes, but if you want this radio to work with others that use these codes, you'll have to disable that feature on all the other radios.

As for range, I tested it at 100 meters, through a couple of houses, and it worked fine, with some static audible. I like the fact that all the buttons, including volume, can be locked, so that pockets and kids can't change the channel, or turn it down by mistake.

This is, by an inch, the smallest Talkabout I have owned, which is good. The radio body is just 3.5" long.

These radios have to be practically touching each other to get a signal. If you have clear line of sight you get no more than 400m range... if you go around a corner under urban conditions, you can be no more than 25m away. A complete waste of money.

I gave the set to my nephew as a Christmas gift knowing that it is probably more powerful than he needs to use around the house and in the yard. I anticipate, though, that these walkie-talkies will be with him for years and as his range increases, he'll still be within range of his walkie-talkies.

Fabulous for inside and out. Click..What? You need water...Click Ok...on way up! So much fun! The on/off should be a little more clear so as to not run out of battieries, but Mrs. Claus's advice is to ALWAYS have triple AAA's around. Enjoy! - Two-way Family Service Radio - 2 Way Radios - 2-way Radio'

Camera Strap - hand strap, strap

Much cheaper than Name brand solutions and surprisingly well constructed. Much cheaper than a name brand solution. If you have been looking for a hand strap but don't want to pay the canon prices get it you won't be sorry. The pad does not have any kind of logo on it so it looks professional. CowboyStudio Hand Wrist Grip Strap for Digital & Film SLR Cameras Canon Nikon

I have two Canon Rebel EOS 450 XSi cameras so I purchased two Cowboy Studio Hand Wrist Grip Straps. Ordering from SUPER DEAL in Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday, the order arrived here in Oregon SUPER DEAL fast - Friday morning. Wow! I guess that is why shipping was a little high priced. Still, two of these hand straps at around $10.00 total (delivered to my door) is a GREAT BARGAIN.

I have added the extra battery and extended external hand grip to both cameras. I was worried that the Battery Grips would make the straps too short to fit. Na, they are sufficiently adjustable to easily fit even this set-up - even with my fairly large hands.

I took off my neck straps and easily replaced them with the Hand Strap Grips. If you want to have both on your camera at the same time, maybe you should order the one made by OPTICA. Personally, I hate the neck strap that came with my Canon cameras. It advertises my presence as a photographer with an expensive camera that is visible from quite a distance. I like to get candid pictures when I first arrive most places and the neck strap often makes that impossible. Also, I do not particularly want to advertise the existence of my camera to the local growing population of the homeless and desperate. Then there is the annoyance; when I use the neck strap the camera will bounce off my body as I walk - unless I hold it with one of my hands. With the Hand Wrist Strap the camera is actually safer than bouncing around as I go thorough doors, underbrush, etc. And it's a lot less tiring.

The wrist straps I received are very well made and adjustable to fit perfectly. I wouldn't trade them, not even for the expensive ones that are Canon's own brand. (Theirs was criticized a lot by reviewers.)

As mentioned several times by earlier reviewers, this product is so small as to barely cover one's knuckles. The pictured produce infers that it is a "wrist grip," however the actual product is so narrow as to be barely restrained by one's knuckles. Even then, the product tends to slip from the knuckles due to the weight of the DSLR (in the instant case, a Canon T2i), which at times almost caused me to lose grip and drop my DSLR. I immediately removed the product to avert the strong possibility of accidental damage to my camera. This item is probably more suited to use with a small point-and-shoot camera...utilized by someone with small (very small) hands. I truly feel cheated in this purchase.

I bought this CowboyStudio Hand Wrist Grip Strap ship & sold by Amazon and have to return it due to lots of CONS:

- It is not made from leather but from a very cheap material.

- The image on the package does not match with the strap itself.

- The strap does have JJC logo on it. It does not blank like other reviewer said.

- The strap has many design flaws: The connector is right at the knuckle and it hurts my hand no matter how I adjust the string. In addition, the supporting pad lifts up when you wear the strap. It does not support the backhand at all. In summary, do yourself a favor and find another product.

I have a Canon Powershot IS20 and thought a comfortable wrist strap might be more useful than the neck strap. Unfortunately, the strap fits more over my knuckles and fingers than my hand so it doesn't feel very secure. I might incorporate it into a fingerless glove to see if that feels better.

Product was what I expected. Received reasonably quickly. It does what I wanted it to do, mainly protect an expensive peice of equipment from falling out of my grip. I thought the mailing costs were extreem in view of the reasonable price of the product.

The padding doesn't sit well on your hand. seems like the should have angled the stitching differently so that it sits snug against your hand.

The connector on the bottom is kinda bulky and adds nearly an inch to the height of the camera.

could use a place to clip on a neck strap as needed.

It was worth money though and was more comfortable than wrapping my neck strap around my wrist.

it's made out of cheap plastic, and you have to take it off to use a tripod, or change the battery.

I took it off, and I am not going to be using it!

it's not the one they show in the picture, they shipped me a ZEIKOS

it says Professional on the package, but it is far from a Professional Photographer they are talking about.

the pad between it and the camera fell off after only a few days, and the tripod mount screw doesn't ever get tight, or stay tight no matter what I've tried, don't waste your money on this cheap thing! - Hand Strap - Wrist Strap - Camera Grip - Strap'

Surge Protection - surge protection, power strip

I had a power surge in my house. The only thing items that got damaged were the ones on this surge protector. It made loud pops, smoked, and arced until I unplugged it. I called file a claim but the policy is such that

1) you only get reimbursed for the value you could resell your damaged products before the damage occurred

2) you have to go to a repair store (lugging your tv and electronics) and pay the repair store to give you a quote ($40 fee) just to have a chance at a refund

3) you have to pay to mail back your surge protector

4) Belkin may request you to mail your damaged devices for them to check at your own cost (seriously, mail my dead tv?!?)

After multiple phone calls with Belkin (whose customer service is polite), I've come to the following conclusions. This is a scam. The $5 surge protectors did their job. My laptops were fine. The expensive surge protector made a mess, let my equipment get toasted and resulted in a lot of hassle that didn't even help me get a replacement tv.

I wouldn't recommend this to an enemy! Belkin 12-Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector with Phone/Ethernet/Coaxial Protection and Extended Cord

There are a lot of reviews on this product, but I had to add mine. After lightning struck a tree next to our house, our neighbors suffered several appliance failures, including a blown TV. Ours, including our computer survived (plugged into one of these). More amazingly, the outlet this was plugged into blew out of the wall, frying the protector, the TV lost its color for 3 days, but then popped back in and we are still using it. Our electrician says, he's never seen anything like it, but he's recommending this surge protector now.

Good, clean design and layout. Flexible enough to accommodate up to 6 power bricks without blocking the other outlets (4 on the wide face, 2 more on the ends of the narrow face). A "Not Grounded" warning light is a great feature that provides additional peace of mind.

I mounted it on the underside of my desk to get all the wires off the floor. The thoughtful design extends to the keyhole for screw mounting which gives you the option of forward or sideways engagement. It works even better when upside down because the cables hang down instead of draping over.

On the quality side, the on/off switch feels flimsy, and 3 prong, grounded plugs take some effort to pull back out. Belkin probably figured these actions aren't frequent enough to warrant complaint, i.e. most people just plug in, switch on, and forget about it for the next three years, and cost reduced these components to keep the price down. It's a good compromise. I'm very pleased with the product and the price!

I had a lightning strike near my house which wiped out my router, network switch, and motherboard-based network adapter. I had a UPS so assumed I was safe but it looks like I got a voltage spike on my cable tv line which then spread from the router to my ethernet cable. Now, my cable, ethernet, and power connectors are all protected should such a thing ever happen again! Plus, the wide spacing of the outside outlets on this Belkin surge protector allow me to connect all my network gear, two computers and monitors, and my entertainment center. I did considerable research before selecting this surge supressor and am very satisfied.

Rubbermaid - rubbermaid

I've orered manay of these cooler packs for my son who takes canned drinks to work with him. These are difficult to find in stores, so I've "stocked" up on them. Even after almost 24 hours, they are still cold! Rubbermaid Inc Blu Can Cooler Ice Sub 1056-10-220 Ice Pack

Once again, Rubbermaid comes through like a champion!

I've bought so many Rubbermaid products, I should go to work for them. This purchase, contoured blue ice to fit into a small cooler, is one of the best products I've purchased. Keeps canned drinks REALLY cold, allows packing nine 12-oz cans in a "six-pack" cooler, lasts more than all day and is easy on the pocketbook. What more do you want? Thanks for giving me a GREAT product at a very reasonable price. Go Rubbermaid!

I ordered 2 blue ice can coolers from ANTOnline via Amazon. Good price, but S&H was more than the items (not eligible for Prime). Oh well, couldn't find the items locally anyway, and ordering online is so convenient.

What arrived was 2 of the square blue ice blocks, of which I have plenty. One was crushed a bit but not leaking. So I called. The lady at the other end was reasonably polite, and told me to go online for an RMA and return shipping label. So I did. As I was providing the info, they asked yes/no questions that really didn't apply. Manufacturer packaging? What's that, for blue ice, the sticker?

Anyway, I read the fine print. Even though the error was theirs, I would be required to pay an unspecified restocking fee. Blank check, eh? Well, the policy worked - I'm not returning the stuff only to take a loss. - Rubbermaid'
