Eligible For Super Saver Shipping - framing, eligible for super saver shippin

Arrived quickly, typical of Amazon purchases, and just what I expected. The free shipping and convenience of delivery helped compensate for the higher price of the nails. But all in all, very happy with the transaction. B & C Eagle A312X131HD/22 Round Head Plastic Collated Hot Dipped Galvanized Smooth Shank Framing Nail, 3-1/2-Inch by 0.131-Inch 20-to-22-Degree, 500 per Box

The product came in a plain cardboard box with no indication anywhere who the manufacturer is even though the Amazon website says B & C Eagle. The box did have a prominent warning on the outside stating that the unnamed manufacturer would not warranty the galavanize coating against deterioration for any period of time.

The nails themselves seemed to have a very thin zinc coating and were not aligned especially well in the strip. (they weren't all parallel to each other) I didn't use any so I can't say if the misalignment would have caused any jams but I'd rather see better quality control.

I recommend that you don't use this product for any serious outdoor structural project that will need to be inspected, especially ACQ treated lumber. Your inspector may want to know that you used quality fasteners. You could find yourself tearing them out and starting over with nails from a known reputable manufacturer.

Keep 'em if you're making a dog house or fence, but don't risk it for anything important. I sent mine back.

These work quite well in my Porter Cable nail gun.

What I like most is being able to buy these in small quantities. Sure, they cost more but for a homeowner that does not do but one or two projects a year this is a perfect quantity.

Also shipment/service was prompt. I typically have very positive experience buying from Amazon Vendors.

The nails that were sent to me arrived quickly and were well packaged. Free shipping was an added bonus. The country of origin was Canada. The nails have excellent gripping power and strength for my application (framing a new 500 square foot 9 foot tall space with 2x6 lumber). I have a Campbell Hausfeld 21 degree 3.5" x .131" framing nailer, and these worked just fine. The door installer remarked positively about the quality of the framing.

I have no local source for 3.5" 21 degree nail strips. I only needed a few hundred nails in this length (most of the joints could be done with 3.25" nails which are readily available). It was very nice to be able to buy these in this small quantity.

I would buy these again, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend. - Framing - Eligible For Super Saver Shippin - Porter Cable - Nails'

Ugly Stick - shimano, trout rod

Have been fishing with this rod for several weeks now and very surprised by its quality. I have several clarus, st. croix, g-loomis rods and this rod I would rank close to them. It is one of those rare time where you get more than what you paid for.

The rating on the rod it spot on, it loads well with smaller weights but still have the sensitivity with the larger jig heads to feel soft bites. Shimano Solora 2 Piece Spinning Rod (6-Feet 6-Inch, Medium)

For the money, this is a great buy. The reel operates very smoothly. I also own a Stella, and for all intent and purpose, the Solara functions as well as the Stella. Time will tell whether it holds up. Otherwise, an A+ spinning reel. - Trout Rod - Ugly Stick - Shimano'

Maytag Filter - fridge filter, maytag

I purchased a new home in august that came with a fridge that used one of these filters. I noticed when I would get water from the fridge water dispensers it would always taste metallic. Then one day the change filter light came on so I bought one of these filters and now the water from the fridge tastes great. These things really do work! They are easy to install as well. Maytag UKF7003AXX PuriClean Interior Refrigerator Cyst Reducing Water Filter, 1-Pack

This filter is easy to change - just twists out. A push and a twist back in and it is up and running. I had to wipe a little water off my top shelf the came out with removal. (search Google for your fridge type if you cannot find it). Mine was in the back of the top shelf.

It filters water. It tastes good.

Only annoyance is having to flush a couple gallons through before drinking the water. It would be nice if it was pre-flushed. This was annoying with the fridge water dispenser because it took a long time and I filled several pitchers full. I dumped this water over dirty dishes so it didn't fully go to waste.

You know, the picture shows a PuriClean filter. The title contains the words PuriClean filter. Well, I got the Maytag version of a PuriClean filter which lasts half as long. Six months instead of a year! Seems like very misleading advertising to me...

The filters shipped were not the same filters that were pictured.

I was disappointed and will be sure not to order from the seller again.

When I contacted the seller they just said the filter had changed. I feel I was given a cheaper replacement filter. That is why they were selling it cheaper than others. I ordered by looking at the filter and the number. - Fridge Filter - Replacement Water Filters - Water Filter - Maytag'

Contains Wheat - pancakes, quick

My family loves Bisquick pancakes. Most Saturday mornings I take one of these mixes, add an 8 oz bottle of water, mash and add a couple of ripe bananas and make the best pancakes you have ever tasted.

The ripeness of the bananas directly effects the taste of the pancakes, they must be ripe. We take ripe bananas, peel them, bag them and freeze them so that they will be ready for pancake day. If there is banana juice in the bag be sure to pour it into the mix too.

Try it, you'll probably love it.

This mix makes enough pancakes for about three adults, maybe a little more. Bisquick Shake 'n Pour Buttermilk Pancake Mix, 10.6-Ounce Containers (Pack of 8)

not sure where the problems occured that other customers experienced, but I was almost totally satisfied with this product...easy to mix, the pancakes came out great (if not slightly bland tasting)...my only criticism is that leftover batter tends to thicken when refrigerated...don't add extra water or the batter will be too thin...take the batter out of the fridge and let warm to room temp before using.

I like buying my pancakes in bulk like this from Amazon. I am wheelchair bound and it keeps me from having to buy only one or two of the bulky boxes of stuff. The pancakes are good and easy to make. Each one of the containers will easily make 8 good sized pancakes.

For decades, I would always make pancake mix from scratch (and to be honest, it's really not that difficult to do so.) But now that I have less time and perhaps out of laziness, I've switched to this product. It's REALLY EASY. Literally all you do is add water to the fill line (on side of jar), put lid back on and shake vigorously to mix. It's not always that easy to get the mix at the bottom to mix with the water and their suggestion of tapping the bottom doesn't work. But the mix turns out just fine. It doesn't make the nice fluff, airy pancakes that you can get from homemade mixes but it makes perfectly fine, tasty regular pancakes. And you can't beat the convenience. They're great to have on hand even as back ups. This particular size (10.6oz) I found too large for just my son and I but the smaller size is perfect. And it's easy to make pancakes for him whenever he wants.

I forgot how ggod the bisqick pancake tasted, I haven't had them for years. I'm please, I was able to find this shake & pour mix on amazon the price is good, the amount is a lot. the taste is good the pancake is light. also quick and easy to prepare.

Every Sunday is pancake day and this product produces consistent, delicious, and quick results. I know, you can make them from scratch, from a bag, and also from a box. This product ensures that pancakes taste good all the time. And how many things do you know you can count on week to week?

Have tried the product from the grocery store and loved it. We had a hard time finding this product in the stores. Since we do grocery shopping once a month we were looking for 6 to 8 and could only find 2 or 3. We looked on line and found a company to purchase from for a reasonable price except they wanted $10 per bottle for shipping, $60 for six bottles, really? We did not know that Amazon also dealt with food products but we search anyway. Not only did we find the product, we found it slightly lower than the store price and FREE SHIPPING! We bought 2 cases and plan to purchase a case a month especially in the summer time when we camp. This is an excellent product which can be altered to your liking. For instance we add Hershey's chocolate syrup into the bottle and make chocolate pancakes.

I didn't like these at all! The pancakes came out too thin and had a terrible taste. In fact I just threw out a bottle I had in the refrigerator. I'll stick to the powder in the box type. I don't reccomend this product.

The product conveniently makes very good pancakes. Be careful of Amazon's pricing. I have been ordering it through Amazon's Grocery Department for less than $18 per case. With no explanation as to why, Amazon offered it for over $38 per case. That plus shipping brought the price per bottle to over $5.00 a bottle, which is approximately $2.50 per bottle more than the local grocery stores. - Yummy - Pancakes - Easy - Quick'

Stock Market - catan, strategy game

The primary, and best, addition in this 4th edition of Settlers is a very nice interlocking border which is placed around the game tiles. This replaces the individual hex tiles of previous editions. No longer will your tiles/pieces scatter/split apart when someone accidentally bumps the playing surface! One side of the border has the ports "built in" but you still get a bit of randomness when assembling the pieces. The flip side of the border is blank "sea" on which you can put the included port tokens for a truly random placement.

The updated graphics are nice and colorful but take a bit of getting use to if you regularly play with an older edition.

The box has a vacu-formed type insert designed to hold all the pieces and keep everything neat.

All-in-all a nice upgrade to the 3rd edition.

It's a simple sounding premise: You gather resources in order to build roads and settlements to earn points.

However, there is a wonderful randomness which lends complexity to the game as the layout of the game board tiles differs with each play right down to the number on the dice needed to harvest a resource from a given tile. This makes *every* game unique. Strategy comes into play as you must determine the best location for your settlements and roads to get maximum value/points.

If you've never played Settlers, find someone who has a copy and give it a try. If no one you know owns a copy, go to your local comic shop. Odds are someone there will have a copy readily available and delight in teaching the game to a new player! It's easy to learn, difficult to master, and quick to play with a typical game lasting only an hour or less.

This is one of the truly classic games and belongs on the shelf of anyone who enjoys board gaming. The Settlers of Catan

Settlers of Catan is an absolutely fantastic family strategy game. I won't belabor my discussion of the game, except to say that my wife (only a 'casual boardgamer', not as hardcore like me) and two boys (ages 8 and 10) have been playing it for over a year, many dozens of times, with continued enjoyment. I have successfully hooked other gamers in my family (brother in law, father) on it as well, so that it shares equal time with Monopoly in our family game marathons over the holidays.

The big point to take away about this new edition of the game is that, without changing any rules, the edition includes some very handy extra pieces, esp. an interlocking set of holders to fit the tiles into, which helps prevent incidental dislocations of the pieces on the board (so common with the older edition). For those of you who have the Seafarers of Catan extension, the holding tiles are much those included in that extension (except shaped to fit the Settlers hex board).

We are avid players of Settlers (and love it), but this newest addition has some flaws that make us wish we would have bought the 3rd addition. We have had the game for about 8 months, and the interlocking border (instead of the regular hexagon pieces in the 3rd addition) have never fit right. It takes three people to get everything into place, and even then the border warps and the pieces pop out. They interlock like a puzzle piece, and they are starting to wear out, so we have finally given up on getting everything together correctly. If you were worried about the 3rd addition getting bumped and jumbled, you simply had to set up the game on a tablecloth or piece of fabric. This newer addition is impossible to setup correctly, especially as it ages.

Also note you cannot use your old expansion packs with the newer addition, as the pieces are different. You now have to pay for all the newer versions of the expansion packs, how convenient.

We still love this game and will play it regularly, it just seems the "advancements" were not tested or well planned. It is also bothersome that they made the newer additions incompatible with the old expansions, you can easily spend $150 on this game and the expansions, and you would expect that investment to last... it is a board game after all!

Settlers is one of the greatest games ever. I think it was originally created to teach capitalism. Here are my pros/cons:

Pros:

*There is enough strategy for most gamers

*There is some luck which can make things interesting. If you want to

minimize the luck factor then use 12-sided dice

*Great interaction as you get to trade and barter with other players

(even when it is not your turn.) Kids can definitely learn the concept

of re-investing in your assets and great negotiation skills.

*You can change the boardgame set up everytime so you get a different

game everytime.

*There are 2 expansions (seafarers & Cities & Knights) & other add-ons to

change up the game to continue to make the game new and interesting.

*There are extensions that expand the game to 6 players.

*Also, there are ways to "gang up" on the leader, so there are many games

where virtualy every player will be close to winning which makes it more

fun than when one player blows out everyone every game.

Cons:

*Setting up the board and clean up can be a little tedious if you are not

organized.

*purchasing the game, its 2 expansions and each corrsponding 5-6

extension can be a bit pricey. However, my experience is that the price

is worth it because you play this game so many time compared to other

games that may be cheaper.

Overall, this game is fun and can be re-played countless times due to the variable game set up. Well worth the money.

The Settlers of Catan opened me and a number of my friends and family to a game that is easy to learn as monopoly or risk but ten times more enjoyable. I had not been willing to play anything but card games for years. This game incorporates strategy, chance, and negotiating skills (you must convince your opponents to trade resources with you even though it may mean that you will win the game). The initial game only allows 3-4 players so most people will want to purchase the expansion pack which allows up to 6. However, the 3-4 person games are usually shorter, allowing time for more than one game. When teaching new players the game may take several hours to finish, especially as the number of players grows. The game indicates that the age range is 10 and up. I think this is about right. We taught it to our 10 year old niece and she won the game. Our 8 year old nephew needed to be teamed up with an adult (he loves playing the game though). Once everyone gets the hang of the rules, a game can finish in an hour. Definitely a great addition to low key, small group social gatherings. - Strategy Game - Settlers - Catan - Strategy'

Crafts For Kids - glue stick, art glues

Choosing the right glue for any given job can be confusing as there are so very many to select from these days. Life was so much simpler in the "olden days" when you had basically three choices; the tasty white stuff that smelled wonderful in a small jar which a kid in my first grade class consumed almost constantly, There was the sort of yellowish stuff in a bottle that resembled something you would find in your hanky after you blew your nose and of course, as in my case when I was very young, four and water glue your mom made up for you to use.

No, times are different now and you can sort of go into consumer overload figuring out what to use and what not. I have tried quite a number of the current `glue sticks' over the past several years and have watched numerous children use quite a variety of them.

The glue stick being reviewed here, made by Avery, is somewhat different and slightly unique in that it goes on in color and when it dries, it becomes clear. I find this quite appealing and in my case, extremely useful.

I am a senior citizen....actually; I am well into my dotage, enjoying a second childhood, thank you very much! I will be the first in line to tell you that my eyesight is not what it used to be. Quite often when applying glue to a surface, especially a large surface, I miss spots. With much of the work I do concerning by hobbies, this is not a good thing. With this colored glue the chances of my missing a spot is lessoned quite a bit.

I have found the adhesive properties of this glue to be just as good as any other brand I have tried. It is good to use on fabric (a big point for me), cardboard, paper, photographs (acid free and archival safe. another important point as far as I am concerned) and even thought it is not listed, it works quite well on dried plant leaves. Another big, big quality for me is that this glue possesses is that it is washable! I am not the neatest person in the world and can normally get any glue all over clothing.

This stuff is of course nontoxic so it can be safely used by children, or if eaten by one of your dogs, which has happened to me on numerous occasions, you can feel safe.

Now I notice that some have had a problem with the glue clumping up when applied. This product does have a more jell like quality than some I have used, but I personally have not had this problem. Of course I am quite careful and use a rather light hand when I apply the stuff. As for being messy when children use it; there are quite a number of kids out there that can mess up anything...I know, I was and am one of them. When I was a wee one you could have locked me in a cement bunker, given me nothing but a ping-pong ball, and I could have trashed the place in ten minutes. I have not changed much over the years; ask my wife. I note that some/many kids are still like that. Perhaps it is a natural thing and should be looked upon as a sign of a creative kid rather than a kid who is a sloppy little wretch. I have been called both. I suppose it depends on who has had to clean up my messes; myself or others.

Anyway, this is good stuff. I use it quite often and keep a supply handy in my home office. For me it works. The price here seems in-line with what I pay locally, but of course there is the shipping to consider. I suppose when all is said and done that this is a good tool to use on specific jobs.

Don Blankenship

The Ozarks Avery Disappearing Glue Stics, 0.26 oz, Pack of 6 (98096)

We use these for sealing envelopes, school projects, crafts, anything that requires gluing paper. I like that it is purple when you apply the glue, so you know just where you glued, but then it disappears. These are gel-like, and don't seem to dry out to that useless gunk like the white glue sticks. Great value on this multi-pack!

Although it's nice to have glue that goes on one color and then disappears, but this glue isn't solid enough to avoid huge clumps of glue coming off on the paper. I have tried many other glue sticks and much prefer them over this kind. If I had children using it the glue would be very difficult to control.

We have four kids, so we always have some kind of project going on. We use a lot of glue sticks especially during the school year. We've tried every glue stick out there, and I think most of them are exactly the same.

What makes this stick stand out is the disappearing color. It goes on blue, but quickly becomes invisible. This helps small kids see where they still need to apply glue, and gives the overall project a nice look when finished. It's also water washable, so it quickly washes out of clothes, carpet, desks and hands. It's also non-toxic, just in case someone tries a taste. They also claim it's acid free to protect photos and scrapbooking, although we don't use it for that purpose.

We buy this glue and send it in to teachers to have in the classroom - it's inexpensive and they appreciate it. With free Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25, this is a good deal. - Glue Stick - Glues - Art Glues - Crafts'

Revenge Of The Fallen - transformers, revenge of the fallen

I hear a lot of flack against this movie. So many people complain about sequels these days. Of course the second one is never as good as the first. When you see the first movie of a series, everything is new and exciting, the characters are larger than life and its everything and more than you expected because you never expected it. For god's sakes, the movie was created from cartoon characters. If you watch the old shows, the plotlines of the "Transformers" cartoon were cheesy, the animation was sub-par and the action was canned; And we loved every bit of it. The fact is; the show was about robots from another planet that can change into ordinary vehicles fight other robots that can change into other vehicles. There was no real story, that's not why we loved the "transformers". We loved them because they were cool. The movie is just that. "Cool" Micheal Bay didn't set out to solve world dilemmas with this movie. His focus was not to create a love story that trumps "The Notebook" or a robot version of "Willy". No, he set out to make movie of a cartoon of robot that fight other robots and that's what he did and he did it larger than life. This is not the Green Mile, or the Shawshank Redemption. And all the trendy sheep who insult this movie and pick it apart just to make themselves sound smart have no concept of action films for the sake of action. If you loved the cartoon, go see the movie. If you didn't, then don't. Simple as that. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Two-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

So i grew up on transformers and of course im going to love the movie... but regardless of that.. this movie has amazing graphics, storyline is awesome.. and you can trust me.. you will have moments of outright laughter.. I bought it and have watched it on more than one occasion... very enjoyable.. and this is safe for the majority of ages to watch in my opnion.

This movie transforms eye candy to a new level. This movie is not only funny at points, it is loaded with tons of special effects and action. While there have been some extensive negative reviews, I recommend that you still see it for yourself.

What I find to be a big plus in this film is that they did not cover under the darkness of night the climax of the action sequences (like in Iron Man 2 that hid its climax at night). The animators are simply brilliant and are capable of creating their wares in the full view of the sun. This is a bold step that must be appreciated.

The visuals are crisp and the 'transformations' are electrifying. This is an action film, so there is no mind bending plot here. It is just a lot of bigger than life action sequences, one after the other. There are no dull moments in this film, you if you have to get something, put this film on pause!

If you're a boy age 12 or below - AND ONLY THEN - you might enjoy this movie. For the rest of us (people over 12 with at least half a brian & up) - it's probably one of the worst blockbusters you will ever see. In your life! I'm not asking much from a movie like this - really - BUT the plot, and all characters - human & alien alike - are SO shallow & empty - that you can't help feeling personally insulted watching this trash. I'm someone that enjoyed the new Terminator, Batman & Star Trek - these franchises have evolved, while not sacrificing their Sci-Fi & Comic book roots. They gained depth & respect from audiences of all ages by becoming more - Transformers however, has gone the other direction - by becoming WAY WAY less. Idiotic jive talking robots ala annoying Jar Jar Binks infamy, hysterical overacting, and a feel that reminds you of that awful '97 'Batman & Robin' with Mr. Freeze - only worse - numbs your senses for 2 1/2 hours. All the over the top settings & special effects can't bring this movie up to a 2 star rating. And Megan Fox' character is about 3 times too hot for Shia LaBeouf, on a side note. But I don't mind either actors - I actually think they can act way better, than what they're forced to lower themselves to by director Michael Bay - someone who's 'movies' I will NOT touch again with a ten foot pole as long as I can help it. Such trash is simply offensive - it's the lowest of all possible denominators a movie can sink to. GO AWAY - MICHAEL BAY!!!

Yes, I thought the first Michael Bay Transformers was bad. I wasn't expecting the sequel to be much better, but in the back of my mind I was hoping. Michael Bay apparently decided there wasn't enough crass humor, overt sexuality, poor character development, useless moving parts, explosions, and nameless robots transforming into formless metallic amoebas in the first movie. So now there is more of all that in this one. Of course, it doesn't make the movie better, just longer.

Negatives:

1) The twins. I don't think I need to explain this.

2) Sam's parents, excessive comic relief, no importance to the story.

3) Mikaela and the Decepticon fem-bot. Ok, I'm a male, yes I think Meghan Fox is hot. I personally, do not mind seeing her wearing skimpy revealing clothes. But come on, give her some depth. First of all, this movie is being used to sell toys to 6-year-olds. There is no need for such overt female objectification in this movie. Seriously, she spends most of the movie with that pouty expression and posing seductively, instead of acting. Same complaint with the "fem-bot", I felt it was completely unnecessary to the story.

4) Everyone is comic relief. Ok, I'm all for comic relief in action movies. But seriously, you can't build an action movie around an entire cast of comedians. More than 3 comic relief characters, and you should call it "Giant Robot Movie" (ie. Scary Movie series).

5) Visual effects. Sometimes less is more. The robots are too complex, too many moving parts. It is very hard to follow the action trying to follow these overly detailed monochromatic machines as they fly through cities causing random destruction everywhere. In the original cartoon, the simpler designs were easier to identify and they were distinctively color-coded. Most of the Decepticons look the same.

6) There are no rules. Basically, Michael Bay is telling us that alien robots can do whatever they please. They can change their alt-forms at will or become giant robo-amoebas. If you hack them to pieces, each part can become a completely new Transformer. Robots can transform into people. Mechanical devices can turn into dust, communicate telepathically with humans, then reform themselves from said dust and resurrect dead Transformers. And other mechanical devices or even a tiny piece of them can turn earth machines into robots (complete with machine-guns) or resurrect Transformers.

7) Questionable motivations on both sides. So at the end of episode 1, this autobot declared he would stay with Sam forever and ever. Ah, how touching. Now Sam decides to go to college and he won't take Bumblebee with him. What a jerk. He saved the world once, but now Optimus Prime asks for his help to do it again, and college is more important. Why does Sam give the All-Spark sliver to his unrealistically hot girlfriend for safe-keeping, instead of Bumblebee, Optimus or any of those government guys? Why do the Decepticons want to destroy the sun? I mean really, Cybertron is supposedly destroyed, do they have another planet to inhabit once this solar system is wiped out?

Positives:

1) Peter Cullen and Frank Welker

2) Explosions

Neutral:

1) The battle with Optimus Prime in the woods was really cool, but it didn't have nearly the emotional impact of the animated movie from the 80's because it was decided early on that they could just resurrect him before the end of the movie. And with no "Hot Rod" character, Sam's episode of feeling guilty seemed pretty shallow.

All in all, a terrible movie from a critical point of view. People will like the movie if they are a big fan of loud booms and not optional things like story. I feel guilty spending money on this disaster, though. - High Definition - Michael Bay - Transformers - Revenge Of The Fallen'

Wireless Usb Adapter - 80211g, wi-fi

I had ordered a mini wireless USB adapter for 33 dollars thinking it was cheaper than the most.It did not work, it detected 2 connections and the quality of signal was bad.I was not able to go online with that adapter.I returned it and looked for a cheaper but more useful alternative.I found this after reading about Alfa antenna adapters.Alfas were more expensive (30-40 dollars) and I did not want to spend that much because I did not want to have a costly non-functioning adapter.I wanted to give this a chance instead since it was 12.99.If it did not work, it was no big deal.

WOW! It does work great. While the previous adapter detected only 2 networks, this detects 5-6 networks and the signal quality is good (60-80%.It stays connected at a decent speed.

I highly recommend this adapter for people who need more and reliable reception at a value price.

The only possible disadvantage of this adapter is its antenna protrusion. If you have preschoolers like I do, they might bump into it and break it.Apparently you can not have it all (perfect reception+ultra-compact design+good price) at once.

So far I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks to Amazon (for free super saver shipping) and the vendor. 802.11g/n USB WiFi Wireless Lan Adapter w/5dBi Antenna

This is a great product. Realtek has been for long time a great network interface card's chip provider. The chip on this device is indeed Realtek. This product provides good signal detection and seamless and stable connection. In order to achieve this, on Windows XP, DO NOT INSTALL program provided by the companion miniCD's autorun. Instead, plug the device and when Windows new hardware wizard ask for drivers use manual search. Then insert the miniCD and point to the correct directory on the CD according to your operating system. For Windows XP there's a folder named WinXP (<drive>:\WinXP). Then let the hardware wizard install the device from there and it will use built-in Windows Wireless Connection Manager. This is far easier to use than vendor's software provided which is aimed at a very low control level (not for the average user).

Big directional antenna is a plus on this device. It's cheap and works like a dream. Poor documentation and inadequate default management program (they should have just let Windows handle everything from the start), but you can sort this out easily.

Came with a CD of drivers for Mac/WindowsXP/Vista, but I was able to find the Realtek 8187 WLAN driver for Windows 7 on the Realtek website and changed the Device Manager settings with Windows Update. Worked pretty well so far and at a great price!

I was sick of my old Broadcom wireless card which was poorly supported, WPA neither worked under Linux nor Windows. So I ordered this one. This USB card worked out of the box: I plugged it in, it appeared in the network manager, I selected the network, typed in the WPA2 password, it worked right away. No installation of extra packages required or fiddling with drivers. I am running Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28.

The adapter works just fine with 32-bit Windows 7 - I plugged it into my trusty little netbook and it found signals I had never dreamed it would find, at far higher signal strength. But I didn't buy it for the netbook; I bought it for my desktop, which runs 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Neither the drivers on the disk (the newer packages come with the Windows 7 drivers) nor drivers from RealTek work. It especially doesn't work with the configuration software installed - and to make matters especially awesome, installing the configuration software has semi-permanently corrupted the entire networking stack on my machine, even after removing the configuration software, leading to me being unable to use the wired connection now too. I will now have to spend about $60 on an external hard drive to back up everything that needs backing up, and reinstall Windows 7 from scratch. Thanks, BlueProton!

I ordered this product and then read that there might be a problem with using it for the Windows 7 64 bit. I used the mini cd that came with it and followed the advice of a previous review to install the driver first and not use the plug and play feature. It worked great! I installed the driver, restarted the computer and was up on a wifi connection in less than 10 minutes. Price was absolutely wonderful also since I was purchasing this product for my non-profit preschool to be able to connect our desktop to a wifi connection in our building that we rent space in. The connection was fast also. I will be loading pictures tomorrow and see how that works!

I'm using this adapter on a Linux system (Ubuntu 10.04), and it worked straight out of the box. Setup was a no-brainer. I didn't need the installation CD; it's still sitting in the original package, untouched. The signal strength is excellent, and overall reliability has been 100%. Great value at a low cost.

This is a Realtek RTL8187L--if, like, me you're unable to use their miniCD (seriously, who still has that kind of drive?), you can go to Realtek's website to download the driver. As of this writing, you can find it here:

[...]

SCROLL DOWN to the 8187--don't make the same mistake I did and download the first thing on the page, which is the driver for the 8185. :) I moved the driver from another computer using a flash drive, but over the LAN would work too. Installing that will give you a little graphical interface for selecting a detected wireless network, entering the key, etc. (Look in the start menu under Realtek.) Works just like the wireless network setup interface on my Windows-based laptop. A couple seconds after I hit OK, XP found the connection, and I've had consistent reliable internet on this computer ever since.

This thing saved me way more than $15 worth of trouble finding a way to run cables to this room! - 80211g - Wireless Adapter - Wi-fi - Wireless Lan Adapter'

Kitchen Gadgets

Suddenly, I feel like cooking again. Chopping onions, dicing carrots, making perfect juliennes with red peppers and mincing the garlic fine for my famous (!) vegetable medley is...effortless. All because of these knives. Ooh they are sharp! So be careful or you may end cutting yourself!

I love the fact that the knives are sharp right out the box. Many people swear by their forged knife blades but that makes the knives heavier. I have another set from Pinzon (Amazon's brand) and yet another from Cuisinart that I barely use as they are heavier and not as sharp as these knives. I think stamped blades are great as they are lighter and thinner like these Ginsu knives. If you cut vegetables more than meat then you need knives like these. For meat you need heavier blades with more balance and "brute force". For slicing a tomato so fine that you can see through it you need a Ginsu. With a Ginsu in your hand you'll end up sculpting roses from your radishes!

Update 11/5/08: I have been using these knives for 1.5 years now. They're still doing fine and are still very sharp. I regularly throw them in the dishwasher and they have not shown any signs of rusting. I love these knives and miss them if I am cooking somewhere else. I use the steak knives as everyday knives for slicing veggies and they work very well. If I ever purchase another set I will go with Ginsu again. Ginsu 04817 International Traditions 14-Piece Knife Set with Block, Natural

We needed some new knives, but I couldn't see spending hundreds of $$$.

Yes, these are at the lower end and there are undoubtedly much better (and more expensive) sets out there.

But these feel OK, are very sharp (as other reviewers reported), seem to be sufficiently sturdy, and have ably carried out the various mundane tasks we've put them to.

For $24.99, what a value!!!

--------------------------------------

Update 11/21/08: We've had these 2 years now. The very sharp edges have gone, but the steak knives still are OK cutting, not great. But, I never sharpen them. I don't like the long thin knife (it's not serrated, so not a bread knife): the blade isn't stiff enough. (Hey, we're talking less than $30 for the set!) I really don't use the others.

I liked the steak knives so well that I ordered a second set of just them. It's a little weird at first doing paring with a serrated blade, but then you get used to it.

I'm still very pleased with the purchase overall and regard it, even as the price has increased a few dollars, as a true bargain.

I bought these knives as a house warming gift for a friend. He raved so much about them I bought a set for my home. I have several set's of knives( even the one "Chef Tony" hawks on TV) and I use these the most. I am a nut about having sharp knives and have several sharping tools but my wife hates to sharpen knives and does more harm than good when she tries to. I figured she could use these, she loves them! I must warn that these knives come super sharp right out of the box, my wife sliced off a fake nail the first time she used them. I now use these knives all the time when I cook. We love these knives so much I ordered a third set for my Mother-iinlaws house for when my wife goes over there to cook. Like all good knives they should be hand washed and dried and stored in the block with the edge up to protect them. If you want good sharp knives and are not trying to impress with the look, these are for you.

We bought this set 2 months back after reviewing them on Amazon. Since this is our first knife set I can not really compare with other name brand products in the market. But these were cheapest among the lot, and we are very pleased with their initial quality. As mentioned by other reviewers they are very very sharp, and easily cut through straight. The blades are thick and the handles look solid. We always wash/dry them by hand right after the use and never put them in dishwasher. We have not seen a single rust spot or any discoloration of handles. I will definitely buy more of these to gift friends and family.

Update on Sept 30, 2007:

After 6 months of use, I still stand by my review. The sharpness is intact and there are no rust spots at all. Very pleased with the quality and super low price. I regret not picking more of these from Sears Clearance, where I bought them for less than $20.

Update on Nov 26, 2010:

Just wanted to give a quick update that these knives are still performing great.

If you are on a budget but need good sharp knives to last you for a little while...these are great! They are sharp and they do their job well. But be warned, these do rust after about 8 months if you aren't careful. I suggest washing after every time you use them and don't put them in the dishwasher to make them last longer. Other than that, they are sharp enough for general kitchen cutting,

Okay, so we'll be honest here... These aren't the BEST knives ever. They aren't nearly as heavy and solid feeling as some might like.. but for this price you absolutely cannot get a better knife. I bought this set as a gift for someone who has a bit of a love-affair with "sharp knives"... and he was absolutely 100% pleased with this set. They are incredibly sharp and easy to manage. Best knives ever? Of course not-- but do they get the job done (meaning, do they CUT well?) absolutely yes!

As a side note-- in response to those who are complaining about rust spots-- that is what happens when you put knives in a dish washer. All knives should always be washed BY HAND and dried immidiately (regardless of what the packaging says!) Complaining about rust spots after having put them into a DISHWASHER is like complaining about ruining your silk shirt after putting it into the washing machine. With proper care, these knives will not disapoint someone looking for a good, sharp everyday kitchen knife.'

Xbox Live Gold Card

To start off, I'd like to say that X-Box Live is amazing and worth every penny. Online gaming is incredibly fun and quite a good way to pass time.

That aside, there are downsides to X-Box Live that can be avoided through prepaid cards. Number one, you always run the risk that unwarranted transactions will be made if your credit card information is stored on your X-Box 360 system. It may not happen all that often, but it's best to avoid it all together.

The biggest reason to buy prepaid Xbox Live card is the renewal process that happens when you don't use one. If you order X-Box Live through your system, it'll renew every time your subscription runs out. This wouldn't be a problem except that it's not that easy to cancel. Instead of canceling through your system, you have to go through the hassle of actually calling X-Box Live support. Even then, depending on the representative you get, you may be hassled to keep your subscription because they really don't want you to cancel it. I'm guessing that's part of their job to convince you to keep it, but it still is frustrating to the person that is trying to cancel it.

You'll have to go through this process every time you want to cancel if you don't use a prepaid card. Is that hassle really worth it? I don't think so. Therefore, avoid all of the problems by simply buying a prepaid card. You won't be sorry.

UPDATE: (3/6/2011): I updated this review about a year ago pointing out that you could disable the subscription on X-Box Live's website. As of this update, they've taken that feature away again. I'm guessing Microsoft must have seen a major increase on people who canceled their subscription, thus now forcing you to call their customer service hot-line again to cancel. Even if they add it back, just save yourself the hassle and get a prepaid card. You never have to worry about dealing with customer service that will try their hardest to get you to stay on as a recurring customer. Amazon also gives great deals throughout the year. You could save yourself $20 to $30 sometimes just by checking to see if Amazon has these prepaid cards on sale. What's not to love about that? Xbox 360 12 Month Live Gold Card

From what I can find this is the cheapest cost per month option available for a live gold subscription. Depending on the current price, it ranges from $2.9158 to $3.3325 per month. What I don't get is why this credit card sized subscription card comes in such wasteful packaging. It comes in a rather large plastic packaging, which requires it to be shipped in a box. You get free shipping, but how wasteful. Why doesn't amazon just offer the code online and not eat the cost of shipping and at the same time be a little greener?

Find the card on sale every so often each year. Don't pay the full price. The Xbox Live Gold is stellar and I love it, but I don't see how they charge $50 or more a year and you don't get any freebies...other than advanced demo downloads. They need to throw a bone for a free song or discounted DLC or a free rental every so often. I have spent well over $1000 in my 3 years with the Xbox 360 on peripherals, games and downloads. 2% of my money spent as a gift would have paid for 1600 points of DLC...that would be a nice thank you from Xbox 360 for keeping their community alive and well.

This is the BEST deal I have ever found on the Xbox Live 12 Month Subscription.

I looked 6-10 different places for a deal on this and only found 1 close to this and that was wal-fart but I dislike shopping there so Amazon was the place to go.

This should be a guaranteed buy and you CAN'T beat the Price!!!

I was worried that the card would not work in Canada, but it seems to be fine. Have been using XBOX LIVE for about a week with no problems, but will hang on to the card, as advised by another reviewer, just in case.

There's nothing more fun than being able to go online everyday day and being able to talk to and play with friends around the world. Xbox live is also a great way to meet new people and make new friends. This can be hard because there are so many immature people on Xbox Live. I would warn anyone with small children or those who do not like foul language to be careful because never in your life will you hear the F bomb or the N word as often as you do on Live. Of course there are parental settings and you can keep communications just between friends but still this is one of the biggest downfalls to Live. Another problem with Live is customer service. Yes, you can e-mail them or call them at 1-800-4myxbox (good luck getting help there) but the service is terrible. Even with these downfalls I still have to strongly recommend Live because being able to play videogames over the internet and keep up with friends and family that live far away is too much fun to pass up.'

Flat Panel Wall Mount - lcd wall mount, tv mount

I was skeptical of this mount. Why should this be so cheap compared to other mounting kits? I ordered one (due to the price), and prepared to return it if I did not think the mount could handle the weight of the 52" LCD TV (Samsung).

Once I got it, I understood the cost. Good low-cost design and built with solid heavy duty steel.

- Two horizontal bars are load-bearing, and for proper VESA spacing, they have to be parallel and relative distance must be in the right tolerances. These are made of solid steel.

- Two vertical bars (in the wall mount) are flimsey, and that's ok. it should be solid enough make a rectangle box w/ square angles. That's it.

- Two vertical mounting (to the TV) brackets are of heavy duty metal. Making this in to two parts (not one), reduction of material, but also allows free horizontal adjustment on the TV mount.

- By doing the above, the kit is small, uses less metal (and reduce shipping and material waste).

Positives

---------

1. Good solid and heavy duty construction.

2. Good value (low-cost). Paid less than $ 25 including shipping.

3. Easy install. Took 15 min to figure out the instruction (which is not totally clear), and 10~15 min to install and ready to watch.

4. built-in level worked well during marking of mouting holes on the wall --I tested w/ my own, and was consistent.

5. Once the mounted on the wall, and bracket on TV, you could adjust horizontal TV placement on the mount, just by sliding few inches left or right, post install. I expect this to be safe and true if the wall mount is directly screwed into the wall studs. I do not expect dry-wall install without the use of the studs to handle such adjustment.

6. The brackets on TV could also be used to adjust vertical TV placement by a few inches up and down. But for this one, you'll need to lift TV off the bracket and adjust and pull back :-).

7. There is a reasonable space (I would say, just right) from the wall to the TV to get cables/connectors through WITHOUT using any expensive 90 degree connectors. Plenty of space between two horizontal bars to put extra power outlet and data HDMI cable outlet to hide all the cables.

8. This supports tilt up/down, and works well. Amazon product description does not make it clear.

Negatives

---------

1. Just one. Clearer instruction so that I do not need to spend 15 min figuring things out. One could learn a lot form IKEA :-).

2. Packing/Packaging -- Not necessarily Cheetah Mount issue -- mine came w/o missing parts, although I noticed torn cardboard box edges and some parts COULD have been lost during shipping. Either double box, or have Cheetah use heavier box stock.

Helpful Hints & Comments

-------------------------

1. DO NOT forget to tighten the screws (2) on the bottom horizontal bars AFTER TV is placed on the wall mount -- especially if you are in CA w/ quake. This is what prevents TV falling off the mount accidentally. But do not over-tighten (you are NOT securing from left-to-right movement).

2. Very happy w/ my purchase. Will get one more for my other TV. Cheetah Mounts APTMM2B Flat Screen TV Wall Mount Bracket, uses Universal Tilt Mount 32-55" - Plasma, LED, LCD TV Wall Mounts Mounting Brackets

The Cheetah mount is an incredible value. The mount is amazingly sturdy and very well built. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble the parts out of the box. Then another hour to mount the TV to the brick above our fireplace. I used 4 Quicktap blue masonry anchors to attach the mount to the wall, and it is so secure I could probably hang from the TV itself.

I was also pleased to find that the mount included all of the hardware (bolts, washers, spacers) that you would need to mount almost any VESA compatible flat panel. Our TV is a 52 inch Samsung (750 series) and the bolts I needed were included.

Overall, a great buy.

All I have to say is what a deal. I've always read consumer reviews for anything I've bought, but never felt compelled to write a review until now. This product is so cheap for what you get. Any complaints about the product itself lead me to question their expectations. I've learned a lot about consumer reviews by this product. People are whiners. This mount took me less than 1/2 hr to put up and it's rock solid. I saved $150 over a comparable mount at Best Buy! I'm pumped!

I took a chance, against my better judgment. I asked myself how can a $25 mount compare to a $300 mount? I have 2 girls and I would totally shoot myself if my 52" Sony Bravia (W series) ever fell on one of them. Well, I got this mount and I was already impressed. It is made of this extremely dense, slightly bumpy, but smooth to the touch metal. I mounted the first part to the wall and had my dad, who has owned his own construction company, to test it out. He approved by hanging his 180 lb body from it.

I did have to take a trip to Lowes because the screws to the TV were too long (20 thread). I bought 16 thread and added 2 lock washers, per screw, that already came with the mount. I also spent $30 on a good stud center finder because I wasn't going to mess around.

I feel very confident with this mount and I am very happy to have saved a bunch of money. If you buy this mount, just take your time, watch a few you tube videos about hanging a TV, and use common sense.

I ordered this mount after doing all kinds of research on mounts out there for my new Toshiba 37" - the reviews were good, and the price even better. And, as you know by now, one could easily pay $300 for a tilt mount if they didn't know any better and listened to the folks at best buy.

Missing Part:

I ordered on a Friday, and it arrived the following Thursday. The box was tattered and looked like it had been through a war. It was obviously a returned item, as the contents (hardware, etc) was not organized in any way. Also, there was a major piece missing from the kit that would keep me from being able to mount the TV over the weekend. very disappointing. Now, i don't mind getting someone's returned item, as long as all the parts are there. It drives me crazy to know that Cheetah resold this mount without first checking to make sure everything was there. On Friday evening, i submitted a 'problem' through amazon to the seller - i was sure this was going to go unresolved and i would have to find another solution. On Saturday, low and behold, i received a phone call from a rep at Cheetah who said he would send out the part, 2-day air, first thing Monday morning.

Lost, i'm sure:

On Thursday, i call the Cheetah rep back and tell him that I haven't rec'd the part yet. he tells me that UPS lost it in the shipping and he just sent another one. You know what, just tell the truth - you forgot to send it Monday. Just don't lie - it looks awful. Now, i should get it Monday and another weekend is lost.

Wrong part:

Monday comes and the package arrives FedEx. Wrong part! I had made it crystal clear which part was missing and he seemed to know exactly which one it was. I called him up and he blamed his warehouse people and said that he would go to the warehouse himself and watch the staff member place the correct part in the bag and slap the mailing sticker on there. oy - this is getting ridiculous.

Got it:

The correct part came on Wednesday and i'm good to go. I installed it on Sunday and it went up without any problems and I'm happy. the mount is sturdy, adjusts horizontally very easily, and was simple to install. The built in level is wrong, so use your own.

I am happy with the end result at the price i paid. The effort it took me to get the mount and all it's pieces was insane, but i must say that the people at Cheetah mounts were nothing but nice and responsive. - Wall Mount - Flat Panel Wall Mount - Lcd Wall Mount - Tv Mount'
