Fishing

The reel casts smooth and with great distance. The mag feature keeps the dreaded backlash in check. Great reel for anyone wanting to learn to cast a conventional.

I confidently use this and other Abu Garcia reels to fish the mid atlantic surf. I am hooked for live on Abu saltwater reels! Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C3 CT MAG HS Baitcast Reel

Well done once again to Amazon for their excellent service. The reel arrived in a jiffy, well packaged and exactly what I ordered.

The reel itself was everything I expected it to be. I have other Abu products and this one is no different. Good, smooth action and no doubt durable. 'Typical Swedish quality' I said to myself. Imagine my surprise when I looked under the reel and saw 'Made in China'. Ah, well; it looks like everything in made in China these days. I would imagine the Swedes would oversee the quality control though.

Good package in all. I'm happy.'

I Would Recommend It - excercise equipment, wrist weights

I use these on my wrists while playing wii tennis and am now getting a real workout while I play! It was difficult to get used to at first; but now I can't play without them. They're very well made; sturdy and well priced.

Highly recommended! Wii Ankle Or Wrist Weights

I'm very happy with these weights, they aren't too light or too heavy. It's a great addition to the wii for exercises. I don't see why regular weights wouldn't work though, if you could get them cheaper. There really isn't anything that makes these specific to the wii that I've seen.

I knew in advance that these were labeled "Wii" but were in no way different from other weights. I still got them because they had good reviews and were reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, I must have very skinny arms, because even when they are pulled as tight as possible, they slide up and down my arms. I am going to have to get wrist warmers or something to wear under them, to prevent chafing.

If you are on the small side, these might be an annoyance for you.

Kind of a goofy concept, but I actually got these to wear while playing video games. The wrist weights strap on securely and fit comfortably while allow you to use your hands, finger, arms, and wrists. I sweat under them, but I think that's going to happen with anything like this. I position the gap down, and the weights hang comfortably over my wrists - I don't even have to tighten the strap too tight. Note this product seems to be filed under video games, so while submitting this review, the systems ask me to rank the product with stars, and then to rank how 'fun is this game,' also in stars. Weights are not fun.

These are nice ankle and wrist weights, though I will look for something a bit heavier for my ankles to really increase the workout from stepping. I have average size wrists for a woman, and they are a tiny bit loose when pulled tight but still fine to use for cardio boxing on the Wii. They definitely increase the workout from boxing! For small wrists, they may not be tight enough, even when pulled very tight. I found them too heavy to wear comfortably for Wii tennis or table tennis. - Micro Wrist Weights - Wrist Weights - Weights - Excercise Equipment'

Best Of The Best - skin care, cleansers

I was looking for something like this but I didn't want to spend $200 on the other brand when I wasn't sure it would work. For $30 I can take a bit of a chance. I have been using this brush since Christmas Eve and I am amazed at how much better my skin looks. At 56, zits and clogged pores that just dodn't want to go away are pretty much on the mend. Imbedded black heads have disappeared. I wouldn't use this more than once a day because it tends to dry out my skin. Hydrate after you use this. In short, I'm really glad I bought this cleaning system. A little instruction about how often to change the brush head would be nice, but I can live without it. Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System

I am mid 20s and have very congested but dry/sensitive skin. No matter how many face cleansers I would use, I would get out of the shower and still my face would have make up and not feel or look clean. I became more and more interested in the clarisonic mia brush (the cheapest model) but that week I saw an ad for this Olay brush. WOW. my skin has not felt so smooth before in my life. my skin is still problematic but I do not experience the awful flakiness that perpetuated my problem skin! when i use my witch hazel toner, there is NO make up or grime in my cotton cosmetic pad. If you want a deap clean, this is for you. I was surprised the brushes are not crazy expensive, but there is no detail on how often they suggest you to replace them. I'll use my own judgement on that. Love that I can leave this in the shower and not worry about it possibly getting wet or having any place where I need to plug it in. Great value if you think about the amount we ladies spend on face products. I love the sample cleanser in the box, a little goes a long way. I may think about purchasing that when it is empty.

I just started using this for a week now. I have normal to dry skin and everytime I use it (which is every other day because I don't want to over-exfoliate) my skin ends up so smooth. My husband even noticed how smooth and radiant my face looked after using the brush with the exfoliation facewash. It makes my moisturizer work even better and harder than it would normally. I exfoliate right before going to bed. My face feels so clean and soft I can't say enough good things about this product! And for those who don't know how often to change the brush-head, the box says every 3 months or so based on the wear and tear of the brush. Spend the money and buy this product, it is cheaper than the competitor but works just as well!

Was given this for xmas so I have only used it since xmas day. My skin is fresher and clean! I was looking for something like this without spending a ton of money. Well hubby managed to find this for me. It is battery operated which is a HUGE plus because I have found that rechargeable ones just start losing their charging power. Don't know how long this will last, that remains to be seen. But so far LOVE IT! My skin does too:)

I started using the Pro-X Cleansing System about two weeks ago. My complexion looks better already. My pores are smaller, my skin brighter and smoother and my makeup looks smoother. I am very pleased with this product for the price. I haven't used the higher prices systems that people talk about but this system serves my purposes.

I've been lusting for the Clarisonic for awhile now but $150 was way out of my budget for skincare. I am a college student in my really early 20's and I bought the olay cleansing tool for several reasons: 1. I wanted to begin my preventative care early on, 2. I wanted to rid my T-zone of blackheads and 3. it's really affordable.

My opinion:

I've used the machine for 3 days now and I feel like it has really made a difference in the texture and cleanliness of my skin. My skin immediately felt smoother and free of dead cell debris and my moisturizer absorbed a lot faster and better upon application. In buying Olay's machine, I was really really hoping that it would be the solution to my blackhead conundrum!! I've been plagued with blackheads for as long as I can remember and it's just been a chronic and STRESSFUL concern of mine. In the past, I tried many products that claimed to dissolve blackheads but nothing worked. After using Olay's cleansing system, I could tell that some of my blackheads have already disappeared after only 3 days of use. Furthermore, I could also see that much of the gunk that has been clogged deep in my pores of are also surfacing. I've been having a much easier time extracting my blackheads with a blackhead extractor thanks to Olay's cleansing system.

Overall I would really recommend this product to anyone. Now it's not a magic bullet. I didn't wake up the next day having amazing skin but the subtle improvements in the texture of my skin was enough for me to say that buying this product was well worth it! Many of us often overlook the simple step of washing our face, when little do we know it can make all the difference. There is no way our own hands are capable of achieving what a machine can do. For $30 bucks, Olay cleansing system is a great investment. - Cleansers - Micro-dermabras - Face Brush - Skin Care'

Transformers - dark of the moon, hasbro

Just picked this guy up yesterday, and he's for the most part as good as I could have hoped. However, as much as I love him, he's not without his flaws.

Pros

- He looks amazing, great paint and a very sleek look for both robot and vehicle mode.

- Unlike Leader Bumblebee, his Mechtech weapons (Sword/shield) are not oversized and clunky, and they go well with the figure.

- Mechtech stores perfectly in vehicle mode

- Articulation is very good, though his head movement is somewhat limited by his collar.

- Kibble works well as a cloak in robot mode. It gives him, in combination with his swords/shield, a very authoritative appearance.

- Electronics are not easily set off during transformation, and he has a pretty wide variety of sounds (total of 7 unique sound effects).

- Durable (also, after a few days of toying with him, there has been no sign of any stress marks or breaks, and nothing has popped off during transformation either)

- Robot mode stays together very well

Cons

- VERY back heavy

- Transformation can be frustrating

- His transformation is likely too hard for most younger children.

- I don't see little kids having a blast with him, he seems more built for collectors.

He's got some flaws, but is a great figure overall. I recommend him to collectors, though some older children may still enjoy him. Transformers: Dark of the Moon - MechTech Leader - Sentinel Prime

As an action figure you get a solid, well articulated, stylish character. As a fire engine you get the potential of a cool vehicle, but you never can get it to actually become that cool vehicle. Transformation is not that bad, but not that good for kids. There are many frustratingly finicky tabs and parts that fail to stay together unless the alignment is perfect. Many of the panels that create the fire engine appear to be held in position by stress and not by good connections. Trying to align one side will cause the other side to come out of alignment. Never quite got the entire fire engine to look like the photos even after 20mins of effort. Its 95% there, but some panels refuse to align all the way leaving gaps.

As a kids toy this is difficult to transform and time consuming to achieve the correct fire engine look. It feels solid and durable, but will require much fine tuning of the panels to get it just right. Kids might like cheaper versions that have a simpler design.

As a collectors toy it makes a great figure, though it is back heavy and will require the fire engine nozzle arm for support in standing. The voice sounds nothing like Leonard Nimoy. It's not impossible to transform the fire engine perfectly, but it is time consuming to align all the panels and tabs. Somewhat disappointing at this price range.

This may be the worst designed toy I have ever seen in my life. The box says 5 YEARS OLD! Two engineers gave up after the better part of an hour trying to turn this thing into a jalopy of a crooked wheeled firetruck. Steer clear of this thing. More humane letting your kid climb out of a hole on a greased pole, if your looking for that kind of frustration (a lot cheaper too!). I challenge the designers to prove me wrong. It embodies all the worst aspects of design. I'm going to try to salvage the $40 by using it as an object lesson for my kids on how to avoid abject failure. Crap!

I was overall very pleased with this toy. I collect police/fire/EMS transformers toys, and this one fits well with my collection. Also my 4 year old son thinks its awesome too!

The vehicle mode is a bit tough to keep looking "smooth" though: several poorly designed tabs along back of vehicle do not always stay snapped tight. Also the small rearview mirrors are soft and flexible rubber. It is a very complicated transformation process, but not bad with instructions nearby.

I've collected transformers for a while, and I definitely found that I liked this one quite a bit. Unlike some of the other newer toys, it transforms fairly logically, but the instructions aren't that great. Overall it's awesome, just would like better instructions.

This toy was a gift for my 12 YO. I bought it more than 30 days ago so unfortunately I can't return it but I would if I could. It broke the first time he tried to transform it. Not worth the money. My son was very disappointed.

When I first saw the review of the figure I knew I had to get him. The only complaint I have is that he is a bit back heavy, but the mold and his accessories make up for it. Transformation wise is decent not too difficult but its no walk in the park either. His voice recording isn't bad either, lights and sounds are quite loud. Overall it has a few small hiccups but a fantastic figure, don't miss him.

okay every review I make is based first and formost on the authenticity of the look of the vehicle according to the movie it is based on. Sentinel Prime is at first glance a very authentic looking fire truck, although once again Hasbro has failed to recreate the slightest details. The paint job is almost accurate accept the real movie version was black red and grey. It had a black cab and the side pannels where red on top and gray on bottom. Shame on them for making such an obvious misatake. Then the Autobot face symbol is located at the back, much larger and bolder then the more minute Autobot door badges on the side of the cab in the movie.

but those details are minor and easily modified if one so chooses. What really torques my rear axle is the roof lights. They look beautiful blue lenses when they are off but press the button on his roof and YELLOW LED's shine through them. WHAT the freak were they thinking putting yellow or amber bulbs under a blue lens!? I can only imagine that Hasbro has working for them a bunch of idiots who never saw the movie, and doesnt care about the chars. On top of all this he was infuriating to transform into a truck. Every time it seemed I had his side pannel together the other side would pop loose. I finally got it all together though and the Firetruck mode (minus bad color scheme and lights) is a very decent representation of the real Airport Fire Rig right down to the hoze and nozzle attachments on the end of the crane boom.

All that and I am sorely disapointed in the scale of the rig. I thought it would look great beside my Leader Class Optimus but it turns out he is the exact same length as the Optimus rig and lower then Optimus in height in truck mode. I would rate his desighn as a 1/43 scale on par with most of the Deluxe class autobots and the so called Ultimate Optimus Prime class semi tractor truck.

The robot mode is another story. Accept for a few minor color details he is fairly accurate a replica of the character.

To say that I hate this toy would be overstating things. If I really hated it I would sell it on ebay and not be keeping it to put up with. I think with a little work the desighn has a 98.5% chance of looking like a decent replica of the movie char.

as it stands right now, I am not too pleased. - Leader - Dark Of The Moon - Fire Truck - Hasbro'

Coffeemaker Steel - coffeemaker steel, great coffee

First of all, the reason we bought this is because, in general, percolators make great tasting coffee. They can turn even the worst quality beans into a good cup of coffee. Initially, the Presto lived up to our expectations. And after doing the following, it is once again making great cups of coffee.

Tip #1 - Grind your coffee using the appropriate setting.

After some usage, we would at times get a mouthful of grinds. We realized it was important to use the percolator setting on the coffee grinder at the supermarket. Since then, an occasional coffee grind finds its way into our cup.

Tip #2 - Clean the filter basket with a brush.

Despite cleaning the pot before each usage, the coffee was gradually getting weaker each day. We then realized that the holes in the bottom of the filter basket were clogged. We could not unclog them using a sponge so I started poking each one individually with a toothpick before deciding there was no way we would have the time or patience to do it every day. So, we tried a brush with plastic bristles and, within seconds, the basket was completely unclogged. So, we bought a small brush with a long handle and use it to clean the filter basket and the bottom of the pot. Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffeemaker

I've used every type of coffee maker around. I look for all stainless- that means NO plastic or aluminum contacting the water----this has been a great product for me--I love perked coffee. When I'm not using this I use a Cona glass vacuum maker--- I'm a purist about materials and coffee making. Presto has been the most reliable of all my electric percs. It's all stainless.

I thought my Hamilton Beach percolator was decent for the price, I even wrote a review about it in December, 2006. One week later, this 1-year old coffee maker was barely keeping the coffee hot. Then I visited my son in Alaska at Christmas and noticed that his 6-yr old Presto percolator was still delivering great, hot coffee in record time. I returned home, ordered my Presto 12-cup percolator and am highly impressed. It's lighter, easier to load, easier to pour, easier to clean, perks ultra-fast and makes a great, hot cup of coffee. Because of its lighter stainless steel pot, it cools down faster if you want to make a second batch of coffee right away. (We make two pots and pour the first batch into a thermos for back-up when company comes) Based on its performance, I'm surprised the price is so reasonable.

I am a coffee drinker, and have been for decades. I have tried most systems out there-French Press, Filters of all kinds, stovetop espresso pots, etc. Of all of those, French Press makes pretty good coffee. But this Presto percolator extracts more flavor than any of them to my taste.

Here are some clues. The kitchen fills with the smell of coffee brewing. It's nice, and I haven't smelled that wonderful, welcoming smell in a long time. The coffee comes out rich and thick. For those of you that use cream or milk, you will still have a decent coffee flavor after the addition.

The pot itself is a fairly simple device. I am sure there is a micro-processor thermostat under the black base, but still a simple device. All parts are Stainless Steel. The pot, the basket holder, the basket and the basket top. No plastic touches the coffee. Parts, should they become damaged for any reason are easily available from the Presto site. But with reasonable treatment these are sturdy, workable pieces of coffee brewing goodness.

The brew cycle is regulated by the amount of water in the pot. I have tried making four cup, six cup, eight cup, and ten cup batches. Following the directions that come with the pot or that area available on the Presto site will yield weaker or stronger brews according to your taste. One just has to experiment a bit to get a feel for it.

The brew cycle ends with a flourish of percing. Then the light on the front goes off. Here's what they don't tell you. Wait another minute or so till the last batch of water filters through the basket, then open the top take out the basket top and then the basket and brewpipe. Pop the top back on. The coffee will stay hot for as long as you leave the pot plugged in. And at a good hot temp, too.

This holding part of the cycle is a double edged sword. Coffee definitely looses its full flavor after a while, but the coffee will stay hot for as long as the pot is plugged in. I recommend making several smaller batches over the day rather than just brewing a big one. That hassle aside, I haven't yet let the pot burn with no coffee in it.

All in all, this Presto pot brews a great cup of coffee in batches from four to twelve cups. Best purchase to my quality of life I have made in some time. Highly recommended.

I'm not an every day coffee drinker, so I didn't want to invest in a programmable coffee maker. I selected the Presto coffeemaker for three reasons: (1) it can brew small batches of coffee as well as large servings; (2) it doesn't require much counter space in my kitchen; (3) it is easy to use. I brewed two cups of Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee on first use, and I was not disappointed. The coffee was rich, hot, and fast. I recommend using coffee filters to prevent grounds from settling as well as for easy clean up.

I've had this pot for about 2 yrs now and love it.

However I have recently noticed the 12 min brewing time was getting longer, up to 20 min. I thought I had to replace it as being defective.

Turns out the 2 screws on the bottom of the unit were coming loose, I just tightened them up and now it's back to a 12min brew cycle.

EDIT...Update...

Another 12 months have passed aprox and I have noticed that the brewing time is getting longer again. Aprox 16 min instead of 12.

I also noticed the 'click' of the temperature sensors (thermistors) happens more frequently and the pot not 'perking' as much.

So one of the 2 sensors is getting weak and shutting off early, cycling the heating element more often and extends the brewing time

as the water doesn't heat as fast if it keeps shutting off.

UNPLUG UNIT>>>

Remove the two screws on the bottom and lift off the black base and you will see 2 brown sensors held down on the bottom of the pot by a metal band.

One is closer to the center and mounts on the side of the center heating unit.

If your brewing time is getting longer, gently lift that sensor (or unscrew the one hold down screw) and slide a small piece of Aluminum foil (1 layer thickness) between the sensor and the pot Make the foil the same size as the bottom of the sensor (aprox)so it doesn't contact any electrical contacts.

There is some white grease that conducts heat more efficiently, which in this case you don't want so don't worry about it.

The foil still conducts the heat but makes the sensor 'less' sensitive. And this will bring your brewing time back to the 12 min point.

You will also notice that during the 12 min brew cycle the pot Perks more like it did when it was new!!!

The other Sensor (furthest from the center) mounted on the bottom of the pot still turns off the pot when the overall temp of the coffee reaches it's limit.

I tested the pot with just water and it brings the temp to 178 deg which is the same as it was before the (aluminum foil) fix. - Coffeemaker Steel - Great Coffee - Coffee Maker - Coffeemaker'

Furniture Sliders

I try to filter out the hype that sometimes ends up in reviews on this site - but the reviews on this product seemed to have a bit of truth to them so I ordered them. I am very impressed; these really do help out.

One of the biggest challenges I often have when working around the house is moving large items by myself. My wife is always willing to try and help but her will is sometimes larger than her muscles.

Now, these make it much easier for us. Last weekend, we used these to move a washer and dryer from one end of the basement to the other. No problem at all. Before using these, I would have struggled to get this done but these straps made it very easy for her to help me and we got the job done quickly and probably much more safely. It was so easy I was almost laughing.

Enough said... these lived up the hype. I'm very glad to own them. Above All Forearm Forklift Lifting and Moving Straps, Orange

Not to long ago I moved into a new home. I used the forearm forklift many times. I found it was ideal for moving big items, for example my 65" projection tv, which weighs roughly 350lbs. Without the forearm forklift it took 4 men to move, with the forearm forklift it took 2! The only downside to this product is using it to go up or downstairs with big items. It is not easy almost scary, I found it to be safer to not use the straps then pick them up after the steps.

The forearm forklifts work very well for lifting heavy things (washers, dryers, couches, etc) on flat surfaces. When you try to go up stairs, the person on the bottom has an easy job, and the person going up at the top should probably have arms like Rocky. For going up stairs with LARGE objects, I actually have a product called "Shoulder Dolly".

Forearm Forklifts are quicker for flat surfaces, but for going up stairs, you need something that goes over your shoulders.

I am quite suspicious of these 'As Seen on TV' type items. However, after finding some good reviews on this site and others and the desperate need for a miracle to get heavy furniture and boxes from a ground floor to a second floor unit (no elevators), I decided to purchase these through Amazon.

***What it does well:***

I have to say that after some test runs before the move, I was really impressed with how much easier carrying heavy items was. Please note that I have weak and noodley arms so this was truly amazing. Getting items from the apartment to the truck and generally carrying items over-ground (no stairs/large steps up or down) was much much easier and saved a lot of back strain.

***Tips on using it:***

You do have to make sure that the strap is all the way up your forearm by your elbow and that your hands are up against the item for it to work properly. You may also need to switch which arm holes you are using depending on the size of the item and your height (and the height of the second carrier). Do a couple test lifts before you commit to going the full distance to make sure you're all adjusted. These are designed to be used by two-lifters working together; don't expect to be able to use these solo.

***What it didn't do well:***

We could not figure out how to get this to work on stairs at all. This was my major fear in purchasing it and ultimately we could not get them to work for this task. This does work with less-steep stairs and ramps but not steeper stairs such as those between building floors.

***Overall:***

I am very happy with how much the straps helped us move furniture over ground when they did not fit on a dolly. This did save a lot of energy and pain over manually carrying the items. However, I was disappointed with the product's inability to assist with stairs which were the major concern with the move. Due to it's dependable but limited functionality, I've rated the Forearm Forklift Lifting Straps as 'Average' at three stars.

First, Lets look at the design and why it works. The straps have 3 arm holes on each end. This design allows people of different heights to hold up their end without the awkward height difference. I am much shorter then my husband, but the straps fixed this.

When you slip the straps underneath the object, you are using the power of your legs instead of arms to lift. We bought these in March for our move, and are using these still to move furniture around.

Even for more then $20, its still a value. We certainly do not use it everyday, however they take up so little room to store, we can easily dig them out and use it.

Great for Bulky items that are hard to hold. Heavy items are still heavy, but better. It also alleviates someone carrying the "Heavy" end, as you can position the item so that it splits the weight between two.

The straps are also pretty heavy duty and do not seem worn. For the price, what do you have to lose?

When a hand truck won't work or isn't available, these lifting straps may do the trick. The straps are well made and reasonably comfortable, since the weight is carried on the loop over the forearm. The straps are especially helpful when moving large items through doorways, and have saved me some pinched fingers.

They are especially useful to have on hand when the people doing the moving aren't of equal strength or size. The bright orange color makes them easy to find, too.

We used the Forearm Forklift this past week to move to another house. We own a lot of large furniture and the Forearm Forklift really came in handy especially for moving bulky, awkward items. This was especially true for matresses, a china hutch, couches, bookcases, etc. If the item you are moving doesn't have strong legs or give (e.g., a mattress) it really is best to crisscross the straps underneath the item to make sure you keep your grip on it.

It was nice to have the Foream Forklift in addition to a dolly as there are many items that one can't move easily with a dolly (upright or piano). We won't move again without these and will be buying them for any friends who will be moving.'
