Jeans
To give a little background on the type of jeans I prefer, I have always liked the Levis 569's because they had plenty of room in the seat/thighs and were very comfortable because they gave me room to breath. No awkward hugging of my butt or thighs, no annoying tapering on my calves and they sat loose, which is how I like it. I am a pretty big guy and I have thick legs, so finding the right type of jeans is a pain in the butt (pun intended).
Recently, Levis decided to ruin the 569 line by making them all look pre-worn, bleached, no standard colors but instead only ridiculous looking designer colors and are made with low-quality cheap thin materials. Every now and then I could get ahold of a standard blue pair of Levis 569's, but it was becoming almost impossible to find a straight-up simple 569 that isn't all fancy looking or pre-worn out. Seriously, what is wrong with people nowadays, can't they wear out jeans themselves anymore??
Needless to say, I am done with the 569's, and I think I have found one of the best alternatives. Carhartt mens loose fit jeans. These are REAL jeans people, they are thick, no pre-worn out look, no bleaching, and they have STANDARD jean colors. I got the darkstone color, which is a dark blue (looks darker in the picture than they really are). Overall I am impressed, these are straight leg jeans so no annoying tapering, they are also nice and wide, just about as wide as my 569's are. No awkward hugging of my butt, and my thighs have plenty of room.
However, there is a few downsides, which is why I gave these a 4 star instead of 5. For starters, the pockets are much smaller and tighter than my 569's. I like to keep my cell phone in the tiny 'watch' pocket in my jeans, however the watch pocket on these jeans is very small and tight, right now my phone cannot fit in the slot with it's protective cover on like it could on my 569's. The regular pockets are also more shallow, tighter and not as wide as the 569's. The wallet pocket is also not as deep, however they are tighter than my 569's, which is actually a good thing when it comes to holding your wallet securely in place. I'm sure once I start to break these in the pockets will loosen up a bit, after all I am comparing the pockets of these to my long-time broken in 569's.
The last downside is that the crotch on these sits up much further than the 569's, so if you like to wear baggy boxers (or even loose fitting boxer-briefs) your boys might get jumbled around a bit by the top of the inseam. From what I have seen so far with these, it's probably a safe prerequisite to wear tight fitting briefs or boxer-briefs until the jeans get broken in.
Overall I am happy with the jeans, I haven't worn them much because I sized the waste down for when I lose some more weight (dieting right now) but even with the tight fitting waste I can tell these are very close in comfort and feel to my 569's. So if you can deal with a slightly higher crotch and smaller/tighter pockets, these are a great alternative to the once great Levis 569 line of jeans.
Quick-list of pros/cons.
Pros:
- Straight leg (as straight leg as the 569's)
- Plenty of room in the seat and thighs like the 569's
- Comes in standard non-fancy non-designer jean styles and colors
- Very wide legs, bottom leg opening while laying flat measures at about 9-3/4" (size 36x32) where my 569's are at about 10-1/2" (40x32)
- Material feels strong and thick
- Decently priced, much cheaper than 569's
Cons:
- Pockets are tighter and smaller (not as deep or wide) compared to my 569's
- Crotch sits up higher than 569's Carhartt Men's Loose Fit Jean, Darkstone, 36x32
I love the fit and construction of my Carhartt loose fit jeans. They are made from the thickest/ heaviest denim available, yet they are extremely comfortable. I ride motorcycles and prefer a comfortable jean over a uncomfortable restrictive motorcycle pant. These jeans fit my requirement perfectly. Sure, maybe wearing ATGATT (all the gear all the time) may provide the highest degree of safety, how many people choose to wear a helmet or fire suit while driving their cars around town or cross-country trip. These jeans are very comfortable to wear while riding and provide some protection.
I like them better than any other brand, regardless of why or how I wear them.
Not only are Carhartt's good quality jeans, but they come in sizes that I can't find in stores. We needed jeans for a tall, skinny teenager who doesn't like skinny jeans, and these worked out fine. Wish they came in 30x36, but he can use a belt until he fills out!
Not much to say about these other than there comfortable and that they last forever, Carhartts makes very durable clothing have been wearing it in the oilfield for years and is some of the only clothing that can hold up to the beating that i put it through.
I just purchased these very well made jeans for my son after his latest pair of Levi's tore...again. He is very picky about his jeans so I was quite worried when ordering but since I ordered from Amazon I figured returns were so easy that it was worth the try. Well, needless to say, they aren't going to be returned. He loves them and I just ordered more! Great product.
The description is dead on. I'm very wary of buying clothing online, but I will gladly buy Carhartt's jeans again. The size is perfect with a natural fit and they are probably the most durable jeans I have bought in my entire life. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for simplicity in jeans. This is it!
These jeans hold up well. They are well made and have lasted my husband several months on the job (and he is hard on clothes and shoes). We continually purchase Carhartt jeans because of their ability to last!'

Corded Electric Lawn Mower - electric mower, lawn mower
I purchased the Lawn Hog 12amp 19" from Amazon.com in April/2005. I have a large yard area. My front and back yards combined equal, at least, approximately 8,000sq. ft.
Over the years, I have had numerous different gas mowers. My last gas mower was a Sears 6.5HP 22" Self-Propelled with a Briggs&Stratton engine.
Pulling 15-20 times to start it (sometimes it took even more pulls) gets very tiring and frustrating! Don't they all claim a "3-push 1-Pull Start"? I decided to search online at Amazon.com for reviews of electric mowers. I hate having to mess with gas, oil, tune-ups, noise, shaking that made my hands numb during mowing (which I finally mitigated by wearing gel-padded cycling gloves).
My grass is "tall fescue" - it grows very thick - I live in the high desert in the Antelope Valley, CA (elev. 2346 ft.). As you can probably guess, it gets quite hot here during mid-to-late summer (105-115+). Even when I start mowing early (9-11am) it is already near 100 degrees so, I searched for the most powerful electric mower I could find. I wanted to make sure my time spent under the sun would not exceed that of a gas powered unit of equal power. Just as other reviewers have stated it arrived in a big box on my front porch. Assembling the handle and attaching the bagger was a snap. It IS a two-prong input into the handle of the Lawn Hog - I already had that type of cord. I plugged it in, pulled up the orange handle up and WHAMO! It roared to power!
In my opinion, this mower is comparable to a 6.5HP gas mower - others may disagree but I will tell you, this thing is POWERFUL. It cuts the grass with the cleanest cut out of any mower I have ever owned and does no damage to the lawn sprouts (as long as you do not set the height adjustment to scalp your lawn). The height adjustment is fingertip easy.
TIP#1: To assure the bag fills evenly
With the bag empty - cut for about 2-3 minutes, stop the mower, take off the bag, shake the accumulated contents to the rear of the bag and put the bag back on the Lawn Hog. Now you should be able to cut until the bagger reaches capacity and it will fill evenly.
TIP#2 KEEPING THE CORD OUT OF THE CUTTING PATH
Say, for instance, you want to mow your lawn up and down in an East-to-West pattern moving north as you mow. Uncoil your cord and accumulate it 5-10 feet away from you to the South - now, you will always be mowing and moving away from the cord location and, as long as you do not jerk a lot with your turns, the cord will not get in the way.
You may also want to consider purchasing a few plastic/steel spikes and situate them at strategic points on your lawn perimeter. Place the cord appropriately behind the spikes - this will stop the cord from following you and getting in your path - it takes experimentation but eventually you will get to know the perfect points to place them allowing you to mow nearly as effortlessly as with a free reign mower.
TIP#3 KEEPING THE UNDERCARRIAGE FREE OF DEBRIS BUILDUP
It is important to keep the undercarriage of the mower free and clear of debris, ESPECIALLY THE BLADE - a dull blade will make a dull cut and will start damaging your grass sprouts. This will cause browning and leave the lawn shoots exposed to disease, rot, insects etc. At lawncare.scotts.com website (by the way, a WEALTH of everyday practical information is located there about everything regarding lawn care, flowers, shrubs etc.) I came across a tip that suggested:
COATING THE BOTTOM OF YOUR MOWER WITH A NON-STICK SPRAY - they suggested any Non-Stick Oven/Pan Food spray would do. I purchased a can of PAM spray. The next time I cut the lawn, I first cleaned the undercarriage as well as I could by scraping it with a 3-inch plastic paint scraper. I was careful not to push on the blade too much for fear of throwing it out of balance. I then turned the Lawn Hog upside down and leaned it up against my garage wall (can't do this with a gas mower, can ya?!) and sprayed the inside with a thin coating of PAM (including the blade). I set the Lawn Hog down, right side up, and waited about 5 minutes to allow the spray to adhere. (The undercarriage of the Lawn Hog, which houses the blade, is plastic so be careful if you use any metallic scraping tools - you can easily put gouge marks into the undercarriage causing even worse accumulation of dirt, grass, unbalancing the blade etc. making it harder to clean up). I then cut my entire lawn. When I was done, I propped the Lawn Hog up against my fence and was happy to find minimal grass/dirt accumulation. I got busy with my 3-inch plastic paint scraper and the scrapings came off with nominal effort. Even the residue on the blade came off easily. THIS REALLY WORKS and it is relatively inexpensive too!
NOTE: SPRAY COAT THE BOTTOM BEFORE YOUR FIRST USE! It will make subsequent cleaning a breeze (I wish I had read about this tip before my first mow).
The Lawn Hog is very light and easy to push. As the bag accumulates, it takes a tiny bit more effort to push, but for me, it is negligible.
I used the Lawn Hog from April to June when I decided that a riding mower might prove better in reducing my physical exertion. I purchased a Sears 13.5HP Riding mower. All the headaches associated with gas, oil etc. started coming back to haunt me but I figured I owed it to myself to try. The first mow was a breeze. The next week I went out to start it and it was dead. I waited two weeks for replacement parts. After repairs, during which time I used the dependable Lawn Hog, the Riding mower ran fine but then, one of the front tires went flat and would not reseat itself properly. Another repair call, another delay. I noticed that no matter how I used the 6-position height adjustments the riding mower sometimes scalped areas of my grass and sometimes left other areas too long in length. I then attempted to change the riding mowers oil - WHAT A MISTAKE! The oil outlet valve did not protrude past the side edge of the riding mower and the oil spilled all over my garage floor and the mower housing itself. I decided, "THAT'S IT"! I returned it to Sears.
I am now happily mowing my lawn with the Lawn Hog and I cannot even imagine, in my wildest dreams, ever going back to an environmentally insane, stinky, oily, noisy, shaking gas mower of any kind.
By the way, the mulching function works fantastic and I now mulch much more than I bag, just remember to keep the blade clean.
I AM VERY HAPPY AND PLEASED WITH THIS MOWER.
I hope this has helped. Black & Decker MM875 Lawn Hog 19-Inch 12 amp Electric Mulching Mower with Rear Bag - Lawn Mower - Eco-friendly - Black And Decker - Electric Mower'

Spotting Scope - travel tripod, mini tripod
This little thing can handle a lot of weight for being so small. It will hold a Canon EOS 5D with 24-105 f/4L IS lens and 430EX flash steadily -- in either vertical or horizontal orientation! (You have to mount the camera "sideways" on the base to do vertical shots.) This is a good 3 or 4 pounds of gear, and this much weight absolutely destroys my DSLR-sized Gorillapod. It is no problem for the little Slik, however. Due to weight distribution, this tripod probably will not work for much longer lenses, although if the lens is big enough to have a tripod mount, then it might work. I have been able to use it with my 70-200 f/4L IS both vertically and horizontally with a little care to set the legs at the right angles to provide support where it needs to be.
One other note: I have the "II" version of this tripod (the current version that Amazon sells is "V"), which I purchased used in 2002. It is still going strong! The "V" version looks just the same as mine, based on the Amazon photos. SLIK MINI PRO V - Tripod - table-top
The Slik Mini Pro Table-Top Tripod is all I expected and more. I can put it anywhere on any surface and the camera remains stable. Excellent for using the movie option my Canon LS590. This is the third Slik product I own and would never think of buying any other brand of tripod.
I was on the fence about getting an SLR Gorillapod or this. Based on reviews for gorillapods, I was concerned that the weight or my camera was too much for it. This mini is great for trips out that you're not certain you'll need a tripod or will have lots of nearby "stands" (ie. rocks, tables, chairs).
A quick release would be nice, but that can be added myself.
I bought this for my Rebel Xsi camera. It easily holds the camera, 100mm macro lens, and 580EX flash. If more stability is needed it has a suction cup on the center post. Of course you must have a smooth surface for it to adhere to, but I haven't had the need for it so far. I would have given five stars for construction but the pivoting points are made out of plastic instead of metal. But I'm sure the plastic will hold up for many years equally well. Highly recommended.
I use this for my Celestron C90 spotting scope at the target range. It works well for that purpose. I use a 25mm eyepiece giving me 40X and it is fine. The C90 definately is a load for this tripod and there is some vibration. I don't use it for my camera shots but it might be a bit light for a large lens on a SLR. Again I don't use it for that purpose so I will leave it at that.
I picked this up for $22.00 with a special no shipping cost and for that price it is a screaming deal.
Bought this to hold a Kowa 20-60x 77mm sighting scope. The scope is heavy and moderately expensive, so I wanted a good tripod for it. This fits the bill perfectly for bench sighting my targets. Would trust my Canon EOS 40 with 70-300mm lens with it also. Well constructed, great value for the money. Not a flimsy tripod. Don't think you will be disappointed.
This well built little tripod fits in my new Caselogic SLRC-202 Medium SLR Camera Bag (Black). It is sturdy enough to hold my Sony A55 with the SAL18250 lens, together which weigh about 2 pounds. I find I have to have one leg in line with the lens though to keep it from tipping over. No big deal, I've been doing that with a much smaller tripod which I recently gave to my son. The center suction cup is actually useful when putting the tripod on a flat smooth surface like a counter top or a car hood.
Update Nov 17, 2010
I just returned from two weeks in Frace where I took 1,200 photos or so. This little tripod came in handy a couple of times. However I wish it had a ball head. There were a few times where I had to shift the position of the camera on the mount by loosening the screw, turning the camera, and re-tightening the screw. Otherwise I was unable to obtain the correct angle between the camera and subject. My last tripod was a ball head and I didn't realize the restriction I would have without it on this model.
I bought this tripod for my DSLR camera. I was a little skeptical about the sturdiness because of the low price. Decided to try it based on the reviews of others. I'm glad I did. It holds my Sony easily even with a 300mm zoom lens. HINT: when using the zoom lens, I position the lens directly over the leg for better stability. It's easy to set up and stores easily in my camera bag.
My only complaint is that it doesn't have a quick release. But that's a minor issue for me.
Appreciated the other reviews on this mini tri-pod before I selected the Slick Mini Pro V. It is exactly what I was looking for to use with my Canon 14mp compact camera when I shoot HD video. I want to avoid camera shake caused by me just holding the camera in my hands. Also great for those roadside scenery shots from the hood or trunk of your car. Perfect for close-ups of flowers and nature. Very sturdy. I'm going to order one for my daughter----the PROFESSIONAL photographer----as a surprise gift! - Travel Tripod - Compact - Tripod - Mini Tripod'

Yoga Block Ergonomic - ann hyland, p90x
I needed 4 yoga blocks for my fitness dvd The A.R.T. Method by Terri Walsh (LOVE IT). These blocks work perfectly, they are the right height, length and width for all of the moves that I need them for. Also, they support my weight for the few moves that I need to step up onto a single block.
These blocks are soft on my hands, cushion impact, don't stick to me when I sweat (never knew how important that was) and yet firm/strong enough to hold my weight on just one block. Also, the color is so neutral that I can put the blocks in my bookcase when I'm not using them and they don't scream "Exercise equipment".
What more can I ask for? If I need more yoga blocks in the future I will definitely be coming back to get these again. Gaiam Solid Block, Chai - P90x - Ann Hyland - Yoga - Straps'

permanent markers - marker pens, permanent markers
I write math formulas on the inside over of my notebook. The 'fine point' markers are too fat for this, but these 'ultra fine point' markers are just right. I can also use them to write in my notebook without having them go though several sheets of paper. Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Permanent Markers, 12 Colored Markers(37175PP)
Sharpies always get five stars from me. There is no better pen for editing or for putting a permanent mark with. The thinner point markers are more like pens and can be used for anything you would use a pen on. They do bleed through thin paper, though.
I love Sharpies in general and like the fine point and variety of colors on these. However I just wanted to let people know you may or may not get the "Caribbean colors" shown in this picture. I bought this exact item but received "80's Glam" colors. They're still decent, but if you're looking for something very specific it's good to be aware of. - Marker Pens - Permanent Markers'

Toro Snow Blower - toro power shovel, toro electric snow blower
I found that this blower is difficult to move forward. It seems to hangup on the scraper and will not move easily even on smooth concrete. It seems that there is to much downward force from the handle. Greenworks 26022 16-Inch 9 Amp Electric Snow Thrower
Purchase the Greenworks 26022 and received in 5 days with free shipping - even with inclement weather holding it back. The snow thrower came in excellent shape and was very easy to assemble. The whole lower unit was ready out of the box only had to assemble the handles and the directional vane control. We have a lot of left over snow outside (8 inches) from our last snow fall so I went out this morning and made the paths wider. No problem at all even with wet snow and a little ice. Found the thrower easy to move around and is very well balanced. I was even able to tilt it up and make a couple of passes with the 8 inches still on the ground. This should really help my back out. This model will work out perfectly for our needs. It seems to have very good power. I will make quick work of 6 inches of fresh snow. Very well built. We are scheduled for another snow storm in 4 days so now no big deal for me.
I had ordered the Greenworks 16inch Snow Thrower and overnighted it. We're in South Dakota in the middle of a three day blizzard and I was sick and tired of snowing. It came 2 hours ago. I had it put together and outside working within 15 minutes. It actually took me longer to put my snow pants on. I have a 2 1/2 car driveway and I live on a corner lot so I have a lot of pavement to clear. We (my niece and I) got the entire area cleaned in an hour. We are talking around 15 inches of snow, and 10 inches of it was 3 days old. The snowthrower had no problem clearning anything and didn't catch on the pavement and did everything I wanted it to do! The best part was it started every single time with no problems at all. I used to have a huge gas powered snow blower that had all kinds of gears and reverse, and I have to say I prefer the Greenworks handsdown!
I love this snow shovel, it works wonderfully. I have not tried it in deep, wet snow because the reviews I read before I bought it stated it did not work well in those conditions but I did use it when we had a few inches of the wet kind and it worked great. It is a breeze with the light fluffy stuff. Have recommended it to several friends.
Ordered late Monday afternoon and received the snow blower Friday afternoon, delivery was very fast. The machine is very well built and goes together quickly. All you have to do, is assemble the handle and extensions for the handle. I'm a 6'-3" tall guy and the handle length feels very comfortable but it can be adjusted for shorter people. I plan on using this machine on my wood deck, also I will try it on my roof. I know it is not probably recomended, for blowing off snow on the roof. I'm very tired of shoveling the snow by hand. I'm going to slip on a plastic protector on the snow scrapper bar, this should protect the asphalt shingles. We do not have a fresh snow fall to try it on. Monday I shovel the roof by hand for the third time this season. I have not tried the machine yet but in Minnesota there is always more snow on it's way and I can wait.
I purchased the snow thrower feeling that it would work nicely when we have about 2-3 in. of snow. But I never realized that it would take so much effort to push it. Even though it has wheels, they are of no help. Had to return it.
I just received what I thought was ordering a snow blower but no I see it says snow thrower but on box it says snow shovel....I have not open the box or tried it yet so I pray that I will be satisfied with it & its not a shovel. I can't see paying this much for a shovel......Praying in KC

Garmin Nuvi 255w - gps case, case logic
I purchased this case for the Garmin 760. I'm not sure why the other reviewer mentioned it did not fit the 760
but my brand new Garmin 760 fits perfectly inside with extra space! There is 1 inch of extra room on the top and 1/4" on each side. and plenty of room on top to close the zippered lid. All this while slipped into the mesh screened pocket inside.
It came with a soft cloth and wrist strap with a swivel clasp to connect to the case.
This is an awesome case with a little extra room for a memory card and protective shields. Case Logic GPSP-2 Professional GPS Case for 4.3-Inch Flatscreen GPS Navigators
I'm very pleased with my choice. I wanted something that would protect our new gps and this does the job very well. The case is very hard and zippers the gps screen in. Eliminating the possibility of it sliding out of it's case. A lot of the cases I looked at didn't mention the exact gps model we purchased, which has the larger 4.3 inch screen (garmin nuvi, 255W). This case does the job, very well. I looked at purchasing a case that would hold everything, but each one I found wasn't large enough. So,I decided to get this small case, which can also be carried in one's purse. When we get to our destination, we place the screen in the case and everything else (friction stand and connection cord) in a tote bag I already had, which keeps everything together. This has worked out great and a lot cheaper too!
This product has a few negative reviews and after receiving it from Amazon I have no idea why. First of all it is a stiff case. It's slightly flexible but still rigid enough to provide good protection for the GPS unit and everything else inside. I was amazed that I was able to fit the GPS unit, the car charger cord, the suction mount and the adapter for my Nuvi 760 all in the bag and it zipped up easily! It's just big enough to fit everything required for the GPS without any extra bulk to take up space in your suit case, laptop bag, glove box, etc.
The GPS unit slips out of the inside pocket easily and there is a bit extra padding next to the pocket to keep the screen on the GPS from getting crushed.
Excellent product and I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews sway me from purchasing it!
This case is a useful accessory for any 4.3-inch, flat-screen GPS unit like my Garmin Nuvi 760. The price at $20 may be higher than some, but it is much more secure and protective than the Garmin cases, which are more like wallet/sleeves than cases. It also has an attractive, modern look to it.
Inside, there is a web netting dividing the interior, which could be used to carry notes, cash or the micro-fiber cloth that comes with it. The case is semi-rigid, and has two substantial stainless-steel zippers to secure it closed. This case will not pop upon and expell your GPS. A wrist strap is attached with a stainless-steel clasp; also an aid to preventing accidental damage by dropping the unit.
Highly recommended. Remember, it's only 4% of the cost of a $250 GPS
This case fits my Garmin nuvi 260W with room to spare at the top. The hard outer shell is well constructed, but no padding inside. A side mesh pocket holds the gps in place and a cleaning cloth is included. There are 2 elastic bands that keep the case from opening fully, but they are designed to keep the gps from sliding out the sides.
The case arrives wrapped in plastic, and the carry strap and cleaning cloth are held in place by a plastic tie which must be cut to use.
I really needed this case to keep my Garmin in. I don't tend to be the most organized person. This has many little pouches inside it to keep everything seperate so you can get to it. I have a 4.3 inch screen and the biggest pouch could hold it. Then there are smaller pouches for the cords along with little Velcro strips to keep your cords wrapped up.
I love that the individual pouches all have Velcro on the back of them so they will stick to the walls of the big case. When you open it the stuff doesn't all come tumbling out at you. Lastly, I am so happy with the fact that the case is hard. It's not hard plastic - but it's in no way a soft squishable case. It's perfect for me.
I would definitely recommend this product.
Saw this case at Target in the GPS section and thought it would fit my Nikon S52. Was not quite sure but bought it anyway. Fit perfict ..camera AND extra battery. Can't say enough for the sale price of $15. Feels like a piece of luggage: strong and sturdy. Love it for its non-intended purpose. A muti-tasker...
Case Logic has been setting standards for years in the area of protective cases, and they've done it again with this product. Sharp appearance, and ample protection. I should know. Ol' 'butter fingers' here has dropped his Case Logic case (with navigator inside) twice now, both times on hard surfaces. The outer case is rigid and protective. I am not sure just how much of a jolt it could absorb while protecting your unit from damage, but feel confident it would be more that the 30" to 40" drops I've subjected it to. There is a mesh net pocket on the inside to further secure your unit. Comes with a dual zipper opening, an optical quality cloth to clean your unit's touchscreen, and a clip-attachable lanyard for easy, secure transportation. Now...if we can just get 'butter fingers' to use the lanyard... ;-) - Nuvi Case - Gps Case - Case Logic - Gps'
