Keeping America Stupid - african american, american history
I have collected history books for many years. I have been an avid student of history since I was quite small- collecting books from the 1800's and even 1700's if I could find anything (which I once did but it got lost).
Anyway, I would normally not do this, but I saw this DVD and was so amazed that I sat with my mouth open much of the time. Never have I seen so much valuable information gathered in one place about the REAL history of the US and Black America that is not twisted to manipulate the viewer.
What we saw in this DVD literally changed our lives in a positive way. If I had the ability I would purchase tons of these to distribute to students throughout the US of all races to give hope and pride back to us all. We have been manipulated over the years to believe and feel things that are not entirely true.
This collection of information gives dignity back to both white and black people of the US. It does not hide anything bad, but it shows a lot of good as well. The DVD was exceptional- the real roots of the Democratic and Republican parties (which are well known facts, not contortions of reality) was very well done.
Did you know that there were MANY black men in Congress BEFORE the Civil War? Not just one.
I was astonished at the COMPLETE quotes from Frederick Douglass not just the truncated ones that travel around in the depressing museum displays that we have been inundated with around here.
This book is a must for every US citizen (and anyone else who wants to learn about US history). It unites instead of divides and that is precious these days when everythings seems geared to manipulate division instead of true unity between races in the US.
wallbuilders site is a wonderful resource where you can also see posters and visual aids as well as the media production of this title. Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White
A great deal of information contained in "Setting The record Straight: History In Black and White," I was previously aware of. However, there was plenty I found to be "eye opening." But the most important reason to read this book is, it contains all of the information needed to verify the information it contains.
By citing historical and public records available to anyone, and giving one these resources, this book does more than "open your eyes." It feeds your mind and teaches you to not accept many of the established sources of politically correct messages about the origins of this country, and the self-serving politically slanted "truths" that are 180-degrees from reality. Buy it, read it, and check the resources for yourself - if you dare!
Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White This is an excellent book that finally shines the light of truth on the dirty little secrets of who really started the KKK. Everything this author writes he backs up with records in the library of congress in the bibliography of the book. So take off your partisan glasses and see the truth. This is not a republican diatribe, it is the truth and it's truth that is long, long over due.
Read it as an American, not as a republican or democrat. Frankly both parties have let down the entire country, how anyone could defend either is beyond me. We need a 3rd party!
Want the truth READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely excellent book that should be required reading for all black americans that wish to really learn about their history. For hundreds of years there has been a clandestine effort by the Democrat party to either enslave or oppress the black americans. However, this history has been hidden from them and in fact black americans vote in majorities for Democrat candidates. Unfortunately the history continues as these people are kept subservient and under control by addicting them to welfare instead of helping them succeed and forwarding the pernicious lie that minorities are some how inferior as to not be able to succeed without the government's help.
In this book the reader will learn about the first black speaker of the house in 1870, the thoughts of Frederick Douglass on the constitution after he had embarked upon a study of it and the real genesis of the Klu Klux Klan. This book will make you angry. Angry at the injustices committed upon fellow human beings. Angry at the wrath of tyranny unleashed by Democrats on anyone who was black or was white and advocated for black rights. Angry that you have not been taught this part of history of the country. And angry that the story has been twisted for political gain for 200 years.
However, the book will empower you as well. It should be required reading for all black Americans.
Start your discovery with the following video and then buy and read this book:
[...]
I bought this book because it was featured on the Glenn Beck show...this book is VERY enlightening! Anyone interested in learning Early American History should read this book. We really should be teaching this in school! Minority children would be so uplifted if they were taught this version of history!
This rewiew is based on the DVD rather than the book. If you can't find the DVD here, go to wallbuilders website. This DVD is Strong, documented history. I personally know many good black people who always vote democratic just because they think that they are supposed to. They have (sadly) not taken the time to look into the History of either political party. The same can also be said of many white people as well. History is ALWAYS valuable. When one watches this DVD (or reads the book) he will see which of the two major political parties has done the most to help black folks. Also highly recommended - "Unfounded Loyalty" by Rev Wayne Perryman.
This was an amazing DVD full of primary sources as is the case in all of Barton's works. This may be his best work yet. I appreciate someone who takes the time to research and present the facts. It's difficult to argue with the records of Congress up through the 1960's, which show that Democrats voted against almost every opportunity to provide equal rights for African Americans. You have got to see this for yourself. I'm not a Republican, and I won't pledge my allegiance to that party, although I do agree with most of what it stands for today. I do wish Barton would have spent a little more time on one of my heroes, Martin Luther King, Jr., but there is so much material that is covered (about 2 hours covering the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, Reconstruction, acts of Congress, and the civil rights movement in the 50's and 60's). Hopefully Barton can make a DVD on the life of MLK, who I have found to be a devout man of God and a prophet to our country. Based on my studies of the man, I cannot believe King would be at all happy with the politics and anti-Christian stances of modern Democrats. I loaned this DVD to a couple of friends, who also deeply appreciated the video. An excellent history lesson. - Frederick Douglass - True American History - American History - African American'

I purchased these pages for coupons, and they're perfect for larger ones, especially those from the Internet. They're spacious enough to easily fit and remove coupons but not the thickest. For what I use them for, though, they're perfect, and I recommend them for anyone else storing coupons. 20 (Twenty Pages) - BCW Pro 3-Pocket Currency Storage Page - Dollar Bill & Currency Collecting Supplies
I didn't purchase these as a TOY, I purchased a set of 20 of these for the purpose of being able to place larger coupons in my coupon book I use for shopping in. They are a little bigger than I had expected, the pockets, however for some of the really large coupons they fit just great.
I use a small/mini binder clip for large quantities of coupons I've placed in here to keep from falling out, which does tend to happen when more than 2 or 3 coupons are placed in these pockets.
For the rest of my coupons I use the over-sized 6 pocket storage pages, categorized based on the store I shop at the most.
All in All they work great for my intended purpose, which is Couponing.
I hope to have helped you with your purchasing decision. Please don't forget to use the review voting buttons if my review was helpful to you.

I am very pleased with my purchase. The bill storage is not just for US currency. It fits other countries bills as well. My only wish is that the material would be stiffer, more support for the bills. Excellent product. Great for all the currency collectors around the world.
This product was recommended to me for couponing. The currency slots are good for holding 1 page internet coupons or larger coupons you find in the Sunday paper. I would not recommend using these pages for coupons that are made of cardboard as they do not stay in the slots well. Still, a nice alternative to the baseball-card size storage pages.
This was exactly what I was looking for and works like a charm. I am an avid couponer but I hate to fold some of the larger coupons to fit them in the baseball card holders so these are perfect for what I wanted them for.
These pages are heavy enough to be durable, but light enough to still be flexible. They are the perfect size to hold coupons in my "coupon binder". The price was reasonable, the product met my expectations.
Well, to start this review off... I couldn't really rate this properly because the questions do not apply.... how much fun is this toy?
Not a toy LOL.... I used these pages to organize my coupons. I used alphabet tabs, a binder, and these sheets. I use the top for outgoing coupons the middle pocket for all Manufacturer's coupons that started with that letter tab, and the bottom pocket I used for Target coupons. Works out great as long as I am conscious of not carrying my binder in a manner where everything would fall out.
Makes my couponing easier!
This I am sure is fine for what it's intended for. HOwever I wanted it for coupon storage. I do not like folding my coupons. Anyway, these pages are too big for a traditional binder so, if that is what you are looking to buy it for, I would go with a smaller page. Unsure why this was listed as a toy. The rating for the item is fine but how do you rate an item as a toy when it's not a toy? lol - Coin Collecting - Collection - Accessories'

Wheel Mouse - optical mice, mouse
This mouse is extremely cheaply made. In addition to being small and therefore uncomfortable to use, it is also very flimsy. I dropped it two feet from the ground one day, and it broke to about 5 pieces. Black 3-Button 3D USB 800 Dpi Optical Scroll Mice Mouse w/Blue & Red LEDs For Notebook Laptop Desktop
I ordered 5 and was billed separate shipping on each, making these a little more expensive than I originally thought they would be (and probably more than they are worth.) They work okay. The cursor tends to "drift" when you are not touching the mouse. Also, there is no blue light on these bad boys (one of the reasons I chose this model was because of the red and BLUE lights pictured and in the description), only a red light. Que sera sera... you get what you pay for. Not bad, but I don't think I'd purchase this particular model again. And the picture and description of the blue and red combination is misleading (or I guess you could more accurately say it is a bald-faced lie).
This mouse works great but not on just any mouse pad. Everyone who sees it, comments on it because of the attractive lights. It performs well on a surface that is not slippery. Great choice for a wired mouse.
I thought the colored light in the mouse would be cool but it's just annoying. It constantly flashes and drives me crazy. Very cheaply made plastic and not intended for heavy use or gaming. I wish I would have spent a little more to get a better quality mouse instead. It also clicks too loud. You get what you pay for.
I bought this initially because I loved the colors, and I've never seen a mouse as pretty as this one. However, I noticed upon arrival that the materials used to make this seemed very fragile, and within two weeks my guess was confirmed. It broke. So, I went to buy ANOTHER one, and the same thing happened. It fell ONCE and then suddenly stopped clicking. Sad, but true. - Wheel Mouse - Mouse - Optical Mice - Portable'

Emergency Medicine - backpacking, emergency medicine
Not a bad kit for the money - and you get two! Buy several to store in different places. Fishing gear in an emergency kit always makes me laugh. Your first priority is protection from hypothermia/exposure either by clothing, shelter or fire. Second is rescue, being found, extraction, etc. I don't think you'll do much fishing while trying to keep warm at night, and while extracting yourself or being found the next day, as is what happens in most all emergency survival situations. Fishing gear belongs in an extended stay kit or on a planned fishing trip. I know we all think about crash landing in a remote part of the world and needing to eat something after a few weeks so we better have a fish hook just in case we are near a great fishing lake and the fish are biting... not likely. I'll take a compass over a fish hook any day! Make a fish trap instead - fish swim in and they can't swim out. While the trap does its work you can prepare firewood or signal for help. Most people couldn't catch a fish with the best pole and gear anyway, never mind just a hook and some line. PLEASE Help Me Spread The Message... NO FISH HOOKS! The life you save may be your own... learn to make a fish trap. Okay, I've done my part. Good luck! Emergency Survival Kit in a Sardine Can - 2 Pack
Like stated in the product description, it contains about 25 survival items in a sardine can. The can itself is lightweight, can be tossed into any pocket of your bag without concern of damaging the contents of the can, and has a good assortment of items for nearly any situation. It may seem like pretty obvious and basic stuff, but nearly everything here has a potential use in a survival situation apart from a few "comfort items" such as the gum and tea.
The only downside is that once it's open, that's it. It can't be re-sealed. So it feels like a waste to open it for one or two items (in my case, I needed the duct tape for a quick patch job on a tent and the matches since mine got soaked in water. Basically, once the can is open, your only option is to stuff everything into the contained plastic bag, of course this makes it no longer waterproof or crush-proof. But regardless, a handy survival can to take with you out in the wilderness.
a must have for anyone that finds themselves in remote areas where help may be a long time coming. This little kit is waterproof and will save your life should you become lost in the woods while hunting, fishing, camping, hiking etc. A great idea for the car in conjunction with a good first aid kit. I highly recommend.
I originally got this as a gift for a friend. He really likes the whole concept of having an emergency survival kit in a can. For the price, it was a deal. Other places seemed to sell it for more. I paid around $25 with free shipping and handling for 2. The cans come with lots of little gadgets. It is very handy. I like the idea of having a small tool set, available to take with you at all times. For me though, since I'm more of an indoor person -at the moment- this is a novelty item. With 2012 coming soon, I think this could be a big hit as a little gag gift or nod to the Mayans. - Emergency Medicine - Camping - Backpacking - Emergency Preparedness'

Usb Cable - garmin nuvi, garmin accessories
When I first purchased my Nuvi 255W I tried connecting to my PC using a USB cable I already had that was for another GPS receiver. I was able to charge the Nuvi but I could not get my PC to recognize it and do updates to the unit. After receiving this cable I had no problems at all connecting and updating my Nuvi. Guess it goes to show that not all USB cables are the same. Garmin USB Cable
This is just a standard usb "Mini-B plug" - I bought it alongside my Garmin Nuvi 1350T GPS, but I should have just waited. I already have two such wires, one that came with a digital camera and another with a hard drive.
If you are not sure if you have one or not, do your research into the different types of USB connectors and see if you have one that looks like a "Mini-B plug" - it could save you the price of this product.
That said, this wire is high quality and works well. I have kept mine and it will be useful to me. I just know I wouldn't have coughed up the cash for it if I had known then what I know now.
After comparing this cable to others in my collection, I think it may be a generic USB A-mini-B cable, which would be available for less from a good computer discount warehouse. I gave this one only 4 stars because the mini-B end will bend if the Garmin is moved while the cable has no slack. However, this may be a fault of the mini-B design and not the cable per se. Overall, I am well satisfied with this purchase.
I think the USB cable bring the Garmin to full capabilities. It is a MUST inorder to register and / update your GPS with the latest data as well as to do some "fun"stuff like changing vehicles to a lot of choiices.. Good buy . - Gps System Accessories - Garmin Nuvi 200w - Garmin Nuvi - Garmin Accessories'

Sword Of Truth
I have to admit, after the last bomb, Soul Of The Fire, I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy another Terry Goodkind novel in harcover, but finding myself unable to wait until the softback came out, I went and bought it anyway. I'll first state that the entire work isn't a masterpiece, there were passages where I was a bit bored and read quickly to get through them, but there were also very good parts where I would slow down and read them slow to savor them. One of the things I enjoyed least about the book was the fighting aspect of it, mainly the battles, and the constant reference to how huge the enemy was. I'm not a huge fan of war, though some reference to it isn't bad, but it seems as if that's the only aspect Kahlan is allowed to participate in anymore. The main blocks of the story that she has appeared in in several of the novels were in battles, leading the people against the enemy, again and again. I sympathize with and like her character, but wish there was more for her to do, but constantly have to keep coming up with another last ditch effort to turn a major disaster into a temporary victory for the army.On the other hand, I deeply enjoyed Richard's journey into the heart of the enemy territory, as he is led to Jagang's home city by the Sister of the Dark, Nicci. Having arrived at his own revelation of prophecy, that the war was hopeless, and that he couldn't lead until the people were able to prove themselves to him, it was interesting to see how this was developed, without him even realizing that Nicci was unintentionally leading to the proof of his prophecy. Instead, we are given more of an insight into the character of Richard as he views the horrors of the Old World, from the hideous stone carvings to the despair and hopelessness of the people. Into this despair Nicci takes him, wanting to show him that the Order is the only hope for the common people, not knowing how Richard will change the people. With the pride that he takes in doing the most common things, Richard gives the people an ideal to live up to, and sets an example for others to follow without ever pandering to them or lecturing them. To discover with Nicci the special quality that Richard possesses, we are led with her to find that Life truly is worth living and that we all have to stand up for our own basic right to live as free people.I wish I hadn't discovered this series when I did, there were already four books out by the time I started the series. I wish I hadn't found it until it was done, whenever that will be, because now I have to wait impatiently for another year or more until the next book. And during that time I have to wonder what is next to happen, and what the book will contain, with questions buzzing through my head. Have all the dragons died during the time magic was gone? What has happened to the Gars and will they come back into the series? Will Richard ever come across the night wisps, not mentioned since the first book, and get any aid from them? I sit and ponder and now eagerly anticipate the next book. I hope time really does fly. Faith of the Fallen (Sword of Truth, Book 6)
My husband and I have been reading Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series for some time now, and have enjoyed them a great deal. In my opinion, however, "Faith of the Fallen," Book 6 in the "Sword of Truth" series, is by far the best book to date. Each book expounds upon one of several rules of magic -- beginning with the "Wizard's First Rule," that people are stupid -- and we have had fun trying to figure out what each rule was before one of the characters, usually Zed, got around to announcing it."Faith of the Fallen" is, like its flap copy states, a novel of ideas. In it, Richard Rahl is captured by a sorceress, Nicci, and taken to the heart of the Imperial Order, its crown city in the Old World. There, he sees and confronts the Order's effect on the lives of its citizens firsthand. The Old World in sway of the Imperial Order bears more than a superficial resemblance to the failed regime of Communism in the former USSR, although its lessons can also be applied when contemplating our own society's ongoing efforts towards greater equality and the continuing welfare debate. Goodkind is not the first writer to tackle the issue of socially engineered "equality" -- Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron" is another fine example of this genre -- but he does so in a way that is compelling and thought-provoking.It goes without saying that Richard will save the day, but this time we see a new side to the War Wizard, that of creator. Put simply, the Sword of Truth is not the only blade that Richard can wield with almost supernatural skill.Goodkind is very adept at description, and his passages about carving seem very realistic and vivid. He is also very good at characterization, and his most vividly drawn creations include several women -- Kahlan, Cara and Verna among them. The number of women in Goodkind's volumes is a refreshing change from what seems their mere token appearance in the work of some other male fantasy authors. For some reason, though, several of these women want to go to bed with, or marry, Richard, and Nicci is no exception. A fully realized character, full of conflict, who Nicci is and what she does in "Faith of the Fallen" are a direct result of her past experiences.Altogether, "Faith of the Fallen" is an excellent novel, enjoyable on many levels as rousing fantasy adventure and as the "novel of ideas" it is purported to be. I highly recommend "Faith of the Fallen" and the other volumes in the "Sword of Truth" series.
This book took quite a while to get going, but when it did I was hooked. The first several pages are filled with lengthy discussions, point-and-counterpoint. Goodkind has a fixation with talking any subject to death, and he does this again and again in this volume. You think a topic has been beaten to death by Richard, then the "Mother Confessor" has to bring up one (or ten) more points which must be debated ad nauseum.I can tell you that I found the character of Nicci fascinating, particularly in her relationships with her parents. While somewhat contrived, I really felt for this girl with the pinched and pious mother and the great-souled and generous father. I found myself caring much more about what happened to her than what happened to the "Mother Confessor" and the "Seeker of Truth." She was the hook that kept me reading page after page. Not all of the characters were as interesting. All of the books in this series are a strange amalgam of juvenile righteousness and disturbing ultraviolence, but I was able to get past that. Why we must be subjected to graphic depictions of people being slow-cooked on a spit and screaming in agony under torture in books that otherwise read at the level of Harry Potter is beyond me. I suppose it at least serves to capture your attention. The plot actually moved along fairly well in my opinion. Characters don't always behave as real people would--being either much more stupid or much more divinely wise than any people you or I know--because the plot contrivances call for an extension or truncation of their lives or fortunes. The ending was fairly satisfying, even though you could see it coming a hundred pages off. But the good get theirs and the bad get theirs in true juvenile fiction fashion. There is much preaching of Ayn Randian Objectivism. I agree with others here. It seems that Mr. Goodkind got hold of a copy of Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead and thought he had come into some sort of Dispensation of Holy Wisdom, because he spouts it all again and again.Despite its faults, I believe most people will enjoy this book. It is classic hero fantasy with Nicci being a strong and charismatic character.'

Iphone Arm Band - iphone armband, exercise
This armband holds the iphone nicely but has two serious design flaws.
1st is that it barely fit my arm. I'm not fat and have normal to large arms and it was squeezing my bicep. So if you have big arms forget it.
2nd is that this case offers no protection from sweat. It's supposed to be for working out but if you happen to sweat when you work out (most people do). the neoprene gets soaked and so does the phone. That's unacceptable to me.
If you want an armband for walking around the house and don't have large arms it's great, but otherwise stay away. Eforcity Sport Armband Case Cover for iPhone 3G (Black)
All I can say is that this product is the biggest piece of junk. It ripped within ten minutes of my first workout and is now useless. I am going to try to return it asap. Don't even bother wasting your money on this!!!!
I bought this armband based on other reviews here at Amazon and because the price was low. Unfortunately, this band did not work out for me. First of all, I've run 13 marathons and I run six days a week. I usually run with my Ipod Nano and a Garmin GPS watch, so I thought why not run with my Iphone 3G that has both an mp3 player and a built-in GPS, when used with the Runkeeper App?
Out of the box, I could tell immediately this was not a high quality product. The materials and construction are, well, cheap. Most of the band is made of neoprene and there's a see-through plastic cover that goes over the touchscreen. With that said, I had no problem inserting the phone in and out of the sleeve. Putting the armbelt on, however, is an issue since it is a bit short to wrap around the diameter of most men's biceps. It seems to fit best for me on the lower portion of my bicep next to my elbow, which seems a bit akward given the substantial weight and size of the Iphone. Everything seemed to work fine during my run until about mile five. That's when I noticed condensation building up inside the see-through plastic cover. The neoprene band was absorbing my sweat and it was getting inside the sleeve. This caused the controls to start freaking out. The songs started fast forwarding and jumping around. Fortunately, I was able to air it my Iphone and it works fine now, but I'm now searching for a better armband. This armband might work fine for use while walking or for folks that only run a few miles. Personally I'd rather spend more money on a good quality armband that won't ruin my phone. Happy running.
Though it's held okay on my forearm, it squeezes the phone so badly that it actually disabled the phone usage. Also, as the iphone is inside the case, you lose access to the buttons and the ear phone plugin on the top and LHS of the device. Not good. Also, the plastic cover on the screen is not flat...
I want buyers to beware, I bought what I thought was the above, however when my product came it looked nothing like the picture above..... I bought mine from the Amazon seller: United Integral. I am very much unhappy with this purchase!!!! Mine looks like a small mp4 player won't fit into it, much less a IPhone which it was supposed to be designed for. Also it looks as if someone cut one of the straps from it. All in all, beware if buying from United Integral. - Iphone Armband - Exercise - Iphone - Armband'

Advice To Homeowners - home repair, black and decker
There are certain skills that are "wasted" on no one. Home repair is one such skill. I believe that 5 weeks after purchasing this book - the book has already paid for itself. My parents moved back into my grandmother's 1960-era house after she passed away last year. The house was in need of a few repairs, but money was a limiting factor. I had to find a way to teach myself (and my dad) how to weatherproof the basement, replacing an ancient water heater & dishwasher, replace several outlets with new GFCI (p. 397!) outlets, and finally, how to update the upstair's faucets and fixtures. I logged onto Amazon.com and typed-in HOME REPAIR. To be honest, I chose this book because it had 500+ pages and two 5-star reviews. When this book arrived, I instantly felt the weight and quality of the binding.(think college textbook material) I quickly found DETAILED descriptions of the tasks I would soon have to perform. I called my father and said "Get ready we're going to Home Depot!" On the phone, my father expressed concern over our lack of experience. When my father got in my truck, I handed him the the Black&Decker text. I had put PostIt's on the pages with our projects. He slipped on his glasses and peered through his bi-focals and didn't say a word on the way to purchase tools & supplies. Once in the parking lot, I could hardly turn-off the engine before he was pointing to pictures saying "Ours looks just like this! I want some gloves like that!" And he was making a bee-line for the door!(the old man can move!) He was excited and so was I. Now, it has beeen 5 weeks since that first trip to Home Depot. Both my father and I have the cuts and scrapes and the ever present sore backs to prove that we have done our own home repairs. My father now keeps the Black&Decker text at his house "for safe keeping." He cleans the text with a moist cloth after each project. The projects don't seem to have an end in sight, which I believe is a direct result of my dad reading the text for "suggestions." My suggestion....don't let anyone "borrow" this text, unless of course - you love him! Black & Decker The Complete Photo Guide to Home Repair: with 350 Projects and 2000 Photos (Black & Decker Complete Photo Guide)
We recently purchased an old home with lots of "problems". I borrowed this book from my local library (along with Black & Decker's Home Improvement) and was amazed at how clear and detailed it was. I think the best part is how they use real photos of everything, and not sketches. There are well over 2000 photos. Within days, I was dealing with and solving basement issues, plumbing problems, electrical outlets, and many more things that I did not even thing of. The books helped so much that I decided to go ahead and purchase them here on Amazon. There are countless home improvement books out there and some rank better than others. From what I've seen, the Black & Decker series ranks at the top and are an invaluable resource. It literally pays for itself with all the money saving tips and instructions. I recommend this book, along with Black & Decker's Home Improvement and Outdoor to anyone looking to save money on home repairs.
I just bought this book and really love it. It's simple and easy to understand, and considering that I have never done much home repair before, this was a plus. It's the hammer and nail equivilent to that Betty Crocker cookbook we've all be hauling around for years. Always something new that you never knew you needed!
A good home repair guide is an absolute requirement for those of us who know very little about home repair but feel the urge on occasion to tackle some of those odd jobs around the house. While there are many guides on the market today the best ones have an abundance of photographs or detailed illustrations to help the reader see what they are supposed to be doing. With over 2,300 photos Black and Decker's The Complete Photo Guide to Home Repair is the epitome of this class of books. Processes and techniques are described step by step in detail with no prior knowledge assumed. Everything is so well done anyone can complete any of the projects if they can read and follow directions. I've had several home repair books, but this one just became my top choice for the one I want to have around as my primary reference. The Complete Photo Guide to Home Repair is a very highly recommended book for every homeowner or handyman.
I'm reading the other reviews here, so I thought I'd weigh in, hoping it will help the prospective buyer. This book is about as good as it gets for do-it-yourself home repair. Lots of home repairs are far easier than you think, and just take time and maybe some new tools. Even with the cost of new tools, it will often be cheaper than calling a professional. Yes--there are really complicated repairs I would leave to a professional, but this book helps with the simple things that you just need basic instruction on.
Case in point--my toilet was leaking from the base. I have never installed a toilet or taken one apart. I had no clue why it was leaking. I turned to the leaky toilet page and saw that there is something called the "closet" where the toilet connects to the floor and there is a wax seal that may have leaked. A plumber could cost $50-$100 just to come out and look at the toilet. Maybe more for his labor.
I went to Home Depot and bought a new wax seal for $3.50, and a mini-shop vac for $40 (new tool--yay!). Turned off the water valve, flushed the toilet, used the shop-vac to suck out the residual water, disconnected the water line, removed the 2 bolts connecting the tank to the bowl and removed the tank, removed the 2 bolts connecting the bowl to the floor and removed the bowl. Scrape off the old wax, put on the new wax, bolt bowl to floor, bolt tank to bowl, reconnect water. Yes--I may have figured this out on my own, but one is always hesitant to go in to a job not knowing what to expect. This book holds your hand a bit and has great photos. Now, if I had removed the toilet and found the closet flange overly corroded, I may have called a plumber. But I fixed the whole thing for $43.50, an hour of time, and I got a new shop-vac!
If you don't know a screwdriver from a hammer, then no book in the world, including this one, will help you. But if you have basic tool knowledge and a bit of courage, this book is the perfect and only companion you need. And when all else fails, you can always call a professional to fix it up. Armed with lingo from this book, you will be able to describe the problem better and perhaps avoid being ripped off as well. - Advice To Homeowners - Black And Decker - Home Repair - Home Improvement'

Womens Althetic Gloves - lifting gloves, weight lifting gloves
I have nothing to compare these gloves to since they are my first pair. They are super cute (I have the black and pink) and wash and dry with no issues.
I do have a little trouble getting them off after working out since there is no strap, but its not a big enough issue for me to really care about. Harbinger 149 Women's Pro Wash & Dry Weight Lifting Gloves (Black/Pink, Medium)
These gloves are just what I have been looking for: soft and supple but enough protection to keep my hands soft like a woman after a workout suited for a dude. And you can throw them in the washer-- perfect. Love them!
i bought these gloves for my girlfriend and the only reason i purchased these is because they were pink. comparing the other gloves i saw i think this had the best palm design. i knew that if i had bought her a glove with a thick solid palm padding then she wouldn't use them since she already has a hard time gripping the pull-up bar. another downside is that these gloves don't have a wrist strap. my girlfriend always has a hard time getting these off and i end up having to help her to pull them off. if you are looking for function over form then you should consider harbinger's flex fit gloves. these have a better palm design which makes it much more comfortable then traditional weight lifting gloves. they have a flex fit 134 for women and a flex fit 138 for men. i have the 138 and i love them. they are the most comfortable gloves i have used so far.
pros: cost, pink, good flex, OK palm design, durable
cons: difficult to get off(needs wrist straps)
overall: good gloves but you should take a look at harbinger's flex fit 134 and 138 for a better choice.
Pros:
Cute neutral gray color with lavender accent stitching
Small size fit my hands perfectly
Inexpensive enough to lose
Durable. These lasted me a year of lifting weights at least twice a week before the finger stitching came apart
Cons:
There's no padding under the ring and little fingers (only on the fore and middle fingers) and I developed minor callouses in these areas. I would buy another exact pair if only it wasn't for this.
Neutral:
These were my first pair of weight gloves and I didn't mind the lack of a Velcro strap since removing the gloves was never a problem for me. These are washable, but I didn't find the feature all that important.
I ordered these because i had a pair of Harbinger Gloves but the medium was to big for my hands. So i got the small and it now fits a little smaller. Easy to put on but after a nice sweaty workout... the gloves become difficult to take off. (guess thats the idea?)
El envío fué bastante rápido!!! y los he estado usando a lo largo de estas semanas, todos los dias para entrenar!!! De excelente calidad, muy buen precio! muy cómodos!! Los recomiendo. - Weightlifting Gloves - Weight Lifting Gloves - Gloves - Lifting Gloves'

P90x Resistance Bands - fitness, exercise bands
When I opened the box initially I wondered if I'd be able to tell the different resistance levels in these bands as they are all different colors.
After looking at them briefly and checking out the size of the tube and thickness I have to say this:
You'd have to be pretty thick-headed to not be able to tell which bands are easy and which bands are hard.
Yellow is the lightest
Then Green
Then Blue
Then Black
Red is the hardest
The fact that people take a star away because they're not labeled is sad. How many people would keep this piece of paper if it came in the box, for future reference? Anyone? Really?
It's in the description anyways, so people complaining about that is not necessary. Use your head.
The only thing that would be more helpful is how to use the door anchor it comes with. Black Mountain Products Resistance Band Set (Five Bands Included)
I purchased these resistance bands in January of 2011 (super fast shipping to VA) and I must say they are one the best things I have bought off of Amazon. I originally used them form me Slim in 6 beachbody workout and I now use them for P90X. I travel 3 to 4 days per week and I can throw these bands along with my workout DVDs in my bag and get a great workout in while in my hotel room. These bands have been helping to keep my motivated because I no longer have an excuse for skipping workouts while on the road. I love this set because the varying band sizes allow me to continue challenging myself by increasing the resistance without increasing the weight of my suitcase :-). This product is made extremely well and the hand grips are made for comfort. I definitely recommend this product to anyone that will listen and BMP has great quality products. Thanks BMP!!!
I have been using these bands for a couple of weeks, and they definitely offer a good work out. I have stretched them past what I thought were the limits and they have survived just fine. If they do break it's nice to know they have a lifetime warranty.
The one thing I would say is that if you are a bigger guy (I bench just under 300 lbs), you may want to purchase their set that is "stackable". I can fit two of these in my hands fairly easily, so I do most exercises with the red and black (the two heaviest bands) simultaneously. With the stackable ones there is a clip so you only have to hold one handle and can attach multiple bands. However, with those two bands it still provides a great workout. With the stackable you could add even more though.
Overall a great buy. Most bands in retail stores are around $10/ea. These bands are the same or higher quality. Included is a booklet with some basic exercises for beginners. Great for traveling.
I bought these to save a little bit of money for doing the p90x system. If you are thinking of doing the same DON'T DO IT. It says that they are great for doing any home workout exercise including extreme workouts but half of my bands are busted now. The elastic band is attached to the handles using a grommet. On half of my bands the grommet has pulled out of the handle. Twice when this happened the flying grommet left blood welts on my shoulder and leg.
If you planning on doing p90x I recommend spending the extra money to get the official bands. I am going to have to do it so I am out the money I wasted on these.
These bands tore out of their handles in my 3rd week owning them. The product seemed ok when it arrived, but after less than 10 normal work outs they broke, rendering them useless.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. If deciding to purchase bands, I would recommend the higher priced, seemingly better quality bands out there.
You know the phrase, No pain, no gain? I think they had this product in mind when thinking of it. So, My first and last time using these bands resulted in an awesome welt down my back. The band snapped and the cheap, metal rings which are used to hold the handle to the band snapped down my back while doing triceps curls....I was not over stretching the bands, they are complete crap....You defiantly get what you pay for...
I've been weight training for many years. I always worked out with free weights and machines. After a shoulder injury/surgery, driving all the way to the gym to use the 10lb dumbells was just not worth the gas. Throughout Physical Therapy I did extensive rehab with resistance bands and found that I could still work my upper body with a good amount of resistance. I also really like the variety that these bands will bring to my workouts now and in the future when I fully recover. It came just as advertised. The quality suprised me for the price (even though I did expect a good product based on the reviews). I like the clip connectors that let you connect multiple bands to the handles. This really gives you a wide range of resistances to use while you train. The door anchor worked great for tricep pushdowns and standing rows to hit the back. The bag is the icing on the cake - you can throw everything in the bag and it stores nicely out of the way.I would recomend this product to anyone who wants to train with bands and add variety to their training.
These are really awesome quality bands. I needed something to work out with on deployment and these really offer a variety of combinations of resistance for different exercises. I read the other reviews before purchasing and the other positive reviews were right on. Great value for the money and I'll probably use them for traveling even when I get home. - Fitness - P90x - P90x Resistance Bands - Exercise Bands'

Childrens Illustration - childrens illustration, family game
We played the game with gifted kids and adults age 9-40-plus and were surprised to find the kids were able to hold their own. But, like scrabble, the turns take forever! And, the scrabble concept doesn't really work well with the operators (=.+,-); too soon you run out of space on the sides as equations are much longer than words. You can't put two equations as close as two words and so there is much less opportunity for creativity in placing your pieces (e.g. you cannot make two equations in two directions; sometimes there are only one or two locations where it is possible to add an equation). We were getting scores of 10-30 points per turn, then one person added the following to an existing equation "0 X 34567 5/6 +." By hitting a triple equation score and got more than 270 points on one hand thereby effectively ending the game that had been relatively even. It seemed unfair even to him! Great idea flawed by long waits and poor design; unlikely to play it twice. C Equate: The Equation Thinking Game
My sister actually found this game and my daughter played it at her house with my sister's husband. She liked it so much that we decided to buy it. As most parents, I'm always looking for ways to supplement my daughter's education. This turned out to be a fun way to get my daughter to think about math differently. Because she liked scrabble, she already knew the basic ideas about tile placement. We made it a little easier by allowing her to ask for help but she had to check our equations or finish them. The game is long but could be stopped at any time and I do agree that the plastic is not as nice as wood. However, in general, she asks to play this board game (which allows for more math practice) and it's definitely fun for the whole family.
I hate math, but this game is fun.
I remember improving my spelling and vocabulary with Scrabble. I was hoping this would do the same with math for my daughter. So far, so good. It's given my daughter great self-confidence in Math. She was doing division with fractions in the game, which she hasn't learned yet in school.
Only complaint:The tiles are cardboard and thin. Easy to lose, but they come in a ziploc type bag.
For those who like Scrabble and like math, this is the game. My son wants to play it all the time. The biggest set back is, as the directions state, it is a very long game. We haven't actually finished one yet. The directions mention that a game played by inexperienced Equate players can easily take 2-4 hours. Those players with experience actually take long as they make the equations much more complicated. I think I would have started off with the junior tiles even though my 4th grader is classified as a 6th+ in math and my spouse and I have very strong math backgrounds.
I read all the reviews and thought this would be a great game for my daughters and me. We all like Scrabble and have a strong math aptitude. Well, this game disappointed us in several ways: the instruction book is way too long and complicated to follow, the tiles are not nice wood tiles like Scrabble, and most important, we abandoned the game after 15 minutes because it wasn't very fun. On a friend's recommendation, I purchased Krypto, which is similar in concept but it is a card game. It has a short 1 page instruction sheet and it was fun off the bat while still being challenging and educational, and significantly cheaper.Original Krypto: Family Arithmetic Game
We've played this with our 8-yr-old (second grade) son and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Without a doubt, the game offers plenty of opportunities for critical thinking, planning, review of basic math (addition, subtraction), practice in grade-level or difficult math (multiplication, division, strings of operations), and introduction of challenging concepts like equivalent fractions, multiplying/dividing fractions, etc. We do a lot of interacting with each other's tiles to come up with multiple scenarios in order to use those as teaching moments.
Gameplay and setup is very easy (and one can also easily modify rules for simpler play) and while one wishes for wooden and hard plastic trays rather than thin plastic, or tiles rather than cardboard numbers/symbols, well, those days seem to be a bit behind us and the tradeoff in cost may not be worth it for some. Turns can last a while, especially as the board begins to fill up and it gets more difficult to fit equations in; this is not an in-and-out-in 20-minutes family game. But we just leave it out and finish at a more convenient time if we go long. Earlier comments mention the problem with getting a zero and a multiplier and then being able to "run the table" so to speak, but that's a rare occurrence and one could always just make a rule where zeroes can't be used with the times symbol--problem solved.
All in all, we're very pleased with both the family fun and the educational aspects of the game--highly recommended.
About as educational as you can get for 2nd-4th grade. One of the few ways to brush up on math skills with my 7 yrs old outside the evening homework. Once scoring is done, will work together trying to use up all of the tiles filling the board out. With the expansion packs you increase the challenges as skills develop.
Having purchased many boardgames I would say quality is above average and exceeded my expectations.
We bought this game as an educational tool for our home school. It is very versatile in that you can choose to do easy (just addition and/or subtraction) or more difficult (adding in multiplication, division, and fractions). Thus, it is adaptable for any age group (above 6yrs old). It is great for 1st grade through adults. It is exactly like Scrabble. My husband and I even have fun playing it, even though we bought it for the kids' use. I highly recommend it for any home! - Educational Games - 3rd Grade Math - Childrens Illustration - Family Game'

Headphone Amplifier - headphone amplifier, headphone amps
I bought this to augment my collection of MP3 players, mainly out of curiosity. Everyone on the DAP/Headphone boards rave on its performance out of such a cheap and small device. It arrived 5 days later and my MP3 players have never sounded better.
Its sound signature augments my players containing less-than-stellar bass response and all out quality(i.e. All but the most recent iPods with the Cirrus Logic DAC), nicely and provides both a bass boost and widened soundstage. It just sounds "warmer"
As stated by another reviewer, its only fault is the lack of an on/off switch. But, Fiio has rectified this with the updated(and a bit more expensive) E5.
All in all, this is a great little amp and a worthy addition to your DAP collection. It's certainly not a replacement for a high end amp, but then again, it's not meant to be. Fiio E3 Headphone Amp
this review is for those who have never owned any headphone amps before.
the fiio e3 is one of the cheapest headphone amps out there and that fact may very well tempt newbies to purchase it as their first foray into the world of portable headphone amps. that was indeed the reason i bought it as my first amp. however, it's probably better to first ask yourself why'd you even consider buying an amp to begin with.
headphone amps in general offer: 1) improvements in sound quality, 2) increased power to better drive high impedance headphones (such as the sennheiser hd600), and 3) an external volume control. that's for starters. there are some headphone amps with even more bells and whistles like crossfeed, optical input, and so forth. you don't need any of those special features if you've never heard of them. as you gain more experience with amps, you'll grow wiser and figure out for yourself what you do and don't need. let's focus on the fiio e3's ability to handle the basic improvements an amp should provide.
1) sound quality -- the fiio e3 is not a neutral amp. the e3's sound is bass heavy to the detriment of the midrange and highs. for example, details in guitars and vocals will seem muddier because of the exaggerated bass. if you intend to actually listen to your music, then you will want an amp that's as neutral as possible and doesn't distort too much what the artist intended for your ears to hear. the soundstage on the e3 is small and the instrument separation and imaging is not really improved much beyond what the headphone out of your music player would provide. for example, a large orchestra will still sound compressed together with details from different instruments obscuring and blending into each other.
2) power -- the fiio runs on one aaa battery. that pretty much says it all when it comes to power. this amp will not drive a pair of headphones any better than the headphone out of your mp3 player. in fact, the e3 might make things worse by being in the signal chain!
3) volume control -- one nice feature amps in general provide is the ability to fiddle with a volume knob in your pocket so you don't have to take out your ipod to adjust the volume. neat. unfortunately, the fiio e3 does not have a volume knob, so this benefit is non-existent on the e3. the e3 makes the music louder by a fixed amount, but louder volume without control is of quite limited use. more importantly, amps without volume controls are essentially useless if you're planning on using a line-out dock to bypass your mp3 player's output section to get a cleaner signal.
the fiio e3 falls far short on these basic features one would want out of a headphone amp. you are better off saving yourself the hassle of changing batteries every few days, and doing something else instead with the $9 or so that it would cost to buy an e3. sure, it's not a lot of money, but personally i'd rather spend that money on another cd for my collection. or better yet, save that $9 and put it toward the purchase of a better amp that will actually improve the music listening experience.
I cant say enough about this little gadget. I am a music afficionado and I wasnt getting the volume level that I require to listen to my library of over 15,000 tracks on my Dell studio Hybrid PC. I have old Logitech speakers which sound great when played however when I use the headphones while plugged into the headphone input on the Logitech speaker the volume level was waay below acceptable. After DJ'ing for several years Im sure I have some hearing loss as well. This little amp works miracles! Not just by increasing volume level by 100% but a rich, fuller un-distorted sound through my sennheiser earphones. I paid roughly $10 total - product and shipping. Best $10 investment ever!
Some of the one-and-two-star reviews said this was not an amplifier and did not perform to expectations. At the other end, four-and-five start reviews say it performs perfectly. How can this be? Perhaps it's expectations and purpose.
Permit me to project, but when one says "amplifier" for me it brings to mind a component audio device that takes a tiny signal and, using a variable control, outputs in anything from nothing to ear-splitting volume. If that's your expectation, this is not for you.
We'll leave aside that 'to amplify' is to increase, to make larger or louder. This device fits that strict definition, but for most people there are more assumptions that come along for the ride (above) and so perhaps calling it a "booster" will help people decide if it's right for them. Just like you ask someone for a boost to climb over a barrier, so the E3 gives a little extra "oomph." For my purposes--I had almost but just not quite enough volume--it works perfectly. My application is playing my mp3 player through my car's auxiliary input. At full volume, it was just not quite enough with highway noise. But with the E3 inline, I get enough boost to hear perfectly (and actually have just a little volume to spare).
I'm no acoustical engineer but if 3 db is a doubling of power, it might well describe this device: a perceptible difference but not going from a whisper to a shout.
That it uses a AAA battery I also view as a plus: as long as a replacement is handy, there is no down-time during recharging, and one doesn't have to worry about recharge fatigue over repeated cycles (how's your cell phone battery life at one year compared to new-out-of-the-box?). I've used it about 10 hours over several weeks on the same battery; battery life is advertised at 20 hours. Just be sure to unplug the output/headphone side when not in use or you'll probably drain the battery in a day. (There's a small LED next to the output jack that lights when something is plugged in, so I assume there's a constant drain beyond the LED.) The AAA increases overall size compared to built-in battery models but for me that isn't an issue.
Bottom line, as long as you don't expect the Hubble telescope for $7, as long as you're a little short and need just a boost, this is probably for you. And, if not, you're only out a lunch at McHardees. There aren't too many things with that cost/benefit/risk ratio. - Amp - Headphone Amplifier - Fiio E3 - Headphone Amps'
