Ipod Accessory - gps, tomtom
1. Hardware is great. Very easy to install and take down so the mount is not visible when parked. Love the suction cup.
2. Second to other comments. CoPilot Live USA is $4.95 in the app store and works great, so forget paying for TomTom software. It even gives you the option to completely mute, merely quiet, or simply speak on top of music. CoPilot is very sophisticated and has lots of options so you aren't missing much. I've read reviews that said it was better designed for ipod/iphone interface.
3. One thing - you must have the ipod connected on startup of ipod for CoPilot Live USA to recognize device. The ipod then recognizes that the device works with TomTom software, asks if you want to download. Say no and then fire up CoPilot. Works great. TomTom Car Kit for iPod touch (compatible with 1st and 2nd Generation)
I've been going back and forth on buying a GPS for awhile now. I actually did buy one for my parents for Christmas the other year - and have subsequently borrowed it from them here and there. But I really don't find myself needing one enough to put down $100+ on one.
Likewise, I'm not a cellphone sort of person either. I have a cheap TracFone for those few times that I need to be in touch when I'm away from landlines. But frankly, it sits on the kitchen counter an awful lot. I don't have a need for the voice and data plans that regular phones offer and I'm certainly not going to spend the money for them.
But I do have an iPod Touch that I use for everything from my music to my ToDo list to my calendar and contacts and a bunch of other apps that I use. And I found a great little app for GPS called CoPilot USA. It is $4.99 in the iTunes app store, but I actually got it for free awhile back when they were having a promotion (pay attention to dealmac for free and discounted iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad apps). Only problem is that the 3rd Gen iPod Touch that I have doesn't have a GPS unit in it like the iPhone does...
I knew about the TomTom unit, but again, it is nearly the price of some of the low end standalone units. However, when Amazon offered the TomTom unit for $29.99 last week I jumped on it!
The unit is very basic, consisting of a mount with a suction cup for the iPod, a power cord that plugs into the mount and your cigarette lighter, and a disc to adhere to your dash if you don't want to suction cup the mount to your windshield. You do have to provide power to the mount, so this is not something you could use to carry your iPod along to use as a handheld GPS. Also, every time I connect the mount to my iPod a warning comes up that I don't have the app required for it and would I like to download it from iTunes? Apparently it automatically searches for the TomTom app. But this is a minor inconvenience and simple enough to just click "no" when it comes up. [edit] I have since found that there is a free TomTom app available on iTunes that disables this popup as well as provides access to other settings for the mount.
The CoPilot USA app is pretty simplistic. I've already found a couple issues with the maps. But for what I want, it works well. There is another version of the software called CoPilot Live for $35 as well as international versions. But as others have mentioned, if you're going to pay $70+ for the mount plus the software you might as well consider a low end dedicated GPS. However, for $30~$35 for the mount and CoPilot USA it is a cheap alternative for those with an iPod Touch.
The Sonix case for the ipod touch adds enough size to the fourth generation ipod touch to fit this car kit! I was very happy when it fit really nicely. The car kit is a little sluggish but gets the job done. If you have the new ipod and want to use it as a GPS, then also buy the Sonix case with it. Enjoy!
Great for getting gps capabilities on your ipod touch. Fit your touch perfectly and boosts the volume (I am waiting to get a aux cable so that i can play through my stereo). Worked perfectly with my copilot live usa app, but i would not recommend the app since it continually says not enough space and does not have tts, but in terms of the car kit it hooked up to the gps signal no problem. If you are using an app other than a tom tom one be sure to download the car kit app, since then there wont be any pop ups.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with an ipod touch, I mean i would probably pay close to this amount just for a touch car charger and speaker boost, but it also comes with the strongest gps (I think much stronger than the 3g is too)
I just got it today, and it works on ipod touch 4th gen. (new generation), but!!.. you have to put it either with you ipod protective case, or, if you don't have a protective case, put a piece of paper on top to make some pressure, because this kit is made for 1st gen up to 3rd gen, and the new 4th generation is too slim, so the metal dock contacts dont get bond with the car kit metal contacts and it gets disconnected very easy. So it is great that you don't have to take the ipod out of its protective case to fit in the car kit, as some people said in some comments, instead, it needs it to make some pressure for the ipod and car kit make contact. It does charge it, and what I really like about it, is that, I have a sony car stereo, and I always connect my ipod to the sony car stereo trough bluetooth to play audio, aand now I can use the tomtom car kit, and, at the same time, connect it to my stereo trough bluetooth to play audo, and the directions ! It works with other GPS apps, such as Navigon. This gps app is the only one that I have tried today as I read some comments about the tomtom gps app vs the Navigon app. It works pretty well. - Ipod Touch - Tomtom - Gps - Ipod Accessory'

I have used these in an old Senco gun that I get to borrow once in a while. I have never had a jam or feed problem with them. They are a plain shank, but are glue coated. The heat generated by the friction of driving them in at a rapid rate sets the glue and makes them difficult to pull without a longer prybar. You can get them out with a claw hammer, but I always like the easy way - a cat's paw to start and a 30" prybar to finish the job. That's the long way of saying these nails have some real holding power. Try a box on your next big project. B & C Eagle A314X131/22 Round Head 3-1/4-Inch by .131-Inch by 20 to 22 Degree Plastic Collated Framing Nail (500 per Box)
worked fine no jams. best for toe nailing. length will penetrate and stick out through doubled 2x lumber so if that's an issue go for 3" nails. eye proteciton is a must as plastic collating flies in every direction and is sharp. you'll find out if you kneel on a piece by accident like i did. you do save on bulk purchase though as a 4,000 nail box of similar nails is around $45.00 at home depot(less than half the price).
If you have a Porter Cable FR350, for some reason finding nails can be a slight problem. The mega home store with the orange sign has them, but not consistently. So these are a good stop-gap until you can find more. They drive well and seem to hold well.
These nails are great. I've had so much fun with my new nails and nail gun, I've used a 1/2 a box just playing around reinforcing saw horses, adding spacers and supports in the shed, building a deck :) Can't wait to finish off this box on the next project and get another one! :)
These nails are fine, but seriously overpriced. They work well in my nail gun and I have not had any jams.
However, I only purchased these because I did not need a box of 10,000 like they are sold at the big orange store. But, if you only need a few hundred nails instead of several thousand, what can you do?'

Wireless Mice - microsoft, wireless
Wow! I had a 3 year old Microsoft mouse that worked great, but the USB transceiver was a real pain mainly because
of the length of the thing. I broke one of my USB ports when I accidentally banged into the thing one day and on
a laptop one can ill afford to lose a USB connector right?
Anyway, the transceiver on this unit is tiny, it only sticks out maybe a 1/4 of an inch so there's no probability
of you damaging your machine by accident. And, it is extremely responsive, even more than the older design. The
drivers loaded automatically in Windows 7 and I'm back in bidness. Both left and right buttons work as they should,
and the scroll is perfect. Battery life is extended too with an On/Off switch. Works on any surface, the laptop frame,
the couch, your jeans! The transceiver does snap into the body of the mouse for travel, and the only minor complaint
I have is that the mouse doesn't turn itself off when the transceiver is nested.
This purchase BTW was a necessity because of the crappy touch-pad on my new Asus K52jr-4, which was so erratic as to
make the laptop virtually unusable. I see a lot of complaints on the web about this, but anyway I highly recommend
this mouse, especially at the price which is about 1/2 of an equivalent Logitech device. One word of advice, if you
fail to turn off this mouse when not in use it tends to go through batteries like Vegas hookers through a Shriners
Convention..... always always flip the switch Off when your machine is idle. And it pays to use a Lithium battery (1)
for extended life. Microsoft deserves a slap for claiming "up to 8 month" battery life in the product info above.
Update 6/02/2011: This mouse still works perfectly and is just as responsive as it was on Day 1. It doesn't "squeak",
the mouse clicks are barely audible, but you may find that the rubber casing begins to peel away from the plastic body
over time, this is easily remedied with a drop or two of Superglue. This doesn't affect comfort or performance of the
mouse. Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 - Sea Blue
This mouse replaced a retractable corded USB "travel" mouse. It was small and basic and worked quite well for years but finally died. I wanted a small cordless mouse to replace it so I surfed Amazon and found this one. The Logitech's were nice but I like that the USB receiver dongle is small. Most others are as big as a flash drive increasing the chances of it getting broken off.
So far it does seem to work well on a variety of surfaces. It works on my laptop table of course but I've also used it on the fabric chair arm and it worked just fine.
Two other nice features are the off switch and the dongle fits in the bottom of the mouse. All in one package for ease in travel. The mouse is also just the right size, not too big or small and reasonably comfortable. After a month or so I'm quite happy with it.
This is the only Microsoft mouse with BlueTrack and a click motion wheel. The mouse is very responsive and has a good feel. Battery life should be good as well.
I had stopped purchasing Microsoft mice because all the new mice had smooth scrolling wheels. The wheel design is a weakness on Microsoft mice. Logitech has a much better wheel design both smooth and click motion. The click wheel is a little stiff on this mouse. If it loosens up after some use, this will be the best value small form factor wireless mouse available.
My boyfriend has the model before this, "Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000", and since I constantly used his, we decided that I should go ahead and get a wireless mouse myself. I searched for hours for a mouse that would meet my needs; something small, not too pricey, and would work on many different surfaces. I initially was going to purchase the same mouse as his, but I also wanted to see what else was out there. My first choice was the "Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000" in their Dragon Fruit color.. mainly because the mouse matched my laptop (appearance is always a first reaction of mine), was inexpensive, and had gotten good reviews! But.. I kept searching. After hours of looking at many different mice and reading many different reviews, I found the Mobile Mouse 3500. It had no reviews, so I was VERY skeptical about purchasing it. It caught my eye because it matched my Dell Insprion perfectly color wise, was small, and it was also the newer version of my boyfriend's mouse that I enjoyed so much. Microsoft's new "BlueTrack" technology was also very appealing to me, so being an electronics junkie, I had to try it out! The price exceeded my price range by a little, but this mouse ideally had everything I wanted in a mouse. I searched around to see if I could find a better deal, but since this is a mouse that was newly released, Amazon had the lowest price.
I finally ordered the mouse, and received it 2 days later (thanks Amazon!). The mouse fits snuggly in my hands (I have small hands), and has a nice rubber grip on each side. I was SHOCKED to see how small the nano receiver was. I knew it was going to be small, but this is TINY. About a 1/3 the size of Microsoft's other receivers. I actually love this, but it may be difficult for people with larger hands. There is a button that stores the receiver on the bottom of the mouse, and with just a push, it will push the receiver out for you, then when you have to store it, just push it back in. Like I said previously, this is great, but may be difficult for people with larger hands. The bottom also has an on and off button which I find very convenient. Unlike my boyfriend's mouse, I can leave my receiver in my laptop, and then just click off/on the mouse when it's not in use. With his mouse, you have to take out the receiver and store it back under the mouse for it to turn off.
Overall I am very happy with the mouse. The BlueTrack definitely works great. The mouse runs smooth, and the receiver doesn't overheat, even after hours of use! I have Windows 7 and had to download their software on their website to program the middle button, but it was quick and easy.
Pros:
Small
1 AA Battery
Smooth
Easy to setup
On/Off Button
Works on a lot of different surfaces
Cons:
Doesn't have a back button like the older model (3000) - ok with me though
Receiver might be hard for people with larger hands (boyfriend finds it easy though) - Microsoft - Wireless - Microsoft Wireless Mouse - Recommended'

Ipod Accessories - ipod accessories, mirror
The screen protectors included in this pack really do work as advertised -- they turn your iPod Touch into a mirror. You can see very clearly in the mirror, and there are no odd visual effects when using the protector as a mirror. The screen protector fits very well, and holds onto your screen just fine. It also seems to be quite durable -- I have few noticeable rough spots on the screen.
The problem with these screens is that they cause pretty heavy discoloration of the screen if you look straight at it. You'll see plenty of hues of green, orange, and red. You'll also want to turn up the brightness on your ipod. The protector noticeably darkens your screen. My flashlight app doesn't work as well as it used to.
Overall, I like these mirrored protectors, but I'll probably get a plain old clear protector next time. Yeah, it's a cool novelty, but I'd rather save on battery life and see my screen clearly. 3-Pack Premium Reusable LCD Mirror Screen Protector with Lint Cleaning Cloth for Apple iPod Touch 2nd Gen 8GB 16GB 32GB
I ordered these things a week ago, and I got them in 3 days. Once I put them on my iPod, I noticed that they felt smoother than any other screen protector I have used. Also, the mirror looks great, but the is a little problem with glare if any light is reflected by it. Other than the relectiveness, these screen protectors are great, and the price is even better
The screen protectors came in around 4 days, really fast! Having 3 was great for when people saw mine and wanted one of their own. I gave one away and I have the other stowed away fro when i need it. The on i put on my ipod works great and wasn't hard to get on, but i am pretty good at that, either way you should not have too much of a problem.
Pros: Works great as mirror, Easy to see through when screen is on, Gives ipod touch style.
Cons: Scratches easily(not the actual screen but the screen protector), May be hard to see through in sunlight, Easily gets smudged
Overall I'd say the good outweigh the bad for me. I recommend the mirror screen protectors!
These screen protectors are really sharp!! I have had several people ask me about it. When the device is off, it looks like a mirror or stainless steel covering. But when you click the button, the display projects right through.
There are a couple of downsides to this product none of which are deal breakers for me though.
First, they are a bit tricky to apply. I messed up on my first try and had to throw that one away and use a second one. My second attempt was successful with the exception of a one small bubble. The bubble is not noticable at all because when the device is off, all you see is a mirror. And when you turn it on, the display conceals the bubble.
Second, the mirror finish atracts ALOT of smudge marks and fingerprints. I haven't scratched it yet but I'd assume that any scratches would be very visable. So I end up wiping it down frequently.
Othere than those issues, this is a real nice product. And like I said, neither of those issues were deal breakers for me. Because the price is soooooo low, I already ordered four more packs!
Oh I almost forgot, the shipping is pretty slow. I don't remember how long exactly, but it was well over a week.
Pros: ITS AWESOME! AMAZING! SUPER MIRROR. almost gotten my itouch taken away in class, i said it was a mirror and was using it for a mirror and turned off the screen, he saw it and gave it back to me. also a + for me is that the itouch looks 3d now... awesome!!!! oh and its super strong and its like a armor for my itouch screen. theres no way i can scratch it. i would give 7/5
cons: hard to see during day time, have to turn up the brightness on itouch. Kills battery cause of that fact.
i honestly would have payed 15$ for this. after trying i would pay 25$ but for 2$ for 3 i almost pee'd myself :)
These are cheap and great protectors for your ipod. They do however make the screen very dark! I have my settings on low brightness and i had to turn it up all the way to about 2/3's just so that i was able to see. That is why i gave it a low rating other than that its really cool how they reflect and double as a mirror.
The screen is very reflective, which is nice, but if you try and use your ituch in the sun you can hardly see anything. Also the material scratches easy, but hey, for the price I could replace the screen every week. Oh, one more thing. If you are wearing polarized sunglasses you won't be able to see the screen at all if your Ituch is upright, but if you turn it side ways the polaritys cancel out and you loose all reflection, which means you can see the screen fine. - Ipod - Ipod Accessories - Mirror - Ipod Touch'

Double Layer - dual layer, tdk
Always bought a competitor's blank media, but took a chance on this product and it's a WINNER. Excellent product at an economical price. Dual (or double) layer DVD recordable media is getting harder to find in the stores - at least a good brand is anyway. Picture and audio clarity are excellent and is just as good, if not, better than the more expensive Dual Layer recordables. Don't waste money on other name brands that give you less quantity for the same price or more. This product was purchased from an outside vendor thru Amazon. Shipping was clean and prompt. Would definitely buy again ! TDK - 50 x DVD+R DL - 8.5 GB 8x - spindle - storage media
I believe it is not fair to write a review destroying a product, claiming that it does not work at all. First, i've been burning cd's and dvd's containing all kind of files for years, and i've used almost every single brand of dvd's and i have to say that just a few brands which are very cheap never worked as i hoped they would. I bought 2 packs of these TDK DL dvds, each one containing 25 discs (product's description says its a single pack with 50 dvd's), and so far i've burned 14 disc without a single problem. I've burned movies, music, and made backups of my work and burned a few games too, and they all worked perfectly. I think some reviewers here should learn how to burn a dvd first, and then they should write a review. Google is out there, you can find whatever you are looking for there. But please, dont say that every single dvd didn't work. I used an ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U dvd writer, and burned the dvds at maximum speed allowed (6x) and depending on the amount of data burned, it took 16 mins to burn 7.6 GB. If you got a low performance pc, try to burn at the lowest speed possible, and dont run any other programs while burning a dvd. Plus, get a good burning software, and don't mess around with the options if you don't know what they are for. I used Nero Express and it did all the work by itself, i just had to drag and burn. And even if it sounds dumb, confirm if your dvd burner supports double layer dvds.
I give this product 5/5 since every single dvd ive burned, works perfectly. Dont blame this product for your lack of knowledge, something that may sound simple like burning a dvd could be very tricky if you dont do it carefully. I will definitely buy more once i finish with these ones.
I burn a lot of DVD+R's, and I used to be a loyal fan of TDK. But here in the last couple of years, TDK must have changed something in their DVD's, and I cannot burn any successful DVD's. The problem first started with their CD's. I could not burn a copy of my own CD's to keep in the truck so that my originals don't get damaged or scratched. Now the problem has moved over to their DL DVD+R's. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TDK EVER AGAIN! I would suggest going with the Verbatim DL DVD's. They are still very good. It's too bad amazon doesn't offer their brand of DL DVD's anymore, because I always had good luck with those as well. If you buy TDK's, you are just throwing your money away! Run away from TDK as fast as you can! TDK doesn't even deserve the one star, but amazon's rating system doesn't allow zero stars!
I have tried 5 types of dvd+r dl and so far these are the best. I have not tried the verbatims because of their price but I bet these are as good. No coaster and no loading errors. These are good disc.
I'm working through my second spindle of this media and I've not had a single failure. Perhaps those who are reporting failures should take note: I always make sure I'm not running any additional software while I burn to media. This is the only media in DL that I purchase.
I've only been using Double layer media for a short period of time and from my experience, I can tell you that you have to have a good double layer burner and really quality double layer media and TDK have been the best thus far. I've tried various combinations and I must say Asus burners (multiple different models I've tried), Light-on, Sony NEC optirc (AD-7170A), and this piece of junk Light Scribe, are not very reliable. Plextor (don't know the model number) is alright, but slow. However, the HP DVD1270i with the TDK have been a great combination. I rarely get coasters! There are some TDK DL in the bunch that are not the best but compared to the results I was getting with the Memorex brand, I'll take the few I get from the 50 spindle. Memorex DL media absolutely are junk-DO NOT BUY THEM!! You will hate yourself for trying.
So bought my first batch of these TDK DLs since for some reason the Memorex weren't available for Prime. Used to the occasional bad batch spitting out 2 or 3, but have enjoyed about 4 months with no errors from Memorex. First disc off this TDK batch, write error. Got about a third of the way down and suddenly they all give write errors. Got a growing stack of coasters, so at least the furniture will benefit.
Each one fails at 50% burn, ie. right at the switch to the second layer, where it then spits out an illegal disc error. So if you like your double layer discs coming out as single layer with only have the material loaded and unfinished, then these are your media. Otherwise, avoid like the cheap Chinese crap they appear to be. - Dvd Dl - Dvd Dual Layer - Tdk - Dual Layer'

Computer Accessories
I was looking around for a while for the least expensive and still good quality speakers on Amazon, and these seem to be them. These have great sound quality and get plenty loud. All you have to do is plug the power cord into the wall and the green audio cord into the computer and it works. And I have to say that i think they look better in real life than in the pictures. Good buy. I cant think of any bad things about them. Logitech S120 2.0 Multimedia Speakers
These speakers are small, stylish, high-performing, and most of all, cheap. Just like me! Only one oddity to report: the instructions refer to a pink plug and a green plug, but in reality there is only a green plug.
Living in a quiet college community I wanted to have access to music while not disturbing other residents. I wanted a nice quality sound for listening to music via the internet and I found it in my new Logtech Stereo Speakers. The sound quality is not unlike that from any good audio system. For such a compact size the sound is awesome. I would recommend these speakers for listeners who enjoy good music while working at their computer or just for listening to music on any computer. They feature adjustable volume, just so you know, and adjusts well to graphic equalizer preferences. It dosent matter the type of music or sound. Logtech speakers adapt well to heavy bass, R and B, Jazz, classical music, video, and/or even techno! Whatever your listening preference Logtech multimedia speakers require little space and delivers quality sound.
At $9.995 a pair, they are good buy, but they do have some very serious limitations. They are too bright, sounding a little tinny. The bass below 120 hz is almost nonexistent. The midrange appears fairly accurate and smooth. They are better than other speakers I have heard in this price category, but not comparable to many $20+ speakers. I own a Logitech predecessor, Soundman sLH2s, that I paid $20 for about 5 years and I was hoping I would get comparable sound, but no.
I wanted cheap speakers for my desk at work, I was never going to set the sound very high. For the money I paid, I expected some cheap plastic things that would fall over if I looked at them wrong and a volume knob that would fall off if it got the feeling I was thinking about turning it. Boy was I surprised when I opened these today.
Heavy enough to feel planted, solidly built, plenty of cord length (both power and pc connection), 3 rubber feet per speaker, and in my opinion, they look better than they do in photos. Sound quality is decent as well (it should be noted that, as I mentioned earlier, I'm at work and have not turned them up loud).
I think these are WELL worth the money.
These are OK speakers for casual music listeners, and are a great buy for non-music audio stuff, like the latest web ads from Obama or McCain.
These speakers are very small, and have an ordinary 2 prong electric plug, no external transformer. Nice.
As to music, for $11, pretty good, but I'd recommend you spend more like $20 if music is your main deal. I've been listening to some CDs that I'm very familiar with and the bass response with these little guys cuts off at the lower mid-range. Not terrible, but I think for a few bucks more, music reproduction would be better.
My musical test is The Flamin' Groovies, an ordinary rock band, in terms of frequency response. The speakers are light in the bass, and overly responsive on the high end.
BOTTOM LINE: Good value for the money, but for music, a few additional bucks will probably be worth the expense.
In hindsight it seems extremely unfair to expect a $10 pair of desktop PC speakers to have reasonably good sound, but based my excellent experience with the Creative T-20 desktop multimedia speakers, and the very high numbers of positive comments on the S-120s, that's exactly what I expected. The Logitech S-120s are essentially a self amplified low quality 2" tweeter in a lightweight plastic enclosure. The claimed 2.3 watts is highly suspect, and the stated 50hz to 20khz is simply a severe exaggeration.
For $10 the Logitech S-120s are a good buy on a fairly mediocre speaker. In fairness, they're a decent value and are clearly better than most of the PC/multimedia speakers that are often included in a PC package, but most of those are simply awful speakers that won't come close to satisfying a remotely serious listener. The S-120s are a step up to mediocre. This review may seem a little harsh considering the low price tag on the Logitechs, but had I read more realistic objective comments about the sound of these speakers, I would have passed on them, so I hope that someone gets a truer view of what they can and cannot do from these critical comments. There are undoubtedly legions of happy campers who own this little system, but you'll have to count me as a dissenter. On the positive side, they're small, easy to place, well constructed, and have an easy to reach on/off volume knob. If you have realistic performance expectations based on what these speakers really are, they'll be fine for many non-critical applications but there's no chance of these replacing a decent set of real audio speakers hooked to a real amplifier or receiver. Alas, the laws of physics remain unwavering! The S-120s reproduce sound with some minor semblance of realism, combined with a fair amount of not so surprising box noise and amplifier hiss. The end result leaves them sounding pretty much like any cheap boom box type radio/music player with poor clarity, weak bottom end, and no dynamic realism. Logitech does offer a version of these speakers with a subwoofer called the S-220 2.1 for ~ $25, which would add some weight to the bottom end, but won't cure the many other ills of the sound.'

Bluetooth Headset - wireless headphones, backbeat
I'm in the phone industry (but I don't work for any bluetooth headset maker). I got a pair of these free from Altec before the product release. I like these better than competing models from Motorola, Jabra, Samsung and other brands. I have owned all of them. Reasons:
1) The non-rigid wire connecting the two allows for compact folding, and pocket stuffing. Most other brands don't offer that.
2) Sound quality is great, music sounds good.
3) Phone calls are great. With two ears to hear the call, I can hear people even when I am in a very noisy environment. The microphone isn't as good, so they may have problems hearing me if it is VERY noisy. Beware, many other brands of bluetooth stereo headsets only use one ear for phone calls - that's stupid and makes it relatively hard to hear.
4) Buttons do not get pushed by mistake. Jabra was terrible on this issue.
5) No stupid blue light show to make you look like a geek idiot. Jabra also was bad on this issue.
5.5) Overall, these are relatively discrete. You don't look like you have two big cans on your ears.
6) The charging plug type is Micro B USB, which may be new to you, but all new cell phones will standardize on this plug type in the 2010-2012 time frame.
Negatives include:
a) The earbuds fall off in your pocket, on the street, etc. I used a drop of superglue so as to prevent losing these. I recommend you do the same.
b) As others have stated, don't sweat into them. I don't use for exercising, so not a problem for me.
c) Caveat: Bluetooth inserts a small lag, which doesn't matter at all with phone calls or music, but with video can cause the audio and video to be slightly out of sync. Doesn't bother me, but be aware.
If you want these for sport, consider the Motorola S9s, which are better with sweating. If you want to see a competing product that I also like a lot, which lets you use any headphones you like, but converts them into Bluetooth, check out the Sonorix C3. Plantronics 903/R US BackBeat Headphones
Altec's BackBeat stereo headphones offers near-invisible stereo wireless headphones that can be paired with Bluetooth enabled devices, including A2DP-capable music players capable to streaming high-quality stereo output to Altec's Bluetooth-enabled headphones. This model does not include a Bluetooth transceiver to deliver A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) capabilities when connected to any player that has a standard 3.5 mm audio output jack. If such a device is needed to, for example, listen to Internet radio off a computer, then the Altec Lansing 906/R US BackBeat Headphone with Dongle is recommended.
You get the following in the box:
- Stereo headphones
- with one pair of silicone ear buds (still trying to find a source for replacements)
- Charger working through a USB Micro connection
- English/Spanish manual, pretty good, actually
My review will first discuss features that I deem important then, I will close with a brief evaluation.
Headphones:
=========
While not 'high end', they deliver a reasonably good quality sound. Some may have issues with headphones that go 'in' the ear rather than covering the ear. I know that I do but I seem to tolerate these quite well for as long as the volume is kept low.
On the positive side, the 2 headphones are connected with a stereo cable that goes on the back of the head. This makes the entire assembly nearly invisible when worn, especially if the person who wears them has hair :). The microphone seems to be integrated in the headphones body and it seems to work well because no one asked me to speak louder while on the phone, using the BackBeat.
The main concern is 'anatomy'. I have a big head and big ears and setting the earphones was not easy in the beginning even though the telescoping and swiveling adjustments do allow for some flexibility in wearing. I find that the more I get used to them, the easier it is to wear them. Again, a positive, once set, their extremely light weight makes for a very comfortable wear, so comfortable they almost 'disappear', unless they fall off.
Pairing and maintaining connections:
===========================
- I had no problem pairing the headphones with a Blackberry and a Motorola Razor. It all works as the manual advises. When pairing the the phone, the headphones' password is always '0000' and it can't be changed.
Controls:
======
It may take some getting used to but, here are the simple conventions:
- Phone controls are mostly on the left-ear headphone
- Music device controls are mostly on the right-year headphone
- Rising tones usually mean that the feature is enabled/set/increased while falling tones mean the opposite
When connected to a phone you can answer the call, hang up, reject the call while listening to music, mute, raise/lower the volume, check the battery charge.
For music features you can pause play, advance or go back one track (not tested by me yet), increase/decrease volume, enable/disable bass boost, pick up the phone or reject a call while listening. Play resumes after a call ends.
It took very little time for the controls to become second nature.
Performance and other characteristics:
=============================
A full charge completes in about 3 hours and little blue lights indicate the charge is full. Partial charging is possible in less than one hour. Claimed battery life on both devices is about 7 hours and my usage so far tends to confirm this.
A carrying pouch is missing and it's missed. I would have felt much better if one was included because the headphones are small enough to be easily lost. I understand that the design was meant to allow carrying the headphones in a shirt pocket but I would have felt much more comfortable if I could store them somewhere other than a small pocket.
__________________________________
I hesitate between 4 and 5 stars. The more I use the BackBeat the more I enjoy using it. However, the missing carrying case - not easy to explain on a device within this price range and the lack of information on where or how to obtain spare ear buds call for a small deduction. With only a few small improvements, Altec could have a big winner in this product.
The lack of a Bluetooth transceiver was not a factor when rating this product even though I WOULD recommend the higher end model which adds a lot more versatility for only a few dollars more. - Bluetooth Headset - Backbeat - A2dp - Wireless Headphones'

Pocket Knife
This knife is REALLY cheap, and I mean really bad quality. Feels like it would come out of a vending machine. Hard to extract the blades/tools, blades are cheap and not very sharp, it's really heavy for some odd reason, cork screw diameter is too small so it pulls out of corks, on and on. This is bad even for China (which is where it's made, plainly stamped on each blade). I'd return it if it weren't more of a hassle than it's worth. Neiko Stainless Steel Multi-Function Pocket Knife with Nylon Pouch
I actually received one of these a few years ago as a gift from the groom of a wedding I was in. It's cheaply made (in China, so there's your quality stamp), tools are difficult to extend, felt very flimsy when being used for any slightly-heavy work, and was extraordinarily heavy for its small size. Long story short, you get what you pay for with this knife.
Do the smart thing: pay a few dollars extra and go Swiss.
I gave these knives to the groom's best men and other male members of the family. I bought nine (the maximum number allowed to be bought). Too bad there wasn't one left for me. They come with a pouch that can be slid onto a belt. At the wedding I heard remarks about how cool they were. Thought of having them engraved, but ran out of time. Nice looking knives with a clean steel finish.
Stainless Steel multi-function knife. Has all the tools in a higher priced Swiss Army Knife but for $7.00. I use this in a survival kit.
The stainless steel is of good quality and the blades are sharp. It is made in China but is a good quality tool.
Why even consider this junk when you can buy a genuine Swiss Knife USED, for about the same $$$. Spend $10 or $20 and get a NEW one. These are just nothing like a real Swiss Knife. I Know. Been around them for 30 years.'

Gumball Machines - pre-kindergarte, gumball machines
I recently purchased this for my friend as a Christmas gift and it was well received! You can use gumballs, M&M's, Skittles, jelly beans, or any other type of small assorted candy. This is really cute and would make a unique gift for all ages. Little girls or a friend with a dorm room to decorate (or anyone with a sweet tooth) would love it. I purchased it for under twenty bucks here on amazon so it's well worth the price! I want one myself now! Gumball Machine Frame - Pink
I ordered this because my daughter wanted a gumball machine but didn't have any space on top of her dresser to put one. This looks really cute and she just loves it. It is easy to fill and she has received lots of compliments. It really brightens up her wall!
We purchased this item for a 5 year old friend's birthday. While I was a little surprised by the plastic framing--it looked less sturdy than I expected--it was super cute and very well received. We coupled this with a large container of gumballs for the most original gift at the party. Super cute and definitely something I'd consider getting again for hard-to-buy-for kids.
This frame is very cute, but crazy enough, I could not find gumballs that would fit in this frame. I bought the smallest ones I could find, and they got stuck in-between the back of the frame and the front. So, we tried M$M's because it showed one filled with M&M's in the picture on the box. Those fit great, but when you turned the dial, it crushed the M&M's into bits. The only thing that we found to work so far is Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. It works fine, but we wanted it for gumballs. It truly is a cute idea, and looks nice on the wall, I just wish it would work with gumballs.
This gum ball machine is a great gift because all children love gum balls and it's really cute and unique. Children have so many toys and no room left over for a gum ball machine but this one hangs on the wall, it's perfect. The company was fantastic as well. I would highly recommend giving them my business because they went above and beyond for me. Great customer service. Thank you! - Gumball Machines - Pre-kindergarte'

Personal Cd Player - portable cd players, waste of money
Over the years I have become something of a portable CD-player connoisseur. Indeed, I have many leather-bound portable CD-players in my portable CD-player library. jk. I have, however, bought units from Sony, Panasonic, Philips, and now Coby. The others worked fine, channeled my music through my Sony MDR-XD100 headphones at a high quality.
But recently I broke two of my players, so it was time to look for a newer, less expensive machine.
The price of the Coby player is what attracted me to it. I thought, wow, for twelve dollars and the price of shipping I could have a new, black portable player. And I was right! But I was also extraordinarily disappointed. First of all, one touch, or even the remote thought of a touch, will interrupt your disc for a second or two, at least.
Second of all - one touch, or even the remote thought of a touch will interrupt your music! That should be nuff said.
Other defects, or shortcomings, include the ancient format of the Play/Stop/Forward/Rewind buttons. They're so big and inconvenient!
Anyway, without becoming too upset I would warn you not to buy a CD player from Coby! Or anything else from a company that sells rubbish products like this! COBY CX-CD109 BLK Personal CD Player with Stereo Headphones
COBY claims that this portable CD player will let you reliably listen to CDs with the headphones that come with it--but don't be too surprised if it fails you after just a couple of months. This is truly a case of "you get what you pay for." On the other hand, this might be a first portable CD player to give to a young child so that it won't break your heart (or your wallet) if the child drops it and it dies.
This portable CD player uses two AA batteries and, on the bright side, as long as it works you'll get a good amount of play time if you pick good batteries. It weighs barely more than eleven ounces; and that's good.
At first glance the controls on the CD player itself appear slightly confusing but after a couple of minutes you can learn the functions. The controls let you do just the basic things such as adjusting the sound, starting a CD, pausing the CD and stopping it. You can skip tracks as well using the buttons on the player.
Unfortunately, there are more disappointments. The control buttons are rather small so you need to be careful of how you touch them with your fingers. Moreover, the ear phone set hurt my head and ears almost from the word go. I would suggest that you purchase a better quality headset--but then you'll have to buy a headset that's significantly more expensive than the portable CD player itself! Ouch!
Music lovers will probably not be satisfied with this cheaply manufactured portable CD player; although it might be good for a young child who might accidentally bang it around a bit. In addition, the features don't always work reliably after a couple of months; and that's a shame. The quality of the sound could be better, too.
Skip this one and get a better portable CD player. You'll thank yourself down the road!
Very good CD player if you are not anal about non-skipping or other bells and whistles. It serves my purpose(s) perfectly .... even though the 1st one I received was broken. Amazon always makes good on their promises.
I bought two players in two months. First one broke with in the first month second one broke with in the month. Light and delicate use nothing crazy. I called the company to complain they told me to ship item to them to fix but i would have to pay for shipping both directions?? Save your money buy another product.
It just did not work. From the first time I put a CD in it, it did not run, even though I had new batteries in it. I tried several CDs thinking maybe that was the problem. Still nothing. I moved it around in different positions and it worked when I had it standing up on its edge. Worked for all of two CDs. Now nothing. I know it was not very expensive, I did not need it to be the best, but I did expect it to work.
This is not good item, from day one, I found that it is not steady, and little move affects the playing sound and cd and stops to function then starts by its own. so My idea is that this not relaeable device to purchase .
This product is a real piece of junk. The open/close button jammed the first time I used it and when I tried to gently pry it open to retrieve my cd the cover broke into three jagged pieces. Even though it is the cheapest player I could find it is still a rip-off, and wasted money at half the price. - Waste Of Money - Cd Player - Coby - Portable Cd Players'

Video Games - headphones, bundle
Allow me to preface this with an apology for the length of this review. This bundle made up of four individual items, and as a result I wrote about them all. If you already know what all the individual items are and just want to know if this bundle is a good value then the simple answer is yes.
While I would like to give this Item a five star rating (for myself, it is a solid 4.5 stars) at best I can give it is a 3 for reasons stated in the descriptions of the items.
For those that want to know more about the individual items and the package itself please read on...
This bundle of item is only as useful as you make it. For myself, It is a great value but for you it may not be. It really depends on your online play style and what you do with it.
As an online gamer I enjoy talking to other players, and I am fairly active on my messaging. Not only that, but I do play online quite regularly, I buy games online, as well as additional content. For me, there is nothing in this bundle that I do not use, so the value is definitely there when compared to buying them separately (all prices are new products, not used).
1 year XBOX live subscription: $60 retail/$40-$50 online XBOX Live Chat Pad: $30 Retail/$20-25 Online XBOX Live Microphone: $20 Retail/$15 Online 400 Microsoft Points: $5 retail/$5 Online
As you can see, at best you are saving $55 off of retail, at worst about $20. And this is where the subjective part comes in. This is only a value if you actually take advantage of everything this has to offer. I can assure you that many people online don't. For those that do, if you can get it for less then $70 (I picked it up at $60) I would highly recommend it.
Now to the Actual products:
1) XBOX Live Gold Subscription 1 year: There is nothing to say here, other then you need it if you plan to play multiplayer games online. If you do not plan to play online then this package is not for you. <-- emphasize that period. If you don't plan to get online and play with other people then do not bother, just save your money.
The live service itself is great, and the Microsoft support is good. The problem with this premium service is the online games. The lack of dedicated servers results in a large host advantage, the lack of support in individual games (try calling Bungie to get help with a Halo Problem), and the childish (adult or otherwise) gamers out there who's only purpose in life is to bother other players.
XBOX live gold in my opinion is the best online gaming service out there for console gamers, but it is far from perfect.
2) Xbox Live Chat Pad: This package comes with the black chat pad (there is a white one out there also)and as I understand it, there are no real third party options for it. It is a bit of a pain to put on but it is very secure once locked in, and it melds into the controller. It does add a little bit of weight but, for myself, it is barely noticeable during extended gaming sessions. The keys click but don't have much throw to them, think of the mini-keyboards on cell phones. the number 1 and 0 are a bit wonky but work, maybe it's just the half size keys or their placement on the corners of the chat pad. Besides the shift key, you also have a Green Square and Orange Circle, for special characters used in European and Latin Countries. The Square and Circle only light up when they are toggled and it's easy to read.
This device is all about convenience and not needed in any way shape or form because you can just send voice messages, or use the soft keyboard. Having said that, voice recordings don't always come out clear and sometimes require multiple recordings, and using the soft keyboard takes a lot more time then the chat pad.
3) Xbox Live Headset Communicator: Easily the weakest part of this bundle, I have a love hate relationship with this thing. Quite honestly, it is a flimsy, cheap, microphone. The noise cancellation on it is worthless if you play with anything resembling a decent volume, and you will mute people online because of it, and many people just do not talk online. Quality wise, It's not worth 10 dollars, let alone the 20 retail people ask for it.
On the other hand... When you get a good group and are playing with friends online I can't imagine not having it. It's like the old days of playing the NES on the couch with a group of friends. The advantages of talking and co-coordinating with your group or just finding out what happened during a game or on your favorite tv show really outweigh the cons. You are able to get to know folk, even if it is only their online personality.
For those that are wondering why I don't just find an alternate headset, the truth is that I have been searching and it's been miss and miss. They don't fit into the controller right, stop working in the middle of a game, and in general are just to much of a hassle. I have used Jabra, Skull Candy, Bose, and Logitech mic/earbuds and not a one has just plugged in and worked. All required some type of adjustment to get it to work. Quite Simply, it's just easier to take care of the headset communicator then to have to fiddle with other devices.
4) 400 microsoft points: This is five dollars in microsoft money. Once on your live account they don't do away, and can be used to buy games, buy additional downloadable content, or buy little electronic gear for your avatar. With the constant specials MS has going on this can often get you a decent game (I bought Pac Man Championship Edition with it, very fun game).
As you can see there is a lot of hit and miss. Nothing here is needed, and all it does is make things more convenient for you. For those gamers like myself, it is truly worth the money, for the average gamer though, a gold subscription is all you really need, and that is anywhere from 15-30 dollars less. then this bundle.
