Baitcasting Rods - trout rod, baitcasting rods

Build well, tough, and feels wonderful in hand and while casting. Bought the medium 6'6" version. I use it with Pflueger President and Arbor reels.

Only gripe is that the reel lock doesn't have any padding inside so it's metal on metal when tightening down a nice reel. I switched out reels recently and noticed the foot of the reel was scraped up. No one will see that, but still there is no need or desire to damage nice reels cosmetically.

One caution, this is a one piece rod and is shipped with no padding but some craft paper in a long box made from 2 boxes. The first one shipped to me (via UPS) arrived in a crushed and bent box, the rod was completely broken into 4 different sections. Another rod was immediately sent out (via Fedex) and arrived safely, I returned the broken one with no return issues. So thank you Amazon for correcting the situation swiftly and with no fuss. Abu Garcia 1-Piece Vendetta Series Spinning Rod, 6-Feet 9-Inch, Medium Light

I bought the 6' 6" medium Vendetta rod and paired it with a Pflueger President XT spinning reel. Good combo. The Vendetta is responsive, good action on a variety or lures without uncontrolled flexion/bounciness. Great distance, smooth casting mechanics with strong low-friction ring guides. Nice grip, good balance.

The rod is one-piece, so it was shipped in a very large package: two boxes taped together into a Franken-box around 7' long. Mine was shipped by Fed Ex, and it arrives with a few superficial dents and creases on the box but the rod itself was in perfect condition.

this rod is amazing.....i have owned man rods over the years and am very partial to bass pro shops rods....my fishing buddy bought a few abu garcia rods and wanted me to try one. i tried the veritas and vendetta and fell in love with the feeling of the vendetta.....you cannot beat the price on amazon. and the rod is amazing. i have the 6'9" ML action spinning rod and its amazing. great rod for fishing soft plastic jerkbaits which is what i use it for. again love the rod!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a decent rod for the money, not great. The first thing that is a bit odd is the small diameter of the grip. I am used to cork handled grips on the rods that I usually buy from Bass Pro. The grip material would be perfect if it were bigger, in this case it's not. I have yet to get used to the feel and the comfort in hand is not there. I read the reviews (on another site) before buying the rod and the comments about the rod weight being heavier than usual are correct. I purchased the medium weight and it feels like a heavy in comparison to other rods. I just recently used the rod on a trip to the grass flats. The rod worked well catching bull reds and big flounder but it was just ok. The best thing is the look of the rod, if it performed as well as it looks it would be my new favorite. - Baitcasting Rods - Flounder Rod - Trout Rod - Spinning Reels'

Sonic Screwdriver - doctor who, dr who

This is a very well made suit. I bought it for my son to wear as the ring bearer in a wedding. He was so excited about how much he looked like Daddy! Pants had some elastic and the only suggestion I have is that the waist would be hard to fit if your child is slim like mine (he will have to wear a belt). But otherwise, I am very pleased with the suit and it came in its own garment bag. Also, I thought the tie would be the one pictured, but it was not, just as an FYI. Farrah Fawcett - actress, drama

This is one of the best movies (TV or otherwise) ever made. It came out in the '80s, when made for television movies rivaled feature films, in terms of quality, especially the miniseries. As the title indicates, this is the story of Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth heiress. The story follows Hutton from her childhood to her death at the age of 65. Along the way she marries several times and loses a lot of money and the love of a son, all in a quest to find real love. Farrah Fawcett is INCREDIBLE as Hutton, portraying the socialite for the majority of the movie. I personally think this and "The Burning Bed" are her two best movies ever, and they really allowed her to show her range as a really, really good and often underappreciated actress. If this had been a feature film, should would have certainly won an Oscar for it. Not to mention an international who's who of a supporting cast. For a four-hour movie, the plot moves along at a good pace and the story feels complete, with no aspect of the story seeming rushed or unfinished. It really feels like everyone involved worked really hard to make a really good movie. Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story

Thanks to A & E for AT LAST bringing this lavish mini-series in it's full version.

The story of Barbara Hutton is brought to life in this Lester Persky produced story of glamour, glitz, wealth and true heartbreak.

Millions were spent on this production, and it shows. Fantastic locations, an excellent international cast support Farrah Fawcett in the role of a lifetime.

If anyone ever wondered if Farrah could act, this project proved that she is FANTASTIC. The story covers 60 years , and Farrah brings life to the adult Barbara Hutton , in perfection.

As you move through the story, you care about and like Hutton, though she made horrid decisions which in the end destroyed her.

Those who enjoy costume design will find nirvana in this production- perfect copies of designer goods for the period.

The show stopper here may well be the jewelry, primarily provided by Harry Winston. Most was real, and some were copies but all were breathtaking.

( After the show ran, Farrah sold copies of the Winston items on HSN, which are truly collectable and worth a fortune now).

I urge you to try this 2 DVD set - it a great story, and well produced in every way. Some of the scenes are violent, which may be a concern to some. Rest assured, they exist in the plot to move the story along and are done with care.

The (sadly) few extras consist of the ad's promoting each two hour block of the story.

Odd box art is very stark, and does NOT suggest the lush production inside!

And I forgot to mention the music-- perfection again!

I will not spoil it for you, but the last shot, with a voice over is chilling.

You will love this!

UPDATE AUG 2009:

Watched this again, with friends who had not seen this. What a nice tribute to Farrah - I am quite sure she would be happy to know that people continue to enjoy her work, particularly in her more dramatic roles. This mini-series is is rich, and so well produced.

Sadly, one (well, me at least) can't overlook the irony of of the core story - Barbara Hutton made choices in her life, and particularly in relation to men, that did not turn out well.

Farrah plays Hutton so well, so knowingly, it is truly touching. A central plot element is her love for her son, and illness at the end of her life, surrounded by some who were taking advantage of her.

Farrah was a sensational actress, and this was one of her best role's. I urge you to try this one.

The words in the Title (above) are words from the song, "Ain't We Got Fun." If you listen for it, you'll hear it in the backround throughout this epic of American "Royalty."

Even her fabulous wealth didn't quell Barbara Hutton's feelings of insecurity and self-image. All she thought she was was a source of financial aid to everyone else around her. Beyond the magnificent Cartier emeralds, pearls from Tiffany & Co. and Harry Winston's diamonds, the homes she had all around the world and the lifestyle only a few could keep up with, she was never sure if she was truely happy or just mesmorized by all the sparkle.

The attention to period details has had me impressed since the first time viewed. Every detail was perfect. The wealthy people's "attitude" was particulary detailed. They had much too much time on their hands!

You don't watch this film, you live it. It envelopes you within it's silken threads and holds you tight until it wants to let you go. In my case, it never let go.

"In the meantime, in-Between time, Ain't We Got Fun..."

1987's POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL: THE BARBRA HUTTON STORY was quite an event when it aried 22 years ago. This is a stellar mini-series and am so glad it's been given a DVD release. The true story is often sad and tragic despite the fact Miss Hutton was loaded, heir to the Woolworth fortune. She lost her mother early on to suicide, her father didn't want her, and spent her life longing and looking for genuine love. This was often a difficult task for her due to her early childhood imprinting, as well as the often impossible task to ever know if people like you for you - or your bank balance. She did have a few real friends and her loyal gay cousin Jimmy, but even those through time, drugs, and for multible psychological reasons deterorated or she destroyed. Barbara even had a son who sadly was sometimes neglected by her repeating the same emotional abandoment she herself was so scared by. Despite all the drama you feel deeply for her and realize people often genuinely can't teach you what they themselves don't know. To break family cycles of belief and behavior is much easier said than done - this story being a prime example. FARRAH FAWCETT is simply astounding as the complex tortured Miss Hutton. Her performance is multi-faceted and she truely dazzles in what I believe is one of her best dramatic pieces. FARRAH exhibits the full spectrum of the emotion palette brilliantly and you find astounding facial subtlties that are so real throughout her portrayal - the pain, grief, and sometimes joy all seep from the haunted well that resides in Barbra. I find MISS FAWCETT to be an underated creative artist, and now that her soul has recently left us - maybe her work will be re-evalulated and seen for what it is. Along with FARRAH'S fine craft it's great to see her looking fabulous in all this vintage garb she adorns. They spent a fortune on this mini-series and it shows in its international locations, Harry Winston jewels, and period fashions that are to die for. The other actors are also quite good, and its great to experience a class act production from beginning to end. R.I.P FARRAH - you will be missed !!!!! - Drama - Costume Design - Miniseries - Actress'

THE OTHER WOMAN is a film that is a bit difficult to watch both because of the thematic material and because of the uneven quality of the film itself. Based on the novel LOVE AND OTHER IMPOSSIBLE PURSUITS by Ayelet Waldman (the original release of this film in 2009 used this title) and adapted for the screen by writer/director Don Roos, the story deals with SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), divorce, step-parenting, the legal vagaries that surround divorce and remarriage, and loss. One of the reasons the film didn't make it on first theater release is that it was advertised as 'A comedy/drama that details the story of a woman's difficult relationship with her stepson.' Yes, that is a small part of the story, but this film is hardly a comedy and in fact it seems to have difficulty in deciding just what the main story is!

The opening credits begin with images of an infant girl but as soon as the action begins we are introduced to Emilia (Natalie Portman) and her husband Jack (Scott Cohen) and son William (Charlie Tahan) There is an undefined tension that is soon explained through flashbacks: Emilia fell in love with Jack who was married to OB/GYN physician Carolyne (Lisa Kudrow) and the love affair quickly developed into Jack's divorcing Carolyne and marrying Emilia. The newlyweds promptly had a baby girl who lived only three days, leaving Emilia in a prolonged state of grieving and denial. Carolyne is a controlling viper and makes the couple's life miserable, refusing complete visitation privileges with William, creating a toxic relationship between Emilia and her 'stepson' William. Emilia's friends (Lauren Ambrose and Anthony Rapp) try to make Emilia's life easier but the friction between Emilia and William as well as the constant interference by Carolyne eventually lead to a collapse in Emilia's and Jack's relationship. Some 'truths' come out about the death of Jack an Emilia's daughter and the response to those statements changes everyone in the story - including Emilia's divorced mother and father. Lessons in how to forgive and how to love complete the story.

Natalie Portman proves her acting chops in this difficult, multidimensional role and her performance is enhanced by that of Charlie Tahan as the young William. The rest of the cast is not of the same caliber, failing to make us care about their characters enough to find their significance in this rocky script. Though there are many flaws in the film making it seem to drag on too long (almost two hours), the opportunity to see the gradual growth of the acting career of Natalie Portman is reason enough to watch this little New York relationship drama. Grady Harp, April 11 Other Woman [Blu-ray]

Can you love someone's son after you lost your daughter? Emilia's (Portman) relationship with her husbands son is strained after the death of thier 3 day old daughter. To make matters worse his ex wife (Kudrow) is doing her best to turn the son against her. This is a very heartbreaking movie to watch and it is a little difficult to make it through. Much more devastating then "Rabbit Hole". Portman is incredible in this and actually should have won the Oscar for this and not "Black Swan" (though she did deserve it). Although this is a very hard movie to get through it is entirely worth it and you will be glad you watched it. This is not a typical Hollywood movie and that's why it is so good. Very heart-wrenching and moving. It will make you examine your life to decide what is important. When you watch this make sure you don't have plans after, it will bring you down, though the ending is a little uplifting. I really enjoyed this movie, much more then I thought I would. I give it an A.

Would I watch again? - I might, but it would be tough.

*Also try - Rabbit Hole & Step Mom

Being well intentioned doesn't always translate to being great. As Don Roos' "The Other Woman" deals with a sensitive and painful subject, it may seem easy to overlook all the chaotic and unconvincing elements of the film. I'm a Roos fan. He won me over with the eccentric, but hysterical, "The Opposite of Sex" and the charming, but flawed, "Happy Endings." So I was eager to jump into his more serious side with this film. There are some lovely successes within the movie, but there are just as many moments that don't connect. Ultimately, I found the movie to be frustrating. I wanted to love it, I just didn't. A big portion of the film would merit 5 stars as noted below, but the picture never comes together as a cohesive whole.

Centered around Natalie Portman, the film chronicles a family tale of grief and perseverance. Portman is generally unsympathetic as she blithely enters into an affair with a married man (Scott Cohen), becomes pregnant, breaks up his marriage and weds him herself, and then loses the baby. Reeling from the aftermath of this tragedy, she still tries to hold the relationship together and forge a bond with her difficult stepson. I loved Portman's every day persona and the fact that Roos didn't attempt to make her the lovable heroine. Her character played as a complex and real person, and so the grief scenes had much more poignancy. Her budding friendship with stepson Charlie Tahan is easily the most convincing, multi-layered, and fascinating part of the movie. Both actors play off each other exceedingly well--and the interplay is refreshingly free of cliche. As the heart of the movie, this aspect really works.

But in the peripheral details, the film starts to go a bit south. Lisa Kudrow (a Roos staple) is underserved as a screechy, horrendous harridan. She is the woman scorned and Tahan's real mother, but her heightened over-the-top performance lacks subtlety and believability. The screenplay just doesn't support this woman as a real person. In fact, it borders on downright painful as if she mirrored her vocal patterns to imitate the Wicked Witch. Portman has two co-workers that seem significant, but are completely undeveloped. The chemistry between Portman and Cohen is minimal at best--they fly into an affair without even a noticeable flirtation. The movie never asks us to deal with the fact that Portman is really an ethically ambiguous character (bordering on unkind). I guess we're supposed to accept this moral defect (or simple indifference, it would appear most times) as her having the requisite "daddy issues"--another subplot that is not handled with much grace or subtlety.

But still, when the movie works--it works. And Portman and Tahan score big in their scenes together. I'm glad that this film struck an emotional chord with audiences relating to the grief of a mother losing her child. It's a difficult subject handled with some dignity here. But these moments of raw power were overshadowed, for me, by many of the issues listed above. A nice effort that works despite its limitations, this was about 3 1/2 stars for my taste--but in this case, I'll round up for good intentions. KGHarris, 5/11.'

I'm not sure it is essential to have worked in an office to enjoy this film, but I'm certain it will hit home for those who have. The movie was a complete bust at the box office, which utterly mystifies me, because it is hysterically funny and reflects the experience of millions of people across the United States (and I assume elsewhere). In an age where companies are seeking to lay off workers at any possible opportunity, this film has perhaps even more relevance now than it did when it came out in 1999.The humor of the film works on multiple levels, but for me so much of it is funny with a twist of the knife, for much of the humor hints at a much more serious fact: modern work is genuinely dreadful and alienating. Perhaps many office workers love their job, but I hate mine, and I assume that I am merely one of millions. No one in this film has a meaningful job. Even Lumbergh, though the boss, has an absurd position. Peter Gibbons is at least able to be honest about the ridiculousness of his plight during the incredibly funny sequence in which he is hypnotized. The film is a collection of many, many wonderful moments. I started laughing from the second that Peter Gibbons gets trapped in the traffic jam and is passed by an old man on a walker, and didn't stop until the very end. The film is a parade of very funny bits, from Michael Bolton and his passion for gangsta rap to Joanna's boss urging her to wear more flair (played by director Mike Judge) to Peter's neighbor who would yell at him through the walls to Peter's bizarre fantasy in which Lumbergh is making love to Joanna holding a cup of coffee in one hand and her ankle in the other to virtually any conversation involving Lumbergh and Milton. Some of the humor is a bit too broad. For instance, although I defy anyone not to find Milton's sequences funny as heck, they don't fit in quite as neatly with the satire of the rest of the film. I wouldn't, however, want to trade them in for a tighter movie. In a way, this movie has made my life easier to live. I suspected my job was absurd before seeing this film. Now I know it is. But somehow knowing the truth makes it easier to get through the day. Office Space (Two-Disc Special Edition + Digital Copy)

This movie made an almost "psychic" connection with me... the first time I saw it, I had just come home from my nightmare job -- many of the same things depicted in the movie had happened to me that very day, including the printer jam with that exact message "Error - PC Load Letter", while trying to print a report that was already late (what the heck does that message mean, anyway?!). I related so well to this movie's honest, astute, and technically correct observations of office culture in the 90's, that the brilliantly original bits of commedy were almost incidental to me (I must have annoyed the heck out of my wife with outbursts like "Oh my GOD, that's so TRUE!" every two minutes). I caught some of the more subtle humor in subsequent viewings. I'll admit, the movie lost its hold on me about 2/3 in, when the main character (who had by this time become an icon to me with his new found "no fear of consequences" attitude) took a strange criminal direction, and his angst began to return. This seemed to break the consistancy. I wan't too thrilled with Jenifer Aniston's performance either, although I suppose that had more to do with her script. In any case, the second time I watched the move, none of this bothered me as much.I've since purchased the DVD, and have worn this disk out playing it for friends. I'll never get tired of this movie... even the sound track makes me laugh. It's a wonder that it didn't get better reviews, although I guess one really would have had to have experienced office politics in the 90's to fully relate (I wonder when was the last time in the 90's that Ebert heard, "Don't forget to fill in your timesheets!")Some reviewers gave it low ratings claiming that it was "lightweight"... okay, so it's no Citizen Kane, but it certainly doesn't claim to be either! Give it credit for what it is -- as a lighthearted observational commedy, it's brilliant. And that's not to say that it was a total no-brainer either... on an intelligence level, I'd rate it much higher than say... any movie ever made by the Fairley Brothers (and certainly much lower on the "obnoxious bathroom humor"-scale).It's a pretty sad testiment to the intelligence of the average North American that movies like "Me, Myself, and Irene" brought in more money than Office Space. I hope Mike Judge doesn't let this stop him from creating another gem.

If you've ever worked in a tiny cubicle, pushed papers, and fought a worthless fax machine in an attempt to earn a living, you will love this movie. OFFICE SPACE is a hilarious movie that deconstructs everything that makes an office worker's life so miserable: from morning traffic, to catch phrases (it looks like somone has the Moondays), to bosses that totally ignore their workers. This movie had a low budget, but Mike Judge is a brilliant filmmaker. He takes a relatively unknown cast and is able to milk hilarious, yet totally lifelike performances from each actor and unites everything together in a coherent conceptually comedy masterpiece (e.g. the fax-beating scene with the ganster music playing is just pure brilliance). Of course, the film says a lot about the actors as well, they don't seem to be just characters or caricatures: they seem like real people. There is no sex, relative little violence (well, there is a lot of violence toward inanimate objects), and relatively little cursing words (most of the foul language comes from the film's soundtrack). A movie that's destined to become a modern comedy classic.

If you have ever worked in a cubicle farm for a technology company, or ROFL after reading Dilbert cartoons, and know what ROFL means, you will love this movie. Mike Judge (creator of Beavis and Butthead) digs into and makes fun of the things that people hate most about their jobs, with such accuracy that he must have consulted Scott Adams himself while developing the screenplay. With company names like "Penetrode", this movie takes numerous humorous stabs at the idiocy foisted upon the modern working class by the "management class", those highly-compensated stuffed-shirts with no more qualifications than an MBA hanging on their wall. These are the people who abuse you every time you make a mistake, and try to convince you that they are really your buddy in a thinly veiled attempt to keep you submissive and cooperative. Office Space tears into the very heart of the manipulative phony friendship ploy that so many managers think of as their "brilliant" management technique. So if you're tired of being shocked every time you touch a door knob, and sick of having half a dozen different "bosses" giving you conflicting work assignments, then I highly recommend that you buy this movie and blow off some steam, before it's too late! This film is a lot of fun to watch, but if you're looking for an intellectually challenging work of art, this is not the film for you. The story is quite simple; it is a single-layer story that conveys the same information on subsequent viewing as it conveyed during the first viewing. The visual and audio elements are interesting and entertaining, but not artistic. This is a fun comedy that a lot of people can identify with, not deep social commentary. However, the social commentary that IS in the film couldn't be more timely. The DVD itself is mediocre. No extras to speak of, other than cast bios and one trailer. Transitions from one menu to another are slightly animated, and the way the DVD starts up is cute, but overall the power of the DVD medium is not utilized.Movie ------- Originality: B+ Creativity: B+ Complexity/Depth: C+ Relevance/Message: A+ Artistic Merit: C Overall Entertainment Value: ADVD ------ Transfer Quality: A Extras: C- Use of Medium: C+ - Gary Cole - Comedy - Jennifer Aniston - Diedrich Bader'

The Motley Fool Personal Finance Workbook : A Foolproof Guide to Organizing Your Cash and Building Wealth

I bought this book about a year after college, when I wanted to come up with a plan to get rid of some credit card debt and begin saving money. This guide is fun and interesting, yet informative. It guides you step-by-step through good personal finance habits, and allows you to prioritize what goals you have for the future. The most insightful to me was when it asks you to name the things you spend that LEAST contribute to your happiness and MOST contribute to your happiness. I.E. - it's not wasteful if the spending improves your quality of life - versus you're just spending to spend! The workbook section asks you to guess how much you spend on things each month and then actually track your spending for 6 months to help you develop a realistic budget & see how you did. It's definitely a wake-up call to people like me, who seemed to piddle their money away without realizing exactly where it's going. This exercise helps you find the answer to that question!

David and Tom Gardner have once again succeeded at making something difficult seem easy. As an estate planner, I know that many people avoid financial matters out of fear . . . fear that they're not smart enough to understand them. The Personal Finance Workbook puts valuable financial planning information at your fingertips and the forms to keep track of your finances are right in the book. If you are just starting out after college, or a Baby Boomer beginning to think about retirement, or someone retired, this workbook will be immediately useful. On a more personal level, as a dad, I am glad that a personal finance book like The Workbook exists. Young people who take early action on managing their finances and developing good savings habits will be infinitely better off in the long run.

06/10/03 I like this book so far. I love the way it's written it gets you in the good mood for financial planning. It has me excited about learning how to manage my money. It does not make you feel like you are going to deal with a seroius & tedious issue. I look foward to doing this. I feel like this is going to be fun especially with the jokes. It sometimes catches you off guard. So far I give it 5 stars I will come back & update this later...

I wanted to get a cheap book for the class that i am taking and it worked out perfectly. It had great description of the book before i bought it and accurate. No torn pages, no highliting...it was wonderful and was delivered in the time they specified.

I haven't read it and I'm still broke and in debt. So the chances of this being a good, helpful book are still 50/50 at this point.

It's a workbook by the way. You'll feel like your in grade school when you use it. But those were good days, right? - Financial Planning Workbooks - Finance - Money Advice - Budgeting'

Nearly all of Dwayne Johnson's movies have been enjoyable, but this is the first time he's shown talent with acting. I've gotta say, he was pretty darn good in Tooth Fairy.

Johnson plays Derek, a professional hockey player with the nickname `The Tooth Fairy' which he was given for knocking out so many teeth on the ice. It's more than annoying in movies like this, where we know the character will eventually become the tooth fairy, and for some reason they feel the need to previously deem him with a strictly on the nose nickname; kind of like Tim Allen's character Scott Calvin having the same initials as Santa Clause, if you will. But I'm not a child, so my point here is irrelevant.

When Derek makes an un-wanted comment to his girlfriend's daughter about the tooth fairy not being real, he is sentenced to two weeks of `tooth fairy duty'. This sounds a little ridiculous, but we both know this film isn't aimed at you or me, but at the little ones. So looking at it from their point of view, it's on level with the plot of a great film like The Godfather or Saving Private Ryan, in comparison.

Derek's girlfriend is played by Ashley Judd and the harbinger of Derek's two weeks of doom, is a head fairy of sorts, played by Julie Andrews. There are plenty of humorous shenanigans to be had with Derek trying to cover up the fact that he is a tooth fairy, between his girlfriend and her two kids; which is to be expected.

While in `fairy land', Derek is met by a kind of Q character from the James Bond Franchise. His name is Jerry and he is played by none other, than the legendary Billy Crystal. Thank God he's back! Crystal is as enjoyable as ever, while him and Johnson exchange comedic moments back and forth while Derek is being given his fairy `instruments'; dog and cat repellent, magic fairy dust that will shrink you, etc.

Derek is also granted a humorous British side-kick / guardian angel named Tracy (Stephen Merchant). I don't know that I have ever seen this gentleman before, but I'm sure I haven't seen the last of him; he was hilarious. Jerry is a fairy who has been denied his wings and is forced to assist those sentenced to `tooth fairy duty.'

No it's not going to be the best movie of the year; but if you have even a smidgen of a sense of humor, you will at the very least smile. Tooth Fairy

Everyone said Schwarzenegger was miscast for Kindergarten Cop and yet it is one of the more popular films he made. His comic relief in movies like it and Twins and True Lies showed he had far more talent than he exhibited in movies like Commando [Blu-ray]. I think Dwayne Johnson is showing he is more than an action hero as well. I certainly like his toughness in movies like The Scorpion King [Blu-ray] and The Rundown [Blu-ray]. I have enjoyed everything I have seen him in so far, and although I love his action movies, I am entertained by his comedies as well. Another good one for the family here as he plays a mean hockey player that has to learn to respect peoples dreams including his own. He shows he can be tough but with a softer side as well. His ego takes a bruising and he learns the meaning of team player. Good quality DVD with a standard content. If you enjoyed this catch The Game Plan (Full Screen Edition) and Race to Witch Mountain (Single-Disc Edition).

I'm kind of picky about the movies I watch, which is why I don't watch many. I don't like stupid comedy (dumb and dumber is one of these in my opinion). I like it smart with a little good physical comedy thrown in. This movie made me laugh out loud. It's clean and leaves you feeling good. I was never a Dwayne Johnson fan in his "whatever he did before movies" days--but he is really good in the movies I've seen.

I thought this movie would be so corny that I would have to turn it off after a few minutes, but to my surprise I really liked it! It's genuinely funny and fairly unpredictable. I was very pleasantly surprised. It's actually not just for kids, adults will enjoy this one as well.

First off, I never watched "The Rock" as a wrestler and have only seen him in movies. I don't care if it is a comedy or drama, this guy can pull off any role. I think he is one of the most under rated actors today. Anyone should be able to see that Dwayne Johnson has some seriously great acting abilities. He makes any role believable and the Tooth Fairy is no exception. I think he is courageous to take on such versatile roles. He plays them all superbly!

This movie was very funny. It was light hearted and ranks up there with Tom Hank's "SPLASH" etc,,. I love his acting abilities.

Enjoyed this movie. Period.

You want funny and romantic? Then pop some popcorn and watch this movie.

To those harsh critics out there...guess what? This is a KIDS' MOVIE!!! Hellooooo! Of course there's not going to be any adult themes, violence, drugs/alcohol, swearing...it's a kids' movie. Sheesh! For those parents who are looking for a silly, happy, laugh out loud movie that you can watch with your entire family...even the little ones, then this movie is it. I commend The Rock for throwing on a tutu (and risk being called various horrible names for it) for the sake of making this film. The best part was that I could sit there & watch it with my little one and just relax! I didn't have to brace myself for what might be coming or feel as though we'd have to have a talk later about what he saw on TV. Not that we let him watch movies like that but even PG movies tend to throw in scenes that are not appropriate. I admit that my husband & I found this movie to be quite funny with the jokes & the antics. It really is a delightful movie and is now one of my family's favorites. For those harsh critics who were 'bored' because there was no violence or otherwise, go get a babysitter who would probably love to watch this movie with your kids & go catch a rate R flick or something. In the meantime, those who are looking for an entertaining movie they can watch with all members (and ages) of their family, then this movie is it! Worth watching over & over again...as most kids do! Klipsch Image S4 - in-ear, earbuds

CNET recently released their top 5 choices for best earbuds under $100 and so I figured since I already had the V-Moda Vibes (in need of replacing... the 4th broken pair of em) I would buy two other pairs (Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphone,Ultimate Ears SuperFi 3 Studio Noise Isolating Earphones (Black))and compare the three. CNET had the S4's at the top and after two weeks of solid use I couldn't agree more. Klipsch's buds seem to trump the other two in every way. The S4's cord doesn't conduct sound from rubbing like the Vibes, and isn't perma-kinked like the Ultimate Ears. The S4's are as stylish as the Vibe's though seem to be almost as durable as the rugged Ultimate Ears buds. As far as the sound goes the S4's have slightly tighter bass than the bass heavy (which I like) Vibes and more crisp highs than the Ultimate Ears. So here's the break down in my opinion.

For starters I'm going to address several key observations that need to be considered when looking at the Klipsch IMAGE S4 earphones and then tackle my "listening experience".

First: These earphones, from my experience, are possibly one of the best values in electronics today. Not just IEM, not just headphones...all electronics. Does that mean they are THE BEST in ear monitors on the market? No. But they are very, very, very good overall and outstanding once price is factored in. Based just on sound quality, comfort and features, the S4 is a 4 star item...based on that and price it's more than a 5 star. I keep seeing reviews where people are saying these are overrated because they don't stack up against model x, y, z and when you check prices on x, y, z they are four and five times the price of these. Would you expect a $20,000 car to stack up against an $80,000 car? No. But if you found a $20,000 car that stacked up against a $50,000 or $60,000 car you'd be thrilled, right? That's the S4, which is easily the best in ear monitor for under $200. That said, there are a multitude of personal preferences when it comes to earphones and the S4 may or may not meet those preferences as I will discuss later.

Second: Do NOT send these back or be upset with the sound of the S4 if you have not done burn in. For those not familiar with what this is, it means playing music through the earphones at approximately 25% to 50% above your normal listening volume (not while you are listening to them of course) for anywhere from 50 to 80 hours BEFORE using them normally. With dynamic earphones like these it is even more important and the S4 in particular seems to require it; out of the box, my pair sounded tinny with no bass and I was pretty annoyed by that (as have been some others in reviews on this site). However, after doing just 50 hours of burn in, they sound incredible.

Third: Fit will be a problem for some and even those its not a problem for due to size issues, it will be a problem because you have wear these differently than other "normal" earphones. The included eargels are, in my opinion, overly small. Even the large eargel seems a tad undersized and the small double flange and small normal (which seems more like a medium) just fall out. It's not like I have huge ears either as with most earphones there is usually an included size that is too big for me so, while I am able to get a seal with the large, I find it disconcerting that I feel like it might fall out. I attribute this to the patented design and the fact that they need to be inserted not straight in like normal earbuds, but at an upward angle; I am going to order the large double flanged eargels from Klipsch in the future in the hope it will help lock them in, but I am a little frustrated that I have to pony up another $13; they really should have included another $5 or $10 in eargels like they do on their Custom 2.

Listening Impressions:

The S4 is incredibly balanced, which seems to both win it fans and alienate others as it doesn't bias any one aspect of the listening experience; it reproduces the mix of the music as it was done in the studio. If you like large amounts of artificial bass, the S4 is NOT for you as its about realistic reproduction which means, if the track wasn't mixed with a lot of bass or doesn't have any, you won't hear any. Otherwise, if bass is part of the track mix it is plenty powerful.

Instrument definition is outstanding; you can hear the separate percussion instruments and multiple guitar lines. When someone slides their finger up a chord or a singer inhales before a high note, you can hear it. I'm amazed but what I am hearing in my music that I never knew was there before-entire parts and nuances to songs were totally missing with other headphones. Plus, you can HEAR quiet parts...especially at the ends of songs as they fade out. Some reviews speak to the harshness of the upper range with these...but I don't hear it. Maybe I'm just not attuned to that as much, but all I know is that nothing about the music I hear coming out of S4 is "harsh" in any way shape or form.

I listen to a wide variety of music: Classical (Mozart), Jazz (Pat Metheny), Bluegrass and Country (Alison Kraus, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, etc), Classic Rock (Eagles, U2, Boston), Rock (Nickelback, Vertical Horizon, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry) so I can speak to what the S4 is able to do across multiple spectrums of music. While it shines across the board, I feel the S4 is at its best (insofar as sounding MUCH better than the competition) on more complex music. I listened to Tim McGraw's Southern Voice album and Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night album back to back with Nickelback's All the Right Reasons album and Daughtry's Leave this Town album and with the former two, the detailed and intricate instrumentation jumps out of the S4 into your ears in a way I've never heard before. With the latter two, the sound quality is certainly better than others I've listened to...but its not like the "hearing the music for the first time" of the other albums because the musical arrangements are pretty simple and singular (just a lot of guitar, drums and bass all smashed together).

Finally, for a few final recommendations if you choose to purchase the S4:

The tin they come in is a little goofy. If you really want to fit the earphones in it, you have to pull out the padding that is inside or you will crush them. It's compact and its sturdy (more so than an unreinforced zippered case would be) so that is excellent, but its like they needed to make it bigger but didn't out of fear that it would be too bulky.

There have been a multitude of comments about the wires on these in that they seem thin. I agree...they seem a little thin; emphasis on little. Its not like they are the size of fishing line--they're just not fat. I will say this though...the wires, while thin, seem very sturdy. They don't bend in your hand like other lower tier wires do so I don't think breakage will be an issue if you treat them well (as you should if you are paying this much for earphones). Plus the wires are long enough without being too long so that they get tangled in everything. One last thing with the wires: they are really tightly wound in the package and, due to the sturdy material they are made of, they take awhile to naturally straighten out. I would advise you hang them from a safe place at night for a week to hasten that process along.

Finally, though this is not directly related to the earphones themselves, I feel the need to throw out some advice with regards to music quality and the S4. The S4 was specifically engineered for compressed music and it works well with it (whereas higher end phones like even the Klipsch Custom 2 make compressed music loss more evident)...BUT: please, PLEASE, if you have large amounts of music compressed BELOW 160 MP3 or 128 AAC, don't buy these-you are wasting your money. You will not be able to experience the fullness these provide with compressions that high and, in some cases, I found the S4 picked up artifacts in highly compressed music that ruined the listening experience. I had a lot of compressions in my music collection, but when I go these, I re ripped everything I had on CD to 196 AAC with VBR and it's a HUGE difference over 128 MP3 (and a pretty good difference over 128 AAC). I still have a mix of 128 AAC, 160 MP3...but the collection is 80% 196 AAC.

In the end, if you are primarily a compressed music listener (MP3, M4A player, iPod etc) who wants more clarity and definition in your music and you have (or can have) less compressed music files, then the Klipsch IMAGE S4 is, bar none, the best value in ear (and possibly the best value in any headphone) phone on the market today. I would recommend it above ANY other currently retailing under $200 today. - Earphones - In-ear - Earbuds - Klipsch S4'

Hand Saw - saws, woodworking

In the construction of my house, I found a regular handsaw somewhat exhausting to use. A circular saw creates an incredible mess. To finish my basement, I bought this Sharksaw. What a find! Using this, instead of a circular saw, kept the sawdust from flying all over the basement and the rest of the house. The saw cuts wood incredibly fast on the pull stroke! No longer do I get worn out from using a handsaw to cut multiple boards.I cut through hundreds of boards(2x4, 2x6, 1x3, plywood, treated) with ease, leaving a near perfectly smooth cut edge every time. The saw is very easy to start and guide a square edge with. When ripping, it is more difficult to guide. But it does ripcut. The blade is very narrow, so it cuts not much wider than a pencil line. The blade is very sharp. Treat it as you would your sharpest meat cutting knife. It comes with a plastic cover for the edge and a cardboard sheath. It has a hole in the blade to hang on a peghook. This saw features compact size, ease of use, accuracy of cut, and easy clean up. This will be my only handsaw. I love it! Shark Corp 10-2312 12-Inch Carpentry Saw

I was very skeptical about this saw, so much so, that I thought about not purchasing it. After using it, I wish I had purchased it long ago. This saw is one of the easiest to use, with an aggressive "bite" and comfortable handle. It is the first saw I turn to for general carpentry use, and is my favorite in my tool shack (garage). For those of you who do not use saws a lot, this is an excellent beginner saw as well as an excellent saw for pros. With most saws, if you mess up the teeth on the blade, you would have to throw the saw away. I messed up the teeth on my blade by loaning the saw to my son (who promptly left the saw out in the rain, and having tried to saw through a nail), but was able to use it for another 6 months before I had to buy a replacement blade (#01-2312).This saw is an excellent addition to any toolbox/shop.

Light, sharp, easy to use -- you can't run out of good things to say about this great saw. The thin blade cuts through wood, particleboard, PVC, whatever -- with virtually no effort. And the pull saw is very easy to control to get precise cuts with minimal effort. I like this saw so much I often find myself using it instead of my circular saw. A perfect tool.

Shark 10-2312 12-Inch Carpentry Saw - This started me on my addictive path to get every one of the Shark line of pull saws. From the first cut (not very straight, but that was my fault), I was sold. This is a work-horse saw. For anything other than trim, I pull this one out first.

These saws are: 1. sharp; 2. affordable; 3. easy to use (after a short learning curve).

These saws: 1. cut a thin kerf; 5. are very sharp; 6. allow you to do precision cutting.

And: they are very, very sharp (keep bandages with them - even though you've been warned - you'll have to find out for yourself).

I have moved ALL of my other hand saws to the back of the shop. These are a joy to use. I want to have each type (and have probably bought more than I have a need for). You will have to make a new miter box because these blades are too thin for any you have.

Some tips: 1. Don't pitch them in your toolbox or truck bed. These are precision tools and though they are quite strong, they are easily damaged. Use the blade guards that come with them. 2. Don't try to "muscle" them through a board. The old adage of "let the tool do the work" has never been truer. 3. Don't place the blade edge anywhere you don't want a mark left. I think I mentioned that they're very, very, very sharp.

(Since I don't know which review you might see first, I have left the same general review for each of these I own and added any specific thoughts for the individual saws.)

This is the BEST handsaw I have ever used. My brother has owned one for about five years, and put it through more abuse than I care to mention. Despite years of use, neglect, and among other things, cutting roots in soil, his saw still cuts almost as well as a new one. I finally got one for myself, and it is a joy to use. A handsaw that actually cuts effortlessly? Yes, this saw is it. It takes less than 20 seconds to cross cut a 2x4, and that's if you're trying to cut a straight line. A rough cut takes less time. Wet pressure treated lumber isn't a problem either. Takes a bit more time, but still a breeze. With so many power tools these days, corded and cordless, hand tools are often overlooked. However, the convenience of a hand tool can't be dismissed. Instead of having to drag out a bulky, heavy, noisy power saw, you can use this awesome saw and make a few quick cuts in the same time it would take to get ready to make the cuts with a power tool. The blade is thin, high carbon steel with hardended SHARP teeth. Easy to change too! The handle is comfortable in the hand. With a thin kerf and teeth this sharp, the pull stroke cutting action allows more precise control. Just an excellent tool. Make sure to keep the blade gaurd on the teeth when not in use to protect them, and yourself. Made in Japan.

This is far and away the best small saw I have ever used. I have a lot of experience with pruning and log cutting hand tools, and I have spent a lot of money getting saws that work well. This is not a pruning saw, I use it for carpentry, but no other saw I have used compares to this one for the smooth and fast and effortless cutting it will accomplish. But be aware, if you accidently saw a nail, this saw will self destruct, not just get dull, but actually break off the teeth. It is such a wonderful saw that I bought a replacement right away and I am very happy to take the extra care of keeping the guard on the saw and storing and using it with care, because it is such a wonderful small saw to cut with.

This is a great pull saw at a great price. It has a replaceable blade which is very handy. If you have ever been frustrated while sawing using a "western" saw because the saw buckles than this is what you want. It cuts on the pull stroke. I would highly recommend any pull saw but this one wins out because of its price. - Woodworking - Saws - Pull Saw'

Womens Fitness - core training ball, core strength

Great price AND free shipping? If you're thinking about getting one of these, DO IT.

I have a ton of medicine balls, and the Danskin ones are sooooo much better than the (hard) regular ones! They are soft and mushy, so you can grip them very easily when doing core exercises. Danskin DA-2637R 10 lb. Weighted Toning Ball

The only reason not to get this is if you don't want the box that says for women.

It has a nice easily grippable surface, a nice out of the package "give" (that you can adjust with a needle type pump), and weighs a lot for what looks like a child' toy (the practical joke opportunities write themselves)

The poster is a bit of a joke, download some exercises off the internet if you care.

The weighted toning ball has exceeded my expectations. For those exploring new workouts, the price on this ball is unbeatable. For everyone, the exercise dvd included in the box is fantastic! Teacher clearly walks you thru a 20 minute full body workout that incorporates exercises for all levels of fitness. I also appreciated the yoga and dance principles that were obviously used to develop the exercise routine. The morning after I felt a slight soreness that indicated I'd exercised areas in my arms and torso that were neglected by other exercises I'd been doing! And finally, the exercise dvd includes modifications or ways to make the exercises more difficult - very smart! This is a great addition to any fitness beginner or enthusiast.

This product is great for a variety of exercises including the exercises shown on the one page routine guide that comes with it (seemingly geared towards women) or just for purposes of adding resistance to situps and other light impact exercises that involve holding or throwing weight around.

Once inflated, with any type of ball pump, this toning ball is strong enough to have significant weight put on it. The skin is tough and rubbery although it needs to be pointed out that the surface of the ball attracts dust like nothing else so it requires routine cleaning.

This product can be used like any other medicine ball with the exception that this one doesn't bounce, which shouldn't be a problem since you would only bounce medicine balls off of a gym floor or other tough surfaces that most people might not have readily available anyways. On the other hand this is better than other medicine balls since this product is softer and easier to grasp.

I ordered this for my husband to reach Prime discount minimum $25 on an order. He uses them at his gym, but I use ours more than he does (I work out at home).

The kids really like throwing it back and forth, this is great to get them up and working instead of sitting in front of the tv. Also, they can never resist putting it on the floor as a joke when a new friend comes over. NO kid can resist picking up a ball and this one has a 10 pound secret - funny for those in on the joke!

My work out partner and I best like sitting foot to foot and doing sit ups, handing it off in the middle with each rep. You have the ball to think about, not how much you hurt! Also, I've used this in place of a plate during a full plate work out.

I found that this ball was a good weight for me to use with toning exercises. It is just enough to provide resistance without stressing my joints. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the plastic outside tends to attract dust, which sticks to it, so I have to be careful where I put it.

Yes its technically for women, but I figured at nearly half the cost of some of the 'manly' ones I could deal.

Plus its much more pleasent to leave out in this color.

Its soft, and doesnt roll it has a decent amount of yield. Seems like it could punture with some ease. I use it for core strength for BJJ--mostly legs twists as well as bicycle sit ups.

It works great!

these balls are sand filled and outer shell is not firm so the sand shifts, redistributing the weight when you move them. I gave 4 stars due to durability. I have dropped on floor as has my daughter and no problems what-so-ever.

I purchased this ball to use in my personal training business. I am having great success using this ball with clients. The texture is great and easy on the hands, so clients can use it for more activities than a traditional medicine ball. It's also great for things like push-ups and sit-ups. I like to use it as a partnering tool as well, and it works very well for tossing back and forth. The "softness" makes it easy to catch, especially when working with women who might be a little intimidated by catching a 10 lb. ball! I highly recommend this product! - Core Strength - Fitness - Danskin - Core Training Ball'

Exit Through The Gift Shop - documentary, art

I feel lucky to find these at my local library. I love short films, and these movies are hard to get unless you buy them. I have seen a handful of the Film Movement films, and they are always excellent.

I didn't like all of the short films, but 5 out of 8 is not bad! They range from 5 to 15 minutes, and they are filmed all over the world. My favorites were:

Aided Migration- An animated story about a bird who isn't well enough to migrate, so he has to take a plane, but it goes the wrong way. Lucky for him, a vengeful animal in disguise has a plan.

The Sickie- A dedicated, hard-working man takes care of everything (and everyone) in the office, but he needs a break, so he decides to call in a "sickie." Can he actually stay away?

Man in the Moon- Another fun animated film where a man who lives on the moon realizes that he will have some visitors very soon.

A Half Man- This one was a little depressing, but very strange and interesting. A man with only half of his body (animated) does his best to work and take care of his little girl, without letting his body parts fall out.

The Great Zambini- A man, who used to be in the circus, tries to win back the affection of his son. It appears to be filmed in Spain, but you would never know it, because there are only 2-3 words spoken throughout. The sign of a great story is that there is no need for the characters to speak, because they show you everything, not tell. This one was my favorite.

The other three films were pretty good, but I liked these the most. Well worth a viewing. Recommended! Film Movement Festival Shorts Collection Volume 1

I generally like Film Movement selections and these shorts were first of the kind I saw offered to the public. I decided to try them, since they are compilation of the 8 (eight) short movies from various short film festivals in Europe and North America. Some of the films are animations, some are computer graphics and others are just great short stories interestingly setup. The absolute best of all is the film called "Dance Lessons" by a French director. It has not a single spoken word in it but will make you laugh all the way. The second one I like most is the short British film called "Sickie" about overworked and under-appreciated office worked who decides to take a sick day off until he realizes that VIP will not get all his servcies in order for that day unless he personally takes care of it. The music in "Sickie" is absolutely great. And the next one I really liked was animated movie abnout bird's migration. What is bird to do if he cannot fly to the warm climate? Totally cute one. The selection is very interesting and the thought process behind these short muvies in deep, not accidendal. Do not think that because these films are short that they were slapped on quickly without serious effort. To the contrary, these young directors have said a lot with only 5 minutes of time alloted to them. But the "Dance Lesson" is movie no one can forget - ever!! - Documentary - Independent Film - Banksy - Art'
