Backpacking Stoves - backpacking stoves, hiking equipment
I've had this burner for 4 years, and I've come to the conclusion that the few ounces you save in weight with this stove aren't worth the hassle. Frankly, it is tipsy. You see how in the picture each leg has a flat spot for the pot to rest on? Well in reality the legs do not open all the way, and the pot ends up resting on three points, the "elbows" of the three arms. This is precarious and if your pots have anti-stick coating on the outside, forget about it. When water starts to boil the bubbling action is enough to threaten to topple everything over. I have spilled boiling water on my hand because of this.
Overall this product should only be considered by those who place a very high premium on minimizing their pack weight. For all others it's worth getting a slightly heavier, but more stable model. MSR Pocket Rocket Stove
This stove is probably one of the easiest to operate, very basic yet has the ability to control the flame-temp. The stove is small and compact therefore making it almost the perfect choice for backpackers looking to keep weight down. I generally prefer white gas model stoves due to the fact for me the fuel is MUCH easier to find than the fuel canisters this model uses and cheaper too, BUT i perfer taking this stove along if Im not planning on staying long or cooking alot of food because i find it a tad easier just to throw this in a pack with a canister of fuel and hit the road. No worries about the possibility of spilling gas all over your stuff from a fuel bottle, ive never had a fuel canister leak. The downside of this stove is being tippy when you place a pan on top therefore having to make sure you place the stove on a level surface. Of course in the great outdoors things are rarely perfectly level so gotta be careful it doesnt tip over spilling hot liquid all over you! Another red checkmark against this stove is COLD weather, if you plan on taking this out in 20f degree weather or colder you may have to place the fuel canister inside your coat to help kinda warm it up. I've tested this stove out in -8f temp and it failed with a weak flame, i ended up building a fire instead. Also this stove doesnt perform as well as my dragonfly on windy days so you may have to rig a windbreak to keep the flame going. Other than those things i would recommend this stove to folks that dont want to spend alot for the stove itself and dont want to fiddle with white gas stoves...These stoves are pretty much idiot proof.
The pocket rocket is certainly compact and will heat your food, but you will be lucky to be able to warm two meals with a single fuel canister, and they cost about five bucks a piece. If you plan on an extended hike, be prepared to shell out for fuel and rent a mule to carry the necessary number of canisters.
I'm a gear freak. I own 3 Whisperlites (2 I got cheap), a Jetboil (gift) and a Pocket Rocket (from REI around 2005 I think). I have several other odd stoves too. While they all had their place their niche use has been squeezed out by the excellent Pocket Rocket.
I've always been a fan of MSR Whisperlite stoves and have used them for 20 years. About 5 years ago I considered a canister type stove as white gas stoves have the downside of the fuel smell and the extra time to pump and warm/prime the stove. I wanted a more convenient lightweight stove I could use on day hikes, fishing/hunting trips and to make a quick cuppa on chilly rock climbing days. After some research, I found the MSR Pocket Rocket was the lightest and most powerful stove of it's type. It was also less than $35 so cheaper than it's competition. It was easily the best at that time, and might still be.
I have used mine almost every weekend for years, in every season, on day trips and on several multi day trips and now always take it as an emergency stove with a titanium pot, when I venture into the wild, even in winter. Together with a lightweight pole-less 2 man bothy shelter I have all the gear I need to survive a night out in relative comfort at the weight of about a liter of water. When it's that cold I keep the canister in a warm jacket pocket but it has boiled water successfully at 12,000 feet in February, in Colorado. The speed of deployment and fast boil times even in harsh environments mean my Whisperlite gets little use these days.
There are low star reviews of it being unstable. I have never found this to be the case with the larger canister. There are 2 canister diameter sizes, the small one (jetboil size) is going to be unstable with a large full pot on anything but a picnic table, but I typically only use the small canister with a small titanium pot or enamel cup. I have the old MSR Alpine Cook set and both large and medium pots work well with the larger canister.
The complaints about the heat being too central is somewhat correct. It is a very powerful stove with a small head so the heat is central and will create a hot spot, that will burn your food if you're not careful. However if you're boiling water this is an advantage and why it's boil times are so fast. If you then add your dehydrated meal to the pot you must turn the stove down. The stove will simmer on a very low heat (something Whisperlites are poor at) and if I do burn my food, it's generally my fault.
A fuel saving tip (discovered as the solution to Whisperlites simmering issues) is to boil the water, add the dehydrated food, stir, heat again, stir again and turn off the stove. Place somewhere safe and wrap it in something warm (jacket, sleeping bag etc) and leave it for an extra 10 minutes, stirring once or twice. It'll cook no problem, you might want to add a burst of heat if necessary. I usually get to my camp spot, get out my stove, get the food cooking, wrap the pot and then start setting up my tent. By the time that's done my food is ready.
The isopropane canisters are resealable so you can switch them out easily. I'll save the canisters with only enough gas left for one or two boils, for day trips like rock climbing/fishing. Two midsized canisters will last a 4 day backpacking trip for me. For multi day trips I would recommend 2 canisters in case one leaks. While that never happened to me, I guess it's possible, and there are stories of back packs blowing up from leaking canisters (I should check snopes or mythbusters on the truth to that!).
The trade off of weight does mean you have to be careful with it. It's not very rugged and I have bent the pot legs a number of times, they do bend right back though. I keep mine in the hard plastic container it came with, which will just fit a small bic lighter in as well. It's a wiggle but it does fit if you slide both in at the same time.
After many years of extensive use and as a standby "just in case", it still functions like new. I highly recommend this stove and if I lost mine I would replace it with another identical one without hesitation. Mine does not have a piezo ignition built in and that would be a welcome feature addition. I always have a fire steel lighter with me as a back up to the stowed bic lighter, and because it's a smart, lightweight thing to carry in the wild.
A titanium pot, and pocket rocket is lighter than a Jetboil. I own one of them too and hardly ever use it. A Jetboil requires you to use their pot while a Pocket Rocket does not. I paid $15 on CraigsList for a titanium pot but frequently just use an over sized dollar store enamel mug, so comparing cost to a $100 jetboil, the Pocket Rocket wins again (by about $50!). It's only a few bucks more than the cheapo walmart stoves and will outperform them considerably.
The only time the MSR Whisperlite is my "go to" now is multi day high mountain cold weather trips where keeping the canister warm may not be possible. While I bought the Pocket Rocket to fill a niche on day trips it has expanded to become my go to stove in almost every other situation. The pros far outweigh the cons of this stove and it is definitely a 5 star rated piece of kit. - Stove - Camp Stoves - Backpacking Stoves - Hiking Equipment'

Sport Towel - yoga, yoga accessories
After purchasing the Aurorae yoga mat and rosin bag, I thought I'd try the yoga towel as well. It's terrific! It keeps my mat nice and dry during my work out and along with the rosin bag, my slipping problem is now non-existent. You guys are the best!! Can't wait to see what other products you come out with. Aurorae Yoga 100% Terry Cloth Cotton Sport Sweat Hand Towel. 16" X 24" Absorbs perspiration.
A good Yoga towel is small enough provide padding or a clean spot without being thick enough to affect the practitioner's balance.
It should also be long enough to be rolled and wrapped around the neck if needed to cushion a neck being bent back.
It must also be absorbent.
The Yoga 100% Cotton Sweat Towel by Aurorae does all of this for me.
Once again, I am really pleased with Aurorae's products. I used this towel together with the Rosin Bag on my Aurorae mat. This is a really nice sized towel and soft enough to rest under my forehead. I use it folded up to help with some poses, as well. Use it with the Rosin Bag and you will not slip at all!
This towel is a nice looking towel that can be used to wipe off any sweat from your body or towel during your yoga practice or even while working out. I love the company so I thought I'd support them by getting the towel. Once again, a home run. Can't wait to see what they come out with next.
I tend to sweat before the class has even started. Imagine what it's like once I'm a few stretches in. This towel
is a life saver, both literally and mentally. Now I can easily mop the floor around my yoga mat from the amount
of sweat I get everywhere! Thanks Aurorae!
This towel is hands-down the best towel my skin has touched. It's plush, soft, luxurious, and does an excellent job of wiping sweat! I love it. In fact, I'd love to have several of these towels. I think if you have a family member of friend interested in their health, this would make a perfect gift (or part of a gift pack with Aurorae Yoga's other products) for a birthday, anniversary, or holiday.
I have used this towel for at least a ten yoga sessions. It is a quality item. I am not convinced that there is anything special about it. I prefer a cotton dust cloth to this item. If you are into 'cool' buy several because it is nice and the stitch work is great. If you can wipe your head with a hand towel or dust cloth, forget about and move on. - Yoga Accessories - Yoga - Yoga Towel - Sport Towel'

counter - lap counters, counter
I use this to count prayers and like the fact that I can silence the beep. The mechanical tally counters are noisy and are not appropriate for my use - especially when other people are around. I have been using the E2 for almost 2 months and so far the unit works great. The small blue button at the top (used for resetting the tally) sticks out too much and can easily get pressed down causing the tally to go to zero. So what I have done is to stick two felt pads on either side of the blue button and then put a thick rubber band around the edge of the unit to further prevent the counter from accidentally resetting. The unit is small and light weight. The E2 only counts upwards - which is all I need. The E3 can also count downwards, but with two smaller buttons, I suspect that people may press the wrong button on the E3. Electronic Tally Counter
To the review given by P. Nyer just previous - good news - the new design of this unit prevents this problem. The count will not reset to zero unless both the blue and the count buttons are pressed at the same time for three seconds. Additionally the device will not turn off unless the count is reset to zero and the blue button is pressed for three seconds. Haribol!
-------------------------------------------------------------
Well it's about four months now owning this unit. I am still very happy with it ... although I now agree with P. Nyer's comments. I thought this was a new design ... it isn't ... and if you keep your counter in, say, your pocket with other items there is a good chance that those items will push both buttons [counter and on/off buttons] and clear or reset the counter. The surprise you get is that the count is lower than when you put it in your pocket. Some people would think that this is ecstatic because it gives one a chance to extend one's daily prayers ... sigh ...
So I used felt in the way suggested by P. Nyer ... a piece of cheap felt from a dollar store ... folded over and delicately cut out a small slit for the hole [remember felt is easy to fall apart] and then make a strip from the felt and epoxy it to the end of the unit with the on/off button. Over time the felt frays ... not to fear as it still provides the same service to resist counter reset ... at some time in the future I suppose I'll need to replace the felt, but since I've used this tip I've never had a surprise reset again.
I purchased this item to replace the "tick sheet" tallies each week when I volunteer at the airport. We are supposed to keep track of how many passengers we help during our 4 hour shift. I used pen and paper for this for 3 years, quite clumsy and easy to forget. With this simple clicker, MUCH easier. It's exactly what I needed, records accurately, resets easily, easy to read, no problems whatsoever. - Lap Counter - Counter - Lap Counters'

Flex-shaft Kits - flex-shaft kits, attachments
I've found the flex-shaft to be one of the most useful Dremel tool accessories. It's great for those remote, hard-to-reach areas of my work pieces where the width of the tool itself would hinder my efforts, ot it just can't reach. It took a while for me to get the hang of using it, since it required a bit more hand control than I originally anticipated. Just make sure to keep it as straight as possible, and don't bend it too much- it heats up pretty quickly, especially at the bends. And heat's the big killer of this accessory. Also, be sure to have a bit of the flex-shaft grease handy for occasional lubrication. The only thing that annoys me about the flex-shaft is that it won't accept a chuck to secure the bits, just collets. This can be a major frustration when I'm doing work that requires constant bit changes, with different bit diameters. Just when I thought I was rid of those pesky collets forever...`Late Dremel 225-01 Flex Shaft Attachment
They have the MultiSaw, they have the Chuck, even the magnet-powered Dremelite, but nothing comes close to the Flexshaft. This baby is THE essential attachment for a Dremel. It comes with easy-to-read instructions on How to put it on, and it even has a diagram showing the different parts and the part numbers. (in case something gets broken, as in my case). This thing is incredible. I polish silver Quite a bit with my Dremel, and this thing makes it easy to get into those ultra-hard-to-reach areas. (my current project is a silver clarinet of my grandmother's). If you only get one attachment for Your Dremel, This one is way out in front for the choice. (just don't put it past 30000 RPM unless you have the flex-shaft tool holder, not that anything bad will happen, it just makes this annoying chattering noise).
5 out of 5
I've had my 350 series Dremel for over ten years, now, and that poor workhorse of a tool has seen a LOT of use in that time, carving everything from wood to bone to amber to turquoise. My only beef about that awesome little bit of technology is the amount of vibration it puts my wrist through- ouch. If I've been going for a couple of hours (my average time on it is three hours at a stretch), my hand is a distorted, cramped up mess due to the vibration...
Enter the flex-shaft. I got to try one of the old ones (the plain, black cased pen type) a bunch of years back, and I'd loved it then, but couldn't afford one. They were still fairly new, and I was just starting out with learning how to use my tool anyway. But I'm getting serious into the carving, lately, and my wrist just couldn't handle it, so I went nosing around for that wonderful little pen I could carve with and found the new model here. At first, I was worried that it wouldn't be compatible with my beastie, which was old when I got it as a gift, but I looked up the specs, did some digging and found that it should fit with my model.
Awesome.
So I ordered it. :)
Got it in less than a week and a half, and I immediately went for the little set of instructions, read 'em, did all the prep stuff to set it up, and started playing around with some silver I'd been saving to polish. Yes! I could work without my poor hand going numb! More awesome.
So, all that windy blather aside, I'm happy with the flex-shaft. It's everything I'd hoped for it to be: lightweight (definitely an issue with my joints), easy to use, and quite compatible with my old Dremel. I should have gotten one these ages ago!
I wont repeat what everyone else has said about this being a fine tool,It is and my only gripe about it is that it is not really a heavy duty piece. If you try to grind a cylinder head port you will find out fairly quickly that this flex shaft is for light duty only and will overheat and or become disconnected internally. Otherwise it works very well on all manner of things.
Great tool as has been said by others.. but wanted you to know if you own an older model Dremel tool as I do, this will fit some of them.
It fits my older model 380 just fine and works great. Not sure why Dremel doesn't list it as working, unless it's just TOO old to worry about.
There may well be variables between all the models they put out over the years so can't say "ALL" older models so be sure and check it out first.
But there is reason to check like I did 8-)
I use my dremel to drill holes in glass. The flex shaft is great because it's easy to handle and allows me to drill into water without risking putting my dremel into water. I also like using it with the foot pedal and the chuck. The flex shaft does what it says it does and does it well.
With the Flex Shaft it becomes far easier to do fine detailed work especially on small items. The power loss with my Dremel 800 series cordless wasn't a problem at all for doing some simple engraving and jewelry work.
Also note that the MULTIPRO Chuck (Amazon B0000302ZV )I bought a few months back works fine with this flex extension.
I have only just attached this accessory to my Dremel tool today, but I like it so far. The packaging states that this tool fits the following model Dremel tools: 400, 300, 398, 395, 285/200, 275/100, 800, 780, 4000, & 8200. The directions state that you cannot use router bits or other large diameter cutting bits because of possible kickback and loss of control. Also, the instructions advise that the flexible shaft can become disengaged if you don't elevate the rotary tool to a height that is higher than the flex shaft end, so you may want to purchase part #2222 (Rotary Tool Stand) to keep the rotary tool elevated. It accepts the following four collets: No. 480 (1/8"), No. 481 (3/32"), No. 482 (1/16"), & No. 483 (1/32"). The directions don't state anything about whether or not a chuck can be used with this system.
there a many design changes that improve function over the original flexshaft design. my hand doesn't get as tired as quickly as with the older version. however, you still have to be very careful to not let the shaft overheat and keep it lubed. - Rotary Tool Accessories - Woodworking - Attachments - Flex-shaft Kits'

Sony Rechargeable Battery Pack - charger, camera batteries
I lost my Sony Charger for my DSC-T77 Cybershot, ordered this based on the reviews. And yea, it definitely charged my battery! I thought, well it probably won't last long, I haven't had to charge it in 3 days and have taken around 20 pictures since, and the battery is still full! They were super fast at shipping, about 2 days, can't beat the price! I haven't tried the car charger, but that's just a bonus. Thanks to the reviews, this charger is legit! HDE Sony Cyber-Shot AC/DC Battery Charger for NP-BD1, NP-FD1, NP-FR1 & NP-FT
It is compact and works well out of the shipment. I have Sony type D and G batteries for different Sony cameras. This charger works for both types. To charge those two type of batteries, one has to face up and the other face down due to the way they design the charger. There is a piece of paper of instruction show you how. But it will be nice if there is mark on the charger itself so just in case I lost that piece of paper, I still can place the battery in correct direction and not damage my battery. Overall, good price for the product.
I lost my original Sony charger - I know my battery is in good shape, and this charger was fast (great to have the camera functionign again). It was so cheap, I wish I had ordered two in cae I lose one again (the shipping was more than the charger).
Item is definitely aftermarket but works wonderfully! It only took a couple hours to charge my battery and it's working great! It's also very nice that it came with a car charger as well... Definitely would recommend.
Left the original charger at a bed&breakfast. Ordered this one on a Sunday, had it on Thursday in time for a long weekend trip. Works great, awesome price. Definitely recommend the product & the seller.
OK the wall charger works as it should but that is all I got, and it specifically says there is also a car charger adapter which I didn't receive with my shipment. Maybe I should report it, but I cant really complain for the price its great.
much better than spending $50 at a Sony store or reseller, this charger works for my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T300 which has battery NP-FD1. It's slow... I left it for about 24 hours since just a few hours didn't do much charging. I tried an all-in-one charger from Meritline which didn't work and cost a few dollars more. This one works, is cheap, and I'm happy with it! Just slow.... give it time.
Surprisingly FAST shipping! and came with car charger adapter but haven't tried it. Just shows the extra value you get though. - Rechargeable Batteries - Charger - Sony Battery - Camera Batteries'

Door Levers - z-wave, zwave
I installed these locks on my front and garage door a week ago and surprisingly it has been working flawlessly. I am using (Support Challenged) Micasa Verde Vera as Z-Wave gateway since it's too difficult for me to understand why to pay monthly costs to a service provider when I can do it for free with little or no learning but some patience. Here's my feedback and ovservation so far
Looks: Nice, I have brass and matches with other locks in the house from Schlage
Built: Typical Schlage - good
Adding it to Z-wave network "With Vera": Easy enough but I have go through an upgrade and plug-in
Adding Codes: I can add codes "4 Digit" only with names including the ability to control the day and time when the code will be active - example Maid Service or a Nanny who is about to retire. You cannot edit/modify the code but you can remove and re-add.
Lock/Unlock: From outside all you have to do is to enter your code, making sure, no one is watching with binoculars and you will hear a click and green LED. Turn the knob and it will open. To Close just hit the "Schlage" button after you turn the knob to lock. And yes it does not rotate the knob by itself like other model of Schlage but that is non-Zwave device. You can also use traditional keys to open or close. At night you can press the Schlage button first to illuminate the keys before entering the code - helpful.
Battery and battery life: It comes with 3xAA and 1x9 Volt battery and advertized life is too long to believe but so far I did not see even 1% drop after a week's use.
Status and Remote Operation: You can always see the status of the lock as "Lock" or "Unlock" from any web-browser/iPhone etc. Operate it from anywhere to let someone in.
Notification: You can program using Zwave gateway to send you notification Via SMS/Email alert case a particular code is used OR wrong code is used.
Fun/Programming: Being Z-wave you can trigger several events when a particular code is used including but not limited to switching on lights case it's dark or start thermostat to cool/heat your home. Each of these events require additional hardware/device or a module.
Security: Schlage lock and your Z-wave gate will secure the transmission over RF (Radio Frequency) using encryption keys (digital keys - something similar to when you access your bank over SSL/https web browser). This is from what I have read so far before purchasing and so far I am convinced that it is easier to find someone's keys under the doormat as compared to hacking the security of the lock with the exception of those binoculars or being careless to use easy numbers like 1234 (as my 5 year suggested me :-) for his code)
Elderly/Disabled: Terrific use to avoid going to the door to let someone in. Can combine with a motion sensor and an IP Camera to know who is at the door before clicking unlock.
Cons:
- Not a motorized lock. Case you forget all you can do is to program Z-Wave gate to remind you that door is still unlocked
- Incoming traffic is logged and you know when someone is coming in but there Is no way possible to know when someone leaves
- One more thing in life to make you couch potato especially when you combine with a motion sensor and an IP Camera at your front door.
Hope you'll find what you're looking for. Additionally Kwickset also announced series of upcoming product based on this technology. Competition may bring the price down - possibly. Schlage LiNK Wireless Keypad Entry Lever Add-on Lock, Satin Nickel
Owning and managing a rental property is difficult enough. One real problem that has existed for years has been the management of access. Traditionally, keys would have to be mailed and returned, or staff hired to provide keys to renters and then collected. Keys can also be lost legitimately lost, leaving both the renter and property in a finger pointing battle. Push-button locks solve the lost keys, but people can share the access code. With Z-wave and Schlage Link, you gain the ability to control the lock remotely and add/remove access codes from anywhere in the world! With Schlage Link, I have the ability to create a housekeeping code and be notified every time it's used (by sms and/or email). I can also create property management codes and guest specific codes (that I can remove or disable when necessary. All remotely, from my computer or iphone. With Schlage Link and the provided light module, I can also power on/off lights when no one is in the property for protection (the light module also acts as a repeater should you need to extend the distance between the z-wave device and the door lock).
The quality of the Schlage hardware is typical: amazing. The lock looks beautiful on my door. The key-pad also lights up (by pressing the Schlage button) so as to be used in the dark. The batteries are expected to last close to three years depending on usage, keeping the locks accessible in the event of power or internet outage. Also the setup was an absolute breeze!
All in all, I am delighted with the hardware, the setup, the usage of the product, and the software/internet accessibility! I even purchased an additional dead-bolt and thermostat.
First the good, it works, connects to micasaverde's vera, so no need to subscribe and pay for schlage"s monthly service. I would have given it 5 stars except for the following issues.
Zwave range is not great. Also if you use micasaverde or schlage link, you need to have the controller within range of the lock or you need to buy a schlage light module which supports zwave security settings as the last link to the lock. A regular zwave light switch or node that does not support zwaves new security settings cannot be the last zwave link to the lock.
Also, schlage currently has no extension kit for the lever lock, (they say they have one for the deadbolt), so if you have a door that is not standard size (mine is 2 1/4" and will not work)you will have to rig something. - Door Levers - Z-wave - Zwave'

Composite Deck Screws - trex transcend, composite deck screws
If you have read the installation instructions for Trex, there are two specific screws they recommend for Trex Transcend. This is one of the screws recommended. There is a reason for this, and it is not just matching colors (though that is nice too.) I found out the hard way!
My experience with other fasteners:
I first started installing my Trex Transcend using the same composite screws recommended by my local lumber store that had worked great for their customers on other types of Trex for years, but they had not yet had customers use the Trex Transcend so they didn't really know better. I quickly got extremely frustrated because when the head of their recommended screw hit the Transcend it would not bury like you would expect because the head was too big. I knew something was wrong because the clutch on my drill/screwdriver was maxed out, and it still couldn't drive the head down. Instead, usually the head would sit on top until you cranked the screw so hard (I had to turn off the clutch completely on my screwdriver) that it stripped out the underlying joist and the head would just spin on top of the Transcend. Very frustrating. It seems to me that Trex Transcend is much harder than other types of Trex.
Every now and then I would get lucky and the screw would bury properly, but this was rare. I managed to get around this a bit by pre-drilling every single screw. This worked a little better, but not always and it was extremely tedious.
My experience with these screws:
In desperation I looked up the Trex installation instructions and found that these Phillips II high performance composite screws were specifically recommended. These screws were not available at any of my local hardware stores (I checked them all) but I found them here, so I ordered a few boxes.
Upon opening the box I was pleasantly surprised. The color exactly matched the Vintage Lantern color of my Trex Transcend! I also noticed that the head was significantly smaller than the other screws that I had been using. This gave me hope of improved performance. I tested them out and had a much, much better experience! The head of these buries nicely into the Transcend with no need to predrill!! If you angle the screw then you will experience a bit of a small mushroom on the side that you angled the screw to, but if you drive it straight in then there is no mushroom. Also, the head of these screws did not strip out anywhere near as easily as the other screws that I tried using.
In conclusion, I can't express how much headache this saved me! If you are installing Trex Transcend DO NOT use traditional composite decking screws! Use these instead. The smaller head buries nicely, and the colors match exactly. VINTAGE LANTERN BROWN 2-1/2" 5lb Composite Deck Screws
These screws are recommended on the Trex documentation!!!
I used the hidden fasteners on most of my 500 sq ft deck. There were a few areas where I needed to use a fastener. I looked around town at the big box stores and found nothing that matched very well. If you're going to use Trex Transcend, don't use a fastener that doesn't match. I also checked some of the specialty lumber and hardware stores. They had fasteners that were close, but the color didn't match very good.
These fasteners actually cost less than the fasteners I could get anywhere in town. Also, they match perfectly with the Vintage Lantern decking. You can barely see them. And, if you pay attention to your locations and spacing, they add to the decking.
Make sure you drill a pilot hole with a 1/8" bit (or maybe a bit smaller). Actually, practice with 2-3 screws on some scraps so you get the amount of drilling needed and the torque on your drill gun. These screws won't mushroom.
Nice! They even sent me some extra sample screws and a couple of philips drill bits. Worth the extra time for shipping and they may cost less then what you find locally.
I felt silly mail ordering deck screws for my deck. However, these screws do a much better job avoiding the mushroom or volcano affect that can crop up on composite decks. I tried the current brands available at the two big box hardware stores and these were clearly better. I also liked that I could order the darker brown from Phillips. The stores near me only provided the light brown and green screws which did not match my decking. It does take some practice to keep the screw and driver aligned to avoid popping it out and chipping off the paint on the screw head. This is not a big deal but it is worth driving a few screws into some scrap to get the hang of it before starting on deck.
These screws matched the Trex Vintage Lantern decking really well. Each box covered approx 100 square feet running joists 16" oc. These screws were nicer than the FastenMaser TrapEase screws that I've used. No mushrooming or breking screws. The only issue I had was the paint coming off on the screw head every once in a while. Overall, I really liked the product. - Composite Deck Screws - Trex Transcend'

I purchased the MIIIFS stapler to lay approximately 1,700 sq. ft. of 3/4 inch red oak flooring in my new home. After installing well over 1,400 sq. ft. here are some of my observations:1) The tool makes it very easy for a novice to put down a nice, tight hardwood floor. If the boards are laying tight an easy swing of the mallet is all it takes to fully seat a staple (more on this later). If the board is warped the MIIIFS can stand up to a solid mallet smack without any trouble. The mallet's plastic face, by the way, does not show any signs of cracking so far.2) The stapler efficiently uses the its air so you do not need a big compressor. I have been using a 1.5 hp unit with a 6 gallon tank. Output is set at 85 psi. I doubt such a small compressor could supply two nailers simultaneously, but it handles one quite nicely.3) The stapler did develop a small air leak near the top shortly after I began using it. The amount of leaking is small (based on psi drop at the compressor) but does make a distracting noise. This leak does not affect the function or reliability.4) At your starting wall you need to face nail the flooring until you get about 6 inches from the wall. After that you'll have enough room to get the stapler into position.5) As you approach the far wall the stapler can be used up to the last 13 or 14 inches.6) As mentioned earlier the tool only requires an easy mallet smack. However, if you don't swing firmly enough the staple will not seat fully. This is usually caused by crowding against the far wall and not having enough room to swing the mallet.7) The firing knob is too stiff to actuate by hand reliably - the mallet is required. It would have been nice if there was a way to trigger the stapler by hand then you could use it much closer to the far wall.8) I have not had any problems with jamming. The unit I've been using has reliably shot every staple right down to the very last one in the magazine.9) I have heard some rumors of staple-style flooring nailers damaging the floor's tongue. After closely examining several hundred staples in oak I'd say that about 2 or 3 percent show any signs of tongue damage. Some of this infrequent damage is due to stapling through a knot or due to handling. Some is due to the MIIIFS. I'm not sure how this compares to nail-style nailers. Anytime you send a fastener through kiln dried hardwood you're bound to have some occassional splitting.Would I buy the MIIIFS again? You bet I would. Despite its few minor shortcomings this tool has saved me a LOT of work and the price is lower than other pnuematic nailers that I've looked at. Bostitch MIIIFS 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic Floor Stapler
As a professional building contractor I have tried several flooring tools, and can easily state that this is the best fastening system I have experienced for both unfinished and prefinished flooring. The staples hold better than cleat nails, and result in far less tongue splits as well. Surface marring and excessive tongue splitting are caused by improper or inexperienced operation of the tool, not by the tool itself.
I run a hardwood flooring company in Wyoming and have 3 of these units running all the time...They are durable and very dependable...we have been experiencing problems with the nuts and bolts holding the bottom plate on. Several of these bolts are in hard to reach areas and come loose and fall out several times a day. I would recommend this item to anyone, but I also would recommend that you buy a bottle of LockTite at the same time, And go through and LockTite all of the bolts, Other than that this is a awesome unit, We have one that is one of the very first air assist bostich nailers and it is still running strong. Good luck!
I purchased this nailer from Amazon to lay 3/4" hardwood flooring in several rooms in my house. I have since fired about 5000 staples through it without any problems whatsoever. This stapler is very well designed ergonomically and mechanically. The mallet is big and somewhat massive in weight but there is a purpose in that. It takes very little effort and just a slight tap to drive a staple because it is pneumatic. So if a board lays nice and straight, then a slight tap will suffice, but if you have a somewhat uncooperative piece of flooring, then you will appreciate the heft of the mallet because it will cause the most finicky of boards to come together and lay tightly. The handle is long and fits well in your hand. Consequently your not bent over as much. My first floor laid was oak and I've started my second which is brazillian cherry. This wood is extremely heavy and dense. This stapler does not care how hard the wood is, it just works and flawlessly at that. After all isn't that what you want from a tool, flawless performance!
I've installed thousands of feet of hardwood with the M111FS and it has, so far, worked flawlesly. The hammer activated model does a nicer job than the older trigger activated one. The light mallet blow required is just enough to drive the board being fastned tightly against the existing work for a tight joint and at the same time offering resistance against the driving mechanisum to insure uniform and propper seating of the staple.
I have received (2) Staplers and both units developed identical operating problem within (5) hours operating time. A small air leak developed upper section below rubber driving cap. Shortly after air leak developed 8 to 10 staples, units stopped operating.I have checked operating procedures and have found no problem. Have discussed problem with other users that had rented unit from Home Depot and was told they experienced absoultely no problem. Even after 20 hours of hard use, rented unit operated perfectly for them. I have request another unit and am in the process of shipping these defected (2) Units back. Also have e-mailed Bostitch and requested technical support.
If you have ever used a hard wood nailer that wasn't pnuematic, you'll want all that time back once you get your hands on one of these. Fast and easy to use. I've used one for years with no problems or regrets. - Staplers - B000f3i5zy - Bostitch - Cpo Bostitch'

American Made - scotch, tape
I like this package tape it is almost 2 inches wide, thus wide enough to cover well were the box ends meet, and comes off the roll easy. ***DO NOT LET CHILDREN UNDER 12 USE THIS*** Why 4 stars because the red plastice guide has a very sharp metal edge for cutting the tape. It is easy to cut your finger ( I cut mine). So be carelful when using. I would still buy this again, but be more careful when using. Perfect for a boy or girl Clone Wars fan. My son and daughter split the pack and had plenty for both of their rooms. Easy to reposition. Recommend an adult to peel them from the paper so the lightsabers don't get torn off as that part of the sticker is skinny. RoomMates RMK1382SCS Star Wars: the Clone Wars Glow in the Dark Wall Decals
My six year old son loved these appliques. We first used them as decorations for his birthday party and then moved them to his bedroom. They are a great size, not too small and have a good variety of characters. The material is stronger than some I have purchased in the past and do not easily rip when repositioning them.
This package contains four pages of wall decals. The smallest is about 3 inches while the largest is approximately ten inches. There's about 28 decals total. They take a few minutes to put up and are an easy way to perk up the room of a young stars fan. The glow in the dark effect didn't work for us, but my five year old was thrilled regardless.
We purchased these for my son's room and were very happy with the end result. the stickers go right on the wall, requiring minimal effort ("installation"). they seem to hold up well, i even re-positioned them a few times. We have very light color walls and the end result looks great.. do keep in mind that if you're buying other, larger characters (which are also great), that there'll be a LOT of stickers; but we're still very happy with the purchase.
My 6-year-old loves these decals. He can put them anywhere he wants, and rearrange them from time to time. They stick well and look great.
The reason they get four stars is because the glow in the dark feature is very weak, even with deliberate efforts to shine light on them for an hour before lights-out.
Even though they don't glow very well, I am happy with these decals and as my kids' tastes change, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more versions or characters of these decals again. At about $10, they are a good value and an easy way to change the look of their rooms.
Purchased for my 4 year old nephew, he loved them and they were so easy to move and restick when he changed his mind about where he wanted them :-) Only thing I would complain about is that the glow in the dark feature is a bit weak. The glow is not very bright, almost non-noticable.
Our son loves these wall stickers. He's built a big batter scene with them around a larger Yoda sticker. Things he likes:
there are about 15-20 stickers of characters and ships he recognized
there are 8-10 of the stickers with glow in the dark light sabers
And I like that they were easy to stick to the wall and are staying stuck right
Downsides:
(he didn't care but I felt a little cheater) there are only about 15-20 character and ship stickers, even though the description states 28. The remaining stickers are stylized text that says "star wars" or "jedi knight" and some other odd logos. I'm sure the count is correct, but I think most kids would ike this more if all the stickers were something actually from the movies or games.
Only the light sabers glow in the dark. So only 8-10 of the stickers glow.
These look realy cool in my bedroom. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the Clone Wars TV series. Well worth the price and the wait. The wall decals are:
Anakin Skywalker
Ahsoka Tano
Obi-Wan Kenobi
General Grievous
Asajj Ventress
Cad Bane
Yoda in battle
Yoda with his cane
Mace Windu
C-3P0
R2-D2
Captain Rex
Clone Trooper
A bunch of logos
Y-wing fighter
Anakin's Jedi starfighter
Obi-wan's Jedi starfihter
Note: On the title picture it shows Obi-Wan as having a logo on his head. Just so you don't worry, that is not accurate. - Star Wars - Wall Stickers - Wall Decor - Yoda'

Woodworking - safety, safety glasses
These glasses are pretty nice. Light weight. I only have a few quibbles...
They are NOT clear. The indoor/outdoor ones are slightly mirrored which is not OK with my employer (must be clear). But so far they haven't made me get new ones.
The hinge on one side is very tight. I worry that it may not last long because of this. Dewalt DPG54-9C Protector Indoor/Outdoor High Performance Lightweight Protective Safety Glasses with Wraparound Frame
If you're into construction, technician work and you're in need of safety glasses this is it! Very Light in weight, comfortable around the ears, and clear vision for you to work all day. This is my first purchase and I love it very stylish sometimes i even forget that I'm wearing them :) I highly suggest these for anyone interested in Safety glasses.
These safety glasses fit very well, and do the job. I usually use 140mm glasses (width), and these fit very well. I found them because they were recommended for folks with larger faces or heads.
No scratches, as the one reviewer complained. Seem to be of good quality.
I've ordered two of these and both came with lenses scratched on sides.
Too shiny for my taste (supposed to look chic?).
Good thing these glasses are light, wrap around your head well and stay there.
If only these lenses were in better shape... - Dust - Safety Glasses - Dewalt - Safety'
