Energy Monitor - energy savings, energy monitor

Amazing how much you can find out about your appliances with this. I had no idea my chandelier was burning 300 Watts 8 hours a day; that makes it worth going to LED bulbs. I can see the 6KW my air conditioner takes when it kicks in, so I'm using fans when the outside temp drops below the inside temp -- and my lovely wife understands!! A home water cooler was burning 60 Watts night and day, now it's on a remotely controlled power strip. I also found out that putting a non-dimmable CFL on a dimmer ages it quickly, and can make them take up to 3x their rated power before they burn out. Graphing the realtime output takes external software and my favorite one ( at [...]) takes linux, bash, networking and perl skills to get to working, but you don't need any of that to start finding out what influences your electric bill. Home Energy Saving Monitor ENVI-CC128 Complete Unit with Transmitter

The Envi was easy to set up.

It works well - understand it calculates your usage using the current that the CT Clamps are measuring so it is not 100% accurate - My calculations have it within about 3-5 % however which is close enough to get a idea of what you are using and wasting energy on.

Google Power Meter is OK - it is not the best however.

Do a GOOGLE search for VSPE Virtual Serial Port Emulator. This will let let you clone the output so that you can use more than one piece of tracking software.

I use Google Power Meter and the ENVI Techtoniq Monitor. Both use less than 3% of my CPU on an ATOM Based NetTop.

The Techtoniq software has better graphs. I am still trying out others but so far it looks like it is just about the best.

Later and Good Luck.

The product allows us to see our energy usage continuously. We can tell when electrical applications are running or when lights are on without having to walk through the house to check everything. Having this product has made us very aware of the many ways we had been wasting energy, and so now we've started turning things off and using electricity at cheaper times of the day. We've already cut our usage and our energy bill.

- Great product and fairly easy to install. I'm assuming the watts measurement is accurate but I don't have any way to verify that. I purchased the device to monitor watts, Not for its ability to calculate costs so I can't comment on that, the dollars and cents don't really mean much to me. I'm interested in power consumption, So I Love the precision of this device, it measures down to the watt if consumption is under 1000 watts, down to 10 watts if consumption is over 1000 watts.

- I tried one of the Blue Line Power Cost monitors before I bought this one, if you are also considering the Blue Line I would suggest Not. The blue-line only measures down to the 100 watt level so thats basically useless in my opinion, many devices draw less that 100 watts so the blue-line won't give any useful data on them. I also found the blue-line to be considerably inaccurate. I compared the reading on the blue-line to manually reading the meter over a 2 week period, and the blue-line was off by over 25%.

- Anyways, in the end I highly recommend this ENVI-CC128 Home Energy Monitor.

The box contains the display unit with power cord, two clamp-on style current transformers (CT), one transmitter and product manual. I sync'd the receiver with the transmitter per the instructions and the unit worked immediately. I opened up my breaker panel in the garage and connected the the CT's to the each of the 120v lines coming to the panel and sat the transmitter in the bottom of the panel while I went inside to ensure that I still had a good connection; I did. I replaced the panel on the breaker box and still had good communication. The manual states that the signal would be good up to 100 ft and that you should take off 10' for every wall that is between the transmitter and the display unit. My transmitter and display are about 20 ft apart on a straight line distance and separated by about three walls (hard to tell since it goes through the garage wall and hits the corner of a bedroom and the kitchen and there are applicance in between.) The entire hook-up took approximately 15 minutes. I don't know how accurate the unit is since I don't have anything to compare against except the meter outside. My power company charges different rates for different levels of KW usage, so I calcualted my average KWh rate from last months bill and put that into the unit. I knew that my AC compressor was a large load, but did not realize just how large it was. Another item that is an energy hog is the electic oven; I was shocked at just how much power it actually used. I have only had the unit for half a day, but so far it is working fine and I have something that allows me to monitor my power usage.

Another good feature about this unit is that you can monitor up to ten different loads on one display unit if you purchase separate transmitter/CT assembly. This would allow you to monitor your whole house usage and ten different single loads such as your AC unit, water heater, dryer, etc...) The problem would be finding enough room in your breaker panel to put all of the transmitters. I could probably squeeze in one more transmitte but doubt I'll do it.

So far, I am very pleased with the purchase based on price, working immediately and ease of use. - Energy Savings - Energy Monitor - Power Meter - Conservation'

Lithium-ion - 18v, lithium-ion

This battery does not work in the portable vacumn cleaner, battery does not fit correctly due to the design of the plastic end plug. Different than the old metal hydride battery. Works great in the rechargeable drill and reciprocating saw, small half the size of regular battery and light weight. DeWalt DC9181 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Battery Pack

The DC9181 was cheaper than the other Lithium battery DC9180. The DC9181 only has 1.1 amp hour run time and the DC9180 has 2.4 amp hour run time just like the ni-cads. The DC9180 is lighter than the ni-cads and not much more money than the DC9181 and has twice the run time.

After receiving the battery, I was very enthused about using it. It appears about half the weight of standard Lith-Ion battery, and makes for a nice feel in my impact driver. I was a little disappointed with the run time, maybe about half the standard time, but I still like it's compactness and light weight. What else would you expect for half the battery! Besides, I have 2 standard batteries if I need extended running time!

I bought this battery to supplement my regular 18 volt batteries that have some memory issues and to speed up the recharge time between change outs. This one does recharge in about half the time but does not seem to run my saws quite as long as the regular 18 volt XRP did, so it seems to have a little less go time. Another thing this battery does not do is give you a clue when the charge is depleted, it just stops cutting or running the tool. I tend to run my tools pretty hard and usually need some fully charged back-ups standing by.

I generally am happy with my DeWalt tools and liked the idea of trying out this Lithium-Ion, no memory recharging in half an hour vs. one hours time, however I would rate it as 4 stars simply due to what I consider reduced run time. For longer working time I will probably pay more for the full size battery next time.

I recieved my package in a very punctual manner (faster then expected) it was in good condition and the product was exactly what I order. Works with my combo kit, DCK266L, it's exactly the same as the batteries that come in that kit. Much cheaper to buy this online then in store. Happy customer here. - 18v - Lithium-ion'

Occupational - safety, ih

I used an earlier edition of this book in graduate school and now used this book in my studies for the CIH exam. Great overview, written in plain language. Some calculation information is also included. Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene, Fifth Edition

As stated by others, this is an excellent reference book/ tool for practicing safety and industrial hygiene professionals. I was fortunate enough to have both authors as instructors for a continuing education course in IH. I also used this book to successfully prepare for, and pass, both the ASP and CSP exams the first time around.

As an industrial hygienist without an undergraduate degree in the field, this book has been so valuable to me that I wish I could send it back in time to myself years ago. From the second I started reading it, I knew it was going to be the kind of book that I was going to go back to over and over, for technical reference.

This book is approachable to the novice IH, but also contains detail suitable for practicing professionals. It covers material with survey breadth and also sufficient depth for clear understanding.

The real value in this book, however, is that it's essentially two products in one: a primer for contact with the current material, and a coverage of the existing state of practice. It has everything I could think should be contained, and more. It's obvious the authors were, in a single word, exhaustive. In a technical field, that's laudable.

Images of particularly difficult to explain apparatus are included, which is very helpful.

Hopefully 6th edition contains a better index and more exhaustive glossary, which would aid in making sense of the topical areas that overlap between each of the chapters, much of which does not make sense to consolidate. Better OSHA notations would also be useful, as the book is written explicitly for American practitioners, or those who follow an analogous standard. Finally, a .pdf version of the book on an attached CD, for text search purposes, would be awesome.

However, none of these suggested improvements significantly detract from the *outstanding* quality and value of this book. If you're considering purchasing this book, be assured that it will improve your practice and professional development. If you're already a Certified Industrial Hygienist, then you're probably already aware of how great this book is.

Thanks to Barbara and Patricia for a real, tangible contribution to our profession.

17 Sep 2011

I used this book for an online class. It is a good book, full of information, which is to be expected having 900+ pages! I started doing some work in industrial hygiene (IH) at work, so this helps me understand the basics as well.

What could be better is the pictures! Many are really OLD school (1960's and 70's). You think after all this time, they could get more up to date ones! More importantly, the QUALITY of some picture could be better. Still this is a good guild for IH and students alike.

The book is very thorough and makes a good field technical manual, but is very hard to read, in the sense that it is a dry, textbook-type, regulation-similar read. I would not read it if I didn't have to and as a desk manual it's not quite as good as just a OSHA guide. So, not bad, okay, read because I have to, but not a choice book.

The book arrived within a week and in the condition described. I needed it for a class and timing was important. It was well packaged/no damage. I appreciated having access to the sender's e-mail from the point of order confirmation and his message to me regarding sending/arrival time. I would order from this seller again.

Relief From Low Back Pain

I am a 62 year old male and have been using Spine-Worx for years, since back when it was called Spine Align. Not only does it help to maintain my spine in alignment between chiropractic adjustments, I find that I don't need to see the chiropractor anywhere nearly as often as I once did. In fact, I haven't been to my chiropractor for months, and I used to go at least once a week. By using Spine-Worx, I've stopped chest pains, numbness in my fingers, headaches, pain in my hip from an on-the-job injury, pain in my knee and ankle, and there are probably others that I can't think of right now. Anything that a chiropractor is helpful for regarding the spine, this device can provide assistance. (It will not rotate the ilia; it only helps the spinal vertebrae.) While it can't diagnose an individual's particular problem as a chiropractor can (such as a rotated ilium), it gives general assistance to every vertebra in the back. While it has been said that it cannot adjust the neck (cervical spine), in adjusting the rest of the spine, it helps in getting the neck to straighten itself out. In addition, I've found that, when I've already gotten movement to the other parts of my spine, by raising my hips and lower back off the Spine Worx while keeping my shoulders and neck on the Spine Worx, I have indeed gotten my neck to pop back into alignment. The more time I spend on it, the better the results I get. I can't say enough for this item.

If you are accustomed to chiropractic care, you should not have any trouble with this. If you've never had your spine aligned, you might be in for a surprise when your vertebra pops back in line. Also, the longer your spine has been misaligned, the more discomfort you may feel as the device straightens your spine out to be as it was meant to be. For these times, I recommend using the Spine Worx after a hot shower or hot bath so the muscles will be most relaxed and not tight, in hopes that they won't be tight and try to pull the vertebra back out of alignment again. Discomfort might be the sensation of pulling along the spine of the muscles that are attached to the individual vertebra that is suddenly in a new position, and related sensations. I feel that, if you stick with it, using it the recommended 15 minutes per day, you will feel better and have better health.

In any case, it's certainly worth a try. I have three of them, one for the car (I get extra pressure by pushing against the steering wheel for adjusting the thorax), one for the house, and a spare in case something happens to the others: I don't ever want to be without my Spine-Worx! Spine-Worx Back Realignment Device

I'm almost 50yo with lower back pain. The pain is caused by slight misalignment, compression, and pinched nerves (standard lower back pain). Care must be exercised to place the spinal column in the correct position. If you get the spine aligned properly, you then must find a way to force your muscles to relax and allow the device to do it's job. This is uncomfortable at first so that makes it harder to relax the muscles. Once the muscles finally relaxed, I could feel the spine realigning and it felt good. I rated 4 stars primarily dues to the difficulty in centering the spine on it although, in all fairness, I don't know how they could have designed it differently. Bottom line: If the dog ate it, I'd buy another.

Mark H

I ordered this out of desperation after a slipped disc kept me bent over and in constant pain for two weeks. I have too high a deductible to run to the doctor for everything so this was my last chance before undergoing expensive tests and treatment. It worked like a charm and got my spine back in alignment. I felt a few pops and then relief. I find 6 or 8 minutes all that is needed and only when I feel back strain. I did not experience anything negative and had no trouble at all finding the right position. The Spine Worx comes with explicit instructions on how to align yourself and the proper way to get up after treatment. I can see where there could be trouble if you fail to follow these instructions. I used this in combination with the Homedic's Shiatsu massage chair and have been completely pain free for about two months now. This was pain muscle relaxers and pain killers couldn't touch!! I highly recommend this product if you are willing to follow the recommended guidelines.

As a 50 y/o male who has suffered from back pain since a teen, I know how back related issues discount our quality of life. I have been and I remain a Chiropractic patient but found the time & expense needed for relief long and pricy, so I thought I'd try the Spine-Worx Back Realignment Device and am delighted with the results!

I use my Spine-Worx Device daily and three to five times on the weekend.

My back is "S" shaped (from left to right) and with the Spine-Worx, I get closer to an "I" with every treatment.

Word of advice; there will be discomfort, especially when you first begin. Follow the directions exactly and if desired, place a soft, fluffy, lush folded towel over the device and reduce the recommended time. Then, as comfort allows, gradualy, shorten your towels thickness and stretch your time.

Listen to relaxing, meditative music, permit your body to release all tension. Then, when your time is complete, be quiet, be gentle and proceed slowly getting up. This allows your muscles to become acquainted to its new, invigorated position.

I highly recommend this product and wish I would have used it long before now.

I am back on Amazon tonight to order another one of these for my husband so we don't fight over the one we have! I was having severe hip/back spasms since last August and trips to two different chiropractors weren't helping, so I ordered this thinking perhaps it is worth a try since I was getting desperate having a 16 month old toddler to lift, etc. The day this arrived my back gave out and I dropped to my knees. I have no idea why, I was only standing still, but it aggrivated my herniated disk. With this combined with the hip spasms I couldn't put any weight on my right hip at all and started using an old pair of crutches, but even that was painful. It was a true godsend that this came when it did. The next day I decided I would try this device even though I thought it could make things worse, but I knew as it was I could barely move and so to me it was worth any possible risk. So I tried it. A few disks moved in my mid back immediately. I only was on it a few seconds because the muscles in my low back certainly weren't going to relax much just then. But with only those few seconds when I got back up I was amazed that I could bear weight on my right hip. Cool! A couple hours later I spent a few more seconds on this device and again about every couple hours through the day. By 3:00 pm I was walking without the crutches (originally tried it at 10 am) and by 5pm I was picking up and carrying my 23lb toddler!! I could hardly believe it. I had been in so much pain for so many months. It still was sore, but not painful. It took a few days for the muscle soreness to go away, but the spasms stopped and my herniated disk stopped bothering. I can still hardly believe it. It took about a week for me to be able to lay all the way down on it and sometimes it takes some time now for my back to fully relax, but now whenever I get a spasm and can't stand up straight I just use this for a minute or so and I can move without pain again. Maybe this just works really well with my particular problem (not sure what that is, but I have a rotated hip that is finally starting to resolve with doing Egoscue e-cises too - see the book Pain Free or Pain Free for Women by Pete Egoscue for details -- really awsome books!), but I just know it has done absolute wonders for me. My husband loves it too and uses it every day. Before I had to hire someone to come in and help me take care of my baby because of my back and now that isn't an issue. It is wonderful! I would recommend if your back hurts when getting on this to only use it for a few seconds at first. I still don't use it for more than a minute because I don't feel my back is ready for more yet. And be careful to get up the way they recommend (rolling to your side, waiting, moving up to your knees, waiting, then get up). It seems to just be made of rubber and plastic, but to me it is invaluable. My many thanks to the man who developed it and the people who make and sell it.'

Narrow Crown Stapler - cpo bostitch, staplers

I ordered the SX5035-12 which is a 7/32" Crown x 1/2" Leg staple. However, when I received the package from Amazon the label stated that it was a 5/8" leg but had the same model number as the 1/2." Initially, I failed to measure the staple and sent it back to Amazon. Amazon quickly sent me another box, which had the same labeling issue. I measured the staple and it is a 1/2" staple. I called B&C and they were very nice and apologetic and stated that they are going to fix the label. Just be forewarned about this problem and measure your staples because there maybe a lot of stock still out there with incorrect labels. B & C Eagle SX5035-1/2 1/2-Inch by 18 Guage by 7/32-Inch Medium Crown Finish Staple (5,000 per box)

These are great staples. I haven't had any problems with them. I went through at least 3000 of them in the past couple days securing carpet to a cat tree. They are the perfect size for that. Will buy again when I need more. - Finish Staplers - Staplers - Bostitch - Cpo Bostitch'

Rechargeable Batteries - airsoft, charger

i ordered the 2 tenergy 9.6v 4200mah hump back batteries for my rustler then also ordered this charger

it came early, works perfectly, pure brainless and it charges these packs in about three hours,i think...i let 1 pack

charge over night, not on purpose, just foregot.no worries though the charger will not over charge the batteries.

go ahead, don't be shy, proceed to the checkout!!! Tenergy Smart Universal Charger for NiMH / NiCd Battery pack 7.2V - 12V with charging current Selection/Temperature Sensor

The charger works flawless. Charged my dead 1500mah battery in a little over an hour on the .9amps setting. you can even charge the mini type batteries on the 1.8amp setting for an even faster charge! Yes thats about 1800 mah per hour thats about a 30 min charge. Even charged my brothers Ni-Cd R/C battery within a hour.

We bought this charger as a replacement for another charger that was really overheating out batteries. We run a Traxxis Rustler this charger is a great asset to our fun.

It comes with several adapters so all you have to do is plug and play. Charging seemed quick enough and the batter never once felt warm, or overheated, even when we forgot about it 6 hours later.

Do not hesitate on this purchase.

This Tenergy Smart/Speed charger is a life saver from a 5 hour charge to a 1 hour charge I love it. Also it will stop charging when the battery is full it has a temperature sensor so it will stop if the battery gets to hot. Plus the switch that changes the amperage an hour is extremely useful.

it works it does what it says it will do

nothing special

charges 7.2v 8.4v 9.6v 10.8 battery's

comes with a mini type connector and a large type connector

uses a temperature sensor as a fail safe if it over heats

ONLY CHARGE NiMH or NiCd battery's with this charger

it blows up LiPo's

charges battery's in about half an hour to an hour

The smart charger however is only good on the .9A. If you use the 1.8A setting it will over heat your battery even before the green light turns on. The 1.8A does give you a quick charge when you need it but I feel the battery dies twice as fast.

Like the tenergy 9.6 battery pack,

I was very satisfied with this.

I bought it for its worldwide use, because I live in Italy,

with a 220volt electric line.

In the package you can find many adapters ,

You can select two currents levels (0.9A and 1.8A),

The charger automatically detect battery pack's voltage (7.2V to 12V).

You can use it with NiMh or NiCd batteries.

Good charger at a bargain price.

Recommended. - Airsoft - Tenergy - Rechargeable Batteries - Charger'
