Canon photo paper Plus II gives me amazing results on my Canon printer.

I've tried Costco photo paper (returned it) and HP photo glossy (It's OK, but doesn't seem to give the same depth.)

Canon papers have always treated me well and I'm sticking with them! Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, 4 x 6 Inches, 100 Sheets (2311B023)

This paper produces nice photos. It's inexpensive but doesn't look or feel cheap, like some other brands I've tried. Other inexpensive paper tends to roll up around the corners, but not this paper. I use this paper with my Canon Pixma3500. The paper produces prints that look and feel like photo lab quality prints. I highly recommend this product for people with Canon printers.

I found this Canon photo copy paper consistently delivering amazing copies of my pictures. The actual paper has a little more gloss than standard glossy photo paper. The thickness of the paper is ideal for keeping your photos for years to come. I highly recommend this paper, and it's competitively priced.

This paper works very well for my photo printing needs. I've used it with my Canon PIXMA MX860 Wireless All-In-One Photo Printer, and I'm very happy with it. A few sample sheets of this kind came with my Pixma and I was impressed enough by the results to order more. I've also tried the slightly less expensive normal glossy paper, which I'm also very happy with. This "super glossy" paper is a bit more glossy, and sometimes I prefer that.

One thing I really appreciate about this paper is that while one side is glossy, the other is basically like card stock, so you can write notes on the back of photos, or you can fold your photos to use them as cards. This is good quality paper, for a very good price. I'm very happy with this, in the 4 x 6 and other sizes. It covers all of my home photo printing needs.

What can I say? Canon makes great products for photography in my book. I have a Canon camera, printer, etc. I would use no other paper than my Canon. The picture quality turns out great. Also my children have had pictures stuck on bulletin boards, laying/sitting around in the rooms, etc., for 8 years and not one picture has faded not even a little bit. Use this paper and your pictures turn out much better than if you take them some place else for developing.

I LOVE this Canon photo paper!! It's affordable, and it prints clear, high quality prints at home! I have a Canon MP610 inkjet printer, and I have had tons of fun printing and scrapbooking my life's special moments. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is interested in scrapbooking, or for those who would just like to print and keep for their photo memories...

NOW ALL YOU CAN SAY ABOUT THIS PAPER IS WOWOWOW BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS. WE USE A PIXMA IP6000D PHOTO PRINTER FROM CANON AND WITH THIS PAPER WE HAVE MADE SOME BEAUTIFUL WEDDING PHOTOS FOR SOME COUPLES IN OUR AREA. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT, AND WILL BUY IT AGAIN.

this is the only glossy paper I've seen that is perfect for notecards, since the inside is a clean matte finish, without any photo "logo."

It's not a heavy weight paper, but really is just fine for making glossy photo cards which fold over - and the image quality is great.

I have two Canon printers, including an i9900 photo printer. There is no comparison. Canon photo paper makes the best quality prints. Much better than using generic paper. The colors are more vivid and they seem to be more accurate than when I used a generic paper brand.'

Computer Accessories - cable management, computer accessories

I'm sorry to disagree with all the positive reviewers, but these were a disappointment. Maybe mine were manufactured on a day that the sticky-stuff machine was broken. These little things want to do a good job, but they just didn't stick. Not only will the sticky stuff fail if you yank on the cord, they also fail without any provocation whatsoever. I stuck one on the desk near my computer, and when I came back into the room less than 12 hours later it had lifted off the surface. The cable was keeping the clip from falling on the floor, not the other way around. These clips are mocking me; I just know it! Blue Lounge Design CableDrop Cable Management System (Muted)

So simple there is nothing to go wrong. They hold strong and i take cords in and out of them all day. Each unit holds multiple cords at one time. Elegant in its simplicity. The only reason i did not give them 5 stars is: 1 they are not reusable; 2 They come in unattractive colors. But complaining is just not major problems and is really just nitpicking. Buy them.

These are incredibly handy. We are using them in a couple of places around the house to keep charging cables handy. A couple of phone charging cables easily fit in the clip. If you are using it for cables for your laptop, you can only fit one network cable or usb cable comfortably in each. Not a big deal though as I just ziptied the 3 cables together and then only put the network cable in the clip. The sticky backs hold well and do not seem to leave any mark or residue when I moved one of them.

These simple rubber buttons, with adhesive backing, are so great. They go where you need them, I put one on my car dashboard so phone charging cabble end doesn't drop on floor when not in use. I've also mounted one on TV stand to hold headphone cable end when I'm not using headphones for late night viewing of TV (via audio cable hookup).

Just a smart, 'why didn't I think of that!' idea for a product.

One small deatail. You have to pull up on cable from plug tip end when pushing into rubber center, nips/ ends are sort of closed off too much, but means cable(s) stay put, once inside.

The CABLEDROP from Bluelounge is a great little product which fills a need in this modern world of many charger or other cables laying on our desks between uses. i purchased one set and, between my desk and my wife's desk, we used all 6 so I ordered another package. It really helped clean up the desktops. Some cables, such as USB cables to synchronize PDAs etc., which I had kept in drawers, now also hang virtually out of sight but ready for use at the side of my desk.

Norm

These are NOT Blue Lounge cable clips. They are fake, from China, in packaging from JYLP as the manufacturer, covered in Chinese characters. They didn't even bother to translate the item description properly. They reek of chemicals and the adhesive pad does not stick to the clip. Worst of all, they are FAKE. Amazon should ban this seller for misrepresenting their product and using the Blue Lounge name. Extremely disappointing.

What I received seems like a cheap knock-off. The colors weren't what's pictured, the packaging was clearly not Blue Lounge, and most importantly - they fell off after a hour (or less.) As someone else pointed out, the sticker came off the plastic clip, not the thing you were trying to stick it to, as you'd expect if the sticker were bad.

Might actually be the first thing I return to Amazon.

This product is advertised as a "cable management system", but it's really just a set of 6 flexible plastic clips for securing cables to a surface. Though they seem to work fine so far, they're hardly a *system*. They do accommodate multiple thin cables, so you can use one clip to hold a Macbook power cable and two USB cables. Each clip will hold only one network (CAT6) cable. The adhesive works fine, and I'm not concerned about it marking up my furniture.

I'd give these at least four stars except that the colors are *not* pretty. The "bright" version of this product had colors that seemed garish, so I went with "muted". The colors like nice on the website, but "in person" the white is dull, almost beige, the red color is a dull copper, and the dark color is coffee-stain brown. They're more blah than muted, like office decor from the 1970s. This is worth considering. - Cable - Organization - Computer Accessories - Cable Management'

High Definition - mic, microphone

The Audio Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone appears to be a nearly identical replacement lavalier mic from the recently discontinued Audio-Technica ATR-35S Lavalier Microphone.

Reading some blog advice about video podcasting and playing around a bit with making YouTube videos, "sound" in video is usually the part that makes video quality bad. So I was looking for a reasonably price lapel mic to use. The ATR-3350 is quite inexpensive considering that you can easily spend $200 for a professional model lapel mic.

If you read some of the "1" (hate it) reviews from the ATR-35S, they pretty much all related to "low volume issues". You may see some similar reviews here as time goes on. Plugging the ATR-3350 directly into my Dell laptop PC mic in or camera mic in, I also thought the volume is not high enough. However, plugging it into my video camera, it sounded great. Just the right volume. Not too loud or soft.

I went to the support site for ATR and asked my question on volume on my laptop PC mic in. Support on the ATR site was good. I got a quick response back on my question about volume on my laptop. The advice was "Look for MIC Boost in the Advanced Controls for microphone in the Volume Control window of Voice recording under the Voice tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties of Windows to boost the level of a microphone. (Windows XP example given.)".

I'm giving it "5" for the product considering value for the price and the support I got. I'm sure the quality does not get anywhere near professional mics with XLR inputs. Those mics are in a different class. Certainly not in this price range.

Be careful if you have a rolling chair and use this mic near your PC. The cord is thin and probably easy to make the mic "nonfunctional" if you were to roll over the cable with all your weight pinching the thin cord under a wheel. Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone

Purchased this mic in order to do interviews and video presentations and it has been excellent. Have a professional Shure wireless set up as well, but have found this to be an great alternative when I need to move quickly. It allows me to use my Sony HD handycam with a minimum of additional equipment and allows for a fast set up. Have used the mic for approximately 10 hours and the battery has not yet run out. Be sure to purchase additional button batteries when you purchase this, though. They always run out right when you don't have them on hand. L-45 batteries are really inexpensive. I purchased 50 for under $10 here on Amazon. Would definitely recommend this mic as a primary or backup mic for any prosumer set up where the subject isn't going to be moving around (interviews, training, etc.)

The Audio-Technica ATR-35S lavaliere microphone is a higher than average quality microphone. The benefits of the microphone are that the small microphone can clip onto a shirt, or tie with the provided clip. The battery compartment and on/off switch has an additional clip on it to attach to your belt, or pant waist.

The overall sound quality for the microphone is astounding considering the price, averaging at about $25, often times less. The material used to fabricate the microphone feels sturdy, and that it will last. Overall I'm extremely happy with the quality of the sound, and the microphone itself. The 20 foot cord helps when you are walking around a room, with the recorder set on a table. Granted, just be sure not to walk too far, as to not pull the recorder off the table. However, I do have a few minor complaints.

When I use this microphone with my voice recorder, I always feed the microphone through my shirt, and have my recorder in my pocket. When feeding 20 feet of cord through your shirt, it often times will get tangled, and will feel uncomfortable under your shirt. What I normally do with the extra cord is tie it off with a piece of Velcro. That way, you only have to feed a small bundle of cord through your shirt, rather than 20 feet of loose cord.

The last compliant I have is a major one, and there really isn't anything that can be done to fix it. On the battery compartment, there is no way of knowing how much battery life is left, or if it's even still working. There's only an on and off switch, that's it. Not a red light when it's on or a battery indicator. If you begin recording, you need to be sure you will have enough of a battery life to complete the recording.

There are two options to help with this, but not solve it. Either always start each session with a new battery, or record in short sessions. The battery required are the small flat batteries, used in watches, laser pointers, etc, and are inexpensive. What I recommend is to replace the battery after a day of sessions. The second option is that after each session, listen back, and make sure everything was recorded. When doing this, it's best to record shorter sessions, in case you should happen to lose anything due to the battery dying.

This is a major hassle though having to do this. I would much rather have a battery light indicator and not have to deal with this. Highly recommend that when you are looking for a microphone, either find one that doesn't require batteries, or, one that has a battery indicator. For this product, I give 3 out 5 stars. 3 stars for the sound quality, and taking of 2 for the battery issues.

I have already tested this mic out and it is perfect for my needs. I am using it with my Kodak Zi8. I use it in retail locations and at trade shows and this mic is great! It offers great sound, the long cord is very handy, good battery life and is so small and easy to stow that it just adds to the ease of use. I haven't found anything not to like about this mic. For the buyer who complained about the audio level using his Kodak Zi8... adjust the mic volume level on the settings menu of your camera before you record. Clear sound, long cord, great price. I found this mic through a blog and was happy to give him a hit by using his link. See what he has to say about it too as his test was what originally warmed me up to the idea of purchasing. Hanging File Folders

The Pendaflex files themselves are great. However, there were no tabs and inserts included in the boxes. The boxes clearly state that they are included. I had to go and buy them separately. I wondered why they were so cheap. I got my answer. Pendaflex Recycled Standard Green 1/5-Cut Tab Hanging File Folders, 25 per Pack (81602)

Picked up a pack of these, hoping they'd fit an old wall-hanging mesh container I had lying around (Somewhat similar to this: Rolodex Single Pocket Wire Mesh Wall File (21931))

The fit was perfect! It also comes with the necessary plastic tab inserts needed. The price is great if you don't mind the drab bureaucratic color.

Pendaflex is really good quality brand, and this was an OK deal. Would have like a better price, but overall we are very happy with the quality of the product.

The folders are heavy and hold up to alot of overstuffing with file folders and papers. Tabs and hangers are very rugged.

These standard sized hanging file folders represent the height of adequacy when it comes to hanging and filing. The tabs/labels are easy to use and also fully functional. I was torn between a 4 and 5 star review, ultimately opting for the 5 because the price is right and the folders were made from recycled materials. I give these folders my full recommendation for those of you who have some sort of receptacle for hanging file folders and something that needs filing.

These hanging folders do exactly what they're supposed to do. I ordered the standard green folders and received one color and my package had the inserts and tabs included. Very pleased with this order and if I need more I will not hesitate ordering these again.'

Garmin Nuvi 260 - garmin nuvi 260, garmin charger

I have bought at least 6 Garmin Nuvi's for automobiles and I always like to have the 120 Volt adapter for each. This allows you to charge in your hotel room when using the Nuvi when using it on foot as your personal assistant. I have bought three of this model as they will be used here in the USA only and are about $14.00 cheaper than the fancy one with changable plugs for Europe etc. Totally not necessary here and for about $11.00 this does the trick and it is compact and easy to take along. If you consider buying a nice Garmin unit, treat yourself to this device as you don't need to be in the car to charge it. You can practice with your unit in your living room while plugged into the wall when you do some trip planning and your battery will be right up to par when you put it in your pocket and hit the streets. Or check some locations for tomorrows travel while in your hotel room. OneOwl Rapid Wall / AC Charger for Garmin Nuvi & TomTom GPS Devices - Accessory Power Brand

I selected this product as it was one piece of equipment. It has built in adaptability(for other electric currents) without extra adapters to float around in my house as they somehow always disapppear when I need them.

I purchased this charger for my Garman Nuvi just to keep the batteries up when I don't use the Garmin for a while. I am an electronics hobbiest and opened the charger(not recommended as I imagine it would void the warranty)just to see what I'd bought. Circuitry is very nice setup and not just a cheap transformer and dc bridge like on some chargers I've seen. Nice unit.

I ordered this product because my new Garmin GPS can be used as a pedestrian as well as vehicle GPS. I wanted to keep it charged for when I'm in a major city and walking around. This item works GREAT! It not only fit my new GPS but fit my older model Garmin as well which was an added bonus! - Garmin Nuvi 260 - Garmin Charger'

External Hard Drive

I received my 1TB WD My Book AV Expander today. Here's how it went down:

Unpack, plug into back of DVR with included eSATA cable, plug WD HDD into wall outlet, turn on DVR and TV. See prompt on TV about new attached storage. Look for and find remote that kids misplaced. Then Press A on remote to format. Wait 30 seconds. Now when I press List it shows 5% Full (used to be 40%). It didn't even interrupt the current recording. No more taping over my World Cup matches. How easy is that?

So far no heat from new hard drive and it's whisper quiet. Drive also comes with a USB cable (not needed for this project as the Scientifc Atlanta 8300HD supports eSATA only for adding storage.) From WD's website this drive is on the list of supported drives for Time Warner SA8300HD but it was still a relief to see it immediately recognized. Western Digital My Book AV DVR Expander 1 TB USB 2.0/eSATA External Hard Drive

We have had a TiVo Premiere XL for about 2 months and got this pretty quickly as an accessory along with the wireless-n adapter. This 1TB HD works great and combined with the 1TB internal drive on the Premiere XL I now get 301 HD hrs/up to 2637 SD hrs (I have the SD recording quality set on highest so I actually get 447 sd hrs capacity). Installation was easy as I was used to hooking one of these external HDs up to the cable DVRs (we still haven't gotten rid of them all yet-still waiting for the "tuning adapter" just for this TiVo). The directions are on the TiVo website, but you basically unplug the TiVo, plug the HD eSATA into the TiVo, then plug in the HD and wait for it to spin up (about 20 secs), then plug the TiVo back in and the on-screen menus will take care of the rest after booting back up. No problems whatsoever with the exception of one time watching a show where there was a hiccup in the recording-not sure whether the recording was on the TiVo HD or the external HD-and rewinding to get it to play again sent the TiVo to do a reset. Only has happened once in 2 months. Very quiet, virtually no HD noise (you can hear spinning if you stick your ear up to it). Looks pretty nice with the single pin dot although you can just as easily hide it behind components if you want.

I was a little hesitant because I have had mixed success with WD externals. One, a 2GB My Book Studio II works great as my main backup with firewire on a Windows 7 x64 PC. Another, an older WD My Book 500gb had lots of issues with the controller card inside and eventually it failed-but I cracked it open (literally because this version at least was not user serviceable) and was able to remove the 500gb HD and put it into an Antec external enclosure and now it works great as a media (audio/video files) drive.

I bought this unit to expand the memory capacity of my Tivo HD unit. My journey started with a chat with Tivo technical support where they informed me that this DVR expander is the only unit they recommend as compatible with Tivo equipment. Placed the order at Amazon and got the unit the next day. Followed the instructions step by step and my Tivo froze. Called Tivo (twice), with no luck in resolving the issue. Called Western Digital: very nice staff but no help either. Got a call back from Western Digital the next day and they said that my Tivo required a firmware update. Called Tivo, no such thing, as my firmware was up to date. Then, I went back to the Amazon website and found from a reviewer (whom I am now very grateful for his comments), that he managed to make this unit work by replacing the ESata cable that comes with the unit with another one. Short drive to Radio Shack and $10 bucks later, Voila! the unit was working perfectly after a short 15 minutes set-up time. On the positive side, this expander is very quiet, with almost no heat generation and so far and no issues with the quality of the recording.

Connection is about a 5-minute job, but initial boot-up takes awhile. Western Digital instructions are incomplete and fairly useless--just diagrams.

Unplug the Tivo power cord. Connect the SATA cable between WD Expander and Tivo. Power on Expander (check for white light in front). Plug in the Tivo power cord. Go to Settings menu on Tivo, then External Storage, then Add. Then, BE PATIENT! It took my unit about 25 minutes to boot and reconfigure everything. A couple of times I thought something might be wrong but I continued to wait and it finally completed and worked. You can also find instruction on Tivo's Web site. These are basically the same as given here.

The Expander box only shows compatibility with Tivo Series 3 and Premiere. But, that is wrong. I suspect that reviewers who say it does not work with a Tivo HD unit had a defective unit or cable, powered off and on in the wrong sequence, or were impatient and bailed out while the Tivo was still reconfiguring during the initial boot-up.

I bought from a local Best Buy store. Their price is too high ($150). But, I wanted the convenience of easy return in case the reviews saying the Expander would not work with a Tivo HD were correct.

I hope this helps anyone with a Tivo HD that is considering the WD My Book AV DVR Expander.'

Asian American Literature - rebecca schall, hawaiian history

Arnold Genthe was a German doctor of philosophy who arrived in San Francisco in 1895. He was fascinated by the Chinese and used his skill as an amatuer photographer to take over 200 photos of Chinatown's "Tangrenbu" section. These are valuable photographs as they depict Chinatown as it existed before the 1906 earthquake. Tangrenbu was the home of thousands of Chinese who were forced to live in this area due to de facto segregation and deep seated prejudice by San Franciscans. The Chinese were clannish and left few written records of their lives. The 1906 disaster destroyed whatever documents which may have existed so Genthe's pictures assume an importance beyond the mere fact of depicting persons and scenes. Chinese had been living in San Francisco as early as 1838, a full ten years before gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill. Between 1838 and 1849, Chinese were men of means, generally merchants, and few in number. As San Francisco boomed with gold seekers, the city experienced a continuing shortage of workers who were needed to lay roadways, reclaim swampy land, make boots and shoes, and to perform hundreds of other tasks. Native Americans wouldn't cooperate and Mexican-Americans were investing their time in gold mining. The solution was Chinese laborers as they had been used profitably on British colonial plantations in South America and the West Indies. Chinese merchants were employed as middlemen in the process of supplying the laborers. In a span of 30 years, hundreds of thousands of Chinese were lured onto British, American, and other western ships for the long trip across the Pacific Ocean. Conditions on these ships were often worse than on those of the African slave trade. The mortality rate ranged as high as 40%. During the 1850s and 1860s, 80% of the Chinese in California were spread throughout the mining areas. They were principally used in large company owned mines and had little hope of holding personal mining claims. They were disliked by most independent miners because of their race and their association with the large mining interests. The Chinese miners were also subject to the Foreign Miner's Tax. As primary contributors, they accounted for 50% of California's entire state revenues from 1850 to 1870.After the decline of mining, the building of railroads became the focus of merchant interests. Irish immigrants were hired by the Central Pacific (CP) to start construction near Sacramento but many refused the debilitating work of carving a few feet of granite daily from the Sierra Nevada mountain range. In 1865, the CP hired 50 Chinese laborers on a trial basis and told them to carve a road through the mountains.Pleased with the results, 10,000 Chinese were hired within 3 years and drove roadbeds through and over the mountain ranges. In the severe winter of 1866, Chinese crews worked and lived underneath the snow. Avalanches were frequent and buried many Chinese workers. Two of them were found dead, buried under 50 feet of snow with shovels in their hands. An 1870 news article reported the shipment of 10 tons of bones, representing 1200 Chinese railroad workers being sent to China for burial. Chinese were into other areas of work including sewing, shoe shops, etc. By 1870, they formed one-fourth of the state's employed but only one-twelth of its population.Discriminatory laws were passed against the Chinese including exclusion acts, Chinese children were denied access to public schools and their parents were not allowed the rights granted to U. S. citizens. Tangrenbu or "Little China" ceased to exist after the 1906 earthquake. This proved fortuitous as all immigration records were destroyed making it impossible to determine which Chinese were in the United States illegally. For these newly created citizens, America now became a home instead of a prison. This book contains 130 of the 200 Tangrenbu photographs in existence. Many of them have never been shown and a viewing makes it clear Genthe was enchanted with the innocence of children. He tended to take photos of special occasions in Chinatown, thus the ornate costuming in many of the prints. While Genthe did retouch some photos and erase objects from others, this does not detract from his body of work despite some fault finding by John Wei Tchen.Genthe's photos are rich with the visual details of a bustling street life and of the affection shown by the Chinese for their families. This book provides a glimpse into a time and place long past and focuses a reader's attention on the plight of a unique people. After destruction of Old Chinatown, the Chinese embraced the 20th century. Occidental ways, dress, and customs transformed Little China from a forbidden section into a San Francisco tourist attraction. This book lacks an index and one is sorely needed. Wei Tchen's extensive text adds enjoyment to the photgraphs as he illuminates each picture with revealing and fascinating comments. He has supplied chapter notes and these are very informative. The bibliography is limited and focuses on Genthe's volume of work and 19th century photography. This books does an excellent job of stressing the importance of the Chinese people to the present day eminence of California and to the western states of America.
