Kitchen Faucet By Moen - delta, pull down faucets
My wife and I selected the Price Pfister Hanover faucet during a kitchen upgrade due to its price and the quality of material used in its price range. It was the cheapest faucet with a faucet sprayer that also had a metal-handled soap dispenser. It looked aesthetically pleasing and contained the added feature of controlling the sprayer water flow rate, which we liked. The faucet can flip from a stream of water to a spray with the push of a button and the spray flow rate can be adjusted by a slide control on the sprayer.
The faucet kit contains the faucet, a soap dispenser with 16oz plastic container, and all associated hardware to mount the faucet to a single- or multi-hole sink. A plate is provided to cover the extra holes for a multi-hole installation. For a single-hole install, a collar and nut are provided to affix the faucet to the sink without the use of the plate.
The last reviewer remarked about the faucet moving on its own. I think what he means is, if you position the faucet in the center and let go, it slowly swings to the left or right. We also experienced this and were able to correct it. The problem originated with the spray hose, which drops down under the sink into the cabinet below. During the assembly, you place a donut-shaped weight over the hose under the cabinet, which pulls the hose and retracts the sprayer assembly back into the faucet housing. In our case, the hose was becoming obstructed by the water supply lines under the sink, which impeded its ability to maintain its position. So, if we placed the faucet in the center, the hose under the counter would position itself in an area where it become obstructed by the supply lines. This caused the hose to revert back to a different position, which moved the faucet. We repositioned the flex supply lines, which provided enough free area for the hose to swing where it needed to with no obstruction and we no longer had a problem.
The reason for the less than five-star rating is due to quality control. When we went to install our faucet, we found the mounting nut and washer were threaded on the faucet assembly, which isn't a problem normally. During installation, the nut and washer are removed and the faucet is placed on the sink, then the nut and washer are used to secure the faucet to the sink. The cold and hot water supply lines extend down from the faucet so the nut and washer can be removed. The sprayer hose also extends down the same hole as the supply lines. The problem we ran into was that they didn't extend the hot water fitting down lower than the cold water fitting. The hot water fitting needs to be a few inches below the cold water fitting to enable the sprayer hose and lines to compress together tight enough to allow removal of the nut and washer. For us, it was almost impossible to remove the nut and washer. I spent upwards of thirty minutes trying to figure out how to remove the nut and washer and learned if I compressed the spray hose and positioned the first threaded supply fitting in just the right spot, I can literally thread the nut off all the lines. It's hard to describe, but the message here is, be sure to check your faucet to ensure you're able to remove this washer and nut. This is a Price Pfister quality control issue that hopefully is just an isolated incident.
Another situation we dealt with was something we failed to take it into consideration. We use a portable dishwasher. This faucet assembly does not support the use of a portable dishwasher. Price Pfister doesn't offer a replacement aerator that will accommodate the ability to affix a portable dishwasher unicoupler (the piece you connect from the dishwasher to the faucet). If you want to upgrade to this faucet and you have a portable dishwasher, you're going to have to decide how to provide a hot water and waste line to your portable dishwasher. You won't be able to do so using this faucet.
As for installation, excluding the washer and nut problem, it was very straight forward and all fittings assembled and operated with no leaks or flaws. We're generally happy with our purchase and would cautiously recommend this faucet with a warning in regard to quality control. Double-check the faucet and all supplied components prior to installation. Pfister F5297TMS Hanover High-Arc Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet, Stainless Steel
I bought this faucet in January of 2008 when we redid our kitchen. I'm an intermediate DIY'er and had no issues installing it, in fact I think it took me less than 30 minutes (good given the fact that I'd never done one before). Unlike other people's reviews I've never had a problem with the faucet not retreating back into the handle. A couple of times I guess there was a little gap but that was due to things under the counter not allowing the hose to drop down all the way (like another reviewer explained). I will admit the soap dispenser is not the best but I've found that if you dilute the soap with a little water you get less leakage after you pump. To me it's not that big of a deal. The plastic dispenser for the soap broke one time but a call to Price Pfister got a new one shipped out to me for free, their customer service is excellent. I feel like the price is very affordable, you have the look of a high end fixture for a reasonable cost and after 3 years mine looks better than similarly aged, more expensive fixtures I've seen, probably because I take care of it and don't allow any kind of buildup. I love it so much that I bought a new one to go in our new house we just bought.
Great faucet that looks exceptional! Price Pfister is great and they replaced a part that I damaged during installation with no questions asked and no charge, and it arrived within a few days. It's nice to see a company that stands by it's products and will replace any item that is damaged or defective without requiring proof of receipt / sending it back / etc.
I love this faucet and I've had many compliments on it already! - Delta - Pull Down Faucets - Single Handle - Kitchen Faucet'
