I have owned a set of Trudeau mills before and they were brilliant, very sturdy and with a good mechanism inside which was the reason I chose to go with them again.
I was very disappointed with these ones as they feel very cheap and the the grinding mechanism was useless.
I takes forever to season anything as almost no pepper comes out, and when you loosen the top nut to allow for a more coarse grind it makes absolutely no difference.
Won't be buying and Trudeau products again after this purchase! Trudeau Pepper Mill and Salt Shaker Set
I was quite pleasantly surprised. I had been looking at Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, Home Goods (EVERYWHERE!!) and I could not find a set of these for under 20 bucks, and I don't believe any of those came with the salt and pepper already in it!
These are so nice and lightweight, look great in my kitchen :)
I'm pretty pleased with my purchase.
Now, I've only had them for about a week... So if it breaks in another week, I'll be sure to leave more feedback :)
As someone who has broken dozens of pepper mills, I am so far happy with this purchase. It feels sturdy in the hands and is easy to grind. The salt shaker comes out a bit fast, and my kids have sometimes forgotten that they don't need to grind it as they do with the pepper.
The salt container is great...the salt comes out easily. The pepper, though, is a pain. It constantly lets all the loose bits out underneath. I'm forced to put a napkin under them on the counter and have to dump the loose pepper particles every few days.
I wanted a clear container so I could see when to refill, but I think the search will continue when I've had enough of leaking pepper all over my counter.
I have ordered these twice. I have sent them back as there scratches around the entire mill and shaker. Apparently the manufacturer does not package correctly or inspect when they are packaged. the scratches were in the same place both time. Although Amazon pays for the return, it is annoying to have the same thing wrong the second time

-could grind pepper faster.. it can take awhile to grind enough if you need it for cooking

Overall, these are a good deal considering they are only 16+ dollars. However, I think next time I would spend the extra 10-15 bucks to get a better set.
This set looks nice; I keep it out on my kitchen table at all times. It is durable; used in a home with children and they have not broken yet. Overall a great product for the price! I would definitely buy these!
Pros:Look very sleek and stylish. Grinder is great. They come prefilled. Pepper is fresh.
Cons: the packaging it comes in allows the shakers to spin around and touch during shipment causing scratches on the widest part. Not super noticeable but just annoying to open something that's like that. -1 star for that.
bottom line: great deal for the price.'
