Automatic Movement - skeleton automatic, skeleton watch

Received this watch as a gift, bit of a skeleton watch fan. I have an Invicta Skeleton and it never kept time accurately, the hour and minute hands never lined up at 12:00, etc. This is everything the more expensive Invicta should have been.

I've gotten numerous nice comments on it from coworkers, and it's my favorite daily wear watch at the moment. If you like the look, you can't go wrong with this one.

I've had it for a little over 5 months now, and the only instance where I've needed to reset the time were the ones where I let it unwind after a few days of not wearing it. Keeps time as well as a quartz (from my inattentive perception, anyway), but looks a lot sexier.

Note: This watch, while not a delicate flower, isn't some mil-spec monster that can take being run over by a tank without a scratch. I've been a bit too inattentive at times in rough environments and put a few scratches and scrapes in the metal. So don't go around scraping it against rough concrete walls and you'll be good. The picture does not do justice for this watch. The quality is very high for a watch of this price and being an automatic, you don't need to replace the batteries... ever. The face is a little larger than I expected but it looks very classy. The time is easy to tell despite the "busy" skeleton face. I am really happy with this purchase and will wear this one often.

Size and Shape:

The diameter is 1.5", which is large, but not horrible if your wrists are big. The bigger problem was how tall the case is; it sticks up very far from your wrist and interferes with sleeves, putting on jackets, and cuffs of shirts. Also, the watch mechanical parts only extend about 1" in diameter, then the see-through ring around the edge (you will see your skin through it) is just extra space to make the watch face bigger, and doesn't house any parts.

Defective Movement:

When I first got the watch, it worked fine and did 4 ticks of the second hand per second. This is a nice feature, since you can watch the gears / parts swing back and forth twice for each second, and the second hand itself appears to be a continuous-drive one, since the 1/4-second ticks are small. After only about 2-3 days, problems with the second hand started developing, and it would stutter or "hang" at several points in each 1-minute revolution. There are videos of this online, since other Kenneth Cole watches use the same cheap movement. It seemed to catch up, but it was irritating that the second hand would pause for 3-6 ticks (about 0.5 to 1.5 seconds), then "jump" to catch up. To summarize, the second hand movement is cheap and broke almost instantly.

Summary:

I ended up returning this watch. The leather strap is very nice and comfortable, but the watch is too big and the second-hand movement was defective.

The photos does not do this watch any justice. You just got to see it in real. Brilliant and beautiful watch. The moment I got it, I was appreciating it already. It's China movement though and not japanese movement but the beauty of it makes up for it. Will definitely wear it for functions and dinner. This watch also made me wanting to get a watch winder because it's automatic.

I've received many compliments while wearing this watch. Leather strap and skeleton design makes this watch look classy and modern at the same time. Glow in the dark hands and some gear is a nice addition to this watch. The price is definitely a huge plus. This watch is little on a bigger side, and might not look as good on skinny guy.

I got this watch for a good friend of mine as a Birthday gift.. Just received it today.. what can I say.. IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING! Very strong built, genuine leather strap, big face big dials.. & the Classy Look. Almost made me change my mind about giving it away as a gift.. haha.. I'm definitely getting myself one. If you like watches, especially leather strapped.. you need to get this. Truly a masterpiece from Kenneth Cole, and for the Unbeatable price.. you cant go wrong ;o)

There is no question that when it has came down to watches, there are few of the definitives that make them completely worth their money. One of them is price, but also complete convience. For Kenneth Cole, they've had some watches that have been completely worth their money, and others like the touch screen watch that really were wastes of time. For their New York Automatic watch, it actually handles well. This noble watch handles well by the simple motion of the self-winding movement of the wrist. It handles absolutely well. It really works brilliantly in its price, but also the convience of the watch. I liked how simple it is through its movement, and how you see the gears move through its skeletal design. If you are looking for a nice automatic, without the weight of a hefty price, than try this Kenneth Cole Watch out for size.
