Otterbox Defender - otterbox defender, ipod touch 4g case

Just got this case to replace the Belkin Grip Graphix (a nice silicone case), which I liked but doesn't do much of anything for protection.

I loved the Otterbox I got for my wife's Blackberry, which would have been toast by now without its protection, so I decided to give this a try to protect my new iPod. Purchased directly from Otterbox (used 10% off coupon). Extremely fast delivery (2 days).

The Good:

- AWESOME protection. This thing is made to take a beating more than any other case I've seen

- Nice screen cover. Anti-glare, but doesn't have too much sparkling/diffraction effect. Also easy to wipe down. Can't comment on durability yet, but seems good so far. No problems at all using the interface through the screen.

- Buttons are still easy to use (volume requires some force to press, but nothing bad)

- Very good grip - much easier to hold than the plain iPod without a case (though the Belkin I had was also very good in this regard, as are most silicone cases)

- Looks nice, very clean appearance

- The silicone outside fits nice and tightly over the hard inner shell

The Bad:

- Pretty bulky - turns your nifty thin iPod touch into the size of an iPod classic. Still, not too bad for the level of protection it provides

- Raised edges around the screen make it harder to use the interface, especially for some games and trying to type when in vertical/portrait orientation. I even fail to unlock it with the slide gesture fairly often (but then again, I have large fingers)

- Some uncovered parts, including the Apple logo on the back. This is good and bad - probably good for camera quality, but when you take that case off after a while, I imagine you are going to have a nice scratched up circle around the Apple logo =P

The Ugly:

- It pretty much will make your iPod unusable in any dock. I finally got an iPod to use with my Onkyo dock, and now I can't dock it. But, I knew this by the other reviews before I bought it!

- The flaps covering the dock connector and earphone jack are floppy, as mentioned by other reviews. This really is just ugly. In particular, the one for the earphone jack doesn't seat properly into the jack, and pops out a bit which looks goofy and catches my finger when holding it.

Overall, I like the case, but am bummed about the docking issue, and don't care for the floppy covers over the ports. I would give it 4 - 4.5 stars. Otterbox Defender Case for iPod touch 4th Generation (Black Plastic / Black Silicone)

I had a 2G/3G Defender case on my previous iPod Touch 3G, which is now my wife's since she got me the 4G for xmas. The new 4G case feels pleasantly thinner than the previous model (which felt a bit too chunky), but I hope it has the same level of protection. I've dropped my previous iPod accidentally from counter height onto tile floor and it's been fine in the 2G/3G Defender case, and the new thinness of this case makes me wonder if it would protect as well (not intending to try).

As others have mentioned, the sync port and headphone dock flaps on the bottom are more difficult to get to stay in, and flop out easier, which is frustrating enough to almost give this 4 stars instead of 5, but that would be unfair to other people looking to compare this great case to other lesser cases. The 2G/3G version of this case completely covered the iPod and stayed covered unless you deliberately opened the port flaps. This case has 4 unprotected holes: for both cameras (front and back), for light sensor, and for the speaker (next to the ports). Not sure how I feel about that. Will probably let more dust/dirt in, and the new hard plastic case is much harder to take off than the previous one for cleaning.

On the plus side, the new protective screen exhibits no oilslicking like the old one did (see talcum powder workarounds for that on the old one), but the new one has already picked up a few light fingernail marks from my relatives playing angry birds on it.

The pad for the power button does make it easier to press, but the volume pads require substantially more force.

I've had it now for a bit under a week, and it's still a wonderful case, like the previous gen version, with the above caveats. 4 stars comparatively, 5 stars compared to other cases.

UPDATE: After using it daily for a couple months now, I've dropped this from 5 to 4 stars, as the silicone wrapper keeps slipping, and buckling up a bit on the hard inner case. This combined with the flaps issue, regular dirt accumulation through the holes, and a bit of tactile (not audible) creaking of the plastic case, compel me to 4 star this instead of 5. Don't get me wrong, if I lost it, I'd replace it with another one, and it still protects very well against drops and bumps, but it seems a few needless things were shortcut when designing this. - Ipod Touch 4g Case - Ipod Touch 4th Generation - Otterbox Defender - Otterbox'

Headphones - ipod shuffle, belkin

My original review (but keep reading, because I've added something important to what I said originally):

This product came into being because of deficiencies in the controls for the 4th generation iPod Shuffle Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB Silver (4th Generation) NEWEST MODEL, Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Silver (4th Generation) NEWEST MODEL, whose controls are so close to the ear-pieces of the headphones that they are not only awkward to use, but they get soaked with sweat (if you're exercising, which is what many people who buy the Shuffle use it for) and then may perform erratically or not at all. This product puts the controls down near the iPod itself, which can be clipped onto a shirt away from your sweaty head. But best of all, you can use your own preferred headphones. If you're like me, you prefer the better tone quality of bigger headphones.

At any rate, this is a product whose designer saw a need and filled it with a new product. Thank you, Belkin.

November update:

A couple or three weeks after I had received the Belkin unit and had written the above review, I discovered that the Belkin had simply fallen apart. As far as I know I had not been rough with it and don't remember accidentally hitting it against a wall or taking a sledge hammer to it. :-) But it fell apart and was useless. This was a shock. So I took a chance and bought a different unit, the one made by Scosche Scosche Control Adapter for 3 rd Generation iPod Shuffle and have now had it for about a month. It works just fine, seems to be a bit more solidly built, and best of all it hasn't fallen apart.

And all of you have had problems with sweat inactivating the iPod Shuffle, 4th generation, controls, I hope you'll write Apple and complain.

Scott Morrison Belkin Headphone Adapter with Remote for Apple iPod Shuffle

First off, it worked fine for a while.

Then the volume up button wouldn't click. Still worked, so whatever.

Then the middle button would get stuck. I would have to pry it back open with my fingernails.

Then the thing started acting up; it kept thinking the middle button was pushed. I would have split the thing in half, peel off the poorly stickied metal contacts, and it still thinks the middle button was being pushed.

OK product. Shoddy construction.

The concept is very simple, volume up, volume down pause.

Volume up works perfectly.

Pause mostly paused. One time it skipped to the next track.

Volume down raised the volume. I could get it to lower the volume sometimes, but it required just the right spot between the pause and volume switch, which most of the time first raised the volume or paused.

Mine was obviously defective, but, with other reviews I have read in different places, there are MANY quality issues with it.

It's a great idea, but don't waste your money.

I ordered this because my Shuffle 3G headphones had been rendered useless by my workout routine, just like everyone elses'. I use it with a set of high quality in-ear monitors, made for performing musicians (& therefore sweat resistant), and the good news is that I can hear no discernible loss of sound quality or addition of unwanted noise when the Belkin is plugged in between the Shuffle and my in-ears. So now I can control my Shuffle without the terrible Apple headphones. The bad news is that the build quality of this unit is not great. The volume down button never 'clicked' out of the box, and although it does work, it doesn't provide any tactile response, which leads me to believe it will fail at some point (to be fair, it's been working for 3 months now). Also, the center button seems to not respond as it should, making it difficult for me to get the VoiceOver feature of the Shuffle to work consistently, if at all, although I can usually get it to switch between playlists, which is crucial for me.

All in all, the Belkin is OK in my book, as without it, my Shuffle would be nothing more than a tiny, utterly useless paperweight, and with the Belkin, I can manage to listen to my music through the headphones of my choosing. This item, even with its' cheap construction, is essential to anyone who plans on working out with the Shuffle 3G.

I'm not sure what is worse: Apple's cynical decision to get more licensing revenue by making the new shuffle useless without an adaptor such as the Belkin, Belkin's shoddy quality or my decision to skip the Nano in favor of the smaller shuffle. In any event, the Belkin adaptor worked for about two weeks. Now it only functions to increase the volume...nothing else. Basically $20 worth of junk.

I have purchased two of these units because I, too have a problem with the standard earbuds from Apple falling out of my ear and the cord is too short (shame on Apple for that iPod design flaw). The first one I purchased lasted about a month before the cord started to pull out where it enters the control and eventually stopped working. The second one I purchased is starting to do the same thing even though I am trying to be much more careful about how I handle and store it. Belkin might consider a molded control that integrates the cord which would provide some strain relief for the cord. In addition, the control itself has times when it won't function, but I think that is more of a quality control issue rather than a design flaw. - Ipod Shuffle - Belkin - Shuffle - Ipod'

Excellent Product - am fm radio, am-fm

I'm a big time radio guy, and have used many models over the years. There are two things that really make any radio stand out, and this one has both of them.

The ICF-38 is an excellent performer as far as reception of both AM and FM signals go. Weak signal pick up on both bands is markedly better here than with almost all small portable radios I've used, and even more importantly, selectivity (ability to seperate stations cleanly) is better as well. The tone switch (which some radios don't even have) cuts the treble when desired, if you want a less harsh sounding AM signal. The dial has no clock or light, but an LED for indicating if a station is tuned in. Battery life is excellent if alkalines are used (it takes 4 AA batteries). Output volume is listed as 4 watts, quite loud for a radio of this size, with little distortion at top level.

The other ingredient for a good radio is ease of use and a well thought out design. There are little things here which most people won't notice that actually make this radio a joy to use. Many radios today that run off both internal batteries and AC require a seperate wall-wart that plugs into the radio and the outlet, but the ICF-38 has the power cord built in so you won't have to search for it when needed. Also, the battery cover is hinged, which is great as battery covers can disappear as easily as wall-warts (and you can't just go to Wal-mart to buy a new battery cover). The carry handle flips up when needed, and there is an indentation in the cabinet which allows you to slip in a finger to raise it easily, and you'll find out how nice this is when your hands are full and you need to bring the radio with you as well. Both slide switches for band selection and power have a raised bump in the middle which makes it easier to change bands or turn it on. Finally, The shape makes it easy to place in most locations and it is very stable, making it unlikely to get knocked over.

If there were no markings on this radio to indicate the manufacturer, I would have easily guessed that it was a Sony product. It has the great performance and clever design that I associate with Sony. Sony ICF38 Portable AM/FM Radio (Black)

This radio brings in distant stations, sounds good, and takes up little space. The controls are easy for me to use. These were the qualities I was looking for so I am pleased I made the choice to buy Sony ICF38.

Just what I was looking for--a quality desktop radio with nothing fancy-- just a radio. The sound quality is very good and the reception is excellent with a telescoping adjustable attenna. Great value for the price.

batteries run forever. this is replacing the older version of this model which had the tv band and emergency weather, never the less this one works great I use this for the yard and beach and it is also fairly sturdy.

I just recently purchased this gem for use in my office & garage & my first impressions are as follows:

-Decent sound quality

-Reception is very good, actually better than a few portables I own that

cost much more.

-Very easy to use,you don't even need a manual.

This radio is a throw back to the 70's,no bells and whistles

just a tone control for music & talk. What impressed me the

most is the ease of picking up on AM lower powered stations

over 100 miles in the day time. For giggles & grins, I used a

'Select A Tenna' antenna in the night time & this unit turned

into a serious DX,ing machine! . In a nushell, for the money you

can't go wrong.

With the hurricane season approaching, we needed to replace our old portable radio. This Sony AM/FM met all the requirements: reasonable price, great sound, battery or plug-in operation. When my husband saw the radio, he asked how much it was and guessed it was at least $50. He was very surprised and pleased with the actual cost. A really excellent value, and a Sony!

Having been a radio nut for years, and using this radio for about five months now, this review is not given casually. Probably could stock my own radio store.

If you're looking for a basic AM/FM portable radio with excellent reception, sound, portability, quality and brand, you've come to the right place. And there's even a Tone High/Low switch which gives a nice variety of sound choices.

Rather than going into the specifics of the antenna, carry handle, aesthetic appeal, speaker size and quality, functionality of the knobs, battery life, suffice it to say, for $25 you can't go wrong! Try it - you'll like it.

(and no, I'm not a Sony nor Amazon representative)

I don't know how to review radios as I live 25 miles frm NYC so everything will work, but we have a mountain in between and somne stations are hard to tune. Anyway, this is fine for listening to Yankees games and tells when the signal is as good as can be. Also durable, can be thrown aroundn and still work. - Sony Radio - Am Fm Radio - Excellent Product - Am-fm'

ACUPRESSURE MAT / FREE BAG / ORGANIC COTTON / BLACK (Swedish Spike Mat)

I never heard of a Spike Mat and I purchased it from a local newspaper report. It is perfect for my multiple trigger points, muscle spasms in thoracic area of back. Most places are hard to reach and the Spike Mat is PERFECT! to relieve some of the built up pressure without a pharma patch. I am so against chemicals in the body. What the Spike Mat offers is a good pain, remember when you would bite on your gums when your teeth were coming in? It's like that, once you lay down on spikes, then you can adjust pressure on areas that need more spiking. Actually, I tore it out of box when it arrived and used a tshirt then bare skin to relieve my back muscle problems. I love it and use it daily.

ACUPRESSURE MAT / FREE BAG / ORGANIC COTTON / BLACK (Swedish Spike Mat)

this little mat has been one of the best purchases i've made in a very long time. it's very relaxing to lay on, and stops my muscles from spasms/pain. definitely lay down on it carefully, and move off it very carefully, as the spikes can scratch if you're not careful enough. recommend either wearing or laying down thin fabric when using for longer stretches of time. i've even slept on mine.

I got one of these mats for myself after receiving a recommendation from my yoga studio. The mat was so incredible that I bought my dad one for Christmas. Not only was it a fun/ slightly humorous gift to give ("what did your daughter give you for Christman?" "She gave me the most wonderful thing--a bed of nails!" blank stare...blank stare...blank stare "a what?!"), my dad loves it and has recommended it to many of his friends. It's great for relaxing after a long day and relieving nagging back pain. - Insomnia - Meditation - Massage - Acupuncture'

Nintendo Wi-fi Connection - mario kart, nintendo

I have never owned a Mario Kart before so can't compare to the other versions but this one for the Wii is a fun game. I was worried before I bought that the Wii wheel would not work very well. I was way wrong, I think it works very well.

The tracks and game play are a lot of fun for someone of any age. The game is easy to learn for beginners and is fun for the more experienced gammer. The game reminds me of something you would play at an arcade with all kinds of things going on as you drive through the course. Playing against friends is a lot of fun a well.

I tried out the on line play and it was a blast. I just had fun compared to some of the xbox/ps3 on line racing games where it can be stressful trying to compete and listening to angry 13 year olds.

If you are looking for a game that is fun for the family, especailly the kids, I would pick this one up. Its easy to learn and a lot of fun to play. Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel

Undoubtingly, Nintendo has really showed more muscle within their games for the Wii this past year. With games that really stretched beyond the imagination for fans like Super Mario Galaxy, which re-defined Mario alone in adventures, and the battle smashing action of Super Smash Brothers Brawl that dominated fans hearts all around the worls, Nintendo really shows what it takes to make great video games. But, that also can be said with the Mario Kart series, which finally makes it debut on the Wii. But, following the innovation that Mario Kart DS had from the Nintendo DS wasn't so easy, largely because it was the first DS handheld title to use the Wi-Fi online gaming to an outrageous excitement for gamers all around the world. Now, it is time for the Wii to take that on and race to the checkered flag.

Mario Kart Wii for the Nintendo Wii, brings in all that fast-paced excitement racers have wanted and even more. The game adds a whole lot of new and exciting features to use. You can now race as many as 12 racers online through the online gaming, and bring the action over the top, and use that skill and excitement on over 40 different tracks: 10 battle tracks and 32 exciting race tracks that are both new and featured from the earlier Mario Kart games like D.K. Jungle Highway and Sherbet Land from Mario Kart 64. The new tracks are also exciting that will have you racing and bouncing on top of mushrooms from the all-new Mushroom Gorge, and have you crusing the shopping malls and racing down fligts of escaltors with the brand new Coconut Mall course, or racing across the tree trunks of the new Maple Leaf Highway. Every single track is great for beginners and die hard Mario Kart fans of all ages.

The gameplay also has a few new surprises, as you not just rave in karts, you also get to race on motorbikes too, bringing more action and variety to each of the players delight. There are also a few new power-ups here too including the Mega Mushroom, from the DS game New Super Mario Brothers, which makes your racer giant-sized, so you can squash your opponents on your way to the checkered flag, and the lightning cloud which shrinks you down to a tiny racer, so you squeeze underneath your opponents and take them by surprise. There also are a few new characters here to unlock in the game as well. You can choose to race with the classics like Mario, Yoshi, Bowser and Luigi, and 6 hidden characters to unlock and master like Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy, Funky Kong and Diddy Kong from Donkey Kong Barrel Blast and even Bowser Bones (the skeleton Bowser boss from New Super Mario Brothers.)

The control is also a bit new here, with the use of the Wii Wheel. The wheel is easy to setup and hooks right onto the Wii remote. You can steer your racers easily through each and every race by turning your wheel left and right, and performing nifty stunts like a wheelie or a 360 on a jump. While the control with the Wii Wheel takes a lot to get used to for veterans, there are others ways to control the game. Like Super Smash Brothers Brawl, gamers can also use the Wii & nunchuck controls, or the classic controller and even the Nintendo Gamecube controller, so veterans can feel more comfortable in anyway they want to race. The graphics here are also well-designed, by bringing new excitement in restoring the classic courses, and a lot of great surprising new features that are the delight to anyone who loves the Mario Kart games.

All in all, Mario Kart Wii is definitely one of the best games I've ever enjoyed for the Nintendo Wii. I absolutely loved the need for plumber speed, and it shows in each and every race. This is definitely a must buy for your Wii video game library, that is sure to be a thrilling race and not even close to wiping out anytime soon. So start your Wii-motes, because the race is not ever going to stop.

Graphics: A

Sound: A-

Control: B for the Wii Wheel; B+ for the Wii & nunchuck controllers, A for the Classic and Gamecube Controllers

Fun & Enjoyment: A- for solo gamers; A for multiplayer action

Overall: A- - Wii Game - Mario Kart - Racing Game - Nintendo'

Hand Face Baby Wipes - pacifier, baby

These wipes smell really good. I keep a set in my diaper bag for when I need a quick wipe down on my toddler. I think they may be slightly cheaper and at the very lease price compatible with the Johnson wipes. I prefer these to the Johnson wipes. Though both probably work the same, these smell better! Vital Baby Super Soft Fruity Hand and Face Wipes, 30 Pack

This smells good-does it's job-I just have to admit I really like the Mustella face wipes better-however, Mustella is more expensive-but worth the extra cost-(at least for me)-but you can't go wrong with this either. . .

We LOVE the unscented Vital Wipes, so we thought we'd give the scented ones a try. However, my 8 month old son did NOT like them and would cry every time we'd use them. We ended up giving away all the rest that we had. - Pacifier - Wipes - The First Years - Baby'

Camping Stoves - roadtrip grill, portable grill

My family purchased a roadtrip grill 2 years ago to use for camping and we absolutely love it. The Stove Grate accessory made it even better, we use it for cooking, making coffee, heating up water for cocoa, washing, & etc. We are about to purchase a second grate as well. If you're thinking about purchasing an accessory griddle I recommend getting one of these instead and then use a pan. Coleman RoadTrip Accessory Stove Grate

We bought the grill for camping, and if you're out camping you're going to want coffee in the morning! The stove grate attachment is the only way to be able to get the coffee going in the morning without messing up the grill plates. It worked fine for us, we cooked all our breakfasts on the grill using this attachment. And it's easy to clean, too.

I purchased 2 of these grates to go on my new RoadTrip grill to take camping. They worked out perfectly!! I used them for "quickly" boiling a big pan of water for corn and for hot dish water and I used two at a time with my beloved Pampered Chef double griddle (I just covered the handles with aluminum foil). For anyone who wants to use the RoadTrip for more than a grill, this is a must have! They are also fairly lightweight and pack away nicely.

This is a fantastic item to have with your road trip grill. We use ours for camping and this item is wonderful. HEAVY duty too! I was amazed at the construction and quality. After replacing 4 camp stoves in 4 years I KNOW this one will last!

I got my Coleman RoadTrip Grill 9941 (the blue one) for Christmas and love it. I wanted to be able to use the grill for all of my cooking needs while camping so I purchased two of these grates for boiling water and using the coffee pot. The grates are a good fit and built very sturdy. The grill and grate have no problem holding a 12 quart stock pot to boil water for dishes or cooking large meals. This grate allows my RoadTrip Grill to replace all of my other camp stoves. I highly recommend getting at least one!

Stove grate works great. We used it on vacation shortly after we received it, and it made the grill just that much more versatile.

Very happy with the purchase.

I would recommend this item to anyone wanting to increase the value of the Road Trip Grill. - Portable Grill - Roadtrip Grill - Accessories - Camping'
